Kurt Schlichter - Savor the Democrats' Humiliation
[Townhall] There’s no sense in pretending that we don’t take pleasure in the total failure of our Marxist-curious party of the left. Through a combination of outright fraud, procedural irregularities, plus the total support of the garbage establishment and its failed institutions, the Democrats took power by the thinnest of margins and have proceeded to fail on a level comparable to Heaven’s Gate, New Coke, and the Weekly Standard. There’s no shame in enjoying their total rejection by all decent Americans. In fact, you should enjoy it without hesitation or mercy, especially since it means more than just us cons getting our jollies.

The Democrats’ "Biden is FDR and not just a desiccated, pervy old weirdo" dreams have died. Their dreams of five trillion in handouts to bums and donors have died. Their dreams of enshrining their ability to cheat in elections have died. The Democrats can’t even shatter norms, like the filibuster, competently.

So much fail in so little time. The Latinx community — which the Dems put all their faith in as part of an unstoppable future majority, is rejecting them, in large part because Democrats are the kind of people who use the word "Latinx" unironically. Some foreigners, seeing the Democrats’ weakness and stupidity — it’s not just Commander-in-Chief Crusty who is the problem — are chomping at the bit to chomp off pieces of other countries because they know that the Dems put the "feck" in "feckless." The rest are invading our country through what used to be a border. Inflation is up, the market is down, and November 2022 is approaching just over the horizon like a Tongan tsunami.

Noted dead white guy Samuel Johnson, who believed that there are only two genders, once observed, "Depend upon it, Sir, when a man knows he is to be hanged in a fortnight, it concentrates his mind wonderfully." It’s an apt analogy here, both because it evokes the fact that the Democrats have gone all-in on the side of the criminals as the crime rate rockets up, and also because it demonstrates just how intractably stupid the Democrats are. They ride in the little cart heading toward their November 8th date with the electoral noose, but their minds are not concentrated on that. Instead they are concentrated on fake insurrections and telling us how CRT is not taught in schools yet must absolutely continue to be taught in schools.

This is unsustainable, and normal people would know it, but normal people are not quasi-Marxist pagan fanatics who drove actual religion out of their lives and let commie nonsense fill the void. They can’t stop it, even if they wanted to stop it, because their collection of bizarre obsessions is not merely an ideology but a substitute for actual faith. Progressivism is their god. Unfortunately for them, it’s a false god. It’s a political golden calf, except they oppose the gold standard because it wouldn’t let them print all the cash they want to spend, and Dems are leery of cattle because their Swalwellian flatulence causes global warming, which is another facet of their fake, foolish faith.

#1  the Dems got thru a $2B or so Covid relief bill in the spring of 2021 which will likely get several $100M to outright partisan leftists, shady 501 'charities' and grifter contractors

they got a big 'infrastructure' bill through also

they haven't given up on the voter fraud bill either

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Biden Admin Withholds Secret Iran Agreement From Congress
[WFB h/t Insty] The Obamaites still trying to appease Iran. You KNOW Kerry's hip deep in this shit
The Biden administration is withholding a "secret agreement" with Iran from Congress as negotiations over a revamped nuclear deal continue in Vienna, according to two Republican lawmakers.

Reports emerged late Friday that Russia proposed an interim nuclear deal to Iran with the knowledge of U.S. officials. The deal would reportedly lift some sanctions on Iran in exchange for a limited set of restrictions on the country’s nuclear program. Russia offered the deal to Iran on the sidelines of ongoing negotiations in Vienna, according to NBC News, which first reported on the document. Tehran is said to have rejected the interim deal, saying that it prefers a large-scale agreement that will provide it with billions in cash windfalls. Republican lawmakers say details of the agreement are being kept from Congress.

"Russia sent a secret agreement to Iran," Rep. Michael McCaul (R., Texas), lead Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, told the Washington Free Beacon on Friday during a press call. "Russia is trying to take the lead now in the negotiations with Iran. This is a secret agreement. We haven’t seen it."

The existence of this document indicates that the United States and international partners are eyeing an alternative interim agreement with Iran as efforts to ink a revamped version of the 2015 accord stall due to Iran’s increasingly hardline stance. Republicans in Congress say that, during the past year, the Biden administration has ignored requests for briefings on the status of talks and what a new deal will look like. The Free Beacon first reported last week that the Biden administration is obstructing more than a dozen congressional investigations into the negotiations and sanctions relief.

The Biden administration is required to present any new deal to Congress before it is signed due to a 2015 law, the Iran Nuclear Deal Review Act, that was passed after the Obama administration skirted congressional oversight to sign the original accord.

"Reports that the Biden administration is working with the Russians on a secret nuclear agreement with Iran are doubly concerning," Rep. Mike Gallagher (R., Wis.), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, told the Free Beacon. "First, they create a conflict of interest with Russia as we are trying to prevent an invasion of Ukraine. Second, preemptive sanctions relief, and failure to transmit an interim agreement to Congress, would violate the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act. The administration needs to end their simultaneous surrender to Russia and Iran before it's too late."

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R., N.Y.), chair of the House Republican Conference, said during Friday’s call that the Biden administration is more secretive about negotiations than the Obama administration.

"In the Obama era they tried to communicate with members of Congress to try to convince us—they didn’t—that it was a good deal," Stefanik said. "But there has been virtually no communication with the Biden admin and House Republicans on important committees related to this issue."

Secretary of State Antony Blinken, during a Friday press conference after a meeting with Russia’s foreign minister, said the United States hopes that Moscow will use its influence with Iran to push it into accepting a new deal.

"I have to say that Russia shares our sense of urgency, the need to see if we can come back into mutual compliance in the weeks ahead," Blinken said. "And we hope that Russia will use the influence that it has and relationship that it has with Iran to impress upon Iran that sense of urgency, and equally, that if we’re unable to do that because Iran refuses to undertake the obligations that are necessary, that we will pursue a different path in dealing with the danger posed by Iran’s renewed nuclear program."

McCaul also disclosed on the press call that unclassified estimates indicate Iran is "on the cusp of their enrichment to nuclear grade" material and will have a functional "nuclear bomb within the next year to a year and a half."

As negotiations took place during the past year, Iran amplified its enrichment of uranium—the key component in an atomic bomb—to historically high levels. It also has continued work on ballistic missiles and other advanced equipment that can supplement its nuclear program.

If a new deal with the United States is reached, Iran will see all economic sanctions imposed on it by the Trump administration removed. This includes sanctions on Iran’s oil sector, a key source of cash for the regime.

