#7  Why he was probably taken off the watch list, per the Times of Israel:

The Times on Thursday said Akram had twice been referred to a British government program called Prevent, which aims to dissuade people seen as vulnerable to radicalization.

It cited sources as saying Akram was referred in 2016 and 2019 over “concerns about his anti-Western and conservative Islamic views.” But it was unclear whether he engaged with the voluntary scheme, the daily added.

Olde Tyme Religion
Pope Francis - 'Yer dog, cat, or other pet is NOT your child'
[Washington Examiner] Pope Francis gave a hard but necessary reminder to young adults earlier this month: Your dog, your cat, or any other type of pet you might have is not your child.

In a weekly address about the virtues of parenthood, the pope encouraged people to "take the risk of welcoming children," biological or adopted, and mourned the declining birth rates found in many parts of the world. The dwindling family, he said, is a choice and a "form of selfishness."

"We see that some people do not want to have a child," he said. "Many couples do not have children because they do not want to or they only have one and not more. But they have domestic animals — two dogs, two cats."

Deliberately choosing not to have children "can take some of our humanity away from us," Francis said.

To be sure, pets are beloved members of our families. But Pope Francis is right that the joys of having a pet are not even remotely comparable to those of raising children. The former is a perk; the latter, as the pope believes and the Bible teaches, is a commandment. One of the very first things God tells Adam and Eve in Genesis is to "be fruitful and multiply."

But even among those who don’t consider themselves religious, the long-lasting benefits of having a family are obvious. Parents are usually happier than nonparents, especially in their old age, according to research. Some studies even indicate that having children makes a person more successful. Both of these findings make sense: Children give parents something to live for and invest in, and they provide meaning and fulfillment in a way nothing else can.

Biden Critic (D) Busted by Feebs
[Epoch Times] FBI agents were seen at the home and campaign office of Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas), a frequent critic of President Joe Biden, on Wednesday.

Photographs shared by local reporters showed agents at the residence in Laredo removing bags, bins, and at least one computer.

Federal agents also went to Cuellar’s campaign office.

In a statement to news outlets, the FBI said the bureau "was present in Laredo conducting court-authorized law enforcement activity," adding that "The FBI cannot provide further comment on an ongoing investigation."

Cuellar, considered a moderate, has been a frequent critic of Biden’s lax immigration enforcement policies, which experts say have contributed to the explosion in illegal immigration recorded since Biden took office one year ago.

Beto Is Raising Significant Money ($7M+ so far)
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Democrat Beto O'Rourke said Tuesday that his campaign for Texas governor raised $7.2 million in the first six weeks of a race that could wind up as one of the nation's most expensive in 2022.

The announcement, made on the deadline in Texas for campaigns to submit their latest finance reports, is an early marker of whether O'Rourke can remain a fundraising powerhouse in his latest comeback after failed bids for the U.S. Senate and president.

German actor Hardy Kruger, star of adventure movies, passes away
BERLIN (AP) — Hardy Kruger, considered one of post-war Germany’s best actors, has died. He was 93.

His Hamburg-based literary agent, Peter Kaefferlein, said Thursday that Kruger died "suddenly and unexpectedly" Wednesday in California, where he lived with his third wife, American-born writer Anita Park.

Kruger starred in the 1957 British movie "The One That Got Away" about a captured German fighter pilot who stages a series of daring attempts to escape the Allies and, as the title suggests, finally succeeds.

His charm, good looks and the fact that he deserted from the Nazi army toward the end of World War II helped Kruger land further roles at a time when Germans of his generation were still eyed with suspicion abroad.

Kruger appeared in a string of English-language adventure and war movies, including "A Bridge too Far" (1977) and "The Wild Geese" (1978).

In later years, he focused on making travel films for German television, writing books and the occasional stage performance.

South African Scientists Confirm Boosters Offer Little Protection From Omicron
[ZERO] On Monday, a team of Israeli scientists publicized research showing that even a second booster dose of the Moderna or Pfizer mRNA vaccines doesn't bestow complete immunity from the omicron variant.

Now, just days later, their conclusion appears to have been corroborated by a team of South African researchers from the University of Cape Town and Stellenbosch University who observed seven individuals who had been infected with the omicron variant despite having been "boosted". The patients represented the first known cases of breakthrough infection by omicron, the researchers told the Lancet, the British medical journal where their findings were published.

Keep in mind, the South African team used a very different approach. First of all, the patients they examined had only received a single booster dose (unlike with the Israeli study, which focused on patients who had received two doses).

Knowing that the tests are unreliable, yet that a chunk of her class also stayed home and tested , we stayed home, wife and I waiting our turn. Kids had full run of the house, we ate together at the table, sat next to each other for some video game action. If wife and/or I got it, we had nothing to show for it. Wife tested negative same time that Sunday night.

Boko Haram Terrorists Kill Traditional Ruler, Teenager In Adamawa
[SaharaReporters] Gunmen believed to be Boko Haram
...not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
hard boyz have killed a traditional ruler and a teenager in Adamawa State.

SaharaReporters learnt that the two persons were reportedly killed during an abduction move in the Madagali Local Government Area of the state.

SaharaReporters learnt that Ijarsu Markus, who was kidnapped alongside his mother, and sibling last two weeks from Maiwandu village in the Madagali Local Government Area had been murdered by his captors.

They informed that the remains of the 16-year old were discovered three days after he was killed with stab wounds on his chest and heart.

This comes two weeks after the village head of Maiwandu, Ahmadu Sikari, was murdered in an attempt to kidnap him.

Madagali, which was annexed by the terror group, Boko Haram between 2014 and 2015, had continued to experience attacks from time to time.

Local vigilantes had rescued Markus' mother and his brother while the button men made away with the dear departed.

Confirming the two deaths to SaharaReporters, the district head of Duhu, Mustapha Sanusi, said the death of the village head and that of Markus had terrified the area. He pleaded with the government to deploy more troops to the area.

He said, "Some Boko Haram gunnies are now teaming up with other criminals to raise money for the insurgency through kidnapping for ransom."

The Spokesperson for the police in Adamawa State, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, confirmed the incidents, adding that "the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ahmed Barde has dispatched personnel to track down the perpetrators."

Bandits Sack Nine Villages In Kaduna, Abduct Many Residents
[SaharaReporters] Bandits have sacked no fewer than nine villages in Kaduna State, abducting scores of residents during the attack.

This comes as the Kaduna State government announced the killing of some bandidos and the rescue of kidnapped victims.

SaharaReporters learnt from residents of Birnin Gwari that besides sacking nine villages, bandidos kidnapped unspecified numbers of people along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari way.

A titleholder in Birnin Gwari, Zubairu Abdurra'uf Idris, informed that Kungin Dan-Bauchi, Kimbi, Katagagi, Damari and Shirya, were among the villages sacked within one week.

He said, "How these Death Eaters invaded Waro, Rema, Unguwar Shehu and Sabon Gida, as well as Dagara communities where three women and unspecified numbers of men were kidnapped, remains terrifying."

Security experts believe that despite declaring bandidos as terrorists, the Nigerian government was not doing enough to dislodge them.

Dr. Yahuza Ahmed Getso said, "The attack on Birnin Gwari yesterday confirms that Nigerian security operatives lack the equipment to confront the bandidos, especially along the Birnin Gwari highway."

It is widely believed that the aerial bombardment of terrorists' hideouts in bushes across the Northwest region must be done simultaneously to end banditry in Nigeria.

However,
if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning...
despite continued havoc on communities by bandidos in parts of Kaduna State, the state government through its Commissioner of Internal Security Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, has insisted that operatives were winning the war against terrorism.

Northwest Syria witnesses shelling between government and opposition
[NPASyria] On Wednesday, the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria witnessed military escalation and mutual shelling between the Syrian government forces and the Ottoman Turkish-backed armed opposition factions.

The government forces, from their positions in the Regiment 46, bombed the opposition factions’ sites in the towns of Kafr Amma, Kafr Ta’al and Kafr Noran, west of Aleppo, with heavy artillery and missiles, opposition military sources told North Press.

The opposition factions’ sites near the towns of Qoqfin and al-Bara in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, were also hit with the government forces’ shelling, the sources added.

Similarly, the opposition factions’ sites in the town of Sarmaniya, west of Hama, were bombed. No casualties were reported though.

Meanwhile,
...back at the chili cook-off, Chuck reached for the green sauce...
al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room bombed the military points of the government forces near the Regiment 46 in the western countryside of Aleppo, with heavy artillery and missiles, the sources noted.

During the past few days, the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria witnessed relative calm regarding the mutual shelling between the two sides of the conflict, after months of military escalation.

Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Ottoman Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.

Government forces members wounded in Syria’s Daraa
[NPASYRIA] On Wednesday, a number of government forces were maimed when an bomb planted by unknown persons detonated against their bus near the town of Sayda in the eastern countryside of Daraa, south Syria.

