Minnesota AG Keith Ellison Hides Ties to Somali Muslim Charity Fraud
[Breitbart] Minnesota attorney general Keith Ellison is trying to explain his support for a Muslim children’s organization that is being prosecuted for massive fraud.

Federal prosecutors have been investigating the Minneapolis-based Somali organization that was supposed to be raising funds for children but instead turned into the most expensive fraud concerning COVID funding in the entire nation, where 47 Somali immigrants have been charged with stealing $250 million in federal COVID funding.

Yet, Ellison took a meeting with representatives of that charity even as it was being investigated and now, in an op-ed, he is suddenly claiming, “as for the meeting — if I had had any way of knowing beforehand who those people were and what they’d done, I never would have agreed to it.”

But his claim is hard to square with his past statements on this very group, not to mention a recently released recording of a meeting he took with them.

During Democrat Governor Tim Walz’s terms, the fake Somali charity called “Feeding Our Future” was found to have defrauded the government of millions of dollars, money that was set aside to help children and families during the COVID crisis, but money that was instead redirected to pay for high-priced real estate, cars, clothes, travel expenses, and luxuries for the members of the Somali community that managed the funds.

When the investigation into the charity first came to be public in 2022, AG Ellison claimed that he spent “two years” working closely with the feds to investigate and prosecute the fraudulent behavior – placing the start of his involvement in the investigation in 2020.

“Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and his office have been deeply involved for two years in holding Feeding Our Future accountable,” Ellison’s office insisted in a September, 2022, statement.

However, recently released audio seems to suggest that Ellison took a meeting with the charity in December of 2021, far less than two years before his statement about working with the feds. At this meeting, he seemed to promise to “help” the group with its goals during the same period of time he later claimed he was helping the feds bring the group down.

In the recording of the meeting with the Feeding Our Future representatives, Ellison seems to treat the group as a legitimate organization, does not acknowledge that they are under federal investigation, says he is there to “help” them, and even hints that if he speaks to his office, he could get that investigation dropped.

Ellison has also said that he has never taken anything from Feeding Our Future, but the Washington Free Beacon reports that only nine days after his late 2021 meeting with the group, his campaign accepted a total of $10,000 from the men who were in the meeting.

The high Democrat official, though, is now trying to explain this audio away and scrambling to show how it fits into his claim that he spent two years working with the feds to prosecute the very group he was meeting with only nine months before he claimed he had spent two years investigating them.

In an op-ed published Monday by the Minnesota Star Tribune, Ellison waved off criticism by trying to claim the meeting was “routine,” and is something he would do for any constituent in keeping with his “open door” policy.

He also tried to claim that when he took the meeting, he was not that intimately familiar with the charity and that “Feeding Our Future still wasn’t a household name.” And he admitted in his op-ed that he was unfamiliar with the accusations against the group. Indeed, in his op-ed, Ellison claims that “it wasn’t until a month after this December 2021 meeting that the scandal started to take shape in earnest.”

That would put the meeting well inside the “two years” that Ellison first claimed he was already working with the feds to investigate the charity.

Whatever the case, in his op-ed Ellison avoided trying to square his 2022 claim that he had already spent two years investigating the fraud of Feeding Our Future with the fact that he promised to help them during a meeting he held with them in 2021.

#1  March 2020 was when the CARES ACT passed.

By July 2020, the Feeding Our Future (FOF) was in operation. The FOF ramped up their operations by January 2021.

December 2021 was when Ellison met with many of the FOF participants.

BREAKING: Department of Defense Branch Chief Calls President Trump "Illegitimate," Vows to Resist Him – Attacks Hegseth as "Unfit to Lead" (VIDEO)
[Gateway P] A newly unemployed hack
The O’Keefe Media Group on Wednesday released undercover video of a Defense Department Branch Chief attacking President Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Nicolas Turza, a Department of Defense Branch Chief, called President Trump "illegitimate" and vowed to "resist him, everything he does."

Turza also attacked Hegseth and said the 44-year-old is "insanely young" and unfit to lead.

"The same guy who tried to overthrow an election is just, like, truly setting us down a path of dictatorship. He’s illegitimate. He’s terribly immoral, breaking every norm. We’re going to resist him. Everything he does," Turza said about Trump.

"I’m a very patriotic person, and I’ve never been less patriotic," he said to the OMG journalist.

Turza then attacked Pete Hegseth.

"Ultimately [Hegseth] is my boss. But this is insane. I actually know Pete Hegseth. And this is so crazy. Like, that’s not a good reflection on me. That’s a bad reflection on Trump. Like, nobody I know should be the Secretary of Defense," Turza said.

He continued, "Like, he’s insanely young to be the part, like, and he wasn’t that high up in the military. He used to be in the DC National Guard."

When asked about his opinion about Trump, Turza said, "The worst thing about him is his utter lack of moral principle... The second worst thing about him is how stupid he could be."

James O’Keefe said Hegseth has never even heard of Nicolas Turza.

Italy's ring of steel for Pope Francis funeral: NATO jets, snipers, missile launchers and 8,000 cops readied for huge security operation as global elite including Trump and Prince William head to the Vatican
As thousands of mourners flood St Peter's Square following the death of Pope Francis, Italian authorities are quietly executing one of the most complex and secretive security operations in Vatican history.

With as many as 170 foreign delegations - including those of Donald Trump and Prince William – expected to descend on the Vatican for Saturday's funeral, along with crowds of up to 200,000 people, those overseeing the event are preparing for a hyper-vigilant few days.

At the centre of the operation a shadowy military unit trained in drone warfare, typically deployed in conflict zones, now mobilised to keep a silent watch over the skies of the Eternal City.

According to Corriere della Serra, anti-drone weaponry are being deployed, a no-fly zone patrolled by NATO AWACS surveillance jets will be put in place, as well as sophisticated anti-drone jamming systems.

Snipers will be placed strategically on nearby roofs and barriers have already been erected inside and outside the basilica in an attempt to control the grieving crowds.

Speaking to NBC, Rome's police chief, Marcello Fulvi, said around 8,000 security agents would also be in place for the funeral, including 2,000 uniformed police officers patrolling St. Peter’s and the boulevard leading up to it and another 1,400 plainclothes officers in the streets.

Though Italian officials have not formally raised the terror threat level, insiders confirm it has been unofficially elevated, prompting sweeping measures across Rome and the Vatican.

Airspace has been locked down, with a blanket ban on all aircraft – from commercial planes to hobbyist drones – to prevent any airborne threats during Saturday's historic farewell to the late pontiff.

But this is no ordinary papal funeral.

Pope Francis, who passed away on Easter Monday, will not be buried beneath St Peter's Basilica like his predecessors - a profound break with centuries of tradition.

Instead, his final resting place will be the Basilica of St Mary Major, perched on the Esquiline Hill near the bustling Termini station - a route that throws Rome's security services into uncharted territory.

The logistical challenge of guarding a funeral procession that stretches well beyond Vatican walls has triggered a massive mobilisation of Italy's security forces.

Sources suggest that thousands of officers - including undercover units - are already in place, and more are expected to be deployed in the days ahead.

Elite police and military units, the Swiss Guard, the Vatican Gendarmerie, and a complex network of surveillance teams are all involved.

Major intersections have become choke points, swarming with uniformed and plainclothes officers, while the River Tiber is being closely monitored as an additional potential vulnerability.

Italy's official terror threat level remains at Level 2 - medium/high, but authorities are treating this moment with the gravity of a state emergency.

Given that more than 20,000 mourners formed eight-hour queues at the Vatican as they wait to pay their respects to the late Pope Francis today alone, it's easy to see why.

Over the coming days, tens of thousands of people are expected to pass through the basilica to see Francis lie in state and at least 200,000 people are expected to attend the outdoor funeral service on Saturday.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Russian spy chief 'masterminded parcel bomb attack on US-bound flights that sparked fire at DHL depot'
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A Russian spy chief has been identified as one of the suspected masterminds behind a parcel bomb attack on US-bound flights which sparked a fire at a DHL depot in Birmingham.

Last year, officials feared that Russia was attempting to plant bombs on passenger planes flying to the US and Canada.

It came after electronic massagers began to explode in warehouses across Europe.

Two incendiary devices were shipped via DHL logistic centres in Birmingham and Leipzig in Germany, resulting in blazes.

It is now believed a Russian military intelligence officer may have been the mastermind behind a sabotage plot, The Times reported.

Four people were arrested in connection with the blaze in Birmingham and charged with participating in sabotage or terrorist operations on behalf of a foreign intelligence agency.

No injuries were reported but investigators believe there could have been far more serious consequences had the devices ignited while in flight.

A similar fire then broke out at an airport in Warsaw in the following days.

At the time, the head of Poland's foreign intelligence agency Pawel Szota blamed Russia, although the prosecutor's office statement did not name a foreign government suspected of directing the operations.

The devices were reportedly hidden in massage cushions in the parcels alongside cosmetics and sex toys, which did not raise suspicions during pre-flight security checks, according to investigations by German broadcasters WDR and NDR and the Süddeutsche Zeitung.

European officials previously warned that mass casualties were avoided purely 'by accident' because the bombs did not go off in mid-air.

They suspected that the packages were intended to expose vulnerabilities in western delivery channels to the US.

Reports had previously linked the GRU, Russia's intelligence agency, to the plot.

GRU officer Colonel Denis Smolyaninov is one of the men believed to have been behind the sabotage operation.

He is believed to have been one of ten people involved in the attack, including low-level proxies, that sent the devices through air freight hubs.

According to documents obtained by Dossier Center, the investigative unit funded by Kremlin critic Mikhail Khodorkovsky, Colonel Smolyaninov was plotting to disrupt western aviation since 2014.

The documents, seen by German reporters show that Russian agents had plotted ways to obstruct radio communication between pilots and ground personnel.

If successful, pilots and airport staff would not be able to hear each other, which could cause planes to be misdirected.

In August 2024, two parcels were sent from Warsaw to the US and Canada, containing clothes, trainers and tracking devices in what are believed to have been dry runs.

Several people, including Ukrainians and Lithuanians, have been detained regarding the plot.

Another suspected plotter identified by German media is a Russian named as Aleksandr B, who was arrested in Bosnia-Herzegovina last year suspected of training Moldovans for protests in their home country.

He was extradited to Poland in February on charges of 'co-ordinating acts of sabotage'.

However, the sabotage series appears to have stopped last year. According to German media, the attacks stopped after US officials made it clear to Russia that they knew who was behind it and that no further escalation would be tolerated.

The Russian embassy in Berlin told the German reporters that the sabotage plot claims were 'paranoia' and 'conspiracy theories'.

Toronto Pearson Airport on lockdown after shooting in terminal
Parts of Toronto Pearson International Airport have been put on lockdown after a man was shot, with police and paramedics swarming the area.

Terminal 1 Departures at the major airport has been closed due to a 'police-involved shooting', the province's Special Investigations Unit confirmed.

They later confirmed that an adult male had been shot, adding that it was an isolated incident and there are no known threats to the public.

Images taken at the scene show a body on the ground behind a blacked out SUV outside of the terminal. Police said that the officer involved in the shooting was uninjured.

Officials have yet to provide context as to what lead up to the shooting.

CTV News spoke with witnesses who said that gunshots started ringing out just before 7am outside of the terminal.

Traveler Chris Rhind told CP24 he heard 'loud, popping noises' in the distance while grabbing his luggage, the noise caught the attention of a security guard.

Images on social media show cars backed up along the onramp to the departure area, with dozens of cop cars surrounding the airport.

Peel paramedics say they received a request to attend the airport at 6:56 a.m. and no one was transported to hospital. They would not confirm whether anyone had died.

People could also be seen abandoning their Ubers, walking away from the terminal with their luggage in hand.

Police said that those should expect delays out of Terminal 1, and travelers have been urged to contact their airline for flight statuses.

Terminal 1 is the main hub for Air Canada, and also services other airlines as well.

Government Corruption
Gabbard claims three 'deep state' figures infiltrated US intelligence
Tulsi Gabbard has referred two intelligence officials to the Department of Justice for allegedly leaking classified information - with a third referral on its way. The unidentified officials allegedly leaked the classified intelligence to the Washington Post and the New York Times, an Office of the Director of National Intelligence official told Fox News Digital. 'Politicization of our intelligence and leaking classified information puts our nation's security at risk and must end,' Gabbard, who serves as the director of national intelligence, said as news of the pending charges broke. 'Those who leak classified information will be found and held accountable to the fullest extent of the law,' she vowed.

Gabbard then went on to claim that the 'deep state criminals leaked classified information for partisan political purposes to undermine President Trump's agenda. I look forward to working with the Department of Justice and the FBI to investigate, terminate and prosecute these criminals.' The move to refer the three officials for criminal prosecution comes as Trump officials ramp up their investigations into possible leak, with Gabbard establishing a new task force last month to root out unauthorized disclosures of classified intelligence.

She said at the time that a 'leaker within the IC sharing information on Israel / Iran with the Washington Post' was among the 'unauthorized leaks' she was looking at, according to Axios. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence has since conducted an internal review and sent the criminal referral to the Justice Department, a source inside the office told Fox News. The Department of Justice would then send a referral to the FBI to begin a formal criminal investigation. 'We are aggressively investigating other leaks and will pursue further criminal referrals as warranted,' the source said. 'Any intelligence community bureaucrat who is considering leaking to the media should take this as a warning.'

Meanwhile, the Department of Defense is conducting its own probe into possible leaks amid increased scrutiny of the department following Secretary Pete Hegseth's and other top Cabinet officials' Signal chat with the Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg. Just last week, in fact, Deputy Chief of Staff Darin Selnick, Hegseth's top adviser Dan Caldwell and Colin Carroll (pictured) ,chief of staff to Deputy Defense Secretary Stephen Feinberg were fired. Caldwell and Selnick were even personally escorted from the premises. In the aftermath, the trio released a statement saying they were 'incredibly disappointed by the manner in which our service at the Department of Defense ended' and decrying 'baseless attacks' on their character. 'Unnamed Pentagon officials have slandered our character with baseless attacks on our way out the door,' they said. 'All three of us served our country honorably in uniform - for two of us, this included deployments to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. And based on our collective service, we understand the importance of information security and worked every day to protect it.'

Caldwell (Pictured) also denied he leaked any classified information in an interview with Tucker Carlson - and instead claimed the investigation was 'weaponized' against him because he 'threatened' established ideas within the Pentagon's walls. He then went on to imply that insider in-fighting led to the firing of Selnick and Carroll, separate from those that led to his own termination. 'We were threatening a lot of established interests in our own separate ways and we had people who had personal vendettas against us. And I think they weaponized the investigation against us.'

When asked to expound on what views Caldwell held that could have gotten him fired, he said that there is a bipartisan desire to see America go to war with Iran. 'I think there clearly is a very strong coalition within the United States that wants to see another war in the Middle East and it crosses both parties.' Furthermore, Caldwell - who blames career staffers for leaking out sensitive information - believes that the investigation that supposedly led to his firing is a total sham. 'There's a lot of evidence that there is not a real investigation but again, sitting here right now, there are a lot of unknowns about this,' he said.

