Afghanistan
Bombs kill 9 inside elite Afghan housing complex
Two bombs hidden in a motorcycle and a car exploded inside an elite gated community linked to the family of Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Friday evening, killing at least nine people and wounding more than 70 near the southern city of Kandahar, an official said.

The blasts happened inside Aino Mina, a housing complex on the northern outskirts of the city that was developed in part by Mahmood Karzai, the president's younger brother.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, but striking inside a powerful symbol of wealth and influence would be a publicity coup for the Taliban insurgency.

Both the car bomb and the motorcycle were remotely detonated within minutes of each other while parked next to a restaurant area where families were dining, Kandahar government spokesman Javeed Faisal said. He had earlier said there was only one blast.

Three police were among the dead, Faisal said, adding that an investigation is underway into how the explosives-laden vehicle slipped past the community's heavy security.

Many of the dozens of wounded brought to Mirwais Hospital in Kandahar were in critical condition, Dr. Samad Ahmadi said.

Bomber in Afghanistan kills 15, including six Americans
[Al Ahram] A jacket wallah in a car attacked a convoy of foreign troops in Kabul on Thursday, killing at least 15 people including six Americans, Afghan and foreign officials said, in one of the worst attacks in the Afghan capital in months.
Forty people were maimed in the blast at around 8 a.m. (0330 GMT) during the morning rush-hour.

The Hezb-e-Islami krazed killer group, which is allied with the Taliban, grabbed credit for the attack on the two-vehicle convoy.

NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Originally it was a mutual defense pact directed against an expansionist Soviet Union. In later years it evolved into a mechanism for picking the American pocket while criticizing the cut of the American pants...
's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said the bomber killed two of its members and four civilian contractors. It declined to give their nationalities.

But two bigwigs, one Afghan and the other from ISAF, said the two ISAF soldiers and four contractors were all American.

Afghan officials said nine Afghan non-combatants were killed, including two children.

"Some of the dead civilians were badly burnt and can not be recognised," Kaneshka Baktash, a front man for the Health Ministry, told Rooters.

Helicopters buzzed over Kabul's diplomatic area after the attack and sirens whined.

President Hamid Maybe I'll join the Taliban Karzai
... A former Baltimore restaurateur, now 12th and current President of Afghanistan, displacing the legitimate president Rabbani in December 2004. He was installed as the dominant political figure after the removal of the Taliban regime in late 2001 in a vain attempt to put a Pashtun face on the successor state to the Taliban. After the 2004 presidential election, he was declared president regardless of what the actual vote count was. He won a second, even more dubious, five-year-term after the 2009 presidential election. His grip on reality has been slipping steadily since around 2007, probably from heavy drug use...
strongly condemned the "cowardly" attack.

"Terrorists and enemies of Afghanistan's peace brutally targeted a residential area," Karzai said in a statement.

Sinai kidnappers demand release of detained colleagues
[Al Ahram] A security source has revealed that the kidnappers of seven Egyptian security personnel in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula have demanded the release of Islamist Death Eaters jugged
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
for almost two years.

The Death Eaters, who allegedly belong to the Tawhid wal-Jihad group, were convicted of killing five security officers and one civilian during a string of attacks in June/July 2011 on an Al-Arish city cop shoppe and a North Sinai branch of the Bank of Alexandria. Twenty-five individuals were charged in the case.

The security source, who asked not to be named, added that the kidnappers had accused Egyptian security forces of torturing one of the detained men.

The security source added that there was "no evidence" that the kidnappers were either jihadists or non-Egyptians.

The seven Egyptian security personnel were kidnapped by unknown assailants early on Thursday in Sinai.

According to state news agency MENA, the seven abductees include one member of the Egyptian army, four port security officers and two state security officers.

The men were kidnapped at a checkpoint near the 'Green Valley' region on the Rafah-Arish road in North Sinai, Rooters reported.

Gazoo-based Paleostinian resistance faction Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,, for its part, has declared plans to tighten border security and has offered to help Egyptian security forces find and arrest the kidnappers.

