Al Qaeda Terrorist Wanted by FBI Crisscrossed U.S.-Mexican Border Before Killed In Pakistan
More about the gentleman killed in Pakistan. A taste:
[JudicalWatch] An Al Qaeda terrorist on the FBI's most wanted list for years crossed back and forth into the United States from Mexico to meet fellow myrmidon Islamists in Texas and piloted an aircraft into the Cielo Dorado airfield in Anthony, New Mexico, law enforcement sources tell Judicial Watch.

The same Al Qaeda operative helped plan the 2009 bombing of talk-show superstar Oprah Winfrey?s reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,...
studios and the iconic Sears Tower (renamed Willis Tower), a story that Judicial Watch broke just last week. His name is Adnan G. El Shukrijumah (also known as "Javier Robles") and over the weekend he was killed in Pakistain, according to military officials in the Islamic republic.

One killed as suicide bomber targets Kabul school: officials
[DAWN] A jacket wallah struck at a high school attached to the French cultural centre in Kabul on Thursday, killing at least one person and wounding 15 others, officials said.

The attack came just hours after another suicide bomber targeted a bus carrying Afghan troops in the suburbs of the city, killing at least six soldiers.

The Afghan capital has been hit by a series of deadly Taliban attacks in recent weeks, highlighting the fragility of the security situation as NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and organization....
combat forces leave after more than a decade of war.

Police chief Abdul Rahman Rahimi told news hounds the bomber went kaboom! in the audience watching a theatre show at the Istiqlal High School which is attached to the French cultural centre.

"A suicide bomber went kaboom! among the audience in Istiqlal High School (French Cultural Center)," Afghan interior ministry front man Sediqi Sediqqi told AFP.

Deputy Interior Minister Mohammed Ayub Salangi said at least one person was killed and 15 others were maimed in the attack.

University President gunned down in Mogadishu
MOGADISHU, Somalia -- The Acting President of SIMAD University and Lecturer has been shot and killed at KPP junction in Mogadishu's Hodon district on Monday according to officials, Garowe Online reports.
What's more surprising: that a university president was gunned down in Mogadishu or that Somalia has a university?
Late Ibrahim Mohamud Hamud was gunned down while driving into SIMAD compound at 9:00 AM in the morning, witnesses and fellow lecturers unveiled.

Speaking to the media at Madina hospital where Hamud's body was brought, Banadir regional administration spokesman Ali Seeko said, the security forces are on manhunt for the assailants who fled from the scene of the crime.

"The chief aim is to annihilate key figures including academicians," he added, pointing accusing fingers at cruel networks.

Nobody claimed credit for the shooting but as has been the case, Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab group targets government officials and foreigners in broad day light attacks in volatile Mogadishu.

Federal Government of Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has served as the head of SIMAD University that more recently graduated 2, 0000 students.

Senior Libya Dawn commander killed near Sabratha; Misrata sends reinforcements
[Libya Herald] Units from the Misratan-based Libya Shield Central brigade are reported to have arrived last night in Sabratha to reinforce Libya Dawn in the strategically crucial battle with the Libya National Army for control of the western coastal road. Some 150 to 200 vehicles are said to have been sent

Former Qaddafi brigade member leader sentenced to death in Misrata
[Libya Herald] The court in Misrata has sentenced a former Qadaffy brigade leader to death. Salah Al-Fatouri Salah Al-Shushan was found guilty by the Khoms Criminal Court, which for security reasons meets in Misrata, of having having attacked Misrata with a convoy of eight tanks in 2011. He was also found guilty of bombing and killing civilians in the city.
Snared by the wrong Libyan government, was he...
Shushan, whose trial began in 2013, was captured during the liberation of Zliten just days before that of the capital. He has since been held in Khoms which is the reason its court conducted the trial.

A number of former Qadaffy regime figures have been found guilty of human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
crimes in Misrata and sentenced to death. None, however, has been executed so far. In Libyan law, the death sentence has to be endorsed by the High Court, and the process can take years.

