Nation Prepares To Celebrate 2nd Anniversary Of Two Weeks To Flatten The Curve
[Babylon Bee] U.S.—The nation is preparing to celebrate what has become a beloved annual holiday: Two Weeks To Slow The Spread Day, to be held in March every year.

"This time of year we like to come together to remember the historic day two years ago when we put on masks and locked ourselves down, trusting that the lockdown would be over in just two weeks," said local man Paul Christof as he stared out his window longingly, his three masks securely in place. "This year, I'm going all out with a Zoom party with no more than five of my closest friends—I mean, closest, figuratively speaking, of course. We'll be literally far apart, because I want to stay home and stay safe, and I don't want grandma to die."

Traditional festivities for the newly christened American holiday include remote Amazon gift exchanges, ordering DoorDash feasts for just yourself, and the customary binging of the Netflix. Historians believe the holiday will become a hit, and people will continue to wear masks and stay home throughout the year as the festive day is celebrated for hundreds of years to come.

Epstein's Alleged Model-Agent Pimp Jean-Luc Brunel Found Hanged in Cell
[Daily Beast] Jean-Luc Brunel, the French modeling agent accused of procuring underage women for Jeffrey Epstein, was found hanged in his Paris jail cell—in a shocking replay of how Epstein himself died.

The 76-year-old was found during a night-time check by guards at La Santé early Saturday, officials told Le Monde.

His attorneys told the paper that the apparent suicide "was not driven by guilt, but by a deep sense of injustice."

Brad Edwards, who represents Epstein and Brunel accuser Virginia Robert Giuffre, said he believes the Frenchman took his life because he knew his fate was sealed.

"He and Epstein made it only as long as there was hope of getting out," Edwards told The Daily Beast.

Fighter ace leads tech effort to battle emerging China threat
[FoxNews] Startup led by military veterans creating new ways for fighter pilots to train.

A veteran group of fighter aces and tech innovators developed a technology they believe will help win the artificial intelligence race against China.

"We must do something about the investment China is making in cyber and AI, as well, because in certain spheres, I believe they are much ahead of us," said Daniel Robinson, CEO and founder of Red 6.

Robinson and his team developed what they call a "revolutionary approach" to augmented reality – a technology that enables fighter pilots to go up in real airplanes and train against virtual enemies.

"The whole reason I started this company is pilots must fly," Robinson, a former F-22 pilot, told Fox News. "We can't do this in simulators."

"The beautiful thing with this technology is it's reset, reset, reset," Robinson continued.

He said a traditional flight hour may give a pilot three looks at a problem set. But using this technology, "you may get 8, 9, 10 looks at the problem set using this," Robinson told Fox News.

The U.S. Air Force gave Red 6 a $70 million contract last year. The company expects to see its tech in a fighter jet within 18 months.

#1  ...I kinda hate to be That Guy(TM) but:

*A fighter Ace has five kills of enemy aircraft. He doesn't. There have been a handful of Aces since the Korean War, and only three have been American: Steve Ritchie, Randy Cunningham, and Jeff Feinstein. None of them have been UK or Commonwealth, and the reason I mention that is because...

*Mr. Robinson is wearing a name patch that appears to show RAF or some other Commonwealth air force wings. Fair enough, but the aircraft next to those wings appears to be an F-22. Now, it is not out of the realm of possibility that the RAF, RCAF, or RAAF has had one or two pilots checked out on the F-22. He is referred to as a former F-22 pilot, but with those wings, I think he has at the very least some clarifying to do.

#2  The future is UCAFs that can maneuver in ways no human pilot could survive. The weight savings of not having a cockpit for a human can be translated into an aircraft with a better power to weight ratio or a better ordnance load-out. Either way, only the fighter mafia loses.

#5  https://www.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/130297/british-pilot-finishes-raptor-training-at-tyndall/

TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. (AFPN) -- The first British pilot to complete F-22 Raptor training graduated July 17 at Tyndall Air Force Base.

Flight Lt. Dan Robinson, from the Royal Air Force, is assigned to Langley AFB, Va. He has completed two months of training with the 43rd Fighter Squadron as part of an exchange program. In return, a U.S. fighter pilot will be trained and fly the new EF-2000 Eurofighter Typhoon side-by-side with the RAF.

For the coalition, the benefit of the exchange program is the implementation of the aircraft capabilities into the multi-national planning process. Both the Raptor's and Typhoon's potential and capabilities will be better understood by both U.S. and United Kingdom aviators in battle, providing better results and minimizing collateral damage and loss of coalition life.

Lieutenant Robinson is a combat veteran who has served in the RAF since 1996.

"I have been fascinated with aircraft since I was a child; I was that kid who always wanted to talk to the pilot. My father was a businessman, and we traveled a lot on planes while I was growing up," he said.

He comes from a family of warriors. Both of his grandfathers served in the military during World War II.

Lieutenant Robinson was flying F-3 Tornados with the RAF 25th Fighter Squadron in England prior to the exchange program. The 29-year-old pilot arrived in the United States in March.

It will save lots of money

Tennessee bills would expand where some gun owners could carry by designating them as law enforcement
[FoxNews] Two controversial bills introduced this month in Tennessee would expand where enhanced handgun carry permit holders could carry by technically designating them as "law enforcement" in certain situations, according to reports.

It would allow permit holders to carry their weapons where only off-duty law enforcement officers can, such as restaurants or stores that don't normally allow them, WTVF-TV in Nashville reported. It wouldn't include courthouses or schools.

"This is trying to open it up so that people who go to the extreme to get this extra permit can have the right to defend themselves in more places," Republican state Sen. Joey Hensley told ABC News on Thursday. He introduced the state version of the bill.

Hensley said the bills would not make permit holders police officers and wouldn't allow them to arrest people.

The legislation is facing pushback, not only from gun control advocates, but also the state’s largest police union, which said it is "adamantly opposed to this bill in its current form," according to ABC.

10-year-old makes chemo comfort bags for patients after seeing grandfather fight cancer
Hey, Gretta!
[FoxNews] Sophie Enderton is donating care packages to chemotherapy patients in Buffalo, New York

A thoughtful 10-year-old girl is dedicating her time to crafting "chemo comfort bags" for hospital patients after seeing her grandfather battle pancreatic cancer.

Sophie Enderton of Niagara County told Fox News Digital that she decided she wanted to brighten the days of chemotherapy patients shortly after her grandfather – Terry – explained what the treatment is and why it’s challenging for people.

Sophie learned of Terry’s diagnosis in October 2021 and set out to make comfort bags for chemo patients over the holiday season.

With help from her family, Sophie put together crocheted bags and fill each with items that are meant to enhance comfort, including blankets, small pillows, games, word searches, cozy socks and mitts.

"My husband and I are so proud that Sophie wanted to give back," Sophie’s mother, Jillian Enderton, told Fox News Digital, in a phone interview. "She saw others struggling, and she wanted to be a change and help them."

In December, Sophie and her family donated 10 comfort bags to chemo patients at the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, which is the same hospital grandpa Terry received treatment in Buffalo, New York.
My father and Mr. Wife both worked there, overlapping by several years. Founded in 1898 by Dr. Roswell Park as the nation’s first dedicated cancer research lab, it’s the biggest cancer research/hospital complex that nobody’s ever heard of.
The Endertons are currently putting together comfort bags with a new goal of delivering 20 bags to pediatric and adult cancer patients by the end of March – in honor of Terry’s birthday.

"Sophie and her grandpa were super close, and I think this helps her to stay close to him now that he's passed away," Jillian said, noting that he died on Dec. 15, 2021.

Community members have donated money and items to Sophie’s comfort bag project and this time the fifth-grader hopes to add cards and other personalized touches to the care packages.

