Libya's NOC says output already shut down at El Feel oilfield
[THEBAGHDADPOST] Production at Libya’s El Feel oilfield has been shut down, National Oil Corporation (NOC) and two oil engineers based there said on Wednesday, only a few days after it had resumed operations following a months-long blockade.

NOC and one of the engineers said it was shut down by an armed group.

Production at another field, Sharara, that had also restarted after military gains by the internationally recognized government, was shut down on Tuesday.

Turkish aircraft intercepted near Misrata
[ALMASDARNEWS] A Libyan military source told RT Arabic on Thursday that a Ottoman Turkish cargo plane was intercepted along the coast of Misrata and forced to return home.

The Egyptian and Libyan media had reported that 3 Ottoman Turkish cargo planes were heading towards the western region of Libya when they were spotted by the Libyan National Army (LNA).

No further details were released about the cargo plane; however, if true, this would be an important move for the Libyan National Army, as they have been trying to prevent the Ottoman Turkish Ministry of Defense’s deliveries to the North African nation.

This news comes just a day after the Greek Navy reportedly intercepted a Ottoman Turkish fat merchantman that was en route to Libya.

Meanwhile,

About 10 dead in jihadist attack on Ivory Coast border post
[AlAhram] Suspected jihadists attacked a frontier post on Ivory Coast's border with Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other...
overnight, killing around 10 people, security sources said Thursday.

It is the first jihadist assault on Ivorian soil since March 2016, when a raid on the southeastern beach resort of Grand-Bassam left 19 people dead.

The raid "targeted an Ivorian frontier post at Kafolo," where an anti-jihadist operation had just ended, one Ivorian source said, in an account confirmed by a Burkinabe source.

An Ivorian source said 12 people were killed -- 11 soldiers and a gendarme -- while six people were maimed and two were listed as missing.

Another Ivorian source put the toll at nine dead, while a Burkinabe source said 10 troops, a gendarme and an assailant had been killed, and two people were missing.

Security analysts have long worried that a jihadist revolt in the Sahel that began in Mali in 2012 is spreading towards coastal states on the Gulf of Guinea.

Ivory Coast shares a 550-kilometre (340-mile) border with Burkina Faso, where jihadist violence has claimed nearly 1,000 lives and forced 860,000 people from their homes over the past five years.

The latest attack began at around 3 am, and took place in the same zone of northeast Ivory Coast where the two countries last month launched a ground-breaking joint operation to flush out jihadists.

"Operation Comoe," named after a river that flows through the two countries, led to the death of eight suspected jihadists, the capture of 38 others and the destruction of a "terrorist base" at Alidougou in Burkina Faso, the Ivory Coast army said on May 24.

The operation was launched after jihadists were spotted last year to the north of Ivory Coast's Comoe national park.

Security sources say they are jihadists operating in Burkina Faso who hole up in Ivory Coast.

The Grand-Bassam attack four years ago was claimed by al-Qaeda's North African affiliate, al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM).
The Jerusalem Post adds:
Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso launched a joint military operation last month to the tackle expanding threat from Islamist jihadists linked to al Qaeda and the Islamic State in the Sahel region.

DOJ reveals striking details of riot arrests, including helicopter laser strikes and precinct arson
[FoxNews] The Justice Department revealed Wednesday it has filed dozens of charges for riot-related federal offenses in the aftermath of George Floyd's in-custody death -- including for aiming a green laser pointer at an FBI aircraft overhead in Milwaukee, torching the Third Precinct police station in Minneapolis, and impersonating a U.S. Marshal in Orlando.

The crackdown comes as President Trump has repeatedly demanded a return to "LAW & ORDER" in the country. Attorney General Bill Barr exclusively told Fox News this week that "focused" investigations of the left-wing Antifa are underway, as well as a review of the role of right-wing groups.
So much for the memo from FBI Director Wray.

3 Charged in Arson at Minnesota Store During Rioting
[NTD] Three people were charged in connection with a fire at a St. Paul store during rioting in the wake of George Floyd’s death. Samuel Elliott Frey, Bailey Marie Baldus, and McKenzy Dunn, all 19, were charged with conspiracy to commit arson. All three were described as white in the criminal complaints.

On May 28 a fire was started at a health and nutrition store in St. Paul, which forms the Twin Cities with Minneapolis, causing damage to the store. Investigators with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) obtained video surveillance of people inside the store that night and, with the help of the public, were able to identify the teenagers.

The ATF and FBI recently released images of others accused of arson in the Twin Cities in late May into early June, asking members of the public to share tips.

A 23-year-old man was also charged this week in connection with an arson on May 28. Two others were charged with arson and possession of Molotov cocktails for allegedly setting fire to the Dakota County Western Service Center in Apple Valley, Minnesota, while an Illinois man was charged earlier this month for civil disorder, carrying on a riot, and possession of unregistered destructive devices for allegedly being involved in the mayhem in Minneapolis.

