FBI ESOC has identified an active spearfisching campaign
FBI Enterprise Security Operation Center (ESOC) has identified an active spearfisching campaign that is targeting US government, private sector, and personal email accounts. Be extremely cautious when reviewing all email accounts.

If you were not expecting an email, you do not recognize the sender, or you do not recognize the link in the email, do NOT click on any links or attachments.

Preliminary information indicates this campaign is extremely widespread and may be targeting a large number of users.

These emails are coming from various email addresses and are spoofing government email addresses as well as universities to make them appear more legitimite. The email subjects have included the following:

Scan from a Xerox WorkCentre PRO
Scan from a Xerox WorkCentre
FAX REPORT (Scanned from a Xerox machine)
INCOMING FAX REPORT (Scanned from a Xerox machine)
Scan from a Xerox Phaser MFP
Scanned from a Xerox Multifunction Device

The emails usually contain links to .ZIP files, in a format similar to the following:

https[:]//domain[.]com/efax/incoming/######/####.ZIP

In other words - if you don't recognize it = DELETE IT.
No Link available. Passed from a USG INFOSEC source.

Angry residents kill, burn two suspected goat thieves
[Standard Digital (Kenya)] Tired of losing their goats to criminals at night, residents of Kiratina village in Ruiru decided to form a vigilante group to beat the thieves.

And so when Wilson Kinyanjui, 75, heard an unusual movement outside his house at 2am on Sunday, he decided to come out and check what was happening.

“I found that my four goats had been taken away. I knew right away the movements were of criminals stealing the goats,” Mr Kinyanjui said.

Kinyanjui raised the alarm and the vigilante group, in conjunction with the residents, started hunting down the culprits. Within no time, three suspected criminals were rounded up with the goats inside a Nissan matatu.

Two were beaten to death before they, together with the vehicle, were set ablaze. One managed to escape. Residents said goat theft in the area has become rampant and the Government had failed to provide security.
We will allow you to escape. Now go and tell others how Kiratina village deals with goat thieves.
“In the last one month, the residents have lost more than 20 goats to criminals. The security in the area has deteriorated,” said Sam Mwai a resident.

Baahubali - India's most expensive film smashes box office records
[DAWN] MUMBAI: India's most expensive film ever, "Baahubali", is close to quickly recouping its massive $40 million-dollar budget after a record-breaking week at the box office, an industry analyst said on Friday.
It has to be better than Antman: The Motion Picture.
Way, way better than "Fantastic Four."
The epic battle movie, which has been likened to American blockbuster 300, enjoyed the biggest opening day in the history of Indian cinema, grossing 500 million rupees ($7.9 million) on July 10.
I really need one of those hats...
Remember the last time you said that...
It went on to make more than $22 million across India in its first weekend, according to Komal Nahta, the editor of Indian movie magazine "Film Information", smashing the previous record of $17 million set by "Happy New Year".
Not coming soon to a theater near you, unless you live in Mumbai.

Chad's ex-president tried in Senegal for war crimes
[AA.TR] The trial of Hissene Habre, a former Chadian president accused of committing crimes against humanity while in office, kicked off on Monday -- under heavy security -- in Senegal
... a nation of about 14 million on the west coast of Africa bordering Mauretania to the north, Mali to the east, and a pair of Guineas to the south, one of them Bissau. It is 90 percent Mohammedan and has more than 80 political parties. Its primary purpose seems to be absorbing refugees...
ese capital Dakar.

The former head of state was escorted to the courtroom by Senegalese security forces.

"He did not want to come; he was taken by force," Mouth Bane, Habre's former communications officer, said.

The former president, for his part, has condemned the trial as politically motivated.

"This isn't a trial; it's a farce!" Habre declared at Monday's court hearing, claiming he was the victim of "neocolonialism."

Several of Habre's young supporters made similar assertions outside the courthouse.

