Libya faces chaos as top court rejects elected assembly
[IN.REUTERS] Libya's Supreme Court on Thursday declared the internationally recognised parliament as unconstitutional, in a ruling likely to fuel further chaos in the north African oil producing nation.

The decision came a day after gunnies stormed Libya's biggest oilfield, shutting down production at the facility in the country's remote south in a new blow to the already beleaguered energy sector.

Libya is in chaos as two rival governments and parliaments are struggling for control of the country's vast energy reserves three years after the overthrow of Muammar Qadaffy
...who single-handedly turned a moderately prosperous kingdom into a dictator's fantasyland and was then murdered by his indignant subjects 42 years later...
. Dozens of gangs have also joined the fray.

Western powers and Libya's neighbours fear the OPEC member nation is heading for a full-blown civil war, with former rebels who helped oust Qadaffy now using their guns to carve out their own fiefdom.

Libya is split into a western part controlled by fighters calling themselves Operation Dawn, who seized the capital in August, leaving the internationally recognised parliament and government in charge of a rump state in the east.

Bomb kills two, wounds 14 on trains in and around Cairo
[REUTERS] A bomb planted in a train killed two Egyptian coppers and maimed 11 other people when it went kaboom! at a station in the Nile Delta province of Menufia late on Wednesday, state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
said.

Another small bomb went kaboom! about an hour later in a Cairo metro station, wounding three people, the state-run Al-Ahram news portal reported.

Egypt has faced a growing Islamist insurgency since July 2013 when the army ousted elected Islamist President Mohammed Mursi following mass protests and cracked down hard on his Moslem Brüderbund.

The Islamist forces of Evil are based mainly in the Sinai Peninsula, where at least 33 soldiers were killed last month near the border with the Gazoo Strip, prompting the army to clear a border area used for smuggling weapons and fighters.

There were no immediate claims of responsibility for Wednesday's attacks.

4 Tunisian Soldiers Killed in Bus Shooting
[AnNahar] Four Tunisian soldiers were killed on Wednesday when suspected turbans opened fire on a minibus carrying troops, the defense ministry said.

Describing the attack in northwestern Tunisia as a "terrorist operation," ministry front man Belhassen Oueslati said the suspects had escaped but were being hunted down.

"Two gunnies approached the bus that was carrying soldiers and opened fire," he said, adding that the turbans fled after the troops returned fire.

Three soldiers were initially reported to have been killed and a fourth died later of his wounds, Oueslati said.

Eleven others were also maimed, including one who was at death's door.

Oueslati said there were only soldiers on the bus and not relatives too as first thought.

The attack occurred in the region of Nebeur, between the towns of Kef and Jendouba, close to the border with Algeria, he said.

Since its 2011 uprising Tunisia has witnessed frequent attacks by Islamist turbans that authorities say have killed dozens of police and military personnel.

Security forces have engaged in a crackdown on holy warrior groups close to the border with Algeria since the end of 2012.

The authorities have voiced fears that forces of Evil might try to disrupt landmark elections.

The country is preparing for presidential polls on November 23 -- the first time Tunisians freely elect their head of state -- following a key parliamentary election last month in the cradle of the Arab Spring uprisings.

Carjacking horror: Civilian shot dead by militants
[ARABNEWS] Terrorists responsible for a killing spree in Al-Ahsa on Monday brutally murdered a citizen for his car to carry out their operations.

Security authorities confirmed that the turbans had killed 30-year-old citizen Adel Hraba in the village of Al-Mansoura. The turbans had seized the stolen car at gunpoint in the village, which is near the scene of the crime, while Hraba was still inside the car.

After carrying out the operation, they drove to Al-Mazawi village, a few kilometers away, where they shot Hraba in the head and poured acid over his body. Security officers identified the body on Wednesday morning.

Surveillance camera installed above a house near the Women's Council of Al-Hosseinia assisted the police in identifying one of the three vehicles used by the attackers, who were all bearded and unmasked.

Terror victims include five children aged 9 to 16.

Five people were maimed in the incident, four of whom are teenagers aged 13 to 17.

