Egyptian authorities open Rafah border for one day for pilgrims
[AlAhram] The border will be closed on the same day

Egyptian authorities have opened the Rafah border crossing from one side on Thursday as an exception to receive pilgrims from the families of Paleostinian deaders travelling from the Gazoo Strip to Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, MENA reported.

About 500 people from the families of Paleostinians who bit the dust in the Gazoo war are performing the Hajj (the Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca), an official source on the Rafah border told MENA.

Vehicles have been provided for the pilgrims to travel to Cairo International Airport.

The last time the border was opened was in August 2015, allowing 6,329 people to pass through the border either way.

Egyptian authorities have for the most part kept the Rafah crossing closed since October 2014, following attacks by Islamist holy warriors in Egypt's governorate of North Sinai which left over 30 security personnel dead.

The authorities have on occasion opened the crossing for three-day periods, allowing the passage of those in need of medical care to Egypt as well as Paleostinians travelling in either direction.

Cairo has accused the Islamist movement Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,, the de facto rulers of the Israeli-besieged Gazoo Strip, of aiding Lion of Islam groups in northern Sinai. Hamas has repeatedly denied the accusations.

Government still seeks to wrest oil sales from Tripoli
[Libya Herald] According to the organisers, some 30 representatives of oil companies and brokers came to Malta today for a meeting called by the government-appointed management of the National Oil Corporation. However,
there's more than one way to skin a cat...
in a sign of how sensitive was this gathering held in defiance of the Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
-headquartered NOC, none of the participants names was revealed.

Nagi Elmagrabi, appointed by the Beida government in August to head the NOC warned that buyers who continued to deal with Tripoli, could face legal action. They should only be dealing with his NOC management.

In April prime minister Abdullah Al-Thinni demanded that NOC customers pay for Libyan oil via a new Dubai account, abandoning their normal settlement procedure, via a NOC account operated on behalf of the Central Bank by the Libyan Arab Foreign Bank in Naples.

With the possible exception of a few low profile deals, it appears that the government has sold virtually no oil.

Nevertheless, Nagi Elmagrabi, cautioned at Malta conference that buyers should deal only with that government.

Elmagrabi warned international companies about dealing with "illegal management" and said legal proceedings could be considered for violators, albeit as a last resort.

Beida insists that the government's international recognition status means it is entitled to Libya's overseas earnings, including its oil income, according to the general international legal precedent.

Aside from foreign reserves, oil and gas revenues are almost the only income for Libya, with both the recognised government and the rival administration in Tripoli depending on these revenues, as does much of Libya's population.

Production is hovering at about 300,000 to 350,000 barrels per day, about a third of production before the onset of civil war last summer. But the collapse in oil prices since last summer has almost halved the amount of money Libya gets per barrel. Libya has the largest oil reserves in Africa.

Production is mostly centred now in eastern Libya and at offshore fields north of the west coast.

The largest oil port, Es Sider, on the central northern coast, remains shut and under force majeure, a legal status protecting it against liability for not fulfilling contracts, since fighting there last December.

Bernardino Leon, United Nations

Special Mission to Libya envoy, told a Spanish newspaper some months ago that he favoured seeing the NOC, along with the Central Bank and the Libya Investment Authority, operated as "independent" entities.

Warshefana tribe ready for peace with all groups, but 'on condition'
[Libya Herald] The Warshefana say they are willing to make peace and reconciliation with all Libyans and other tribes "without exception". However,
it's easy to be generous with someone else's money...
in a statement published on Facebook, the Warshefana, based south west of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, set seven conditions "necessary to the success of any reconciliation in the near future".

Heading the list, they said that "catastrophe" of the 17 February Revolution was preventing reconciliation and peace. This is seen as indicating that that the they believe Libya has to move on from the revolution and concepts of "revolutionary legitimacy" and build the country anew.

