[Wash Times] The administration and House Republican leaders scrambled Monday to rescue President Obama's crucial trade deal in Congress, but White House aides acknowledged that a legislative solution was still eluding them.
With the remainder of his presidency riding on a solution to the impasse, Mr. Obama telephoned Speaker John A. Boehner, Ohio Republican. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, California Republican, said an alliance of Republican lawmakers and pro-trade Democrats would prevail in a revote on the trade package that failed last week.
"Trade is going forward," Mr. McCarthy told reporters.
But it wasn't clear when House leaders would schedule another vote, largely because there was no evidence that Mr. Obama had changed any Democrats' minds since Friday. After the disastrous loss dealt to him by his own party, the president spent much of the weekend playing golf and hosting a private, A-list concert at the White House featuring Prince.
I've seen nothing at all that makes me think this is a good idea. Mainly because I've seen nothing for sure about what's in it.
I'm for free and fair trade but this thing seems to have more hidden features that screw the US than the Russian secret military plans for attacking us.

If Boner is smart he'll rope a dope the Democrats into doing something on the trade bill and then pull his support at the last minute.
That way the trade bill won't pass and the dems are on record voting for it...generates lots of votes in heavily union areas.
I do believe though the Dems are gun shy because of the carnage from Obumblecare that saw most of the Democratic Senators who voted for the thing voted out of office in their next election with Ocare as the primary campaign issue.

Cuomo's surprise arrival at a still-unfolding escape scene a week ago Saturday generated considerable national publicity for the governor, but distracted investigators at a time when the full facts of the escape were not yet known, the sources said.
"Cuomo actually disrupted the early search efforts when he arrived at the 'command center' on Saturday and refused to enter the room until everyone was removed except state employees,'' said a longtime law enforcement figure who has regular contact with many involved in the search effort.

"The State Police are trying to make sure that they're the ones to catch these guys, that they get all the credit, and as a result, they're not making full use of the assets that are available to them,'' the source continued.
Several sources said they believe Cuomo had subsequently given orders that he be allowed to rush to the Dannemora area to take part in any press conference if the fugitives are caught.