Russia Planning Post-Invasion Arrest and Assassination Campaign in Ukraine, U.S. Officials Say
[FP] U.S. officials have reportedly obtained intelligence that Russia is potentially planning to undertake an arrest and assassination campaign in Ukraine if it goes forth with an invasion, targeting well-known opposition members, anti-corruption activists, and Belarusian and Russian dissidents living in exile in Ukraine. Foreign Policy reports that according to four people familiar with U.S. intelligence, Russia has already begun making formalized lists of prominent Ukrainian figures to be targeted for arrest or assassination, including anyone who could pose a challenge to Russia’s agenda. An official who spoke to Foreign Policy on the condition of anonymity, referenced past Russian targeted operations including “targeted killings, kidnappings/forced disappearances, detentions, and the use of torture” against journalists, anti-corruption activists, and vulnerable populations such as religious and ethnic minorities and LGBTQI+ people. The Biden administration warned Thursday that that an invasion could take place within the next few days, as security risks remain “very high.”

Omicron Hits 73% - Herd Immunity? Unexpedtedly!
[Dallas News/AP] The omicron wave that assaulted the United States this winter also bolstered its defenses, leaving enough protection against the coronavirus that future spikes will likely require much less — if any — dramatic disruption to society.
That used to be the definition of "natural immunity, before it was cancelled.
About half of eligible Americans have received booster shots, there have been nearly 80 million confirmed infections overall and many more infections have never been reported. One influential model uses those factors and others to estimate that 73% of Americans are, for now, immune to omicron, the dominant variant, and that could rise to 80% by mid-March.
Which seems really slow gain for a super-contagious variant. Perhaps the virus has burned itself out? However --
The coronavirus — the current variant or future ones that are sure to pop up — remains a dangerous germ. It is still infecting more than 130,000 Americans and killing more than 2,000 every day. Tens of millions of people remain vulnerable.
Germ? I thought it was a virus. The new 'germ variant'?
"I am optimistic even if we have a surge in summer, cases will go up, but hospitalizations and deaths will not," said Mokdad, who works on the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation model, which calculated the 73% figure for The Associated Press.
And it seems the AP liked the implications of that 'estimate'. Somebody tell the Canadians.
With varying degrees of relief and caution, many Americans are starting to return to their pre-pandemic lifestyles.
Ironic, isn't it. The vaccine didn't stop Omicron, nature did. How long will folks get fired for refusing the vaccine?

#1  The medical insider "Boriquagato's" substack has a field day with this latest Peak Stupidity delusion ("An epidemic of self-delusion" -- the comments and discussion btw are excellent, esp the discussion of ADE vs OAS):

this stage of the pandemic is really one of the more mystifying parts. if you listen closely, you can hear the popping of burning wires:

i got vaccinated.
i got covid.
i got really sick.
thank goodness i got vaccinated!
you should get vaccinated too!

... it’s like the last vestiges of observational capability have finally been beaten out of a meaningful portion of the population.

truly, we have entered the post rational world of the unfalsifiable claim: “it would have been worse if i had not!”

it’s such a wonderful meme. so pervasive. so persuasive. and so totally, utterly impervious to contradiction. it’s the perfect brainworm to justify what you did.

you can show them all the societal data you like about higher rates of hospitalization this year than last in groups that were 95%+ vaccinated.

it does not matter. no aggregate data can refute any individual belief about one specific datapoint among many.

“i’m sure it helped.” < this belief lets anyone feel good about vaccination and boosting even as they fall ill.

it literally turns the contraction of covid by vaccinated people into the belief that covid vaccines worked for them.

this may be the most successful piece of product positioning in human history. Cognitive bias becomes cognitive dissonance becomes an iron bar certainty that your virtuous behavior saved you.

#3  And now that the 'vaccinated' are the ones falling sick, being hospitalized and dying, certain public health agencies are simply shutting this data off from public view. Boriquagato, again:

we’ve reached the point where agencies will no longer publish objective data because it does not support their conclusions.

“we cannot provide data because people might analyze it!” is not much of a mantra, is it?

NEW - Public Health Scotland will stop publishing data on Covid deaths and hospitalizations by vaccination status because there are "significant concerns about the data being misused deliberately by anti-vaccination campaigners."

Funeral directors and embalmers around the country and in the U.K. are beginning to report an extraordinary increase in the incidence of bizarre blood clots in the bodies of the vaxxed. Description, links, and photos here.

When Fascism Comes To America, It Will Look Like Justin Trudeau's Canada
[LI] If Justin Trudeau had merely removed trucks from blocking a bridge in protest of vaccine mandates, it would be no big deal. Protesters for various causes routinely get removed from blocking traffic.

But that’s not all Justin Trudeau did. He suspended civil liberties in Canada, targeting peaceful protesters and anyone who supports them. Not because those supporters committed a crime, but because they supported the political opposition to Trudeau’s government.

Trudeau ordered all financial institutions to freeze the assets of his political opposition without court order and with full immunity from liability, and no financial asset was spared.

Senegal's Pres. Macky Sall: 'If there's no security in Africa, the world won't be secure'
[DW] Senegal's President Macky Sall was voted in as the new chairperson of the African Union on February 5, 2022. He assumes the AU chair at a time when democracy in parts of the continent appears under threat. In February, Guinea-Bissau became the latest African nation to reportedly see a coup attempt. This followed closely on the heels of a successful coup in Burkina Faso in January. The year before, military juntas seized power in Guinea and Mali while in Chad, the army appointed the son of long-term ruler Idriss Deby as president in what has been called a 'dynastic coup.'

At the same time, the civil war in Ethiopia's Tigray region has been dragging on for more than a year while armed conflict and terrorist attacks are escalating in the Sahel, the vast semi-arid region that stretches from Senegal in the west to Sudan in the east.

Sall talked to DW ahead of the 2022 AU-EU Summit which started on Thursday in Brussels.

The State of Our Union Is Sorry
[Townhall] My son Cameron and I can hardly wait for President Biden’s upcoming State of the Union address.

"What do you think he’s going to say on March 1, Dad?" he asked me earlier this week during our phone call.

"That the State of the Union is .... very sad? Screwed? You finish the sentence."

"Seriously," Cameron said. "The State of the Union is supposed to be upbeat — positive — or at least hopeful, right?"

"Yeah," I said. "His speechwriters must be working overtime. The list of big things he’s messed up in a single year is long and getting longer."

"So what’s he going to brag about to the country?" Cameron asked.

"Well," I said, "he did a terrible job with Afghanistan, so he can’t bring that up."

"The economy is also a no-no.

"Inflation is running at 7 percent, interest rates are headed up and millions of workers have still not gone back to work, thanks to the government’s generous and never-ending pandemic help."

"He sure can’t mention crime," Cameron said.

"It’s spiking in every big city and his Justice Department is more interested in eliminating cash bail than catching criminals and putting them in jail."

"And forget the war on COVID," I said.

"It’s been a disaster.

Fidel Castro Eulogized - Trudeau 2016
SNIPPET:
[Babalú Blog] "It is with deep sorrow that I learned today of the death of Cuba’s longest serving President. Fidel Castro was a larger than life leader who served his people for almost half a century. A legendary revolutionary and orator, Mr. Castro made significant improvements to the education and healthcare of his island nation," said Justin Trudeau in 2016. "I know my father was very proud to call him a friend and I had the opportunity to meet Fidel when my father passed away. It was also a real honour to meet his three sons and his brother President Raúl Castro during my recent visit to Cuba. On behalf of all Canadians, Sophie and I offer our deepest condolences to the family, friends and many, many supporters of Mr. Castro. We join the people of Cuba today in mourning the loss of this remarkable leader."

