Taliban’s Media Stranglehold: Reporters Barred from Covering Suicide Attacks and Targeted Killings in Badghis
[8am] As the number of suicide cases continues to rise in Badghis, local media officials and journalists have revealed that the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
in the province prohibit them from reporting on events such as suicide kabooms and assassinations.

According to an anonymous local media official in Badghis, who spoke to Haht-e Subh on Saturday, July 15, journalists are only allowed to cover events if they are accompanied by local Taliban officials.

"We are not granted permission to report on news; we are unable to publish articles on suicide cases or provide coverage of assassinations unless we obtain approval from the Taliban," the official stated.

Local Taliban officials in Badghis have yet to comment on the matter.

This is not the first instance of the Taliban imposing restrictions on media and journalists in terms of event coverage. Since reclaiming control of Afghanistan, the group has consistently suppressed media freedom and targeted journalists throughout the country.

In addition to tightening their grip on the media, the Taliban closely monitors the social media activities of ordinary citizens.

Previously, Taliban members have arrested, imprisoned, and subjected individuals to torture on charges of what they perceive as spreading negative propaganda against their group.

Taliban Halt Intersos Organization in Zabul Province, Straining Healthcare Support
For totalitarians everywhere, it’s as Mussolini said, “All within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state.” Besides, the Prophet Mohammed [Bees Pee Upon Him] didn’t have health care, so why should modern Afghans?
[8am] Local sources in Zabul report that the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
have prohibited the activities of Intersos, a humanitarian aid organization (HAO), due to its refusal to employ individuals designated by the Taliban in the province.

Sources informed Hasht-e Subh that the group sealed off the premises of Intersos, which operates in the healthcare sector, on Saturday, July 15.

The Taliban’s Public Health Directorate in Zabul has not commented on the suspension of Intersos in Qalat, the picturesque provincial capital.

However,
there's more than one way to stuff a chicken...
an anonymous source from the organization stated that after Intersos declined to employ individuals designated by the Taliban, the Taliban authorities locked the premises.

This is the second time that Intersos activities have been halted in Zabul after officials of the organization refused to employ Taliban-designated individuals.

Meanwhile,
...back at the alley, Slats grabbed for his rosco...
earlier reports from Daykundi province stated that fifteen aid organizations have ceased operations in the province for several months due to Taliban intervention and extortion.

Police Destroy Poppy on 40,000 Acres of Land in Afghanistan’s Badakhshan
Getting international points while using up stored surpluses, which will drive up the price going forward. The Taliban used to do this the first time around, so we’ve seen their pattern.
[KhaamaPress] Poppy cultivation had been eradicated from 40,000 acres of land in the northern province of Badakhshan, Afghanistan, in the past three months.

Shafiqullah Hafizi, the director of the counter-narcotics police department in the province of Badakhshan in northern Afghanistan, reported that during the past three months, poppy had been eradicated from 40,000 acres of land.

"The poppy eradication campaign started three months ago, and so far, we have destroyed 40,000 acres of poppy, and the process will continue until the poppy fields are completely demolished in the province," Hafizi said.

The official said the anti-poppy campaign would be over within a few days.

On Wednesday, police in the Jawzjan province of northern Afghanistan dismantled a drug processing lab and detained its owner. Last week, authorities also destroyed 20 acres of poppies in the eastern province of Ghazni.

Earlier, the Iranian permanent representative to the UN, Saeed Iravani, said that the UNSC expressed the expansion of drug production in Afghanistan.

According to Iran’s representative to the UN, drug trafficking in Afghanistan has not been completely abolished, and the illicit trade still thrives there. According to Sharq Daily, Mr Iravani also highlighted concerns about the growth of methamphetamine testing facilities in Afghanistan.

On Eve of Muharram, Residents Complain of Restrictions
[ToloNews] On the eve of the month of Muharram, several mourners in Kabul expressed concerns with the Islamic Emirate's restrictions on some of their activities.

The Islamic Emirate's security agencies have verbally ordered that raising flags, placing refreshment stands by the side of the road, and touring the city in convoys are all banned, according to the mourners.

They asked the Islamic Emirate officials to remove these restrictions.