The targeted bus was carrying members of the law-enforcement forces working in Jaber-Nassib border crossing with Jordan, North Press reported a local source.

The bus was targeted by an IED planted by unknown persons on the side of a road near the bridge of Sayda town on the Damascus-Daraa highway, the source added.

More than ten members were maimed. Some were seriously maimed. They were transported by ambulance to Daraa National Hospital to receive treatment, the source noted.

Another source said that the number of the maimed members amounted to 13.

Residents accuse the government forces of targeting the bus, as there are many military patrols of the government around the clock near the area of the bombing.

...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to a currency swap deal equivalent to $4.74 billion to boost Turkey’s depleted foreign exchange reserves, the Ottoman Turkish central bank announces.

Under the agreement reached between their central banks, Turkey and the UAE agreed to swap 65 billion Ottoman Turkish lira and 18 billion UAE dirham for a period of three years, with the possibility of extending the deal further.

The agreement aims to help Turkey’s reserves following a series of interventions by the central bank, which sold foreign currency to prop up the lira amid a currency crisis.

It comes as Turkey and the UAE have taken steps to improve relations following years of tensions. Turkey and the UAE found themselves on opposing sides of regional conflicts, including a proxy conflict in Libya and disputes in the Gulf and the eastern Mediterranean.

US envoy to UN calls on Israel to refrain from evictions ‘like Sheikh Jarrah’
Once again the Biden administration sides with those who flout law and order. In this case, Arabs who have refused since 1968 to pay any rent on apartments that don’t belong to them.
[IsraelTimes] US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield references the eviction and demolition this morning in the flashpoint Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of East Jerusalem in comments to the UN Security Council.

“To make progress, both Israel and the Palestinian Authority must refrain from unilateral steps that exacerbate tensions and undercut efforts to advance a negotiated two-state solution,” Thomas-Greenfield says. “That includes annexations of territory, settlement activity, demolitions, and evictions – like what we saw in Sheikh Jarrah – incitement to violence, and providing compensation for individuals imprisoned for acts of terrorism.”

Her statement marks the first public comments from the US on the eviction, which was the first in that neighborhood since 2017.

In response, Israeli Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan tells the council that the family evicted is “a family that stole public lands for their own private use… This is a municipal issue that has gone through all the respective channels of the independent Israeli legal system.”

Thomas-Greenfield also references the synagogue hostage situation in Colleyville, Texas, over the weekend.

“The harrowing events in Colleyville, Texas, this past weekend… reminds us that we all must work together to stand against antisemitism and extremism,” she says. “The United States will continue to champion justice for victims of antisemitism, and for Holocaust survivors and their descendants.”

She also references the new makeup of the UN Security Council, after Tunisia and others finished their terms earlier this month, and the United Arab Emirates, among others, joined.

“For the first time in many years, all members of this Council have diplomatic relations with the State of Israel,” says Thomas-Greenfield. “This is a testament to the important shifts underway in the Middle East, and indicative of Israel’s contributions on the world stage. Let us avail ourselves of this opportunity to move beyond our standard talking points and identify ways to support the parties in pursuit of a sustainable and lasting peace for all of their people.”

6 arrested in rally against Sheikh Jarrah eviction outside Jerusalem mayor’s home

[IsraelTimes] Six people are arrested during a protest outside Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Leon’s home against an eviction and home demolition in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in East Jerusalem earlier today.

More than 100 left-wing protesters, including Meretz MK Mossi Raz, gathered outside Leon’s home to protest the eviction.

Activists say that similar protests are taking place around the country, including outside the home of Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz. Attendees, including Raz, complain of police pushing and shoving them during the protest.

"I came with dozens of protesters to protest outside the home of Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Leon in Rehavia about the terrible eviction of the Salihya family," Raz tweets. "The police are acting with violence, detaining non-violent mostly peaceful protesters and they shoved me."

A spokeswoman for Raz says he intends to appeal to Public Security Minister Omer Barlev about the alleged police violence.

Around 3 a.m. this morning, the Salihya family was evicted by police from the home that the state says was built illegally, following a protracted legal battle and several-day standoff.

Tim Perry out as chief of staff at ICE
[WASHINGTONTIMES] Timothy Perry is out as chief of staff at ICE amid questions over the deportation agency’s plummeting arrest numbers.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed his departure but did not give a reason for the sudden change.

One law enforcement source said Mr. Perry was ousted by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over concern about ICE’s enforcement numbers, which show a serious deterioration in the agency’s operations over the last year.

ICE spokeswoman Nicole Peckumn said Mr. Perry was no longer working at the agency, but she didn’t address the arrest numbers nor Mr. Mayorkas’ role in Mr. Perry’s departure.

"Tim Perry decided to depart the agency to pursue a new opportunity. We are grateful to Tim for his contributions over the past year and wish him well," she said in a statement.

It’s not clear what that opportunity was. A LinkedIn page that appears to belong to Mr. Perry now describes him as a "consultant."

An email to Mr. Perry’s account over the holiday weekend bounced back with news of his departure, but his name still appeared on the agency’s leadership web page Monday. It was changed by Tuesday afternoon.

Pentagon said to be eyeing ways to allow nonbinary troops to serve in the ranks
[WASHINGTONTIMES] The US does need more LGB riders.
The Department of Defense reportedly wants to allow people who identify as nonbinary to serve openly in the military and is hiring a Washington, D.C.-area think to study the issue. The Pentagon asked the Institute for Defense Analyses to "quietly" determine how it can open up military service to troops who identify as neither male nor female and often use "they" or "them" as their pronouns of choice, according to the online news outlet military.com, which cited three advocates familiar with the request.

Lt. Col. Bree Fram, a transgender Air Force officer, told military.com that speaking with nonbinary military personnel is a "great first step" and likened the study to an earlier analysis by researchers at the RAND Corporation in 2015 before the ban was lifted on transgender people serving in the armed forces.

"We are hopeful this will allow nonbinary individuals to serve authentically and realize their full potential in the military," Lt. Col. Fram said in a statement to the website.

The B.O. regime lifted the ban on transgender troops in 2016. The ban was reinstated three years later by President Trump but lifted again at the start of the Biden administration, the same old faces in slightly different places, the same old ideas, the same old graft
...the pack of self-imagined masterminds of strategy and intrigue at the service of the Biden Crime Family and a grateful nation...
. Advocates of the policy change say loosening the rules for entry into the military will be necessary as more potential recruits identify as nonbinary.

"To get the talent, obviously, you’ve got to kind of get with the times," Jennifer Dane, executive director of the Modern Military Association of America, an LGBTQ advocacy group, told military.com

In December, the Air Force began allowing personnel to include their preferred pronouns in their signature block on military emails.

Aaron Belkin, executive director of the Palm Center, which studies gender and sexuality in the military, predicted opponents will insist a policy change allowing nonbinary personnel to openly serve will be too complicated to enact.

Construction of Egypt’s first nuclear plant, El-Dabaa, to begin in July: Rosatom's CEO
And that’s not in the least bit terrifying.
[AlAhram] The construction of Egypt’s first nuclear plant, El-Dabaa, with Russia is set to begin in July, Alexey Likhachev, the CEO of the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation (ROSATOM), said on Tuesday.

In November 2015, the Egyptian government signed an agreement with Russia to build Egypt’s first nuclear power plant in the Dabaa region of Marsa Matrouh, which aims to generate a total of 4,800 megawatts through four units.

"They [the Egyptian authorities] are set to do everything to carry out the initial concreting in July," Likachev told Russian journalists, according to Russia’s news agency TASS.

His statements come a few weeks after ROSATOM submitted documents for units three and four of El-Dabaa Nuclear Plant to the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (ENRRA).

The documents were submitted ahead of schedule, according to ROSATOM, and are awaiting permissions so that both the Egyptian and Russian sides can begin full-scale construction.

According to the project’s design, the nuclear plant will have four VVER-1,200 reactor units. The first unit is scheduled to be operational in 2026.

In November 2021, Egypt signed a long-term one million-dollar agreement with the Czech ÚJV Rež Research and Development company to consult on the El-Dabaa Nuclear Plant, according to Chairman of the ENRRA Sami Shaaban.

According to the contract, ÚJV Rež will provide technical assistance to the Egyptian supervisory authority in licensing the nuclear plant in El-Dabaa.

The Atlantic’s Nervous Breakdown
by Christine Rosen
Not quite like the American Stinker.
[Commentary] The Atlantic is one of the most prestigious magazines in the nation—and almost certainly its most lavishly funded. When Laurene Powell Jobs (whose net worth is approximately $22 billion) bought former owner David Bradley’s stake in the magazine in 2017, she ushered in an era of almost unimaginable expansion for a publication created before the Civil War. Under its editor, Jeffrey Goldberg, the Atlantic has added 100 new staff jobs. The once-staid monthly is now a round-the-clock Web content provider that releases dozens of new items a day.