Economy
Bosses Lament Loss of Migrants
Above is the front-page title in Sunday's Dallas Morning News paper.
[Dallas Morning News] The pandemic hammered the U.S. economy, revealing serious labor shortages. Now economists are highlighting a major factor: disappearing immigrant workers, both unauthorized and with visas.
There's two kinds of migrants again?
Can't even process legal immigrants fast enough because of the deadly coronavirus.
"This is bad for Texas’ economy, just like it’s bad for the economy in every other part of the United States," said Alex Nowrasteh, director of policy and economic studies at the libertarian-centric Cato Institute. "People fuel economic growth and without more people, our economy is going to stagnate and eventually shrink."
Unless we all die from the deadly coronavirus first.
Nowrasteh estimates that 1.6 million to 3.2 million immigrant workers would have been added to the labor mix had the economy continued on its go-go 2016 trajectory, when a high of 1,065,000 migrants came to the U.S. from other countries, according to the Census Bureau.
That was the Obama economy, in 2016. More migrants in 2016? The legal ones, perhaps.
The bureau says net migration fell to 247,000 last year.
I bet the Border Patrol would beg to differ.
Giovanni Peri, director of the Global Migration Project at the University of California, Davis, estimates that 2 million immigrant workers are missing from the U.S. economy.
Don't worry - the Border Patrol found them.
He and other experts say the labor shortage has several causes: a decline in the legal variety ofimmigration, accelerated retirements and what many call the Great Resignation, where workers job hop for better wages or sit out the pandemic for months waiting for the next installment of free money.

All are fallout from the wallop COVID-19 has delivered on the nation.
None of it due to media spin or Bidenomics.
"This is so hard to just turn around quickly," Peri said. He believes the labor shortages will persist for 18 months to two years.
Unless we all die of the deadly coronavirus first.

#3  And now we have yet more negative efficacy data -- not just from Israel but now the U.K. Health Security Agency and Public Health Scotland have (largely) stopped trying to hide the data.

Their own data indicate with crystal clarity: the vaccine boosters cause MORE infections and as many if not MORE deaths than not being vaxxed or just having the first two jabs.

The vaccine is FAILING. Everywhere.

The German doctor "eugyppius" and his many astute commenters show the UKHSA and PHS data here:

"Unboosted Brits Infected and Dying at Higher Rates than Unvaccinated | UKHSA Vaccine Efficacy Statistics: Week 3"

#4  The "vaccines" are a scam. Do. Not. Work.
Posted by: M. Murcek || 01/24/2022 14:32 Comments || Top||

#5  Their counts of the various vaxxed groups are even more screwed up because these public health authorities fail to correctly attribute within the vaxxed-but-no-boost and the vaxxed + boosters.

Sum: They are overstating the efficacy of the boosters and the vaxx -- and yet their own botched-up counts make it clear that the vaccine is ineffective.

To be precise, their attribution problem occurs because they code their cases in such a way that, for the first 14 days post-booster shot, the individual is considered "unboosted." This has the effect of always making the most recent (T minus 14 days) data look better than it actually is.

It's possible that they committed the same error when the first and second jabs occurred, i.e. attributing many of the cases that occurred within 14 days of receiving the vax to the unvaccinated instead of the vaxxed -- and then never bothering to go back and re-allocate those cases correctly.

= a data shitshow

#6  The essence of globalization is: labor is commoditized as mobile capital is free to roam the globe for the lowest cost labor. In contrast, labor is far less mobile, and unable to shift as fluidly and frictionlessly as capital to exploit scarcities and opportunities.

Neoliberalism--the opening of markets and borders--enables capital to effortlessly crush labor. The social democrats, in embracing open borders, have institutionalized an open immigration that shreds the scarcity value of domestic labor in favor of lower cost immigrant labor that serves capital's desire for lower costs.

‘A Staggering Act of Appeasement'
[NYSun] The decision of the Biden administration to arrange for the payment of Iran’s dues at the United Nations is being described to us as "a staggering act of appeasement." That is the phrase used by our sometimes legwoman at the United Nations, Claudia Rosett. We had called her to see what she made of the news. Her tirade is probably still echoing down the telephone lines from the fastness of upstate New York.

The gist of the story is that Iran had failed to pay its dues at the United Nations and had in consequence lost its voting rights in the World Body. One would think that this would be a boon for America. It’s the fruit of American sanctions, after all, and would mean that Iran would be able to foment less trouble at Turtle Bay. If that’s what one thinks, though, one would not be a muckety muck in the Biden administration.

Good question. I 'called a friend' who flew both the A and D models of the 53 and was familiar with the mission of all four airframes:

"The V-22 has speed on its side and distance/ well over the horizon capabilities. V-22 limitations is the amount of lift, cargo and troops. The V-22 took the place of the CH-46 Sea Knight helo which was a medium lift. The 53 is a heavy lift helo."

But, some commenters fall into these categories. If the article says, "The sky is blue," the commenter will come back with:

"Only a fool would say it was blue."
"What's so good about blue skies?"
"It's never been blue for me."
"You know nothing. There is no blue."

Unearthed: The secret behind America's most terrifying killing spree. Seventeen innocents were seemingly slaughtered at random... but a major documentary series uncovers the real motive of the shootings that shocked the world 20 years ago
  • John Allen Muhammad and Lee Malvo were the infamous Washington snipers

  • The pair killed 17 people across the US during a ten-month rampage in 2002

  • Muhammad was executed by lethal injection in 2009 and Malvo is behind bars

  • Their story is told in Channel 4 documentary 'I, Sniper: The Washington Killers'

For more than three weeks in October 2002, warped Gulf war veteran John Muhammad and his teenage accomplice Lee Malvo cowed the American capital and its suburbs as they indiscriminately shot 13 residents with their Bushmaster rifle from the boot of their car.

The big-budget six-part series, more than four years in the making and including interviews with up to 300 people, reveals for the first time that the two men were gay lovers. The motivation for the killings was the older man's obsession with getting revenge on his ex-wife for his defeat in a custody battle.

It is now nearly 20 years since the Washington snipers held America hostage. Muhammad, a black American, was executed by lethal injection on November 10, 2009, at Greensville Correctional Centre in Virginia.

However, Malvo, now 36, is still serving multiple life sentences at the supermax prison Red Onion State, and he agreed to be interviewed at length for the series.

Both men came from dysfunctional families: Muhammad was raised by an aunt in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He had been found clinging to the body of his mother after she died of cancer when he was three, while Malvo was abandoned by his Jamaican parents Leslie and Una on the Caribbean island of Antigua, where he scratched a living selling bootleg CDs.

After joining the U.S. army, Muhammad rose to the rank of sergeant, but he also got involved in black nationalist organisation the Nation Of Islam and changed his surname from Williams to Muhammad. However, serving in the Gulf War changed him, according to his second wife, Mildred, the mother of his three children.

'I believe something happened in Desert Storm,' she tells the film-makers.

In 1999, after 14 years of marriage, the couple separated, driven apart by his aggressive behaviour and incessant womanising.

The following year, Muhammad kidnapped his three children, and fled to Antigua. It was only after he returned to the U.S. to live in Bellingham, a town in Washington state near the U.S. border with Canada, that the police caught up with him.

A subsequent court hearing on September 4, 2001 — in which Muhammad discovered Mildred had divorced him in his absence — granted his ex-wife full custody of their children and proved the catalyst for his murder spree.

Mildred attended court with their former accountant, Isa Nichols, who had become a close friend, and it was Isa's niece who became the snipers' first victim.

By now, Muhammad had recruited his partner in crime, Lee Malvo, then 15, whom he had met by chance in Antigua.

On Muhammad's advice, Malvo read military and history books, and listened to speeches by Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and Muslim minister Malcolm X.

