-Lurid Crime Tales-
Report: Clinton Emails Reveal Benghazi Militant Fears
[AnNahar] One day after a deadly 2012 attack on a U.S. mission in Libya, then secretary of state Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as the Smartest Woman in the World and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another George C. Marshall ...
was told confidentially al-Qaeda-linked forces of Evil were likely behind the assault, a U.S. daily said Thursday, publishing some of her emails.

Yet it took several days for the White House to admit it was probing whether al-Qaeda had any links to the storming of the mission in Benghazi in which U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans were killed.

The State Department is poised to release a batch of emails that Clinton -- now bidding to be the next president -- sent from her private email address during her four-year tenure as secretary of state.

But some of her correspondence obtained by the New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
Thursday gave an insight into Clinton's early concerns in 2011 about the disintegration of Libya, as well as casting light on the shadowy world of intelligence gathering.

Most of the emails were sent to Clinton from her long-time advisor and friend Sidney Blumenthal, quoting "sensitive" sources with direct access to top Libyan officials. They contain few comments from Clinton.

On September 12, 2012, in the chaotic aftermath of the September 11 attack, Blumenthal sent Clinton a memo by email marked "confidential" in which he said then Libyan president Mohammed Megaryef had been told the attacks were "inspired by what many devout Libyans viewed as a sacrilegious internet video."

But only hours later, Blumenthal sent another long email marked "just in" from his mobile phone.

"Libyan security officials believe that the attack was carried out by forces of the Islamist militia group calling itself the Ansar al-Sharia
...a Salafist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends. There are groups of the same name in Libyaand Yemen, with the Libyan versions currently most active. Tunisia's Shabaab al-Tawhid started out an Ansar al-Sharia and changed its name in early 2014. It still uses the old name now and then, probably because the stationery's not all used up and the web site hasn't expired yet...
brigade; working out of camps in the eastern suburbs of Benghazi," it stated.

Clinton forwarded the email from her account (hrod17@clintonemail.com) to her trusted foreign policy advisor Jake Sullivan, saying: "We should get this around asap."

Yet, top White House security advisor Susan Rice went on the Sunday television talk shows that week to insist that the attack arose from a "spontaneous" demonstration.

- Cover-up accusations -
The Clinton emails have been demanded by a special congressional committee set up by Republicans who accuse the administration of covering up what really happened at Benghazi.

Revelations that Clinton used a private server and a private email address when she was secretary of state have also raised Republican hackles as the clock ticks down to the 2016 presidential elections.

She has turned over some 30,000 emails amounting to 55,000 pages to the State Department, which is reviewing them to black out classified information before releasing them.

The few emails obtained by the Times all dealt with Libya and included a warning from another advisor against arming Libyan rebels before the death of former dictator Moamer Qadaffy.

"Boys like to play with guns (trust me as a mother of sons). I am all for saying we have no objection to French doing it to increase pressure on Qadaffy (sic), but in a tribal society where conflicts have been repressed for so long, adding even more weapons does not make sense," wrote Anne-Marie Slaughter in April 2011.

‘Jubba River offensive’ to liberate Al Shabaab-held areas in Jubaland
KISMAYO, Somalia -- Somalia’s Jubaland administration has announced a fresh military offensive dubbed Webbiga-Jubba [or Jubba River] in a bid to liberate areas remaining under the control of Al Shabaab militants, Garowe Online reports.

Jubaland Vice President Gen. Abdullahi Sheikh Ismael (Fartaag) told the media that Jubaland forces along with African Union peacekeepers will start thrusting into Al Shabaab-controlled territories in the region.

“Jubaland forces will no longer be in Bulogadud, they will go ahead with the decisive operation of ‘Jubba River’ to capture areas under Al Shabaab control,” said Gen. Fartaag. Fartaag didn’t set a date for the anti-militant push.

Nigerian army 'relocates' 275 Boko Haram survivors
[BBC] The Nigerian army has relocated 275 women and kiddies recently rescued from the holy warrior Islamist group Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
, officials say.

They said they were taken from a camp in the north-eastern city of Yola and flown to an unknown destination.

Camp officials said there were suspicions some of the women had been communicating with holy warriors.

Nigeria's military, which has not yet commented, has put increasing pressure on Boko Haram in recent months.

Backed by soldiers from Chad, Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
and Niger, the Nigerian army has managed to liberate a number of towns from the Lions of Islam since they launched a military operation in February.

