province early hours of Tuesday morning, provincial governor Sayed Waheed Qatali said.

The attack took place at around 2 am in Ghorian district in Herat province following a boom-mobile explosion close to police HQ and a public uprising force outpost, Qatali said.

"The security forces targeted the Taliban’s explosive-laden vehicle before reaching it’s target," he said adding that "the festivities continued for several hours but after the arrival of the reinforcements, the Taliban were pushed backed from the area."

"Taliban also suffered casualties in the festivities," he added.

Taliban so far has not commented on the attack.

Taliban Attacks Rising Despite Intl Efforts for Peace
[ToloNews] Despite not officially announcing a spring fighting season, the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
has increased attacks in various regions of the country—including the strategic areas of Kandahar in the south, Balkh in the north, Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
in the west and Nangarhar

in the east.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, Butch clutched at his other leg......
military analysts attributed the surge in violence by the Taliban to the group's attempt to pressure the Afghan government, and to gain leverage in the grinding of the peace processor.

Statistics indicate that at least 16 security force members have been killed and 14 more maimed as a result of Taliban attacks in the past 24 hours.

Local officials in Herat said that last month all 15 districts in the province saw unprecedented violence. Shindand, Oba, Pashtun Zarghoon, Kashk, Gulran, Ghoryan and Chisht-e-Sharif districts all saw some of the fiercest battles during the past month, they said.

According to the local officials, during the first week of Ramadan, the Taliban launched 36 attacks on several parts of Herat province.

"A boom-mobile was discovered in Shindand, a kaboom occurred in Zindajan, another boom-mobile was en route to a target in Gulran but they failed to detonate it," said Sayed Wahid Qatali, the governor of Herat.

Balkh province, in northern Afghanistan, was once relatively calm but over the past month violence has drastically increased in the province.

Local officials in Balkh have said that the level of violence has significantly increased in Chamtal, Chaharbolak, Sholgara, Daulatabad, Kashanda, Charkant and Zari.

"Fierce fighting occurred between the two sides, casualties were inflicted on the opponent side, including casualties sustained by govt forces," said Afzal Hadid, the head of the Balkh provincial council.

In the south, the situation continues to remain fragile as the Taliban continue to attack districts such as Panjwayi, Zhari, Arghandab and Arghisstan.

Recently the Afghan cops launched a series of operations in Arghandab and Panjwayi to push back Taliban fighters.

"There is no work, they said 'come and fight jihad, there is war, let's occupy Kandahar,' this was their justification but Kandahar will not collapse," said Sayed Jan Khakrezwal, the head of Kandahar's provincial council.

In the eastern province of Nangarhar attacks have occurred in Surkhrod, Sherzad and Achin districts.

"They often launch attacks on the security checkpoints; however, in response, their attacks are naturalized," said Attaullah Khogyani, a front man for Nangarhar's governor.

"Peace negotiation is the job of our elders, but our responsibility is to suppress the criminals and the Taliban anywhere they try to appear, we have said this to the defense and security forces," said acting Minister of Interior Hayatullah Hayat.

Recently sources said that eight police members were killed and three more were maimed in a Taliban attack on their outpost in Zibak district in the northeastern province of Badakhshan after midnight on Tuesday.

The Sarkohi area is located in the center of Zibak district, and sources said it fell to the Taliban after hours of festivities. However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
the outpost was retaken by security forces, sources said.

According to sources, the Taliban has also suffered casualties in the attack.

The increase in violence comes amid stalled peace efforts and the announcement of the US forces' withdrawal from the country.

According to the Afghan security agencies, the rise in Taliban attacks is part of their spring offensive, but the Taliban have so far not officially announced their spring offensive.

[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] A Sudanese court sentenced to prison on Monday the first figure from the regime of ousted President Omar al-Bashir
...Former President-for-Life of Sudan He came to power in 1989 when he, as a brigadier in the Sudanese army, led a group of officers in a bloodless military coup that ousted the government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi and eventually appointed himself head cheese. He fell out with his Islamic mentor, Hasan al-Turabi, tried to impose shariah on the Christian and animist south, resulting in its secessesion, and attempted to Arabize Darfur by unleashing the barbaric Janjaweed on it. Sudan's potential prosperity has been pissed away in warfare that has left as many as 400,000 people dead and 2.5 million displaced. Hee was overthrown by popular consent in 2019. Omar has been indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court but nothing is expected to come of it...
Abdul Basit Hamza was convicted of money laundering, terrorist financing, trading in foreign currency and unlawful and suspicious enrichment. He was sentenced to ten years in jail and a fine.

