-Signs, Portents, and the Weather-
Climate forecasts may be flawed
MAY!?!?!
Predictions of unprecedented rainfall extremes in the 20th century driven by global warming turned out wrong, a study said Wednesday, casting doubt on methods used to project future trends.

A massive trawl of Northern Hemisphere rainfall data for the last 1,200 years revealed there had been more dramatic wet-dry weather extremes in earlier, cooler centuries before humans set off fossil fuel-driven global warming.
Still gotta be human's fault somehow. Otherwise the grant money runs out.
This is problematic, said a study in the journal Nature, as the same data models used to anticipate that global warming would cause record rainfall extremes in the 1900s, are the basis for projections of things to come.

"It might be more difficult than often assumed to project into the future," the study's lead author Fredrik Ljungqvist of Stockholm University told AFP of the findings.

"The truth can be much, much more complicated."
Welcome to entropy based systems, asshole.
The UN's climate science panel, the consensus authority,
*snicker*
contends that dry areas will become ever drier and wet ones wetter as the global temperature rises in response to greenhouse gas emissions.

But the new work said sky-high temperatures in the 20th century did not directly translate into record extremes between wet and dry weather, as many had expected.

This meant that "much of the change is not only driven by temperature, but some internal, more random variability," explained Ljungqvist.
If that is the case, I hear your funding drying up
"It's therefore very, very hard also to predict (precipitation extremes) with models."

Over the study period, drought was most severe during the 12th century, which was a warm one, and the 15th which was cold, said the scientist.
Actually heat and cold can lock up water vapor and prevent rain so how is this fucking news to these donkey fluffers?
For the study, a team of experts in history, climate, geology and mathematics, compiled drought and rainfall data for Europe, North Asia and North America, and reconstructed 12 centuries worth of "water history".
Better go farther back to when the Sahara was wet and try to work out why it dried up first
They considered geologically preserved evidence of stream flow, lake levels, marine and lake sediments, tree rings and historical records.

The team's reconstruction for the 20th century differed vastly from climate models which had suggested wet areas should have been wetter, and dry ones drier, than ever before.

"In the past, on a longer timescale, there have been even larger variabilities," said Ljungqvist.

This divergence "certainly adds fuel to the fiery debate" on the link between warming and rainfall extremes, Matthew Kirby of California State University's Department of Geological Sciences wrote in a comment published by Nature.

"Do their results invalidate current predictive models? Certainly not. But they do highlight a big challenge for climate modellers, and present major research opportunities both for modellers and climate scientists..."
No no! Don't mind the data. We are still right!!! We'll fake something then build a nice graph off it to make people afraid! The media will help!
James Renwick of the Victoria University of Wellington said the predicted wet and dry extremes are "very likely" to materialise in the 21st, century.
Hope in one hand and shit in the other and see what fills up first.
Extreme drought and downpours are among many risks that scientists warn about in a warmer world. Others include land-gobbling sea level rise, crop and water shortages, disease spread and wars over dwindling resources.

In December, the nations of the world signed a pact to limit average global warming to no more than two degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit) over pre-Industrial Revolution levels, when the fossil fuel burning began.

Research suggests we may already have reached 1 C.
They are right. We are still doomed. All is lost unless you repent and give up your carbon sins and keep up the funding for their "research".

Fuck off assholes. I'm sick of your shit

China-Japan-Koreas
Did Trigger-Happy North Korea Take a Shot at China?
On March 29, North Korea launched a projectile from a location near the port city of Wonsan. The ballistic missile or artillery shell traveled about 125 miles on a northeast path, in other words, toward China, landing near the border.

South Korean Defense Ministry analysts speculate that the North originally planned to fire the projectile out to sea but changed plans and pointed it inland instead due to last-minute problems. That seems highly unlikely, however, because if there were indeed problems they would not risk firing into China.

The NightWatch site maintains that the trajectory was intentional as well as "unprecedented." In all probability, the North Koreans meant to send a hostile message to Beijing.
As in, "we don't need your oil, food, money and diplomatic cover anymore!"?
Relations between the People's Republic of China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea seem to deteriorate by the week.
That warms the deepest cockles of my heart...
They are each other's only treaty ally, but in recent years ties have evidently eroded. Now, the bilateral relationship has become, in my view, the most fascinating one in the world to watch.

There are those who believe that Beijing and Pyongyang are actually staging a drama for the benefit of outside observers, engaging in "kabuki," in other words, maintaining an elaborate deception and denial campaign.
"Those" include me...
That could have been true in the early part of last decade, especially during the first and middle stages of the Six-Party "denuclearization" talks, which began in 2003.

At this moment, however, the tension between the two states seems real.
Not sure that is true but would be very pleased if so...
Both regimes are in turmoil, each led by a leader unable to consolidate his position after formally taking power. From all indications, the two capitals seldom talk to each other.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Champ Regime Helping Iran Access Billions in Frozen Funds
[Free Beacon] The Obama administration is helping Iran access billions of dollars in funds that are tied up in international banks across the globe by rewriting regulations and other measures, according to testimony Tuesday by a top U.S. official, who admitted that these assets could be used to fund terrorism.
It's almost as if Champ and Jahwn want something to happen...
The United States has been engaged in an effort to ease longstanding financial restrictions on Iran and has taken steps to aid the Islamic republic as it seeks to access billions of dollars in frozen assets, some of which could be used to fund the country’s global terrorist enterprise, a top State Department official testified to Congress.
Brokerage fees ?
The disclosure of this effort comes amid reports that the Obama administration is pursuing a plan that would grant Iran unprecedented access to the U.S. dollar and American financial markets, a move the administration had vowed would not take place under the comprehensive nuclear agreement.

Thomas Shannon, the State Department’s undersecretary for political affairs, informed lawmakers that efforts to aid Iran’s access to funds includes direct engagement from the Obama administration.

"There will be instances in which we need to help Iran access that money by rewriting clarifying the regulations under which money can be transferred to them," Shannon said under questioning from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Not Iranian. African-American red diaper baby whose father took the family to Iran as an act of doctoring the world. After five years or so he returned them to the Black Communist circle in Chicago, where young Valerie grew up very, very connected. Hence her appeal to the young Barry Obama, who desperately wanted in.

