Ex-Army recruit whose 'Ft. Hood-inspired jihad' prompted alert not a threat: FBI
[FoxNews] UPDATE: An Army recruit who triggered a military and law enforcement alert is not considered an immediate threat by the FBI - even though the agency said he told friends he planned a "Ft. Hood-inspired jihad" against fellow soldiers" and warned it was "imminent."

FoxNews.com reported Monday that the FBI was searching for a recent Army recruit known as "Booker, also known as Mohammad Abdullah Hassan" after obtaining an alert based on FBI intelligence and provided by the agency's Kansas City division. The alert, which the FBI sent to the U.S. Marine Corps, local police departments and other law enforcement agencies, was titled "Planned Ft. Hood-inspired Jihad against US Soldiers by Army Recruit" and said Hassan had warned his "jihad was imminent."

But although the reference was to the 2009 shooting on a Texas military base in which 13 people were killed and more than 30 injured, the FBI downplayed the threat on Tuesday and said it was not hunting for the man.

"We have interviewed this individual," an FBI front man said. "There is not a manhunt and there never was one. There is no imminent threat to public safety, nor should the public be concerned that this threat exists from an individual on the lam."
How odd. What d'you suppose that was all about, dear Reader?

#9  Shooting with casualties reported at Ft. Hood

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a shooting with casualties Wednesday at Ft. Hood, scene of a 2009 attack that left 13 dead.

No further information was immediately available on the incident, the shooter or the extent of any injuries.

A banner running at the top of Ft. Hood’s website cautioned, “Shelter in place immediately. This is not a test.”

In 2009, U.S. Army Maj. Nidal Hasan, a psychiatrist who had become a radical Muslim while serving in the military, killed 13 people and injured dozens more inside the Army base in Killeen, Texas. Hasan, who represented himself at a military trial after clashing with his appointed attorneys, was sentenced to death in August.

Tunisia sentences LPR leader
[MAGHAREBIA] Tunisia just sentenced a leader of the pro-Islamist League for the Protection of the Revolution (LPR).

"The court in Tunis sentenced Imed Dghij to eight months for inciting violence and six months for attacking others on social networks," a judicial source said Friday (March 28th).

Dghij was placed in durance vile
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
at the end of February after threatening Tunisian authorities in an online video.

The decision to sentence the krazed killer militia leader was lauded by those calling for the dissolution of the controversial leagues.

But Dghij's sentence provoked anger among his supporters.

"Security units arrested 22 people in the city of El Kram on February 26th after the violence that occurred following the arrest of Imed Dghij," an official told TAP on Thursday.

The northern Tunis suburb is considered the main stronghold of the LPR.

Ennahda on Friday called for an investigation into the case of Dghij, in order to "uncover the facts and circumstances of his arrest".

The interior ministry, however, confirmed that the arrest took place after instructions from the public prosecutor and in the confines of human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
and law.

The statement added that the detainee incited violence via his social networking page and encouraged his fans "to storm the headquarters of security forces and damage them".

Meanwhile,
...back at the revival hall, the congregants were being herded into the paddy wagon...
leftist Popular Front official spokesperson Hamma Hammami on Sunday called for the dissolution of these leagues "and to investigate those who are behind them".

"I think that the sentence against Imed Dghij was justified, especially since he crossed several red lines after threatening security forces and judiciary officials," former LPR supporter Mekki Bouhlal told Magharebia.

He also blamed Dghij for not taking a stance against violence attributed to his group.

"Many activists have abandoned the league since the early days of the fall of Ben Ali. It is now a corrupt gang composed of hired thugs well-known to everyone," Bouhlal added.

"I think it is time now, after the sentence against Dghij, to finish with the issue of these leagues," law student Lamia Wechtati said. "We are a state protected by institutions and not by civil militias that some parties want to use to confuse political opponents."

She added that she thought the verdict was fair.

"The evidence against him was strong for he was ensnared in the violence and inciting it," she said.

For his part, General Union of Tunisian Labour (UGTT) head Houssine Abbasi on Saturday during a symposium in Sidi Bouzid called for "the review of appointments made on the basis of partisan quotas and to dissolve the leagues, rid mosques of krazed killer groups and steer them clear of political partisanship".

Abbasi earlier described these groups as "terror leagues".

Morocco encourages salafist integration
[MAGHAREBIA] When Moroccan King Mohammed VI attended prayers at a Tangier mosque on Friday (March 28th), the event did not go unnoticed.

