Explosives laden vehicle seized in Laghman
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] An explosives laden civilian vehicle containing hundreds of kilograms of kabooms was been seized in the jurisdiction of eastern Laghman province.

Security forces have jugged
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
a terrorist who was transporting these materials to a Taliban capo in Mehtarlam, the picturesque provincial capital of Laghman province for terrorist attacks.

A statement issued Tuesday by NDS states that the raid was conducted in Mashal-e-Kamar area of Qarghai District. 450 kilograms of kabooms, Kalashnikov, anti-tank landmine and other materials for terrorist attacks were placed in the vehicle.

This comes as Taliban have increased their attacks in parts of the country.

Ministry of Interior: Jawand District cleared of militants
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Afghan National Security Forces have taken back Jawand District in northwestern Badghis province from Lions of Islam who had occupied office of the district governor, police headquarters and a number of security check post for over two days.

Security forces on Tuesday morning launched a vast operation against rebels in Jawand District and in the afternoon Ministry of Interior declared the district "cleared of bad boys".

Ministry of Interior confirmed that security forces stepped back from parts of Jawand District during the bad boy attack but it says that the stepping back was tactical.

Bahauddin Qudosi, head of the provincial council of Badghis province had earlier said that office of the district governor, police headquarters and a number of security check posts were abandoned by the officials during the attack.

A specific number of the possible casualties is not yet released.

Jawand is one of the most populated districts in Badghis province.

Three children killed in Benghazi random rocket attack
[Libya Herald] Three children -- two brothers and a sister -- were killed today when a rocket smashed into their home in Benghazi's Belawn distict. Another brother was maimed and is now in intensive care at Benghazi Medical Centre where doctors have been fighting to save his leg.

The three have been named as brothers Mohammed Ziyad Bujaldine, aged two, and Saleh Ziyad Bujaldane, aged twelve, and their sister Mariam, aged eight. The injured brother is Ibrahim, aged ten.

This is not the family's first tragedy as a result of conflict in the city. Last October, the children's uncle, Benghazi Security Directorate Colonel Zakariya Bujaldine was shot outside his home in Belawn, which is near to Hawari district.

A man was killed in missile attacks on Benina airport late this afternoon and 12 others injured, according to the airport manager Osama Mansour Al-Ferjani. He said that 20 missiles had been fired at the airport.

Random missile attacks continue to plague the city. The downtown Tibesti Hotel again took a hit this afternoon, this time on the third floor. On Sunday, three rockets hit the front of the hotel and a fourth landed behind it. There were no casualties as the hotel is closed at present.

Additionally, according to Jalaa Hospital, four Libya National Army soldiers were killed in the past four days, three in Leithi and one in Sabri. Twenty four soldiers had been maimed.

Saudi Warplanes Intensify Raids ahead of Truce, Use Banned Weapons
[ALMANAR.LB] Few hours before a planned truce in Yemen, the US-backed warplanes intensified Arclight airstrikes on several areas across the country, with al-Manar correspondent stressing that internationally banned weapons have been used in the brutal attack.

Khalil al-Omari, our correspondent in the Yemeni capital, said that the Arclight airstrikes on Tuesday hit al-Naqem Mountain and al-Nahda neighborhood in Sanaa.Saudi raids on Yemen

The strikes killed at least 19 people, the correspondent said, adding that the corpse count of the Arclight airstrikes which targeted the province of Taez a day earlier reached 34.

Meanwhile,
...back at the dirigible, Jack stuck the cigar in his mouth, stepped onto the gantry, and asked Got a light, Mac?

Von Schtinken stopped short, lowering the dagger and trying to control his features.

If you light that thing, Herr Armschtröng, he pointed out, his voice tense, we all die!...

al-Omari quoted Yemeni doctor as saying that the Saudi coalition has been using internationally banned weapons.

"The situation is actually tragic since the aggression is harsh and barbaric," doctor Kamala Ramima told al-Manar.

He said that the doctors across hospitals in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
are saying that the injuries indicate that the US-Saudi coalition is using internationally prohibited weapons.

