Stacey Abrams adviser said burning police car, smashing windows isn't 'violence' after anti-cop chaos
See also here.
[FOXNEWS] A top adviser for Stacey Abrams
...the pudgy, sour grapes lo-o-o-o-o-ser (Loser! Loser! Loser!) of the 2018 Georgia governor's race. Stacey nominated herself to be Joe Biden's vice president nominee, to widespread national apathy. She has a very keen eye for Racism in any form, to include the imaginary...
' voting rights nonprofit defended anti-cop activist muppets who set a police car ablaze and smashed windows while protesting the death of an environmental activist muppet this past weekend in Atlanta.

Marisa Pyle, a senior rapid response manager at Abrams' Fair Fight Action, who also worked as a senior manager for Abrams' One Georgia leadership committee during her most recent failed Georgia gubernatorial run, rushed to defend the anti-police protesters and the ensuing chaos.

"You cannot commit violence against a window or a car. Killing a human? Now that, that is violence," Pyle wrote on Twitter this past weekend. "Shame on Atlanta's leaders who fall into the same tired path of protecting property while our people are murdered by their police."

Pyle's tweet followed Saturday protests in Atlanta, which began peacefully but delved into riots that saw masked activist muppets throw rocks and lit fireworks in front of a building that houses the Atlanta Police Foundation. The protesters shattered glass windows, lit a police car on fire, and vandalized walls with anti-police graffiti.

The police arrested six protesters and charged them with eight misdemeanor and felony charges, including domestic terrorism. Two suspects posted a $355,000 bond, while the four suspects were denied bond.

Activists were out to protest the death of Manuel Esteban Paez Teran, 26, who was killed by police last Wednesday after allegedly refusing demands and firing a gun at state troopers at the site of the new Atlanta Public Safety Training Center.

Afghanistan
Profiling Hibatullah’s ‘right hand man’
[AMUtv] Almost a year and a half into the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
’s rule, the group’s secretive leader Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada continues to remain elusive, surrounding himself with select, ultraconservative loyalists — one of which is Sheikh Habibullah Haqqani.

Mullah Hibatullah has led the Taliban since 2016, is seldom seen in public, and is never photographed, but soon after the fall of the previous government, he reportedly returned from Pakistain and settled in the southern province of Kandahar.

He soon established a 24-member council of religious scholars, all strong loyalists and at the same time appointed Sheikh Habibullah Haqqani, an ultra-conservative religious scholar, as his special representative.

After being appointed to the position, Habibullah Haqqani automatically garnered support from the Taliban’s hard-line leadership and was granted authority to make decisions by the group’s leader.

Like Mullah Hibatullah, Habibullah Haqqani is also a Kandahari. He was born in Nalgham village in Zherai district in 1975. His primary school education was under the guidance of religious scholars but he later studied at madrassas in Pakistain.

He returned to Kandahar during former president Mohammad Daud’s government where he then trained many students in religious studies. He also wrote a number of books on religious subjects.

Aides close to the Taliban leader confirmed that Mullah Hibatullah had himself been a student of Habibullah Haqqani.

Habibullah Haqqani had been a friend of Jalaluddin Haqqani
...founder and until he pegged out titular head of the Haqqani Network. Jalaluddin was one of the few Pashtun warlords who was worth spit...
, the founder of the Haqqani Network, during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. He was also a key figure in circles close to the Taliban’s founder and former leader Mullah Mohammad Blinky Omar
...a minor Pashtun commander in the war against the Soviets who made good as leader of the Taliban. As ruler of Afghanistan, he took the title Leader of the Faithful. The imposition of Pashtunkhwa on the nation institutionalized ignorance and brutality in a country already notable for its own fair share of ignorance and brutality. Died of an unspecified ailment in a Pak hospital...
and his successor Mullah Mohammad Mansoor; and he played an active role as an advisor over the years to Mullah Hibatullah. Sources close to him say he enjoys an elevated status within the leadership ranks as he also played a key role in the formation of the group.

