Dallas-area hospice nurses told to overdose patients to speed death
[SeeBS] DALLAS-- The owner of a Dallas-area hospice ordered nurses to increase drug dosages for patients to speed their deaths and maximize profits, according to an FBI affidavit.

A copy of the affidavit for a search warrant obtained by KXAS-TV in Dallas-Fort Worth alleges Brad Harris ordered higher dosages for at least four patients at Novus Health Services in Frisco. It's unclear whether any deaths resulted from overdoses of drugs like morphine.

Harris has not been charged. The FBI on Wednesday declined to say whether an investigation is ongoing.

The warrant refers to an FBI raid on the hospice in September. It alleges Harris sent text messages to workers such as, "You need to make this patient go bye-bye." On another occasion, Harris told administrators during a lunch meeting that he wanted to "find patients who would die within 24 hours."

In at least one instance, an employee refused to follow orders to increase a dosage, the warrant said.

The document explains that federal reimbursements can diminish the longer a patient receives care. A provider eventually can be forced to return federal payments.

#1  The document explains that federal reimbursements can diminish the longer a patient receives care. A provider eventually can be forced to return federal payments.

The other dynamic at play is; the longer a patient receives care, the more care and personal attention he or she requires from staff. Unspoken 'Actuarial Life Tables' in hospices are a fact. Possibly an over-generalization, but those still able to respond to care, get care. The unresponsive, not so much.

#2  More CMS supported fraud than homicide.

Getting more juice in the kickers drives up the reimbursement for allowable treatment costs. When multi-facility providers can push their average consumption up the amount of allowable reimbursement also increases during the 3-5 year formative period for this component of the ACA model.

#5  Multiple benefits to targeting 'short-timers' for costs.
- quick insurer payout for meds
- higher reimbursement for claims
- if the charges are contested, the insurer is a litigation partner as they generally must approve the treatment
- caregivers for terminal patients are unlikely to contest painkillers or be financially responsible for the administration
- administrative direction to staff is outside the controls of AMA

Do Radicalized Islamic Communities Exist in the U.S.?
[CP] Jamaat ul-Fuqra, a Pakistani militant group that has rebranded itself as Muslims of the Americas, says it has 22 "Islamic villages" in the U.S.

GOP presidential candidate Senator Ted Cruz's call for patrolling of Muslim communities with signs of extremism is being bashed as pandering to anti-Muslim voters, with critics saying there aren't even Islamist communities in the U.S. to begin with.

They are wrong. They exist -- and newly-published documents show that they've boasted of enforcing Islamic sharia law, even going so far as to whip children.

Jamaat ul-Fuqra, a Pakistani militant group that has rebranded itself as Muslims of the Americas, says it has 22 "Islamic villages" in the U.S. Its "Islamberg" headquarters in New York is the most well-known.
Cruz is right, they're already here.

Arabia
Yemen says dozens of al-Qaeda fighters detained in Aden
[AlAhram] Yemeni pro-government forces have carried out a series of raids against al-Qaeda in the southern port city of Aden, arresting dozens of suspects and causing the faceless myrmidons to flee from key areas, a top security official said Wednesday.

Maj. Gen. Shalal Shayaa, Aden's security chief, said that southern fighters backing the government have set up checkpoints across the al-Mansoura neighborhood, a former Lion of Islam stronghold. Shayaa later toured al-Mansoura on foot, reassuring residents and checking security patrols, according to witnesses.

Shayaa said the raids are part of a campaign aimed at consolidating the internationally-recognized government's control over Aden, its de facto capital. Shia militias known as Houthis seized the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, in 2014. Aden was plunged into lawlessness after government forces backed by a Saudi-led coalition drove the Houthis out last year.

Europe
Brussels '€˜throwing money' at lawless African state now at brink of civil war
[Express] THE European Union has been branded "irresponsible" for "throwing money" at an African state besieged by poverty, violence and corruption.
I've got it! Small forts could be built adjacent the rail lines. They can be built of concrete or stone and will serve as a long lasting testimony to British and EU resolve. Not sure why I didn't think of it before.
More than 400 people have been killed in Burundi since last April when President Pierre Nkurunziza announced he was standing for re-election - a vote he won that July for the third time.

Now as the threat of violence between rebels and government-backed soldiers heightens, and the country faces civil war, the EU has announced it will suspend funding to the army in a ploy to encourage peace talks - a move which UKIP (United Independence Party) have dubbed irresponsible.
I had to include the following comment from a chap named Wallace:
"Surprise surprise!!!! THE European Union has been branded "irresponsible" for "throwing money" Nothing new here folfks! I have worked and lived in Africa and can say ALL of Africa is corrupt! The British government accountants have known this for generations. To say the unelected EU thiefs and the British elected are only seeing this now, takes a lot of believing? Most of the money goes to the top political peoples bank accounts. The working people paying taxes have always been the ones to pay it ALL. Even the Salvation get goods free here and SELL them in Africa. IT's ALL about money. All the charities you give money to , live it up in Africa and have outlandish weekend parties all paid for. Governments have FREE holidays, everything paid for by YOU.

Britain needs a shake up and needs OUT of the EU. Muslims need to be be told there are no changes here , if you do not like it then LEAVE!"

Another Climate Alarmist Admits Real Motive Behind Warming Scare
Fraud: While the global warming alarmists have done a good job of spreading fright, they haven’t been so good at hiding their real motivation. Yet another one has slipped up and revealed the catalyst driving the climate scare.

We have been told now for almost three decades that man has to change his ways or his fossil-fuel emissions will scorch Earth with catastrophic warming. Scientists, politicians and activists have maintained the narrative that their concern is only about caring for our planet and its inhabitants. But this is simply not true. The narrative is a ruse. They are after something entirely different.

If they were honest, the climate alarmists would admit that they are not working feverishly to hold down global temperatures -- they would acknowledge that they are instead consumed with the goal of holding down capitalism and establishing a global welfare state.

Have doubts? Then listen to the words of former United Nations climate official Ottmar Edenhofer:

"One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with the environmental policy anymore, with problems such as deforestation or the ozone hole," said Edenhofer, who co-chaired the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change working group on Mitigation of Climate Change from 2008 to 2015.

So what is the goal of environmental policy?

"We redistribute de facto the world’s wealth by climate policy," said Edenhofer.

For those who want to believe that maybe Edenhofer just misspoke and doesn’t really mean that, consider that a little more than five years ago he also said that "the next world climate summit in Cancun is actually an economy summit during which the distribution of the world’s resources will be negotiated."

