Afghanistan
Daily Evacuation Brief July 20, 2023
Every day, in every way, the Taliban make everything worser and worser. (Yes, I know that is grammatically incorrect, but rhetorically it works. See the other Afghanistan Page 2 articles to see more examples.)
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • WOMEN PROTESTING SALON CLOSURES VIOLENTLY DISPERSED – A planned protest that involved dozens of women took place in Kabul yesterday when women came out to condemn the closures of beauty salons. Taliban security forces reportedly broke the protest up using water cannons, tasers, tear gas, and there were scattered reports that some women were beaten. Many demonstrators had their cell phones taken and said they were chased through the streets by Taliban members.

  • FORMER AFGHAN MP, RAMAZAN BASHARDOST, REPORTEDLY ARRESTED – Several reports have come in concerning the possible arrest of former MP Dr. Ramazan Bashardost. Dr. Bashardost, who was also a former Minister of Planning and an Afghan presidential candidate may have been tortured shortly after being picked up by GDI Agents. His current whereabouts are unknown and many in the Hazara community are concerned that he is still being interrogated by the Taliban.

  • TALIBAN CONFIRMS DECISION TO PROHIBIT WOMEN FROM TAKING UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE EXAM – Some rumors had been swirling for months that women might finally be allowed to take the Kankor entrance exams. Many had high hopes they would be allowed to sit for the exam after receiving invitations to apply earlier in the year. However, in a letter signed by the Minister of Higher Education, those hopes were dashed and no women will be allowed to take the exam in 2023.

  • ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE IN AFGHANISTAN HAS BEEN ABOLISHED – The Taliban announced it would dissolve the Attorney’s General office and a new institution called the Directorate of Supervision and Prosecution of Decrees and Orders will take its place. While the Taliban have framed the move as a ‘streamlining’ method, many point to the title as confirmation that the Supreme Leader wants a loyal department to enforce his proclamations and edicts. There are concerns the new directorate will not be able to carry out civil cases and will instead rely on vague Sharia precepts to make rulings.

  • WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION WARNS THAT CRIMEAN-CONGO FEVER CASES CONTINUED TO RISE IN JUNE – Of major concern in the most recent statistics is the spread of the disease from 3 Provinces to 13 currently. Outside medical professionals feel the cases are being underrepresented because the WHO has been unable to conduct testing under the bans on female employment it must contend with.

  • AFGHAN PASSPORT REMAINS THE WEAKEST IN THE WORLD FOR 2023 – Afghanistan has ranked dead last in the Henley Passport Index for the last fourteen years and it is currently unclear how many foreign governments recognize the passport for travel due to the Taliban’s lack of recognition as the legitimate government.

NEXT 24 HOURS
AS MUHARRAM BEGINS, SECURITY A CONCERN – While the Taliban say they have rid the country of ISIS-K, there is clearly a presence that remains active. In addition, the Taliban have traditionally been ill-disposed to the Muharram period of mourning and there are reports that security personnel have removed Muharram banners and flags from shops and have accosted those observing the period. As ISIS-K has not conducted a major operation for some weeks, there is consensus among the observer community that the risk of a major attack has risen significantly.

WHO: Crimean–Congo Hemorrhagic Fever Cases in Afghanistan increased in June
The WHO in a recent report said that Acute Watery Diarrhea and Crimean—Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) cases increased in June.

"The CCHF-associated deaths were reported from 12 provinces (13 from Kabul, 6 from Balkh, 3 from Parwan, 3 from Takhar, 2 from Jawzjan, 2 from Kandahar, and 1 each from Baghlan, Faryab, Ghazni, Kapisa, Paktya, and Sar-e-Pul
...a city and eponymous province in northern Afghanistan, population about 500,000. Demographically it is majority Tadjik and Uzbek. There are small Pashtun, Arab, and Hazara communities, of which the Hazaras mostly don't bother anyone...
)."

According to the report, just in June in various sections, 1.4 million people were reached with humanitarian health services.

"In June 2023, WHO conducted monitoring visits in 34 provinces, 113 primary healthcare facilities, 96 hospitals under HER project, 98 Therapeutic Feeding Units (TFU), 4 Family Health Houses (FFHs), 19 hospitals (including integrated infectious disease and COVID-19 hospitals), 7 ambulatory services."

