-Great Cultural Revolution
The World Is on Fire, but Here Is the Defense Department's Highest Priority
[RedState] You would think that the Department of Defense (DoD) would have their hands full right now. The war between Russia and Ukraine drags on, war between Israel and Hamas continues, and China continues its saber-rattling over "reunification" with Taiwan. The United States might not be directly involved in all of those conflicts, but we will have some role to play. The Defense Department is concerned about terrorism. But before you get excited over the fact that there might be someone at the DoD with their priorities straight, think again. They are not worried about the thousands of potential terrorists sneaking across the southern border. They are worried about home-grown terrorists, you know, the right-wing kind.

The DoD's Office of Special Operations/Low Intensity Conflict (SO/LIC) supervises overseas special operations. Recently, they invited "all" office employees to hear Bruce Hoffman, a professor at Georgetown University and senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), and Jacob Ware, a research fellow at CFR, talk about their book entitled "God, Guns, and Terrorism" on...wait for it...domestic right-wing extremism. It gets better. The Chief of Staff for the SO/LIC Office is a woman named Ariane Tabatabai. She was recently investigated for her ties to an Iranian influence network. It gets even better. Tabatabai is also a founding member of something called the Iranian Experts Initiative. They are a group of analysts who allegedly cooperated with Iran's Islamic regime to promote the official position on Iran's nuclear program in the middle of negotiations on a nuclear deal with Iran.

It is unknown whether the invite to all SO/LIC employees was mandatory. Nor did the email explain why the topic of domestic terrorism was relevant to DoD employees, as domestic terrorism does not fall under their purview. Unfortunately for the DoD, the SO/LIC Office, and Hoffman and Ware, the supply of right-wing extremism does not meet their apparent demand. After the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, the DoD called for a review of military personnel to weed out any "extremism" within the ranks. Less than 100 members of the military were found to have engaged in any "extremist" activities. But the DoD wasn't convinced. It spent two years hunting down extremists in the military to no avail. The final report on a study that began in 2021 and was quietly released in December of 2023 “found no evidence that the number of violent extremists in the military is disproportionate” to U.S. society."

Africa North
Fatherland or death
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Text taken from a Telegram post by KorpusAfrica Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin is in italics.

[ColonelCassad] Official explanation of the reason for Burkina Faso's withdrawal from ECOWAS and the formation of the Sahel military alliance.

Dear Burkinabe people! We have just held an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, which allowed us to take important decisions on international affairs.

As you know, on January 28, Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger made the historic decision to withdraw from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). This decision was a response to the expectations, concerns and legitimate aspirations of the people of our countries who want their countries to move irreversibly towards full sovereignty. This is a carefully considered decision, which was preceded by an in-depth analysis of the organization's work and the possible consequences of its exit.

For nearly a decade, the three countries have faced criminal gangs supported, financed and equipped by their partners. And this is happening with the indifference of some neighboring countries and sub-regional organizations, including ECOWAS. This situation prompted us to create the Alliance of Sahel States on September 16, 2023.

The organization's activities quickly proved fruitful, contributing to the pooling of our human and logistics resources. This has allowed us to make significant progress on security in Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger.

We remain convinced that we must take our destiny into our own hands and distance ourselves from an organization that has become a puppet whose strings are held by the hands of the imperialists.

When ECOWAS was created in 1975, there were high hopes for it. The main objective was to promote cooperation and integration with the goal of creating an economic union in West Africa. His calling was to improve the living standards of peoples, maintain and strengthen economic stability, relations between member states, and promote the progress and development of West African countries.

Unfortunately, after 49 years of work, we sadly note that ECOWAS has deviated from its mission and radically departed from the ideals of its founding fathers and Pan-Africanism. Moreover, the organization was turned into a technocratic instrument that ultimately distanced itself from the legitimate aspirations of our peoples.

As proof of this, we all note the indifference of ECOWAS to the massacre of our valiant people, the humanitarian crisis plaguing our fellow citizens and the numerous attempts to destabilize our states. Faced with this situation, we had no choice but to take responsibility for ourselves by leaving this organization that no longer meets our expectations.

This decision has been carefully considered in all three countries, and we know that it will not be without consequences for our countries. But we stand our ground because we are convinced that, within the Sahel Alliance, we can create a viable, sustainable economic zone that listens to the true aspirations of our people.

