Farmer denies running over jogger mom he knew with his truck, then raping and killing her
[KNEWZ] An Arkansas farmer has pleaded not guilty
"Wudn't me."
to charges that he ran down a young mom who was out jogging and then raped her and buried the body, The U.S. Sun reports.

On Thursday, Quake Lewellyn, who has won awards for his farming efforts, entered his plea to charges stemming from the death of the jogging mom, 25-year-old Sydney Sutherland, in a court in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

The 28-year-old Arkansas farmer’s plea was quite the turnabout given he had previously confessed to local authorities that he had plowed into the mom with his car when she was out jogging on August 19, and then drove her to a nearby field and raped her on his truck’s tailgate.
George Costanza defense: "was that wrong? I wasn't told"
He went on to state that after he had committed these heinous acts, he dug a grave for his victim with a shovel and buried her.

Lewellyn’s attorney, Bill James, said he was concerned people were too focused on rumors instead of allowing the trial to play out.

"Everyone is so anxious for information on this case, and it seems that whatever is being said about it is getting printed," James insisted as he sought to defend the Arkansas farmer from charges that he raped and murdered the jogging mom.

According to the results of the autopsy, Sutherland, who was a nurse, died from multiple blunt force injuries.

Evidence from security footage that the farmer’s mother turned over to Arkansas authorities is particularly damning against him as he seeks to deny in court that he ran over the jogging mom.

According The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the footage backs up the mother’s claim to police that she found a mysterious dent in her son’s truck during the period immediately preceding Sutherland’s tragic demise.

The case has been highly publicized since news broke that Sutherland had disappeared.

Two days after the mom vanished after going out jogging, her body was found. The farmer then promptly confessed to killing and raping her when questioned by Arkansas cops.

When the police searched Lewellyn’s house, they found a pair of shoes that matched the imprints at the site where Sherlocks discovered Sutherland’s buried body.

ABC 7 On Your Side reports that Lewellyn was then arrested.

Witnesses have reported that the farmer and the jogging mom attended the same small school in Arkansas.

The Newport farmer told officers during an interview that he barely knew Sutherland, authorities said. But according to an affidavit, they graduated from the same small high school in Tuckerman, which typically has less than 200 students.

The two were also once Facebook friends.

The Arkansas farmer’s wife filed for divorce last month and has been working with the police as they’ve built up a case that he mowed down the jogging mom and raped her.

It certainly doesn’t help Lewellyn’s case that the police found blood on the hood of his truck.

According to THV 11, the Arkansas farmer has waived his arraignment as he stands charged of raping and murdering the jogging mom.

Noo Yawk Siddy: Video shows the moment 8-year-old was shot while trick-or-treating
[NYPOST] New video obtained by the Post shows the moment an 8-year-old girl out trick-or-treating with her family is shot in the leg in Harlem.

The footage shows the little girl walking with her dad and sister on Lenox Avenue between West 117th Street and West 118th Street on Saturday evening. All of a sudden, people on the sidewalk scatter and the dad pushes one of the girls out of the way while the other girl falls to the ground.

The dad, who asked to remain anonymous, said Sunday that the threesome — both maiden of tender yearss in costumes — was walking to meet his wife at a CVS on the corner when he saw the gunman pull out his weapon.

"I hear shots," he said. "I pushed my youngest out of the way and then grab her but she’s yelling, ’My leg!'"

The dad, who was struck in the arm, ran into the street and grabbed a cab to a hospital. A third victim was also struck in the arm but expected to survive.

2020 Sets All-Time Gun Sales Record
[Free Beacon] With the election looming, 2020 became the all-time best year for gun sales in American history.

More than 16.5 million guns were sold through the month of October, according to a Washington Free Beacon analysis of FBI data released on Monday. That's about 1.6 million more than all of 2016—the previous record holder. It also represents four million more sales than in 2019—an increase of over 33 percent. The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the gun industry's trade group, also estimated nearly seven million people purchased a gun for the first time between January and October.

Executive Order on Establishing the President's Advisory 1776 Commission
By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, and in order to better enable a rising generation to understand the history and principles of the founding of the United States in 1776, and, through this, form a more perfect Union, it is hereby ordered as follows:

Section 1. Purpose. The American founding envisioned a political order in harmony with the design of "the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God," seeing the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as embodied in and sanctioned by natural law and its traditions.

The formation of a republic around these principles marked a clear departure from previous forms of government, securing rights through a form of government that derives its legitimate power from the consent of the governed. Throughout its national life, our Republic’s exploration of the full meaning of these principles has led it through the ratification of a Constitution, civil war, the abolition of slavery, Reconstruction, and a series of domestic crises and world conflicts. Those events establish a clear historical record of an exceptional Nation dedicated to the ideas and ideals of its founding.