The Atlantic’s prominence and seriousness—and the bottomless pockets of its multibillionaire owner—have made it a dream come true for literally hundreds of liberal American journalists who spent most of the past 20 years in a panic about the financial viability of their chosen profession. So why is the Atlantic an emotional train wreck of a publication? If the New Yorker’s annual cover model, the monocle-bearing dandy Eustace Tilley, is supposedly its personification, the Atlantic’s should be Munch’s Scream. Therein lies a tale.

During the Reagan era The Atlantic published much of the best analysis of US-Soviet relations, including lengthy pieces by Kissinger and center-right experts (to their credit they're still occasionally publishing excellent analysis by Kissinger now that he's turned his attention to AI's dangers).

Now The Atlantic is hysterical, schizo and laughably predictable in its Woke hostility to Deplorables and normies. It makes The Nation look sensible.

’s overseas travel — and apparently withheld information about trips to China, Russia and other countries, two leading Republican senators claim. In a Tuesday letter to Secret Service Director James Murray, Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) alleged the agency "hid names and other information contained in email conversations regarding Hunter Biden without any proper legal justification."

The senators specifically noted that documents turned over at their request "do not show whether [Secret Service] personnel or Hunter Biden traveled to Kazakhstan in May or June 2014" during a trip to Gay Paree.

Biden — whose father, President Joe Biden
...... 46th president of the U.S. An incredibly corrupt version of Jar-Jar Binks, only well into his dotage. The dumbass who abandoned Afghanistan.......
, was vice president at the time — decided to ditch his Secret Service bodyguards before flying to Kazakhstan to pursue a deal on behalf of the Ukrainian energy company Burisma, the Washington Examiner reported last year.

Hunter Biden reportedly planned to meet with then-Kazakhstan Prime Minister Karim Massimov, who was arrested on treason charges Saturday following his ouster as head of the country’s counterintelligence and anti-terror agency.

NASA scientists estimate Tonga blast at 10 megatons
A BLAST or a 'burp'?
[NPR.ORG] NASA researchers have an estimate of the power of a massive volcanic eruption that took place on Saturday near the island nation of Tonga."We come up with a number that's around 10 megatons of TNT equivalent," James Garvin, the chief scientist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, told NPR.

That means the explosive force was more than 500 times as powerful as the nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima, Japan, at the end of World War II.

The blast was heard as far away as Alaska and was probably one of the loudest events to occur on Earth in over a century, according to Michael Poland, a geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey.

"This might be the loudest eruption since [the eruption of the Indonesian volcano] Krakatau in 1883," Poland says. That massive 19th-century eruption killed thousands and released so much ash that it cast much of the region into darkness.

In the case of this latest event, Garvin says that he believes the worst may be over — at least for now.

"If the past precedent for volcanic eruptions in this kind of setting has any meaning at all," he added, "then we won't have another one of these explosions for a while."

22 Killed, 100s of Houses Damaged in Earthquake in Badghis
Allah making his feelings known about the country’s new rulers.
[TOLO] At least 22 people were killed, four more were seriously injured, and hundreds of houses were destroyed or sustained damage in Badghis province as an earthquake rocked western parts of Afghanistan on Monday, local officials said.

The 5.6 magnitude earthquake shook the western province of Badghis on Monday. Qades district, which was reportedly the center of the earthquake, was impacted more than other parts of the province, according to local officials.

Local officials said search and rescue operation have started, adding that Badghis is a mountainous province and the number of casualties may increase.

Mullah Mohammad Saleh Pordel, district governor of Qades district, said: "In addition to those killed, several others were injured in this earthquake."

Women and children were among those killed, according to local officials.

The earthquake was at a depth of 30 km (18.64 miles), according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre.

U.N. Agency: Palestinians in Crisis-Hit Lebanon Need Funds
So does everyone else. Get in line, guys.
[An Nahar] A U.N. agency appealed Wednesday to the international community to donate tens of millions of dollars to help improve living conditions for Paleostinians in crisis-hit Lebanon Hezbollahstan
...a formerly French, now an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. ...
.The appeal by the agency for Paleostinian refugees, or UNRWA, is asking for an additional $87.5 million is to provide Paleostinian refugees with cash assistance to the poorest, cover hospital expenses, as well as transportation for children so that they can go to school.
Maybe they could use the bomber's allocation?
UNRWA says more than 210,000 Paleostinian refugees are among the most vulnerable and that some basic commodities have become out of reach for many as Lebanon sinks deeper into the economic meltdown. It added that more than 58% of Paleostinian refugees here have reduced the numbers of meals they eat every day.

About 400,000 Paleostinian refugees and their descendants mostly live in a dozen refugee camps in Lebanon, set up for those who fled or were pushed out during fighting surrounding Israel's creation in 1948. An additional 27,000 Paleostinians fled from Syria over the past decade during its deadly civil war.

The Paleostinians in Lebanon are prohibited from working in professional jobs, have few legal protections and cannot own property.

Paleostinian refugee Hiam Habib said UNRWA's assistance was dropping while everything becomes so much more expensive. She spoke from the Paleostinian refugee camp of Burj al-Barajneh in southern Beirut, a few miles away from UNRWA's offices.

"We urge UNRWA to find solutions for us otherwise I will end up with my family in the street," she said, sitting next to an electric heater, turned on to minimum power because it was working on a neighborhood's private generator.

Lebanon's crisis erupted in October 2019, rooted in decades of corruption and mismanagement by the ruling class. It has left tens of thousands of people jobless, and nearly 80% of the country's population of 6 million, including about 1.5 million Syrian and Paleostinian refugees, live in poverty. The Lebanese pound has lost more than 90% of its value, wiping out the purchasing power of middle class and low-income families.

"The situation is dire," said Claudio Cordone, director of UNRWA Affairs, Lebanon. He called on the agency's partners to work together to help so that Paleostinian refugees, "wherever they are, can live in dignity as they deserve."

Florida Democrats Struggle to Find Congressional Candidates
The heart burns...
[BREITBART] Democrats are struggling to find candidates willing to run for Congress in Florida, as the August primary is only months away, according to a report."Democrats have little clue whose names they’ll be marking on their ballots for two of South Florida’s most competitive congressional races," according to a report from the Miami Herald.

While the Florida Democrat Party declined to comment on their recruitment attempts to the Herald, the report noted that there had been little evidence that showed the Democrats have anyone lined up to run against Republicans in Florida’s Twenty-sixth and Twenty-seventh Congressional Districts after two first-time candidates dropped out.

However,
by candlelight every wench is handsome...
while the state is still going through a once-in-a-decade redistricting process, there reportedly has not been a Democrat to register a campaign committee in either one of the districts.

"At the end of the day, redistricting years present clear challenges for recruiting," Christian Ulvert, a Miami-based Democrat consultant, told the Herald. "But that shouldn’t be an excuse that, during an election-year cycle, we don’t have clear candidates."

Additionally, while some of the party’s leaders in the state have reportedly "pointed to redistricting as the cause" of not finding candidates, some Democrats believe the party leaders are hoping that former members of Congress will run for the seats.

"At this point now, and really since November, we’ve had [map] drafts from both chambers to give an idea...Any argument that it’s about waiting for the new lines, I think, rings a little hollow," said Matt Isbell, a redistricting expert working with the Democrat-aligned People Over Profits, to the Herald.

Afghanistan
Kabul Urges Islamic Countries to Recognize Afghan Govt
[TOLO] "Don't you recognize us? Sure, we used to commit civilian atrocities, plant IEDs, destroy crops and electrical pylons, but we're totally cool now! Give us money"
The prime minister made the remarks at a high-level meeting held on Wednesday at the ARG (Presidential Palace) in Kabul to assess the status of the Afghan economy.

The meeting was attended by members of the Islamic Emirate cabinet and UN representatives as well as representatives of 20 foreign countries.

PM Mullah Akhund also called on the international community to recognize the current Kabul administration and urged the US to release the Central Bank’s assets.

He called on the Islamic countries to not wait and let the US be the first to recognize Afghanistan, after which "you would also recognize it," said the prime minister.

He said the lack of recognition is creating severe challenges in a variety of ways.

"If the economic process is implemented, I believe Afghanistan would be pulled out of the current crisis," he said.

Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting minister of Foreign Affairs, said that Afghanistan already has an independent government.

"It is obvious to them that Afghanistan has a government which is responsible, committed and believes in acting in mutual interest," he said.

Talking at the meeting, the UN envoy in Afghanistan Deborah Lyons said the role of women and girls is vital for economic progress in the country.

"Indeed, economic progress, diversity, and inclusion, human rights and equality amongst all citizens are closely connected. As many countries have learned in these last many decades, economic growth stems from innovation and engagement of all citizens," she said. "This requires education for all, creativity, building technical capacity and using the diversity and talents of the many ethnic groups throughout an entire population."

"Women and girls in Afghanistan represent half of the population, and, as other countries around the world have learned, are critical for economic prosperity," Lyons added.

This comes as the current Afghan government has yet to be recognized by any foreign countries.