Other conditions are that all parties must "stop supporting terrorist organizations and the Kharajites" (a reference to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
) and instead support true Islam and what they called the Malaki Salafist principles". (The term "Salafist" in Libya means devout and purist.)

The Warshefana also called for all prisoners and detainees to be released and the victims of festivities and attacks since the outbreak of the revolution to be compensated.

In the aftermath of the revolution, the Warshefana were regularly condemned as Qadaffy supporters. At the beginning of last year, revolutionaries, mainly from Tripoli and Zawia, blitzed the area, killing hundreds of locals and forcing several thousand to flee. As a result, when most of those same revolutionaries last summer joined Libya Dawn
...aka Fajr Libya, the Islamist operation launched to counter that of General Khalifa Haftar (Operation Dignity). It is made up of the Libya Shield militia (Misrata and Moslem Brotherhood), Libya Revolutionaries Operations Room (Moslem Brotherhood), and Tripoli Brigade (close to Abdul Hakim Belhaj, head of Al-Watan party). Financing and moral support come from Turkey and Qatar...
, the Warshefana allied themselves to its opponents, the Zintanis and the House of Representatives. Since then a slow campaign has resulted in Warshefana recapturingmost of their area, but at considerable cost.

Europe
EU Parliament Backs Refugee Relocation Plan
[AnNahar] The European Parliament on Thursday backed plans to relocate 120,000 refugees around the EU to help the frontline states of Greece, Hungary and Italia, in a move that raised pressure on ministers to adopt the proposals next week.

In an emergency vote called after EU interior ministers failed to back the scheme on Monday,
Hark! Is that the sound of Hell freezing over?
politicians approved the plans by the European Commission -- the EU's executive -- by 372 votes to 124 with 54 abstentions.

The ministers meet again Tuesday to discuss the plans with a possible summit of EU leaders also on the cards. Parliament had to approve the plans but would normally have done so after EU states had rubberstamped them.

Fleeing war and poverty in the Middle East and Africa, nearly 500,000 migrants have flooded into Europe and EU member states have until now only agreed to relocate 40,000 asylum seekers from Italia and Greece.

Hopes of a unanimous deal collapsed in the face of opposition from Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania at the crisis meeting in Brussels, officials said.

Suspected 'Islamist' shot dead after knife attack on German policewoman identified: Prosecutors
More on this story from yesterday.
[AlAhram] German police on Thursday rubbed out an Iraqi man who maimed a policewoman with a knife in Berlin, with prosecutors saying he was a "suspected Islamist".

The 41-year-old man had previously been sentenced in 2008 to a jail term for planning an attack against former Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi
... Iraqi politician, interim Prime Minister prior to Iraq's 2005 legislative elections. A former Ba'athist, Allawi helped found the Iraqi National Accord, which today is an active political party. He survived assassination attempts in 1978, in 2004, and on April 20, 2005. One of these days he won't...
, a prosecution front man told AFP.

Prosecution service front man Martin Steltner identified the man as "Rafik Y.", saying he was sentenced in 2008 to an eight year prison term for his role in a plot against Allawi.

In the 2008 court case, Rafik Mohamad Yusef was one of three Iraqi men sentenced to jail terms.

The three were convicted of belonging to a foreign terrorist organization -- Iraqi Death Eater group Ansar al-Islam -- and attempted conspiracy to commit murder.

The court found that their plot to assassinate Allawi had been hatched only days before his brief trip to Berlin in December 2004.

Authorities insist they foiled the planned attack but conceded before the start of the trial in June 2006 that they knew too little of the plan to charge the defendants with attempted murder.

#1  This is just the latest example of Muslims wickedly, treacherously and insidiously abusing and weaponizing Western hospitality and Western readiness to help those in need and danger.

This abuse, this weaponization is the reason why I am absolutely opposed to taking in Muslim refugees for any reason.

If these 'refugees' or others don't like my position? Tough!