Jarrett was born in Shiraz, Iran, to American parents James E. Bowman and Barbara Taylor Bowman. One of her maternal great-grandfathers, Robert Robinson Taylor, was an architect who was the first accredited African American architect, and the first African-American student enrolled at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.[4]

Her father, a pathologist and geneticist, ran a hospital for children in Shiraz in 1956 as part of a program where American physicians and agricultural experts sought to help developing countries' health and farming efforts. When she was five years old, the family moved to London for a year, later moving to Chicago in 1963

Sid Blumenthal's Anti-Israel Son Praises Hamas Attack On Israeli Soldiers
[Daily Caller] Max Blumenthal, the anti-Israel son of longtime Clinton friend Sidney Blumenthal, recently praised the military wing of the terrorist group Hamas for a 2014 attack that killed five Israeli soldiers.

In undercover recordings published Sunday by The (U.K.) Telegraph, Blumenthal, an activist and writer, is heard praising an "incredible" 2014 massacre carried out by "commandos" with Hamas’s al-Qassam Brigades against Israeli soldiers stationed at a kibbutz and army base called Nahal Oz.
Quote from the Telegraph below:
One speaker, Max Blumenthal, the son of a close bagman adviser to Bill and Hillary Clinton, praised a massacre by Hamas as sending an "incredible message" and said that taking up arms should be "normal" for Palestinians. He compared Israel to the terrorist group Isil, describing it as "the Jewish State of Israel and the Levant, Jsil".

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The U.S. judge who oversaw the now-abandoned lawsuit against the federal government over leaks in the investigation that led to the resignation of former CIA director David Petraeus is giving the Justice Department until Friday to ask her to keep secret any court documents that were part of the case.

The files include transcripts of sworn interviews with senior Obama administration officials about the sex scandal and its fallout.

Why the Hildebeest will not get elected
[NewsWithViews.com] Media attention focuses on the internecine battle to gain control of the Republican Party’s nominating convention, to the neglect of a far greater story affecting the Democratic Party’s nomination of a presidential candidate. That media coverage is a form of tunnel vision, because it is virtually certain that the Democratic Party will experience an implosion this election cycle, while it is but a possibility that a floor fight will occur at the Republican National Convention.

The FBI is trying to schedule interviews with Hillary Clinton and her top aides, as the probe into Hillary et al.’s violations of the Espionage Act and the public corruption laws reaches its zenith. Based solely on the information publicly revealed to date, the evidence of unlawful conduct is overwhelming. It is hard to imagine either FBI Director James Comey or Attorney General Loretta Lynch not proceeding with a bill for indictment before a federal grand jury within the next several months. The Democratic National Convention will take place July 25 to 28. The issue is increasingly not whether Hillary and her top aides will be indicted but when. Will it occur before she gets her party’s nomination or after?

With over 150 FBI agents completing their evaluation of Clinton’s emails and of the association between her actions as Secretary of State and the receipt of foreign funds by the Clinton Foundation, it is likely that recommendations for the indictment of Clinton and her aides will soon be given by the FBI to the Attorney General. Interviews with those who are the targets of the investigation, including Clinton and her aides, is a necessary prelude to completion of that investigation. In those interviews, Hillary Clinton will be obliged to tell the truth and avoid withholding material information or face additional charges of false statements. She must either take the Fifth or answer, so too must her aides. If she answers in a way consistent with her public pronouncements, she will violate the False Statements Act and that crime will be added to the list of crimes for which she can be indicted.

Europe
Germany: 3 charged over valve deliveries to Iran
[IsraelTimes] German prosecutors say they’ve indicted three men for allegedly delivering valves to Iran for a company that was once responsible for building the country’s Arak heavy-water reactor.

Federal prosecutors say Tuesday that the three German citizens -- identified only as Bernd L., Rene L. and Ralf C. in line with German privacy rules -- were charged with violating export laws and attempting to violate weapons-control laws.

They say the men delivered 51 valves to Iran in two batches, in 2010 and 2011, part of a larger order worth some 1 million euros ($1.14 million). Two of them are accused of giving the wrong customer name to get around export controls.

Prosecutors say any deliveries to the actual customer, which wasn’t named, were banned at the time under sanctions.

FBI Says a Mysterious Hacking Group Has Had Access to US Govt Files for Years
The feds warned that "a group of malicious cyber actors," whom security experts believe to be the government-sponsored hacking group known as APT6, "have compromised and stolen sensitive information from various government and commercial networks" since at least 2011, according to an FBI alert obtained by Motherboard.

The alert, which is also available online, shows that foreign government hackers are still successfully hacking and stealing data from US government's servers, their activities going unnoticed for years. This comes months after the US government revealed that a group of hackers, widely believed to be working for the Chinese government, had for more than a year infiltrated the computer systems of the Office of Personnel Management, or OPM. In the process, they stole highly sensitive data about several millions of government workers and even spies.

N.Korea Demands Talks as Sanctions Bite
North Korea on Monday called for talks with the U.S. a month after the UN Security Council enforced tougher sanctions against the North following its latest nuclear test.

A spokesman for the powerful National Defense Commission complained of "unilateral sanctions" but added "preparing steps for negotiations" is a more fundamental solution than military pressure. The spokesman said "a war of aggression" against the North "to stifle it militarily created the worst crisis in which it may make a retaliatory nuclear strike at the U.S. mainland any moment."
Hell no.
The Choson Sinbo, a pro-Pyongyang mouthpiece in Japan, also urged Washington to negotiate with Pyongyang in order to "avoid the crisis of war and destruction."
For whom?
The North added that it has grown used to sanctions and claimed the sanctions strengthened its self-reliance.
Then why are you complaining?
But there was a hint that the sanctions are biting. The commission likened them to the siege of Leningrad by Nazi Germany during World War II and added the "evil hand" of sanctions stretched deep into all corners of North Korea.

Pundits said the call for talks demonstrates the concrete impact the latest sanctions are having.

Singaporean media cited data that the North's exports dropped following the latest UN sanctions, which had a direct impact on its economy. China has apparently enforced tougher border checks on imports of North Korean minerals and coal shipments.

"It's impossible for China to enforce crackdowns along the whole 1,400 km border with North Korea, but Beijing does appear to be applying increased pressure against the North in financial and other dealings," a source said.

At the nuclear security summit in Washington last week, Chinese President Xi Jinping promised President Park Geun-hye and U.S. President Barack Obama "sweeping" sanctions against North Korea.

Pyongyang's latest threats, experts say, appear to be a last-ditch effort to intimidate the international community in order to create divisions between them ahead of a massive Workers Party congress in May.

A senior government official here said, "At a time when China is mentioning the need for both sanctions and negotiations, North Korea is attempting to foment divisions among the international community by raising the negotiating card."

