How SFPD's bungled messaging spawned baseless theories about Pelosi attack
One of those editorials pretending to be straight reporting.
[SFGate] Shortly after Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was assaulted by a man who broke into his San Francisco home early Friday morning, a number of conspiracy theories began circulating online.

The official story, according to police, is that David DePape, 42, broke into the Pelosis' home on Broadway near Divisadero through a rear glass door with the intention of taking Nancy Pelosi hostage. Instead, he found Paul Pelosi home alone and allegedly struck the 82-year-old in the head with a hammer he had brought as the two men struggled for control of the weapon. Authorities say DePape and Pelosi had never met each other prior to the break-in.

But if you were paying attention to online discourse about the attack over the weekend, you probably read a very different account of events.

#7  invited DePape and another person over for a three-way tryst because Nancy Pelosi was out of town for the weekend.

Oh come on. That's the pimp and blow man. He sits in the other room sober as a mouse while on duty, and makes sure the client is treated well, keeps a line ready, ledgers the tab. And if someone does get hurt, or dies, well he takes care of that too.

And Paul showed just a couple weeks ago that if Nancy is in town, he just drives to his other room. I'd say its the drive home, but one accident in a thousand blitzed tries, not bad.

We get it. Nancy can make gourmet ice cream unappetizing. PROUD to be proud and all that, right?

Exactly. Because 82 year olds hot rodding around at 2am blowing stop signs because blitzed out of his mind (with a mystery passenger?) is totally normal for that age group.

How did I explain my conclusion to wife.."I took the worst experiences I've had with people, lowered my expectations, and removed accountability."

#12  according to this police report the visitor's hammer was in his back pack which he left outside.
We must therefore assume that he had two hammers, one in his back pack and another that he used to break the window, and assault Mr. Pelosi.
Does this fellow who lives in a bus carrying a Black Lives Matter sign, normally carry around two hammers?
Is it possible that the hammer in the back-pack was his only hammer, and the one seen by the police was Pelosi's hammer.
This opens up the possibility that when the police arrived Pelosi pulled out his hammer and tried to attack the visitor with it. The visitor then was defending himself from this unexpected attack, and was angry at P and assaulted him in self defense.
I cannot imagine that the police returned the hammer to the back-pack, so the reported presence of a hammer in that pack strongly suggests the existence of two hammers.
Another question: assuming only two people in the house when the police arrived, one of those two opened the door to let them in. If it was P and he felt himself in danger, could he have sought protection from the police? If he actually hand opened the door that should have been possible. On the other hand he could have buzzed them in and was not near them, which is a plausible answer to this question.
It could be that P felt a bit embarrassed by the presence of the visitor, and sought his own hammer to make that presence seem hostile, to the police.
Too bad the camera evidence is unavailable. that usually means it contradicts the police report.

Study debunks ‘red state murder' claim from Hillary Clinton, Democrats
[FoxNews] Of the 30 American cities with the highest murder rates, 27 have Democratic mayors, and at least 14 Soros-backed prosecutors, the study shows.

"Whether a state as a whole voted for Donald Trump or Joe Biden has nothing whatever to do with the homicide rates within its constituent parts."
A new study reveals that local Democratic officials and Soros-backed prosecutors in cities and counties are responsible for the rising violent crime rates in otherwise red states. The study debunks recent claims by Democrats, including Hillary Clinton, that rising crime rates are due to policies pursued by Republican or "Trump" states.

"The Blue City Murder Problem," a study published Friday by the Edwin Meese III Center for Judicial and Legal Studies at the Heritage Foundation, found that, of the 30 American cities with the highest murder rates, 27 have Democratic mayors. Within those cities, there are at least 14 "rogue prosecutors" either backed or inspired by billionaire Democrat supporter George Soros.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Big Sky Penis Done By USAF Pilot Near Russian Base In Syria
I'm glad we've maintained the upper hand on creativity in our battles with the former Soviet Union!