If they want to complain, then complaints should be directed at the likes of Atta, the Tsarnayevs, the Glasgow bombers, the Madrid bombers, the 7/7 bombers, the Times Square Bomber, Theo Van Gogh's killer, the Thalys terrorist, Nidal Hassan, etc etc etc.

None of their crimes would have been possible without the above mentioned Western hospitality and Western readiness to help.

Refugees see last chance for Europe before winter closes route from Turkey
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Hundreds of Syrians and other migrants thronged a small park in central Istanbul on Wednesday, hoping for a last chance to reach Europe before poor weather makes their favored route from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
to Greece too dangerous to undertake.

"It is time to go, while the door to Europe is open," said Zopir, 20, who fled the Syrian town of Deir al-Zor three years ago and now wants to reach Europe before his wife, eight months pregnant, gives birth. "I am afraid, but I am ready."

Zopir scraped together 8,000 euros ($9,000) for their trip, which begins in and near the park in Aksaray, a working-class district of Istanbul, by hiring a "dealer": a front man for smugglers who help refugees reach the Aegean coast.

Zopir and his wife are part of this year's record wave of more than 300,000 people fleeing war, persecution and poverty for Europe and using Greece as a springboard. That marks a fivefold rise since 2014 and their numbers continue to grow, the International Organisation of Migration (IOM) says.

Now, that crossing is becoming treacherous and will soon be altogether impassable as autumn descends and winds pick up and churn the Aegean Sea, placid during the summer months.

"This is the last week. After this, the waves become too big," said Joseph, a 37-year-old Paleostinian who has worked as a dealer for four years. He declined to give his surname.

Less scrupulous dealers may organize trips after the weather turns, he said. Migrants from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Africa find Joseph, who runs a team of seven men, through word of mouth. Others are listed on Facebook pages run by refugees.

Joseph finds them a consignee, who, for a small fee, holds their money and pays smugglers once they get a call with a password from Europe. They are then passed to the next middleman, who bundles them into vans leaving for the coast.

It is a lucrative trade. Joseph says he works for three months of the year, taking a $100 cut of the $800 each of his 100 or so customers a week pay to jam themselves into a rubber boat or small dinghy to reach the Greek islands.

The Grand Turk
Hurriyet files criminal complaints against AKP lawmaker, tabloid
[Hurriyet Daily News] Hurriyet Editor-in-Chief Sedat Ergin and columnist Ahmet Hakan filed a criminal complaint Sept. 17 against Justice and Development Party (AKP) politician Adnan Boynukalin on charges of making insults, issuing threats and praising crime and criminals.

Also on Sept. 17 , Dogan Holding Honorary Chairman Aydin Dogan, Hurriyet, Dogan News Agency (DHA) and Doruk Television and Radio Broadcasting filed criminal complaints against a tabloid and its executives on the grounds of slander and defamation.

In the complaint, the complainants demanded Ethem Sancak, owner of the tabloid Gunes; its editor-in-chief, Turgay Guler; and editor Mustafa Dolu face trial for a widely derided front-page story in the pro-government daily.

A prosecutor launched an investigation into the Dogan Media Group for "terrorist propaganda" on Sept. 15 based on the tabloid's front page.

Some of the claims in the Gunes story had already been declared unfounded by the Turkish judiciary, which had refused to launch a case. Deputy Chief Prosecutor Idris Kurt, however, took Gunes's allegations seriously and initiated the probe.

Tens of thousands in Turkey's capital rally against 'terror'
[Hurriyet Daily News] Tens of thousands of people from across The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
flocked into downtown Ankara on Sept. 17 to condemn terrorism and display solidarity, with the organizers of the mass rally particularly putting emphasis on the unity of the nation.

More than 250 business associations, unions and professional chambers joined the rally, which was called three days previously.

