More Californians Forced To Run Extension Cords To Neighboring States
[Babylon Bee] CALIFORNIA‐Deprived of luxuries like power and freedom, more and more Californians are being forced to run extension cords over to their neighbors in adjacent states.

A caravan of migrant Californians was seen traversing the deserts separating the state from its eastern neighbors, towing hundreds of miles' worth of extension cords.

Californians knocked on random Nevada and Arizona residents' doors and asked if they could borrow some power to charge their cellphones, power their espresso machines, and run their tanning beds. They were surprised to discover how nice people were in other states, saying things like, "Sure, neighbor!" and "No problem. Do you want to borrow any guns or cactuses?"

Unfortunately, the increased power demand caused the power grids in Arizona and Nevada to get knocked out, so they had to run extension cords over to New Mexico and Utah, respectively. Then their power got knocked out, and their neighbors' power, and so on and so on until all the states on the East Coast were forced to run extension cords over to Europe, but they were electrocuted to death because of the water hazard.

Californians are now looking for an alternative energy source, such as rubbing balloons on hipsters' beards.

#10  I would think gyms could take themselves off of the grid in that way, but they aren't gonna help their neighbors let alone the state very much.

CA should have pushed for solar power on every rooftop long ago. We have the sun, and a typical roof could provide enough power for the house beneath. You just need batteries or wind power to get your through the night.

Instead they pushed for massive solar farms because you have to keep the union workers of PG&E employed.

Posted by: Mullah Richard || 10/31/2019 12:12 Comments || Top||

#12  This might be funny if it wasn't at least half true. Individual Californians have no need to run their extension cords to neighboring states because PG&E and SoCalEdison do it for them. A great deal of California's energy comes from out of state. I remember a few years back when a worker at an Arizona power plant flipped the wrong switch and the result was a power outage all over southern California. I got to leave work early that day, after shutting down all the computers in the computer room before the battery backup ran out of juice.

Why Is Vindman a War Hero but Flynn a Traitor?
The coup and cover-up to take down a duly elected POTUS continues in the House.
[American Thinker] The network coverage of the testimony of National Security Council staffer Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman as a "bombshell" and "damning" was laughable and dishonest, implying that his service to his country wearing its uniform made him a credible and unbiased witness without a political agenda. Particularly egregious were the comments of NBC News anchor Lester Holt, who equated wartime courage with peacetime candor. As Newsbusters noted:

After a report on the California wildfires, NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt told viewers "[t]here was dramatic testimony in the House impeachment investigation by a decorated war hero who works on the National Security Council and was among those who heard that phone call between President Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart."

Except that others on the call between President Trump and Ukrainian President, including those who were charged with producing a transcript, don’t quite remember the call the way Vindman does. Certainly both participants on the call both said there was no pressure for Ukraine to "dig up dirt" on former Vice President Joe Biden. As for the quid pro quo, we now know the Ukrainians didn’t learn until August military aid had been delayed. The phone call was in July. It’s hard to have a quid pro quo when the party being extorted is not told about the alleged quo. So just what was Vindman’s problem with the call?

In his opening statement, Vindman says he came forward because he "did not think it was proper to demand that a foreign government investigate a U.S. citizen." Yet when pressed to explain where in the phone call transcript any demand was made, he lapsed into psychobabble about Ukrainian President Zelensky inferring a demand because of Trump’s more powerful position in the world. As Fox News reported:

Vindman voiced concerns about the investigation request during his interview Tuesday, but was also questioned over his statement that it was not "proper to demand that a foreign government investigate a U.S. citizen."

A source told Fox News that Vindman struggled for several minutes when asked to point to Trump’s language in the transcript that backed up the claim that it was a demand. Vindman later stated that Trump was the party with the most power, or "superior," so the "whole thing [call] was a demand asking for a favor."

What? So why did Zelensky say he felt no pressure? Vindman’s testimony comes close to being as much of a fable about the call as was House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff’s opening statement before his committee making up what he claimed Trump meant and what Zelensky understood.

Certainly 33-year military veteran Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn was not treated with the same deference when he became the focus of the deep state coup attempting to keep Donald Trump out of the White House. He served his country with genuine honor and distinction He served both in Iraq and Afghanistan both for the Central Command and the Joint Special Operations Command which included units like Seal Team 6. President Obama appointed him director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, where he served until he fell out of favor for his criticism of President Obama precipitously withdrawing from Iraq, which created a vacuum the Islamic State rose to fill, with Obama doing nothing as he watched it grow except dismiss it as the "JV team."