"We ask the government of the Islamic Emirate to join us in mourning the great-grandson of the Messenger of Allah," said Abdullah, a resident of Kabul.
Oh. This isn’t about Moslems, this is about Shiites. Of course they mustn’t be allowed to celebrate publicly, lest they think themselves equal to real Moslems.
"They said that in the west of Kabul out of the 20 Takiakhanas, they should hold the mourning ceremony in two Takiakhanas in order to ensure security and that everyone should come to these two Takiakhanas," said Sayed Hashem, a resident of Kabul.

However,
ars longa, vita brevis...
the Kabul Security Command's spokesperson, Khalid Zadran, said that in order to ensure the mourners' safety, they're required to mourn in the Takiakhana (the place where mourning ceremony is held).

Zadran announced the creation of a joint committee of security institutions to ensure the security of the Muharram mourners.

"Nothing has been talked about with us so far about lowering the number of Takiakhanas. If something happens, we'll let you know about it. There are some limitations, such as keeping their ceremonies in the Takiakhanas and not going to the market," Zadran noted.

The Ministry of Vice and Virtue said that these restrictions have nothing to do with religious issues.

"There is now religious freedom in Afghanistan. There are Sikhs and Hindus who are non-Moslems and have religious freedom. Those who are Moslem, whether Shiite or Sunni, there is no problem for them," said Akif Mahajir, the front man.

This comes as the Ashura ceremony is held every year with special security measures in Kabul and some provinces of the country.

Afghanistan: 2 more media outlets shut operations amid economic loss, restrictions on media in Balkh
[ANInews] A radio station and a TV channel in the Balkh province of Afghanistan have stopped broadcast operations due to economic challenges and existing restrictions on media in the province, the officials of the two media outlets said, TOLONews reported.

On May 3, on World Press Freedom Day, some media-supporting organizations said that more than 300 media outlets have shut down in Afghanistan in the past two years and that over 5,000 journalists have lost their jobs.

Nehad radio station had been operating for 16 years and Paikan TV channel had been broadcasting for around five years.

Officials said that with the closing of these media outlets, at least 25 people have become jobless.

"Lack of beneficial support by the media-supporting organizations caused 25 (media workers), including 18 men and 7 women, to become jobless, they were working in these two media outlets," said Sayed Mohammad Yazdan, director of Nehad station.

The director of Paikan TV Channel, Fardin Abdi, also criticized the lack of support by the media-supporting organizations.

"Throughout this period, unfortunately, there has been no serious support by the media-defending organizations or other organizations. We have asked for help many times but we have not received the response which we expected," he said.

This comes as Afghanistan’s Journalist Safety Committee for the northern zone said that they were unable to address the economic challenges of these two media outlets.

"We have made efforts, but unfortunately we have not been able to address the economic challenges of these two media outlets and they were thus closed," said Abdul Latif Sahak, head of the Afghanistan Journalist Safety Committee.

However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...
the head of the Department of Information and Culture of Balkh, Ata Mohammad Saho, said that they have not imposed "any restriction on the operation of media."

"Many media organizations have halted their operations due to economic challenges. The Department of Information and Culture has not imposed any restriction in this regard, and we have always attempted to bring facilities for the media and help them with their broadcasts," he said.

289 children died in Mediterranean crossings this year
[Dawn] Some 289 children are known to have died in the first half of 2023 while trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea to Europe, the United Nations

said on Friday.

The figure is double that recorded in the first six months of 2022, the UN children’s agency Unicef said, as it called for expanded safe, legal and accessible pathways for children to seek protection in Europe.

Verena Knaus, a Unicef official, said the true figures were likely to be higher as many shipwrecks on the central Mediterranean leave no survivors or go unrecorded. "These deaths are absolutely preventable."

Knaus said that in the first six months of 2023, an estimated 11,600 children made the crossing.

STRANDED MIGRANTS COLONISTS
Tunisian rights groups called on Friday called emergency aid and shelters for migrants colonists expelled from Sfax last week, as dozens of people protested in Tunis in support of their plight.

Hundreds of migrants colonists fled or were forced out of Tunisia’s second-largest city after racial tensions flared following the July 3 killing of a Tunisian man in an altercation between locals and migrants colonists.