But South Korea's Defense Ministry rejected North Korea's call for talks. "Now is the time to focus on implementing sanctions over North Korea's reckless behavior," said ministry spokesman Moon Sang-gyun.

ISIS reports gains near key airbase in Syria’s Damascus
[ARA News] DAMASCUS – Subsequent to clashes with the Syrian regime army forces, militant fighters of the Islamic State (ISIS) have reportedly seized control of several key positions in the eastern and northeastern suburbs of Syria’s capital Damascus, local media sources reported on Tuesday.

The ISIS militant fighters launched Tuesday a fierce offensive on positions for the Syrian army in the Qalmoun region, east and northeast of the capital Damascus.

“Islamic State fighters seized control the ‘559 battalion’, an army base and a nearby strategic checkpoint, in addition to the cement plant in eastern Qalamoun,” ISIS-linked Amaq agency reported.

The source stressed that the militant group caused the regime’s forces heavy losses in manpower and equipment.

“The [ISIS] fighters also seized a number of weapons and a large deal of ammunition subsequent to the operation, including a cannon [caliber 57], a machine gun [caliber 12.5], a machine gun 23 and the base of thermal rockets as well as a T-62 tank,” it added.

Speaking to ARA News in Damascus, local media activist Waseem al-Abdo confirmed that with their control over those strategic areas, the jihadi group has been so close to the regime-held Seen and Dumair airbases in eastern Qalamoun near the Syrian capital Damascus.

“Fierce clashes are ongoing between ISIS and pro-Assad forces on the outskirts of the key regiment 16,” al-Abdo reported.

“ISIS tried to storm the regiment south of the Dumair city, but it was forced to retreat after receiving painful blows by the pro-regime,” al-Abdo told ARA News, citing sources close to the regime’s army.

Also Tuesday, Russian warplanes conducted several raids on the ISIS’s tactical units in the vicinity of the Seen airbase and the industrial zone (Hisia). ISIS seeks to impose a blockade on the regime’s military locations near Damascus, according to local sources.

ARA News could not verify the death toll among ISIS jihadis in Tuesday’s airstrikes.

In a related development, the leadership of the Syrian army has sent additional reinforcements to the eastern Qalamoun area for fear of a possible expansion by ISIS in the region, sources close to the Syrian army told ARA News, preferring anonymity.

The ISIS hardline group has been waging a military campaign targeting the Syrian regime-held airbases, including the Seen and Dumair military airports in eastern Qalamoun in addition to the Deir ez-Zor military airbaseــwhich has been under blockade for several months by the group.

U.S. firm to de-mine Iraqi city of Ramadi retaken from Islamic State
"Hey Ma, I'm going to have a lu-cra-tive career! Now when I go to Europe it'll be because they hired me -- ain't that great, Ma!"
[Ynet] A U.S. de-mining company is removing explosives and training Iraqis to dismantle the devices planted by Islamic State in the largest Iraqi city retaken from the militants, a diplomat and two U.S. officials said on Monday.

Hundreds of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted throughout the streets and buildings of Ramadi, 100 km (60 miles) west of Baghdad, have delayed the return of around half a million displaced residents since the Iraqi military backed by U.S. air strikes recaptured the city three months ago.

Nusra Front captures pilot from downed Syrian jet
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Syria Lions of Islam shot down a warplane on Tuesday in an area south of the city of Aleppo where snuffies are battling the Syrian army and allied militias, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The monitor said a plume of smoke was seen as the plane caught fire before it fell in the Talat al-Iss highland, where al Qaeda-affiliated Lions of Islam have come under heavy bombardment by Syrian and Russian planes since they captured the area this week.

Syrian state TV confirmed that the jet was shot down by a surface-to-air missile in Aleppo province and the pilot ejected.

However according to the monitor and a krazed killer source said that the pilot of downed plane has been taken by al-Qaeda affiliated al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli sh-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
front to one of its headquarters.

Videos downloaded on social media also showed footage of the plane and pictures of the wreckage of a burnt plane surrounded by rebels.

Militants last downed a Syrian jet in the western province of Hama on March 12. Then they also denied a Russian Defense Ministry report they had used an anti-aircraft missile. The Observatory said on that occasion a krazed killer group had used two heat-seeking missiles.

Ahmed al-Seoud, the head of a Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
rebel group operating in northwestern Syria, said on Tuesday: "Not one faction in the opposition has surface-to-air missiles."

A former rebel commander and army defector, Brigadier General Ahmad Rahal, said he had information that the warplane in Aleppo was brought down by artillery fire.

"The Syrian air force planes are old and so after a certain mileage they need overhaul and are forced to fly at very low altitudes. They risk getting hit" by gunfire, he told Rooters.

Missiles could hit jets flying at a higher altitudes and with greater accuracy.

A Syrian military source said the incident was "a dangerous indication of the weapons the bully boyz are obtaining".

Tripoli authorities cede power to Libyan unity government
[Iran Press TV] Libya’s self-declared government in the capital Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
has announced that it has ceded power to a UN-backed unity government in an attempt to prevent further sectarian festivities and end political chaos in the strife-torn country.

"We inform you that we are ceasing the activities entrusted to us as an executive power," said a statement released by the unrecognized National Salvation government on Tuesday, adding that the Tripoli authorities were "no longer responsible... for what could happen in the future."

The statement further said that the authorities made the decision to hand over the power because they were determined to "preserve the higher interests of the country and prevent bloodshed and divisions" in the North African country.

The development came almost a week after unity government Prime Minister-designate Fayez al-Sarraj along with several members of his cabinet arrived from Tunisia at Tripoli’s Abusita naval base by boat amid threats from rival factions, which prevented him from arriving by air.

Earlier, however, the so-called General National Congress (GNC) in Tripoli, had branded their entry into the city illegal and demanded that Sarraj either leave or surrender.

IRGC Commander Underlines Iran's Continued Policies Irrespective of Obama Call for Change
Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari blasted the US officials for their interfering remarks against Iran's missile program, and stressed that Tehran will continue its past policies irrespective of Washington's excessive demands.

"It is now years that we increased our power with the assumption of massive war against the US and its allies and expanded all our capacities and capabilities to attain firm victory against such enemies," Jafari said, addressing the IRGC commanders in Tehran on Tuesday.

He underscored Iran's firm decision to continue the path of progress and advancement, and said, "Our missiles which have become more precise and destructive will multiply more than ever."
Now they have the money. The sanctions are gone and they won't be coming back. Now they can tell Champ, and Jahwn, and Hilarity to go screw, and there's nothing we can do about it. At least until January...
General Jafari also referred to the IRGC's policy towards certain Persian Gulf Arab states which show animosity towards Iran, and said, "The IRGC has earned the necessary preparations through planning and is waiting for an order to respond to the impudence and stupid behavior of regimes like Saudi Arabia and Bahrain and others which are the symbol of modern political backwardness, and whose behavior is the result of their reliance on the US power."