"This isn't a trial -- it's an insult to Africa, for which Senegal must take responsibility," one young Habre supporter, insisting on anonymity, said.

The court, meanwhile, was surrounded by a heavy police presence.

"Police are mobilized to ensure security inside the courtroom while security forces are deployed outside," Marcel Mendy, communications director for the Extraordinary African Chambers, said.

The Extraordinary African Chambers is a special court tasked by the Senegalese government and the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...

Poll likely to re-legitimize Burundi's Nkurunziza
[AA.TR] If Burundi's incumbent president, Pierre Nkurunziza, is reelected in Tuesday's election, he looks set to regain some of the international legitimacy that he lost as a result of the violent demonstrations sparked by his decision -- first announced in April -- to seek a third term in office.

In May, several of the country's top generals attempted -- but ultimately failed -- to lead a coup against the controversial president.

Vows by the coup leaders -- now in exile in Rwanda -- to continue to fight the Nkurunziza regime have made the situation in Burundi different from those seen in Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other...
(where President Blaise Compaore was ousted in 2014 after peaceful demonstrations) or in the Middle East (with its so-called "Arab Spring" uprisings that broke out in early 2011).

It is a frequent pattern in the East African sub-region, where unpopular regimes face exiled rebel groups that often enjoy the support of external forces.

Burundi's coup leaders recently grabbed credit for several grenade attacks that occurred in Bujumbura -- a city that only weeks ago was an epicenter of protest but which now appears more like a ghost-town.

And last Friday, the Burundian authorities also blamed the Rwanda-based opposition for an armed attack that occurred in the northern Kayanza province.

These latest developments suggest that opposition to Nkurunziza is now being led largely by the exiled coup leaders -- violently -- and that the era of peaceful anti-Nkurunziza protest is over.

Peaceful protest to violent rebellion

Nkurunziza, therefore, appears to have succeeded in replacing the image of unarmed Burundians protesting against his regime with one of exiled military leaders bent on destabilizing the country -- thereby securing the possibility of his reelection and a return to legitimacy in the eyes of the international community.

It will be difficult, therefore, for the exiled coup leaders to garner international sympathy, especially given that the country only emerged from a bloody civil war that left nearly 300,000 dead in its wake just a decade ago.

Following recent comments to a Kenyan television channel in which one of the coup leaders vowed to continue fighting the Nkurunziza regime, Nkurunziza front man Abayeho Gervais declared: "They [the coup leaders] want to plunge the country into civil war."

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Gervais added that Burundi was "on the path of peace and democracy; it doesn't have to go back [to civil war]. Our country has experienced civil war in the past... If they [the coup leaders] threaten to attack the country, security forces are standing firm."

Rwanda, for its part, which is known for supporting rebel groups in the region (most notably Congo's M23 organization), will not likely support Burundi's exiled coup leaders for fear of drawing the ire of the UN, upon which it is highly dependent for aid.

Meanwhile,
...back at the wreckage, Captain Poindexter wished he had a cup of coffee. Even instant would do...
even though the international community has criticized Nkurunziza's run for a third term in office -- which violates both the country's constitution and the 1993 Arusha peace accords -- the Nkurunziza regime, according to many observers, nevertheless remains Burundi's most viable option.

Rebels begin withdrawing weapons from front line

Rebel forces in southeastern Ukraine will complete withdrawal of most of their tanks and infantry fighting vehicles by Tuesday, according to data supplied by the Donetsk ministry of defense web page.

Three days ago, rebel officials decided to withdraw all heavy weapons from the line of contact, including armor vehicles after failing to get a written agreement from the Ukrainians to do so.

The Minsk ceasefire agreement of February 15th, mandates all heavy weapons 100mm or larger be withdrawn to the respective sides' interior lines a sufficient distance to render them useless. Both sides have since abided by the agreement, except that the rebels have continually charged the Ukrainians have mobile artillery and tanks in positions where they can be brought to bear quickly.