The sermon was given by cheikh Mohammed Fizazi, who had served prison time for inspiring the 2003 Casablanca bombers.

Fizazi told worshippers that insecurity was symptomatic of a fresh outbreak of hatred between people. The battle against this scourge required Learned Elders of Islam to explain the relationship between rights and duties to worshippers.

Probe Urged against Sisi's Main Rival in Egypt Vote
[An Nahar] Egypt's top prosecutor called Tuesday for a probe into funds allegedly received by the only serious rival of ex-army chief Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in an upcoming presidential election, sources said.

Public prosecutor Hisham Barakat issued the call after a lawyer filed a complaint about funds that Egyptian businessmen allegedly provided to leftist leader Hamdeen Sabbahi, the judicial sources said.

Sabbahi, a prominent dissident during the rule of Islamist president Mohammed Morsi
...the former president of Egypt. A proponent of the One Man, One Vote, One Time principle, Morsi won election after the deposal of Hosni Mubarak and jumped to the conclusion it was his turn to be dictator...
, came third in the 2012 presidential election won by the now deposed Morsi.

Sabbahi's campaign front man Maasum Marzouk told Agence La Belle France Presse that such a complaint was filed even during the 2012 election when Sabbahi was receiving "donations for his campaign".

"But the prosecution found nothing at that time. A similar attempt to defame us is being made again," said Marzouk.

So far, Sabbahi is considered the only serious opponent of Sisi in the May 26-27 election.

Sabbahi may attract the support of a small but growing dissident movement.

But Sisi is riding a wave of popularity after he led the ouster of Morsi in July, after a single year of turbulent rule, and is widely tipped to win the election.

The registration of candidates for the election entered its second day on Tuesday.

SSS Interrogates Detained Boko Haram Suspects
[INDEPTHAFRICA] State Security Service (SSS) officials are questioning detained Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
suspects to ascertain if external collaborators were involved in Sunday's failed --and bloody --jailbreak.

Twenty-one suspects died in the attempted jailbreak at the Abuja SSS facility, according to the Service.

Some suspects, especially passers-by, jugged
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
within the vicinity of the SSS Asokoro headquarters have been released -- in line with the Service's "respect for human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
".

It was learnt that some of those arrested had valid identification cards and they were passers-by.

A new framework put in place by security agencies triggered the intervention of soldiers during the jailbreak.

A source, who spoke in confidence, said the Service had started finding out the remote and immediate causes of the botched jailbreak.

The source said: "We are de-briefing all the detainees to determine how the plot was hatched and if external collaborators were involved.

"We may also look into the likelihood of internal collaboration, although the strict system of recruitment might make it impossible. This is the only service that conducts serious security checks before employing its operatives.

"What we are doing involves interaction with these detainees by a team of officials, who have been mandated to dig deeper into the foiled jailbreak."

On the proposed Board of Inquiry into the incident by the Presidency, another top security source said: "It is a routine thing in a crisis situation like this; it is not an indictment of the SSS. It is also not prejudicial to any internal investigation of the jailbreak by the SSS.

"The audacity of the Boko Haram detainees accounted for the Board of Inquiry option so as to prevent a reoccurrence in any security agency or military facility.

"Beyond the outcome of SSS investigation into the incident, the Board, which may comprise sister agencies, is to examine all particulars concerned with any event or challenge."

Regarding the intervention of soldiers at the SSS facility, the source said: "The fact is that there is a new security framework in place to promote inter-agency cooperation.

"Once there is any challenge in any military formation or security agency, the new framework will trigger alarm for Rapid Response by other sister agencies.

"The soldiers merely responded to this alarm on Sunday by coming to the SSS headquarters. This is the technical or security justification for soldiers' intervention. It is not as if the SSS was incapable of managing the situation.

There were indications last night that some suspects around the SSS headquarters, who were arrested in Abuja on Sunday, have been released based on the service's respect for human rights.

Another source said: "Some of these suspects were passers-by but they have been released after due checks and frisking were conducted by the service.

"Since he came on board, the SSS DG, Mr. Ita Ekpenyong places premium on human rights and engagement in line with international best practices."