He also reiterated Iran's firm support for the Syrian government, the Hezbollah resistance movement and the Palestinian and Yemeni nations, stressing that the country will not allow disintegration of the Muslims states as envisaged by the British-US-Israeli strategy.

In relevant remarks today, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Hassan Firouzabadi blasted US President Barack Obama for his remarks against Tehran's implementation of the nuclear deal, and said he is raising excessive demands.

"We studied the details of the nuclear agreement and didn’t see anything but its text and don’t have any information about its spirit," Firouzabadi said, addressing the Chief of Staff's commanders and officials in Tehran on Tuesday, following the US president's call on Tehran to work on the spirit of the July nuclear deal.

"Therefore, the US arrogant expectations and excessive demands are ungrounded and unacceptable and no one in the Islamic Republic of Iran cares about them," he added.

Also on Tuesday, Iranian Government Spokesman Mohammad Baqer Nobakht said after the implementation of the nuclear deal, the US wrongly imagined that Iran would modify all its policies in line with the deal.

"But we have specified policies in our country and the government has just been allowed to obviate ambiguities with regard to the nuclear issues," he added.

Obama on Friday criticized Iranian leaders for what he called as undermining the “spirit” of last year’s historic nuclear agreement, even as they stick to the “letter” of the pact.

In comments following the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington, Obama, meantime, denied speculation that the United States would ease rules preventing dollars from being used in financial transactions with Iran, in order to boost the country’s engagement with the rest of the world.

Iran's Supreme Leader had earlier accused the US of hindering and troubling implementation of the nuclear deal, saying Washington has endorsed the removal of the sanctions against Iran, but intimidates and threatens the European banks not to launch interactions with Tehran.

for sexually abusing a teenage boy in swimming pool in Germany, a similar incident which took place last year in Austria involving an Iraqi asylum seeker.

The two convicts arrested in alleged sexual abuse case are in their 20s with the victim reported to be 14-year-old.

Both the convicts were brought before a judge in Paderborn on Saturday after the alleged incident that took place at an indoor pool in Delbruck, North Rhine-Westphalia, on Friday afternoon.

According to the reports, the 14-year-old boy was forced by the two asylum seekers to perform sexual acts after he was caught in the changing room.

A similar incident was reported in Austria last year after a 10-year-old child was admitted to hospital with severe injuries following a sexual assault by an Iraqi asylum seeker.

The incident took place in a public swimming pool in Vienna, the capital city of Austria late in the month of December last year.

According to local media reports, a 20-year-old Iraqi refugee dragged the boy into the changing rooms on 22 December, pulling down his swimming trunks and assaulting him.

The man was arrested after police was informed regarding the incident that resulted to severe injuries to the child was then admitted to the hospital for the treatment.

The man told police the attack was the result of a "sexual emergency" as he had not had sex in four months, according to the local newspapers.

Gulbuddin Hekmatyar has changed his conditions for peace process
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The leader of Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin Hekmatyar
... who used to be known in intelligence circles as The Most Evil Man in the World but who now seems merely run-of-the-mill evil...
has reportedly changed his his conditions for grinding of the peace processor with the Afghan government by stepping back from his demands for the complete withdrawal of foreign forces, it has been reported.

An official of Hezb-e-Islami Amin Karim has told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that Hekmatyar is no longer demanding that all foreign troops leave Afghanistan.

This comes as Hekmatyar earlier demanded for the complete withdrawal of the foreign forces from Afghanistan in a bid to pave the way for peace talks, a similar demand the Taliban group is sticking to.

Hekmatyar has said the "departure of foreign troops is not a condition, it is a goal," according to his party official Karim.

The latest remark by Hezb-e-Islami official comes as the representatives of the party said last week that there will be no compromise on women’s rights if two sides agreed to strike a deal.

Earlier, it was reported that the party is seeking to become a government partner by seeking positions in civil and security institutions.

Some Morale Issues for Hezbollah
Low-level members of Hezbollah are growing increasingly frustrated with the Iran-backed terrorist militia, with many saying that they just want to be paid so they can go home.
Your boss agreed to work with his boss. That's why you're a gunny and he's the boss. What part of that did you miss when you signed up to be a hard boy?
Hanin Ghaddar, the managing editor of the Lebanese news website NOW, came to this conclusion after interviewing...Hezbollah's appeal, Ghaddar wrote...

Hezbollah fighters who talked to me did not show the motivation or passion that I used to see in young men's eyes when I lived in the South [of Lebanon]. These eyes were empty, anxious and very tired.
given the losses Hezbollah has suffered in Syria, it's remarkable that they still are as effective as they are -- perhaps the discipline of the Iran troops is holding them together

Afghan militants still armed and financed on other side of border: Sediqi
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Afghan anti-government armed turban groups are still receiving support as they use safe havens on the other side of border.

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) front man Sediq Sediqi told news hounds in Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
that the murderous Moslems still receive financial support and are being equipped outside the country.

Sediqi further added that the murderous Moslems continue to their insurgency activities using the safe havens located on the other side of the border.

He did not elaborate further regarding the safe havens of the Afghan murderous Moslems located outside the country but the Afghan officials have long been criticizing Pakistain for allowing the Afghan murderous Moslems to use their soil for planning and coordinating attacks in Afghanistan.

The Taliban group’s council based in Quetta as well as the notorious Haqqani terrorist network are believed to have shelters in Pakistain.

Meanwhile,
...back at the alley, Bugs Moroni was holding Slats from behind while his brother Greasy Thumb was pounding his face into paste ...
Sediqi said the Afghan forces will continue to suppress the anti-government armed murderous Moslems with improved capabilities, including the close-air support capability.

The Afghan Air Force has several A-29 Super Tucano light attack aircraft and MD-530 warrior helicopters from the United States which are expected to start operations soon.

Afghanistan also received 3 Mi-25 gunship helicopters from India late last year as part of India’s support to bolster the capabilities of the Afghan Air Force amid deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan
13 Afghan soldiers martyred amid surging violence in past 24 hours
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] At least 13 Afghan soldiers bit the dust during the counter-terrorism operations being conducted across the country amid surging violence.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the soldiers were martyred in the past 24 hours as they were suppressing the anti-government armed Death Eaters.

