Kremlin Propagandists: Ukraine Artillery is Winning, Russia Guns Getting Taken Out – a Lot
[Kyiv Post] If the Kremlin’s most outspoken military advocates are to believed, the Ukrainian artillery is pounding its Russian counterpart to bits. Inexorably. One described the situation as "awful."

Ukrainian gunners operating technically-superior cannon have gained a powerful battlefield advantage and are inexorably reducing the Russian army’s mortars, howitzers, and rocket artillery systems to scrap with something approaching impunity, Russian military bloggers are saying.

Russian "war correspondent" Vladimir Rogov, a Moscow-supported journalist in lockstep with the Kremlin since its Feb. 24 invasion of Ukraine, in a Sept. 6 essay explaining the Russian army’s recent loss of the tactically-important southern front village of Robotyne explained to readers that Moscow’s troops fought hard, but the unpleasant truth is the Russian army — at least at the moment — has no counter to a Ukrainian military armed with superior artillery.

"The main problem is the counter-battery fight. Here, the enemy has a better position, his equipment is more modern and long-range, which directly affects the intensity of shelling (both sides are capable of) in a battle...The situation is difficult."

Military commentator Aleksandr Khodakovsky, an outspoken supporter of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, in Sept. 7 comments on recent successful Ukrainian counterattacks in another southern sector near the town Velyka Novosilka, said Kyiv’s troops were preceding assaults with devastating bombardments fired from outside the range of Russian artillery which is left unable to answer.

The Russians Are Getting Better
[Foreign Affairs] What Moscow Has Learned in Ukraine

Ukraine’s summer counteroffensive has moved more slowly than many of the country’s allies and supporters had hoped. The Ukrainian military has proved remarkably adept at rapidly incorporating new capabilities and technologies into its operations, fighting bravely and for the most part effectively against an enemy with superior numbers, little regard for its own losses, and no regard for the laws of war. Even so, progress has been gradual, and every piece of liberated territory has come at an immense cost. Only after three months of grueling combat has Ukraine started to make more significant progress, penetrating some of Russia’s entrenched defensive lines in the country’s southeast and reclaiming territory in the provinces of Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk.

Some analysts have attributed the counteroffensive’s slow pace to the challenges of successfully executing joint military maneuvers or coordinating artillery, infantry, and airpower. Others have questioned whether the training the United States and NATO have provided—focused on conducting fast offensive operations rather than wearing the Russian military down through attrition—was well suited to the type of enemy and war the Ukrainians are fighting. Still others have argued that Kyiv’s Western allies have been too slow to provide weapons and equipment, which delayed the Ukrainian counteroffensive and allowed Russia to fortify its positions and mine large swaths of contested territory. Finally, the Ukrainian military is not a NATO-style force, and the armed forces’ legacy and doctrine remains, in part, beholden to the Soviet military when it comes to the way it organizes, mobilizes, and sustains itself. Although this is not necessarily a weakness, it does require that Ukraine’s Western allies reconsider what types of weapons, equipment, and training would enable Ukraine to fight the way it fights best.

#1  Always offensive. Exhausting all resources. Defensive action would have prolonged their efforts. So now all the money and support is spent. Time for Biden to do his Afghanistan ploy. Ukrainians failed to listen to western advise. Let Russia deal with the Ukrainian mess and NATO. New DC efforts focused on China. Always war here and there everywhere.

#3  Keep Cope Alive dear "2nd Army in the world".

Ukraine could break through rest of Russia's defensive lines by end of the year.
Mr Maul (DIA) described the recent gains as “significant”, before telling the Economist there was a “realistic possibility” of breaching the rest of the lines, a turn of phrase that suggests a 40-50 per cent likelihood in the intelligence world.

Last week General Oleksandr Tarnavskiy, the leader of Ukraine’s southern counter-offensive, said Russia had devoted 60 per cent of its time and resources to building the first line of defence in the belief Kyiv would never breach it.

#4  So far Russians are doing what Peter Zeihan predicted - start with a total disaster, then throw bodies at the problem. In about 18 months we'll know if he was all the way right. Russia will be down 500k soldiers and may have to call it quits.

'Two grenades at the window, two grenades at the door, and then you go in and finish off' - ex-mercenaries of Wagner PMC about Prigozhin's criminal orders.
[X] "Two grenades at the window, two grenades at the door, and then you go in and finish off" - ex-mercenaries of Wagner PMC about Prigozhin’s criminal orders.

Maksim Zelenov and Aleksey Chernyavsky are former prisoners who were recruited into the Wagner PMC last November. Together with other mercenaries, they were sent to clean up a village near Soledar in Donetsk region.

Their command and Prigozhin himself gave criminal orders to the "Wagnerites" - to throw grenades at residential buildings and kill civilian women and children. After that, Maksim and Aleksey fled the PMC camp and hid for more than 8 months.

Only after the death of Prigozhin they dared to tell the founder of Gulagu net resource, @Vlad_Osechkin, about these war crimes. (Video)

#2  Hey Abu, tossing a grenade before entring a building is SOP in fighting in build up area - at least, it was in my IDF basic 40+ years ago.
I don't know how it became a war crime.

#5  If you watched the video, he and his team murdered at least 40 civilians in just one apt building on the orders of Prigozhin to "clean" Soledar.

This isn't the first time. Earlier this year two other Wagner convicts revealed atrocities they commuted in Soledar.

"I shot a 5-year-old in the head": Wagner convicts confess to killing children in Bakhmut and Soledar
Quote from Uldarov: "I carried out the order with this very hand, I killed children. You understand, by order. The fact that we… We were given an order to mop up and kill everyone… We went there and we killed everyone – women, men, pensioners and children, including little ones, five-year-olds."

