Report: Fighter-jet deals could transform the ME biggest militaries for decades
[Shafaq News] For decades, Middle Eastern countries have imported advanced fighter jets in large, sometimes record-breaking, numbers.

Soddy Arabia

Afghanistan
Afghan Women Complain Of Harassment, Threats By Taliban's Morality Police
[RFERL] Women in the western Afghan city of Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
say they have been harassed and threatened by members of the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
’s notorious morality police for not wearing the hijab, or Islamic head scarf.

The complaints come a week after the Taliban deployed more members of the morality police across Afghanistan’s third-largest city, according to local residents who spoke to RFE/RL’s Radio Azadi.

Soon after seizing power in 2021, the Taliban ordered all women in public to cover their faces by wearing an all-encompassing burqa or a niqab that is common in the Arab Gulf states.

The Death Eater group said punishments, including arrest or even jail time, could be imposed on violators.

One woman, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of retribution, said she was traveling with her father by car when they were stopped by members of the morality police. She said the car was impounded and they were ordered to show up at the Ministry of Public Affairs for questioning after she was accused of not wearing a hijab.

Another woman who spoke on condition of anonymity said members of the morality police forced her out of a taxi, accusing her of improperly wearing the hijab. "The taxis don’t pick up women anymore," she said.

The morality police are overseen by the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice and enforce the Taliban’s religious edicts, including its strict dress code and gender segregation in society. During the Taliban’s first stint in power in the 1990s, the force was notorious for publicly beating offenders, including women.

The Taliban has imposed severe restrictions on women’s appearances, freedom of movement, and their right to work and education since it regained power in August 2021.

Rights campaigners have accused the hard-line Islamist group of trying to erase women from public life and imprison them in their homes.

In a new report issued on July 17, the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said the Taliban had further increased restrictions on women and girls in recent months.

UNAMA said it had "recorded instances where the de facto authorities took steps to enforce previously announced limitations on women’s freedom of movement and participation in employment."

The agency said it also "recorded instances when the [Taliban] interfered in NGOs led by women, or employing them."

Afghanistan's Shi'ite Minority Suffers 'Systematic Discrimination' Under Taliban Rule
[RFERL] When the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
seized power in 2021, Afghanistan’s Shi’ite Hazara
...a grouping of Dari-speaking people of Sino-Tibetan descent inhabiting Afghanistan and Pakistain. They are predominantly Shia Moslems and not particularly warlike, which makes them favored targets...
minority feared that the historically persecuted community would once again become the main target of Taliban atrocities.

During its first stint in power from 1996 to 2001, the Taliban terrorized the group, wresting control of Hazara regions in Afghanistan through a campaign of assassinations.

After regaining power, the Sunni murderous Moslem group tried to assuage Hazaras’ fears of discrimination and persecution. The Taliban visited Shi’a mosques in the Afghan capital and deployed its fighters to protect ceremonies marking the Shi'ite month of Muharram.

But members of the community have accused the Taliban of since backtracking on its promises to protect Shi’a and grant them the right to freely observe their faith.

Last week, the Taliban prevented Shi’a from celebrating an important religious festival. The bully boyz have also restricted the teaching of Shi'a jurisprudence in universities in Afghanistan. In February, the Taliban reportedly banned marriages between Shi’a and Sunnis in northeastern Badakhshan Province.

The Shi’ite community has accused the Taliban of failing to prevent deadly attacks on Hazaras by the rival Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
-Khorasan (IS-K) murderous Moslem group. Meanwhile,
...back at the comedy club, Boogie sadly admitted that he was a better peeping Tom than he was a comedian...
rights groups have documented the forced evictions of Hazaras by the Taliban, a predominately Pashtun group, in several provinces.

"The Taliban are becoming increasingly intolerant of public expressions and displays of the Shi’ite religious faith," said Niamatullah Ibrahimi, senior lecturer at Australia’s La Trobe University. "If it becomes a pattern, it will clearly limit the religious freedom of Shi’a, especially ceremonies that are often public in nature."

Taliban fighters prevented Shi’ite residents in Kabul from publicly celebrating Eid al-Ghadir on July 7. The festival celebrates what Shi’a believe is the day that Prophet Muhammad declared Ali, a cousin and son-in-law, his successor.

But the festival festivities with the Sunni belief that Abu Bakr, the first Moslem caliph, was the rightful successor to Prophet Muhammad. These conflicting beliefs are among the most important differences between the two main Moslem sects.