[Breitbart] What we are witnessing right now is not something that’s changed in the last 24 hours. If you go back to notes that I’ve been sending out for the last two weeks, this is something we’ve been watching in terms of you—have commercial satellite imagery, you have the buildup of forces, the type of forces, the numbers of forces, things that we’ve been told in advance to look for in terms of some of the disinformation that is already starting to appear, the false flag operations in the Donbas region. All of that is ticking up."

She added, "I’ve heard comparisons to the Iraq war and WMD, and how do we know? We’re seeing it with our own eyes. If you can’t look at the kind of the Iskander missile battalions that are now in Belarus and 30,000 Russian troops there. Half of Putin’s air force has now been deployed toward Ukraine. I am told just moments ago from a senior defense official that 40% of his 190,000 troops who are on the border with Ukraine are now in attack positions. That is something we have been waiting for."

Griffin concluded, "Right now, every American should be watching this and knowing that this is deadly serious.

China Goes All in on Coal: Ramps Power Output to Full Capacity
[Breitbart] China has doubled down on refusing to stick to its climate pledges by announcing Monday it will be expanding operations of coal-fired power plants across the country.

In a Chinese State Council meeting chaired by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, China reaffirmed its position to increase its use of coal powered energy to “safeguard power usage in both production and daily life”, the official Chinese state press agency Xinhua reports.

China is the world’s largest polluter emitting an estimated 27 per cent of the world’s greenhouse gases in 2019, with the next largest emitter America only releasing 11 per cent of the world’s pollution – less than 50 per cent of China’s total emissions.

Despite initially signing up to the U.N.’s Paris Climate Agreement in 2016 which aims to keep global temperature rises under 2 °C and reaffirming this commitment to reduce its emissions at eco-conference COP 26 in a joint declaration with the United States in 2021, over the course of the pandemic, China has increased coal output – hitting a ten-year-high of using over four billion metric tons of coal in 2021.

I.e., the high end of a normal fly season.

Which is EXACTLY as the great biostatisticians and epidemiologists predicted, based on the Diamond Princess cruise ship data from March 2020.

A somewhat nastier version of seasonal flu. To combat which, our moronic rulers have turned out democracy inside out, trashed our economy, and destroyed an entire generation of young people.

That is, these deranged shitheads have ruined our children's prospects for a decent normal life; crushed their social and emotional development; and sent them into a tailspin of depression and dysfunction from which many will never emerge.

Where is justice?

The Military Intelligence Directorate confirmed that the terrorist is "Abu Zaid al-Mahlawi," who held the position of the so-called "commander of the Heet district divisions," and he is responsible for killing Brigadier General Ahmed Abdul Wahid al-Lami.

Today, the Security Media Cell reported that ISIS's "Wali" (ruler) of al-Anbar was killed in an airstrike in Rutba district.

The Cell said in a statement that Iraqi aircraft targeted a vehicle carrying the Wali of al-Anbar, Muthanna Khodor Kamel Shatran, nicknamed "Abu Maluka," in addition to one of his assistants.

#19  I teach 4-H kids to shoot rifles, and my wife and I have AR-15s for our own use, so I've got some relevant experience. There may be a role for this, depending. The biggest problem I have is finding rifles that are small enough and light enough for youngsters, but still accurate (I teach target shooting). Right now I use a mix of '60s to '80s vintage Anschutz imports and heavily modified Ruger 10/22s.

This may be worth a look, with the following caveats:
- Unknown manufacturer with no track record for quality or company longevity, and probably no distribution or support network
- The actual barrel is only 7.5" long, with an extension tube to avoid NFA limits. Which does not speak well for accuracy.
- The trigger is 'mil-spec' which also doesn't speak well for accuracy in youth hands. Since it's all scaled down, you're not going to get drop-in trigger upgrades or parts
- No specs for minimum length-of-pull or 'length of reach' from pistol grip to trigger face. These are crucial dimensions for young shooters.

Regardless, if one shows up at a LGS, I'll arrange for one of my kids to try it out.

I'll enjoy the leftist heads exploding regardless. Is there more clear evidence that it's a religion, than yet another .22LR plinker being a sign of the end of world?

There are also a number of indications of a big gun control push planned for the SOTU. SHOT was what a month ago, this is dated 18th, and goes out of its way to mention Sandy Hook, which ties in nicely with the Remington case. Advertising to Children is how cigarettes got hammered, how additional taxes on soda because obesity happened.

Starter Rifle

Point-Defense Weapon

Ton of reasons.

Exactly. Except the marketing costs were passed onto the Firearm Community Reputation. When I was of age, I remember my father and I visiting a car lot, obviously shopping for me. The salesman made it a point to approach my father and establish that relationship before addressing me. This ad goes straight to the kid, bypassing that courtesy.

22LR semi is a go to platform out here, especially for that stinky striped critter walking around the house at high noon like it has been on a 3-day bender; what we call our Skunk Gun, for appropriate size critter of that size. Might be a good snake gun for those on horseback, loaded with shot. It is appropriate for both the beginner, youth, and elderly. Mags are easier and faster to change out than barrel fed. Places for furniture, like a flashlight. I'm curious the price.

#47  The subject here is the appropriateness of an advertisement as proportional to the seriousness of the product. There is a line which narrows as this seriousness increases.

I, too, thought it a Bee type headline. Then I read into it and would have not given 3 seconds in real life to the ad. But nothing draws the eye of the critic like a competitor. In this case, a culture competitor. Stepping on that line, which I think the JR-15 ad did, and crossing that line, I don't think they did. DM, whose customers are nominally not Firearm Culture but Karens and Professional Opinionators, saw that step on the line and is more than happy to place an opinion piece under their name.

To be fair, I am not the target of such an advertisement. It is a pander to those who can afford to purchase a new firearm for a youth not yet physically able to haul a full size version. It targets the Dad who, having his shirt tugged and kid say, "I want one so I can be like you!", sticks his hands in his kakis, and beams with pride.

And nothing provokes the ire of a competitor than pandering, is it auto unlocks all the built biases and a field of pre-built straw men without much effort. It doesn't require the work and thought of a convincing op-ed, it is meant to rally those already on board, especially the passive followers.

The original State Farm Jake commercial had a touch of seriousness in it, even if a bit tongue in cheek, because it showed you can make a claim 24 hours a day. The new ones suck because they pander to a group of people who are nobody but think they will be treated in the same class of professional athletes.

Small business, and especially small manufacturers, are the innovators and niche market providers - an AR style dedicated .22LR at half the weight and a fraction of the size begin there. A 22 TCM pistol carbine will come from there. If a person wants a chainsaw bayonet to mock the media, they make them. Customization, flare, moral patches, that's them. We need more of it.

There is, contrary to belief, such a thing as bad advertising. Imagine if you will a beer company advertising their 0% ABV drink to teenagers so they too can hang out with the adults. Then something happens, intoxication related injuries or worse, the lawyers only need to point at the ads and blame them.

Is it right? No. But guess what, Booze Inc. gets hammered because their brand advocates such behavior.

Being a serious product, firearms should only be advertised to such responsible people. Find me the advertisement which has a twelve year old on a riding lawnmower.

The Professional Tattoo people would have self-policed such an ad; in fact it makes me wonder if a fellow booth renter or quality control was like, "Dude?!" and JR-15 was like, "Wutever Bruh. Selling stuff here."

And if that is the case, as ambassador to the biggest stage in the USA, knowing the industry is constantly infiltrated by Gotchya Agents up to and including members of the US Congress, they fucked up and should expect nothing less than a doxx. I can respect the fuck it let them come, but then there it is too, but that is right there in the same grocery aisle of Meal Team 6 doing open rifle carry into The Norms' Safe Spaces, coffee shops and shopping boxes, and I don't see how that positively changes ideas towards, "Yeah, teach the young how to respect and operated tools and perform in sports which are inherently dangerous so that the activity is respected and thus less dangerous." circle.

