11 Al-Shabaab & 2 KDF Soldiers killed in Lamu attack
Eleven Al-Shabaab militiamen, including two fighters of Caucasian origin, and two KDF soldiers were Sunday morning killed in an attack on a military camp at Baure area, Lamu County.

According to military spokesman Colonel David Obonyo, Al-Shabaab militiamen attempted to attack the KDF camp at about 5:45 am Sunday morning but the attack was repulsed. KDF managed to neutralize 11 Al-Shabaab fighters in the firefight, which also saw two KDF soldiers lose their lives.

“The attack was aggressively repulsed and during the firefight 11 Al-Shabaab terrorist, including two fighters of Caucasian origin, were neutralised,” said Colonel Obonyo.

KDF recovered an assortment of weapons, including 13 AK-47 rifles, five RPGs and eight grenades.

Mr Obonyo further appealed to members of the pubic to report any suspicious looking individuals or anybody seeking medical assistance in the area.

After the attack, the militiamen who survived attacked a health centre and secondary school in the same area. The militiamen reportedly attacked Manga Health Center where they stole medicine before burning the store and two motorcycles. They also set Manga Secondary School dormitory on fire.

Confirming the incident, Senior Chief Lamu County Abdallah Shahassy said the militiamen launched the attack at about 5am and carried on till 7am.

This comes just days after the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett issued a statement saying that police are on high alert based on intelligence reports that terrorists might be planning attacks during the Muslim holy month of Ramadhan.

US Airstrike "likely" killed Mokhtar in Libya
The U.S military launched weekend airstrikes targeting and likely killing an al-Qaida-linked militant leader in eastern Libya who has been charged with leading the attack on a gas plant in Algeria in 2013 that killed at least 35 hostages, including three Americans.

The Libyan government said warplanes targeted and killed Mokhtar Belmokhtar and several others in eastern Libya. A U.S. official said two F-15 fighter jets launched multiple 500-pound bombs in the attack. The official was not authorized to discuss the details of the attack publicly so spoke on condition of anonymity.

U.S. officials said they are still assessing the results of the Saturday strike, but Pentagon spokesman Col. Steve Warren said the military believes the strike was successful and hit the target. Neither U.S. officials nor the Libyan government provided proof of Belmokhtar's death, which likely requires a DNA test or an announcement by Belmokhtar's group that he was killed.

Angry Mob Murders ABU Professor, Mistook Him For Boko Haram -- Police
[360NOBS] The Kano State Command has disclosed to media how a professor of the Ahmadu Bello University, ABU Zaria, Ahmed Falaki was murdered by a mob who mistook him for a boko haram terrorist.

Speaking to pressmen on Wednesday, the Assistant Inspector- General, Zone 1, Kano, Yabo Muhammad, revealed that Mr. Falaki was not killed by a gunshot fired by the police but by mob action when he was mistaken for a terrorist.

He said the late Professor, who was returning from a trip to Bauchi state, made a stop over to change a deflated tyre when his car was seized at gun point by fleeing murderous Moslems.

The Professor, his brother and a driver had headed to Fala village, a few metres from where their vehicle was snatched to seek assistance.

The villagers initially assisted them and called residents of a neighbouring village, alerting them of the fleeing murderous Moslems, and asking them to block the road.

However,
a person who gets all wrapped up in himself makes a mighty small package...
as the chaos ensued, Prof. Falaki had tried to identify himself to the special police squad who had arrived the scene, displaying his identity card. But the police officer, unable to read the contents of the ID card, suggested that the late professor, his brother and a driver, were part of the murderous Moslems.

The suspicions of the police officer caused panic among the villagers, leading to the mob action and the Professor's death.

Information gathered suggest that ABU Zaria is claiming that the Professor was killed by police bullet.

A Saudi-led military alliance has been carrying out air raids in Yemen for almost three months to try to restore exiled President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi and repel the Houthis, whom they regard as proxies for their regional archrival Iran.

Yemeni Army, Ansarullah kills 90 Qaeda Terrorists in Aden
[al-Alam] The Yemeni army and Popular Forces of Ansarullah killed tens of Al-Qaeda terrorists in special operations in Aden, Southern Yemen.