However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
sporadic attacks and violence have continued, with thousands killed in the last year alone.

Arabia
U.S. to Sell Bombs to Israel, Helicopters to Saudis
"Tell that president that he'd better arm up the Israelis, too. We are very, very displeased with the result of our investment in his education."
"Yes, your Highness. So it shall be done."
[AnNahar] The United States said Wednesday it plans to sell thousands of bombs and missiles to Israel as well as 10 Seahawk helicopters to Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, in deals worth about $1.9 billion each, officials said Wednesday.

The U.S. State Department informed Congress of the proposed arms sales to two allies in the Middle East that are both wary of Washington's negotiations with Iran over Tehran's nuclear program.

The planned weapons deal with Israel would provide 3,000 Hellfire missiles, 250 medium-range air-to-air missiles, 4,100 glide bombs and 50 BLU-113 "super penetrator" bombs designed to reach underground sites.

Israel, which has sharply criticized U.S. diplomacy with Iran, has reserved the right to take unilateral military action against Iran to prevent it from obtaining nuclear weapons and the bunker buster munitions could be used to strike at buried nuclear sites.

The notification to politicians of the planned arms sales came after a report in the Israeli daily Haaretz suggested Washington might expand its military aid to Israel as compensation for a possible agreement between Iran and major powers to curtail Tehran's nuclear work.

Such an arrangement could involve more radar-evading F-35 fighter jets and more missile defense systems, the paper reported.

U.S. officials said the planned sale would "replenish" existing stocks in Israel's arsenal and would not provide the country with new types of weapons.

"The proposed sale of this equipment will provide Israel the ability to support its self-defense needs," according to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency.

The planned deal with Saudi Arabia involves 10 Seahawk MH-60R helicopters along with associated radar, navigation systems and 38 Hellfire missiles, the agency said in a statement.

The equivalent value of the two arms sales reflected Washington's commitment to ensure Israel's "qualitative military edge" in the region.

The United States has agreed $90 billion in arms deals with Saudi Arabia between 2010 and 2014.

The main defense firms for the Saudi sale are Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation and aerospace giant Lockheed Martin.

For the arms deal with Israel, the main contractors are Boeing, Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, Ellwood National Forge Company and Raytheon Missile Systems.

Congress must be informed 30 days before the administration can take final steps on a military sale to a foreign government. The sale can go ahead unless politicians vote to block or amend the deal.

China-Japan-Koreas
NKorean defectors ask women activists to be stopped at border
North Korean defectors requested an international group of women activists that includes Gloria Steinem be stopped from crossing the DMZ after North Korea claimed two of the activists outwardly praised Kim Il Sung.

An article in Thursday's Rodong Sinmun, North Korea's state newspaper, said the Women Cross DMZ delegates toured Mangyongdae, the designated birthplace of North Korea founder Kim Il Sung on Wednesday.

According to North Korea, during the tour Nobel Peace Prize laureate Mairead Maguire said she was "highly touched" after learning about Kim Il Sung's revolutionary life.

Women Cross DMZ international coordinator Christine Ahn also was quoted as extolling the late North Korean leader for his "numerous achievements" including "crushing the forces of Japanese imperialism and liberating the country."

South Korean newspaper JoongAng Daily said the veracity of the quotes could not be confirmed.

Critics in South Korea said the 30 activists are being used as propaganda pawns by Pyongyang -- a common North Korea practice when foreigners visit the country, according to Yang Moo-jin, a professor at the University of North Korean Studies in South Korea.

The activists have requested Seoul's permission to cross into the truce village of Panmunjom, but Seoul has opposed the idea, suggesting they cross from a westerly route near the North Korean city of Kaesong.

North Korean defectors said they are protesting the activists in response to the news of their alleged remarks at Mangyongdae. South Korean television network YTN reported the anti-Pyongyang campaigners said North and South Koreans are being cheated of justice, and urged the women delegates to meet with Kim Jong Un and petition for the protection of human rights in North Korea.

The 30 women are scheduled to walk across the DMZ on Sunday.

Wimmins cancel plan to cross DMZ via Panmunjom
SEOUL -- A group of foreign activists who planned to cross the inter-Korean border southward from North Korea has decided to use a western land route instead of the truce village of Panmunjom, officials said Friday.

About 30 female activists from around the world, including U.S. activist Gloria Steinem and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Mairead Maguire, arrived in Pyongyang on Tuesday, planning to march from the North to the South across the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) to deliver a message of peace on Sunday. A legacy of the 1950-53 Korean War, the DMZ bisects the Korean Peninsula.