The rally was open to all citizens, with organizers saying it would not represent any political party or view. The mass gathering was called to give voice to people's resentment over the loss of a rising number of security forces in a renewed conflict between Turkey's security forces and the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
Ah. An anti-Kurd rally, then, possibly astroturfed.
Participants in the rally displayed "a national stance," Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodities Exchanges (TOBB) President Rifat Hisarciklioglu said, addressing the crowd after they marched from Sihhiye Square to Ulus. The march ended in the late afternoon on Sept. 17 in front of the old parliament building, which is considered to be "the founding assembly" of the Republic of Turkey.

"We have different views but we have common points as we are all in love with this homeland. We could not have remained silent while our homeland, our serenity, our today and our tomorrow have been targeted. We could not have remained silent in the face of those who want to set us against each other. We could not have remained silent while polarization among society has grown each day," Hisarciklioglu said.

"We have come here with our red flags with the crescent and star. We have come here to disrupt the dirty plot being played on us. We have come here to strengthen societal peace and ameliorate our broken hopes. We have cursed terror and claimed our fraternity. We said 'No to terror, yes to fraternity,'" he said, underlining that they had especially chosen the old parliament as their final destination because it is the best example of the country's "will to live together."

"We should avoid all kind of actions that would harm our citizens in the name of condemning terror," he said.
Lots of fine words, all suitably vague.

Daily Hurriyet cannot be silenced, CHP leader says
[Hurriyet Daily News] Daily Hurriyet cannot be silenced with politically motivated probes and attacks, Republican People's Party (CHP) chair Kemal Kilicdaroglu has said.

"If the right to be informed is restricted in a country, then we can't talk about democracy in that country. Hurriyet is the most important newspaper in the world of the press. If the aim of this investigation is to silence Hurriyet and its writers, they should know that they are not powerful enough to accomplish it," Kilicdaroglu said during a live interview on private broadcaster CNNTurk late Sept. 16.

On Sept. 15, Turkish prosecutors launched an investigation into the Dogan Media Group, which owns daily Hurriyet, the Hurriyet Daily News, CNNTurk and a number of other media outlets, for "terrorist propaganda," after accepting a widely derided front-page story in pro-government tabloid Gunes published five days earlier as a criminal denunciation.

Erdogan likens his link to AKP to parent's affinity for child
[Hurriyet Daily News] Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
has compared his affection for the Justice and Development Party (AKP) to that of a parent for their children, amid reports that the constitutionally impartial president flexed his muscles to intimately shape the party at its Sept. 12 congress.

"I cannot see anything more natural than [Prime Minister Ahmet] Davutoglu meeting with me before the congress and me sharing my convictions with him," Erdogan said in an interview late on Sept. 16, describing news reports on the issue as "very awful."

"I am the founding leader of this party. I am not one of the founders, I am the founding leader. I am the personality who brought these founders together and exerted this effort. So like a mother and father who follow their child, I also followed this first congress," he added, referring to the fact that the Sept. 12 congress of the AKP, founded in 2001, was its first regular congress without the presence of its founding leader.

Erdogan made his clout felt at the event with loyal names elected to the party's decision-making body, overshadowing Davutoglu's preferences after the latter's reelection as AKP leader.

Iran nuclear deal adoption to take place October 18
[IsraelTimes] Controversial accord to be implemented next month; US says Tehran must take steps to satisfy IAEA before punitive measures removed

The formal adoption of the Iran nuclear deal will be Oct. 18, but it is not yet clear how long it will take for Iran to satisfy conditions to relieve sanctions, top US officials said.

The senior administration officials, speaking Thursday afternoon in a conference call with news hounds, outlined the steps Iran must take before inspectors with the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency, the UN nuclear watchdog, confirm that Iran is in compliance with the nuclear deal reached in July between Iran and six major powers.

The call to news hounds came the same day that the B.O. regime announced that Stephen Mull, the outgoing ambassador to Poland, would be the point person for ensuring Iranian compliance with the deal.

Among other measures, Iran must remove thousands of centrifuges from its Natanz reactor, ship overseas all but 300 kilograms of 12,000 kilograms of enriched uranium and remove the center of its plutonium reactor, the officials said.