The port of Sfax is a departure point for many migrants colonists from impoverished and violence-torn countries seeking a better life in Europa

by making a perilous Mediterranean crossing, often in makeshift boats.

Hundreds of migrants colonists were forcibly taken to desert and hostile areas bordering Libya and Algeria after the unrest in Sfax.

Romdane Ben Amor, spokesperson for the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights, told news hounds on Friday that between 100 and 150 migrants colonists, including women and kiddies, were still stuck on the border with Libya.

He said some 165 migrants colonists abandoned near the border with Algeria had been picked up, without specifying by whom or where they were taken.

"Moslem colonists Migrants are transferred from one place to another while other groups hide out in the wild in catastrophic conditions for fear of being detected and suffering the same fate as those stranded on the borders," Ben Amor said.

He called for emergency accommodation to be given to the migrants colonists and said the authorities must send "a clear message" to Tunisian citizens to help them, regardless of their status.

Around 100 protesters demonstrated on Friday evening in Tunis at the call of an anti-fascist

coalition, expressing their "solidarity with undocumented migrants colonists".

The demonstrators also slammed Tunisia’s police for "expelling you (migrants colonists) and repressing us".

"Tunisia is African. No to racism, down with fascism

"Around 300 have been arrested... just because of their skin colour," said Eric Tchata, who posted online a video taken by a fellow Cameroonian purporting to show a group of people, including women and kiddies, packed into a warehouse in Medenine, also south of Sfax.

Bipartisan Bill Reintroduced To Allow Afghans To Apply For Permanent Legal Status In The US
[KhaamaPress] The Afghan Adjustment Act (AAA) has been re-introduced in both chambers of the 118th Congress, which believes that the legislation would meet urgent needs across the country for those evacuated from Afghanistan nearly two years ago.

According to Blumenauer, the act will allow Afghans to apply for permanent legal residency.

Afghans who have entered on a temporary humanitarian basis can only get permanent legal status through the asylum system or Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) procedure, both of which have lengthy waiting lists and processing timeframes.

The statement added that as they establish their lives in the United States, allowing our Afghan allies to seek permanent legal residency would make them feel more secure.

"Tens of thousands of Afghan allies jeopardized their lives and the lives of their families to help our country. They served as interpreters and guides that were vital to our mission, and in return, we promised to protect them. To be a friend should not be fatal," Blumenauer stated.

"The Taliban
...Arabic for students...
is back in control of Afghanistan, and they have long memories. The Afghan Adjustment Act is more critical than ever to provide a pathway to legal permanent status to protect our allies and our country—these are people with real talents who can continue to help us, the statement read.

The statement also said, "The Afghan Adjustment Act would also improve and expand the Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) process, including by broadening SIV eligibility to include groups that worked alongside American forces such as the Afghan National Army Special Operations Command and the Female Tactical Teams of Afghanistan."

The Afghan Adjustment Act passed in the wake of the humanitarian crisis would include the following:

  • Allow Afghans on humanitarian status who submit to additional vetting–including an in-person interview–to apply for permanent legal status. For these Afghans, the primary options under current law to gain permanent status are through our asylum system or the burdensome SIV process;

  • Expand the SIV program to include previously omitted groups, including the Female Tactical Teams of Afghanistan, the Afghan National Army Special Operations Command, the Afghan Air Force, and the Special Mission Wing of Afghanistan;

  • Establish a task force to develop and implement a strategy for supporting Afghans outside of the United States who are eligible for SIV status and require the Department of State to respond to congressional inquiries about SIV applications.

Pakistan Warns of Strikes on Militant Hideouts in Afghanistan
[KhaamaPress] Pakistain’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif criticized the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
administration for disregarding crucial commitments made in the Doha agreements, including its commitment to prevent the use of Afghanistan territory for terrorist activities.
No. Reeeaally?
The Defense Minister lashed out at the Taliban authorities, saying that the country was neither upholding its obligation as a neighbour nor safeguarding the peace agreement, he tweeted on Saturday.

On Friday, the Army expressed its concerns, saying Afghanistan has long been perceived as a safe haven for the outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) organization.

"The involvement of Afghan nationals in acts of terrorism in Pakistain is another important concern that needs to be addressed," the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

"Such attacks are intolerable and would elicit an effective response from the security forces of Pakistain."