Members of the group said that they have decided to cancel their original plan to walk through the truce village of Panmunjom. Instead, they have accepted the South Korean government's recommendation to use the western corridor along the Gyeongui railway, officials from the group said.

The DMZ is a 259-kilometer-by-4-kilometer strip of rugged no-man's land stretching from coast to coast, serving as a legacy of the Korean War that ended in a truce, not a peace treaty. The truce village sits in the middle of the DMZ, which is guarded by stone-faced soldiers on each side of the military demarcation line. Passing through the truce village is a violation of the truce treaty, according to the United Nations Command.

"It is regrettable that we could not walk across Panmunjom. But we hope that the truce village could serve as a path toward peace and reconciliation some day," said an official from the group.
Sure, when the Fat Boy has been shot and thrown into the sea, along with all his minions, and the concentration camp guards have been clubbed to death by the inmates...
The activists said that the purpose of the DMZ crossing is to express hope that Korean families separated by the Korean War will be united someday and military tensions between the two sides can be reduced.

Seoul has said that the planned event should take place in a way that does not spark unintended tension on the Korean Peninsula, raising concerns that it could be politicized by the North.
Good luck with that...
The activists allegedly made pro-Pyongyang remarks during their visit to the birthplace of the North's late founder Kim Il-sung, North Korea's media said Thursday.
Smart move, otherwise they'd be visiting the insides of the North Korean concentration camp...
The Ministry of Unification said its approval for the DMZ crossing was made on the grounds that it would be a civilian activity with a non-political purpose.

"If the North's report is true, we believe that the event has deviated from one that was promoted as non-political," Ministry Spokesman Lim Byeong-cheol said at a press briefing. "The Seoul government expects them to run the event in accordance with South Korea's law."

EU foreign affairs chief warns ISIS against killings, destruction of heritage
[RUDAW.NET] European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini warned the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) Thursday that mass killings and destruction of archaeological sites amount to war crimes, after the bandidos bully boyz took control of the ancient Syrian city of Palmyra.
When Bruxelles growls people listen...
Her warning came after news reports said that ISIS had occupied Palmyra on Wednesday after pro-government forces pulled out of the city.

"Yet again hundreds of people have been killed and thousands more risk to be exposed to arbitrary violent actions and more destructions of cultural sites might be perpetrated," Mogherini said in a statement.

"Palmyra is a symbol of Syria's rich cultural heritage and has been a crossroad of civilization throughout history," she said.

Palmyra, northeast of the Syrian capital Damascus, sits on Hellenistic and Roman ruins that date back more than 2,000 years. There are fears that the hard boyz could destroy the ancient city, as they have done in Iraq, destroying museums, statues and ancient artifacts in Nineveh province.

"Da'esh's mass killings and deliberate destruction of archaeological and cultural heritage in Syria and Iraq amount to a war crime according to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal court," the former Italian foreign minister added, referring to ISIS by its Arabic acronym.

Mogherini issued a reminder that all 28 EU states had agreed last October to take all appropriate steps to prevent "the illegal trade of cultural property."

"Such illicit traffic of cultural artifacts directly contributes to the financing of ISIL/Dae'sh and other terrorist organizations," she said.

Clinton Foundation reveals up to $26 million in additional payments
"The money was paid as fees for speeches by Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton. Foundation officials said the funds were tallied internally as "revenue" rather than donations, which is why they had not been included in the public listings of its contributors published as part of the 2008 agreement."
The mis-allocation of the funds received is kind of interesting. I'm sure that "donations" received by the Foundation must go specifically and entirely for "good works." "Revenues," otoh, are probably a "commission-triggering" event with "part" of the proceeds going to the "revenue" generator (think "Juice.").

It would be interesting to see how the interfamily percentages break out. RICO anyone? Nah, didn't think so.

No wing of foreign agencies, IS present in KP: Durrani
[DAWN] PESHAWAR: The religious seminaries involved in terrorism have been closed down in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa

...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.

He said that there was no wing of foreign intelligence agencies and self-styled Islamic State

(IS) in the province. The desperate bandidos Lions of Islam were in the habit of using different brands for their activities, he added.

Mr Durrani said that bandidos Lions of Islam still existed in the province but police were also determined to fight them till end.