Kuwait Defends Minister after U.S. Charge of Funding Jihadists
[An Nahar] Kuwait's government has criticized a senior U.S. official for having accused a minister of the Gulf state of funding jihadist fighters in Syria, local media reported on Tuesday.
"They're not terrorists, they're freedom fighters. So shut up," he explained.
"The cabinet followed with great attention and displeasure accusations by a U.S. official ... against the justice and Awqaf (Islamic endowments) minister," Nayef al-Ajmi, it said in a statement.

David Cohen, the U.S. Treasury under secretary for terrorism and financial intelligence, said Ajmi's appointment to the Kuwaiti cabinet was "a step in the wrong direction."

"Ajmi has a history of promoting jihad in Syria," he said.

"His image has been featured on fundraising posters for a prominent Al-Nusra Front financier," Cohen was quoted as saying in a lecture, referring to the al-Qaeda affiliate battling the Syrian regime.

Parts of the lecture were carried in the media in oil-rich Kuwait, a close ally of the United States.

The cabinet statement said Ajmi explained his position at a government meeting on Monday and had categorically denied the charges.

Ajmi, a former deputy dean of the Islamic studies college at Kuwait University, was appointed to the cabinet in January.

Britain Orders Probe into Muslim Brotherhood Terror Links

... has stated that he is certainly a big Thatcher fan, but I don't know whether that makes me a Thatcherite, which means he's not. Since he is not deeply ideological he lacks core principles and is easily led. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...

U.S. Increases Troops at Afghan Transit Base in Romania
[An Nahar] Romania has approved an increase in American troops at its military airbase on the Black Sea as Washington continues to shift its main transit base for Afghanistan away from Kyrgyzstan, a report said Tuesday.

Romanian President Traian Basescu sent a letter to parliament approving the U.S. request for 600 more troops at the Mihail Kogalniceanu airport in the southeast of the country, the Agerpres news agency said.

"The request... refers to the deployment of a unit of Marines called the Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Crisis Response, with up to 600 soldiers and a number of military aircraft needed to fulfill specific missions," the letter said.

The U.S. is due to abandon by July the Manas airbase in Kyrgyzstan that has been the main transit point for its military personnel and cargo in and out of Afghanistan, after the Kyrgyz government refused to extend the lease last year.

The Mihail Kogalniceanu base, where around 1,000 troops are currently stationed, is due to become the main transit point as the U.S. prepares for a major withdrawal of forces and equipment from Afghanistan later this year.

The U.S. inaugurated the new transit center in February.

Between 20,000 and 30,000 troops are expected to transfer through the base on their way back from Afghanistan this year.

Muslim Brotherhood Launches Own U.S. Political Party
[IBD] Islamofascism
...a political system developed in Italy symbolized by the Roman fasces -- thin reeds, each flimsy in itself but unbreakable when bound into a bundle. The word is nowadays thrown around by all sorts of people who have no idea what they're talking about...
: With an eye toward the 2016 election, the radical Moslem Brüderbund has built the framework for a political party in America that seeks to turn Mohammedans into an Islamist voting bloc.

'Mohammedan voters have the potential to be swing voters in 2016," said Nihad Awad in launching the benign-sounding U.S. Council of Mohammedan Organizations, whose membership reads like a Who's Who of Brotherhood front groups.

"We are aiming to bring more participation from the Mohammedan community."

USCMO also aims to elect Islamists in Washington, with the ultimate objective of "institutionalizing policies" favorable to Islamists -- that is, Shariah law.

This development bears careful monitoring in light of the U.S. Brotherhood's recently exposed goal to wage a "civilization jihad" against America that explicitly calls for infiltrating the U.S. political system and "destroying (it) from within."

The subversive plan was spelled out in hundreds of pages of founding archives that the FBI confiscated from a Brotherhood leader's home in the Washington suburbs after 9/11.

Can any Mohammedan join USCMO? Nope. First you must fill out a four-page application and pass Brotherhood inspection. Then you have to cough up $1,000 a year -- $3,500 if you want a voting membership.

Iran Loses Manhattan Skyscraper To Terror Vics
[NYDailyNews] The Iranian companies that own a Midtown office tower worth more than $500 million must forfeit the building to people who successfully sued Iran for damages over terrorist attacks, including 9/11, a judge has ruled.

In a written opinion Friday, Manhattan Federal Judge Katherine Forrest said the companies must hand over the building because they acted as fronts for the Iranian government and therefore "are" the government of Iran under certain federal laws.

In a separate but related decision in September, Forrest said the feds have the right to seize the building, 650 Fifth Ave., partly due to money laundering acts.

