Zabul MPs Urge Local Residents, Taliban to Turn Against Foreign Militants
[Tolo News] In the wake of a series of kidnappings by foreign holy warriors, a number of MPs from Zabul province on Wednesday urged their local residents and the Taliban to take up arms against the foreigners and push them out of the province.

The remarks came in response to the recent abduction of five family members in Zabul, which followed the kidnapping of 31 bus passengers earlier in the year. The politicians appealed to both local communities and armed opposition groups composed of Afghans, looking to inspire outrage against foreign snuffies by banding Afghans against outsiders.

Neighboring Ghazni province's acting deputy governor, Mohammad Ali Ahmadi, said two women, one child and a man were kidnapped in Zabul last week. According to Ahmadi, just this week, local Taliban leaders told tribal elders that the hostages were kidnapped by foreign holy warriors. The Taliban has allegedly claimed these foreigners are the same ones that were behind the kidnapping of the 31 bus passengers.

"The abductors are foreign bandidos krazed killers who kidnapped the 31 passengers in Zabul," Ahmadi said on Wednesday. "They have asked for the release of five women in exchange for the four kidnapped passengers in Ghazni and the remaining members of the 31 abductees."

Most of the 31 hostages taken earlier in the year were freed in May in an alleged prisoner swap deal arranged between the snuffies and the Afghan government. But Zabul MPs slammed the government's strategy on Wednesday, calling for an end to prisoner swaps.

"I want to ask the Afghan Taliban to find Afghan courage and zeal. It is shameful for them to witness foreign snuffies kidnapping women and men that are their brothers and sisters," Zabul MP Hamidullah Tokhi said. "In some cases they give refuge to the holy warriors."

MP Fawzi Kofi, the head of the Women's Affairs Commission in the Lower House, called the abducting of women and kiddies unjustifiable, barbaric and cruel.

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Chief Executive Officer Dr. Abdullah Abdullah
... the former foreign minister of the Northern Alliance government, advisor to Masood, and candidate for president against Karzai. Dr. Abdullah was born in Kabul and is half Tadjik and half Pashtun...

During a meeting with the commander of the NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all....
-led Resolute Support (RS) mission, Gen. John Campbell, Abdullah said targeting the top commanders and leaders of the anti-government armed faceless myrmidons will have a positive impact over security situation.

West's reaction to Morsi death penalty criticized
[AA.TR] Experts have criticized the reactions of Western countries, including the U.S. over the Egyptian military-led regime's handing down of death sentences to Egypt's first democratically-elected president Mohammed Morsi and other leaders of the Moslem Brüderbund.

John Esposito, an American professor of international affairs and Islamic studies at the Georgetown University in Washington D.C., told Anadolu Agency that the institution of democracy itself had become non-existent in Egypt under the current Egyptian President, Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi.
It wasn't so healthy under his predecessor, nor the one before that, nor the one before that...
"Egypt is not on the path to democracy. There is no democracy or desire for democracy under el-Sisi in Egypt today," Esposito said.

Arabia
Shun violence, terror!
[ARABNEWS] King of the Arabians, Sheikh of the Burning Sands, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman
...either the largest species of Pacific salmon or the current Sheikh of the Burnin' Sands, Cutodian of the Two Holy Mosquesand Lord of Most of the Arabians....
on Wednesday urged Saudis and other Moslems to uphold the values of tolerance, love, unity and mercifulness, and reject violence and terrorism.

In a message on the occasion of Ramadan, he reiterated Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
's total rejection of sectarianism based on different schools of religious thought, saying sectarianism would weaken the country's unity and solidarity.

"We have unlimited confidence in Saudi citizens and we'll not show any leniency toward those who try to weaken the unity of Saudis and undermine the Kingdom's security," he said.

The message, which was read out on Saudi Television by Culture and Information Minister Adel Al-Toraifi, the king described Ramadan as a month of goodness and blessings when God forgives sins of believers and saves them from Hell.

"Islam is a religion of love, compassion and tolerance, and its message was sent by the Almighty as a mercy to the whole humanity," the king said.

Since the time of King Abdul Aziz, Saudi Arabia has been promoting the moderate teachings of Islam and supporting the oppressed and the downtrodden the world over as it believes in the bondage of human brotherhood.

The king stressed that Saudi Arabia's humanitarian activities were not aimed at achieving any mundane benefits but to win the pleasure and reward of God. "We are happy to serve Moslems all over the world."

The king added: "Islam works for goodness and reform and promotes constructive activities. It follows moderation, backs dialogue and brings people together."

King Salman continued, "The holy month generates in our minds the feelings of empathy and compassion toward the fellow human beings. It also teaches us great lessons."

He called upon Moslems to make use of the great blessings of Ramadan through fasting, prayers and righteous deeds. "Moslems should do their duties in the best form and deal with others nicely."

Europe
France refuses to comment on Morsi death sentence
[AA.TR] A French government official has refused to comment on the Egyptian court's decision to sentence to death Egypt's first democratically elected president Mohammed Morsi.

