I am just posting this short video in the hope that someone can explain the tactics here. "OK, guys, we're in enemy territory. Let's drive down this straight road that we haven't scouted. Driver, keep your speed constant. Infantry guys riding on top, don't bother checking the flanks. I got this." Poor bastards.

Probably on top to avoid the concussion if they hit a landmine. See pics from Vietnam with the troops sitting on top of the M113 carriers rather than being inside. The hit shows being inside would not have made much of a difference.

From the length of time from launch to hit, it was a fairly long shot. Was the missile laser guided or fire and forget? Crosshairs kept on target would suggest laser guided; but not clear, could be wanting to get video.
I agree, "Poor bastards!"
Several signs point to THE possibility of Chinese officials instituting at least a partial lockdown of the northern port city of Tianjin as early as this weekend. The largest northern Chinese port, Tianjin is also a city of over 12 million people, and its port is vital for delivering goods--bulk ores, coal, liquid fuels--for the region's heavy industries and textile manufacturing.
The Omicron variant has already been detected in the city, notably in the Beichen and Dongli districts, where local health officials mandated localized testing and quarantine restrictions on May 16. Widespread testing through these areas--and the removal of tens of thousands of residents into forced quarantine--now looks like it might spread throughout the city. Local officials have also already gone ahead and identified a scapegoat: imported frozen food products.
What's a little authoritarian lockdown without some trade nationalism?
Tianjin already experienced a partial lockdown in January of this year. Partial in part due to the city's vital role as the primary port serving Beijing, and also a domestic concern over optics during the Olympics. As we've seen from reports and local social media uploads, the lockdowns at the very least cause an undue amount of stress on local Chinese residents. At their worst, they reveal the ugliest face of an authoritarian regime that uses drones to threaten its citizens who dare to scream out in hunger in the middle of the night.
Beyond the human toll of these lockdowns, the Chinese economy and manufacturing base is increasingly finding itself disconnected from global trade. China's financial hub of Shanghai is currently in its seventh week of lock-down, the southern port city and manufacturing hub of Guangzhou is under lockdown, more and more districts of the capital city of Beijing are entering a so-called "slow motion" lockdown. If we add in Tianjin, as it increasingly looks like we might, that's several of China's largest trading and industrial zones, plus the administrative core, under lockdown.
Even in cases where the government seeks to ease lockdowns for critical manufacturing and port operations, worker shortages in China are causing all manner of delays and supply chain dislocations. Over a hundred ships are waiting off of the port of Shanghai as of writing (Hong Kong and Shenzen have nearly 200). Lest you think that labor issues have been sorted out at Western ports, let me remind you that there is still a wait of over three weeks for ships to dock at the port of Vancouver.
It is hard to overexaggerate the role of the Chinese worker in our current globalized economy, and the impact Chinese labor has had on the post-Cold War system. All of that is going away. In return? Rising labor costs, at a minimum. Assuming you can find the workers. Think inflation is bad now? Just wait.

A scientific journal published by top Wuhan Institute of Virology researchers shared studies appearing to engage in gain-of-function type research, a controversial method of studying pathogens that can increase their lethality.
The Wuhan Institute of Virology is believed to have engaged in the risky form of research regarding bat coronaviruses, as now-deleted webpages reveal the lab manipulating bat coronaviruses to "replicate efficiently in primary human airway cells and achieve in vitro titers equivalent to epidemic strains of SARS-CoV."
Now, the latest edition of the lab’s journal, Virologica Sinica, appears to contain a similar style of research with the H7N9 virus in chickens and mice. The publication’s Editor-in-Chief is Wuhan’s infamous "bat lady," Shi Zhengli, who is the lab’s premier bat coronavirus researcher and a recipient of funds from Anthony Fauci through Peter Daszak’s EcoHealth Alliance.
Virologica Sinica published the study "Combined Insertion of Basic and Non-basic Amino Acids at Hemagglutinin Cleavage Site of Highly Pathogenic H7N9 Virus Promotes Replication and Pathogenicity in Chickens and Mice" in its most recent edition, published February 2022.
The paper’s abstract outlines how researchers "generated six H7N9 viruses," analyzing how various amino acids altered the virus’ virulence and infectivity.
"We characterized the reconstituted viruses in terms of viral replication in avian and mammalian cells, thermostability and acid stability, cleavage efficiency, the virulence in mice, and pathogenicity and transmissibility in chickens," outlined the study.
"The I335V substitution of H7N9 virus enhanced infectivity and transmission in chickens, suggesting that the combination of mutations and insertions of amino acids at the HACS promoted replication and pathogenicity in chickens and mice," explained researchers.
While the study conducted experiments on mice and chicken, it noted that H7N9 variants are "also highly transmissible in ferrets, posing the threats of pandemic potential in humans."
In one case study, the H7N9 variant caused a 35 percent mortality rate in mice, with researchers noting that certain amino acids "increased the pathogenicity":

First and last paragraphs are the commentary of Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin:
This has to do with the Russian Ministry of defense denying veterans status to 32 crew members of the auxiliary supply ship General Ryabikov, who served during the 2008 war in Georgia.
[ColonelCassad] According to the story of the deprivation of benefits for the crew of the auxiliary supply vessel of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation "General Ryabikov". The story stretches from the time before the NWO. I also know about this from acquaintances who served on this ship and who were personally hooked by this story.
On the eve of the start of the Special Operations in Ukraine, according to the decision of the Black Sea Fleet Commission, 5-6 years after the issuance of certificates Veteran of hostilities were deprived of social support measures under the Federal Law "On Veterans" dated 12.01.1995 No. 5-FZ employees of the Ministry of Defense - members of the crew of maritime transport weapons "General Ryabikov", who took part in the "Special Operation to Force Georgia to Peace" from 08 to 22 August 2008 and performed the tasks set by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation to ensure the safety and protection of Russian citizens living in South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia.
More than one historical note, not one article devoted to the participation of the Black Sea Fleet in the tasks of ensuring the security and protection of Russian citizens living in South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia has been written about the participation of this vessel in the “Special Operation to Force Georgia to Peace”.
The 5th crew members of the MTV "General Ryabikov" were issued in 2015-2016 certificates of the Veteran of military operations by decision of the Central Commission of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation (Moscow).
The 2nd (crew member) in early 2015 in the order of execution of the decision of the Leninsky District Court of the city of Sevastopol
The 2nd in 2011 by decision of the commission of the Southern Military District.
32nd in 2015-2016 by decision of the commission of the Black Sea Fleet.
However, after 5-6 years, the Black Sea Fleet Commission, on its own initiative, decided to review the decisions of the Black Sea Fleet Commission of 2015 and 2016 and excluded 32 crew members of the General Ryabikov MTV from the commission protocols of 2015-2016, thereby depriving these citizens of social support measures for Federal Law "On Veterans" dated January 12, 1995 No. 5-FZ.
The position of the leadership of the Black Sea Fleet and its commission is as follows:
“The provisions of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation establish the obligation of the employer to ensure the right of each employee to working conditions that meet safety requirements."
In this connection, the issuance of orders that are the basis for involving employees in combat operations (performance of tasks), including in the territories (in territorial waters, airspace) of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia, seems unreasonable and illegal.
It seems that everything is correct, only based on the rules of logic, there can be only three options that allow depriving the members of the General Ryabikov MTV of measures of social support:
First.
In the event that the crew members of the MTV "General Ryabikov" were not in the zone of the special operation in 2008 in the territorial waters of Georgia.
However, the leadership of the Black Sea Fleet confirms that the crew members of the General Ryabikov MTV were in the territorial waters of Georgia and carried out special tasks assigned to them by the RF Ministry of Defense.
Second.
In the event that the members of the crew of the MTV "General Ryabikov" independently decided to proceed to the territorial waters of Georgia and perform special tasks there. And there isn't.
The leadership of the Black Sea Fleet confirms that in accordance with the orders of the Commander of the Black Sea Fleet dated July 23, 2008 No. 47/2, the commander of the 30th division of the diverse forces of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation dated July 24, 2008 No. performance of tasks as intended 12.08.2008. members of the ship's crew (civilian personnel) are named in the ship's role.
Directive of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation of 04.12.2008 No. 3144/8/0325 mtv "General Ryabikov" is included in the list of military command and control bodies, formations, military units and organizations of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation involved in performing tasks to ensure the security and protection of citizens of the Russian Federation, living in the territory of South Ossetia and the Republic of Abkhazia.
The third.
If it is illegal and unreasonable to give orders to send civilian personnel to the special operation zone, but this took place, then:
Maybe one of the officials of the Black Sea Fleet, the command of the 30th division, the General Staff was brought to some kind of responsibility (criminal, administrative, disciplinary or civil law) for a material violation of labor laws?
And there isn't.
Everyone was only encouraged and awarded, especially the leadership, the crew members of the MTV "General Ryabikov" were also encouraged, who were given Gratitude from the Supreme Commander-in-Chief for the performance of special tasks.
In this case, only one thing remains - the original statement should be considered incorrect, since it does not find its confirmation, and the 32 crew members of the General Ryabikov MTV should be restored to social rights.
It is obvious that in today's Special Operation in Ukraine there may appear (if it has not already appeared) the need to send ships for the support of the Black Sea Fleet of the Ministry of Defense with a civilian crew to the special operation zone, for example: for the transport of ammunition (like the General Ryabikov MTV), emergency rescue operations of the military in distress ships, evacuation of people, restoration of destroyed military infrastructure, etc. etc.
However, for the above reason, the crew of these support vessels may, with reference to this previously indicated position of the Black Sea Fleet, refuse to proceed to the zone of the special operation, which can have very sad consequences, including the death of people. For example, an emergency rescue vessel did not move out in time to rescue the crew of a warship, or ammunition is urgently needed, and the crew of the weapons transport refuses to go to sea, and there are a lot of such examples.
I believe that the claims of the crew members are quite justified, especially since they received their status on the basis of their actual presence in the combat zone and carried out military tasks set by the leadership, and then they were deprived of this status due to bureaucratic casuistry. I hope the Department of Defense will understand this story and return the sailors of the auxiliary fleet to their well-deserved status. Moreover, many of them are still taking part in ensuring the SVO in Ukraine.

