Afghanistan
Convicted rapist reached the U.S. on Afghan evacuation flight
[Wash Times] A man who had been convicted of rape and deported from the U.S. was allowed to board an Afghan evacuation flight and reach America, law enforcement sources say.

When American citizens were having trouble catching flights out of Kabul, Ghader Heydari made it on an Ethiopian Airlines charter flight for evacuees.

Border officials flagged the 47-year-old on his arrival at Washington Dulles International Airport. They appear to be the first to have spotted his criminal and immigration history and derailed his entry.

Heydari is being held at the Caroline Detention Facility in Bowling Green, Virginia, The Washington Times has learned.

"They are bringing far too many people in far too quickly to be able to effectively vet them," said Ken Cuccinelli, a deputy secretary at Homeland Security in the Trump administration.

  • His division is the nation's Immediate Response Force, and they are positioned to deploy anywhere in the world within 18 hours of notification

  • Donahue has deployed 17 times in support of operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, and Eastern Europe

  • He served in the special forces before studying at Harvard and working in the Pentagon as special assistant to the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff

  • Donahue, a two star general, deployed to Afghanistan in mid August and was given the job of maintaining security at the airport

Veteran Green Beret says special ops volunteers will STAY in Kabul to save Afghan refugees after using encrypted phones and 'shepherds' to rescue more than 500 allies in secret nighttime operations
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Retired Army Lt. Colonel Scott Mann has served multiple tours in Afghanistan

  • He and two fellow Green Berets are leading Task Force Pineapple, which he described as an 'underground railroad' of service members rescuing Afghans

  • The mission began with an Afghan commando stuck outside of Kabul airport who reached out to the three US military members for help evacuating

  • They led him through his perilous journey using encrypted chat messages

  • Active service members stationed at the airport have been unofficially lending a hand by jumping into waist-deep sewage to pull Afghans out and other methods

  • Task Force Pineapple was named for an image of the fruit that fleeing Afghans would flash on their phone at US troops looped into the mission as a sign

  • The pineapple image on their phones mean they have been vetted and guided by Mann and other 'shepherds' who are largely retired veterans helping remotely

  • Mann described Afghans being beaten, trampled and shot at in their journey

  • He said the next step would be to figure out how to 'move them out of the country unconventionally' without the use of Hamid Karzai International Airport

White House defends letting billions in military equipment fall into Taliban hands
[Washington Examiner] White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Monday that it was not the Biden administration's intention to arm the Taliban with billions of dollars in military equipment originally given to the Afghan government but claimed that the United States is taking steps to "reduce the amount of equipment" in the Taliban's possession before completing the troop withdrawal at the end of the month.

Psaki, fielding questions at Monday's White House press briefing, declined to "get into details" of how specifically U.S. forces are carrying out the equipment destruction or
recovery but assured reporters "that is part of their effort."

Rep. Jim Banks, an Indiana lawmaker who chairs the Republican Study Committee and served in Afghanistan, estimated the value of what was left behind at $85 billion.

The top White House spokeswoman outlined a series of choices the U.S. made that led to Taliban forces obtaining American-supplied equipment.

"We had to make an assessment several weeks ago about whether we provide materials to the Afghan National Security Forces so that they could fight the fight. Obviously, they decided not to fight, and we made the decision to provide them with that equipment and the material," she continued. "We have not assessed that any group on the ground, whether it's ISIS-K or the Taliban, has the ability to attack the United States."

Psaki added, "There's a difference between the threat that is posed to U.S. men and women serving or people who are gathering outside of the gates in Kabul and whether these individuals can attack the United States."

I read the WH Quote: "We had to make an assessment several weeks ago about whether we provide materials to the Afghan National Security Forces so that they could fight the fight. Obviously, they decided not to fight, and we made the decision to provide them with that equipment and the material,"

What is the bottom line?
Was this equipment property of the US Gov., or Sold/leased/loaned to the Afghan National Security Forces?

Either way it sounds like US DOD /SOS/INTEL Grps. and the WH JC's

Former British soldier stranded in Kabul plans escape for 400 Afghans
[Telegraph UK via Yahoo] A former British soldier stranded in Kabul is leading an escape effort for 400 Afghans across a Taliban-controlled border.

Ben Slater, 37, decided to escape Afghanistan over land seized by the Islamist group after the Foreign Office failed to approve visas for the air evacuation of himself and around 50 staff, mainly Afghan women, from the Nomad Concepts Group. Mr Slater is chairman of the group, which operates from Kabul.