The older man — who had earned his Expert Rifleman's Badge in the army — began training his protege to become a sniper, taking him to a shooting range, and working out with him at the YMCA to get him into peak physical shape.

Malvo's mother, Una, had not given up on him, however, and she arrived in Washington two months later in search of her son.

The teenager was apprehended by Border Patrol at the YMCA and, before returning him to his mother's custody, immigration officers took his fingerprints and entered them into their database. It was these prints which would ultimately lead to his downfall.

But Mrs Malvo failed to hold on to her son for long. He was soon reunited with Muhammad and at 7pm, on February 16, 2002, they claimed their first victim.

According to Malvo, the idea was to commit so many random killings that when Muhammad got round to targeting his ex-wife, no one would link him to her murder.

Chairman of Jan. 6 committee reveals Bill Barr has spoken to investigators and says there's 'credible evidence' that Trump administration planned to use military to seize voting machines in 2020
Old news someone is trying to turn into new scandal. President Trump never acted on it, and may not even have known about it.
  • The former attorney general left Trump administration in late December 2020

  • Days earlier Trump was allegedly presented with a draft executive order that would have had the Defense Secretary seize voting machines

  • It would have also seen a special counsel appointed to investigate baseless 2020 election fraud claims

  • Rep. Thompson confirmed such a draft existed during an interview on Sunday

  • 'A plan was put forward to potentially seize voting machines in the country and utilize Department of Defense assets to make that happen,' he said

FBI searches Center for COVID Control headquarters amid investigations into multi-million dollar testing business
[USA Today] CHICAGO — The FBI on Saturday searched the headquarters of a nationwide string of coronavirus testing sites known as the Center for COVID Control.

The company and its main lab, which has been reimbursed more than $124 million from the federal government for coronavirus testing, are under investigation by state and federal officials. The company and lab are registered at the same address in Rolling Meadows, Illinois.

"The FBI was conducting court-authorized law enforcement activity in Rolling Meadows yesterday," Siobhan Johnson, a spokesperson for the FBI's Chicago office, told USA TODAY Sunday.

A Center for COVID Control spokesperson did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Asked about the law enforcement activity, Annie Thompson, a spokesperson for the Illinois Attorney General's Office, said the attorney general "is absolutely committed to protecting residents from those who attempt to profit off of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic."

#4  Prof. Qimron of Tel Aviv U. and Dr Robert Malone, inventor of the mRNA treatment method itself, are correct: Mass experimental gene therapy (mislabeled as COVID "vaccination") is a complete fail.

Even the Israelis recognize this now -- humiliatingly, the Palestinian death rate from COVID is exactly the same as Israel's, even though the Palestinians' vaccination rate is only about 1/4th the Israeli vaccination rate.

It's undeniable now: forcing the mass population to engage in this gene therapy experiment has caused more harm than good.

Here's data from September 2021 (likely even worse now) for "vaccination," infection, and fatality rates for Israel and for the Palestinians in the Territories:

% Population receiving 2 Doses – Fully Vaccinated COVID:
Israel 61%
Palestinians 17%

% Population infected with COVID:
Israel 12.3%
Palestinians 7.7%

COVID fatality rate (% of overall population):
Israel 0.079% (7,261 out of 9.2m pop.)
Palestinians 0.079% (4,048 out of 5.1 pop.(

US Orders Families Of Diplomats To "Immediately" Leave Ukraine As Biden Weighs Deploying Thousands Of Troops To Eastern Europe
[ZERO] On Friday we said, half-jokingly, that it feels like a false-flaggy weekend...... and while so far luckily World War III fighting has not erupted (even if the German head of the navy lost his job for telling the truth), moments ago the US has once again done everything in its power to further inflame tensions when it ordered family members of US government workers at the US embassy in Kyiv to leave Ukraine "due to the continued threat of Russian military action," the State Department said Sunday.

"There are reports Russia is planning significant military action against Ukraine," the State Department said in the advisory. "The security conditions, particularly along Ukraine’s borders, in Russia-occupied Crimea, and in Russia-controlled eastern Ukraine, are unpredictable and can deteriorate with little notice."

The advisory also urged U.S. citizens in Ukraine to consider leaving the country now using commercial or other private travel options, while a travel advisory elevated Ukraine to "Level 4: Do Not Travel":

Gingrich: January 6 Committee, AG Garland ‘Lynch Mob' ‘Face a Real Risk of Jail’
[Breitbart] Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich sees alleged abuses by the House Select Committee and the Department of Justice investigating the January 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol as having consequences.

During an appearance on FNC’s "Sunday Morning Futures," Gingrich suggested those who he said were misusing and abusing the process could "face a real risk of jail" for the laws they had broken during the so-called investigation.

"Well, you have, both with Attorney General Garland and with this select committee on January 6, people who have run amok," he said. "They are breaking the rules. They are going after people in a way which is reminiscent of the British monarchy using closed-door systems that we outlawed deliberately because we’d seen it. We knew what it was like. And they’re running over people’s civil liberties. And what they need to understand is, on January 4 next year, you’re going to have a Republican majority in the House and a Republican majority in the Senate."

"And all these people who’ve been so tough and so mean and so nasty are going to be delivered subpoenas for every document, every conversation, every tweet, every email, because I think it’s clear that this — these are people who are literally just running over the law, pursuing innocent people, causing them to spend thousands and thousands of dollars in legal fees, for no justification," Gingrich continued. "And it’s basically a lynch mob."

"Unfortunately, the attorney general of the United States has joined that lynch mob and is totally misusing the FBI," he added. "And I think, when you have a Republican Congress, this is all going to come crashing down, and the wolves are going to find out that they’re now sheep. And they’re the ones who are, in fact, going to, I think, face a real risk of jail for the kind of laws they are breaking."

Government Corruption
Biden Family Received ‘Some $31 Million' from Individuals Linked to ‘Highest Levels of Chinese Intelligence'
[Breitbart] Breitbart News senior contributor Peter Schweizer on Sunday revealed how the Biden family have profited from business with individuals "linked to the highest levels of Chinese intelligence."

Schweizer, the author of Red-Handed: How American Elites Get Rich Helping China Win, said Biden’s son Hunter, while the elder Biden was serving as both vice president and president, was engaged in deals with individuals tied to the highest levels of Chinese intelligence. He called the Biden family’s business dealings "unprecedented."

"One of the most startling things we uncovered is the simple fact that the Biden family, while he was vice president of the United States and continuing when he became president, received some $31 million from Chinese individuals who are linked to the highest levels of Chinese intelligence," Schweizer outlined on Fox News Channel’s Life, Liberty & Levin.

He continued, "And these deals, which we lay out in the book, were carried out by a couple of individuals. One is a guy named Che Feng. Hunter Biden, in the Hunter Biden emails, refers to him as the Super Chairman. That’s kind of his nickname for him, and he says in one email, ’I don’t believe in the lottery anymore, but I believe in the Super Chairman.'"