Al-Ahsa Gov. Prince Badr bin Mohammed bin Jelawi visited the injured at King Fahd Hospital in Al-Hofuf on Tuesday.

He said Al-Ahsa would remain united in its fight against turbans in the community.

French-Algerian Killed in Yemen Rebel Shooting
[AnNahar] A French-Algerian was killed and another man was maimed Wednesday in a shooting by Iranian catspaws who have overrun the Yemeni capital, security and diplomatic sources said.

Both were Salafist students and residents of Sanaa, and "it wasn't French interests that were targeted" in the shooting, said the Western diplomat.

The maimed man was said to be French-Moroccan.

They were stopped at a checkpoint in the capital on suspicion of carrying explosives, leading to an argument in which the French-Algerian stabbed a Shiite rebel before he was rubbed out himself, the security source said.

The diplomat was unable to confirm the knife attack.

The security source said the French-Algerian's body was taken to a public hospital in the capital while the maimed man was brought by the rebels to a clinic they control.

Gunmen kill 5 in attack in eastern Saudi Arabia
Saudi authorities arrested 15 people on Tuesday in connection with a shooting in the east of the kingdom the previous night that left five people dead. The attack happened late on Monday evening in the village of Al Dalwah, which is located in the country's eastern Al Ahsa region, a major oil-producing area.

The attackers shot the victims with pistols and machine guns, according to the official Saudi Press Agency. The agency provided no further details on the identities of the attackers or the victims, and said an investigation is underway.

Saudi Arabia's embassy in Washington said 15 men were arrested in six different cities on terrorism charges in connection with the shootings. The embassy said authorities initially arrested six people and after further investigation, arrested another nine.

The embassy said two members of the Saudi security forces and two suspected gunmen were killed in a shootout in Buraidah in the Qassim region in a security operation linked to the Al Ahsa shooting.

Kuwaiti Gitmo hard boy sent home
One of two remaining Kuwaitis held in the US military prison at Guantanamo Bay was sent home Wednesday after nearly 13 years in detention, a Pentagon spokesman told AFP.

Fawzi Al Odah, 37, boarded a Kuwaiti government plane at 5:30 am (1030 GMT), said Lieutenant Colonel Myles Caggins. He is the first inmate freed since late May, bringing the total number of detainees at the prison on a US naval base in Cuba to 148.

Al Odah and fellow Guantanamo detainee Fayez Al Kandari were arrested in northern Pakistan in late 2001 by tribesmen who sold them to the Pakistani army who in turn handed them over to the United States.
Thanks cousins!
At a hearing in July, Guantanamo's Periodic Review Board "determined that continued law of war detention of the detainee does not remain necessary to protect against a continuing significant threat to the security of the United States."

However, the board ruled that Al Kandari "almost certainly retains an extremist mindset and had close ties with high-level Al Qaeda leaders in the past," and recommended against his release.
He'll almost certainly join up with ISIS or the Taliban. We'll have to kill him. Oh well...

#3  Bridget Johnson of PJMedia adds these details:

Al Awda, 37, is an experienced terrorist recruiter with London ties, returning to his home country as intelligence agencies have been on the alert for Western jihadist recruitment.

“Detainee is assessed to be a member of al-Qaida,” reads the 2008 DoD assessment. “Detainee’s name is included on al-Qaida affiliated documents, and he was reported to have sworn bayat (oath of allegiance) to UBL. Detainee has been identified as an associate of UBL and his spokesman, Sulayman Abu Ghayth. Detainee is a reported member of a London-based al-Qaida cell under Abu Qatada and is assessed to be an extremist recruiter and courier. Detainee attended militant training at al-Qaida and Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LT) camps in Afghanistan and Pakistan and was identified as receiving suicide training.”

He then “participated in hostilities against US and Coalition forces and served on an Islamic committee providing inspiration to fighters in Tora Bora.”

The assessment noted his history of “jihadist combat” and ties to “extremist affiliated” NGOs, and adds that he “has received coded communications from a Kuwaiti extremist.”

