7 'Minnesotans' Accused In Massive Scheme to Defraud Pandemic Food Program to stand trial
Why the single quotes around a key word in the headline? Let's cut to the chase:
[DetroitNews] The defendants going on trial Monday before U.S. District Judge Nancy Brasel in Minneapolis are Abdiaziz Shafii Farah; Mohamed Jama Ismail; Abdimajid Mohamed Nur; Said Shafii Farah; Abdiwahab Maalim Aftin; Mukhtar Mohamed Shariff; and Hayat Mohamed Nur. They have all pleaded not guilty. Their trial is expected to last around six weeks.

Opening statements are expected Monday in the fraud trial of seven people charged in what federal prosecutors have called a massive scheme to exploit lax rules during the COVID-19 pandemic and steal from a program meant to provide meals to children in Minnesota.

The seven will be the first of 70 defendants to go on trial in the alleged scam. Eighteen others have already pleaded guilty.

Prosecutors have said the seven collectively stole over $40 million in a conspiracy that cost taxpayers $250 million — one of the largest pandemic-related fraud cases in the country. Federal authorities say they have recovered about $50 million.

Prosecutors say just a fraction of the money went to feed low-income kids, and that the rest was spent on luxury cars, jewelry, travel and property.

THE ALLEGED PLOT
The food aid came from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and was administered by the state Department of Education. Nonprofits and other partners under the program were supposed to serve meals to kids.

Two of the groups involved, Feeding Our Future and Partners in Nutrition, were small nonprofits before the pandemic, but in 2021 they disbursed around $200 million each. Prosecutors allege they produced invoices for meals that were never served, ran shell companies, laundered money, indulged in passport fraud, and accepted kickbacks.

THE BIG PICTURE
An Associated Press analysis published last June documented how thieves across the country plundered billions in federal COVID-19 relief dollars in the greatest grift in U.S. history. The money was meant to fight the worst pandemic in a century and stabilize an economy in freefall.

But the AP found that fraudsters potentially stole more than $280 billion, while another $123 billion was wasted or misspent. Combined, the loss represented 10% of the $4.3 trillion the government disbursed in COVID relief by last fall. Nearly 3,200 defendants have been charged, according to the U.S. Justice Department. About $1.4 billion in stolen pandemic aid has been seized.

Young children chant 'Israel is a terror state' at Sydney University 'kids' excursion'
[Jpost] Children participate in a Sydney University protest, chanting anti-Israel slogans and painting Palestinian flags, organized by Families for Palestine with Women’s Collective.

A video showing young children calling for an intifada while participating in a pro-Palestinian protest at Sydney University spread across social media on Sunday.

In the video, the children are heard chanting in Arabic, calling Israel “haram” (forbidden in Arabic,) and a small girl is heard chanting, “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Rafah and Riyadh: Defeating Hamas is essential for normalization - analysis
[Jpost] Saudi Arabia may not publicly want Israel in Rafah, but Riyadh has been watching the war closely since October 7.

Israel faces several challenges almost seven months into the war in Gaza. Hamas is still not defeated, and international pressure on Israel is growing. A recent column at The New York Times suggested that “Israel has a choice to make: Rafah or Riyadh.” This is what columnist Thomas Friedman argues. “US officials tell me that if Israel does mount a major military operation in Rafah, over the administration’s objections, President Biden would consider restricting certain arms sales to Israel.”

The article also claims that Saudi Arabia and other Arab states could agree to an Arab peacekeeping force in Gaza. “Israel’s long-term interests are in Riyadh, not Rafah,” the article concludes.

Israel continues to fight Hamas almost seven months after one of the worst terror attacks in history which led to the largest mass murder of Jews since the Holocaust. However, the war in Gaza has not been fought with the urgency that one would expect a response to such mass murder would entail. Instead, Israel has approached the war against Hamas with slow, cautious operations of campaigns in Gaza, and the terrorist group continues to thrive in the Strip.

Now, most of the focus has moved to Rafah, the southern city in Gaza along the Egyptian border that is controlled by Hamas. It is believed Hamas has several “battalions” of fighters there and that it uses Rafah to control aid entering the embattled enclave and also uses it to smuggle weapons. Many Gazans who fled fighting in the north in October and November are now displaced in Rafah.Any Israeli operation in Rafah is now under the international spotlight and Israel has been encouraged to refrain from an operation there or to at least help the civilians move out of the way.

The assertion that Israel should end the war in Gaza, withdraw, and set its sights on normalization with Riyadh would appear to indicate that the Jewish state should basically give up on security for its citizens and its border in exchange for normalization with Saudi Arabia.

This is a strange theory. Most countries don’t sacrifice security for peace, and there is no evidence that giving up on security on the Gaza border will bring peace. If it was true that giving up on securing the Gaza border would bring peace, then how does one explain the lack of peace on October 6?

In October, Israel left the Gaza border relatively undefended and trusted that Hamas was deterred, a message conveyed to Israel repeatedly in recent years. Hamas is hosted by America’s major non-NATO ally Qatar and apparently Washington, Doha and others thought Hamas was not going to do anything against Israel.

This raises a key problem with the “Rafah or Riyadh” argument. On October 6 Hamas controlled all of Gaza, and Israel wasn’t contemplating any ground operation in Rafah, and yet there was no normalization with Riyadh. In fact, Hamas sought to sabotage any peace deal by launching its massive war. Now Israel is being told to leave Gaza and basically greet October 7 with a shrug to get normalization with Riyadh.

The fact is that if Israel sacrifices its security on the border for normalization deals, it will get more massacres and war, and the deals will be in jeopardy. This is because Hamas, backed by Iran, Russia, Turkey and other countries, are all seeking to sabotage the normalization agreements and Abraham Accords. It should be recalled that before the UAE agreed to the accords, Turkey threatened to break relations with Abu Dhabi if it proceeded.

In short, the pro-Iran axis in the region has systematically sought to prevent normalization between Israel and other states. October 7 was one of those attempts.

DHS Keeps Detention Space Unfilled as Criminal Illegals End Up in U.S.
[Breitbart] President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) continues to keep detention space unfilled as several recent cases revealed that criminal illegal aliens were released into American communities after crossing the United States-Mexico border.

As of April 25, DHS had just a little more than 34,000 illegal aliens in its detention facilities — a fraction of the 6.2 million illegal aliens who, by the end of Fiscal Year 2023, are in deportation proceedings but are living throughout the U.S. on the Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) non-detained docket.

The low detention rate comes after Congress approved 41,500 ICE beds for the rest of the fiscal year, far above the 25,000 ICE beds that DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas requested.

At least 4 dead after Oklahoma tornadoes cause catastrophic damage
[FoxWeather] At least four people were killed, and several others were injured Saturday when devastating tornadoes tore through several Oklahoma cities during a severe weather outbreak that caused catastrophic damage to numerous homes and buildings and knocked out power to tens of thousands of utility customers.

Two deaths were reported in the city of Holdenville, and FOX 25 in Oklahoma City reports an infant is among the dead.

Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt reported two additional deaths during a news conference Sunday – one in Marietta and another in Sulphur.

The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management (OEM) said 14 homes were damaged or destroyed in Holdenville, and Highway 9 had been blocked due to debris in the roadway.

In addition, Oklahoma City Task Force One was responding to the area on Sunday to provide search and rescue support.

Significant damage was reported across the region, including in Marietta, where damage was reported to Marietta Hospital. The OEM said hospital patients took shelter during the extreme weather, and no injuries had been reported there. The storms also forced the closure of Interstate 35 North at the Texas state line because of overturned vehicles and power lines that were thrown across the roadway. The OEM said the Chickasaw Nation was providing support for the storm response in Marietta.

Kenya dam bursts: More than 40 killed in Kamuchiri village
[BBC] About 50 people have died in Kenya in a deluge following heavy rains and flooding, a Red Cross official has said.

People in villages near Mai Mahiu, about 60km (37 miles) from the capital, Nairobi, were swept away as they slept.

Rescue efforts are continuing to pull people out of the mud, with fears that the death toll could rise.

More than 100 people have been killed in floods that have devastated parts of Kenya in the last month.

A wide brown scar of mud, uprooted trees and crushed houses slices through the area of Mai Mahiu.

A roaring sound woke people up in the early hours of Monday as a tide of water crashed down from upriver.

Residents spoke of a night of frantic efforts to pull people out of the raging flood and dig them out of the mud.

12 Car Brands That Will Break Down Twice as Fast as the Average Vehicle
BLUF:
[GoBankingRates] Every year, Consumer Reports gives reliability ratings to every major vehicle model by asking members about problems they’ve had over the past 12 months.

Last year’s least reliable company, Mercedes-Benz (M-B), stayed unreliable and was ranked the second least trustworthy behind Chrysler, which was given a woeful average predicted reliability score of 18 out of 100. M-B (23), Rivian (24; not included in last year’s list ranking due to a lack of models available to rank), Volkswagen (26) and Jeep (26) round out the five least reliable brands, based on owner satisfaction surveys.

To put these rankings in context, CR’s top five brands ranked on average predicted reliability — Lexus, Toyota, Mini, Acura and Honda — all scored in the 70s, making them twice as dependable as many of the brands listed below, according to CR’s methodology. CR rates brands and models based on 20 weighted minor and major trouble areas from its members.

Egypt: Islamist Mobs Attack Christians, Set Fire to Homes
[LI] Riots began following rumors that Coptic Christians were planning to build a new church in the village of Al-Fawakher.

Egypt’s beleaguered Christian minority is once again under attack as Islamist mobs attack Christians and set fire to their homes in the southern province of Minya, the U.S.-based Catholic News Agency reported Wednesday.

The anti-Christian riots began earlier this week in response to rumors that Coptic Christians, one of the oldest Christian communities in the Muslim-majority Middle East, were planning to build a new church in the village of Al-Fawakher, media reports say.

Videos circulating on Twitter apparently show angry Egyptian rioters chanting ’Allahu Akbar’ and burning homes with joyful Arabic music in the background.

"The attack occurred after word spread that residents of the village, which is home to 3,000 Christian families, had obtained a permit to construct a church building," the watchdog International Christian Concern (ICC) reported. According to Islamic Sharia law, non-Muslims, or ’dhimmis,’ living under the Muslim-rule are not allowed to repair their places of worship, let alone build new ones.

Muslim rioters reportedly had tacit backing from the Egyptian security services. "Despite promises of safety from security forces, the cries of help from the archbishop and the local Coptic community went unanswered as the attack unfolded. Security forces arrived only after the attack, leaving a yet unknown number of Christians to perish in their burning homes," the ICC added.

The Copts, who constitute close to 10 percent of the Egypt’s 95 million population, face regular attacks from the country’s Muslim population and persecution from the state.