"His business partner was the vice minister at the ministry for state security," Schweizer added. "He was in charge of, among other things, recruiting foreign nationals to spy for China. He was the head of something called the Number Eight Bureau. It doesn’t get any higher than that. These are the sorts of individuals that were striking deals with Hunter Biden. In this particular case, Che Feng happened to help a $20 million deal be secured. Another individual that helped arrange that deal is a guy named Mr. Zhao. Mr. Zhao helped with that $20 million deal. He also sent $5 million to Hunter Biden, and he sent that money from a very interesting business called Harvest Global."

Their Chinese partner firm is a shell corporation used by the Chinese military to entrap foreign politicians and then use them to advance China's agenda -- think of the Nevada senator framed by the Corleones in Godfather Pt II.

All this was known in October 2020. And our totalitarian joke of a media industry spiked the story and helped a senile muppet attain the WH.

Arabia
US Navy seizes vessel carrying potential explosives
[Rudaw] The US Navy on Sunday announced that it had stopped and forcibly taken over a stateless fishing vessel in the Gulf of Oman carrying 40 tons of a fertilizer potentially used to make explosives.

According to a statement by the US 5th Fleet, based in Bahrain, the "guided-missile destroyer USS Cole and patrol coastal ship USS Chinook interdicted the stateless vessel transiting from Iran
...Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979...
in waters outside of any state’s territorial sea."

"US forces discovered 40 tons of urea fertilizer, a chemical compound with agricultural applications that is also known to be used as an explosive precursor," the statement continued.

The ship was seized along a route infamously used to smuggle weapons to the Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
s
in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
. The statement also describes the same "stateless fishing vessel" as one that was caught carrying thousands of AK-47 assault rifles, rocket-propelled grenade launchers, heavy sniper rifles, and other weapons off the coast of Somalia last February.

Following the ship’s capture on January 18, the US Navy handed over the vessel, as well as all its components, to Yemen Coast Guard officials on January 21.

An early January AFP report stated that the United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
(UN) had found thousands of weapons seized in the Arabian Sea not long ago. The weapons all likely came from a single port in Iran, evidence Tehran is exporting arms to Yemen and elsewhere.

The incident comes as Tehran’s negotiating team heads back to Vienna amid talks to revive the 2015 nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Despite the Vienna talks making significant progress, the subject of lifting sanctions on Iran have been stalled by Washington.

While the US, under former President Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons......
’s administration withdrew from the talks, Iran has enormously increased its uranium enrichment. Iran’s atomic energy agency in November said that its stockpile of 20 percent enriched uranium has reached over 210 kilograms, while it was not meant to enrich uranium above 3.67 percent according to the JCPOA.

American and Iranian warships in the Persian Gulf had a tense encounter last April, when an Iranian ship cut in front of the American ship, causing the vessel to stop abruptly.

The US and G7 member states last July accused Iran of a drone attack on a ship off the coast of Oman that killed two sailors, holding British and Romanian nationalities respectively. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken vowed to hold Iran responsible for the attack, while Iran denied responsibility.

In 2020, eleven Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN) vessels approached the US Navy’s 5th Fleet while they were "conducting joint integration operations" with Apache attack helicopters in the Persian Gulf.

China-Japan-Koreas
Taiwan detects 39 Chinese warplanes, scrambles jets
[DW] Dozens of Chinese jets entered Taiwan's air defense zone, the island's officials said. Taiwan responded by scrambling its own fighter jets and activating missile defense systems.

Taiwan reported on Sunday that 39 Chinese warplanes, including a bomber, were detected in the south-western Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). The island's ADIZ is not the same as territorial airspace but instead is self-declared airspace that is monitored for national security purposes.

There was no immediate comment from Beijing on the latest developments.

WHAT HAS TAIWAN REPORTED?
The island's ministry of defense said 34 fighter aircraft and an H-6 bomber were among the aircraft involved in the incursion.

According to flight paths the ministry officials posted online, Chinese aircraft flew to the northeast of the Taiwan-controlled Pratas Island.

In response, Taiwan scrambled its own fighter aircraft and broadcast radio warnings while air defense missile systems were deployed to monitor the activity, the ministry said in a statement posted on Twitter.

WHAT IS THE US STANCE?
“Hey — ice cream girl! Tell them President Joe is ready for his ice cream RIGHT NOW!!”
“Sorry, Mr. Deutsche Welle Journalist. We’ll get back to you in about half an hour, unless he falls asleep in the meantime.”
Sunday's alleged incursion was the largest since October 2021, when 56 aircraft were recorded entering the ADIZ.

In November, Taiwan again scrambled its own fighter jets after 27 Chinese aircraft entered the ADIZ.

Taiwan has complained for months of incursions into its ADIZ by China's air force, usually in the southwestern part near the Pratas Islands, which it controls.

The island's defense chiefs have accused Beijing of employing "gray zone" tactics to increase pressure on the Taiwanese military.

The US officially follows the "One China" policy and recognizes Taiwan as a part of China. However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
Washington is also committed by law to ensure Taiwan can defend itself and to treat all threats toward it as matters of grave concern.

Beijing's military activity in the region has has led to growing tensions with Washington, who in turn has increased its military presence in the Indo-Pacific.

Briefly about Ukraine
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin:

[ColonelCassad] 1. China has denied the fakes thrown in the West that Xi Jinping asked Putin not to attack Ukraine during the Olympics

2. The US Department of State has refuted statements thrown in the Western press that the US is preparing to evacuate diplomats from Ukraine. Yes, what are you going to do.

3. Instead of inviting Shoigu to come to Britain, Britain will send its defense minister to Moscow. "Call to the carpet" failed.

4. The US asks Russia not to publish the content of the written response to the Russian demands, which will be submitted to the Russian Federation next week.

5. Germany refuted statements thrown by the Western press about the evacuation of diplomats from Ukraine. Isn't it time to find the source of these stuffing about evacuation?

6. Britain accused Russia of wanting to install a puppet government in Ukraine with the participation of Muraev, Azarov, Arbuzov, etc. persons. Given the fact that some of these people Moscow was not particularly eager to form a "provisional government" in 2014, especially since it will not do this in 2022, all these are old political corpses.

7. The United States and Britain are preparing new parties of various weapons, ammunition and ammunition, which would be transferred to Ukraine in the next few days. So far, it looks like there is a hasty pumping of weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine before the inevitable provocation in the Donbass (or in some other place), while the US State Department is playing for time and chattering Russian proposals before the start of events.

Afghanistan
Islamic Emirate Calls for Diplomacy Over Durand Line
[TOLO] Ungrateful assholes?
This comes as a senior commander of the Islamic Emirate in the east of Afghanistan earlier warned that they would not allow anymore fencing of Durand Line.

The Minister of Interior of Pakistan, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad, in a video clip said that around 20 km of fencing along the Durand Line remained unfinished but will be completed soon.

"20 km fencing alongside Afghanistan’s (Durand Line) remains incomplete. We have a 200 km border with Iran in Baluchistan- the fencing is completed there," he said.

Fencing along the Durand Line has recently raised tensions between Kabul and Islamabad, but Rasheed Ahmad said that the current Afghan government pledged that the Afghan soil will not be used against Pakistan.

"The Taliban promised us that the Afghan soil will not be used against Pakistan. But the expectations of the people in Nangarhar, Kunar and Nuristan are high. If you (Afghans) want to come from legal ways, there is no problem. But we have problems with those who enter via illegal ways," he said.