He said that police had time and again raised the issue of Afghan SIMs as it was duty of the Pakistain Telecommunication Authority to block those. He said that in 90 per cent cases pertaining to kidnapping, extortion and assassination the bandidos Lions of Islam were using Afghan SIMs.

Sectarianism is a curse, says SC judge
[DAWN] If y'got a sectarian state how can you be surprised when you have sectarianism? I believe the largest mosque in Europe is in London. If it was in Pakistain it couldn't be called a mosque because it was built by Ahmadis. To be sure, if it was in Pakistain the original owners would have been kicked out by now and it would have been taken over by Deobandis or Salafists. Only proper Sunnis can be Pakistainians. Shias are Shias. Christians are Christians. Hindus, Sikhs, Parsees, what have you, all are referred to by religion, not by nationality. The poor Ahmadis are simply outlawed, courtesy of Jamaat-e-Islami.

Christian couple lynching: ATC indicts 106 suspects
[DAWN] An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday indicted 106 suspects in the Kot Radha Kishan Christian couple lynching that took place last year.
Not nearly enough evidence against any of them...
The court has also issued summons for tomorrow for witnesses in the case in order to record their statements against the suspects involved in Shama and Shahzad's lynching.

The indictment of the 106 came after the police submitted a challan
... list of charges ...
(charge-sheet) against the suspects at the ATC in Lahore today.

The challan states that Maulvi Mohammad Hussain, Maulvi Arshad Baloch and Maulvi Noorul Hassan were involved in persistent provocative speech against the couple which led to the assembly of 400 people as a mob who then burnt Shama and Shahzad alive.
Certainly not enough evidence against the three holy men. All they have to do is deny it was them.
After the challan was presented at the hearing, the court also held Yousaf Gujjar, the owner of the brick kiln where the couple was beaten to death, responsible.

The enraged mob beat the Christian couple to death in November last year for allegedly desecrating a copy of the Holy Koran and burnt their bodies in the brick kiln where they worked.

The incident took place in the town of Kot Radha Kishan, some 60 kilometres southwest of Lahore.

Blasphemy is a hugely sensitive issue in Pakistain, with even unproven allegations often prompting mob violence. Anyone convicted, or even just accused, of insulting Islam, risks a violent and bloody death at the hands of vigilantes.

Iraq
US gives anti-tanks guns to stop ISIS car bombs
[RUDAW.NET] The United States will deliver 1,000 anti-tanks weapons to Baghdad next month so Iraqi forces can use the guns against deadly ISIS vehicle-borne suicide kabooms, a US official said on Thursday.

"ISIS faceless myrmidons launched nearly 30 suicide boom-mobileings on the Iraqi forces when they took control of Ramadi," the official told Rudaw on condition of anonymity.

The source said the weapons deal was agreed upon during Iraqi Prime Minister's Haidar al-Abadi vist to Washington earlier this year. He said the anti-tank guns will arrive in June.

ISIS took control of Ramadi, capital of Anbar province, on May 17. The quick retreat of the Iraqi Army has led many experts to question both Baghdad and Washington's policies for containing the myrmidons.

That thing is armored up, looks like it gets hit by something at 0:28. Site said it took a milan.

I had a long post, but browser ate my lunch and I have to go. Long to short, if I don't see that until it is a block away, it may already be too late; eyes and ears take a beating for sure.

Spike strips around the city would hamper day to day civilian activities. Also, the ISJV is getting very experienced at making these things, could be they have puncture resistant tires figured out. I saw an ad on TV the other night for tires which don't go flat for x miles.

Scout out strong points in the city, send infantry to make sure the area is approachable, and roll one of those things in like a sapper to a castle wall, follow through the gap with blitzkrieg.

#13  Take a Milan. According to google, that means more than 1000mm of rolled homo armor, or reactive armor.
Let's say google is off by a factor of ten and it's 100mm of armor. That's four inches. Talking about four-inch plates on a truck...?

#14  Not sure if the video VBIED is indicative of what was used in Ramadi, but I have seen other video of armored VBIEDs.

I think I saw a number of munitions strike the vehicle, but if you believe the caption it was a Milan which made the kill shot. Sorry for the poorly written sentence, herding kids at the time. The way that truck was attempting to move off road, it looks very heavy to me.
Posted by: swksvolFF || 05/22/2015 21:26 Comments || Top||

#15  Okay. The Milan made the kill. I'd understood it to mean the VBIED had survived a Milan hit.
Thing about the old 90mm and 106mm RRs is that you can use them against other types of targets. Ditto MaDeuce.
The 106 was supposed to have an effective range of 1500 meters. That was about where the spotting round burned out. It would be hard to figure jerry-rigging a truck with armor to withstand even the 90mm, much less the 106.
AT4 is pretty cool, and all, but a RR has other uses.

