Chief of the New York Police Department's Equal Employment Opportunity Division accused of posting racist and anti-Semitic comments.
[IsraelNationalNews] A New York Police Department official charged with combating discrimination in the department posted hundreds of racist, anti-Semitic, misogynist, and homophobic slurs on a message board.

The New York City Council oversight division identified “Clouseau,” who posts frequently on “The Rant,” a message board where law enforcement officials vent anonymously, as Deputy Inspector James Kobel, who is the commander of the Equal Employment Opportunity Division.

The report was authored by Councilor Ritchie Torres, a Democrat who was this week elected to Congress.

Kobel denied the charge to the New York Times but has been relieved of his job pending the completion of an Internal Affairs Bureau investigation, the New York Times reported on Thursday. The IAB query has uncovered more evidence linking Kobel to the Clouseau identity, the Times said.

Clouseau referred to former President Barack Obama as a “Muslim savage” and described a Black woman who in a video was complaining about President Donald Trump as a “savage” who “reproduces little carbon copies of ‘herself/hisself’… someone please throw a gallon of bleach in the human gene pool.”

Responding to a posting of an article about Orthodox Jews wearying of being photographed by tourists, Clouseau said: “I think that eventually all of the inbreeding may lead to the demise of these clowns. The severity of birth defects will only increase. Unfortunately, the local taxpayer is going to be on the hook for the bill when the children need special programs in the local school districts and the parents continue to leach [sic] off the system.”

#1  These allegations sound very similar to ones made during Obama's administration against several officials. Very curious.

Alex Trebek Dies: Longtime Host Of ‘Jeopardy!' Was 80
[Deadline] Alex Trebek, the longtime host of television quiz show Jeopardy! who inspired millions with his brave public battle against pancreatic cancer, has died. He was 80 and died at home, according to a spokesperson.

Trebek had stage 4 pancreatic cancer, and went public about his condition in March 2019, updating fans on his condition via social media and frequent interviews.

Trebek became host of Jeopardy! upon its revival in 1984. He was under contract until 2022, and pressed on with tapings and media appearances throughout his illness, saying the interactions with the show and his fans were helping him cope.

Jeopardy! recently began Trebek’s 37th season as show host. Earlier this year, he was aboard for the show’s high-rated"Greatest of All-Time" tournament on prime-time television. The tournament was won by Ken Jennings, whom some have speculated as the host who will take over from Trebek.

Trebek-hosted episodes will air through December 25th. His last day taping in studio was October 29.

Born in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada in 1940 (he became an American citizen in 1998), Trebek also hosted such shows as The Wizard of Odds, Double Dare, High Rollers, Battlestars, Classic Concentration and To Tell The Truth. He also was an actor, frequently appearing as himself in many TV and film spots.

Trebek hosted more than 8,200 Jeopardy! episodes, setting a Guinness World Record for hosting the most episodes of a single game show. He won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host seven times, and was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He received the Order of Canada honor from his native land in 2017.

"This is an enormous loss for the Jeopardy! staff, crew and all of Alex’s millions of fans," said Mike Richards, the Jeopardy! executive producer. "He was a legend of the industry that we were all lucky to watch night after night for 37 years. Working beside him for the past year and a half as he heroically continued to host Jeopardy! was an incredible honor. His belief in the importance of the show and his willingness to push himself to perform at the highest level was the most inspiring demonstration of courage I have ever seen. His constant desire to learn, his kindness, and his professionalism will be with all of us forever."

"Today we lost a legend and a beloved member of the Sony Pictures family," said Tony Vinciquerra, Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment. "For 37 amazing years, Alex was that comforting voice, that moment of escape and entertainment at the end of a long, hard day for millions of people around the world. He was the heart and soul of Jeopardy! and he will be deeply missed by everyone who made him part of their lives. Our hearts go out to Jean, Matthew, Emily, and Nicky."

"We join our colleagues at Sony Pictures in mourning the passing of Alex Trebek," said Kenichiro Yoshida, Chairman, President and CEO, Sony Corporation. "Alex was an extraordinary talent whose intelligence, wit and comforting presence appealed to millions of people around the world and made Jeopardy! the outstanding show it is today."

Steve LoCascio, President of CBS Television Distribution, called Trebek’s death "a tremendous loss" for the Jeopardy! family.

"Not only was Alex a television icon, but he was one of the most genuine, kind, caring people you could ever know," LoCascio said. "The way he openly and bravely battled cancer, while continuing to host the show, was a true inspiration. He has brought joy to the millions of fans — including generations of families — who have welcomed Alex into their living room each night. Our hearts go out to Alex’s wife and children. We have truly lost a legend."

Trebek is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jean, and children Matthew, Emily, and Nicky. The family has announced no plans for a service, but gifts in his memory can go to World Vision, a humanitarian charity focused on aiding those in poverty.