FBI's $139M settlement with Larry Nassar victims breathes life into Epstein accusers lawsuit
[FoxNews] DOJ agreed to $139M settlement for Nassar's victims, who accused the FBI of failing to investigate the Olympic doctor

The FBI’s $139 million settlement with more than a hundred victims of the disgraced Dr. Larry Nassar could set a precedent that would lift the chances of Jeffrey Epstein's accusers to prevail in a similar lawsuit, experts say.

"I think the Nassar settlement bodes well for the Epstein accusers," said Neama Rahmani, a Los Angeles-based trial attorney and former federal prosecutor. "It’s not easy to get damages from the government for its failure to act."

The Justice Department agreed last week to pay $138.7 million to settle 139 claims from victims who accused the FBI of mishandling sexual assault allegations against the disgraced former sports doctor in 2015 and 2016.

"Civil liability against government agencies or employees usually requires an affirmative act such as police brutality or a civil rights violation," Rahmani added. "The fact that the Nassar victims were able to secure a nine-figure settlement means the Epstein plaintiffs will try to follow the same playbook."

In 2022, the Justice Department paid a $127.5 million settlement in lawsuits over the 2018 Parkland, Florida, school shooting.

That is another example that could benefit Epstein’s accusers, according to former FBI agent Nicole Parker, who investigated the aftermath in Parkland.

"It's setting a precedent, as did Parkland, although that was not sexual in nature," she told Fox News Digital. "When the FBI drops the ball on these egregious violent crimes, that’s a problem."

However, she added, part of the blame in the Epstein case falls on federal prosecutors who handed him a virtual slap on the wrist for sex trafficking charges in 2008. He spent 13 months in jail, during which he was allowed work-release and allegedly continued to abuse victims.

There are some differences.

Nassar was convicted of his crimes, while Epstein died before going to trial. Despite a series of lawsuits against rich and powerful men in his orbit, only his right-hand woman, Ghislaine Maxwell, was criminally convicted. She is appealing.

Nassar worked at Michigan State University and was the team doctor at USA Gymnastics in Indianapolis. Several current and former athletes, including Simone Biles, McKayla Maroney, Aly Raisman and Maggie Nichols, all testified at a 2021 Senate hearing that the FBI failed to act on their complaints against him.

In February, a dozen Jane Does filed a lawsuit against the U.S. government, alleging that the FBI failed to properly investigate the financier's sex-trafficking crimes as far back as the 1990s.

"Jeffrey Epstein’s penchant for teenage girls was an open secret in the high society of Palm Beach, Florida and the Upper East Side of Manhattan which was disregarded by the FBI," reads the lawsuit on behalf of 12 Jane Does.

"Epstein orchestrated an illegal sex trafficking ring for the elite and the FBI failed to adequately investigate the abuse, failed to interview the victims, failed to investigate the crimes and did not follow routine procedure or offer victim assistance notwithstanding credible reports and tips."

Allegations of child sex trafficking emerged as early as 1996, according to the lawsuit, when Epstein accuser Maria Farmer told New York City police and the FBI that she and her sister had been victims of Epstein and Maxwell. However, the FBI allegedly "'hung up' on her and did nothing to investigate the report," according to the lawsuit.

Allegations continued to crop up until Epstein was arrested for having sex with a child prostitute in 2005. Even his bank, JPMorgan Chase, alerted the government of "suspicious transactions" around this time. However, that information remained secret for almost 20 years, according to the lawsuit.

"The FBI’s repeated and continued failures, delays and inaction allowed Epstein and others to continue their sex trafficking conspiracy for almost 25 years," lawyers for the Does allege.

The FBI has a policy of not commenting on pending litigation.

"We are pleased that the FBI did right by the Nassar victims, but here, the FBI continues to cover up and refuses to accept responsibility to the sexual abuse survivors of Jeffrey Epstein even though Christopher Wray was ordered to do so by the Senate Judiciary Committee," said Jordan Merson, one of the attorneys for Epstein’s accusers.

Merson added that while the suit was initially filed on behalf of a dozen women, his firm now represents 30 of them.

Epstein died in a federal jail cell in New York in 2019 while awaiting trial on additional sex-trafficking charges. His death was officially ruled a suicide. His family and some experts say the evidence does not add up.

Britain
Scotland's Yousaf will resign as first minister - BBC
[JPost] Scotland's first minister Humza Yousaf will resign as early as Monday, the BBC reported, after the possibility of him winning a vote of confidence this week appeared to dwindle over the weekend.
Scotland is too white
“Scotland's First Minister Humza Yousaf to resign as early as today, the BBC understands," BBC News said, without citing a source.

Scotland's First Minister Humza Yousaf will give a press conference later on Monday, Times Radio reported Monday morning.

Yousaf quit as head of the pro-independence Scottish National Party (SNP) after a week of chaos triggered by his scrapping of a coalition agreement with Scotland's Greens.

He then failed to secure enough support to survive votes of no confidence against him expected later this week.

Economy
Mounting Evidence Is Pointing To A Nightmare Scenario For The US Economy
[Daily Caller] The U.S. economy is showing signs of stagflation as growth slumps down and prices continue to surge for average Americans, experts told the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Could continued government borrowing be the cause ?
U.S. annual economic growth measured just 1.6% in the first quarter of 2024, following a report of persistently high inflation in March of 3.5% year-over-year. The combination of both low growth and high inflation, in conjunction with continuously high amounts of government spending and debt, has led to signs of stagflation in the U.S. economy, which wreaked havoc on U.S. consumers throughout the 1970’s, according to experts who spoke to the DCNF. (RELATED: Fed’s Preferred Inflation Gauge Surges Higher In Yet Another Worrying Sign For US Economy)

"It’s not so much that we risk stagflation as we’re already there," E.J. Antoni, a research fellow at the Heritage Foundation’s Grover M. Hermann Center for the Federal Budget, told the DCNF. "We have basically pulled forward trillions of dollars of economic growth by borrowing from the future, but that must be repaid at some point. And it is highly inefficient as well."

Stagflation is a unique economic phenomenon that involves slow growth, high unemployment, and elevated inflation and is particularly difficult to address as solutions for one issue can exacerbate the others, according to Investopedia. The most notable example of stagflation occurred in the 1970’s, after an oil crisis.

#2  More than one hundred year addiction of borrowing to finance the MIC and forever wars ?

American Horses for the South African War, 1899–1902

"In the spring of 1902, American newspapers reported that Great Britain had established a military base in New Orleans, Louisiana, for the shipment of horses and mules from the United States to South Africa; they were to be remounts for the South African War, 1899–1902, the last fully horse-powered war in history. From the perspective of animal studies, while the horses and mules were not necessarily seen as mercenaries, they could be viewed as conscripted, foreign equine soldiers. With this in mind, when an article in an American news magazine asked in a headline, “Are the British Recruiting Americans to Fight the Boers?,” the answer had to be a resounding “Yes!”

Government Corruption
Joe Biden's Brother Embroiled In High-Ranking Qatari Scheme To 'Provide Wealth Of IntroductionsThrough My Family'
[ZERO] Qatar has had a lot of fingers in a lot of pies. While we knew about the EU's 'Qatargate,' investments with the Kushner family, and of course Sen. Bob Menendez advancing Qatar's interests, Politico reports that the Biden family's ties to Qatar "would constitute some of the closest known financial links between a relative of President Joe Biden and a foreign government," if courtroom testimony about Jim Biden's foreign fundraising efforts is substantiated.

In June 2017, Qatar's neighbors - led by Saudi Arabia, banded together and cut diplomatic ties with the country, citing its alleged support for terrorism. As a result, the country was thrown into a sustained crisis.

To dig themselves out, Qatari rulers began showering well-connected Westerners with gifts and financial benefits, according to Politico, "sometimes in the form of investment funding."

Around this time, Jim Biden was trying to raise $30 million for embattled hospital chain Americore - teaming up with Florida businessman Amer Rustom, CEO of the Platinum Group, who boasted of his ties to officials in the Middle East, as well as fund manager Michael Lewitt. Together, the three sought investment funding from various Middle Eastern sources for Americore and other ventures - "which came to focus largely on Qatar," according to a former Americore executive who spoke on condition of anonymity.

According to public records obtained by the outlet, Jim Biden leveraged ties to his older brother and "sought workarounds to restrictions on international money movements," including one discussion about trying to move money across a Middle Eastern border in the form of gold bars that may or may not have happened.

"My family could provide a wealth of introductions and business opportunities at the highest levels that I believe would be worthy of the interest of His Excellency," Jim Biden and Rustom wrote in a draft letter to an official at the Qatari sovereign wealth fund, the Qatar Investment Authority. "On behalf of the Biden family, I welcome your interest here," the draft continues.

Transactions related to the efforts are central to a recently-settled fraud case brought by the SEC, and are under fresh scrutiny as part of a federal criminal investigation in South Florida.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Boris Rozhin: The current regime in Ukraine must certainly be destroyed
Direct Translation via Google Translate.

An interview with Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin
:
[ColonelCassad] We recently celebrated the tenth anniversary of the beginning of the Russian Spring and the reunification of Crimea with Russia. Did you then, in 2014, have a feeling that these changes would affect not only your native Crimea and Russia, but would also lead to a restructuring of the world order?

After it became clear that Russia would intervene and a referendum would be held in Crimea, it was obvious that the “end of history” according to Fukuyama was completely canceled and the world order was entering a period of transformation. By 2024 this has become obvious to everyone. The old world order has collapsed, and we are living in a period of formation of a new world order, which largely depends on the outcome of military operations in Ukraine, although not only on this.

In your opinion, what were the main prerequisites for the beginning of the Russian Spring, what became the main trigger, the boiling point for the residents of Crimea and Donbass?

The main trigger, of course, was the Euromaidan, without which Crimea and Donbass would still be part of Ukraine. The coming to power of the Nazis in Kyiv and the course they proclaimed for de-Russification and de-communization launched the processes of the disintegration of Ukraine, which continues to this day. Apart from war and terror, the Ukrainian Nazis and their sponsors had nothing to offer the people, so the departure of Crimea and Donbass after the coup was inevitable.

What is your personal most vivid memory of the Russian Spring?

If we talk about the events in Crimea, then, probably, the day of the appearance of “polite people”, when the full realization came that the struggle that had already been waged would end in success. If we talk about the Russian Spring as a whole, then this is, of course, the Odessa Khatyn, after which it became obvious that the old Ukraine burned down in the House of Trade Unions and there was a difficult and bloody war ahead with Nazism, with which there could and should not be any compromise.

Now, 10 years after the reunification of Crimea with Russia, the Kiev regime formally continues to lay claim to the peninsula. If you follow the Ukrainian information space, how is this topic presented there now?