Rebel officials have claimed since that time that they have refused to answer the nearly constant artillery fire from Ukrainian units, especially in locales such as Gorlovka and Donetsk city. The Ukrainians have claimed that their artillery fires on rebel positions after rebel artillery fires on theirs.

According to information in the Donetsk ministry of defense website, armor vehicles will be gone from such locations as Zaitsevo, which is northwest of Gorlovka, and from where a total of five tanks and 77 IFVs have left. According to a separate item, Ukrainian forces began firing artillery on the vehicles in a road march, but no details as to casualties have been released. Those vehicles will be withdrawn a total of three kilometers, beyond the range of the vehicles' main armament, including antitank guided missiles.

In the village of Styla Starobeshevskiy, which is south of Donetsk city, a total of four IFVs were withdrawn. A total of 41 tanks and 84 IFVs are to be withdrawn throughout Donetsk. Parts of Donetsk city and areas north of Debaltsevo will continue to have armor vehicles deployed.

Both sides have tanks with a 125mm main gun. Some tanks, including the T-72M and T-72B models are capable of firing antitank guided missiles (ATGM). Both sides also have BMP-1 and BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs). The BMP-1 has a 73mm cannon as its main gun and can fire an older generation ATGM, while the BMP-2 has a 30mm autocannon, and can fire the AT-5 ATGM.

The Ukrainians, for their part, have not withdrawn any weapons from the line of contact, because, according to Ukrainian Defense official Oleksandr Turchinov, they have not received orders to do so. Ukrainian president Piotr Poroshenko is commander in chief of Ukrainian forces and must give the order to withdraw those weapons.

Turchinov was quoted in a korrespondent.net news article expressing his doubt as to the motives of rebel officials, saying, "In case of failure of Russian commitments and peaceful solutions to the crisis created by the Kremlin, we are ready to repulse military aggression."

Fighting in Donetsk

Donetsk defense officials claim Ukrainian forces have violated the ceasefire almost 100 times since last Sunday.

According to data supplied by the Donetsk ministry of defense, Ukrainian artillery hit targets in Zaitsevo, the Petrovskiy district of Donetsk and at the Donetsk airport. Ukrainian artillery also was reported in Logvinovka and Gorlovka.

According to a news account posted on tsensor.net, rebels violated the ceasefire a total of 40 times on Monday including small arms attacks in Peski and Marinka, and artillery and mortar attacks on the coke plant in Avdievka. Another report said that three civilians were killed in the rebel shelling at Avdievka.

Major-General Andrei Taran, a Ukrainian defense officials said that rebels have "threatened to wipe Avdievka from the face of the earth."

A separate report said that a rebel infantry unit attacked a Ukrainian checkpoint at Volnovakha.

Indian man accused of rape, serial murders confesses to killing 15 minors
[DAWN] A 24-year-old man accused of serial killing and rape confessed to murdering 15 children, Indian media reported.

Ravindra Kumar, who is under police custody for questioning, was locked away
Please don't kill me!
on July 15 for allegedly raping and killing a six-year-old in the city of Noida, Indian news website NDTV reported. The victim's strangled body was found in an under-construction building after her parents reported her missing a day earlier when she had got to a nearby field at night to relieve herself.

Kumar told NDTV that he was under the influence of alcohol and that if he had not been caught, he would have continued targeting minors.

According to police, Kumar's first crime took place in 2008 and the number increased over the next few years. He assaulted children by luring them with sweets and candies. He reportedly also sexually abused the corpses of his victims.

Kumar had eventually moved to Aligarh, where he abused five children, one of whom died. Subsequently in 2013, he raped two children while he was working as a labourer in Noida.

In 2014, he committed two more crimes in Samaypur Badli and one more in Begampur. He attempted to murder both children but according to police, the boy whose throat had been slit in Begumpur, survived.