In total, 136 CCHF samples were tested since the beginning of 2023, of which 53 samples were positive, WHO said.

"Some of our people smuggled some animals from the provinces to Kabul, which were not sprayed with drugs, and our people play a special role in the rise of Crimean—Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) events in the country," said Farid Ullah Omari, a doctor.

The WHO emphasized that COVID-19, Measles, and Dengue Fever decreased in June.

Badakhshan Residents Complain of Lack of Uniforms on Security Forces
[ToloNews] Some residents of Badakhshan province told TOLOnews that they are worried about military personnel without uniforms in their province.

Residents of Badakhshan said that it is challenging to distinguish between official military personnel and others due to the lack of uniforms.

According to residents, the distribution of uniforms is a serious need and officials should pay serious attention to the matter.

"They must have uniforms and proper clothes. In every area we go, there is a gun on someone's shoulder and it stops us. We do not understand who they are and from which region and which field they belong," said Ahmad Shekib, a resident of Badakhshan.

"Soldiers who work illegally are not wearing uniforms and disturb people in the city and market," said Khodabakhsh, a Badakhshan resident.

The residents of Badakhshan want the current government to distribute uniforms to the military forces.

"We say to the government that the police should have uniforms. The army must have army uniforms and security must have security uniforms so that everyone knows in which department they are," said Aslam, a Badakhshan resident.

However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
the Badakhshan security commander said that the responsible security forces in this province wear military uniforms and the people who are with civilian clothes belong to the local commanders.

"Our soldiers have received their uniforms from the Ministry of Interior. All of them are at the checkpoints with the uniform of the Islamic Emirate. There are units of people belonging to many of the commanders who enter the city, they don't have uniforms," said Abdul Wasil Abuzar, Badakhshan province security commander.

The current government's security officials had previously said that they will distribute military uniforms to all the soldiers of the country.

Afghanistan: Ministry of Defense Repairs over 300 Military Vehicles
Idle hands are the Devil’s workshop. So the Taliban are keeping their people’s hands busy.
[KhaamaPress] 327 different types of military vehicles were repaired by the technical and professional engineers’ team in collaboration with the Hazrat Ibn Masood training department, the National Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The Department of the Military’s technical and professional engineers received 327 different types of military vehicles for repair; after being fixed, the vehicles were ready for use, the Ministry said in a tweet.

The repaired military vehicles include 204 Rangers, 21 Humvee tanks, 22 multinational cars, 21 Ford Everest, and 11 forklifts.

Earlier in March, the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
defence ministry repaired around 300 military vehicles in Afghanistan.

The report said that American forces had damaged these vehicles when they withdrew from the country in August 2021.

According to the US House of Representatives, almost 7 billion dollars worth of military weapons and equipment has been left behind in Afghanistan after the foreign troop’s withdrawal.

Two Men Flogged in Public in Afghanistan’s Laghman
[KhaamaPress] Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
’s Supreme Court said on Tuesday that two individuals were flogged publicly in the eastern province of Laghman
...Afghan province with a population of about 445,600, which is multi-ethnic and mostly a rural society. During the invasions of Alexander the Great, the area was known as Lampaka, wich is apparently Olde Macedonian for Laghman. The city of Mihtarlam serves as the bucolic capital of the province. The population is half Pashtun, the remainder Tadjik and Pashai. It had a repution for great wealth until it was conquered in the tenth century by Abu Mansur Sabuktigin.
He conquered it and set fire to the places in its vicinity which were inhabited by infidels, and demolishing the idol-temples, he established Islam in them, He marched and captured other cities and killed the polluted wretches, destroying the idolatrous and gratifying the Musulmans. After wounding and killing beyond all measure, his hands and those of his friends became cold in counting the value of the plundered property.
After that it was mostly notable for the production of dirt, rocks, and holy men...
, Afghanistan.

The two men received 30 lashes each after being accused of "having affairs" and being detained.

In addition, the individuals received a one-year prison sentence, which increased the severity of their penalty.

Earlier, six people allegedly accused of abducting women and raping, publicly flogged in a football stadium in Kandahar province.