Anbar council urges locals to enlist in Iraqi Army
[RUDAW.NET] The Anbar provincial council has made a call for voluntary conscription so local people can fight against ISIS in the impending battle for the province, Sabah Karhut, head of the council, said Thursday.

"The Anbar provincial council is calling on the people of the Anbar province to join the Iraqi Army in order to liberate the province from ISIS bad boys," said Karhut.

He added that a large force of Hashd al-Shaabi, Shiite militias known as Popular Mobilization Units, and the Iraqi Army have already arrived in areas of Anbar province and are preparing for the battle to retake Ramadi.

Despite the rallying cry, the council has come under criticism this week over the collapse of the city's defenses.

Mohammed Khalaf, an Anbar tribal chiefs, announced Wednesday: "The majority of the Anbar sheikhs [tribal chiefs] and political figures abandoned the province and let it fall to the Islamic State

bad boys, and they are the real mercenaries."

Khalaf called on the Iraqi government to dismantle the Anbar provincial council.

"What happened in Anbar was the conspiracy of the governor and the provincial council of the province," said Khalaf.

The Islamic State, or ISIS, seized control of the city of Ramadi on May 17, sending Iraqi forces racing out of the city in a major loss despite the support of US-led Arclight airstrikes targeting the murderous Moslems.

's expanding influence, Israeli customs officials at Ben Gurion Airport have intercepted a suspicious package from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
that turned out to be packed with 120 shiny new ISIS rings, adorned with ISIS logos and slogans in Arabic, bound for Paleostinian Authority customers.

"The rings made of silver were produced in Turkey and ordered by an importer in Ramallah," reports Ynet News. "Customs officials announced that they will be destroyed sometime in the next few days."

The package, like all items shipped to the West Bank, was subjected to stringent security procedures, including X-rays and visual inspection. Fortunately, a customs inspector fluent in Arabic read the writing on the rings and notified his supervisors, who alerted security forces and the Shin Bet intelligence service, as well as writing a letter to the Paleostinian merchant who ordered the rings, giving him 30 days to appeal their confiscation and destruction.

"A large number of rings tells us that there are buyers for this," said an Israeli tax official quoted by The Times of Israel, which cheekily referred to the contraband rings as "Islamist bling."

"It is frightening and terrifying to know that in the territories of the Paleostinian Authority, there are supporters of this murderous organization and, who knows, maybe with our help they will discover a cell or ideological organizing by ISIS," the official continued.

I'm not sure "shocking" is quite the correct word for it at this point. Disgusting and horrifying, to be sure, but ISIS is expanding its influence across the globe, from the Middle East to American universities. If one were to prepare a list of fertile environments for the spread of ISIS ideology, the Paleostinian Authority would not be at the bottom.

Southeast Asia
Malaysia orders rescue of migrant boats, Thailand says no to shelters
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said on Thursday he had ordered the navy to conduct search and rescue missions for thousands of migrants adrift at sea as Thailand's prime minister said his country would not provide shelter.

Southeast Asia is battling a migrant crisis that has seen hundreds of "boat people", mostly Rohingya Moslems from Myanmar and Bangladeshi migrants who fled persecution and poverty at home or were kidnapped by traffickers, pushed back out to sea by Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Many now face sickness, and possible starvation.

"I have further ordered @tldm_rasmi (navy) and APMM (Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency) to conduct search and rescue efforts on Rohingya boats," Najib said on his Twitter account.

"We have to prevent loss of life," he said, adding that humanitarian aid would be delivered by land and sea.

Malaysia and Indonesia on Wednesday said they would let as many as 7,000 migrants on the seas now to come ashore temporarily, but no more.

For decades, ethnic minority Rohingya have suffered from state-sanctioned discrimination in majority-Buddhist Myanmar and are denied citizenship. The Malaysian and Indonesian foreign ministers were in Myanmar on Thursday for talks on the crisis.

Armanatha Nasir, a front man for Indonesia's foreign ministry, said Indonesia would not put pressure on Myanmar.