According to a statement by MoD at least 30 bully boyz were killed and 11 others were maimed as a result of the clearance operations in the past 24 hours.

The statement further added that the operations were conducted in Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
, Uruzgan, Kunduz, Paktia and Ghazni provinces.

There has been a sharp rise in the casualties of the Afghan national security forces since they took full control of the security responsibilities from the coalition forces at the start of last year.

According to the earlier estimates by security officials, the Afghan army deaths stood at 4 service members daily on average which is mainly caused due to improvised bomb (IED) attacks.

The Afghan forces have increased counter-terrorism operations to suppress the anti-government armed Death Eater groups who are preparing to step up attacks as the weather gets warms.

The officials are concerned that the bully boyz will continue pursuing violence despite efforts by the government and its international allies to end the violence through reconciliation process.

Iraq
ISIS arrests Fallujah woman who revealed group’s atrocities
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] ISIS has jugged
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
a woman in the Iraqi city of Fallujah after she revealed atrocities committed by the group in a video aired on Al Arabiya News Channel and its sister station al-Hadath.

"People are dying because of hunger, there is no medicine, no food, we have no more options left," she said in the video, appearing breathless, adding "Allah is my refuge."

The city of Fallujah,
... the City of Mosques, which might have somthing to do with why it's not called Center of Prosperity or a really nice place to raise your kids...
located around 70 kilometers from the capital Baghdad, is currently controlled by ISIS. It has been under siege from Popular Mobilization forces and Iraqi army forces for two years.

ISIS views most of the city’s residents as enemies, and it has deprived them of their most basic rights, limiting their access to food and medicine ‐ a situation made worse by the ongoing siege.

The residents of Fallujah suffer from many diseases due to malnutrition and lack of medical supplies.

Al-Hadath reported on Tuesday that seven people had died, all of them women and kiddies, due to the combination of barrel bombings, hunger and shortage of medicine.

Al Arabiya’s correspondent cited a medic reporting that Fallujah’s hospital received three women maimed from barrel bombings and two slain children.

Meanwhile,
...back at the pond, the radioactive tadpoles grown into frogs. Really big frogs, in fact...
five other children were killed due to a medicine shortage.

Militant killed in Pulwama, 4 trapped in Kupwara
[Daily Excelsior] A Hizbul Mujahideen Lion of Islam was killed in a shootout that raged at Gudoora village of South Kashmire’s Pulwama district this afternoon while 10 persons have been injured in stone-throwing festivities in the area and four Death Eaters of Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
(LeT) have been trapped by security forces in North Kashmire’s Dardpora forests.

The shootout started after Army’s 55 RR, Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmire Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cordoned off Gudoora village following specific information about the presence of 2-3 Death Eaters in the area.

Militants opened fire on security forces during cordon and search operation leading to a shootout which lasted for several hours. One local Lion of Islam of Hizbul Mujahideen identified as Bilal Ahmad Bhat of Kareemabad Pulwama was killed in the shootout.

Security forces have suspended the operation for the night but sources said that the two other Death Eaters managed to escape during initial firing. They have intensified the cordon as they believed that at least one Lion of Islam was still hiding in the village.

To help Death Eaters from fleeing the cordon, hundreds of people clashed with security forces near encounter spot and other areas in Gudoora during the operation. People tried to march towards the encounter spot in order to facilitate fleeing of trapped Lion of Islams.

However,
there's no worse danger than telling a mother her baby is ugly...
the additional contingents of police and CRPF intercepted them triggering festivities. Protesters also clashed with security forces at Kakapora, Kareemabad and Murran Chowk in which 10 persons were maimed.

In the meantime, four Death Eaters of Lashkar-e-Taiba have been trapped by security forces in Dardpora forest area of Lolab in North Kashmire’s Kupwara district.

Army’s 28 RR and police cordoned off forest area near Jindyal hamlet in Dardpora area of Loalab in Kupwara this afternoon. Militants opened fire on the security forces but managed to escape. More troops were rushed and they have been trapped in dense forest area.

A live hand grenade was found near a nullah in Kralpora area of Kupwara district, which was later defused by Bomb Disposal Squad.

Police said that a police party noticed the suspected device in Kralpora area this morning. The BDS team was immediately informed about the device following which a team was dispatched to the spot. The grenade was recovered and defused.

Syrian rebels massacre Kurds in Aleppo, 70+ die
[ARA News] ERBIL – Dozens of civilians, including women and children, were killed on Tuesday in attacks by Arab rebel groups on a Kurdish neighborhood in Syria’s northern Aleppo city, officials and activists told ARA News.

The Kurdish neighborhood of Sheikh Mqsoud in Aleppo –held by fighters of the People’s Protection Units (YPG)– was exposed to heavy shelling by Islamist rebels on Tuesday.

At least 70 civilians were reported dead in the bombardment of Sheikh Maqsoud.

“The situation in Sheikh Maqsoud is very bad, the attacks of these rebel groups are continuing, and most of the casualties are women and children,” Kurdish affairs analyst Mutlu Civiroglu told ARA News.

“These groups want to take control of Sheikh Maqsoud at any cost. They are indiscriminately shelling the neighborhood and killing civilians,” Civiroglu said.

“The sons of Hafez al-Assad who have removed the clothing of Arabism and put on the clothing of religion [in reference to Syrian Islamist rebels] are aiming their hatred and filth at the heads of the civilians,” Sharvan Darwish, a military commander of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), told ARA News. “The number of the martyrs has reached 70 civilians.”

The attacks have also led to more rifts between the Syrian Kurdish political parties. The Kurdish National Council (KNC) is a member of the Syrian opposition, and the Democratic Union Party (PYD) has accused the Syrian opposition of backing the attacks on Sheikh Maqsoud.

“It’s necessary for the KNC to explain this, because it says the rebels are not radicals,” PYD official Nawaf Xelil told ARA News. “This is a Turkish strategy.”

However, the KNC previously condemned rebel attacks on civilians in Aleppo. “The KNC has earlier condemned Nusra’s attacks on Sheikh Maqsoud and the killing of civilians,” Zara Salih, a member of the Political Committee of the Yekîtî Party told ARA News.

Kurds have demanded the Syrian opposition forces to condemn the attacks, since some of the rebel groups attacking the Kurdish neighborhood of Sheikh Maqsoud are part of the Free Syrian Army (FSA).

“YPG had already taken control on Sheikh Maqsoud, but al-Nusra Front and Ahrar al-Sham want to retake this area to open and control the way towards Afrin city north of Aleppo,” Salih said. “It’s a critical situation in this area.”