The terrorists said the command to mop up Bakhmut came from Prigozhin. He ordered that no one should be spared – neither elderly people nor children. All were to be killed. In Soledar, he said, it was even worse.

Uldarov also said he had "mopped up" the basement of a nine-storey building in Bakhmut where there were 300-400 civilians, 40 of whom were children. He added that he "had no choice" and that he had an order to kill everyone.

The terrorist stated that this happened in March 2023.

Quote from Savichev: "Civilians were coming outside. And the order was: everyone aged 15 and over – all of them were to be shot on sight. 20-24 people were shot, 10 of them were teenagers aged 15 and 17."

Asked how many unarmed civilians they had killed in February 2023, Savichev replied that 15-year-old Ukrainians "can hardly be called civilians".

Both former Wagner unit commanders also said that Prigozhin had personally given the criminal orders for the executions and killing.

#8  Eldest son was a sapper in the 173rd in the late unpleasantness. Was the designated door blower on a bunch of raids. Said the bad guys got to where they hid in the back of a room under a mattress or somesuch, and start firing through the door a few seconds after the blast.
Then he realized you didn't necessarily have to use the breaching chain on the door. It works just as well on random walls.
Knock knock.

#9  I highly doubt we had 400 "civilians" in Solendar March 2023. Let alone women and children. Look at any satellite image of the city and you will see it was reduced to rubble come March 2023. Pull up a map and circle the apartment. You cant. Because that apartment doesnt exist.

Here's a BBC article from Jan 2023 that shows the extent of the city's destruction.

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: September 7th, 2023
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title

[Korrespondent] 23:01 There is no confirmed evidence that depleted uranium munitions carry health risks, said Deputy Pentagon Speaker Sabrina Singh: "The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said there is no evidence that depleted uranium munitions cause cancer. World the health organization reports that no increase in leukemia or other cancers has been found following any exposure to uranium or depleted uranium, and even the IAEA has stated unequivocally that there is no proven link between exposure to depleted uranium and an increase in cancer or significant effects for health or the environment."

According to Singh, the munitions are moderately radioactive because they are made of a dense metal - a by-product of the production of fuel for nuclear power plants. "Many militaries around the world use depleted uranium in their tanks," she added.

22:47 The successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporozhye region forced the West to change their forecasts about the Ukrainian counteroffensive to more optimistic ones. In an interview with The Economist, Trent Mol, director of analysis for the US Defense Intelligence Agency, said there was a 40-50% chance of a Russian defense penetration by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Read more in the material Forecast of the counteroffensive .

21:58 The United States is allocating a new $600 million aid package to Ukraine , Deputy Pentagon Speaker Sabrina Singh said. The package will include, in particular, ammunition for HIMARS and artillery, electronic warfare equipment, demining equipment, technical support and air defense integration services. The United States also intends to transfer depleted uranium shells to Ukraine by the time the Abrams tanks are delivered, which should arrive in the fall.

According to the Pentagon, the total amount of US military assistance to Ukraine during the Biden presidency has exceeded $44.4 billion, and since the beginning of the Russian invasion - $43.7 billion.

21:52 Governor of the Bryansk region Alexander Bogomaz announced a drone attack on an "industrial facility" in Bryansk, an administrative building caught fire, no one was injured. The Russian Defense Ministry claims that air defense systems allegedly intercepted two UAVs over Bryansk, one of them was destroyed in the air.

21:14 Zaluzhny said that he had a telephone conversation with the head of the Joint Staff of the French Armed Forces, Thierry Burkar: "We discussed the situation in the combat zone. He spoke in detail about all the directions where our defense and offensive operations are taking place. We dwelled separately on the needs of the Ukrainian troops and on the issue of training our military personnel in France."

20:51 Zelensky said that he had a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, discussed possible ways for Israel to support Ukraine in resisting the Russian invasion. The president also raised the issue of increasing the number of refusals to Ukrainian citizens to enter Israel and the issue of the safety of Hasidic pilgrims who come to Uman to celebrate the Jewish New Year - Rosh Hashanah.

19:48 In the occupied Oleshki, Kherson region, a car exploded with two FSB officers and military men who tortured Ukrainians, the UP reports, citing sources in the SBU. As a result of the explosion, one FSB officer died on the spot, the second is in intensive care in a serious condition. Three Russian soldiers accompanying the car were wounded.

19:44 About 25,000 Ukrainian civilians are considered missing under special circumstances, that is, they can be hostages or be held captive, Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets said. He added that virtually every day the Russians detain civilians in the temporarily occupied territories, adding to this list.

19:31 The United States will transfer 190 anti-mine vehicles to Ukraine to protect against MRAP ambush, US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink said. She said that she was present together with Blinken and his deputy Victoria Nuland at a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. They handed over the first MRAPs to Ukrainian border guards and police.

Eight private houses, outbuildings, cars were damaged. In addition, in the evening, the enemy fired at the Pokrovskaya community of the Sinelnikovsky district, the consequences are being specified.

18:56 Zelensky said that he had a conversation with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, discussed the situation on the battlefield, defense cooperation, bilateral agreements, as well as the situation in the Black Sea and the Ukrainian contribution to protecting freedom of navigation and food security. “Much has been done. But with the strengthening of air defense to protect the Odessa region, we will be able to do even more,” the president added.

18:37 Blinken visited the village of Yagodnoe in the Chernihiv region, where the Russians kept several hundred local residents, including children, in the school basement during the occupation. According to the US State Department press service, Blinken said that he was most struck by the horrific consequences of Russian aggression against Ukraine.

