UNSMIL: Rival Libyan Military Commanders Have Reached an Agreement
[LIBYAREVIEW] On Monday, the Acting Special Representative of the Secretary-General and head of the United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
Support Mission to Libya (UNSMIL), Stephanie Williams, said that the 5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC) decided to have its main headquarters in the city of Sirte. The JMC is finishing on its two-day meeting in the southern Libyan city of Ghadames, and Mrs. Williams has specified that the Commission had already accomplished its objectives. In a presser, Williams announced that the Libyan warring parties agreed to form a military committee to oversee the return of the forces to their barracks and the withdrawal of foreign forces from all front lines.

The UNSMIL head added that they also agreed on measures with regard to monitoring the ceasefire with the participation of international observers, in addition to holding a meeting in Brega between commanders of the Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG) of both sides on 16th November.

She added that the parties also agreed that the next meeting will be in the city of Sirte this month," and stressed on the need for "an immediate return of flights to the city of Sebha and Ghadames."

Williams noted that the subcommittee, formed by the 5+5 Joint Military Commission, will continue to swap detainees until the completion of this file," noting that the two parties also agreed to "form specialized engineering teams to remove mines, in cooperation with the General Intelligence Service and the United Nations."

She confirmed that the JMC had also agreed to work on "forming a committee to address hate speech."

Notably, US Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland welcomed the efforts of Libyan participants in the Joint Military Commission’s (JMC) consultations in Ghadames to implement the ceasefire agreement.

Norland said it is with courageous efforts that the Libyan parties begin to take concrete steps toward the ultimate departure of foreign forces and mercenaries.

"This important trajectory will continue when a broad and representative group of Libyans gathers in Tunis beginning on 9th November for the UN-facilitated Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF)," he noted.

The US ambassador confirmed that the LPDF aims to finalize a roadmap to national elections through which all Libyans would exercise their sovereign and inalienable right to choose their future through democratic means.

Boko Haram Attack: We didn't receive distress calls from Borno village — NAF
[THESTREETJOURNAL.ORG] The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has refuted a publication in an online platform, which alleged that it did not respond to calls for support when suspected bandidos bully boys attacked Takulashi Village, Chibok Local Government Area of Borno. The Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters, Ibikunle Daramola, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

"NAF wishes to state that there is absolutely no iota of truth in the spurious allegations that it failed to respond to calls for support following information allegedly obtained by the online platform, which said it received the report on Sunday, November 1," Mr Daramola, an air commodore, said.

"Indeed, we ordinarily would not have responded to such baseless, unfounded allegations but for the need to set the record straight and reaffirm NAF’s commitment to ensure the security of Nigeria and Nigerians, wherever they may reside.

"For the avoidance of doubt, it must be stated that NAF did not receive any call for support regarding an attack on the Village.

"Had any such report been received, NAF, in its characteristic responsiveness, would have certainly taken appropriate action," he said.

Mr Daramola said that the report rightly remarked that if air support came on time, one or two air strikes would have decimated them.

Nigeria's Government Blamed for Not Preventing 'Herdsmen' Violence
[THETABLET.ORG] A priest and a nun, both Nigerian-born, say their homeland’s government deserves the blame for more than 13,000 murders of Christians since 2001.

Father Cosmas Nzeabalu and Sister Elizabeth Ogbu, both assigned to the Diocese of Brooklyn, told The Tablet that they believe the Nigerian government, led by President Muhammadu Buhari, has done little to prevent ongoing violence between Moslem cattle herders and Christian farmers.

The herdsmen predominately belong to the Fulani
... a peculiarly brutal tribe of Moslem herdsmen infesting Mali, Niger, Nigeria, and probably other places that are light on law and order and heavy on tribal identity...
tribe from the arid north, while Christians, including Catholics, dominate the south’s verdant farmlands. The two groups want access to good agricultural land at Nigeria’s center, called the "Middle Belt." Herdsmen have participated in the killing of 13,079 Christians between 2001-2019, according to estimates from the International Committee on Nigeria.

At the same time, Islamic snuffies from the group Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
have resorted to terror, said Father Cosmas, coordinator of the Nigerian apostolate for the diocese.

"Boko Haram destroys churches and western education," he said, "and then the herdsmen get into every nook and cranny with their cows. When the Christian farmers reject that, it results in them getting killed."

Sister Elizabeth works at Catholic Telemedia Network, developing a digital-based curriculum for Catholic schools. CTN is a service of DeSales Media Group, the parent company of The Tablet.

She said the Fulani want "greener pastures" for cattle but added that "as time goes on, it turns out to be a religious thing."

The proof is the violence spreading from the fields to churches in villages and suburbs. Clergy and worshipers, including children, are kidnapped or murdered, according to Sister Elizabeth.

"It’s not just about a fight that busts out," she explained. "They go into churches and burn them down while people are inside worshiping. This is deliberate; it is planned."

For example, Father Cosmas pointed to recent trouble in the state of Kaduna. In August, button men believed to be Fulanis arrived on cycle of violences, killed one man, and burned down a Baptist church. They also held a teacher and four students hostage but released them in mid-October after a ransom payment.

The victims know the attackers aren’t from Boko Haram because they recognize them as herdsmen encountered in the fields, Sister Elizabeth said.

Attackers typically use clubs, rocks, machetes, and crude hunting rifles made from antique and modern gun parts. They also weaponize cattle, spurring stampedes to trample crops.

But now, the herdsmen brandish AK-47 rifles. A single AK-47 costs a few hundred U.S. dollars — probably too expensive for an average herdsman’s wages. Sister Elizabeth, therefore, thinks they’re getting help.

Nigeria: 75 Boko Haram terrorists killed
[AA.TR] At least 75 members of the Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
terrorist group were killed in operations in northeastern Nigeria, the Defense Ministry said Tuesday.

Security forces conducted land and air operations in areas of Borno state, the epicenter of the insurgency in the country, against Boko Haram between Sept. 28 and Oct. 31, according to Acting Director of Defense Media Operations Brig. Gen. Benardo Onyeuko.

He said along with the killings, shelters were destroyed and four armored vehicles of the terror group were seized.

But many maimed Death Eaters managed to escape, he said.

Around 3 million people have been displaced in more than a decade of terror activities by Boko Haram.

Scores of civilians are still trapped in remote communities and are unable to flee because of a lack of security on roads.

Armenian forces stifle Azerbaijani advance into key city
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Artsakh Defense Army (ADA) squared off against a unit from the Azerbaijani Armed Forces last night, as the latter attempted to push into the strategic city of Shusha in southern Karabakh.According to local activists, the Artsakh Defense Army was able to beat back the Azerbaijani attack after an intense battle south of Shusha.

At the same time, the Armenian Minister of Defense, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, corroborated these reports, pointing out that the Artsakh Defense Army is control of the situation.

"After midnight, Az. side made a subversive attempt in the direction of #Shoushi, but facing the organized resistance of the army units & volunteers was repulsed.

Neutralization of the Az. subversive group is underway.

#Artsakh DA units control the operative-tactical situation."

In addition to their attempts to capture Shusha, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces also heavily targeted the aforementioned city and the capital of Karabakh, Stepanakert, with artillery and missiles, which resulted in a number of explosions in this disputed region.

Video footage captured from Stepanakert last night showed the moment the Azerbaijani forces targeted the capital city.