The Islamic Emirate stressed that the issue of the Durand Line should be solved through talks.

"The Islamic Emirate still prefers to resolve all issues ... through talks," said Bilal Karimi, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate.

Analysts give various views about the fate of the Durand Line.

"If the Afghan sides claim to not recognize the Durand Line, it should provide documents to the UN to solve the issue" said Gen. Sama Sadat, a military veteran.

"The new remarks of the Pakistan Interior Ministry Sheik Rasheed indicate the continued stance of Pakistan which seeks to complete the fencing," said Tahir Khan, a Pakistani journalist.

The fencing of the Durand Line began in 2017.

House Republicans, Democrats Lobby Joe Biden to Cut U.S. Tariffs on China
Unspeakable.
[Breitbart] A total of 140 House Republicans and Democrats are lobbying President Joe Biden to cut United States tariffs on billions of dollars worth of China-made imports.

Last month, Breitbart News exclusively reported how Reps. Darin LaHood (R-IL), Jackie Walorski (R-IN), Ron Kind (D-WI), and Rep. Suzan DelBene (D-WA) were courting lawmakers to sign their letter to U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) Katherine Tai — urging her to allow more "made in China" imports to avoid U.S. tariffs.

The Section 301 tariffs on billions of dollars worth of China-made products were first imposed by former President Trump after a decades-long free trade consensus in Washington, D.C., that has eliminated 3.7 million American jobs from the U.S. economy from 2001 to 2018.

Though the Biden administration is set to preserve most of the China tariffs, Tai is currently reviewing more than 500 China-made products that could become excluded from the tariffs.

The letter, now signed by 140 House Republicans and Democrats, includes the signatures of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) as well as Reps. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), Burgess Owens (R-UT), Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY), Ken Buck (R-CO), Young Kim (R-CA), and Anthony Gonzalez (R-OH), among others.

[Khaama] An explosion has targeted a van in the western Herat province on Saturday, January 22, 2022, that killed six people and wounded nine more.

The explosion has taken place in Police District 12 of the provincial province.

Local health officials said among the dead bodies are four women and two men while among the wounded are five women and four children.

Turkish Charity pledges 80 tons of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan
[Khaama] Talk is cheap. Wish biscuits?
A Turkish Charity called Deniz Feneri Association has pledged to be delivered to Afghanistan 80 tons of humanitarian relief material comprised of foodstuff, clothing, and medical supplies.

The relief assistance is part of the "Charity Train" announced by the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to help the Afghan people in dire need.
Playing Ottoman big shot using borrowed money.
President Erdogan on Wednesday said that 70 tons of food, clothing, health, and emergency goods will be delivered to Afghanistan with the support of 10 non-governmental organizations under the coordination of Turkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency.

In response to Erdogan’s call, the association has pledged to send to Afghanistan 80 tons of humanitarian aid, including rice, flour, tomato paste, tea, mufflers, blankets, berets, and winter clothing.

The aids announcement comes as over half of the Afghan population are in desperate need of life-saving aid especially during the freezing season of winter that has unfolded in the war-torn country.

Britain
Linlithgow campaigners fight against renaming of Black Bitch
[Guardian] No visitor to Linlithgow can miss the prominent lettering across the gable end of the 17th-century tavern at the top of the high street: Black Bitch.

"There will be people who are offended and they have a right to their opinion," said Alistair Old. He is leading an energetic campaign to retain the pub’s name after its owner, Greene King, announced last month it would be rebranded as the Black Hound in line with its diversity policy. "But the people of Linlithgow wouldn’t have tolerated it if the name had racist connotations," Old added.

Local people are by no means oblivious to the force of these words, and most tell of incidents with visitors to the birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots where some hasty explanation has been required.

Legend has it that a black female greyhound would swim across Linlithgow loch to bring food to her master, who was sentenced to starve to death on an island. The town and its residents are steeped in the tale, which dates back to the 13th century. Children learn about loyalty at primary school, the faithful dog is on Linlithgow’s coat of arms and those who were born there are proud to use the moniker.

Tony Podesta Has Now Earned $1 Million Lobbying Biden White House For Blacklisted Chinese Tech Giant
[Daily Caller] Democratic lobbyist Tony Podesta has earned at least $1 million to lobby the White House on behalf of Huawei, a Chinese technology and telecommunications company blacklisted under the Trump administration.

Podesta, brother of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign chairman John Podesta, received $500,000 from Huawei to lobby the Executive Office of the President between October and December of 2021, according to lobbying disclosures filed late Thursday. Huawei first hired Podesta in July 2021 and paid the long-time Democrat operative $500,000 to lobby the White House from July to September 2021.

Podesta lobbied on "issues related to telecommunication services and impacted trade issues," according to disclosure forms. (RELATED: Lobbyist And Brother Of Senior Biden Aide Steve Ricchetti Quadruples His Fees From Last Year)

The Trump administration placed Huawei on a trade blacklist in May 2019 for allegedly building backdoors in its technology that could be used by China for economic espionage. The U.S. has also taken action to limit Huawei’s access to American semiconductors.

The Biden administration has not indicated it will lift trade restrictions on Huawei, telling CNBC in October 2021 that the company still posed a danger to national security.

Coup attempt in Burkina Faso
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin:

[ColonelCassad] In the early hours of Sunday morning, gunfire erupted from several military camps in Burkina Faso, the government said, but denied that the military had taken over. Heavy weapons shelling of the Sangul-Lamizana camp in the capital Ouagadougou, which hosts the army's general headquarters and a prison that houses soldiers involved in the failed 2015 coup attempt, began at least at 5:00 am (midnight ET) , according to a Reuters reporter.

The reporter later saw soldiers firing into the air in the camp. The witness also reported shooting at a military camp in Kaya, about 100 kilometers north of Ouagadougou.

The government of Burkina Faso has confirmed shootings in some military camps, but has denied reports on social media that the army has taken over.

“Information on social networks testifies to the seizure of territory by the army. The government, while confirming the exchange of fire in some barracks, refutes this information and urges the population to remain calm,” government spokesman Alkassum Maigi said in a statement.

Governments in West and Central Africa are on high alert for coups following successful coups over the past 18 months in Mali and Guinea. The military also came to power in Chad last year after President Idriss Déby died on the battlefield.

Earlier this month, Burkinabé authorities arrested a dozen soldiers on suspicion of plotting against the government.

The arrests followed a military leadership reshuffle in December, which some analysts saw as an attempt by President Rocha Kabore to solidify his support for the military.

An increase in violence in the West African country by Islamist militants linked to al-Qaeda and the Islamic State has killed more than 2,000 people in the past year, sparking violent street protests in November calling for Kabore to step down.

More demonstrations were planned for Saturday, but the government banned them and the police intervened to disperse hundreds of people trying to gather in Ouagadougou.

The government has suspended mobile internet several times, and a tense situation in November led the UN Special Envoy to West Africa to warn against any military coup.

Among the inmates at the Sangoulé Lamizana camp prison is General Gilbert Diendere, who was a major ally of former Burkina Faso President Blaise Compaore. Compaore was overthrown in the 2014 uprising.