Habibullah Haqqani has also reportedly called for the full implementation of all Sharia laws — along with other Taliban leaders; and he is known to stand in for Mullah Hibatullah at many important meetings.

"A number of external and internal enemies are carrying out propaganda against the Islamic Emirate, but the Taliban needs to ensure unity and goodwill among themselves to keep the system stable," Habibullah Haqqani was reported to have said at one recent Taliban meeting.

According to sources, he meets with Mullah Hibatullah once or twice a week at the former provincial council compound in Kandahar and in July 2022, he led an assembly of Taliban religious scholars in Kabul.

According to the Institute for the Study of War and the Critical Threats Project it was this gathering that Mullah Hibatullah leveraged to consolidate power and advance efforts to implement a hardline governance program.

More than 3,500 people from across Afghanistan were brought together for an "Assembly of Ulema" and the attendees were primarily religious leaders affiliated with the Taliban.

Each district sent two religious scholars and one tribal elder as representatives and each province sent two elders, a religious scholar from the thriving provincial capital, and five representatives from the provincial Ulema Council.

Critics said at the time Mullah Hibatullah used the Ulema gathering to assert his authority over the Taliban and receive pledges of obedience from religious leaders across Afghanistan. In fact, Habibullah Haqqani stood by this and used his opening remarks to emphasize total obedience to the Taliban leadership.

World Bank report finds Afghan revenue collection strong
[ArianaNews] The World Bank on Wednesday published its latest report on Afghanistan’s economy and painted a slightly positive picture — stating that in the first nine months of the fiscal year 2022, exports were good, the exchange rate was stable and the Islamic Emirate’s revenue collection had been strong.

The World Bank stated that inflationary pressure in Afghanistan has eased since July of last year, decelerating by half to 9.1 % in November, while most basic food and non-food items are still widely available. The report stated the decline in inflation was due to lower global oil and food prices, along with a stable exchange rate.

The bank stated that Afghanistan exported $1.7 billion worth of goods during this time, an increase of approximately 90% compared to the full year 2021.

The report noted that January to June 2022 data shows the country imported $2.9 billion of goods.

In addition, the report stated that revenue collection had remained strong, reaching $1.54 billion between March and December 2022, in line with 2020 results.

A major chunk of the revenues came from taxes collected at borders and non-tax sources while a rise in coal mining royalties and fees were likely the drivers of the increase in revenue, the report found.

The report also noted that most government workers in Afghanistan have received salaries regularly and that their main problem was the lack of cash in banks when withdrawing their salaries.

Pompeo’s book reveals facts about former Afghan president, saying he was a thief
[KhaamaPress] Mike Pompeo’s new book, Never Give An Inch, released on Tuesday, reveals certain facts about Afghanistan’s former Afghan President, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, ex-president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. When Biden abandoned the country left with a helicopter, four cars, and part of the national treasury...
and the previous administration in Afghanistan during his time as secretary of state and the reasons for the collapse of the entire political system in the country.

Pompeo, who served under President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
as the 70th United States secretary of state, had much to say about Afghanistan’s former president, Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah
...the former foreign minister of the Northern Alliance government, advisor to Masood, and candidate for president against both Karzai and Ghani. Dr. Abdullah was born in Kabul and is half Tadjik and half Pashtun. He also held the meaningless salaried sop position as CEO of Afghanistan, while Ghani was president...
. He mentioned that "both led cartels that stole millions of dollars in aid money from the United States."

He added that one of the main reasons for collapsing the entire political system was the high level of corruption and the "crooked system of patronage in the country."

He stated that, in his opinion, "low-level corruption secured a measure of stability" and prevented the country from collapsing.

On the other hand, Zalmay Khalilzan, whom President Donald Trump appointed as the US special envoy for Afghanistan reconciliation, stated in a series of tweets that "president Ghani felt he could ignore clear messages from Pompeo, myself and other US officials while had great connections with members of congress, retired generals, and lobbyists."

He further said that this was a tragic mistake by former president Ghani: "These connections led him (Ghani) to believe the US would maintain a robust military presence in Afghanistan, despite what both administrations told him regarding American withdrawal."

