Haftar’s forces spokesman: Libyans won’t vote for constitution
[Libya Observer] The front man for the self-styled army in eastern Libya, Ahmed al-Mismari, said Wednesday in a presser that the current Libyan constitution draft is miserable and not up to the ambitions of the Libyan people, adding that the referendum law passed by the House of Representatives was done in a very "cynical manner."

Al-Mismari indicated that what he described as the Libyan army’s general command led by Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
won’t allow any more prolongation of the political crisis in Libya.

"Haftar is positive that Libyans will reject the constitution and then we should immediately go to parliamentary and presidential elections as per Gay Paree declaration of principles in last May if the constitution was rejected by the people from the first referendum round." al-Mismari said.

When Haftar returned from his murky medical treatment trip to La Belle France, he told loyalists that "it's time for the military to carry out the mission" and that they should keep away from elections as they could be "a scheme."

"Elections might be right, but they might be a scheme too, so we need the army to call the shots." He added.

Meanwhile,
...back at the alley, Slats Chumbaloni was staring into a hole that was just .45 inch in diameter and was less than three feet from his heavily sweating face ...
eastern MPs rejected the passing of the referendum law saying "30 members from Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
region" met and passed it, adding that the law violates the constitutional declaration and needs amendment first and majority of two thirds of members afterwards.

President Sisi says Egypt wants terrorist El-Ashmawi to face justice on its soil
[Al Ahram] Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has said that Egypt wants notorious Egyptian terrorist leader Hesham El-Ashmawi to be returned to his country to be held accountable for his crimes.

El-Ashmawi, a former Egyptian army officer and leader of an al-Qaeda offshoot, was captured earlier this week in Libya.

President El-Sisi made the comments during the Armed Forces' 29th anniversary seminar on Thursday, which was titled ’October: Communication of Generations’ to mark the anniversary of Egypt’s war with Israel on 6 October 1973.

El-Sisi contrasted El-Ashmawi with Ahmed El-Mansi, an Egyptian officer who was killed in festivities with Lions of Islam in North Sinai and who was part of the same Army Special Forces unit as El-Ashmawi.

"El-Mansi and El-Ashmawi are both human beings and army officers who shared the same unit in the Armed Forces. We look up to the former with pride and gratitude, while we look to hold the latter one accountable for his crimes," the president said.

El-Mansy is often lauded for having sacrificed himself for his fellow troops during fierce festivities where 26 soldiers and officers were killed in July 2017.

"The simple difference between El-Ashmawi and El-Mansi is that the former may have been confused or even a traitor, while the latter maintained the correct path, sacrificing his life to protect his country and people," El-Sisi added.

On Monday, Ahmed Mismari, front man of the Libyan National Army (LNA), which controls eastern Libya, said that El-Ashmawi was apprehended in Derna, where eastern Libyan forces are fighting terrorist groups. A picture of El-Ashmawi with blood on his face has been published by the LNA.

An Egyptian military source told Ahram Online that it is not clear when El-Ashmawi, who has been sentenced to death in Egypt, will be handed over to Egyptian authorities.

El-Ashmawi was born in 1978 and graduated in 2000 from the Military Academy. He was expelled from the Egyptian army in 2011.

El-Ashmawi, a former Special Forces officer also known as Abu Omar El-Mohager (the immigrant), has been considered among the most dangerous Lions of Islam linked to many attacks in Egypt.

In July 2015, El-Ashmawi announced the establishment of the Mourabitoun organization in Libya, which is loyal to the al-Qaeda terrorist organization.

El-Ashmawi is believed to have been involved in an liquidation attempt on former Egyptian Interior Minister Mohammed Ibrahim and the murder of top prosecutor Hisham Barakat, as well as plotting an attack on Egyptian border guards in February 2015, which resulted in the death of 29 Armed Forces personnel.

He is also believed to be behind a deadly attack on Christian pilgrims in Upper Egypt's Minya governorate in May 2017, which killed 29 people.

In January 2015, his group was suspected of staging a multi-pronged attack on the headquarters of the Army Battalion 101 headquarters in El-Arish in North Sinai, which killed 30 soldiers and officers.

An Egyptian military court sentenced him in absentia, along with 13 other terrorists, to death over the New Valley massacre in Farafra on 19 July 2014, where 22 border guards were killed.

During the Armed Forces' 29th anniversary seminar, President El-Sisi also spoke about some of the major events that have taken place in the country in recent years.