The Islamic Emirate has made the upholding of human rights, women's rights, and the formation of an inclusive government the preconditions for the recognition of the current Afghan government.

However, Kabul repeatedly said that it has completed all of these conditions.

Newly-arrived Rojava refugees in Duhok warm themselves with blankets
[Rudaw] Over a thousand people from northeast Syria (Rojava) migrated illegally to the Kurdistan Region earlier this month, fleeing insecurity, economic crisis and unemployment. However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
they spend their days and nights in a Duhok camp without stoves.

Baradarash camp in Duhok province hosts 1,222 refugees who arrived in the last week from Rojava. However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
they have not received stoves and oil to warm themselves up with. Instead, they use blankets to survive freezing weather.

They migrated to the Kurdistan Region for various reasons, notably the economic crisis at home.

Sadiqa Shukri is from Kobane. She and her three children use blankets to warm themselves up in their small tent.

"They keep crying [at night], saying that they are cold. They hug me to warm up and I bring them blankets," she told Rudaw on Tuesday.

The newly-arrived refugees include 456 people who came alone. Three to five of them live in a tent.

Water entered the tent of Issa Hawas and his friends.

"Our blankets and pillows became wet. The snow caused us to suffer a lot. We waited until morning to dry up our goods," he told Rudaw.

Camp administration says stoves and oil will be distributed soon.

"We have a plan for cold weather. Firstly, we will distribute 25,000 litres of oil through [Directorate of Migration and Crisis Response] DMCR to the refugees. We will also distribute stoves in the near future," Aram Hadi, manager of Bardarash Camp, said.

Boston Sewage Data Suggests Huge Omicron Spike Is Over
H/T Michael Yon.

Their data (Mass Water Resources Authority); my suggestion it's over.

Looking at the graph, you can see the original spring 2020 'the world is ending' surge, the bigger winter 2020 surge, the Labor Day 2021 bump, and the monstrous December, 2021 'hockey stick' spike. But the spike has come crashing down.

Fascinating that they first detected Omicron in Boston excreta on December 9-10, 2021. Long before, I think, it was 'discovered' in South Africa.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

According to an early December CNN article, Omicron started showing up in South Africa samples in early November, though it took a while to figure out what was going on and announce it to the world. But South Africa is claiming to be headed to the end, so it’s nice that we’re following the same curve.

#3  Sorry for the long re-post, but it's on-topic. From the indispensable substack of "boriquagato":

YES, OMICRON IS MILD.
Refuting the new histrionics from the WHO

el gato malo
Jan 8

unless you live in an ice cave, you’ve probably seen this.
it’s plastered and search optimized everywhere.

it’s also just plain wrong. it’s an addled attempt at histrionics pushed by pandemia’s uncontested “house of wrong.”

such credibility as it once had, the WHO has squandered and then some over these two long years of beclowning themselves with reversals, reversions, fabrications, and fantastical fright narratives, seemingly at random.

this is just more of the same and i’m not even going to try to speculate on motive anymore. it’s just too absurd.

instead, i'll post the notes from a conversation with the head of international infectious disease at mass general that have been going around. i can vouch for their authenticity.

Notes from a call with Edward Ryan MD, Director of International Infectious Disease at Massachusetts General Hospital:

1 Close to 100% of the positive cases in MA are Omicron. Delta is almost completely gone from New England.

2 This surge will peak sometime between 1/10 and 1/21 and then begin a quick downhill journey of two to four weeks.

3 We will end up with a 20-50% positivity rate.

4 February will be clean up mode, March will begin to return to "normal"

5 Omicron lives in your nose and upper respiratory area which is what makes it so contagious. It isn't able to bond with your lungs like the other variants.

6 The increased hospitalizations should be taken with a grain of salt as most of them are secondary admissions (i.e. people coming in for surgery, broken bones, etc. who are tested for COVID)

7 We won't need a booster for omicron because they wouldn't be able to develop one before it's completely gone and we're all going to get it which will give us the immunity we need to get through it.

8 COVID will join the 4 other coronaviruses we deal with that cause the common cold, upper respiratory infections, RSV, etc. It will become a pediatric disease mainly affecting young children with no immunity.

9 40% of those infected will be asymptomatic

10 Rapid tests are 50-80% sensitive to those with symptoms, only 30-60% sensitive to those without symptoms

11 Contact tracing is worthless because we're all going to get it and there's no way we could keep up with it.

12 We are fighting the last war with COVID and should be pivoting back to normal life, but society isn't quite ready for it yet.

13 There is no need to stay home from work or to be a hermit unless you're immunocompromised or 85 or older, but he does recommend staying away from large gatherings for the next six weeks.

14 Spring/Summer will be really nice

note the agreement this take finds with the description from dr angelique coetzee, the chair of the south african medical association

Patients with the Omicron variant of COVID-19 look very different than those infected with previous variants like Delta, says the chair of South Africa’s medical association.

“It’s totally different from the Delta,” Dr. Angelique Coetzee told Global News on Tuesday. She said that these patients aren’t displaying the same loss of taste and smell, need for supplemental oxygen or elevated pulse rate that doctors noted with Delta patients.

It’s very much like a cold or flu type of symptoms,” she said, adding that patients are reporting headaches and body aches, and a slight sore throat.

“They don’t have a severe cough and they don’t have a running or blocked nose as you would see with an upper respiratory tract infection,” she said.

this is where all the evidence based medicine is coming down. i have no idea what the WHO is on about or what data they cite here.

it appears to be a complete fabrication in an attempt to rebrand what is rapidly becoming known as “omnicold” as something dangerous.

in an age when even US supreme court justices are so ill informed that they think that 100,000 US children are in serious condition from covid right now, this is reprehensible.

Twitter: Phil Kerpen
@kerpen
This is just absolutely astonishing. "100,000 children in serious condition," per Sotomayor. Where do these people obtain their misinformation? The current national pediatric COVID census per HHS is 3,342. Many/most incidental.
January 7th 2022

it’s so bizarre to me that the very same people who demand limits on disinformation, censorship, and claim no one has absolute speech rights all slavering support the WHO as they literally stand up, time and time again, and yell “FIRE!” in a crowded theater where there is not an ember in evidence.

but the lie is too big and the fig leaves too tattered to hide this anymore. it’s all coming out now and more and more of the actual experts, so long cowed by pressure and intimidation are finding their nerve and rising to their feet to speak the truth.

...and that is how this will end.

#4  May I suggest a good old redneck remedy?
You can get a Netty pot for very cheap. Please make sure you use distilled or boiled or sterile water, put 1 of the packets of saline in it, but then also add 2 or 3 mL/1/3 teaspoon of Johnson's baby shampoo to the 8 ounces of saline nasal lavage. It will break up the biofilm that is hiding all of these critters in your sinuses, and may even dissolve some portion of the lipid membrane of the CCP virus. It may even knock out some of the other usual seasonal respiratory pathogens. Hate to use the colloquial term rinse and repeat, but do that twice a day and you will significantly decrease the number of pathogens you have to contend with or you might spread around. By the way, please take your vitamin D between 1000 and 5000 international units daily. Most likely vitamin D deficiency and high melanin content skin rather than "equity" is a cause for some ethnic disparities that have been identified.

San Diego-Based ‘Big Deck' Force Trains in Strategically Critical South China Sea
[Times of San Diego] The Navy reported that the San Diego-based Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group and Essex Amphibious Ready Group completed a large exercise Sunday in the strategically important South China Sea.

The exercise involved the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, amphibious assault ship USS Essex, guided-missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain, three guided-missile destroyers, dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor and various support vessels.

Stationed on the amphibious ships are members of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit from Camp Pendleton.

"Our ability to quickly and effectively integrate with an amphibious ready group, such as ESX ARG, demonstrates a diverse level of naval lethality that is unlike any other naval force," said Rear Adm. Dan Martin, commander of Carrier Strike Group 1.

"The long-range strike capability of the Vinson Strike Group combined with the Essex ARG’s potential to deliver a payload of Marines to any maritime region greatly contributes to the U.S. strategic ability to continue defending a free and open Indo-Pacific," he added.

The South China Sea is the focus of multiple Chinese territorial claims, and is regarded as the most dangerous potential area of conflict in Asia.

The Navy said the latest training included "integrated maritime strike missions, maritime interdiction operations, anti-submarine warfare, replenishment-at-sea and formation maneuvering/navigation operations."

The exercises involved F-35C Lighting II stealth jets and F/A-18E Super Hornets from the Carl Vinson as well as AV-8B Harrier jets, MV-22B Osprey tiltrotors and AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters from the Essex.

Capt. Karrey Sanders, commodore of Amphibious Squadron 1, said the training involving what he termed "big deck platforms" demonstrates "the U.S. Navy’s commitment to defending regional stability in the Indo-Pacific."