'THEY WANT TO ELIMINATE MINORITIES'
In May, the Taliban banned the teaching of the Shi’a Jafari school of jurisprudence at Bamiyan
...a place in Afghanistan that used to have some historically interesting statues of the Buddha carved into a mountainside. Then the holy men showed up and now all they have is some big holes...
University. It is not clear if the ban has been extended to all universities in Afghanistan. Most residents in the province of Bamiyan, in central Afghanistan, are Shi’a.

Nematullah, an Islamic studies student at Bamiyan University, said they have been forced to study the Sunni Hanafi school of jurisprudence that is followed by the Taliban.

"We were told that if we raise our voice, we will be taken away and tortured," the 20-year-old told RFE/RL’s Radio Azadi, adding that the Taliban ban was forcing Shi’a to give up their education or leave their homeland.

Mohammad Hassani, another student at the university, accused the Taliban of trying to "eliminate minorities and their religions by force."

Seyyed Mohammad Hossein Rizwani, a prominent scholar at the Shi'a Ulema Council of Afghanistan, told Radio Azadi that the Taliban’s ban on teaching Jafari jurisprudence contradicts "the spirit of Islamic brotherhood and national unity."

Although a census has never been conducted, Shi'a are believed to make up around 15 percent of Afghanistan's 40 million people, which is largely Sunni. Hazaras account for the overwhelming majority of Shi'a in the country.

During the 19th century, Afghan monarchs attempted to forcibly convert the Hazara, seize their lands, and bring Hazara regions in the country’s central highlands under the control of the central government, campaigns that killed thousands and forced even more to flee their homes, including many to British India. Hazaras who resettled in Kabul and other cities suffered discrimination and were often employed only in low-paying jobs.

In a significant step to address the historical grievances of the Hazaras, Afghanistan's 2004 constitution permitted Shi’a to use Jafari jurisprudence in court cases involving personal matters. The community also gained an unprecedented share in power during the Western-backed political order that emerged after the U.S.-led invasion in 2001.

ONLY THE BEGINNING?
Since regaining power in August 2021, the Taliban has mostly maintained the state’s administrative structure. But it has scrapped the 2004 constitution and laws that guaranteed freedoms and rights to Afghans, particularly to religious minorities and women.

The Taliban’s theocratic government is made up almost entirely of senior Taliban members, with no women and just a few non-Pashtuns.

"There are deep fears within the community that this could be only the beginning of systematic discrimination against the Shi’a and the representation of their understanding of Islam in the country’s laws, society, and politics," said Ibrahimi of La Trobe University.

Niala Mohammad, the director of policy and strategy at the nonprofit Moslem Public Affairs Council in Washington, said the Taliban has failed to protect Afghanistan’s Shi’ite minority from the IS-K, which has killed scores of Hazaras in attacks on schools and mosques since the Taliban takeover.

"[The Taliban] continue to harass and target those that do not adhere to their distorted view of Islam," said Mohammad, who was previously the South Asia analyst for the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom. "Particularly Shi'a Hazaras, whom they view as heretics."

She said the Taliban’s mounting restrictions on the Shi’ite minority "emboldens Shi'a persecution by other religious murderous Moslems across the region and deepens the sectarian divide."

Kenya to deport terror convict to Britain
[Garowe] Kenya is set to deport a convicted terrorist to Britannia, Daily Mail reports, with preliminary investigations showing that the accused is closely connected to the famous "White Widow" Samantha Lewthwaite,
...daughter of a British soldier who decided being a jihadi gun moll was more romantic, and mother of four. After converting to Islam as a schoolgirl, she worked her way bed by bed husband after husband up the Al Shabaab and Al Qaeda organizations. Though decidedly female, she reportedly was the key organizer of various jihadi plots in England and the Horn of Africa, and may be responsible for as many as 400 deaths. Her husbands, in order, were Germaine Lindsay, former Kenyan naval officer Abdi Wahid, Al Qaeda henchman Fahmi Jamal Salim, whose brother-in-law was al-Qaeda recruiter Musa Dheere, then Somali warlord/Al Shabaab big turban 'Sheikh Hassan' (Hassan Maalim Ibrahim), whom she deserted for Yemen only last year...
who is linked to several attacks.