Internet outages continue in the country's capital.

Conflicting reports continue to come in about what is happening, from the government's complete control of the situation to the complete success of the military coup. In general, let's wait for the result of the coup.

If the government retains control over the situation, the country will remain in the French sphere of influence for the time being. If it doesn’t, then it cannot be ruled out that the next film from the Tourist franchise will be made about Burkina Faso.

I wonder what the military in Niger thinks. Still, there are uranium mines in the country ...
Al Ahram adds:
Defense Minister Aime Barthelemy Simpore told state broadcaster RTB that a few barracks had been affected not only in Ouagadougou but in ``some cities elsewhere.`` He denied, however, that President Roch Marc Christian Kabore were tossed into the calaboose by the mutinous soldiers, even though his whereabouts remained unknown.

A news headline on the state broadcaster described the gunfire as ``acts of discontent by soldiers.''

``The military hierarchy is working to restore calm and serenity in the barracks,'' it read. ``Contrary to some information, no institution of the republic has been targeted.''

At the Lamizana Sangoule military barracks, however, angry soldiers shot into the air Sunday, directing their anger over army casualties at the president.

About 100 cycle of violences later left the base, chanting in support of the mutineers, but were stopped when security forces deployed tear gas.

The soldiers put a man on the phone with The News Agency that Dare Not be Named who said that they were seeking better working conditions for Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other...
's military amid the escalating fight against Islamic krazed killers.

Among their demands are increased manpower in the battle against bully boys, and better care for those maimed and the families of the dead. The mutinous soldiers also want the military and intelligence hierarchy replaced, he said.

The gunfire comes a day after protesters demanded his resignation at a demonstration in Ouagadougou. Kabore has faced growing opposition since his reelection in November 2020. Last month he fired his prime minister and replaced most of the Cabinet.

The Grand Turk
Turkish journalist Sedef Kabas jailed before trial for Erdogan insult
Serious countries don’t have laws against lèse-majesté.
[AlAhram] A well-known Ottoman Turkish journalist has been jugged
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
pending a trial for insulting President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than there are in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really most important...
, her lawyer said.

Sedef Kabas was taken into custody after she cited a proverb on television and social media referring to an ox. Under the insult law, tens of thousands have been prosecuted for targeting Erdogan since he became president in 2014 after more than a decade as prime minister.

Her lawyer, Ugur Poyraz, tweeted that she had been formally arrested during an appearance at court in Istanbul on Saturday. The judge accepted the prosecution argument that she posed a flight risk.

Kabas, 53, has hosted a series of high-profile TV shows over a career spanning three decades.

She was detained by police at her home in Istanbul early Saturday following her remarks on Tele 1 and Twitter.

Government figures condemned Kabas while opposition politicians defended her right to free speech.

``Insulting our nation's elected president with ugly and vulgar expressions is in fact an attack on the national will,'' tweeted Numan Kurtulmus, deputy head of the ruling party.

Opposition party leader Meral Aksener used a hashtag in support of Kabas. ``This mindset will go and justice will again come to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
,'' she wrote.

The charge of insulting the president carries a maximum four-year prison term.

Since 2014, more than 35,500 cases have been filed over insulting Erdogan, resulting in nearly 13,000 convictions, according to figures from the Justice Ministry.

Turkey has come under international pressure to change the legislation. In October, the European Court of Human Rights said a man's freedom of expression was violated when he was detained in 2017 under the insult law.

Somalia's cabinet absolves ONLF as terrorist group
[Garowe] Somalia's cabinet on Sunday approved a resolution rescinding a decision that recognized Ogaden National Liberation Front [ONLF] as a terror organization, a move that had previously created a rift between the group and the government of Somalia.

During the administration of former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire, the government of Somalia subjected ONLF to scrutiny following differences between the group and the regional leadership of the Somali region in Æthiopia.

From 2017 onwards, the group has been treated we snuffies in Somalia but has been fighting to clear its name. And on Sunday, the Somali cabinet also declared rendition on ONLF commander Abdikarim Qalbi Dhagah on August 28 to Æthiopia "illegal".

During voting, 21 ministers voted in favor of ONLF while one voted against and another one abstained. ONLF has been fighting the administration of Somali region President Mustafa Omer, who is accused of mistreating the group.

In a tweet, ONLF welcomed the decision adding that the cabinet did "justice" to the group. The group also termed the resolution by Somalia's cabinet as a landmark adding that the Ogaden region will forever cherish it.

"The Cabinet of Somalia has rescinded the decision of the previous Cabinet in 2017 which decreed that ONLF was a terrorist organization and the rendition of Abdikarin Sh Muse -An EC member was legal. Now The Cabinet acknowledged the miscarriage of justice that occurred," read the statement.

"ONLF commends The PM of Somalia and his cabinet. This is a historic landmark decision that the Somali people in Ogaden will cherish for centuries to come. This is a lesson to those who transgress against the just rights of peoples."

Æthiopia closely works with outgoing President Mohammed Abdullahi Farmaajo of Somalia and the group has been critical of the leadership of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. ONLF has been battling to seize power in the Somali region popularly known as Ogaden.

23 terrorists killed, 89 arrested in al-Hasaka, ISIS using kids as human shields
See more here.

A source in the Global Coalition against ISIS revealed that 23 holy warriors of those who fled Ghuwaryan prison in al-Hasaka, Syria, had been killed, while 89 others were arrested, by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The source told Shafaq News agency that there are no casualties among the ranks of the Global Coalition forces, after they clashed with holy warriors who fled the Prison on January 20.

ISIS has attacked the prison housing its suspected members and a military base in Iraq in near-simultaneous deadly operations that have revived fears of the terror group’s resurgence.

The terrorist organization has yet to comment on the attacks and there is no indication that these were coordinated, but according to analysts they strongly suggest IS is trying to boost its ranks and arsenal in an attempt to reorganize across both countries.

The attack in Syria killed at least 23 Kurdish security forces and set "dozens of IS fighters" free, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

IS using hundreds of minors as human shields as Syrian prison standoff continues
[IsraelTimes] Several dozen Death Eaters remained holed up in one wing of the prison, to the north and in adjacent buildings.

More than 3,000 suspected IS bad boys, including over 600 minors, are held in Gweiran, the largest of a dozen detention facilities in Syria housing bad boys.

The Death Eaters were using hundreds of minors held in the same facility as human shields, preventing a final assault, a front man for the Kurdish forces, Farhad Shami, said.

The coalition said the IS Death Eaters seized arms from prison guards before murdering them and attempted to destroy a new, more secure facility under construction next to the Gweiran prison.

Siamand Ali, another front man for the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, said IS Death Eaters attempted two attacks Sunday on the prison, also known as al-Sinaa prison. One attack was from Death Eaters holed up nearby and another from outside the city of Hassakeh, where the prison is located. Both were foiled, Ali said.

Between 150 and 200 Death Eaters were believed holed up in the northern wing of the prison and adjacent residential area, including Zuhour neighborhood which was cordoned off by security forces, Ali added.

