Afghanistan
Afghan forces recapture Waygal district from Taliban
[Iran Press TV] Afghan cops have recaptured a restive district from Taliban in the country's troubled eastern province of Nuristan, local officials say.

Abdul Qauom, the provincial governor in Nuristan, said that Waygal district was retaken by Afghan forces on Friday evening.

The fierce fighting over the district in the remote province along the country's mountainous border with Pakistain claimed the lives of at least 18 coppers and maimed 20 others, Qauom added.

The Taliban terrorist group also said in a statement that seven of its forces of Evil bit the dust after Afghan government forces launched the attack, which began on Thursday night.

The district was retaken just a day after it fell to the Taliban following a deadly assault. Sources said earlier that the Afghan government troops had no choice but to retreat from the area after they did not receive reinforcement.

Provincial Lawmaker Detained On Killings, Supplying Arms to Taliban
[Tolo News] Police in northwestern Faryab has detained a former provincial council member accused of killings and supplying arms and ammunition to the Taliban.

Angar Tokhi was tossed in the slammer
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
from his neighbor's house, chief of Faryab criminal investigation department told TOLOnews.

"Angar Tokhi is accused of murders in Almar district," he said. "Tokhi has also been accused of handing over arms to the murderous Moslems."

He added that Tokhi had also several other cases registered with the police.

In addition, family members of Omidullah, who was found dead about two weeks ago, accused Tokhi of killing their loved one.

"On 16 June, Omidullah was kidnapped and his body was found the next day," his brother Mohammad Ayubi said. "Four people were suspicious in the case who after being arrested confessed that Angar Tokhi was the real murderer."

He called on the government and courts to bring the culprit to justice.

But Tokhi's family members rejected the allegations as baseless, calling it a political conspiracy against Tokhi.

"I don't really want to defend my brother. Let the time decide about him but what I know is that there is a political conspiracy against my brother," Tokhi's brother Mohammad Dawar told TOLOnews.

But the Faryab Police also accused Tokhi of killing Omidullah and said a girl was also detained in this connection.

Provincial politicians who are often the most powerful people in the provinces have repeatedly been accused of supporting illegal gangs, violating law and misusing their authority.

Police Commander's Family Takes Down Taliban Attackers
[Tolo News] The family of a Laghman province police commander banded together recently and took down a group of Taliban Lions of Islam who attacked their home.

Said Hassan Almas, the police commander, said he and his wife, his sons and daughters-in-law and children fought off the Lions of Islam for over an hour and a half.

He said the Lions of Islam attacked at about 11.30 pm while they were all asleep. According to police at least 47 Lions of Islam were present during the shootout.

The family managed to kill six and injure one. They drove the rest back during the battle. When security forces arrived to help, the remaining Lions of Islam fled.

Officials said the Taliban demanded that Almas surrender to them. Insurgents said at the time if he did so they would let his family live.

However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
Almas chose not to and instead ordered his children and wife to fight.

"They came and shouted for me to surrender. I told my kids that we will all fight against them," said Almas.

However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
one of his daughters-in-law was seriously maimed in the attack.

But the commander said his eldest son was to thank for having left the safety of the house where he was able to gun down a number of attackers. With him was his wife who stood by him handing him ammunition. She also, however, engaged in a shootout with the Taliban from time to time.

"I first hit one of their gunnies, and then I kept fighting for an hour and half," said Hassan Mohabbat, the commander's son.

Another son Muhammad Shah also engaged in the gun fight and said: "I was on the roof when the Taliban came and asked us to surrender. I started shooting."

Almas however said he is experienced in warfare and has fought for the past 30 years. Guns, he said, have turned into his day and night companion.

But this attack has forced him to leave his once safe, remote, home and move his family to a more secure area.

His wife also spoke of the incident and said that it was with the help of the women in the house that the Taliban were defeated that night.

"The only thing I could do was to reload the magazines and it give to my husband and sons."

Explosion temporarily halts trains between Cairo and Alexandria, no injuries
[Al Ahram] An improvised kaboom in Egypt on Friday temporarily halted trains between Cairo and the Mediterranean city of Alexandria, but left no casualties, security officials said.