Al Awda was determined to be a high risk to the U.S., a high detention threat and of high intelligence value.

His father was a Kuwaiti pilot, and Al Awda came to the U.S. as a young child when his father was sent to train here. Al Awda graduated from the University of Kuwait in 1998 with a degree in Islamic studies and traveled to Pakistan shortly thereafter; the same year he was spending time with Abu Qatada’s group in London. He then worked for the Kuwaiti government in its Alms and Charities Agency.

“Detainee was also identified as being in Bosnia fighting alongside Arab mujahideen,” the report states.

In 1999, he was in Houston on what he said was a visit to his sick grandmother.

Al Awda was in the mountainous border region of Afghanistan near Pakistan when the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks happened. He was soon captured by Pakistanis and turned over to the U.S. in January 2002.

Two more terrorist plots foiled as forces comb areas around Wagah
[Pak Daily Times] Security forces and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) foiled two more terror plots near the Wagah border parking area on Monday by defusing improvised explosives device (IED) near the site of Sunday's suicide terrorist attack.

The BDS also recovered a 10-kg suicide jacket from the fields during a search operation. Sources said that at least twelve suspected people were placed in durance vile
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
from the areas around the incident place and were sent to some holy man's guesthouse an undisclosed location for interrogation. They said that investigation was underway in which customs officials, a hotel owner and his staff have been included. Upon being informed, the Bomb Disposal Squad was called to the site and it successfully defused an IED. Security forces also began a search operation in nearby villages and areas and rounded up several suspects.

Indian and Pak intelligence agencies both picked up plans for an imminent strike on their Wagah land border ahead of a suicide kaboom that killed 57 people on Sunday, and heightened security possibly averted a more devastating attack. Pak police on Monday said they had recovered a "huge" cache of weapons and explosives near the border, where thousands of Indians and Paks gather at dusk every day to watch a flamboyant ritual parade by their security forces.

Police spokeswoman Nabeela Ghazanfar said the latest corpse count was 57 after the bomber detonated explosives in a car park 500 meters (yards) from the border gates and parade ground, just as hundreds of spectators were returning from the ceremony. Pak and Indian agents, who do not share intelligence, gave conflicting accounts of whether the bomber's true intention was to cause casualties on the Indian side of the border and stir up tensions between the nuclear-armed nations.

"It appears the bomber wanted to target ground zero where Pakistain and India border officials stand together to perform the flag ceremony but he could not enter due to tight security on the last gate," a Pak intelligence official told Rooters. "Had he managed to reach the place, there would have been the worst scenario at both sides." If successful, such an attack would likely have severely tested ties between India and Pakistain, already frayed after weeks of shelling further along the border killed 17 people in October.

Pakistani Taliban Breakaway Faction Threatens India Attacks
[AnNahar] A breakaway faction of the Pak Taliban that grabbed credit for a devastating suicide kaboom earlier this week threatened Wednesday to carry out attacks inside India.

At least 55 people were killed and more than 120 maimed at the main Pakistain-India border crossing on Sunday when a bomb tore through crowds of spectators leaving after the colorful daily ceremony to close the frontier.

Jamat-ul-Ahrar (JA), a faction of the Pak Taliban which broke away from the main leadership in September, was one of a number of groups that grabbed credit for the attack at the Wagah border crossing

The group's front man Ehsanullah Ehsan
...formerly the front man for the Pak Taliban, now the lips and tongue of the Jamaatul Ahrar splinter group in Mohmand Agency...
said India would be the target of their next attack, warning Prime Minister Narendra Modi that his country was not "out of reach" for the group.

"India is included in our next attack, Narendra Modi should not have this misconception that we cannot attack his country," he told Agence La Belle France-Presse.

"If we can attack on one side of the border we can also attack on the other side of the border. We do have access to the other side of the border," he added.

Ehsan also repeated his group's claims that they carried out the Wagah border crossing attack, saying he would soon release a video to prove his faction was behind the blast.

There were several conflicting claims of responsibility for the attack, reflecting the fragmentation the umbrella Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) movement has undergone in recent weeks.