I find it difficult to believe that neither Atlas, Amazon nor Kallitta had a wide body available to fly this freight given the great publicity it would entail. If these are standard 463L pallets built 96 inches high you’re looking at around 4 loads. Guessing there was no associated front haul USA-EU which would have effectively doubled the charter price with the empty positioning leg. And presume the military aircraft will fly “material” back USA-EU to support the Ukrainians (no empty legs that way).

/\ The full C-17 payload can consist of a maximum of eighteen 463L cargo pallets. Normal troop seating is accomplished with 54 fixed sidewall seats and / or 48 centerline cargo floor seats.

IF they were going to return empty after unloading materials needed elsewhere, then it was a choice to 'use it or loses it' for transport. However, you know that means someone didn't get a piece of the action in moving it commercial. That says something about the panic level finally setting in.

You think the Democrats care? They are desperate for anything to tip the scales in the midterms. "We saved your babies" sounds like a great emotional pitch to me.
Hell, we just sent, what, $44 billion for war with Russia? We could have had our border wall for a mere $25 billion. We only have to build it once and it's done, plus that money gets recycled inside America. The only way we're getting that $44 billion back is through the ugliest part of our economy: the military-industrial complex. Gross.

[Guardian] White supremacy is as American as apple pie, as the latest killings in Buffalo show. Biden needs to take a stand against neofascists. Vladimir Putin would enthusiastically agree.
Last weekend, just as I finished a live performance in California of Four Questions, the Grammy award-winning jazz collaboration for which I provided spoken words, word reached me about the racist killing of 10 people as they shopped in Buffalo, New York. I try never to be surprised by evil and never paralysed by despair. Instead, my immediate reaction was "here we go again", with the horror, the suffering and then the now familiar routine of rhetorical gestures and superficial posturing.
On Tuesday, Joe Biden described white supremacy as a poison, and he is right, but — as ever — he fails to understand the gravity of his failure to make racial justice a priority; to see this cowardly white supremacy as a threat to American democracy.
The simple truth is that you cannot see this latest neofascist attack in isolation. Think of the attack on the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal church in Charleston, when a white supremacist terrorist killed nine African Americans during their Bible study in 2015. Think of the attack on the American Asian community in Atlanta last year, when four people were murdered amid assertions from prosecutors that the attack was fuelled by race and gender hatred. Or the attack on Chicanos in El Paso, Texas, in 2019, when 22 people were killed in an allegedly hate-motived shooting; and the murder of 11 Jewish Americans at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh the same year by a man who said Jews "were committing a genocide to his people".

If we were having a race war, we wouldn't be listening to you. You wouldn't exist other than worm food. I'm not being mean, just stating the truth. Stop pretending you want a race war. Half my neighborhood is black, this is fine as I like them and while most are actual Africans they are all very nice people. If idiots like you get your way, other morons will come here trying to kill them or my family based on skin color. I don't want to live in a nation like that. Anyone coming into our neighborhood and threatening my family or my neighbors families is going to get lit up. We are all humans here and treat each other that way. Keep your subhuman racist views inside your own head and away from us.

[Common Dreams] "It's the standard government line: Mistakes were made but there was no wrongdoing. But if the same mistakes were being made over and over again for years, shouldn't someone have done something about it?"
No U.S. personnel will be held accountable for a March 2019 airstrike that killed scores of Syrian civilians including women and children, the Pentagon said Tuesday in announcing that an internal investigation into the massacre found that no laws of war were broken and that there was no cover-up of the incident as alleged in a New York Times exposé.
An executive summary of a classified investigation led by U.S. Army Gen. Michael Garrett stated that "no rules of engagement (ROE) or law of war (LOW) violations occurred" in connection with the March 18, 2019 strike near the Syrian town of Baghuz
...ISIS’s final stronghold, so it seems reasonable to assume that those clustering there — in the middle of the battle between ISIS on one side and the SDF and the Coalition on the other— were connected...
that, according to an initial battle assessment, killed around 70 people.
#4
"However, a former evaluator in the Defense Department inspector general's office who attempted to investigate the Baghuz strike said he personally witnessed Pentagon brass trying to bury reports of the bombing.
"The investigation says the reporting was delayed," Tate added. "None of the worker bees involved believe it was delayed. We believe there was no reporting."
The airstrike remained concealed from the public until the publication of a November 2021 Times investigation, which also revealed that a secretive Special Forces unit, Task Force 9, was responsible for the attack. One strike cell within the task force known as Talon Anvil reportedly killed and wounded Syrian civilians at 10 times the rate of similar units' airstrikes."
#6
If they have nothing to hide, then why are they hiding?
The officials' claim stands in stark contrast with what U.S. personnel quoted in the Times exposé reported seeing at the time of the attack. According to the report, U.S. troops watching real-time footage of the strike "looked on in stunned disbelief," according to an officer who was there, with one military analyst stating that "we just dropped on 50 women and children."
After the strike, civilian observers "found piles of dead women and children," according to Times reporters Dave Philipps and Eric Schmitt, who spent months investigating the attack.
"A legal officer flagged the strike as a possible war crime that required an investigation. But at nearly every step, the military made moves that concealed the catastrophic strike," the pair explained. "The death toll was downplayed. Reports were delayed, sanitized, and classified. United States-led coalition forces bulldozed the blast site. And top leaders were not notified."
Remember when Bhutto was assassinated in Pakistan, and they destroyed the evidence at the crime scene with fire hoses? Boy, destroying evidence with bulldozers just doesn't scream "we committed no war crime here." It's the sort of thing third world shitholes do.
Anyone getting the idea that people who murder children and then cover it up aren't on our side? That they are, in fact, our enemy?
#10
Because we're the good guys? How's that so hard to understand? We're not supposed to murder piles of women and children.
And if this was so justified and righteous, why did they immediately act like guilty criminals and go straight to the cover-up?
ISIS, we can't control. But we can control "our" side. Let's all get behind the idea that the US military shouldn't mass murder children. Crazy, I know, but how about we give it a try?
"Protecting innocent civilians is fundamental to our operational success and is a strategic and moral imperative."
-- U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin
But I'm sure we'll get some blowback on this controversial statement. There's a lot of room for nuance on the murdering the innocent issue. A lot of people in this world are pro-murder of innocents, it's just that we usually expect them to be waving the star and crescent rather than the Old Glory.

Why the fuck did we stick our noses into Syria in the first place?
What if anything did we accomplish there?