Because of how involved the measures are, the officials would not estimate how long it would take to get to "implementation day," when the IAEA confirms compliance and sanctions are lifted. Reports have indicated that Iran is likely to comply with conditions in from between six months to a year from adoption of the deal.

"All of this will take a lot of effort and probably a fair amount of time," said an official. "The ball is in Iran's court -- it's hard to predict how long it will be before sanctions relief is implemented."

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity.

One condition the Iranians must complete prior to Oct. 18, or "adoption day," is to report to the IAEA on the possible military dimensions of its past nuclear activity. Iran has instead its nuclear research is for civilian purposes only. The deadline for Iran's report to the IAEA is Oct. 15.

The B.O. regime on Thursday said the way was clear to launch the deal now that Congress has reached the deadline to pass a bill that would kill the deal. Senate Democrats used parliamentary procedures to block votes last week, on Tuesday and then on Thursday.
More details on the implementation of President Obama's deal here.

Terrorists thrown out from Fata for good: army chief
[DAWN] Army Chief Gen Raheel Sharif
..Pak chief of army staff, meaning he pulls the strings on the Nawaz Sharif puppet to make it dance and sing and not do much at all....
has reiterated that gunnies will not be allowed to return to Fata and the army will remain in the area to complete its job.

He said the operation Zarb-e-Azb
..the Pak offensive against Qaeda in Pakistain and the Pak Taliban in North Wazoo. The name refers to the sword of the Prophet (PTUI!)...
was in its final stage in a few pockets. "Army won't go back from the area till the job is done," Gen Raheel Sharif said during a visit to Wana, the administrative headquarters of South Wazoo, on Wednesday.

According to ISPR Director General Maj Gen Asim Bajwa, the army chief was accompanied by UAE Ambassador Essa Abdulla Albasha Al-Nuaimi and Peshawar Corps Commander Lt Gen Hidayat Rehman.

The army chief addressed tribal elders and inaugurated several development projects as part of a post-operation comprehensive rehabilitation plan for Fata, including a UAE-funded Wana Cadet College building for 500 children from Waziristan and the rest of Fata.

An ISPR blurb said the initiative will go a great length in propelling the local youth into professional colleges and changing lives of their families. The army chief later commissioned a 132kV grid station and a 54km transmission line in Wana as modern power infrastructure was a longstanding demand of the people of Fata.

Addressing a gathering of tribal people, the COAS said these projects would improve the quality of life of common people, create jobs and usher in an era of prosperity in the area, which is "our main objective".

The army chief also visited Dera Ismail Khan
... the Pearl of Pashtunistan ...
and inaugurated a USAID-funded 62km D.I. Khan-Hathala-Tank dual-carriage road as part of the 705km Central Trade Corridor linking the region with Afghanistan. The road will reduce travel time between two cities from four hours to only 40 minutes.

Gen Raheel Sharif assured the local people that the plan to rehabilitate them would be effectively implemented and the displaced people would return to a better and structurally much developed region.

'Regional imbalance' rising from US tilt towards India: Sartaj Aziz
[DAWN] Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz
...Adviser to Pak Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on National Security and Foreign Affairs, who believes in good jihadis and bad jihadis as a matter of national policy...
on Thursday said United State's defence cooperation with India was enhancing imbalance in South Asia, adding that Pakistain's reservations in this regard have been conveyed to the Unites States, Radio Pakistain reported.

Sartaj Aziz said Pakistain had also conveyed to the United States that conventional and non-conventional imbalance in South Asia should be considered while entering into any sort of defence cooperation with India.

"It is becoming clear that America is preparing India to reduce the influence of China in the region."

"Pakistain's cooperation with China is development-oriented and India has no business objecting to it. Pakistain is fully capable of safeguarding its interests and illusory sovereignty."