Sinaloa Cartel Commander Arrested in Mexican State Bordering Texas
[BREITBART] Mexican border state authorities arrested a regional commander for the Sinaloa Cartel in Nuevo Leon. The cartel figure is believed responsible for kidnappings and executions in the area after the cartel began a pie fight in late 2021.

This week, state authorities arrested Alan Ervey "El Cano" Juarez Castillo in the Monterrey metropolitan area. According to law enforcement sources in Nuevo Leon, El Cano is believed to be the leader of Sinaloa Cartel strike teams targeting incumbent drug distributors. After the arrest, El Cano’s button men clashed with authorities in several parts of the city, leading to seven more collars. Authorities killed two unidentified button men in the process.

El Cano has a long history of criminal activity in Nuevo Leon. In 2017, he spent time at the Topo Chico state prison and has an outstanding warrant on murder and kidnapping charges.

Sinaloa Cartel operators are using heavy weaponry and large teams of button men. While the Sinaloa Cartel kept a presence in Nuevo Leon for years, their operators usually avoided prominent tactics to curtail attention. Late last year, they began deploying strike teams. The cartel managed to keep a low profile for months by focusing on kidnapping and the stealth disposal of victims. This method differs from the street shootings favored by rivals like the Cartel Del Noreste faction of Los Zetas, the Gulf Cartel, and Los Billy’s.

Iran reveals key details of Yemen Houthi attack on UAE - analysis
[JPost] Iranian media claims ’economic facilities and investments in the UAE are the Achilles heel of the UAE’s war in Yemen.’

A recent drone and missile attack on Abu Dhabi has raised concerns across the Middle East about the increasing threat of Iranian drone technology. The Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen are alleged to be responsible for the attack, but key details remain missing from many accounts about how it was carried out.

A long article at Iran’s Tasnim News, which is close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, has laid out a blow-by-blow account of the attack; its background is likely the fullest explanation yet as to what was behind it and Iran’s next steps.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Russia Says It Will Take Nothing Less but NATO Expansion Ban
[An Nahar] Russia maintained a tough posture amid the tensions over its troop buildup near Ukraine, with a top diplomat warning Wednesday that Moscow will accept nothing less but "watertight" U.S. guarantees precluding NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Originally it was a mutual defense pact directed against an expansionist Soviet Union. In later years it evolved into a mechanism for picking the American pocket while criticizing the cut of the American pants...
's expansion to Ukraine.
Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, who led the Russian delegation at the security talks with the U.S. in Geneva last week, reaffirmed that Moscow has no intentions of invading Ukraine as the West fears, but said that receiving Western security guarantees is the categoric imperative for Moscow.

The talks in Geneva and a related NATO-Russia meeting in Brussels last week were held as Russia has amassed an estimated 100,000 troops near Ukraine in what the West fears might herald an invasion.

In a move that further beefs up forces near Ukraine, Russia has sent an unspecified number of troops from the country's far east to its ally Belarus, which shares a border with Ukraine, for major war games next month. Ukrainian officials have said that Moscow could use Belarusian territory to launch a potential multi-pronged invasion.

The Russian Defense Ministry said Wednesday that some of its troops already have arrived in Belarus for the Allied Resolve 2022 drills. It said the exercise will be held at five firing ranges and other areas in Belarus and also involve four Belarusian air bases.

Amid the soaring tensions, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Ukraine on Wednesday to reassure it of Western support in the face of what he called "relentless" Russian aggression.

Russia has denied that it intends to attack its neighbor but demanded guarantees from the West that NATO will not expand to Ukraine or other former Soviet nations or place its troops and weapons there. It also has urged NATO to roll back the deployments of its troops and weapons to Central and Eastern European nations that have joined the alliance after the end of the Cold War.

#6  The Russians are paranoid over an invasion. During the cold war, they were more terrified of a NATO invasion than NATO was of a Soviet one. Putting it in a American view, it would be as if a powerful South America invaded the US through Mexico several times, killed millions of our people and now that same group of countries has an alliance and is trying to get Mexico to join.

The only real value Ukraine has to the west is to keep the Russian bear farther away from Europe and to launder billions for our elite. I think it is more of the later reason why Biden is trying to provoke a fight.

#7  Little noticed is how our elites of both parties have been raking in millions from corruptocrats and oligarchs in nearly every one of the ex-Warsaw Pact nations.

They set up lobbies in DC, then darken the skies over Kyiv or Bucharest or Sofia or wherever, offering their services as "consultants" arranging a fast track to NATO membership in exchange for 7-figure payoffs.

Manafort did this. Clinton's little people (cf. "Blue Star Strategies") did this. Obama's people, Kerry's stepson and various aides, State Dept officials, etc etc: Rurutania-to-NATO is the best hidden DC grift of the last 30 years.

#11  #9 - The Warsaw pact self-destructed because those countries were captives of the Soviets. Russia is Russia. Are we "invading" Russia? I don't believe we should lose one American defending Ukraine, but letting Russia dictate terms to this buffoon is also not in our interests.

#12  There was a twitter thread over at Rantingly yesterday about how freaked out the Beltway Ukraine lobby and the neocons were over Tucker Carlson's comments about the issue. Next day, Joe comes out with his "just the tip" hint to Putin. They must be utterly out of their minds now.

#13  The only possible purpose to occupying the Ukraine is exposing Russia to invasion.

"Our" interests are staying out of another war. Our generals are incompetent and cannot win. They lost against primitives in Afghanistan. A war on the other side of the planet is not in "our" interests, unless you define "us" as anyone inside the DC Beltway and defense contractors. If so, then a war is definitely in "your" interests and against that of every other single person in America.

#14  Ukraine is not part of NATO, or the EU, or even the West. It's the historic heart of ancient Rus. Today it's a shithole: the society is permanently divided and the Ukrainian state is overrun with bandits and thugs at every level. It has no strategic value to anyone in the West.

We have nothing whatsoever to gain by meddling in Ukraine, and we could pay a heavy price if we do so. This is yet more evidence that those who rule us are morons determined to fvck up yet again.

Office of Kurdish official attacked in Kirkuk
[Rudaw] The office of a Kurdish politician, who was recently elected deputy speaker of Iraqi parliament, in Kirkuk city was attacked with grenades late Wednesday but did not cause any casualties, the official told Rudaw.

Kurdistan Democratic Party’s (KDP) Shakhawan Abdullah, who was elected as the second deputy speaker of the Iraqi legislature earlier this month, told Rudaw that his office in Kirkuk city was attacked with grenades but only caused material damage.

"Security forces went to the incident area and have launched an investigation," he added.

How does one "outperform what would happen"? WTF does that even mean?

This asshole is so mendacious he can't even utter a coherent sentence without twisting it beyond connection to reality.

Ditto for his supporters.

They lied about OrangeMan being a tool. Biden is a tool squared.

They said OrangeMan was corrupt. Biden and his family are indisputably corrupt, with massive documented evidence of money laundering, war profiteering and corrupt deals with foreign Oligarchs and front organizations for the CCP.

They concocted absurd lies about OrangeMan being Putin's puppet -- even though he was the most anti-Russian president in 35 years. Biden has accommodated Putin on every front and emboldened China, NKor and Iran.

They spread BS that OrangeMan was cognitively impaired. Biden's clearly suffering from dementia.

They said OrangeMan was divisive, chaotic and insulting --- even though he increased the Republicans' share of the Hispanic and black vote and delivered the supposed vaccine-to-save-us-all in record time.

Biden has brought the country to the brink of civil war, delivered on MLK the most disgusting and insulting speech ever made by a president, and cratered his party's share of every voting group except trannies and anarchists. Biden's COVID performance has demoralized everyone and is literally destroying our youth in front of our eyes.

Fvck these liars.

France moves closer to banning veils in sports competitions
[AlAhram] The French Senate has voted in favor of banning the wearing of headscarves in sports competitions, arguing that neutrality is a requirement on the field of play.

The French upper legislative house voted late Tuesday in favor of amending a proposed law stipulating that the wearing ``of conspicuous religious symbols is prohibited`` to take part in events and competitions organized by sports federations.

In their text, senators clearly said that the amendment aims at banning ``the wearing of the veil in sports competitions.`` They added that headscarves can put at risk the safety of athletes wearing it when they practice their discipline.

The amendment proposed by right-wing group Les Republicains and opposed by the French government was adopted with 160 votes in favor, and 143 against. A commission composed of members from the Senate and the lower house should now gather to find a compromise on the text before it is published, meaning the amendment can still be erased.

It is unclear whether the ban would be implemented for the 2024 Gay Paree Olympics. The Olympic organizing committee did not immediately answer a request for comment.

The vote came a year after politicians in the French parliament's lower house approved a bill to strengthen oversight of mosques, schools and sports clubs in a bid to safeguard La Belle France from radical Islamists and to promote respect for French values; one of President Emmanuel Macron's landmark projects.

With La Belle France bloodied by terror attacks, few disagree that radicalization is a danger. But critics also see the law as a political ploy to lure the right wing to Macron's centrist party ahead of this year's presidential election.