17:54 Budanov believes that the situation with the exchange of prisoners of all for all "is not as difficult as it seems," but so far the Russian Federation is creating "certain technical difficulties." "But we will overcome this. We just need to find the right ways to resolve this moment," the head of the GUR added.

17:26 Russia has withdrawn almost all of its units from Belarus as part of the rotation, Andrei Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Service, said. New divisions in the Republic of Belarus were not started. Demchenko recalled that the Russian Federation uses Belarus as a platform for training its units, and there were periodically Russian military personnel in the amount of 10-11 thousand people. That is, the Russian Federation today does not have a grouping for the invasion from Belarus to the territory of Ukraine, the speaker added.

Demchenko also said that the number of Wagnerites in Belarus is gradually decreasing. They are not involved in any active actions, in particular, destabilization of the situation on the border with Ukraine or the EU countries.

16:48 On the second day of his stay in Ukraine, Blinken said that he had visited the positions of Ukrainian border guards. He was shown U.S.-provided surveillance drones and four MRAP vehicles, as well as several downed Russian drones. According to CNN, the visit was on the outskirts of Kyiv.

16:14 Kiev handed over to Ankara a proposal to resume the work of the grain corridor without Russia, Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey Vasily Bodnar said. According to him, there are no restrictions for ships passing along the corridor through the territorial waters of Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey.

16:12 Elon Musk secretly turned off Starlink off the coast of Crimea last year to thwart Ukraine's naval drone attack on the Russian Navy, CNN reports. According to the publication, drones filled with explosives had already approached the Russian fleet, but suddenly "lost contact and washed ashore." Musk's decision was prompted by fears that Russia would respond to Ukraine's attack on Crimea with nuclear weapons. The Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Mikhail Fedorov persuaded Musk to restore the connection.

16:07 Russian publics write that the drone attacked the Volgograd region for the first time - the target was a military unit in the Gorodishchensky district. According to them, the drone was intercepted a few kilometers before the target.

15:40 As a result of the Russian blowing up the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, Ukraine has lost 35-40% of its fresh water reserves, which could be consumed within a year, said the general director of Ukrhydroenergo, Ihor Syrota. According to him, before the dam was blown up, there were 18.6 million cubic meters in the reservoir. km of water, and now only 3-3.5 million cubic meters remain in the Dnieper channel. km.

15:29 Soldiers of the Steel Border of the Offensive Guard raised the Ukrainian flag in the settlements of Stroevka and Topoli of the Kharkiv region, located on the border with the Russian Federation in the so-called gray zone, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported. After the de-occupation, it was dangerous to enter this territory due to mines, but now the border guards have paved the way and raised the State flag of Ukraine.

15:07 Ukraine has started exporting grain through Croatian ports, Minister of Economy Yulia Sviridenko said: "This trade route, although niche, is already popular. We are ready to develop it, expanding the possibilities of the transport corridor."

14:42 Director of the analytical department of the Pentagon Intelligence Agency Trent Moll believes that the recent successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine suggest a "realistic possibility" of breaking through the rest of the Russian defense lines before the end of the year, although this will be extremely difficult. He acknowledged that US and Ukrainian officials failed to appreciate the depth of Russian defenses. In addition, Mol warns that a significant part of the Russian fortifications remains on the third line.

In his opinion, two critical indicators are extremely important: the Ukrainian stock of ammunition and the weather in autumn. Pentagon intelligence also believes that if Ukraine can expand the salient around Rabotino, hold its ground and secure a supply of ammunition, it will be well prepared for a new breakthrough in 2024.

14:30 Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in Ukraine, 242 people have died from explosive objects, another 498 have been injured, said Nikolai Didyk, deputy head of the department for organizing pyrotechnic work of the State Emergency Service. He specified that the list of victims includes 76 children, 13 of whom died.

According to the State Emergency Service, 30% of the territory of Ukraine is now contaminated with explosive objects - this is 174 thousand square meters. km, of which 13.5 thousand square meters. km - water area of water bodies. Pyrotechnicians have already examined 93 thousand hectares of contaminated territories and 7.5 thousand hectares of water area. 427,000 explosive items have been identified and defused, including anti-personnel mines, cluster munitions, and remotely placed mines.

14:23 In Ukraine, from October 1, female doctors and pharmacists are required to be registered with the military. The presidential representative in parliament, Fyodor Venislavsky, said that such women would be restricted from traveling abroad: “If they are registered, they will receive the status of those liable for military service. some documents giving the right to temporary exit - then yes, they will be able to leave. If not, then they, like men, will be limited in their right to leave."

At the same time, he added that representatives of other specialties can register voluntarily, and they do not plan to expand the list of specialties yet.

13:52 The Russians hit the Zaporozhye region in the morning - a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged, people were not injured, said the head of the OVA, Yuri Malashko. A fire started at the impact site, specialists are working there.

13:30 Russian forces are forming a "shock fist" in the Kupyansk direction from hundreds of thousands of military men, but they have problems with equipment, Ilya Yevlash, spokesman for the Eastern Group of Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said: "Each time we record a lack of equipment. And sources such as Oryx record the knocking out of tanks T-55, that is, we can conclude that it is really difficult with equipment, and we can judge the effectiveness of our artillery and counter-battery units, which daily destroy the artillery of the occupiers."

13:24 Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said from the rostrum of the parliament that by the end of the year Ukraine should find 251 billion hryvnias for payments to the military: "I will ask for 251 billion, of which 227 billion for cash allowances for October-December, 24 billion for a one-time financial aid."