Abdullah Bahar, a front man for a Pak Taliban faction loyal to its dead chief Hakimullah Mehsud, said they carried it out to avenge Mehsud's killing in a U.S. drone strike last year.

TV channels also ran claims from a third hard boy faction, called Jundullah.

But the Jamat-ul-Ahrar faction, which broke away from the main TTP leadership in September, rubbished the claim and said they were behind the blast.

Ehsan previously said in an email statement that the attack was Dire Revenge for those killed in the ongoing Pak military operation in North Wazoo tribal area on the Afghan border.

turbans have reportedly kidnapped nearly 50 people from the Sunni Albu Nimr tribe in Iraq's violence-plagued western province of Anbar.

The gunnies have kidnapped 46 people from the tribe in Kilo area, situated west of the quiet provincial capital, Ramadi, the Arabic-language news network, al-Mayadeen, reported on Wednesday.

The development comes after ISIL executed at least 36 people, including four women and three children, from Albu Nimr tribe on Monday.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Iraqi Human Rights Ministry announced that at least 322 Albu Nimr people have been killed by the ISIL turbans in Anbar Province since last week.

It added that the bodies of 50 women and kiddies were discovered dumped in a well.

According to Iraqi police sources, the ISIL turbans have already kidnapped 1,000 members of Albu Nimr tribe, executing a number of the abductees every day. The gunnies do not even spare the infants in executions.

Hamam Mesalmeh arrived at the Etzion District Coordinating Office around midday and was detained for questioning over the attack. The DCO coordinates activities between Israeli and Paleostinian security forces.

Earlier the IDF arrested his father and brother, according to Paleostinian media reports.

Israel Radio cited the Paleostinian news agency Safa, which reported Thursday that security forces entered the village of Beit Awa, near Hebron, and told the Mesalmeh family that their son was the main suspect in the search for the attacker. Several additional members of the family may have been detained, according to the reports.

According to the Ma'an News Agency security forces also arrested 15 Paleostinians in raid across the West Bank overnight Wednesday.

Security forces also arrested several suspected accessories to the attack in the al-Aroub refugee camp south of Jerusalem.

Paleostinians thew rocks at Israeli cars Thursday as they passed the spot where the attack happened. There were no reports of injuries or damage.

On Wednesday night a Paleostinian vehicle hit the soldiers, who were standing by the side of Route 60 near al-Aroub. The vehicle was identified as a large white commercial truck, and a van matching the description was later found by IDF troops.

In a graphic video posted online which appeared to show the incident, the three soldiers are clearly visible on the side of the road as traffic passed. The white van approached from the left-hand side and, without slowing, plowed into the soldiers and drove off.
Update from Ynet at 10:15 a.m. ET:
An Israeli security force said Thursday that an initial investigation into what was believed to be a vehicular terror attack Wednesday night in Gush Etzion was actually a hit and run.

Miscreants Misbehave On Temple Mount, Police Insert Themselves
[Ynet] Holy site closed, then reopened as right-wing Jewish activists waited to enter to hold prayer vigil for shooting victim Yehuda Glick; Paleostinians throw rocks and launch fireworks at police, one Paleostinian maimed

The Temple Mount compound was closed to visitors on Wednesday morning shortly after Paleostinians clashed with security forces, throwing rocks and launching fireworks, as a large group of right-wing activists waited at the entrance to the holy site. One Paleostinian was maimed in the festivities.

The site was reopened shortly after, highlighting its volatile nature, as tensions between Jews, Arabs and security forces rise.

The right-wing activists came to the site to conduct a prayer vigil for the quick wellbeing of Yehuda Glick, a right-wing activist who was shot last week. Glick is one of the leaders of a movement seeking to enable Jews to pray at the Temple Mount, currently only permitted to Moslems, and he was shot outside of a conference which centered on the issue.

As the door of the visitors' entrance opened, masked Paleostinians began throwing stones and fireworks at the area which was surrounded by massive police forces, and a 'battery' of fireworks aimed at the security forces' entrance was also fired as they fled into the mosque.