India-Pakistan
Protest against CII recommendations
[DAWN] ISLAMABAD: The members of civil society on Monday held a protest against the recent decision of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) regarding the minimum age for marriage and second marriage.

The CII recently recommended that the children of any age should be allowed to get married, if they have attained puberty.

Moreover, the CII also recommended that if a man wants second marriage there should be no condition to get permission from first wife.

Protesters were holding placards and banners and rolled their eyes, jumped up and down, and hollered poorly rhymed slogans real loud against the members of CII.

Protesters said that CII should not interfere in already settled issues and it should give attention to issues like terrorism and extremism.

They said that it is unfortunate that religious leaders had been creating controversies rather than resolving the issues and bringing the people close to each other.

Jirga seeks release of tribesmen
[DAWN] GHALANAI: A jirga comprising leaders of political parties, office-bearers of welfare organizations and Learned Elders of Islam on Monday reviewed the situation arising out of the raids on houses of rustics and their arrest by the security forces.

The participants said that most of the detainees were over 60 years of age and asked the government to set them free.

They said instead of sniffer dogs, identification of wanted persons should be conducted through the local jirga. They said the Haleemzai rustics had already handed over hundreds of desperados to the administration and security forces from time to time.

The jirga also complained of misbehaviour of forces' personnel with the detainees at the lockup.

"We do not know who is the real authority in the area -- the political administration or the security forces (Mohmand Rifles) -- because the forces' personnel raided our houses without consulting the local administration," said a participant of the jirga.

Later, the jirga formed a 20-member committee for holding negotiations with the local administration and Mohmand Rifles regarding the release of the incarcerated

Ahmedi man held for 'desecrating' Quran amid rampage
[DAWN] HYDERABAD: A number of residents of various localities of Tando Allahyar city and activists of religious parties erupted into the streets against alleged desecration of the Holy Koran and attacked the home-cum-worship place of a man belonging to the Ahmedi community for his involvement in the alleged sacrilege.

The charged crowd rushed to Tahir Ahmed's place and went on the rampage in the worship place on the ground floor. He took refuge on the upper floor, where his family lived, and the crowd did not pursue him there.

A heavy contingent of police and Rangers arrived at the spot and detained Mr Ahmed while protesters threw stones at the suspect and injured him.

According to sources, 12-year-old Salman was coming from a seminary in Mansoor Colony, Tando Allahyar city, when he was intercepted by two men riding a cycle of violence and snatched the Koran from him and beat him up.

Salman crying went back home and told his family and others that Mr Ahmed and an unknown man riding a motorbike had roughed him up and snatched the Koran and desecrated it.

Then a big charged crowd gathered and rolled their eyes, jumped up and down, and hollered poorly rhymed slogans real loud against the suspect and reached his home in Mansoor Colony. Salman lives in the neighbourhood of the suspect. The crowd went on the rampage on the ground floor of the house, said to be a small worship place.

A heavy contingent of police and Rangers arrived there and tossed in the slammer
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
Tahir Ahmed and took him to the A-Section cop shoppe of Tando Allahyar, where the crowd threw stones at the suspect and demanded registration of a case against the suspect.

An FIR (68/2014) was registered on a complaint of Qari Mohammad Ayub Siddique, Salman's paternal uncle, under Sections 295-b, 337-A-1 and F-1 against the two suspects at the A-Section cop shoppe.

The protesters burnt tyres and resorted to firing in the air, forcing traders to shut their businesses. Tando Allahyar was tense till late in the night.

A couple of Ahmedi families live in Mansoor Colony and many more families of the community live across Tando Allahyar district. After the registration of the case, the crowd dispersed.

Tando Allahyar DSP Noor Mohammad Marri told Dawn that a case was registered and a suspect arrested.

He said that according to Tahir Ahmed's wife, Salman and their son had fought over some petty matter in the afternoon .

Tando Allahyar SSP Javed Baloch told Dawn that police were investigating the case from different angles and had beefed up security measures for the Ahmedi community in Tando Allahyar and were patrolling the streets also.

According to sources, it was rumoured that some people wanted to grab Tahir's house.

Sawan Masih appeals blasphemy death sentence
[DAWN] LAHORE: Sawan Masih, the man recently sentenced to death for blasphemy, appealed against his conviction Tuesday, saying the charges were trumped up to speed the eviction of Christians from the area.

