US, Pakistan Call For Taliban To Return To Peace Talks
[ToloNews] US President Barack Obama
Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it. Not smack, though....
and Pakistain's prime minister issued a joint call for the Taliban to return to peace talks with the Afghan government, as the pair stressed the positives of a troubled alliance Thursday.

Afghan Migrants Deported From Europe Speak Of Their Ordeal
[ToloNews] A number of refugees who have returned to Afghanistan after fleeing the country for Europe on Thursday called on their fellow countrymen not to leave the country illegally, saying the journey overland is a nightmare.

Describing their ordeal, the return refugees, many of whom where deported from European countries, related harrowing tales of their trip to Europe, including death threats received along the way.

One migrant who has returned told how he was subjected to extreme weather conditions in Serbia and Croatia, while others said they had lost many friends and relatives while traveling through Iran and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
.

"There were five of us when we started our journey but now I am alone and have no information about my friends," said Sayed Jarullah.

"The Iranian police and soldiers do not value the Afghans at all. They never treat Afghans like humans," another young Afghan said after being deported back to Afghanistan.

Reports suggest that about one hundred passenger vehicles leave Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
for Nimroz province daily -- which borders Iran.

Europe, especially Germany is facing a huge refugee crisis as thousands of refugees from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan have flocked to Europe in a bid to seek asylum and find work.

"80 percent of the Afghans that travel to Iran do not stay in the country. They travel from Iran to Turkey and then Greece and then Germany or other European countries," head of a transport company Sirajuddin said.

But people warn if insecurity and the lack of employment persist in the country, people will continue to flee.

Dand-e-Ghori Deal with Taliban Cancelled: Officials
[ToloNews] The Head of Baghlan's Provincial Council on Thursday announced the Dand-e-Ghori deal has been cancelled after the Taliban violated the controversial accord which was followed by a public outcry.

The deal was allegedly signed between some government officials and the Taliban in September and stipulated that neither the Afghan cops nor the Taliban could carry out operations or attacks respectively in Dand-e-Ghori area, which is part of Pul-e-Khumri city in Baghlan.

The Minister of Borders and Tribal Affairs, Gulab Mangal, along with a number of tribal elders and local officials from Baghlan were said to have been part to the agreement - which critics claimed was a simple gesture of handing the area over to the Taliban.

However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
Baghlan's provincial council head Mohammad Safdar Mohsini -- who was one of the signatories to the accord -- said the agreement no longer had any credibility following several attacks by the Taliban in the area.

He called on government to send in troops to Dand-e-Ghori where he said Taliban were present in large numbers.

"Taliban violated this accord several times. They were not abiding by this agreement, therefore, this is no longer valid," Mohsini said.

Provincial council members have said the accord is no longer valid as it does not work in the interests of the people and the security forces.

"We were against this accord from the beginning because after this agreement, our soldiers were being killed every day," provincial council member Mohammad Zarif Zarif said.

Shamsul Haq Barekzai, another provincial politician said: "This accord took the fighting to other areas where the people paid the price."

In addition, the police chief of Baghlan said the accord had prevented them from launching anti-insurgent operations.

"This accord prevents us from launching operation. Now we are waiting for the decision of the central government," acting police chief Abdul Rashid Bashir said.

Former governor of Baghlan and the provincial director of National Directorate of Security
...the Afghan national intel agency...
(NDS) were both reportedly fired from their positions for having been involved in the deal. The Police Chief of Baghlan was also involved in the accord. He has allegedly left the province.

UNSC resolution reaffirms arms embargo on Somalia, Eritrea
The United Nations Security Council today extended the arms embargo on Somalia until 15 November 2016 while reaffirming the country’s sovereignty over its natural resources, while also reaffirming its arms embargo on Eritrea.

Adopting a new resolution by a vote of 14 in favour and 1 abstention (Venezuela), the Council also extended the mandate of the Somalia and Eritrea Monitoring Group until 15 December 2016, and reiterated its expectation that the Government of Eritrea would facilitate the Group’s entry into that country.
Good luck with that...
Reaffirming Somalia’s sovereignty over its natural resources, the Council underlined the vital importance of the Federal Government of Somalia putting in place a resource-sharing agreement to ensure that the national petroleum sector did not become a source of increased tension. The Council condemned the ongoing export of charcoal from Somalia in violation of the total ban on charcoal exports.