A home-made bomb went off near the city of Damanhour, some 70 kilometres from Alexandria, director of security Maj. Gen. Mohammed Fathy said.

The blast left no casualties, he said, but caused damage to the railway line, bringing train movement to a halt for around three hours.

Railway lines are frequently targeted by anti-government Lions of Islam operating in Egyptian cities.

Bomb kabooms in Kafr El-Zayat in the Nile Delta briefly halted Cairo-Alexandria trains in February.

Similar attacks also disrupted services in the southern city of Aswan and in the Nile Delta city of Zagazig the previous month.

No casualties were reported in relation to the incidents.

Kuwait mosque blast was suicide attack: security official
[ARABNEWS] A jacket wallah attacked a Shiite mosque in the Kuwaiti capital during the main weekly prayers Friday killing 16 and wounding dozens, officials and witnesses said.

Daesh grabbed credit for the attack.

The blast hit Al-Imam al-Sadeq mosque in Kuwait City, security officials and witnesses said.

The official KUNA news agency confirmed that there were "dead and maimed," but did not provide details.

A witness told AFP "dozens were killed and maimed," and pictures circulating on social media showed several bloodied bodies in the mosque amid debris.

AFP could not immediately obtain a toll from official sources.

A security official said "it is a suicide kaboom."

Witnesses gave a similar account, saying a suicide bomber entered the mosque during the weekly noon prayers.

An AFP photographer who arrived at the site after the bombing said the area was cordoned off by police.

Friday's attack is the first such bombing targeting Kuwaiti Shiites, who make up around one-third of the country's native population of 1.3 million people.

Saudi-led jets bomb Yemen as Hadi govt rejects talks
[Dhaka Tribune] Air strikes by a Saudi-led force hit military bases across Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
yesterday, residents told Rooters, and the country's foreign minister was quoted as saying there was no need to convene another peace summit after the first round of talks failed.

Talks in Geneva last week ended without a resolution to the conflict, which has claimed more than 2,800 lives, as the Iran-allied Houthis and Saudi-backed President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi refused to back down.

, residents said. Fighter jets also struck the capital Sanaa, the Houthis' northern stronghold in Saada, as well as the provinces of Marib, Shabwa, Bayda and Aden in the centre and south of the country.

The Houthis reject that resolution, which calls for them to withdraw from captured areas, return seized arms and allow Hadi to return from his Riyadh exile.

UN special envoy Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed will hold talks in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia in the coming days on a draft peace proposal with the aim of reaching a preliminary agreement with Houthi fighters, a UN front man said yesterday.

Pakistani man behind Peshawar bombing arrested from Italy
[NATION.PK] A Pak suspected of being involved in the Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
market bombing, one of the country's bloodiest attacks, has been tossed in the slammer
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
in Rome, Italian police said today.

The man, who has been living in Italia, is accused of taking part in an attack on the market in Peshawar in 2009 in which 134 died. He was held at Rome's Fiumicino airport after stepping off a flight from Pakistain.
"Welcome to Italia! Stick 'em up!"
Anti-terrorist police believe he also hid a "suspected suicide kaboomer who was supposed to carry out an attack" in Italia.

Earlier in April, Italian police said they were staging a "vast anti-terrorism" operation against an armed organization inspired by al Qaeda whose members were ready to carry out attacks in Pakistain and Afghanistan.

A series of raids across the country was targeting 18 people, they said. Some had been arrested in Italia, including the group's suspected spiritual leader, but others were believed to have left the country.
Y'cant commit atrocities without a spiritual leader. Somebody's gotta sign off on the fatwas.
The group had "an abundant amount of weapons and numerous faithful willing to carry out acts of terrorism in Pakistain and Afghanistan before returning to Italia," police said in one of a series of statements.

All the suspects are Paks or Afghans, anti-terrorism police official Mario Carta told Rooters, adding that the operation was still in progress.

Some of the men arrested or being sought are suspected of involvement in the October 2009 bombing of the Meena Bazaar in Peshawar, which left more than 100 dead and over 200 people injured.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the group was in touch with the Taliban movement and top al Qaeda figures in Pakistain.