"We cannot comment a decision given by the Egyptian justice [system]," Stephane Le Foll, the French government's front man told news hounds on Wednesday following the weekly government meeting.
"No skin off our national fore!"
Separately, the French Foreign Ministry's front man Romain Nadal did say in a statement: "We noted the decision. La Belle France recalls once more that it stands against the death penalty."

An Egyptian court on Tuesday sentenced former President Mohammed Morsi to death on jailbreak charges. The court also sentenced five leaders of the Moslem Brüderbund, including top leader Mohammed Badie, to death on charges of taking part in a mass jailbreak in 2011.

Encryption "would not have helped" at OPM, says DHS official
A consultant who did some work with a company contracted by OPM to manage personnel records for a number of agencies told Ars that he found the Unix systems administrator for the project "was in Argentina and his co-worker was physically located in the [People's Republic of China]. Both had direct access to every row of data in every database: they were root. Another team that worked with these databases had at its head two team members with PRC passports. I know that because I challenged them personally and revoked their privileges. From my perspective, OPM compromised this information more than three years ago and my take on the current breach is 'so what's new?'"

#10  This is criminal negligence. Immediately put in place law, regulations, and procedures to

1. Require that all systems containing sensitive information must be admin'd by cleared US citizens working in the US.

2. Require that all systems that cannot be secured must not be connected to the Internet except by remote procedure call through a secure system. Administration of those systems must be on-site and not through the Internet. This is not hard to do, even for COBOL systems.

Developing new systems will take years, and experience shows they won't work and will be full of holes initially. Meanwhile, we are wide open unless the above requirements are implemented asap.

Unfortunately nothing will be done. Congress will make the usreal noises, the media will ignore it (except to blame Boosh!) and the public will forget about it in the next election - and most just don't give a shit because it doesn't obviously effect their magic government check.

Nawaz cancels Zardari meeting after anti-military outburst
[DAWN] After the anti-military remarks made by Asif Ali Zardari yesterday, the prime minister was left with no option but to call off today's meeting the PPP co-chairman, said Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid.

The information minister said Zardari should have shown some care in his selection of words. "It's not wise to pass such statements when the military is tackling militancy and terrorism," he added.

Rashid maintained that national security institutions deserve respect, adding that it was "our duty and obligation to honour the services and sacrifices rendered by our security forces."

Altaf asks for Rangers to be stopped
[NATION.PK] Joining hands with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in anti-rangers tirade, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain telephoned President Mamnoon Hussain, asking him to use his power to stop Rangers from committing "atrocities against the people of Sindh."

In his first statement after quitting the party, Altaf said Rangers brutality with political workers on the pretext of arresting terrorists is not only a violation of human rights but is also completely against the UN Charter and the Constitution of Pakistan.

He alleged that MQM workers and office-bearers were disappearing.

"When the elected representatives contact local Rangers officials for getting information about arrested workers, they are not given any satisfactory reply," he said.

He further said that the arrested people are kept in custody for several months before declaring their arrests. He said that the Rangers are also bound to follow the law and Constitution of Pakistan as any other citizen of Pakistan.

Militant attacks declined after Zarb-e-Azb operation: report
[NATION.PK] Militant attacks in the country have dropped to six years low, after one year of operation Zarb-e-Azb
..the Pak offensive against Qaeda in Pakistain and the Pak Taliban in North Wazoo. The name refers to the sword of the Prophet (PTUI!)...
. This was revealed by Islamabad based Think Tank Pakistain Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), which monitors bad boy activities in South Asia, Central Asia and West Asia.

Before start of Zarb-e-Azb, PICSS recorded average bad boy attacks gone up to historic high of 154 attacks per month, which has now dropped more than 50 percent to 71 attacks per month. PICSS claims that the average of bad boy attacks after one year of Zarb-e-Azb is lowest since 2008. Operation Zarb-e-Azb not only improved overall security situation in the country, but it also caused serious dents to the unity of TTP. TTP splinted into at least three major factions.

Before Zarb-e-Azb average bad boy attacks per month in KPK province was 49 which saw 75 percent decline to 12 attacks per month in first five and half months of 2015. Before Zarb-e-Azb highest number of bad boy attacks was being recorded from KPK. In FATA average bad boy attacks before Zarb-e-Azb were 31 which have now dropped to 16 attacks per month.

To support Zarb-e-Azb and control blow back in major cities, security forces had launched Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs) across the country. These operations helped in limiting the blow back though

hard boyz managed to carry out some high profile attacks in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
, Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Shikarpur. Karachi has also seen remarkable reduction in anti-state violence (apart from violence perpetrated by bad boy wings of political parties) emanating from groups like TTP, Al-Qaeda and their local affiliates.