The Council expressed serious concern about the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Somalia and condemned in the strongest terms increased attacks against humanitarian actors. It also expressed concern about continued reports of corruption, diversion of public resources and financial impropriety involving members of the Federal Government Administrations and the Federal Parliament, underlining that individuals engaged in acts that threatened Somalia’s peace and reconciliation process might be listed for targeted sanctions.

Also by the text, the Council urged the Government of Eritrea to allow access or provide information, including to the Monitoring Group, on the Djiboutian prisoners missing in action since clashes between the two countries from 10 to 12 June 2008.

IS can round up 20, 000 fighters if it wants to attack Tunisia
A Tunisian IS expert and sociologist indicated Thursday that the terrorist organisation can recruit up to 20,000 fighters if it wants to attack Tunisia, a country prone to terrorist attacks.

Tunisian researcher and expert Moncef Ouannes told a local radio station that the fight against terrorism in the region, mainly in Libya and Syria will require an international coalition adding that a single country cannot win the fight.

Tunisia has become a breeding ground for Islamic State fighters and according to some estimates, there could be more Tunisians among foreign jihadists fighting in Syria and Iraq than from any other single country. The Tunisian interior ministry itself estimates that at least 2,400 of its citizens have become combatants in Syria since 2011, and that around 400 have returned home.

The Tunisian expert said that Libya has been unable to show any real will to combat IS which has imposed its rule in some parts of the country.

In the current confusion and foggy political horizon, it will be difficult to see the US and Russia intervene in Libya to chase out the 5,000 estimated IS fighters roaming in the country, he said adding that France, Italy and Egypt are the only countries likely able to end the bloodshed in former ruler Gaddafi’s country.
In other words, Libya is doomed...
The Tunisian expert pointed out that IS may soon step up its operations in Libya as the Islamist movement is, according to him, waiting for the winner to emerge in the battle between Gen. Haftar forces and the Fajr militia in Libya in order to submerge the country.

He added that IS has some connections with Muslim Brotherhood in Libya.

SA's African National Congress (ANC) welcomes HAMAS to the Cape
[Center for Security Policy] South Africa's ruling party The African National Congress (ANC) is currently playing host to foreign terrorist organization Hamas, including leaders Khaled Mashaal and Mousa Abu Marzook. Mashaal met personally with South African president Jacob Zuma, exchanged gifts and signed a letter of intent for future cooperation. The ANC Secretary General Gwede Mantashe said the ANC would be "starting a relationship with Hamas" and that the two would work together in "all struggles for freedom of Palestine."

South Africa's support for the terrorist organization Hamas does not come as a particular shock. South Africa has grown increasingly close to a number of rogue actors, including Iran, Sudan, and Hamas.
Birds of a feather.
South Africa's ever-closer alignment with Hamas has been a long time coming, facilitated by local South African Muslim Brotherhood-linked organizations. Specifically, the two organizations that are sponsoring a rally on October 21st Rally, to welcome Hamas, the Muslim Judicial Council and the Al Quds Foundation-South Africa.

The Muslim Judicial Council (MJC) is one of the leading South African Islamic organization established in 1945, but opening its first formal office in 1982. It describes itself as "a Muslim Judiciary" for South Africa, and manages everything from Halal inspection of food to issuing Islamic legal rulings, or fatwas.

It is also the South African branch of the global Hamas fundraising network known as The Union of the Good. This gives the MJC the same role in South Africa as was played by the Holy Land Foundation (HLF) in the United States. In 2008, HLF and its founders were convicted for their role in supporting material support for Hamas.
The love affair continues.

Germany speeds up new measures to deal with refugee influx
[AlArabiya] Germany is introducing measures to tackle its refugee crisis earlier than previously expected, a top government official said on Friday, allowing accelerated deportation procedures to begin as early as next week.

Germany expects a record influx of more than 800,000 migrants this year, by far the most in the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
. With the new measures, Berlin is aiming to cope better with the unprecedented number of arrivals and to stem the influx.

The tighter rules aim to speed up asylum and extradition procedures for migrants from southeastern Europe, in order to focus on refugees from war-torn countries such as Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Peter Altmaier, Chancellor Angela Merkel
...current chancellor of Germany. She was educated in East Germany when is was still run by commies, but in 1989 got involved with the growing democracy movement when the Berlin Wall fell. Merkel is sometimes referred to by Germans as Mom...
's chief of staff, said the new measures could now be expected to come into effect before a previously foreseen start date of Nov. 1.

"That would be a good signal," he told ARD television.

"We want to get better and faster this year at the deportation of rejected applicants who have no claim to remain here," added Altmaier, who Merkel appointed earlier this month to oversee her government's handling of the refugee crisis.