One Paleostinian was maimed during the festivities, and while he was being evacuated to a Red Islamic Thingy ambulance awaiting him, Paleostinian youths attempted to use the opportunity to enter the compound, but were blocked by security forces.

MK Hanin Zoabi (Balad) and MK Ibrahim Sarsur (Raam-Taal) arrived at the Temple Mount on Wednesday morning as part of a tour by the High Follow-Up Committee for Arab Citizens of Israel and were denied entrance along with the rest of the group.

Police forces entered the compound, as the rioters fled to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, from which they continued to pelt the police with stones, light fireworks and spray police with fire extinguishers.

After initially deciding to close the area to visitors, and then reopening the area, Jerusalem police decided to lift the checkpoints slowing the Moslem entrance to the area, but the rioters continued to target the police, lighting maimed a few.

Assaf Freed, an advocate of Jewish prayer at the Temple Mount, said to Ynet, "We came to the Temple Mount to say we are not scared and we will not give in to terror, a week after the dark liquidation attempt Yehuda Glick.

"If they came to harm one Yehuda Glick, there will be thousands of Jews here. We asked police to let us enter in big groups, but I was told that it depends on the evaluation of the situation," Freed said.

Freed added that the activists intended arrive "with masks in the image of Yehuda Glick. It's not a provocation.
Yes it is.
Those who are provoking here are the Arabs."
Also true, and the Arabs started it.
Jews are prohibited from wearing any type of shawls or Jewish symbols, and Jews who go up to the Temple Mount are considered 'visitors' and are given strict instructions not to pray or kneel at the site, in line with the status-quo at the flashpoint site, which is the third holiest site in Islam and Judaism's holiest.

The flashpoint al-Aqsa mosque and adjacent neighborhoods have seen months of violence, with the mosque compound a rallying point for Paleostinian resistance to perceived Jewish attempts to take control of it.
The Jews have controlled it since June, 1967, guys. Fussing about it is sooooo last century.

#1  Time for Israel to do some "urban remodeling" and remove the Al Aqsa mosque from Jerusalem's skyline. Just bulldoze it flat with tanks, and machine-gun the muzzies that try to stop it. These people need a good axehandle upside the head to get them to behave. If they won't behave after that, shoot them. They're useless to the civilized world anyway.

Three IDF Soldiers Hurt In Gush Etzion Terror Attack
[Ynet] Mere hours after Ibrahim al-Akari kills Border Patrol officer in Jerusalem attack, a Paleostinian vehicle runs over Israeli soldiers near a refugee camp.

Israel Police said a large commercial vehicle with Paleostinian plates rammed into three IDF soldiers standing near a pillbox by al-Arroub on Wednesday.

Magen David Adom rescue personnel confirmed three soldiers suffered moderate-to-severe injuries near a Paleostinian refugee camp close to the Gush Etzion Junction.

The vehicle escaped towards Hebron; security forces are conducting searches of the area and placing barricades to catch the suspect.

Earlier Wednesday, Ibrahimal-Akari, a Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, member from Shuafat, plowed his van into two separate crowds of Israelis, killing a Border Patrol officer and wounding 12 others.

On Wednesday evening, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called in the defense minister, internal security minister, chief of police, and other officials for a consultation in the wake of the terror attack in Jerusalem.

Jerusalem police also decided to coordinate with the Jerusalem Light Rail's managing firm, CityPass, to place concrete barriers near stations, in order to prevent further attempts at vehicular rampage. The first barriers were placed in French Hill stations in the late evening.

Vehicle used in terror attack found in al-Arroub

[Ynet] Vehicle used to plow into three IDF soldiers near at the al-Arroub junction was discovered inside the nearby Paleostinian refugee camp. The driver fled on foot.
The Times of Israel adds:
IDF forces hunt for driver who ran over soldiers in West Bank

A full-scale manhunt was underway for the Paleostinian driver of a vehicle who rammed into three IDF soldiers on a West Bank road Wednesday evening in what appeared to be that day's second vehicular terror attack.