FBI, DHS Warn Of July Fourth Attacks On Law Enforcement, Military
[Breitbart] The government is warning that law enforcement officers and the military could be the target of attacks during the Fourth of July holiday.

CBS News reports that Friday the FBI and Department of Homeland Security issued a bulletin warning of possible attacks. The outlet notes that the bulletin is unrelated to the attacks in France, Tunisia and Kuwait.

The bulletin comes as DHS Sec. Jeh Johnson encourages vigilance over the July Fourth holiday in the wake of Friday's attacks abroad.

"Particularly with the upcoming July 4th holiday, here in the United States the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI continue to communicate with state and local law enforcement about what we know and see," Johnson said in a statement voicing support for the people of France, Tunisia, and Kuwait following the terrorist attacks in those countries.

"We are encouraging all law enforcement to be vigilant and prepared. We will also adjust security measures, seen and unseen, as necessary to protect the American people," he added.
Are the 'measures' to include a ban on fireworks displays, parades, marching band music, and the provocative American flag ?

murderous Moslems detonated a boom-mobile and then opened fire on Iraqi troops in the western province of Anbar on Thursday, killing 14 soldiers, security sources said.

Iraqi government forces and their Shi'ite militia allies are hoping to recapture Anbar's historic provincial capital Ramadi, which was seized by the ultra-hardline Sunni hard boyz last month.

Islamic State swept through northern Iraq last year and has since taken control of a third of the country, a major oil producer and OPEC member. It also holds large swathes of Syria.

Twenty seven soldiers were also maimed in Thursday's attack in Anbar's Nadheem al-Taqseem region.

In the town of Hit, west of Ramadi, artillery fire and rocket attacks targeted the local irrigation department, killing nine people and wounding 13.

The presence of Islamic State murderous Moslems has fueled a sectarian civil war.

Iraq's army relies on U.S.-led air strikes and a Shi'ite umbrella fighting group known as Hashd al-Shaabi, or popular mobilization committee, in its bid to a slow the advance of Islamic State.

Abu Sayyaf threatens to behead hostages
[Gulf Today] Abu Sayyaf militants have threatened to behead two members of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and a village official they kidnapped in Zamboanga del Sur province in early May if their families failed to pay the ransom demanded.

The issue flared up when the Abu Sayyaf released a video showing the hostages on their knees, half-naked and blindfolded with the masked gunmen behind them. "We will behead one if not all of them if you will not comply with our demands," one of the terrorists threatened as he held a bolo drawn across the neck of one of the hostages.

Officials said the ransom demands ranged from a high of $2 million from the government to a low of $70,000 for each of the hostages, according to the sister of one of the PCG personnel. She said, "We cannot afford it. I even told one of the captors that they erred when they seized our brother, that we are poor."

Philippine communications secretary Herminio Coloma announced it would stamd firm in its no-ransom policy even as PCG spokesman Armand Balilo, the assured the agency was doing its best to rescue the hostages.

Still unconfirmed reports claim the three hostages have been brought to the island province of Sulu.

Daraa rebels seize strategic checkpoint, press advances
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Southern Front rebels on Wednesday seized control of al-Sarou checkpoint, one of regime's powerful strongholds in Daraa, the border city with Jordan, activists said.

Early Thursday, rebels in video statement said the International Road links between Daraa province and Damascus is a military zone, warning civilians from getting close.

Activists said rebels have seized parts of the road and well some neighborhoods in the city, storming the headquarters of air and military intelligence, such a progress came hours after the beginning of new offensive called it the 'South Storm' to eliminate the presence of Syrian regime forces and allied militias in Daraa.

In retaliation, Syrian air force killed 6 civilians, including a woman, in raid on the Old City of Daraa.

A rebel source said the battle is backed by 40 jacket wallahs who are ready to hit regime military bases.

Rebels in Syrian south have inflicted significant defeats on Bashir al-Assad in the last three months, notably by capturing the Nasib border crossing with Jordan on April 1.

A motivational video posted online by the operations room of 'South Storm', shows rebels' practices, weapons and readiness for the battle.