The enemy continues to feed fantasies about the return of Crimea and Donbass, emphasizing that he needs territories, not people. In relation to the people living there, they openly proclaim their intentions to carry out ethnic cleansing there, turning into the ethnocide of Russians and Russian-speaking people. Accordingly, all military propaganda of the Zelensky regime is built on theses related to the need to seize Crimea and Donbass and carry out ethnocide there.

How do you generally assess the picture of the world that Ukrainian information resources form for their audience? It is clear that this picture is fantastic, in many ways defiantly divorced from reality, but do the residents of Ukraine notice this? Aren't they tired of propaganda, which, in fact, only pushes them towards self-destruction?

Ukrainian resources can currently only exist under an information cloak in the absence of freedom of speech and opinion. By replicating the most monstrous lies, they are now not much different from the media of the Third Reich, whose population also lived under an information cap - adjusted for the technological level - and was completely confident in “victory over the Bolsheviks.”

In much the same way as Ukrainians driven to the front are treated to fables about a “quick victory over Russia,” we just have to endure another 100-200-300 thousand killed. The real denazification of Ukraine must be accompanied by the elimination of all such propaganda mouthpieces of the Nazi regime and the bringing to justice of those who were dirty in promoting the ideas and actions of Zelensky’s Nazi regime.

In terms of the information confrontation between Russia and the Kyiv regime: do you think it makes sense for Russian media to work with the Ukrainian audience now? What is the percentage of people there who are susceptible, or likely to become susceptible in the foreseeable future, to common sense? Or have those who were ready to be critical of the Ukrainian government long ago left for Russia and other countries?

Such work has been carried out, is being carried out and will continue to be carried out. Many people really think about what is actually happening in Ukraine, but it is important to remember that they live under conditions of actual internal occupation, when a regime of open terror has been established on the streets against any dissenters. Russia is certainly working in this direction, and it is producing results.

The rejection of forced mobilization in Ukraine is also, to some extent, the result of this work. The number of underground workers helping our military in Nazi-occupied territories has also increased. The partisans have become more active and have successfully attacked the enemy’s military and logistics infrastructure. And the further it goes, the greater the role that internal Ukrainian resistance to the Zelensky regime will play. This resistance must be worked with and supported.

Nazism in Ukraine began to be cultivated long before the Maidan, but after 2014 it became an openly approved ideology, and then an almost obligatory norm: in order to participate in public life, it is necessary to consider Hitler’s accomplices as “heroes” and demonize the Soviet Union. Do you think there is a clear parallel between modern Ukrainian Nazis and Bandera during the Great Patriotic War, or does this phenomenon now have a different scale or meaning?

These are direct successors of the work of Bandera and Hitler, which they themselves do not particularly hide. And Western sponsors are often the same ones who in the 30s armed Hitler for the “crusade against Bolshevism” and who in the 40s and 50s armed Bandera’s followers for the war against the USSR. Our old enemy has not changed, and Nazism has always been and remains one of the tools in its arsenal. Therefore, the current regime in Ukraine must certainly be destroyed.

Do you think that after the end of hostilities there will be a need for a tribunal against the Ukrainian Nazis, military and political leadership, or will these figures not survive our victory?

Those who cannot be destroyed during hostilities, if caught, must be tried, including through the application of the restored death penalty for crimes committed against peace and humanity.

Those who flee and hide will need to be caught and eliminated for a long time and systematically, as was the case with the militants of Basayev, Raduev and Maskhadov who escaped from Chechnya. The Russian special services have such experience.

Now we see that the bravado of Western countries regarding Ukraine is ending; it is becoming increasingly difficult for them to beg for money and means of waging war. In your opinion, could it turn out that the United States has collected all the economic and geopolitical bonuses and is ready to reset the map of Ukraine, leaving the Kiev regime alone with its problems?

At the current stage, the United States is not ready to abandon its support for the war in Ukraine, since, from their point of view, the longer the hostilities go on, the more they weaken Europe and Russia. At the same time, the costs of Ukraine for the United States are not fundamental.

The question remains of cutting costs and shifting them to the US’s European satellites, as well as compensating them by intensifying the plunder of Ukraine. This process has not yet been completed. The United States will not simply abandon Ukraine, because from Washington’s point of view, Ukraine is American prey. But predators don’t just give up their prey. To believe otherwise would be vain self-deception.

What is known about the dynamics of arms supplies to Kyiv from its sponsors? Which item of these supplies most clearly affects the actual balance of forces in the war zone?

The enemy is now seeking to increase the supply of 122mm, 152mm, 155mm shells, air defense missiles, various drones, as well as wheeled armored vehicles. The issue with the supply of heavy armored vehicles and self-propelled guns, as well as air defense systems, is more complex. Much depends on the issue of budgetary funding from the United States, as well as the pace of deployment of ammunition production in Europe. The transfer of aviation is expected in the summer-autumn of 2024.

How do you assess the pace of adaptation of the Russian army to the realities of modern armed conflict? For example, how is the situation changing in terms of providing modern means of communication, supplying UAVs to troops, and training personnel to use them? Does the pace allow us to hope for a radical turnaround in the situation in the conflict zone in favor of Russia?

Over the past year, the pace of adaptation of the RF Armed Forces has increased significantly, which was facilitated, among other things, by the efforts of the Russian military-industrial complex, which is increasing both the volume of military production and expanding the range of production of the latest weapons, created taking into account the experience of the Northern Military District. This is already contributing to changing the dynamics of events at the front.

Regarding the issue of providing communications equipment and UAVs: compared to 2022, tangible progress is visible, but it is still not sufficient to fully saturate the troops with modern communications equipment, drones and electronic warfare systems. There is still a lot of work ahead. It is also worth noting the role of military humanitarian workers, who meet some of the targeted needs of the troops, complementing the efforts of the Russian Defense Ministry and the military-industrial complex. The guarantee of victory lies in the unity of efforts of the front and rear.

In addition to direct military confrontation, we also face another challenge. The tragedy in Crocus City Hall raises with new urgency the question of the terrorist essence of the Kyiv regime: although the investigation has yet to clarify all the details, the very fact of the terrorists’ connection with Ukraine is beyond doubt. Do Kyiv's resources allow it to further increase terrorist activity on Russian territory?

The involvement of the Nazi regime in Kyiv and its sponsors in the West in the terrorist attack at Crocus seems unconditional. The enemy will not give up terror and will strive to continue acts of terror on Russian territory. The resources necessary for this will be provided by the United States and NATO. But in the event of a military defeat on the battlefield, this will not save the enemy. Such terror is the weapon of the doomed.

Just like the crimes of terrorists from ISIS* (explosions in Russia or a terrorist attack on board an airliner over the Sinai) did not save their “Islamic State”*, which declared war on Russia and was destroyed in Syria. The terrorists remained, but their quasi-state disappeared. This should be the case with regard to the Ukrainian terrorist state.

Persons involved in such terror are subject to destruction, since they themselves have long ago placed themselves beyond the bounds of the law and humanity. The methods of fighting them must be identical to the methods of fighting terrorists in Chechnya and ISIS terrorists*. The SBU and GUR MOU must be recognized as terrorist organizations.

And if we talk about the development of the situation on the battlefield, does the Russian Armed Forces now have enough forces to significantly push back the front line - for example, in the Kharkov region, in order to secure Belgorod?

At the moment, the main emphasis in recruiting troops is on contract soldiers and volunteers, of whom up to 30-35 thousand people are added monthly, which makes it possible to compensate for losses and increase the capabilities of grouping troops in Ukraine. At the same time, its numbers still seem insufficient for large-scale strategic operations related to the advance to the Dnieper.

PM Shehbaz, IMF chief discuss new bailout package on WEF sidelines
[GEO.TV] Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday discussed new bailout package with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum Special Meeting in Riyadh.

In his first meeting with the IMF chief since his re-election, PM Shehbaz reiterated his government’s commitment to put Pakistain’s economy back on track, according to a statement issued by the PM Office.

Pakistain is seeking a new long-term Extended Fund Facility (EFF) after a current $3 billion Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) expires this month.

"Both sides also discussed Pakistain entering into another IMF program to ensure that the gains made in the past year were consolidated and its economic growth trajectory remained positive," the statement added.

PM Shehbaz thanked IMF chief Georgieva for her support to Pakistain in securing the $3 billion SBA from the international lender last year that was now nearing its completion.

The development came a day before the expected meeting of the IMF Executive Board to decide on the final tranche of $1.1 billion under the $3 billion short-term loan programme.

IMF chief Georgieva appreciated the leadership of PM Shehbaz for timely securing SBA last year, as per the statement.

During the meeting, the prime minister said that he had directed his financial team, led by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, to carry out structural reforms, ensure strict fiscal discipline and pursue prudent policies that would ensure macro-economic stability and sustained economic growth.

The IMF MD shared her institution’s perspective on the ongoing programme with the premier, including the review process.

According to The News, Pakistain country made formal request to the IMF for seeking next bailout package ranging between $6 to $8 billion under the EFF with possibility of augmentation through climate financing.

have expressed grave concerns about the potential attack on El Fasher, a city sheltering tens of thousands of civilians displaced by the ongoing conflict in Darfur.

For weeks, the RSF has been mobilizing thousands of fighters, including some from Arab tribal militias, around the capital of North Darfur, raising fears of an imminent assault. In response, the army and allied rebel groups have bolstered their defences in heavily populated neighbourhoods crowded with war victims.

RSF Commander Ali Rizkallah, known as "Al-Savna" told Sudan Tribune from outside El Fasher that attacking the capital of North Darfur and other remaining army strongholds in the state is a "legitimate military objective".

He urged the army and former rebels to surrender and seek peaceful solutions to avoid an attack.

Al-Savna harshly criticized international calls for restraint by the RSF. He accused the UN and the international community of turning a blind eye to the army’s aerial bombardments of El Fasher and other cities, claiming they cause civilian casualties and destroy essential infrastructure. He further alleged that the army’s actions disrupt livestock farming and worsen the humanitarian crisis.

HUMANITARIAN CONCERNS
El Fasher remains the lone major city in Darfur that is not under RSF control. In recent months, the RSF has captured South, Central, East, and West Darfur.

Al-Savna denied blocking commercial goods and humanitarian aid from reaching El Fasher. He clarified that the RSF only intercepts vehicles carrying military supplies to the army garrison within the city.

He alleged that gangs looted humanitarian supplies and delivered them to their own people in the border cities of Tina, Ambro, and Karnoi, near Chad.

The RSF commander, who recently moved from Khartoum, asserted that the RSF facilitates the passage of commercial convoys from Libya and secures their travel from Malha to the Mellit customs station. He added that the RSF recently restarted the Mellit customs station and handed control to a local committee.