Mad as they are, Edenhofer’s comments are nevertheless consistent with other alarmists who have spilled the movement’s dirty secret. Last year, Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of U.N.’s Framework Convention on Climate Change, made a similar statement.

"This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution," she said in anticipation of last year’s Paris climate summit.

"This is probably the most difficult task we have ever given ourselves, which is to intentionally transform the economic development model for the first time in human history."

The plan is to allow Third World countries to emit as much carbon dioxide as they wish -- because, as Edenhofer said, "in order to get rich one has to burn coal, oil or gas" -- while at the same time restricting emissions in advanced nations. This will, of course, choke economic growth in developed nations, but they deserve that fate as they "have basically expropriated the atmosphere of the world community," he said. The fanaticism runs so deep that one professor has even suggested that we need to plunge ourselves into a depression to fight global warming.

Perhaps Naomi Klein summed up best what the warming the fuss is all about in her book "This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate."

"What if global warming isn’t only a crisis?" Klein asks in a preview of a documentary inspired by her book. "What if it’s the best chance we’re ever going to get to build a better world?"

In her mind, the world has to "change, or be changed" because an "economic system" -- meaning free-market capitalism -- has caused environmental "wreckage."

This is how the global warming alarmist community thinks. It wants to frighten, intimidate and then assume command. It needs a "crisis" to take advantage of, a hobgoblin to menace the people, so that they will beg for protection from the imaginary threat. The alarmists’ "better world" is one in which they rule a global welfare state. They’ve admitted this themselves.

Europe
Austria moves to block asylum-seekers with tough new rules
[AlAhram] Austria on Wednesday moved to further tighten migrants colonists' access to the country by placing tough new restrictions on asylum eligibility and making it easier to reject asylum seekers at the border.

As of mid-May, the government will only accept cases of refugees facing threats to their safety in a neighbouring transit country or whose relatives are already in Austria.

"We will not consider any asylum requests unless we have to because of certain criteria... like under the (European) Convention on Human Rights," Interior Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner told a presser in Vienna.

She said the decision was in accordance with European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
law which allowed member states to take national measures in emergency situations.

Austria -- which last year received one of the highest asylum claims per capita in the EU -- was no longer "obliged" to accept all requests because the migrant crisis posed "a threat to public order and national security", Mikl-Leitner said.

The new rules will also force migrants colonists to request asylum directly at the border in purpose-built registration centres, where they may be held for up to 120 hours while their application is being checked.

Illegal migrants colonists caught inside the country will be taken to the border, Mikl-Leitner warned, while rejected asylum-seekers will be returned to the nation from where they crossed into Austria.

The government also reaffirmed its intention to step up controls at existing checkpoints along its southern frontiers, including at the Brenner Pass, a key European transit route on the Italian border.

Some 14,000 people have already applied for asylum in Austria so far this year, according to the interior ministry -- reaching nearly half of the annual quota of 37,500 claims imposed by the government in January.

But the flow has slowed to a trickle since Austria and Balkan countries along the main migrant trail leading up from Greece shut their borders at the end of February.

#1  Boko Haram is not the name of the group

Their actual name is Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihād which means "Group of the People of Sunnah for Preaching and Jihad"

while it is unwieldy that is not the reason it is not used.

Our rulers are busy lying to us we are not in WW4 against Islamist theocratic fascism.

just look at your headlines and substitute Islamists for each and every time you see these words.

"daesh", "Islamic State", "Boko Haram", "Al-Nusra", "al Qaeda", "terrorist", "ISIS", "ISIL".

The result is illustrative. It would make the conflict a lot clearer to everyone.

The Grand Turk
Turkey detains 16 suspected Nusra militants: Report
[AlAhram] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
on Wednesday detained 16 members of Al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate Al-Nusra Front in a major police operation in the east of the country, reports said.

The suspects were detained in raids on 20 addresses in the eastern region of Adiyaman north of the Syrian border, the state-run Anatolia news agency reported.

It said the raids targeted people believed to be connected to fighting in Syria, without giving further details. Their nationalities were not disclosed.

The police failed to find four more suspects at their homes. At least two of those detained at previously been to Syria, it said.

The Al-Nusra Front shares some of the aims of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) krazed killer group but has also on occasion fought against it.

This was one of the first times there has been a report of a major operation against suspected members of the group in Turkey.

Turkey has been accused in the past by its Western allies of not doing enough in the fight against IS group and Al-Nusra, although it has noticeably tightened border security in recent months and detained dozens of IS suspects.

Ankara has also been charged by some commentors on occasion of even collaborating with Al-Nusra Front as a useful ally in its drive to oust Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Before going into the family business Pencilneck was an eye doctor. If he'd stuck with it he'd have had a good practice by now...
from power.

Turkey bitterly rejects the claims, saying it categorises the Al-Nusra Front -- like IS group -- as a terror outfit.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Turkish army ‘ready’ to shell YPG positions if it crosses Azaz-Jarablus line
Ankara is closely following reports of a planned operation by the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the northern Syrian town of Manbij, held by fighters of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), Turkish military officials have stated, expressing readiness to shell Syrian Kurdish forces in the event of a violation of “Turkey’s red line.”

Confirming recent moves in the region, military sources said Turkey would launch the “required response” from inside Turkish territory in the event of seizure of the so-called “Azaz-Jarablus line” by the People’s Protection Units (YPG), the militia forces of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), both of which are regarded as off-shoots of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
So the Turks are now openly supporting ISIL?
In such a case, Turkish artillery units deployed near the border would launch intense fire at the PYD forces, the sources said on March 30.

PYD-YPG mobility in the field, which is apparently aimed at moving towards the Azaz-Jarablus line after seizing Manbij from ISIL, has been closely followed by aerial and ground intelligence units, military sources said. They noted that they did not yet have information indicating that the U.S.-led coalition forces would lend support to this planned operation from the air.

“The required response would be given from inside Turkey without entering Syrian territory,” the sources said.

In such a situation, the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) plans to use the South Korean-designed T-155 Fırtına howitzers, in retaliatory shelling of its southern neighbor.

Turkey had also used Fırtına howitzers in mid-February, while shelling YPG targets in the Azaz town of northern Syria, after the group seized the Menagh air base north of Aleppo.

A leading U.K. daily newspaper recently reported that Washington has been pushing Turkey to close “the last border exit” from Syria used by foreign ISIL fighters to gain access to Europe for terrorist attacks.

“Western intelligence agencies believe that some of the terrorists involved in the bombings in Paris and Brussels travelled along a 60-mile highway that runs through the [ISIL]-controlled town of Manbij, south of the Syrian-Turkish border, before making their way to France and Belgium,” The Times reported on March 28.