Africa Subsaharan
Troops Flood Borno, Yobe, Adamawa
[Nigerian Tribune] MEN and machines ready for the battle against snuffies are already heading to key areas being controlled by snuffies in Borno State, particularly areas such as Marte, Bama, Kukawa, Ngala, Kalabalge and Bama local governments.

Residents and Rooters news hounds saw army trucks carrying soldiers enter Yola and Maiduguri to seek out snuffies from Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
, whose rebellion has targeted the security forces, Christians and politicians in the mainly Moslem north.

A Rooters news hound saw six trucks carrying soldiers enter Yola, the capital of Adamawa State.

In the Borno State capital Maiduguri, the biggest city in the area and birthplace of the insurgency, residents also reported an influx of troops.

The mood was tense in that city. Shops were mostly shut and there were few people on the streets. Schools were closed.

Residents of Bama told Nigerian Tribune on phone that the soldiers are not molesting anyone but are seen carrying out their duties with some degree of regards and respect for the people.

Defence front man, Brig. General Chris Olukolade, disclosed that the operation which is commanded by Major General Jack Enwasiha, comprises all military divisions in the northern region and the Joint Task Force in the area.

According to him, the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police and other security agencies have commenced operations to rid the nation's border territories of terrorist bases and activities. The military operation will focus on tracking down criminal elements within the vicinity of border communities prone to terrorist activities.

He said that the operations which will involve massive deployment of men and resources is aimed at asserting the nation's territorial integrity and enhancing the security of constituted governmental structures in all territories within Nigeria's borders.

The operational plans have also briefed participating troops appropriately on arrests, cordon and search especially directed at apprehending those who have been violating illusory sovereignty of Nigeria through terrorist training for insurgency and related activities.

The Director of Defence Information said the operation is expected to put an end to Death Eater activities in these parts of the country.

The Defence front man, who disclosed that there is no time limit for the operation said that it will end as soon as the faceless myrmidons activities are checked and put to an end.

He added that the operation include anywhere insurgency can be found in the entire northern flank and that is why President Goodluck Jonathan
... 14th President of Nigeria. He was Governor of Bayelsa State from 9 December 2005 to 28 May 2007, and was sworn in as Vice President on 29 May 2007. Jonathan is a member of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP). He is a lover of nifty hats, which makes him easily recognizable unless someone else in the room is wearing a neat chapeau...
is appealing to foreign countries in case the faceless myrmidons run into their country they should be chased back.

The declaration of the state of Emergency by President Jonathan, has generated mixed reactions, in view of its implications to the socio-economic of the state.

Most business people in Yola the state capital, said the imposition of the state of emergency would adversely affect their businesses.

A former gubernatorial aspirant, on the platform of the ruling PDP, Dr Umar Ardo, who fielded questions on the issue, said that although the president has constitutional power to declare the state of emergency, was however of the opinion that there was hasty decision and rash in its imposition on Adamawa State.

"There are states in the north and other zones that have more security challenges than Adamawa, but to our surprise Adamawa is enlisted as one of the three states where state of emergency was imposed by Mr president.

"Instead of the whole state, the rule should have been imposed in the selected local government areas that there seems to be pockets of violence as earlier done in Yobe, Niger, Plateau and Borno states," he said.

Bosnia Expels Iranian Diplomats Suspected of Spying
[An Nahar] Bosnia has expelled two Iranian diplomats suspected of spying, including contacting a radical Mohammedan leader, a security ministry source said on Thursday.

The security ministry said that Iranian diplomats Hamzeh Doolab Ahmad and Jadidi Sohrab were declared "persona non grata" and "have left" Bosnian territory.

"As members of diplomatic personnel ... they have used their diplomatic status for activities incompatible with their diplomatic functions and the Vienna convention on diplomatic relations," the ministry said in a statement.

It did not elaborate or say when the two left Bosnia.

But a source at the ministry who asked not to be named said the two diplomats were suspected of "spying and (carrying out) other suspicious activities against the (Bosnian) constitution."