Meanwhile,
...back at the alley, Slats grabbed for his rosco...
earlier, the foreign ministry of Pakistain urged Taliban authorities to keep their word and prevent the use of their territory for terrorist activities in Pakistain.

The ministry asked Afghan authorities to accept their responsibility to ensure their soil is not exploited against Pakistain.

The remarks came after the deadly attack by the hard boyz on the Pak soldiers on Wednesday, killing at least 12 soldiers and one civilian in the Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
province of the country.

Asif also said that for 40 to 50 years, Pakistain has given 5 to 6 million Afghans asylum while maintaining all their legal rights.

"On the country, the gunnies who shed the blood of Paks find refuge on Afghan soil. The ongoing situation can no longer continue. Pakistain would employ all possible resources and measures with the guidance of Allah to safeguard its territory and citizens."

The Taliban authorities have yet to be commented on the matter. Meanwhile,
...back at the alley, Slats grabbed for his rosco...
the Taliban said they have not allowed anyone to use Afghanistan territory against Pakistain.

Over the past few months, bully boy attacks have drastically increased in Balochistan and the northwesterly Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provinces, which borders Afghanistan. Since 2023 began with suicide kabooms and other attacks, more than 400 people—mostly members of the security forces—have perished due to the bloodshed.

More Than 2.5M Afghan Immigrants in Pakistan: Afghan Consul
[ToloNews] The Afghan consul in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
, Abdul Jabar Takhari, said that more than 2.5 million Afghan immigrants colonists are living in Pakistain, of whom 300,000 lack legal documents.

Takhari said that they are trying to address the challenges of Afghan immigrants colonists in Pakistain.

"The total number of immigrants colonists who have legal documents with them in Pakistain is 2,106,658," the Afghan consul in Karachi said.

In the meantime, Pakistain's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
said that his country cannot host Afghan refugees from now on.

"The humanitarian and economic crisis in Afghanistan necessitates swift international assistance to prevent the prospect of a fresh influx of millions of desperate Afghans seeking refuge from hunger and starvation. Pakistain already burdened cannot shoulder any new influx of refugees; they will have to be hosted by other members of the international community," said Aamir Khan, Deputy Permanent Representative at Pakistain Mission to the UN.

Experts on migrant rights said that in order to stop these flows, the current Afghan government should provide its people a stable way of life.

"The Islamic Emirate should provide the basis for a stable life in order to prevent these migrations," said Asefa Stanikzi, a women’s rights activist.

According to figures provided previously by the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR), there are about three million Afghans living in Pakistain, three million in Iran, and one million in other nations.
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said on Saturday that allowing the settlement of Afghan refugees in Pakistan was a grave mistake in light of the rise in terrorist activities by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) using Afghanistan territory.

“The current situation has raised significant concerns about the facilities provided to the Afghan refugees,” he said while speaking on the Express-News show Center Stage’. “Pakistan has previously suffered the consequences of sheltering and hosting Afghan refugees.”

Asif said that we were aware of the existence of safe havens for terrorists within Afghanistan and their movements.

“The PTI government made serious errors during its tenure, committing crimes against the state. Over 300,000 people have been brought here, with 500,000 Afghan migrants already present,” he said, as Express-News cited.

“What have we done in the past four years? Now we must find a solution to the Afghan refugee issue in Pakistan,” he added.

Asif pointed out that a terrorist who committed a suicide attack in the past pretended to be a patient’s attendant. These incidents are now including Afghan citizens as well, which is unacceptable.

PM Shehbaz calls for immediate reforms to steer Pakistan out of crises
[GEO.TV] Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasised the need for immediate structural reforms to steer the country out of crises saying that there is no other way but to take initiate "drastic structural and economic reforms".

Addressing the office-bearers of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and renowned businessmen and industrialists at Governor’s House in Lahore, the premier said sacrifices of all stakeholders including the business community required to deal with prevailing challenges.

PM Shehbaz said the government was taking all possible measures for the promotion of industry and agriculture. However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
in the given circumstances and in the face of grave challenges, industrialists and the business community would have to play their role even more actively for enhancing exports and stabilising the economy, he added.