Libyan law also incorporates the Sharia practice whereby a murderer sentenced to death can be forgiven by members of the victim's family, in which case the sentence is reduced to life imprisonment.

Deadly air raid hits Libya militia on Tunisia border
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] An air strike hit a Libyan militia post on the border with Tunisia Friday, killing one person, as the United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
warned a spate of bombing raids was damaging peace efforts.

The Libya Shield
...a conglomerate of pro-Islamist militias deployed across Libya. It reports to the Libyan defense ministry and is organized like a real army unit. Its commander used to head a Benghazi brigade called Free Libya Martyrs...
militia accused forces loyal to the internationally recognized government of carrying out the attack close to the Ras Jedir border crossing.

"One Libya Shield member was killed and between three and five were maimed," front man Hafedh Muammar told AFP.

Libya Shield forms part of the Islamist-backed militia alliance which seized the capital and much of the west in August, forcing the internationally backed government to take refuge in the remote east.

Tunisian defense ministry front man Belhassen Oueslati told AFP that the country's air space had not been violated in the raid but that air force patrols had been stepped up in the border region.

Forces loyal to the government have carried out a series of air strikes in western Libya in recent days, drawing condemnation from the U.N. mission to the North African country, which said it was undermining its efforts to broker an end to the unrest.

"The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) condemns in the strongest terms the recent air raids and the escalation in violence in Libya," it said.

"UNSMIL also expresses deep concern at the negative effects the military escalation is having on the process of political dialogue."

The U.N. mission announced on Wednesday that Special Representative Bernardino Leon will lead a new round of negotiations between the warring parties on December 9.

"The continuing escalation in the violence and statements threatening more military action do not help create the atmosphere conducive to hold this political dialogue." UNSMIL said.

On Thursday, forces loyal to the internationally recognized government hit what they said was a militia position in the south of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
.

But their militia rivals, who have set up their own administration in the capital, said the strike hit a poultry farm.

On Tuesday, air strikes on the coastal city of Zuara, between Tripoli and Ras Jedir, killed seven people, including five African migrant workers.

Forces loyal to prominent former general Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
, who is now allied with the internationally recognized government, control the al-Woutia air base in western Libya.

Haftar's forces have been battling Islamist militia in second city Benghazi since October. He has also vowed to end militia control of the capital within three months.

Tunisia ex-PM quits own Islamist party
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Tunisia's former prime minister and Ennahda Secretary-General Hamadi Jebali said on his Facebook page Thursday that he was stepping down from the Islamist party, citing disagreement with the party's policies.

Jebali said that he had joined the movement in the early 1970s in the name of "freedom and justice" against "tyranny and corruption."

He spent many years in prison under the regime of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, who was ousted in the 2011 revolution that launched the Arab Spring.

Jebali said Tunisia now faced "huge challenges," in particular the threat of a return to "tyranny and corruption."

"I chose to be among those activists eager to ensure the peaceful revolution triumphed ... I have great difficulty in remaining faithful to this position given the state of Ennahda today. I find myself no longer agreeing with its choices," he said.

In general elections in October, Ennahda was beaten by the Nidaa Tounes party and has decided not to field a candidate in the presidential election, whose second round is set for Dec. 21.

However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
the party has not ruled out collaborating with Nidaa Tounes, despite that party's virulent anti-Islamist stance and the presence in its ranks of former Ben Ali regime officials.

Ennahda's position has been hard to swallow for some members of the party which was ruthlessly repressed under Ben Ali.

Jebali became prime minister in December 2011 after the country's first free elections that were won by Ennahda. He quit during the political crisis that followed the murder of prominent leftwing opposition leader Chokri Belaid in February 2013.

Female Suicide Bombers Kill Four at Busy Nigeria Market
[AnNahar] Two female jacket wallahs killed at least four people at a busy market in northern Nigeria's largest city Kano on Wednesday, less than two weeks after a horrific attack at the city's central mosque.

Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
has been accused of deploying a wave of female bombers in recent months, including in Kano, and blame for the latest violence will likely fall on the Islamist Death Eaters.

Kano state police commissioner Adenrele Shinaba said the blast at the Kantin Kwari market in Kano city was "a twin suicide kaboom carried out by two maidens of tender years in hijab."

"They came by the market and asked to be directed to a public convenience. The bombs detonated, killing them and four others," he told Agence La Belle France-Presse. At least seven others were maimed, he added.

The leader of the market traders union, Abdullahi Abubakar, said the blasts hit a parking area rather than the main market.

He estimated that the attackers were in their late teens and said they were accompanied by a man who disappeared after the girls blew themselves up.

Blood stained the walls and floors of affected buildings following the blasts. Angry youths converged on the area and were kept at bay by police and soldiers, an AFP correspondent said.

The bombers' remains were then taken away.

Kano, the key city in the mainly Moslem north, has been among the places hardest hit by Boko Haram's five-year uprising aimed at creating a caliphate in the region.

A November 29 attack on worshipers attending Friday prayers at the central mosque killed at least 120 people and injured 270 others -- the second deadliest attack in the ancient city.

Boko Haram gunnies rampaged across Kano in January 2012, killing at least 185 people.

Last month's mosque bombing apparently targeted the influential Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, who had previously called on citizens to take up arms against Boko Haram.

Sanusi was not at the mosque at the time of the attack but analysts said the Islamists may have been trying to send him a message after several previous liquidation attempts against other Islamic leaders who spoke out against extremism.

Kano was attacked by female bombers four times in one week in July, while several similar attacks have hit a series of northern cities in recent weeks, including the Borno state capital Maiduguri, where Boko Haram was founded more than a decade ago.

As rescue workers sifted through the damage of the north's latest bombing, political heavyweights were gathering in the capital Abuja and the commercial hub of Lagos in the south for party conventions ahead of February 14 polls.

President Goodluck Jonathan
... 14th President of Nigeria. He was Governor of Bayelsa State from 9 December 2005 to 28 May 2007, and was sworn in as Vice President on 29 May 2007. Jonathan is a member of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP). He is a lover of nifty hats, which makes him easily recognizable unless someone else in the room is wearing a neat chapeau...
is expected to be nominated without contest by the ruling People's Democratic Party in Abuja.

While he is all but certain to be on the ballot, some believe the deteriorating security crisis in the north could complicate his re-election prospects.

Northerners hit by Boko Haram violence have voiced increasing frustration with Jonathan's failure to stem the bloodshed and questioned the military's competence in responding to the insurgency.

In Lagos, the opposition All Progressives Congress was set to nominate a northern Moslem to challenge Jonathan.

Former military dictator Muhammadu Buhari and ex-vice-president Atiku Abubakar were seen as frontrunners for the nomination.

Rocket attack targets US forces on Yemen base
Al Qaeda affiliates fired rockets at Yemen's largest military airbase Thursday, saying they were aiming at US targets at the facility. Ansar al Sharia claimed responsibility for the attack, tweeting that its fighters targeted the US section within Al Anad airbase in retaliation for US attempts to rescue American hostage Luke Somers.

Yemeni Defense Ministry officials said six rockets were fired at the airbase. They said that some Yemeni troops were injured. A rocket exploded near an oil storage facility, which resulted in a fire but no major damage. The rockets missed their intended targets, a Yemeni Defense Ministry official said.

#1  Twitter is a very important international communications channel for ISIS. When Twitter began removing ISIS accounts, ISIS responded by announcing executives of Twitter were targets.

Here is communications amongst Islamic terrorists within the past 24 hours:

"We ask #JN. Do u think it is good to bomb in West subways?"