Ghani, however, believed that any agreement between the US and the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
would "throw him out of power, which was probably true, so he spearheaded a tremendous campaign to disrupt our negotiations," according to Pompeo.

He noted that the two met in Kabul on one occasion when Ghani refused "to negotiate in good faith.

However,
a hangover is the wrath of grapes...
the 2019 peace deal has been severely criticized by experts who argue that it did not lead to sustainable peace and stability in Afghanistan but rather than it was a face-saving device for the Trump administration to bring back US troops from Afghanistan.

Tanzania on high alert following US terror attack alarm in Dar es Salaam
[Garowe] The Security officials in Tanzania have assured both locals and foreigners that they are in top gear and investigating possible terror attack threats in the country’s commercial capital, Dar Es Salaam, and key towns.

This follows a US statement issued to warn its citizens of a potential terror attack in Tanzania’s commercial capital.

U.S. embassy in Dar Es Salaam cautioned Americans from frequenting areas populated by westerners in Dar es Salaam and other regions within the East African country.

US statement reads "Locations frequented by U.S. citizens and other Westerners in Dar es Salaam and elsewhere in Tanzania continue to be attractive targets to Death Eaters planning to conduct attacks. Terrorist groups could attack with little or no warning, targeting hotels, embassies, restaurants, malls and markets, cop shoppes, places of worship, and others."

As per the statement, Americans were advised to keep a low profile, be alert to their surroundings, and always practice security measures.
"U.S. citizens who travel abroad should always have a contingency plan for emergency situations," said the U.S. embassy.

However,
some men learn by reading. A few learn by observation. The rest have to pee on the electric fence for themselves...
security forces in Tanzania said that the country is free from any kind of terrorist acts and the country's security and safety are ensured.

David Misime-Tanzanian police spoke person in a statement said that the force called for citizens to remain calm and continue with their daily activities.

In 2021, a terrorist killed four people - three coppers and a private security guard in Dar es Salaam. The officers were manning the French Embassy’s guardhouse.

Arabia
Al-Houthi Warns of War Against Islam Waged by the Zionist Lobby and Western Collaborators
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The Leader of the Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
i Revolution, Sayyid Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
, on Friday called on the Islamic Ummah to have a clear, honest and courageous stance against the war waged by the enemies led by the Zionist lobby against Islam and Moslems.

"The forces of evil have reached the lowest level in spreading corruption and crime under the banner of "homosexuality" and other immoral crimes. They are trying to frame moral crimes under the banner of rights and freedoms and supporting them politically and legally," said Sayyid Abdul-Malik in his speech this evening on the occasion of the first Friday of Rajab month.

He added: "Linking loyalties to the material aspect is one of the worst things that the forces of tyranny and hypocrisy do, because it establishes a delinquency in societies, in their positions and prepares them to accept their corruption and falsehood."

"The tyrants seek to tear apart the structure of man in his social composition by targeting the family," Sayyed Abdul-Malik stated.

Sayyid Abdul-Malik stressed that the spread of Islam in European and non-Moslem societies aroused concern and disturbed enemies of Islam, so they burn the Noble Koran.

He pointed out that the Zionist lobby is the biggest enemy of Moslems, as it moves actively in America, Australia and in a number of European countries, stressing that a large part of the activity of the Zionist-Jewish lobby targets us in our countries."

Regarding the desecration of the Holly Koran, he said, "No justification for burning the Holy Koran. It is hostile, criminal and offensive."

He pointed out that the crime of burning the Holy Koran is a major attack against Moslems, a war against them that target the most sacred sanctities.

Sayyed Abdul-Malik condemned the silence of many Moslems about burning the Holy Koran.

"The silence over the burning of the Koran is a big crime, a great negligence, a terrible negligence, and a complete disclaimer of responsibility," Sayyid Abdul-Malik said.