Jermaine Grant, 40,
...a Jamaican-Brit convert to Islam and habitué of the notorious Brixton Mosque, he is believed to have become radicalized in the same British prison as "shoe bomber" Richard Reid, who claimed allegiance to Al Qaeda and also worshipped at Brixton Mosque. Mr. Grant then headed to Somalia to join the glorious jihad...
faces removal from Kenya after serving nine years in jail for possessing bomb-making materials and forging immigration papers. He was tried and convicted of planning attacks against hotels in the country.

The decision to release him and subsequent deportation to Britannia could raise questions about the safety of the European nation, which has been keen on fighting terror. It is not clear if Kenya has contacted London ahead of the execution of the plan.
We don’t want him, you can have him, he’s too jihad for us...
Grant was prosecuted in Kenya after police found chemicals, switches, and a bomb-making manual in a flat he shared with Lewthwaite, whose husband Germaine Lindsay was one of the four jacket wallahs who together killed 52 people in London in 2005, Daily Mail notes.
The Jamaican-born British convert to Islam went kaboom on a London Underground train on 7/7/2005.
When police swooped on the flat in 2012, Lewthwaite had fled, escaping just minutes earlier after Grant allegedly warned her with a text message, saying: ’The lions are inside. One of them is very watchful like a bird watches a stone.’ She is still on the lam.

Details in possession of the security teams indicate that Grant was born in Newham, East London. According to reports, Grant had plans to unleash terror attacks on hotels frequented by tourists in Kenya's coastal town of Mombasa. Prosecutors also linked him to al-Shabaab
...... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia attempting to metastasize into Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and similar places, all ofwhich have enough problems without them...
murderous Moslems.

A team of counter-terrorism officers from Scotland Yard flew to Kenya to assist in his prosecution. Met Detective Inspector John Reilly told Grant’s trial in 2014: ’We know that the chemicals found at Grant’s house were designed to make a bomb. We believe the gang was at the end of its preparations.’

Grant was convicted of possession of bomb-making materials but was acquitted in 2019 of ’conspiracy to commit a felony’ in relation to the terror plot. Now he faces a court in Kenya on Wednesday to decide whether he should be deported.

Prosecutor Bernard Ngiri has filed an application to kick him out of the country as an ’unwanted immigrant’ after he was released from prison on June 24. The High Court will determine his deportation and it is highly likely that the application will be granted.

Kenya is fighting terror groups mainly the al-Shabaab who have encroached on the country from neighboring Somalia. The group has heightened attacks in the Northern Frontier Districts and Lamu, leading to the delay in reopening the Kenya-Somalia border.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Human rights activists announced a new practice of accounting in Dagestan
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] Police officers in Dagestan have changed their registration tactics and now visit those registered under the pretext of a population census or demand to send photos from their place of residence, the Memorial Human Rights Center said.

The "Caucasian Kno" has reported that in March 2017, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Dagestan announced the destruction of orders on professional accounting under the category "extremist". However, human rights activists stated that the practice of accounting for believers in the republic was preserved. In March 2018, Novaya Gazeta reported that the security forces are using the measures of the abolished professional accounting, applying the law "On Investigative Activities."

In 2020, the security forces regularly carried out Friday raids near the Tangim mosque in Makhachkala. For several years, police officers brought to the departments and checked several thousand visitors to the mosque, the leadership of "Tangim" considered this a form of pressure on believers. After a number of complaints and lawsuits, the security forces stopped detaining visitors to the mosque, limiting themselves to recording their data. Such believers eventually ended up on a preventive register. Profuchet is one of the ways to prevent offenses and recurrence of crimes, according to the "Caucasian Knot" certificate "Profuchet in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation."

The Dagestan police continue to keep records, but in official responses to complaints and statements they deny its existence, while preventive work is taking "more and more sophisticated forms," the Memorial Human Rights Center said today.

"For example, police officers come to the homes of those registered under the guise of a population census or demand that people send them photographs of their places of residence," says a post on Memorial's telegram channel.

Residents of Dagestan tell the Memorial volunteers that they have been called to the police because of a possible registration with a professional registration, human rights activists said. "Most often this is due to visiting mosques that are not related to the official clergy, communicating with students of Islamic educational institutions abroad, appearance - a long beard, hijab/niqab. They take explanations from people, write down their personal data, check the contents of phones," said in the post. Earlier, as part of a professional accounting, people were regularly stopped at traffic police posts, summoned and taken to the internal affairs bodies, the report explains.