Prior to Zarb-e-Azb the average was 25 attacks per month which has dropped to 9 after 64 percent decline. Security Forces have bumped off some key commanders of Al-Qaeda in South Asia, TTP and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi
... a 'more violent' offshoot of Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistain. LeJ's purpose in life is to murder anyone who's not of utmost religious purity, starting with Shiites but including Brelvis, Ahmadis, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Rosicrucians, and just about anyone else you can think of. UN seeks to eliminate peacekeeping sex scams
[Bangla Daily Star] To eliminate sex abuse from UN peacekeeping missions, the first major review of operations in 15 years recommends that countries which flout children's rights be barred from blue helmet missions.

A panel headed by Nobel Peace Prize winner Jose Ramos-Horta was tasked with rethinking peacekeeping at a time when UN missions are increasingly under threat and increasingly asked to manage conflicts.

Ramos-Horta was tapped to carry out the mission last year before recent allegations implicated UN peacekeepers in sexual abuse in Haiti and Liberia, and French troops in Central African Republic.

On Tuesday, he submitted his report to UN Secretary General the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon
... of whom it can be said to his credit that he is not Kofi Annan...
.

A summary of the report, obtained by AFP, recommends that troops from countries that flout the rights of children in armed conflict be excluded from UN peacekeeping missions.

The United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
publishes annual lists to shame countries with questionable records on children and armed conflict, and on conflict related sexual violence.

The report also recommends that disciplinary action -- or the lack of it -- taken by troop contributing countries be disclosed.

Six-month deadlines should also be imposed on investigations, compared to an average 16 months, and "an effective and adequately resourced victim assistance program" set up.

Long-term Gaza truce mooted as Hamas, Israel grapple with jihadi challenge
[REUTERS] It's not quite a case of the enemy of my enemy is my friend, but shared concern over Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
-inspired Lion of Islam groups in Gazoo could help redraw complex relationships between Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, and a hostile Egypt and Israel.

Talk is rampant in the territory of 1.8 million of a prospective pullback from confrontation with Israel - a long-term ceasefire to cement further an Egyptian-brokered truce that brought an end to the Gazoo war nearly a year ago.

That could allow Hamas to step up efforts to rein in radical Islamists, known as Salafis, who have grabbed credit for recent rocket attacks against Israel, and open the way for more reconstruction aid to reach Gazoo.

There are also signs of change along Egypt's frontier with the Gazoo Strip.

The military-run government in Cairo, which accuses Islamist Hamas of backing jihadi fighters in Egypt's Sinai desert, opened its border with Gazoo this week for the first time in three months, permitting Paleostinians to travel in both directions.

"The new easing of measures results from the presence of a common enemy," said Akram Attallah, a Gazoo-based political commentator.

Hamas insists Islamic State has no foothold in Gazoo, where the Paleostinian group's forces are dominant. It has described what Salafi groups say have been the arrests of dozens of their supporters as no more than action against "criminal elements".

But by mounting such operations, some in the wake of Salafi-claimed rocket strikes, Hamas has also shown a commitment to a truce with Israel and demonstrated to Egypt that it is fighting the same jihadi enemy, Atallah said.

Over the past few months, envoys from Europe and the United Nations

Iranian Ambassador Disputes Claims of Tehran Supporting Taliban
[Tolo News] Iranian Ambassador to Afghanistan Mohammad Reza Bahrami has rejected claims reported in U.S. media this week that Iran has provided support for the Taliban militancy in Afghanistan in order to stem the rise of Daesh.

In an exclusive interview with TOLOnews, Ambassador Bahrami denied Tehran's support for any terrorist groups in Afghanistan and said such proxy strategies are a danger to every country in the region. His comments come after an article published in the Wall Street Journal suggested that Iran was providing funding for Taliban groups committed to fighting Daesh in Afghanistan.

"Iran and Taliban do not have any relations," Ambassador Bahrami asserted. "In Iran's security strategy, there is no interpretation in connection with terrorist groups and any connection with these groups are against Iran, the region and outside the region," he added.

"We have one thousand kilometers of shared border with Afghanistan, and in our permanent strategy, there is development and support for the central government of Afghanistan."

Proxy warfare via the Taliban and other violent krazed killer groups in the region has largely defined relations between Afghanistan and its other neighbor Pakistain for well over a decade. In the case of Iran, however, while there is much evidence indicating its support for bully boy groups throughout the Arab world, including Shiite militias in Iraq fighting Daesh, much less attention has been paid to Tehran's real or perceived involvement in fighting in Afghanistan.

Yet Iran's top diplomat in Kabul

State Department says system not expected be online before next week
[AA.TR] A technical problem affecting the U.S. travel visa system is not expected to be fixed before next week, a State Department front man said Wednesday.

"Our Bureau of Consular Affairs continue to experience technical problems with the visa systems, and this is a global issue and we're working around the clock to fix it," John Kirby told news hounds. "The failure right now is preventing the Department from processing and transmitting the mandatory security-related biometric data checks at our embassies and consulates."

He added that more than 100 computer experts from the private and public sectors across the country are working on the problem he described as a "hardware failure".

Kirby said the failure was not caused by any kind of outside intrusion or cyberattack.