The adviser on foreign affairs made it clear that whenever dialogue with India resumes, the two countries will discuss all issues including the core issue of Jammu and Kashmire.

"There can be talks on all issues but no issue would be discussed in isolation on India's demand."

#1  I'm surprised 'O' hasn't pissed off the Indians yet, not like he hasn't tried.

Rather have those folks in our corner. They actually like us for whatever reason.

Prosor : Abbas fuels Temple Mount fire, UN fans the flames
Israel's Ambassador to the UN Ron Prosor reacted Friday morning to the UN Security Council's statement concerning the escalating tensions on in Jerusalem saying that "When the Palestinians set the Temple Mount ablaze, Mahmoud Abbas fuels the fire, and the Security Council fans the flames, it is a recipe for a regional explosion."
When you have an ISIS crisis, and Iranian Crisis, and Syrian Crisis, and Refugee Crisis, and Ukrainian Crisis, and North Korean Crisis---what do you do?

UN envoy says Gaza reconstruction speeding up
[Ynet] The United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
' Mideast envoy has given a rare upbeat assessment in the Gazoo Strip, saying that postwar reconstruction is speeding up.

Thousands of homes were destroyed or damaged in the 50 days of fighting between Israel and the Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, Lion of Islam group last summer. The reconstruction of hundreds of houses started last month with help from Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
, which has donated millions of dollars to rebuild 1,000 housing units. UN envoy Nikolay Mladenov said in Gazoo City on Thursday that reconstruction has "visibly accelerated" over the past two months. Construction materials are shipped into Gazoo from Israel through a UN-supervised program that ensures the goods are not diverted to Hamas. Mladenov warned, however, that faster construction would require the internationally recognized Paleostinian Authority to take back control of Hamas-ruled Gazoo.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
US denies sending troops to Syria Kurdish fighters
[Hurriyet Daily News] The U.S. Central Command has strictly denied that U.S. troops are working on the ground with Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) forces in Syria, clarifying a recent statement from General Lloyd Austin, the head of Centcom.

Centcom said in a written statement on Sept. 16 that the general had been referring to the "coordinating relationship that U.S. Special Operations Forces share with Syrian anti-ISIL forces."

"Our special operations forces in northern Syria did not wait for the New Syrian Force program, or the train and equip program, to fully develop," Austin had said earlier in the day.

"At the very outset, they began to engage elements like the YPG and enable those elements. They are now making a difference on the battlefield," he added.

However,
if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning...
the Centcom statement stressed that "there are no U.S. military forces on the ground in Syria, nor have we conducted any U.S. military training of indigenous Syrian forces in Syria."

2500 Russians are fighting alongside ISIS in Syria
For those tracking such things:
[IraqiNews] Russian Social Council said that nearly 2500 Russian citizens are fighting alongside ISIS in Syria.

Head of the Civic chamber commission on the public diplomacy and support of compatriots abroad Elena Sutormina said: "recent data indicate that there are about 2500 Russian citizens and 7000 citizens of other independent states are there."

Sutormina added in a radio interview that those who recruited turbans are giving special attention to the residents of the villages and mountain villages "where there are no prospects for young people."

Local medical body pleas to save civilians of embattled Zabadani
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] A medical crew in the besieged border town of Zabadani west of Damascus has appealed to human rights
When they're defined by the state or an NGO they don't mean much...
organizations and world powers for an immediate intervention to safe lives of civilians trapped in the town that has been under devastating attack by Syrian regime army and key ally Hezbollah militia for over two months.

The medical commission of Zabadani town, about 45 km (30 miles) northwest of the capital Damascus, said the International Community should shoulder the responsibility of civilians' life and should take a solid act.

Also, the rebels in Zabadani have appealed to their counterparts near Damascus to send reinforcements and ammunition as well to escalate attacks to relieve pressure on them.