Masih was convicted last week of insulting Prophet Mohammed (PTUI!) during a conversation with a Moslem friend in the Joseph Colony neighbourhood of Lahore in March last year.

"We have filed an appeal in the Lahore High Court against the death sentence awarded to Sawan Masih and called for his acquittal and release from jail," his lawyer Naeem Shakir told AFP.

More than 3,000 people rampaged through Joseph Colony, torching some 100 Christian homes in Pakistain's second-largest city, after the allegations against Masih emerged.

Police had initially said they would investigate whether or not businessmen in the area may have instigated the violence with the aim of seizing the land, or to exploit the blasphemy allegations for political gain.

Shakir said the circumstances in which the incident took place cast "serious doubts" over the prosecution's case.

He added his client had told the court the blasphemy charges "were fabricated by the elements who wanted to occupy the property of Joseph Colony".

Pakistain has extremely strict laws against defaming Islam, including the death penalty for insulting Prophet Mohammed (PTUI!), and rights campaigners say they are often used to settle personal disputes in a country where 97 per cent of the population is Moslem.

A recent report from a US government advisory panel said Pakistain used blasphemy laws more than any other country in the world, listing 14 people on death row and 19 others serving life sentences for insulting Islam.

The country has had a de facto moratorium on civilian hangings since 2008. Only one person has been executed since then, a soldier convicted by court martial.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Abbas: Palestinians Will Seek to Join U.N. Agencies
[An Nahar] Paleostinian president the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
signed a request to join several U.N. agencies on Tuesday, in a move that could derail a U.S. push to revive faltering peace talks with Israel.

"The Paleostinian leadership has unanimously approved a decision to seek membership of 15 U.N. agencies and international treaties, beginning with the Fourth Geneva Convention," Abbas said on television after signing the demand during a meeting at his Ramallah headquarters.

"The demands (for membership) will be sent immediately" to the relevant agencies, he said.

"This is not a move against America, or any other party -- it is our right, and we agreed to suspend it for nine months," said Abbas.

The Paleostinians agreed to refrain from seeking membership of international bodies and from pursuing legal action against Israel during the nine months of talks that U.S. Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
launched in July.

In return, Israel agreed to release 104 long-serving Paleostinian prisoners.

But Israel has refused to release the final batch of 26 prisoners, using it as a bargaining chip to try and extend talks beyond their April 29 deadline.

The Paleostinians have also repeatedly threatened to resume their action through international courts and the U.N. over Israel's settlement expansion on occupied territory in the West Bank and in annexed Arab east Jerusalem.

Israel on Tuesday reissued tenders for hundreds of settler homes in the east Jerusalem settlement neighborhood of Gilo, on top of the thousands of new homes it has announced since July.

Kerry Cancels Ramallah Visit as Israel, Palestinian Moves Threaten to Derail U.S. Efforts
[An Nahar] U.S. Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
cancelled plans to travel Wednesday to Ramallah after both the Israelis and the Paleostinians announced moves likely to scuttle the peace talks.

"We are no longer travelling tomorrow," a senior State Department official said, shortly after Paleostinian president the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
said the Paleostinians would seek membership of 15 U.N. agencies.

Israel also announced new tenders for housing settlements.

Under the terms of a July accord for resuming the talks after a three-year break, both sides had vowed not to take such moves for nine months.

Israel has also failed to release this weekend as agreed a fourth and final group of Paleostinian prisoners, ahead of an April 29 deadline for a peace deal.

Kerry called on both sides to show restraint, after holding more than four hours of talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on a surprise trip late Monday to Israel.

But Kerry told a presser after taking part in talks on Ukraine at NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Originally it was a mutual defense pact directed against an expansionist Soviet Union. In later years it evolved into a mechanism for picking the American pocket while criticizing the cut of the American pants...
that he was not sure yet whether he would return to the Middle East region as had been announced only hours earlier.

"My team is on the ground meeting with the parties even tonight," the top U.S. diplomat said.

"We urge both parties to show restraint," he added.

Asked if he was going back to Israel and the region, he replied: "I'm not sure I'm going.... We have certain things we are trying to figure out in terms of the logistics on the ground and what is possible."

U.S. officials said Kerry had already talked with Netanyahu following Abbas's announcement, and planned to call the Paleostinian leader as well later Tuesday.

But the chief U.S. diplomat, who has been working for months to try to broker an elusive peace deal, insisted it was too early to draw any conclusions on the fate of the process.

