Vlad is not the only idiot who doesn't realize that Muslims are our common enemy. Western leaders are every bit as guilty of that if not more so.
I have no illusions about the guy. He obviously has the instincts of a dictator. He reminds me of the juvenile delinquent who whips out a switchblade thinking it will impress the other school boys. But they're not impressed. They think he's an idiot. That's because he is an idiot. But I'm not all that impressed with Hollande, Merkel, Cameron and Obama either.
He's a little more aggressive in places like the Ukraine than we'd like. He probably sees the antics of Kerry and McCain and thinks we're too aggressive. He doesn't want NATO in Ukraine and I can't say as I blame him for that. If your country had been invaded by Western Europeans as many times as his has you might want a buffer zone too.
I have to wonder if the Russians are capable of doing any better. I also have to wonder if he is really any worse than some of the EU types who want to impose their socialist group think on Europe no matter what the Europeans think. And, as I said the other day, Obama is a lot closer and a lot more threatening to me than Putin will ever be. I honestly don't believe that Russian tanks will be rolling through Poland any time soon but I see new Mexicans in my country every day. They don't need tanks. They just walk right in and make themselves at home.
What constantly amazes me is how Western leaders demonize Putin while giving the Chicoms a pass.

Russia has some legitimate national security interests. Having hostiles directly on their border makes them twitchy. There are historical reasons for this.
Russia has a problem with Muslim terrorists. Beslan. Nord Ost. Chechnya.
We share some common global security concerns with the Russians. It seems foolish not to recognize this.

None of them succeeded. However, the invasion from the East did and the Rus would live under the Mongol yoke for generations. Nice underpopulated resource rich region you have there in Siberia Vlad.

I hate to sound like a commie apologist because I think it's great we won the Cold War. Communism sucks big time for a whole lot of reasons. Although, I do think the Russians played the game better than we did - hence the lingering leftist influences in academia and Hollywood. McCarthy was right, in spite of being a dick.
Crimea was predictable, IMHO. Historically a part of the Rodina, a major naval base, access to the Med.
The Ukraine is that bit about hostiles on the border. Notice there has not been a full-scale invasion. They're chess players. Threat and maneuver.
Subs in the Baltic has been going on forever. I remember reading about cat & mouse games as a kid. The diff is now the Swedes lack assets to prosecute contacts. So do the Brits now they have killed off the Nimrods.
Long range bomber runs mean the Russians can once again afford the gas. And maintenance. Falling oil prices may put the bite on showing the flag. Frack on, baby!

[DAWN] LATELY, Pervez Musharraf has been unburdening himself of some of his views on democracy. In a BBC interview, he said that while he believed in democracy, he did not consider the Western version of the system appropriate for Pakistan. And speaking at a youth forum in Karachi, he said that his coup-making predecessors had all acted in the national interest.
Elaborating on these themes in a conversation at his Karachi home, he told me that to strengthen democracy, there must be an institutional provision for the military to be represented in political decision-making at the highest level. This, he maintained, would prevent future coups, and would help forge a consensus between the civilian and military leadership.
I am old enough to recall General Ayub Khan’s mantra: “Parliamentary democracy does not suit the genius of the people of Pakistan.” This has been the recurring theme running through all our military governments as generals have sought to justify and legitimise their interventions.

For a religion spread by the sword, the military component would have high standing in its hierarchy of 'most important people'. Remember there is no separation of 'church and state' in that religion. That's an infidel concept.

Just like his ideological tension with European leaders has not impeded trade, one should not credit his compatibility with the nationalist leadership of India for these new frontiers. Then there is the issue of European parliaments passing nonbinding suggestions to recognize a Paleostinian state. The Left can hardly blame the government for these, when some of the leading figures on the left have been lobbying European capitals to pass such measures. Indeed, major Labor Party figures -- including former attorney-generals, speakers of parliament, and so forth -- have been at the forefront of the Paleostinian recognition campaign. They have not been drummed out of the party, or otherwise significantly rebuked. So if anything, it is not Netanyahu but his critics who should shoulder the blame for this (rather insignificant) diplomatic disturbance.