Support for Merkel's conservatives has fallen due to concern over the refugee crisis.

Many Germans feel the country cannot cope with the record influx. A poll for ARD showed three-quarters of Germans expect the influx of refugees to change German society.

Several European leaders are due to meet on Sunday to tackle the migrant crisis in the western Balkans as thousands trying to reach Germany are trapped in deteriorating conditions.

Hungary has responded to the largest migration wave Europe has seen since World War Two by building a steel fence along its borders with Serbia and Croatia, a step both welcomed and criticized by various leaders around Europe.

"The more fences are erected the greater the misery," Altmaier said. "Europe must see to it that this movement and this influx is orderly and structured."

The head of Germany's police trade union, Rainer Wendt, said the crisis was stretching police resources thin. "I have personally told the chancellor: we can't be in two places at once," Wendt told newspaper Die Welt.

#1  "Germany expects a record influx of more than 800,000 migrants this year"

The official estimate is >> 1,000,000.

If nothing changes this amounts to about 10,000,000 per year with chain migration taken into account.

Absent such drastic change Germany will be a failed state by 2017 when the next general election for parliament is scheduled.

Greece sees record 48,000 arrivals in past five days: IOM
[Hurriyet] Greece has seen a record 48,000 migrants and refugees land on its shores in the space of just five days, the International Organization for Migration said on Oct. 23.

"Despite deteriorating weather conditions, approximately 48,000 refugees and migrants crossed from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
to the Greek islands, or about 9,600 migrants and refugees in each of the past five days," the IOM said in a statement, referring to the period between October 17 and 21.

The number of arrivals peaked on Oct. 20 when nearly 11,000 people had landed on the Greek islands, the organization said.

"The influx has left many local authorities unprepared," the IOM said.

More than half of those crossing from Turkey had landed on the island of Lesbos, which saw 27,276 arrivals during the five-day period, it said. The island of Chios recorded 9,750 arrivals over the same period.

In previous years, the numbers crossing the Mediterranean to Europe have dropped off sharply as winter approaches, but the IOM said the recent arrivals far exceeded the summer peaks.

Chios, which had only been receiving some 300 migrants a day during the peak summer period, was last week taking in around 2,000 a day, it said.

They are among more than 600,000 people, mainly fleeing violence in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, who have braved the dangerous sea journey to Europe so far this year.

The rising numbers of people attempting the crossing to Greece has resulted in a growing number of deaths at sea, the organization said. Since Oct. 19, 18 migrants and refugees are believed to have died in two separate incidents. So far this year, around 335 people have died while crossing from Turkey to Greece, the IOM said.

More than 2,800 have meanwhile perished attempting the much longer and more perilous crossing from Libya to Italia, bringing the total number of deaths to 3,175, the IOM said.

Somali national killed in Sweden
A masked swordsman who killed a teaching assistant and a boy and wounded two others sought out his victims, all with immigrant backgrounds, by skin color in an attack that has fueled fears that a big refugee influx is polarizing Swedish public opinion.
Yup, it looks like haters have to hate. Fail to control things properly and haters just bubble up from the slime...
The 21-year-old assailant strode on Thursday through a school in Trollhattan, an industrial town in western Sweden with a large immigrant population, stabbing his victims with the sword before being shot dead by police. Security footage from the school showed the killer marching through school corridors and stopping to talk to light-skinned students, police said.

“Everything points to this being a hate crime,” lead investigator Thord Haraldsson told a news conference. “He selected his victims and attacked the dark-skinned ones and left the light-skinned ones alone.”

More than 125 Danes have joined ISIS
Entering an already target rich environment
[ARA News] QAMISHLI – Since the emergence of the extremist Islamic State group (ISIS), thousands of westerners have joined its ranks. The Western governments expressed fear of the returnee jihadists, who could carry out attacks against European and American interests in their countries.

The Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) said Friday that some 125 Danish citizens have joined ISIS since the group declared its alleged caliphate in Syria and Iraq.

“Since the summer of 2012, nearly 125 Danish citizens have left the country to join radical groups in Iraq and Syria, and those who have returned could carry out attacks,” PET said in a statement.

The agency’s Center for Terror Analysis (CTA) warned that “the number can be higher” than expected.

The CTA indicated that the majority of those who have left Denmark to fight for ISIS are young Sunni Muslims and up to ten percent of them are women.

The conflict in Syria and Iraq is a major threat to Denmark, according to PET.