Mounted Police Knock Protesters Down, as Over 100 Are Arrested in Ottawa

[EpochTimes] Police put the number of arrests at over 100, and the number of vehicles towed at 21 on the afternoon of Feb. 18 as law enforcement escalated its confrontation with protesters in Ottawa.

Mounted police and officers on foot advanced on crowds to push them away from the designated secured area, in some instances knocking down protesters.

The police slowly pushed back the crowd for most of the day, but in the afternoon increased pressure by deploying pepper spray and using police on horseback to gain more ground while advancing against the protesters.

Some coppers carried assault rifles and what appeared to be rubber bullet launchers.

Earlier in the day, protest organizer Benjamin Dichter took to Twitter to urge protesters to leave and pleaded with the OPS to let the truckers "leave in peace."

"One of Freedom Convoy Canada drivers had his truck windows smashed by Ottawa Police, guns drawn & dragged out of his vehicle by force. It’s time to leave. Ottawa Police please allow the remaining trucks to leave in peace."

Dichter confirmed to The Epoch Times that the decision to leave was made by convoy leadership.

"We had a meeting with all the road captains and they came to the conclusion that it is the safest option," he said.

Meanwhile,
...back at the laboratory the smoke and fumes had dispersed, to reveal an ominous sight...
protesters could be seen making snow barricades on Wellington and Metcalfe streets to slow the police advance toward the core of the protest in front of Parliament Hill.

The Canadian Civil Liberties Association (CCLA) called out the OPS for telling media earlier in the day to stay away and warning that "anyone found within areas undergoing enforcement may be subject to arrest."

"Warning journalists about safety risks in the protest zone is reasonable. Threatening them with arrest for doing their jobs is not," wrote the CCLA on Twitter.

ORGANIZERS ARRESTED
Two Freedom Convoy organizers, Chris Barber and Tamara Lich, were arrested on Feb. 17. Former RCMP officer Daniel Bulford, who coordinated security at the protest, was also arrested on Feb. 18.

Barber is charged with "counselling to commit the offence of mischief," "counselling to commit the offence of disobey court order (s. 127," and "counselling to commit the offence of obstruct police." Lich is charged with "counselling to commit the offence of mischief." Both were scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 18.

Dichter said on Twitter on the afternoon of Feb. 18 that in the case of Barber, the presiding judge ruled that he can be released on condition he goes home.

"This is why de-escalation is important & to communicate it to law enforcement. I do not want my friends stuck in jail or other drivers to get injured," Dicther said. "To everyone who has shared #love & support for #CanadasTruckers, thank you, we love you all. I & many others have left Ottawa."

The House of Commons sitting on Feb. 18 was cancelled due to the expanded police operations, the Speaker of the House said.

"Given these exceptional circumstances, and following discussion with all recognized party leadership, the sitting today is cancelled," said a post on the official Twitter account of Anthony Rota.

On Feb. 14, the federal government invoked the Emergencies Act to confront the ongoing protests. The House of Commons is currently debating the measures under the Act. While the Tories are opposed to the move, so far NDP have spoken in support of the use of the Act, giving Liberals enough support for its passage once it goes to vote.

"To deal with the current threats, our government is invoking the Emergencies Act. The scope of the Act is time-limited and targeted, reasonable, and proportionate—and it gives law enforcement agencies more tools to restore public order and protect people," Trudeau said on Twitter about his government’s decision to invoke the act.

Ottawa police have set up fences and barriers in downtown Ottawa to establish a secured area, banning travel and assembly of people within the zone. The secured area is from Bronson Avenue to the Canal, and the Queensway to Parliament Hill.

Only local residents or people who work in the area will be allowed to go into the secured area.

"We want you to be aware that entering the Secured Area for the purpose of contravening the Emergencies Act, may result in you being arrested and/or charged," Ottawa police said in a statement.

Interim Ottawa police chief Steve Bell said on Feb. 17 that the secured area includes close to 100 checkpoints, to ensure those who want to enter the area for an "unlawful reason, such as joining a protest, cannot enter the downtown core."

The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF), which has provided legal representation to Freedom Convoy organizers, said in a statement that it has issued a "cease and desist demand letter" to Bell.

"The Charter ensures that Canadians are free to peacefully assemble, to express their ideas, to gather to discuss them and communicate them widely to other people, including vigorous political dissent. These activities are basic forms of individual liberty. They are essential to the basic functioning of a democratic society like Canada. In Canada, people are free to discuss matters of public policy, to protest and to criticize governments," JCCF said in a statement.

"The Interim Police Chief’s improper attempts to scare Canadians from exercising their Charter rights is disturbing," added Keith Wilson, JCCF lawyer and external lead counsel for the Freedom Convoy 2022.

Civil liberties and constitutional rights groups have launched legal challenges against the government’s use of the Emergencies Act in the face of the protests.

"The government’s emergency declaration is unprecedented and seriously infringes the charter rights of Canadians," Canadian Civil Liberties Association executive director Noa Mendelsohn Aviv said at a presser on Feb. 17, after announcing that her organization is intending to take the government to court over its use of the act.

The Canadian Constitution Foundation (CCF) also said it’s taking legal action against the government over its use of the act on Feb. 17.

"Prime Minister Trudeau has set a dangerous precedent by invoking the never before used federal Emergencies Act to address the current situation. The high threshold for declaring a public order emergency in the Emergencies Act has not been met," said CCF litigation director Christine Van Geyn in a statement on Feb. 17.

With the new powers granted under the Emergencies Act, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland said on Feb. 17 that information is now being shared by law enforcement with Canada’s financial institutions to cut off funding for the ongoing protests.

"The names of both individuals and entities, as well as crypto-wallets have been shared by the RCMP with financial institutions, and accounts have been frozen, and more accounts will be frozen. Crowdfunding platforms and payment service providers have started the registration process with FINTRAC," Freeland said at a presser.
The Daily Wire adds:
According to the protesters, tow trucks are stationed nearby and are believed to be waiting to clear the area of trucks.

"The tow trucks are not labeled, they’ve had their plates removed and their companies covered so they are hiding their identities from the world," one of protesters on the livestream said.

National Review fellow Nate Hochman, who is in Ottawa to cover the Freedom Convoy protest, tweeted Friday that "thousands of police" have surrounded the protest area near Parliament and are beginning to move in on the protesters.

"Thousands of police have surrounded the Ottawa convoy over the course of the past 90 mins. More continue to come in to back up the front line, which has been methodically pushing in, foot by foot. An air of panic on the ground. Starting to feel like the beginning of the end," Hochman tweeted.

Even more from Deutsche Welle:
Opposition Conservatives say the Emergency Act is not needed and have accused Prime Minister Trudeau of "coming down on peaceful protesters with a sledgehammer."

Parliamentary tempers flared during debate on Wednesday, for instance, when Trudeau responded to Conservative MP Melissa Lantsman, who accused him of "fanning the flame of an unjustified national emergency."

Trudeau fired back, saying: "Conservative Party members can stand with people who wave swastikas. They can stand with people who wave the Confederate flag. We will choose to stand with Canadians who deserve to be able to get to their jobs, to be able to get their lives back. These illegal protests need to stop, and they will."

Conservatives leapt at the opportunity to accuse Trudeau of injurious comment. Lantsman, who is of Jewish descent, demanded an apology, which Trudeau refused to give.

Trudeau's comments and those of his opposition colleagues earned rebuke from House Speaker Rota. The incident was widely covered by right-wing media outlets.

Though such symbols have been sighted at the protests, they have been denounced by parliamentarians. Nevertheless, the new leader of the Conservative Party, Candice Bergen, has eagerly met with the anti-government protesters calling for Trudeau's removal from office.

#12  I'm interested in how the Canadian public will react. I get the sense the truckers do not have wide public support. If they were held in high regard by the public I think more people would have stood with them during their protest. Parliament did not have many supporters of the trucker protest. Did it happen? Was anyone trampled or injured?