India-Pakistan
No money, no food, but Pak has time to forcibly convert Hindus
[OneIndia] The minorities in Pakistain continue to face persecution. In fact during the COVID-19 induced lockdowns, The Hindu girls were not in schools and at their homes and the bride traffickers took full advantage of the situation and kidnapped them only to later convert them to Islam

Pakistain is reeling under all sorts of problems. Its economy is a mess and the rising incidents of terrorism have put the country on the back-foot.

This has however not stopped the Mullahs in Pakistain from forcibly converting the religious minorities especially the Hindus to Islam.

A recent UN report has expressed alarm over the rate at which the religious conversions are taking place in Pakistain. There has been a rise in forced conversion and marriages of maiden of tender yearss from religious minorities. The UN called on Pakistain to take immediate steps to curtail peace.

HINDUS MOST TARGETED:
Reports say that nearly a 1,000 girls from the religious minorities-Hindus, Sikhs, Christians are forced to convert and get married well under the legal age. Human Rights activist muppets said that it during the lockdowns against COVID-19 the forced conversions increased since the girls were out of schools and more visible. Bride traffickers are more active on the internet and families are more in debt, the activist muppets noted.

Most of the girls converted are from the Hindu community in southern Sindh province, a report noted. The US State Department had in 2020 declared Pakistain as a country of particular concern for violations of religious freedom. It said that underage girls in the minority Hindu, Christian and Sikh communities were kidnapped for forced conversion to Islam. They were forcibly married and subjected to rape.

Take the case of this 13 year old Christian girl from Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
. She disappeared from her home and her parents pleaded with the police to find her. They got back to the parents saying that the girl had been converted to Islam and was married off to their 40-year old Moslem neighbour.

Hindus make up for 2 per cent of the population, while Christians are less than 1.5 per cent in Pakistain's estimated population of 220 million.

COVERING UP THE ACT:
A judge in Islamabad had in 2019 placed two Hindu girls under the age of 18 in government custody and ordered a fair inquiry. The girls were forced to convert to Islam and marry Moslem men.

The girls however filed a petition in the court stating that they were over 18 and had willingly converted to Islam and married the men. This is exactly what the parents of the Hindu girls have been complaining about. They say that the minor girls are kidnapped and conversion and marriage are being used as a legal cover up to protect the abductors. The girls due to the threat of harm are giving false statements in the court.

Further the threat to the girls is so high that they refuse to take the medical examination to determine their age. The Pakistain police says that a medical examination cannot be forced against one's will.

For many Hindu families hope is fading and there is nothing that the government does about this issue. In October 2021, a parliamentary committee scrapped a proposed bill that would have criminalised forced conversions by proposing imprisonment up to 10 years.

CITIZENSHIP AMENDMENT ACT:
The Modi government introduced the Citizenship Amendment Act keeping such cases in mind. The CAA is aimed at providing a pathway for the persecuted religious minority in Afghanistan, Pakistain and Bangladesh to get Indian citizenship. It applies to The Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, Jain and Parsi community living in these countries.

However there was a section which was up in arms against the government alleging discrimination. The records by the Intelligence Bureau show that the CAA was beneficial immediately to 30,000 beneficiaries.

Those protesting the CAA said that the Moslems have been excluded from this list. However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
the counter-argument to this that since Pakistain, Afghanistan and Bangladesh have Islam as their state religion. Hence it is unlikely that Moslems would face religious persecution there.

Ally of former Pakistani PM Imran Khan jailed ahead of trial
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A Pak court on Friday sent to jail for two weeks a senior ally of former Prime Minister Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who is the lightweight's lightweight...
, after his arrest over allegations that he threatened the chief of the elections oversight body and other government officials.

Khan was ousted by a parliamentary no-confidence vote in April, but has refused to accept that outcome and has persisted in his calls for early elections, leading to a political standoff with the current government of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif
...Pak dynastic politician, brother of PM Nawaz Sharif, chief minister of Punjab...
Khan’s supporter Fawad Chaudhry was arrested from the eastern city of Lahore on Wednesday following a complaint from the Election Commission of Pakistain, which has accused him of threatening its head, Sikandar Sultan Raja, and other officials.