Speaking to ARA News, Aymen Jawad al-Tamimi, a researcher with the Middle East Forum, said that Sheikh Maqsoud clashes might be related to the territorial competition between the Kurds and Islamist rebel groups.

“Although the exact spark of the clashes is not certain, but it could be related to the [Kurdish-led] SDF attempts to cut off a rebel supply route in northern Aleppo in a bid to expand west of Afrin,” he added.

Podesta Group, Blumenthal, and the Beest linked to PN papers? Nooooo
[Daily Caller] A billionaire and a Russia-controlled bank named in the Panama Papers have links to Hillary Clinton through two separate lobbying efforts -- one through a Clinton-connected lobbying firm and another through Sidney Blumenthal.
This will have legs the moment the MSM turn on the Wildebeest...
Clinton is linked to Sberbank, Russia’s largest bank, through Podesta Group, a lobbying firm co-founded by Clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta and his brother, Tony Podesta, a major Clinton bagman bundler.
Are there any minor Clinton bundlers?
According to the Washington Free Beacon, which first reported the connection, Sberbank registered with the Podesta Group last month to lobby on issues related to economic sanctions against Russia and on stock and bond trading for its U.S. clients.

Bidzina Ivanishvili, a Georgian billionaire and former prime minister of the Caucasus state, is also named in the Panama Papers, which is believed to be the largest leaks of financial documents in history. A close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ivanishvili appeared in the Hillary Clinton email dump through her longtime friend Sidney Blumenthal.

attacks four months after a state of emergency was declared around Lake Chad. Local self-defense groups in the village of Baga Sola near Lake Chad are working alongside security forces.

Buyers and sellers converge at the weekly Saturday market in Baga-Sola. Handheld metal detectors beep amid the usual chatter.

Members of the local self-defense committee check everyone and everything coming into the market, even baskets of vegetables.

"We search everyone," says the head of the local self-defense committee, Hassan Ahmat Mahamat. "Even it is your brother, you search him."

Inside the market, you can still see the charred remnants of a October 10 triple suicide kaboom. At the time, it was Boko Haram's deadliest attack on Chadian soil. The bombing killed 43 people, including the attackers, and maimed 58 more, said the prefect of the Kaya region, Dimouya Souapebé.

"We never imagined Baga Sola would one day be attacked by Boko Haram," he told VOA.

Just weeks after Baga Sola was hit, Chad declared a state of emergency in the area around Lake Chad. Attacks were intensifying there as Nigerian and regional troops routed Boko Haram from strongholds in Nigeria.

The Grand Turk
Erdogan proposes stripping terrorism supporters of Turkish citizenship
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
should consider stripping citizenship from supporters of terrorism, President Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday, adding that the government had "nothing to discuss with terrorists".
Erdogan gets to define "supporters of terrorism." The devil's in the definition.
His comments, in a speech to a group of lawyers in the capital Ankara, come after he ruled out on Monday a revival of peace talks with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK). He has vowed to stamp out the conflict in the mainly Kurdish southeast, at its deadliest in two decades, once and for all.

"We need to be decisive to take all the necessary measures including stripping of citizenship for terror organization supporters," he said in comments broadcast live on television.

"This state has nothing to discuss with terrorists. That business is over."

Erdogan did not specify who he was targeting with the comments. In the past he said that those Turkey accuses of supporting terrorism - whether they are journalists or aid workers - are no different from snuffies themselves.

Such comments have worried rights advocates who fear that anti-terrorism laws, already used to detain academics and opposition journalists, will now be used in courts to stifle discussion of issues such as the Kurdish conflict.

province, local officials said Tuesday.

The Arclight airstrike was carried out in Kot district which is home to several turbans loyal to the terror group.

Provincial governor front man Ataullah Khogyani said the Arclight airstrike was carried out in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

He said six people including the commander of the terror group Abulhai were killed in the raid and a vehicle along with a cycle of violence and various types of weapons and explosives were destroyed in the raid.

The US forces in Afghanistan have increased Arclight airstrikes against the loyalists of the terror group during the recent months with reports suggesting the US Air Force has dropped more than 250 bombs and missiles in January and February months of this year.

Thousands of turbans loyal to the terror group were killed or maimed as US Air Force increased air raids which followed by more authorities granted by the B.O. regime earlier this year.

Saudi Arabia's bitter Lebanese divorce
You break it, you own it, or Lebanon reaps what Hizb'allah sowed.
[Ynet] The waspish cartoon in a Saudi-owned newspaper summed up the anger behind Riyadh's decision to cancel billions of dollars in military aid and suspend decades of engagement in Leb's fraught politics. "The State of Leb: April Fool", it read.

Published on the same day that a Saudi-owned television news channel shut down its Lebanese operations, Friday's cartoon was the latest sign of a falling out which began in January and has become increasingly embittered.

Iran and, in a different way, the Paleos are responsible for at least 75% of the trouble in Leb since, say, 1975. In the 70s and early 80s, the Soviets were responsible for a lot of the problems also. Of course, the Lebanese themselves have done horrible things to each other also. Somewhere over 300,000 people have been killed in factional and terrorist violence since 1975 (most before 1990 during the active civil war)

Fire hits natural gas well in northern Iraq’s Kirkuk region
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A fire broke out on Tuesday evening at a mothballed natural gas production well close to the region controlled by ISIS forces of Evil in northern Iraq, an oil official said.

The well belongs to the Khabbaz oil field, 20 km (12 miles) southwest of Kirkuk in a region under control of the Kurdish peshmerga forces, said an official at the state-run North Oil Company that operates the reservoir.

Firefighters were trying to put out the blaze while an investigation was under way to determine what caused the kaboom, he said.

The Khabbaz field sustained heavy damage last year after an attack by the ultra-hardline ISIS. It produces about 15,000 barrels per day under normal circumstances.

Economy
Economy may not have grown at all in first quarter
It may turn out the economy did not grow at all in the first quarter. Trade data released Tuesday show the U.S. deficit widened more than expected to $47.1 billion in February and was a bigger drag on growth than expected. It's the latest economic metric that chiseled away at the tracking model for first quarter growth.

The median of economists who participate in the CNBC/Moody's Analtyics rapid update is now 0.5 percent for tracking GDP growth, down from 0.9 percent last week. Their average forecast for growth is 1.1 percent.

Given the average, and substantial, revisions to government GDP data, that 0.5 percent could easily turn into a negative number, or a much higher number. That is based on a CNBC study that examined every report going back to 1990 and found an average error rate of 1.3 percentage points in either direction.