Selnick (Pictured) and Carroll are now planning to sue for wrongful termination, according to Politico. But Hegseth has held firm in his accusations of his former colleagues, warning on Tuesday that they will likely be prosecuted, Reuters reports. 'If those people are exonerated, fantastic,' he told Fox News, before adding: 'We don't think - based on what we understand - that it's going to be a good day for a number of those individuals because of what was found in the investigation.'

He went on to explain that there had been a number of leaks that triggered the investigation, including about military options to ensure US access to the Panama Canal and Elon Musk's visit to the Pentagon. 'We said "enough is enough, we're going to launch a leak investigation,"' he recounted. 'We took it seriously. 'It led to some unfortunate places, people I have known for quite some time. But it's not my job to protect them. It's my job to protect national security.'

Yet Hegseth - himself - is also facing scrutiny after it was revealed that he shared details of a US foreign military attack in a second Signal group chat , this time involving his wife, brother and personal lawyer. Neither the White House nor Hegseth denied that he had shared such information in the chat, instead focusing their responses on what they called disgruntled workers who leaked to the media. They have also insisted that no classified information had been disclosed. 'It´s just fake news. They just bring up stories,' President Donald Trump told reporters on Monday. 'I guess it sounds like disgruntled employees. You know, he was put there to get rid of a lot of bad people, and that´s what he´s doing. So you don´t always have friends when you do that,' Trump said.

Predictions for the German Economy Call for No Growth and Blaming Trump
[HotAir] Is there anything that man can't do?

The forecasts are out for the moribund German economy - which suddenly and conveniently no one can remember was already in the toilet and has been circling for the past two years - and darned if they aren't downright gloomy.

I mean, they're coloring it as 'down to zero' when it was only optimistically predicted to come in at around 0.3% growth at its best anyway.

Shave and a haircut difference, but 'nothing, no growth, nada' is pretty dramatic when you've just sold your soul to the European Union for hundreds of billions of euros in debt service to be determined later.

It's a brilliant bunch they have in charge in that country.

Who might that be?

Well, basically the same losers who got them in this pickle to begin with, only their precedence in a governing coalition has been shaken and stirred - that's all.

The so-called 'right-wing' populist party, which came in second place and has been excluded from any say in what happens in Germany, looks more and more like Obi-Wan Kenobi with every round of polling. The Alternative for Germany (AfD) just keeps getting stronger as Friedrich Merz's Christian Democrats (CDU) and their coalition partners shiver and stumble along.

Bad enough with all the broken campaign promises about immigration, debt brakes, and such things. Now there's not even a glimmer of hope on the horizon for some sort of economic resurgence to pull the Germans out of their self-induced economic coma.

Did I say self-induced?

Well, we can't have that, nor any accountability for the chaos and misery caused by Germany's dogged pursuit of climate cult madness.

Let's simply say 'Trump did it to them' because you can bet your bippy they will.

Darn Trump.

But deteriorating conditions are also giving rise to fears that the CDU and fellow conspirators may be, in fact, desperate enough to try a move Merz said he wouldn't - banning the populist and very popular AfD.

Blaming Trump isn't going to save them, and antsy coalition members know it.

The openings come months after Big Lots announced its sale to Gordon Brothers Retail Partners. As part of the deal, Variety Wholesalers acquired 219 Big Lots stores, as well as two distribution centers.

Preserving Memory: The Genocide of the Soviet People Has Been Officially Recognized
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Elena Kuleshova

[REGNUM] The Great Patriotic War left scars not only on people and in history, but also in human memory. For a long time, it was believed that the figure from school textbooks "twenty million dead" was military losses and "collateral damage".

Over time, our understanding of history has become deeper and it has become clear that those millions of women, children, old people, and teenagers destroyed by the Nazis were not just “losses among the civilian population,” but the result of a planned, deliberate genocide of the Soviet people.

It took quite a long time to reach this understanding: seven years ago, the Russian Search Movement initiated the all-Russian project “No Statute of Limitations”. It was first presented in December 2018 at a meeting of the Russian Organizing Committee “Victory”.

The stated goal of the project was to preserve the historical memory of the tragedy of the civilian population of the USSR - victims of war crimes by the Nazis and their accomplices during the Great Patriotic War.

The initiative was supported by over 2 million people, and additional work to find evidence of Nazi atrocities was carried out throughout the country by dozens of local history organizations and hundreds of activists.

In 2025, having summarized the data received, a group of deputies and senators - 20 people in total - submitted to the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs a bill "On perpetuating the memory of the victims of the genocide of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945."

On April 9, it was sent to the Federation Council for consideration and adopted a week later. On April 21, 2025, the bill was signed by the President of the Russian Federation and acquired the status of a valid law.

The main thing it defines is the concept of "genocide of the Soviet people". It is recognized as "the actions of the Nazis and their accomplices during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, aimed at the complete or partial destruction of national, ethnic and racial groups inhabiting the territory of the USSR, by: killing members of these groups; causing serious harm to their health; forcibly preventing childbirth; forced transfer of children; forced resettlement or other creation of living conditions calculated to physically destroy members of these groups."

In addition, the law defines the forms of perpetuating the memory of victims, the procedure for reburial of their remains, ensuring the safety of burials or unburied remains, and regulates issues of organizing and conducting search work.

The powers of Russian state authorities and local governments working to perpetuate the memory of the victims of the genocide of the Soviet people are also delineated.

Now it has ceased to be simply a statement of fact and is the focus of attention of investigative bodies.

"To date, 19 court decisions have already been made recognizing the crimes of the Nazis and their allies against the peaceful Soviet population as genocide, as a result of which about 4 million civilians suffered. The trials will continue," the authors of the bill claim.

Even after 80 years, activists are finding previously unknown places of mass executions and archival documents confirming the atrocities of the occupiers.

There is a lot of work to be done, because even the register of existing monuments to those killed during the Great Patriotic War is still in the process of being created, although it already includes data from 24 regions.

For example, it included the Zhestyanaya Gorka memorial complex in the Novgorod region. Here, in a concentration camp near the village of the same name, about 3,000 people died in 1942–1943, including children aged 5 to 17. An examination established that children were shot in the back of the head, chopped with knives, stabbed with bayonets, and beaten to death with sticks.

Based on these facts, a criminal case was opened under Article 357 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Genocide”.

Journalist and member of the Human Rights Council Alexander Malkevich told the Regnum news agency that he ardently supports the innovations introduced by the law.

"To be honest, I am surprised that it took so long to get around to eliminating this monstrous injustice. We are only just beginning to guess, especially young and middle-aged people, how many civilians died as a result of genocide. I am a native Leningrader myself and I know, unfortunately, that traces of these monstrous Nazi crimes are still being found in the Leningrad Region. At one time I lived and worked in the Novgorod Region, and unfortunately there is a lot of work there too," says Malkevich.

According to him, it is necessary to collect together all the historical evidence of Nazi crimes, including in the new territories of Russia.

"I hope that there will be strong-willed people who will create a museum entirely dedicated to the history of the fascist genocide, where everything will be shown using interactive technologies: the authentic setting of the concentration camp, and the torture chambers from the dungeons in Rovenki. I have been to Austria and to the Mauthausen concentration camp, where General Karbyshev was tortured. And all this also needs to be shown. To make it so that people literally feel with their skin what ordinary, peaceful people of our country went through during the war with Nazi Germany," our interlocutor is sure.

And now search teams and associations engaged in the search and burial of the remains of the dead will be involved in collecting evidence. For this purpose, their activities are additionally regulated.

Previously, search teams who discovered the burial sites of civilians could be brought to court under Article 244 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, "Desecration of the bodies of the dead and their burial sites." While the exhumation of the remains of soldiers and officers of the Red Army is regulated by the Law of the Russian Federation of January 14, 1993, No. 4292-1, "On the perpetuation of the memory of those killed in defense of the Fatherland," the work of search teams in this area is legal and honorable.

The law resolves these contradictions by establishing a procedure for coordinating and conducting search operations in relation to the remains of the civilian population. In addition, searchers have the right to initiate a temporary ban on construction, excavation, road and other work if they are carried out at the site of such a burial.

"Over the 37 years of the search expedition's work in the Novgorod region, we have repeatedly found joint burials of Red Army soldiers and civilians and did not divide them - we buried them together. And according to the new bill, if we find civilians who died during the Great Patriotic War, we stop the search work and hand the case over to investigators of the Investigative Committee, who add these cases to the general case of the genocide of the Soviet people," explains Igor Neofitov, Chairman of the Council of Commanders of the "Dolina" search expedition in the Novgorod region, to Regnum News Agency.

And the searchers have quite a few such finds. Neofitov told, for example, how during the retreat of the Red Army in one of the Novgorod villages they did not have time to evacuate a hospital and the Germans shot over 300 wounded soldiers and officers.

Along with them, 209 local residents were shot, in whose houses hospital wards were set up. In the "cauldron" into which the 2nd Shock Army found itself in 1942, there were not only military units, but also over a hundred villages and farmsteads, the majority of whose population perished.

In the Partisan Territory, a vast forested area in the Leningrad, Novgorod, Pskov and Tver regions, behind German lines, it was difficult to separate partisans from civilians – everyone, young and old, took part in the popular resistance. It was here, about two years ago, that searchers discovered a dugout containing the remains of two adults and nine children – the Nazis shot them on the spot for “aiding the partisans.”

And this is only the Novgorod region. Taking into account that there are more than 1,500 search teams operating in Russia, the scale of the work and the importance of the legislative initiative become clear.

"I will express the opinion of probably all searchers: this is a very necessary bill, both legally and ideologically. Because we have finally paid attention to the partisans, and the underground fighters, and the concentration camp prisoners, who used to remain somehow on the sidelines. It is good that the law delineates the work, regulates the actions of the authorities and gives search organizations certain powers," says Neofitov.

It is important that the law not only delineates the powers of government bodies at different levels, but also imposes on them the responsibility for the creation, preservation and restoration of monuments and other memorial structures and objects that perpetuate the memory of those who died in the Great Patriotic War.

And although much time has passed, we can still restore the memory of the crimes against the Soviet people, not allowing the history of Russia to be rewritten and distorted, but on the contrary, casting it in bronze for future generations.

Astrakhan resident convicted for justifying Beslan school seizure
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] The Southern District Military Court imposed a fine on the Astrakhan resident, finding him guilty of calling for terrorist activity and extremism.

The verdict for the "repeatedly convicted resident of Astrakhan" was reported on April 23 by sources connected to the security forces. According to them, the man shared the ideas of "terrorist and pro-Ukrainian nationalist groups."

According to security forces, the man published posts on social networks justifying the terrorist attack in Beslan, called Shamil Basayev
…Shamil Salmanovich Basayev, also known by his kunya "Abu Idris" and Emir Abdullah Shamil Abu-Idris (1965-2006). Basayev was a Chechen warlord in the post-Soviet Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, which after his death became the Al Qaeda-linked Caucasus Emirate. In 2015 most of the hard boys changed their allegiance to the local Islamic State affiliate, Vilayat Kavkaz, whereupon a majority chose to escape the Spetsnaz hunting them by making hijra to the caliphate in Syria. Some of his projects were the 2004 Beslan school siege and the 2002 Moscow theater hostage crisis...
"a hero of the Chechen people", "and also said that Astrakhan is with Ukraine", claims the Telegram channel "Operativnye Sudovki" associated with security forces.

On September 1, 2004, militants took 1,128 hostages in the gymnasium of School No. 1 in Beslan. The operation to free them ended on September 3, 2004. As a result of the terrorist attack, 334 people were killed, including 186 children, and another 810 people were injured. The "Caucasian Knot" has prepared a report " Terrorist attack in Beslan (September 1-3, 2004) " and  a chronicle of the terrorist attack  and the events that followed.

The channel published a short video of the suspect's arrest. Judging by the recording, the man was detained on the street by four law enforcement officers in civilian clothes; the arrest probably took place in the fall. The sound was selectively removed from the video, so the phrases exchanged between the law enforcement officers and the detainee are impossible to make out.

The Astrakhan resident's case was heard by the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don, reported the Telegram channel "From Astrakhan", which positions itself as the "Main Channel of the City and Region".

The man was found guilty under two criminal articles - calls for terrorist activity (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of Russia) and calls for extremism (Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code of Russia). Although both of these articles provide for actual imprisonment, the court sentenced him to a fine of 500 thousand rubles and a ban on website administration for three years.

In the card index of the Southern District Military Court, the description matches the case card of Denis Polyakov - it was received by the court in December 2024, the verdict was issued on February 4. A month later, on March 4, the court sent the writ of execution on the case to the Soviet District Department of Bailiffs of the city of Astrakhan.

Yemeni Armed Forces announce two new operations against Israeli targets — Hodhod Yemen News Agency
Yes, but did the missiles come down close enough to Israel to get their attention? If yes, did Israel successfully shoot them down — as usual — or did Allah for once choose to let the missiles do damage in Israel?
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
i Armed Forces announced on Wednesday two military operations against vital Israeli targets in the occupied Paleostinian territories.

The Yemeni Armed Forces issued the following statement:

''In support of the oppressed Paleostinian people and their valiant resistance, and in rejection of the genocidal crimes being perpetrated by the ''Israeli'' enemy—with direct American backing—against our brothers in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
The missile force of the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out a precise and exceptional military operation targeting a vital site belonging to the Zionist enemy in the occupied city of Haifa using a hypersonic ballistic missile.

By the grace of God, the missile successfully reached its target. Enemy air defense systems failed to intercept it, triggering widespread panic among the Zionist settlers. As a result, over two million settlers rushed into shelters.

Additionally, the drone force of the Yemeni Armed Forces conducted another military operation, targeting a strategic site in the occupied city of Yafa [''Jaffa''] using a Yafa-model drone.

The people of faith and wisdom are waging this battle with complete reliance on God Almighty—executing His commands, following His guidance, and placing their trust in Him. They will not retreat or abandon their sacred, moral, and humanitarian responsibilities. With God's help, they will continue their jihad in support of the oppressed Paleostinian people until the aggression on Gaza ceases and the siege is lifted.''
Update from the Times of Israel at 9:00 p.m. ET:
A ballistic missile fired at Israel by the Iran-backed Houthi group in Yemen set off sirens early Wednesday morning in the north of the country for the first time, sending over a million people rushing for the safety of bomb shelters.

The Israel Defense Forces said the missile was successfully intercepted by air defenses.

Sirens sounded as a precaution against falling missile and interceptor debris, which has in the past caused injuries and even death.

Sirens went off at 4 a.m. in Haifa and the surrounding area, as well as the Western Galilee region. Explosions from the interceptions were heard in Haifa and the Sharon region.

The Houthis later claimed to have fired the missile at a “vital Zionist enemy target” in Haifa. They also claimed to have launched a drone at a target in the Tel Aviv area, although there were no reports of drones reaching Israel from Yemen overnight.

The Magen David Adom ambulance service reported no direct injuries from the missile attack or impacts from debris, but said paramedics treated a number of people who were injured while rushing for shelter.

President Joseph Aoun said last week he hopes to restrict arms to the state in 2025 through "dialogue" with Hezbollah. "Does anyone expect us to discuss a national defense strategy as warplanes fly over our heads and there is occupation in south Lebanon," Qassem responded in a televised speech. "These are not discussions, this is surrender," he said.

