#1  In memory MSG Tim "Griz" Martin a good friend who I worked with from 1988-1993.

To me this was just another pointless Politically PR conceived military operation, that got a good friend and several people I worked with killed.

My questions to this day.
What did being in Somalia accomplish or charge?
Are Somalians any better off today?
Are they better housed or better fed?
Did it bring peace to the area?

BTW: Is there is any truth to the rumor that parts of Aidid's body were "recovered" after his August 1996 death and are housed in North Carolina location ☺ ?

#2  Nah, this was 1993, when the deep state seized the reins and began riding us like a donkey. The purpose of war? It doesn't have a purpose. It merely needs to *exist*.

"The war is not meant to be won, it is meant to be continuous."

"The war is waged by the ruling group against its own subjects and its object is not the victory over either Eurasia or East Asia, but to keep the very structure of society intact."

#3  Months prior to the deployment of US personnel, the media was breathlessly covering the famine. I told the others in the office that they're trying to suck us into another adventure that wouldn't turn out well. It was the old William Randolph Hearst “Please remain [in Cuba]. You furnish the pictures and I’ll furnish the war.”

Caribbean-Latin America
Mexico begins busing immigrants from Guatemala to US border
[Washington Examiner] The Mexican government has begun busing immigrants in the southern part of the country north toward the United States, a move that will complicate the Biden administration's efforts to reduce illegal immigration.

Under a new Mexican government initiative, transportation from north of the Guatemala-Mexico border is being provided to immigrants to ease the demand and pressure on public and private transportation systems.

Approximately 400 immigrants waited for the government buses on Monday in the Oaxaca state in southern Mexico, according to Reuters.

The government-run busing site was opened last week in response to as many as 1,000 immigrants gathering at a station in Juchitan daily, overwhelming operations and the site.

Bus tickets range from $22 to $85 one-way, depending on the distance.

Mexico's southern border has seen thousands crossing daily, mostly headed to the U.S. and bypassing Mexico. Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said on Monday that 6,000 people were making their way across from Guatemala each day.

Thousands of immigrants have hopped on freight trains headed north to get a free ride, but trains have been suspended in the past few weeks due to accidents involving those hitching rides.

At the U.S.-Mexico border, the number of illegal immigrants arrested each day has topped 8,000 people per day during some days in September.

#1  Say nothing. Close the border. Recall all diplomatic missions and personnel. Suspend all trade and traffic to and from Mexico.

If illegal crossings persist, employ the Towed M45 (IMRS) Illegal Migrant Repelling System as pictured here.

Have a nice day amigos.

Europe
Poland, Austria, Czechs start Slovak border checks to curb migration
[AlAhram]\ Poland, the Czech Republic and Austria said Tuesday they were introducing checks on borders with Slovakia to curb illegal migration, but Bratislava called for a "European solution".

"Starting midnight, we are reintroducing border controls at the border with Slovakia," Poland's Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski told news hounds.

Working "in coordination with neighbours", Prague will follow suit, said the Czech interior ministry.

Later Tuesday, Austria's interior ministry also announced it would reintroduce checks at its eleven border posts with Slovakia before smugglers could "change their routes".

In all three countries, the checks are expected to last ten days initially.

"The number of illegal migrants colonists into the EU is beginning to grow again. We are not taking this lightly," Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said on X, formerly Twitter.

Slovakia has recently seen an uptick in migrants colonists coming largely from Serbia via Hungary.

'CASCADING EFFECT'
Following the moves by Warsaw and Prague, outgoing Slovak Prime Minister Ludovit Odor said "migration needs a European solution at the external borders."

"Once a country boosts the protection of its own border, it creates a cascading effect, we will all pay money for it, and the result will be very unclear," Odor said in a statement.

He added Slovakia would respond to its neighbours' move on Wednesday.

In the first eight months of this year, Slovakia detected approximately 24,500 migrants colonists who had entered illegally.

That was up from nearly 10,900 for all of last year and only hundreds per year before that, according to Slovak police.

The force's chief, Stefan Hamran, said the vast majority identified themselves as Syrians, who cannot be detained or deported under international rules, and that they continued on to Western Europe.

Robert Fico, whose Smer-SD party won the Slovak election on Saturday, vowed to introduce immediate checks on the Hungarian border if he becomes prime minister, as expected.

"We will need to use force to resolve the problem with migrants colonists," he said.

The Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia form the so-called Visegrad-four (V4) group of ex-communist Central European EU and NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
members.

When the migrant wave hit Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
in 2015, the V4 stood up against migrant redistribution quotas proposed by the EU, earning scorn across the bloc.

Germany said last week it would step up policing of its borders with Poland and the Czech Republic in a bid to get a grip on rising levels of illegal migration.

German Interior Ministry Nancy Faeser recently raised the possibility of fixed controls on Polish and Czech borders, a measure already in place along the boundary between Germany and Austria.

All of the said countries are members of the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
and of Europe's Schengen open-borders zone.

The reintroduction of border checks in the Schengen Area is permitted only in exceptional circumstances and must be notified to Brussels before it can be implemented.

Warsaw said it had already notified the European Commission, the EU's executive arm, about the decision.