Today, the Alliance is a union of the peoples of the Sahel, driven by the sovereign desire to become masters of their own destiny and to build a Sahelian space of peace, security, stability and shared development for all.

I call on the people of Burkina Faso, both at home and abroad, to take courage and build on the resilience they have already demonstrated. No sacrifice can be too great when our sovereignty and freedom are at stake. To neighboring countries and others, I would like to say that Burkina Faso remains committed to preserving the bonds of friendship and brotherhood that we have built over the years.

I call on all Burkinabés to remain mobilized and committed, to increase their vigilance and remain resolute in the face of any attempts to stop the ongoing process. I call on all our fellow citizens to trust the transitional authorities and refuse any actions aimed at destabilizing the situation. We are fully committed to the fight and are confident of our imminent victory.

Fatherland or death - we will win!

Resolutely take the path of fighting Western imperialism and their African puppets, as well as terrorists sponsored by Western imperialists.
There is a Russian military presence in Mali and Burkina Faso (Afrika Korps + Wagner PMC)

#1  As I see it, the only ones who ever tried to really help Africa was Israel. Israeli experts tried to teach Africans modern agriculture - so they'll be able to feed themselves (most Africa troubles are due to ever present fear of starvation). African leaders preferred petrodollars in their numbered Swiss accounts.

Shipping giant CMA CGM halts transit through Red Sea amid repeated Houthi attacks
[IsraelTimes] Shipping group CMA CGM suspends until further notice all crossings by its vessels of the Bab al-Mandab Strait in and out of the Red Sea due to security risks, a source familiar with the matter says.

The decision is taken after the latest attacks on vessels by the Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...

, including the targeting this week of a convoy that included CMA CGM-operated ships, the source says.

Fifth Column
Chicago's only Jewish lawmaker is screamed down for opposing motion to call for ceasefire in Israel-Hamas war...days after she was jeered during Holocaust Memorial Day speech
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] How many of those Jooooo-hating “pro-Palestinians” were Black Bloc/Antifa/BLM cadres protesting the last cause du jour last week, and will be howling about the next one next week?
  • Debra Silverstein was jeered and yelled by hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters at as she pleaded with colleagues not to demand a ceasefire that left Hamas in power

  • Hundreds of protesters thronged the public gallery as Democrat Mayor Brandon Johnson used his deciding vote to force the controversial measure through

  • It came just days after Chicago's only Jewish alderman was heckled on Holocaust Remembrance Day while honoring victims of the Nazi-led genocide

Hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters thronged the building and the public gallery for the knife-edge vote which saw Mayor Brandon Johnson strong-arm opponents before casting the deciding vote.

'There's not even a single mention of the dozens of raped women,' Silverstein said to heckles from the crowd, as a police officer stood close by.

'No reference to the brutal depravity that is now seared into the psyche of every Israeli and every Jewish man, woman and child.'

The resolution made Chicago the largest US city yet to demand a ceasefire in the four-month war which has cost more than 26,000 Palestinian lives, and the Democrat Mayor worked furiously behind the scenes to make it pass.

He asked two senior aldermen to stay away if they could not support it, the Chicago Sun-Times reported, and was slammed for using his casting vote to inflame tensions.

'We should not pass a resolution unless it makes clear that Hamas cannot and should not attack again,' Silverstein said.

'He had an opportunity to be a unifier, and he could have sat down with us and come up with a solution that could have potentially gotten all of us a unanimous vote, and instead he didn't.'

Illinois' governor JB Pritzker also slammed the vote in a city that is due to hold the Democrat's National Convention in August.

'I was disappointed that no consideration was given to the women who were raped by Hamas fighters who crossed over into Israel, kidnapped people, that the deaths that were caused by those terrorists were not acknowledged,' he said.

'And the City Council, if they're going to talk about the challenge of war in the Middle East, you've got to make sure you include all of the perspectives. They did not do that.'

Hundreds of anti-Israel protests have taken place in major cities since the war broke out and President Joe Biden is being repeatedly picketed at his speaking events by protesters slamming his support for the country.

Biden has been facing mounting pressure to call for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war that started on October 7 when Hamas launched a terror attack that killed some 1,200 people and took 253 hostages.

The president has privately told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he won't support Israel's war in Gaza lasting a year and is concerned both about the growing death toll in Gaza and about the impact the war is having on younger U.S. voters in the run-up to the 2024 elections.

Silverstein who has represented the city's 50th ward since 2011 is the only Jewish alderman in a city with one of the largest Jewish populations in the US.