Southern region, including Daraa, is of strategic importance due to its proximity to Damascus and neighboring states Israel and Jordan. It is also the last significant foothold of mainstream rebels, who have mostly been crushed elsewhere in Syria by government forces or jihadist groups, according to AP.

[ARABNEWS] Daesh Death Eaters launched two major attacks in northern Syria on Thursday, storming government-held areas in the mostly Kurdish city of Hassakeh and pushing into Kobani -- the Syrian Kurdish border town they were expelled from early this year -- where they set off three cars bombs, killing and wounding dozens, activists and officials said.

The attacks came after the Daesh (Arabic term for Islamic State

It said the Death Eaters sustained many casualties, including the commander of the group who is a foreign fighter.

Daesh Death Eaters tried to storm the city earlier this month and reached its southern outskirts before facing strong resistance from Syrian government troops who pushed them away.

The attacks on Hassakeh and Kobani came just days after YPG fighters and their allies captured the Daesh stronghold of Tal Abyad on the border with Turkey and the town of Ein Issa to the south. Kurdish fighters have been advancing since January under the cover of Arclight airstrikes by the US-led coalition.

But in neighboring Iraq, government forces and allied Shiite forces of Evil have been slow in retaking Daesh-held territory. The Iraqis have also suffered occasional losses.

Iraqi troops drove Daesh Death Eaters from Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit in April, but lost Ramadi, the capital of Anbar province west of Baghdad, last month.

of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) group have killed 10 Syrian soldiers in the northeastern city of Hasakeh, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Wednesday.

Separately, at least 13 non-combatants were killed in a car kaboom against a mosque in a village near the capital Damascus, the monitor said.

All three incidents occurred Tuesday night, AFP reported.

"Ten soldiers were killed and 16 others injured in two suicide kabooms carried out by ISIS against army positions in Hasakeh," the Britannia-based Observatory said.

"The first attack was carried out by three jihadists against a military barracks in the center of town, while the second was carried out by one suicide bomber against a checkpoint near a children's hospital."

snuffies in Syria have stormed government-held neighborhoods in the predominantly Kurdish northeastern city of Hassakeh, capturing several areas of the city, AP reported.

Thursday's attack comes after the Islamic State group suffered several setbacks in northern Syria against Kurdish forces over the past weeks. The city of Hassakeh is divided between Bashir al-Assad's forces and Kurdish fighters.

Redur Khalil, a front man for the Kurdish People's Protection Units, or YPG, says IS snuffies attacked government-held neighborhoods on the southern edge of Hassakeh, and captured some areas.

Syrian state TV reported intense festivities inside Hassakeh's southern neighborhood of Nashawi.

Also Thursday, IS staged a new attack on the Kurdish town of Kobani, which famously resisted a months-long assault by the Islamic Death Eaters. The attack involved a suicide boom-mobileing that maimed scores.

The incident occurred near the Syria-Leb border on Friday, when Takfiri

holy warriors went through the landmines planted by Hezbollah and shortly afterwards were bombarded by Hezbollah mortars. Several others were also maimed during the incident.

According to reports, the gunnies were attempting to launch an ambush attack on Hezbollah positions in Maaraboun city, in eastern Leb, when they passed through the minefield. The sounds of the kabooms alerted the nearby Hezbollah fighters and prompted them to shell the terrorists.

Hezbollah and Syrian army began purging terrorists, both ISIL and al-Nusra Front bully boys, from Qalamoun early on May.

IS kills 164 civilians in assault on Syria's Kobane

group killed 164 civilians in its offensive on the Kurdish town of Kobane, in what a monitor Friday called one of the jihadists' "worst massacres" in Syria.

The killing spree, which took place mostly inside Kobane itself, was widely seen as vengeance for a series of defeats inflicted on the jihadists by Kurdish militia in recent weeks.

At least 120 non-combatants were killed in a 24-hour rampage on Kobane, and another 26 were executed in a nearby village, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The bullet-riddled bodies of 18 people -- including children -- were found on Friday morning in the streets of Kobane, the Britannia-based Observatory said, adding that they had been shot "at close range".

"The body of one child bore the impact of five bullets," it said.