Flynn’s attorney, Sidney Powell, has filed a motion to dismiss the charges against him based on indications that the FBI altered his 302s, essentially written reports based on witness interviews, to make him look guilty, and leaking information on Flynn’s calls to the Washington Post. As reported by RedState:

Powell alleges a set-up of Flynn including that the FBI 302s related to Flynn were edited. A 302 is the form the FBI uses to reflect what a witness says during an interview. Powell’s filing also suggests that Office of Net Assessment’s James Baker illegally leaked the transcripts of Flynn’s calls to David Ignatius of the Washington Post. And Powell is specifically looking for the phone records of James Clapper to see about his contacts with Ignatius, including that he essentially told Ignatius to "take the kill shot on Flynn."

Powell’s brief alleges that Flynn was essentially railroaded and set up and that the prosecution has withheld exculpatory evidence that should have gotten the case thrown out a long time ago. As the Federalist reports:

...Powell’s 37-page brief pivots between showcasing the prosecution’s penchant for withholding evidence and exposing significant new evidence the defense team uncovered that establishes a concerted effort to entrap Flynn. Along the way, Powell drops half-a-dozen problems with Flynn’s plea and an equal number of justifications for outright dismissal of the criminal charges against Flynn.

What is most striking, though, is the timeline Powell pieced together from publicly reported text messages withheld from the defense team and excerpts from documents still sealed from public view. The sequence Powell lays out shows that a team of "high-ranking FBI officials orchestrated an ambush-interview of the new president’s National Security Advisor, not for the purpose of discovering any evidence of criminal activity --they already had tapes of all the relevant conversations about which they questioned Mr. Flynn --but for the purpose of trapping him into making statements they could allege as false."

This is a genuine bombshell involving a plot to overturn an election and one does not have to resort to agenda-driven psychobabble to figure it out. Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn is a war hero who was loyal to the truth, his country and his President. When he is exonerated and asks where he can go to get his reputation back, I would suggest he start at the office of NBC’s Lester Holt.

Ann Coulter: LTC Vindman - He's a One-Man Ukrainian Lobby!
BLUF:
[Coulter at Breitbart] It would be bad enough if Col. Vindman’s policy disagreement with the president had to do with U.S. policy on Mexico or North Korea. But it was about the country where Col. Vindman was born.

We’re always told that Democrats don’t have to prove wrongdoing by Trump ‐ for example, under the emoluments clause, in his foreign policy negotiations, or when he fired his FBI director. Rather, it’s claimed that Trump’s conduct creates the appearance of impropriety.

Well, having a Ukrainian-born analyst butt in to ensure U.S. foreign aid flows effortlessly to the country of his birth gives the appearance that he’s concerned about fairness to Ukraine. That’s not what this is supposed to be about. It’s supposed to be about what’s in the best interests of the United States.

Worse, Vindman was dealing with the U.S.’s Ukrainian policy versus Russia, which Ukrainians hate because Stalin murdered millions of them. It’s like having an Armenian advise on whether we should be hostile to Turkey.
It’s queerer than that: according to The Times of Israel, the good colonel is a Jewish Ukrainian-American. In general, Jewish Ukrainians are not fond of the olde sod, steeped as it long has been in Joo-hatred. Certainly that was how my father thought of nearby Latvia, his birth country.
This is not the usual dual loyalty claim insultingly attributed to Irish or Jewish Americans who were born in this country. Lots of us have admixtures of other nationalities.

But when you were actually born in another country and that’s the precise policy matter you’re sticking your nose into, people are going to wonder if it’s really our national interests you’re looking out for.

#2  Because, at the time, Lex somebody around 0 had a brilliant idea "Lets replace Ukrainian pro-Russian government with one that will deny the use of Crimea to Russians. Thus, stopping Russian involvement in Syria. An involvement that makes fun of the red lines the great O proclaimed!"
Of course, Vlad - not being a graduate of Harvard but of KGB academy - just grabbed Crimea. And left to USA the joy of financing Ukraine with the usual kickbacks.
I'd guess if you checked the brave colonel's bank accounts you could find some amazing things.