Al-Savna hinted at the possible release of captured fighters of Darfur groups detained after the RSF takeover of Mellit.

He emphasized that these individuals, some of whom are minors, are "people of Darfur" and will be reunited with their families.

The RSF’s capture of Mellit, a strategic town north of El Fasher, cut an essential humanitarian aid route to western Sudan. The ongoing tensions and potential attack on El Fasher raise serious concerns about the safety of civilians and further disruption of humanitarian aid deliveries.

#1  If the situation were not confusing in the Sudan, it wouldn't be the Sudan. It appears that the Misseriya and Rizayqat Arabs have made common cause with the Muslim African tribals. An attack on El Fasher is an indication that the region wants to rid itself of the Nile Arabs and take complete control of the huge area that comprises North and South Darfur. Amazing!

Sheriff's office IDs 16-year-old kid accused of shooting 10 at event venue in Seminole County
[CLICKORLANDO] A 16-year-old boy is accused of shooting 10 people at an event venue near Sanford early Sunday, according to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to Cabana Live — an event venue and restaurant located at 4380 Carraway Place — to conduct an area patrol due to a large crowd at the venue, the sheriff’s office said in a statement. Shortly after midnight, the deputies heard gunshots coming from the rear of the establishment, causing the crowd to disperse, the statement reads.

It was soon apparent that several patrons had been shot, as well as that a security officer working for the business had successfully apprehended the shooter, the sheriff’s office said. According to Sherlocks, the incident began as a verbal altercation that escalated and resulted in a total of 10 people suffering non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, primarily to their lower extremities.

The shooter, identified Sunday afternoon as Christopher Bouie Jr., was booked into a juvenile detention center, the sheriff’s office said.
Aspiring rapper? Turning his life around?
Bouie faces charges of possession of a firearm by a minor, use and display of a firearm during a felony, firing a weapon in public property and attempted homicide, according to his arrest report.

News 6 is naming and showing Bouie due to the severity of the charges he faces.

Bouie’s arrest report describes the fight in greater detail, stating it was a fist fight that he was uninvolved in at the time he "turned around and pulled out a black and silver handgun (9mm) and began shooting towards a crowd of people." The security guard who stopped Bouie was able to tackle the teen and disarm him "almost immediately" after he began shooting, according to the report.

Of the ten victims who arrived at the hospital with gunshot wounds from the incident, several have indicated they wish to prosecute, the report states.
Street gang initiation participant.
A social media post made by Cabana Live states it had reserved the venue for a private event and that the shooting happened outside of the establishment, adding its employees were safe and the business was back open for normal working hours as it cooperates with the investigation.

The underground reports the destruction of a group of foreign mercenaries in Nikolaev
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] After the strike of the Russian Armed Forces (RF Armed Forces) on Nikolaev, 14 foreign mercenaries were killed and eight were wounded. This was reported by the coordinator of the Nikolaev underground, Sergei Lebedev.

“Eight wounded were brought to the hospital in the Namyv microdistrict. They are kept separately, two are in serious condition, six are stabilized. According to observations of the resistance, at least fourteen dead were taken towards the morgue in the same residential district of Namyv,” Lenta.ru quotes Lebedev.

In addition, the underground worker clarified that after the morning strike of the Russian Armed Forces on Nikolaev, eight ambulances with flashing lights turned on arrived at the hotels where foreign mercenaries were located. The entrances to them were blocked by military and Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) posts.

As Regnum reported, on April 28, the head of the Nikolaev administration, Vitaly Kim, appointed by the Kiev regime, reported damage to a heat-generating infrastructure facility in the city as a result of the attacks.

Earlier, media in Ukraine reported about explosions in Nikolaev.

Earlier, the underground also informed about the Russian military’s attack on Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers who were in the building of a psychiatric hospital in Kharkov. The strike was carried out on a closed territory, into which only Ukrainian military personnel were allowed.

The underground on details of the attack on Ukrainian Armed Forces mercenaries in Nikolaev

The strikes of the Russian Armed Forces (AF) on Nikolaev fell mainly on the coastline near the city yacht club, on the Riviera (Sail) and Helen hotels, reported the coordinator of the Nikolaev underground, Sergei Lebedev, on April 28 in his Telegram channel.

“Before the arrival of the UAV, a resistance activist (underground - editor's note) recorded the presence of English-speaking foreign military personnel in these two hotels. Many Nikolaev residents reported the appearance of Canadians and Americans in the city, as some citizens reported: they look like Indians,” Lebedev wrote.

According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine assumed a possible strike by the Russian Armed Forces and were inclined to believe that this strike would be delivered to a military unit in the suburbs of Nikolaev in Konstantinovka and to the Balovnoye railway station.

“After our morning arrival in Nikolaev, our comrades report that no foreigners are visible on the streets today. Even in the places where they usually go. Even in civilian clothes,” he added.

As reported by Regnum news agency, Lebedev previously reported that after the Russian strike on Nikolaev, 14 foreign mercenaries were killed and eight were wounded. He clarified that after the morning strike of the Russian Armed Forces on Nikolaev, eight ambulances with flashing lights turned on arrived at the hotels where foreign mercenaries were located. The entrances to them were blocked by the military and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

Dan Rather returns to CBS for the first time 18 years after his disgraced departure
[NYPOST] Dan Fake but Accurate Rather
...the man who put the BS in CBS News. In 2004 he put on a news story that highlighted dissatisfaction with Lt. George W. Bush in the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam war. This was almost casually--but gleefully--debunked by the Blogosphere at large. Rather's face was rubbed in journalistic mud, four of his staff were fired, and within a short time his 43-year (about the same length as Muammar Qadaffi's) career had settled to the bottom, from whence he periodically emits a bubble, which proves he's not dead yet. See BS News, formerly respected, continues putter along, but there's something missing, like viewers...
returned to the CBS News airwaves for the first time since his bitter exit 18 years ago, appearing in a reflective interview on "CBS Sunday Morning" days before the debut of a Netflix documentary on the 92-year-old newsman’s life.

After 44 years at the network, 24 as anchor of the "CBS Evening News," Rather left under a cloud following a botched investigation into then-President George W. Bush’s military record. Rather signed off as anchor for the last time on March 9, 2005, and exited the network when his contract ended 15 months later.

With continued enmity between him and since-deposed CBS chief Leslie Moonves, Rather essentially became a nonperson at the news division he dominated for decades.

"Without apology or explanation, I miss CBS," Rather told correspondent Lee Cowan in the interview that aired Sunday. "I’ve missed it since the day I left."

Rather escaped official blame for the report that questioned Bush’s Vietnam War-era National Guard service but, as the anchor who introduced it, was identified with it. CBS could not vouch for the authenticity of some documents upon which the report was based, although many people involved in the story still believe it was true.

Radical Islamists Rally in Hamburg Calling for Caliphate in Germany
[BREITBART] The German city of Hamburg saw over a thousand Moslems rally on Saturday against the freedom of the press and other liberal values of the country while calling for the imposition of an Islamic caliphate.

Around 1,100 gathered in the central Hamburg district of St. Georg — a progressive area of Germany’s second-largest city often identified as a gay neighbourhood — to demonstrate against what they perceived as an attempt by the media to portray all Moslems in Germany as radical Islamists.

However,
some men learn by reading. A few learn by observation. The rest have to pee on the electric fence for themselves...
the rhetoric reported from the event indicated the radical positions of the group itself, with chants of Allahu Akbar (God is great or Our God is greater than yours). Meanwhile,
...back at the laboratory the smoke and fumes had dispersed, to reveal an ominous sight...
signs at the rally declare that a "Caliphate is the solution" and others read: "Germany = dictatorship of values", NTV reports.

The rally was also attended by members of the Moslem Interactive group, a successor to Hizbut Tahrir
...an al-Qaeda recruiting organization banned in most countries. It calls for the reestablishment of the Caliphate...
, an international Islamic fundamentalist political party seeking to institute a caliphate which was officially banned in Germany in 2003 for extremism.

Moslem Interaktiv, which was founded in 2020, previously organised a demonstration in St. Georg in October in the wake of the Hamas
...a regional Iranian catspaw,...
terror attacks on Israel, despite the city placing bans on anti-Israel demonstrations at the time. The group has also been active outside of Germany, having organised a February 2023 protest against Qur’an burnings in Sweden.

Hamburg’s Interior Senator Andy Grote cited Moslem Interaktiv earlier this month as being part of a new generation of Islamist gunnies using social media to spread their messages to the youth of Germany.

The report noted that despite apparently violating some of the principles of Islam, the influencers often using top of the line video editing with a "very professional appearance" as well as using sports cars and luxury brands in an apparent effort to gain more interest in their Islamist message.

Senator Grote said that since attempting to take over the streets of Hamburg in October, local officials have launched a crackdown on the group, saying: "We responded with consistent prosecution, including searches, and some social media channels were shut down on the initiative of the security authorities."

However,
some men learn by reading. A few learn by observation. The rest have to pee on the electric fence for themselves...
young Moslems in Germany are apparently still susceptible to the Islamist worldview. A survey of grade nine Moslems around the age of 15 this month found that nearly half (45.8 per cent) believe that an Islamic theocracy is the best possible government, while over two-thirds said the rules of the Qur’an were more important than the laws of Germany.

Hamburg has long been notorious for its active Salafi-Islamist community. The Al Qaeda 9/11 plotters lived there for some time, regularly worshipping at al-Quds Mosque, which the authorities closed in 2010. The membership were known to have links to jihadi groups in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Britain
King Charles not open to welcome 'toxic' Meghan Markle
[GEO.TV] King Chuck
...King of England, Scotland, Ireland -- at least part of it -- Wales, Gibraltar, the Falkland Islands, and places like that. The first King Chuck had his head chopped off, the second one was Good Time Charlie. The third once wanted to be a tampon and thinks we'll all be extinct within the next seven years...
is seemingly not open for reconciliation with Princess Meghan Markle
...unlikable American former starlet married to the formerly likable Prince Harry. Chock full of lefty political opinions, Markle's most important characteristic is that she is Black, even though she doesn't look it. Her mother, y'see, is half black and her father is white, which would make her a quarter Black. Her half brother described her (to her husband, before their marriage) as a jaded, shallow, conceited woman that will make a joke of you and the royal family heritage. Once married, she was too good for the Royals and she and Harry decamped to Beverly Hills, kind of like the Clampetts did, thus making a joke of Harry and the royal family heritage...
despite pressing a soft corner for Prince Harry

His Majesty, who is looking forward to welcome Harry as he is scheduled to arrive in the UK in May, does not hold the same feelings about Meghan Markle.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams reveals: "The King has always kept the door open to Harry, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he would invariably get a warm reception."