“The American plan is to back up Kurdish fighters who would seize the road leading out of Manbij and take control of the border,” it said.

India-Pakistan
JUI-F chief calls for making Pakistan a true Islamic welfare state
[DAWN] Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...a pak religious party. It is usually part of the govt, never part of the solution...
(JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman
Deobandi holy man, known as Mullah Diesel during the war against the Soviets, his sympathies for the Taliban have never been tempered by honesty ...
has called for making Pakistain a true Islamic welfare state and introducing the Islamic system in the country.

He was addressing the 77th annual Dastar-e-Fazeelat Conference at the Jamia Mazharul Uloom, Manzilgah, on Tuesday. The conference was presided over by caretaker of Dargah Halejvi Sharif, Abdul Samad Halejvi.

The JUI-F chief said his party opposed moves to promote secularism in the country. He claimed that Pakistain was created in the name of Islam and solution of country’s all problems lied in following the guidelines provided in the Koran and Sunnah. Introduction of secular ideas in the name of moderation and progressive thoughts could not be accepted, he added.

He criticised the rulers and some politicians for what he called promoting secular ideas in the country. He accused the rulers of handing over the affairs of the country in the hands of international NGOs.

The JUI-F chief said international conspiracies were being hatched against the Islamic world and madressahs (religious seminaries). Some politicians and NGOs are trying to portray a bad picture of madressahs and they are forcing the government to take action against them. Turkish Red Crescent to build migrant readmission camp in western Turkey
A camp with a capacity of 5,000 people will be built in the western province of Manisa to accommodate colonists migrants readmitted to Turkey, Turkish Red Moon Shaped Thingy Crescent Deputy Chair Kerem Kınık has said.

“We are conducting work for the construction of a camp with a capacity of 5,000 people to host the colonists refugees in our country under humanitarian conditions and to provide for their needs,” Kınık told Anadolu Agency.

The plan for the camp, which is the first to be constructed in Turkey outside the country’s south and southeast, comes after Ankara inked a deal with the EU regarding colonists refugees who arrive in Europe via Turkey. According to the deal, Turkey is set to take back colonists migrants who reached Greece on or after March 20. For every colonist migrant Turkey takes back, the EU will accept onecolonist migrant from camps in Turkey, in an effort to reduce the illegal crossings. The returns will begin on April 4.
Isn't that just another version of 'catch and release'?
As part of the deal, Turkey will receive 3 billion euros – in addition to an initial 3 billion euros that was earmarked late last year – to provide further assistance to the refugees. Turkey has also agreed to pursue all measures in an effort to prevent migrants from using sea or land routes in their quest to reach Europe.
"All measures"? What's that, exactly?
Turkey is already home to over 2.7 million Syrians, most of whom live outside official camps.

Kınık said the Turkish Red Moon Shaped Thingy Crescent was working with the Directorate General of Migration Management about the services to be offered to the colonists refugees who will return to Turkey in accordance with the deal.

“The directorate carried out some activities in Greece for the identification of the colonists refugees and irregular migrants who are subject to return,” said Kınık.

Highlighting that there are already 22 refugee camps in Turkey, Kınık said: “250,000 Syrians are living in these camps. We have Turkish Red Moon Shaped Thingy Crescent cards for these people. We have provided financial support of around 310 million Turkish Liras [to refugees] with these cards. Our support for those living outside the camps continues as well in this regard. We are trying to solve our colonists refugee brothers’ problems with adaptation in society centers that we recently opened. There are also camps that we are supporting inside Syria. We are giving support to 500,000 to 600,000 victims inside Syria.”

Meanwhile, the number of colonists refugees arriving from Turkey in Greece rose sharply on March 30. Greek authorities recorded 766 new arrivals between the morning of March 29 and the morning of March 30, up from 192 the previous day. Most arrived on the northeastern Aegean island of Lesbos.

The EU Commission said on March 29 that the flows in the last week had diminished, with only 1,000 people arriving from Turkey on the Greek islands, compared to an average of 2,000 a day in the last couple of months. It was not clear why the numbers had dropped, but the Aegean Sea had been hit with bad weather and gale-force winds, making the journey from Turkey on small rubber boats even more dangerous.
The colonists refugees aren't stupid...
Turkish, Greek and other NATO member state ships are in full view on the water, while on land, Turkish police have increased controls on the main roads leading to the Aegean coast, turning back those suspected of planning to take to migrant boats.

'Empire' Flops Overseas as Foreign Viewers Resist Hollywood's Diversity Push
[HOLLYWOODREPORTER] Driven by the ratings success of shows with mainly nonwhite casts — Empire, Black-ish and Fresh Off the Boat — along with political pressure to make shows better reflect their diverse audience, American TV outlets increasingly are greenlighting series that feature black, Asian and Latino leads. Fox's 24: Legacy, a reboot of the Kiefer Sutherland series, stars Corey Hawkins, famous as Dr. Dre from Straight Outta Compton. CBS has Rush Hour, based on the action movie franchise, starring Jon Foo and Justin Hires, and has cast Sarah Shahi, a former NFL cheerleader of Persian and Spanish ancestry, as Nancy Drew in its reboot of the lily-white mystery franchise.

"It's color-blind casting," says Sony Pictures TV casting director Dawn Steinberg. "There used to be a time when it had to be written that way to look for an actor with a specific ethnicity. Now it's just who is the best actor for the role."

But when trying to sell overseas, American shows are finding the color barrier is still there. Why? Insiders say it's because international audiences have yet to truly embrace diversity on the small screen. "These shows are a reflection of our society, but [they are] not a reflection of all societies," says Marion Edwards, president of international TV at Fox.

#14  Empire's problem, and all current American soap operas, is it is over stylized. It does not matter how good the script is or how well it is acted, if a person is not totally into the style, in this case wardrobe, it is unwatchable. Or zombies, or drugprouction

The reality shows as they call themselves are so select in the topic, that if you took the topic and add "...walk into a bar." You wonder what the punchline is. "Two naked people living in the woods walk into a bar..." "A family of midgets little people walk into a bar..."

Comedies are regional, and a lot of American comedy is topical/satire so the joke is lost.

News, they have the locals to tell them how mushrooms grow.

Sports is local.

Any takers on Legacy receiving a shitpot of awards, especially lead actor?

Dawn Steinberg is lying to your face.

Tripoli Gov’t Demands PM-Designate Sarraj Leave Libya Capital
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] Libya's unrecognized authorities in control of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
on Wednesday demanded that the head of a UN-backed unity government Fayez al-Sarraj leave just hours after he arrived in the capital.