The two served as the "embassy's second and third secretary," the source said, adding that they, particularly Sohrab, "were contacting Nusret Imamovic," a leader of Bosnian followers of Wahhabism.

Man arrested in Idaho, accused of terrorism conspiracy
Federal authorities in Idaho said Thursday they had arrested an Uzbekistan national accused of conspiring with a designated terrorist organization in his home country and helping scheme to use a weapon of mass destruction.

The U.S. attorney's office said Fazliddin Kurbanov, 30, was arrested at an apartment complex in south Boise on Thursday morning after a grand jury issued a three-count indictment as part of an investigation into his activities in Idaho and Utah.

The Idaho grand jury's indictment charges Kurbanov with one count of conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization and one count of conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists. The indictment also alleges he possessed an unregistered explosive device.

A separate federal grand jury in Utah returned an indictment charging Kurbanov with distributing information about explosives, bombs and weapons of mass destruction.

Kurbanov was being held at the Ada County Jail and was scheduled to appear in federal court in Boise at 9 a.m. Friday.

Wendy Olson, the U.S. attorney in Idaho, said Kurbanov was the only person charged, and any potential threat was contained by his arrest.

"He was closely monitored during the course of the investigation," she said. "The investigation has been underway for some time."

Olson declined to share any other specifics of Kurbanov's alleged activities, including whether any potential terrorist threat or targets were domestic or abroad.

ASWJ man among five shot dead in city
[Dawn] Five persons, including an activist of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat
...which is the false nose and plastic mustache of the murderous banned extremist group Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistain, whatcha might call the political wing of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi...
(ASWJ) and a suspected robber, were bumped off in different parts of the city on Wednesday, police said.

The ASWJ activist was rubbed out in Korangi and another worker was maimed in firing on the funeral prayer for the former, according to party sources and police.

The police said Hafiz Sajjad, 40, had left his residence in Korangi 2 ½ and was on his way when gunnies intercepted him near Vita Chowrangi and fired at him. The victim was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where doctors pronounced him dead
He's dead, Jim!
, they added.

Korangi Industrial Area SHO Mohammad Ali said Mr Sajjad was on his way to his electric repair shop in Korangi when he was targeted. "Apparently, it was an incident of assassination," he said.

Tension prevailed in the area following the murder.

ASWJ spokesperson Maulana Akbar Saeed Farooqi told Dawn that the victim was an active member of the party's Korangi sector and head of the Muttahida Deeni Mahaz parliamentary committee for the provincial assembly constituency, PS-125.

Mr Farooqi said a scuffle had broken out between ASWJ workers and their rival party in Korangi on polling day over alleged rigging and the rival party workers had threatened Mr Sajjad with dire consequences.

The funeral of the ASWJ activist was later held outside Osman Ghani mosque on Korangi Road.

The ASWJ spokesperson said that gunnies resorted to firing at the mourners, leaving one their activists, Rizwan, maimed. He was admitted to the JPMC.

Mr Farooqi said that six party workers were 'kidnapped' on Wednesday. Two of them were later found in Korangi with torture marks. They were identified as Amjad and Hanif while the whereabouts of four others were still not known, he added. He said both police and Rangers did nothing to prevent this from happening.

Man killed in Korangi
Another man was rubbed out in Korangi, police said.

They added that Ali Hasan, 32, was returning home after offering Isha prayers in 'Bengali Camp' in Sector 34/3 when two armed motorcyclists attacked him. He was taken to the JPMC where he died during treatment, the police said.

Man killed in Shershah
A young man was bumped off in Shershah, police said.

They added that 26-year-old Hanif, son of Farid, was bumped off near his residence on Akbar Road.

The victim was a labourer, the police said.

The police quoted the victim's family as saying that they did not have enmity with anyone. A case was lodged against unidentified persons, they said.

Suspected robber killed in Clifton

A suspected robber was bumped off while another was maimed in what police described as an encounter in Clifton on Wednesday night.
The suspects were allegedly looting women in Clifton Block-9 when the police party challenged them. In an ensuing encounter, both the suspects were maimed. They were taken to the JPMC where the dear departed was identified as Javed, 28, while Sajid, 20, was admitted for treatment.