18 U.S. Code § 2383 - Rebellion or insurrection Whoever incites, sets on foot, assists, or engages in any rebellion or insurrection against the authority of the United States or the laws thereof, or gives aid or comfort thereto, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

Armed People at Seattle Autonomous Zone Checking IDs, Extorting Businesses: Police
[Epoch Times] People with guns are checking the identification of individuals trying to enter an area in Seattle run by far-left activists and groups like Antifa, the Seattle Police Department said.

"We have been hearing from community members that they have been subjected to barricades set up by the protesters, with some armed individuals running them as checkpoints into the neighborhood," Assistant Chief Deanna Nollette told reporters on Wednesday.

"While they have a constitutionally protected right to bear arms, and while Washington is an open carry state, there is no legal right for those arms to be used to intimidate community members," she added.

Police officials have also heard of businesses and citizens being asked to pay a fee to operate in the area, which is known as the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone and includes about 500 houses. That would be the crime of extortion, Nollette said.

Anyone feeling threatened, intimidated, or extorted should call 911, she added.

The takeover of the area was completed after police officers abandoned the Seattle Police Department’s East Precinct after threats that it would be burned down.

Because the building is connected to apartment buildings and businesses, officials made the choice to board it up and secure it before relocating officers.

Nollette said police want to return to normal operations at the precinct, which would improve response times and capabilities within the neighborhood. But there is no set plan for how to return yet, she said.

Putting up barricades and blocking some people from entering isn’t legal, the police official continued. "However, in an effort to try to cooperate and collaborate, and move forward peacefully, we’re trying to get a dialogue going so that we can figure out the way to resolve this without unduly impacting the citizens and businesses that are operating in that area," she said.

Video footage shows assaults and other crimes taking place within the autonomous zone, including footage filmed by Raz Simone, a local rapper, showing a man being assaulted for putting graffiti on an outdoor wall.

Groups who have self-identified as being part of the takeover include the Seattle Democratic Socialists of America and Antifa, a far-left group that
espouses violence.

The group has a lengthy list of demands, including abolishing the Seattle police Department, reparations for "victims of policy brutality," and a retrial of all minorities currently in prison for violent crimes.

Barricades viewed by a reporter with NTD Television, The Epoch Times’s sister media, included the phrase, "Public safety means no cops on our streets." Another slogan called for defunding the police.

The East Precinct building entrance sign was painted over to say "Seattle People Department."

Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best met with some of the occupiers on Tuesday morning, including Simone.

"I heard some people say they were in support of SPD, but after this week they lost hope and they were angry," Simone told Best, according to a local outlet. "I think a lot of the conversations you guys might want to have will be with the residents."

"I think you are right. I am actually going to go around and talk to the residents about what they are feeling and what they saw. I agree that people felt traumatized in many ways," Best said.

Asked about the zone during a separate press conference on Wednesday, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, a Democrat, told reporters, "That’s news to me, so I’ll have to reserve any comment about it."

What’s happening, though, has drawn nationwide attention.

President Donald Trump, a Republican, said Inslee and Seattle Mayor Jenny
Durkan "are being taunted and played at a level that our great Country has never seen before."

"Take back your city NOW. If you don’t do it, I will. This is not a game. These ugly Anarchists must be stooped [sic] IMMEDIATELY. MOVE FAST!" he added in a missive on social media.

Inslee told Trump in response that "a man who is totally incapable of governing should stay out of Washington state’s business."

Welcome to the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, where Seattle protesters gather without police
[SEATTLETIMES] Welcome to the CHAZ, the newly named Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, where most everything was free Tuesday.Free snacks at the No-Cop Co-op. Free gas masks from some guy’s sedan. Free speech at the speaker’s circle, where anyone could say their piece. A free documentary movie — Ava DuVernay’s "13th" — showing after dark.

A Free Capitol Hill, according to no shortage of spray paint on building facades. And perhaps most important to demonstrators, the neighborhood core was free of uniformed police.

A new protest society — centered on a handful of blocks in Seattle’s quirky, lefty Capitol Hill — has been born from the demonstrations that pushed the Seattle Police Department out of its East Precinct building.

On Tuesday, demonstrators hung a banner on the cop shoppe: "THIS SPACE IS NOW PROPERTY OF THE SEATTLE PEOPLE." Teenagers passed a bottle on the exit ramp for police vehicles. A young man carried a long rifle down the sidewalk, despite the mayor’s ban on weapons in Capitol Hill, which has not been clearly enforced.

A man passed out flyers calling for a Thursday meeting to help answer the question now lingering for demonstrators.
Continues in the same slobbering manner for paragraph after paragraph, including the obligatory...
Unconfirmed rumors circulated among demonstrators that white supremacists intend to target protesters now that police are gone, Lee said, which was concerning.