Geagea considered that Hezbollah's statements would affect Lebanon's credibility and "damage its image" as Hezbollah was to pull its fighters back north of the Litani River and dismantle any remaining military infrastructure in the south under a November ceasefire truce.

But under that truce, Israel was also meant to withdraw all of its forces from south Lebanon. Despite the deal, its troops remained at five south Lebanon positions that they deem "strategic", as several experts said Israel's ongoing troop presence along the border played into Hezbollah's hands. Israel has also continued to carry out near-daily strikes against Lebanon, saying it is targeting members of Hezbollah who are breaching the truce agreement.

According to Geagea, Hezbollah should first abide by the ceasefire agreement, and after that Israel would withdraw and stop its strikes and Lebanon would be able to "rebuild the state."

"We cannot accept that Lebanon's credibility and image be further damaged by reneging on the ceasefire agreement," Geagea said, calling on the new government and administration to remind Hezbollah's officials of their previous commitments.

killed at least 10 people on Wednesday, while another hit a children's hospital, medics said, as three European leaders called on Israel to end its blockade on aid.

Medics said the airstrike on the Yaffa School in the Tuffah area of Gaza City set fire to tents and classrooms. There has been no Israeli comment on the school attack.

Some furniture was still in flames several hours after the strike as people sifted through blackened classrooms and the schoolyard in search of their belongings.

Medics said at least 36 people had been killed in Israeli strikes across Gaza on Wednesday.
Update from the Times of Israel at 3:20 pm ET — the IDF response to accusations of attacking a school:
An overnight Israeli strike on a school-turned-shelter in Gaza City killed 23 people, according to local Hamas-controlled health authorities. The figures could not be verified and do not differentiate between civilians and terror operatives.

The Civil Defense, first responders who operate under the Hamas-run government, said it recovered another four bodies from strikes on two homes in the same area. It said there are more people trapped under the rubble.

The IDF and Shin Bet said the early morning airstrike targeted Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad operatives embedded within the former Yaffa School in Gaza City.

According to the military, Hamas and Islamic Jihad were using the school as a command center to plan and carry out attacks on Israel and troops.

The IDF said it took steps to mitigate civilian harm in the strike, including the use of a “precision munition, aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence.”

Turkey to Secure Up to 90% of Somalia’s Oil and Gas Revenue, Document Reveals
It sounds like all the risk is Turkey’s, as well as almost all the reward. On the other hand, were Turkey not taking the risk, there would be no reward for Somalia to receive a tiny share of. And really, given how corrupt Somalia is, none of it would get to the peepul, even were the reward a thousand times greater.
[Garowe] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...a NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all....
member, but not the most reliable...

will receive up to 90% of the revenue from oil and gas extracted from Somalia’s territorial waters under a recently disclosed agreement, sparking debate over its fairness, according to a report by Nordic Monitor published Tuesday.

The Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production Agreement, signed July 19, 2024, by the Ottoman Turkish Petroleum Corporation and the Somali Petroleum Authority, grants a Ottoman Turkish company exclusive rights to explore and produce hydrocarbons in three offshore blocks spanning 15,000 square kilometers. Somalia will receive only 5% of the total revenue, per the document obtained by Nordic Monitor.

Under Article 4.7, Turkey is entitled to 90% of annual oil or gas output through a "cost petroleum" system, allowing it to recover exploration and production costs before sharing profits. Turkey will fund exploration and equipment, with Somalia as the official partner.

The revenue split has drawn sharp criticism. Somali politicians, who approved the deal earlier this year, told Nordic Monitor they did not see the official document, fueling concerns about transparency. Somali government officials have not commented on the agreement’s terms.

Economic analysts and diplomats warn the deal could jeopardize Somalia’s financial future without renegotiation, given its estimated 30 billion barrels of untapped reserves. "This risks long-term losses for Somalia," said a Nairobi-based energy consultant, speaking anonymously due to the issue’s sensitivity.

The agreement is part of broader Turkey-Somalia cooperation. A February 2024 defense and economic memorandum commits Turkey to rebuilding Somalia’s navy over 10 years, reportedly for 30% of revenue from Somalia’s exclusive economic zone. A March 7, 2024, deal in Istanbul outlined joint offshore oil and gas exploration, followed by an October 25, 2024, agreement for onshore hydrocarbon cooperation.

Turkey’s seismic vessel, Oruc Reis, began a seven-month mission off Somalia’s coast on October 25, 2024, conducting 3D surveys across the licensed blocks. Escorted by Ottoman Turkish naval frigates, the vessel has completed nearly 80% of its work, according to posts on X. Ottoman Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said preliminary data suggests significant reserves, with plans for a drill ship to follow.

Turkey’s growing role in Somalia, including operating a military base in Mogadishu and managing its port and airport, reflects strategic ambitions to tap Somalia’s resources and counter regional rivals like Æthiopia. However,
some people cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go...
Somalia’s tensions with Æthiopia over a Somaliland

It is located in the southern coast of the Gulf of Aden with approximately 5.7 million residents as of 2021. The capital and largest city is Hargeisa. The government regards itself as the successor state to British Somaliland, which united from 1960 to 1991 with the Trust Territory of Somaliland (the former Italian Somaliland) to form the Somali Republic. Under the Siad Barre regime, Somaliadestroyed ninety percent of Hargeisa Per international law, once you're in, you gotta stay in, no matter how bad it smells....
port deal and Somaliland’s ban on Ottoman Turkish vessels in its waters pose challenges.

As Turkey advances exploration, the deal’s lopsided terms continue to stir debate over Somalia’s economic illusory sovereignty.

US Security Advisor: ISIS, Al-Qaeda and Al-Shabaab planning attacks on America
[KhaamaPress] U.S. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz warns that groups like ISIS, al-Qaeda, and al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
are planning attacks on America.

U.S. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz warned that terrorist groups like ISIS, al-Qaeda, and al-Shabaab are planning attacks against the United States. He stated these groups have developed "plans and schemes" for potential strikes.

In a TV interview on April 22, Waltz emphasized that these groups are actively working to target the U.S., and the U.S. government has been working to dismantle their leadership. He mentioned that the Trump administration has eliminated 74 known terrorist leaders thus far, though he did not provide specific details about the locations or identities of those targeted.

Waltz highlighted the ongoing importance of Afghanistan in counterterrorism efforts, referencing previous reports by The Washington Post. The National Security Advisor explained that terrorist groups in Afghanistan have been attempting to regroup and plan new attacks, similar to the September 11 attacks.

He also mentioned the successful efforts by the Trump administration in bringing home American citizens detained abroad, including the recent release of two American citizens from Taliban

prisons. This reflects the administration’s continued focus on countering terrorism and protecting U.S. citizens globally.

While these efforts have been significant, Waltz emphasized the need for continued vigilance. He stressed that the U.S. cannot afford to wait for another attack before taking further preventive actions.

As these threats loom, the U.S. government’s strategic focus remains on preventing terrorist attacks and securing the safety of its citizens. The importance of international cooperation and intelligence-sharing has never been clearer in the fight against terrorism.

Ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks continue to be a priority for the current administration, as it seeks to maintain national security and prevent further tragedies.

Barefoot Florida man wrangles 7-foot alligator with trash can in insane video
[NYPOST] When you get called away from Easter dinner to wrangle an alligator, sometimes you need to use the tools you have on site, which is what one Florida gator handler did on the holiday.

Video shared with FOX Weather by Mike Dragich showed the wild Sunday encounter in Jacksonville, Florida.

He said a woman was letting her dog out when she noticed the scaly tail of the 7-foot alligator slide by her patio.

''I responded from an Easter dinner with family, and improvised using a trash can to remove the alligator from the property,'' Dragich said.

A shoeless Dragich used two trash cans to corner and trap the visibly angry and hissing alligator. After getting the gator where he needed it, Dragich brought in a larger trash can with a lid to close the case on the intruder.

The woman who called Dragich can be heard cheering him on as he avoids the reptile's snapping jaws.

#2  Weeks before this news broke I viewed a different Youtube video showing a man using a single large lidded trash can to capture a gator of similar size, tipping it upright, causing the gator to slide to the bottom head first. He then wheeled the bin to a nearby body of water, tipped the bin & let the gator go back where he belonged.
Over Easter weekend I camped in a tiny state park in SE Georgia. It had a large pond with signs saying gators were present. People used canoes and paddleboats on the surface, none swam in it. Park personnel told me the gators were not aggressive and only dangerous to people in the pond or standing on the shoreline. Theoretically those gators could have freely crawled out of the pond and into the campground, but staff said that's never happened.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
After Lateef Green subway attack, how many more crimes will the NY left co-conspire in?
[NYPOST] How many more assaults, robberies, rapes and murders will New York's progressives let vicious street thugs and mentally ill vagrants commit?

On Friday, a homeless parolee with more than a dozen prior arrests, Lateef Green, went after an innocent straphanger with a knuckle knife and stabbed him multiple times, cops say.

Why was this guy free to roam around in search of his next victim?

Because New York's electeds love criminals more than they do law-abiding citizens.

Green had gotten sent up to Mid-State Correctional Facility in 2017 over a 2016 hate attack, in which he severely beat a man in Harlem after screaming, ''There's too many f—ts in this town.''

He was given a slap on the wrist sentence: three to six years.

AU Forces Convene in Kampala to Boost Somalia Stabilisation as Former Somali Pres. Farmaajo Explains Army Pullback is Strategic
Does this mean that things are going badly for civil society in Somalia and much too well for Al Shabaab, or is this just the usual diplomatic blithering and posturing? Please help me understand this, dear Reader — I don’t know how to read these tea leaves.
[ShabelleMedia] Senior officials and delegates from Troop Contributing Countries (TCCs) to the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) gathered in Kampala today for a high-level preparatory meeting. The session precedes an Extra-Ordinary Summit aimed at evaluating ongoing efforts and setting the strategic direction for long-term peace and stability in Somalia.

This summit was agreed upon during the recent official visit of Somali President H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to Uganda. Leaders resolved to convene under the theme "To Stabilize Somalia," identifying this as the mission’s ultimate objective.

Speaking at the opening of the technical and bigwigs’ meeting, Ambassador John Mugerwa, representing the Permanent Secretary of Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, described the gathering as timely. It comes in the wake of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) mandate ending on 31 December 2024.

Ambassador Mugerwa recalled that the African Union Peace and Security Council endorsed AUSSOM’s Concept of Operations in August 2024. He explained that the mission is currently in its first phase, focusing on repositioning troops and transferring key security locations to Somali forces to ensure a seamless transition of responsibilities.

"In the spirit of the common African defence and security policy, an attack on one is considered an attack on all," he said. "This is the spirit that has so far guided this struggle from the early days of AMISOM."

He underscored that AUSSOM’s success rests on Somalia’s ability to build and prepare its national security forces, adding that it "hinges on force generation, integration, mentorship, and the readiness of Somali forces."

Condemning the recent spike in attacks by the al-Shabaab
... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
, Ambassador Mugerwa commended the bravery of Somali forces and their international allies.

"We must not allow al-Shabaab to win," he said, stressing that the meeting presents a critical opportunity to resolve operational issues and establish a clear strategic path.

He further called for stronger financial and logistical support, stating, "The success of this mission will depend in large part on the provision of adequate, predictable and sustainable funding." He acknowledged the crucial contributions of the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
, the United Kingdom, and other international partners.

He conveyed condolences to those injured and honoured the soldiers from TCCs and Somalia who, "paid the ultimate price in the pursuit of peace and stability in Somalia."

Ambassador Mugerwa reaffirmed Uganda’s long-term commitment to Somalia, dating back to its initial troop deployment under AMISOM in 2007. He proposed the creation of a political body to oversee stabilisation efforts, backed by a robust monitoring and evaluation system, and advocated for political reconciliation between Somalia’s federal government, its federal member states, and clan leaders.

The meeting was attended by key military and diplomatic leaders, including Uganda’s Ambassador to Somalia, Prof. Sam Tulya-Muhika; Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, Lt Gen Sam Okiding; AUSSOM Force Commander, Lt Gen Sam Kavuma; and representatives from Djibouti, Egypt, Æthiopia, Kenya, and Uganda.

Ex-president Farmaajo defends army pullback as strategic, not defeat

[ShabelleMedia] Former Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo on Wednesday called on the Somali people to remain “vigilant against terrorist propaganda” as the national army undertakes what he described as “strategic maneuvers” in its fight against Al-Shabaab.

In a formal statement released to the newsrooms, Farmaajo stressed that the army’s recent withdrawal from certain cities should not be interpreted as a defeat. “This is not a sign of weakness,” he said. “It is a calculated repositioning as the armed forces build capacity and prepare for more effective operations against extremist elements.”

The remarks come amid growing public concern and speculation following the Somali National Army’s pullback from several key locations in recent weeks. Farmaajo, who served as president from 2017 to 2022, sought to reassure the nation by pointing to past military gains during his administration.

“Between 2018 and 2020, we successfully liberated numerous cities from terrorist control,” he said, urging the current leadership to build on those achievements by fostering national unity and political stability.

He also extended an appeal to Somalia’s international partners, calling for continued cooperation and assistance. “The support of our friends and allies remains vital to Somalia’s recovery and the strengthening of our national security institutions,” Farmaajo said.

His comments come at a time of heightened insecurity in parts of the country, where the al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab militant group continues to stage attacks targeting civilians, government institutions, and military personnel.

Somalia is currently undergoing a transitional phase, with ongoing efforts to build a cohesive federal security apparatus and strengthen local governance structures. The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) is gradually handing over security responsibilities to Somali forces, in line with a phased drawdown plan.

Farmaajo’s statement underscores the complex challenges facing the Somali government as it seeks to maintain territorial control, counter insurgency threats, and navigate political dynamics ahead of the next electoral cycle.

The view from India - Pahalgam Terror Attack, Day 2: Attari Border Closed, Indus Water Treaty With Pak Suspended, 1400 rounded up
See Day 1 here and here. Round up of Pakistan reports here. Go safely under God’s hand, Dron, wherever you are.
[OneIndia liveblog] Terrorists opened fire at a famed meadow near Kashmir's Pahalgam town on Tuesday afternoon, killing 26 people, mostly tourists, in what is the deadliest attack in the Valley since the Pulwama strike in 2019.

The 26 dead included two foreigners and two locals, a high ranking official said without getting into details.

Baisaran, about six kilometres from the resort town of Pahalgam, is an expansive meadow ringed by dense pine forests and mountains and a favourite with visitors from across the country and the world.

Armed terrorists came into the grassland, dubbed 'mini Switzerland', and started firing at tourists milling around eateries, taking pony rides or just picnicking, officials and eyewitnesses said.

Hundreds of suspects have been detained in Jammu and Kashmir, probe underway

Apr 23, 2025, 5:51 PM IST
Security agencies released photographs of the suspected terrorists involved in the brutal attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, which claimed 28 lives. The names of the terrorists are Aadil Guree, Aasif Shaikh , Suleman Shah and Abu Talha. The terrorists used code names - Moosa, Yunus and Asif.
Photo of the four miscreants at that time at the link, all in dark, Western civilian, long-sleeved shirts and slacks or cargo pants, harnesses with pockets filled with magazines (?), and their trigger fingers carefully laid along the side of whatever their guns (rifles? but three don’t seem to have shoulder stocks, so I’m confused) instead of on the trigger. The training we’ve been doing in Iraq and Afghanistan has had at least that one beneficial aspect — fewer are being killed accidentally because the bad guys know that serious military are careful about that.