The author of this column is Jerry Thornton, a local Boston area lad who grew up in Weymouth near the then air base, one town over from where I am. I've never met him but I'd like to, as it's apparent he's not one for leftist bullshit. Check him out!

[BarStoolSports]
The leadership for U.S. Air Forces in Europe has determined that a KC-135 aerial tanker did not mean to fly in a phallic flight pattern near a Russian base in Syria recently, said USAFE spokesman Capt. Ryan Goss.

"The KC-135 Stratotanker (RAKE71) operating in the Eastern Mediterranean adjusted between multiple different flight tracks during the course of the mission," Goss said in a recent statement. "While these adjustments and movements appear to create a vulgar outline, there was no intent by the pilots or the unit to do so. As we continue to look into this, USAFE-AFAFRICA, AMC [Air Mobility Command] and the USAF will continue to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and airmanship."

Earlier this week, the aircraft took off from Chania International Airport and flew east of Cyprus. FlightRadar24, a flight tracking service, shows that the KC-135’s flight path included an oval and two circles, prompting the Italian newspaper la Repubblica to speculate that the plane had drawn a sky penis in front of Russia’s naval base in Tartus, Syria. ...

Air Force Col. Damien Pickart, the top spokesman for Air Mobility Command, reiterated to Task & Purpose that the KC-135’s phallic-like flight pattern was unintentional.

And so, while no one wants World War III, if it should happen, let it be for this. That a US Air Force Stratotanker pilot and crew drew a dick on Russian radar.

Sure, the USAF is denying it. What else would you expect? That's what they do. Department of Defense spokesman have their jobs, flight crews have theirs. Col. Damien Pickart doesn't tell the men aboard the KC-135 how to refuel our fighter jets, they don't tell him how to lie about obvious dongs showing up on radar screens. That way everyone gets along.

Just don't ask us to believe this wasn't a big old teabagging of the Russian Bear. I don't know a guy who at some point in his life dream of someday being a pilot for the Good Ol' US of A. And for sure I don't know one who didn't repeatedly and unapologetically scribble dicks all over his friends' book covers, notebooks, and homework whenever they had the chance. These guys have found a way to do both. And it's to their undying credit.

To repeat, I'm anti-war, just like all of you. Hostilities need to cease, not escalate. But if history should remember that world war broke out because Putin didn't like the idea of a big flight pattern image cock and balls dangling in his cyber face, so be it. Our country was born thanks to a war that started over people not wanting to pay a tax on tea to repay the king for winning us an earlier war. So stupider things have happened.

  • Richard warned that further investment in the US military was needed, in the face of rising threats

  • 'This Ukraine crisis that we're in right now, this is just the warmup,' he said. 'The big one is coming'

  • Richard added: 'It isn't going to be very long before we're going to get tested in ways that we haven't been tested a long time'

  • He said not enough was being done to counter Chinese aggression, saying: 'As I assess our level of deterrence against China, the ship is slowly sinking'

#1  It seems to me that if we can just hold the line another two decades or so, China will no longer be able to be a serious military threat. Ivy League schools use 'personality score' to reject applicants
[Concerned Patriot] Want to get into an elite university? Develop a better personality so you can receive a higher personality score during the admissions process.

In the Supreme Court case regarding using race-conscious admissions (affirmative action) at Harvard University and UNC, we learn Harvard assigns a personality score to every applicant.

By assigning a lower personality score to Asian applicants, Harvard attempts to justify its rejection of some Asian applicants, despite their higher overall grades and test scores. This is one way universities use to better shape what they believe the racial mix of each incoming class should be.

Below is a chart that shows the percentage of undergraduate enrollment of Asians has been relatively steady at Ivy League schools since 1990 but increased at Caltech. 1997 was the last year before the affirmative action ban in California took effect.

ASIANS ARE LESS PERSONABLE?
As someone who has always had friends in low and high places, I never realized I had a worse personality than people of other races. It also seems hard to measure someone’s personality, self-confidence, likability, and courage without at least spending an hour with them in person.

Although I attended a state school (William & Mary), I ended up getting a front-office job at Goldman Sachs in NYC. Goldman is a highly coveted employer by many graduates from elite universities.