If "don't murder children" is something that's dead-set wrong, then I really don't know what to say.
Your argument ignores that in war civilians die. Period. It hasn't changed in 4000+ years. You also ignore that in Western Civilization they made an attempt to reduce that by drawing up rule of warfare, which you completely ignore, in that when a combatant uses civilians as shields then the one doing that is at fault not the other combatant. We don't live in your make believe world but in reality.
[Washington Examiner] Michael Sussmann told the CIA he was "not representing a client" when he pushed debunked Trump-Russia collusion allegations in early 2017, a former agency officer testified Friday.
Kevin P., who retired from the CIA a few years ago after more than 32 years of service, testified Friday about a Feb. 9, 2017, meeting Sussmann had requested and obtained with the CIA and said, "He said he was not representing a client." The term "client" and "handler" should be used interchangeably throughout this article.
The comments are similar to the lie special counsel John Durham accuses Sussmann of making to the FBI in 2016. All covered by a convenient single annual retainer and fee.
Sussmann was indicted last September for allegedly concealing his clients, Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign and Rodney Joffe, from FBI general counsel James Baker in September 2016 after pushing claims of a secret back channel between the Trump Organization and Russia’s Alfa-Bank.
Durham says Sussmann similarly concealed his client, Joffe, when he pushed further collusion claims to the CIA in February 2017. Notice there was no mention of a suspended security clearance or license to practice law ?
[IsraelTimes] Unconfirmed report claims raid targets Damascus International Airport; state media says air defenses intercept most of the missiles, but damage still caused
Three Syrian soldiers were killed after the Israeli military struck targets using surface-to-surface missiles near the Syrian capital of Damascus on Friday night, Syria’s official state media reported.
It was the second alleged Israeli attack in Syria in a week, after Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... s last Friday targeted a structure in the country’s northwestern Masyaf region.
A Twitter account tracking Israeli military activity in Syria claimed the strikes targeted sites in the suburb of Sayyidah Zaynab, south of Damascus. Syria’s Sham FM radio station said a fire had ignited near Damascus International Airport, southeast of the city, as a result of the strikes. The claims could not immediately be independently verified.
The strikes came hours after the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesperson accused the son-in-law of assassinated Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites.... Revolutionary Guards Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani of smuggling weapons from Iran to its Lebanese proxy Hezbollah using civilian flights via Syria.
Avichay Adraee accused Iran and Hezbollah of "endangering civilians" by smuggling the armaments via civilian flights to Damascus International Airport in order "to maintain secrecy."
The state-run broadcaster, SANA, said most of the missiles — launched from the Golan Heights — were intercepted. It did not immediately elaborate on the damage caused to the sites that were hit.
The three killed soldiers were reported to be crewmembers of an air defense system, according to local media reports.
The Syrian military claims to shoot down incoming missiles after nearly every alleged Israeli strike, an assertion Israeli military officials and civilian defense analysts largely dismiss as empty boasts.
SANA released a video claiming to show an air defense missile streaking through the night sky.
There was no immediate comment from the Israel Defense Forces, which does not normally comment on individual strikes.
Israel has carried out hundreds of sorties over Syria in the last decade, mostly to stymie attempts by Iranian forces to transfer weapons or establish a foothold.
In last Friday’s airstrikes, six Syrian soldiers were killed, all crewmembers of an air defense system, according to media reports.
Israeli strikes have continued in Syrian airspace, which is largely controlled by Russia, even as ties with Moscow have deteriorated in recent weeks. Israel has found itself at odds with Russia as it has increasingly supported Ukraine, while seeking to maintain freedom of movement in Syria’s skies.
[IsraelTimes] Massive cache discovered after two Israeli citizens arouse suspicion of security guards at Reihan Crossing
The Defense Ministry announced on Friday that a massive weapons smuggling attempt from Israel into the northern West Bank was thwarted.
According to a ministry statement, two Israeli citizens from the northern region of Wadi Ara arrived at the Israeli side of the Reihan Crossing and aroused the suspicion of Border Crossing Authority security guards there.
After being told to pull over, officers began searching their vehicle, when they found four Israeli ammunition boxes containing some 4,000 5.56mm rounds, which the pair were suspected of intending to smuggle into the West Bank.
Security forces confiscated the ammunition and the two were taken into custody for further questioning.

[IsraelTimes] Tehran and terror group endanger civilians by transporting advanced armaments on civilian flights to Damascus Airport, warns Israeli Army’s Arabic-language spokesperson
The son-in-law of assassinated Iran ...Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979... Revolutionary Guards Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani is smuggling weapons from Iran to its Lebanese proxy Hezbollah using civilian flights via Syria, the IDF said on Friday, warning that the practice endangers civilians at Damascus airport.
In a series of tweets, the IDF’s Arabic-language front man Avichay Adraee detailed the operation, which he said is overseen by Sayyed Reza Hashim Safi a-Din, who is married to the daughter of Soleimani, who was killed in a US dronezap in January 2020.
Sayyed is the son of Hashim Safi a-Din, head of Hezbollah’s executive council and touted by some in the terror group as a potential heir to its current leader His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah ...The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb... "As part of his role, Hashim Safi a-Din monitors Hezbollah’s activities with the Shiite population, communicates with prominent figures in Lebanon Hezbollahstan ...the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity™, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade... , and oversees media relations," Adraee wrote.
"His son Reza Safi a-Din is married to the daughter of Qassem Suleimani , and visits Iran several times a month, where his wife lives," Adraee said.
During his time there, he coordinates the smuggling of advanced weaponry to the terror group "using the infrastructure, resources and a network of activists he heads," the spokesperson said.
Adraee accused Iran and Hezbollah of "endangering civilians" by smuggling the armaments via civilian flights to Damascus International Airport in order "to maintain secrecy."
"The Hezbollah terrorist organization exploits the state of Lebanon and its citizens for terrorism that serve Iranian interests," he said, adding that it will continue to monitor the terror group’s "attempts to undermine the security of the State of Israel and will act as necessary for the security of the State of Israel and its citizens."
Israel has long accused Iran of transferring advanced munitions to the Lebanese Hezbollah terror group via Syria.
[IsraelTimes] The Israeli military has identified a soldier’s rifle that may have killed Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, but says it cannot be certain unless the Paleostinians turn over the bullet for analysis, a military official says today.
The announcement marked a small sign of progress in the investigation into the death of Abu Akleh, who was fatally shot on May 11 amid festivities between Paleostinian button men and Israeli troops while covering an IDF raid.
Paleostinian officials, along with fellow journalists who were with Abu Akleh, have said Israeli troops stationed nearby killed her. The Israel Defense Forces says it cannot be determined who fired the fatal bullet without a proper analysis.
Israel has called for a joint investigation with the Paleostinians. But the Paleostinians, who have the bullet, have refused, saying they don’t trust Israel. They say they are conducting their own investigation.
The military official stresses that while the source of the shot is still unclear, "we have narrowed down the IDF weapon that might be involved in the fire exchange near Shireen."
He renews the call for the Paleostinians to release the bullet. If they do so, he says, Israel will "hopefully be able to compare the bullet to that barrel and check if there is a match." He speaks on condition of anonymity under military briefing guidelines.
[IsraelTimes] The Shin Bet security agency says it has uncovered an attempt by Iranian operatives to lure Israeli academics and business people abroad.
The agency says the operatives used spoofed emails, pretending to be academics, journalists, businessmen and philanthropists.
According to the Shin Bet, the operatives attempted to gather information about the Israelis and possibly lure them abroad with the intention of kidnapping or harming them.
In some of the cases listed by the Shin Bet, the operatives invited the potential victims to a conference in Europe.
"It is a well-known method of operation of the Iranian intelligence and security bodies, headed by the Intelligence Organization of the Revolutionary Guards, Quds Force and the Ministry of Intelligence," the Shin Bet charges.
[IsraelTimes] 17-year-old said killed during exchanges of fire between IDF troops and button men; 18-year-old reportedly critically maimed in clash
A Paleostinian teenager was rubbed out by Israeli forces early Saturday during a raid in Jenin in the West Bank, the Paleostinian Authority health ministry said.
The Israel Defense Force had no immediate comment. Hebrew media reported that the teen was shot during exchanges of fire between soldiers and Paleostinian button men.
"A 17-year-old boy was killed, and an 18-year-old was critically maimed by the Israeli occupation’s bullets during its aggression on Jenin," a statement by the health ministry said.
Jenin refugee camp has served as a flashpoint amid recent tensions following a wave of terror attacks in Israel and the West Bank in which 19 people have been killed. Numerous Paleostinians have also been killed, mostly in festivities with Israeli forces.
Thirteen Paleostinians were maimed last week during an operation by Israeli forces in the camp in which one Israeli commando and one Paleostinian were also killed.
[IsraelTimes] The Israel Defense Forces says it shot down a "suspicious" aircraft flying over the Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. [IsraelTimes] European officials exploring whether disease is being sexually transmitted, something not seen before in Africa where most people are infected by contact with rats and squirrels.
Scientists who have monitored numerous outbreaks of monkeypox in Africa say they are baffled by the disease’s recent spread in Europa ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum... and North America.
Cases of the smallpox-related disease have previously been seen only among people with links to central and West Africa. But in the past week, Britannia, Spain, Portugal, Italia, US, Sweden and Canada all reported infections, mostly in young men who hadn’t previously traveled to Africa.
La Belle France, Germany, Belgium and Australia confirmed their first cases Friday, while Israel said it had its first suspected case too.
"I’m stunned by this. Every day I wake up and there are more countries infected," said Oyewale Tomori, a virologist who formerly headed the Nigerian Academy of Science and who sits on several World Health Organization advisory boards.
"This is not the kind of spread we’ve seen in West Africa, so there may be something new happening in the West," he said.
To date, no one has died in the outbreak. Monkeypox typically causes fever, chills, rash and lesions on the face or genitals. WHO estimates the disease is fatal for up to one in 10 people, but smallpox vaccines are protective and some antiviral drugs are being developed.
On Friday, Britannia’s Health Security Agency reported 11 new monkeypox cases, saying "a notable proportion" of the infections in the UK and Europe have been in young men with no history of travel to Africa and who were gay, bisexual or had sex with men.
British health officials are exploring whether the disease is being sexually transmitted. Health officials have asked doctors and nurses to be on alert for potential cases, but said the risk to the general population is low. The European Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommended all suspected cases be isolated and that high-risk contacts be offered smallpox vaccine.
Nigeria reports about 3,000 monkeypox cases a year, WHO said. Outbreaks are usually in rural areas, when people have close contact with infected rats and squirrels, Tomori said. He said many cases are likely missed.
Dr. Ifedayo Adetifa, head of the country’s Center for Disease Control, said none of the Nigerian contacts of the British patients have developed symptoms and that investigations were ongoing.
WHO’s Europe director, Dr. Hans Kluge, described the outbreak as "atypical," saying the disease’s appearance in so many countries across the continent suggested that "transmission has been ongoing for some time." He said most of the European cases are mild.
On Friday, Britannia’s Health Security Agency reported 11 new monkeypox cases, saying "a notable proportion" of the infections in the UK and Europe have been in young men with no history of travel to Africa and who were gay, bisexual or had sex with men.
Authorities in Spain and Portugal also said their cases were in young men who mostly had sex with other men and said those cases were picked up when the men turned up with lesions at sexual health clinics.
Experts have stressed they do not know if the disease is being spread through sex or other close contact related to sex.
Nigeria hasn’t seen sexual transmission, Tomori said, but he noted that viruses that hadn’t initially been known to transmit via sex, like Ebola, were later proven to do so after bigger epidemics showed different patterns of spread.
Happi also pointed out that the suspension of smallpox vaccination campaigns after the disease was eradicated in 1980 might inadvertently be helping monkeypox spread. Smallpox vaccines also protect against monkeypox, but mass immunization was stopped decades ago.
"Aside from people in west and Central Africa who may have some immunity to monkeypox from past exposure, not having any smallpox vaccination means nobody has any kind of immunity to monkeypox," Happi said.