Pak Purge:ECP moved to remove Imran's name as PTI chairman, declare party ineligible for electoral symbol
[GEO.TV] The Election Commission of Pakistain (ECP) has been moved to remove former prime minister Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who anti-establishment Pak premier, who was hounded out of office, arrested, jailed, and will likely be hung by his political opponents...
's name as Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
(PTI) chairman and declare the party ineligible for obtaining electoral symbol.

According to details available with Geo News, the electoral body will hear three separate petitions filed against the former ruling party on October 10 by Khalid Mehmood Khan and Mohammad Awn Saqlain.

Besides seeking the removal of Imran's name as party chairman in the ECP's record, Khan— in one of his petitions — has also sought the electoral body's action against PTI, alleging that the party is still receiving "prohibited funds from foreign entities".

Meanwhile,
...back at the wrecked scow, Agent 49 felt gingerly for his head. It was still there. He had been hoping differently...
another application filed by Mohammad Awn Saqlain seeks PTI to be declared ineligible for electoral symbols under Section 215(4) of the Election Rules 2017.

The ECP will also hear a case against PTI's former leader Fawad Chaudhry for making "contemptuous" remarks and "intemperate" language against the electoral body and its officials.

It is pertinent to know that at present, PTI Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan is imprisoned in Adiala jail in cipher case after the Federal Investigation Agency — in August — booked the PTI chief under the Official Secrets Act for allegedly misplacing and misusing the classified document for their vested political interests.

Separately, the electoral body has also fixed a preliminary hearing on October 10 in response to the application filed by Syed Aziz Ud Din Kaka Khel seeking the removal of biased cabinet members of the caretaker government to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections.

Pakistan terms India's occupation of IIOJK 'worst manifestation' of colonialism
[GEO.TV] Pakistain's permanent representative to the United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
(UN) Munir Akram on Tuesday described India’s occupation of Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
as the "worst manifestation of modern-day colonialism".

Speaking during the UN General Assembly’s Special Political and Decolonisation (Fourth) Committee meeting, Akram called on the world body to push for a peaceful settlement of the lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions and as per the aspirations of people of Kashmir.

Noting that since 1946, 80 former colonies have gained independence, he said that there are still people who are denied the right to self-determination, "most prominently the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Paleostine."

The right of self-determination of the Kashmiri people, the envoy said, was explicitly recognized in UNSC resolution 47 and several subsequent resolutions, which prescribed that the final disposition of the State of Jammu and Kashmir should be decided by its people through a free and fair plebiscite held under UN auspices.

These resolutions were accepted by both India and Pakistain, he said, adding that under Article 25 of the UN Charter, both parties are obliged to implement these resolutions, APP reported.

In his remarks, Akram also said that durable peace in the Middle East can only be achieved through the two-state solution and the establishment of a viable, independent and contiguous State of Paleostine, with the pre-1967 borders and al-Quds al-Sharif as its capital.

On Kashmir, he said that for 75 years, through force and fraud, India has avoided the implementation of UN resolutions, and since 1989, it’s "brutal" campaign of repression killed 100,000 Kashmiris. Since 5 August 2019, he said, India has taken "unilateral and illegal steps" to annex Indian Kashmire in what its leaders have termed as a "final solution".

"Resolution 122 (1957) of the Security Council provides that unilateral measures ’to determine the future shape and affiliation of the entire state or any part thereof, would not constitute a disposition of the state'", Ambassador Akram said, adding that consequently, all unilateral actions taken by India on and after 5 August 2019 are not only illegal, but, ipso facto, null and void."

"Kashmir today is the most densely occupied place in the world, with more than 900,000 Indian occupation troops deployed there who have perpetrated a vicious campaign of extrajudicial killings in fake encounters and so-called ’cordon and search’ operations; abduction and enforced disappearances of 13,000 young Kashmiri boys; collective punishments, destroying and burning entire villages and urban neighbourhoods," he said.

"In a classic settler-colonial project, India is seeking to convert Indian Kashmire from a Moslem-majority state to a Hindu-majority territory," the envoy said, pointing out that over 3.4 million fake domicile certificates have been issued to Hindus from across India.

Increase of 19% in Terrorist Attacks in Pakistan; Over 700 Killed in the Past Nine Months
[8am] In a chilling revelation, the Islamabad-based independent Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) disclosed that Pakistain has witnessed a devastating surge in terrorist attacks, resulting in the loss of over 700 lives, both military personnel and civilians, in the first nine months of 2023.

The report, made public on Saturday, September 30th, highlights a disconcerting 19% rise in terrorist incidents compared to the previous year. The brunt of these attacks has been borne by two provinces bordering Afghanistan, where a staggering 92% of the total casualties occurred.

According to the report, Pakistain’s security forces suffered a severe blow, losing a minimum of 386 personnel. Among them, 137 were army soldiers and 208 were coppers, constituting 36% of the total casualties. This marks the highest number of security force casualties in the past eight years.

In a somber addition to the grim statistics, the CRSS report revealed that 33 paramilitary soldiers under the command of the Mighty Pak Army also bit the dust in these attacks.

These alarming figures come in the aftermath of the most recent incident, a kaboom that shook Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
, Pakistain, on Friday, September 29th. The blast, which occurred near al-Falah Mosque in the Mastung region during the Eid Milad-un-Nabi festivities, claimed the lives of 52 individuals and left 50 others injured.
Furthermore, the responsibility for most of the attacks in Pakistan has been claimed by the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) and ISIS.