Citing an example of Bangladesh textile industry, PM Shehbaz urged the business community to examine as to why Pakistain’s economy was unable to achieve the desired targets and its full potential despite having all natural resources.

Bangladesh textile sector totally relies on imported cotton, but it is developing fast and gaining a niche in the global market while Pakistain’s textile is losing competition in the export markets, the PM added.

Khawaja Asif blasts Afghanistan after surge in TTP terror attacks
[GEO.TV] Defence Minister Khawaja Asif Saturday slammed Afghanistan for not "fulfilling its neighbourly duty" and failing to abide by the Doha agreement.

Taking to Twitter, the defence minter wrote: "50/60 lakh Afghans have sought asylum in Pakistain over the last 40/50 years with all rights.

On the contrary, the bandidos forces of Evil who shed the blood of Paks have safe havens on Afghan soil."

He further wrote that the situation could not continue any longer and expressed his resolve to protect the country.

"Pakistain will use all its resources to protect its land and citizens, Insha Allah."

The defence minister's remarks came a day after the Pakistain Army expressed serious concerns about safe havens and liberty of action available to the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban
...Arabic for students...
Pakistain (TTP) in Afghanistan.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir on Friday visited Quetta Garrison, where he was briefed on the recent terrorist attack in Zhob in which nine soldiers embraced martyrdom.

Following his visit, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement it is expected that the interim Afghan government would not allow the use of its soil to perpetrate terror against any country, in the real sense and in line with commitments made in the Doha agreement.

Why is Afghanistan failing to curb terrorism?
Speaking to Geo News, Defence Analyst Lt Gen (r) Naeem Khalid Lodhi advised caution against pointing fingers towards Afghanistan.

"Instead of accusing Afghanistan directly, we should try to cooperate and figure out who is behind this and what powers are trying to create rifts between the two countries."

He added that several countries and agencies were hostile to Pakistain's closeness with Afghanistan, Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
and China.

Moreover, responding to Lodhi, another defence analyst, Brigadier (r) Haris Nawaz, said that it was obvious who did not want Pakistain to have good relations with the countries mentioned.

We know who does not want this. America and India do not want us to prosper, he said, adding: "This is why they have left their weapons there [in Afghanistan] when they left".

He further said tough decisions would have to be made to resolve the crisis facing the country.

Footprints: Back from the jaws of death OR What a failed migration looks like
[Dawn] EVER since news broke of the tragic sinking off the coast of Greece of a migrant boat carrying hundreds of Paks, the town of Khuiratta has been in constant mourning. The air hangs heavy with the sense of loss; at least 28 young men from this area were among those killed or lost at sea in the wreck.

A kilometre-and-a-half outside the main town lies the village of Bihal. Home to around 12,000 people, nearly every family in this community has at least one or two members settled abroad. This is reflected in the prosperity of the otherwise isolated settlement, and most of the houses here are nicely-built concrete affairs, located on hilly ridges.

It is here, in the Simla’n neighbourhood of Bihal, where I encounter a household that was an exception. Rather than grief, there is joy in the eyes of the family members, because the seas have returned their son, Muhammad Hassan, who reached home from Libya a couple of weeks ago, following a close call with the angel of death in the Mediterranean.

Iraq
PUK Representative: ISIS Presence Diminished in Border Areas, Improved Coordination Key
[Shafaq News] Mulla Karim Shakur, the representative of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, disclosed on Saturday the latest figures regarding the presence of ISIS elements along the borders of the Kurdistan region and the Tuz Khurmatu district in eastern Saladin Governorate.

Shakur emphasized that the ISIS movements in remote mountainous areas have been effectively neutralized, thanks to heightened coordination between army forces and the Peshmerga.

Speaking to Shafaq News agency, Shakur stated, "The activities of ISIS members in the southern part of the Tuz Khurmatu district have nearly disappeared and are now limited, thanks to pre-emptive operations and the strong coordination between the Peshmerga, the Iraqi army, and other allied formations. The same can be observed in the rugged mountainous areas situated between the outskirts of Kifri and Tuz Khurmatu districts."