Late Sunday, the Kurdish-led administration announced a weeklong nightly curfew would start Monday, between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. Ali called it a precautionary measure to prevent IS Death Eaters from sending reinforcements to those holed up in and around the prison.

Egyptian court sentences Mufti of Al-Qaeda affiliate 'Al-Nusra Front' to life in prison
[AlAhram] A Cairo emergency state security court sentenced on Sunday Madin Ibrahim Hassenein, who is commonly known as "Nusra Front" Mufti, to life in prison for joining al-Qaeda-affiliated "Al-Nusra Front" and "Jund al-Aqsa" movements in Syria and receiving military trainings to carry out terrorist attacks.

The court also ordered names of Madin Ibrahim Hassenein and his affiliated group, al-Nursa Front, to be included in the country’s terrorism organizations list.

Egypt’s Prosecution accuse the defendant of joining a terrorist organization abroad that uses terrorism and military exercises as means to achieve its goals.

The prosecution also accused Hassenein of promoting terrorist crimes indirectly through two WhatsApp applications named "Ifta, Questions and Fatwas" where he spread Takfiri

Hassenein was arrested by Sudanese authorities in November 2018 by a request from Egyptian authorities. He was extradited to Cairo in September 2019.

Hassenein was already sentenced in absentia to 15 years in prison along with 16 others for inciting murder of police personnel and against the state in Sharqia governorate in 2013.

Abdirahman Ibrahim Maow who served as Hiran region governor went titzup after two button men fired at him just when leaving a nearby Mosque within Wadajir District in the Somali capital Mogadishu.

State media said local officials confirmed the tragic incident which comes just days after the al-Shabaab turbans killed over 10 people in three separate events within Mogadishu in a short period of time.

Abdirahman Ibrahim Maow, besides serving as Hiran region governor, also worked with the Islamic Courts Union from 2006-2007. Critically, in 2009 he joined Hizbul Islam, then led by Hassan Dahir Aweys.

The al-Shabaab turbans did not immediately reveal the reasons behind the shooting but did confirm that they were behind the incident. The al-Shabaab have been targeting senior government officials including those who have since quit the government.

Currently, al-Shabaab controls large swathes of rural central and southern Somalia, but a concerted military effort has significantly weakened the group. al-Shabaab turbans are keen to topple the fragile UN-backed Somalia administration.

BIll Gates to Reboot Nuclear Power
[Black Hills Pioneer] In this sleepy Wyoming town that has relied on coal for over a century, a company founded by the man who revolutionized personal computing is launching an ambitious project to counter climate change: A nationwide reboot of nuclear energy technology.
Maybe he can pull it off, but it's ...nuclear power
Until recently, Kemmerer was little-known for anything except J.C. Penney’s first store and some 55-million-year-old fish fossils in quarries down the road.

Then in November, a company started by Bill Gates, TerraPower, announced it had chosen Kemmerer for a nontraditional, sodium-cooled nuclear reactor that will bring on workers from a local coal-fired power plant scheduled to close soon.

The demonstration project comes as many U.S. states see nuclear emerging as an answer to fill the gap as a transition away from coal, oil and natural gas to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Which US states are 'thinking' about nuclear power? Starting a new meme, AP?
Many residents in Kemmerer, where the population of 2,700 is little-changed since the 1990s, see the TerraPower project as a much-needed economic boost because Rocky Mountain Power’s Naughton power plant killed by Obama/Biden will close 2025. The plant employs about 230 and a mine that supplies coal exclusively to the plant — and is also at risk of closing if it can’t find another customer — almost 300.

The U.S. nuclear industry has been at a standstill, providing a steady 20% of the nation’s power for decade amid the costly and time-consuming process of building huge conventional nuclear plants.

Only one new commercial nuclear project, the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Watts Bar No. 2, has come online in the U.S. in the past 25 years.

By cooling the planned Kemmerer reactor with liquid sodium, a metal that boils at a temperature much higher than water and solidifies at well above room temperature, TerraPower says its relatively small, 345-megawatt plant, able to power about 345,000 homes, will be safe and less expensive than conventional, water-cooled nuclear plants. The company’s Natrium plant will use a simpler and less expensive system of unpressurized coolant and vents not dependent on electricity to halt fission during an emergency.

The approach isn’t new. Russia has had a commercial sodium-cooled reactor in use at full capacity since 2016 and such designs have been tested in the U.S.
Yeah, they also had Chernobyl.

"We, who once carried guns, are now here to preach the message of peace to our people in the region. Peace is the only way we can have the developed environment that we dream of. Peace is the only way to attract the multinationals, investors and also be gainfully employed".

Yemeni forces defeat new offensive in Shabwah
by Brecht Jonkers

[HodhodYemenNews] The Yemeni Armed Forces have yet again defeated an attempted offensive by the Saudi-led coalition in the governorate of Shabwah.

“During the last 24 hours, our armed forces were able to counter a number of large-scale advances with heavy air cover toward our forces’ positions in A’ain district of Shabwah,” Armed Forces spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Sare’e said in a message on Saturday.

The statement continued by claiming that around 120 invaders were killed or injured, and twelve armoured vehicles were destroyed in the Yemeni victory, which also saw the use of four ballistic missiles launched by Yemeni forces against the enemies.

Orwell's novel 1984 is flagged as shock content in the UK
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[REGNUM] On January 22, The Mail on Sunday reported that staff at the University of Northampton had issued a warning that George Orwell's novel 1984 contained shock content.

According to Krasnaya Vesna news agency, the warning about shock content was issued on the basis that this book contains "explicit materials" that some students may find "offensive and upsetting."

In addition to the literature of George Orwell, scholars highlight several other works in the module that could potentially be "offensive and upsetting". This module also includes Samuel Beckett's play Endgame, Allan Moore's graphic novel V for Vendetta, and more.

#2  The book of Genesis 18-20 I believe it is, refers to the evils of the ancient cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. There are reportedly some 20 additional references throughout the book. The precise details can be debated, but most scholars believe something calamitous at least happened there.

Orwell's 1984 is becoming less and less debated.

China's Censors Ban Hollywood Films As Beijing Builds Its Own "Movie Empire"
[Zero Hedge via Rantingly] Boot lickers get the boot.
Despite the franchises popularity with Chinese consumers, China's censors blocked all four of Disney's Marvel movies released last year from being shown in the Chinese market. The films contained nothing that would obviously anger China's censors (no references to Taiwan as an independent country were included in any of the four films), but as Axios points out, they were banned because of what they didn't include: mass messaging that would subtly support the CCP's long-term political aims.

According to Axios, the CCP leadership and President Xi have set an ambitious goal of making China a "strong film power" by 2035. In the title of its post, Axios also described it as a "movie empire". And how could they accomplish this goal if domestic films don't dominate in their own backyard? Clearly, US films pose a serious threat to this.

So instead, China's censors were given "the nudge" to raise objections about the films' unacceptable "political" overtones - despite the fact that these movies all take place in a fantasy universe with little bearing on humanity's reality.

This CCP-ordered crackdown doesn't bode well for Hollywood, which has long treated China like a critical growth market. "It's a real turning away from the global entertainment industry," said Rebecca Davis, China bureau chief for Variety, who was quoted by Axios.