Against this history, in recent years, a series of polemics grounded in poor scholarship has vilified our Founders and our founding. Despite the virtues and accomplishments of this Nation, many students are now taught in school to hate their own country, and to believe that the men and women who built it were not heroes, but rather villains. This radicalized view of American history lacks perspective, obscures virtues, twists motives, ignores or distorts facts, and magnifies flaws, resulting in the truth being concealed and history disfigured. Failing to identify, challenge, and correct this distorted perspective could fray and ultimately erase the bonds that knit our country and culture together.

The recent attacks on our founding have highlighted America’s history related to race. These one-sided and divisive accounts too often ignore or fail to properly honor and recollect the great legacy of the American national experience ‑- our country’s valiant and successful effort to shake off the curse of slavery and to use the lessons of that struggle to guide our work toward equal rights for all citizens in the present. Viewing America as an irredeemably and systemically racist country cannot account for the extraordinary role of the great heroes of the American movement against slavery and for civil rights — a great moral endeavor that, from Abraham Lincoln to Martin Luther King, Jr., was marked by religious fellowship, good will, generosity of heart, an emphasis on our shared principles, and an inclusive vision for the future.

As these heroes demonstrated, the path to a renewed and confident national unity is through a rediscovery of a shared identity rooted in our founding principles. A loss of national confidence in these principles would place rising generations in jeopardy of a crippling self-doubt that could cause them to abandon faith in the common story that binds us to one another across our differences. Without our common faith in the equal right of every individual American to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, authoritarian visions of government and society could become increasingly alluring alternatives to self-government based on the consent of the people. Thus it is necessary to provide America’s young people access to what is genuinely inspiring and unifying in our history, as well as to the lessons imparted by the American experience of overcoming great national challenges. This is what makes possible the informed and honest patriotism that is essential for a successful republic.

A restoration of American education grounded in the principles of our founding that is accurate, honest, unifying, inspiring, and ennobling must ultimately succeed at the local level. Parents and local school boards must be empowered to achieve greater choice and variety in curriculum at the State and local levels.

The role of the Federal Government is to protect and preserve State and local control over the curriculum, program of instruction, administration, and personnel of educational institutions, schools, and school systems. Indeed, that is why my Administration rejects the Common Core curriculum and all efforts to have the Federal Government impose a national curriculum or national standards in education.

Vigorous participation in local government has always been America’s laboratory of liberty and a key to what makes us exceptional. The best way to preserve the story of America’s founding principles is to live it in action by local communities reasserting control of how children receive patriotic education in their schools.

Sec. 2. The President’s Advisory 1776 Commission. (a) Within 120 days of the date of this order, the Secretary of Education shall establish in the Department of Education the President’s Advisory 1776 Commission ("the 1776 Commission") to better enable a rising generation to understand the history and principles of the founding of the United States in 1776 and to strive to form a more perfect Union.

(b) The 1776 Commission shall be composed of not more than 20 members, who shall be appointed by the President. Members shall serve for a term of 2 years and shall not be removed except for inefficiency, neglect of duty, or malfeasance. The 1776 Commission may include individuals from outside the Federal Government with relevant experience or subject-matter expertise. The 1776 Commission shall also include the following ex-officio members or such senior officials as those members may designate:

(i) the Secretary of State;

(ii) the Secretary of Defense;

(iii) the Secretary of the Interior;

(iv) the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development;

(v) the Secretary of Education;

(vi) the Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy; and

(vii) the Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Affairs.

(c) The 1776 Commission shall:

(i) produce a report for the President, within 1 year of the date of this order, which shall be publicly disseminated, regarding the core principles of the American founding and how these principles may be understood to further enjoyment of "the blessings of liberty" and to promote our striving "to form a more perfect Union." The Commission may solicit statements and contributions from intellectual and cultural figures in addition to the views of the Commission members;

(ii) advise and offer recommendations to the President and the United States Semiquincentennial Commission regarding the Federal Government’s plans to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American Independence and coordinate with relevant external stakeholders on their plans;

(iii) facilitate the development and implementation of a "Presidential 1776 Award" to recognize student knowledge of the American founding, including knowledge about the Founders, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitutional Convention, and the great soldiers and battles of the American Revolutionary War;

(iv) advise executive departments and agencies (agencies) with regard to their efforts to ensure patriotic education — meaning the presentation of the history of the American founding and foundational principles, the examination of how the United States has grown closer to those principles throughout its history, and the explanation of why commitment to America’s aspirations is beneficial and justified — is provided to the public at national parks, battlefields, monuments, museums, installations, landmarks, cemeteries, and other places important to the American Revolution and the American founding, as appropriate and consistent with applicable law;

(v) advise agencies on prioritizing the American founding in Federal grants and initiatives, including those described in section 4 of this order, and as appropriate and consistent with applicable law; and

(vi) facilitate, advise upon, and promote other activities to support public knowledge and patriotic education on the American Revolution and the American founding, as appropriate and consistent with applicable law.