In the amendment, senators said all citizens are free to exercise their religion, but insisted that everyone should refrain from putting forward their differences.

``Today, there is legal uncertainty about the wearing of religious symbols, and it is necessary for the state to clearly define the rules,'' the amendment voted by senators read. ``If the wearing of the veil is not explicitly forbidden, we could see the emergence of community sports clubs promoting certain religious signs.``

The French soccer federation already bans women from wearing headscarves in official matches, as well as at competitions it organizes. A collective of headscarf-wearing soccer players called ``Les Hijabeuses,`` in relation to the word hijab referring to the headscarf, has been campaigning against that ban.

The group says all Moslem women should have the right to play their favorite sport at competitive level while wearing a headscarf if they want to. It has launched legal action at the Council of State, La Belle France's highest administrative jurisdiction, to overturn the federation ban.

CNN Op-Ed Claims 'Everyone' Excited by Prospect of Hillary's Comeback
[BREITBART]
Sure, the girl that gave me syphilis is back in town.
Everyone in politics is thrilled by the prospect of failed presidential candidate Crooked Hillary Clinton
...former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, Conqueror of Benghazi, Heroine of Tuzla, formerly described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as The Thing That Wouldn't Go Away. Politix is not one of her talents, but it's something she keeps trying to do...
’s political comeback, a CNN
...the organization formerly known as the Cable News Network. Now who knows what it might stand for...
op-ed author, Michael D’Antonio, claimed Tuesday. While Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
defeated Hillary by a sweeping 77 electoral college votes, CNN published an op-ed that alleged "everyone in the political world," including Democrats and Republicans, are "excited by the prospect" of Hillary returning to politics:

While the mere mention of the Clintons in the context of another presidential campaign offends some and inspires others, everyone in the political world has a reason to be excited by the prospect.

Among her supporters, there must be millions who have recovered from the heartbreak of 2016 and are ready to back her again. Among those who oppose her, the chance to resume battle against the woman they love to hate must surely send hearts racing.

D’Antonio projected that if Hillary were to run in 2024, her ambition would grant her the ascendancy of other politicians like "Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, the first president Bush — who lost either primary or general elections and came back to win the White House."

D’Antonio also stated Hillary would be the most qualified candidate in 2024, even more than President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. You're a lyin' dog-faced pony soldier. Of course Corn Pop is a real person....
, who remained on the sidelines in 2016 and let Hillary skate to the nomination.

"Given her experience as First Lady, a United States senator, and Secretary of State, Hillary is one of the most qualified potential presidents in the land," the article read.

The story accused right-wing media of framing Hillary as a "monster" instead of a "leader," a narrative that could be rectified if she decides to run in 2024.

But Hillary lost badly in 2016, forcing her to recover "at her home in Chappaqua and only recently began returning to public life," D’Antonio continued. "It is this resilience that energizes her critics and her supporters at the mere mention of a comeback."

The CSTO de facto recorded Tokayev's victory and prevented other players from fishing in troubled waters. As a result, Kazakhstan remained in the sphere of influence of the Russian Federation and China. The Kazakh Foreign Ministry said the decisive actions of the CSTO played a major role in ending the unrest.

Browns lineman Malik McDowell arrested naked after 'violent attack' on deputy

6.5/300, he can probably do what he wants.
[NYPOST] Browns defensive tackle Malik McDowell was arrested Monday in Florida on charges of beating a deputy and public exposure. Video has emerged of his arrest, in which he was completely naked.

TMZ published video of McDowell’s arrest, which shows him writhing on the ground while handcuffed in the presence of about a half-dozen officers.

At one point in the video, McDowell can be seen resisting his position, and an officer appears to kick him to keep him down.

According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, McDowell was arrested in Deerfield Beach, a town about 25 minutes north of Fort Lauderdale.

Police accused McDowell of a "violent mostly peaceful attack" on a deputy that left the officer "dazed." The deputy alleged McDowell "charged at me ... at full speed with closed fist."

Video obtained by The Post prior to the arrest shows McDowell walking naked down the street.

The narrator of the video says that McDowell fought with police, and then says: "He’s about to get tased right now. They tased him, bro."

McDowell was allegedly walking naked near a student learning center, and entered the property while naked. The deputy said he used his taser and handcuffed McDowell after being charged at.

"Apparently somebody may have slipped him something or given him something he was unaware of, which explains some of his bizarre behavior," McDowell’s defense attorney said.
Or he took it on purpose — it sounds like the street drug they call bath salts. Or it could be schizophrenia...
The Browns released a statement Tuesday regarding McDowell, who was under contract for just one season, saying they were looking into the arrest.

"We are aware of the very concerning incident and arrest involving Malik McDowell and are in the process of gathering more information," the statement read. "We understand the severity of this matter and our thoughts are for the well-being of all involved. We will have no further comment at this time."

There isn’t enough brain pressure in there to support an explosion. An implosion, however...
Jen Psaki
...a valley girl who woke up one morning and found she was spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of State under Obama. A new American success story, under Biden she became spokeswoman for the whole administration, and she was even able to get her sister a job...
said Tuesday that President Joe Biden
...... 46th president of the U.S. You're a lyin' dog-faced pony soldier. Of course Corn Pop is a real person.......
stands by the speech he delivered in Atlanta last week comparing opponents of Democrats’ voting bills to racists and segregationists, arguing that it "wasn’t a partisan speech."

Psaki claimed Biden delivered a "powerful speech" about Americans’ right to vote "for anyone they choose, whether it is him or someone else."

"It was not a partisan speech," she said. "It was intended to lay out for the public exactly what’s at stake and lay out for elected officials what’s at stake and he stands by everything he said in that speech."

During his speech advocating a suspension of filibuster rules to pass voting legislation Biden said: "So I ask every elected official in America, how do you want to be remembered? Do you want to be on the side of Dr. King or George Wallace? Do you want to be on the side of John Lewis or Bull Connor? Do you want to be on the side of Abraham Lincoln or Jefferson Davis?"

Biden was attempting to gin up support for the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. The former would federalize some facets of elections, including setting a 15-day minimum early-voting period and setting national standards for voter-ID laws to include a range of documentation. The latter would restore portions of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 that allowed the Justice Department to review election-rule changes in districts with a history of discrimination.

Look the guy is the Face on the Milk Carton for the Political Party of the KKK, Jim Crow and etc.... "Or maybe it’s simply because, at 79+ years-old,

eg. (independent.co.uk) "The real Joe Biden got into politics opposing busing, a vital de-segregation measure he dismissed in the 1970s as “the atom bomb of anti-discrimination weapons”. Throughout his subsequent career as a US Senator, he would go on to champion several pieces of legislation that disproportionately targeted black Americans and helped institutionalize mass incarceration including 1994’s infamous Crime Bill, then boasting on the Senate floor: “The liberal wing of the Democratic Party has 70 enhanced penalties… The liberal wing of the Democratic Party is for 100,000 cops...The liberal wing of the Democratic Party is for 125,000 new State prison cells.” As recently as 2007, Biden still called the bill his “greatest accomplishment.”

In his box of thumb tacks, his staff have removed the sharp ones for safety reasons.

Police arrest 29 for bringing people to EU on leisure boats
[AlAhram] Police in Italia, Albania and Greece on Wednesday arrested some 30 people accused of profiteering several hundred million euros to smuggle refugees and migrants colonists into the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
on yachts and other leisure vessels.
The coordinated action is believed to have dealt a serious blow to the lucrative Turkey-Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
sailboat crossings, for which people pay between $6,000 to $10,000 to reach southern Italia, with an eye on northern European destinations.

``We hope to have curbed the phenomenon, for the next few weeks or the next few months,'' said Lt. Col. Giuseppe Giulio Leo, head of Italia's financial police in the southern city of Lecce. ''Still, we need to take into account that there will be someone ready to join the organization and take over the various roles.``

The smugglers use mostly sailboats and yachts, but also fishing boats and less sea-worthy craft, packing between 30 to 180 people on board, he said. Their destination is typically the southern region of Puglia, the closest point, but they often wind up in Calabria due to weather, Leo said.

The arrested suspects are believed to be part of a wider ring with as many as 80 members that organized at least 30 smuggling operations that transported at least 1,100 people by boat from Turkey to the coast of Puglia, and then on to other European countries, EU law enforcement agency Europol said.

Eleven people were arrested in Italia, including smugglers who navigated the vessels, some of which had been stolen, as well as Iraqi and Syrian citizens who carried out the logistics, Leo said. Some had already been taken into custody during the investigation, which was launched more than a year ago.

Another 18 were arrested in Albania and one in Greece, Europol said.

The criminal masterminds of the operations are believed to be in Turkey, and the Lecce prosecutors has activated diplomatic channels in a bid to extend the operation, ``with the hope of apprehending the presumed criminals located there,`` Leo said.