He adds: "It will take its time. But clearly the situation has changed in recent weeks beyond all expectations. I don't think it would be too difficult, it depends how you define reconcile. I think there's a long way to go before Harry is bringing over Meghan and the children."

Mr Fitzwilliams continues: "Meghan is toxic. I'm not saying the Sussexes would launch any attacks to the Royal Family at this sort of time. But what is very, very clear is that if they want to build trust, they have a long way to go.

#1  ...I suspect His Majesty may not really give a rat's patootie any more about Ms. Markle. He's a dad, and like any dad he wants to give his son one more chance. But now - and I think especially after he's gone - I don't think she's got any chances left.

And once it happens, King William will be even less inclined to be understanding. His great grandmother Elizabeth the Queen Mother never forgave the Duke of Windsor for abdicating, believing to the end of her days that his bailing on the throne eventually killed her husband. Wonder how much of that feeling might carry over to William, grieving for his father?

College protesters seek amnesty to keep arrests and suspensions from trailing them
[NYPOST] Maryam Alwan figured the worst was over after New York City police in riot gear arrested her and other protesters on the Columbia University campus, loaded them onto buses and held them in jug for hours.

But the next evening, the college junior received an email from the university.

Alwan and other students were being suspended after their arrests at the "Gazoo

The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. war.

The students’ plight has become a central part of protests, with students and a growing number of faculty demanding their amnesty. At issue is whether universities and law enforcement will clear the charges and withhold other consequences, or whether the suspensions and legal records will follow students into their adult lives.

Terms of the suspensions vary from campus to campus.

At Columbia and its affiliated Barnard College for women, Alwan and dozens more were arrested April 18 and promptly barred from campus and classes, unable to attend in-person or virtually, and banned from dining halls.

Questions about their academic futures remain. Will they be allowed to take final exams? What about financial aid? Graduation? Columbia says outcomes will be decided at disciplinary hearings, but Alwan says she has not been given a date.

“This feels very dystopian,” said Alwan, a comparative literature and society major.

What started at Columbia has turned into a nationwide showdown between students and administrators over anti-war protests and the limits of free speech.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Current information on the situation on the front line: April 28 (updated)
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[NewsFront] 23:34 Explosions were heard in the Kharkov and Sumy regions of Ukraine. This is evidenced by data from the official resource for alerting the population.

“Sumy region – a series of explosions. Kharkov region – explosions,” the message says.

21:55 Pervomaiskoye – Netailovo

Positional combat operations on the southern flank of Avdiivka. RF Armed Forcesmanaged to advanceup to 1.2 km in a westerly direction from Pervomaisky and take positions in the private sector of Netailovo.

The forward positions of the Russian Armed Forces in the eastern part of the village are under fire from the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

20:31 Telegram channel “WarGonzo":

114th week of SVO: main thing

Kherson direction.
Over the past week, there have been no significant changes in the balance of forces in this direction. Attempts continue to dislodge the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the basements in Krynki, without success. The work of enemy artillery and a huge number of Ukrainian drones make each assault as uncomfortable as possible for our soldiers. Air strikes can change the situation, but, apparently, the Russian Armed Forces do not yet have such a possibility.

Zaporozhye direction.
The fighting on the Rabotino-Verbovoye line continues, and the Russian Armed Forces are clearly seeking to take back the remnants of the territories that fell under the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the summer counteroffensive. Slowly but surely, Russian troops are advancing northwest of Verbovoy in an attempt to semi-encircle Rabotino, and are getting closer and closer to the eastern outskirts of this settlement.

The matter is complicated by the constant attacks of Ukrainian artillery, which generously sprinkles cassettes everywhere it can reach, dense mining (both ours and Ukrainian), and the active work of all kinds of drones. In Rabotino itself, heavy fighting continues, and the advance of our troops, among other things, is slowing down significantly due to the lack of adequate shelters. Most often, there is simply nowhere to gain a foothold on new frontiers.

Donetsk direction.
Here the initiative remains entirely with the RF Armed Forces. In the south, the fighting is predominantly counter-involved, with rare breakthroughs from the Russian Armed Forces. The zone of control west of Novomikhailovka is expanding, and the assault on Krasnogorovka continues. North of Pervomaiskoye, the Russian Armed Forces are trying to advance south, towards Nevelskoye. This settlement remains in this area the last serious fortification of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, where fighting has been going on for several years now, and now Russian troops must cut off the “pocket” between Pervomaiskoye and Nevelskoye in order to further advance to the west. But in the northern sectors there are daily advances of Russian troops. The Ukrainian Armed Forces were able to organize an effective defense only in Semyonovka and Berdychi, where fighting is still going on, but will inevitably end in a complete retreat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which has already begun.

During this week, Novobakhmutovka and Solovyovo were liberated, and Ukrainian troops also retreated from Ocheretino. The clearing of Novokalinovo and Keramika is underway, with further advance to the north towards Arkhangelskoye. The Ukrainian garrison, which had retreated from Ocheretino, retreated to this settlement, and Russian troops had already attempted to storm the outskirts of this village, but met serious resistance from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Now fighting is taking place on the approaches to this settlement.

Chasovoyarsk direction.
Over the past week, there have been no major changes in the front line, but the fighting continues with the same activity. The point, obviously, is not that the Russian troops have run out of offensive potential, but that at the moment they are preparing for further assault operations that will unfold after the Ukrainian defense is broken through directly within the city limits. FABs are flying at the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and artillery is hitting them, and Russian troops are striving every day to improve their positions for further advancement to the west.

19:45 Telegram channel “Fisherman":

Kupyansk direction: advance of the RF Armed Forces in Kislovka

Soldiers of the 272nd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 47th Tank Division of the Russian Armed Forces established control over at least the eastern part of Kislovka and hoisted the Russian flag there. Apparently, units of the 104th Troops Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were forced to retreat either to the west of the village or to neighboring Kotlyarovka.

Currently, Russian troops are clearing Kislovka, but the situation in the western part of the village is still hidden in the “fog of war.” It is noteworthy that Ukrainian resources do not particularly believe in maintaining the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces over the village and announce the withdrawal of forces to the south.

The control of the RF Armed Forces even over the eastern part of Kislovka significantly worsens the enemy’s position in Kotlyarovka, which is already in fact semi-encircled. At the same time, occupying the western outskirts of Kislovka will allow Russian fighters to finally close the ring.

The current situation gives the Ukrainian command two choices: try to hold Kotlyarovka for as long as possible at the cost of losses, or withdraw the bloodless forces to new defensive lines, where they try to stabilize the front.

At the same time, for the enemy, holding Kotlyarka is a losing tactic in advance, since Kislovka is located at a commanding height, which allows Russian troops to establish fire control over the adjacent territory. In addition, the liberation of Kislovka will also contribute to increasing the pressure on Ivanovka, located to the north.

18:40 Ocheretinsky breakthrough –map.

The Russian Armed Forces are expanding the zone of control in Ocheretino, the enemy is trying to strengthen positions south of Arkhangelsk and west of Ocheretino.

South of Solovyevo and Novobakhmutovka, the Russian Armed Forces advanced south. The enemy is gradually retreating to the west.

In the area of ??Semyonovka and Berdychi, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are also retreating to the west, the Russian Armed Forces have advanced and occupied landings to the west of the villages. In the Berdychi area they began to collect damaged NATO equipment.

Novokalinovo and Keramik are in the process of coming under the control of the RF Armed Forces. The cleanup continues in the villages. Part of the enemy forces has already retreated to Arkhangelsk.

Novobakhmutovka has been officially liberated, the cleanup there has been completed.

Strike struckat the enterprise of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. There is a target defeat.

15:15 Telegram channel “Fisherman":

About the night strike on Cape Tarkhankut

At night, Ukrainian formations carried out an attack on Cape Tarkhankut. For the strike, as in the case of Dzhankoy, ATACMS operational-tactical missiles with a cluster warhead were used (Two Majors report at least 15 missiles.

The target was air defense units stationed in the area. According to preliminary data, no casualties were avoided, but the attack itself once again took place at night in poor visibility conditions.

It is unclear what modification was used. When launching from the vicinity of Ochakov, the Ukrainian Armed Forces could also use older versions with a range of no more than 165 km. In a straight line, they can easily reach Crimea.

At the same time, against the backdrop of official news about the transfer of modifications with a combat radius of up to 300 km, Ukrainian formations could launch from the Odessa region, for example, from the Alibey training ground.

Last year, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repeatedly, but unsuccessfully, attacked Crimea from this area with the Grom-2 operational-tactical complex. It was precisely because of the lack of results that the decision was made to stop using them in Crimea.

The enemy’s tactics can be explained by the intention to reduce the capabilities of the air defense units covering the peninsula. Before the planned attack on the Crimean Bridge, the Ukrainian Armed Forces want to achieve an advantage in missile and unmanned weapons, and air defense forces are the main obstacle.

14:42 Advance of the RF Armed Forces –map.

1. Novokalinovo and Keramik (the cleanup of Novokalinovo is already close to completion, in Keramik it is still ongoing)

2. Netailovo (RF Armed Forces are advancing in the village, next will be Karlovka)

3. Kislovka (the Russian Armed Forces control part of the village).

London police probe alleged attempted kidnapping of Haredi man in Stamford Hill
[IsraelTimes] A clip shared on social media appears to show two men attempting to force an ultra-Orthodox man into the trunk of their car in North London.

The local Jewish neighborhood watch group, Shomrim, shares the footage from the Friday incident on social media, noting that London’s Metropolitan Police is looking for leads.

The video shows the car pull over on a street North London’s Stamford Hill — an area with a large Haredi community — next to the man, as two men jump out.

One of the men lunges threateningly at the victim, apparently demanding that he get in the car, while the other opens the trunk.

When the would-be kidnap victim quickly threatens to use his cellphone to call the police, and as other vehicles approached, the men get in their car and drive away.

Local police writes on X, formerly Twitter, that an investigation into the alleged antisemitic incident has been opened.

Historian: European countries do not like to remember that their “garden” was built by slaves
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Europeans do not want to admit their responsibility for crimes committed during the period of colonialism.Deputy Director of the Institute of History and Politics at Moscow State Pedagogical University, Candidate of Historical Sciences Vladimir Shapovalov spoke about this to a Regnum correspondent on April 28, commenting on Portugal’s refusal to pay reparations due to slavery.

The historian noted that almost all countries of Western Europe participated in the seizure of colonies, the exploitation of the local population and the slave trade. Portugal played a leading role in the slave trade, which acquired enormous proportions. For many generations, the Portuguese treated the peoples of Africa and Asia mercilessly, which is genocide and a crime against humanity. However, Europeans do not like to remember that their economic success is largely due to the use of slave labor, he added.