In a televised address, the head of the Tripoli authorities Khalifa Ghweil said Sarraj's government was "illegal", asking him to leave the capital or to "hand himself in".

Sarraj, who was named prime minister-designate in December under a UN-brokered power-sharing deal, arrived at a naval base in Tripoli Wednesday following growing international calls for Libya's rival political camps to unite behind his administration.

"Those who entered illegally and secretly must surrender or turn back," Ghweil said. "We won't leave Tripoli as long as we are not sure of the fate of our homeland."

Libya has had two rival administrations since mid-2014 when a militia alliance overran the capital, setting up its own authority and forcing the internationally recognized parliament to flee to the country's remote east.

Gitmo aumnus Mullah Zakir ends rifts with Mullah Akhtar Mansoor
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A prominent Taliban capo and member of the group’s leadership council ‘Rahbari Shura’ Mullah Abdul Qayoum Zakir has ended rifts with Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansoor.

An online statement published by Taliban on Wednesday states that Mullah Zakir pledges allegiance to the new leader.

The statement dated today carries Mullah Abdul Qayoum Zakir’s name at the bottom.

When the death of Mullah Mohammad Omar was confirmed in late July last year, a group of Taliban capos announced Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansour as their next leader but some others including Mullah Zakir opposed the appointment.

Mullah Abdul Qayoum Zakir once headed Taliban’s military commission but stepped down due to differences with Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansoor.

He was a US prisoner at the detention cap of Guantanamo Bay.

The Big Corruption-in-Big-Oil email release that's been going around
by Thing From Snowy Mountain

If I may use one of these mountains for a soapbox for a moment...

Over at Slashdot there's a thread about widespread corruption in the oil industry, in particular a great deal about a Morocco-based company called Unaoil.

The comments thread there, where I tried to reply but couldn't, thanks to what's either a technical glitch or a "shadowban" masquerading as a technical glitch, is what one would typically expect. Look at how corrupt the oilfield is. "We" should do more to cripple it. Et cetera.

It and its larger brother on reddit are basically long involved threads (over a thousand comments in the reddit one by now, I'm sure) about how, if we'd only listened to King Laius and killed the baby, none of this stuff would have happened and Sophocles wouldn't have had anything to write home about.

Leaving aside my personal circumstances: according to this article, oil majors have replaced 75% of the production they'd used up in 2015. If this year continues like last year, this will result in production in January 2017 that will be (hmm... (* .75 .75)) 56.25% of what it was in Dec. 2014. Basically, US production is on a course to decline to half of what it was at peak production, and we'll be dependent on people like the Saudis, who are encouraged in their dumping by the fact that the US government, and its electorate, think they're fighting corruption by exporting the industry. Any attempts at recovery will be exacerbated by the likely new president's promise to eviscerate what's left of the coal industry, which will greatly hurt our ability to produce the steel products that are used to extract oil and natural gas.

We're about halfway through a process that will leave us dependent on imports for half of our oil. AGAIN. And the popular reaction to the corrupt governments that demand bribes as the cost of doing business is that more should be done to inhibit domestic production.

The modern US is continually meeting its fate on the road it takes to avoid it.

The military front man said that Yadav would be prosecuted as per the law of land.

Responding to a question about granting consular access to him as sought by the Indian government, Gen Bajwa said he was caught red-handed while planning subversive activity in Pakistain and a decision in this regard would be taken later.

"We’ll cross the bridge when we come to it. There are lots of technicalities involved in it," he said.

Boeing says it will cut more than 4,500 jobs
[MSN] The planemaker will reduce 1,600 positions in the commercial airplanes division through voluntary layoffs, while the rest of the cuts are expected to be completed by leaving open positions unfilled, front man Doug Alder said.

"While there is no employment reduction target, the more we can control costs as a whole the less impact there will be to employment," Alder said.

The job cuts, which will include hundreds at executive and managerial positions, will not done through involuntary layoffs, Alder said.

Boeing will also cut about 10 percent of the approximately 5,700 jobs in its test and evaluation division, which conducts flight and lab tests, spokeswoman Sandra Angers told Rooters.

The company had a total of 161,400 employees as of Dec. 31.

Rooters had reported last month that Boeing was considering offering voluntary layoffs to its professional engineers and technical workers.

In February, Ray Conner, chief executive of Boeing's airplane business, warned employees that job cuts were necessary to "win in the market, fund our growth and operate as a healthy business."

Lockheed Martin doing the same thing in Atlanta. They'll soon be hiring new, younger employees at lower wages and benefits, or no benefits at all. The monthly savings will more than cover the buy-outs. The demographic metrics of professional engineers and technical workers leans heavily toward people of privilege, which is never a good thing. Students Claim Pro-Trump White Board Message Is ‘Violence’
[BREITBART] Chaos erupted at an all-female university in Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, over the weekend after a Mexican-American student woke on Saturday to a pro-Trump message written on her white board.

The message, which simply read "#Trump2016," has been called an act of "intentional violence" in a university-wide email sent by Minjoo Kim, the student body president at Scripps College in Claremont, California.

"This morning, a Mexican-American Scripps student woke up to find her whiteboard vandalized with the phrase ‘#Trump2016.’ This racist act is completely unacceptable," Kim wrote. "Regardless of your political party, this intentional violence committed directly to a student of color proves to be another testament that racism continues to be an undeniable problem and alarming threat on our campuses."

Kim claimed that the pro-Trump message violates Scripps’ goal of creating an "inclusive, safe, and welcoming community." She recommended her peers seek out university counseling services if the 10 character message threatens their "mental and emotional health."

The student on the receiving end of the hashtag vandalism took to Facebook where she claimed that her experience with the dry-erase defacement is a reminder that "racism is alive and well."

a valid point. I do not think it is funny at all. I am torn between being horrified at the waste of human life and terrified for the future of the U.S.

Unlike cambodia, however we have not yet decayed to the point where these powder puffs pose a real threat. In absolute numbers there are too few, and they are too thinly spread out.

This can change, but the rot has not gotten deep enough yet. I doubt I will live long enough for things to get that bad. I do not envy the lot of those 10-20 years younger than me, though.

#19  Klingon, I ain't, but I was curious. For the rest of you - It was formed in 1968 as an offshoot of the Vietnam People's Army from North Vietnam. It was the ruling party in Cambodia from 1975 to 1979. It allied with North Vietnam, the Viet Cong, and Pathet Lao during the Vietnam War against the anti-communist forces.