Referring to the 25 January revolution, the president described its events as a "treatment based on a false diagnosis."

"Some people tried to convince Egyptians that things can change with a magic stick," he said.

El-Sisi affirmed that the 6 October War has not ended, but continues in a different form.

"In 1973, our enemy was obvious and clear, unlike now, when our enemy is vague, our real enemy is false consciousness," the president said.

Egypt to give legal status to 120 unlicensed churches
[Al Ahram] An Egyptian presidential committee tasked with reviewing the status of unlicensed Christian places of worship is set to legalise 120 unlicensed churches in the country, al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.

This latest decision will bring the total number of unlicensed churches to receive legal status to 340 since Egypt passed a law easing regulations on church building in 2016.

The presidential committee is headed by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and its members include Minister of Legislative Councils Omar Shahin and Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Sharawy, as well as representatives from different state institutions.

Internal conflicts, assassinations, and tank attacks between Houthis on the rise
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Assassinations have become common between Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
militias, majorly caused by internal divisions and splits between top leaders.

Those who split from the militias are said to be killed directly in liquidation attacks or through blowing up their houses.

Militias in Sanaa attacked the house of Doctor Abbas Mohammed Zaid and stole documents and devices from him.

Abbas Mohammed Zaid is the brother of the 14th most wanted man by the coalition forces supporting the legitimate government in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
- Hassan Mohammed Zaid, the minister of sport in the Houthi government that is not recognized internationally, and one of the Houthi leaders.

The Zaid family is considered a supporter of Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, and it helped him enter Sanaa in September 2014.

Conflicts and splits have been increasing within the Houthi leadership lately, the biggest such incident happened a few days ago, when Abdul-Malik al-Houthi had a bloody confrontation with the mufti of the Houthi militias in Saada and Majz district specifically.

Houthi militias attacked the house of the mufti with tanks, missiles, and mortar bombs, killing more than 30 people, injuring dozens, and blowing up houses owned by supporters of the mufti.

The Houthi militias are also suppressing demonstrations that went out recently in Sanaa complaining about the plunging living standards, as soaring prices put basic commodities out of reach of many people.

Houthis tossed in the clink
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
more than 50 female activists from among the students of Sanaa University, and killed one of the security guards.

The Grand Turk
Easing frayed ties, Turkish court allows US pastor to go free
[IsraelTimes] Andrew Brunson on his way home after court convicts him, and sentences him to time served; Trump hails release.

A Ottoman Turkish court on Friday convicted an American pastor of terror charges but released him from house arrest and allowed him to leave The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor....
, a move that’s likely to ease the tensions between Turkey and the United States.

The court near the western city of Izmir sentenced Andrew Brunson to 3 years, 1 month and 15 days in prison for the conviction, but since the evangelical pastor has already spent two years in detention he won’t serve more time.

The charge of espionage against him was dropped.

Earlier, the court called two witnesses following tips from witness Levent Kalkan, who at the previous hearing had accused Brunson of aiding terror groups. The new witnesses did not confirm Kalkan’s accusations. Another witness for the prosecution said she did not know Brunson.

Brunson again denied accusations that his church aided Kurdish turbans, saying he had handed over a list of Syrian refugees whom the congregation had helped and adding that Ottoman Turkish authorities would have identified any terrorists.

"We helped everyone, Kurds, Arabs, without showing any discrimination," he said.

The pastor, who is originally from Black Mountain, North Carolina, was imprisoned for nearly two years ‐ detained in October 2016 and formally enjugged

allies. Washington slapped sanctions on two Ottoman Turkish officials and doubled tariff on Ottoman Turkish steel and aluminum imports. Those moves in August, coupled with concerns over the government’s economic management, helped trigger a Ottoman Turkish currency crisis.

India-Pakistan
Doctor who helped find Bin Laden ‘unwell’ in tiny cell
[AsiaTimes] Dr Shakil Afridi helped the CIA track down al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden but is considered a traitor in Pakistan. A new law will allow his conviction to be challenged in a higher court.

The doctor who helped the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) hunt down Osama Bin Laden – by running a fake vaccination campaign in 2011 – is being held in a high-security prison in Pakistan’s central Punjab, where he has reportedly been in very poor health.