Twitter accounts in the conversation were the following:

@Idib_JN, @JN_Hama, @JnDar3a_2, @JnHalab, @JnHoms, @JN_Dimashq

International Kurdish twitter users happened across this conversation and forwarded the information to the German BKA and the United States FBI.

It appears terrorists in the west are in place, they have their bombs, and they are establishing their targets.

#9  YPG and YPJ offensive strategy in Kobane are advancing slowly to prevent casualties to their own forces. They are still very limited in resources both human and material.

This works only if supply lines are severed. They have guerrillas interdicting supply lines with support from coalition airstrikes up to 60 km outside of Kobane against resupply convoys on key roads.

ISIS are beginning to abandon convoys and are trying to continue resupply men and material via one car at a time.

Posted by: Steve White || 12/11/2014 14:01 Comments || Top||

#11  Steve,

Yes. The Kurds have said that the war between them and ISIS type organizations has lasted a year and a half in the Kobane area.

Only when the ISIS was able to quickly get their hands on heavy American weapons after over running Iraqi forces did ISIS have the power through out the region to push the Kurds back.

During the year and a half, the Kurds have always been able to move around in the region, in small units behind ISIS lines.

Sometimes they get in trouble, I have video of such situations where a small band of Kurds are sighted, a battle occurs and they are eventually over whelmed, but most of the time they know how to stay out of sight, until they strike.

Long Jail Terms to 11 Islamists in UAE over Ties to Syria Jihadists
[AnNahar] A top Emirati court on Tuesday sentenced 11 Islamists to up to life imprisonment for links to al-Qaeda-affiliated turbans as well as rebels in Syria, official media reported.

The Federal Supreme Court convicted them of bomb-making and of joining and financing al-Qaeda franchise al-Nusra
...the current nom de guerre of al-Qaeda in the Levant, which isn't to be confused with al-Qaeda in Iraq and the Levant...
Front and Islamist rebel group Ahrar al-Sham
...a Syria jihadi group made up of Islamists and salafists, not that there's that much difference, formed into a brigade. They make up the main element of the Islamic Front but they don't profess adoration of al-Qaeda and they've been fighting (mainly for survival) against the Islamic State. Their leadership was wiped out at a single blow by a suicide kaboom at a crowded basement meeting in September, 2014...
, both in Syria.

Four defendants, who were tried in their absence, were handed life sentences while seven others were locked away
I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece!
for between three and 15 years, the WAM news agency said.

They include six foreigners -- four with Comoros Islands passports and two Syrians -- who will be deported after serving their jail terms, according to local media.

Four other defendants were acquitted.

The UAE in November released a long list of what it branded "terrorist organizations," topped by the Moslem Brüderbund and al-Qaeda.

The UAE has not seen any of the pro-reform protests that have swept other Arab countries since 2011, including fellow Gulf states Bahrain and Oman.

But authorities have stepped up a crackdown on dissent and calls for democratic reform. Most of those targeted have been Islamists.

In August, the UAE toughened anti-terrorism laws in a bid to stamp out terror financing, hostage-taking, human trafficking and money laundering.

Bomb Kills One, Wounds Another in Bahrain
[AnNahar] A kaboom Tuesday killed one person in a Shiite village in western Bahrain, according to the authorities, who have faced years of simmering unrest since crushing pro-democracy protests in 2011.

The kaboom in Karzakan killed a Bahraini and slightly maimed an Asian national, the interior ministry said, describing it as a "terrorist" attack.

Late on Monday a policeman was killed in a separate attack in Damistan, a nearby Shiite village, the authorities said.

It was the first deadly attack on the security forces since parliamentary elections in November that were boycotted by the main Iranian catspaw, which is calling for democratic reforms in the Sunni-ruled kingdom.

The vote was the first in the Gulf state since the Sunni authorities quelled the 2011 Shiite-led protests.

Small but strategic Bahrain, home to the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet, remains deeply divided three years after the month-long demonstrations.

Protests still frequently break out in Bahrain's Shiite villages, sometimes sparking festivities with police.