Taliban’s Supreme Leader Hibatullah Akhundzada had previously ordered judges to implement "Sharia law and retribution" throughout Afghanistan.

The implementation of lashing was vehemently opposed both in Afghanistan and overseas, and some human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
organizations called it "hateful" and said it went against human values.

The Taliban group has its priorities regarding domestic issues in Afghanistan, despite the intense pressure from the international community to respect human rights, the rights of Afghan women and girls, and religious and ethnic minorities.

According to figures from the UN, the Taliban has publicly flogged close to 300 people since November 2022 on various allegations.

Musical instruments collected in Kabul, provinces torched
[PajwokAfghanNews] The Ministry of Vice and Virtue says it officials burned down musical instruments they had collected in Kabul and other provinces during the past few months.

The ministry wrote on its Twitter page that the instruments used to promote music and ’immorality’ were destroyed today.

"These instruments were collected from immorality programs in Kabul city and some provinces in the past few months."

The ministry said the items misled the youth and caused social deterioration and were destroyed according to Sharia.

The Ministry of Vice and Virtue did not provide more details about the musical instruments, but the pictures show drums, cassettes, harmoniums and other items were set afire.

Afghan Professors Say Taliban-Appointed Clerics Taking University Jobs
[RFERL] Several public university professors have complained that Taliban
...Arabic for students...
members and those around them have started taking some of the top positions at universities and other educational institutions in Afghanistan as the Taliban-led government's Higher Education Ministry increases its control of the school system.

According to the professors, some of whom spoke to RFE/RL's Radio Azadi, Akram Shah Asim has been appointed president at Kandahar University, while Mohammad Yaqub Haqqani has been installed in the same post at Khost University. The social media pages of the state universities now show the two -- both of whom come from the madrasah religious school system -- as presidents of the universities.

Three others who are linked to the Taliban -- Shafiullah Haqqani, Mohammad Sediq Kamal, and Shir Ahmad Abbas -- have been appointed as the head of higher education institutions in Maidan Wardak Province, Nimroz Province, and Paktika
...which coincidentally borders South Wazoo...
Province.

The professors said that most of the vice chancellors of the financial and administrative departments at universities have also been filled with people linked to the Taliban, and that people close to the Taliban have taken the lead in other scientific departments.

Since regaining power following the exit of international troops in August 2021, Talibs have moved to assert control over the country's education sector, converting scores of secular schools, public universities, and vocational training centers into Islamic seminaries.

The group also has banned women from attending university and girls above the sixth grade from going to school.

The Taliban's efforts to eradicate secular education and replace it with radical religious instruction has raised fears among observers that the moves are likely to contribute to the spread of bully boy ideologies in Afghanistan.

"When I was in the university, they brought many changes. In the university, they identified those who were like-minded [and] brought them to professorships, heads of departments, vice presidents, and presidents of universities," Mohammad Qayyum Sial, a former professor at Paktia University who went to La Belle France a year ago to continue his studies, told Radio Azadi from La Belle France.

Qayyum Sial said he expects that after the changes in the leadership of the universities, professors will end up experiencing the same fate.

Jandad Jahani, who taught at an Afghan government university before going to Germany after the Taliban came to power, said the Taliban promised in the beginning to only make changes in political positions and not replace professional and academic positions.

But according to Jahani, the Taliban has not kept to its promise and instead brought "nonprofessionals and uneducated people to strategic and academic positions -- those who have not even finished high school," Jahani said from Germany.

Hamed Obaidi, a front man for the Higher Education Ministry in the former government, also noted that the Taliban has made many changes in the leadership of public universities and appointed its own people. In his opinion, these appointments will have a negative impact on the educational process and on academic institutions.

According to Article 23 of the Law for Civilian Higher Education in Afghanistan, a university president should be appointed from among a group of professors who have the proper academic qualifications, a guideline Obaidi says needs to be followed to ensure quality education.

"The president of the university is an important position. Without an academic figure, it is very difficult to manage an academic department. It will be the biggest punishment if professional people and professors are removed from their duties and are replaced by people who have no idea about how an academic institution works," Obaidi said.