(d) The 1776 Commission shall have a Chair and Vice Chair, designated by the President from among its members. An Executive Director, designated by the Secretary of Education in consultation with the Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy, shall coordinate the work of the 1776 Commission. The Chair and Vice Chair shall work with the Executive Director to convene regular meetings of the 1776 Commission, determine its agenda, and direct its work, consistent with this order.

(e) The Department of Education shall provide funding and administrative support for the 1776 Commission, to the extent permitted by law and subject to the availability of appropriations.

(f) Members of the 1776 Commission shall serve without compensation but shall be reimbursed for travel expenses, including per diem in lieu of subsistence, as authorized by law for persons serving intermittently in the Government service (5 U.S.C. 5701-5707).

(g) Insofar as the Federal Advisory Committee Act, as amended (5 U.S.C. App.), may apply to the 1776 Commission, any functions of the President under that Act, except that of reporting to the Congress, shall be performed by the Secretary of Education, in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Administrator of General Services.

(h) The 1776 Commission shall terminate 2 years from the date of this order, unless extended by the President.

Sec. 3. Celebration of Constitution Day. All relevant agencies shall monitor compliance with Title I of Division J of Public Law 108-447, which provides that "each educational institution that receives Federal funds for a fiscal year shall hold an educational program on the United States Constitution on September 17 of such year for the students served by the educational institution," including by verifying compliance with each educational institution that receives Federal funds. All relevant agencies shall take action, as appropriate, to enhance compliance with that law.

Sec. 4. Prioritize the American Founding in Available Federal Resources. The following agencies shall prioritize Federal resources, consistent with applicable law, to promote patriotic education:

(a) the Department of Education, through the American History and Civics Academies and American History and Civics Education-National Activities;

(b) the Department of Defense, through the Pilot Program on Enhanced Civics Education; and

(c) the Department of State, through the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and through opportunities in the Fulbright, U.S. Speakers, and International Visitors Leadership programs, as well as in American Spaces.

Sec. 5. General Provisions. (a) Nothing in this order shall be construed to impair or otherwise affect:

(i) the authority granted by law to an executive department or agency, or the head thereof; or

(ii) the functions of the Director of the Office of Management and Budget relating to budgetary, administrative, or legislative proposals.

(b) This order shall be implemented consistent with applicable law and subject to the availability of appropriations.

(c) This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.

VP Pence Encourages Americans To Pray, Quotes Scripture During Rally
[WIRE] Vice President Mike Pence, during a campaign rally on Monday night, encouraged Americans to pray and quoted scripture ahead of tomorrow’s election.

"And finally, this is just from me and from my family, I just, as I’ve traveled around this country the last four years, I’ve become convinced that this is a freedom loving nation and this is a nation of faith," Pence said. "And, so, if you’re inclined like the Pences are to bow the head and bend the knee at your house from time to time I’d encourage you to do that in the next day."

"And when you pray, pray with confidence In these challenging times where it seems like there’s more that divides us than anytime in my lifetime," Pence continued. "We ought to claim those ancient words that have seen Americans through much more challenging times than we could possibly imagine, the words of an ancient promise that say if his people who are called by his name, will humble themselves and pray and turn—that he’ll do like he’s always done in the long and storied history of this great nation—he’ll hear from heaven and he’ll heal this land, this one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

"So, pray for America," Pence continued. "Pray for all the American people. It will make a difference."

ORF8 Corona Mutation Explained
August 25, 2020, but it helped me understand ORF8.
[BGR] Like any virus, the novel coronavirus mutates, and teams of scientists are keeping track of various strains that are circulating right now. So far, there hasn’t been any meaningful mutation that would make the virus more lethal or compromise existing vaccine research, and that’s good news. However, there is one mutation that’s seen plenty of coverage in the past few months, the D614G strain that’s believed to be more infectious than its predecessors. Some researchers think the mutation allows the virus to hook up to cells more efficiently than before, and that’s what makes it more infectious. But not all mutations will help the SARS-CoV-2 virus. A new study has just been published in a medical journal proposing that a new coronavirus mutation actually results in a milder case of COVID-19.

Published in The Lancet (via Medical Express), the study details a coronavirus strain identified as ∆382 that doctors in Singapore studied between January and March, comparing it with other available SARS-CoV-2 strains that were circulating at the time.

The researchers explain that the ∆382 mutation involves the deletion of 382 nucleotides that appears in the open reading frame 8 region (ORF8), which is a known spot for mutations in coronaviruses. As a result, the ORF8 protein is not produced, the researchers said. During the SARS epidemic nearly 20 years ago, a deletion of 29 nucleotides in the ORF8 region resulted in a variant of the virus that was unable to replicate as efficiently as the wild-type SARS virus.