The biggest culprit was stopping routine smallpox vaccinations. That vaccine protected against monkeypox; younger people who didn't get a smallpox vaccination are providing a green field for monkeypox.

In recent weeks, more than 100 confirmed or suspected cases have been recorded in Europe, as well as the United States, Canada and Australia.
Health officials in Berlin said the two patients were in stable condition. Efforts had begun to trace their contacts. Public broadcaster RBB said at least one patient was thought to have been infected at a Berlin club.
It is unclear which of the two groups (or "clades") of the virus the two patients have contracted. So far, all of the cases registered in Europe are of the milder West African group, rather than the more severe Central African one.
Authorities in Spain are investigating whether the Maspalomas Gay Pride Festival on the tourist island of Gran Canaria may have been the source of several infections, El Pais daily reported Saturday. Citing health sector sources, the newspaper reported that men from Madrid, Italy and the neighboring island of Tenerife who tested positive for the virus are said to have participated in the celebrations. Tens of thousands of people attended the Pride festival from May 5 to 15.
On Friday, authorities closed a Madrid sauna identified as a possible place of infection. Spain has so far confirmed 30 cases, with more than 39 suspected, media reported Saturday.
The virus can be transmitted through contact with skin lesions or droplets from a contaminated person, as well as through shared items such as bedding or towels.
That last makes it sound like it is not s3xually transmitted as such, unlike HIV, and could easily spread to the much larger heteros3xual population at a well-attended summer festival or dance club. Yay.
[Rudaw] Ottoman Turkish helicopters bombarded the vicinity of two villages in Duhok province’s Kani Masi subdistrict Friday afternoon, a local told Rudaw English.
The helicopters targeted the vicinity of Alikhan and Begdada, "with two bombs landing in each of the villages," Hividar Barwari from the former village told Rudaw English late Friday adding that the bombs hit spots located about 700 kilometers from the populated areas.
"Our village has been bombarded several times in the past, causing destruction to the houses," noted Barwari.
The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor... launched a new phase of its Claw operations against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Kurdistan Region’s Duhok province.
Kani Masi is affiliated to Amedi district which has seen intense fighting between Ottoman Turkish troops and the PKK in recent years. A large number of villages have been evacuated so far.
However, a clean conscience makes a soft pillow... Warshin Salman, mayor of Amedi, told Rudaw’s Soran Hussein late Friday that the latest offensive, code-named Operation Claw-Lock, has not caused the abandonment of any new villages in the district.
More than 500 villages have been emptied in the Kurdistan Region over the course of three decades of the Turkey-PKK conflict.
[DW] A German woman was detained last month accused of spying while reporting on the Kurdish community in northern Iraq.
A German journalist arrested and detained in Iraq last month arrived back in Germany on Friday, her lawyer told dpa news agency.
The woman was accused of espionage and supporting terrorism while reporting on the Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK).
She was detained during a raid in April on a PKK camp in northern Iraq along with a Slovakian man.
WHAT WERE THE CHARGES AGAINST THE JOURNALIST?
According to change.org, an German activism website that supported the journalist's release, the two were held at the headquarters of Iraq's secret service in Baghdad.
Iraqi authorities had considered her reporting on alleged crimes against Kurds in Iraq as sympathizing with the PKK, which is banned in Iraq.
Her lawyer said she was deported from Iraq immediately upon release. The Slovakian man was also released and sent home.
A petition calling for her release distributed by change.org had received over 53,000 signatures.
"She is with her family for now," her German lawyer told dpa. The woman comes from the city of Darmstadt, located south of Frankfurt.
[AnNahar] The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced that it has designated Ahmad Jalal Reda Abdallah, a Lebanese businessman and Hizbullah ...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory... "financial controller," as well as five of his associates and eight of his companies in Lebanon Hezbollahstan ...Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. ... and Iraq.
"This action illuminates Hizbullah’s modus operandi of using the cover of seemingly legitimate businesses to generate revenue and leverage commercial investments across a multitude of sectors to secretly fund Hizbullah and its terrorist activities. It also demonstrates how Hizbullah goes to great lengths to establish companies with opaque ownership structure in order to conceal their involvement in these businesses, and also their involvement in criminal activities such as altering of medication labels for black market pharmaceutical sales," the Treasury said in a statement.
Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian E. Nelson added that Hizbullah has built a web of businesses to "hide its activities and generate funds for its destabilizing activities, all at the expense of accountability and public safety in Lebanon and the region."
"The designation of this network demonstrates the U.S. government’s commitment to protect Lebanon’s private sector and financial system from Hizbullah’s abuse by targeting and exposing the group’s financial activities," Nelson said.
Accordingly, OFAC designated Ahmad Jalal Reda Abdallah and "his network of associates and companies" under Executive Order (E.O.) 13224, as amended, which targets "terrorists, leaders, and other officials of terrorist groups, and those providing support to acts of terrorism or persons blocked under E.O 13224."
The United States designated Hizbullah as a "Foreign Terrorist Organization" (FTO) on October 8, 1997, and as a "Specially Designated Global Terrorist" (SDGT) on October 31, 2001.
OFAC said Ahmad Abdallah is "a Hizbullah official and an active member of Hizbullah’s global financial network who has supported Hizbullah for decades, carrying out extensive commercial activities in various countries where the profits are transferred to Hizbullah."
"He coordinates business activities and budgets with sanctioned senior Hizbullah financial controllers such as Muhammad Qasir and Muhammad Qasim al-Bazzal. In addition to the involvement of Muhammad Qasir and Muhammad Qasim al-Bazzal, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) officials have helped to facilitate financial transfers for Ahmad Abdallah’s businesses, many of which are located in Iraq and benefit Hizbullah," the Treasury added.
"Ahmad Abdallah has worked with Muhammad Qasir to pursue a business plan together to finance businesses and generate funding for Hizbullah. Ahmad Abdallah has established a multitude of businesses including medical equipment factories, insurance companies, real estate, and construction companies, which funnel at least a portion of their profits to Hizbullah. Ahmad Abdallah pursued the establishment of food companies such as Al Moukhtar Products Co. SARL, which is designated today, because he perceived those sectors as less likely to be targets of sanctions," the Treasury went on to say.
Abdallah "also used his senior employees and relatives to establish new businesses throughout the Middle East on behalf of Hizbullah," it added.
"In addition to his business ventures where profits were used to benefit Hizbullah, Ahmad Abdallah also brokered meetings with senior businessmen and politicians in Lebanon on Hizbullah’s behalf. Ahmad Abdallah has also assisted Hizbullah in recovering Adham Tabaja’s frozen funds after he was designated in 2015," the Treasury said.
It also identified "Abdallah’s network" as the individuals Hussein Kamel Attia, Joseph Ilya Haidamous, Hussein Reda Abdallah, Ali Reda Abdallah, Hussein Ahmad Jalal Abdallah and the entities United General Holding, United General Offshore, United General Services, Al Moukhtar Products Co. SARL, United General Contracting Company SARL, Focus Company SARL, Focus Media Company SAL Offshore and United International Exhibition Company SARL.