#4  You look at the stupid excess of Hollyweird (and pro sports, and famous for being famous and influencers) salaries and then you think about every time you hear about a teacher having to buy paper and pencils out of pocket, and you may wish for a command structured economy. But emperical results show that,s no better and often worse. At the end of the day, if the people paying LeBron's and Kim Kardashian's salaries (not actually salaries, I know) and buying their overpriced stuff just made better decisions individually, there would be a lot less of the "inequity" that the lefties hit us all over the heads with all the time.

NDLEA Operatives Intercept UK, Saudi Arabia-bound Smugglers Of Cocaine

The Spokesman of the agency, Femi Babafemi, on Sunday said in Abuja that the illicit drugs were packed inside locally made shoes through two major courier companies in Lagos and were foiled by narcotic officers attached to the firms.

He added that the operatives raided a relaxation centre, popularly called Garden in Abuja, where six persons were arrested for selling drug cookies and noodles.

Babafemi explained that following credible intelligence, operatives raided the Garden at Wuse Zone 5 behind Shoprite, where a lady Rachael Famiyesun, 29, who deals in drug cookies was arrested along with her salesgirl, Stella Sunday, 20.

"Besides the cookies, they were also caught selling bottles of a drink popularly called Zobo prepared with cannabis," he said.

He said that another business operator in the Garden, Moses Obi, 30, was also arrested with his salesgirl, Aisha Abdulrahman, 19, for selling noodles prepared with cannabis.

Equally a barman, Ahonye Jonah, 31, who works with the owner of The Garden, was arrested while one of their customers, 38-year-old Ngozi Justina Emelogu was also picked up during the raid on Wednesday, January 19.

Farmers in my area purchasing old equipment that still runs like Allis Chalmers still having many accessories. Working a job to keep the farm going now a necessity. Fuel costs sky high as well. So one major event, medical or operations will do them in now.

#3  My hay provider will be unable to fertilize his hay field this year. He told me every other farmer he talked to said the same thing. Fertilizer went from 450 bucks a ton last year to 1000 this year. We can thank Joe Biden, the Democrats, and other world governments for the decrease in natural gas output which is the major source for fertilizer. Food production is also greatly affected and will decline. It seems they want to reduce population by starving everyone.

#7  Food production is also greatly affected and will decline. It seems they want to reduce population by starving everyone.

Its weird that everything they have done is wrong, from a production point of view.

Dumping too much fertilizer burns the crop, if you will. The big boys are incredible efficient about fertilizer. They have local and satellite measurements of soil condition which is downloaded to the applicator and individual nozzles are controlled via computer and GPS in real time as the applicator is towed across the field.

Don't let the same people who tell you washing dishes by hand is more water efficient than using a machine, only this machine scans the dishes and adjusts how much water and detergent comes out of each nozzle, further increasing water, and detergent, efficiency.

VIDEO: Four-Year-Old Found Bludgeoned, Mother Killed Hours After Dialing 911
[Breitbart] A man faces charges after a woman was found dead in a bathtub and her daughter was bludgeoned and left on a bed recently in Kansas City, Missouri.

The two were found approximately 12 hours after the mother initially dialed 911, KCTV reported Tuesday.

The Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office said 29-year-old Jose E. Escalante-Corchado of Kansas City, Kansas, was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree assault, two counts of armed criminal action, and first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

The outlet continued:

According to records, KCPD officers went to the 7300 block of Wabash on the night of Jan. 15 to check on the welfare of a resident. When officers arrived, they found a young mother, 24-year-old Mackenzie Hopkins, dead in the bathtub and her 4-year-old daughter on the bed suffering from severe head trauma. Police determined the girl had been severely bludgeoned, and the girl’s mother had been killed elsewhere in the house and then placed in the bathtub, submerged in the water. There were large pools of blood and drag-marks in the house, according to police records.

The girl was transported to the hospital and listed in critical condition, the prosecutor’s office said.

Detectives learned Hopkins called 911 at approximately 6:00 a.m. that morning, almost 12 hours prior to police entering the home.

The 911 call-taker heard individuals fighting on the line, but police records did not indicate if officers responded to the initial call or how.

Britain
UK lawmaker claims she was fired over her Muslim faith
If true, there’s probably more to the story.
[AlAhram] A former minister in Britannia's Conservative government says she was told her Moslem faith was a reason she was fired, a claim that has deepened the rifts roiling Prime Minister Boris Johnson
...pro-Brexit British prime minister, succeeding no-Brexit Theresa May. BoJo is noted as much for his sparkling personality and his hair as for his Conservative policies....
's governing party.

Former transport minister Nusrat Ghani told the Sunday Times that when she was demoted in 2020, a government whip said her ``Moslemness'' was ``making colleagues uncomfortable.''

She said she was told ``there were concerns `that I wasn't loyal to the party as I didn't do enough to defend the party against Islamophobia
...the irrational fear that Moslems will act the way they usually do...
allegations.'

``It was very clear to me that the whips and No. 10 (Downing St.) were holding me to a higher threshold of loyalty than others because of my background and faith,'' Ghani said.

Chief Whip Mark Spencer said he was the person Ghani was talking about, but strongly denied
No, no! Certainly not!
her allegation.

``These accusations are completely false and I consider them to be defamatory,'' he wrote on Twitter. ``I have never used those words attributed to me.''

The Conservative Party whips' office said Ghani's claims ``are categorically untrue.''

``The Conservative Party does not tolerate any form of racism or discrimination,'' it said in a statement.

The prime minister's office said Johnson met with Ghani to discuss her concerns in 2020, and invited her to file a formal complaint, but that she didn't do so.

Several Conservative politicians, however, spoke up to support Ghani. Caroline Nokes, who heads Parliament's Women and Equalities Committee, said Ghani's treatment had been ``appalling'' and she was brave to speak out.

Education Secretary Nadhim Zahawi tweeted that Ghani's allegations must be ``investigated properly & racism routed out.'' His tweet ended with the hashtag ``standwithNus.''

When Ghani was made a minister in 2015, her boss, then Transport Secretary Chris Grayling, said it was proof the Conservatives ``were a party of opportunity.'' But some have accused the party of failing to stamp out anti-Moslem prejudice under Johnson, who in 2018 compared women who wear face-covering veils to ``letter boxes.''

Ghani's allegation comes after another Conservative politician, William Wragg, accused party whips of intimidating and blackmailing members of Parliament to ensure they supported the government. Wragg says he is meeting police this week to discuss his claims.

Internal rifts in the Conservative Party have been blown open by allegations that Johnson and his staff held lockdown-flouting parties while Britannia was under coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
restrictions.

A handful of Conservative politicians have called for Johnson to resign. Others are awaiting a report by Sue Gray, a senior civil servant appointed to investigate claims that government staff held late-night soirees, ``bring your own booze'' parties and ``wine time Fridays'' while Britannia was under coronavirus restrictions in 2020 and 2021.

Gray's findings are expected to be published next week. If Gray criticizes Johnson, more Conservative politicians may be emboldened to call for a no-confidence vote in Johnson that could result in his ouster.