13:14 Zelensky introduced the new Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov and outlined the tasks facing him: "We need a new subjectivity of the Ministry of Defense. This is the ministry that is responsible for coordinating the entire defense sector. The Ukrainian soldier is a key priority of the defense forces. If changes are necessary for the good of the soldier in the activities of the defense forces, then such changes must be instantaneous. This applies to everything from bureaucratic procedures that take up the time and energy of soldiers, to the provision of our soldiers.Everything that can be digitized should be digitized.Everything that can save a life and the health of soldiers, must be found and supplied to the Ukrainian troops. We need a new philosophy of attitude towards Ukrainian soldiers: people are not consumables. Their time and strength are the value of the state."

In addition, according to the President, more trust is needed: "Trust in the decisions made, trust in ongoing purchases, trust in the delivery that is planned and carried out, and trust in communication between units and the links of the Ukrainian defense system they need."

12:39 On the day of military intelligence of Ukraine, Zelensky awarded the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Major General Kirill Budanov, the rank of lieutenant general.

12:17 During the shelling of Odradokamenka, Kherson region, one person was killed, two more were injured as a result of an attack by a Russian drone, the IVA reported.

11:31 As a result of a night attack in the Odessa region, two people were injured, the Office of the Prosecutor General specified.

11:28 NATO has no evidence that the fall of the wreckage of the Russian UAV on the territory of Romania could be a deliberate attack by the Russian Federation, Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said: "The Romanian authorities confirmed that the wreckage from the UAV was found. They informed NATO allies yesterday, the investigation is underway. We have no information about a deliberate attack by Russia."

11:26 Two generals responsible for Moscow's air defense have been arrested in Russia, Russian media write. They are allegedly suspected of allocating lands of the RF Ministry of Defense in the near Moscow region for sale for residential development for a bribe of 30 million rubles. Konstantin Ogiyenko, commander of the 1st Special Purpose Anti-Aircraft and Anti-Missile Defense Army, which is responsible for the direct defense of Moscow, and Dmitry Belyatsky, commander of an air defense division in this army, were arrested. Ohiyenko denies his guilt and is in jail, while Byalyatsky made a deal with the investigation and was placed under house arrest.

11:22 According to updated information, as a result of yesterday's strike on Konstantinovka, Donetsk region, 16 people were killed, 33 more were injured. As of now, the bodies of all the dead have been identified, except for one, the Interior Ministry said.

11:19 In Odradokamenka, Kherson region, a man was wounded, on whom the Russians dropped explosives from a drone, the IVA reported.

10:43 In the occupied territories of the Zaporozhye region, about 3,000 people, or 1% of the population, are cooperating with Russia during preparations for the pseudo-elections, Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov said. According to him, the lists of collaborators will be handed over to the Ukrainian special services. Fedorov also noted that 48 of the 60 so-called "candidates" from the United Russia party are not local residents, but came from Siberia and Altai.

10:02 The "authorities" of the occupied Zaporozhye region said that Ukrainian drones allegedly attacked Energodar.

09:19 In the Zaporozhye region during the past day, as a result of the artillery shelling of Stepnogorsk, one person was killed, one was wounded. During the shelling of Preobrazhenka, one person was injured, and two people were injured as a result of a missile attack on Taurida. Two more people were wounded in Zaporozhye, said the head of the OVA, Yuriy Malashko.

09:16 In the near future, the United States will send another batch of cluster munitions to Ukraine, writes The New York Times. The Biden administration explained that this should help Ukraine maintain the momentum that the troops have gained in the southern direction. The newspaper notes that Ukrainian forces are increasingly relying on heavy artillery to lay the groundwork for infantry advances. Recently, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been firing up to 8,000 artillery shells daily, including hundreds of cluster munitions.

09:11 The State Department clarified that $1 billion of declared assistance to Ukraine will include $5.4 million of assets confiscated from Russian sanctioned oligarchs. They will be used to support and rehabilitate veterans. In general, this assistance package includes:

  • $175 million for air defense system components, missiles for HIMARS, munitions, ammunition, and communications systems;

  • 100 million for long-term military needs;

  • 90.5 million for humanitarian assistance for demining;

Similarly, three assault detachments of the 37th Infantry Regiment, under the cover of massive artillery cluster munition fire, attacked the landings northwest and west of Novodonetsk, where they immediately tried to equip strongholds, which were subsequently destroyed.

At the moment, Ukrainian artillerymen are massively artillery attack the front line, and detachments of the 35th Infantry Regiment have been moved to Zolotoy Niva, which indicates preparations for a new wave of offensive.

Yesterday morning, units of the 131st Reconnaissance Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine landed three dozen people in the north of Pereyaslavsky (Kozatsky) Island in two groups from Ol'govka and Kozatsky.

DRG moved inland to create a foothold: it is necessary for a subsequent strike on Novaya Kakhovka. The enemy did not expect opposition from the Russian troops in the Dnieper Delta.

Russian units advanced to the landing area in advance after receiving intelligence information. Therefore, the Ukrainian units waited: first, mines were detonated remotely, and then the reconnaissance groups of the RF Armed Forces, which were in ambush, with the support of mortars and tanks from the left bank, started a battle.

Panic began in the ranks of 131 Reconnaissance Battalion: the assault troops fled to the north of the island, leaving the wounded and dead. On the shore, the groups took up all-round defense in anticipation of evacuation.

The boat, which followed the ambushed forces of 131 Reconnaissance Battalion, was hit first by artillery, and then by a drone - the boat was flooded off the coast. Another boat hit a mine northwest of the island. In addition, Russian gunners destroyed one pickup truck with three people, which was carrying an evacuation group to the pier from Otradokamenka.

