Derna Shura Council fighter killed, another injured in airstrike on the city
[Libya Observer] One of the Derna Shura council fighters was killed and another was maimed on Sunday in Arclight airstrikes on Heela frontline in southern Derna.

The front man for the Derna Shura Council, Mohammed al-Mansouri, accused UAE and Egypt of air attacking, using drones, Heela and Dahar al-Hamar, as well as al-Nawar areas in southern Derna.

"Saleh al-Majri was killed and another fighter was maimed, in addition to material damage to people’s properties." al-Mansouri said on his Facebook page.

He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. 45 dead as militia, bandits clash in northern Nigeria
[AlAhram] Fighting between armed bandidos and gunnies left 45 dead in northern Nigeria, police and a local militia said Sunday, amid escalating rural violence often involving cattle rustling, robbery and kidnappings.

"The 45 bodies were found scattered in the bush. The bandidos pursued residents who mobilised to defend the village after overpowering them," said a vigilante who asked not to be named for fear of reprisals.

"The dead included children abandoned by their parents during the attack" in the village of Gwaska, in Kaduna state.

"The attackers were obviously armed bandidos from neighbouring Zamfara state who have been terrorising Birnin Gwari area," he added.

The Kaduna state police chief, Austin Iwar, confirmed the attack, saying: "There was violence between the militias, who are very powerful, and bandidos."

He could not break down the casualties, saying only: "For now all we know is that 12 people were buried yesterday and 33 today."

The vigilante said the bandidos struck at about 2:30 pm (1330 GMT) Saturday and stayed for three hours before retreating to their base in the forest in Zamfara.

"They burnt down many homes," he said.

The killings follow the death of at least 25 people in separate attacks in northern Nigeria last week.

Thirteen people were killed in prolonged festivities between cattle thieves and local civilian militia in Zamfara.

In Adamawa, in the northeast, meanwhile, at least 12 people were killed in an attack on several villages.

The attacks underlined the diversity of Nigeria's security threats that persist in the absence of a robust police force and efficient judicial system.

Nigeria is in the grip of a security crisis as nomadic herders and sedentary farmers fight over land in an increasingly bloody battle for resources.

Rural communities in Zamfara have been under siege for several years from cattle rustlers and kidnapping gangs, who have raided herding communities, killing, looting and burning homes.

To defend themselves, villages and herdsmen form vigilante groups, but they too are often accused of extra-judicial killings, provoking a bloody cycle of retaliatory attacks.

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has been criticised for failing to curb the violence, which is becoming a key election issue ahead of presidential polls in 2019.

Military and police are overstretched in Nigeria, which, along with fighting Boko Haram

jihadists in the north, is battling bully boyz and pirates in the oil-rich south, a simmering separatist movement in the east and the bloody conflict between herdsmen and farmers spanning the vast central region.

6 killed during anti-India clashes in held Kashmir
[DAWN] Indian forces killed five suspected gunnies in held Kashmire on Sunday, police said, as the second day of anti-India protests left a civilian dead and scores of people injured.

Hundreds of villagers threw rocks at Indian troops in a bid to help suspected gunnies who were trapped in a civilian home in southern Shopian area, police said. Counterinsurgency officers and soldiers cordoned the village following intelligence that a group of gunnies were hiding there, police said.

As the gunnies and soldiers fought, government forces also fired bullets, shotgun pellets and tear gas at the protesters who tried to reach the gunbattle site. At least 14 civilians were maimed and one died after being brought to a hospital.

Residents made several attempts to reach the site, barraging troops with rocks, bricks and abuse. They were trying to distract the soldiers who apart from guns and grenades also used explosives to blast the house where the rebels were cornered, residents and police said.

After several hours of fighting, five gunnies were killed and a policeman and a soldier maimed, claimed S.P. Vaid, police director-general. Anti-India protests and festivities continued in the area.

Among the slain reported gunnies were a top commander and a university assistant professor who formally joined the Lion of Islam ranks just two days ago. A statement by the University of Kashmire on Saturday said the sociology teacher, Mohammed Rafi Bhat, had been missing since Friday.

#1  I'd love to see the Iraqis get their hands on that son of a bitch that blew up that car in front of that girls school while the kids were lining up for exam back in 2004.

I ran down there because the daughter of my body guard was going to that school. I spent a lot of time providing first aid and covering bodies, trying to explain to the parents that they really don't want to see what's under the blanket.

Much worse than combat because these were kids.

I'd love to find him myself.

“The 28th brigade of al-Hashd al-Shaabi destroyed a hotbed of the Islamic State group at the eastern village of al-Dahhaj in Syria,” Knooz Media quoted the center as saying in a statement.

“The shelling left four Islamic State militants dead and several others injured,” the statement read. “The militant group also sustained severe losses as a result of the attack.”

Iraqi warplanes strike Islamic State outposts in Syria anew

Baghdad (Iraqinews.com) – Iraqi warplanes launched on Sunday a new wave of air raids against outposts of the Islamic State group in neighboring Syria, the latest in a series of airstrikes aimed at eliminating a terrorist threat coming from the neighboring country.

Today’s air raids were launched upon directives of Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi with the aim of targeting Islamic State leaders in the group’s stronghold of al-Deshisha on the Iraqi-Syrian border, Baghdad Today news website quoted Abadi’s media office as saying in a statement.

The second-of-its-kind airstrike was staged to eliminate a threat posed by Islamic State leaders against Iraq’s security and stability, according to the statement.

Last month, Spokesman for the Operation Inherent Resolve Combined Joint Task Force Army Col. Ryan Dillon praised successful air strikes launched by Iraq and U.S.-led international coalition against the Islamic State group in Syria.

Dillon, speaking from Baghdad, Iraq, shared a couple videos of airstrikes against the terrorist group while describing how Iraqi and coalition forces have detained suspected terrorists, destroyed IS tunnel systems, and destroyed IS weapons caches.
Iran PressTV adds:
Iraqi military aircraft have carried out an Arclight airstrike against high-profile members of the ISIS Takfiri

terrorist group in Syria’s northeastern province of Hasakah as Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi had pledged to continue airstrikes on the positions and headquarters of the hard boyz in the neighboring war-battered country.

Abadi’s office said in a statement that the 66-year-old prime had ordered the "painful strike" which targeted "a meeting of ISIS commanders south of al-Dushashiya desert region in Syrian territory. The position was completely destroyed."

Iraqi Joint Operations Command (JOC) front man Brigadier General Yahya Rasool later stated that F-16 fighter jets were used in the early morning strike, and the raid was "successful."

The women were also ordered to pay back any money they had received from the Sunni Moslem jihadist group, the judiciary's news website

Mizanonline quoted prosecutor Abbas Jafari-Dolatabadi as saying. Islamic State considers Iran's majority Shi'ite Moslems to be heretics.

"These women had gone to Syria to support ... ISIS (Islamic State), had received terrorist training and carried out some operations there, and were placed in durance vile

upon their return to Iran," Jafari-Dolatabadi said. The report did not specify the length of the jail terms.

Separately, a Tehran court on Sunday held the fifth hearing in the trial of eight men suspected in the killing of 18 people at the parliament and Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini's mausoleum last year‐the first deadly attack claimed by Islamic State in Tehran.

Iran has said that the five button men and jacket wallahs who were killed in the attacks had fought in the hard boys' strongholds in Syria and Iraq.

A total of 26 people have been charged in the case