Lee supports redirecting funding toward social services and re-envisioning the role of police, which she said wasn’t working for the community or the police.

“I do wonder if that’s going to work long term or not,” Lee said of the autonomous zone. “But, I’m willing to see and find out.”
Ever so scary! And the drooly...
“We’re not real easy with the autonomous zone. My understanding is they’re patrolling and protecting, but they’re just random guys and they have a gun,” Hendrickson said, referring to reports of armed people on the Hill. “The street’s barricaded so emergency vehicles can’t get through.” (Demonstrators during a Wednesday live stream said they were responding to community concerns over egress.)

Seattle police Wednesday said they wanted to identify and talk with protest leaders about reopening the precinct.

Seattle 'autonomous zone' has armed guards, local businesses being threatened with extortion
[FOXNEWS] Seattle police say they have received reports of armed guards and potential extortion in a self-declared autonomous zone that spans several blocks and includes a now-closed precinct.

"We’ve heard, anecdotally, reports of citizens and businesses being asked to pay a fee to operate within this area. This is the crime of extortion. If anyone has been subjected to this, we need them to call 911," Assistant Chief of Police Deanna Nollette said on Wednesday.

Protesters calling to defund the police and make sweeping reforms to law enforcement tactics have declared a six-block region -- spanning 13th Avenue past 11th Avenue, near Cal Anderson Park, and from East Olive Street to East Pike Street -- the "Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone" (CHAZ).

The region encompasses the SPD's East Precinct, which was abandoned by cops on Monday following days of violent festivities between law enforcement and protesters in the wake of George Floyd's death, as well as parts of Capitol Hill.

Officers retreated from the area in an effort to quell the violence-- which included multiple shootings, one that was sparked after a man rammed his vehicle into a crowd of protesters. Police officers have deployed tear gas and pepper spray to disperse large groups of people.

"We wanted to be able to facilitate and support peaceful demonstrations," Nollette said.

Demonstrations within the autonomous zone have been mostly peaceful, with no reports of violence, but police say armed guards have been surrounding the perimeter of the region and residents who live within the boundaries are "forced to show ID to prove you "belong" there," a law enforcement official told Fox News.

#1  " armed guards have been surrounding the perimeter of the region and residents who live within the boundaries are "forced to show ID to prove you "belong" there," a law enforcement official told Fox News."

So equal protection for the residents of this are is essentially gone.

Property and business owners in the US will now have to assess the likelihood of their local governments ceding their neighborhood to totalitarian. extortionist militias, at least temporarily.

CHAZ itself may be small, but the signal is clear.

Local governments have found a way to mete out devastating punishment to citizens.

Also the new power structures in the ceded areas would enforce conformity unimpeded by civil & human rights restrictions to government power.

The Grand Turk
Turkish Court Sentences US Consulate Employee to Prison Term Over Spying, Ties to Gulen
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]
The case was one of the key issues souring the already deteriorating relations between The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
and the US, along with Washington's reluctance to extradite Fethullah Gülen
... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world. Gülen and Erdogan used to be really good friends, but only one of them could be sultan, and Gülen lost...
, a major Ottoman Turkish opposition figure, which Ankara accuses of staging a military coup attempt.

A Ottoman Turkish court has sentenced US Consulate employee Metin Topuz to 8 years and 9 months in prison on charges of espionage and aiding a terrorist group. The US reacted to the news calling the court's decision disappointing.

Topuz, who was working as a liaison officer for the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), is accused of contacting law enforcement officials linked to Fethullah Gulen, an Islamic scholar, major opposition figure, and a founder of the FETO movement. The Ottoman Turkish government believes Gulen and FETO were the criminal masterminds behind the botched 2016 military coup that sought to overthrow President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
The US Consulate staffer denies all the charges levelled against him. Topuz insists that all of his contacts with Ottoman Turkish law enforcement officers were part of his job as the DEA liaison officer.

The arrest of the American Consulate employee in 2017 sparked a diplomatic crisis between Turkey and the US, who called the accusations against Topuz unsubstantiated. His arrest became one of the key issues spoiling the two states' bilateral relations along with Washington's refusal to hand over Gulen to the Ottoman Turkish judiciary system.

Palestinian with knife arrested outside West Bank settlement
[IsraelTimes] IDF says it is investigating suspect’s motive; Samaria Regional Council claims detainee was planning on carrying out terror attack in Itamar.

The IDF arrested a Paleostinian carrying a knife just outside a settlement in the northern West Bank on Tuesday, foiling what a settler leader said could have been a terror attack.

Israeli troops were dispatched to the area after the suspect was identified outside Itamar, the army said, adding that soldiers had gun sex in order to carry out the arrest.