Iraq
Iraq violence kills 13 as PM blames sectarianism
[Al Ahram] Attacks killed 13 people and maimed more than 35 on Thursday, officials said, as Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki blamed violence plaguing Iraq on "sectarian hatred."
In the deadliest attack, a boom-mobile in the Shiite Sadr City area of Storied Baghdad
...located along the Tigris River, founded in the 8th century, home of the Abbasid Caliphate...
killed six people and maimed 17.

Another in the city's Chikouk area killed one person and maimed four, and a third in Kamaliyah killed three and maimed nine, security and medical officials said.

Gunmen also rubbed out the brother of a Sunni MP in the Bayaa area of Storied Baghdad, officials said.

In the north, a jacket wallah driving an explosives-rigged vehicle killed two soldiers and maimed three in djinn-infested Mosul, while a boom-mobile maimed two police and three civilians.

With the latest attacks, more than 60 people have been killed in three days of violence in Iraq, and more than 175 have died in unrest so far this month, according to AFP figures based on security and medical sources.

The attacks came as Maliki blamed sectarianism for the violence.

"The bloodshed... is a result of sectarian hatred," Maliki said in televised remarks. "These crimes are a natural result of the sectarian mindset."

Attacks on Wednesday, including a string of bombings that hit seven different areas of the capital, many of them Shiite-majority, killed 34 people. Blasts also hit Kirkuk and djinn-infested Mosul and Tarmiyah, north of Storied Baghdad.

Sixteen people were killed on Tuesday, including 12 rubbed out by gunnies at Storied Baghdad alcohol shops.

Tensions are festering between the government of Maliki, a Shiite, and members of the Sunni minority who accuse authorities of targeting their community, including through wrongful detentions and accusations of involvement in terrorism.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syrian troops flush out rebels from prison
Syrian government troops on Thursday flushed out rebels who had stormed a prison compound in the northern city of Aleppo in a bid to free hundreds of political prisoners inside.

The forced retreat was the latest setback for fighters seeking to topple President Bashar Assad, whose forces have been gaining ground in the country’s civil war.

In Washington, President Barack Obama and the Turkish prime minister projected a united front on Syria, despite sharp differences about how much the U.S. should intervene.

“There’s no magic formula for dealing with an extraordinarily violent and difficult situation like Syria,” Obama said at a joint news conference with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in which he pledged that the U.S. and Turkey would ramp up pressure to oust Assad from power.

-- were knocked off the Internet by cyberattacks in early May.
Dear me.
Two of the sites -- Ansar al-Mujahidin (as-ansar.com) and Shumukh al-Islam (shamikh1.info) -- came back up Monday and Tuesday. The site Al Fida remains down.

Counterterrorism Internet monitors told Inside the Ring that a posting on Facebook
Golly, Facebook'll let just anybody join, it seems.
by a member of a hacker group Qassam HackeRs, which supports the Paleostinian terrorist group Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,, claimed credit for the cyberattacks.

In an online posting that could not be verified, one of the Hamas hackers claimed that service to Ansar al-Mujahidin would continue to be disrupted until al Qaeda stops labeling members of Hamas' military wing, the Izz-al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, "infidels."
The poor darlings are skinless people in a sandpaper world.
All three websites are closely monitored by U.S. intelligence agencies and are considered key sources of information about the group.
Good.
The disruptions are prompting many jihadists to shift from Web forums to Twitter for communications and propaganda messaging.

Speculation that the cyberattacks were part of an intergroup rivalry is based on a dispute among gunnies over the announcement in April that al Qaeda in Iraq had merged with the pro-al Qaeda Syrian rebel group Al Nusrah Front.
No doubt soon to be cleverly renamed Al Qaeda in Iraq and Syria, in imitation of the nearly defunct Ba'ath party.
The merger prompted accusations that the Iraqi group had been infiltrated by hostile intelligence services.
Oh? How amusing. One does most certainly hope so.