The assault -- in which 42 IS fighters and 10 Kurds also died -- began on Thursday when three IS jacket wallahs blew up vehicles at the entrances to Kobane, a symbol of Kurdish resistance.

Women were also among civilians whose bodies were found in their homes and on the streets, the Observatory said.

"According to medical sources and Kobane residents, 120 civilians were executed by IS in their homes or killed by the group's rockets or snipers," Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP.

"When they entered the town, the jihadists took up positions in buildings at the southeast and southwest entrances, firing at everything that moved."

Local journalist Mostafa Ali said there was no military dimension to the assault.

"IS doesn't want to take over the town. They just came to kill the highest number of civilians in the ugliest ways possible," he told AFP.

"Every family in Kobane lost a family member on Thursday," Kurdish activist Arin Shekhmos said.

The jihadists entered Kobane at dawn on Thursday disguised as Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) fighters, said Ali.

They took up positions in buildings in the south of the town, using civilians as "human shields".

"There are at least 70 civilians in these various neighbourhoods that have been taken hostage by IS," Ali added.

"The YPG has sent reinforcements and have encircled the buildings, but the situation is difficult. The YPG doesn't want to hurt the women and kiddies there."

More than 1,000 fleeing civilians waited on the Syrian side of the frontier with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

on Friday, carefully watched by Turkish troops and police on the other side.

Relatives who had made it across the border cried in despair, an AFP photographer reported.

Kobane was the scene of one of IS's most dramatic defeats in January when Kurdish militia backed by US-led air strikes ousted the jihadists after four months of heavy fighting.

Terror Networks
Daesh devilry is unbounded
[ARABNEWS] Daesh executed dozens of people in different crisis zones of the Middle East on Thursday.

The terror group killed at least 23 Syrian Kurds, among them women and kiddies, in a village south of the border town of Kobani, a monitor said.

"Daesh men rubbed out at least 23 people in the Kurdish village of Barkh Butan, including women and kiddies and residents who had taken up arms to fight," the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Daesh launched a surprise attack on Kobani on Thursday, using at least two suicide boom-mobiles and clashing with Kurdish forces.

Kobani, on the border with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, is an important symbol in the battle against the radicals, having been secured by Kurdish militia with US-led air support in January after four months of ferocious fighting.

Armed bandidos bully boyz briefly entered Barkh Butan, about 20 km south of Kobani, in the morning but withdrew after coalition Arclight airstrikes and the arrival of Kurdish forces, Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman said.

At least five Death Eaters were killed in festivities with residents, the Observatory said.

Arin Shekhmos, a Kurdish activist in northern Syria, confirmed the executions.

Daesh forces of Evil beheaded 12 men from rival Syrian rebel movements accused of fighting against them, in a video released on Thursday.

It is the latest in a long series of mass beheadings by Daesh, and comes two days after the group released a video showing it killing 16 people in neighboring Iraq, drowning some of them in a cage.

Three of those killed in the new video were from Jaish al-Islam
...Liwa al-Islam (Brigade of Islam) was established by Zahran Alloush, the son of Saudi-based religious scholar Abdullah Mohammed Alloush, after Syrian authorities released him from prison in mid-2011 where he had been serving time for his Salafist activism. The group claimed responsibility for carrying out the July 2012 Damascus bombing that killed Defense Minister Dawoud Rajiha, Deputy Defense Minister Asef Shawkat, and Assistant Vice President Hassan Turkmani. It was a driving force behind actions in the Damascus region. It cooperated and conducted joint operations with al-Nusra. Front, Al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate and Daesh's main rival in the country.

While the men, whom Daesh said were captured during a battle, were apparently from Syrian rebel groups, their heads and beards were shaved, likely as an insult by Daesh.

Separately, Daesh detonated a boom-mobile and then opened fire on Iraqi troops in the western province of Anbar on Thursday, killing 14 soldiers, security sources said.

Twenty-seven soldiers were also maimed in Thursday's attack in Anbar's Nadheem Al-Taqseem region.

In the town of Hit, west of Ramadi, artillery fire and rocket attacks targeted the local irrigation department, killing nine people and wounding 13.

An ISIS tactical unit also was hit near Tel Abyad in Syria.