Ziaullah Hashemi, the spokesperson of the Higher Education Ministry, declined to comment on the issue of the appointments when contacted by Radio Azadi.

Africa Horn
Somalia: School heads in trouble for meeting Al-Shabaab
[Garowe] A group of school principals are in trouble following their meeting with al-Shabaab
...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
hard boys, officials have confirmed, with the government of Somalia now determined to seal all loopholes for the expansion of al-Shabaab territories and minimize radicalization of youths.

Reports indicate that the principals, mainly from Baidoa, the regional administrative capital of Southwest state, will be prosecuted over relations to al-Shabaab hard boys, to serve as "an example to those mixing matters of education and violent mostly peaceful extremism" in the federal republic of Somalia.

Senior government officials warned that Somalia will not tolerate school heads who take orders from the al-Shabaab hard boys. Authorities in Southwest State have detained a number of these principals who were sighted visiting the forces of Evil in areas they control within southern Somalia.

The hard boy group retaliated the detention of the principals by blocking trucks transporting commercial goods to Baidoa, a move that increased food and fuel prices. The blockades in Baidoa have been so severe that residents are now struggling to access food and other essentials.

Previously, the al-Shabaab forces of Evil were conditioned to push for the introduction of the Arabic syllabus to the education system, a move that has been opposed by the Ministry of Education. The group is however determined to control schools across the country as a way of indoctrinating gullible masses.

The military courts will be responsible for prosecution of the school heads with the government emphasizing its commitment to liberate all parts of the country. In the coming weeks, the government through the Somali National Army will launch the second phase of operations against al-Shabaab in Jubaland and Southwest.

Somalia is pushing for the elimination of the group that has caused deaths, injuries, and total economic sabotage for the last 16 years in the Horn of Africa nation. A multi-agency security approach has been adopted with the US Africa Command and the African Union

Britain
UK’s migration crackdown plan to become law
[Dawn] Britannia’s controversial plan to deter migrants colonists without papers from landing on British shores was on Tuesday poised to become law, prompting criticism from the United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
The legislation would outlaw asylum claims by all arrivals via the Channel and other "illegal" routes, and transfer them to third countries, such as Rwanda.

It was proposed in response to years of growing numbers of dangerous cross-Channel journeys from northern La Belle France in small boats.

Opposition to the bill was finally crushed at a late night sitting just hours before a barge that will be used to house migrants colonists arrived at a port on England’s south coast.

The Bibby Stockholm barge moored in Dorset’s Portland Port is expected to house 500 asylum-seekers from later this month.

The UN refugee agency condemned the passage of the government’s Illegal Migration Bill as a "breach of international law" and warned it would expose refugees to "grave risks".

"This new legislation significantly erodes the legal framework that has protected so many," said UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi.

It also set a "worrying precedent for dismantling asylum-related obligations that other countries, including in Europe, may be tempted to follow", added UN human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
chief Volker Turk.

PERILOUS ROUTE
Opponents in the unelected upper house had sought to soften the bill by proposing changes. But amendments to parts of the legislation including modern slavery protections and limits on how long child migrants colonists can be detained were voted down in a series of votes.

The bill will now become law following the formality of "royal assent" from King Chuck
......
III.

More than 45,000 migrants colonists arrived on the shores of southeast England on small boats in 2022 — a 60 per cent annual increase on a perilous route that has been used by more people every year since 2018.

Immigration — both legal and illegal — has long been a key political issue in the UK and was one of the main battlegrounds of the Brexit referendum in 2016, which saw the country leave the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who has vowed to "stop the boats", has insisted the Rwanda plan would have an important deterrent effect by showing that no-one who arrives illegally in the UK will be allowed to stay.

The UN, however, says the 1951 Refugee Convention "explicitly recognises that refugees may be compelled to enter a country of asylum irregularly".

The Conservative government’s Interior Minister in the upper house Simon Murray said the sheer number of arrivals had "overwhelmed" the UK’s asylum system and was costing taxpayers six million pounds ($7.8m) a day in accommodation costs.

LEGAL CHALLENGES
"If people know there is no way for them to stay in the UK, they won’t risk their lives and pay criminals thousands of pounds to arrive here illegally," he said.