A detailed plan for the escape, seen by The Telegraph, has been sent to the Foreign Office and Ministry of Defence in the hope that UK forces will assist their efforts on the ground and repatriate them when they reach their destination in a third country.

The location of Mr Slater’s convoy, and their final destination, cannot be revealed for security reasons.

He formerly served in the Royal Military Police, where he worked as a bodyguard to British ambassadors abroad.

Mr Slater has already helped evacuate dozens of people from Afghanistan on the UK’s airlift programme. But when he asked officials to organise the evacuation of himself and his staff — who are at risk of retribution from the Taliban after the West’s withdrawal — no visas were provided.

He described himself as being "massively let down" by the UK Government and has launched his own operation to save 400 Afghan nationals includes the 50 staff and himself.

Ministers have advised any British nationals or Afghans eligible for resettlement in the UK to attempt to make passage to countries that neighbour Afghanistan so they can be repatriated. But concerns have been raised that Foreign Office officials failed to adequately prepare with Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to allow people to travel to the UK.

Officials are reportedly concerned that Russia has encouraged Afghanistan’s neighbours not to accept Western citizens in transit to their home countries or to facilitate Afghan refugees seeking resettlement in Britain and elsewhere.

#2  The Russian will always be there to lend a friendly hand. Almost comically predictable. Well, almost.

This is precisely why Trump kept sticking it to them despite saying nice things about Putin. He probably figured you don't want to make it too personal against a guy you gotta negotiate with. Problem is this gave the Dems room to fake hawkishness and lost Trump some national security voters. I looked at the way he whacked the Russians in Syria and thought the media portrayal of Trump as a Russian patsy was akin to its portrait of George Floyd the violent drug felon as a gentle giant.

I see the Newsom referendum as a bellwether poll. If Larry Elder wins, the Dems will get steamrolled in 2022. And Trump 2024 will just be a formality.

Senator Seeks Investigation Into Americans Reportedly Denied Entry to Kabul Airport
[Free Beacon] The ranking member on the Senate’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations has instructed the Biden administration to hand over internal information about its decision to reportedly prevent a busload of Americans from entering Afghanistan’s airport to be evacuated from the war-torn country.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R., Wis.) is using his oversight authority to investigate allegations that U.S. military leaders prevented U.S. citizens and others from entering the Kabul airport as part of emergency evacuation efforts coordinated by nonprofit groups.

Johnson says he has been "receiving reports that contradict the Biden administration’s narrative and are troubling to say the least," according to an information request obtained by the Washington Free Beacon that was sent on Friday to the Biden Pentagon and State Department. This includes reports that "a group of over 400 individuals including U.S. citizens were turned away at the airport" on Thursday and told by a U.S. military commander that the "rescue is over."

Johnson is one of several congressional foreign policy leaders demanding the Biden administration turn over information related to its ongoing emergency evacuation of Americans from Afghanistan. Americans waiting to be rescued contradict the Biden administration’s claims the mission is running smoothly. The administration maintains that it can rescue every American stranded in the country by an Aug. 31 deadline set by the ruling Taliban and agreed to by the United States. It is unclear, however, how many U.S. citizens are scrambling to leave.

Final US evacuation flights leave, ending America’s 20-year Afghanistan war, equipment left behind disabled
[IsraelTimes] A few hundred US citizens are left behind as final military transports depart just before midnight; General hopes they will still be able to leave Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
-ruled country.

The United States completed its withdrawal from Afghanistan late Monday, ending America’s longest war and closing a chapter in military history likely to be remembered for colossal failures, unfulfilled promises and a frantic final exit that cost the lives of more than 180 Afghans and 13 US service members, some barely older than the war.

Hours ahead of US President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. I'm not working for you. Don't be such a horse's ass. Don't say he didn't warn us...
’s Tuesday deadline for shutting down a final airlift, and thus ending the US war, Air Force transport planes carried a remaining contingent of troops from Kabul airport. Thousands of troops had spent a harrowing two weeks protecting a hurried and risky airlift of tens of thousands of Afghans, Americans and others seeking to escape a country once again ruled by Talibs.

In announcing the completion of the evacuation and war effort. Gen. Frank McKenzie, head of U.S. Central Command, said the last planes took off from Kabul airport at 3:29 p.m. Washington time, or one minute before midnight in Kabul. He said a number of American citizens, likely numbering in "the very low hundreds," were left behind, and that he believes they will still be able to leave the country.

