FORT PAYNE, Ala. -- A 62-year-old grandmother arrested in a prostitution sting in Fort Payne has begun serving a two month jail sentence. Last night, a Fort Payne municipal judge sentenced Mary Clark Duncan to 180 days, but suspended all but 60 days of the jail term.
Mmmmmmmmmm...jail pancakes!
Duncan's daughter, Theresa Duncan, was also arrested August first.
Shares her mama's purty smile...
The mother and daughter were arrested Aug. 1, after they allegedly both agreed to have sex with an undercover officer for $30 -- at $15 each.
Theys the hiest priced escourts in Fert Payne...
Fort Payne Police Chief David Walker said the sting was carried out after his office received several tips that the women were engaged in illicit activities.
Guess they's sum really herny guys in Fert Payne...
“Prostitution is not something we see a lot of in the Fort Payne area,” Walker told The Times-Journal.
From the looks of these two beauties, I can see why...
WARNING: Pix at the site are not for the faint of heart or the delicate of digestion.
“However, we are glad that something of this nature was brought to our attention, and were able to put an end to this operation.”
For the good of mankind.
There were two men at the home at the time of the arrest, including Teresa Duncan’s estranged husband and Mary Duncan’s son. No charges have been filed against the men, Walker said, according to The Times-Journal.

#10  According to Ladder Theory, there are only three types of women:

1. Those a man would have sex with.

2. Those a man would have with drunk, and tell his friends.

3. Those a man would have sex with drunk, and not tell anyone.

Nowhere in Ladder Theory is there an explanation for why men would pay to have sex with these two ... in the same lifetime let alone the same day!

#11  I still remember this one old cop's three golden rules of hookers....

1) If she looks like hell and has bad hair, she's the real deal.

2) If she looks like hell and has great hair, it's a pre-op tranny with a wig.

3) If she looks pretty good, has good hair and doesn't smell bad, she's an undercover cop.

Yes, I have seen far worse looking than these two busted and paraded into the precinct. You 'burgers really don't wanna know what critters someone will pay $20 for.

#2  'God' responds to legislator's lawsuit

Sen. Chambers sued God for causing "widespread death, destruction"

Response: suit doesn't consider free will; defendant immune from some laws

LINCOLN, Nebraska (AP) -- A legislator who filed a lawsuit against God has gotten something he might not have expected: a response.

One of two court filings from "God" came Wednesday under otherworldly circumstances, according to John Friend, clerk of the Douglas County District Court in Omaha.

"This one miraculously appeared on the counter. It just all of a sudden was here -- poof!" Friend said.

State Sen. Ernie Chambers of Omaha sued God last week, seeking a permanent injunction against the Almighty for making terroristic threats, inspiring fear and causing "widespread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth's inhabitants."

Chambers, a self-proclaimed agnostic who often criticizes Christians, said his filing was triggered by a federal lawsuit he considers frivolous. He said he's trying to make the point that anybody can sue anybody.

Not so, says "God." His response argues that the defendant is immune from some earthly laws and the court lacks jurisdiction.

It adds that blaming God for human oppression and suffering misses an important point.

"I created man and woman with free will and next to the promise of immortal life, free will is my greatest gift to you," according to the response, as read by Friend.

There was no contact information on the filing, although St. Michael the Archangel is listed as a witness, Friend said.

A second response from "God" disputing Chambers' allegations lists a phone number for a Corpus Christi law office. A message left for that office was not immediately returned Thursday.

Attempts to reach Chambers by phone and at his Capitol office Thursday were unsuccessful.

As a duly-appointed representative of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, as demonstrated by my ordainment and baptism in the Christian church, it is with utmost mirth and amusement that I greet the demonstration of God's (or a duly-appointed representative of His Holiness who actually saw the amusement in Sen. Chamber's suit) ability to demonstrate humor with His creation's tap-dancing around His existence however our Father chose to demonstrate it.

Yours Truly,

Des Moines police investigate attack by Scrappleface onion
A Des Moines man went to jail Wednesday afternoon for allegedly throwing an onion at his wife. The police report begins: "(The victim) states her husband had been drinking and they got into an argument."

James Izzolena, 54, of 3515 Sheridan Ave., was charged with domestic assault causing injury. Police said he became upset with his wife, Nicole Izzolena, 27, and tossed an onion at her, striking her in the back of the head.

She told police it made her head hurt. James Izzolena admitted throwing the onion, police said, but he claimed he did not intend to hit her with it. He was being held without bond pending a court appearance today.

That seems rather extreme.
Cops and prosecutors in this country are slowly morphing into the gestapo.