Sources among Dr Shakil Afridi’s family and his lead attorney have confirmed that the jail authorities do not allow his lawyers to meet him. The family is also not permitted to deliver everyday essentials to Afridi, who is incarcerated in a tiny cell just 1.5 square meters (5×5 ft) in size in a heavily fortified jail equipped with high-tech security.

The prison in Sahiwal, where Dr Afridi is in solitary confinement, was built for dangerous and high profile prisoners from all over the country.

It has an automatic locking system for each cell and state-of-the-art gadgetry including CCTV cameras, computers, delta barriers, jamming devices, walkthrough gates, and watchtowers. A five-layer security cover and round-the-clock patrolling by elite Police commandoes make it the most protected jail in Pakistan.

His elder brother Jameel told Asia Times: “The facilities normally available to common prisoners under the jail manual are denied to Dr Afridi. The authorities gave me his soap, razor, towel, toothpaste, brushes, slippers, joggers, socks and vests last time I visited him in Sahiwal.”

He said Shakil’s health was deteriorating in the small detention cell where mosquitoes buzz around at night. “They turned over his prayer beads and prayer mats and refused to allow these items in the cell. The jail authorities did not even allow hair dye, which I bought for him,” Jamal lamented.

Last week, Pakistan’s newly appointed Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi was in New York for the United Nations General Assembly. During an interview with Fox News, he gave an assurance that the government was still considering whether to release Shakil Afridi.

“He is viewed as a traitor in Pakistan but a friend in the US. So we have to bridge this gap,” Fox News quoted him as saying. He claimed that Dr Afridi had undergone a legal process in Pakistan and was given a fair chance to plead his case. “He was sentenced, convicted and [is] serving a sentence and we expect you would respect our legal process, as we respect yours,” Qureshi added.

Qamar Nadeem, Dr Afridi’s lead attorney, said: “The frosty relations with the US cannot be normalized until Pakistan sympathetically reconsiders the plight of Afridi’s family, withdraws all cases against him and allows him to join his family as a free citizen.”

He alluded to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s recent visit to Islamabad, saying the government would give a boost to US-Pakistan relations if Afridi was set free. “Whatever effort they make in trying to normalize the [bilateral] relationship will not be effective until a decision is taken to determine the fate of Dr Afridi.”

The lawyer said Dr Afridi was convicted in a concocted case for helping the CIA locate Bin Laden, an act that Pakistani authorities believed was “treasonous.”
He said the charge of funding, harboring, facilitating the Lashkar e-Islam terrorist group was a way to cover the anger of the establishment. “He is languishing in jail for years facing phony charges that were never substantiated at any stage of his protracted legal battle,” Nadeem claimed.

ATC gives police final extension to submit report on absconders in Naqeeb murder case
[DAWN] An Anti-terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday gave the police a "last extension" on the deadline to provide its final report on the arrests of absconders in a case pertaining to the extra-judicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
Former Malir Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rao Anwar and three other suspects were booked for planting false evidence ‐ pistols and hand grenades ‐ on Mehsud and three others after they were killed in a shootout, and later registering a false case against the dear departed under the Sindh Arms Act for illegal possession of arms and explosives.

"We are conducting raids in efforts to arrest the absconders and will succeed soon," the Investigation Officer told the court today.

Anwar, who was present in court for the hearing, refuted reports about being moved from his Malir Cantt residence while speaking to the media outside court.

He added that he was unaware about any National Accountability Bureau inquiry into his assets.

Swedish friendship ship docks in Herzliya
About two months after the Israeli navy stopped a Swedish flag bearing ship trying to "break the siege" on Gaza in the framework of one of the protest flotillas, on Thursday evening, a friendlier ship, also from Sweden, arrived on Israeli shores.

Accompanied by dozens of small vessels, carrying Israelis providing encouragement, decorated with Israeli and Swedish flags and playing Israeli tunes such as "Hatikvah" and "Hava Nagila," the yacht "Elida" arrived at the coast of Herzliya with about 50 Israel supporting Swedes.

U.N. Envoy 'No Longer Acceptable' for Palestinians
[An Nahar] The Paleostinian leadership will no longer work with the U.N. peace envoy, a bigwig said Thursday, accusing him of overstepping his role by seeking a deal between Israel and the Islamist movement Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw,.

Ahmed Majdalani, a member of the Paleostine Liberation Organization’s (PLO) executive committee, said it had informed the U.N. secretary general that envoy Nickolay Mladenov was "no longer acceptable" to the Paleostinian government.