According to data from the Tuz Khurmatu Operations Command and security sector officials, the number of ISIS members present in all sectors along the Tuz Khurmatu border with the Kifri district is estimated to be fewer than 80. As reported by the PUK representative, most of these individuals have been detained in remote and uninhabited areas, lacking both residents and security forces.

Shakur remarked, "The security situation along the volatile borders between Tuz Khurmatu and Kifri has significantly improved compared to previous years and is steadily progressing."

The representative stressed that the end of ISIS and its remnants in the hot spots between the Kurdistan Region and Saladin is approaching, particularly following the completion of procedures for deploying a joint coordination brigade comprising the army and Peshmerga forces in the coming phases.

Report: the transformation of Iraq's tranquility into a grave menace for a Pro-Iranian leader
“Nice little country ya got here,” said Uncle Joe Biden. “Sure would be a shame if your little friends were stupid and something bad happened.”
[Shafaq News] On 20 January, three suicide drones targeted al-Tanf, a military base in southeastern Syria hosting US forces.

The attack didn't cause significant losses: the troops there shot down two of the drones, while the third went kaboom! after colliding with a building belonging to an allied Syrian rebel group, US forces said at the time.

Two days later, an unknown gang called "the Inheritors" grabbed credit.

#1  Extensive detail but what I got from this is that Shafaq News thinks the current PM Sudani might be assassinated by US agents.

That's basically nutzoid reasoning.

#2  This sort of international conference of Islamist leaders can be traced to the late nineteen eighties when leaders of both Shia and Sunni movements met in Tehran and opened offices there. Subsequent meetings have been held sporadically. In the meeting just held it was stated, ""The meetings were routine, and the conversations all focused on the recent events in Jenin," However, this is not entirely believable. Each meeting sponsored by Iran has resulted in a change (really an imposition) of policy. This meeting perhaps is called because Iran senses weakness in the Netanyahu government and Israel itself. It may signal an increase in attacks on Israel throughout the Muslim world.

#3  That’s what PM Netanyahu is concerned about, Slavising Unineting5672, and why the IDF reservists threatening to boycott training — at the behest of the Biden administration — is so profoundly evil.

Note, however, the final two paragraphs of the article:

"All the arenas in the region, including Libya, Yemen and Leb, are heading towards settlement and appeasement. The Iranians want to be part of this settlement as part of preparation for their next front with Israel," he added.

"They do not want to open this front before the other fronts are settled, or at least calmed down. There is a change in tactics. Any unnecessary battles must stop now because the real battle is with Israel."

US said to toughen stance in Israel visa waiver talks, demanding applicants’ criminal records
The Biden administration shows its true attitude toward Israel yet again, Otherizing and dehumanizing them. Israelis have been going back and forth to America with very few problems since before the country existed — why now the sudden concern that they are all dangerous criminals?
[IsraelTimes] The United States has reportedly toughened its stance toward Israel in talks for a potential visa waiver agreement that would allow Israelis to travel to the US without a visa.

According to Channel 12 news, as part of the long-held talks, Washington has previously demanded that the criminal record of 1,000 visa waiver applicants be randomly selected and sent to American authorities, with Israel agreeing.

But a few weeks, ago, the unsourced report says, the US updated this demand to many thousands or even tens of thousands of applicants, with National Security Ministry Itamar Ben Gvir asking for clarifications on what the criminal records will be used for.

#1  No problem, just walk on in over the Texas border like all the immigrants who have been so carefully screened by the Biden administration.

Close allies like the Israeli's must be carefully screened for criminal behavior, but 3rd world flotsam and jetsom are no risk, except for the STDs, MS-13, CCP soldiers, jihadi's, Cartel recruits, Cuban and Nicaraguan spies, and the occasional Iranian demolition experts!

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
EU prolongs humanitarian exemption for additional 6 months
[NPASyria] The European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
(EU) extended on Friday the duration of humanitarian exemption to areas impacted by February earthquake in Syria for further six months until 24 Feb. 2024.

The EU Council said, in a blurb, that it extended the duration "to continue responding in a timely manner to the urgency of the humanitarian crisis in Syria, and to keep facilitating the rapid delivery of aid."

On Feb. 24, two weeks after the catastrophic earthquake that hit southern The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
and northwestern Syria, the EU decided to temporarily ease sanctions on Syria to speed up the delivery of humanitarian aid.