The Saudi attacks come few hours before the five-day humanitarian truce
..The purposes of a truce are twofold: 1.) bring up more arms, ammunition, and reinforcements; and 2.) get the enemy to relax his vigilance. A truce is not the same thing as a ceasefire, and a ceasefire doesn't mean you have to stop shooting...
. Earlier on Sunday, Yemeni army and Ansarullah revolutionaries agreed on the ceasefire, but warned against any violation by the Soddy Arabia

or any of its allies.

Yemen has been since March 26 under brutal aggression by Saudi-US coalition. Thousands have been martyred and injured in the attack, with the vast majority of them are civilians.

Riyadh launched the attack on Yemen in a bid to restore power to Yemen's runaway president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi who is a close ally to Saudi Arabia.

On April 21, Saudi Arabia declared the end of the aggression, dubbed "Decisive Strom," and the start of another campaign called "Restoring Hope."

I just don't really feel any sympathy here for any players. Yemen might be facing famine but you know? they're a sharia land where there is no age of consent because child marriage is applauded as being of the good example of the Great Prophet MoMo (Ptui). so really my only sadness is they can't put up a good fight and bleed the saudis ... they can all kill each other.

Iranian warships will escort Yemen-bound cargo ship
Dubai -- Iranian warships will accompany a cargo ship bound for the Yemeni port of Hodaida, which is held by Iran-allied Houthi fighters, a naval commander was quoted as saying by state news agency IRNA on Tuesday.
This will be entertaining. The mighty Saudi navy versus the mighty Iranian navy?
As I recall, it's the Egyptians patrolling the seaways for the duration. I've no idea how mighty they are.
They're at least as mighty as the Saudis...
The Iran-flagged Iran Shahed cargo ship set sail on Monday and could be intercepted by Saudi-led coalition forces, which are blockading Yemen as part of a military campaign against the Houthis.

“The 34th fleet, which is currently in the Gulf of Aden, has special responsibility to protect the Iranian ammunition humanitarian aid ship,” Admiral Hossein Azad said, referring to a destroyer and support vessel patrolling international waters off Yemen.

A five-day ceasefire in Yemen’s civil war is set to take effect at 11pm (2000 GMT) to allow food and medicine into the blockaded country, which aid groups warn faces a humanitarian catastrophe.
Not that anyone in Yemen did anything to bring the catastrophe about. It was all 'bad luck'...
The Saudi-led coalition has accused Iran of arming the Houthis and routinely intercepts cargoes bound for Yemen. Last month, coalition jets bombed the runway at Sanaa airport to prevent an Iranian cargo plane from landing. Tehran says it is sending only humanitarian aid to Yemen.
Courtesy of the Widows Ammunition Fund...
The Iran Shahed vessel was sailing away from Iran’s coast into the Gulf of Oman at 1334 GMT, ship tracking data on Reuters showed.

Iran’s Fars news agency reported separately that seven activists from the United States and Europe, including from Germany, were on board the ship.
Welcome to the fireworks, you tools!

(ISIS) propaganda, a month after 11 people were arrested for planning terrorist attacks around Barcelona.

The local La Vanguardia newspaper quoted police sources as saying the latest arrests were made in Cornella, a small town near Barcelona.

"With their propaganda and proselytizing activities they were helping the ideology of the terrorist organization Daesh," Spain's Interior Ministry said in a statement, referring to ISIS by its Arabic acronym.

The arrested pair had pledged allegiance to the murderous Moslem group, the statement said, without mentioning the nationalities of the suspects.

On April 8, Barcelona police arrested 11 people suspected of membership in a jihadi cell planning terrorist attacks in Catalonia, the northern region where Barcelona is the capital.

In late March in Badalona, another town near Barcelona, four members of a family were arrested for links to a network recruiting jihadist fighters to go to Syria. Earlier that month, a Moroccan woman was arrested for a major role in recruiting women for ISIS.