The CRHR has data that in 2023 those who visited the Tangim mosque in Makhachkala were registered, Memorial reported. "Approximately 20 men in a village in the Babayurtovsky district were put on record because of their adherence to the Salafi movement in Islam and communication with a fellow villager who studies Islam in Egypt. Residents of Makhachkala and Kaspiysk were put under control because they wear a niqab" human rights activists said.

Vazir Bazanaev and Ramazan Nazhduev also complained about the increased attention of the security forces, who, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, are not on the professional register, Memorial stressed.

Vazir Bazanaev, a resident of Chinar village, was registered in 2013 due to the fact that he visited a mosque in Derbent. The constant interest of the security forces created problems for the man, in particular, with employment. In April 2022, the Prosecutor General’s Office did not find any violations when considering a complaint about inaccurate answers from the Dagestan prosecutor’s office, in particular, about the registration of Vazir Bazanaev.

Evidence of illegal accounting, listed in the complaint, was ignored, human rights activists said. Later, on May 23, 2022, a court in Makhachkala dismissed a lawsuit filed by former FSB officer Ramazan Nazhduev against the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the issue of preventive registration. The authorities of Dagestan want to keep profuchet , but do not have the right to apply it officially in the absence of a relevant federal law, said lawyer Marina Agaltsova.

“In early June, Vazir Bazanaev told a volunteer that during his trip to Moscow for treatment at the end of May, operational officers of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Moscow began calling him. They asked about Bazanaev’s whereabouts in order to have a “preventive conversation” with him. The police also found out whether Bazanaev professes "traditional" Islam, why he was put on a professional record, what measures were taken against him by law enforcement officers, "Memorial reported.

Ramazan Nazhduev also told the HCHR volunteers that on April 24, 2023, in Dagestan, his car was stopped by PPS officers. "The police officer checked the documents and said that Nazhduev is registered as an extremist. This indicates that the base exists and that people are put on a professional record - although the Ministry of Internal Affairs denies this fact," the publication says.

Turkey not leaving Syria but open for talks with Assad: Erdogan
[Rudaw] Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
on Monday said that Ankara has not closed the door for talks with Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Lord of the Baath...
but is unwilling to leave northern Syria.

"Right now in Syria, Assad, unfortunately, wants The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
to leave northern Syria. Such a thing cannot happen," Erdogan said during a presser in Istanbul before departing on his planned Gulf tour.

Since a deadly civil war erupted in Syria in 2011, Turkey has supported rebel forces attempting to overthrow Syrian President Bashir al-Assad’s regime and maintains a heavy military presence in northern Syria that fights both the Syrian army and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), to the ire of Damascus.

"It is all about the way they approach us," Erdogan said, adding that Syria cannot request other countries inside its borders to withdraw while claiming that Turkey’s position there is to fight "terrorism" on its borders.

Turkey also justifies its presence in Syria on the grounds of its desire to repatriate around four million Syrian refugees who have resided in Turkey since the onset of the civil war. Moreover, it has launched several military operations against Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) — the backbone of the SDF and a force that Ankara views as the extension of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

Although Erdogan stated his readiness to hold talks with Assad, the latter set the withdrawal of the Ottoman Turkish army from the northern regions of the war-torn country as a prerequisite for the talks.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israel appoints first military attaché to Morocco
[IsraelTimes] Col. Sharon Itach, of Moroccan origin, selected by IDF chief as defense ties with North African nation grow.

Israel and Morocco established low-level diplomatic relations during the 1990s, following Israel’s interim peace accords with the Paleostinians, but those ties were suspended after the outbreak of the Second Intifada in 2000.

A breakthrough took place 20 years later when the Trump administration agreed to recognize Moroccan illusory sovereignty over the disputed Western Sahara region in exchange for Rabat agreeing to normalize relations with Israel. Morocco was the third country to join what was dubbed the Abraham Accords, following the leads of the UAE and Bahrain.

Despite opposition from some sectors of the Moroccan public, ties have since continued to develop.

In November 2021, then-defense minister Benny Gantz signed a memorandum of understanding with his Moroccan counterpart, the first such agreement between Israel and an Arab state.

The agreement formalized the defense ties between the two countries, allowing for smoother cooperation between their defense establishments and making it easier for Israel to sell arms to the North African kingdom.

With the signing of the MOU, the two countries’ defense ministries and militaries could more easily speak with one another and share intelligence, whereas before, such communication was only possible through their respective intelligence services.