"It is therefore only right that we stop the boats and break the business model of the criminal gangs exploiting vulnerable people," he added.

The Rwanda plan, announced by then-prime minister Boris Johnson
...pro-Brexit British prime minister, succeeding no-Brexit Theresa May. BoJo is noted as much for his sparkling personality and his hair as for his Conservative policies....
last year, was blocked at the last minute by the European Court of Human Rights, which is separate to the EU, and is still mired in legal challenges.

The UK government last month said it would appeal a judgement by three Court of Appeal judges who ruled that Rwanda could not be considered a safe third country.

Sunak said he respected the court but "fundamentally" disagreed with the judges’ conclusions.

To date, no deportation flights to Rwanda have taken place.

Rights groups accuse Rwanda — ruled with an iron fist by President Paul Kagame since the end of the 1994 genocide that killed around 800,000 people — of cracking down on free speech and opposition.

Europe
French prosecutors probe fund for policeman who sparked riots
[AlAhram] French prosecutors said Wednesday they had opened an investigation into an online collection for a French policeman who sparked nationwide riots in late June by shooting a teenager dead in a Gay Paree suburb.

The initiative on GoFundMe.com, launched by far-right media commentator Jean Messiha, received pledges of more than 1.6 million euros ($1.7 million) before it was closed in early July.

The mother of the 17-year-old rubbed out in Nanterre on June 27
...that’s 17 year old French-Algerian known wolf Nahel Merzouk, who refused to stay pulled over while joy riding in Lorient, Brittany without a license with a couple of no doubt equally disreputable buddies in an entirely questionable Polish Mercedes, getting himself killed in the process...
filed a legal complaint via her lawyer, alleging fraud, misuse of personal data and conspiracy in these crimes by Messiha.

A legal probe by specialised financial crime Sherlocks was underway, the Gay Paree prosecutor told AFP on Wednesday.

"We welcome the speed of the decision by the prosecutor," Yassine Bouzrou, who is acting for the dead boy's mother, told AFP.

Messiha was contacted for comment.

The 38-year-old cycle of violence traffic officer behind the killing of French-Algerian teenager Nahel Merzouk has been detained and charged with voluntary manslaughter.

The shooting, at point-blank range, sparked the most intense urban violence in La Belle France since 2005 and rekindled complaints about heavy-handed policing and racism in deprived areas of the country.

Messiha said the fund, which was intended for the officer's family, was "a cry from French people to demand order, a cry of love for their security forces."

Swedish Police Permit Again Iraqi Refugee's Quran Burning Protest Near Iraqi Embassy in Stockholm
[Shafaq News] The Swedish police have once again granted permission for the Iraqi refugee, Salwan Momika, to stage a demonstration in front of the Iraqi embassy in Stockholm, where he plans to burn a copy of the Koran and the Iraqi flag.

The decision has sparked controversy and raised concerns over freedom of expression versus religious sensitivity.

According to AFP, two individuals have announced their intention to gather in front of the Iraqi embassy on Thursday between 13:00 and 15:00 local time. The organizer, Salwan Momika, previously orchestrated the burning of the Koran in front of a mosque in Stockholm last month.

While the Swedish police have granted permission for the gathering, a police front man clarified that the permission does not imply agreement or endorsement of the intended actions.

The initial incident involving the burning of the Koran occurred in January when right-wing Swedish-Danish Death Eater Rasmus Paludan burned a copy of the Moslem holy book to protest Sweden's NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and structure....
membership aspirations and its negotiations with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
Momika replicated this action on June 28, burning pages from a copy of the Koran in front of Stockholm's most prominent mosque on Eid al-Adha
...a major Moslem holiday, marked by animal sacrifice and ritual rioting...
, triggering condemnation across the Islamic world.

The Swedish government has previously condemned these acts as "offensive and anti-Islam." Still, it has stated that it has no intention of changing Swedish law, which upholds a more liberal stance on freedom of expression than other countries. However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
the police can deny permission for demonstrations if they threaten national security or incite racial hatred through words or actions.

Earlier today, Momika, an Iraqi refugee, announced that Swedish authorities had withdrawn the protection previously provided to him while threatening to review his asylum file. This development comes after Momica tore up and burned a copy of the Holy Koran, which sparked widespread controversy.