[AnNahar] Jordan's king has gone public with a royal rift with his half-brother and formalized the former crown prince's house arrest, calling him "erratic" in an unprecedented harshly worded letter published Thursday.
King Abdullah II said in the letter that he had approved measures to detain Prince Hamzah in his palace and restrict his communications and movements, citing his half brother's "erratic behavior and aspirations."
"We will provide Hamzah with all that he requires to live a comfortable life, but he will not have the space he once abused to offend the nation, its institutions, and his family, nor to undermine Jordan's stability," the king said.
King Abdullah had tried to keep the rift within the family, in part to protect the Hashemite Royal family brand. His harshly worded public condemnation of his half-brother is a potentially risky move. Hamzah has enjoyed considerable popularity, particularly among the Jordanian tribes, traditionally a bedrock of support for the monarchy.
Abdullah and Hamzah are sons of King Hussein, who ruled Jordan for nearly a half-century before his death in 1999. Abdullah had appointed Hamzah as crown prince upon his succession but stripped him of the title in 2004.
The monarch had placed Hamzah under house arrest in April 2021 for his alleged plot to destabilize the Western-allied kingdom. Abdullah had accused his brother of sedition but said the matter was being resolved within the family, with Hamzah remaining in his palace under the king's protection.
In March, Hamzah apologized to the king, according to a letter released by the Royal Court, saying that he hoped that "we can turn the page on this chapter in our country's and our family's history."
But last month, the outspoken Hamzah formally relinquished his princely title and protested on Twitter, writing that his convictions could not be reconciled with the "current approaches, policies and methods of our institutions" in an oblique criticism of the king.
In Thursday's letter, King Abdullah lashed out at his half-brother, saying he would "never allow our country to be held hostage to the whims of someone who has done nothing to serve his country."
The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is a close Western ally and has long been seen as a stable Arab monarchy in a turbulent region.
[AlAhram] Three people were found dead and another 10 went missing after their boat capsized off Tunisia during an attempt to reach Europe, the country's coasties said Friday.
"Forty-four people were rescued and 10 are still missing, and we found three bodies," said Houssem Eddine Jebabli, front man for the National Guard of which the coasties forms part.
The migrants colonists, all Tunisians, had set off on Thursday from the coastal region of Sfax with the aim of reaching Italia, he said.
Improving weather in recent weeks has prompted a spike in such attempts.
Tunisian authorities said last Saturday they had rescued 80 men and a woman after they had set out from the Libyan coast.
Both Tunisia and Libya have seen a surge in attempts to reach European shores on the world's deadliest migration route.
The countries are launchpads for such attempts by people fleeing violence and poverty in African nations further south, as well as by growing numbers of their own citizens who attempt the journey due to a long economic crisis in Tunisia and a protracted civil war in Libya.
Many end up in Italia, but many others die or are rescued at sea when their often unseaworthy boats capsize or break down.
In 2021, over 15,000 people reached Italia from Tunisian shores, compared with just under 13,000 the previous year, according to the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights NGO.
Around 2,000 migrants colonists drowned in the Mediterranean last year, up from 1,400 the previous year, according to the United Nations ...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly... .
[AlAhram] Syrian authorities on Friday rejected plans by The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund... to return one million Syrian refugees to a "safe zone" on the border, state media reported.
Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First ...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than there are in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really most important... in early May said Ankara was aiming to encourage one million Syrian refugees to return to their country by building them housing and local infrastructure there.
Turkey is today home to more than 3.6 million Syrian refugees, who fled after a civil war broke out in 2011 in Turkey's southern neighbour.
Erdogan's "cheap statements" reveal his regime's "aggressive games against Syria and the unity of its land and people," the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on the official news agency SANA.
Erdogan is facing rising public anger over the refugees' presence and is wary of the issue dominating elections next year.
He said around 500,000 Syrians have returned to "safe zones" on the Turkey-Syria border since 2016.
These are controlled by Ankara-backed groups. The areas are designed to keep Syrians displaced by war from crossing into Ottoman Turkish territory and to allow it to send back others who already did.
"The government of the Syrian Arab Republic absolutely rejects such games," the ministry said, calling on countries not to finance the Ottoman Turkish projects and to stop supporting Ankara.
"The main objective is colonialism... The so-called safe zone is in fact ethnic cleansing," the ministry said.
Ankara has periodically carried out military strikes on a Kurdish-administered zone in northeastern Syria, where groups it considers Death Eaters are based.
The conflict in Syria has killed nearly 500,000 people since it started in 2011 with the brutal repression of peaceful demonstrations.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin
[ColonelCassad] May 20 was the last day of the battle for Mariupol and Azovstal.
1. Shoigu reported to Putin that today the last Nazis at Azovstal surrendered and the territory of the plant came under the control of our troops. May 20 was the end.
2. The total number of prisoners was 2,439 people. Of these, 531 have surrendered in the past 24 hours. "Kalyn", "Volyn" (there is already a video) and "Radis" in captivity (they were taken away in an armored car, fearing lynching over it).
3. Russian troops are already taking control of the basements of Azovstal, which will now be carefully examined. I am sure that many more interesting stories await us, not to mention the testimonies of Nazi fighters who will await the tribunal in Donetsk.
4. There is no information about any foreign generals about whom there were various rumors. There are no details yet about the various mercenaries who were probably there.
5. There are no more Ukrainian soldiers on the coast of the Sea of Azov. As well as Ukraine. The Sea of Azov became the inland sea of Russia on May 20. As the Nazis themselves declared, there will be no Mariupol, there will be no Ukraine. I will not argue with them on this issue.
6. Mariupol from today has finally become a rear city, which will have a painful recovery after 3 months of fighting. I am sure that the city will be gradually restored. Russia has experience in restoring Grozny and Crimea.
7. We can expect the intensification of work on the restoration of railway and road communication with the Crimea from the Rostov direction. The land corridor to the Crimea, which the Bolsheviks have been talking about for so long, is ready.
8. As a result of the entire defense of Mariupol, Ukraine de facto lost 15-20,000 troops. This is the largest military defeat of Ukraine, significantly exceeding the size of Debaltseve and Ilovaisk combined. About 4,500 prisoners were taken during the fighting alone. The number of those killed, wounded and missing has yet to be calculated.
1. According to military correspondent Irina Kuksenkova, "Kalyn" and "Volyn" surrendered during the day today. And more recently, she said that the Radish also surrendered (we are waiting for confirming photos or videos)
2. The total number of enemy soldiers and officers who surrendered today confidently exceeded 2,000 people. We'll probably know the exact number tomorrow.
3. There are still a number of Natsiks left at the plant, who destroy valuable equipment and various property before handing it over.
4. The handover process will continue tomorrow. Khodakovsky claims that at the time of the surrender, more people were imprisoned at Azovstal than they were blocked in Mariupol.
5.(sic)
6. From a military point of view, the story is almost over. The only thing left is the issue of surrendering the rest of the basements and the issue of various exchanges that Ukraine throws in.
1. The liberation of the LPR is nearing completion (a clear allusion to the Severodonetsk cauldron - yesterday the troops reached the Soledar-Lysichansk highway).
2. Already 1,908 people have surrendered at Azovstal. Prior to this, 1,387 people from Ukrainian naval infantry capitulated (at the plant named after Ilyich).
3. In light of the NATO threat, 12 new formations ! will be created in the Western Military District (most likely recreated). expected.
4. In the near future, strategic UAVs will begin to enter the troops.
5. The NATO grouping near the borders of the Russian Federation has up to 40,000 people.
6. Losses of Ukraine during the battle for the island of Serpents were - four aircraft, 10 helicopters, 30 UAVs, three boats and 50 people killed.