As a Goldman employee interviewing perspective applicants, it was actually kind of surreal rejecting ~95% of the Ivy League applicants who got past "Super Day," the first round of all-day interviews.

Heck, I’ve even had a girlfriend or wife since the 7th grade! Even if I was the best-looking fella, which I’m clearly not, there’s no way I could have always had a love interest since 12 years old if I had had a terrible personality.

But let’s say Harvard is right and I’m not as personable as others due to my race. I don’t have the self-confidence to speak up for myself nor do I have the courage to live life on my terms. I take the beatings and like it!

I’m good with that because I’m financially free, baby! There’s nobody I need to constantly suck up to to try and get ahead.

We Must Restore America's Faith in Its Elections
[American Thinker] Nearly two years after the shambolic 2020 U.S. presidential election, tens of millions of ordinary Americans still suspect the election was rigged—through a combination of Big Tech interference, mail-in ballots lacking signature verification, so-called "ballot harvesting," and the private takeover of government election operations by nonprofit organizations controlled by partisan Democrats, funded by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

A Monmouth University poll released in late September 2022 found that fully one-third (32%) of all Americans and 61% of Republicans still believe election interference was the cause of Donald Trump’s defeat—despite 23 months of non-stop and increasingly threatening media propaganda, a ludicrous Congressional show trial of "mostly peaceful" election protesters, and even calls by Democrat politicians to make questioning election results a crime.

According to a 2021 Rasmussen Reports survey, fully 56% of respondents said "it’s likely that cheating affected the outcome of the 2020 presidential election, including 41% who said it’s ’very likely.’"

These are the incalcitrant "election deniers" Joe Biden has denounced as "semi-fascists" and a "threat to democracy"—including nearly 300 candidates for elected office across America.

How can people hold such a ludicrous opinion, especially when every corporate-owned news outlet in America, and dozens of courts and citizen-watch organizations, insist the opposite; namely, that America’s elections have never been more secure and fair?

But beyond the announcement that Russia will supply gas, oil and wheat to Afghanistan, the payment and pricing details have not been released to the public. How the two countries will navigate international sanctions and their exclusion from the global banking system remains unclear.

This deal comes against the backdrop of active trade talks between the Taliban and its regional neighbours and Russia’s discussions with several non-Western countries on long-term oil contracts. The economic value of Afghanistan—Russia trade relations might be dismal, but more bilateral engagements and partnerships are a positive diplomatic asset for Russia and the Taliban. They show the international community that neither country is isolated.

Europe
This is why there is no ‘China-Russia alliance'

German leader Olaf Scholz is taking heat for his trip to Beijing — but as usual, critics are oversimplifying a complex geopolitical picture.

The visit to Beijing by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz this week has produced modest but real diplomatic results. Chinese leader Xi Jinping issued a strong statement warning all countries not to use or threaten to use nuclear weapons — something that can be read above all as a warning to Moscow not to use them in Ukraine.

Xi also called for urgent negotiations to end the conflict in Ukraine, without however accompanying this with any language condemning America and NATO or supporting Russia. Scholz for his part condemned Chinese human rights abuses and called on the Chinese government to use its influence with Moscow to end the war in Ukraine. In an article written before the visit, Scholz pointed out that Germany’s trade relationship with China is a reciprocal one, but also pledged to reduce German dependency in certain areas. He stated German opposition to any moves for German hegemony; but in what looks like a warning to Washington, he also stressed that "Germany has no interest in seeing new blocs emerge in the world."