The government says Chaudhry’s threats were meant to prevent the commission’s officials from performing their duties and inciting people to violence against them, a charge Chaudhry’s lawyer Babar Awan denied.

Chaudhry, who serves as senior vice president in Khan’s Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
party, was in handcuffs when police brought him into the court Friday amid tight security.

The court ordered Chaudry to be held in jail for two weeks while Sherlocks formally submit charges against him before his formal trial begins.

Chaudhry’s wife Hiba Fawad after attending the court hearing told news hounds that her husband was fighting for the cause of democracy in Pakistain but the government was treating him like a "terrorist."

Pak police have asked Chaudhry to be charged with treason, a crime that the country’s legal forces normally use against murderous Moslems.

Chaudhry could face several years in prison if convicted of treason under Pakistain’s 1997 anti-terrorism law which carries up to the death sentence
...the barbaric practice of sentencing a murderer to be punished for as long as his/her/its victim is dead...
Human rights activist muppets for the past several years have asked successive governments not to misuse the law which was passed to give wider powers to police amid a surge in murderous Moslem and sectarian violence.

Pakistain is currently facing a deepening economic crisis that has seen its currency plunge against the US dollar, amid its political turmoil.

On Friday, Prime Minister Sharif in a televised speech said he hoped Pakistain would be able to relaunch talks with the International Monetary Fund in the coming days for a $6 billion bailout package. The negotiations have been on hold because of Islamabad’s reluctance to accept the package’s tough conditions.

was hatching as well as financing an liquidation plot against him for which the ex-president had hired "terrorists".

In a virtual presser, Khan — who was ousted as the prime minister in April last year — claimed four people orchestrated a plan "behind closed doors" to assassinate him.

"I got to know about it and then I recorded my video explaining the attack. In a public rally, I announced that I would release the video if something happened to me. They stepped back after this."

Without naming anyone again, Khan said that another plan was made to have me killed by a religious hard boy — indicating towards the November 3, 2022, Wazirabad attack, where he was shot in the legs and is still recovering from the injuries.

"Now, there's a Plan C. Asif Ali Zardari is behind it. He has amassed a lot of money through corruption and he has invested that money in Lions of Islam and hired a holy warrior organization."

"Bani Gala is the former prime minister’s private residence. He has not been staying in Islamabad for the past several months," a spokesperson for the capital's police said sharing the reason for the security’s withdrawal with Geo News.

In Khan’s absence, the spokesperson said, police from Islamabad and other provinces cannot be deployed over there.

Sources informed that one Deputy Superintendent of Police and 170 police personnel were deployed at Khan’s Islamabad home. The security personnel perform their duties in different shifts at Khan's Bani Gala residence.

Olde Tyme Religion
Egypt's Al-Azhar calls on Arab, Muslim peoples to boycott Dutch, Swedish products
[AlAhram] Egypt’s al-Azhar — the world's leading Sunni Moslem religious institution — has called on the Arab and Moslem peoples to boycott all Dutch and Swedish products and to take a strong and unified stance in support of the Koran, read a statement on Wednesday.

Al-Azhar's call for boycott, the statement added, is a proper response to the governments of the two countries that have offended 1.5 billion Moslems.

On Monday, Edwin Wagensveld, leader of the Dutch chapter of the German far-right group Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamicisation of the Occident (PEGIDA), tore apart pages of Islam's holy book and walked over them in an anti-Islam protest.

The incident in the Dutch city is the second in Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
in less than a week after Rasmus Paludan, leader of the Danish far-right political party Hard Line, had burned a copy of the Koran outside the Ottoman Turkish Embassy in Stockholm on Saturday.

In its statement, al-Azhar criticised the Dutch and Swedish governments for "protecting the barbaric crimes" committed under the "specious inhumane and immoral banner of their so-called ’freedom of expression.’"

They ought to call it the dictatorship of chaos and evil manners against civilised nations adhering to Allah and the guidance of heaven, the statement continued.

Al-Azhar added that all Arab and Moslem peoples should join the boycott and educate children, youth, and women about it. Failure to participate in the boycott is a failure to support the religion chosen for them by Allah, it noted.