Per the right-leaning Washington Examiner, Ottawa police deny it:

Ottawa police released a statement on Twitter assuring the public that authorities are unaware of any injuries.

"We hear your concern for people on the ground after the horses dispersed a crowd. Anyone who fell got up and walked away. We're unaware of any injuries. A bicycle was thrown at the horse further down the line and caused the horse to trip. The horse was uninjured," police said.

Another tweet from Ottawa police later in the evening reads, "Please note: No one has been seriously injured or passed away in any of today's police actions. Safety is our priority."

Iraq
Iraq Detains More than 1,000 Children as ISIS Suspects

Iraqi authorities detained over 1,000 children, some as young as nine years old, last year on national security charges, primarily for suspected links with the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS), according to a new United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
report. Although ISIS attacks have dropped considerably since the group lost most of its territory four years ago, the report finds that the detention of children has significantly increased.

Many of these children were arrested on dubious evidence and tortured into confessions of ISIS involvement.

In late 2018, I interviewed boys detained as ISIS suspects in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Some said they had been recruited to fight with ISIS, while others said that they worked as cooks, drivers, or simply participated in a few days of training. One 17-year-old said he believed he was arrested for working at a restaurant in djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
that served ISIS members. A few said that they had no links to ISIS, other family members had. Regardless of the extent of their involvement, they were all charged with terrorism.

The majority of the boys said their interrogators tortured them to secure confessions. They described beatings with plastic pipes, electric cables, or rods, sometimes for hours. Nearly all said they eventually confessed to ISIS association, believing they had no other choice.

International law prohibits the recruitment or use of children by gangs, yet Iraq is treating these children as criminals, even if there is no evidence they participated in violent mostly peaceful crimes. UN Secretary-General António Guterres
...Portuguese politician and diplomat, ninth Secretary-General of the United Nations. Previously, he was the UN High Commissioner for Refugees between 2005 and 2015. He was the Prime Minister of Portugal from 1995 to 2002 and was the Secretary-General of the Socialist Party from 1992 to 2002. He served as President of the Socialist International from 1999 to 2005. In both a 2012 and 2014 poll, the Portuguese public ranked him as the best Prime Minister of the previous 30 years...
has called on Iraq to release the children.

Instead of detaining and prosecuting children suspected of ISIS affiliation, Iraq should work with the UN to set up reintegration programs so that these children can rejoin their communities, get back into school, and resume their lives.

They were killed during Arclight airstrike

According to reports, Danfulani died alongside some of his lieutenants in an airstrike executed at the East of Madayi in Kukawa Local Government Area (LGA) in the northeastern Nigerian state of Borno, close to Lake Chad, on Sunday, February 13.

Danfulani was an ISWAP Amir (leader) in charge of all the Fulani

and herdsmen who joined the terrorists.

He also coordinated activities of the forces of Evil ranging from the deployment of spies to, the collection of taxes and levies, and also acted as an intermediary between the ISWAP leadership and newly inducted members from his extraction.

Meanwhile,

experts have said his death has no doubt created a consequential vacuum in the ISWAP leadership, particularly in the coordination of its economic activities.

Berlin's 'Candy Bomber' dies aged 101
[DW] Gail Halvorsen, a US air force pilot known as the "candy bomber" or "uncle wiggle wing" in Germany for dropping candy during the Berlin airlift, has died at the age of 101.

Halvorsen was much loved in postwar Berlin for his role in the US response to the Soviet blockade of the Western half of the city in the aftermath of the Second World War.

He last visited Berlin in 2019 as celebrations including a big party at the former Tempelhof airport, since converted to a park, for the 70th anniversary of the end to the Soviet blockade took place.

In a statement, Berlin mayor Franziska Giffey said, "Halvorsen's deeply human act has never been forgotten."

WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT HALVORSEN'S LIFE AND DEATH?
Halvorsen was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. He grew up poor on farms outside of the city during the Great Depression.

He trained as a fighter pilot after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor brought the US into the Second World War. During the war, he flew in the south Atlantic prior to his stint flying food and other supplies during the Berlin Airlift.

On the website of his foundation, Halvorsen recalled having mixed feelings about the airlift so soon after the war as he lost friends and the US and Germany had been on opposing sides of the conflict.

After meeting a group of children on the other side of the Tempelhof fence, his views on the mission changed.

He broke up a piece of gum that he had to give it to the children. They then divvied it up further among themselves and even smelled the wrapper.

He vowed to return with enough candy for all the children and the next day his candy drops began, wiggling the wings of his aircraft as he did so.

The effort soon expanded to other pilots and the mission spawned "Operation Little Vittles."

Among the awards he had received, Halverson was honored with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.

When he passed away Wednesday of pneumonia, he was at home in his home state of Utah surrounded by most of his children, James Stewart, the director of the Gail S. Halvorsen Aviation Education Foundation, said Thursday.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox said after receiving news of Halvorsen's death, "I know he's up there, handing out candy behind the pearly gates somewhere."

The director of the Allied Museum in Berlin, Jurgen Lillteicher, called Halverson an "immensely charismatic and lovable person."

WHAT IS THE BERLIN AIRLIFT?
On June 26, 1948, the US, UK and La Belle France began an airlift to bring food and supplies to West Berlin. Berlin was divided after the war between the US, Britannia, La Belle France and the Soviet Union. The Soviets had blockaded West Berlin to try and squeeze the other powers out.

In total, 278,000 flights into Berlin brought 2.3 million tons of food, coal, medicine and supplies.

After nearly a year, in May of the following year, the Soviets ceased their blockade. The airlift continued for a bit longer in the event Moscow altered its calculus.

For the older, baby boomer generation of Germans born just after the war, memories of American soldiers handing out candy and fruit remain.

US athlete blasted as ‘traitor’ on Chinese social media after 2022 Olympics gold
[NY POST] After leading Team USA to a silver medal in the team figure skating competition and winning his first Olympic gold in the men’s individual event, Nathan Chen has been slammed on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter.

The 22-year-old Chinese American was labeled a “traitor” on the social media platform for choosing to represent the United States, and was even told to “get out of China.” After his victory Thursday, some on Weibo complained that Chen was “too white” and Americanized, citing a long list of examples where they thought Chen was “insulting China” with his actions.

Chen has previously refused to speak Chinese in interviews, claiming that his Mandarin “isn’t very good.”

The Yale student put his support behind American ice dancer Evan Bates’ condemnation of China’s human rights abuses in an October interview. At the time, Bates came down hard on China’s “awful” treatment of the Uyghur people. The US did not send any diplomats to the Winter Olympics in Beijing because of the host country’s “egregious human rights abuses and atrocities.”

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Jordan Says Crackdown on Drug Smugglers is Bringing Results
[AnNahar] The Jordanian military says a crackdown on drug smugglers along the Syrian border is delivering results.

During a media tour along the Syrian border on Thursday, Col. Mustafa al-Hiyari said the military was forced into action in response to increased smuggling activity and violence. In January, an army officer was killed in a shootout with smugglers.

"Changing the rules of engagement came as a result of changing the nature of the threat. Therefore, the results were decisive," he said.

The military says it has killed some 30 smugglers, including 27 people in a single day. al-Hiyari, director of the army's information directorate, also said large quantities of hashish and 16 million narcotics pills have been seized.

He said Syrian authorities have pledged cooperation, but Jordan has seen only limited results. He said in some cases, Syrian police have even cooperated with smugglers along the mostly non-existent border.

"It did not bear fruit for long periods, which forced us to change the rules of engagement," he said of the Syrian pledges to help.

As he spoke, soldiers stood by and army vehicles could be seen patrolling the border. al-Hiyari said the mission is also aimed at stopping the shipment of drugs out of Jordan and across the region.

