Pfizer to Pay $2.3 Billion for Fraudulent Marketing
[DoJ] WASHINGTON — American pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc. and its subsidiary Pharmacia & Upjohn Company Inc. (hereinafter together "Pfizer") have agreed to pay $2.3 billion, the largest health care fraud settlement in the history of the Department of Justice, to resolve criminal and civil liability arising from the illegal promotion of certain pharmaceutical products, the Justice Department announced today.

Pharmacia & Upjohn Company has agreed to plead guilty to a felony violation of the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act for misbranding Bextra with the intent to defraud or mislead. Bextra is an anti-inflammatory drug that Pfizer pulled from the market in 2005. Under the provisions of the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, a company must specify the intended uses of a product in its new drug application to FDA. Once approved, the drug may not be marketed or promoted for so-called "off-label" uses — i.e., any use not specified in an application and approved by FDA. Pfizer promoted the sale of Bextra for several uses and dosages that the FDA specifically declined to approve due to safety concerns. The company will pay a criminal fine of $1.195 billion, the largest criminal fine ever imposed in the United States for any matter. Pharmacia & Upjohn will also forfeit $105 million, for a total criminal resolution of $1.3 billion.

Massive Peer-Reviewed Mask Study Shows 'Little To No Difference' In Preventing COVID, Flu Infection
[ZERO] A massive international research collaboration that analyzed several dozen rigorous studies focusing on "physical interventions" against COVID-19 and influenza found that they provide little to no protection against infection or illness rates.

Of course, even Tony Science said masks were not effective. Trump's Surgeon General said the same, all until they suddenly prevented the contraction and transmission of covid. I wonder if the FTC should have been more involved. Anybody buy a package of N95 masks where it said on the box that the mask prevented the contraction and transmission of the Fauci Flu and all other airborne viruses?

World Temp for lower Troposphere dives to negative anomoly
Link goes to Dr Roy Spencer's graph

The world average for the lower troposphere (based on satellite based measurement) has been dropping for the past few months and is now at a -0.04C anomaly from the long term average. I'm not sure how Spenser defines the LT but I think it is the lower 3000' or so).

We have been in a relatively strong La Nina for several years now and it might go lower in Feb 2023.

Of course, eventually there will be another El Nino which will likely bring the global temp up.

FLEETS #26: The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force today
Click on the link to see a graphic showing Japanese naval surface vessels.
[NavalAnalyses] Following Japan's defeat in World War II, the Imperial Japanese Navy was dissolved by the Potsdam Declaration acceptance. Japan's 1947 Constitution was drawn up after the conclusion of the war, Article 9 specifying that "The Japanese people forever renounce war as a sovereign right of the nation and the threat or use of force as a means of settling international disputes."

The prevalent view in Japan is that this article allows for military forces to be kept for the purposes of self-defense. In 1954, the JMSDF was formally created as the naval branch of the Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF), following the passage of the 1954 Self-Defense Forces Law. The first ships in the JMSDF were former U.S. Navy destroyers, transferred to Japanese control in 1954. In 1956, the JMSDF received its first domestically produced destroyer since World War II, Harukaze.

You can read more about The evolution of Japanese destroyers after WWII. This FLEETS post is devoted exclusively to the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force today, one of the most powerful navies on the planet. The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (海上自衛隊 Kaijō Jieitai), JMSDF, also referred to as the Japanese Navy, is tasked with the naval defense of Japan. The JMSDF has a fleet of about 154 ships and 346 aircraft and consists of approximately 45,800 personnel.

The first graph (G #1) includes all the carriers, submarines, destroyers, frigates, missile boats and naval aviation (ASW/SAR/MPA/ELINT) that will be in active service by February 2023 (UPDATED). The.. "offensive" force if I may say. Note that Japan is currently converting both 248-meter Izumo-class helicopter destroyers into real light aircraft carriers capable of operating the F-35B STOVL fighters!

On August 31, 2022, the Japan Ministry of Defense announced that JMSDF will operate two massive 20,000-ton "Aegis system equipped ships" to replace the earlier plan of Aegis Ashore installations, commissioning one by the end of fiscal year 2027, and the other by the end of FY2028. According to the Defense Buildup Program that was published on December 16, 2022 the JMSDF will increase the number of Aegis-equipped guided-missile destroyers (DDG) from the current eight to ten, as well as two Aegis system-equipped vessels (ASEV) to be deployed in ballistic missile defense (BMD) operations. Therefore by the end of the decade, the JMSDF will operate 12 ships equipped with Aegis Weapon System (AWS) and likewise plans to replace its fleet of older, less capable destroyers and destroyer escorts with Mogami-class frigates.

A second graph (#2) will be added in this post, with all the replenishment ships (5 ships), mine countermeasure vessels (25 vessels), landing craft (9 craft), training ships (8 ships) and other auxiliaries.

US farmers sound alarm on single-most catastrophic thing headed for corn crops-Another Gift from Mexico
[FoxBusinessNews] Corn farmers visit DC warning they could go out of business over Mexico's genetically modified corn ban.

A regulatory move within Mexico’s agricultural sector has U.S. farmers concerned it will "corn-er" their corn crop production.