"These deviants" will never appreciate the value of the religion — about which they know nothing and which they provoke its Moslem followers through mocking it — or be deterred unless they face material and economic challenges, al-Azhar said.

This is the only language they know, al-Azhar said. "They venerate nothing but the laws of abundance, production, and consumption."

The statement concluded by a verse from the Koran: "They know what is apparent of the worldly life, but they, of the Hereafter, are unaware."

On Tuesday, the Egyptian foreign ministry condemned in a statement the "disgraceful incident" in the Netherlands a few days after condemning the incident in Sweden, warning that the incidents fuel hate speech.

"The disgraceful incident [of Netherlands] goes beyond freedom of expression, violates Moslem sanctities, and fuels hate speech between religions and peoples in a way that threatens communal security and stability," the foreign ministry's statement read on Tuesday.

On Saturday, the ministry warned that this "disgraceful act [of Sweden] provokes the feelings of hundreds of millions of Moslems around the world."

"These krazed killer practices are inconsistent with the values of respect of others, freedom of belief, human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
and human fundamental freedoms," the ministry stressed.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran releases dissident journalist held since 2020 — family
[IsraelTimes] Keyvan Samimi, 74, was sentenced to three years in prison for allegedly plotting against national security.

Iranian dissident journalist Keyvan Samimi, imprisoned since December 2020, was released on Thursday, his family told AFP.

Samimi, 74, had been sentenced to three years in prison for "plotting against national security."

"Samimi, who had been transferred last year to Semnan prison," located nearly 200 kilometers (125 miles) east of Tehran, "was released this afternoon," his family said.

The journalist had been granted permission to leave prison on medical grounds in February 2022.

But he returned to prison in May after being suspected of carrying out activities against national security, Iran’s Mehr news agency said.

In December, Samimi sent a message from his cell in support of the protest movement that has shaken Iran
...They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
since the September 16 death of Mahsa Amini.

The 22-year-old Iranian Kurd died in the custody of the morality police in Tehran after her arrest for an alleged breach of the Islamic republic’s dress code for women.

Samimi has spent time behind bars before and after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Azerbaijan to evacuate embassy in Iran after deadly attack
[An Nahar] Azerbaijan said Friday it will evacuate its embassy in Iran
...They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
after an attack killed one person there and maimed two others, accusing Tehran of not taking threats made against its diplomatic mission seriously.

The move comes amid monthslong tensions between the neighboring nations.

Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry made the announcement in a statement.

"There have been attempts to threaten our diplomatic mission in Iran before, and measures to prevent such situations and to ensure the safety of our diplomatic missions have been constantly raised before Iran," the ministry said. "Unfortunately, the last bloody terrorist attack demonstrates the serious consequences of not showing proper sensitivity to our urgent appeals in this direction."

There was no immediate reaction from Iran on the announcement.

A man armed with a Kalashnikov-style rifle stormed the Azerbaijan Embassy in Iran's capital Friday, killing the head of security at the diplomatic post and wounding two guards, authorities said.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. AP's earlier story follows below.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — A man armed with a Kalashnikov-style rifle stormed the Azerbaijan Embassy in Iran's capital Friday, killing the head of security at the diplomatic post and wounding two guards, authorities said.

Tehran's police chief, Gen. Hossein Rahimi, blamed the attack on "personal and family problems," according to Iranian state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
. However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate...
the assault comes as tensions have been high for months between neighboring Azerbaijan and Iran.

Video purportedly from the scene of the attack showed an empty diplomatic police post just near the embassy, with one man apparently maimed in an SUV parked outside. Inside the embassy past a metal detector, paramedics stood over what appeared to be a lifeless body in a small office as blood pooled on the floor beneath.

A statement from Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry said that "an investigation is currently underway into this treacherous attack." The ministry also described the attacker as destroying a guard post with assault rifle fire before being stopped by the maimed guards, whom authorities described as being in a "satisfactory" condition after being shot.