Two of the arrested were brothers who are Iraqi citizens accused of running logistics to help the migrants colonists reach northern Europe. The men were arrested without incident near Venice before dawn. Italian financial police entered a modestly furnished house peacefully, and the brothers emerged wearing handcuffs and tracksuits.

The suspects, identified as Alaa Qasim Rahima, 38, and Omar Qasim Rahima, 30, are accused of running a ring that helped bring Syrians from Turkey to the EU using a network of associates in various countries.

Another ringleader, also Iraqi, is accused of helping the smugglers evade detection in Italia and return to Turkey via Greece.

Payments were made through informal money transfer systems such as hawala, which is used in some African, Asian and Mideast countries by both low-wage workers and criminal gangs alike to move funds without wire or other records.

Police in Greece were searching two agencies there that handled the payments, Leo said.

Authorities estimate the illegal profits from the people smuggling at several hundred million euros.

The price paid varied by departure point, with more than half leaving from Turkey, and the destination, and often payments were made only when the trip was successfully completed, Leo said.

Germany Tries Syrian Doctor for Crimes against Humanity
[An Nahar] German prosecutors accused a Syrian doctor Wednesday of torturing detainees and killing one of them while working in military hospitals in his war-torn homeland, on the first day of a landmark crimes against humanity trial in Frankfurt. The accused, 36-year-old Alaa Mousa
...in our archives as Alaa M....
arrived in Germany in 2015 where he continued to practice medicine until his arrest.

The trial at Frankfurt's higher regional court is the second of its kind in Germany, and adds to other European efforts to hold loyalists of Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Despoiler of Deraa...
's regime to account for alleged war-era atrocities.

Mousa faces 18 counts of torturing detainees at military hospitals in Homs and Damascus in 2011-12, including setting fire to a teenage boy's genitals.

He also faces one count of murder, for having allegedly administered a lethal injection to a prisoner who resisted being beaten.

The accused helped to perpetrate "a systematic attack on the civilian population," said federal prosecutor Anna Zabeck as she read out the charge sheet.

He "tortured detainees by inflicting substantial bodily harm on them," she told the court.

The defendant, who wore a blue suit and an FFP2 face mask in court, kept his head down while the charges were being read out.

Related: The Daily Mail has the usual, adding:
Mousa left Syria for Germany in mid-2015, arriving not as a refugee but on a visa for skilled workers.

He worked in several places as an orthopaedic doctor, including in the spa town of Bad Wildungen, before being arrested in June 2020 after Syrian witnesses came forward.

He worked at a clinic near Kassel in central Germany, where multiple Syrians recognized the doctor from his time in Syria and reported him to German police.

This text is provided by an unofficial source, the People's Militia of the DPR, not the Donetsk or Lugansk ministries of defense

[ARMIYADNR] The DPR army issued a warning about a possible provocation by Ukrainian terrorists on the territory of the republic in the very near future.

The military-political leadership of Ukraine does not leave attempts to destabilize the situation on the territory of the Republic.

Intelligence of the People's Militia of the DPR received reliable data on the preparation by the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the JFO zone of acts of sabotage on the territory of the People's Republics near the line of contact between the parties. The commander of the special operations forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Galagan, gave instructions to the 8th special forces regiment to prepare and carry out these terrorist attacks.

According to reports, life support facilities of the cities of Gorlovka, Yasinovataya, Donetsk, Dokuchaevsk and other settlements located in close proximity to the contact line will be hit. The primary goals are transformer substations, water and gas pipelines, power lines. In the future, it is planned to carry out a number of terrorist attacks on industrial facilities with hazardous chemical production.

These actions are planned to be carried out under the guise of military personnel of the People's Militia of the DPR and special operations forces of the armed forces of the Russian Federation. All actions of Ukrainian saboteurs will be recorded on video with subsequent presentation as evidence in international organizations.

In order to implement the above scenario, six sabotage groups have been formed in the 8th Special Purpose Regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They were trained by British specialists.

After the sabotage, the forces of information and psychological operations will distribute video materials of interrogations of servicemen of the People's Militia who allegedly went over to the side of Ukraine, which will confirm the participation of Russian special operations forces in terrorist acts in the territories of the Republics.

The main goals of these provocations are to accuse the Russian Federation of creating pretexts for unleashing aggression against Ukraine, destabilizing the situation on the line of contact and creating panic among residents of border settlements.

This will be used by the Ukrainian political leadership to subsequently accuse Russia of aggressive actions against Ukraine.

We call on the public and international monitoring organizations to pay close attention to the impending criminal actions of the Ukrainian side.

In the current situation, the People's Militia of the DPR is taking a set of measures to strengthen the security and defense of dangerous and socially important facilities.

The command of the People's Militia appeals to the citizens of the republic with a request to be vigilant. Report all suspicious persons and their actions to emergency services, military commandant's offices or local law enforcement agencies by calling 0713001981, 0713040470, 0623886363, 0623886364.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin
Of course, since Russia was already accused of preparing any acts of sabotage and terrorist attacks ("the separatists fired on themselves," as was the case, for example, with the bombing of the Lugansk Regional State Administration), such provocations are de facto an attempt to form a solution for a ready-made answer, which was voiced by Washington.

Accordingly, no matter what Russia does, it will be accused of "the separas blowing themselves up again to blame Ukraine," and if Russia reacts by force, they will say that "you see, we said that Russia would attack and it attacked."

In general, a fairly win-win scheme. Hence, such a game of preemption, since the Ukrainian special services regularly flow through intelligence and technical channels, which was perfectly shown by the story of Wagner Gate.

PS. The Communist Party of the Russian Federation today submitted to the State Duma an appeal to Putin on the need for Russia to recognize the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. It is proposed to recognize the DPR and LPR as independent, independent and sovereign states. It is proposed to consider the appeal in the Duma in February.

Carhartt forges ahead with vaccine mandate despite Supreme Court ruling
[WashingtonTimes]The Carhartt apparel company is the latest to find itself in the middle of the COVID-19 wars after an internal memo informed employees the company would forge ahead with its vaccine mandate despite a Supreme Court ruling striking down President Biden’s testing requirement on unvaccinated workers.

In a letter that circulated online, CEO Mark Valade said workplace safety is key and the ruling "doesn’t impact that core value." It also said an unvaccinated workforce represents a risk the company is "unwilling to take."

The letter kicked up dust in the Twitterverse, with #BoycottCarhartt trending for days, while some said they’d double down on orders in support of the company.

The Supreme Court earlier this month said the Occupational Safety and Health Administration overstepped its authority by requiring companies with 100 workers or more to ensure their workers were vaccinated or test the unvaccinated ones weekly.

After the ruling, the White House encouraged companies to mandate the shots on their own.

Carhartt, which is best known for its work clothes but also is considered fashionable by some, imposed its mandate earlier this month but deadlines have been extended in two locations, according to Forbes.Carhartt told the publication that its mandate applies to 3,000 workers and that the "vast majority" of workers are in compliance, though some received religious or medical exemptions.

"Carhartt fully understands and respects the varying opinions on this topic, and we are aware some of our associates do not support this policy. However, we stand behind our decision because we believe vaccines are necessary to protect our workforce," the company told Forbes.

#3  Their quality has been going down over the last few years. I have 20-year old Carhartt items that will probably last longer than the products being turned out now.

There are other US made work-wear clothing lines to consider. A lot of our field guys like the 1620 clothing. Really pricey but incredibly rugged.

#4  I take these things seriously. I never really dug Carhartt stuff because a) I don't do the kind of work that calls for those kinds of clothes and b) When I lived in PeeAye it was a fashion statement to some akin to what bikers call "sidewalk commando" dress (all hat and no cattle to you Texans.) I won't buy Levis because of their anti 2A stance. Wranglers are fine for me. I quit buying PepsiCo products when their stupid diversity hire CEO said America gives the rest of the world the finger. Coke lost me with their CRT indoctrination crap. I gave up on pay TV and movie theaters in all forms when it became clear that money was going into the pockets of people who want me disenfranchised and stuck in a camp or killed outright.
I don't need Carhartt stuff and sure don't and won't sport their logo. Yeah, the list of "don't buy" vendors gets bigger every day. So what. It's my dollar, I can take however long as I like to decide how and where to spend it.

#8  Its that tired trend of solid niche, to popular, to costume.

Wrangler too. Keen as well; first pair of workboots lasted two years with on insole and one lace replacement, naturally. Last purchased six months in and laces frayed out and sole eroded to the point I was not standing but balancing. Same thing happened to Raichle, rather than owning the hiking boot arena, they moved their ops to China and advertised their brand, and lost the durability needed to be a real hiking boot.

#9  ^ Well, I buy Wrangler jeans. Hey, they wear out. I have a pair of Wolverine steel toes that are downright ancient but still suitable for heavy use. I definitely have less trouble with my all steel Colts and Smith & Wessons than with some newer guns that have MIM parts on board. And don't get me started on how I'd be out a perfectly good Jeep if not for PYP / You-pull-it having a used ABS modulator that Mopar / Stellantis can't be bothered to make anymore. It's all adaptation. I'm a brand loyal kind of guy, but if the brand lets me down, I move on, one way or another.