The organization is remembered especially for orchestrating the Cambodian genocide, which resulted from the enforcement of its social engineering policies. Its attempts at agricultural reform led to widespread famine, while its insistence on absolute self-sufficiency, even in the supply of medicine, led to the death of thousands from treatable diseases such as malaria. Arbitrary executions and torture carried out by its cadres against perceived subversive elements, or during purges of its own ranks between 1975 and 1978, are considered to have constituted genocide.

JIT finds clues to Jamaatul Ahrar’s role in park carnage
[DAWN] LAHORE: The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) constituted by the Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

government to probe the suicide kaboom in a park here claimed on Tuesday to have found some clues which suggested that banned bully boy outfit Jamaatul Ahrar
...A Pak Taliban splinter group that split off from the Mullah Fazlullah faction because it wasn't violent enough...
was involved in the carnage.
Since they said they dunnit that shouldn't come as a surprise.
"The daylong investigation produced some solid evidence that the same network (Jamaatul Ahrar) was behind the terror strikes in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park, Youhannabad, Wagah border and the Police Lines," Lahore Capital City Police Officer retired Capt Amin Wains told Dawn.

He said the JIT had shifted its focus to Jamaatul Ahrar when it released the photo of the bomber, identifying him as Salahuddin, aged between 20 and 25.

Jamaatul Ahrar was formed in September 2014 when Ehsanullah Ehsan
...formerly the front man for the Pak Taliban, now the lips and tongue of the Jamaatul Ahrar splinter group in Mohmand Agency...
announced quitting the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain, led by Mullah Fazlullah
...son-in-law of holy man Sufi Mohammad. Known as Mullah FM, Fazlullah had the habit of grabbing his FM mike when the mood struck him and bellowing forth sermons. Sufi suckered the Pak govt into imposing Shariah on the Swat Valley and then stepped aside whilst Fazlullah and his Talibs imposed a reign of terror on the populace like they hadn't seen before, at least not for a thousand years or so. For some reason the Pak intel services were never able to locate his transmitter, much less bomb it. After ruling the place like a conquered province for a year or so, Fazlullah's Talibs began gobbling up more territory as they pushed toward Islamabad, at which point as a matter of self-preservation the Mighty Pak Army threw them out and chased them into Afghanistan...
, and claimed to have the support of 70-80 per cent of TTP commanders and fighters.

The group said to be involved in other attacks as well
"The photo shared by the banned outfit and the sketch drawn by the Lahore police of the suspected bomber a day after the attack were almost identical," the Lahore police chief said.

Surprisingly, he said, some evidence found from Sunday’s blast site had strong resemblance to those collected by Sherlocks after the three previous terror attacks carried out in Lahore, suggesting that Jamaatul Ahrar was behind all these incidents.

"A group of senior coppers thoroughly re-examined the three previous terror cases to analyse them in the perspective of the Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park suicide kaboom and found strong indicators that led them to this notorious organization," Mr Wains claimed.

He said officials of the Punjab Forensic Science Agency, who were analysing the fresh evidence sent to them by police, had also endorsed the Sherlocks’ point of view. For instance, he added, the bomber had used specifically engineered belt, instead of ‘suicide jacket’, in the blast. In the previous three attacks the same belt was used.

The CCPO further said that the design, pattern and material of the belt (remains of which were found from Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park) being examined by forensic experts was almost identical to those analysed after the previous three terror incidents.

"We again interrogated the detained accused, including controllers of the previous three terror incidents, and reached the conclusion that Jamaatul Ahrar was behind the latest attack," he said.

On the basis of Tuesday’s investigations, he added, police teams had started a massive search in the city, particularly Iqbal Town, for sleeper cells of bandidos Death Eaters and their controllers.

The many anxieties of terror
[DAWN] MORE than half this war is already won, but it’s the half that’s left which really counts. They can kill our children and attack our schools and playgrounds, but for all the stomach-churning wretchedness of this fight, none of these acts threatens the integrity of the state or the cohesion of society.

However cold this may sound given the horrible bombing in Lahore, it is a central fact in this fight. Not too long ago, the aim of the Pak Taliban movement included capture of the state of Pakistain, and they made credible advances towards that objective. It was slightly less than a decade ago that the movement consisted of militias that were capable of conquering and holding territory.

Newly found debris MATCHES missing Malaysian Airlines jet
[EXPRESS.CO.UK] DEBRIS found washed up on the shores of Mozambique MATCHES the missing parts from Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, the Australian Transportation Safety Bureau has announced.

A Malaysian investigation team examining the two pieces of debris confirmed the paint and stencilling of the parts were consistent with the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 jet.

The Malaysian ICAO Safety Investigation Team said the debris were panels from the plane, which vanished in March 2014.

A report read: "The dimensions, materials and construction of both parts conform to the specifications of a Boeing 777 aircraft.

"The paint and stenciling on both parts match those used by Malaysia Airlines; and as such, both parts are consistent with panels from a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 aircraft, and are almost certainly from MH370."

Europe
French suspect charged in imminent terror plot
[FOXNEWS] Gay Paree authorities filed preliminary terrorism charges Wednesday against a 34-year-old Frenchie for allegedly plotting an imminent attack and operating an explosives arsenal of what prosecutors called "unprecedented scale."

Gay Paree Prosecutor Francois Molins said Wednesday that the suspect, Reda Kriket, is accused of participating in a terrorist group with plans for at least one attack, possessing and transporting arms and explosives, and holding fake documents, among other charges. Kriket will stay in jug while magistrates continue investigating the case and determine whether to send him to trial.

Kriket is believed to have traveled to Syria in 2014 and 2015 and made several trips between La Belle France and Belgium and the Netherlands, Molins said.

At least three other people are in jug in the case in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Molins did not say whether Kriket's purported plot was linked to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
network behind last week's attacks in Brussels and last November's attacks in Gay Paree.

The prosecutor said no target for Kriket's thwarted attack has been identified, and Kriket has given limited explanation to Sherlocks in his six days in detention.

Two Algerians believed linked to Kriket's alleged plot are being held in Brussels. The Belgian federal prosecutors' office said Wednesday that the men, identified as Abderrahmane A. and Rabah M., will face a hearing April 7.

Another Frenchie linked to Kriket, Anis Bari, is being held in the Dutch city of Rotterdam, Molins said. Bari is resisting extradition to La Belle France.

Among things found when police searched Kriket's apartment in the Gay Paree suburb of Argenteuil on Thursday were 500 grams of the explosive TATP, 1.3 kilograms of industrial explosives, several bottles of oxygenated water and acetone, material to make detonators, five automatic rifles, seven cell phones, stolen passports and two computers showing links with jihadi groups, Molins said.