"Most farmers, my generation and younger, have never even used conventional corn. We're not set up to do it. We don't have the equipment to do it," Hinkel Farms' Elizabeth Hinkel told FOX Business’ Madison Alworth on "Mornings with Maria" on Tuesday. "So it would be a huge investment if we had to go back to growing conventional. And on top of that, our yields would be decreased."

American farmers are headed to Capitol Hill to voice concerns about Mexico’s proposed ban on U.S. imports of genetically modified corn, reportedly warning the move could become the most catastrophic thing to happen to corn farmers.

Mexico represents America’s biggest buyer of corn, purchasing more than $10 billion worth of yellow and white U.S. corn last season alone.
Let em starve and pay Big $$ for their own corn. They'll learn. Eventually.
"Even though here in Pennsylvania, our corn stays fairly local, our price is still determined by the board," Hinkel explained. "So if that price goes down, it's going to affect farmers all over the United States, no matter where their corn is being sold."

Farmers remain husky about Mexico’s GMO ban as they fear it’ll hit their bottom line.

"I just can't even picture in my mind what this is going to do," Hinkel said. "It's farmers from one end of the United States to the other. It doesn't matter where you sell it or what it's used for, it's going to have an effect."

With the ban set to take effect in 2024, Mexico has claimed that the regulation would help increase its own domestic production. Last week, U.S. trade representative Jayme White met with Mexico’s Under Secretary of Economy for Foreign Trade Alejandro Encinas to further discuss the GMO decision and the countries’ future relations.

Following the meeting, the USDA released this statement: "Mexico's proposed approach, which is not grounded in science, still threatens to disrupt billions of dollars in bilateral agricultural trade, cause serious economic harm to U.S. farmers and Mexican livestock producers, and stifle important innovations needed to help producers respond to pressing climate and food security challenges."

A fifth-generation Nebraska corn farmer, who mainly grows white corn for Mexican consumption, noted he wouldn’t switch to growing non-GMO corn due to environmental and financial consequences.

"Our destinies are tied together. They need us as much as we need them," Nebraska Corn Growers Association Chairman Andy Jobman also told Alworth on Tuesday. "And so we really need to come to the table and just resolve this issue and allow GMO corn to continue going into Mexico."

As Mexico prepares for the potential ban, the country, in the meantime, has passed regulation that discourages exports, including a 50% tariff on any white corn leaving the nation.

#8  The time the US made more corn go into ethanol, Mexico had a huge price surge in maize products and there were shortages. I don't see this going very far in Mexico as there will be food riots if they cut off all US corn.

The US business will just find other markets and if Mexico waits long enough to revoke this, there will be no extra food for them.

Government Corruption
Biden's new appointee to Intelligence Advisory Board suffered ‘acute mental health crisis' and was unable ‘to get out of bed'
[American Thinker] Is it wise public policy to appoint someone like this to an ultra-sensitive intelligence advisory board? The apparent motives behind this move are as questionable as the appointment itself.

Joe Biden’s handlers are attempting to sell the public on the absurd notion that, as he reportedly said yesterday, global warming "is the single most existential threat to humanity we have ever faced, including nuclear weapons." There is no scientific proof at all that CO2 controls the climate, only flawed models of the admittedly far more complex climate that do not work to predict what actually happened, when retroactively applied to data from the past.

Meanwhile, the US is escalating the conflict in Ukraine by supplying more sophisticated weapons, risking nuclear retaliation by Russia, followed by escalation into nuclear Armageddon. Even the lefty Union of Concerned Scientists is alarmed to the point of advancing its doomsday clock closer to midnight than it ever has been.

The desire to sell climate hysteria and distract from reckless warmongering may have something to do with the appointment of a woman to his Intelligence Advisory Board, who, in my opinion, already is hysterical on the subject of climate, so much so that she has been unable to handle ordinary life functions by her own confession, something that is part of the definition of mental illness, colloquially known as being a head case.

Collin Anderson reports for the Free Beacon:
Biden on Thursday tapped Brown University climate scientist Kim Cobb to serve on the President's Intelligence Advisory Board, the White House announced in a press release. While past presidents have used the board to probe high-profile national security threats and intelligence failures, it's unclear whether Cobb will be able to stomach such sensitive and unsettling information.

That's because the mere news of Trump's upset win in 2016 sent Cobb into "an acute mental health crisis" that for weeks saw her unable to "get out of bed, despite having four children to tend to," the climate scientist told Mother Jones in 2019. "I could not see a way forward," Cobb recalled at the time. "My most resounding thought was, how could my country do this? I had to face the fact that there was a veritable tidal wave of people who don't care about climate change and who put personal interest above the body of scientific information I had contributed to."

Professor Cobb (Twitter via the Free Beacon)

I am not a psychiatrist, but being unable to care for her 4 children sounds like a severe mental breakdown, one that had serious potential risks to the welfare of the children. That this was occasioned by election news that she didn’t like raises grave questions about her ability to handle information that she finds stressful. I suspect that members of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board see highly disturbing information. What if Professor Cobb learns of a threat greater than the presidency of Donald Trump? Will she be able to function? Will she be able to protect classified information?

Given the unfolding scandal of Biden’s mishandling of classified material, appointing someone with self-reported mental issues seems an unwise risk.