An illegal drug industry has flourished in Syria after 10 years of civil war. In recent years, the Arab Mediterranean country has emerged as a hotspot for making and selling captagon, an illegal amphetamine. Both Syria and neighboring Lebanon Hezbollahstan
...the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity™, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade...
have become gateways for the drug to the Middle East, particularly the Gulf.

In September, Syrian and Jordanian officials discussed border security after Syrian government forces captured rebel-held areas along the Jordanian frontier. A month later, Jordan's King Abdullah II spoke with Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Lord of the Baath...
for the first time in a decade after the two countries reopened a key border crossing.

Jordan shares a long mostly non-existent border with its northern neighbor and is home to more than 650,000 Syrian refugees who fled the civil war.

On Monday, Abdullah visited the area, saluting army personnel and stressing the need to deal firmly with infiltration and smuggling, the Royal Court said.

According to the Jordanian army, the military last year thwarted about 361 infiltration or smuggling attempts and 48 smuggling operations.

Australia to List Hamas and U.S. Far-Right Group as Terrorists
[AnNahar] Australia on Thursday said it had added the U.S.-based far-right holy warrior group National Socialist Order and planned to add the entirety of the Paleostinian group Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, to its list of outlawed terrorist organizations as concerns rise about radicalized children.
Here’s hoping the FBI remembers to give them the names of their moles, agents provocateur, and informants.
The National Socialist Order, formerly known as Atomwaffen Division, joins Islamist groups Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else
...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State...
and Hurras al-Din in being added to the list, Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews said.

Hamas' military wing, Hamas' Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, has been listed as a terrorist organization since 2003.

The National Socialist Order, which advocates a global "race war" and the collapse of democratic societies, joined the list on Thursday, bringing the number of outlawed groups to 28.

The two Islamist groups, both active in the Syrian civil war, will be listed in April.

Andrews has written to state governments to finalize the listing of Hamas as soon as possible.

"The views of Hamas and the violent mostly peaceful holy warrior groups listed today are deeply disturbing, and there is no place in Australia for such views," Andrews said.

"It's vital that our laws target not only terrorist acts and terrorists, but also the organizations that plan, finance and carry out these acts," she added.

The Australia Paleostine Advocacy Network, a national coalition of Australians who support Paleostinian rights, disagreed with Hamas' political wing being designated a terrorist organization.

The National Socialist Order is only the third far-right group to be designated by Australia as a terrorist organization.

The Base, a neo-Nazi
...adherents of a philosophy that was seen even at the time as pure evil, which makes them either consciously and purely evil, or attention-seeking ratbags. Pick one, or both....
white supremacist group formed in the United States in 2018, was listed in December
...doesn’t Al Qaeda mean The Base? How odd that they picked the same name...
and the British-based Sonnenkrieg Division was listed in August.

Mike Burgess, director general of the Australian Security Intelligence Organization, the nation's main domestic spy agency, said last week that pandemic restrictions in Australia had sent online radicalization "into overdrive" in recent years as isolated people spent more time online.

The proportion of new counter-terrorism investigations involving minors had increased from to less than 3% to 15% in only a few years, Burgess said in his annual threat assessment.

At the end of 2021, minors represented more than half of the spy agency's priority counter-terrorism investigations, he said.

Israeli Jets Overfly Beirut at Very Low Altitude after Hizbullah Sends Drone over Israel
[AnNahar] Two Israeli warplanes overflew Beirut and its suburbs at a very low altitude in a mock raid on Friday, minutes after Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
grabbed credit for a drone that overflew northern Israel for 40 minutes.

The buzzing of the fighter jets jolted residents, rattled windows and set off some car alarms.

Hizbullah meanwhile issued a statement saying it had sent the "Hassan" drone inside Israel. It claimed the drone toured the targeted area for 40 minutes on a "reconnaissance mission that extended along seventy kilometers" inside the occupied territories.

"Despite the enemy's multiple and successive attempts to shoot it down, the 'Hassan' plane returned from the occupied territories safely after it successfully carried out the required mission," it said.

Terrorists Abduct Wives, Four Daughters Of Kaduna Community Leader

Terrorists locally known as bandits have abducted the wives and four daughters of Mallam Ibrahim Tanko, the Ssrkin Hausawa of Anguwar Azara in Jere, along Abuja-Kaduna highway, Kaduna State.

The aggrieved traditional ruler who confirmed the incident to Daily Trust said his family members were taken by the bandits on Tuesday.

He gave the names of his kidnapped wives as Maimuna Ibrahim and Hauwawu Ibrahim.

According to him, the bandits later set free Hauwawu, who was his senior wife, when they discovered that she was suffering from high blood pressure.

He said the bandits, who wielded sophisticated weapons, invaded his house around 11:52pm on Tuesday.

He said he managed to escape using one of the exit doors.
"I had to save the important person - myself"
“It was after they searched and couldn’t see me that they went into a room where my daughters were sleeping and whisked four of them away at gunpoint,” he said.

The Sarkin Hausawa gave the names of his abducted daughters as Aisha Ibrahim, Farida Ibrahim, Zainab Ibrahim and Hussaina Ibrahim.

He said the bandits proceeded to a neighbour’s house and whisked away four residents alongside a nursing mother identified as Laraba Umar.

“In fact, they macheted the woman’s husband until he became unconscious. He is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital at Katari,” he said.

The Sarkin Hausawa said soldiers arrived in the area an hour after the bandits had left with their victims.

Ahmedabad blasts: With 38 getting death, a salute to the brilliant investigators
[OneIndia] On February 8 the special court had held 49 people guilty for the blast in which 56 people were killed and over 200 injured. 28 persons had been acquitted as the court did not find evidence against them.

The blast was the handiwork of the Indian Mujahideen

which had only a year before the blast announced its arrival in Uttar Pradesh following a blast at a court. The Indian Mujahideen comprised members of the Students Islamic Movement of India. It was decided to launch the IM as the SIMI had been banned under the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.

Indian Government Orders Demolition of Jesus Statue in Christian Village
[Breitbart] Government officials ordered the demolition on Tuesday of a 20-foot tall Jesus statue in Gokunte — a Christian village in southern India’s majority Hindu Karnataka state — resulting in the giant sculpture allegedly "smashed to pieces" by the laborers tasked with the teardown, the British Asian Christian Association (BACA) reported on Friday.

The incident took place on the morning of February 15 after a local district administration official arrived in Gokunte along with a demolition team and roughly 40 police officers to pull down the Christian statue. Eyewitness video footage of the teardown published by BACA on Friday shows a laborer operating a backhoe to slowly pick away at the statue’s large concrete and metal base. Other videos show ropes tied to the Jesus figure before machines off-camera pull the structure to the ground.

"Locals object to the government’s decision to demolish [the] Jesus statue in Gokunte village on Tuesday," Karnataka’s News9 digital platform reported.

A local government official told News9 on February 15 "she acted as per the orders of the Karnataka High Court" when approving the Jesus statue’s teardown.

"We demolished the statue based on the High Court order. After seven to eight hearings, the High Court had ordered the demolition of the statue as it was constructed on government land," the official said.

"We had issued a notice to the church regarding the demolition. We had to submit the compliance report to the High Court on Wednesday [February 16] and hence it was demolished," she continued.

The official further told News9 the Karnataka High Court "had issued the order for demolition in March last year."

The Archbishop of Bangalore Peter Machado issued a press release this week denying local government officials had the proper authority to destroy Gokunte’s Jesus statue.

"He alleges the district administration had no right to demolish the statue, because the 2 acre land on which it was erected is belonged to a local church [sic]," BACA relayed on Friday. "He has also stated that paperwork confirming ownership is with the church."