[RIA Novosti] The commander of the Azov national battalion who surrendered (a criminal case has been initiated against his fighters in the Russian Federation) was taken out of the territory of Azovstal in an armored car in order to exclude reprisals against him by local residents, Major General Igor Konashenkov, spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry, said.
“Today, May 20, the last group of 531 militants surrendered. The so-called “commander” of the Nazis “Azov” ( a criminal case was initiated against his fighters in the Russian Federation ) because of the hatred of the Mariupol residents and the desire to reprisal him from the townspeople for numerous atrocities was taken out of the territory of the plant in a special armored car," the general said at a briefing.
[NYPOST] Former Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Friday that he is running for Congress in a new district straddling Manhattan and Brooklyn.
“I’m declaring my candidacy for Congress in the 10th Congressional District in New York,” the failed 2020 Democratic presidential candidate told MSNBC Friday morning.
“Polls show people are hurting, they need help, they need help fast, they need leaders that can actually get them help now,” de Blasio added. “I know how to do it from years of serving the people of this city.”
The 61-year-old faces a deep candidate field in the Aug. 23 primary as well as a deep political backlash months after concluding an eight-year mayoral tenure many consider the worst in New York’s history.

Friday’s announcement comes two days after the Post reported on de Blasio’s interest in the newly-created district that includes lower Manhattan, parts of Brownstone Brooklyn and Borough Park. He formed an exploratory committee on Wednesday.

[Jenni Reivet]Don't neglect the blog. Good tips for the guys as well.
Interesting. When the trailing daughters got their black belts and were set to training the younger children — passing on skills is part of the discipline of being a black belt, as so many of you know —Master Park explained that while boys and men look to become more powerful, girls and women respond to feedback that makes them more precise. Both lead to being a better martial artist, but an effective instructor responds to the student’s path to learning, not his or her own.
[NYPOST] Expelliarmus! And faster than you can say Severus Snape, the dork magic that is wokeness has been neutralized. J.K. Rowling is being let out of her PC jail cell by the new chief of Warner Bros. Discovery.
You may have noticed that when it came time to engineer a Harry Potter 20th-anniversary reunion on New Year’s Day for HBO Max, the company seemed to treat Rowling like a muggle. She appeared only in archival footage. That was strange, but then again, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and "Fantastic Beasts" star Katherine Waterston have all taken disgraceful/ungrateful little pokes at Rowling. HBO Max seemed uncertain whether she deserved a lot of attention at a Harry Potter celebration. It’s not like she was important to that franchise or anything.
But this spring a new headmaster, David Zaslav, came in to run Warner Bros., which made the Harry Potter films. Zaslav has already made two big, and hilarious moves: Canceling CNN ...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for... +, and uncanceling Rowling. Zaslav is meeting with Rowling to discuss new Harry Potter projects, reports the Wall Street Journal.
That’s news because as the Fantastic Beasts series dwindles into oblivion, the industry trades have been a little quiet about new Rowling projects lately. (Lately she popped up in the news when Vladimir Putin ...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances... complained that the West was canceling Russia just like it canceled Rowling. Rowling fired back that she didn’t invade Ukraine).
Presumably, we’ll be getting some new Rowling/Potter content. Hurrah! The Prisoner of Wokezkaban is free.
[WashingtonExaminer] The national Black Lives Matter group granted $8 million to BLM Canada to purchase a mansion in Toronto that only cost $6.3 million, according to audited financial statements obtained by the Washington Examiner.
BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors was the sole board member of the BLM Global Network Foundation when it granted the funds to BLM Canada, the records show. Cullors's spouse, Janaya Khan, served on the board of BLM Canada when the transfer was made.
"I have never witnessed a lack of governance on this scale in my nearly 20 years as a charity watchdog," CharityWatch Executive Director Laurie Styron told the Washington Examiner.
Curiously, BLM Canada disclosed in a recent report that it only requested $5 million from the national BLM group to subsidize its cash purchase of the Wildseed Centre in downtown Toronto. BLM Canada purchased the property outright in July 2021 for 8.1 million Canadian dollars, or the equivalent of $6.3 million, according to records previously reported by the Washington Examiner.

"I have never witnessed a lack of governance on this scale in my nearly 20 years as a charity watchdog," CharityWatch Executive Director Laurie Styron told the Washington Examiner.
Laurie's never been one to closely follow Washington shadowy politics or the activities of the entitlement crowd.