According to Shapovalov, the demand from Portugal to pay reparations is an important event, as it has become a precedent. Similar requirements should be made to other European countries. However, the Portuguese authorities act in the same way as those Europeans who refuse to return valuables and museum exhibits taken from Asian and African countries, he clarified.

This applies not only to the period of colonialism, but also to the Second World War. Nazi Germany also committed crimes, but not all of its atrocities were adequately assessed by the authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany or its allies, the expert noted.

“These are links in one chain. These are the actions of the “garden”, which the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, spoke about, in relation to the “jungle”, that is, the rest of the world. Europeans consider themselves a chosen race, which is allowed to rob and kill the population of other countries. And they are not ready to bear responsibility for this and reconsider their attitude towards that era,” the historian noted.

As reported by IA Regnum, the colonial era of Portugal lasted more than 500 years, when Angola, Mozambique, Brazil, Cape Verde, Sao Tome and Principe, East Timor and some territories in Asia were under Portuguese rule.

In a statement, the country's government notes that it wants to “deepen relations and respect historical truth,” but the authorities “ do not have a program of concrete actions ” to pay reparations. The previous leadership of Portugal put forward the same arguments. President Rebelo de Sousa said on April 27 that Portugal could use several methods to pay reparations, such as writing off the debt of former colonies and providing financing.

Political scientist and journalist Yuri Svetov noted that it is fair to expect a response from the countries of the world that were robbed by European countries. He recalled that Belgium, which has frozen Russian assets, may face claims from its former colony, Congo. The UK may receive similar claims, and there will be no end to this process, Svetov added.

According to him, at the same time, the elites of former colonial countries still gravitate towards their metropolises. They studied there, they have their own interests, many of them are related by family ties to representatives of the elites of Western states. They don't want to break off this relationship. However, the opinion of the people of these states differs from the opinion of the elites, the political scientist added.

#1  badonov – I would argue that slavery is so important to the development of modern humans that it was actually the impetus that began the Neolithic Period, around 12,000 years ago. Here there began large farming, and it became mega-farming by the the time you had writing, around 6,000 years ago.

I offer as my only evidence (and not even bringing up the Romans), and something that Zawi Hawass would vehemently reject in the National Geographic, that young Egyptian men would gladly give up their bodies for a short vacation and a lifetime of arthritis in order to please God, but all that seems to be kept a bit quiet.

Yes, today we have "slavery" of a different sort. Still involves very limited ownership and great sums of financial gain.

#5  There has always been slavery. The Anti-Slavery movement was founded on classical Christian - Western Civilization nations from the 18th Century. No where else. Here, I thought 'they' despised White Supremacy.

The word slave is derived from Slav. The Byzantines (Eastern Roman Empire) captured so many Slavic 'migrants' during a period of armed incursions that the term entered Western languages.

Haitians demand new leaders find swift solutions to gang violence
[AFRICANEWS] Just days after a transitional presidential council was installed, formalising the resignation of former Prime Minister Ariel Henry, their list of demands is growing rapidly.

Haitians want security, food, and jobs — and they want them now.
"student loan forgiveness! And a pony!"
"The first thing that the presidential council must do is look into the security problem. Insecurity has made this country unliveable. We are going crazy running everywhere and with nowhere to go," says taxi driver Joseph Ferdinand.

Next on his list is the issue of hunger.

"People are living in misery. Misery is destroying the population," he says pointing to a huge pile of garbage lying uncollected in the street.

His complaints are echoed by many people in the streets of the capital, Port-au-Prince.

Ukrainian Col. Gen. Syrsky confirms the retreat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Berdychi and Semenovka to the DPR
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The situation at the front has worsened for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Ukrainian troops are losing positions in several directions at once, said the commander in chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Alexander Syrsky.

According to him, the Russian Armed Forces maintain an advantage both in technology and in the number of troops.

“ Units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, preserving the life and health (of their military. - Ed.), moved to new lines west of Berdichi, Semyonovka and Novomikhailovka. In general, in these areas (the Russian Armed Forces. - Ed.) have achieved certain tactical successes,” the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine wrote on his Telegram channel.

Syrsky added that Ukrainian troops also left their positions in the Avdeevka direction, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces tried to advance to the Pokrovsk and Kurakhovo area, advancing west of Avdeevka.

As reported by IA Regnum, on April 28, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that panic was growing on the Ukrainian side at the fronts, and it was important to maintain this momentum.

At the same time, Peskov added that the West and Ukraine will “test Russia weakly,” so it is important for the Russian Federation not to show weakness.

Former American intelligence officer Scott Ritter noted on the Ask the Inspector podcast that the Kiev regime of Vladimir Zelensky will fall in the coming months.

In turn, former adviser to ex-President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma Oleg Soskin reported that military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine refuse to carry out the orders of the command, and the army leadership cannot do anything about it.

The situation at the front for the Ukrainian Armed Forces is depressing, added Kuchma’s ex-adviser.

In March, it was reported that military personnel of the elite units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine accused Zelensky of the upcoming big “catastrophe.” The unit’s fighters criticized Syrsky and said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are “ on the edge of the abyss ” after the dismissal of “the most adequate ones.”

Syrsky: The situation at the front has worsened

Fierce fighting continues at the front.

The most difficult situation is in the Pokrovsky and Kurakhovsky directions, where the enemy has deployed up to four brigades, the commander-in-chief said.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky reported on the aggravation of the situation at the front, noting that the situation is very dynamic. He wrote about this in detail in his TG channel.

"The situation at the front has escalated. Trying to seize the strategic initiative and break through the front line, the enemy concentrated his main efforts in several directions, creating a significant advantage in forces and means. He is actively attacking along the entire front line, in some directions he has tactical successes. A dynamic change in the situation is taking place “, individual positions change hands several times during the day, which gives rise to an ambiguous understanding of the situation,” the message says.

It is reported that this week heavy fighting continued along the entire front line, and in some areas the enemy had tactical success, and in others it was possible to improve the tactical position of our troops.

In the Lugansk region, the enemy is trying to take advantage of its advantage in the air, missiles and the number of artillery ammunition.

“The main task for himself is to reach the administrative border of the Lugansk region,” states the commander-in-chief.

Syrsky noted that the enemy is crossing his main efforts in the Kupyansky direction in the area of the villages of Stelmakhovka and Berestovo, where the enemy had partial success, but was stopped by Ukrainian defenders, as well as in the Limansky direction, where he is advancing on the village of Terny and trying to push the Ukrainian Defense Forces beyond the Cherny River A stallion, but not successful.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the hottest spots remain Ivanovskoe and Chasov Yar, and the enemy is also trying to regain control of Klishchievka and reach the line via the Seversky Donets - Donbass canal.

The commander-in-chief said that the most difficult situation is in the Pokrovsky and Kurakhovsky directions, where the enemy has deployed up to four brigades and is trying to develop an offensive west of Avdeevka and Maryinka, making its way to Pokrovsk and Kurakhovo.

“Units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, preserving the life and health of our defenders, moved to new lines west of Berdichev, Semenovka and Novomikhailovka. In general, in these directions the enemy achieved certain tactical successes, but was unable to gain an operational advantage. Ukrainian troops inflict maximum losses on the enemy, both in personnel and in military equipment. To strengthen the defense in these directions and replace units that have suffered losses, brigades that have restored combat capability are being relocated,” the commander-in-chief said in a statement.

The situation in the southern directions remains tense, but Syrsky claims that the enemy has none of them.

“Moreover, in the Kherson direction, our units managed to advance in the Veletensky area and establish control over the island of Nestriga. Also, the Ukrainian Defense Forces managed to improve their tactical position in the Sinkovka area (Kupyansky direction) and Serebryansky forestry (Lymansky direction),” the head added.

Let us remind you that over the previous day, Ukrainian fighters destroyed 1096 Russian military personnel . As of the morning of April 28, 2024, the total number of personnel losses of Russian troops reached 466,150 soldiers.

Tragic Explosion in Elasha Biyaha: Al-Shabab Member, Children Killed
[ShabelleMedia] On Saturday night, a devastating incident unfolded in Elasha Biyaha, located approximately 15km south of Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia.

A suspected al-Shabab militant tragically lost his life along with his two children when an improvised explosive device (IED) he was assembling exploded in his lap house. The man’s wife also sustained injuries in the blast and is currently receiving medical attention.

This tragic event was confirmed by the Somali Police, who reported that the explosion resulted from the man’s attempts to construct landmines in his residence.

The police spokesman, Abdifatah, highlighted that the incident is not the first of its kind, as similar events have occurred in houses where explosives were being prepared, both in Mogadishu and in various regions.

The explosion not only resulted in the loss of life but also uncovered additional explosive materials upon further investigation by the police.

This alarming development sheds light on the continued efforts of the militant group, al-Shabab, to carry out attacks in Somalia despite facing significant opposition from government forces and international efforts to dismantle their operations.

The incident comes in the wake of increased military operations against al-Shabab. Just a day prior, a car bombing at a Somali military facility resulted in the deaths of six people, including four soldiers.

The attack, claimed by the Islamist extremist group, was part of a series of aggressive actions aimed at destabilizing the region.

In response to such incidents, the Somali government has deployed hundreds of newly trained personnel in and around Mogadishu to bolster security and prevent retaliatory attacks.

The United States has also announced a $5 million bounty for information leading to the location of al-Shabab deputy leader Abukar Ali Adan, signaling a concerted effort to dismantle the group’s leadership and disrupt their activities.

France charges ex-wife of ISIS leader with crimes against humanity
[Rudaw] A French court has charged the ex-wife of a top Islamic State (ISIS) leader with genocide and crimes against humanity for allegedly exploiting a teenage Yazidi girl in Syria, French media reported on Saturday.

Sonia M., 34, is an ex-wife of top ISIS official Abdelnasser Benyoucef.
…a member of Algerian Islamist militant group GIA in the 1990s, believed to have died in suicide attacks in Syria, and in between coached a number of known ISIS jihadis in Europe, including Amédy Coulibaly, the gunman in the January 2015 kosher supermarket attack, as ISIS’ head of external operations…
She was charged on March 14 by a Paris judge for "genocide" and "crimes against humanity," Le Parisien said. "This French woman, now targeted with the most serious qualifications of the Penal Code, is accused of her alleged involvement in the martyrdom of the Yazidi community, the non-Muslim Kurdophone religious minority methodically persecuted by Daesh [ISIS]."

The court suspects her of having enslaved a Yazidi girl in her Raqqa apartment,

The Yazidi woman was 16 when she was enslaved by Benyoucef. She accused Sonia M. of rape and said she had knowledge that her husband was also raping her, according to the report.

On her time in Syria, the Yazidi woman also said she was not allowed to eat, drink, or shower without informing Sonia M.