According to the indictment, Hamza is one of Sudan’s Islamist security leaders and had operated as "an independent businessman."

He had invested money from looted public funds in the Islamic Movement (the Sudanese version of the Moslem Brüderbund). His wealth is estimated at billions of dollars.

The Public Prosecution said Hamza was convicted under articles of the Unlawful and Suspicious Enrichment Act of 1989 and was sentenced to five years in prison.

The court also condemned him under Article 35 of the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Act, sentencing him to another five years.

Hamza worked for the so-called "Islamic Movement Cell in the Sudanese Army" and exploited his influence to loot more than two billion dollars, reports quoted member of the committee for dismantling the ousted June 30 regime Salah Manna as saying.

As Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sudanese Mobile Telephone Company (MOBITEL), Hamza controlled the telecommunications sector in the country, Manna added.

He revealed that the detainee helped sell the company to foreign investors at a price that does not exceed 10 percent of its real value.

A security source said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media that the bad boyz were potted during festivities that lasted more than 13 hours in the town of Dikwa in Borno state.

Several other members of the terrorist group were maimed yet managed to escape.

Vehicles belonging to the murderous Moslems and a significant amount of ammunition was also destroyed, said the security source.

, prompting a military response.

More than 30,000 people have been killed and nearly 3 million displaced in a decade of Boko Haram's terrorist activities in Nigeria, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

Violence committed by Boko Haram has affected some 26 million people in the Lake Chad region and displaced 2.6 million others, according to the UN Refugee Agency.
All Africa adds:
Military authorities said yesterday that ground troops and the Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole engaged holy warriors in 12 gun trucks in a fire-fight killing scores of fighters from Boko Haram and the Islamic State for West African Province (ISWAP).

It said "the Lions of Islam in their numbers mounted on 12 gun trucks attacked the town on the Sunday, April 18, 2021, just as the locals prepared to break their Ramadan fast for the day.

Nigeria: Soldiers Working With Boko Haram Expose Civilian Collaborators
[All Africa] Some soldiers arrested in the crack down on Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
funders have disclosed the identities of their civilian collaborators, according to sources.

The arrests of the officers came after an in-depth investigation into connections between Boko Haram members and military officers, that they helped to infiltrate into the army and sabotage efforts to end insurgency in Nigeria.

Daily Trust had reported how the Federal Government launched an operation against suspected financiers and collaborators of Boko Haram.

The ongoing inter-agency operation is being led by a top intelligence officer, with an army general leading a task team comprising military personnel and staff from intelligence services.

Multiple sources informed Daily Trust that the closely-guarded operation is being coordinated by Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

As part of the operation, billions of naira traced to businesses belonging to persons of interest have been blocked in banks in series of "post no debit" letters sent out to banks by the CBN and NFIU.

Twenty soldiers who were arrested in the operation are currently being detained in Borno State.

"About 20 of them were arrested in Borno and detained. In the course of interrogation they revealed a lot including the identity of some of their civilian collaborators who were also arrested," a source told Daily Trust.

The ongoing operation, Daily Trust gathered, is the first phase of activities lined up by the task team to crack the riddle of how Boko Haram, kidnappers and other criminals fund their operations and launder the proceeds.

When contacted, spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, Major General Mohammed Yerima, said he was not aware of the arrest of army officers in connection with allegation of collaboration with Boko Haram elements.

He also referred the question on the military’s involvement in the operation to the DSS, saying issues to do with arrests on charges of terrorism financing is under the purview of the DSS.

Spokesperson of the DSS, Peter Afunaya, when contacted on Friday, promised to make findings on the issue and revert to our news hound. He, however, did not get back as of the time of filing this report. He did not respond to a text message sent to him to follow up and ignored repeated phone calls thereafter.

Dozens of Turks sneak into Europe in passport scam: report
[Rudaw] The Ottoman Turkish government on Monday widened an investigation into claims dozens of people had used special passports to enter Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
legally and never returned.
Yeah, they'll get right to the bottom of that
The scandal has dominated local headlines since it emerged last week that 43 people with grey service passports entered Germany last November to attend an environmental workshop and never returned to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
Grey passports are issued to people working abroad for the state, allowing visa-free travel to many countries.