Before the Gay Paree attacks, Kriket and the suspected Gay Paree attacks ringleader were convicted in absentia in the July 2015 trial of Khaled Zerkani, who Belgium's federal prosecutor described as "the most significant recruiter of jihadi candidates in Belgium." Kriket, like Gay Paree attacks criminal mastermind Abdelhamid Abaaoud, was absent for the trial. Also implicated in the network was Najim Laachraoui, the bombmaker who made the explosives for the Nov. 13 attacks and then used his own creations as a suicide kaboomer in Brussels on March 22.

Also Wednesday, French President Francois Hollande
...the Socialist president of La Belle France, an economic bad joke for la Belle France but seemingly a foreign policy realist...
decided to abandon proposed legislation that would have revoked citizenship for convicted gunnies and strengthened the state of emergency, because differences between the two houses of parliament could not be resolved.

He had submitted the two proposals days after the Nov. 13 attacks in Gay Paree that left 130 people dead.

The country's state of emergency, swiftly declared by the government on the night of the attacks, was recently extended to May 26. It extends some police powers of search and arrest and limits public gatherings, among other changes.

Laptop found near terror suspects’ hideout held images of Belgian PM’s home

[IsraelTimes] Officials request US authorities’ help to examine electronic devices seized in raids conducted after last week’s Brussels attacks

An official linked to the investigation of the Brussels terror attacks said Wednesday that a laptop found near the hideout of the suspects in the March 22 airport bombing contained images of the prime minister’s official residence and office.

The official, who asked not to be identified because the investigation was ongoing, said that at the moment there were "absolutely no" specific indications that Prime Minister Charles Michel was under threat from the attackers.

He said the computer "was full of stuff" of many locations and information garnered from the Internet.

The prime minister’s office has long been under special security review which been increased since the November 13 attacks in Gay Paree.

On Monday, the Wall Street Journal reported that Belgian officials had requested of US authorities to help examine two laptops and several phones seized from suspects in raids since the attacks in Brussels.

Russia's Secret Weapon of the ISIS War
In the battle with ISIS for storied Palmyra, Russian forces unleashed their flying tank.

Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad's forces battling to recapture the ancient city of Palmyra had a lot of help from above. At least one Russian Mi-28 attack helicopter--Moscow's answer to the U.S. Army's fearsome Apache gunship--flew top cover as Syrian tanks and infantry stormed the modern city adjacent to the UN World Heritage Site.

Video posted online by a pro-regime group clearly shows an Mi-28 firing a rocket from beneath one of its stubby wings. The battle for Palmyra, which ended this week as ISIS militants fled the city, apparently represented the two-seat, gun- and missile-armed Mi-28's combat debut.

One of the last of the old-fashioned hereditary iron-fisted fascist dictators.
said it would not be difficult to agree on a new Syrian government including opposition figures, but his opponents responded on Wednesday that no administration would be legitimate while he remained in office.

Assad, bolstered by military victory in the desert city of Palmyra, was quoted by Russia's RIA news agency as saying a new draft constitution could be ready in weeks and a government that included opposition, independents and loyalists could be agreed.

While the distribution of portfolios and other technical issues would need to be discussed at Geneva peace talks, which resume next month, "these are not difficult questions", Assad said.

Opposition negotiators immediately dismissed Assad's remarks, saying that a political settlement could be reached only by establishing a transitional body with full powers, not another government under Assad.

"What Bashir al-Assad is talking about has no relation to the political process," said George Sabra of the High Negotiations Committee.

The United States also rejected Assad's comments.

"I don't know whether he envisioned himself being a part of that national unity government. Obviously that would be a nonstarter for us," White House front man Josh Earnest said.

Six killed in attack on Turkish vehicle in Mogadishu
MOGADISHU – At least six people including two Turkish teachers have been shot and killed and six others wounded in drive-by shooting in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu, witnesses said. Four Somali nationals were also among those killed in the attack, officials said.

In Wednesday’s attack has wounded at least five Turkish students and a Kenyan teacher whose vehicle has been sprayed bullets by gunmen in Mogadishu’s Hodan district, witnesses said. The wounded have been rushed to the hospitals in the capital for medical treatment.
Somalia has.... hospitals ?
It's a polite euphemism for 'morgue'.
The killers escaped from the shooting scene.
As if they were never there...
Hundreds of government soldiers arrived at the spot
"Which spot?"
"THAT spot!"
and launched manhunt but no arrests have been reported over the attack.

Turkish workers rarely targeted by gunmen, thought to be Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab militants based in Somalia. The Mogadishu’s defense hospital, seaport and Aden Adde International airport runs by Turkish agencies.

No group has claimed responsibility for the shooting but Al Shabaab carried out similar attacks in the past months.

Jakarta offers to help Manila in hostage rescue effort
[Gulf Today] Top Indonesian officials on Wednesday offered to send elite teams of soldiers and policemen to help their Philippine counterparts in the rescue operation of ten Indonesian crewmen of a vessel held hostage by the Abu Sayyaf in Mindanao.

However, Defense Minister Ryamizard pointed out their offer for help depends solely on its acceptance by the Philippine government. He said, "It is a foreign country. If we are not allowed to enter, then we cannot force it. If Manila is ready to settle it themselves, then we’ll wait but if they need our help then we should enter."

Ryamizard also emphasized that Indonesia would not give in to the rebels' demand for the payment of a $1 million ransom for the release of the hostages, the crewmen of an Indonesian-flagged boat taking coal from North Borneo to Manila.

Inspector General Anton Charliyan, the chief of the Indonesian National Police said they are ready to deploy the elite Densus 88 counter-terror squad and mobile brigade to participate in the rescue operation. He pointed out these elite units have been successful in several past hostage situations in Indonesia.

Indonesia's offer comes amid reports that authorities in Manila and Jakarta have been holding "high level consultations" that could include the participation of the Indonesian military and police forces in the rescue operation.

A reliable military source said the Indonesians were crew members of a tugboat which was sailing off the island province of Tawi-Tawi when several armed militants hijacked the vessel on Monday night. With a smaller vessel, the insurgents towed the tugboat which was later recovered along a coastal village.

The source said the hostages were now either in Sulu or neighboring Basilan.

The Grand Turk
Turkey ‘won’t fall out with US over PYD’
Turkey and the United States will not fall out over their differing stances on the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has said.
Just wait until Biden gets there...
“Not every two countries can be like-minded on every issue. For example, they [U.S.] think differently, we think differently, but we will not fall out because we have differing thoughts,” Çavuşoğlu told Voice of America on March 30, after lecturing at George Washington University.