12:20 FSB officers found in Dokuchaevsk (DPR) a cache of weapons and ammunition.

It contained 39 AK-74M assault rifles, a Dragunov sniper rifle, a Vladimirov tank heavy machine gun, a Kalashnikov machine gun, two Shmel infantry rocket launchers, two RPG-7V grenade launchers and 12 high-explosive fragmentation rounds of 30mm caliber, as well as cartridges.

10:47 An explosion occurred in the Kyiv-controlled city of Zaporozhye, local Telegram channels report. An air alert has been declared in the region, as well as in a number of other regions.

10:30 Circumstancein the South-Donetsk direction:

In the Vremevsky sector, the enemy launched several reckless attacks during the night and morning on forest belts in the gray zone north of Novomayorskoye-Novodonetskoye. Didn't have any success. Then the units of the Russian Armed Forces began to stop the wedging in the gray zone between the two settlements.

Of the two forest belts where the enemy was able to gain a foothold on the first day, at the moment one is completely cleared. According to the marines of the 40th Brigade, the infantry of the Armed Forces of Ukraine suffered very heavy losses from our artillery during the night.

The words of one of the fighters: “it’s easy to adjust the artillery along the front line, everything flies exactly to the places where they tried to gain a foothold; now they are retreating with huge losses; we wonder why they bury themselves in these forest belts and fields; humanly, they are simply pitiful.” Several timid attempts by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to cross the Shaitanka were also thwarted by company heavy weapons.

Naval infantry themselves hold the front, the Kamchatka Guards did not retreat from a single defensive position. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are trying to compensate for the lack of their own advancement with massive artillery attack and the use of a large number of FPV drones.

In the Staromlynovka-Kermenchik sector and to the west of Novodonetskoye, artillery shelling, including cluster munitions, has become more frequent. The enemy here is trying to pull out his KIAs and wounded (sometimes the evacuation teams themselves fill the ranks of the first and second), regrouping for new attacks. The enemy is withdrawing units of the 35th Infantry Regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Zolotoy Niva closer to the front line, preparing to throw through the gray zone to Novodonetskoye.

On the western flank, the 5th Army holds positions north of Priyutnoye, recaptured from the Ukrainian Armed Forces a week ago.

Yesterday the enemy made an attempt to move units of the 127th Motorized Rifle Division, but had no success, lost people and presented prisoners.

On the Ugledar site, no changes. No active actions of the enemy have been revealed, he continues to fire at the positions of the RF Armed Forces in Pavlovka, Nikolskoye and to the east. Our answer is the same.

10:20 Tankers of the 150th Motorized Rifle Division enter the line of contact in Maryinka, becoming a complete surprise for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and work out the entire conveyor against the enemy -video.

10:16 Russian Tarantas reports that it should become easier on the Vremievsky ledge in the coming days - according to radio interceptions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, manpower is taken from this direction and transferred to Zaporozhye to the ruins of Rabotny. Perhaps this explains the activity of artillery on the ledge - they compensate.

10:11 Ukrainians fired upon a residential building in Dnepryany, there were no casualties - the operational headquarters of the New Kakhovka Military Administration. As a result of an enemy arrival along 8 March Street, 1, windows in a residential building flew out, and the territory adjacent to it was damaged. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

'It will be a disaster.' Will Russia be left without a harvest in 2023?
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Oleg Krivoshapov

[REGNUM] Problems with fuel in several regions of Russia threaten to disrupt field work, said Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev . “ We need to solve this problem ... Now we will stop the harvest - and we will not be weeded out for winter crops. It will be a disaster , ”the head of the Ministry of Agriculture emphasized.

“A week ago, we were talking about the need for fuel and lubricants (fuel and lubricants) at some reduced price, because the price has risen a lot,” the minister recalled, speaking to deputies from two Duma committees - on agrarian issues and control.

Indeed, if three weeks ago a ton of diesel fuel in the Saratov region could cost 55 thousand rubles, now it is 72.2 thousand, wrote in the Telegram channel the Saratov United Russia deputy, a member of the State Duma Agrarian Committee Nikolai Pankov after the "price lawlessness" voters complained to him.

Now another, perhaps more serious problem, which Minister Patrushev could not fail to mention, has come to the fore. The problem is not only with the price of fuel, but also with its availability.

And if there is not enough fuel and lubricants, then this threatens to stop the harvest. Actually, the "catastrophe" that the head of the Ministry of Agriculture warned about.

The risk of fuel shortages at the end of the summer was also noted at gas stations.

In any case, in the last week of August, independent gas stations in the regions of the Siberian Federal District reported about running out of gasoline stocks, Kommersant reported . It was stated that in some regions the fuel stocks were estimated by market participants as sufficient for 5-7 days. However, on September 6, the same publication reported that, at least, at the gas stations of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and Khakassia, there was no longer a problem - which was reported in the Krasnoyarsknefteprodukt gas station network.

Why is this happening
“In addition to the rise in fuel prices on the exchange, as well as the gradual rise in price of both gasoline and diesel in retail, we see a certain deficit,” Igor Yushkov , an expert at the Financial University under the Government and the National Energy Security Fund, agreed in a commentary to IA Regnum . Moreover, judging by his words, the deficit was observed in the southern regions.

News about fuel shortages in August-September is a common thing, the expert noted. But the situation this year, according to him, is not quite normal. And it was the result of a combination of several factors.

“Prices for oil and oil products in foreign markets went up, and the ruble weakened, ” Yushkov lists. “ It turns out that these factors make it much more profitable to export oil and oil products than to supply them to the domestic market.”

Also played a role is what economists call the "damper mechanism", or simply "damper".