She glared defiantly at protesters interrupting her remarks to the city chamber until they were ordered out of the public gallery and the debate continued.

But she has been repeatedly targeted and was met with howls of protest when she said the words 'never again' on Holocaust Memorial Day.

'Never Again is a statement against all forms of anti-Jewish hate,' she tweeted afterwards.

'Holocaust denial and distortion are recognized forms of antisemitism and should never have occurred at City Hall.'

Mayor Johnson defended the use of his casting vote and said the city council had already passed a resolution back in October affirming Israel's 'right and the obligation to protect its citizens against terrorism and attack by hostile foreign powers'.

'We are still making sure that our city, as a global city, that we lend our voices in matters, whether it was calling out the hideous attack against Israeli people, or whether it was calling for a ceasefire and calling for the release of the hostages,' he added.

But the Israeli consulate in the city slammed the resolution as pointless and counterproductive.

'While this resolution will have no impact in the Middle East, it will create more division among communities in Chicago and inspire more antisemitism, as we saw on the floor and in the galleries of City Hall,' it added.

#7  Yse of Force and Law Enforcement role has always been available to the National Guard. Title 32 vs Title 10. In a Title 32 federal active duty status, troops are under the command of the Governor and exempt from Posse Commitatus restrictions. All of the deployed troops were armed, I actually wrote the initial ROE (Rules of Engagement) and arming orders at the start of the deployment. In a state active duty status, National Guard troops are funded and directed as state employees, and have no federal linkages.
During the 91 L.A. riots, California National Guard troops, were initially in a Title 32 status and those troops that were were integrated with LAPD and LASD patrol units for riot control and law enforcement ops were fully armed. Their conversion to Title 10 with the arrival of federal troops severely reduced their use and LE integration.

US sanctions Iranian officials over cyber-attacks on water plants
A harshly worded sanction I hope.
[BBC] The US has imposed sanctions on six officials in Iran's powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) which it says are responsible for the cyber-attacks on American water plants late last year.

The US has said an Iranian-backed militia group is responsible for that attack.

"The deliberate targeting of critical infrastructure by Iranian cyber actors is an unconscionable and dangerous act," said Brian Nelson, Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, in the announcement.

The sanctioned individuals are part of the IRGC's Cyber-Electronic Command (IRGC-CEC), and include Hamid Reza Lashgarian, the head of the cyber organisation, and also a commander in the IRGC-Quds Force.

The Quds Force is Iran's shadowy overseas operations arm, which the US accuses of being responsible for attacks in the Middle East.

Mr Nelson added that "the United States will not tolerate such actions and will use the full range of our tools and authorities to hold the perpetrators to account".

The US Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (Cisa) calls America's water systems that residents rely on to drink clean water 'target-rich, cyber-poor'.

"It's why Cisa moves with such urgency," said the agency's executive assistant director for cyber-security, Eric Goldstein, in an interview with the BBC.

He said there could be "a hypothetical scenario where [the cyber-attacks] had life-safety impact and affected the potability of water".

Civil servants from US, EU pen anonymous letter decrying support for Israeli op in Gaza
[IsraelTimes] A group of civil servants from the United States and EU member nations releases an unsigned letter declaring their governments’ policies concerning the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza are “wrong.”
It is not the place of mere functionaries to decree government policy.
The letter, which The New York Times says has over 800
anonymous
supporters, complains that concerns the officials privately expressed “were overruled by political and ideological considerations” and they therefore “are obliged to do everything in our power on behalf of our countries and ourselves to not be complicit in one of the worst human catastrophes of this century.”

The missive goes on to accuse Israel of showing “no boundaries in its military operations in Gaza” and ignoring “all important counterterrorism expertise gained since 9/11.”
More vicious nonsense snipped.
“Develop a strategy for lasting peace that includes a secure Palestinian state and guarantees for Israel’s security, so that an attack like 7 October and an offensive on Gaza never happen again,” they add.

According to the letter, the officials that endorsed it hail from 12 different countries and EU institutions.

International-UN-NGOs
UN experts: Terrorist threat is high in Africa conflict zones and Afghanistan, and rose in Europe
[AFRICANEWS] The terrorist threat from al-Qaeda, the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group, and their affiliates remains high in conflict zones in Africa and in Afghanistan — and threat levels have risen in some regions including Europe, U.N. experts said in a new report.