#2  Blame just the cops and DA?
How about the torte lawyers who establish precedent that prior failures to restrain domestic violence incidents lead to greater bodily harm and death, therefore the city/county must pay x million dollars to the estate? So what's a bureaucratic government going to do other than cover their butts with non-waiverable procedures?
You see the same thing with school discipline. Reasonableness went out the window somewhere before a decade ago. The fundamental problem is that there is no perfect. There are trade offs in life. Those trade off more and more are dictated not by your representatives but by your new aristocracy - the judiciary and the lawyer class. Wonder if the founding fathers ever thought that daily life would be set by a powerful wing of the government owned and operated by a select fraternity?

#5  Gentlemen, based on the snippet here, you can't really tell if he's been busted for domestic violence (or worse) before. My totally uninformed opinion, since I haven't seen Mr Izzolena's rap sheet, is that he may have been a bad boy in the past and it is now catching up with him.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Mystery Solved: A family's search for a missing World War II submarine
Longing can chart a better course than Mapquest. After 65 years, the Abele brothers have finally found their father. Jim Abele commanded the Grunion, a U.S. Submarine that disappeared off the coast of Alaska during World War II.

Five years ago, his sons made a deal with their hearts, not their heads, and went looking for him. It cost them a bundle. “If this were to be an official Navy project,” John Abele chuckled, “I would guess that the taxpayers would be paying about ten times what we’re paying.”

“How much are you paying?” I asked.

“That’s a secret,” he laughed.

Just like the mystery of what happened to their father’s sub.

Military search planes never found where the Grunion sank, but the brothers from suburban Boston kept looking. Last summer, they began crisscrossing the Bering Sea probing the depths with Sonar. This summer they found the sub a mile down on the slope of an underwater volcano, 12 miles north of Kiska at the western tip of Alaska’s Aleutian Islands.

The brothers’ big break came, when a Japanese historian found an account of the Grunion’s last battle. It said there was a confrontation between a cargo ship and a sub. The freighter’s crew spotted two torpedoes bubbling toward them. The first one missed. The second one hit, exploded and stopped the engine. Terrified, the Japanese seamen turned a deck gun on the sub. They fired 84 times, as it began to surface. “There was a dull thud noise and a little spout. Presumably oil, we don’t know,” said Abele.

Their dad’s sub slid into history’s shadows. Seventy men were never heard from again.

The last time the boys saw their father was at Sunday dinner here at his sub base in Groton, Connecticut. Wartime secrecy prevented him from telling them he was leaving. He slipped away without a kiss or a wave. John’s brother, Bruce, told me with a tear in his eye, “We knew that he was gone when a neighbor called and said she had seen the sub leave. We didn’t have a chance to say good-bye.”

Four months later their mom got a telegram saying Commander Abele was missing, then a letter with a Navy Cross, citing him for valor. It came with a check. “She sent it back to the government,” said John.

And put her sons to work while she taught violin. The brothers showed me stacks of letters their mother had received. She wrote every family who lost someone on the Grunion. Their mom never remarried. The boys never forgot. Jim never left their minds.

“How did you finally grieve for your father?” I asked Bruce.

“I used to shoot baskets in the backyard. This is hard to say, but if I could make five at a time, I’d say, ‘Jim’s coming back!’” He choked up. “But he never did...”

So, his sons went to him. Some love cannot be measured. It is the sum of a lifetime of searching.

#2  Contrary to popular perception, many US, Allied, and enemy subs conducted surface = partially submerged attacks on opposing ships, as compared to deep underwater. And not always by torpedo.

#3  I'm given to understand many merchant ships had deck guns and gunners. If true, these sons are as honorable as their father. God bless them.

Biker's penis hit by lightning
I have heard of similar stories of guys getting zapped peeing on the 3rd rail and transformers. But lightning; now thats a new one.
A Croatian motorbiker's penis was zapped by lightning as he stopped beside the road to take a leak. Ante Djindjic, 29, from Zagreb, said: "I don't remember what happened. One minute I was taking a leak and the next thing I knew I was in hospital.

"Doctors said the lightning went through my body and because I was wearing rubber boots it earthed itself through my penis."

Djindjic, who suffered light burns to his chest and arms, added: "Thankfully, the doctors said that there would be no lasting effects, and my penis will function normally eventually."

#4  What the hell exactly was he doing with his ding-dong when it got struck by lightning?

As I understand it he was just taking a leak when lightning struck nearby, charging the surrounding ground. Since he was wearing rubber boots his feet were somewhat insulated, but since he had a stream of liquid contacting the ground and himself ... ZAP!

What are the odds?