#5  Our g(r)om nailed it with #2.

"I'd guess if you checked the brave colonel's bank accounts you could find some amazing things."

Vindman's placement and access (P&A) and previous overseas assignments (exposure) make him an absolutely ideal candidate or target for foreign recruitment. I cannot for a moment believe he was simply overlooked by what was previously referred to as Hostile Intelligence Services (HOIS). Now simply referred to as Foreign Intelligence Service (FIS).

Someone needs to do a 'deep dive' on this POS and prove me wrong. Please include his well placed twin brother.

* Obviously, 'HOIS' would include, but not be limited to the Klingons.

CDC: People With Dirt On Clintons Have 843% Greater Risk Of Suicide
[The Babylon Bee - Humor] ATLANTA, GA – According to a report from the Centers for Disease Control released on Thursday, people with inside, compromising knowledge of Bill and Hillary Clinton’s financial and political dealings are 843% more likely to commit suicide.

“We’ve never seen a single risk factor cause a spike of this magnitude,” a CDC spokesperson told reporters. “Interestingly, in spite of their increased suicide risk, people with dirt on the Clintons rarely show any warning signs of suicide, and they never leave a suicide note.”

Remarking about how abnormal it is, the spokesman again stressed the significance of the data.

“Therefore, we advise any American with detrimental information about Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, or the Clinton Foundation to forget about it as quickly as possible to avoid a greatly increased probability of taking your own life,” he cautioned.

“And—I swear—that’s all we know.”

LTC Vindman is a tool...but you knew that already
From a comment posted last evening by our very own 'Rambler in Virginia'
[Sense of Events] I mean by that Army Lt. Col. and National Security Council staffer Alexander Vindman is being used as a tool by House Democrats, not that he is trying to do so - although the evidence that he is trying is not absent, see below.

The impeachers are accusing Republicans of attacking Vindman's service and patriotism. Funny thing is, I have not seen any such attacks, I have seen only Democrats' accusations of them. But let's humor them:

Pick the one, single officer whose patriotism is off limits to any possible criticism.
Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman
Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn
Maj. Tulsi Gabbard
But back to Vindman. I have some pointed comments about him and his testimony yesterday to Congress. I will only offer my own bio as a founding for what I am writing here.

Today the AP reports, Colonel testifies he raised concerns about Ukraine, Trump. And in the first paragraph (my boldface):
WASHINGTON (AP) ‐ Defying White House orders, an Army officer serving with President Donald Trump’s National Security Council testified to impeachment investigators Tuesday that he twice raised concerns over the administration’s push to have Ukraine investigate Democrats and Joe Biden.

That alone shatters his credibility with me. Officers do not get a choice of what orders they get to obey. The Supreme Court of the United States wrote in Parker v. Levy, 1974, "An army is not a deliberative body. It is an executive arm. Its law is that of obedience. No question can be left open as to the right of command in the officer, or the duty of obedience in the soldier."

The armed forces' Manual for Court Martial, the instruction of how to implement the statutes of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, states plainly, "the dictates of a person’s conscience, religion, or personal philosophy cannot justify or excuse the disobedience of an otherwise lawful order."

The Manual also puts a soldier's obligation to obey this way: "An order requiring the performance of a military duty or act may be inferred to be lawful and it is disobeyed at the peril of the subordinate."

Yet Vindman disobeyed his order not to appear before Congress simply because he wanted to. His entire credibility is utterly shattered and his willful disobedience reveals him as a partisan hack in uniform.

This officer is being hailed as a hero because he placed country above Trump etc. etc. as required by his oath of commissioning in which swore to "protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic." His advocates skip right over the part where he also swore, "I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter...."

How about we don't sexualise and objectify women at all, regardless of their nationalities?
[TWITTER]
That's about a dumb idea. Reducing women to nothing but objects of lust is stoopid, as bad an idea as keeping them hidden away under burkas and using them as breeding stock. On the other hand, women like looking sexy, and men like looking at them. If men didn't look, they'd be disappointed, and we wouldn't want that, would we? Much of the problem of the Islamic world has to do with men's sexual frustration, never seeing a pretty face or the sway of a lovely pair of hips. Our western society today is hypersexualized, Islamic society is the opposite (hyposexualized?) A happy medium would be nice.