The panel of experts said in the 23-page report that the relationship between Afghanistan's Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
rulers and al-Qaeda remains close, and unnamed member states report that "the high concentration of terrorist groups" in the country is undermining the security situation in the region.
Not actually a new thing since the Talibs reconquered Afghanistan. They’ve been protecting their little Friends of Al Qaeda club for years.
The greatest threat within Afghanistan still comes from the Islamic State "with its ability to project into the region and beyond," the experts said in the report to the U.N. Security Council covering the period until Dec. 16, 2023, which was circulated Wednesday.

Regionally, they pointed to a succession of attacks in neighboring Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
and Pakistain and threats in Central Asian nations.

The panel said, however, that while none of the al-Qaeda affiliated groups have recovered the capability to launch long-range operations, "they harbor global ambitions." And it said "covert and calibrated efforts to rebuild capability" have been reported.

The Islamic State group broke away from al-Qaeda over a decade ago and attracted supporters from around the world. Despite its defeat in Iraq in 2017 and in Syria two years later. The panel said the combined IS strength in the two countries is still between 3,000 and 5,000 fighters. In Iraq, they are carrying out "a low-intensity insurgency with covert terrorist cells" while in Syria attacks have intensified since November, the experts said.

The panel said the three-month delay in naming the current IS leader, Abu Hafs al-Hashemi al-Qurayshi, following the death in the fighting of his little-known predecessor "is judged indicative of internal difficulties and security challenges"

Some unnamed U.N. member nations have assessed that serious pressure from counter-terrorism operations in Syria and Iraq raises the possibility that the Islamic State could move its leadership and "center of gravity" to Africa or Afghanistan, with Africa more likely, the experts said.

In West Africa and the Sahel, the panel said, "violence and threat have escalated again" in conflict zones, raising concerns among U.N. member nations. The experts point to "a deficit in counterterrorism capabilities," which Islamic State and al-Qaeda affiliated groups are continuing to exploit.

"The situation is becoming ever more complex with the conflation of ethnic and regional disputes with the agenda and operations of these groups," they said.

In East Africa, the experts said, the Somali government is continuing its military offensive against al-Shabaab

It has an estimated 7,000 to 12,000 fighters, and an estimated $100 million annual income, mostly from illegal taxation in the capital Mogadishu, and southern Somalia, they said.

The panel said al-Qaeda has improved its media productions which appeared aimed at restoring the murderous Moslem group's credibility, attracting recruits, and filling the void over its inability to announce a new leader.

But that messaging changed after Hamas

aimed at destroying Hamas, more than 27,000 people have been killed, according to the territory's health ministry which doesn't distinguish between civilian and combatant deaths.

The experts said al-Qaeda has focused on "the sanctity" of the al-Aqsa mosque, the third holiest site in Islam which is in a compound in Jerusalem sacred to Jews and Moslems, with some communications stressing "an obligation for individuals to take action to the limits of their ability."

"Member States are concerned that it (al-Qaeda) could exploit the situation to recover relevance and tap into popular dissent about the extent of civilian casualties, providing direction to those keen to act," the panel said, and they "are concerned that the renewed narrative could inspire self-initiated attacks globally."

Across Europe, the experts said, "formal terrorist threat levels have risen ... following fatal attacks in late 2023 in La Belle France and Belgium, in addition to numerous non-lethal terrorist incidents and arrests in several European countries."

, the Belgian foreign ministry says.

Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib and Development Cooperation Minister Caroline Gennez spoke to Israeli Ambassador Idit Rosenzweig-Abu in Brussels.

"The ministers strongly condemned the bombing and destruction of the offices," the Belgian ministry says.

"The destruction of civilian infrastructure is absolutely unacceptable and does not comply with international law," it adds.

Brussels says the offices of Enabel, the Belgian development agency, had been destroyed in northern Gaza. An official told AFP it took place on Wednesday. There were no employees in the building at the time.
When there were employees in the building, how many of them were Hamasniks? Did any of them join the UNWRA and Hamas in the October 7th murder, rape, torture, and kidnap spree?
The Israel Defense Forces says it is looking into the claims.

The Foreign Ministry confirms that the ambassador was summoned, and says it is checking the matter.

Representatives from the United States, Egypt, and Qatar engaged in discussions with Israeli intelligence officials in Gay Paree last Sunday, putting forth a suggestion for a six-week ceasefire in the continued conflict in the occupied territory and a reciprocal exchange of hostages and prisoners for Hamas to assess.