The airport had become a US-controlled island, a last stand in a 20-year war that claimed more than 2,400 American lives.

The closing hours of the evacuation were marked by extraordinary drama. American troops faced the daunting task of getting final evacuees onto planes while also getting themselves and some of their equipment out, even as they monitored repeated threats — and at least two actual attacks — by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group’s Afghanistan affiliate. A suicide kaboom on Aug. 26 killed 13 American service members and some 169 Afghans.

The final pullout fulfilled Biden’s pledge to end what he called a "forever war" that began in response to the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, that killed nearly 3,000 people in New York, Washington and rural Pennsylvania. His decision, announced in April, reflected a national weariness of the Afghanistan conflict. Now he faces condemnation at home and abroad, not so much for ending the war as for his handling of a final evacuation that unfolded in chaos and raised doubts about US credibility.

The US war effort at times seemed to grind on with no endgame in mind, little hope for victory and minimal care by Congress for the way tens of billions of dollars were spent for two decades. The human cost piled up — tens of thousands of Americans injured in addition to the dead, and untold numbers suffering psychological wounds they live with or have not yet recognized they will live with.

More than 1,100 troops from coalition countries and more than 100,000 Afghan forces and civilians died, according to Brown University’s Costs of War project.

The final US exit included the withdrawal of its diplomats, although the State Department has left open the possibility of resuming some level of diplomacy with the Taliban depending on how they conduct themselves in establishing a government and adhering to international pleas for the protection of human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...

US military disables scores of aircraft before leaving Kabul airport
[IsraelTimes] Also rendered useless were armored vehicles as well as a high-tech rocket defense system worth millions of dollars that could not be dismantled in time.

The US military disabled scores of aircraft and armored vehicles as well as a high-tech rocket defense system at the Kabul airport before it left Monday, a US general said.

Central Command head General Kenneth McKenzie said 73 aircraft that were already at Hamid Karzai International Airport were “demilitarized,” or rendered useless, by US troops before they wrapped up the two-week evacuation of the Taliban-controlled country.

“Those aircraft will never fly again… They’ll never be able to be operated by anyone,” he said.

“Most of them are non-mission capable to begin with. But certainly they’ll never be able to be flown again.”

He said the Pentagon, which built up a force of nearly 6,000 troops to occupy and operate Kabul’s airport when the airlift began on August 14, left behind around 70 MRAP armored tactical vehicles — which can cost up to $1 million apiece — that it disabled before leaving, and 27 Humvees.

The vehicles “will never be used again by anyone,” he said.

The US also left behind the C-RAM system — counter rocket, artillery, and mortar — that was used to protect the airport from rocket attacks.

The system helped fend off a five-rocket barrage from the Islamic State on Monday.

“We elected to keep those systems in operation up until the very last minute,” before the last US aircraft left, McKenzie said.

“It’s a complex procedure and time-intensive procedure to break down those systems. So we demilitarize those systems so that they’ll never be used again.”

#1  Thermite is a pyrotechnic composition of a metal powder and a metal oxide that produces an exothermic oxidation-reduction reaction known as a thermite reaction. If aluminum is the reducing agent it is called an aluminothermic reaction. Most varieties are not explosive, but can create short bursts of extremely high temperatures focused on a very small area for a short period of time. The thermite is simply a mixture of metal, often called the "fuel" and an oxidizer. Its form of action is thought very similar to other fuel-oxidizer mixtures like black powder.

Second, helicopters can fly. We should have been flying them over to India. If someone is gonna get free helicopters I'd rather India get them. Also, each helicopter could have gone out loaded with civilians and/or carrying containers filled with stuff.

The Taliban conducts anti-terrorist operations

[Chernovec] 25 dead ISIS Bad Guys in eastern Afghanistan

The situation sounds exotic, it looks too. Flying detachments of the movement in pickup trucks, with machine guns and grenade launchers drove through Kabul all night, looking for ISIS participants who claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack at the airport.

While urging the residents of the city not to go out and stay at home. Plus, the Taliban expanded the security perimeter, making it impossible to illegally climb into the airport.

As part of the anti-terrorist operation, the anti-terrorist unit neutralized three ISIS terrorists. This is our brave new world.

The Taliban have also launched large-scale operations against IS in eastern Afghanistan. IS lost 25 people killed, the Taliban managed to capture three checkpoints and repel the ISIS counteroffensive, losing only one person killed.