In July 2022, then-IDF chief of staff Aviv Kohavi held a first official visit to Morocco. In February, the chief of the Israeli Air Force, Maj. Gen. Tomer Bar, also visited the African nation.

In June, the IDF sent a delegation of troops to participate in a major American-led military drill held in Morocco, a first for the Israeli army.

World Bank: Over half of Palestinians in West Bank and Gaza suffer from depression
[IsraelTimes] A study published by the World Bank on Friday reveals that over half of the Paleostinian population in the West Bank and Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
show symptoms of depression.
A symptom of self-reflection
The study, presented in Ramallah in March, indicates that 50 percent of Paleostinian residents of the West Bank and 71% of Gazooks (58% of all Paleostinians in the territories) exhibit symptoms consistent with depression. In addition, 7% of Paleostinian adults screened positive for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The data for the study, called "Paleostinian Psychological Conditions Survey (PPCS)" was collected from 5,876 respondents over the course of 2022.

At the end of 2022 the average unemployment rate for Paleostinians as a whole was 24%, with a stark disparity between the West Bank (13%) and Gaza (45%). Youth unemployment was particularly high in the strip, at nearly 70%.

The study was carried out by the World Bank in collaboration with the Paleostinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), and the German nonprofits "International Security and Development Center" (ISDC) and "Zentrum Überleben."

A more in-depth assessment of how mental health factors impact productivity and economic growth in the West Bank and Gaza is scheduled to be published in early 2024.
Because the bank of the whole world has nothing better to do.

#1  It is likely, the LSD's see 2024 is getting closer.

They see their far left agenda tide has turned and is being openly, rapidly socially, morally and legally challenged and brought to a halted in many places.

The US Voters have clearly seen the LSD's and the Special Interest Groups that the LSD's have aligned themselves with; openly making ANTI-SEMITIC statements, threats and conducting physically attacks.

So the LSD's understand the desperate need to tone its National Socialist agenda down for 2024. Due to the 4.8+ million Jewish voters, plus the still voting majority of Conservative Christians voters.

What is more interesting is why the Jewish Elected Politicians in the DC have sat quietly and allowed the LSD's to conduct its attacks on the Jewish population and Israel.

#6  The Big Hug strategy, meant to force more "intel sharing and cooperation" that hamstrings any attempt to react to the upcoming latest unwritten Iran Deal brought to you by the ValJar/Powers/Lightbringer team behind the rapidly ending Clown Show.
"Last month, as Breitbart News reported, the U.S. and Iran were close to a “mini-deal” under which Iran would stop uranium enrichment at 60%, short of the 90% needed for a bomb. It would also release U.S. hostages and abide by several other conditions. In return, the U.S. would agree not to apply more sanctions, object to Iran gaining access to billions of dollars in frozen assets, or pursue further action against Iran at the United Nations."

#8  That was yesterday. Today:

As overhaul and settlements advance, Biden agreeing to meet Netanyahu raises eyebrows

Administration was worried attention had turned to alleged snub rather than irresponsible Israeli policies, US official says, noting that no date for sit-down has actually been set.

Big Hug strategy indeed. Frank G, the invitation is to meet, not necessarily even via the back door of the White House. Possibly merely intersecting paths at the sidelines of the UN.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
How Iran establishes influence in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor - Part 2
[NPASyria] Religious men and influential figures, especially the ones turned Shiite, are considered one of the most important smooth methods of infiltration for Iran, contributing in converting the Sunni people of Deir ez-Zor to Shiite to increase and facilitate Iran’s penetration in the eastern region of Syria.

In 2017, Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
entered the western bank of the Euphrates River in Deir ez-Zor Governorate to back the Syrian government forces in the fight against the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS). They control the regions extending from the city of Deir ez-Zor to the town of Abu Kamal on the Iraqi border, in addition to seven towns east of the Euphrates River.

North Press obtained detailed information about the religious and influential figures in the community that Iran won over to infiltrate the region.

INFLUENTIAL FIGURES
In the town of Hatlah, east of Deir ez-Zor on the western bank of the Euphrates River, Yassin al-Ma’youf is in charge of a mosque for Shiites after it was turned to a Hussainiya, and a dispensary and a cultural center affiliated with the main center in the al-Qusour neighborhood in the city of Deir ez-Zor.