The suspect, who was found to be carrying a knife, was transferred for interrogation, the army said, adding that it was still probing the circumstances and motive of the incident.

However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...
according to a statement from the Samaria Regional Council, Itamar’s civilian security squad had already detained the man by the time the IDF arrived.

The security team been carrying out a routine drill when they spotted the suspect trying to cut the fence.

"The members of the civilian security squad ran after him, and the terrorist tried to attack them after being threatened. Upon realizing that he had been caught, the suspect threw his knife on the ground," the statement said, adding that the settlers apprehended the suspect until the army arrived.

Hezbollah money launderer dead under murky circumstances
[Jpost] Top-ranking Hezbollah commander Hassan Mahmoud Farhat was reported dead under circumstances that are not clear at the time of this writing, KAN tweeted on Thursday evening.

Sources close to Hezbollah report that Farhat was killed in accident in his village in southeast Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...

#2  June 2019: Paraguayan authorities extradited Nader Mohamad Farhat yesterday to Miami, where he faces criminal charges of money laundering. Farhat’s case should reveal the magnitude of $ laundering in the Tri-Border Area of Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay, including the role played by Lebanese Hezbollah.
A Miami federal court will decide whether Farhat will be tried there or in New York where he faces charges as an alleged co-conspirator involving another Paraguayan national of Lebanese origin, Mahmoud Ali Barakat. He and three others are accused of assisting in laundering drug monies inside the U.S.
Court documents refer to Farhat as a “known money launderer for narcotics organizations and other illicit organizations,” while media reports allege a possible connection to Hezbollah.

YPJ riot squads raid al-Hol camp to root out ISIS women
[RUDAW.NET] Security forces are continuing an inspection campaign in al-Hol camp aimed at preventing further chaos inside the camp being chronically stirred up by women loyal to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS).

Dozens of armed riot police led by the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) combed through hundreds of crowded tents as camp authorities began a campaign yesterday to register camp residents’ biometric data, reported local media Hawar News Agency (ANHA), which is tied to the People’s Protection Units (YPG).

The sweep campaign is targeting al-Hol’s "immigrant section" — designated for foreign ISIS families — in efforts to root out secret ISIS cells that have been created by women within the camp and have been spreading chaos for its residents. ANHA reported on Thursday that YPJ anti-terrorist squads and riot control units are overseeing the sweep of the camp.

Al-Hol camp has witnessed multiple attack in recent months, in which women who adhere to the radical ideology of the jihadist group have rioted in the camp, attacking guards of the camp, or burning down tents of women who they see as violating their strict rules by talking to men, or removing their veils.

Sheikhmous Ahmed, who oversees all displacement camps in Rojava, told Rudaw English late Wednesday that they aim to put an end to the "chaos" created by ISIS women in the camp. "There have been escape attempts, arson, attempted murder, and attacks on camp officials," Ahmed said.

He also said that some of the camp residents have refused to reveal their real identities, even to international organizations who work in the camp in coordination with the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (NES).

Thousands of women and kiddies of suspected ISIS fighters at al-Hol camp will be officially registered in a bid to boost security and "improve living conditions" in the camp, NES officials said Wednesday.

Al-Hawl camp reducing citric acid entry into the camp as a result of finding large quantities of inflammable bottles inside ISIS wives' tents
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]
Mr. Wife, who knows a thing or two about chemicals, cannot imagine a non-molotov cocktail reason why prison campers might want citric acid.
In industry it’s used to make soft drinks, laundry detergent, and pickling steel, whatever that is, none of which is useful to the residents of a prison camp.

#1  and pickling steel, whatever that is,

It's like pickling cucumbers... if your cukes were coated with a thin layer of oxidized metal.

Seriously, I have no idea what is going on here. The article seems to have been journalismed into incomprehensibility. I don't see how citric acid would be of use in a molotov, except perhaps dumping it out on the ground and filling the container with gasoline.

#6  Citric acid mixed with isopropyl alcohol makes a spray that works on mites and the like. Perhaps its nothing more than a bug killer. But no. Bugs in a refugee camp? Unthinkable.

#8  Citric acid is listed by the FDA as "Generally Recognized As Safe" (GRAS) as of 10 June 2020.

TITLE 21--FOOD AND DRUGS
CHAPTER I--FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION

SUBCHAPTER B--FOOD FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION (CONTINUED)
PART 184 -- DIRECT FOOD SUBSTANCES AFFIRMED AS GENERALLY RECOGNIZED AS SAFE
Subpart B--Listing of Specific Substances Affirmed as GRAS
Sec. 184.1033 Citric acid.
Maybe used as a topical disinfectant? Maybe a norovirus antagonist? Not going to be very effective at melting faces off, but will likely irritate the heck out of the eyes.