Taliban Cuts Telecom Service to Panjshir
[TOLONEWS] Local residents in Panjsir province, the only province that has not fallen to the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
, say that the Taliban has cut telecommunication networks in the province.

Panjshir residents say that the lack of phone and internet networks is causing serious challenges.

"They have cut off telecommunication services in Panjshir for the last two days. Panjshir people are facing challenges in this regard and cannot get in touch with their relatives living in other parts of the country," said Gul Haidar, a Panjshir resident.

Mustafa, a Kabul resident, says that his relatives and friends live in Panjshir but he cannot contact them. "All my relatives and friends are in Panjshir. Unfortunately, on one hand the road to Panjshir is closed and on the other hand the communication networks are not working," he said.

Panjshir residents added that the Taliban has closed roads and other routes leading to Panjshir valley and that food prices have skyrocketed in the province.

"They (Taliban) claim that 80 percent of Panjshir's problem has been solved and the people have no fight with us. But they have closed the road for the people," said Jumadin, a Panjshir resident.

The Taliban has yet to comment.

Ahmad Massoud, son of Ahmad Shah Massoud, leads the resistance against the Taliban in Panjshir.

So far both sides have insisted on solving the problem via dialogue, and in the past two weeks neither side has attacked the other.

However,

the talks have so far led to no tangible outcome.

Head of Tunisia's Qalb Tounes Party Held in Algeria
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Liberal party leader Nabil Karoui, runner-up in Tunisia’s 2019 presidential election that saw Kais Saied elected, has been arrested in Algeria along with his MP brother, media reports said Monday.

The privately owned Radio Mosaique FM said border police arrested the Qalb Tounes party chief and his brother Ghazi Karoui in the Tebessa region of northeast Algeria.

Senior party official Oussama Khelifi told news hounds "official information" was still being awaited.

The arrest of the brothers has not yet been confirmed by the authorities in either country.

"We have not heard from Karoui for a week," Khelifi said.

Riadh al-Nouioui, front man for Kasserine court in central Tunisia, told AFP that "the authorities are investigating two people suspected of helping the Karoui brothers escape" to Algeria.

Nabil Karoui founded the private Tunisian channel Nessma TV, which is partly owned by Italia’s former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi.

Karoui has been under investigation since 2017 in a money laundering and tax evasion case.

He was arrested in 2019 and spent more than a month in prison at the height of the presidential election campaign.

He was freed but rearrested last December and spent six months in pre-trial detention before being let out again in June 2021.

Karoui’s presidential campaign focused on the fight against poverty and his opposition to Islamist politics despite allying himself with the Islamist-inspired Ennahda party.

He lost out to Saied, a retired law professor and political newcomer, as the electorate rejected the political class that had ruled since the 2011 revolution.

On July 25, Saied dismissed parliament, sacked the prime minister and granted himself sweeping powers, invoking the constitution as justification.

Since then, there has been a wave of travel bans and house arrests targeting parliamentarians, magistrates and businessmen in an anti-corruption purge.

... a Yemeni governate located in the southwestern corner of the Arabian Peninsula. It is the stomping grounds on the southern secessionist al-Harak movement
province, Yemeni source said on Sunday.

The attack took place during morning training and is the second to target the base in as many years.

President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi vowed that the Houthis will "pay dearly" for the attack.

"They will be held accountable for every crime they commit against the Yemeni people," he added, according to the Saba news agency.

"The Yemeni people’s battle against the Persian agenda in Yemen will continue and it will soon be victorious," he pledged.

"The sacrifices of the people will not be in vain. The Houthi’ attempts to drag Yemen back to a hateful past will fail. The people will defeat them and establish their state," he continued.

Hadi urged the people to stand united against the Houthi agenda, saying anyone supporting them is being deluded. He called on them to show solidarity and be more vigilant and wary against any hostile Houthi acts.

The call for solidarity appears to be a message to end the dispute with the Southern Transitional Council (STC) - the interim government’s partner in rule - in order to implement the military and security aspects of the Riyadh Agreement.

The latest figures from Yemen showed that 44 people were killed and 60 maimed in the al-Anad attack.

The majority of the maimed were being treated at hospitals in Lahj, which is located some 60kms from Aden, the interim capital. Other casualties were being treated in Aden.

Governor of Lahj and commander of the 17th infantry unit, Ahmed Turki vowed to retaliate to the Houthi attack.