Pahalgam Attack: Security Forces Detain Over 1400 Suspects, Probe Underway
[Oneindia] A day after cowardly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives and left several injured, security forces initiated an extensive crackdown. According to the reports, over 250 overground workers (OGWs) linked to terror groups have been detained in South Kashmir. Additionally, around 1,200 suspects of terrorism-related activities have been apprehended throughout Kashmir.

Indus Water Treaty Suspended: Major Pakistani Cities to Face Water and Power Blackouts
[OneIndia] The suspension of this long-standing treaty marks a significant escalation, as it will halt the flow of water from the Indus river system-which includes the Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej rivers-into Pakistan. These rivers are vital to Pakistan's water supply, supporting tens of millions of people.

India Scales Down Diplomatic Ties With Pakistan After Pahalgam Attack: Echoes of 26/11
[Oneindia] In the aftermath of the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir-where over two dozen tourists were killed and several injured-India has launched a sharp diplomatic offensive. New Delhi has announced a significant reduction in diplomatic mission strength, bringing down the number of officials in both Indian and Pakistani High Commissions from 55 to 30. This move signals a severe downgrade in bilateral ties without a complete diplomatic rupture.

Scaling down diplomatic staff, particularly Defence, Naval, and Air Advisors, is a serious diplomatic signal. By declaring them 'persona non grata', India is essentially accusing these officials of actions incompatible with diplomatic norms-commonly implying espionage, subversion, or indirect support to terrorism. This is not just administrative downsizing but a strategic message: that normal diplomacy cannot continue alongside terror.

The move to cut staff strength reflects India's stance of "Terror and Talks Cannot Go Hand-in-Hand." It leaves a bare minimum of diplomatic personnel, primarily for consular and essential services, while cutting off backchannel or informal communication avenues that often operate through military attachés.

Saifullah Khalid, LeT Terrorist And TRF Commander, Identified As Mastermind Of Pahalgam Terror Attack
April 23, 2025, 16:48 [IST]
[OneIndia] The Jammu and Kashmir Police are receiving support from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to probe the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy for the Pakistan-based group Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for this attack. This incident has raised significant concerns about cross-border terrorism.

Army sources have identified Saifullah Khalid, a top commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba, as the mastermind behind the Pahalgam attack. Known also as Saifullah Kasuri, he is believed to have been planning this assault for two months. During this period, he reportedly visited Pakistani Army camps twice to coordinate the attack.

Saifullah is closely associated with Hafiz Saeed, the chief of Lashkar-e-Taiba, and serves as his deputy. He is credited with founding both TRF and People's Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), which are considered proxies for Lashkar. His ties with Hafiz Saeed and alleged coordination with Pakistani military elements highlight concerns about state-backed terrorism against India.

Aoun-Hezbollah talks expected within ''hours'' as US asks Israel for pullout ''time frame''
[NAHARNET] Representatives of President Joseph Aoun and Hezbollah will meet in the next few hours to continue the discussions over the group's weapons, in order to ''pave the way for an official and declared meeting between President Aoun and Hezbollah to discuss disarmament,'' MTV has reported.

Hezbollah has meanwhile made demands that it sees as ''logical,'' which are ''Israel's withdrawal from the five points it is occupying in Lebanese territory, the release of the Lebanese captives held by Israel, and halting the continuous Israeli attacks and violations of the ceasefire agreement,'' the TV network said.

''These demands came after the United States exerted pressure on the officials in Leb

to set a time frame for the removal of Hezbollah's weapons, prompting Lebanon in turn to meet pressure with pressure by asking the U.S. to press Israel to withdraw from the five points,'' MTV added.

The U.S. side has meanwhile ''informed Lebanon that it has requested a time frame for withdrawal from Israel,'' the TV network revealed.

Sources informed on the negotiations meanwhile told MTV that Israel is yet to respond to the U.S. request.
Time frame? When Hezbollah surrenders completely or dies tired, whichever comes first. Ditto for Hamas in the south. I hope the Trump team is asking just to underline the answer.

Government Corruption
House Judiciary Committee Is Losing Patience With Fani Willis
[PJMEDIA] The ongoing sniping between the House Judiciary Committee and Fulton County, Ga., District Attorney Fani ''Cash Stash'' Willis isn't going to end anytime soon. It's been nearly two years since the committee began looking into Willis' ''politically motivated prosecution'' of Donald Trump
...Oh, noze! Not him!...
and 18 co-defendants — and that was months before the scandal erupted involving her relationship with her special counsel, who was underqualified to prosecute corruption cases but was embroiled in an affair with the DA.

In February 2024, the committee subpoenaed records from Willis' office; a year later, the committee demanded more records from the prosecutor's office. Willis has stomped her feet, and her staff has dragged its feet. And Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), the chair of the committee, has had enough.

''In a series of letters sent on Thursday, congressional Sherlocks pressed several members of the district attorney's staff to provide testimony and documents related to the since-defunct House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack,'' reports Law and Crime. ''Those requests, the letters note, are a long time in the making — and have long been delayed.''

''On February 6, 2025, the Committee wrote to you requesting documents relating to the Fulton County District Attorney's Office's (FCDAO) coordination with the partisan January 6 Select Committee during its politically-motivated prosecution of President Donald J. Trump, and that you appear for a transcribed interview,'' begins a letter to Chief Senior District Attorney F. McDonald Wakeford. ''The letter asked that you comply with our requests by February 20, 2025.''

''The committee announced Thursday that it continues to seek testimony and documents from four senior employees of District Attorney Fani Willis' office: Chief Senior District Attorney Donald Wakeford, Deputy District Attorney Will Wooten, Assistant Chief Investigator Michael Hill, and Assistant Trina Swanson-Lucas,'' reports Fox 5 Atlanta. ''Letters requesting their voluntary cooperation were sent Thursday afternoon.

Food For Thought
If Fani Willis were F. Willis, White Male and not a (LSD) Black Female. The (D's) could have already tossed him to the Wolves and portraying the person as a rouge.

So, are they stalling, in hopes of pulling off a Mid-term (D) win, which would allow them to hide and bury, the whole Illegal 2020 Coup process?

Rubio Announces Major Shakeup at State Department
More winning!
[Townhall] In another major shakeup within the Trump administration, Secretary of State Marco Rubio
...The diminutive 13-year-old Republican U.S. Senator from Florida, Secretary of State in the second Trump administration...
announced a sweeping reorganization of the State Department, aiming to cut over 700 positions and eliminate 132 of its 734 bureaus—a 15 percent reduction in personnel. This overhaul seeks to refocus the department on core national interests and regional diplomacy, moving away from promoting liberal ideologies. Rubio criticized certain offices for advancing left-wing agendas at taxpayer expense. The restructuring also hints at reducing or closing overseas missions and folding liberal values initiatives into regional bureaus.

On Tuesday, Rubio revealed that the overhaul would eliminate 132 domestic offices, reduce approximately 700 positions in Washington, D.C., and close offices dedicated to war crimes and global conflict. He argued that these changes are essential to improving the department’s effectiveness and ensuring its relevance. He described the current organizational structure as "bloated" and emphasized that it had a "deleterious effect" on foreign policy and the department’s overall impact.

Although no layoffs are expected immediately, a senior State Department official indicated that job losses are likely. The official described Rubio's plans as a "roadmap," with Undersecretaries of State tasked to create implementation plans within 30 days, aiming for leadership to carry out the changes by July 1. The objective is to reorganize the State Department to align with the Trump administration's agenda.

Rubio explained the changes in a post.

We are facing tremendous challenges across the globe. To deliver on President Trump’s America First foreign policy, we must make the State Department Great Again. In its current form, the Department is bloated, bureaucratic, and unable to perform its essential diplomatic mission in this new era of great power competition. Over the past 15 years, the Department’s footprint has had unprecedented growth and costs have soared. But far from seeing a return on investment, taxpayers have seen less effective and efficient diplomacy. The sprawling bureaucracy created a system more beholden to radical political ideology than advancing America’s core national interests.

Under President Trump’s leadership, we have a commander in chief committed to putting America and Americans first. As his Secretary of State, I am confident a reformed State Department will meet the moment and help make our country great once again.

State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce stated that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) was not part of the changes.

"DOGE was not in charge of this," Bruce said.

Swali Community, which is host to the Swali Ultra Modern Market, the largest market in the state capital, is close to several security formations in the state.

The area is also known as den of two rival cult groups locked in supremacy battle for territorial control.
A member of the House of Assembly representing Yenagoa Constituency I, Chief Ayibanegiyefa Egba, has condemned the attack in strong terms.

The lawmaker, during a visit to the community, described the attack, which resulted in the tragic loss of lives as ''barbaric'' and expressed her deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and the entire Swali community.

17.10 Russian troops launched a missile attack on the territory of the Korovin community in the Sumy region. There are no preliminary casualties. As a result of the enemy attack, civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged. The consequences of the missile attack are being clarified.

17:00 Since the beginning of the day, 83 combat clashes have occurred on the front. More than half of the Russian attacks are in two directions, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in an operational summary as of 16:00.

16.30 Russia should expand the capacity of its military-industrial complex (MIC) to prepare for future military conflicts. This statement was made by the head of the Russian regime Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin press service reported .

16.25 Since the beginning of the day, the enemy has already managed to use artillery and drones against Kherson. As a result of the latest shelling, four people were injured.

The shelling left a 78-year-old woman with a blast injury and a chest wound.

While at around 2:00 p.m., a 67-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were injured by the blast as a result of explosives being dropped from a drone.

Subsequently, Russian troops again attacked the city with artillery, as a result of which the 39-year-old man received an explosive injury, wounding his shoulder and leg.

16.24 In Marganets, the number of victims due to the Russian drone attack on a bus with workers of the enterprise has increased to 49 people. This was reported by the head of the Dnipropetrovsk OVA Sergey Lisak.

15:09 In the Toretsk direction, fighters of the 49th separate assault battalion of the Carpathian Sich captured a foreign mercenary who fought on the side of the Russian army.

"Fighters of the 49th separate assault battalion Carpathian Sich captured an exotic occupier - an African mercenary who came to fight for the Russian Federation. Foreigners from all over the world are climbing into Ukraine for rubles," the defenders noted in the message.

"FABs, Aleksandrova and Khortytskaya streets. Two people were injured. One of them is in extremely serious condition," he wrote on Telegram.

12.56 Ukraine is currently heroically defending itself and has military and financial assistance from its allies, so there is no reason for it to capitulate. The stake in the war is for Ukraine to determine for itself what compromises it can agree to. This was stated by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski during his speech on Wednesday, April 23, in the Polish Sejm on the tasks of the foreign policy of the Republic of Poland for 2025.

12:55 The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has codified and approved for use the General Chereshnya unmanned FPV aircraft complex.

The complex's copters are based on frames of different sizes. These aircraft have powerful electric motors. Depending on the frame size, drones can carry an explosive charge designed to destroy enemy armored vehicles, cars, and dugouts.

India-Pakistan
Pahalgam round-up, Day 2, Part II: Pak Defence analysts call Pahalgam attack possible ''false flag operation'' by India, and more from Pakland
Of course they did, since the Mighty Pak Army planned, trained, funded, and guarded the execution of it. Enjoy your dry riverbeds, O Pakistanis, while you ponder how it all went so horribly wrong. See here for the Indian view of Day 2 of the Pahalgam attack.
[GEO.TV] Defence analysts are sceptical of the recent attack in Pahalgam, a hill station in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
(IIOJK), that resulted in the deaths of 26 tourists, including a navy officer, suggesting it could be part of a planned false flag operation by India.

At least 17 people were also injured in the shooting on Tuesday in the Baisaran valley in the Pahalgam area. The dead included 25 Indians and one Nepalese national, police said.

It was the worst attack on civilians in India since the 2008 Mumbai shootings, and shattered the relative calm in Kashmir, where tourism has boomed as an anti-India insurgency, opens new tab has waned in recent years.

Defence expert, Brigadier (retd) Ahmed Saeed Minhas, denounced Indian media for blaming Pakistain without evidence, pointing out that the attack occurred 400 kilometres inside IIOJK.

Talking to Geo News, Brig Minhas referred to India's past response, mentioning that Pakistain showed great restraint in 2019 by returning Indian pilot Abhinandan safely.

Another analyst, Brigadier (retd) Rashid Wali, also raised questions about India's approach, noting that propaganda against Pakistain started doing the rounds almost immediately after the attack, with Indian media spreading baseless claims.

"If India attempts any action, it may face embarrassment like the Balakot episode," he warned.

Former senator, Mushahid Hussain Syed, who is also a veteran foreign affairs expert, condemned India's practice of jumping to blaming Pakistain following terror incidents in India or IIOJK.

He called it an "automated response" by the Indian government and mentioned that such actions, like the Jaffer Express attack and now the Pahalgam incident, fit into India's routine of shifting blame without investigation.

Commenting on India's allegations, national security expert Syed Muhammad Ali said that New Delhi's alleged ''false flag operation'' serves to defame Islam, Pakistain, and the Kashmiri people, while distracting from domestic issues.

India pledges strong response after IIOJK attack kills 26 tourists
[GEO.TV] Indian security forces launched a massive hunt on Wednesday for attackers suspected of killing 26 men at a tourist destination in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) in the worst attack on civilians in nearly two decades, with New Delhi pledging a strong response.

At least 17 people were also injured in the shooting that took place on Tuesday in the Baisaran valley in the Pahalgam area of the scenic, Himalayan federal territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The dead included 25 Indians and one Nepalese national, police said.

It was the worst attack on civilians since the 2008 Mumbai shootings, and shattered the relative calm in IIOJK, where tourism has boomed as an anti-India insurgency has waned in recent years.

India suspends Indus Water Treaty, bans entry of Pakistanis
[GEO.TV] India on Wednesday suspended the Indus Water Treaty and banned the entry of Pak nationals, a day after the killing of at least 26 tourists in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

The new measures announced by New Delhi mark a sharp escalation between the two nuclear-armed South Asian nations.

Speaking to journalists after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security — India's highest decision-making body on national security, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) detailed five measures as part of what officials called a "decisive response to cross-border terrorism".

"The Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 will be held in abeyance with immediate effect, until Pakistain credibly and irrevocably abjures its support for cross-border terrorism", Indian diplomat Vikram Misri told news hounds in New Delhi.

The Indus Water Treaty is a water-sharing agreement between Pakistain and India, facilitated by the World Bank. It gives India control over the three eastern rivers (Ravi, Beas and Sutlej) of the Indus basin while it gives Pakistain authority over the three western rivers (Indus, Jhelum and Chenab).

Furthermore, he said, the Integrated Check Post Attari would be closed with immediate effect. "Those who have crossed over with valid endorsements may return through that route before May 1, 2025," he added.

Death toll in Gaza war climbs to 51,305

In the past 24 hours alone, 39 bodies and 105 maimed were brought to hospitals across the besieged enclave. Many victims are still trapped under rubble or stranded on roads, unreachable by emergency crews.