Scholz’s visit has attracted fierce criticism from politicians and the media in the U.S., Europe and Germany itself, including tediously predictable titles like "Scholz Kowtows to Beijing." Despite Scholz’s emphasis that continued cooperation with China is essential to the struggle to limit climate change, Annalena Baerbock, the German Foreign Minister and leader of the Green Party in the governing coalition, has declared that:

"We can’t afford to just hope that things won’t be so bad after all with these autocratic regimes...It is important to the German government and to me personally that we transfer what we have learned from our dependence on Russia to our new China strategy,"

Xi’s statement on Ukraine was probably as much as could realistically have been hoped for. Those Western politicians and commentators who have called for China to join Western sanctions against Russia are being foolish. Even India, a U.S. partner and fellow democracy, has not done so. Nor has most of the world. For both geopolitical and economic reasons (including partial dependence on Russia for China’s energy security), there was never a chance that China would join in a U.S.-led economic war against Russia.

But if those Westerners who said they hoped for Chinese partnership with the West against Russia were being naively optimistic (or simply looking for another stick with which to beat China), those who talk of a Sino-Russian "alliance," are guilty of gross exaggeration, and a careless and dangerous misuse of the term "alliance" —though they have some excuse in the fact that Chinese and Russian rhetoric has also talked in these terms.

There is indeed a Sino-Russian partnership; but there is no alliance. China will not fight for Russia in Ukraine any more than Russia will fight for China in the Far East. And if China has not joined the West in economic pressure against Russia, it has also given virtually no military or economic help to Russia, beyond — like most of the world — going on buying Russian oil and gas.

This restraint is somewhat surprising. Given the growing hostility between the United States and China, and the warnings of possible war over Taiwan from analysts on both sides, one might have expected the Chinese government to do everything in its power to strengthen Russia against the United States; especially since Russia is almost the only powerful strategic partner that China possesses.

The explanation for China’s failure to help Russia lies partly in an ongoing Chinese tendency to strategic caution, which (outside the South and East China Seas) remains far greater than most Western commentary acknowledges. Chinese restraint is also however due to fear in Beijing that military and economic aid to Russia would lead the European Union to join the United States in imposing very damaging economic sanctions on China.

Clearly however this cuts both ways: If China is refraining from helping Russia’s war in Ukraine because it wishes to keep good economic relations with Europe, then if Germany and Europe radically reduce economic ties to China under U.S. pressure, Chinese aid to Russia is likely to increase proportionately.

Criticism of Scholz’s visit to China was increased by his recent decision to allow COSCO, a Chinese shipping corporation to buy a 25 percent stake in a port terminal at Hamburg, despite strong opposition from Washington and his own coalition partners. Scholz’s decision was no doubt due in part to a desire to help the city of Hamburg, of which he used to be the Mayor.

The Chinese stake was however reduced from the original share of 35 percent, and a share in one terminal will not bring China anywhere near controlling Hamburg docks. If China is to be barred from buying even a minority share in European infrastructure projects, then Europe will indeed be well on the way to economic decoupling from China. Moreover, while Germany has serious concerns about unfair trading practices and theft of intellectual property by China, a strong element of reciprocity does exist. BASF, the German chemicals company, is building its third largest plant in China. BMW is setting up a new company in China — in both cases, wholly German-owned....

Surber: Liz versus Tulsi
I call it the battle of turncoats. I trust neither Liz Cheney nor Tulsi (AKA The Hippie Chick) Gabbard. The fact that both opposed Trump (oh yes, the little surfer girl ran for president as a Never Trump Democrat) is part of it. But mainly I distrust them because they have turned on their own parties.

Of the two, Liz has it harder because her switch is to Democrats in a Republican year. She went down to Arizona to try and save Secretary of State Katie Hobbs from the Queen of MAGA, Kari Lake. It is almost unfair.

Tulsi (AKA The Hippie Chick) stayed home and tweeted, "Kari Lake is a leader who puts people first, is fighting for border security, energy independence, public safety, and other policies that actually make life better and more affordable for the American people."

As NBC said with an understatement worthy of a Brit, "Impact of Cheney's endorsement for Democrats expected to be limited."

Liz couldn't get herself elected these days. The Wyoming Republican Party gave her an early retirement from Congress.

#5  Tulsi was fully on board with Bernie Sanders. Yeah, sure, people can see the light and switch gears, but time will tell. That's not to say that Tulsi didn't have good ideas, but I'd take a step back first.