ISIS swept through vast swathes of Syria and Iraq in 2014 and declared a so-called "caliphate" in a brazen offensive that saw the group take control of around a third of Syria’s territory as well as several Iraqi cities, including the second largest northern city of Mosul. It was declared territorially defeated in 2017 and 2019 in both countries respectively.

During the jihadists’ brutal reign, they committed heinous atrocities, such as genocide, sexual slavery, and massacres against non-Muslims, especially the Yazidi ethnoreligious group. Christians and Shiite Muslims were also a target.

More than 6,000 Yazidis were abducted when ISIS overran the community’s heartland of Shingal (Sinjar) in 2014. Around 2,700 remain missing, with little done to bring solace to the rescued.

Earlier in April, Germany detained an Iraqi couple suspected of being members of ISIS and accused of enslaving and sexually abusing two young Yazidi girls.

US Central Command says five unmanned drones ‘successfully engaged' over Red Sea
[IsraelTimes] The US military says it has "successfully engaged" five unmanned drones over the Red Sea that "presented an imminent threat to US, coalition, and merchant vessels in the region."

US Central Command does not say in the statement if the drones were destroyed after they were identified.

"These actions are taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for US, coalition, and merchant vessels," the CENTCOM statement adds.

The Iran-backed Houthis, who control much of war-torn Yemen, have been attacking shipping in the Red Sea since November in a campaign they say is in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

The US has spearheaded a naval coalition to protect vessels in the vital waterway, and has also conducted air strikes in Houthi territory, both on its own and alongside Britain.

#4  The good professor is a big stink in his field. From City Journal in 2022:

This provided an opportunity. As the queer theorists’ vanguard intellectual project was running aground on incest and bestiality fantasies, the most enterprising among them took a different tack: using the commercialization of drag and the goodwill associated with the gay and lesbian rights movement as a means of transforming drag performances into “family-friendly” events that could transmit a simplified version of queer theory to children. The key figure in this transition was a “genderqueer” college professor and drag queen named Harris Kornstein—stage name Lil Miss Hot Mess—who hosted some of the original readings in public libraries and wrote the children’s book The Hips on the Drag Queen Go Swish, Swish, Swish. Kornstein sits on the board of Drag Queen Story Hour, the nonprofit organization that was founded by Michelle Tea in 2015 to promote “family-friendly” drag performances and has since expanded to 40 local chapters that have organized hundreds of performances across the United States.

Kornstein also published the manifesto for the movement, “Drag Pedagogy: The Playful Practice of Queer Imagination in Early Childhood,” with coauthor Harper Keenan, a female-to-male transgender queer theorist at the University of British Columbia. With citations to Foucault and Butler, the essay begins by applying queer theory’s basic premise of social constructivism and heteronormativity to the education system. “The professional vision of educators is often shaped to reproduce the state’s normative vision of its ideal citizenry. In effect, schooling functions as a way to straighten the child into a kind of captive alignment with the current parameters of that vision,” Kornstein and Keenan write. “To state it plainly, within the historical context of the USA and Western Europe, the institutional management of gender has been used as a way of maintaining racist and capitalist modes of (re)production.”

To disrupt this dynamic, the authors propose a new teaching method, “drag pedagogy,” as a way of stimulating the “queer imagination,” teaching kids “how to live queerly,” and “bringing queer ways of knowing and being into the education of young children.” As Kornstein and Keenan explain, this is an intellectual and political project that requires drag queens and activists to work toward undermining traditional notions of sexuality, replacing the biological family with the ideological family, and arousing transgressive sexual desires in young children.

Anti-Islamic activist burns Koran in Sweden
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Swedish anti-Islamic activist Jade Sandberg burned the Koran in Stockholm. This is not her first such action, reports the Turkish TV channel A haber.

The media notes that the burning of the Muslim holy book took place “under the protection of the Swedish police.” The TV channel called this action vile.

It is clarified that Sandberg burned the Koran on April 26. The activist posted a video of what was happening on her social networks. In addition, she warned that she intends to organize a similar action in Malmö on May 3.

Her social media profile states that Jade Sandberg is a "cleric, exorcist, demonologist" and "activist and crusader" who opposes Islam and saves Sweden and the Nordic countries from the religion.

As reported by IA Regnum, earlier 47-year-old native of Iran Marjan Bayrami burned the Koran in a barbecue on the shore of the Swedish Lake Mälaren with the permission of the police and in her presence. The Iranian woman believes that “it is necessary to destroy all religions.”

At the end of June 2023, the Swedish police allowed an action in Stockholm with the burning of the Koran at the main mosque on the first day of Eid al-Adha.

In August 2023, during a demonstration in front of the Turkish Embassy in The Hague, a group of Dutch far-right tore and trampled the Koran.

The head of the synodal department for relations between the church and society and the media of the Russian Orthodox Church, Vladimir Legoida, called the burning of the Koran in Stockholm an act of unacceptable vandalism. He stated that one cannot spit on what is sacred for another person and cross the boundaries of humanity in a political struggle.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro expressed the opinion that European leaders, who turn a blind eye to the burning of the Koran, are indirectly involved in this through their silence. He condemned the lack of reaction from the political leadership of Europe and some media outlets to the burning of holy scriptures in Sweden and Denmark.

At the beginning of 2024, the mayor of Arnhem, Ahmed Markush, said that Dutch laws do not prohibit burning the Koran, such actions are consistent with the right of citizens to demonstrate.

Eric Trump warns Biden could be hit with charges for White House cocaine if SCOTUS rules against immunity
[NYPOST] Eric Trump warned that if the Supreme Court brushes aside presidential immunity, prosecutors could line up a case against President Biden over last summer’s White House cocaine debacle.

The Trump scion further cautioned that if his father fails to win his bid for absolute immunity then the floodgates could be open to a flurry of prosecutions against other presidents.

"They’ll probably go after Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women created ... by the — you know — you know, the thing...
for having cocaine in the White House. They’ll go after Biden for raiding his opponent’s home," Eric Trump, 40, predicted on Fox News’ "Sunday Morning Futures."

"They will probably go after him ... for literally, two weeks before the 2022 primaries, literally depleting the petroleum national — the reserves so he could lower gas prices," he railed.

Last Thursday, the Supreme Court heard a landmark case in which former President Donald Trump
...Oh, noze! Not him!...
, 77, claimed that presidents enjoy absolute immunity for their official actions, and therefore the courts should toss out his four-count 2020 election indictment.

Justices on the conservative-led high court appeared deeply skeptical about the claim of absolute presidential immunity, while simultaneously sounding leery about presidents having no immunity.

By mounting the presidential immunity challenge, the elder Trump managed to delay the 2020 election subversion trial, which was supposed to commence on March 4.

Echoing the former president’s legal team, Eric Trump cautioned that without immunity protecting former commanders-in-chief, overzealous prosecutors could have a field day.

"The only people who are going to benefit are big law firms in Washington, DC, because they are going to go after every single president. They will start with Obama, Fast and Furious, right, where he gives 2,000 weapons to cartel members," Eric Trump mused.

Polish general: minefields must be installed on the border with Russia and Belarus
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Former Polish Deputy Minister of National Defense Waldemar Skrzypczak said that there is no threat of a full-scale war in Europe at this stage.

At the same time, the general believes that it is necessary to make minefields and build fortifications on the Polish and Lithuanian borders with Russia and Belarus.
A wise precaution
“The Polish and Lithuanian borders with Russia need to be strengthened and layered minefields placed now, in peacetime. In wartime, it may already be too late to build fortifications in border areas,” Skrzypczak told the Baltic Internet portal Delfi.

The military man urged “to prepare, to create armed forces,” saying that “if we are strong, no war will break out.”

As Regnum reported, the statement by Polish President Andrzej Duda about the deployment of nuclear weapons on the territory of the country frightened even the United States, commented the press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

According to Peskov, such statements only demonstrate the thinking of Western politicians. He added that the West is stirring up tension by trying to “fool its population with horror stories about scary Russians” who will never stop.

On April 22, Duda allowed the deployment of US nuclear weapons on the territory of the republic. He noted that Poland, a NATO ally, has certain obligations, and the issue of nuclear weapons has been discussed with the American side for some time.

Later, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the circumstances that prompted Duda to speak out about the possible deployment of nuclear weapons in the country are not entirely clear. According to him, initiatives in this area must be well prepared. Duda later clarified that the decision on the deployment of US nuclear forces in Poland had not yet been made.

At the same time, Secretary General of the military bloc Jens Stoltenberg said on April 23 that NATO has no plans to change the configuration of its nuclear forces and, in particular, their deployment in Poland.

#2  But he won't be able to visit any country that is a signatory. Remember Milosevic and his gang of war criminals? Slobodan Radovic I think? Moreover every UN Member State was served with orders to search for and freeze all of their assets so that they could not use them to evade justice.
All it took was a change of government in Belgrade, and the new ministers, disgusted with the war crimes that had been committed in their names, handed over Milosevic. Unfortunately he croaked before a verdict could be reached and punishment served.

Somalia Defence Minister admits US-trained Danab officers sold food rations
Why would we train them to steal food rations?
[Garowe] Somalia's Defence Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur has conceded Danab Special Forces sold food rations donated by the government of the United States of America, a few days after the incident was addressed by the federal government of Somalia.

In an interview with Universal TV, Nur said that the theft of Danab rations was verified two weeks ago, and some of the officers involved were caught in the act about a week ago. Several officers have since been arrested over the theft.

He refused to give the number of people detained for the theft but admitted the rations were sold in the market. The government had announced the incident in a statement and pledged to 'deal' with those involved, including military officers.

Asked about the responsibility of what has happened, Nur said the responsibility is at a unit level. Danab commandos have been assisting in the fight against Al-Shabaab, a group fighting to topple the fragile UN-backed federal government of Somalia.

He claimed this incident happened at a time when the Somali government was already in the process of working on transferring responsibility for the logistics of the force. He confirmed US support for Danab continues except for rations.

The minister who was accused of spending ample time on his TikTok account, said he will not give up his TikTok, saying it’s a platform for delivering messages. He is a close ally of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

The United States has been supporting Danab forces since 2017 when the unit was first formed to handle violent extremism. So far, over 3,000 elite troops have been trained by the United States, a dependable ally of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

#1  ...When will we learn?

Most of the rest of the world regards us as simple-minded morons who exist only to be fleeced. In 1975, the South Vietnamese Army was ordered to deploy its forces to stop the North Vietnamese invasion...but far, far too many of its officers were padding the rolls and collecting the pay, so the ghost soldiers marched their comrades to defeat. Fifty years later the same damned thing happened in Afghanistan, abetted by the fact that when it came down to it, ethnicity and religion mattered more than nation and freedom.