The purpose of exempting individuals and entities from asset freezes and related prohibitions on providing economic resources and funds is to make it easier for international organizations and specific groups involved in humanitarian activities in Syria to carry out their operations.

The Council also raised concerns about the situation in Syria, saying that the conflict is far from over and remains a source of suffering for the civilian population, and instability for the country and the region.

Pentagon official says Russia, Syria, Iran collaborating to push US out of Syria
Speak softly and carry a big stick. Or not, as the case may be.
[NPASyria] Russia, Syria, and Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
are collaborating to oust the US of Syria, said a bigwig at the Pentagon, reported Breaking Defense. He warned of "triumvirate" efforts with evidence of operational-level planning between Iran-backed Quds Force militia, Russian forces, and the Syrian government.

The Russian activity against the US in Syria has increased since March, with Russian fighter jets harassing US drones. The official pointed to the drone intercepts as a key example of the interest on both sides to push the US out of Syria. Another encounter happened with a US MQ-9 Reaper drone recently. These movements coincided with a Russian intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance flight over the American al-Tanf garrison, in south Syria.

The official characterized the drone intercept as "safe" but "unprofessional." The de-confliction line, which ensures coordination between US and Russian forces, is still actively used, and both sides continue to answer each other’s calls, despite increased tensions since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The official stated that the spike in Russian movements in recent weeks may be the next step in a gradual escalation. Generals who are in charge in Syria are often sent from Ukraine after they failed there. "So they come back, they’ve got something to prove, maybe," said the official.

The US forces are still battling sleeper cells of the Islamic State

(ISIS) in Syria. The official said that the US does not aim to ratchet up tensions but is seeking the enduring defeat of ISIS.

The US did not have assets available to immediately respond to the reconnaissance flyover, so officials verbally protested over the de-confliction line but all in vain, he said.

The official also stated that there is evidence of "collaborative planning, collaborative understanding, intelligence sharing" among the Russian, Syrian, and Iranian militias in Syria.

Despite tensions, the de-confliction line remains open between both sides, he noted.

Report: Biden Already Has ‘Unwritten' Nuclear Deal with Iran- A new ‘Iran deal’ may already be in place ‐ without Senate approval, just like the last.
I don’t think there’s any doubt of it.
Should come as absolutely no surprise to anyone following the Burg.
See also the final paragraph here.
[Breitbart] President Joe Biden has already reached an “unwritten” nuclear deal with Iran, under which the regime will stop just short of developing a nuclear weapon, leaving Israel unable to act independently to defend itself.

That’s the analysis of Amos Harel, a columnist for left-wing Israeli daily Ha’aretz — who is no fan of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but warns that the Biden White House is pushing Israel into a corner.

Last month, as Breitbart News reported, the U.S. and Iran were close to a “mini-deal” under which Iran would stop uranium enrichment at 60%, short of the 90% needed for a bomb. It would also release U.S. hostages and abide by several other conditions. In return, the U.S. would agree not to apply more sanctions, object to Iran gaining access to billions of dollars in frozen assets, or pursue further action against Iran at the United Nations.

The “mini-deal” appeared derailed when news broke that U.S. envoy Robert Malley, long suspected of being an Iran appeaser, had been suspended for alleged misuse of classified material.

But Harel says the deal is on.

He writes:

In practice, what’s shaping up looks more like an unwritten agreement of which a significant portion is already starting to be implemented. The Biden administration is declining to term it officially an agreement, not least because that would stir a negative response by the Republicans in Congress.

The U.S. initiative is based on a freeze in return for a release. Iran has committed not to enrich uranium above a level of 60 percent – that is, not to reach the 90-percent level at which nuclear arms can be manufactured. Washington, for its part, has withdrawn its opposition to the release of Iranian assets worth $20 billion in banks across several countries. Iran and Western countries will mutually release prisoners and kidnapping victims. These unofficial understandings have already taken effect, and it looks as though Iran has slowed down, if it hasn’t already stopped, enriching uranium to high levels. The compromise effort is being coordinated by Brett McGurk, the Biden administration’s National Security Council coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa.