"One of his victims, a six-year-old boy survived despite being drugged, sodomised, bludgeoned on the head and his throat slit. He was dumped near a gutter in Begumpur last year," Hindustan Times quoted an officer as saying.

Police added that Kumar's education was till the sixth grade and he worked as a driver and labourer. He also had a drug addiction.

When asked why he murdered his victims, Kumar told NDTV: "They made too much noise."

"If his victims began crying or shouting for help, he would close their mouths to silence them. In some cases, the children would be smothered to death but he would continue to sexually assault them," The Hindu quoted Deputy Commissioner of Police Vikramjit Singh as saying.

Kumar is reported to have targeted children of both genders. His case shocked the National Capital Region, where in 2006, bones of several young children were found in a drain in Noida. However,
there's more than one way to stuff a chicken...
domestic help worker in a nearby house Surinder Koli was sentenced to life imprisonment for the serial killings, which were referred to as "the Nithari killings", named after the area where they took place.

Fired Female Marine Commander Asks Congress For Support
[Daily Caller] A female commander is heading to Congress to make the case that she was unjustly removed for trying to motivate her all-female battalion into matching male physical fitness standards.

Both sides have different stories. According to Marine Corps officials, Marine Lt. Col. Kate Germano was removed on June 30 because of poor leadership, which included hostile and unprofessional behavior, The Hill reports.

Last June, Germano took command of the 4th Recruit Training Battalion on Parris Island in South Carolina and proceeded to work hard at improving the marksmanship of female recruits, as the failure rate for women was about three times as a high as men at the rifle range. Within a year's time, the rate of passage for females taking the initial rifle qualification test jumped to 90 percent--about the same rate as men.

#1  Male physical standards? Simply not possible. Pound for pound we have more muscle (ie we can carry that Ma Deuce where it will be needed and they can't, can climb Pointe du Hoc and they can't), bigger hearts, biiger lunfgs and our blood carri more oxigen per liter (ie we can keep running at a faster pace well after they have to stop), and greater leaps ie we can jump over that obstacle when being forced to clim or go ariund it means death.

There are women, eg a 100m World Champion who in one area can best a Marine Standards men but none who can dpo all the things I mentionned. That is pphysiologically impossible.

Women in combat roiles leads to both them and their male comrades being killed and allowing enemies to survive thus leading to further casualties.

Now the higher the American losses the more likely that just like in Vietnam, American public tires of the war against islamo-fascism and concedes defeat. Pehaps that is the goal of the whole scheme.

#8  sadly, when col germano told the truth to the female trainees about the need to achieve high physical standards, she made some trainees unhappy

Posted by: lord garth || 07/21/2015 15:17 Comments || Top||

#9  The sad thing is if they just passed 'em through at the lower standards the same folks would raise hell when a bloodbath resulted because they weren't up to Marine standards.

They need to keep the standards of what it means to be a combat Marine and if ladies want to be Marines and can't cut the physical required for combat they can work in supporting roles or as pilots or something with different physical requirements.
Posted by: rjschwarz || 07/21/2015 16:11 Comments || Top||

#10  Ok, I have tried to be nice on these threads but I am done.

One. LTC Germano is all right by me. And if I met her I would shake her hand. She is the kind of officer I respect and admire.

Two. As a mathematician, referencing the Lanchester 1 & 1/2 power law, I am a big believer in getting there firstest with the mostest. So, if a female Marine is able to accomplish 80% of a male Marine's ability, but we can get 20% more Marines on point, then we--America--are better off.

Three. 90% of the time our military is in garrison. So it doesn't matter if their fighting force is at its highest edge. God knows how many General officers Lincoln had to cashier, before he succeeded. Yet Bush failed for years with what he had. NONE of which, for Lincoln or Bush, were women. So I really tire of routine tearing down of female officers. They are OK. And if you've met them you know.

Four. America is an idea taken up by citizens, men and women, who want to perpetuate and defend it. Let them.