Brutal European integration. The West punishes Georgia for its relations with Russia
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Gevorg Mirzayan

[REGNUM] The European Parliament has taken up arms against Georgia, a pro-Western country in the post-Soviet space and the first victim of the color revolution in the region. On Thursday, April 25, with 425 votes in favor, 25 against and 30 abstentions, deputies adopted a resolution condemning the country's authorities.

Firstly, the European Union intends to impose sanctions against the founder of the ruling party and the de facto leader of Georgia, Bidzina Ivanishvili, “for his role in the deterioration of the political process in Georgia and work against the interests of its people. ” European media almost openly call Bidzina a “pro-Russian oligarch.”

Secondly, Georgia must release the country's former president Mikheil Saakashvili.

Thirdly, Tbilisi is required to withdraw amendments to the constitution aimed “against the LGBT community (an extremist movement whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation).” We are talking about a ban on the adoption of children by homosexual couples, consolidating the status of marriage as a union between men and women, as well as a ban on LGBT propaganda and related rallies.

Moreover, the most scandalous part of the resolution concerns the bill on foreign agents. On April 17, the Georgian parliament, despite the noisy indignation of the opposition, in the first reading adopted a document highlighting NGOs and media working in the interests of the West. If these structures receive more than 20% of their funding from abroad, they are required to register as not even foreign agents, but “pursuing the interests of a foreign power.”

MEPs demand that Tbilisi repeal the law. In their opinion, “negotiations on accession to the EU should not begin while this law is part of the legal system of Georgia.” Moreover, they demand that the European Union, if the law is finally adopted, stop all financial assistance to the Georgian state and impose sanctions against the deputies who voted in favor. In addition, MEPs are threatening to stall visa liberalization between Georgia and the EU.

The authors of the resolution explain the hysteria of the European Parliament by the fact that the law on foreign agents allegedly discredits the pro-Western forces of the country (which are actually supported by European or American financial support).

At first glance, the EU's reaction looks strange: the Georgian authorities are not going to introduce sanctions against foreign agents - only to control them. Moreover, similar laws already exist in Western countries.

“The European Union has developed a recommendatory protocol for all member states on adopting their laws on foreign agents to prevent ideological work on the part of China and a number of other states.

It is already in development in France. In the USA and Great Britain, let me remind you, laws on foreign agents are already in force, and there are quite a lot of criminal convictions under them,” Nikita Mendkovich, head of the Eurasian Analytical Club, told IA Regnum.

At the same time, for the West, the Georgian law really poses a serious threat - both regional and global.

According to Mendkovich, it is extremely important for the United States and the EU to maintain the maximum number of countries with a favorable regime in the CIS - for non-transparent financing of political activities. This way you can carry out subversive activities against Russia on the territory of, for example, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan or Georgia. But if stricter control over the financing of political forces by foreigners is introduced there, problems arise.

And they have already arisen when a similar law was adopted in Kyrgyzstan and (albeit under a different name) in Kazakhstan.

“The repetition of a similar experience in the countries of Transcaucasia causes concern among American sponsors. They have to find new underground schemes to finance and steal money, which is what American NGOs love to do.

Therefore, it is natural that the Americans are ready to the last minute, literally in the streets, to fight against the adoption of new laws on foreign agents,” says Nikita Mendkovich in a commentary for IA Regnum.

In addition, a similar situation may repeat itself outside the post-Soviet space. If it spreads to other regions of the world, the United States will have to completely reconsider its policy and abandon the use of so-called soft power.

“But Westerners don’t like to work differently and don’t know how. It is important for them to pass off their activity as a movement of democratic forces, and with transparent financing this will not be possible,” Mendkovich sums up.

In Georgia itself, the global ambitions of the West were not appreciated. The country's authorities reacted very sharply to the initiative of the European deputies. Georgian Culture Minister Tea Tsulukiani directly accused the European Parliament of “passing laws for money.” And her colleagues added that European MPs are trying to spread outright evil.

“This has nothing to do with Europe or Europeanness, it is absolutely immoral and categorically unacceptable for Georgian society,” says the leader of the Dream faction in parliament, Mamuka Mdinaradze.

Along the way, Georgian deputies recalled that such resolutions, coupled with previous actions of the West, for example, the refusal to grant Georgia EU candidate status when it was given to less ready Moldova and Ukraine, lead to the country's disappointment in Euro-Atlantic integration.

At the same time, according to the speaker of the Georgian parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, the decision taken by the European Parliament primarily affects not Georgia, but the European Union.

“It is regrettable that the process of Georgia’s integration into the European Union is being used by some members of the European Parliament as a tool to promote their own political agenda. And this, first of all, damages the prestige of the European Union in the eyes of the Georgian people,” Papuashvili said.

The key point is that the Georgian authorities are confident that the real reason for the appearance of the condemning resolution is not the laws on foreign agents and LGBT people.

“This is a punishment for what we didn’t do. For not opening a second front,” said Minister of Culture Tea Tsulukiani.

In fact, Georgia is being punished for refusing to conflict with Russia.

The wider this opinion spreads (including due to resolutions of the European Parliament), the better for Moscow. For a long time, Georgians were told that the Euro-Atlantic path of development, which they chose back in the early 2000s, would lead to a bright future. Now it turns out that the price of this future is a destructive conflict with a nuclear power.

Brussels itself presented Georgia with a choice: to sacrifice its own state for the sake of the survival of the Kyiv regime or, in case of refusal, to receive punishment from the European Union. Realizing this, Georgian society will change its attitude towards the EU. The process has already begun.

[Korrespondent] 21:28 Borrell believes that the war in Ukraine can continue at least until the presidential elections in the United States: “Since we committed to support Ukraine at the beginning of the conflict, we must continue to support until they are unable to resist and until Putin decides stop the war. But this will not happen soon, unfortunately."

At the same time, the diplomat called for continued support for Kyiv: “At the same time, we must continue to support the people of Ukraine. Europeans will not die for Donbass, but we can help Ukrainians not to die for Donbass even longer.”

A similar incident occurred on April 26 in Vladikavkaz - then the diesel locomotive ChME-3 was burned at night. Intelligence officials emphasized that the liquidation of the rolling stock of the Russian railway reduces the capabilities of military logistics of the Russian Federation.

17:15 Zelensky said that he had a telephone conversation with House Minority Leader Gakeem Jeffries,
…that’s Hakeem Jeffries, of course…

15:56 The situation at the front has worsened, the Russian army has concentrated its main efforts in several directions, but is actively attacking along the entire front line and has tactical successes in some places, Syrsky said. According to him, the most difficult situation is in the Pokrovsky and Kurakhovsky directions, where Russia has deployed up to four brigades, and is trying to develop an offensive west of Avdeevka and Maryinka, making its way to Pokrovsk and Kurakhovo. Defense Force units moved to new lines west of Berdychi, Semyonovka and Novomikhailovka. In these directions, the enemy achieved certain tactical successes, but was unable to gain an operational advantage.

The enemy also had partial success in the Kupyansk direction - in the areas of the villages of Stelmakhovka and Berestovo, but was stopped. The increase in numbers and regrouping of enemy troops in the Kharkov direction is being monitored. In the Seversk direction, the Russian army is advancing in the area of Belogorovka and Razdolovka, trying to break through and blockade Seversk in order to create conditions for continuing the offensive on Slavyansk. There has been no success; progress in this direction has been stopped.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the hottest spots remain Ivanovskoye and Chasov Yar. The enemy is also trying to regain control of Kleshcheevka and reach the line via the Seversky Donets - Donbass canal.

Previously, missiles of this type were already supplied to Ukraine by Great Britain and France. It is known that Italy had 200 such missiles in service. Italy itself has not yet announced a decision to supply long-range missiles to Ukraine, the publication notes.

11:52 Germany is categorically against plans to seize frozen assets of the Russian Federation for the restoration and military support of Ukraine, writes The Wall Street Journal. According to the publication, Berlin fears that this will create a precedent and provoke new lawsuits against Germany for crimes of the Second World War. Germany believes Russian assets should be left intact so they can be used as leverage in any negotiations to end the war and force Russia to cede some of the Ukrainian territory it has seized.

10:41 Russian military public pages write about an attack by ATACMS missiles on air defense systems at Cape Tarkhankut in Crimea.

10:34 In the morning, the Russians attacked a hotel in the historical part of Nikolaev, said the head of the OBA Vitaly Kim. He said the hotel owners had just recovered from Russian strikes in 2022. Kyiv regime is afraid of an investigation into the events in Bucha, Zakharova says
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Russia will continue to tell the world the truth and fight the fakes that the Kiev regime is spreading about the events in Bucha, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, whose commentary was published on April 28 on the ministry’s website.

Thus, she responded to a request to comment on Kyiv’s statements at the UN about her “version” of events in Bucha.

“We are not going to put up with such fakes and will continue to open the world community’s eyes to what is happening, talk about attempts to manipulate mass consciousness,” Zakharova said.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that a full investigation of this tragedy has not yet been carried out, and answers to specific questions have not been received: the names and surnames of those killed, their places of residence and registration, the time, place and cause of death, the results of a pathological examination indicating the nature injuries resulting in death.

“This means one thing: the Kiev regime is afraid of the investigation, because in the course of it they risk exposing themselves,” the diplomat said.

Russia has repeatedly said with facts that the events in Bucha are a cynical re-enactment. At the same time, according to Zakharova, the letter sent by the Ukrainian permanent mission does not contain evidence, but only unfounded accusations and references to “unambiguous conclusions.”

The most questions, according to the diplomat, are raised by Ukrainian data on the number of victims of the tragedy. In particular, the letter states that more than 9 thousand war crimes were allegedly documented in Bucha, which caused the death of 1,800 people.

“As you know, the Russian military was in the city from February 27 to March 31, 2022, that is, 33 days. Their number did not exceed several hundred people. Let's divide 9 thousand crimes into 33 days, we get 272. Based on the figures cited by Kiev, our military should have committed 272 crimes per day, or 11 crimes per hour without interruption for sleep and food. This is absolutely unrealistic,” added Zakharova.

As reported by Regnum news agency, the Ukrainian city of Bucha was under the control of the Russian military until the end of March 2022. Afterwards, the Russian Armed Forces left the locality. At the same time, Ukrainian and Western media published footage from the settlement, which allegedly showed the corpses of civilians. Kyiv blamed the Russian side for their deaths.

In turn, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation denied this information and called the published materials a provocation. In July 2022, volunteer and former French military man Adrien Boquet, who visited Ukraine, admitted that he witnessed a staging in Bucha.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov doubted that the West was conducting an investigation into the incident in Bucha. The Foreign Minister said he constantly reminds UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres of the importance of clarifying the situation, but there is no response from him.