The main opposition Al-Wefaq movement quickly distanced itself from the Damistan attack, stressing its "rejection" of violence.

Attacks against the security forces have increased this year, with three coppers -- including one from the UAE -- killed in a kaboom in a Shiite area on March 3.

Another policeman was killed in a kaboom in a Shiite village in February during protests marking the third anniversary of the failed uprising.

Homes of alleged militants' families burned down in Chechnya
[RFE/RL] Chechen locals say authorities are carrying out Ramzan Kadyrov's orders to destroy the homes of relatives of alleged militants held responsible for recent attacks. Residents in the village of Yandi said that masked men arrived in more than a dozen vehicles late on December 8 and set several homes on fire.

On December 6, after 14 policemen were killed, Kadyrov announced that relatives of militants involved in the killings would be evicted from Chechnya and their homes "razed down to the basement."

The Moscow-based human rights group Memorial said that six homes of relatives of suspected Chechen militants, including three men killed during the attack in Grozny, have been burned to the ground.

Iraq
Sadr tells his militia to ready for anti-ISIS 'jihad'
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iraq's powerful Shiite holy man Moqtada Tater al-Sadr
... the Iranian catspaw holy man who was 22 years old in 2003 and was nearing 40 in 2010. He spends most of his time in Iran, safely out of the line of fire, where he's learning to be an ayatollah...
has put his militia on alert to battle bully boyz belonging to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) for the city of Samarra, home to a Shiite mosque whose destruction eight years ago plunged the country into sectarian war.

Sadr's office said the announcement was a response to the "exceptional conditions and imminent danger to the sacred city of Samarra from the legions of terrorists," a reference to the Sunni Moslem ISIS fighters who surround Samarra.

It said Sadr had ordered fighters of his Shiite 'Peace Brigades' to be "fully prepared to answer the call of jihad within 48 hours" and to await further instructions. The statement was dated Dec. 10.
Mookie unfortunately can't come to the front with you -- I think his 'asthma' is flaring up right now. But he'll be at the party HQ where he'll eat a goat in your honor...
Central Samarra is in the hands of the Iraqi army and several Shiite militia who have spearheaded the Shiite-led government's battle against ISIS, which controls of much of north and west Iraq as well as swathes of Syria.

Sadr's Peace Brigades left the city two months ago, but his latest statement suggested they could mobilize to return if ISIS fighters stationed at the approaches to the Tigris River city start to encroach on the urban center itself.

Samarra holds potent symbolism for Iraqis. In February 2006 Sunni bully boyz blew up a shrine to the ninth century Imam Askari, triggering Dire Revenge attacks by Shiites which tipped Iraq into years of sectarian violence.

ISIS controls the eastern and western desert approaches to the city, 125 km northwest of Baghdad.

The army holds the road from the south leading to Samarra, but the towns of Mu'tasim and Ishaqi flanking that road are largely controlled by the radical bad boys, while there have been heavy festivities in the village of Mukaishifa to the north.

Jihadist Attack in Iraq Kills Nine Shiite Militiamen
[AnNahar] A suicide boom-mobile killed nine Shiite murderous Moslems in an attack near the Iraqi city of Tikrit on Wednesday, army and hospital sources said.

The suicide kaboomer rammed his explosives-laden vehicle into a gathering of Shiite fighters around 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of Tikrit.

An army lieutenant colonel said nine of the Shiite volunteers were killed and 13 other people were maimed, including five civilians.

A medical source in Samarra, further south, confirmed the toll.

The past few days have seen a surge in violence south of Tikrit and around Samarra between pro-government forces and the Islamic State

Joint operations by the army, Kurdish peshmerga fighters and Shiite militia groups have, with Iranian backing, squeezed IS fighters out of some of their positions in eastern Iraq.