2 Swedes, Somali Plead Guilty in NY over Shebab Conspiracy
The mills of Justice grinding slowly.
[AnNahar] Two Swedes and a Somali, handed to the FBI more than two years ago in Africa, pleaded guilty Tuesday to conspiring to aid the al-Qaeda-linked Shabaab group in Somalia, U.S. prosecutors said.

The trio face up to 15 years in an American prison and deportation, prosecutors said in New York.

Prosecutors say Madhi Hashi, 25, from Somalia, and Swedes Ali Yasin Ahmed, 30, and Mohammed Yusuf, 32, were members of the Shabaab krazed killer group in Somalia from December 2008 to August 2012.

Shabaab is blacklisted as a foreign terrorist organization in the United States and federal prosecutors have spearheaded efforts to try foreign terror cases in New York courts in recent years.

The Swedes fought against US-funded African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
forces in Somalia, prosecutors said. Hashi was close to Omar Hammami, the U.S.-born public face of Shabaab who was killed by fellow fighters in 2013, they added.

Yusuf appeared in a Shabaab video to encourage recruits to travel to Somalia and join the group, and threatened a cartoonist who depicted the Prophet Mohammed -- considered blasphemous to many Moslems.

U.S. officials said the men were tossed in the slammer
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
by local authorities in East Africa en route to Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
in August 2012, then handed over to the FBI in November 2012 and flown to New York to be prosecuted.

Acting U.S. attorney Kelly Currie said the defendants were "committed supporters" of the Islamist krazed killer group, which holds large swathes of territory in the south and center of Somalia.

Since 2007, the United States has carried out more than a dozen drone and covert operations targeting Shabaab, according to the London-based Bureau of Investigative Journalism which tracks U.S. covert operations.

In September U.S. missiles killed Shabaab leader Ahmed Abdi Godane.

NBC investigation says Champ DID edit out the role of Pakistani SF at Abbottabad
[Daily Mail] Claims that President Barack Obama lied about the role of Pakistan special forces in the raid that killed former al Qaeda head Osama bin Laden have been corroborated in an investigation carried out by American broadcaster NBC News.
It's all rubbish I tell you! Listen to MEEEEE !
Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh released a controversial report, accusing the Commander-in-Chief of deliberately misstating the facts of the raid in an attempt to take credit for the success hours after a Navy SEAL operation killed the 9/11 mastermind four years ago.

Hersh claimed that Obama neglected to report the role that Pakistan special forces played in the raid so he could take credit for the mission.

But NBC News has released its own investigation into the allegations, and is standing by Hersh's claims.

The broadcaster has corroborated Hersh's claim that the 'walk in' asset that revealed the vital information as to where bin Laden was hiding was in fact Pakistani.

The official US line, however, maintains that the CIA located him by tracking couriers to his walled in complex in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

NBC News stated that it has 'long been pursuing leads about a walk-in', and that their own findings match those reported by Hersh.

In an article for the London Review of Books published on Sunday evening Hersh claims Obama's address caused 'chaos' in the intelligence community and forced them to collaborate his story.

The former New York Times reporter quotes former American and Pakistani intelligence sources, as well as Navy SEALs, - all of whom are unnamed - as he claims the White House and CIA repeatedly lied to the public about nearly every aspect of the bin Laden raid.

The White House disputed the report this afternoon, saying the piece was 'riddled with inaccuracies' and 'baseless,' as did a former CIA official, who claimed that 'every sentence...was wrong.' A current CIA operative called it 'utter nonsense.'
Lagging grammar and run-on sentences as well. Riddled I tell you, RIDDLED !

Iraq
Iraq says ISIS demolishes ruins to cover up looting operations
Baghdad -- The videos of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militants destroying ancient artifacts in Iraq’s museums and blowing up 3,000-year-old temples are chilling enough, but one of Iraq’s top antiquities officials is now saying the destruction is a cover for an even more sinister activity—the systematic looting of Iraq’s cultural heritage.

In the videos that appeared in April, militants can be seen taking sledge hammers to the iconic winged-bulls of Assyria and sawing apart floral reliefs in the palace of Ashurnasirpal II in Nimrud before the entire site is destroyed with explosives. But according to Qais Hussein Rashid, head of Iraq’s State Board for Antiquities and Heritage, that was just the final step in a deeper game.