“We are two significant partners and we have common targets but we can think differently on some topics. When we express our thoughts, then it is perceived as though there is a problem between the two countries,” he added.

Turkey’s relations with the U.S. have been strained due to their differing stances regarding the PYD and its military wing, the People’s Protection Units (YPG). The U.S. sees the two organizations as “reliable” and important partners in its fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in northern Syria and supplies them with military logistics. Turkey meanwhile says the PYD and YPG are terrorist organizations as they are the offshoots of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which the country has been in an armed conflict with since the mid-1980s.

“Why do we need to convince each other that we think differently; we have proof in our hand. We give [them] the documents and information that the PYD/YPG is no different than the PKK,” said Çavuşoğlu.

“Therefore, there is no deterioration in the relations between the U.S. and Turkey. On the contrary, our strategic partnership marks even more importance,” he said.

Çavuşoğlu also said U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry was planning to visit Turkey, without disclosing any details of a possible visit.

#4  obama is a temporary disease

A chronic disease is one lasting 3 months or more. Some folks might argue that the initial signs were somewhat earlier, but it would appear we've experience periodic recurrences since around 1933. I'm not referring to polio by the way.

Since it's been so very long ago, it might be instructive to note that the 'big givernment' SOB pictured here died in his 4th presidential term in 1945. Had he not died, he might STILL be president of the United States. The popularity of wealth redistribution, free stuff, and big giverment is well documented. The diseases of corruption and greed are inherently evil and appear to have no known cure.

Blasts and heavy gunfire heard in Libyan capital
Several loud explosions followed by heavy gunfire were heard over Tripoli in the early hours of Wednesday, a Reuters reporter said.

The cause of the firing was not immediately clear, but the Libyan capital has been on edge amid speculation that a U.N.-backed unity government was about to travel to Tripoli from Tunisia.

The self-declared government in Tripoli and some armed factions in the city oppose the unity government and have warned it not to move.

The Tripoli government was brought to power after armed brigades backing it won a battle for the capital in 2014. A rival government moved to eastern Libya.

The unity government is the result of a December deal to heal Libya's divisions and end its armed conflict, but the new government has faced opposition from hardliners in both the east and west of the country.

On Sunday and Monday Tripoli's airspace was closed for periods of several hours, a move that the unity government's Presidential Council said was designed to prevent it traveling into Libya.

Tripoli Prime Minister Khalifa Ghwell said in a statement late on Tuesday that the airspace had been closed to "protect the souls of the people following the Presidential Council's inappropriate behavior".

Foreign terrorists disguised as Taliban are fighting Afghan forces: Stanikzai
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The acting Minister of Defense Masoom Stanikzai has said that the foreign bandidos bully boys disguised as the Talibs are fighting the Afghan forces.

In his trip to the southern provinces, Stanikzai stopped in the restive Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
province to review the security situation of this province.

He said the ongoing violence in Afghanistan is not having internal links but is a major conspiracy led by the foreign forces of Evil who have turned the the Afghan soil into a fighting ground.

Stanikzai further added that his claims could be proved with the death of hundreds of foreign forces of Evil killed during the operations in Khanshin, Baramchi, Marjah and other parts of Helmand province.

Speaking during a gathering in 215th Corps of the Afghan army in Helmand, Stanikzai said the local residents and Afghan people are not prepared to remove the corpses of the gunnies killed in the mentioned districts.

Stanikzai stressed that the Afghan people are not fighting the Afghan forces but they are the foreign forces of Evil who are waging war and violence.

The acting defense minister also added that the security of the bordering regions should be strengthened in a bid to prevent the infiltration of foreign forces of Evil into the Afghan soil.

Olde Tyme Religion
Thanks To Extremism, Iraqis Revive Ancient Religion
[NIQASH.ORG] One of the smallest and oldest religions in the world is experiencing a revival in the semi-autonomous region of Iraqi Kurdistan. The religion has deep Kurdish roots -- it was founded by Zoroaster, also known as Zarathustra, who was born in the Kurdish part of Iran and the religion's sacred book, the Avesta, was written in an ancient language from which the Kurdish language derives. However this century it is estimated that there are only around 190,000 believers in the world - as Islam became the dominant religion in the region during the 7th century, Zoroastrianism more or less disappeared.

Until -- quite possibly -- now. For the first time in over a thousand years, locals in a rural part of Sulaymaniyah province conducted an ancient ceremony on May 1, whereby followers put on a special belt that signifies they are ready to serve the religion and observe its tenets. It would be akin to a baptism in the Christian faith.

The newly pledged Zoroastrians have said that they will organise similar ceremonies elsewhere in Iraqi Kurdistan and they have also asked permission to build up to 12 temples inside the region, which has its own borders, military and Parliament. Zoroastrians are also visiting government departments in Iraqi Kurdistan and they have asked that Zoroastrianism be acknowledged as a religion officially. They even have their own anthem and many locals are attending Zoroastrian events and responding to Zoroastrian organizations and pages on social media.

Canada Regrets Cutting Ties with Iran, Wants Re-engagement
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] Canada’s foreign minister said his country’s 2012 move to cut diplomatic ties with Iran has had no positive consequences whatsoever, expressing articulate willingness for re-engagement with the Islamic Theocratic Republic.

Canada"Canada’s severing of ties with Iran had no positive consequences for anyone: not for Canadians, not for the people of Iran, not for Israel, and not for global security," Stéphane Dion said on Tuesday while addressing an international conference at the University of Ottawa.

The administration of former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper severed diplomatic ties with Iran in September 2012, citing, among other pretexts, what it described as continued threats from Iran to Israel.

Britain
Farewell, George Galloway
[BLOGS.SPECTATOR.CO.UK] It takes an achingly long time for the British to see a lickspittle of mass murderers for what he is. For years, you jump up and down shouting ‘look at what he’s done!’ All but a handful ignore you. But he’s a character, the rest cry. He’s not like those poll-driven, focus-group--tested on-message politicians, who speak in soundbites. He is passionate about his beliefs.

So he is, you reply, and that’s the problem. Since the marches against the Iraq war of 2003, I have written against George Galloway
... a British national embarrassment, not particularly honest, more fond of dictators and terrorists than he is of his native countrymen except at the peak of the election cycle ...
. He has supported Baathist regimes it is fair to describe as fascist: Saddam Hussein’s Sunni Arab dictatorship in Iraq after it had gassed the Kurdish ethnic minority, and Bashir al-Assad‘s Shia Arab dictatorship as his terror provoked revolution.