"The response will be on the battlefield, not by using inhumane means that are adopted by the Houthis," he said as he visited the maimed at hospital.

Military front man said the Houthis struck the military base with three ballistic missiles and armed drones.

Witnesses said the attack was launched from the neighboring Taiz province, where some regions are still held by the militias.

The Houthis have not grabbed credit for the attack in what observers said was an attempt to raise suspicions between the government and STC, similar to what happened in the past when camps in Aden were attacked.

In 2019, the Houthis said they launched a dronezap on al-Anad during a military parade, with medics and government sources saying at the time at least six loyalists were killed -- including a high-ranking intelligence official.

Observers said the Houthi attacks are a message that they are not seeking peace in Yemen, citing also their ongoing refusal of nationwide ceasefire proposals by the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
and international mediators.

Three Cartel Gunmen Incinerated During Border City Shootouts in Mexico

shootout took place this week when a group of Gulf Cartel button men clashed with Tamaulipas state coppers on the west side of Matamoros. Following a brief exchange of gunfire, the three button men riding in an SUV attempted to flee. The group sped away along the highway known as Sendero Nacional.

Police officers chased the button men and exchanged gunfire during a rolling shootout. The clash ended when the button men crashed into the wall of a manufacturing plant and their vehicle quickly became engulfed in flames. By the time local firefighters responded and put out the flames, the three button men had been partially incinerated.

Since that shootout, Tamaulipas state authorities engaged in several festivities and shootouts with Gulf Cartel button men in Matamoros. This led to several arrests and left button men and coppers maimed. Security conditions in Matamoros worsened in recent weeks as button men expanded their extortion operations. They also turned to armed robberies and carjackings — similar to the current trends in Reynosa. The escalation in violence in Matamoros is also linked to an apparent internal conflict within the leaders of that faction.

As Breitbart Texas reported, over the summer, the Matamoros faction of the Gulf Cartel had announced they were stopping a long-term pie fight with the faction in Reynosa in an attempt to restore peace to the region. Despite such claims, both border cities continue to suffer from violent mostly peaceful crimes at the hands of the criminal organization.

Germany Arrests Woman Accused of Helping ISIS Group
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] A German woman was arrested Monday on suspicion of helping the ISIS group by backing efforts to transfer money to bad boys, prosecutors said.

The suspect, identified only as Denise S., was arrested in Geretsried, near Munich and faces possible charges of supporting a foreign terrorist organization. She is accused of supporting Aymen A.-J., an Iraqi man who was arrested in Germany earlier this year.

Federal prosecutors said that the woman's main job was to establish contact with female ISIS members and keep them up-to-date on upcoming money transfers.

She is accused of calling for donations for an ISIS member who was supposed to be freed from a Kurdish refugee camp, to enable her return to the bad boy group, and of setting up an account to receive donations.

She also allegedly had Aymen A.-J. transfer 200 euros ($235) to an ISIS member in Idlib, Syria.

Aymen A.-J. is accused of transferring at least $12,000 to Syria and Leb

Possible Terrorist Attack In Garland, Texas, USA
BLUF: Wannabe masked jihadi Emron Ali Rashid murdered his Lyft driver in one suburb of Dallas, stole her car and drove it to the police station in another suburb of Dallas, where he shot a few warning shots in the lobby before being gunned down by by the police on duty.
[MSN] Garland Police identified the Lyft driver who was killed Sunday, August 29, in Garland, shortly before a masked gunman was shot at Plano Police Headquarters.

The driver, Isabella Lewis, 26, of Garland, was shot and killed after she dropped off or picked up someone who had requested a ride, according to Garland Police said.

The shooter in Garland and Plano has been identified as Emron Ali Rashid.

He was the one Lewis went to pick up for a ride.

There was a note left in the Lewis’ car, that led to a possible motive for the crime, authorities said, but did not elaborate.
"Dirka dirka jihad jihad. Allahu Akhbar!"
Authorities: "We'll probably never know his motivation. It's unclear. Possibly White Supremacy"

Matthew DeSarno, Special Agent in Charge of FBI Dallas, said the Dallas FBI has joined in the investigation to see what led to the investigation and if it was an act of terrorism.

"Rashid may have been inspired by a foreign terrorist organization to commit these acts," DeSarno said.

He was the subject of a counterterrorism investigation from 2010 to 2013.

At this point, we do not believe the suspect was provided assistance by others or that others were involved in the incident," said DeSarno.