The widely followed Atalanta Fed's GDPNow model sees the economy expanding by just 0.4 percent, down from 0.6 percent. Tracking forecasts are based on the data that has been reported.

Saudi security officer shot dead in attack claimed by ISIS
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Assailants rubbed out a senior Saudi security officer west of the capital Riyadh on Tuesday, the interior ministry said in a statement carried by state media, and the attack was claimed by ISIS.

Saudi state news agency SPA quoted an interior ministry front man as saying that the officer, Colonel Kitab Majed al-Hammadi, was rubbed out in the al-Arja area of al-Dawadimi province west of the Saudi capital.

The front man said security authorities were investigating the killing.

ISIS’ Amaq news website said the group's Saudi branch, known as the Nejd Province, carried out the attack and identified Hammadi as the director of internal security in the al-Quwayiyah region.

The Nejd Province group grabbed credit on Sunday for an kaboom next to a cop shoppe south of Riyadh that killed one person and damaged police vehicles.

Power and greed
[DAWN] THE Panama Papers only confirm what has long been known. The unprecedented leak of confidential documents provides some insight into how the rich and powerful stash away their wealth in secret offshore companies. The trail leads to national leaders, top politicians, celebrities and businessmen around the world. Information gleaned from over 11 million documents from a Panama-based law firm is just the tip of the iceberg. The disclosure has triggered global investigations into secret offshore money.

Not surprisingly, the long list of those who use offshore tax havens include family members and associates of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif

Algerian Army Kills 4 Islamists Near Tunisia Border
[AnNahara] Algeria's army on Monday killed four armed Islamists in El-Oued, the defense ministry said, meaning almost a dozen have been killed in the lawless desert region in the past two weeks.

Four Kalashnikov automatic weapons, grenades and ammunition were also seized during the military-led operation in the Bir El Kasira area, near the Tunisian border, the ministry said on its website.

The deaths bring the number of "terrorists" -- what the government calls Islamists who launched an insurgency in the early 1990s -- killed in the Algerian Sahara region over the past two weeks to 11.

Last year the Algerian army killed or tossed in the slammer
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
157 "terrorists," according to figures from the ministry of defense.

A brutal civil war in the 1990s between the government and Islamists claimed the lives of some 200,000 people.

Despite adopting a peace and reconciliation charter in 2005 aimed at turning the page on the conflict, gangs remain active in the center and east of Algeria.

#4  How much better/worse are the regulars?

From personal experience, they're more professional than the IRGC. Even after 40 years of 'politicization', the regulars are still not fully trusted by the theocracy and tend to be relegated to a sort of second-class status. That the mullahs were reduced to recalling a lot of dismissed Shah-era officers to fight the Iran-Iraq war still rankles.

Capability-wise, they're... adequate. Probably slightly less capable than the average Gulf region military.

Note that the Iranians are sending elements from their equivalent of a Delta Force to Syria. That, and open source info, confirms they're having volunteer-issues with the IRGC. When they start sending from the regular units, then it'll be a good indicator that the Iranians are in real trouble.

Afghanistan
57 Military Operations Launched Across The Country
Ministry of Interior officials said Tuesday that 57 military operations have been launched across the country in the past two weeks – killing more than 100 insurgents so far.

In addition, 12 insurgents were arrested and 14 were injured.

The operations were launched in Helmand, Faryab, Uruzgan and Baghlan provinces in a bid to clear insurgents, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry, Sediq Sediqqi said at a press conference in Kabul.

He said that soon a large-scale military operation will launch under of name of "Shafaq" in Badakhshan, Kunduz, Sar-e-Pul, Badghis, Farah, Ghazni, Helmand and Nangarhar provinces. This will be one of the largest programs of the ministry to date to clear insurgents and destroy their bases.

"National police along with the national army have conducted 57 military operations over the past two weeks in Helmand, Kunduz, Badakhshan, Faryab, Uruzgan, Kunar, Nangarhar and Baghlan provinces," Sediqqi said.

He said the Interior Ministry has held discussions in the past three months over the launch of military operations and on preparations for security forces to use all resources to fight the "enemies."

"The enemy is still there. The enemy has not been eliminated. We have a lot of enemies. Taliban, Haqqani and Daesh are the enemies of the people of Afghanistan. During the solar year 1395, we on behalf of the world are in the front line of the fight against terrorism. Afghanistan is shouldering the heavy burden of the fight against terrorism and we still need more facilities," he said.

He emphasized that the threat of Daesh is still present in some parts of the country.

Taliban Resume Attacks In Baghlan
Taliban militants have resumed attacks on local police check posts in Dand-e-Shahabuddin area of Pul-e-Khumri, Baghlan, just weeks after a large-scale military operation was conducted in the area.

Local officials said the Taliban has, over the past week, continued to storm local police check points in the area.

In the latest clash between Afghan forces and Taliban, officials said five Taliban militants and two Afghan soldiers were killed.

"Based on the reports that we have received, five militants have been killed and security forces have also recovered a number of weapons and two of our troops have been martyred— an army soldier and a policeman," said Abdul Satar Barez, the provincial governor.

Local security officials meanwhile have called for more security forces to be stationed in Dand-e-Shahabuddin area.

"Police force is fighting on its own. I don't say that we don't have the ability to defend, but if we want a definite defense, the defense that will give our people a peaceful life, then presence of army is a severe need," said Awaz Mohammad Naziri, Baghlan police chief.

A member of the Baghlan provincial council alleged however that circles inside government and Afghan security forces are supporting Taliban militants.

"On one hand the area is volatile, there are security threats and on the other hand the government for political reasons decreased the number of local police, which itself helps in the collapse of the area. It is a kind of support to the militants from the government. There are individuals and circles inside the government who are conducting programs to support militants," said Asadullah Shahbaz, a member of the council.

Residents of Baghlan said Afghan security forces failed in their Khorshid 20 clearance operation in Dand-e-Ghor and Dand-e-Shahabuddin areas earlier this year – which is why the Taliban has once again been able to gain a foothold in residential areas after fleeing to the mountains.

Meanwhile, local officials in southern Uruzgan said that heavy fighting between Afghan forces and the Taliban is underway in their province.‎ They said that main roads in four districts are blocked, cutting off Terinkot, the center of the province.

Rahimullah, security chief of the provincial police headquarters, said the Taliban in the area has heavy weapons and military equipment.

He urged the central government to increase the number of troops, particularly police, in the province.

He said that Taliban members fighting in the province have also come in from Helmand.