They were sent by a local district municipality in the eastern province of Malatya, according to local media.

The interior ministry in a statement on Monday said the probe would be widened to include six more local municipalities in cities including Ordu on the Black Sea.

The six included ruling and main opposition party mayors.

They had sent individuals for "folk dance shows, culture tours, youth programmes" in cooperation with non-governmental organizations, the interior ministry said.

It also temporarily suspended issuing service-stamped passports for non-public sector employees who were assigned to work abroad by local authorities.

Last week, the ministry suspended the deputy governor of Malatya, two public officials and the provincial head of the population and citizen affairs body over the scandal.

One source told HaberTurk website how people paid 6,000 euros ($7,200) for the passport to go to Germany through Bingol municipality in eastern Turkey.

They also claimed at least "450-500" people went to Europe using this method.

In a video posted online by Anka News Agency, the main opposition party mayor of Yesilova in southwestern Turkey said the claims relating to his district dated back to 2018, before he was elected.

Mumtaz Senel said 387 people were sent to Rome with grey passports but 23 never returned their passports.

Numerous ISIS members have been found in Turkey.

Turkey has been accused of financial and military support of ISIS, according to a report from a former UN advisor, conduct Ankara has denied.

A Yazidi girl taken captive in 2014 was rescued during a raid in the Ottoman Turkish capital Ankara in February. Police said that one of her captors was said to be a senior ISIS member from Iraq.

Several other Yazidi children have been found with ISIS-linked families in Turkey.

'Unbearable' conditions push Biden administration to close Houston migrant center
[ABCNEWS.GO] The Biden administration over the weekend shuttered a Houston warehouse that housed unaccompanied migrant children following allegations that the nonprofit organization running the site failed to provide adequate living conditions for hundreds of maiden of tender yearss, multiple sources familiar with the matter told ABC News.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) opened the warehouse early this month in response to the surge of migrants colonists arriving at the southern border.

Exclusive video shot by ABC News showed buses removing more than 100 girls from the emergency intake center on Saturday. Until its closure, the facility had been run by a Houston-based nonprofit with no prior experience housing unaccompanied migrant children.

Sources familiar with the facility's operation said the girls housed there, aged 13-17, were at times instructed to use plastic bags for toilets because there were not enough staff members to accompany them to restrooms. A spokesperson for the nonprofit would neither confirm nor deny these allegations to ABC News.

A lack of outdoor space meant girls spent most of the day on makeshift cots surrounded by boxes intended to offer some semblance of privacy, according to the sources. The facility also suffered from overcrowding and failed to comply with pandemic-related distancing measures, the sources said.

[KhaamaPress] An Afghan official said Monday, that a key Taliban
...Arabic for students...
commander for eastern Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
was killed in northwestern Pakistain.

The Taliban commander was shot and killed in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa region of Pakistain.

Nangarhar Governor, Zia ul Haq
...the creepy-looking former dictator of Pakistain. Zia was an Islamic nutball who imposed his nutballery on the rest of the country with the enthusiastic assistance of the nation's religious parties, which are populated by other nutballs. He was appointed Chief of Army Staff in 1976 by Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, whom he hanged when he seized power. His time in office was a period of repression, with hundreds of thousands of political rivals, minorities, and journalists executed or tortured, including senior general officers convicted in coup-d'état plots, who would normally be above the law. As part of his alliance with the religious parties, his government helped run the war against the Soviets in Afghanistan, providing safe havens, American equipiment, Saudi money, and Pak handlers to selected mujaheddin. Zia died along with several of his top generals and admirals and the then United States Ambassador to Pakistain Arnold Lewis Raphel when he was assassinated in a suspicious air crash near Bahawalpur in 1988...
Amarkhel named the Death Eater commander "Nek Mohammad", who was assassinated in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa of Pakistain.

According to Amarkhel, two other bully boyz accompanying Nek Mohammad including Azizullah known as Mustafa were also injured in the Haji Camp area of Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistain's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire...
Amarkhel did not provide further details on who was behind the killing of this Taliban commander in Peshawar.

They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. (ISIS) members have been arrested in a number of towns across the province in the past three months.