There is no indication Rashid and Lewis new each other.

Just before noon on Sunday, Garland police responded to a gunshot wound call in the 400 block of Forest Gate Drive.

Police say the caller stated someone was shot and the victim’s vehicle was stolen.

When officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

"She was either going there to pick up a client or going there to drop off a client, we’re still kind of unsure why she was at that location but it was a hired ride," said Matt Pesta of the Garland Police Department.

A spokesperson for Lyft has since released the following statement:

"We are heartbroken by this incident and our hearts are with the driver’s loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. Safety is fundamental to Lyft and we are ready to assist law enforcement."

Minutes later, at approximately 12:15 p.m., officers responded to a complaint of a man "behaving erratically" in front of the Plano Police Department.

Prior to their arrival, the suspect entered the department’s lobby. And upon entering the lobby a second time, officials say he displayed a handgun, raised it and then fired it in the direction of a civilian police employee who was assisting a visitor.

Both the employee and visitor took shelter in a secure room off the lobby of the department, police said. At that time, two police officers reportedly responded from inside the building and exchanged fire with the suspect.

The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital where his current status is unknown, police said.

During their investigation, Plano police found the stolen Lyft driver’s vehicle outside the department.

No police employees or visitors were injured.

"Things kind of appear what they are, but we still need to link them with evidence, to be able to make that solid connection," Pesta said. "It’s just a sad deal all the way around. I mean, let’s face it, a life was lost today, and there could have been many more if it wasn’t for the heroic actions of [the] Plano Police Department."

Plano Mayor John Muns released the following statement:

"What could have been a horrific tragedy was avoided, thanks to the swift and effective action of our Plano police officers... I applaud the response of the officers who responded who stopped a dangerous situation from taking a deadly turn."

In this their youth will experience the conflicted self-identification that comes from being a "'tween" we first assessed after 9/11 as we looked at Jihadist movements in the US Muslim communities. Youth who face not feeling like they belong or are accepted hers as Americans, but who cannot feel they belong in the nation of their parents either, "between" cultures, and adrift longing for a connection. The fertile field of the Jihadi propagandist and recruiter.
Complicating this will be multi-generational anger over the whiplash of emotional dislocations and anger over the miasma that Afghanistan now suffers yet again. This is a breeding ground for terrorism, and the reintroduction of the lovely tactic of IED and car-bombing, skills well learned in former homeland homes. Our regret for the entire post Tora-Bora military strategy will last for a very long time, as will the devastating reminder these remnants of a failed nation building strategy will be for a generation.

The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
An unknown number of Pak soldiers "opened fire" on an unknown number of Afghan civilians at Torkham on August 27 "when they rushed towards the crossing gate and wanted to enter [the] Pak side," according to Pajhwok Afghan News.

"Some sources confirmed six people were killed and two others injured in the incident," the news outlet revealed, adding that provincial officials in Nangarhar "have not spoken about the incident."

Pakistain’s federal government ordered the total closure of the Torkham crossing this week to avoid an influx of Afghan refugees fleeing the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
terror group’s recent takeover of Afghanistan, an unnamed Pak border official told the U.K.’s Telegraph newspaper on August 26.

"We have closed the border on the government’s directives because Pakistain cannot afford to house more refugees. Pakistain is already home to three million Afghans," the border official said.

Iraq
Six Iraqis on Death Row Executed, Three for 'Terrorism'
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Six Iraqis sentenced to death, three for "terrorism", were hanged Monday in a prison in southern Iraq, a medical source told AFP.

The source said the hangings took place in Nasiriyah prison, where death row prisoners are held.

Those not executed for "terrorism" were sentenced over "criminal cases".

Rights group Amnesia Amnesty International says it recorded more than 45 executions in Iraq last year, including many of people accused of belonging to the ISIS group.

Since Baghdad officially declared victory over ISIS in 2017, Iraqi courts have sentenced hundreds to death for crimes perpetrated by the holy warriors who had set up a so-called "caliphate" in territory seized in Iraq and Syria in 2014.

Only a small proportion of the sentences have been carried out, as they must be approved by the president.

Barham Salih, who has held the post since 2018, is known to be personally against capital punishment.

According to an AFP tally, at least 14 people sentenced for "terrorism" have been executed in Iraq since the start of the year, all at the Nasiriyah prison.