Since Israel resumed its bombardment on March 18, at least 1,928 people have been killed. The total number of injured now stands at 117,096.

So we are to believe 51,305 have died since Oct 7th out of Gaza's 2025 estimated population of about 823,000.

That's a BIG IF at best.
But, with that said and using it for only discussion. That would indicate the IDF over the last 565 days since Oct 7th 2023, is only averaging about 90 Hamas and Islamic terrorist supporters a day.

Given, Hamas and its supporters murdered between 340 and 1,200+ civilians (depending on whose figures are used) at the Supernova Sukkot Gathering open-air music festival, in 1 day, back in 10-07-2023.

I guess the IDF has some serious catching up to do.

Russians made dangerous advances near Toretsk - DeepState
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespondent] The Ukrainian Armed Forces are engaged in heavy fighting in Donetsk region.

After many attempts, the enemy has found a weak spot in the Ukrainian Armed Forces' defense, and Toretsk's logistics may be under threat, analysts believe.

The Russian invading army has made significant progress southwest of Toretsk in the Donetsk region. This was reported by the DeepState project on Wednesday, April 23.

It was noted that the enemy occupied the villages of Panteleimonovka and Valentinovka in a relatively short period of time, occupied almost all of Sukhaya Balka, and is already attempting to storm Romanovka.

"The enemy has still not managed to break through the defense of the Ukrainian military in the Leonidovka-Petrovka-Shcherbinovka area. No matter what efforts they make, using constant pressure from infantry with the support of equipment - all to no avail. But a breakthrough through the positions in the area of the village of Panteleimonovka-Valentinovka makes it possible to develop success from the right flank of the Defense Forces in the Toretsk area and, in particular, to bypass the same Shcherbinovka," the report says.

Analysts write that after many attempts, the enemy has finally found a weak spot in the defense in that area and, after Romanovka, in their opinion, will try to reach Aleksandro-Kalinovye and Katerynivka in order to take control of the logistics of Toretsk itself.

Let us recall that as of 16:00, 16 battles took place in the Toretsk direction near Dachnoye, Krymskoye, Toretsk and Leonidovka. Five battles are currently underway, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.

Maryland illegal immigrants arrested after woman found murdered in woods: officials
[FoxNews] Federal immigration authorities said they found fake federal documents belonging to Keycy Robinson Alexi Barrera-Rosa

An illegal immigrant in Maryland was charged with murdering his girlfriend after her body was found in a forest outside of Washington, D.C.

The Charles County Sheriff's Office in Maryland announced Monday that 24-year-old Keycy Robinson Alexi Barrera-Rosa was charged with murder in the killing of his girlfriend, Lesbia Mileth Ramirez Guerra, 23, who was reported missing on March 31. Rosa's uncle, Rolvin Eduardo Barrera-Barrera, 37, was charged as an accessory.

Deputies said Guerra's body was found on April 17 in a "heavily wooded area" of the forest just outside of Cedarville State Forest in Prince George's County, Maryland. Her body was found buried, the officials added.

Guerra was the mother to two young children, officials said.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said its agents arrested Barrera-Rosa on April 5 in La Plata, Maryland, saying he entered the country illegally and is originally from Guatemala.

According to immigration officials, Barrera-Rosa and Barrera-Barrera were apprehended on April 10, 2019, near El Paso, Texas. They were served notices to appear before a Department of Justice immigration judge at the time.

ICE placed an immigration detainer on Barrera-Barrera with the Charles County Detention Center after he was arrested.

ICE said Barrera-Rosa is being held by the agency at its Farmville Detention Center in Farmville, Virginia, while he awaits extradition to the Charles County Detention Center for the murder charge.

According to FOX 5, the sheriff's office found suspicious and unusual activity at Guerra's home just one day after she was last seen. During their investigation, authorities found fake federal documents belonging to Barrera-Rosa.

Vernon Liggins, ICE Baltimore acting field office director, said this "marks a significant step toward justice."

"This heinous crime not only devastated a community but also reinforced the urgent need to prioritize public safety by identifying, arresting, and removing egregious illegal aliens who threaten our neighborhoods. ICE will continue to work tirelessly, side by side with our law enforcement partners, to safeguard our communities and uphold the rule of law," Liggins said.

Benue Killings: We need help, not state of emergency
[VANGUARDNGR] Amid the rising spate of killings in Benue, the State Governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, said what the people of Benue need is the Federal Government's absolute support and not a declaration of a state of emergency.

While speaking on Arise Television's ''The Morning Show'' on Wednesday, Governor Alia said the insecurity situation in Benue is not too much for him to handle, but he needs the support of the Federal Government to tackle the crisis.

He said that his administration has the capability to end the killings in the state, but he needs more support to drive killer herders invading Benue communities out of the state.

He said, ''What we need is emergency help for now. We need absolute support. The federal government is supportive, they sent us two armoured tanks. Our situation had changed. We had a better narrative, but what we need to do is to get our people back home, to drive out the invaders, the armed invaders who have brought in people who do not even speak the Nigerian languages we speak. Let them move back to wherever they came from and allow us farmers to go back to our ancestral land. Calling for any emergency does not occur here.''

The governor dismissed the claim that the state's security situation might be too much for him to handle. According to him, his administration has reduced the number of local government areas under attack from 17 to six.

This, according to him, indicates that his government can tackle the incessant killings and destruction of properties in the state by killer herders, some of whom he believes are not Nigerians.

Yerevan residents honor the memory of the victims of the 1915 genocide with a torchlight procession
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] Activists in Yerevan organized a torchlight procession to mark the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire.

As the Caucasian Knot" wrote , every year on April 23 and 24, residents of Armenia hold events in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire. Thus, on April 23, 2024, activists in Yerevan organized a torchlight procession in memory of the victims of the genocide.

The events of 1915 in the Ottoman Empire were recognized as the Armenian genocide by more than 30 countries, including Russia. The Turkish authorities do not consider those events to be genocide, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report " The Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire ."

Today, a torchlight procession dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide began in Yerevan’s Republic Square, News.am reports.

The event was organized by the Youth Union and the Nikol Agbalyan Student Union. Everyone was able to take part in the procession and carry a torch to the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex, symbolizing the struggle for recognition and condemnation of the genocide, the publication writes.

Let us recall that in 2023, events in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide were also held. The stories of ancestors who survived the genocide are passed down in Armenian families from generation to generation, participants in the memorial events told the "Caucasian Knot" at the time.

In particular, Arakel Hovsepyan reported that his grandfather was a deacon in a church. "When the pogroms began, the priest ordered him to ring the bells. From the bell tower, he saw the Turks throwing his mother and sister into a ravine. Another group of Turks locked the priest in the church and set it on fire. My grandfather jumped from the bell tower and ran home, where he saw his father and two brothers hanged," he said.

Virginia town backs away from dissolving police department after citizen uproar
[FoxNews] Purcellville, Virginia, town council initially proposed disbanding police force to save $3.2 million
That’s really stupid. Look at what happened to all those communities that defunded their police during the Black Lives Matter craze.
Amid backlash from residents, leaders in a Virginia town voted Tuesday to keep Purcellville's police force a week after they tried to eliminate it to save more than $3 million, according to reports.

The town of Purcellville, located in Loudoun County, Virginia, has found itself around $50 million in the red following the construction of a major wastewater treatment facility, and the council sought to tighten the town’s budget by disbanding the local police department and relying on the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office for law enforcement.

The initial decision to dismantle the police department led to recall petitions to remove several council members and Vice Mayor Ben Nett from office. Council members who proposed eradicating the force said they wanted to do so to reduce water bills for the town’s 9,000 residents.

But the council reversed course and voted to fund the police force at $3.2 million for 2026 at a jam-packed town council meeting Tuesday where outraged residents and other officials voiced their concerns about the proposal.
Good.
The result of the vote was met with cheers by residents in attendance.

Residents who spoke during public comments said they didn’t want to get rid of the police department to save on water bills and criticized the council's vote two weeks ago without having public comment on that particular motion, according to Fox 5 DC.

The four of you snuck agenda items in at the end of the meeting and took away my lawful right to comment on them," one resident said, ABC7 reports.

Sheriff Mike Chapman, of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, released a statement before the meeting saying the town council and manager had not discussed plans and said a transition could not happen in two months.

The vote came amid a criminal investigation into Vice Mayor Ben Nett for potential violations of Virginia conflict of interest laws, according to Fox 5 DC. Nett was absent from Tuesday night’s meeting.
Ah.
Nett was fired from the Purcellville Police Department on April 8 and within a week he voted to disband it with no effort to recuse himself, a letter from the Loudoun County Commonwealth's attorney states, per Fox 5 DC.
Not just Ah but Ah hah!
The council, meanwhile, has come under fire for other issues too, including appointing former Mayor Kwasi Fraser as town manager without the council interviewing the 82 candidates that applied.
Goodness — that’s an awful lot of candidates. Is the cumshaw especially good?

The nearly three-minute clip released by the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades shows the captive speaking to the camera. AFP was unable to immediately identify him, or verify when the footage was recorded.
Update from the Times of Israel at 1:45 pm ET:
The family of hostage Omri Miran said Wednesday that it was a “disgrace” that he is still being held in a tunnel on the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day, after Hamas published a propaganda video showing the hostage.

The family approved the release of a still image, but asked that the full video, in which the hostage is seen walking through a tunnel in Gaza and lighting a candle to mark his birthday, not be published.

Miran, who was kidnapped on October 7, 2023, from Kibbutz Nahal Oz, marked his 48th birthday on April 11, his second in captivity. He is married, with two small daughters.

Miran previously appeared in a Hamas propaganda video last April. Following the release of other hostages during the most recent ceasefire, Miran’s family reported receiving confirmation that he is alive from other hostages who were held alongside him up until last July.

Border czar Tom Homan indicated that this will not necessarily shield him from facing accountability for his actions.

The undocumented Democrat killed the two teens in a drunken driving incident, according to Fox News.

Oscar Eduardo Ortega-Anguiano was driving drunk at high speed in 2021 when he crashed into a car carrying 19-year-olds Anya Varfolomeev and Nicholay Osokin. Both teens were killed in the fiery

Now, California officials say he will be released early, sparking outrage from the victims' families and immigration officials.

Ortega-Anguiano has an extensive criminal history. He was convicted for burglary in 2005 and stealing a car in 2007. He was also convicted of battery and kidnapping in 2014, Fox News reported.

During an appearance on Fox News, Homan was asked about Ortega-Anguiano's release. ''Everybody asks why I get so emotional on network TV, why I get emotional when I testify, because I've met hundreds of angel moms and dads and hear every story.''

Homan continued: ''But I'll make this commitment right now. I work for Secretary [Kristi] Noem on this case, and I guarantee you, if they don't honor a detainer we'll have ICE agents outside that facility to take custody of this individual and deport him.''

Palestinian man indicted as accomplice in botched bus bombings
[IsraelTimes] Nablus resident, brother of key suspect, accused of helping to prepare bombs that destroyed a number of vehicles in February in Bat Yam and Holon

Military prosecutors have indicted a Palestinian man suspected of having helped to carry out a botched bus bombing spree in the suburbs of Tel Aviv two months ago, Israel Police and Shin Bet spokespeople announced on Tuesday.

The defendant, a resident of Nablus in his 30s whose name has not been published, is the brother of the suspected terrorist accused of planting the explosives on three buses in Bat Yam. The main suspect has so far evaded police capture.

On February 20, three empty buses exploded one after the other in parking lots in Bat Yam. The timed devices were apparently supposed to have detonated Friday morning when the buses were in use, but went off early. Giora Eiland, a former IDF operations chief, speculated that the timers were set incorrectly.

There were no injuries in the incidents. Police said they neutralized two other unexploded devices on buses nearby. Hebrew media reports said those devices were discovered in Holon.

According to the indictment, the suspect helped prepare the bombs used in the failed attack and helped his brother hide from Israeli authorities after he planted the explosives on buses.

Prosecutors said he was aware of the plot as far back as January when his brother showed him oxygen balloons he had purchased to make the explosive devices. The terrorist also asked his brother to purchase remote controls to activate the devices. The suspect bought nails to be used as fragments in the bombs and increase their lethality, prosecutors said.

In addition, he is accused of wiring at least one of the bombs to an alarm clock that was used as a timer to set it off.

He was charged with cooperating in attempting to cause death.

Police said that military prosecutors would indict three more suspects, all residents of Nablus in their 30s, over coming days. All three are suspected of having helped plan the attack.

Turkish soldier killed in Kurdistan Region despite PKK-Ankara peace talks
[Rudaw] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
’s defense ministry announced on Wednesday that a Ottoman Turkish soldier was killed by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) on the Kurdistan Region’s bordering areas. The incident occurred despite revived peace negotiations between both warring sides and the Kurdish group’s unilateral ceasefire.

The ministry stated that the soldier, Berat Mecit Day, was "seriously injured as a result of the attack carried out by members of the terrorist organization" on Tuesday. He departed this vale of tears on Wednesday at a field hospital despite medical intervention.

Turkey and the PKK have been engaged in a decades-long armed conflict. Ankara and its western allies consider the group a terrorist organization. Founded in 1978, the PKK initially struggled for autonomy but now seeks broader cultural and political rights within Turkey.

The development comes as peace efforts to resolve the Ankara-PKK conflict - which has lasted more than four decades and claimed over 40,000 lives - have gained new momentum in recent months.

Turkey’s pro-Kurdish Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) is spearheading the initiative to mediate peace between Turkey and the PKK. This includes meetings with Ottoman Turkish politicians and with tossed in the slammer
Please don't kill me!
PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan, who has been held in Imrali prison, northwest of Turkey, since 1999.

In late February, the DEM Party relayed a landmark message by Ocalan, in which he called on the PKK to disarm and disband.

The PKK responded to Ocalan’s message, expressing willingness to uphold his call and declaring a unilateral ceasefire with Turkey, while accusing Ankara of continuing attacks against its members. The group also requested a physical meeting with Ocalan as a precondition for the success of the grinding of the peace processor.

As part of its outreach, the DEM Party has been meeting with leaders across the Kurdistan Region to build support for the peace initiative. Its most recent delegation visit began Sunday and lasted three days.

Speaking to news hounds in Erbil on Monday, DEM Party politician Meral Danis Bestas asserted that in order for the grinding of the peace processor to advance, "Turkey's [military] operations must be halted and democratic steps must be adopted by all sides."

Days prior on Friday, Kamaran Osman, a member of the US-based Community Peacemaker Teams (CPT), told Rudaw that Ottoman Turkish artillery has continued shelling suspected PKK posts in the Kurdistan Region’s northern Duhok province.

Omer Celik, spokesperson for Turkey’s ruling said on Monday that "new developments" could arise later this month regarding the grinding of the peace processor.

Kurdish forces arrest 20 ISIS affiliates, foil mass escape attempt from al-Hol camp: Asayish

...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) forces of Evil were arrested during a six-day operation by Kurdish forces at the notorious al-Hol camp in northeast Syria (Rojava), the Kurdish forces announced on Wednesday.