The Europeans have come to believe that Israel has stolen land that "belonged" to Palestinians, that Jews have no rights in these lands, and thus the thieves must return them independent of any guarantees of security, worship, or an end to the conflict.

A disturbing conversation with one of my smartest, most astute friends who is from a border state but has been observing race relations for a long time now. He is white. He is definitely idiosyncratic. This, in paraphrase, is what he said:
“I keep reading in the newspapers and seeing in the mainstream media how angry blacks are at whites over the Trayvon Martin case, the Ferguson case and the Staten Island case. And what the media is missing is that as angry as the blacks are at the whites, that’s how angry many — not all — whites are at the blacks. Blacks ask for reparations for slavery and Jim Crow, as if paying today’s twenty-year-old crack addict had anything to do with his ten times removed grandfather being a slave or could make any difference at all to the soul of that slave.
“What I wonder is when white people are going to start asking black people for reparations for wrecking the public schools, for destroying urban life in many cities, for the insanely disproportionate share of armed robberies, homicides, and rapes they commit? When are black people going to pay reparations for putting the whole nation in fear?”
I heard this from a man about my age and I would chalk it up to one person’s oddness except that I hear words a bit like these constantly these days from white people.
Except during the era of school busing in the seventies, I have never heard or seen whites so angry at blacks. Al Sharpton has done what he set out to do and so has Eric Holder. They have fanned the flames of racial anger to a white hot pitch.
It is a scary situation, and what I keep thinking is that the only solution for angry people of both races is a spiritual solution: turn the anger and fear over to God. Stop looting. Stop whipping up hate. Stop play acting by affluent white college kids who pretend to be black revolutionaries.
Turn it over to God and pray for forgiveness and understanding among men of all races and faiths.
I have seen this work miracles and this, I am sure, is the direction we need to go. Only God’s love can solve this problem.
I would suggest just listen to what God said TO people.
You shall have no other gods before Me.
You shall not make idols.
You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.
Work 6 days a week but remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Honor your father and your mother.
You shall not murder.
You shall not commit adultery.
You shall not steal.
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
You shall not covet.
You know, rules of life that progressive libs have been successfully fighting to ban from "civilization" since the 50's.

The founders clearly foresaw the obvious conflict of cultures, hence the creation of Liberia. The great hope was that the scourge of slavery and cheap labor could somehow be rectified without bloodshed. It was not to be.
The Weaver Bird does not nest with the Fish Eagle. Each has their purpose in the vast scheme of nature, and neither is greater than the other. Each has it's domain as was intended by the creator.

I'm hearing - as well as feeling myself - pretty much the same things that Mr. Stein is hearing. Being accused of being a racist every time one turns around is pretty well guaranteed to begin thinking that one may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb.
Especially when it comes to black crime against whites. The numbers and the crimes themselves are horrific, and the US media seems bound and determined to sweep them under the rug. Lest it set off a resurgence of the KKK or something. And Obama, Holder and the CBC seem absolutely determined to pour gasoline on the bonfire already.

If you had a student who was black and worked a less than motivated C- in class, and then you rode that student up to B performance, then you didn't let up the continuing criticism but no praise, you'd be called a racist. If you had a society that on race relations had been doing a C- job, then you rode it up to a B performance, then you didn't let up on the criticism and not praise, you'd be called a Democrat.
Knowing human behavior, the subject will come to the conclusion 'why bother' there's nothing to make these people happy.

Obama and Holder, their progressive henchmen, and the big media outlets have been focused almost exclusively on skin color to the exclusion of character. Prime examples: Trayvon Martin thug. Michael Brown thug.
Although if we use the same expansive definition of species (bone, color, et al variations and differences rather than reproduction of viable offsprings) that government uses to shut things down these days, there's a case for a differing classification.
Today, I stopped caring about my fellow man. I stopped caring about my community, my neighbors, and those I serve. I stopped caring today because a once noble profession has become despised, hated, distrusted, and mostly unwanted.
I stopped caring today because parents refuse to teach their kids right from wrong and blame us when they are caught breaking the law. I stopped caring today because parents tell their little kids to be good or “the police will take you away” embedding a fear from year one. I read this a couple days ago. He is wrong about the conservatives' point, or at least my perspective about giving hell to the tacticool officers @ day 1 Fergy.
First of all, nobody knew the BLM had a SWAT team until they swooped on some cowboy with back taxes. Second, as a firefighter I get having the right equipment and going home that night, my issue was how and quickly they were deployed. Both situations are leadership issues, not individual LEOs.
So I ask this: what if you had to use the equipment you deploy with? Presenting a show of force as such, eventually there will be a response. What then? Especially with the leadership seeming to want to provoke a response.