"The Catholic Church in India is incensed that the demolition took place despite a court stay order in place, from a trial court, denying authority for the action taken," BACA reported. "The next hearing for the case was too be 16th February and it seems intentional that the District authorities smashed the statue before the court could give its verdict [sic]."

Gokunte is a small village of about 600 residents. The community "is mainly comprised of Christians who observe the Roman-Catholic faith. It is believed only 4 families adhere to the Hindu faith in the locality," according to BACA.

Gokunte is located in Karnataka state which, along with the rest of India, is majority Hindu. India’s latest available census data from 2011 found 84 percent of Karnataka’s population at the time (61.1 million) identified as Hindu, while just 1.87 percent of the state’s populace identified as Christian. Approximately 80 percent of India’s population in 2011 (1.2 billion) identified as Hindu, while 2.3 percent said they were Christian.

IDF, police seize dozens of weapons being smuggled in from Jordan
[IsraelTimes] Israeli security forces thwarted a gun-smuggling attempt along the Israeli-Jordanian border on Thursday night, seizing some 50 weapons.

In a joint statement Friday, Israel Police and the Israel Defense Forces said troops in the Jordan Valley, with the assistance of soldiers operating surveillance cameras, located two bags with dozens of firearms along the border.

Law enforcement officials said they suspected the weapons were headed to be sold for both criminal and terror purposes.

The guns were estimated to be worth some NIS 2 million ($625,000), according to police.

There were no immediate arrests in connection to the apparent smuggling attempt.

Unlike Israel’s other frontiers — with Egypt, Lebanon Hezbollahstan

and Syria — its border with Jordan is largely open, often without significant fencing, and is relatively unguarded, making it an easy location for large-scale smuggling.

The IDF has stepped up efforts to halt smuggling attempts along the Jordanian border in recent months, but officials have admitted that the military has failed to achieve much success thus far.

Police have increasingly sought to crack down on the until-now unmitigated spread of illegal weapons in the Arab Israeli community, which have been used to carry out record-breaking numbers of murders in recent years.

According to the Abraham Initiatives, a non-government group lobbying against violence in the Arab community, there were 125 Arabs — an all-time record — killed in Israel in 2021 as a result of violence and crime. Since the beginning of this year, another 12 have been killed in incidents of violent mostly peaceful crime.

Government Corruption
Byrd was cleared not because he was innocent but because he shot and killed a Trump supporter, someone considered a subhuman terrorist by the Biden regime.
[AmGreatness] Three months after Ashli Babbitt, an unarmed veteran and Trump supporter, was killed by a Capitol police officer on January 6, 2021, the Justice Department’s Civil Rights division closed its investigation into the fatal shooting.

Omitting the name of Lieutenant Michael Byrd—the media, law enforcement officials, and congressional leaders concealed his identity for months—the Justice Department concluded Byrd did not violate 18 U.S.C., section 242, a federal criminal civil rights statute, when he shot Babbitt at point-blank range without warning, barely missing her face, around 2:45 p.m. that day. “The investigation revealed no evidence to establish beyond a reasonable doubt that the officer willfully committed a violation of 18 U.S.C. § 242,” the Justice Department said in an April 2021 statement.

Reports later revealed that Byrd had refused to participate in any substantive probe of his conduct on January 6. Not only did Byrd escape criminal charges or any internal reprimand, he is still employed as head of security for the House of Representatives and heralded as a hero in many quarters, including the national news media.

At the same time the civil rights division exonerated Byrd of any wrongdoing, the office was investigating a Louisville police officer for allegedly violating the civil rights of a Black Lives Matter protester during riots in that city following the police-involved deaths of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd. Louisville, Taylor’s hometown, was rocked by nights of violent protests resulting in millions of dollars in damages. Seven people were shot on the evening of May 28, 2020; rioters vandalized government buildings and looted stores downtown while attacking officers attempting to restore order.

One of those officers was Cory Evans, a member of the Louisville Police Department. A former Army special forces operative with a tour in Afghanistan, Evans was part of the department’s special response team to deal with large crowds or political protests, which included the BLM riots over Memorial Day weekend 2020.

#2  Putin can indeed do nothing at this point. Cat, [deranged] mouse. He's just toying with Brandon now.

Disagree? How so? You mean, Putin's under great pressure now to carry out his "invasion" ... before what, exactly?

Before his window of opportunity closes? Like, before the dread Russian winter comes? Oh wait...

Oh, you mean, make the first strike before Russia's attacked by Polish German Swedish Mongol invaders? Nope.

Ah, before he loses face and is thrown out of office by Russian voters desperate for glory on the world stage? Nah. No elections coming up, and no Russian wants war with Ukraine.

This is all theater now. There is zero pressure on Putin. He's simply going to ratchet up his mind games until Winken-Blinken-and-NoddingOff finally capitulate and agree to sign a concordat that ensures no NATO membership for Ukraine.

Which, oddly enough, is what the Ukrainian leadership is now happy and willing to accept.

, whose placement of tens of thousands of troops along Russia's border with its smaller neighbor kicked off the current crisis.

Indeed, the leaders of Russia and Ukraine have throughout the weeks-long crisis accused the U.S. and U.K. of stirring panic with talk of an imminent invasion.

ОТНОШЕНИЯ И СТРАТЕГИЧЕСКИЕ ТРЕУГОЛЬНИКИ

Т. Грэм

"A China-Russia-US strategic triangle will have to be Russia’s handiwork. Neither Washington nor Beijing has a profound reason for seeking one. Their sharpening bilateral competition will play itself out on a broader global stage, where Russia is only one among several other major powers. In Washington’s and Beijing’s eyes, the goal is to build productive partnerships with as many of those powers at possible.

"The competition is over the accumulation of major partners, not in gaining any one possible partner in particular, and the edge will go to the country that is the more attractive power across a range of political, economic, technological, cultural, and ideational matters.

"To convince Washington and Beijing to think otherwise, Russia will have to demonstrate that it matters in a unique way, that its power is of a different order than, for instance, Europe’s, India’s, and Japan’s.

"So far, Russia has failed to do that. And the drama for Russia in the 2020s will concern its effort to *** showcase its continuing worth as a top-tier geopolitical actor. ***

Unexplained injuries similar to previous
[CBSNews] High-ranking Homeland Security officials in the Trump administration say they were overcome with feelings of vertigo, confusion and memory loss while on White House grounds and in their Washington, D.C.-area homes. The incidents and symptoms they describe are similar to the "Havana Syndrome" that has been reported by American diplomats in foreign countries since 2016.

The officials spoke to 60 Minutes for a new report airing Sunday. Other stories of officials being stricken were corroborated by former National Security Adviser John Bolton, who fears there is a threat to the highest levels of the U.S. government.

"If we were at war and an adversary could disable the president and his top advisers, or commanders in the field, it could render us extraordinarily vulnerable," Bolton told correspondent Scott Pelley. "We don't know that that's the threat we're facing. But I would much rather focus on finding out the answer now, rather than finding out later when it may be too late."
I strongly suspect the ultimate cause is a US based undercover op gone wrong. It's already common knowledge the CIA and the FBI went rogue a long time ago.

Over 1,800 Nigerian Students, Teachers Were Victims Of Insurgent Attacks In Less Than 7 Years

No fewer than 1,823 students and teachers have been victims of holy warrior attacks on schools between April 2014 and January 2021, a factsheet by SB Morgen Intel has revealed.

According to the SBM report released on Thursday, there were 28 incidents of attacks on schools in Nigeria within the period of study; from the Chibok girls' incidence on April 14, 2014, in Borno to the Barkin Ladin attack on January 12th 2021 in Plateau State.

So far, 1, 799 students were attacked while 24 teachers fell victim to the attacks.

The report further analysed the sources of attack to include: 23 perpetrated by armed bandidos; 3 attacks by Islamist Death Eaters and 2 by unknown button men.