The internal security forces (Asayish) in Rojava stated that "to ensure security and stability and confront the growing threats posed by terrorist cells and remnants of ISIS," Kurdish forces have "completed a security operation inside al-Hol Camp," which led to "arrest of 20 ISIS members and collaborators."

The operation also dismantled "a dangerous ISIS cell that had been coordinating with other cells to carry out terrorist activities." The Kurdish forces additionally seized "three Kalashnikov rifles, a pistol, several magazines and rounds of ammunition, in addition to military equipment."

Alongside the Asayish, the operation saw the participation of the Women’s Internal Security Forces, the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) and the support of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The Kurdish forces further thwarted "a coordinated mass escape attempt involving cells inside and outside the camp."

Al-Hol and Roj camps in northeastern Syria primarily house individuals with suspected ISIS affiliations. These camps are managed by the Kurdish-led SDF and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), with support from international organizations.

Al-Hol is the larger of the two, currently housing 34,927 individuals linked to ISIS, including 15,861 Syrians, 15,681 Iraqis, and 6,385 third-country nationals, according to data obtained by Rudaw English in mid-April.

Meanwhile,
...back at the wrecked scow, Agent 49 felt gingerly for his head. It was still there. He had been hoping differently...
Roj camp houses around 2,000 individuals, primarily women and kiddies associated with ISIS.

Kurdish forces have long warned of the growing threat posed by ISIS, particularly within these camps.

On Wednesday the Asayish stated that the recent "military and political" developments in the region, "have given ISIS cells the opportunity to increase their movement and carry out terrorist acts." They urged the international community to assume responsibility in addressing the issue of these camps and to support AANES in "effectively and safely managing this complex dossier."

ISIS captured vast swathes of Iraqi and Syrian territory in 2014, and lost control over much of them by 2019, but its sleeper cells continue to pose a security threat.

...mindless ferocity in a turban...
Pakistain (TTP) in two separate operations in the Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provinces. According to the Express Tribune, the first operation took place in a mountainous region of Punjab, where the provincial police, in collaboration with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), raided TTP hideouts.

Punjab police officials reported that, based on intelligence, between 20 and 30 bandidos Lions of Islam were present in the area, planning terrorist attacks against government installations and civilians. In this operation, 10 TTP fighters were killed. This significant blow to the murderous Moslem group came after intelligence confirmed their active plotting in the region.

The second operation occurred in the Mir Ali area of North Wazoo in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, where six more TTP bandidos Lions of Islam were killed during festivities with Pak security forces. Pakistain’s military reported that substantial amounts of weapons, ammunition, and explosives were discovered and seized from the murderous Moslems’ hideouts.

A security bigshot told the Dawn newspaper that "these operations are part of ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorist threats in Pakistain’s border and interior regions." The Pak authorities view these operations as a significant success in their battle against militancy.

This series of operations comes as Pakistain prepares to host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Islamabad, with the country’s officials stressing the importance of maintaining security throughout the nation. The timing of these operations reflects the country’s commitment to ensuring a stable environment as it welcomes international leaders for the summit.

These successful military operations underline Pakistain’s ongoing efforts to counter terrorism within its borders. As the security situation continues to evolve, it is crucial for the country to maintain its vigilance and strengthen its counterterrorism measures to ensure the safety and stability of the region.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent blasts the IMF''s woke ''mission creep''
[NYPOST] Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent ripped the International Monetary Fund on Wednesday for focusing its resources on promoting woke causes instead of economic stability.

Speaking at the Institute of International Finance forum in Washington, DC, Bessent accused the IMF of ''mission creep,'' claiming that the agency ''devotes disproportionate time and resources to work on climate change, gender, and social issues.''

''Focus on these areas is crowding out its work on critical macroeconomic issues,'' Bessent said. ''The IMF has been whistling past the graveyard.''

Papers written by IMF experts voice support for left-leaning causes such as net-zero and carbon taxes. It also takes part in providing data for the controversial global gender inequality index.

PA President Abbas demands ''sons of dogs'' Hamas free captives
[NEWARAB] Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
...aka Abu Mazen, a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial. While no Yasser Arafat, he has his own brand of evil, just a little more lowercase....>
slammed Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
on Wednesday, demanding the group relinquish control over Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, fully disarm, and free Israeli captives held in the enclave.

The comments were made at the 32nd session Paleostinian Central Council meeting, which some factions, including the Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine and the National Initiative decided to boycott, alongside prominent political figures.

Abbas crudely lashed out at the group, calling them "sons of dogs," before demanding they operate within the laws of a Paleostinian state. He urged for an independent and recognised Paleostinian state, which would be a part of the UN.

He went on to demand that Israel fully withdraws from Gaza, ensuring there are clear and sustainable mechanisms in place to allow for necessary aid and reconstruction. He insisted that the rebuilding of Gaza should not include any displacement of Paleostinian people.

"We are already working with our brothers in Egypt, as well as with the UN, in order to hold an international conference for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, which friendly countries can participate in, along with various international organizations," he said.

He further called on Israel to stop attacks, military operations, and the building of settlements in the occupied West Bank.

COMMITMENT TO THE PLO
Abbas also demanded that the Paleostine Liberation Organisation (PLO), which does not include Hamas, be recognised as the sole legitimate representative of the Paleostinian people, adding that there should be a single Paleostinian political system, law, and "national opinion".

He denounced Hamas for its 2007 takeover of the Gaza Strip, which took place after a conflict with his Fatah organization.

"Hamas, since its coup against Paleostinian national legitimacy in 2007, and its work throughout this period to separate the Gaza Strip from the West Bank and Jerusalem, causing six wars on Gaza - without exempting the occupation [Israel] of course from responsibility - has inflicted severe damage on the Paleostinian cause," he said.

He added that Hamas has, over the years, given Israel "free pretexts to carry out crimes in Gaza", saying that one of the pretexts was taking the captives from Israel in October 2023.

"The consequences of all these actions carried out by Hamas were the aggression, destruction and closure of future prospects for our people."

He added that this "makes it obligatory for us and our people to end its seizure of power and authority in the Gaza Strip completely, and to leave it to the PLO and the legitimate Paleostinian National Authority, to protect their interests and future."

Abbas said that at the Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
summit in March, he had called for the creation of a new role, vice-chairman of the Executive Committee of the PLO and the President of the State of Paleostine, referring the matter to the Paleostinian National Council.

At the meeting, he also called for amnesty for those dismissed from Fatah and called for them to be reinstated to their jobs after they submit requests to the Paleostinian leadership.

Abbas said he still stands by his comments at the summit, before highlighting that Paleostine is very close to a new catastrophe that "threatens our existence and threatens to liquidate our entire national cause".

He further denounced Israel's "barbaric aggression" on the West Bank and on Gaza, which he said violates international laws and agreements made with the PLO.

"Our vision to achieve a just and comprehensive peace and ensure security and stability in Paleostine and the region requires a political horizon based on ending the Israeli occupation—including the establishment of an independent, sovereign, viable and recognized Paleostinian state, which is a full member of the UN, and lives in security and peace alongside Israel," he added.
Update from the Times of Israel at 3:30 pm ET:
He further called on Hamas to cede control of Gaza to the PA, give up its arms, and become a political party.

“Hamas must hand over Gaza responsibilities and hand over its arms to the responsibility to Palestinian Authority and transform into a political party,” Abbas said.

Hamas has refused calls in recent months by Israel and the United States to lay down its arms.

Tom Homan vows action as California set to release illegal immigrant who killed two teens
[FoxNews] Homan tells ‘America’s Newsroom’ that he plans to works with Secretary Noem on the case

Outrage is growing after the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation announced it will release an undocumented immigrant convicted of killing two American teenagers, more than six years before his original sentence was set to end.

Trump border czar Tom Homan says he’s stepping in.

"I will work with [Homeland Security] Secretary Noem on this case, and I guarantee you, if they don’t honor the detainer, we’ll have ICE agents outside that facility to take custody of this individual and deport him," Homan said Wednesday on "America’s Newsroom."

Oscar Eduardo Ortega-Anguiano was driving drunk at high speed in 2021 when he crashed into a car carrying 19-year-olds Anya Varfolomeev and Nicholay Osokin. Both teens were killed in the fiery wreck. Ortega-Anguiano was later convicted of two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2022.

Now, California officials say he will be released early, sparking outrage from the victims' families and immigration officials.

"He's been deported several times, which means he's a felon," Homan said. "Re-entry to the country, deported. Deportation is a felony. We will prosecute him, and we will deport him."

According to ICE, Ortega-Anguiano has a long criminal history, including prior convictions for burglary in 2005, vehicle theft in 2007, and battery with kidnapping in 2014. Homan says those prior offenses, and his repeated illegal re-entry into the country, make the case especially egregious.

ICE has issued a detainer requesting custody of Ortega-Anguiano upon his release. However, California’s sanctuary state policies raise questions about whether local officials will comply.

The families of Varfolomeev and Osokin have pushed back on the release and have written letters to the state demanding that Ortega-Anguiano remain behind bars. They also fear that if he is deported, he could find a way to re-enter the country illegally again.

Homan, a longtime enforcer of immigration law, says these types of cases are what drive his passion.

"Everybody asks why I get so emotional on network TV, why I get emotional when I testify," Homan said. "I've met hundreds of angel moms and dads and hear every story. I'll never forget any of those stories. It's just a tragedy."

The border czar remains at the center of ongoing legal battles tied to President Donald Trump’s immigration agenda. Since the president’s return to office, his administration has faced mounting legal challenges, including over plans to end birthright citizenship and expand deportations of undocumented immigrants.

In May, the Supreme Court is set to hear a case involving three federal judges who issued nationwide injunctions against Trump’s executive order to end birthright citizenship for children of undocumented immigrants.

Homan also criticized recent rulings, including one by U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, who temporarily blocked the administration’s use of the Alien Enemies Act to deport alleged gang members to El Salvador.

But Homan says these legal obstacles won’t derail their efforts.

"There’s a reason they’re district court judges. They’re not national judges," he said.

"District court judges can't overrule the president's executive orders. This is what we got to fix right away in the Supreme Court so we can actually keep the president’s promise to the American people that we're going to remove national security threats."

Niger gov orders arrest of people with dreadlocks - Vanguard News
[VANGUARDNGR] Niger State Governor Umar Bago has ordered the arrest of individuals sporting dreadlocks in Minna, the state capital.

The directive was issued during Tuesday's high-level stakeholders' security meeting at the Government House.

Governor Bago instructed security agencies to not only arrest those with dreadlocks but also forcibly shave their hair and impose fines on them.

''We will have zero tolerance for rascality. Anybody that you find with dreadlocks, arrest, barb the hair, and fine him,'' Bago declared.

Nobody should carry any kind of haircut inside Minna.
''Nobody should carry any kind of haircut inside Minna. I have given marching orders to security agencies.''

The meeting, attended by security operatives and traditional rulers, focused on clamping down on what the governor described as rising criminality and disorder in the state.

Bago also issued a stern warning to parents, urging them to caution their children as his administration would begin implementing stricter security policies.

''Parents should warn their children. From this moment, it's 100% fire-for-fire,'' he said. ''Also, any house found harbouring criminals should be demolished. Niger State is not for useless people.''

Among other measures announced were restrictions on commercial cycle of violences and tricycles, which are now banned from operating between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., except for emergency medical purposes.

The governor also directed traditional and community leaders, including district, village and ward heads, to ensure accurate documentation of all residents in their areas.

Congressional Dems' support from young Americans hits new low with just 23% approval rating: poll
[NYPOST] House and Senate Democrats
...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects...
are at a low ebb among Americans under 30, with just 23% approving of party politicians in the wake of President Trump's return to the White House.

A Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics survey released Wednesday found that even as Trump's approval rating among young Americans remains stable, Democrats' favorability numbers have plummeted 25 percentage points since fall 2020 — to just 23% from the relatively dizzying heights of 48%.

In 2017, early in Trump's first presidential term, the survey showed congressional Democrats had a slightly lower approval rating of 42% from younger Americans.

Russia will never participate in negotiations on the deployment of European troops in Ukraine
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin.

[ColonelCassad] Russia will never participate in negotiations where the idea of deploying European troops in Ukraine is discussed (c) Matvienko

Based.

The war in Ukraine began, among other things, because of the threat of NATO troops being deployed in Ukraine and Ukraine being drawn into NATO.

Accordingly, agreeing to the deployment of NATO troops in Ukraine means actually abandoning one of the main goals of the SVO and will automatically mean Russia's defeat. Therefore, the Kremlin cannot agree to this.

The West knows about this, so they are deliberately throwing in this topic in order to torpedo Trump's separate negotiations with Putin.

It is easier to fight as we are now than to agree to NATO's presence in Ukraine and then still fight in worse conditions for Russia.

Missed chances
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Text taken from the Telegram channel of Oleg Yasinsky

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin is in italics:

[ColonelCassad] Until today, Zelensky had a real chance to save the Ukrainian statehood, which was served to him on a silver platter.

As a result of a hybrid mixture of British management and his own inadequacy, apparently, having "demonstrated principledness" on the Crimean issue, he missed this chance. In general, since his rise to power back in the distant legitimate times, there have been practically no chances for peace and agreements that he would not miss.

Personal ambitions and fear are the horses that carry him into the abyss. He has long known that Russia is not going to destroy him, and the British from the security and the "patriotic radicals" raised by his regime will liquidate him at the slightest deviation from the libretto. Having once called him a good actor, Putin was wrong. He is a mediocre player of the role of a good actor.

The least valuable thing of the Kiev regime - human lives - has long been turned into the most accessible, cheap and reliable tool for inciting hatred. The more Ukrainians die and the more victims can be shown on world television - the more guilty Pushkin and Vysotsky will be and the deeper the split of our people will be.

For the main victory - the victory of humanity - it is necessary to restore the unity of Russians and Ukrainians (the current tragedy and all its heroic and shameful manifestations from all sides only confirmed that we are one people). Corporate globalist power continues to work to prevent this. Supporters and defenders of the dream of Ukrainian statehood should thank it for the fact that it made this statehood impossible today.

The saucer with a blue and yellow border will no longer exist.Actually, today the American press is already openly writing that Washington is very unhappy (!) with the fact that the cocaine Fuhrer does not want to officially recognize Crimea as Russian. After 11 years of refusing to recognize Crimea.

In fact, in many ways, the Ukrainian occupation authorities, by constantly breaking Minsk-2 and then Istanbul-1, have eliminated for Ukraine the opportunity to first hold on to Donbass, and then Kherson and Zaporozhye, which have already been lost for Ukraine.

In the event of a breakdown of the current round of negotiations during May, it can be expected that by the next round of negotiations in 1-2 years of war, the Russian Federation will demand 6 regions as compensation for costs. By that time, the population of Ukraine will be even more reduced. Ahead is the mass disposal of women and 18-year-olds.

More than 49K people became victims of the crimes of the Ukrainians near Kursk
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] More than 49,000 people became victims of crimes committed by soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Kursk region. This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation following an operational meeting with the participation of the head of the agency Alexander Bastrykin in Kursk.

“More than 49,000 people have been recognized and questioned as victims in criminal cases, the necessary forensic examinations have been ordered, and the testimonies of victims and eyewitnesses have been recorded,” the publication states.