"It is completely premature tonight to draw... any final judgement about today's events and where things are. This is a moment to be really clear-eyed and sober about this process," Kerry said.

"It is difficult, it is emotional, it requires huge decisions, some of them with great political difficulty, all of which need to come together simultaneously.

"Obviously it's moments like this where we all need to remember exactly what brought us to this effort in the first place, what the goal is and where everybody wants to end up."

Israel and the Paleostinians announced moves earlier Tuesday likely to scuttle peace talks, hours before Kerry was to fly back to the region in a bid to save them.

Washington's top diplomat wrapped up a lightning visit to Israel earlier in the day, but his departure was rapidly followed by news Israel had reissued tenders for hundreds of settler homes in annexed east Jerusalem.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
More than 150,000 Killed in Syria Conflict, among Them 364 Hizbullah Fighters
Only 364? I was hoping for at least an order of magnitude more.
[An Nahar] More than 150,000 people have been killed in Syria since the conflict began in March 2011, a monitoring group said in a new toll released Tuesday.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said it had documented the deaths of 150,344 people. Of them, 51,212 were civilians, including 7,985 children.

The group said 37,781 members of the armed opposition had been killed, including jihadists from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant
... the current version of al-Qaeda in Iraq, just as blood-thirsty and well-beloved as the original...
and the al-Qaeda affiliated Al-Nusra Front.

A total of 58,480 loyalist forces, including more than 35,000 soldiers, were also killed.

Included among those killed on the government side were 364 members of Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...

Another 2,871 unidentified people were recorded as having died, the group said.

The conflict began with peaceful anti-government demonstrations, inspired by similar movements elsewhere in the region, that were brutally suppressed by the regime.

In response, part of the opposition took up arms and the conflict spiraled into civil war.

On Tuesday itself, more than 50 people were killed in Damascus and Aleppo provinces, the Observatory said.

Thirty-one of the dead fell in Aleppo, mainly as a result of helizaps by the regime, using barrel bombs on rebel areas.

The barrel bombs killed 12 children, six women and three men, said the Observatory, which has previously documented hundreds of casualties in similar air raids targeting the northern province.

Another four children and four adults were killed in a mortar attack by rebels against a regime-held neighborhood in Aleppo city, said the Observatory.

Meanwhile in Damascus province, 12 people were killed. Among them were six children killed by army tank fire on Jabaadin village.

Jumblat: Funniest Thing about Security Plan is that Top Militants were Forewarned
[An Nahar] Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Wally Jumblat
... Druze politician, head of the Progressive Socialist Party, who's been on every side in Leb at least four times. He'll sell you his friends for a dollar, but family comes higher because of shipping and handling...
voiced surprise Tuesday that some political parties had "forewarned" the leaders of the fighting frontiers in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
and advised them to escape ahead of the security plan that got underway earlier in the day.

"In a magical way ... and after the genius, high-ranking political and security officials obtained miraculous powers, the implementation of the Tripoli security plan got underway, after the city was battered with 20 rounds of fighting," Jumblat said in a statement.

He noted that the political cover has been finally lifted off the neighborhood thugs and top hard boyz in an "actual" manner, after it was "lifted dozens of times theoretically."

"The funniest thing about the security plan, which we cannot but support and wish success for ..., is that it forewarned all the leaders of the fighting frontiers that it was coming, which enables (Arab Democratic Party political relations official) Rifaat Eid
...secretary general of the Leb Arab Democratic Party, a Pencilneck regime front organization...
to continue his higher studies at the University of Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, Berkeley," Jumblat added.

"It is not unlikely that the leaders of the fighting frontiers might occupy the front seats at the most prestigious universities of Europe, and they might go to Gay Paree, London and Berlin if they confirm that their financial resources have been seriously cut off this time due to the security plan," the PSP leader went on to say.

He pointed out that it had been possible to avoid 20 rounds of festivities that killed "hundreds of innocent civilians" and soldiers instead of "exhausting Tripoli over the presidential, ministerial, parliamentary and local calculations of some officials."

"Tripoli deserves life and it definitely deserves leaders who are able to run its affairs, achieve development and execute social and economic projects," Jumblat stressed.

A security plan devised by the Higher Defense Council and adopted by cabinet got underway on Tuesday morning in Tripoli and the North, amid the fleeing of the most prominent leaders of the Jabal Mohsen and Bab al-Tabbaneh fighting frontiers.