Its essence is as follows: if high prices for gasoline are established abroad, then the state encourages oil companies not to raise prices within the country. To do this, companies are paid from the budget part of the premium (that is, revenue), which they lose due to the fact that they do not raise prices. If the prices for gasoline inside the country are higher than export prices, the oilmen themselves transfer money to the budget.

In Russia, the “damper” has been operating since 2019, recalls the Russian edition of Forbes.

But now payments on the "damper" to oil companies are halved, and therefore they gradually began to look for opportunities to export more fuel, Yushkov said. Consequently, there is less fuel in the domestic market.

And the demand is growing.

This also applies to motor gasoline. After the “COVID” 2020, as Yushkov points out, the demand for automotive fuel has strengthened: people began to travel more in personal cars. In 2022, the closure of a number of airports was added to this. Road trips have become even more intense.

“There has always been an increase in demand for fuel in the summer, during the car season, and also because of the harvesting campaign, which “pulls” large volumes. But the demand is now especially strong, and the supply on the market has not yet adapted,” Yushkov notes.

Over the past year, another, extremely important reason for the particularly strong demand for "fuel" has appeared. “We understand that a special military operation requires a lot of fuel, primarily diesel ,” Yushkov said.

“Let's not forget that we have a very large consumer, the NWO zone, which is supplied in priority,” agrees Pavel Bazhenov, president of the Independent Fuel Union, in a comment to IA Regnum.

Another reason is logistics, experts say.

“ They simply don’t have time to deliver the fuel, ” Yushkov believes. - There is a very large demand, but Russian Railways is not in time somewhere, there is a certain downtime, because, in principle, the loading of railways is very large. At the same time, the railways have not yet fully adapted to the new logistical realities.”

“Now there are supply interruptions, logistical problems,” Bazhenov agrees and explains, “we have the main volume of fuel delivered by Russian Railways, and if earlier we had all the infrastructure focused on deliveries to the west, the main consumer was Europe and everyone else in that direction, but now these directions are changing to the south and east."

The situation in the southern direction, according to the expert, is generally a special issue.

“We have a very actively developed agricultural sector there, and in general the situation is complicated by a whole range of reasons, ” he says. “ There are also export flows along a thin railway line, and the tourist season plays a role, albeit to a lesser extent.”

But it is also obvious that in a special period, the issue of supplying the country with bread and other products (moreover, of its own production, and not exported) is especially acute and the likelihood of a “catastrophe” due to interruptions in fuel and lubricants becomes a very serious challenge.

What to do with it
The head of the Ministry of Agriculture, Patrushev, proposes a radical solution: to suspend the export of petroleum products until the situation stabilizes.

The fact is that only 50% of the fuel produced is used for domestic consumption, the rest is exported, Bazhenov explained. There is no underproduction of diesel in Russia, he added. On the contrary, its production is twice as much as consumption, so there is no shortage and is not expected, Bazhenov pointed out.

Consequently, we see a shortage of precisely "goods" for the domestic market.

But a complete suspension or, even more so, a ban on the export of motor fuel would be too drastic a step, experts say. What the authorities may well do is to ban the sale of fuel abroad to those firms that are not involved in the production of fuel, Bazhenov said.

"It was possible to observe the purchase of fuel on the stock exchange with subsequent export ," the interlocutor of IA Regnum explained . It is quite possible to "shorten" these dealers.

In fact, such measures are already being taken.

On September 6, Interfax reported that the Ministry of Energy had submitted to the government and presidential administration a draft decree banning the "gray" export of petroleum products. This document, which allows only refineries to export oil products, is in the final stage of approval.

In the meantime, the ministry assures that fuel companies are meeting the needs of farmers.

“We will be given this fuel as a priority,” First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut said on September 6.

Former Grain Deal News Roundup for September 7th, 2023
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
Kyiv set a condition for insurance of grain supplies

[Regnum] Kyiv was given a condition for insurance of grain deliveries. As it became known on September 7, the insurance company Lloyd's of London refused to provide its services if Ukraine does not provide a new corridor for this under the auspices of the UN.

According to Reuters, Lloyd's CEO John Neal said that the company would be ready to insure grain shipments from Ukrainian ports only if they establish international corridors similar to those in the grain deal, and the company is discussing this with UN representatives.

“In the absence of UN intervention and coordination with the UN, we do not authorize insurance,” the agency quoted him as saying.

At the same time, the head of another major insurance company, Beazley, Adrian Cox, confirmed to Reuters that the company insures the grain flights that Ukraine currently operates.

The grain deal between Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN was valid from July 22, 2022 to July 17, 2023. The Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly stated that there are no grounds for a further extension of the deal, since it has turned into a purely commercial export of food from Ukraine to “well-fed” countries. Russian President Vladimir Putin on July 13 allowed the suspension of Russia's participation in the grain deal, and on July 17 the Kremlin announced the suspension of Russia's participation in the grain deal.

Ukraine used the sea corridors intended for the grain deal to carry out terrorist attacks and sabotage against military and civilian facilities in Russia, noted, in turn, the Russian Foreign Ministry. Simultaneously with the suspension of the grain deal, the Ministry of Defense withdrew guarantees for the safety of navigation along the corresponding Black Sea corridor. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov noted that the Black Sea agreements have actually ceased to be valid.

Kyiv then announced its readiness to continue deliveries by land, but experts noted that then the cost of delivering Ukrainian products would increase markedly. On July 31 , Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba announced agreements with Croatia on the use of the country's ports on the Danube River and in the Adriatic Sea for grain transit, and on September 7, Ukraine announced the start of grain exports through Croatia.