Cleric on watch list leads protesters in Islamabad
[DAWN] GUJRAT: One of the main leaders of protesters at Islamabad’s D-Chowk has been on the Fourth Schedule of Anti-Terrorism Act for over a year, yet he made his way to the capital unhindered.

The government’s alleged leniency towards Pir Muhammad Afzal Qadri, the chief of Aalmi Tanzeem Ahle Sunnat, over the years has often put the authorities in a tough situation. Even when he was en route to participate in the chehlum of assassin Mumtaz Qadri local law enforcement authorities did not stop him from marching on Islamabad along with his outfit’s activists.

Sources in the district government and police said there were no particular directions issued by the provincial government regarding Qadri and his group’s plans to participate in the chehlum in Rawalpindi. This was why local authorities did not stop him, they added.

They further said around two months ago authorities had besieged Qadri’s residence and seminary in Mararrian village and stopped him from marching on Lahore to allegedly press the government against executing Mumtaz Qadri.

Talking to Dawn, a senior police official claimed at the time of besieging the seminary and house, police were about to arrest Qadri but provincial authorities ordered them against it at the eleventh hour citing the holy man’s poor health.

Meanwhile,

some Afzal Qadri’s followers and supporters blocked GT Road at Lalamusa on Tuesday evening to press the government to enter into a dialogue with protest leaders in Islamabad’s D Chowk.

Gujrat DCO and DPO reached the site to persuade the protesters to lift the blockade.

US Should Look to Popular Mobilization Units as Official Power: Commander
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] The head of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization forces (PMF), Hadi al-Ameri said that the powerful group will have major role in liberating djinn-infested Mosul

In an interview with Financial Times, Ameri said that the "United States should look to the Popular Mobilization units (also known as Hash Saabi) as an official power."

Meanwhile,

Ameri said the PMF will not enter Mosul but will work on a strategy to isolate the city in a bid to help the Iraqi army from getting into the city which is controlled by Takfiri group, ISIL.

Ameri, who leads Badr group (which is part of the PMF), said that the "European states and US don’t trust the PMF because they are Shia," noting that "they consider ISIL holy warriors ‘fighters’ while they describe PMF fighters ‘militia’."

India pours scorn on ‘tutored’ spy video
[DAWN] India poured scorn on the video confessions of an alleged spy shown by Pakistain on Tuesday, claiming the man was tutored and that he might have been kidnapped from Iran.

"We have seen a video released by Pak authorities of a former Indian naval officer, doing business in Iran, who is in Pak custody under unexplained circumstances," the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.

It said the individual’s televised statements had no basis in fact. "That the individual claims to make the statements of his own free will not only challenges credulity but clearly indicates tutoring."

The Indian statement stressed that despite New Delhi’s request, Indian consular officials were not allowed to meet him.

"We have not been given consular access to an Indian national under detention in a foreign country, as is the accepted international practice. We are naturally concerned about his wellbeing in these circumstances." The comment appeared to deny the man was a spy, underscoring he was an ordinary citizen eligible for consular help.

"Government categorically rejects allegations that this individual was involved in subversive activities in Pakistain at our behest. Our enquiries reveal that he apparently was being harassed while operating a legitimate business from Iran," the statement said.

"While we probe this aspect further, his presence now in Pakistain raises questions, including the possibility of his abduction from Iran. This would become clear only if we are given consular access to him and we urge the Government of Pakistain to respond immediately to our request."

Daesh threat raises stakes for US nuclear summit
[Gulf News] The spectre of the Daesh [Islamic State] group obtaining a "dirty bomb" will loom over a top-level nuclear security summit hosted by President Barack Obama
I've now been in 57 states -- I think one left to go...
in Washington on Thursday and Friday.

Obama welcomes several leaders from countries as diverse as China and Nigeria, as well as representatives from nearly 50 other nations, for the summit aimed at elevating the problem of shaky safeguards from the desks of technocrats to the highest corridors of power.

The meeting comes just days after 32 people were killed and 340 were maimed in bombings at Brussels airport and the Belgian capital’s metro.

The attacks featured conventional explosives, but two of the jacket wallahs -- Ibrahim and Khalid El Bakraoui -- have been linked to possible efforts by the Daesh [Islamic State] group to secure fissile material.

Late last year, Belgian police investigating the November 13 Gay Paree terror attacks found 10 hours of video surveillance detailing the comings and goings of a senior Belgian nuclear official.

Belgian media have since reported that the brothers were linked to the surveillance.

The incident has only heightened existing concerns about Daesh [Islamic State] efforts to get nuclear material.

"Having a portion of the discussion that is focused on counter-ISIL [counter-Daesh [Islamic State]] is a decision that was made in January," said Laura Holgate, the National Security Council’s senior director for weapons of mass destruction, terrorism and threat reduction. "But it turns out that it is obviously very timely, unfortunately.

"The video footage is of concern," she said, adding, with regard to the Belgian case, that the United States does not "have any information that a broader plot exists."

But groups like Daesh [Islamic State] have long shown their interest in obtaining nuclear material.

"We’ve seen over the years that different terrorist organizations have ambitions related to acquiring nuclear materials," said Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes.

"We’ve seen that in their public statements, we’ve seen that in some cases in their monitoring of nuclear facilities," he added.

"That’s why the summit process is so important, because different countries have different levels of security at their facilities or in terms of how they are handling nuclear materials."

The suspected gunnies were identified as Khan Wahid of Beautiful Downtown Peshawar

Questions linger over the Apple - FBI case.
[The Hill] The Justice Department’s hacking of an iPhone used by one of the San Bernardino terrorists without Apple's help is raising more questions about the bitter fight between the government and tech giant.

The DOJ on Tuesday said it had accessed the phone and dropped a case against Apple that sought to force the company to help unlock the device. But the fight over encrypted communications is far from over.

Here are five lingering questions:
Watayawannabet.... DoJ and Apple made a high stakes, out o'court clandestine deal. Face saver for DoJ and the Feds, big bucks for Apple, swell stories for the media, whilst the taxpayer picks up the tab?

KE will carry out loadshedding this year also, SHC told
[DAWN] KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Tuesday was informed by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority that K-Electric would have no option in 2016 but to carry out loadshedding as only 350 megawatts had been added to its supply capacity instead of 1,000MW.

Headed by Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, a two-judge bench was hearing a set of constitutional petitions against the unprecedented loss of life caused by the 2015 heatwave coupled with power cuts.

In its comments, Nepra disputed the KE claim of having added 1,037MW to its system and stated that only 350MW was effectively added after decommissioning and permanent closure of certain plants.

The court was informed that the power utility was able to maintain its system in the garb of a loadshedding policy.