Lovesick elk dies after attacking car
A male elk has died after attacking a car while out for a walk with an elk cow. The mating couple were strolling along the road near Arbrå in northern Sweden when Hans Paulsen came up behind them in his car.

On seeing the pair, the driver slowed down. But the elk bull did not take kindly to being disturbed during mating season. He turned around to face the car and suddenly started running.
"Hey, you trying to make time with my cow? Huh? HUH?"
"He came towards me at top speed," said Hans Paulsen, who stopped the car and honked his horn in an attempt to scare off the advancing beast. But the animal had no intention of retreating. "When he was right in front of me he dropped his head. I pushed myself up against the side of the car and pulled my cap down over my eyes to protect them from shards of glass," said Paulsen.

The elk ran straight into the parked car. Having smashed the windscreen with its face, the animal rolled over and lay down to die, Ljusdals-Posten reports.

Hans Paulsen survived the attack unharmed. His car however was left needing extensive repair work.

Should teachers be allowed to pack a gun?
From the Christian Science Monitor 9/18/2007

Ashland, Ore. - In court documents, she's known as "Jane Doe." Innocuous enough, but the woman behind that pseudonym pushes one of the nation's hottest political buttons: guns and school safety.

What Ms. Doe wants to do is take her Glock 9-mm pistol to the high school in Medford, Ore., where she teaches.

She's licensed to carry a concealed weapon and she has what many supporters say is a legitimate reason for being armed: a restraining order against her ex-husband based on threats he's allegedly made against her and her children.

But district policy prohibits anyone except a law-enforcement officer from bringing a weapon onto campus. When word got out that she had a concealed-carry permit, administrators reminded her of that policy. There's the political rub: According to state law, "any element relating to firearms and components thereof, including ammunition, is vested solely in the Legislative Assembly."

Backed by gun-rights groups, Doe intends to challenge the school district in state court this week. Meanwhile throughout the country, lawmakers are filing bills that would make it legal for adult school employees to carry firearms, in some cases providing special weapons safety training for those who want to be part of their school's security force in addition to their classroom teaching duties.

Gun-rights groups and school boards around the country are paying close attention to the Oregon case.

"There's a specific state statute that prohibits local governments, including school districts, from passing laws or policies prohibiting people from owning or possessing firearms," says James Leuenberger, the Portland, Ore., lawyer representing the teacher.

"Jane Doe," who agreed to be interviewed by phone on condition of anonymity, says she does not want to be viewed as an "Annie Oakley." Trying to extricate herself from an abusive relationship led her to buy her first gun just a few years ago, she says. Prior to that she had not been an activist in defense of the US Constitution's Second Amendment provision regarding "the right to keep and bear arms."

But as a veteran teacher, she has come to believe strongly that having responsible armed adults on campus could have prevented tragedies such as those at Columbine High School in Colorado, Thurston High School in Oregon, and Virginia Tech University last April.

"I have no doubt at all that any time a criminal has gone into a school intending to commit violence they did so knowing nobody was going to be able to stop them," she says. "We've seen what happens when teachers do nothing or can do nothing, and that's not acceptable to me."

According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, 37 states have laws specifically banning guns at schools. In general, administrators, teachers' organizations, and law-enforcement agencies favor such laws. In the confusion of a school shooting, police officials have said, adding guns to the situation just makes the predicament more dangerous.

The state panel investigating the April 16 shootings by a mentally disturbed student who killed 33 people at Virginia Tech University (the nation's deadliest school shooting) agrees.

"If numerous people had been rushing around with handguns … the possibility of accidental or mistaken shootings would have increased significantly," the panel wrote.

But that has not stopped a push by the NRA and other gun advocates to allow guns on school property as a safety measure.

In Michigan last week, 16 state lawmakers sponsored legislation allowing teachers, administrators, and other school employees to carry concealed weapons on school property. Ohio has a similar bill pending.South Carolina, Alabama, and Virginia are among several other states that have considered lifting school campus gun bans this year, according to Stateline.org, which tracks state issues.

Louisiana lawmakers refused to pass a bill that would have outlawed guns in college dormitories, and legislators in Maine similarly killed a bill that would have given colleges the authority to prohibit guns on campuses.

Anthony Stavros, a member of the Nevada State Board of Regents governing higher education and a Las Vegas police captain, has proposed deputizing university employees as reserve officers, trained and qualified to carry weapons. The Iowa Board of Regents is close to allowing campus police to be armed.

But efforts to allow guns in grade schools and high schools tend not to get very far in state legislatures. The South Carolina measure failed. Administrators and the state teachers' union in Michigan have voiced strong opposition to the proposal there.