"A sum of 90 Al-Qaeda terrorists were killed in heavy fighting with army and Ansarullah forces in Ba'er Ahmad region of Aden," Saba news agency quoted an informed Yemeni military source.

The Yemeni army and popular forces are still continuing their mop-up operations in Aden's Ba'er Ahmad region.

The advances by the Yemeni forces came as the Saudi fighter jets are still pounding Aden to prevent further gains by the army and Ansarullah.

Earlier, the Yemeni army and Ansarullah fighters besieged a large number of Al-Qaeda terrorists in the province of Taiz as they continued to advance against the Saudi-backed militants.

Popular forces have tightened the noose on Al-Qaeda terrorists in Be'r Ahmad in Aden.

The Ansarullah fighters and army troops have made major advances in their fight against the Saudi-backed al-Qaeda terrorists and forces loyal to fugitive former President Mansour Hadi across Yemen in recent weeks, FNA reports.

The clashes between the Ansarullah fighters and the Saudi-backed al-Qaeda terrorists as well as the pro-Hadi militias continue in the Southern parts of the country as Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen for 80 days now to restore power to fugitive president Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

Hadi stepped down in January and refused to reconsider the decision despite calls by Ansarullah revolutionaries of the Houthi movement.

Despite Riyadh's claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi warplanes are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.

The Monarchy's attacks have so far claimed the lives of at least 4,561 civilians, mostly women and children.

A group of 59 faceless myrmidons including two key commanders appeared before the media on Sunday, along with senior politicians and government officials from the province, to announce they would end murderous Moslem activities and become a "useful part" of society.

They followed a group of 47 faceless myrmidons on Saturday. All were given amnesty by the government.

Several cars and shops were burnt in the attack, police said.

group has been cut off from weapons supplies in some parts of Anbar province, whose capital fell to ISIS last month.

Brig. Nasser Ghanam, commander of the Iraqi Army's Jazira and Badiya operations, said in a statement that ISIS has been cut off from weapons supplies from Syria through a border road running from Qaim to the town of Kobaisi in Ramadi.

The statement said that about 10 ISIS bandidos Lions of Islam were killed in fighting near Kobaisi, after ISIS attacked military positions in the area.

The Iraqi military's Dijla and Badiya forces have distributed some 630 tons of food in the sub-districts of Baghdadi and Haditha, west of Baghdad, cutting the area off from Ramadi, which remains under ISIS control.

In other military developments on Sunday, local officials in Baghdadi said tribal fighters had repulsed several ISIS attacks around the sub-district, killing 16 bandidos Lions of Islam and destroying six Hummer military vehicles.

In mid-May Iraq announced the launch of a military operation to drive ISIS out of the western Anbar province, where the Lions of Islam captured the thriving provincial capital, Ramadi, in early May.

, unnamed military sources told Rudaw Saturday.

According to the officials, the corpses of 27 former Iraqi soldiers were sent to a morgue in the city of Mosul. "ISIS had asked the soldiers to join ISIS and fight alongside the jihadis," the source said, claiming they were killed for not joining the group.

A similar story run by Mosul Eye on Wednesday made a bigger claim: that the bodies of 134 slain police and security officers were delivered to Aljamhouri Hospital. Mosul Eye, the nom de guerre of an "independent historian" reporting anonymously from inside Mosul, said ISIS killed the officials because it suspected they were aiding anti-ISIS forces.

ISIS captured Mosul in June 2014, overwhelming the defense forces, many of whom fled and left their weapons and uniforms behind.

Palestinian killed by Israeli jeep in West Bank
West Bank -- An Israeli army jeep struck and killed a Palestinian in the occupied West Bank on Sunday, with the military and locals giving conflicting accounts of the circumstances.

A military spokeswoman said the jeep, which was in the village of Qafr Malik as part of an operation to arrest suspected militants, accidentally hit the Palestinian after he threw a petrol bomb at it.