Two of the soldiers were moderately hurt and one sustained light injuries, Israel Radio reported. They were evacuated to hospitals in Jerusalem for treatment, and a hospital official said there was no immediate threat to their lives.

Palestinians Riot Across Capital After Deadly Terror Attack
[IsraelTimes] Following a deadly terrorist attack Wednesday afternoon, Paleostinians rioted in Jerusalemâs Old City and outside its Damascus Gate, burning garbage and throwing stones, hours after an East Jerusalem man rammed his car into a group of pedestrians in a terror attack, killing one man.

In the Old City, two Paleostinians sprayed coppers with tear gas near one of the gates to the Temple Mount and fled into the Temple Mount compound. No injuries were reported but one suspect was tossed in the clink
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
Police also arrested a Waqf guard on suspicion of threatening police, Israel Radio reported.

Dozens of rioters threw stones and burned garbage outside the Old City's Damascus Gate. Israeli security forces arrested at least four people who threw stones and dispersed the rioters with tear gas.

Another three Paleostinians, one a minor, were arrested near the Rockefeller Museum, outside the Old City's Flower Gate after throwing stones at police. No injuries were reported.

Arab rioters launched fireworks and threw stones and Molotov cocktails at police in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Shuafat, where the perpetrator of Wednesday's attack was from. Paleostinian media reported that the festivities began when police attempted to reach his home.

Paleostinians also rioted in the neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah, near the location of the attack.

Wednesday's riots were the latest in weeks of unrest in the capital and came after an Arab driver plowed his vehicle into a crowd of people at a light rail station along the seam line between East and West Jerusalem late Wednesday morning, killing one Border Police officer and injuring 14 more people.

The perpetrator, identified as 48-year-old Ibrahim al-Akary from Shuafat in East Jerusalem, was killed by police.

A similar attack took place two weeks earlier at another train station along the seam line when a Paleostinian man from the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan drove his car onto the platform of the Ammunition Hill train station, killing two and injuring several. Police shot and killed the man after he attempted to flee the scene.

2 Drivers Plow Into Israelis as Tensions Rise in Jerusalem
[NY Times] Amid heightened tensions over an important holy site, two drivers, in separate incidents, plowed their cars into Israelis on Wednesday, and Jordan recalled its ambassador from Israel.

Israeli police said at least one of the crashes, in which a Paleostinian drove into pedestrians in Jerusalem, killing one and injuring a dozen, was "a terrorist attack." In the second incident, in the West Bank, a driver who has yet to be identified ran over three soldiers, injuring them in what the military suspected was another deliberate attack.
Yes, it was. Running over Israelis is all the rage among the Palestinians at the moment. Nice of the Gray Lady to notice.
If it was, the crash would be the third such assault on pedestrians in recent weeks, raising fears of a possible new Paleostinian intifada, or uprising.
No judgement from the NYT journalist about whether or not it's a bad thing to kill random people, one of whom happened to be Druze, and not Jewish at all. But 100% a proud Israeli, which clearly is beyond the understanding of the New York Times.

#1  The only way this will stop is if the Israelis get fed up enough to drive every Muslim from their borders (including Gaza and the West Bank), lock the borders tight, and shoot anyone trying to get back in. I personally have no problem with that.

Jordan recalls envoy to Israel
Jordan on Wednesday recalled its ambassador to Israel in protest against what it described as Israeli "violations" in occupied Jerusalem and its holy sites, the first time it has done so since the countries made peace in 1994, Jordanian officials said.
How about persuading your cousins not to explode themselves at holy sites?
Israel last week closed for a day the compound housing Al Aqsa mosque amid increasing Israeli- Palestinian violence. The move infuriated Jordanian King Abdullah, who is custodian of the sacred compound that also houses the Dome of the Rock mosque.
He's not so infuriated as to risk assassination by fixing the root core problem...
On Wednesday, a Palestinian man rammed a minivan into a crowded train platform in occupied east Jerusalem and then attacked people with an iron bar after leaving the vehicle, killing one person and injuring 13 in what authorities called a terror attack.