New York State Bar Association Calls Upon State To Consider Mandating a Safe and Effective Vaccine if Voluntary Measures Fail
[NY State Bar Assoc.] The New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) is recommending that the state consider mandating a COVID-19 vaccine once a scientific consensus emerges that it is safe, effective and necessary. But before taking this significant step, the state government should conduct a public awareness campaign to urge voluntary vaccination.

NYSBA's House of Delegates today approved a resolution outlining conditions for requiring the vaccine for all New Yorkers save those exempted by doctors. It would be up to public health authorities to decide whether a vaccine mandate should apply to all residents or to a smaller population such as health care workers or students.

With the number of cases again on the rise both nationally and statewide, the association is asking the state to:

  • Ensure that vulnerable populations are treated ethically and without discrimination. This includes communities of color, older adults, nursing home residents, people with disabilities, prisoners and immigrants. New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and Attorney General Letitia James and two national civil rights organizations have criticized the federal government's plan to distribute the vaccine through pharmacies. They say the plan falls woefully short of meeting the needs of communities of color that were disproportionately harmed by the pandemic.

  • Enact a state emergency health powers act and crisis standards of care addressing gaps in existing law. This is essential to a well-coordinated response to the pandemic, increasing the capacity of the system if there's a surge in cases. It would also clarify the legal authority and ethical standards for making decisions if there are shortages of anything from personal protective equipment to trained health care workers.

  • Release older prisoners and those with disabilities and serious illnesses who do not pose a danger to the community

  • Eliminate restrictions on the provision of care by telehealth and increase reimbursement for such services

"The magnitude of the COVID-19 pandemic is unprecedented over the last 100 years by any measure – the number of lives lost, the survivors who remain seriously ill, the risks faced by health care workers, the disproportionate impact on communities of color, the profound trauma and the disruption to our economy," said NYSBA President Scott M. Karson. "The United States was unprepared to deal with this pandemic. We need to take these actions to be sure we are ready should there be a rise in New York's caseload during the cold, winter months."

"In balancing the protection of the public's health and civil liberties, the Public Health Law recognizes that a person's health can and does affect others," said Mary Beth Morrissey, chair of the Health Law Section's Task Force on COVID-19, which proposed the resolutions approved by the House of Delegates today.

"The authority of the state to respond to a public health crisis is well-established in constitutional law. It may become necessary to require that certain individuals or communities be vaccinated, such as health care workers and students, to protect the public's health," said Morrissey, a research fellow at Fordham University's Global Health Care Innovation Management Center and a faculty member in the graduate schools.

Trump's Approval Rating at 52%
[NewsMax] President Donald Trump’s approval numbers edged up to 52% on Monday, just eight days before Election Day, according to the daily poll released by Rasmussen Reports.

Forty-six percent disapproved of the job Trump is doing as president.

The president’s approval numbers have not been higher since they hit 53% for one day just over a month ago on Sept. 18, a figure that was previously last matched on April 9, 2019.

Rasmussen Reports has generally reported higher approval numbers for Trump than most of the major surveys, which do not conduct their polls on a daily basis.

The Rasmussen poll, which included 1,500 likely voters, used an online survey tool to interview randomly selected participants from a demographically diverse panel. The margin of sampling error is +/- 2.5 percentage points with a 95% confidence level.

Funny how the Dems/Biden say he has a national mandate but he barely won over 50% of the vote. So, Joey & Co. are going to poop on roughly half of the nation? Well, yes, if they have their way.

Trump quietly fires three agency heads amid presidential vote count
[NYPost] The Trump administration fired the heads of three federal agencies after the election, prompting one to claim he was retaliated against for disagreeing with some policy.

The heads of the agencies that oversee the nuclear weapons stockpile, electricity and natural gas regulation and overseas aid were sent packing, NPR reported.

The sudden departures included Lisa Gordon-Hagerty, administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration, who was forced to resign Friday. She was the first woman to oversee the agency in charge of the nuclear stockpile. Last year, she was on the president’s short list as a possible replacement for former National Security Adviser John Bolton.

Bonnie Glick, was replaced by the acting administrator John Barsa, and Neil Chatterjee, chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and a former aide to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, were also sacked.

Chatterjee, who will stay as an agency commissioner, said in an interview with the Washington Examiner that "perhaps" the Trump administration was retaliating against him. President Trump is a skeptic of climate change and has looked to the FERC to help implement a pro-fossil fuel agenda.

"I have obviously been out there promoting a conservative, market-based approach to carbon mitigation and sending signals the commission is open to considering a carbon price, and perhaps that led to this," Chatterjee said. "Quite frankly, if, in fact, this was retribution for my independence, I am quite proud of that."

The White House declined comment on the firings, and did not say whether there would be more in the wake of the election.

The Republican chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Sen. Jim Inhofe issued a statement criticizing Trump’s Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette, who he said "effectively demanded" the resignation of Gordon-Hagerty.

Inhofe called Gordon-Hagerty "an exemplary public servant and remarkable leader" and said Brouillette’s decision "during this time of uncertainty demonstrates he doesn’t know what he’s doing in national security matters and shows a complete lack of respect for the semi-autonomous nature of NNSA."