Al-Ma’youf is one of the first people who joined the Shiite doctrine, hence has immunity among senior decision-makers in Iran, according to sources who preferred to stay anonymous. al-Ma’youf serves the purpose of eliminating the Sunni identity of the region and disintegrating the society, and Hussein al-Reja assists him in this mission.

Samer al-Sofan, considered one of the active religious leaders, hails from the city of Herabesh in the eastern suburbs of Deir ez-Zor. He has a good relationship with the so-called Muhammad Hussein al-Reja and Hussein al-Ma’youf. He joined the Nafez Assadallah militia then he formed a brigade under the name of al-Hadi Forces to protect the Agricultural Research Center(controlled by Iranian-backed militias) in the Herabesh neighborhood.

Mullah Saleh al-Obaid, mufti of the city of Abu Kamal, is considered one of the biggest supporters of the Iranian presence in Abu Kamal and its countryside. He contributed to building a strong network of connections among religious leaders in Abu Kamal and the leaders of Iranian-backed militias. He also opened many hussainiyas in the city and used the Shiite version of Azan to call for prayer in the mosque in Abu Kamal.

Ahmad al-Taama, from the town of al-Shamitiya, is one of the most notable religious leaders in that region and has a Ph.D. in Islamic sciences from the University of Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
in Pakistain.

TURNED SHIITE
In an attempt to spread Shiite doctrine, Iran began attracting religious and tribe leaders and seducing them with money to prompt the locals to become Shiite, in addition to building hussainiyas, adding syllabuses of Shiite nature to the curriculum to attract the children’s minds and build a Shiite generation.

Nawaf Ragheb al-Bashir, Sheikh of the al-Baggara tribe, and Farhan Hamad al-Marsoumi, Sheikh of the al-Marasima tribe, are considered among those who turned to Shiism and have a major role in changing the doctrine of the region towards Shia, being the leaders of large tribes in the region who have a historical connection to the Ahl al-Bayt, or the descendants of Prophet Muhammad.

The militias want to position themselves in the tribal region, such as in cultural centers, hospitals, and schools, taking advantage of the vacuum left behind by ISIS in that region to take control and strengthen their influence and promote Shiite ideology.

The Iranian Jihad al-Bina Foundation had a key role since its Syrian branch was formed in 2018. It started infiltration through humanitarian aid under the pretext of lifting the blockade on Deir ez-Zor, then opened free medical centers and set up parks. It established four centers, two in Abu Kamal, one in al-Mayadin, and another in the village of Baqras in the east of Deir ez-Zor.

Basmat Shabaab Foundation and Women’s Nahda Foundation also supported the Jihad al-Bina Foundation in different activities.

According to sources, there are several cultural centers that were established in 2018 that contribute to attracting the local population to Shiite doctrines, such as the centers of Hatlah, al-Mayadin, Abu Kamal, and Mahkan.

Some cultural centers opened Iranian hussainiyas, five in Hatlah (Qasem Suleimani, Imam al-Baqir, Abu al-Fadhal al-Abbas, Imam al-Hussein, Imam al-Sadeq), Ahl al-Bayt hussainiya in the town of al-Sukariya in the countryside of Abu Kamal, and Qasem Suleimani hussainiya in the city of al-Mayadin.

They also opened Shiite shrines such as the Ain Ali shrine in the al-Quriya desert and the Qubat Ali shrine in the countryside of Abu Kamal, in addition to several tombs and mausoleums such as al-Ansar cemetery in the city of Deir ez-Zor.

Iran shutters education center over ‘inciting riots’
[IsraelTimes] Iranian authorities have shuttered an educational center accused of "inciting riots" during last year’s mass demonstrations triggered by the death in jug of a young woman, state media reports.

Nationwide protests rocked Iran

following the September death of a 22-year-old Iranian Kurd, Mahsa Amini, in police custody after her arrest over violating the Islamic Theocratic Republic’s strict dress code.

"We prepared and issued a warrant for the closure of Gaj center following the directive of the minister of education," state news agency IRNA quotes Ahmad Mahmoudzadeh, head of Iran’s non-governmental schools, as saying.

Mahmoudzadeh says Gaj had " incited riots" during a Persian literature exam for students, without elaborating.

Iran’s reformist newspaper Shargh daily reports that Gaj had cited excerpts from revolutionary poems by prominent dissident Farrokhi Yazdi.

Gaj center, founded in 2002, has won multiple awards over the years for its publications.