It is also specified that since the beginning of the invasion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces into the region's territory in August 2024, 191 civilians of the Kursk region have been killed, another 372 people have been injured, including 17 minors. The damage caused by the actions of Ukrainian militants to civilian infrastructure facilities and property of local residents is currently being determined.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, Russian investigators are recording and investigating numerous crimes committed by Ukrainian units during the illegal invasion of the Kursk region. Civilians are telling law enforcement officers about the actions of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers and mercenaries.

Thus, on March 29, the official representative of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Svetlana Petrenko, reported the murder of a civilian resident of the village of Pogrebki in the Sudzhansky District by militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. His body was found during an inspection of the house during the investigation of the terrorist attack. The next day, Petrenko also reported the discovery of new facts of looting and terrorist attacks committed by the Ukrainian military near Kursk. Among other things, they placed military equipment in private residential areas and deliberately set fire to the houses of local residents.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking on March 19, emphasized that all Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen, especially foreign mercenaries, who committed crimes against civilians while on Russian territory, are terrorists by law. The head of state demanded a thorough investigation of all the crimes they committed.

More from regnum.ru
The Investigative Committee has opened 175 cases against Ukrainian Armed Forces prisoners for crimes in the Kursk region

The Investigative Committee of Russia has opened 175 criminal cases against 290 captured soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) for crimes in the Kursk region. This was reported on April 23 by the press service of the department.

“175 criminal cases have been opened against 290 captured Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen, of which 41 cases against 98 individuals have already been considered by the court,” the Investigative Committee said on its Telegram channel.

According to the department, since the beginning of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' invasion of the region's territory in August 2024, 191 civilians from the Kursk region have fallen victim to Kyiv's aggression, and another 372 people have been injured, including 17 minors. More than 49,000 residents of the region have also been recognized as victims in criminal cases.

In addition, as part of the investigation into the recruitment and participation of mercenaries in combat operations on the side of Ukrainian formations, criminal prosecution is being carried out against foreigners who are involved in crimes in the Kursk region. Among them are citizens of Paraguay, Denmark, Brazil, Malta, Peru and other countries.

Thus, at the end of January 2025, investigators established the involvement of five Ukrainian servicemen from the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade in the murder of 22 civilians in the village of Russkoye Porechnoye. The militants admitted that from September 28 to November 24, 2024, they killed 11 men and three women there. In addition, they raped and committed violent sexual acts against eight women, who were also subsequently killed.

In early March, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin, said that over 3,300 mercenaries were fighting against Russia in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Later, President Vladimir Putin clarified that foreign mercenaries fighting in the special operation zone on the side of the Kiev regime are not subject to the Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

'We Understand Russia Better.' Trump Accuses Zelensky of Collapse of Talks
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Evgeniya Kondakova

[REGNUM] The meeting in London was supposed to be a moment of truth: would Europe and, most importantly, Ukraine accept the plan for resolving the conflict drawn up by the United States? But these hopes were not destined to come true. Everything went wrong from the very beginning.

According to information from leading world media, the plan calls for a halt to military action along the front line, recognition of Crimea as Russian, refusal to accept Ukraine into NATO, and the lifting of all sanctions against the Russian Federation.

But the meeting in London did not become decisive on the path to peace. In fact, it was actually disrupted before it even began.

A few hours before the talks, Volodymyr Zelensky publicly rejected one of Washington's key conditions - concerning Crimea, declaring in his usual rhetoric "there is nothing to talk about - this is our territory, the territory of the people of Ukraine." It is noteworthy that the leaks published by the press did not say that Kiev was required to recognize the peninsula as part of Russia; the United States was going to do this.

In addition, the Ukrainian delegation, represented by the head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, flew to London to discuss not Trump’s plan as a whole, but only one issue – the possibility of a 30-day ceasefire. Although, as demonstrated by the Easter truce initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kiev cannot shut up its guns and ground its drones even for 30 hours.

Such behavior on the part of the Ukrainian side angered the American leadership so much that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio refused to participate in the meeting almost before departure and did not fly to London. The heads of the Foreign Ministries of Germany and France also decided that they did not need to waste time on a trip to Great Britain. Instead of the ministers of the three countries, advisers to the heads of state went.

In the absence of Rubio and the US President's special envoy for the Middle East, Stephen Witkoff, who were leading the negotiations on Ukraine, the State Department announced that Keith Kellogg would represent the United States. Although his title sounds like special envoy for Ukraine, he does not play any key role in this area.

Apparently, he was supposed to explain Washington's position, collect the opinions of those present on this matter and prepare a note for Witkoff, who will soon fly to Russia again for talks with Putin. If in previous cases his plane was tracked on the Flightradar24 system halfway to Moscow or St. Petersburg, and the Kremlin kept saying "if it arrives, we will inform about it in a timely manner", now the meeting was officially announced.

“As if to rub salt into the Europeans’ wounds, Witkoff plans to fly to Moscow later this week for a fourth round of talks with Putin: at the real negotiating table,” laments the Financial Times.

And then the most interesting thing is that in a message published on the Telegram channel following the event in the British capital, Yermak listed participants from Ukraine, Great Britain, Germany and France, but Kellogg is not on this list.

So, there was not a single US representative at all?

At the same time, Yermak did not forget to swear an oath of complete loyalty to the American leader. “We are devoted to the peaceful efforts of US President Donald Trump,” he wrote following the negotiations with the Europeans.

Literally before the start of the meeting in London, US Vice President J.D. Vance made a categorical statement on the topic of settling the Ukrainian crisis: " We have made a very clear offer to both the Russians and the Ukrainians. It is time for them to either say yes, or the US will withdraw from this process."

The parties must stop hostilities along the line of contact and make territorial concessions, he explained.

Almost simultaneously, Rubio's interview with The Free was released, in which the Secretary of State also emphasized that the United States had done everything it could, and if it saw a lack of progress in the negotiation process on Ukraine, it would take on other issues.

"I would say that we have delved into Russia's position. Now we understand it better, since we have really talked to them after three years of silence," the diplomat added.

It's hard to shake the feeling that the more the Trump administration learns about the Ukrainian way of doing things, the more its understanding of Russia's actions grows.

With Ukraine, on the contrary, the misunderstanding is only growing. Reuters learned from its source what Kyiv officials are doing behind the backs of their American counterparts.

"On Tuesday, Ukraine prepared a document for the Europeans in which it stated that there would be no discussions on territorial issues until there was a 'complete and unconditional ceasefire,'" the article says.

This is precisely what caused the breakdown of multilateral negotiations in London, the agency notes.

Trump soon spoke out about everything that was happening.

" Vladimir Zelenskyy boasts on the front page of The Wall Street Journal that 'Ukraine does not legally recognize the occupation of Crimea. There is nothing to discuss.' This statement is very harmful to peace talks with Russia, since Crimea was lost many years ago and is not even a topic of discussion. No one is asking Zelenskyy to recognize Crimea as Russian territory, but if he wants Crimea, then why didn't they fight for it 11 years ago when it was handed over to Russia without a shot being fired?" the US President asked on his page on the social network Thuth Social.

It is inflammatory statements like Zelensky's that make this war so difficult to resolve, Trump stressed.

"He has nothing to brag about! The situation for Ukraine is terrible - he can have peace or fight for another 3 years before losing the entire country. I have nothing to do with Russia, but I have a lot to do with wanting to save an average of 5,000 Russian and Ukrainian soldiers a week who are dying for no reason. Zelensky's statement today will do nothing but extend the "killing field", and no one wants that! We are very close to a deal, but a man who "has no cards to play" must finally DO IT," he concluded.

So Zelensky now faces a dilemma: either recognize territorial realities and accept the American plan, preserving the country at least in this form, or lose Washington's support and continue to suffer defeat on the battlefield, since Europe will not be able to completely replace America in arms supplies and financing.

And Russia, having a military advantage, will meanwhile continue to gradually move closer to achieving the goals set by the SVO.

Chinese White: How Chiang Kai-shek Lost Everything and Remained the Winner
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Kirill Novikov

[REGNUM] Half a century ago, in April 1975, the Republic of China bid farewell to its president, Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek. After a month of mourning declared across the island of Taiwan, the body of the “dear leader” was placed in a copper coffin and buried in the Generalissimo’s favorite residence near Lake Qihu (which so reminded the president of his forever lost homeland).

The "Song of Memory of Chiang Kai-shek" was heard everywhere, written by the living classic, the author of "folk" songs Huang Yaotai. The ruling, and also the only National Party - the Kuomintang, organized a campaign of worship of the leader, whom they tried to call by one of his many names - Zhongzheng, which means "a just and correct person."

The president's funeral was attended by his closest partners in the fight for democracy and against communism - President Gerald Ford sent US Vice President Nelson Rockefeller. The former sworn enemy, Japan, was represented by former prime ministers Nobusuke Kishi and Eisaku Sato. Even the current enemy - Mao Zedong's "Red China" did not speak in the spirit of "a dog's death for a dog." Beijing newspapers limited themselves to a restrained and respectful "Chiang Kai-shek has died."

And yet, with this major political figure, military leader and patron of the economic miracle, “not everything was so clear-cut.”

The "Republic of China" he ruled at the time of his death occupied one small island - Taiwan, which had become Chinese only recently by the standards of the history of the Celestial Empire. One of the officially recognized victors in World War II, Generalissimo Chiang surrendered the gigantic mainland of China to the communists.

The Generalissimo and his National Revolutionary Army were compared to the Russian White Guards (which is hardly true), but the Kuomintang did not lose their civil war, but rather paused it. Vasily Aksyonov's fantasy about the white island of Crimea was inspired by Taiwan.

Revolutionary, general and dictator Chiang Kai-shek was called the Chinese Bonaparte, but instead of a dramatic and heroic ending, his biography ended almost with a happy ending. The island of Taiwan is not the island of Saint Helena after all.

In order to understand the paradoxical figure of the Generalissimo, one must turn to his biography.

"THE INDOMITABLE SPIRIT OF FIGHTING"
The future leader of the Chinese national revolution was born in 1887, the same year as Vasily Chapayev, Sidor Kovpak and Erich von Manstein. He was born, like his future enemy Mao Zedong, into a wealthy peasant family. But the Chang family - or Jiang, if you read it in modern transcription - traced its origins back to Prince Zhou Gong, no less. Confucius treated this ruler of the 11th century BC with respect.

Jiang Zhongzheng (or, by his second name, Jiang Jieshi, or Chiang Kai-shek in the obsolete transcription) was a representative of the 28th generation of the dynasty.

But the early death of his father and political turmoil left the family on the brink of survival. Many 20th-century dictators liked to complain about their difficult childhoods. Jiang Zhongzheng had good reason to say such things.

“Deprived of any protection after the death of her husband, my mother was subjected to the most ruthless exploitation by the neighboring scoundrels and the local gentry,” the generalissimo told his comrades in 1945. “ The efforts she made in the fight against the intrigues of these family invaders undoubtedly endowed her child, raised in such an environment, with an indomitable spirit of struggle for justice.”

Perhaps the idea of the antiquity of the lineage (in light of which the Manchu Qing dynasty looked like barbarians and upstarts) coupled with the hatred of "scoundrels and nobility" made Jiang Zhongzheng a nationalist and revolutionary.

THE RISE OF THE YEAR OF THE METAL PIG
The young man chose a military career for himself – but not in the Qing army. In 1906, he went to study in Japan, where he entered the preparatory school of the Imperial Japanese Military Academy. There he joined the democratic Chinese émigrés.

Their leader, Dr. Sun Yat-sen —still revered in both China and Taiwan—put forward the “Three Principles of the People”: Chinese sovereignty (primarily from the West), popular sovereignty and welfare, which meant nationalization of large-scale industry, and a progressive tax on the rich.

In October 1911 (or the year of the Metal Pig - "xin hai" according to the 60-year cyclical calendar), the "United Alliance" - "Tongmenghui" created by Sun Yat-sen became the driving force behind the military uprising, which grew into a revolution called, after the year, the Xinhai Revolution.

A graduate of the Japanese military academy, Jiang Zhongcheng acted under the command of the head of the revolutionary combat organization, Chang Qimei. At the age of 24 ("the age of Bonaparte's first victory at Toulon"), Jiang could already list the armed seizure of Shanghai and his native province of Zhejiang as an asset. Fortunately, the Qing troops were demoralized.

The Chinese October Revolution, which overthrew the Qing monarchy, occurred six years before ours. Bolshevik leader Vladimir Lenin spoke with delight of both the revolution in the East and the provisional president of the Chinese Republic, the founder of the National Party, the Kuomintang: "Sun Yat-sen... a European-educated representative of the militant and victorious Chinese democracy, which won a republic for itself."

Sun Yatsen would later personally communicate with Ilyich, advocate friendship with Soviet Russia, the Comintern and local communists, and invite advisers from Moscow. But in China itself, the revolutionary process did not work out.

The victorious democracy was overthrown by the local "Kornilov" - General Yuan Shikai - already in 1912. And soon a civil war began in the gigantic country, which continued in one form or another until 1949.

It was as if the Celestial Empire had returned 1,700 years ago, to the times of the epic "Three Kingdoms," when everyone was at war with everyone else.

"THE UNSHAKABLE CLIFF" AGAINST TROTSKY'S METHODS
The period from 1916 to 1928 is called the "era of militarists." Almost every province of the disintegrated country was ruled by its own general, and military leaders united into cliques - Anhui, Zhili, etc. - that fought with each other. As for the island of Taiwan, Japan had already captured it at the end of the 19th century.

In the Chinese south, in the port city of Canton – now Guangzhou – Sun Yat-sen’s nationalists were trying to gain a foothold, including Jiang Zhongzheng, who increasingly began to use the name Jieshi (or Kaishi, literally “unshakable as a cliff”). Another clique of generals could throw the Kuomintang into the sea – the National Party did not have a full-fledged army.

Sun Yat-sen decided to seek help from Soviet Russia. In 1923, a delegation from the Kuomintang headed by the leading associate of the democratic leader, Chiang Kai-shek, went to Moscow.

The newly formed USSR made a complex impression on Chang. On the one hand, he admired the structure of the Red Army and wanted to use its experience to create the armed forces of revolutionary China. He especially admired the conqueror of the Far East, the future Marshal Vasily Blucher. On the other hand, he was irritated by the open desire of the People's Commissar of War and Navy Leon Trotsky and the head of the Comintern Grigory Zinoviev to use his country as a stronghold of the world revolution.

The Comintern transformed the Kuomintang in its own image and likeness: the functionary of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Mikhail Borodin (Gruzenberg), a long-time friend of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, was sent to China. At Borodin's instigation, the Kuomintang acquired a clear party structure, and political commissars appeared in the army. A military academy was created on Huangpu Island (or Whampoa in Cantonese) near Guangzhou, headed by Chiang Kai-shek. The Whampoa Academy began training personnel for the new revolutionary army of the Kuomintang.

In 1925, having outlived his friend Lenin by a year, Sun Yat-sen died. The father of Chinese democracy left behind a zone of control of the Kuomintang with a rigid one-party structure. According to Dr. Sun, the Chinese were not ready for the third popular principle, democracy.