"The number of troops in Uruzgan should be increased and it should not be decreased and police should be provided with tanks. You can see the weapons that the government does not have, but the enemy has them," said Rahimullah.

Security troops fighting on this frontline said they did not receive military equipment and weapons on time adding that the Taliban is better equipped than them.

"We don't have heavy weapons. They are attacking us at night and if we raise our heads they are going to hit us on our heads," said a soldier.

Putin orders forming of Russian National Guard force
[Iran Press TV] Russia has announced the formation of a new National Guard security force that will answer directly to President Vladimir Putin.
...Second and fourth President and sixth of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from polonium poisoning. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead...

"The decisions have been taken, we are creating a new federal body of executive power," said Putin during a security meeting in the Kremlin on Tuesday.

He noted that the National Guard would be formed from the merger of SWAT teams, riot police, and interior ministry troops to fight terrorism, organized crime, and drug trafficking while they have normal police functions.

"I do hope that the National Guard troops will perform their tasks effectively, just as they have been doing up to this day and step up the work along the priority guidelines," he added.

The new force is set to be led by the head of the interior ministry’s forces Viktor Zolotov, who formerly directed Putin's personal security detachment.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
3 Palestinians to be charged for shooting attack soon — Shin Bet
As so often is the case, our first intimation that the Israelis arrested someone for terrorism is when the post-interrogation charges are announced.
[IsraelTimes] Security service reveals details of two cases involving improvised submachine guns in recent months

Security forces tossed in the clink
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
three Paleostinian men suspected of carrying out a shooting attack in February on Israeli citizens in the West Bank, the Shin Bet revealed on Tuesday.

The three men were picked up in a joint Shin Bet, IDF and Israel Police operation on February 9, some four days after they had carried out a drive-by shooting at passing cars near Iskaka, near Ariel in the West Bank, the Shin Bet said.

No one was injured in the attack, but one car was damaged.

The three Paleostinians were identified as Abdallah Taiseer Abd Arouri, Hamada Salah Abd Arouri and Salah Sabri Abd Arouri. They were all members of the same family, from Aroura, a village north of Ramallah, the Shin Bet said.

Abdallah and Hamada are both 30 years old, while Salah is 23 years old.

According to their confessions, the trio had purchased two weapons -- makeshift Carlo submachine guns -- from an arms dealer in the West Bank and began practicing with them in preparation for a terror attack.

The guns were later recovered by the Shin Bet.

During the shooting attack, Abdallah acted as driver, while Hamada and Salah actually fired the submachine guns, the Shin Bet said.

"The investigation will be handed over to the military prosecutor and indictments will be filed shortly," the Shin Bet said.

The security service also revealed additional information about an attempted shooting attack last month.

On March 23, IDF soldiers spotted 27-year-old Imad al-Huli, armed with a Carlo submachine gun and a knife, trying to enter the El-Matan settlement in the Samaria region of the West Bank.

During Huli’s interrogation he admitted to Shin Bet officers that he had planned to carry out a shooting attack near the road leading to the El-Matan settlement, but "apparently changed his mind and was caught on his way home," the Shin Bet said in a statement.

The Azzoun resident had argued with his parents over an engagement that was called off before deciding to carry out the attack.

This case seems to reinforce the Shin Bet’s claim that many of the Paleostinians who have carried out terror attacks suffer from personal and psychological difficulties.

The Paleostinian Authority and terror organizations, through "wild incitement," have been "influencing these people with personal problems," the Shin Bet said last month. And this has "pushed them to carry out acts of terror."
Which does not rule out individual connections to Hamas and/or Islamic Jihad, making the troubled more vulnerable to the incitement, exactly as intended.

China-Japan-Koreas
N.Korea Touts Launch of New Surface-to-Air Missile
North Korea on Saturday released launch images of a new surface-to-air missile that appears to be a home-grown version of the Patriot missile. The missile has an estimated range of 100 to 150 km and is aimed at repelling South Korean fighter jets.
That being the definition of a SAM after all...
The North's official Rodong Sinmun daily carried about a dozen pictures of the missile being launched as their corpulent leader Kim Jong-un looked on.

Also seen in the photos are trucks loaded with three cylindrical launching tubes. They also show the missile flying obliquely shortly after the vertical launch before hitting the target in the air.

The launch technology is the same as that used for South Korea's new home-grown surface-to-air Cheongung missile.

The KN-06 was unveiled during a military parade marking the 65th anniversary of the Workers Party in Pyongyang in October 2010, but no images of the test launch were available. Military authorities here have noticed striking similarities to Russia's S-300 and China's HQ-9.
Imagine that...
"The North probably didn't develop the missile and radar system completely on its own," an intelligence source here said. "Some equipment or technology may have been smuggled into the North from China, Russia or a third country that has S-300 missiles."

The publicity for the rocket seems to have been a response to recent South Korea-U.S. drills that practiced airstrikes on strategic North Korean facilities.

(IS) group, which has staged two attacks in Istanbul this year, reports said Tuesday.

The men were arrested in the southern province of Gaziantep, which borders Syria, the local governor's office said in a statement carried by the Dogan news agency.

One of them was named as Mehmet Mustafa Cevik, described as a member of IS and one of its Turkish affiliates, the Dokumacilar Group.

The Dokumacilar Group, named after its wanted founder Mustafa Dokumaci, is the jacket wallah unit suspected of being behind the October 2015 attack that killed 103 people at an Ankara peace rally in Turkey's bloodiest-ever attack.

The cell has also been linked to the killing of 34 people in the town of Suruc on the Syrian border in July 2015.

The other jihadist arrested was Ercan Capkin, the brother of Erkan Capkin, one of the suspected suicide bombers behind the March 19 attack on a famous Istanbul shopping thoroughfare that left four people dead.

A dozen German tourists were also killed in January when a suicide bomber linked to IS detonated his charge in the heart of Istanbul's historic center.

Both suspects were ordered by a court in Gaziantep to be held in jail ahead of trial, the report said.

The Turkish interior ministry now has 23 suspected IS forces of Evil on its most wanted list with a total bounty of 42 million lira ($15 million) on their heads, the Hurriyet daily reported Tuesday.

Three suspected IS forces of Evil are on its urgently-wanted red list including Mustafa Dokumaci, the alleged leader of IS in Gaziantep, Ilhami Bali and Yunus Durmaz who is said to have planned the March 19 attack.

Turkey has been for several months on a state of high alert due to a series of attacks blamed both on IS and Kurdish forces of Evil amid the resumption of a conflict with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