The jihadists, who hold Tikrit and have positions around Samarra, have launched numerous attacks around both cities to maintain pressure on pro-government forces.

of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) for the city of Samarra, home to a Shiite mosque whose destruction eight years ago plunged the country into sectarian war.

The army holds the road from the south leading to Samarra, but the towns of Mu'tasim and Ishaqi flanking that road are largely controlled by the radical murderous Moslems, while there have been heavy festivities in the village of Mukaishifa to the north.

Palestinian Teen Said Injured By IDF Fire During Riot In West Bank
[IsraelTimes] Israeli troops shot and maimed a 14-year-old Paleostinian boy in the head Wednesday during a clash at Jelazoun refugee camp in the West Bank, Paleostinian security officials and medics said. The IDF maintained that no live fire had been used.

A medical source told AFP the boy, whose name was not given, was taken to a hospital in nearby Ramallah in ?very serious? condition.

The officials said the clash erupted in response to the death earlier of senior Paleostinian official Ziad Abu Ein in a confrontation with Israeli troops in the West Bank village of Turmusaya.

An Israeli army front man said troops at Jelazoun were confronted by ?a riot of 50 Paleostinians? They hurled rocks and rolled burning tires at the force.?

?The forces used riot dispersal means,? he added, without specifying, but a spokeswoman added that no live fire was used.

The youth was given first aid by an army doctor before being taken to the Paleostinian hospital.

Palestinian official dies after beaten by Israeli troops
A senior Palestinian official died on Wednesday after being struck in a confrontation with Israeli forces during a protest march in the West Bank. The Palestinian leadership vowed Dire Revenge to respond to what president Mahmoud Abbas called a “brutal assault” that led to the death of Ziad Abu Ein, who was in charge of the issue of Israeli settlements for the Palestinian Authority.

A former PA deputy minister, Abu Ein, 55, was the most senior Palestinian official to die in a confrontation with Israeli forces in recent years.

His death was "a barbaric act that cannot be tolerated or accepted," Abbas said, declaring three days of mourning.
Apparently the fact that he clutched his chest, rolled back his eyes, and squeaked, "I think I'm having a myocardial infarction!" wasn't considered...
The confrontation erupted as Abu Ein took part in a march of some 300 Palestinians who intended to plant olive trees as a symbolic act of protest against Israeli settlements.

The group was confronted by Israeli soldiers in the West Bank village of Turmusayya. Teargas was fired, three soldiers grabbed Abu Ein and he was struck in the chest.
What did he have in his hands at that moment?
Abu Ein fell and an Israeli army doctor rushed to treat him before he was taken to hospital.

Ahmed Bitawi, the director of the Ramallah hospital, said Abu Ein "was martyred after being beaten in the chest".

Abbas said his death would not go unanswered.
"We shall have Dire Revenge!!"
"We will take the necessary measures after the results of the investigation into the incident."

The Israeli army, or IDF, said it was "reviewing the circumstances" of the incident and had proposed a joint investigation with the Palestinians. A statement said Israeli forces had been confronted with "approximately 200 rioters" during the incident.

"Forces halted the progress of the rioters... using riot dispersal means," the statement said. "The IDF is reviewing the circumstances of the participation of Ziad Abu Ein, and his later death."
Update at 930 ET from Ynet:
Palestinian autopsy reveals minister died from heart attack:

Palestinian-led autopsy of Ziad Abu Ein congruent with Israeli claims, says he died from stress-induced heart attack, but say attack, lack of medical care at fault; Israeli doctor: His heart was already functioning at less than 80%..

Philippine troops kill two BIFF militants
[Mindanao Examiner] Philippine soldiers killed two separatist militants in a gun battle that erupted Wednesday afternoon in Datu Unsay town in Maguindanao province.

Troops were on patrol when two motorcycle gunmen opened fire on them, triggering a firefight that left attackers, who were members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters, dead. Another group of gunmen, backing those who were slain, also attacked the soldiers, but fled when security forces engaged them in a running firefight that lasted about 15 minutes.