So far, just one state - Utah - allows concealed weapons on campus. Utah's law applies to public colleges and universities. The University of Utah opposed the 2004 legislation that allows weapons on campus (including those owned by students with concealed carry permits), but lost in the state supreme court.

For high school teacher "Jane Doe," who takes her case to court this week, the issue is very personal.

"I have two children in school," she says, "and I would like to think that if something like that ever happened, there would be somebody there to do the right thing to protect my kids."

#1  If she's got a CCW, she is allowed to carry, regardless of district policy. The school district doesn't make the law, their rules are more like "suggestions", and unenforceable.

Yes, they'd probably fire her if they found out, but she could then sue the pants off of them.

#2  Sorry, it doesn't work that way.

I have a valid CCW in Oregon, and my employer does not allow firearms on the worksite (most don't).

If I want to keep my job, I don't bring it on campus.

However, when I go visit my wife (who is a teacher) at her school, I freely carry. Go figure

Women fight for right to bare breasts
I figured that this was a great story to start your day off. The article is from Sweden.

Two female students are demanding their rights after they were banned from bathing topless at a swimming pool in Uppsala. If girls are forced to wear bikinis, boys should be too, one of the women told The Local.

Ragnhild Karlsson, 22, and her friend Kristin Karlsson, 21, live on the same corridor in a student residence in the university town. On September 5th they took a trip to the Fyrishov leisure complex, where they decided to hop in for a swim without their bikini tops.

Though the pool was full of swimmers, a female lifeguard eventually caught sight of the bare-breasted women and reached for her whistle.

"We had been swimming for a while without anybody paying us any attention when the guards called us to the side and told us to either put on a top or leave. So we left," Ragnhild Karlsson told The Local.

On Wednesday, the two women sent a letter to the Equal Opportunities Ombudsman explaining that they saw no reason for men an women to be treated differently. If anything, a bikini top could be accused of drawing unnecessary attention to a woman's breasts.

"It's a question of equality. I think it's a problem that women are sexualized in this way. If women are forced to wear a top, shouldn't men also have to?"

The two friends said they were surprised when they were approached by the lifeguards.

"We thought it was against the law to treat people differently," said Ragnhild Karlsson, who is studying to be a speech therapist. Her friend Kristin aims to practice occupational therapy.

Staff at the pool later referred to studies showing that crimes of a sexual nature were particularly common in swimming pool environments.

"Surely women should be allowed to decide for themselves whether they need protecting. And is it not strange that women should somehow bear responsibily for sex crimes carried out by men," said Ragnhild Karlsson.

But a spokeswoman for the leisure complex stood by their decision not to allow the women to bathe topless.

"Swimming pools generally require men to wear swimming trunks and women to wear either bikinis or one piece swimsuits," Inger Grotteblad told The Local.

"There are three reasons for this. First, there is a security aspect, then there is a hygiene issue and finally there is what we call 'prevailing manners and customs'. It is above all this last point which is important here," she added.

She also pointed out that the swimming complex always needed to bear in mind the preferences of its guests.

"We have a lot of visitors here, ranging from families with children to the elderly. We also have people from different ethnic backgrounds. We want all of them to be able to enjoy themselves when they come here.

"This issue is new to us and we welcome the debate. It is important that everybody gets to voice their opinion, from families with children to naturists, older people and Muslim women. We have asked our governing body to look into this and hope they will come back to us with recommendations," said Grotteblad.

Believe it or not, male soldiers are required to wear T-shirts going from their quarters to latrines and shower units in Iraq. Bare chested joggers are also a rarety.

It's because the personal is political, as you know. Two drones following their duty on the frontlines of the Culture war, perhaps not even doing this on purpose, just because it's in the cultural environment. Always forward pressure.

Flaming bag hurled at John Howard's residence
A MAN has been arrested after a flaming shoulder bag was thrown over the fence of the Prime Minister's Sydney residence, Kirribilli House.

Local police were called at 11.48am (AEST) after the man allegedly ignited the woven cotten bag and threw it over the gate, a NSW police spokeswoman said. The fire was extinguished by AFP protective services personnel who detained the man, reportedly aged 33, until NSW Police arrived. He was taken into custody and was being questioned at North Sydney police station.

No one was injured during the incident and there was no damage to Kirribilli House. A large scorch mark was reportedly visible on concrete near a sandstone wall surrounding the grounds.

Mr Howard was in Canberra at the time of the incident. His office was unable to comment when contacted by NEWS.com.au.

Today’s incident wasn’t the first test of security near the residence during Mr Howard’s tenure. In May last year, a large power boat ran onto the rocks at Kirribilli Point. And in June 2005, a man armed with a knife was arrested after trying to throw a different “lit package” over the fence.