“According to our sources, the [ISIS] started days before destroying this site by digging in this area, mainly the palace,” he told The Associated Press from his office next to Iraq’s National Museum—itself a target of looting after the 2003 US-led invasion that ousted Saddam Hussein. “We think that they first started digging around these areas to get the artifacts, then they started demolishing them as a cover up.”

Attacks in Iraqi capital kill at least 19 Shiite pilgrims
[RUDAW.NET] Attacks on Shiite pilgrims commemorating the birth of the Imam Ali killed at least 19 people and maimed more than 50 across the Iraqi capital, police officials said.

The largest of the attacks happened in central Baghdad when a jacket wallah attacked pilgrims buying food and drinks on their way back from the shrine of the Imam Ali, located in the capital's Kazimiyah neighborhood. Officials said at least 10 people were killed in the attack and another 25 maimed.

In eastern Baghdad, another two pilgrims were killed and nine maimed when a roadside kaboom went kaboom! on Paleostine Street. On the northeastern edge of the capital, in the town of Bab al-Sham, at least three mortars targeted Shiite pilgrims, killing four and wounding at least 12.

Also in Mashahidah, just north of Baghdad, at least three pilgrims were killed and eight maimed by an improvised bomb.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Anti-regime protests rock Kurdish-majority northwestern Iran
Hat tip to David Gerstman at Legal Insurrection.
Erbil and Mahabad, Iran -- On Sunday, and for the fourth day in a row, violent protests rocked the Kurdish-majority city of Mahabad in northwestern Iran, after the death on Thursday of a 25-year-old woman whom sources say died after an Iranian intelligence operative attempted to rape her.
Hard boy thought he could take what he wanted, eh?
Violent clashes broke out between the protesters and Iranian security services as the demonstrators set fire to the Tara hotel where the young woman, Farinaz Khosrawani, worked, as well as other buildings, according to Kurdish news website Rudaw.

Reports allege an Iranian intelligence operative attempted to rape Khosrawani in his hotel room. She tried to flee and then either fell from the balcony of the hotel by accident or jumped deliberately to commit suicide, depending on differing accounts.
Or was thrown from the balcony by the hard boy...
The protests have now spread to other cities in the country with large Kurdish populations, Hussein Yazdanpanah, the secretary-general of the Kurdistan Freedom Party (KFP), a Kurdish–Iranian opposition group based in Iraqi Kurdistan, told Asharq Al-Awsat on Sunday.

#1  Looks like Greater Kurdistan is trying to awaken. This can cause some big-time instabilities in Iran and Turkey, and has the potential to change the map in the middle east. Mullahs and would-be Caliph Erdogan are starting to get a bit worried - because the Kurds homeland happens to sit in rugged terrain that also happens to be oil country.

Syrian Army, Resistance Fighters Capture New Key Posts in Al-Qalamoun
[ALMANAR.LB] Syrian army and resistance fighters seized three hilltops Tuesday from terrorist gunnies in Al-Qalamoun, the latest of a series of gains.

Mashrou' Haql Zeaiter hilltop and Jour Beit Abdul Haq are located west of the outskirts of the Syrian village of Ras al-Maara and east of the outskirts of the Lebanese town of Nahleh. These are the most recent hilltops to be captured adding to Abdul Haq hilltop which was captured earlier.

These gains in Al-Qalamoun region will prevent gunnies from launching attacks at the Bekaa Valley.

Militants who withdrew from hills and villages in Qalamoun are now positioned in Talit Moussa, the highest hilltop in the Qalamoun mountains. They also receded towards the outskirts of the Lebanese border town of Arsal and parts of the outskirts of Flita.

This victory adds to previous ones made by the Syrian army and resistance fighters, driving gunnies from about a dozen outposts and several towns, including Assal al-Ward and Al-Jibbeh. It also comes as forces of Evil were battling each other in western Qalamoun.