Capt. Jo Ann Petinglay, a spokeswoman for the 6th Infantry Division, said one of those slain in the fighting was among those who killed two army soldiers guarding a hospital on October 22. Just last month, security forces captured BIFF militant Zainudin Kawilan, who was also tagged as behind the killing of the soldiers in the hospital. Kawilan was a follower of BIFF commander Sukarno Sapal.

Abu Sayyaf frees Malaysian hostage
[Mindanao Examiner] Abu Sayyaf militants have freed a kidnapped Malaysian fish breeder after six months in captivity, but the group is still holding a Malaysian policeman in the southern Philippine province of Sulu where ransom negotiations are ongoing.

Chan Sai Chuin was reportedly spirited out of Sulu on a speedboat by Malaysian negotiators and has returned to Sabah where his anxious family waited. He was kidnapped along with a Filipino worker on June 16 this year. The fate of the unidentified Filipino is not known.

A Filipino negotiator, who is also a Moro National Liberation Front leader, reportedly helped in the Malaysian negotiation, but it was not known how much ransom was paid to the Abu Sayyaf.

The Abu Sayyaf is still holding Malaysian policeman Kons Zakiah Aleip, who was seized on June 12 this year following a battle in Sabah that killed another policeman. Aside from him, the militants are still holding captive Japanese treasure hunter Katayama Mamaito, and a few Filipinos.

Army Kicks Off Military Operation on Outskirts of Arsal, Causing Casualties in Ranks of Militants
[AnNahar] The Lebanese Army carried out precautionary military operations against posts controlled by gunnies on the outskirts of the northeastern border town of Arsal and the Lebanese al-Qalamoun region, the state-run National News Agency reported on Tuesday.

According to NNA, the military operation was carried out in the towns of Mar Tayba, Wadi Mira, al-Rahwa, Wadi al-Khayl and Wadi Hmeid.

Army helicopters and surveillance planes accompanied the movement of soldiers that inflicted casualties in the ranks of gunnies after illegal crossings were blocked with sand barricades, the news agency reported.

The military also prevented the maimed from entering the town of Arsal, except for Mohammed Hassan al-Hujeiri, who was maimed along with his family members in a room used by gunnies in Wadi Ajram.

NNA said earlier that three people were killed and two others were maimed in a raid by Syrian planes on the outskirts of Arsal in a shelling that directly targeted a house in al-Ajram area.

Front issued a statement accusing a Lebanese drone of targeting the house of Mohammed Hujeiri.

The group said that Hujeiri and one of his children were killed while his wife and the remaining children were maimed.

Arsal Municipality chief Ali Hujeiri told An Nahar newspaper published on Tuesday that warplanes raided the house of shepherd Mohammed Hussein Hujeiri, without confirming the number of casualties or the side responsible for the attack.

The town's peripheries have come under frequent Syrian raids ever since the revolt erupted in March 2011 in the neighboring county.

Arsal has become a key conduit for refugees, rebels and maimed people fleeing strife-torn Syria.

The border posts went up several weeks ago in the town, which was briefly overrun in August by Islamic State

group in Iraq and Syria on Tuesday posted photographs appearing to show jihadists throw a "gay" off a rooftop and then stoning him to death.

"The Islamic court in Wilayet al-Furat decided that a man who has practiced sodomy must be thrown off the highest point in the city, and then stoned to death," read a statement accompanying the images.

Wilayet al-Furat refers to an area stretching across the Syrian-Iraqi frontier, where the Euphrates flows from Syria into Iraq at the Albu Kamal-Qaim border crossing.

One image shows a man whom the jihadists claimed was gay being hurled off a building at an unspecified location in Syria or Iraq. The next shows the man lying on the ground.

The Islamic State in November stoned two men to death in Syria, claiming they were gay.

The group first emerged in Syria's conflict in spring 2013. It has since taken over swathes of Syria and Iraq, imposing a rule of terror.