"We will continue to encourage Myanmar in their process of reform and democratization. Because in the end we believe it will create an environment conducive for the Rohingya."

The United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
has been calling on governments in the region to rescue the migrants. More than 3,000 have been rescued by locals or come ashore in Indonesia and Malaysia this month.

Indonesia and Malaysia have said that temporary shelters would be set up to house the migrants but Thailand, a traditional transit point for migrants trying to reach Malaysia illegally to find work, said it would not follow suit.

"There will definitely be no migrant shelters," Thai Prime Minister and coup leader Prayuth Chan-ocha told parliament in Bangkok on Wednesday, adding that existing detention centers would be used to hold those found to have entered Thailand illegally.

Thailand has said it would stop towing boats back to sea, something Malaysia and Indonesia had been doing in recent days, and will allow the sick to come to shore for attention, but has stopped short of saying whether it would allow other migrants to disembark.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Reports: Nusra Front Readies to Rip into Arsal as U.S. Drones Offer Assistance to Leb Army
[AnNahar] The al-Qaeda affiliate al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli sh-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
Front is allegedly mobilizing to storm the northeastern border town of Arsal within days as information revealed that U.S. drones are flying over the area to collect data on bully boyz and assist the Lebanese army.

Sources close to the jihadist group said in comments published in al-Akhbar newspaper Thursday that the fighting raging in Syria's Qalamoun between the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group and Nusra Front will compel the latter to withdraw into Arsal "soon."

Despite ideological similarities, the two groups are opposed and in conflict with each other.

"The Front considers entering Arsal as a necessary evil... the state and Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
and forcing us to enter Leb," the sources warned.

Al-Nusra Front is cordoned off from all sides as forces of the Syrian regime and Hizbullah are clamping down on it from three axes: South near the outskirts of Nahle, North near Jousieh and Nehmat hill and from the East near the outskirts of Fleita and al-Jarajeer.

Thus, according to the daily, the outskirts near Leb's Ras Baalbek remain the only road open before al-Nusra Front, but it remains under the control of the IS.

The Nusra Front is left with one option, to head to Arsal, which is under the Lebanese army's control.

A Nusra field commander was quoted as saying: "We would only last for a month maximum on the outskirts."

The sources pointed out that the group is suffering from a shortage in ammunition, stating that "it will not last long, which would force the fighters to enter Leb."

Hizbullah backed by Syrian forces controlled strategic areas in Qalamoun that abuts Leb's eastern border as fighting rages in the region. Hizbullah cites that fear of bully boyz sweeping through Shiite and Christian villages in diverse Leb as one of the main reasons for their involvement in Syria.

Some observers however fear the Qalamoun offensive could prompt Islamist bully boyz to launch attacks in Shiite areas of Leb itself, including Beirut's southern suburbs.

Meanwhile,
...back at the dirigible, the gondola was dangling by a single thread of rope.

Jack! Cynthia cried. I just realized I'm afraid of heights! I don't even like high heels!...

As Safir newspaper reported that U.S. drones are flying over Arsal and monitoring the movement of gunnies as the data is being handed over to the Lebanese army. The data indicates that few hundreds of fighters are entrenched on the outskirts in an area between 60 to 90 kilometer square.

The army has boosted its measures in Arsal recently to prevent fighters from entering Leb in an attempt to flee the Qalamoun battle.

"The army has strong will and is determined to confront terrorism no matter what the sacrifices are," military sources told the newspaper.

Arsal Municipal chief Ali Hujeiri told the daily that the "residents of the town will not allow gunnies to create a fuss," calling on jihadists "to leave the town."

"The outskirts of Arsal is Lebanese land and the army could take all the necessary measures there," Hujeiri stressed, denying that Hizbullah approached the area.

Army Pounds Militant Posts on Outskirts of Arsal

[AnNahar] The Lebanese army targeted on Thursday bully boy positions and their movement on the outskirts of the northeastern border town of Arsal.

The state-run National News Agency reported that troops used heavy artillery and rocket launchers to pound the posts of jihadists and their movement.

Media reports said that the army also targeted gunnies on the outskirts of northeastern border village of Ras Baalbek in the Bekaa.

Harf: No Final Agreement with Iran If Access to Nuclear Sites Denied
[ALMANAR.LB] Acting spokeswoman for the United States Department of State Marie Harf said on Wednesday there would be no final nuclear agreement if Iran denied access to its nuclear scientists and military sites.