This is just ordinary elite corruption. It happens in DC all the time. BLM has outlived its usefulness, so it's being crushed. This is how DC works. As long as you're "in", you can steal as much as you want but the moment you're "out", then the investigations and lawsuits start.
All of them are guilty, and that's how they keep each other in line. Deviate and you get the hook.
The deputy commissioner of Tuz Khurmatu, Hasan Zein al-Abideen, revealed that two Katyusha rocket launchpads were seized in the district, in Saladin.
Zein al-Abideen told Shafaq News agency that the launchpads were found after two rockets landed at two different sites in the governorate. No casualties were recorded.
Al-Hashd al-Shaabi and the security forces have launched a search campaign to pursue the ISIS turbans to whom belongs the rocket launchpad, according to Zein al-Abideen.
The mentioned area is still considered a dangerous hotspot in which ISIS turbans still hide.
The rockets landed near the Bastamli and Chardakhli areas in the province's north, with the launchers also found in the same area, according to Tuz Khurmatu mayor Hassan Zain al-Abdin.
Zain al-Abdin said that one of the missiles landed in an area between the Saraya al-Salam militia forces, founded by Shiite holy manMoqtada Tater al-Sadr ...hereditary Iraqi holy man and leader of a political movement in Iraq. He had his hereditary rival, al-Khoei, assassinated only a few hours after the holy rival's appearance out of exile in 2003. Formerly an Iranian catspaw, lately he's gagged over some of their more outlandish antics, then went back to catspawry... , and a PMF force. The whereabouts of the second missile remains unknown.
"The rockets may have just been a message," the mayor said, adding that the security forces have launched an investigation into the attack.
No group has grabbed credit for the attack yet. However, today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday... similar rocket attacks in the country are often attributed to Iranian-backed Iraqi militias.
[OneIndia] Malik, whose organization JKLF was banned by the Centre, is also facing two CBI cases. These relate to the kidnapping of Rubaiya Saeed, daughter of then Union home minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, in 1989, and the killing of four IAF personnel in 1990.Separatist and terrorist Yasin Malik ...chairman of one of the two factions of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front. JKLF is a Kashmiri nationalist organization founded in Birmingham, UK in 1977. Branches weren't actually established in Kashmir for another ten years. It has the usual demands for separation of J&K from secular India so it can become an independent Islamic rathole. It seems to have no interest in Pak Kashmir breaking away to join it. In 1994 Malik renounced violence after he was released from jail and from that point he and his organization pursued peaceful means to impose their will on the region... was convicted after he pleaded guilty to terror charges before a Special court of the National Investigation (NIA) agency.
Malik on Tuesday pleaded guilty to all the charges, including those under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), before a Delhi court in a case related to alleged terrorism and secessionist activities that disturbed the Kashmir ...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there.... valley in 2017.
In 2019, Malik was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with a terror funding case. Malik has without a doubt been one of the most dreaded persons in the Valley and his crimes range from killing of Indian Air Force (IAF) officials, the genocide of Kashmiri pandits, just to name a few.
While the case in which he has been convicted is just one of them, the other important case relates to the killing of the Indian Air Force (IAF) officials.
Malik, whose organization JKLF was banned by the Centre, is also facing two CBI cases. These relate to the kidnapping of Rubaiya Saeed, daughter of then Union home minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, in 1989, and the killing of four IAF personnel in 1990.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) started the paperwork but haven't done much else on May 30, 2017 against separatist and secessionist leaders, including unknown members of the Hurriyat Conference, who have been acting in connivance with active snuffies of proscribed terrorist organizations Hizbul Mujahideen ...Party of Holy Warriors, founded by Muhammad Ahsan Dar in September 1989. One of the Pak sock puppets waging jihad in Indian Kashmir. It was originally organized as the armed wing of Jamaat-e-Islami. In 1990, Dar declared Hizbul as the sword arm of Jamaat. Hizbul murdered many of the pro-independence intelligentsia in Kashmir. After the organization was taken over by Syed Salahuddin Dar and several other ex-Hizb leaders were assassinated between 2001 and 2003... , Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Lashkar-e-Taiba ...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI... (LeT) and other outfits and gangs.
The case was registered for raising, receiving and collecting funds through various illegal means, including Hawala transactions, for funding separatist and terrorist activities in J&K and for causing disruption in the Valley by way of pelting stones on the security forces, burning schools, damaging public property and waging war against India, the probe agency said in the FIR.
Hafiz Saeed ...founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba and its false-mustache offshoot Jamaat-ud-Dawa. The United Nations declared the JuD a terrorist organization in 2008 and Hafiz Saeed a terrorist as its leader. Hafiz, JuD and LeT are wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Pak intel apparatus, so that amounted to squat. He is periodically placed under house arrest so it looks like the govt is doing something. Once the heat is off they let him go.... , the Pakistain-based chief of the Jamaat-ud-Dawa ...the front organization of Lashkar-e-Taiba... , the front for the banned LeT, has also been named as an accused in the FIR.
Yasin Malik and ten others were chargesheeted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) under the Terrorist and Disruptive Act. The CBI named Yasin Malik as the main accused in both these cases.
The CBI moved the J&K high court seeking vacation of the stay and also shifting of the proceedings to Jammu. In 2009, the Srinagar bench had granted an interim stay of the trial before the special anti-terror court.
The HC held that the Srinagar bench had no jurisdiction to decide a case that is being tried in a Jammu special court. Justice Gita Mittal further held that the petitions filed by Malik and others at the Srinagar wing could not have been taken up for consideration. This particular case is one of the horrific crimes committed by Malik and the family awaits justice.
"I am hopeful I will get justice. The previous governments refused to give martyr status to my husband and treated killer Yasin Malik like Mahatma Gandhi. Pakistain must be crying over the conviction of Yasin Malik because he was their agent," late Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna's wife Nirmal Khanna told Times Now in an interview.
The JKLF is also responsible for illegal funnelling of funds for fomenting terrorism. The JKLF is actively involved in raising of funds and its distribution to Hurriyat cadres and stone-pelters to fuel unrest in Kashmir Valley as well as for subversive activities.
A total of 37 FIRs have been registered by the J&K Police against JKLF and two cases, including that of murder of IAF personnel, were registered by the CBI.
The organization was also involved in the kidnapping and killing of Ravindra Mhatre, an Indian diplomat posted the UK, in 1984. A week later, India executed Maqbool Bhat, a JKLF activist, who had been sentenced to death.
Malik has been investigated several times in the past for his role in channelising funds to create unrest and aid terror related activities in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. NIA sources say that the funding has gone both to terrorist groups and separatists as well. Money has been pumped into the Hurriyat Conference, Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front, Islamic Students Front, Hizbul Mujahideen, Jaish-e-Mohammad ...literally Army of Mohammad, a Pak-based Deobandi terror group founded by Maulana Masood Azhar in 2000, after he split with the Harkat-ul-Mujaheddin. In 2002 the government of Pervez Musharraf banned the group, which changed its name to Khaddam ul-Islam and continued doing what it had been doing before without missing a beat... and Jamaat ul-Mujahideen.
Investigations had revealed that all these funds were routed through a Delhi based Hawala operative. It was also found that Yasin Malik had received funding of 1 lakh US dollars and the money was being carried by a lady called Shazia. The NIA says that it is probing into all these angles.
We are looking at each case since the 1995 onwards and this will help us get a better picture of the entire racket, the officer further added. In March 2019, the Union Government banned the Malik led JKLF. The outfit banned for alleged promotion of secessionist activities in J&K.

Vorontsova, 37, was identified as the person behind a secret "Maria V" account, which has attacked critics of the Ukraine invasion on an alumni group on Telegram for her alma mater Moscow State University, the Times of London reported.
In screenshots obtained by the editor-in-chief of anti-Kremlin Russian news outlet Republic, Putin’s eldest daughter defended Moscow’s actions and claimed the West had "always done everything possible to ensure" that Russia failed.
"If suddenly, like almost happened in the 90s, Russia becomes a full-fledged raw-material appendage of the United States and EU, I’ll be interested to see whom you blame for the fact that we’re not living in a prosperous economy," Vorontsova reportedly wrote.
In the conversation about Ukraine, Vorontsova also mentioned how the US also starts wars and slammed comments about her father’s responsibility for the invasion.

They are going to happen from time to time. Can't be helped. We do the best we can, but ultimately we are all just volunteers for this project.
There is a live backup, however. I will post the link below. But there are a few rules.
Because of the differences in the underlying BAPP stack (FreeBSD, Apache, Postgresql, PHP) the backup server is read only. If you try to post a comment, it will fail.
You can access the backup between 30 minutes after and at the top of the hour. Otherwise, you'll lag out because of the nature of this particular server.
In time I hope to get the backup server where you can post comments, but alas they will erase at the next update. The server was happily working here. The router was just as content. Comcast, on the other hand, was busted. Sorry.
[BizPacReview] Just two days after new CNN ...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for... president Chris Licht announced the embattled news network will be moving away from cable news "extremism" and seek "a different way," longtime Senior Vice President and editor-in-chief of CNN Digital Worldwide Meredith Artley has announced she is leaving after 12 years.
Artley, who worked as a top executive under former CNN President Jeff Zucker, said she was frustrated by the corporate shakeups that have come in the wake of a mega-merger between Discovery and CNN’s parent company, Warner Media, sources told Axios.
Her exit follows that of CNN digital lead Andrew Morse, who left last month after CNN+, for which Morse led the charge, crumbled just weeks after it launched.
It’s the latest in a string of scandals and changes that led to Licht stepping in as head of the network in May.
Speaking at the Warner Bros. Discovery upfront presentation on Wednesday, Licht described the merger as an opportunity to chart a new course in cable news, American Wire News reported.
[FoxWeather] It's a clash of summer and winter across the Rockies as the Denver metro braces for several inches of heavy, wet snow from an impactful late-season winter storm on the heels of Thursday's dangerous fire weather fueled by temperatures in the upper 80s.
Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories have been issued by the National Weather Service across the central Rockies and the adjacent Front Range.
Denver and Boulder, Colorado, are among the cities included in the Winter Storm Warnings along the Interstate 25 urban corridor.
Light to moderate snow was already ongoing Friday morning in the mountains and foothills of the northern and central Rockies, while rain showers were spreading into portions of the Front Range urban corridor, including the Denver metro area.
As much colder air continues to rush into the region, the rain showers in the Front Range will begin mixing with snow by early Friday evening, eventually changing over to all snow later in the evening and continuing through Saturday morning. Snow will lighten in intensity and mix with rain Saturday afternoon before ending Saturday night.
Denver already experienced its sixth-largest one-hour temperature drop on record Thursday evening. Temperatures plummeted 25 degrees in 23 minutes, from 84 degrees at 7:30 p.m. Mountain time to 59 degrees by 7:53 p.m.
While late-May snow is rare in Denver, it is not unprecedented. The latest that measurable snow has ever been reported was on June 2 in 1951, but if at least 0.1 inches of snow is measured this Saturday, it would tie with five other years for the 10th-latest snowfall on record.
The heaviest snowstorm this late in the season was on May 25-26, 1950, when 10.7 inches piled up in the Mile High City.
According to the NWS, April 28 is the average date of the season's last snowfall in Denver.
As this snowstorm exits the region Saturday night, a hard freeze is expected with low temperatures dipping into the mid- to upper 20s by Sunday morning.
The snow won't stick around long, however. Denver will climb back into the 60s on Monday and into the 70s by Wednesday.