The Nationalists were ready to finish off the generals' cliques by taking control of the country. The Northern Campaign of the National Revolutionary Army in 1926–28 (which Marshal Blucher helped plan, and the Red Army supplied weapons and aircraft) demonstrated the effectiveness of Chiang Kai-shek's divisions.

"IT'S BETTER TO KILL A THOUSAND INNOCENTS"
But from the end of the 1920s, Moscow partners began to bet on an even closer force – the Communist Party. In turn, the leader of the right wing of the Kuomintang, Chiang Kai-shek, relying on the army, took the liberty of interpreting the teachings of Sun Yat-sen. He interpreted it as follows: it was time to break relations with the Comintern and look for new allies.

In April 1927, while the main forces of the National Revolutionary Army were heading north, Chiang Kai-shek organized a mass terror against all leftist forces in Shanghai, which resulted in the deaths of 12,000 people. Chiang Kai-shek himself said at the time that it was better to kill 1,000 innocent people by mistake than to let even one communist escape. Among other things, Chiang gave the order to "cleanse" the Kuomintang party of Communist Party functionaries who had collaborated with it. The execution list of 197 people included the name of a certain Mao Zedong, a member of the CPC Central Committee without the right to an advisory vote. The future great helmsman escaped death, and he was already vindictive at that time.

In response to the Shanghai massacre, the Comintern, with the approval of Joseph Stalin, gave the go-ahead for a Communist uprising in the rear Canton – which was brutally suppressed by the Nationalists. But in Hunan Province, the Communists staged the Autumn Harvest Uprising, led by Mao, who had earned authority in the Party leadership.

By 1931, in the territories in central China not controlled by the Kuomintang, the Chinese Soviet Republic already existed, with the Council of People's Commissars headed by the same Mao (not yet the sole leader, but already an authoritative comrade with whom Moscow was forced to reckon). The two-million-strong National Revolutionary Army of the Kuomintang, led by Chiang Kai-shek, fought the communists with varying success.

But that was only half the trouble. In 1931, Japan invaded Manchuria. A year later, the puppet state of Manchukuo was formed here, headed by the last Qing emperor Pu Yi, who was “restored to the throne.”

Chiang Kai-shek tried his best to avoid war with the Japanese Empire; from his point of view, peace should first be established within the country by destroying the communists and other leftists.

AN UNWANTED ALLIANCE AND AMERICAN RECOGNITION
The third disaster came from within the Kuomintang.

An incident occurred in the city of Xi'an - Chang was arrested by his closest associates, Yang Hucheng and the former hereditary master of Manchuria, the "young marshal" Zhang Xueliang. The marshals demanded that their colleague stop the civil war with the communists and unite with them against the Japanese. The conflict between the military leaders was "resolved" by Mao's closest associate, the future head of the PRC MFA Zhou Enlai.

The Kuomintang Chinese Republic restored relations with the USSR. But Chiang Kai-shek dragged out the creation of a united front with local communists in every possible way. This continued until the "Marco Polo Bridge incident" in 1937, when the Japanese invaded the Chinese Republic from Manchukuo. In fact, World War II in the Far East began two years before Hitler's invasion of Poland and lasted until the fall of 1945. It was in 1937 that the Japanese carried out a massacre in occupied Nanjing, which is considered an act of genocide in both the PRC and Taiwan.

In the same year of 1937, Chiang Kai-shek received the title of Generalissimo. However, the war with Japan was not going very well for China: its army was seriously lagging behind in technological terms, despite assistance from the USSR and the USA. By 1940, the Japanese controlled vast territories from Beijing to Shanghai and, attacking from their colony, Taiwan, captured Canton and other strongholds in the south.

At the same time, the alliance between the Kuomintang and the communists turned out to be fragile, because already in 1941, despite the advance of Japanese troops, Chiang Kai-shek resumed the fight against leftist forces and effectively unleashed a civil war again.

However, after Japan entered the war on the Axis side, the importance of the China front increased dramatically.

The head of the National Government of the Republic of China, Chiang Kai-shek, was invited to the Cairo Conference in 1943, where he negotiated alongside Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill. The leader of part of China managed to simultaneously confirm the legitimacy and defend the interests of the country. The Republic of China was promised the return of all territories occupied by Japan (Manchuria, the Pescadores Islands, and the island of Taiwan) after the war.

However, after the end of World War II, the civil war continued with renewed intensity. All attempts to form a coalition government of communists and nationalists failed.

The CPC, using Manchuria liberated by the Red Army and the "Special Region" that existed during World War II as bases, launched large-scale offensives. In essence, this was a proxy clash between the USSR and the USA. Especially if we take into account the agreements between Chiang Kai-shek and Harry Truman on aid in exchange for granting the United States and its army "special rights" in the Republic of China.

But the "red" People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) was clearly better prepared. Mao Zedong's million-strong army took Beijing, Nanjing, Shanghai, crossed the Yangtze and pushed the Kuomintang to the south. By the end of 1949, Chiang Kai-shek found himself in the situation of Wrangel, locked in the Crimea.

But the Generalissimo and his republic had somewhere to retreat.

FROM THE '228 INCIDENT' TO THE ECONOMIC MIRACLE
The remnants of the army (approximately 450,000 people), the party and state apparatus, officials and ordinary people, a total of up to 1 million people, were evacuated to Taiwan, which the Republic of China had recently acquired. The history of an alternative China began - under the cover of the American fleet, and then the nuclear "umbrella". With portraits of Sun Yat-sen and Chiang Kai-shek, who became president, but without any hint of the three people's principles.

The first years of the "island of China" were marked by white terror. This is what the events of February 1947 are officially called in modern Taiwan, when, under the pretext of opposing communism and separatism, the Kuomintang suppressed the uprising of the indigenous Taiwanese who demanded democratic reforms.

The "228 Incident" (date 28.02.1947), according to various estimates, took the lives of 10,000 to 30,000 residents of the island. But, as modern Taiwanese politicians believe, the white terror of the Kuomintang continued either until the death of President Chiang Kai-shek in 1975, or even until the political reforms of 1987.

In any case, martial law was in effect until 1975. The president suppressed all opposition, all power was concentrated in the hands of the Kuomintang. "Great China" nationalism was actively promoted, the culture of local Chinese was suppressed, and the languages of the island's natives were banned in the media and education. But the Washington curators turned a blind eye to all this.

In the post-war years, Chiang Kai-shek relied on both military and economic aid from the United States, which had a vested interest in the regime's survival, especially since the Korean War.

And later, Taiwan became a useful economic partner. Chiang Kai-shek, like the South Korean dictators and Singapore's enlightened autocrat Lee Kuan Yew, laid the foundations for authoritarian modernization. The island carried out land reform, introduced compulsory education, and curbed inflation. And by the 1970s, the Kuomintang began actively attracting investment and patronizing national capital, from the textile industry to high-tech. It is no coincidence that Taiwan is still churning out microchips for American IT giants, and island firms maintain offices in Silicon Valley. Even though the "Republic of China" has been in a gray zone politically since 1971 to this day.

WHO WILL RETURN THE ISLAND TO ITS HOMELAND?
Richard Nixon conducted détente with Maoist China, and it was not without his help that the PRC took the place in the UN and its Security Council that had previously been occupied by Kuomintang Taiwan. Since then, the number of UN countries that de jure recognize Taiwan as the "Republic of China" has been rapidly melting away. Now there are only 11 such countries: for example, Tuvalu, Belize, Paraguay, but, by the way, the Vatican too. But it is still covered by the Americans - and this will continue as long as the antagonism between Washington and Beijing persists.

The memory of the dictator and father of Chinese democracy is not so simple. Separatists from the Democratic Progressive Party, who came to power in the mid-2010s and are seeking to turn the “island of China” into the “Republic of Taiwan,” are uprooting this memory. At least three hundred monuments have already been torn down, all museums have been closed, and streets are being renamed. At the same time, the great-grandson of the generalissimo, Andrew Jiang Yuqing, moved to China in March of this year in order to develop his career on the mainland and facilitate the “convergence” of the two shores of the Taiwan Strait.

It is the leaders of the Kuomintang who are now finding a common language with Chairman Xi Jinping, and if Taiwan ever returns to its native harbor without a fight, it will be the heirs of Chiang Kai-shek who will do it.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Change of vector. Netanyahu gave Macron a diplomatic slap in the face
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Leonid Tsukanov

[REGNUM] France and Israel have fallen out. President Emmanuel Macron's intention to recognize Palestinian statehood amid the Gaza crisis has led to the cancellation of a French parliamentary trip to the West Bank.

Tel Aviv, with a stroke of the pen, banned entry to twenty-seven politicians at once, alarming the French establishment.

The Israeli authorities believe that they have thus nipped in the bud Paris's mistaken turn towards Palestine. However, paradoxically, Tel Aviv's actions have only accelerated the drift of the Elysee Palace.

TWO APPROACHES
Relations between France and Israel have developed in fits and starts throughout their history and have depended heavily on the personal positions of French leaders.

For example, under Charles de Gaulle, the Elysee Palace was a key supplier of weapons to the young Jewish state for almost two decades (until 1962).

Under François Mitterrand (in the early 1980s), Paris and Tel Aviv together sent troops into Lebanon to stabilize the situation and prevent the victory of pro-Iranian forces.

Under Nicolas Sarkozy (second half of the 2000s), France became a “bridge” between Israel and the EU, and also played a significant role in containing Iranian ambitions in the Middle East.

There have also been figures among French presidents who were less loyal to the Israelis, who have reduced to nothing some of the achievements of their predecessors.

Thus, de Gaulle and Mitterrand were replaced in 1995 by Jacques Chirac, who sympathized with the leader of the Palestinian rebels, Yasser Arafat, and advocated for the independence of Palestine.

And François Hollande, who came to power immediately after Sarkozy, launched a campaign to force Israel and Palestine to negotiate and normalize relations.

HARDENING OF THE STANCE
Current French leader Emmanuel Macron has long occupied a balancing position between the two camps of the French elite.

Under his rule, Paris has invested considerable effort and resources in the fight against anti-Semitism in Europe, as well as in creating a positive image of the Israeli government of Benjamin Netanyahu.

French state-owned tech firms have contributed significantly to the behind-the-scenes technology exchange between Israel and the Arabian monarchies long before the signing of the Abraham Accords in 2020.

At the same time, Macron reacted very harshly to the start of the Israeli army operation in Gaza in 2023, cutting off arms supplies to Israel and calling for an embargo on other EU countries.

In addition, Paris cancelled a number of major contracts for the purchase of Israeli equipment and technology; it banned the Jewish state's concerns from participating in the international exhibition of naval equipment "Euronaval".

However, relations reached a truly critical stage in April 2025, when the French leader announced plans to officially recognize Palestinian statehood in the coming months.

In doing so, the Elysee Palace demonstrated that it had abandoned the balancing act between the two approaches and had joined the line of Chirac and Hollande.

"INTEREST GUIDE"
Macron's decision to recognize Palestine, at first glance, was nothing out of the ordinary - by April, the Palestinians had secured the support of three-quarters of the world's countries, including European powers.

However, it was France's diplomatic maneuvers that Tel Aviv considered the most alarming signal. And there are several reasons for this.

The first is the changing nature of French foreign policy. Given Paris's increased influence within the EU, a hypothetical arms embargo at the EU level, advocated by the Elysee Palace, would severely affect the country's defense capability: arms imports would fall by at least a third.

Official Tel Aviv was also concerned by the fact that France, during the Gaza crisis, had become excessively close to Egypt and had begun to support its peacekeeping initiatives.

Cairo and Paris are jointly promoting the outlines of a future deal on Gaza, which implies maintaining Palestinian control over the enclave, which is not understood by some Israeli elites.

Populist politicians like Itamar Ben-Gvir call the Elysee Palace the "conduit of interests" of Egypt and demand a "decisive response" from the authorities.

Finally, France managed to straighten out relations with Turkey, which made further "friendship" with Tel Aviv against Ankara inexpedient. But it gave Turkish politicians a unique chance to turn the edge of French policy in the Middle East against the Israelis.

In the context of the intense rivalry between Tel Aviv and Ankara for control of Syria, France's contribution to the struggle could prove decisive.

COLLECTIVE PUNISHMENT
Tel Aviv decided to respond to the change in the vector of French policy in its own way.

Less than a week after Macron's statements, Israeli authorities barred entry to a group of 27 French parliamentarians who were planning to visit the West Bank to meet with Palestinian Authority officials (including activists representing Gaza).

Despite the fact that the delegation consisted mainly of representatives of left-wing parliamentary parties opposed to Macron, Tel Aviv's decision was perceived as a slap in the face to the entire French parliament.

Moreover, Israeli law enforcement officials justified the cancellation of visas by the letter of the “prohibited” law, which allows restricting entry to persons who may act to the detriment of the interests and security of the state.

Israel has previously used it to prevent individuals suspected of collaborating with Iranian authorities from entering the country.

However, in the last six months, at least twice the law has been transformed into an instrument of collective punishment – for the rapid expulsion of inconvenient European politicians from the country.

It should be noted that this is the second time that the French have suffered under the Israeli law. In February 2025, French MEP Rima Hassan was banned from entering the country for “systematically promoting a boycott of Israel.”

The French elites considered the first case of expulsion to be isolated and preferred to let the matter slide, but they no longer tolerated a mass ban on entry.

The parliamentarians have filed a complaint with Macron and demanded that he take retaliatory steps. Calls to respond to Tel Aviv's demarche have also come from representatives of the president's Renaissance party.

COLD REVENGE
So far, the spat between Paris and Tel Aviv has not caused serious damage to relations between the two countries.

After the parliamentary delegation's trip to the West Bank was disrupted, the Elysee Palace took a break to consider its response. The Israelis are confident that this behavior shows that Paris has understood Tel Aviv's concerns and will adjust its position on Gaza.

However, a bureaucratic slap in the face, on the contrary, risks accelerating France's drift towards the anti-Israeli camp. Especially since the political demand for this comes from both the opposition and government forces.

It seems that the Elysee Palace is indeed determined to act, but not hastily. The French authorities are systematically looking for a sore spot in Israel so that their response will be proportionate to the insult inflicted.

Somali Forces, Militias Advance on Aboorey Amid Clashes with Al-Shabaab
[ShabelleMedia] Somali Federal Government troops, supported by Macawisley militias, are advancing towards Aboorey in the Hiraan region, about 20 kilometers from Buulo-Burde. The town has been under al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
control for the past two weeks.

The joint forces are reportedly conducting operations on Aboorey’s outskirts, with escalating concerns over potential direct festivities with al-Shabaab. Recent weeks have seen heavy fighting between Somali troops and murderous Moslems, including a retreat by government forces following an al-Shabaab assault on their base in Aadan Yabaal, Middle Shabelle.

The renewed operations aim to prevent al-Shabaab from advancing towards Mokoqori and Buulo-Burde, further strengthening efforts to reclaim territory in the Hiraan region.

Multiple Sources told Radio Shabelle that operations will continue as part of a larger campaign to oust al-Shabaab from the region.

The goal is to regain control of Aboorey and nearby Yosooman, restoring stability and weakening al-Shabaab’s influence in the area. However,
if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well...
tensions remain high, with the possibility of renewed festivities in the coming days.