In a video shared on his TikTok account, Momika claimed that the Swedish authorities had left him vulnerable by revoking his protection and had demanded that he cease his demonstrations and criticisms of Moslems. He further disclosed that the police had attempted to coerce him into signing an unlawful document in exchange for protection. Consequently, he finds himself unprotected after withdrawing from his previously secure accommodation.

MomiKa expressed concerns about threats received from Islamic countries and individuals who had issued death threats against him. He stressed that he holds the Swedish authorities responsible for his safety and well-being.

The controversial man, who hails from the Christian minority in Iraq's Nineveh Governorate, sought refuge in Sweden after facing accusations of war crimes related to his association with Christian factions linked to the Popular Mobilization Forces. His recent actions, including the desecration of the Holy Koran, provoked widespread condemnation in Iraq, with calls for the Iraqi government to engage with Sweden for his extradition and trial under Iraqi law.

India-Pakistan
Seema Haider Once Been To Jail, Now Out On Bail: UP Cop On Pakistani Woman
[OneIndia] Is Seema Haider, who escaped from Pakistan and illegally entered India to be with her Indian boyfriend Sachin Meena, a Pakistani agent? This question is lingering in people's minds since the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of the Uttar Pradesh Police started questioning her.

Even as the authorities continue to grill her to get more information, Prashant Kumar, Uttar Pradesh Special Director General Law and Order, has revealed that she was once been to jail.

"All agencies are doing their work. This matter is linked to two nations, it is not right to say anything unless there is sufficient proof," he said.

"She had once been to jail and is now on bail. Further action is being taken," he added. On Tuesday, she reportedly failed to provide clear answers regarding her motive for illegally entering India. Intelligence Bureau officials were also present during the interrogation.

In connection with the matter, the IB has requested a report from the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), the central force responsible for guarding the Indo-Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, according to a report in Hindustan Times.

The cross-border couple were first interrogated by the UP ATS on Monday at its office in Noida and the duo was released late in the night.

Seema Haider, a married Muslim woman from Pakistan and mother of four, came across 22-year-old Sachin Meen on PUBG during the pandemic in 2020. After falling in love, she left her country and married him in Nepal. She then went back to her country, sold her property for flight tickets and a Nepal visa from where she illegally entered India with her four children to stay with the man whom she married in May.

On the other hand, her husband Ghulam Haider is repeatedly pleading her to comeback to Pakistan.

"I still love you the same and will continue to do so. I miss the kids and you so much. No one will say anything to you. I will keep you with me and we will start a new life again," he told YouTuber Mohsin. He further stated that if she feels unsafe in Pakistan, he would take her back to Saudi where he has been working.

Is Seema Haider A Pakistani Spy Agent? Probe Deepens into Her Deceptive Indian Attire, Army Connections

[OneIndia] Seema Haider, a Pakistani woman, who illegally entered India with her four children to be with her lover dressed up to look like a rural Indian woman and sought the help of professionals, according to intelligence sources cited by India Today. To avoid detection by security agencies, she disguised herself as a rural Indian woman and sought professional help with makeup. This method of dressing is often employed by women involved in human trafficking, particularly those associated with domestic help or prostitution rings when crossing the Indo-Nepal border.

Investigation agencies have also noticed that Seema Haider exhibits fluent language skills, which could have been provided by Pakistani handlers operating in Nepal. Such language training is commonly given to women sent across the Nepal border for illegal activities in India.

Seema Haider is currently under scrutiny by the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) due to possible connections with the Pakistan Army and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Pakistan's intelligence agency. The ATS, along with officials from central intelligence agencies, has been interrogating Seema Haider and her Indian husband, Sachin Meena, for two consecutive days.

Despite the intensive questioning, no concrete evidence linking Seema Haider to the ISI has been found. Her confident manner of answering questions has raised suspicions that she may be attempting to mislead the authorities. There are also concerns that she may be receiving guidance from someone within India, and the Intelligence Bureau has provided significant information regarding the case.

Seema Haider and her four children entered India in May to reunite with her partner, Sachin Meena, who resides in the Rabupura area of Greater Noida. The individuals who aided her in reaching the village remain unidentified, and the ATS discovered that she had sent friend requests to several military officers.