In 2002, a man on the run from police managed to climb over the fence and into the grounds.

Kirribilli House has been used as the official Sydney residence for Australian Prime Ministers since 1956. John Howard has lived at Kirribilli House since he was elected Primi Minister in 1996, shunning the official residence - The Lodge - in Canberra.

Fatwa against Salman for attending puja
NEW DELHI: A Muslim organisation has issued a fatwa against Salman Khan for attending a Ganesh puja. On Tuesday night, the actor was present at the aarti performed by singer Sonu Nigam at the Lalbaugcha Raja mandal, Mumbai's most iconic sarvajanik Ganesh mandal. His visit was widely publicised on television.

Stating that Islam prohibits idol worship, the Bareilly-based Daarul-Ifta-Manjar-e-Islam has said that unless Salman reads the kalmas all over again, he will not be considered Muslim. The kalmas are the Islamic credo, constituting a declaration of belief that God is one and Mohammed is his prophet.

Salman, who is out on bail in the Chinkara poaching case, also celebrated Ganesh mahostav with his family in Bandra. The Khan family brought home a Ganesh idol for one-and-a-half days. Matching steps with step-mom Helen, and with his nephew hoisted over his shoulders, the actor was among the group who danced in the procession en route to immersing the idol.

Salam's father Salim Khan reacted strongly to the news of the fatwa: "If these are Muslims then I don't want to be called a Muslim. I want to know how these people are qualified to issue a fatwa against my son. I don't think people who have issued a fatwa against Salman have anything to do with Islam; they don't even know their religion well. Don't they know that the Koran says ' sab ka khuda ek '?

"My family is a cosmopolitan family with members from practically every religion living under one roof. What has my son done? He has gone for an aarti which is not wrong at all. Such issues don't even come up for discussion in our house. All I can say is that a fanatic Hindu and a fanatic Muslim only thrive and live on hatred and it is their hatred towards us that they express through such fatwas.''
Good on you, Dad. You tell 'em. And have the neighbor's kid start your car tomorrow.
Zeenat Shaukat Ali, who teaches Islamic studies at St Xavier's College in Mumbai, dismissed the controversy as a "non-issue''. "What Salman did was his personal choice,'' she said. "The Koran clearly says two things: you to your religion and me to mine; and secondly, there is no compulsion in religion. Therefore, the fatwa is the Bareilly maulvi's personal opinion and Muslims are not bound to follow it.''
This professor clearly received the wrong curriculum this semester.

Orissa for Islamic laws for Muslim women
Distressed Muslim women in Orissa [India] may not get any help from the law against domestic violence as the Orissa Government likes to follow Islamic laws in their cases. The state Government would like to go by Islamic laws as “we need not enter into controversies by entertaining cases relating to Muslim women,” Women and Child Development Minister Pramilla Mallick said on Monday.
Boggle.
Mallick said the Government faced opposition from the Muslim community when it tried to intervene when one Nazma Bibi’s husband wanted to withdraw talaq given in an inebriated state in Bhadrak last year. “The Government faced ire of the Muslims by trying to help Nazma Bibi.” Admitting that a large number of Muslim women also face violence, she said “what can we do? With Nazma’s experience, we will like to take steps with adequate precaution”.

#1  Iff I remember corrrectly, believe it was HAARETZ that has an article on a female Muslim celebrity's new film depicting the pervasive rape and murder of Muslim women in their society??? Article also indics that over 40% of female Muslim respondents to a survey/poll indic they had been raped andor humiliated by Muslim men.

#2  I'm shocked they'd admit rape, even in a survey. but humilated is a daily thing. I remember being shocked the first time I saw my neighbors 8 year old son snap his fingers at her and order her to get him tea, granted I was in the ME, but at least ask nicely. I fussed and said his mom was tired and he should take care of himself, but being the silly American, I was ignored.....
And that was a really nice family....
back to work....

#4  Ironically, fast or slow, a principle I mentioned still holds true: much time, effort, energy and money can be saved by sending construction robots to the Moon and Mars first.

NASA has a bad habit of not planning to exploit their successes in the future. Every landing mission should be planned to include building on previous missions. Every piece of equipment that gets there should be used over and over again--with nothing discarded.

Robots digging tunnels means a permanent base with a lot more functionality than having to send up a complete habitat every time. And the more costs are kept down, the more frequent and better the missions. And people there or not, the robots continue to improve the base until they need repair and spare parts.

And once robots are there, they press on, even if a Democrat president or Congress doesn't want to fund any more manned missions for a decade. So by the time astronauts do go back, they have lots and lots of new tunnels waiting for them. Some maybe filled with harvested lunar or Martian water ice.