Hezbollah bully boyz and the army have controlled most of Zabadani city after intense aerial bombardments and heavy artillery fire on rebels hideouts.
Meanwhile,
...back at the Council of Boskone, Helmuth ordered the entire 614th quadrant searched. The Green Lensman must be found!...
activist said rebels have killed 8 Hezbollah fighters near Zabadni, taking control of three buildings and ammunition.

Syrian opposition sources said at least 196 Hezbollah fighters have been killed since the offensive on Qalamoun begun in May 2015, 108 of them killed in Zabadni.

According to Rooters, the control of the city is seen as crucial to consolidate government-held areas linking Leb and Syria. Zabadani is a former popular resort on the main Beirut-Damascus highway.

Its capture would be a strategic gain for al-Assad, whose army is battling on several other fronts with groups including non-jihadist rebels and hardline Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
bad boys.

Iranian Officials Reveal That Secret Negotiations With U.S. Began In 2011 after US knuckled under Teheran's demands
We like your contributions, BU. Please make it a little easier on us by classifying your submission properly
Here's how I do it:

o P.1 War on Terror is for kinetic action, explosions, murder and kidnapping, and arrests and convictions.

o P. 2 WoT Background is for army maneuvers short of kinetics, politics, statistics and background about P.1 activities, trials, and release of prisoners, unless kinetic action is involved.

o If it's an op-ed or from most blogs, it's P.4 Opinion -- if you want it in P.1 or P.2 news, go to the original news report the blogger was discussing, then add perspective via in-lines.

o If Communists, Russia, China, or North Korea are involved, it's P.3 Non-WoT, unless connected to Iran, Syria, or other WoT actors doing WoT things, eg. Russia supporting Assad or NorK selling Iran nuclear device technology.
[MEMRI] American administration spokesmen have explained the nuclear agreement with Iran as both leveraging the opportunity created by the election of a pragmatic Iranian president, Hassan Rohani in June 2013, and as vital because the sanctions have not set back Iran's nuclear program, and the West has grown weary of enforcing them.[1]

However, it has emerged that the U.S. began secret negotiations even earlier, in 2011, during the presidency of the extremist Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Moreover, during that time, not only had the Western countries not lost interest in maintaining the sanctions, but they had intensified them significantly after the beginning of the secret negotiations -- both in March 2012, when sanctioned Iranian banks were disconnected from the SWIFT system, and in July 2012, when the European sanctions on Iranian oil sales were imposed.
Furthermore, according to recent reports in Western media from Western sources, the Obama administration had, since President Obama took office in 2008, constantly and consistently pushed for negotiations with Iran. President Obama's messages in this regard to Iran's leadership on various levels -- letters, public speeches, and so on -- began as early as 2009; details of these media reports and of Obama's messages will be published in a separate MEMRI report.

Additionally, it is evident from statements by top Iranian officials that the secret contacts initiated by the Obama administration with Iran did indeed begin in 2011, during the extremist Ahmadinejad's presidency -- before harsh sanctions were imposed.

This paper will present the Iranian narrative, as related by senior Iranian regime officials, about the beginning of the secret contacts between the U.S. and Iran that ultimately led to the announcement of the JCPOA in July 2015:

#3  Mighty "Red Line" Not-A-Defender, Anti-US US OWG Globalist Bammer Admin.

* FYI WORLD MILITARY FORUM ARTICS > looks like Pro-China/PLA Analysts-Bloggers are hoping that the PLA's new DF-21C/D, DF-26 "Guam/Diego Garcia Killer" ["Guam Express"], DF-31/41 ICBMS, + ALCM-capable PLAAF H-6K LR Strategic Bombers will induce the USN to install BMD Lasers aboard its AEGIS or SUPER-AEGIS Warships, but also to cause the US = USDOD to pullout or fallback from East Asia-WESTPAC towards Hawaii-EASTPAC, wid USDOD MilOps in WESTPAC-CENTPAC to be generally or broadly "paralyzed".

IOW, THE US FROM NOW ON IS TO BE ON THE STRATEGIC
