LTCOL BYRON OWEN: The Insane Battle for Shewan, Outnumbered, Yet Victorious, No Americans Lost
[rumble] In Today's episode Byron recounts The Battle of Shewan: August 8, 2008 Thirty Marines bravely fought back waves of Taliban fighters for over eight hours of vicious close-quarters combat, suffering hour after hour of withering enemy fire and countless volleys of RPG, mortar, and rocket fire. One by one, their crew served weapons ran dry as the battle raged on until the last remaining magazines were re-distributed, and the thirty men conducted a devastating counterattack against the numerically superior and entrenched Taliban force that collapsed their left flank and sparked a panic amongst the enemy.

These Reconnaissance Marines fought past the point of exhaustion to continue their relentless assault until the Taliban were driven from the battlefield, leaving the city littered with spent casings, scarred buildings, and the broken bodies of the enemy. No Americans were killed during the fighting.

Byron Owen started his Marine Corps career in the infantry, before transitioning to the intelligence field, then later cyber. He commanded multiple units during this time, including 1st Force Reconnaissance Company, Cyberspace Warfare Task Group 2, and 3d Radio Battalion. Byron is also the founder and editor in chief of Key Terrain Cyber, a professional journal dedicated to the study of information warfare. He is a Silver Star, Bronze Star, and triple Purple Heart recipient.
The battle was in/near Shewan village, Bala Buluk district (also spelt Bala Baluk and Bala Balouk), Farah province.

In a comment at the time, gorb wrote:

The insurgents were dug-in around Sewan.

A shout rang out," One Marine is worth 10 insurgents!"

Ten insurgents were sent over the hill; gunfire; no one returned.

A second shout, "One Marine is worth 100 insurgents!"

One hundred insurgents went over the hill; gunfire; no one returned.

A third shout, "One Marine is worth 1000 insurgents!"

A thousand insurgents went over the hill; gunfire, mortars, etc..

One wounded man crawled back to the insurgent leader, "It’s a trap! There are two Marines!"

Then he died. [I added that! :-) ]

There was an exploit that allowed hackers to regenerate session tokens for your Google accounts even after you reset your password. Google has fixed it. If you are worried, log out of your Google accounts, delete all cookies, log back in and then reset your password. Also, you should be using 2-factor authentication.

#3  The account still exists, so it still could be compromised, though maybe not with this exploit. There was no recent session so no session token to regenerate

Elmo Radicalized After Migrants Bused To Sesame Street
[BEE] SESAME STREET — With the nationwide migrant crisis continuing to make headlines and cause intense debate among lawmakers, a disturbing new report confirmed beloved local resident Elmo had been radicalized after migrants were bused to Sesame Street.

Witnesses reported noticing a marked change in Elmo's worldview over the last several weeks, as bus after bus rolled down Sesame Street before coming to a stop and opening its door to allow scores of illegal migrants to pour out into Elmo's beloved neighborhood.

"Elmo can't believe this. Elmo has had enough!" the furry red creature was heard saying as he watched yet another busload of foreign nationals arrive outside his home from the southern U.S. border. "Why are they bringing them here? This isn't right! They are committing crimes and making Sesame Street a scary, scary place to live! Elmo demands an explanation! Elmo is tired of this invasion of Elmo's country!"

Other residents also expressed concern with the repeated waves of migrant arrivals. "One thousand, three hundred, forty-five! Ah-ah-ah! One thousand, three hundred, forty-six! Ah-ah-ah!" The Count could be heard saying as he kept a running tally of the number of migrants that have arrived on Sesame Street. Though Oscar the Grouch was not in a happy mood, he did express relief that he would no longer be the only one blamed for the trash and general state of decay that would soon overtake the previously clean neighborhood.

Other local residents grew most concerned after Elmo appeared wearing a red "Make America Great Again" baseball cap. "This has pushed him over the edge," said Big Bird. "He was always a moderate before, but he's definitely been radicalized now."

At publishing time, Kermit the Frog had been detained by government agents for attempting to give a news report on the migrant crisis.

VDH: How To Ensure A Big, Ugly War With Iran
[Daily Caller] Iranian-backed militias have attacked American installations and forces in Syria, Iraq, and Jordan some 170 times.

Ostensibly, these terrorist groups claim they are hitting U.S. forces to coerce America into dropping its support of Israel and demanding a ceasefire in the Gaza war.

In reality, these satellite terrorists are being directed in a larger effort by Iran to pry the U.S. out of the Middle East, in the manner of the 1983 Marine barracks bombing.