India-Pakistan
The drone threat from Pakistan that India faces is immense
[OneIndia] Has anyone actually listened to a Hindu chant?
Drones continue to be the biggest security threat with Pakistain procuring a large number of them from the Chinese.

The Intelligence Agencies have time and again warned that Pakistain would look to hit India with drones. One such attack was reported in Jammu last year. The agencies say that Pakistain could look to replicate a UAE kind of strike in which drones were used.

In January the Intelligence Bureau had said that the Lashkar-e-Tayiba held a meeting of its top commanders in Pakistain during which their drone strategy against India was discussed.

The Fallacy Of Reparations
NN2N1 parked the essay at JustPaste.it so as not to use up Fred’s electrons. Those interested in following his logic will find it at the link. Here’s the taste he shared:
[JustPasteIt] FOREWORD
More than likely you have heard the phrase; "Forty acres and a mule" acquitted to Reparations. This is what the crazy idea of Reparation is based on.

So where did all this Race Pandering, Baiting and Pimping that is used every national election year to stir up certain voters, but never happens, start?

Where did this semi-annual process to emotionally stir up certain voters emotions to blindly forget they are supporting the same Political Party that just 50 years ago was still openly supporting; Jim Crow Laws, Open Discrimination, separate lunch counters and bathrooms. The use of fire hoses, attack dogs and yes even lynchings. Well it was initially started by Civil War Union Army General William Tecumseh Sherman on or about January 16, 1865. It's purpose then was little more than a carrot on a stick offer, just like today.

TSA: Illegals can use arrest warrant as ID. No, really...
But my TX carry card ID gets me a closed room visit with the TSA?
[Daily Caller] The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) disclosed to a congressional office that illegal migrants flying without proper identification can use an arrest warrant as an alternate form of identification when presenting to airport security, according to a letter the Daily Caller News Foundation exclusively obtained.

Responding to Republican Texas Rep. Lance Gooden’s Dec. 15 inquiry about illegal migrants flying across the country, TSA Administrator David Pekoske explained that certain Department of Homeland Security (DHS) documents may be considered acceptable forms of alternate identification for non-citizens, including a "Warrant for Arrest of Alien" and a "Warrant of Removal/Deportation."

"TSA’s response confirms the Biden Administration is knowingly putting our national security at risk," Gooden told the DCNF. "Unknown and unvetted immigrants shouldn’t even be in the country, much less flying without proper identification."

"TSA is committed to ensuring that all travelers, regardless of immigration status, are pre-screened before they arrive to the airport, have their pre-screening status and identification verified at security checkpoints, and receive appropriate screening based on risk before entering the sterile area of the airport," Pekoske wrote.

England Ends All COVID Restrictions
[Epoch Times] Restrictions including COVID-19 passes, mask mandates, and work-from-home guidance will be removed in England, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Wednesday.

Effective immediately, the UK government is no longer asking people to work from home. The COVID pass mandate for nightclubs and large events won’t be renewed when it expires on Jan. 26.

And from Thursday, indoor mask-wearing will no longer be compulsory anywhere in England. The requirement for secondary school pupils to wear masks during class and in communal areas will also be removed from the Department for Education’s national guidance.

Roaring cheers from lawmakers could be heard in the House of Commons following Johnson’s announcements on masks.

"As COVID becomes endemic, we will need to replace legal requirements with advice and guidance, urging people with the virus to be careful and considerate of others," the prime minister said.

Asked to remove testing rules for vaccinated UK-bound travellers, Johnson said the government is reviewing the testing arrangements on travel and that an announcement can be expected in the coming days.
On the other hand...
But he refused to reconsider the vaccination mandate for frontline health care workers, insisting "the evidence is clear that health care professionals should get vaccinated."

Number 10 received a petition on Monday signed by more than 200,000 people, calling for an end to vaccine passports and similar COVID certifications.

A separate petition calling on the reversal of vaccine mandates for health care workers, which was also delivered to Number 10 on Monday, received about 160,000 signatures.

Governments in Scotland and Wales have also announced the removal of Omicron curbs, but mandatory indoor mask-wearing and COVID passes will remain in place.

The Media Is Already Having a Meltdown as Texas Proves Its New Voting Laws Work
[REDSTATE] The voting laws implemented in Texas were always going to be a huge problem for Democrats.
One bullet, one vote.
Vote early, vote often.

Oh dear. It’s going to be so interesting for them to be constrained by real live, legal voters.
So much so that Texas Democrats staged a walk-out and fled the state to Washington, D.C., where they did nothing but embarrass themselves and spread the COVID-19 virus.

In fact, the entire stunt was really just a promotion for the "For the People Act," a Democrat drawn-up plan that would seize power from states to run their own elections, and put it in the hands of the federal government. This would, more or less, keep Democrats in complete and total power for the next few hundred years, or until the populace removed them by force.

But now, the voting laws put in place by Texas are already having the effect intended: keeping the elections secure.

According to Rooters, hundreds of mail-in ballot applications have been rejected, including in Travis County (where Austin is), which has rejected around 300 applications due to people failing to meet the ID requirements. Harris County (Houston) has rejected 409. Bexar County (San Antonio) is also sitting at around 300 rejections.

Those who are rejected have well over a month to fix the problems on their application. For those attempting to vote honestly, it’s a simple fix. For those who aren’t, they’ve hit a dead-end.

And it seems that Rooters isn’t happy about it, and gives plenty of platform to those who want to paint this as "voter suppression." In fact, it just cuts right to it in the second paragraph:

"My friends, this is what voter suppression looks like," Democrat Dana DeBeauvoir, the Travis County clerk, told news hounds on Tuesday.

Rooters continues by making this a reaction by Texas to Donald Trump
...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party...
’s loss, claiming the "raft of voting restrictions" only happened because Donald Trump said it did:

Lawmakers in Texas approved a raft of voting restrictions last year, one of many efforts in Republican-controlled states to pass new limits after former President Donald Trump falsely claimed he lost the 2020 election because of widespread fraud.

It then told the story of the fleeing Texas Democrats, adding that they were doing so over the claim of discriminating against Black voters since they support Democrats more often than not.

This is an outright lie by the Democrats. In 2018, Black turnout surged after voter ID laws were enacted. As you can probably guess, Rooters didn’t mention that at all.

This is a perfect example of subtle mainstream media narrative manipulation. It frames the Texas voting laws as malicious from the very beginning, and doesn’t exactly say much in its defense, but does load up Democrat narratives about it being racist and unfair.

Outlawed Group Resurfaces, Raising Fears of Clashes in Myanmar
[BenarNews] Residents of western Myanmar’s Rakhine state say they are concerned over possible armed festivities in Maungdaw township along the country’s border with Bangladesh amid a recent uptick in activity in the area by the outlawed Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army.

ARSA, which has joined Myanmar’s shadow National Unity Government (NUG) and other armed ethnic groups in fighting the junta following its Feb. 1, 2021, coup, has been moving aggressively to establish control over sprawling refugee camps in Bangladesh, where about 740,000 Rohingya fled after a crackdown by Myanmar’s military in 2017. The crackdown came in response to ARSA’s attack on Rakhine police posts.

A rival group, the Buddhist Arakan Army (AA), agreed to a ceasefire with Myanmar’s military in late 2020, and ARSA appears to be taking advantage of the relative calm, residents of Maungdaw told Radio Free Asia (RFA).

Democrats Warn That Republicans Plan To Steal Election By Blocking Democrat Efforts To Steal Election
[Babylon Bee] WASHINGTON, D.C.—Democrats have issued a dire warning to the American people that Republicans will steal the election in 2022 by blocking all Democrat efforts to steal the election.

"Republicans want to destroy our democracy by stealing the election, just like Hitler," said Nancy Pelosi in a speech supporting the Voting Rights Act. "If Republicans are not stopped, they will block all our noble efforts to steal the election for ourselves, because Republicans are racist and want to bring back Jim Crow. We cannot allow that!"

The crowd of enthusiastic school kids in the audience who had been bussed in for the speech cheered in agreement.

Democrat strategists agree that their best hope in the midterms is to cheat as much as possible. They warn that if their cheating is stopped by Republicans, Republican candidates may win, which is the same thing as literal fascism.

"When Democrats cheat, that's just Democracy as Martin Luther King intended," said Pelosi. "When Republicans stop Democrats from cheating, that's an unfair attack on Democracy itself. We will not rest until the will of felons, illegal immigrants, and dead people are heard and every vote is counted!"

Republicans started to say something in objection but stopped short after being told that was cheating.

#1  Biden has replaced Federal DAs in states with his own DAs. He is now going to circumvent election results for the opposition via his Fed DAs "investigations".

The US Federal Government is completely corrupted and has no legitimacy at all.