Ukraine offered Turkey to resume the grain corridor without Russia

The Ukrainian authorities submitted to Turkey a proposal to reopen the grain corridor in the Black Sea without Russia's participation. This was announced on September 7 by the Ukrainian ambassador to Ankara Vasily Bodnar , his words were quoted by the Ukrinform agency.

“The proposal to operate a grain corridor without Russia has been submitted to the Turkish side,” he said.

Bondar complained that the Turkish side has not yet given a final answer on this issue. He also called such a possibility "a rational way", since, according to him, ships with grain are already sailing through the territorial waters of Romania, Bulgaria, and also Turkey.

As IA Regnum reported , on September 4, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi, announced that there were no effective replacements for the grain deal. He also expressed hope that a solution could be reached that would satisfy all parties in a short time.

The Turkish leader also indicated that he agrees with Putin that the Kiev authorities need to change their approach to Russia in order to extend the grain deal. He stressed that he considers Russia's expectations from this agreement to be fair.

In response, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that Kiev would not take such a step. In his opinion, the position of the Ukrainian authorities on this issue is fair.

The grain deal between Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN on the export of Ukrainian grain was valid from July 22, 2022 to July 17, 2023. The agreement was extended three times. At the same time, the West did not comply with the conditions of the Russian side - the removal of restrictions on the withdrawal of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers to the world market, which became the reason for Russia's withdrawal from the project.

Also, the Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly stated that there are no grounds for a further extension of the deal, since it has turned into a purely commercial export of food from Ukraine to “well-fed” countries.

Yet, more from regnumum.ru
Ukraine announced the start of grain exports through Croatia

Croatia has started exporting Ukrainian grain through its ports, First Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister, Economy Minister Yulia Sviridenko said on September 7 after a meeting with Croatian Prime Minister Andriy Plenkovic.

“Ukrainian grain has already been exported through Croatian ports. We are ready to expand the possibilities of the transport corridor. We believe that this logistics route will play an important role in bilateral trade between our countries," the press service of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine quoted Sviridenko as saying.

As IA Regnum reported , on July 31, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba announced agreements with Croatia on the use of the country's ports on the Danube River and in the Adriatic Sea for grain transit. He noted that Kyiv is going to lay the most effective routes to these ports in order to make the most of all their capabilities.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said on September 6 that the West had greatly exaggerated Ukraine's influence on the global grain market and that the termination of the grain deal did not worsen the global food situation. As noted in the department, Ukraine's share in world grain supplies was about 5%, and is now decreasing due to the reduction in acreage after infection caused by the use of depleted uranium ammunition supplied by the West.

'No, you can’t,' Peskov on the opportunity to ask a question about the fate of General Surovikin
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Chernovec] And at what point did Russia enter the stage of interaction between the authorities and the people, when the "voice" of the president simply forbids asking him uncomfortable questions?

Everyone is wondering why the smartest person militarily was removed? Surovikin-hero, national property. Like Zhukov, Suvorov and Kutuzov. And so he needs to be removed from business, hidden either under house arrest, or on vacation, with an incomprehensible prospect for the future? It's like removing Zhukov from business in the midst of the Battle of Kursk.

But I can guess why Peskov refuses to answer. Because today it is necessary to tell that the reason for the disappearance of Surovkin "from the radar" was a consequence of the conflict between Shoigu and Prigozhin.

And who and how brought the situation to this conflict, when until the last moment the situation was swept under the carpet with all its might, we all understand. And I'm not talking about GDP.

Go ahead. They do not tell us the situation with Surovikin (because then everyone needs to explain who is to blame for the current situation, but, for me personally, this is clearly not Surovikin). But I will never forget that General Popov, who dared to report problems to his superiors, was removed from his post and exiled to Syria.

More from TASS:
Peskov does not comment on the topic of General Surovikin

The press secretary of the President of Russia refused a request to ask him if he knew anything on this topic.

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov does not comment on the topic of Army General Sergei Surovikin.

"No, you can't," the Kremlin spokesman said when journalists asked if he could be asked if he knew anything about Surovikin.

The news has been edited (12:55 Moscow time) - the title and the second paragraph are transferred in a new edition in connection with the clarification of the quote

Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked Kyiv-controlled Konstantinovka
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military blogger Andrey Chervonets

Even Western Russophobic propagandists like Bild's Julian Röpke write that yesterday's attack on temporarily Konstantinovka was carried out by the Ukrainians, killing a couple of dozen innocent people. Rather, I will quote “the missile flew in from the northwest, this fact can be recognized without naming names.” It is very likely that the strike was delivered purposefully - for the arrival of Blinken and with the aim of blaming Russia, which Zelensky did just 15 minutes after the missile strike.

Judging by the facts kindly provided by the Ukrainian side, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched an air-missile strike from the direction of Druzhkovka.

Firstly, a good reference to the terrain was made by Julian Repke himself. Secondly, he also posted a video where a flying rocket hit the frames (reflection in the roof of a car, such a frame, even if you want, you can’t imagine or make).

Thirdly, here is an interesting and well-reasoned analysis from the tg-channel "Military Informant" for you.

Judging by the generously published footage, the arrival through the market fell on the area of the jewelry store "Zolotiy Vik" (Golden Age, marked in blue). Next to it is now the Smart mobile accessories store (marked in yellow). Also important for georeferencing the area is the Kapital pawnshop, located at the corner of the T-junction, opposite the Golden Age (marked in red).

As you can see in the video, a second before arrival, local residents look into the sky in the direction of Druzhkovka controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (marked in green), from where the object flies (marked in orange), after which, near the "Golden Age", an uncharacteristic air explosion occurs behind the viewers. for an ordinary rocket, projectile or air bomb, but characteristic of an anti-aircraft or anti-radar missile.