School attacks were prevalent in the Northwest region with 1,166 students recorded to have fallen victim within the period. This is followed by the North East region where 386 students were attacked.

"There are incidents of attack involving students in four geopolitical zones of Northwest, Northeast, Northcentral and Southeast. The Northern part of Nigeria accounts for almost all the attack cases. The Northwest accounts for the highest number of students, 1, 166 students were involved in school attack incidents.

"This is followed by the North East with 386 students, North Central (240) and Southeast. On the other hand, attacks involving teachers were only in the North-west and the Northcentral. Niger to accept foreign troops fighting insurgents in Sahel
[DW] President Mohammed Bazoum says Niger will welcome foreign special forces to secure the region. He said threats from the hard boy groups would likely rise as La Belle France pulls its troops out of Mali.

Niger will host French and European special forces after their withdrawal from neighboring Mali, President Mohammed Bazoum confirmed on Friday.

"They will especially welcome in Takuba because it has great advantages for us. They are special forces with capabilities responding to the threat posed by terrorist organizations," Bazoum wrote on Twitter.

The Niger president said the forces would secure the border area of the West African state.

LA BELLE FRANCE TO TAKE SOLDIERS OUT OF MALI
La Belle France and its European allies, as well as Canada, announced on Thursday that they were pulling their troops out of Mali.

Relations between Gay Paree and Bamako have deteriorated since Mali's military leaders reneged on an agreement to hold elections in February. They instead proposed retaining power until 2025.

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday the fight would continue from Niger.

"The heart of this military operation will no longer be in Mali but in Niger ... and perhaps in a more balanced way across all the countries of the region which want this (help)," he said.

MALI PULLOUT TO TAKE MONTHS
Bazoum confirmed the change on Friday, saying that the foreign forces continue the fight against Islamist Death Eaters.

"This area will be even more infested and the terrorist groups will strengthen. We know that they are destined to extend their influence," Bazoum said.

It could take four to six months until the military withdrawal from Mali is complete.

Bazoum hinted that other West-African states could also host more troops for anti-terrorist operations in his social media posts.

Niger already hosts some French, American, German and Italian forces.

The front man of the Commander in chief of the armed forces, Maj. Gen Yahya Rasool, announced that five turbans were arrested in Baghdad, Saladin, Nineveh, and Erbil.

Rasool said in a statement that the special operations unit launched the second military campaign north of Baghdad, in Tarmiyah district, where the first terrorist was caught.

The Iraqi Counter-Terrorism forces managed to arrest the last two turbans in cooperation with the counter-terrorism directorate in Erbil.

Terrorists Kill Five Residents In Fresh Attack On Benue Communities

No fewer than five people have been reportedly killed by button men suspected to be bandidos in a fresh attack on Tse Udeghe village of Mbapa council ward of Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State.

It was learnt that several people were maimed in the process when the button men in large number allegedly stormed the village at about 4:30pm on Thursday and opened fire on the inhabitants, killing four on the spot.

The button men at about 7pm on the same Thursday were said to have blocked the Naka — Makurdi road around Ahume village and opened fire on a vehicle on motion during which one of the occupants was killed, bringing the number of the deaths to five.

A former information officer of Gwer LGA, Francis Ugbede, said the victims of the first attack included a father and his son.

Confirming the incident was the chairman of Gwer West LGA, Mrs Grace Igbabon, who said that she had also donated 10 cycle of violences to the military to facilitate security movement in the area.

An improvement over this from 2007, but then we aren’t shown the Talibs doing jumping jacks, so can’t fairly compare:

Fifth Column
Bomb Charges Dropped Against Florida Man Linked to Antifa
[EpochTimes] A Florida man accused of carrying explosives to a rally in January recently saw the most serious charges against him dropped after an investigation found the items he possessed didn’t have the capability of exploding.

Court records show three charges of making, possessing, or discharging a destructive device—felonies that could have brought up to 15 years in jail—were dropped because a forensic examination by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives determined they were legal "’novelty devices’ that emit smoke but do not explode if ignited," prosecutors said in a filing in the case, which was brought against Garrett Smith.

The arrest of Smith at a rally held in support of a man who’s in jail on charges linked to the Jan. 6, 2021 U.S. Capitol breach was announced by Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, who described an item in Smith’s backpack as "the bomb."

A police report filed in court said Smith, who was arrested after fleeing the protest on Jan. 6, said he appeared to have "a destructive device/pipe bomb."

The item was examined by FBI
...Formerly one of the world's premier criminal investigation organizations, something for a nation to be proud of. Now it's a political arm of the Deep State oligarchy that is willing to trump up charges, suppress evidence, or take out insurance policies come election time...
bomb experts, who determined it was "a homemade m-type destructive device," according to the booking officer.

A spokeswoman for the office declined to comment on the dropping of the felony charges.

"The stuff he had on him, he’s an adult, and he was legally allowed to carry," Nicholas Dorsten, who is representing Smith, told The Epoch Times.

"They’re smoke bombs that don’t explode; they just emit a puff of smoke," he added.

Smith still faces a second-degree misdemeanor charge of loitering and prowling.

When he was arrested, the defendant was carrying materials linked to Antifa
...the armed wing of the Democratic Party...
, a far-left, anarcho-communist network, authorities said. Additionally, Smith had recently traveled from Portland
...a formerly lovely city in Oregon, governed by an unholy alliance of communists, anarchists, and incompetents. In 2017 the city was named as the fifth most business-friendly in the nation. It took only three years for the city to degenerate to the point where it became a national embarrassment, with antifa and Black Lives Matter bullying taxpayers and occasionally shooting one as an example to the others...
, Oregon, which hosts one of the largest contingents of Antifa members and supporters in the country.

Smith and his counsel are waiting to receive police reports and other evidence before deciding on how to proceed.

"We’re going to look at all options. But he spent a good amount of time in jail, hopefully it’s a good wake-up call for him. Hopefully, he learned ’be careful what you do,’ and I told him, ’Florida is not Oregon.’ There’s certain things he maybe could get away with in other states that yeah, you don’t want to try that stuff here," Dorsten said.

#1  QUESTION: How does the FBI state "a homemade m-type destructive device," and the ATF state
"novelty devices that emit smoke but do not explode if ignited..."

Which is it?

NOTE: When the arresting FBI agent called it a M-TYPE Destructive Device. This meant in his trained eyes, it met this ATF definition. But looking at ATF reg's and doing a search on"M-TYPE Destructive Device" the results speak on Large Bore weapons that discharge a projectile, like a M-79 ???????

Are we seeing another BIDEN/LSD DOJ DA applying a double standard?

ANTI-FA = OK, drop the serious charges slap wrist and release.

The SUN is angry?
[ScienceAlert] The Sun Has Erupted Non-Stop All Month, And There Are More Giant Flares Coming

The past few weeks or so have been a very busy time for the Sun. Our star has undergone a series of giant eruptions that have sent plasma hurtling through space.

Perhaps the most dramatic was a powerful coronal mass ejection and solar flare that erupted from the far side of the Sun on February 15 just before midnight. Based on the size, it's possible that the eruption was in the most powerful category of which our Sun is capable: an X-class flare.

Because the flare and CME were directed away from Earth, we're unlikely to see any of the effects associated with a geomagnetic storm, which occurs when material from the eruption slams into Earth's atmosphere.

These include interruptions to communications, power grid fluctuations, and auroras. But the escalating activity suggests that we may anticipate such storms in the imminent future.

Much more at the link. Head there.

#2  The Boy that cried wolf Solar Flare Eruption????

By my off the cuff rough count, the last several warnings of massive Power and Comm disruptions have been more misses than hits.

But when it does happen, and it has a few times,
it has caused a massive game changing mess

So, better safe than sorry.