LEO duty is a tough, usually thankless job which involves dealing with people on the worst day of their life. So I'd like to share a story.
I was driving home one day. I was crossing a bridge when my tire disintegrated - good times, tickled a little. On the shoulder of the interstate I was attempting a tire change, on the horizen was a tornado producing cell heading my way. A hi-po pulled over to assist, my jack was not working in the situation, he let me use his. My spare was low, he let me go on to the turnaround, flashed lights, and escorted me back to the nearest exit with a service station.
Saved my butt he did. Thank You Kansas Highway Patrol.

A thousand 'attaboys' are wiped out by one awe sh!t.
The media focuses on the rare and unusual, not the common everyday environment. They need to sell - air time, page column, their political narratives.
Given that, the officers do themselves no good allowing the really dangerous, destructive, trigger happy, et al to work among them. That makes the media's game so much easier. See the first sentence.

I got to go along with the Lieutenant. However, I hope he doesn't stop caring. IMO there are a lot more good people out there than bad people. If you are looking at crooks, criminals, drug dealers, and domestic dispute situations, one probably begins to think everyone is bad. I've a buddy who was on a SWAT team involved in high-risk entries and a some justified shootings, I think he has had signs of PTSD for years.

..probably yes. The bean counters from pol to voter want to pay the least they have to for them. That seldom included R&R off time (not vacation) to decompress cause then you need 110%+ manning (think long term pension/medical in that). So they work them to the edge and beyond. Even our military recognizes you can't keep them on the line for an extended period of time, although they're gaming it trying to figure out what the NLT time is.

well f man, today's standards I have pts and comparitively I ain't seen nothin,. I think part of that problem is the inability to actually talk about it with peers "you are ruining my coffee with gore" they seem to think help comes from a vending machine and not some duud who just had a kid listening in on a vehicle rollover with missing toddler for ten minutes onto work.
And I'm lucky a goodly portion of family is at the least familiar 'no app for shit happens'.

I don't feel sorry for this guy. He is acting butt hurt and needs to man up. Guess what, a large and vocal population in our society hate all of the defenders. Leo's, soldiers, DA's, CIA, Contractors on the battlefield, and on and on, they despise those that stand up for the rights of others. If you think you will sway them your wrong. They hate cops, until they need them, then they bitch about how long it takes for them to get there or why did they not get the scum off the street sooner. You cant win, so stop trying! This guy needs to look in the mirror and ask himself why he became a cop in the first place. He has a point on everything he is saying, but his feelings are misplaced. My mother would have slapped him on the back of his head and told him to get over himself.
He needs to remember, like most here at RB get so clearly that sheep hate the sheepdog. If you want to be loved, go be a sheep. Then you can hug you way through life blind to the evil that lurks. But I believe this guy gets it, or at least did before losing his religion so to speak. I for one hope he finds his way back to the pack and stops listening to those that want to destroy our democracy.
On a second note there has been a lot of the pity me crap from the Wisconsin police. Tell me? There were over 50 organizations coordinating the riots, 50! Revcomusa was leading, as were a number of other communist orgs. Then there was anarchy groups, too damn many to name, but they all have names and leaders. Then the SEIU was there. They coordinated riots across America. Why doesn't the local Sherriff department investigate these groups and their leaders. They clearly incited criminal behavior across state lines. I do believe they could prosecute the leaders under the RICO act. Get after it, build the case, you wont get any help from the top cop in this nation, he is a card carrying member of the black panthers. But you can build irrefutable evidence and then they will have to act, or act after an admin change.
Remember when the enemy has you surrounded, stop whining, you are living in a target rich environment so get after it!