Oueidat says his move was to avoid 'bloodshed on the streets'
[An Nahar] State Prosecutor Ghassan Oueidat has said that his latest controversial procedures that defied Judge Tarek Bitar’s measures in the port blast case were aimed at "avoiding bloodshed on the streets."

"I prevented blood on the streets, but I don’t know if I’ve only postponed it should the situation continue as it is," Oueidat said, in remarks to al-Joumhouria newspaper published Friday.

Denying that he has "recused" himself from his "jurisdiction," Oueidat stressed that he is "the state prosecutor who is in charge of the entire file" and that his powers are "ultimate."

"I prosecute and I do not get prosecuted," a defiant Oueidat added.

"As for Judge Tarek Bitar, he has no designation and he is inept to continue the mission from which he has been recused. How can he stand in front of the mirror and take a decision with himself?" the prosecutor added, referring to Bitar’s decision to resume his probe following a legal study that he himself conducted, in which he defied dozens of recusal requests filed against him by accused politicians and other parties.

"All those who have been misled must know that Bitar has no right to return to the file and resume the work that he left 13 months ago except after decisions are issued by the general commission and the courts of cassation on all the complaints," Oueidat went on to say.

He added: "This investigative judge now needs an investigative judge into his violations and this is the mission of the first president of the Court of Cassation, the Higher Judicial Council chief, and I hope he will not be late in addressing the issue."

Oueidat has filed charges against Bitar and ordered the release of all suspects, after the later resumed his probe, charged eight more suspects in the case and ordered the release of only five detainees.

The Aug. 4, 2020 explosion of hundreds of tons of highly flammable ammonium nitrate, a material used in fertilizers, killed 218 people, injured over 6,000 and damaged large parts of Beirut.

The release of the port probe detainees drew protests from family members of those killed in the blast.

Lebanon Hezbollahstan
...the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity™, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade...
's highest judicial body, the Higher Judicial Council, was scheduled to meet Thursday afternoon to discuss the developments. Advocates for Bitar, who include many of the families of the blast victims, feared the council would issue a decision to remove Bitar from the probe, but the session was canceled due to a lack of quorum. Oueidat was in the building but failed to join the council and stayed in his office guarded by armored security forces, who later escorted him out amid protests.

Opposition, change MPs deplore 'black Wednesday', slam Oueidat moves as 'surreal'
[An Nahar] Opposition and change MPs called Friday in a joint statement for the resumption of the Beirut port blast probe, refusing the appointment of an alternate judge and urging for an indictment to be issued as soon as possible.

MP Waddah al-Sadek who spoke on behalf of the MPs demanded that Public Prosecutor Judge Ghassan Oueidat be held accountable over his latest "flagrant violations."

The MPs also called for open-ended parliamentary sessions until the election of a president.

Oueidat had on Wednesday charged Judge Tarek Bitar with "usurping power" and insubordination, and slapped him with a travel ban, after the latter decided, in a surprise move, to resume his investigation after a 13-month hiatus, charging eight new suspects including high-level security officials and Oueidat.

The MPs called it a "black Wednesday" and a judicial coup d'etat and dubbed Oueidat's decisions as "illegal" and "surreal."

The Higher Judicial Council, was scheduled to meet Thursday to discuss the latest developments in the inquest. Advocates for Bitar, who include many of the families of the blast victims, feared the council would issue a decision to remove the maverick judge from the probe, but the session was canceled under popular pressure.

Ahead of the canceled session, several demonstrators were maimed as police pushed the crowds back from outside Beirut's historical Palace of Justice, and beat some people with batons.

Chaos also ensued Thursday inside the Justice Palace, after over a dozen politicians from reformist and traditional opposition parties met with caretaker Justice Minister Henri Khoury.

The heated meeting about the recent developments in the Beirut port probe led to scuffles with the minister’s guards who allegedly tried to snatch their phones as they filmed the meeting. Some of them say they were attacked, and have called for Khoury to resign.

"We condemn the barbaric attack on the people and their representatives in a way that does not befit justice," Sadek said.