Concurrently, the Americans sought to place Israel in a kind of bear hug. On the one hand, they are more generous when it comes to official publicity about joint military exercises, which imply joint attack capability against Iran (and it could be they are also willing to discuss this in greater detail in backrooms). On the other hand, their expectation is apparently for Israel not to take them by surprise in the form of an independent attack on Iran. More than a decade ago, the U.S. invested a major effort, both in collecting friendly intelligence and in moves that can be described as “soft influence,” to ensure that no such scenario came to pass. Since then, one basic fact has changed: The Biden administration trusts Netanyahu even less than the administration of Barack Obama did.

In that context, it appears that Biden’s recent hostility toward Israel is not primarily about judicial reform, or about objection to the right-wing members of Israel’s Cabinet — both of which are domestic political issues. Rather, Biden is isolating Netanyahu on the world stage to ensure that Israel feels more reluctant to prepare military options to prevent Iran from going nuclear, even though Israelis, left and right, want that option.

Thus the Biden administration’s support for the Israeli opposition’s protests against judicial reform — which have included refusals by military reservists, including pilots, to serve — is not so much about the issue itself, but about crippling the Israeli military and undermining Netanyahu’s legitimacy. Biden prefers the idea of a conciliatory Israeli government; if he cannot have one, he wants one that is incapable acting decisively.

Harel notes that Biden is playing a double game, placing Israel in a “bear hug” — showing affection and support in ways that actually prevent Israel from moving independently. Hence, perhaps, the formal invitation to Israeli President Isaac Herzog — a ceremonial left-wing figure — to visit the White House, while Netanyahu remains, scandalously, uninvited. A new “Iran deal” may already be in place — without Senate approval, just like the last.

This may, in fact, have been Biden’s goal all along. In 2012, during his vice presidential debate with then-Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Biden subtly shifted the goalposts. Originally, the goal had been to stop the Iranian nuclear program itself. Biden — defending the Obama administration’s approach — made the policy about stopping Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. Thus was the groundwork laid for today’s last-stop-before-a-bomb approach.

#1  When Harel notes US policy is, "...leaving Israel unable to act independently to defend itself...," he is implying that Israel's policy of self-defense (viz. Dimona) is no longer viable. That is a terrible admission to make.

#2  There is no advantage for America in this deal. It is a Pro-Iran policy. Iran cheats on every deal. Dealing with them just confirms to them that we are weak and corrupt. Eventually Iran will be smacked down by someone with more sense and courage than Biden so it does not even benefit Iran.
From an election standpoint, you can’t claim a Pro-Iranian secret deal that is semi-legal as a policy victory in an American election cycle. My guess is that these deals involve some payoffs to third party folks that will remain hidden. If I were the House Republicans, I would hold hearings and then defund the deal. Most likely, this will not happen as their donors support much that is against American interest.

#3  It's definitely about servicing the "hate Israel" wing of the dem party. And, unfortunately, there are definitely Pubs who have donors who are ready to make money on bidness with Iran if such a deal occurs, so they will happily go along too.

ISIS reveals weekly toll of attacks in Syria, Iraq, Africa, Asia
Claims to double check against ears and lips, as jihadis operate on the One, Two, Many philosophy of numbers.
[NPASyria] Yesterday on Friday, Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) revealed toll of the attacks it carried out in one week in Syria, Iraq, Africa, and Asia.

Al-Naba, an online ISIS-linked newspaper designated murderous Moslems globally, reported that the group’s Death Eaters launched an attack in areas held by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Syria, causing material damage.
Ah, but how much material damage? It’s hard to tell when so much material damage already occurred.
ISIS Death Eaters targeted the Iraqi Army in the south and Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
causing three casualties, according to the newspaper.
Three? Goodness. They’re definitely ISIS v.2.0, The Remnant.
The group killed an individual and sat fire to three military barracks in a province central Africa. In addition, an ISIS attack resulted in the killing and injury of three people.
Setting fire is easy. Burning to the ground is something else altogether. So which did this lot do?
In the state of Mozambique, the organization mentioned a single operation that resulted in six casualties and injuries.

Lately, ISIS’ activities and risk have recorded a significant increase despite the operations carried out by the US-led Global Coalition and its partner forces to defeat the group.