Among the returnees, there are individuals who can pose a terror threat. They can carry out terror attacks individually or at the request or instruction from terror groups.

The Grand Turk
Ankara bombers’ driver member of ISIL, ex-member of al-Nusra: Report
[Hurriyet] One of the drivers of the two jacket wallahs in the Ankara attack on Oct. 10 which killed 102 people, including the two bombers, has been identified as a former member of al-Nursa who is a current member of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), state-run Anadolu Agency reported security officials as saying.

One of the two suicide bombers, Yunus Emre Alagöz, who was identified through a DNA sample, and the other unidentified bomber, who was considered to be a foreigner, crossed into The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
from Syria in the evening hours of Oct. 9, with the help of Halil Ibrahim Durgun.

The two suicide bombers were brought to a cell house in Turkey's southeastern province of Gaziantep, where they were fitted with the boom jackets before setting out for Ankara in two cars.

The first car was driven by Yakup Sahin, who was determined to be a former al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli sh-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
member and a current ISIL member, while the two suicide bombers were in the second car, which was driven by Durgun.

Sahin's role was as an observer for the safety of the second car, which contained the bombers. Durgun left the bombers on a side road of Konya Boulevard, from where they used two taxis to reach the main Ankara train station, the site of the bombing, though they had to leave the second taxi prior to reaching their destination as the roads had been blocked for the peace rally.

It took them four minutes and 15 seconds for them to walk from the taxi to the front of the train station, where they detonated their explosive vests, while they spent only 45 minutes in Ankara in total.

The investigation at the scene of the crime revealed there was not a third person at the bombing; it was conducted by just the two bombers and steel pellets were used to increase the bombs' destructive power. The first bomber had four kilograms of TNT kaboom on him, while the second bomber, who let 'er rip only 35 meters away from the first kaboom, had five kilograms. The two bombers were also found carrying one hand grenade each.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Council of Boskone, Helmuth ordered the entire 614th quadrant searched. The Green Lensman must be found!...
the Turkish General Staff said in a written statement that 1,199 people were caught trying to illegally cross the border from Syria into Turkey within the boundaries of the southern province of Kilis and one person was caught trying to cross into Syria from Turkey. Two of the detained suspects were reported to be members of ISIL.

In a written statement issued by the governorate office of Kilis, 25 suspected members of ISIL, including 19 foreigners, were caught during operations in the province on Oct. 21. Three of the suspects were caught while trying to enter Turkey, while the other 22 suspects were caught while trying to cross into Syria.

Sahin was reported to be incarcerated
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!

Shops torched in anti-terror protests in central Turkey were targeted: Owners
[Hurriyet] A number of local business owners of the stores torched in the Central Anatolian province of Kirsehir during nationwide anti-terror protests in early September have said the perpetrators who carried out the attacks against the shops had specified their targets in advance, daily Hurriyet has reported.

The perpetrators walked the streets of Kirsehir for about seven hours with a list of the stores they had specified to set ablaze, said Sait Akilli, a bookstore owner whose shop was one of some 32 shops, as well as the Peoples' Democratic Party's (HDP) building, set alight in Kirsehir.

"It was a deliberate act. They burned shops on the list, walking the streets. The targets were those of Kurdish origin," Akilli said. "They wanted to burn us alive. Four other people were along with me. We rushed upstairs."

Akilli said 28 residents of the apartment building right above Akilli's bookstore were stuck inside the building surrounded by flames and they were only rescued by police forces and firefighters at the last minute.

HDP Kirsehir provincial head Demet Resuloglu said there was no response from police after she reported a group was gathering in front of the party's building.

"I called the police over the phone after the group gathered [outside the HDP building in Kirsehir]. I asked them to take measures, saying there was going to be an attack [on the building], but no measures were taken," Resuloglu said.

"We thought we were going to die," said Sezai Özturk, a waiter at the Diyarbakir Dessert House, who was trapped along with four others inside the shop at the time of the attack.

Özturk said the perpetrators attacked from outside the front door.

"They smashed the front glass of the shop. We had to go downstairs to the basement. Then police came and took us out ten minutes before the perpetrators set our shop ablaze," he said, questioning how police forces were not able to prevent the torching of their shop but we able to remove Özturk and his friends alive from the attack.

AKP narrows campaign focus as polls show little chance of single rule
It couldn't happen to a more deserving group of Brownshirts.
[Hurriyet] In a bid to heighten its chances of forming a single-party government, the Justice and Development Party (AKP) has narrowed its campaign focus to 40 provinces where it hopes to increase its seat totals in the last week before the Nov. 1 snap election.