Harf made the remarks while commenting on latest position taken by Tehran about permitting foreign inspectors to have access to its nuclear scientists and military facilities.

The Supreme Fearless Leader of the Islamic Revolution
...Iran's doddering head theocrat...
Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei has made it clear on May 20 that he 'will not permit foreigners to come and interview with scientists of the nation who have gotten the domestic nuclear knowledge to this level.

Speaking at her press briefing, Harf said, "We and Iran have agreed that we will undertake a process to address possible military dimensions, and part of that includes access. And under the Additional Protocol, for example, which Iran will implement and has said they will implement as part of this deal, the IAEA does get access."

When first infected, usually two to six weeks are required before symptoms occur. The most common symptoms are severe itchiness and a rash. This may affect most of the body or just certain areas such as between the fingers, at the wrist, and at the waist. While the head may be affected in young children it is typically not affected in older children or adults. The itchy is often worse at night. The rash typically looks like pimples. Occasionally tiny burrows may be seen on the skin. If a person develops a second infection symptoms may start within a day. Scratching may cause skin breakdown and an additional bacterial infection of the skin.)

Zahran Alloush in another show off in Istanbul
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Zahran Alloush, Islam Army's commander, has appeared for the second time in Istanbul in two weeks as he was attending Islamic Dialogue Forum on Wednesday.

The head of main rebel group in Eastern Ghouta suburbs near Damascus, has raised the ire of his rivals from both sides, regime and opposition.

Pro-Bashir al-Assad social media pages has mocked the regime, asking how he (Allouch) reached The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
as most of Eastern Ghouta suburbs live under severe siege.

The forum has brought together 40 Syrian Islamic and political figures such like Muaz al-Khatib, former head of National Coalition.

Allouch and in an exclusive interview with al-Souria Net this week said the major decision-making power in Syria is now in the hands of Iran, explaining that the recent liquidation of senior regime officers was carried out on orders from Tehran.

Alloush also claims that the Army of Islam and other factions have developed an extensive plan to deal with the post-Assad stage.

On the ground, his gang, Jaysh al-Islam, has tightened the noose on 39 Brigade after three days of fierce fighting, taking control 3 checkpoints, on Wednesday.

Islam Army's front man, Islam Allouh, told Zaman al-Wasl that powerful air defense base is now under rebels' sight after taking control of neighboring towns as Tal Kurdi, Housh al-Khayyat and Maida'a and surrounding checkpoints.

week ago with 23 others in the mountainous region of Qalamoun near the Lebanese border.

Nusra's Shariah court said the freed fighters 'had not involved in killing acts against Moslems.'

Ten days ago, Army of Fatah in Qalamoun, including Nusra Front, had declared war on the Islamic Sate, saying the abuses of the ultra- hardline group can not be tolerated.

The newly formed group of number of Islamist factions that has been engaged in fierce fighting with Iran proxy Hezbollah on the Lebanese border since May 4, said fighting ISIS has become inevitable.

In what they called (Communique 1) Fatah Army said ISIS fighters have been killing and kidnapping rebels for over two years in Qalamoun as well as they are using the same ways Bashir al-Assad's regime use.

Activists said declaring war on ISIS in Qalamoun may weaken the Salafist tough guys including al-Qaeda local branch, the Nusra Front, in a decisive battle that may change alot in the map of Syrian conflict.

Meanwhile,

ISIS controls more than half of Syria's territory after its westwards advance into the central city of Palmyra, an activist group monitoring the war said Thursday.

The bad boy group, which already controlled wide tracts of land in Syria's north and east, captured the ancient city late on Wednesday, the first time it has seized a large population centre directly from Syrian pro-government forces, Rooters reported.

The areas it holds are mostly sparsely inhabited. Syria's main cities, including the capital Damascus, are located on its western flank along the border with Leb and the coastline and have been the priority for the Syrian military.

White House Denies Isis Has Established A Caliphate
[BREITBART] Thursday at the White House press briefing, when asked if he believes ISIS has a caliphate, press secretary Josh Earnest said, "No, I don't believe that at all."
Thereby demonstrating that he has no f***ing idea what he's talking about.
Earnest said, "No, I don't believe that at all. What we actually see is they do control some territory, but less than they used too.
How about Ramadi?
We also see that ISIS leaders are very concerned about their own security. They are not moving particularly freely these days. They are justifiably concerned about their safety because they know that the U.S. and our coalition partners have the capacity to take them off the battlefield."