Syria Army Retakes Gas Fields from Jihadists
[AnNahar] The Syrian army on Wednesday recaptured two key gas fields and a gas company in central Homs province, less than a week after their seizure by jihadists, a monitoring group said.

"Regime forces and pro-regime militia retook control of the Jhar and Mahr gas fields, as well as the Hayyan gas company in the east of Homs province," said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The facilities had fallen into the hands of the Islamic State

(IS) jihadist group late last week.

"Jhar and Hayyan are particularly important because they feed Homs city and Damascus the gas supplies needed to produce electricity," said Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman.

The facilities are near the Shaer gas field, parts of which are still under IS control after a deadly attack late last month, though the army is advancing in its bid to recapture it fully, said Abdel Rahman.

"The army's advances come amid fierce fighting and heavy regime air raids against IS positions. These gas facilities are simply too important for the regime to let go," he told AFP.

State news agency SANA also reported the advance.

"The army is advancing in Shaer... and has killed many terrorists," said SANA.

IS has targeted oil and gas facilities in Iraq and Syria as it seeks funds for its fight to seize territory for a self-proclaimed Islamic "caliphate".

Shelling Kills 13 Children in Damascus
[AnNahar] Shelling of a rebel-held area in the northeast of the Syrian capital killed 13 children Wednesday, a monitor said revising an earlier toll, with activists saying a school had been hit.

"The number of children... killed by mortar fire on areas of Qabun district has risen to 13," said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, adding: "The toll might rise because several others were critically injured."

Activists blamed forces loyal to Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

for the killings, which they described as a "massacre of children".

The Syrian Revolution General Commission, a network of activists across the war-torn country, said the shelling hit a school, and an activist group in the neighborhood shared a grisly video of the aftermath.

The footage posted on the group's Facebook page showed the bodies of at least nine children lying on a white tiled floor, some of them surrounded by smears of blood.

Rebels and the army reached a truce in Qabun earlier this year, but activists say there have been frequent violations.

Army Thwarts Infiltration by Gunmen into Arsal
[AnNahar] The army opened fire overnight Tuesday at gunnies who tried to infiltrate into Lebanese territories through the northeastern border, media reports said.

Armed men reportedly targeted army posts in the northeastern border town of Arsal, compelling soldiers to retaliate by opening fire and forcing them to retreat, using light and medium weapons.

This is the second infiltration attempt in less than two days.

Army Arrests 2 Dangerous Fugitives in Sidon, 7 'Terrorists' in Dinniyeh
[AnNahar] The army on Wednesday placed in durance vile
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
a number of suspects in the northern district of Dinniyeh, the southern city of Sidon and the Bekaa towns of Taanayel and Brital.

"As the army carried out security measures in the outskirts of Dinniyeh, troops arrested six Lebanese men and a Syrian on suspicion of belonging to terrorist groups, after finding on their mobile phones terrorist pictures and voice records related to inciting against the army and monitoring its patrols," the Army Command said in a statement.
Yes, that does seem a tad suspicious.
In an earlier statement, the army said it "raided desperados in Sir al-Dinniyeh and seized weapons and military equipment in the house of Adnan Hussein Abdullah Khodr."

The army has been carrying out several raids in Dinniyeh and has arrested several suspects, including Ahmed Miqati who was planning for terrorist acts in the North district.

Meanwhile in the South, "the Paleostinian Mahmoud Mohammed Dahshan and the Lebanese Mohammed Ismail al-Naqib were arrested in Sidon for belonging to gangs and plotting terrorist acts," the Army Command said.

Elsewhere, state-run National News agency said "a patrol from the army intelligence arrested four people who were in a black Grand Cherokee in Taanayel."

"Four people from al-Rashaini family were arrested for possessing weapons and hand grenades in Taanayel," the Army Command announced later in the day. "They were monitoring a person to kidnap him," it added.

The four men were taken for interrogation, NNA said, identifying one of them as G. R.

Separately, security forces seized "machines for manufacturing Captagon and other narcotic pills in raids on the houses of A. A. M. and W. W. M. in Brital," said NNA. The machines and the narcotic pills were confiscated.