Furthermore, ∆382 patients had lower concentrations of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines that are usually associated with severe COVID-19. They also showed lower levels of growth factors associated with lung injury and regeneration, which implies their lungs were not as damaged.

The researchers note that the ∆382 groups also showed a better immune response to the virus, including more effective platelet regulation and T cell responses early in the infection. The patients also showed a more robust production of a cytokine called IFN-γ, which could explain the heightened immune response. Interestingly, the observations held true even when taking age groups and comorbidities into account. The researchers think this version of the virus triggers a reduced pro-inflammatory response and a less-damaging cytokine storm, which results in a milder COVID-19 case.

The researchers speculate that the absence of the ORF8 protein inhibits the virus’s ability to evade the immune system, but more research is needed to demonstrate these findings.
More research; there must be more research!
Even if the ∆382 mutation does cause a less severe version of COVID-19, there's no telling what one's chances are of getting infected with that milder strain instead of a more lethal version. But if the ORF8 hypothesis is correct and drugs can target the protein, doctors may be able to develop new therapies that can reduce COVID-19 complications.

#1  >here's no telling what one's chances are of getting infected with that milder strain instead of a more lethal version.

So get people infected with a known mild one...

It's quicker, cheaper and here now (and probably safer than waiting for a unknown risk vaccine).

#2  I have been posting the declining Infection to Death figures for several months. An also speaking of the multiple mutations of the C-19 since it hit the USA.

Overall stated, the infection to Death Ratio has PEAKED back on April 18th, 2020.

Despite the media telling us the last few weeks,
.."...the C-19 infections are growing each week". The CDC own data shows Infection to DEATHS continue to decline.

Figures are for the 7 days proceeding the indicated close date.
DATE ............ CLAIMED C-19 DEATHS
10/10/2020......3,778
10/17/2020......3,300
10/24/2020......1,780

Preliminary figures for the 7 day period of 10/31/2020 are 166 as the CDC waits several days for States to officially report deaths.

FOR THE LAST 7 DAYS
The CDC main Covid-19 website reports the following as of 11-03-2020 @ 0445hrs:

77,398 New Cases and 451 New Deaths.
Which works out to 0.5827023954107341 of 1% Infection to Deaths

YEAR TO DATE
INFECTION TO DEATH Totals
To be infected you must be 1 of the 2.6849% to have gotten Infected and reported, and as we are told part of the 94% with an underlying medical issues. All in order to become 1 of the 2.5089% that died from the C-19.

#5  NN2N1, thanks for the statistics. Some of us did take statistics in college; and it's refreshing to see just a little bit of perspective and facts among all the hysteria.

Florida principal fired again for his refusal to say the Holocaust happened
[IsraelTimes] After narrowly voting to reinstate him last month, Boca Raton high school revisits the decision and unanimously axes William Latson for 2018 remark following huge national backlash.

A Florida principal who told a parent he "can’t say the Holocaust is a factual, historical event" was fired Monday for the second time, with the school board reversing a decision from last month to rehire him.

William Latson made the comments to a parent in 2018 and was later removed from the Boca Raton high school where he had been principal. In October 2019, the school board voted 5-2 to fire him, citing not just the comments, but Latson’s refusal to answer questions about them.

Latson sued, saying he had been wrongfully terminated, and in August, a judge concluded that he should have been reprimanded, and not fired.

The board voted October 7 to rehire him, believing that the alternative would be to face a protracted and costly legal battle. He was given an administrative job, rather than one with students, and was to receive $152,000 in back pay, according to the Palm Beach Post.

The board was divided 4-3, with the only Jewish board member arguing strenuously against Latson’s rehiring. "If we rehire Dr. Latson, it is going be a stain on this school district that will never go away," Karen Brill said during the meeting.

An additional, final vote was postponed to hear criticism from the public. There was a strong national backlash, with the board receiving outraged comments from Holocaust survivors, their families and others, according to Sun Sentinel.

Simultaneously, the board learned that the court ruling regarding Latson’s firing had merely been a recommendation, the report said.

Those factors prompted board members Marcia Andrews, Debra Robinson, Barbara McQuinn, and Chuck Shaw to change their votes, and the motion to fire Latson once again was approved unanimously.

Palm Beach County is heavily Jewish, and Spanish River Community High School, which Latson led, has many Jewish students. In an email to a parent who asked about the school’s Holocaust education curriculum, Latson had written, "I can’t say the Holocaust is a factual, historical event because I am not in the position to do so as a school district employee. You have your thoughts, but we are a public school and not all of our parents have the same beliefs."

Palm Beach County is also the site of a primary challenge to longstanding Democratic congresswoman Lois Frankel by right-wing Republican Laura Loomer, in a matchup that has divided local Jews, and reflects deep divides in American politics.