"That proposal has been approved by the Israeli side and now we have an initial positive confirmation from the Hamas’ side," Majed al-Ansari told an audience at a Washington-based graduate school.

A Hamas source said, however, that there was still no consensus on the proposal.

"There is no agreement on the framework of the agreement yet... and the Qatari statement is rushed and not true," the source told AFP in Gaza.

The Qatari foreign ministry front man said there was "still a very tough road in front of us".

"We are optimistic because both sides now agreed to the premise that would lead to a next pause," said Ansari.

"We’re hopeful that in the next couple of weeks, we’ll be able to share good news about that," he added.

A Hamas source told AFP the three-stage plan would start with an initial six-week halt to the fighting that would see more aid deliveries into the Gaza Strip.

Only "women, children and sick men over 60" held by Gaza bandidos Death Eaters would be freed during that stage in exchange for Paleostinian prisoners in Israel, the source said, requesting anonymity due to the sensitivity of the talks.

There would also be "negotiations around the withdrawal of Israeli forces", with possible additional phases involving more hostage-prisoner exchanges, said the source, adding the territory’s rebuilding was also among issues addressed by the deal.

US sanctions billion-dollar oil trafficking network allegedly financing Iran’s Guards
[IsraelTimes] The US Department of Justice announces terrorism and sanctions-evasion charges and seizures linked to a billion-dollar oil trafficking network that it says finances Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

uses to engage in activities that threaten people inside the United States, as well as our interests across the world," a senior Justice Department official tells news hounds in a call before the unsealing of the charges in two federal courts.

The Justice Department seized more than $108 million that it says China Oil & Petroleum Company Limited, which it calls an IRGC front company, attempted to launder through accounts at US financial institutions. The department says more than 500,000 barrels of Iran’s sanctioned oil were also seized.

Seven defendants, including Morteza Rostam Ghasemi, who is the son of an IRGC commander and Iranian oil minister, and an Iranian shipping official are charged in connection with those seizures.

Iran’s crude exports and oil output hit new highs in 2023 despite US sanctions. In January, China’s oil trade with Iran stalled as Tehran withheld shipments and demanded higher prices from its top client, tightening cheap supply for the world’s biggest crude importer. Iranian oil makes up some 10% of China’s crude imports.

"The cases that we’re announcing are targeting players on both sides, both the supply and demand side" of sanctioned Iranian oil," the Justice Department official says.

US Treasury hits Iran with new sanctions relating to its weapons and cyber programs

[IsraelTimes] The US Treasury says it’s imposed sanctions on four Iran- and Hong Kong-based companies for providing materials and technology to Iran’s ballistic missile and drone programs and on a Hong Kong-based firm for selling Iranian commodities.

The Treasury also says it’s imposed sanctions on six officials of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp’s Cyber Electronic Command for malicious cyber activities against critical infrastructure in the United States and elsewhere.

As a result of the sanctions, all property of the designated entities and individuals that are in the United States or fall under US control are blocked. As a general rule, US individuals or companies are barred from transactions involving the property of those designated.

Iran president vows against 'bullies'
[AFRICANEWS] Iranian president Ebrahiim Raisi said on Friday (Feb. 02) that the country has no intention to start a war but that it will give a "strong response" to those who try to "bully" them.

His speech came after the U.S. said it is weighing the response to the attack to its base in Jordan where three American soldiers were killed.

The U.S. government said this week that the Islamic Resistance® in Iraq, an umbrella group of Iran-backed militias that includes the group Kataib Hezbollah, had planned, resourced and facilitated the drone attack.

"(We) will not start a war, but if a country, if a cruel force wants to bully us, the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. will give a strong response." Raisi told dozens gathering in Minab city, located in the Hormozgan province near the Strait of Hormuz.

While Biden and White House officials have stressed that they don’t want a broader war with Iran, the administration has also warned that its response to the deadly assault won’t be a "one-off."

Raisi said that previously when the US wanted to talk to Iran they "used the language of threats."

"Now, you don't hear these words. You even hear from that side: 'we have no intention of a conflict with the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran'," he added.

Earlier this week the U.S. said the response to the deadly attack in Jordan, could include striking militia leaders and targets in Syria, Yemen

and Iraq.

The deaths of the soldiers were the first U.S. fatalities blamed on Iran-backed militia groups, who for months have been intensifying their attacks on American forces in the region following the onset of the Israel-Hamas