During the interrogation, it was revealed that Seema Haider had purchased a mobile phone in Pakistan before arriving in India. The ATS inquired about any precautions she was instructed to take while communicating via messages and phone chats.

The ATS also questioned Seema Haider about her use of codewords. In Pakistani intelligence's coded language, "Fufi" refers to a person providing information to the ISI, while "Fruit" is a codeword for money. Seema denied any knowledge of Urdu or the usage of these codewords but displayed fluency in Hindi and complex Hindi words, raising doubts about her claims.

The timing of Seema Haider's mobile phone bill for 8 May, the day she received her passport, and her departure from Pakistan just two days later on 10 May has raised suspicions. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working diligently to uncover the truth behind Seema Haider's statements and actions.

The UP Police and central agencies are actively seeking details about Haider's travel route from Karachi to Greater Noida. There are reports suggesting that some of her relatives have connections with the Pakistani Army, prompting the agencies to investigate potential security implications.

Seema Haider initially got in touch with Sachin Meena through the online gaming application PUBG. However, on 4 July, she was arrested for illegal entry into India, and Meena was apprehended for sheltering illegal immigrants. Both were granted bail on 7 July and have been living together in Greater Noida since then.

'Cipher gate' was a preplanned conspiracy, says Azam Khan
[The Nation (Pak)] Former prime minister Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who is the lightweight's lightweight...
's then-principal secretary Azam Khan has "recorded" a statement, terming the US cipher a "conspiracy" used by the ex-PM to "manipulate for creating a narrative against establishment and opposition."

Azam, who has been "missing" since last month, has recorded his statement under CrPC 164 before a magistrate, the sources added, with no information on his whereabouts.

Khan, ousted via a parliamentary vote in April last year, had alleged on March 27, 2022, that Washington orchestrated a plan to remove him from office — and brandished the cipher at a public rally to back his claims.

In his confession, Azam claimed that when he shared the cipher with Imran, the former premier was "euphoric" and termed the language as a "US blunder".

The ex-prime minister then said, according to Azam, that the cable could be used for "creating a narrative against establishment and opposition".

U.S. Imposes Sanctions on 14 Iraqi Banks; Shafaq News Agency Reveals Banks Names
[Shafaq News] The United States has imposed sanctions on 14 Iraqi banks as part of a broader crackdown on the flow of U.S. currency to Iran.

According to officials cited by the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday, the ban, enforced by the Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, aims to prevent these Iraqi banks from engaging in dollar transactions, highlighting the U.S. government's efforts to curb Iran's access to international funds.

Exclusive sources revealed to Shafaq News Agency that among the 14 banks subjected to the sanctions are Al Mustashar Islamic Bank for Investment and Finance, Al Qurtas Islamic Bank for Investment and Finance, Al Taif Islamic Bank, Elaf Bank, Erbil Bank for Investment and Finances, International Islamic Bank, Iraq Trans Bank, djinn-infested Mosul

Recently, the Central Bank of Iraq excluded four private Iraqi banks, namely al-Ansari, al-Sharq al-Awsat, al-Qabid, and Asia, from the currency sale auction following directives and warnings from the U.S. Treasury, which accused these banks of currency smuggling.

U.S. officials, speaking to the Wall Street Journal, disclosed that the decision to impose sanctions came after uncovering information indicating the involvement of the targeted banks in money laundering and fraudulent transactions.

Iraq, a long-standing neighbor of Iran, has been significantly affected by the U.S. sanctions. The Iraqi dinar has experienced unprecedented fluctuations against the U.S. dollar this year, with experts attributing this volatility to new measures implemented by the U.S. Federal Reserve targeting Iraq. To ensure strict enforcement of sanctions against Iran, the U.S. has taken measures to restrict the flow of the dollar to various countries, including Iran, Syria, Russia, and Leb

The recent U.S. measures have resulted in price increases for some imported commodities within Iraq, while real estate sales in upscale areas of Baghdad have notably slowed down. Moreover, Iraqi power stations heavily rely on Iranian gas, but due to U.S. sanctions, Baghdad faces challenges in making direct payments for its gas imports from Tehran.