Earlier this month, a man who murdered a senior Iraqi official in broad daylight was sentenced to death amid revulsion over the government’s failure to halt a wave of liquidations.

In January, an official from Iraq’s presidency told AFP more than 340 execution orders "for terrorism or criminal acts" were ready to be carried out.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Border policeman dies from Gaza riot shooting injury
[Jpost] Border Police St.-Sgt. Barel Hadaria Shmueli died on Monday, succumbing to gunshot wounds inflicted on him by a Palestinian gunman during the Gaza border riots on Saturday, August 21."Today we parted with the child who sacrificed his life to protect us and be the best man he can be," Shmueli’s grieving parents said in a statement. "Barel, we may be saying goodbye but we will never forget you. It was a privilege to know you and a shame we didn’t have more time."

"The medical staff fought for Shmueli’s life as he underwent several surgeries. In spite of all the efforts and due to the complex nature of the injury sustained, we were forced to determine his death," a statement from Soroka read.

Shmueli was a native of Beer Ya’akov in central Israel.

The 21-year-old sniper was in the special Yamas undercover Mistaravim Border Police Unit, and according to his father, was set to be discharged from his mandatory service in two months.

Shmueli’s commander, Chief Superintendent "K," told 103FM radio prior to Shmueli’s passing that the staff sergeant was "a valued, sociable, professional fighter" who had been mentoring new recruits.

Israeli politicians offered their condolences on Monday as news broke of Shmueli’s death.

"There are no words sufficient to comfort the family in its deep mourning," Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said. "Barel was a fighter in his life and in his death. He fought for his life until the last moment, as all of Israel prayed for him. I would like to embrace the family, which has lost what was most precious to it. May Barel’s soul be bound in the chain of life."

IDF chief threatens response as Gazans riot on border for 3rd night

[IsraelTimes] ‘Calm and security will allow an improvement in civil conditions, but rioting and terror will lead to strong response or operation,’ Aviv Kohavi says, as hundreds gather in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Hundreds of Paleostinians demonstrated on the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel on Monday for a third straight night of riots, as the head of the Israel Defense Forces warned that the army would not hesitate to respond to any violence.

Gazooks from so-called "night confusion units" set tires alight and rolled them toward soldiers stationed along the frontier, and lobbed improvised explosives, in a repeat of violence seen along the border the previous two nights.

As Israeli troops responded, the Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw,-run health ministry in Gaza said three Paleostinians were maimed from IDF live fire and three more suffered tear gas inhalation.

One of the Hamas-linked groups behind the riots said one of its members had been seriously injured by live fire from the IDF.

There was no immediate comment from the IDF and no reports of injuries on the Israeli side.

The "night confusion units" behind the border riots do not officially tie themselves to Hamas, though their activities could not take place without the approval of the terror group that rules the Strip.

The groups, which are affiliated with various terror factions, have said that the nightly riots on the border will continue until at least Thursday, starting at around 8 p.m. each evening.

Speaking to defense officials Monday night, IDF chief Aviv Kohavi warned that Israel would not tolerate the border riots.

ISIS Attacks Russian-Backed Militia in Deir Ezzor
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] A Russian-backed Fifth Corps militia was attacked by unknown assailants in the desert of the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, coinciding with intense Russian air raids on ISIS positions.

Ein al-Euphrates network reported that the Fifth Corps established a checkpoint near its military point in al-Masrib, west of Deir Ezzor, but unknown elements targeted the point with two RPGs, injuring three members.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported a comprehensive attack of ISIS cells on posts and positions of regime forces in the al-Masrab desert in western Deir Ezzor. Five Russian fighters have taken part in the combat, but no casualties have been reported.

SOHR documented the death of three fighters from the National Defense Forces (NDF) due to the earth-shattering kaboom of an old landmine planted earlier by ISIS in al-Duwayr village in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

Meanwhile,
...back at the the conspirators' cleverly concealed hideout the long-awaited message arrived. They quickly got to work with their decoder rings...
according to the Euphrates Post, Deir Ezzor witnessed increased displacement movement over the past few days, whether from areas under the control of the Assad regime or the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The website said it was the most significant displacement in the region in years due to forced conscription, unemployment, and the deterioration of living and economic conditions.

The Post news hound stated that the National Defense Forces in Ras al-Ain in al-Hasaka countryside arrested dozens of young men from Deir Ezzor province fleeing towards the north of Syria.

They were placed in prisons and their families were asked to pay between $500 and $100 in exchange for their release.