Mladenov had "gone beyond his role" in seeking agreements between Israel and rival Paleostinian faction Hamas, which controls Gazoo, he said, adding that his actions impacted "Paleostinian national security and the unity of our people."

There was no immediate comment from Mladenov or confirmation from the United Nations

Abbas’s government was not involved in that deal and Mladenov’s strategy has angered Paleostinian politicians.

Thai authorities to deport 70 Pakistani asylum seekers
[DAWN] Thai authorities on Thursday convicted 70 Pak asylum seekers of staying illegally in Thailand despite their protestations that they face persecution if they are sent home, as police intensify a crackdown on illegal immigration.

The Taling Chan Provincial Court issued fines and up to two-month suspended jail sentences to the group, which was charged with overstaying their visas and illegal entry. An officer in charge of the case, who declined to be named because of office policy, said they will be held in a detention centre until they are deported.

The group was accompanied by 11 children who will also be held in the detention centre.

One of the defendants, Emmanuel Shan, said the group consists mostly of Christian Paks and some belonging to the Ahmadi community, and that members of the two religious groups face persecution in Pakistain.

"I'm Christian and my life and family are not safe back in Pakistain," he said.

Iran Summons German Envoy over Extradition of 'Bomb Plot' Diplomat
[An Nahar] Tehran summoned the German ambassador on Wednesday to protest the extradition of one of its diplomats to Belgium over his alleged role in a bomb plot.

"The German ambassador to Tehran was summoned today to protest against the extradition... of one of our diplomats to Belgium," foreign ministry front man Bahram Ghasemi said in a statement.

The head of the ministry's European desk told the ambassador that the arrest and extradition were "caused by a fabricated conspiracy by enemies of Iran and European relations" and called for his swift release, the statement added.

The Iranian diplomat, who had been based in Vienna, was taken into custody in Belgium earlier on Wednesday on suspicion of involvement in an alleged plot to bomb an Iranian opposition rally in La Belle France.

The suspect was previously identified as Assadollah Asadi.

Iran has denied French accusations that he was involved in a plot targeting the annual gathering of the exiled National Council of Resistance of Iran on June 30 just outside Gay Paree.

The accusations come at a particularly sensitive time as Iran works with European powers to salvage the 2015 nuclear deal, abandoned by the United States earlier this year.

Iran’s Khamenei orders officials to resolve economic crisis
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has ordered officials to urgently find solutions to overcome a crisis spurred by the re-imposition of US economic sanctions, the semi-official Fars news agency reported on Thursday.

"There is no crisis and no problems in the country that we cannot resolve... Officials should find solutions to overcome the existing economic hardship and to disappoint the enemy by resolving it," Fars quoted Khamenei as telling officials on Wednesday night.

"With unity we can overcome all crises."

Khamenei also said Iran could resist the pressure of US sanctions by relying on its own natural and human resources.

In May, President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
pulled the United States out of a 2015 international deal that aimed to curb Iran’s nuclear program and he re-imposed sanctions on Tehran in August.

Trump plans to impose harsher sanctions in November on Iran’s oil and banking sectors.

Iran’s rial currency has lost 70 percent of its value against the US dollar since April.

US won’t give ‘one single dollar’ for Syria reconstruction until Iranian forces are out -- Pompeo
[RT] The US will spend no more money on the reconstruction of war-ravaged Syria if it does not see off Iranian troops, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said. The US previously said it would stay in Syria as long as Iran is there.

Speaking to the pro-Israel Jewish Institute for National Security of America on Wednesday, Pompeo said that Damascus should kick out Iranian elements that helped it to drive out the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS, formerly ISIS) from large swathes of its territory, if it wants to keep receiving reconstruction assistance from Washington in the future.

"If Syria doesn’t ensure the total withdrawal of Iranian-backed troops, it will not receive one single dollar from the United States for reconstruction."

Pompeo noted that Washington holds Damascus responsible for the departure of Iranian forces, saying that "the onus of expelling Iran from the country falls on the Syrian government."

While the US has long demanded that the Iranian forces, which are in Syria at the invitation of Damascus, leave their positions, it the first time Washington has linked humanitarian assistance to Iran’s complete withdrawal.

Only last August, Iran and Syria signed a defense agreement that was aimed at rebuilding Syria’s severely depleted armed forces and its military industry.