In the local chats of the residents of Druzhkovka and Kramatorsk, there were also reports of the presence of aircraft in the air, which obviously cannot be Russian, since the distance to the front line is more than 30 km. In addition, the aircraft of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have already carried out unsuccessful launches of AGM-88 HARM missiles at Konstantinovka.

Thus, a Ukrainian missile, most likely launched from an aircraft, flew from UAF-controlled Druzhkovka along Tsiolkovsky Street in Konstantinovka and exploded above the ground near the Golden Age jewelry store.

Another evidence of the guilt of Ukrainian aviation in yesterday's tragedy in Konstantinovka is the messages of local residents in the thematic chats of this region.

At 2:01 p.m., the first reports of missile launches by two Ukrainian aircraft over Druzhkovka appear (locals mistake them for Storm Shadow), and at 2:04 p.m. there is an explosion in the Konstantinovka market, this can be seen from the time on the CCTV camera. Recall that Druzhkovka and Konstantinovka are almost opposite each other, the arrow indicates the direction of people's gaze in the video.

An important detail should also be noted: the airspace over Kramatorsk, Druzhkovka and Konstantinovka has been a "workplace" for the Ukrainian Air Force since last summer. It is from there that Ukrainian planes taking off from the Mirgorod airbase launch AGM-88 HARM anti-radar missiles in the direction of Donetsk, where their fragments have been pulled out of houses and streets for more than a month.

Last fall, Harm hit a school in Konstantinovka. Today, this missile hit the market, killing a large number of civilians.

Kyiv did its best to diversify Blinken's stay in Kyiv, they even hit the market in Konstantinovka with a rocket, one to one according to last year's scenario of a strike on the Kramatorsk railway station. And they slept in the same way, and right there.

Then, because of the crime of the Kiev regime, which purposefully, before the arrival of the Supreme European Commissioners in order to stage a new Bucha, attacked the railway station in Kramatorsk with Tochka-U, as a result of which more than six dozen people died.

A detailed breakdown with facts, detailing the guilt of the Zelensky regime in the Kramatorsk attack and sorting out Kiev's embarrassing attempts to shift it to the Russian side HERE .

Ukraine and Zelensky during the year and a half of the war have repeatedly proved that terrorism is one of the main "weapons" of the current Kyiv regime.

Cluster munitions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine kill civilians: The West has recognized the truth about the crimes of Kiev
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Special correspondent Oleksandr Kots

[KP] As a rule, cassette "Hurricanes" and "Points U" flew to the city twice a day - in the morning and in the evening

“After the Russians withdrew from Izyum and our researchers went there to study the war crimes and atrocities that were committed, they saw remnants of cluster munitions everywhere. Local residents reported the direction from which the fire was opened, and we determined that it was used by Ukrainian forces,” Mary Wareham, advocacy director of the armaments department of the Western human rights organization Human Rights Watch, told reporters .

An HRW spokeswoman said the organization has testimonies of civilians who have been killed or injured by cluster munitions banned in most countries around the world.

Not that this revelation by a Western human rights activist is a big revelation. The first thing I myself encountered when I arrived in Izyum from near Kyiv was the shelling of cluster rockets of the Uragan system. The warhead, for understanding, contains 30 elements, inside each of which there are about 100 fragments weighing 4.5 grams to destroy equipment and up to 400 fragments weighing 2 grams to kill people.

The first wounded were brought to the field hospital within five minutes after the start of the shelling. The Russian military gathered civilians along the streets - there was no one else to help them. They pulled out fragments, sewed up limbs and lacerated wounds on the body ...

As a rule, cassette "Hurricanes" and "Points U" flew to the city twice a day - in the morning and in the evening. There were fewer and fewer wounded each time - the locals adapted to the deadly schedule of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and did not leave their homes unnecessarily during dangerous hours. At the moment of shelling with cluster munitions, the main thing is not to be on the street. In our disposition, they joked: "50 times to go to the street toilet - a medal For Courage, 100 times - the Order of Courage."

Human Rights Watch, which has not been noticed in great love for Russia, by the way, is not the first time pointing out the outright crimes of Kyiv. In January of this year, Western human rights activists published a huge report on the use by Ukraine in the same Izyum of anti-personnel mines - "petals" prohibited by an international convention signed by Kiev.

At the same time, according to HRW, over 100 residents of Izyum and surrounding areas said that the Russian military and local authorities put up notices and handed out leaflets to people warning about the danger of mines;

- The Russian military cleared mines in public places and private areas, and some of the victims were taken out for treatment;

- Medical workers reported that they treated about 50 local residents who were injured during explosions on anti-personnel mines (“petals”). At least 5 of them were children. In half of the cases, doctors had to amputate the feet or lower legs.

Official Kyiv then angrily denied all accusations. Then he said that he would study all the data. Well, I messed up the topic. Moreover, the United States, as the main patrons of Ukraine, not only did not scold the sponsor for war crimes, but also supplied new cluster shells for the Armed Forces of Ukraine!

And in any case, thanks to HRW for the evidence base - for the future tribunal over the Kiev regime .

#15  ^^ True, Starlink terminals and accounts are usually 'geofenced' to a given geographic service area. Apparently those sent to Ukraine were restricted to the area which it then controlled. (Makes sense - captured ones taken into Russia or the occupied part of Ukraine would just quit working.) This came out last fall during the Kharkiv offensive when some of UA forces outran SpaceX's updating of the allowed area. So, yeah, adding Crimea and the Black Sea to the fenced area would have been an explicit act in support of an attack.