One of those detained is Abu Ali Jumaili, the ISIS Wali (governor) of Fallujah who is said to have entered the Kurdistan Region using a fake identity card.

The suspects were arrested after "obtaining intelligence and collecting evidence on a ISIS [ISIS] terrorist group who were reorganizing in a number of towns," the Asayish said in a statement seen by Rudaw English.

The suspects "intended to carry out a number of terrorist attacks," it added, with raids carried out in Garmiyan, west Sulaimani, Sharazur and Raparin in February, March and April.

One of the detainees, found in Peshdar district on the Iranian border in February, was responsible for erecting an ISIS flag in Said Sadiq, the security forces said.

Ten people were arrested in February in connection with the incident, when a bomb was found under the flag placed in the district east of Sulaimani city.

Jumaili was detained in Chamchamal a month later, on March 25. Asayish said he was previously a member of Al Qaeda but pledged allegiance to ISIS in 2014, becoming the deputy Wali for northern Iraq and later the Wali of Fallujah.

Asayish dismantles a huge ISIS network extending in Kurdistan
[SHAFAQ] The Internal Security Forces (Asayish) of Kurdistan dismantled a large ISIS network with tentacles extending to multiple governorates of the Region.

The Asayish tracked and apprehended 22 ISIS operatives in 22 separate security operations in al-Sulaymaniyah, Garmyan, Shemchemal, Sayyid Sadiq, and Bashdar.

The Asayish identified and detained a group of terrorists; most notably "Abu Ali al-Jamili", who served in the terrorist organization of ISIS as the "Wali of Fallujah". He was arrested upon his attempt to enter the region using a fake ID.

Among the other terrorists, there were "Bin Laden al-Kurdi", "Habib", "Abu Anas", "Dr. al-Bukhari", "Abu Shhab", "Muhammad al-Kurdi", and "Anas al-Kurdi" who joined ISIS in 2020 via social media. al-Kurdi used to train ISIS Death Eaters in "explosives manufacturing" and took part in several terrorist operations.

Upon investigation, the Internal Security Forces of al-Sulaymaniyah were able to trace a network of ISIS operatives plotting to conduct a series of terrorist operations.

After obtaining arrest warrants by the Asayish Investigative Magistrate, the Operation squads of the Asayish in al-Sulaymaniyah, Garmyan, west al-Sulaymaniyah, Raperin, and Sharazur embarked on a large-scale operation to arrest the 22 wanted terrorists. They already have organized themselves in sleeper cells.

The 22 arrestees confessed to attempting to establish ISIS sleeper cells in preparation for serial attacks in the region. They were trained on explosives manufacturing. Their plans included blasting many targets, abduction, assassinating security officers involved in ISIS combating, and destroying gravestones of Martyrs who perished in the ISIS war.

The Asayish said that the arrestees were taught the terrorist ideology on social media and used it to recruit people, promote their ideology, and expand their gangs.

The Asayish administration expressed gratitude to the Asayish officers who worked on the case in al-Sulaymaniyah, Garmyan, west al-Sulaymaniyah, Sharazur, and Raperin, and the people of Kurdistan Region for their support and cooperation, stressing that it will spare no effort to curb and abort any terrorist plots that might threat Kurdistan and its people.

Turkey Avoids Clash with Iran-Backed Forces in Iraq, Attacks Kurdish Villages Instead
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Ottoman Turkish warplanes staged Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s on Monday against the northern mountainous terrain of Duhok province in Iraqi Kurdistan. Targets hit by the raid are believed to be held by members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

No human casualties were reported, but a security source in the Amedi district told Asharq al-Awsat that Ottoman Turkish fighter jets attacked two villages located at the base of mountain Mtein after midnight on Monday.

Speaking under the conditions of anonymity, the source added that another two villages at the base of mountain Karah were also targeted.

"Areas targeted by Ottoman Turkish raids are uninhabited, so the bombing did not cause any casualties, but it caused panic among the residents of the nearby villages as smoke plumes were seen rising in the area," they explained.

Hashem Ahmed, a local from Amedi district, reported that Ottoman Turkish jets could be heard soaring over the region before six explosions went off near the villages of Banavi and Korki.

"Ottoman Turkish aircrafts usually target any human presence in these areas, which endangers the lives of herders and farmers there," Ahmed told Asharq al-Awsat, adding that many pastures and farmlands have been grazed by the raids.