"The goal is not increasing the percentage of votes, but to increase the number of seats," said Mustafa Atas, the AKP's executive in charge of the party's organization.

As the AKP does not see a chance to form a single-party government according to recent surveys, the party will push for specific provinces. "If necessary we'll transport those who want to vote but [are] outside of their provinces at that moment," Atas stated.

group (ISIS) and are awaiting permits to enter the Kurdistan region, a Kurdish commander told Rudaw on Friday.

"Over the last 10 days, 256 families and 173 people have surrendered to Peshmerga forces on Kirkuk's western borders," said Kemal Kirkuki, the Peshmerga commander of the western front.

He added that they are being held at the borderline between Peshmerga and ISIS forces, and that they are undergoing a vetting process.

"They have not been allowed to come into the cities of the Kurdistan region." he added. "Some members of ISIS were placed in durance vile
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
among [the people) and it's suspected that there might be more ISIS among them," Kirkuki said.

He added that the refugees are being helped by the Peshmerga, who are supplying them with food, and that this would continue until there is a change in the situation.

Thousands of people have fled to Peshmerga-controlled areas from parts of Kirkuk and Salahadin province, since a massive ISIS assault in Iraq more than a year ago.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Abbas and the mysterious multi-billion-dollar fund
[Ynet] Paleostinian president may be seen by Israel as a weak and irrelevant leader, but he holds a huge amount of power through his control of Paleostinian National Fund, which has been financing PLO and PA's battle against Israel's international legitimacy.

Israelis tend to see Paleostinian President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
as a weak and dull leader who has lost his control and influence over the Paleostinian street, and is therefore no longer relevant.

Report: Israel breached Iran airspace in 2012 in what US thought was dry run for strike
[IsraelTimes] Wall Street Journal traces collapse of trust between Obama and Netanyahu over Iran, says US refused to sell materiel for strike, hid secret Tehran talks but Israel wasn't fooled

Israel violated Iranian airspace in 2012 in what was perceived by the US as a dry run for a strike on Iran's nuclear facilities, even as American officials concealed secret talks with Tehran, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday.

The newspaper says that the US "closely monitored Israel's military bases and eavesdropped on secret communications" during 2012, fearing that the Jewish state was planning an attack on the Fordow nuclear site.

But the 32-year-old villager from Java island quickly became disillusioned -- bored with his job making kebabs for Arab fighters, disappointed at the low pay and upset at tales of the group's brutal violence. The father-of-four eventually persuaded his commanders to let him go home, joining a growing number of disenchanted people leaving the jihadists, a trend experts say could give governments a new weapon to deter potential recruits.

Government
No, Hillary Clinton Did Not '€˜Triumph' at the Benghazi Hearing
[PJmedia] Hillary Clinton's performance at the Select Committee on Benghazi hearing yesterday has been proclaimed by some in the media as a "triumph" because she was able to keep her composure without committing any major gaffes during the day-long marathon.

Clinton did appear to be composed and well prepared for everything the Republicans on the panel threw at her, but there were a couple of extremely weird moments in which she laughed inappropriately during serious questioning. Those moments could come back to haunt her.

And there was serious damage done to her credibility on a number of fronts.

One of the more astonishing revelations to come out of the hearing is the fact that approximately 600 pleas for more security by State Department personnel in Benghazi went unheeded as the security situation there deteriorated. Not five, not ten, but 600 pleas for help ignored! That is unexcusable and a disgrace.

Clinton argued that "a number of requests" were fulfilled, but she did not explain how they were fulfilled.

Congressman Mike Pompeo (R-KS) pointed out that the number of security agents in Benghazi at the beginning of 2012 was the same as on the day of the attacks.

And at least a couple congressmen asked Clinton why Sidney Blumenthal's emails managed to make it to her inbox, but none of those security requests did. Hillary could only respond that security requests were the purview of the "security professionals" below her. She had no answer as to why the security professionals did not want to beef up security when other countries were bailing out of Benghazi.

Clinton showed a stunning degree of insensitivity when she laughed and joked about Ambassador Stevens' desperate attempt to buy security equipment for the compound from the British less than a year before his murder at the hands of terrorists.

#2  Stevens got the memo or a promise:

One person familiar with the events said Stevens might have rejected the offers [General Ham's offer of security assistance] because there was an understanding within the State Department that officials in Libya ought not to request more security, in part because of concerns about the political fallout of seeking a larger military presence in a country that was still being touted as a foreign policy success.