“The driver was startled and swerved, hitting the man,” she said, adding that a military investigation would be launched.
That'd startle me into swerving right into him.
The Times of Israel has photos of the jeep flipped on its roof, a little more than just a startled swerve.
Local resident Nail Abdul Latah El Hajj denied the Palestinian had attacked the jeep, saying the man was walking to work at a chicken farm when he was run down and then crushed as the vehicle crashed into a wall and overturned.
Just a humble chicken farmer. With a petrol bomb...
He said the man’s death sparked confrontations between stone-throwing Palestinian youths and Israeli troops. The military spokeswoman said the disturbances were already under way when the collision happened.
According to The Times of Israel it was a full-blown riot, and our poor, mistreated victim was not the only one throwing Molotov cocktails.
In a separate incident, the army said it was investigating soldiers who were filmed beating an unarmed Palestinian during a protest in a West Bank refugee camp on Friday. The video posted on social media showed the Palestinian being hit with a rifle butt and wrestled to the ground, where he was punched further and a soldier’s knee was pressed against his head. He was then handcuffed and taken away.

“If necessary, disciplinary action will be taken against (the soldiers). Based on preliminary investigation, it appears that the conduct displayed in the incident is inconsistent with that expected of IDF (Israel Defence Forces) soldiers,” the military said in a statement.

Israeli forces regularly mount raids in the West Bank in search of suspected militants, often touching off clashes with local residents. On Wednesday, Israeli soldiers shot dead a member of the Hamas group in the town of Jenin in one such operation.

Kurdish forces enter ISIS-held Rojava town
[Rudaw] Kurdish fighters from the People's Protection Units (YPG) have entered the town of Gire Spi and recaptured parts of the settlement from ISIS jihadis in Syrian Kurdistan, also known as Rojava, inside sources told Rudaw on Sunday on condition of anonymity.

According to a military source, YPG fighters are in partial control of the strategic town and it is expected to be fully liberated from ISIS within a day.

Another YPG official spoke to Rudaw on condition of anonymity and claimed "many of the jihadis have already left the town, but they booby trapped the area before leaving. It may take us longer to fully recapture Gire Spi."

Gire Spi had as of late become a hub for ISIS activity in the region because of its strategic location, connecting the Kobani canton in the north with Cizire in the northeast.

Kurdish forces declared autonomy in the three cantons of Afrin, Cizire and Kobani in Rojava after government forces withdrew from the area in the wake of the Syrian Civil War, now in its fifth year.

Kurds close in on Daesh-held Syria border town
Beirut -- Kurdish forces closed in on a strategic Daesh-held border town in northern Syria on Sunday, prompting an exodus of fearful civilians from surrounding villages. Backed by allied rebels and air strikes by a US-led coalition, Kurdish militia pressed their offensive on Tal Abyad, used by the Daesh group as a gateway from neighbouring Turkey.

Late Saturday, the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) advanced to within five kilometres (three miles) of Tal Abyad, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. The militia also seized at least 20 villages southwest of the border town, the Britain-based monitoring group added.

“They are on the eastern outskirts of Tal Abyad, but the southwestern front is much more difficult because it’s more populated,” said Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman.

A Kurdish activist who visits the front line daily said the area’s mixed population was seeking refuge wherever it could.

“Tal Abyad is almost completely surrounded,” Arin Shekhmos told AFP.

An AFP correspondent on the Turkish side of the border reported that thousands of would-be refugees were queueing behind the barbed wire seeking asylum.

Another Kurdish activist in the symbolic battleground town of Kobane further west, liberated from Daesh by the Kurds earlier this year, said authorities there had set up a camp for the displaced.

“We are waiting for the whole border area to be liberated — from northeastern Syria all the way to Kobane,” Mustafa Ebdi told AFP.

Tal Abyad lies on the border between mainly Kurdish Kobane and Syria’s most populous ethnic Kurdish region — Hasakeh province — in the northeast. Both Ebdi and the Observatory said the Kurds had already occupied the nearby town of Suluk, denying Daesh access to Tal Abyad from the east.

“Daesh has completely withdrawn from Suluk. The Kurds are combing through it now and clearing the mines and booby-trapped vehicles there,” Abdel Rahman said.

He told AFP that US-led air strikes had been key in forcing the militants to withdraw.

On Saturday, the coalition said it had struck three Daesh tactical units near Kobane and had destroyed one of the group’s fighting positions.

To the west in Aleppo province, coalition raids killed at least 12 Daesh fighters as they fought a rebel alliance for control of a supply route from Turkey, Abdel Rahman said.