That way, Iran will be free to fulfill its old dream of becoming a nuclear shield for a new Shiite/Persian terrorist axis from Tehran to Damascus to Beirut to the West Bank and Gaza — surrounding Israel and intimidating the Gulf regimes and more moderate states like Jordan and Egypt into concessions.

These Iranian appendages have made a number of unfortunately correct assumptions about America in general and the Biden administration in particular.

1. After the recent serial humiliations of the flight from Afghanistan, the passivity of watching a Chinese spy balloon traverse with impunity the continental United States, the mixed American signals on the eve of the Ukraine war, the troubled Pentagon’s recruitment and leadership lapses, and the destruction of the U.S. southern border, both Iran and its surrogates feel that the United States either cannot or will do much of anything in response to their aggression.

They see the U.S. military short thousands of recruits, its leadership politicized, its munition stocks depleted by arms shipments to Ukraine and Israel, and the massive abandonment of weapons in Kabul.

2. They view Joe Biden’s serial appeasement as a force multiplier of these perceptions of American weakness. After entering office, the Biden administration begged for a renewed Iran deal from a preening theocracy. It sought to ensure calm by delisting the Houthis from global terrorist designations and sending hundreds of millions of dollars to Hamas and radical Palestinians to buy good behavior.

10 myths about UNRWA you may have mistakenly believed
[Jpost] This week’s revelation about the complicity of personnel working for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in the Hamas October 7 attack on Israel is not surprising. Not to anybody who has tracked the nefariousness of this organization over recent decades.

Nor is it a surprise that over the past three months IDF troops have found Hamas weaponry in, and terror attack tunnels beneath, nearly every UNRWA institution in Gaza — schools, clinics, hospitals, and more.

No, there is no surprise here. UNRWA is rotten to its core. It validates and perpetuates the Palestinian war against Israel instead of helping to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. It is an obstacle to peace.
The 10 myths of UNRWA. Details at the link
Myth 1: UNRWA is a UN organization.

Myth 2: UNRWA is a relief organization for Palestinians.

Myth 3: UNRWA is a neutral organization.

Myth 4: UNRWA is a moderating and calming force.

Myth 5: Palestinians in Gaza truly need global funding for their most basic needs.

Myth 6: Palestinians in Gaza need UNRWA to keep them alive.

Myth 7: Without an immediate restoration of full UNRWA funding, Palestinians in Gaza will starve.

Myth 8: UNRWA is the most efficient way to deliver assistance to Palestinians.

Myth 9: UNRWA can be fixed.

Myth 10: Wartime is not the right time to shutter UNRWA.

#4  The reality is Non-Government Organizations (NGO's) have been infiltrated and overtaken by..... yes, you guessed it, governmental organizations.

Posted by: Besoeker || 02/03/2024 7:59 Comments || Top||

#5  "ban all NGOs"

Too Russian for the Americans, we dont want to emulate the Soviets. Sarcasm aside, if we want to push back against the globalist agenda, NGOs will need to be banned. NGOs do not support Americans First.
Posted by: mossomo || 02/03/2024 15:33 Comments || Top||

#6  NGOs do NOT have to say where their money comes from, nor are they required to report where it is going. A perfect venue for clandestine funding of whatever cause you may favor.

The perfect laundering vehicle. No accountability, no questions.

B1 Bombers Headed Downrange Now - Poll for Destination!
Posted on his site yesterday.
[BlackMountainAnalysis] Hello community,

It appears that American B1 Lancer bombers are currently en route to the Middle East for strike missions against militias linked to Iran. The public announcement of the bombers' departure and objectives suggests a desire by the Americans to allow Iranians time to prepare, aiming to minimize escalation.

Which locations will be targeted? Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, or a mix of these?

Larry Johnson has penned an insightful article on this topic, which can be found here: sonar21.com.

This post opens a discussion thread. Feel free to share your thoughts on the anticipated attack, potential targets, and possible consequences.

#2  Late to the party I guess. Haven’t seen anyone specify what missiles the B1s launched (125 attacks on 85 targets). Let’s presume they were JASSM AGM185s. At last count we had 2,000 of 4,900 ordered in service so that’d be ballpark 6% of inventory. They cost 1.266 million each so the missiles alone cost $158 million (not including cost per block hour for the bombers, tankers, AWACs etc.). Speedy exercise to shoot up some desert.

As info here’s a link to the cost per missile for units in the US inventory https://www.twz.com/32277/here-is-what-each-of-the-pentagons-air-launched-missiles-and-bombs-actually-cost