[OneIndia] Responding to reports of a second bridge being constructed across Pangong Tso in eastern Ladakh by China, the Central Government said it was creating infrastructure along the border areas to not only meet India's strategic and security requirements but also facilitate the economic development of these areas.
"We have seen reports of a bridge being constructed by China on Pangong Lake alongside its earlier bridge. Both these bridges are in areas that have continued to be under the illegal occupation of China since the 1960s. Not now, in the midst of the war, but perhaps immediately after it."

08:26 British intelligence reports that as soon as the Russians finally capture Mariupol, forces from there will be transferred to strengthen operations in the Donbass. Probably, about 1,700 Ukrainian fighters from Azovstal surrendered, intelligence reports. It is not known how many Ukrainian forces still remain at the plant.
Ukrainian resistance in Mariupol since the start of the war means that Russian forces in the area must be re-equipped and modernized before they can be effectively redeployed, and this can be a lengthy process.
Russian commanders, however, are forced to defiantly achieve operational goals. This means that Russia is likely to quickly redeploy its forces without proper training, fraught with further attrition, analysts say.
08:07 The American Institute for the Study of War reports that Russian troops are intensifying their attempts to move north and west of Popasnaya in preparation for an offensive against Severodonetsk. Here, groups up to a company are trying to capture villages near the Lisichansk-Bakhmut highway. Also, with reference to the "DPR", it is reported that the enemy surrounded Gorskoye and Zolote.
In Mariupol, the Russians and the "DPR" are trying to establish "consistent administrative control" over the city. Also, Russian forces were trying to regain control over the settlements they had lost during the Ukrainian counter-offensive north of Kharkov.
Russian forces are beefing up their naval presence around Zmeiny Island to reinforce their group on the island.

00:05 Zelensky: "The first trial in Ukraine against a Russian war criminal has already begun. And it will end with the full restoration of justice within the framework of an international tribunal. [NYPOST] Crooked Hillary Clinton ...former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, Conqueror of Benghazi, Heroine of Tuzla, formerly described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as The Thing That Wouldn't Go Away. Politix is not one of her talents, but it's something she keeps trying to do... personally authorized her campaign to share since-debunked computer data linking Donald Trump ...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons...... with a Russian bank, according to bombshell testimony from her 2016 campaign manager Friday.
Robby Mook, testifying as a witness in defense of former Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann, told jurors that he discussed the matter with the Democratic nominee sometime in the fall of 2016, shortly before the presidential election.
Mook described his end of the conversation with Clinton as him telling her, "Hey, we have this and we want to share it with a news hound."
"She agreed to that," he said.
Mook also acknowledged that the campaign hadn’t verified the accuracy of the data at the time.
"Part of the point of giving it to a news hound was they could run it down further," he said.
"A news hound could vet the information and then decide to print it."
The stunning disclosures came during cross-examination of Mook by a member of special counsel John Durham’s team in Washington, DC, federal court and prompted Judge Christopher Cooper to order the jury out of the courtroom so he could hold a sidebar discussion with both sides.
Sussmann, 57, is charged with lying to the FBI in September 2016 by denying that he was working on behalf of the campaign when he turned over data and three "white papers" that purportedly showed a secret back channel between a Trump Organization server and Russia’s Alfa-Bank.
After the sidebar, Cooper announced that he might allow prosecutor Andrew DeFilippis to introduce into evidence a tweet posted by Clinton on Oct. 31, 2016, shortly after the left-wing Slate website published a report about the Alfa-Bank data.
"Computer scientists have apparently uncovered a covert server linking the Trump Organization to a Russian-based bank," wrote Clinton, who attached a statement from Jake Sullivan — now President Biden’s national security adviser — who said, "This secret hotline may be the key to unlocking the mystery of Trump’s ties to Russia."
Last month, Cooper ruled that the tweet was inadmissible "hearsay" evidence and "likely duplicative of other evidence" that Durham would use against Sussmann.
But in the wake of Mook’s testimony, the judge said he’d reconsider that decision if the prosecution established a proper foundation to introduce the tweet.

Russia's on the March now. Breakthroughs in Luhansk, encircling Ukrainians at Severodonetsk, moving tens of thousands of troops north rom Mariupol.
Luhansk's Ukrainian-friendly governor reports that the province is now "90 percent controlled" by the Russians.
The NY Times (likely Tom Friedman, maybe Sanger too) is probably hearing from their Deep State and IC insiders that Biden and Austin need to climb down and start exploring serious peace talks with Russia.

Should have stayed out of it from the beginning. Find the back door and stay out of neighborhood bar brawls. We don't live around there. Stay out of it and go home.

Stalin killed more of his own than Hitler killed. He invaded Poland with Hitler, then annexed the Baltic States. He then without provocation invaded Finland. He sponsored the Comintern to destabilize western democracies. Yet when Hitler invaded the Soviet Union guess who became the 'good guy'.

Another Establishment voice, Charles Kupchan, now calls for de-escalation and a peace agreement. In The Atlantic, Kupchan writes:
"Kyiv’s right to fight for complete territorial sovereignty does not make doing so strategically wise. Nor should Ukraine’s remarkable success in repelling Russia’s initial advance be cause for overconfidence about the next phases of the conflict. Indeed, strategic pragmatism warrants a frank conversation between NATO and Ukraine about curbing Kyiv’s ambitions and settling for an outcome that falls short of 'victory.'"

Biden and Austin are deluded. They think they're destroying Russia. Wrong: They're actually destroying us.

Timing is everything! Now that the $40,000.000.000 is going to go to all sorts of places with all sorts of back-channels to the Swamp and grease to keep the Hunter Biden/Jojo corruption hermetically sealed, now its Bob's Your Uncle and give "peace a chance" in the NYT! Amazing coincidence, or it's just the payoffs are accomplished, graft withdrawal pains soothed, and let's find a C-17 baby-food photo-op to quiet the rubes and focus on Monkeypox and the mid-terms as a counting strategy.
Or is that too jaded a view of Imperial Washington?

Cut our losses. Biden's hyperinflation is costing every US household at least $7,000 a year. That's about $1.5 trillion stolen from Americans. If it requires $0.04 trillion in payoffs to the Biden Family, the Ukraine Grifters, the War Lobby and the rest of our Swampies to stop destroying the US economy, it's a bargain.
Pay the Danegeld to our nation's First Car ckhead, the Big Guy, Pelosi and McConnell, Manafort, Sally Painter, the MIC and the rest of the lot.
And get us the hell out of that other swamp as fast as possible.

Our Syrian adventure was a botchjob - for no benefit to America whatsoever.
Same for our Libyan intervention.
Same for our Afghan intervention.
Same for our Iraq intervention.
Same for our Somalian intervention - and Biden and Nuland are dragging us back into Somalia for a double dip.
How much longer will we tolerate this bullshit? We have nothing to gain by intervening and dragging out this stupid war.

He might: Finland and Sweden being denied NATO membership along with Ukraine, might be enough. If you sacrifice a chunk of eastern Ukraine that you haven't controlled the last 6-7 years, officially. If not, I suspect in the next 2-months or so we'll suddenly see Kyiv under bombardment. Not harmful, or a lot, but just enough. Lightly singe it to make a point.

Russia has achieved her primary objectives. The capture of Mariupol and destruction of the fascist battalions ensures that Russia will keep NATO from seizing Crimea and Sebastopol. Ukraine's economy is destroyed and it will cost the US trillions to build it ... Iraq cost the US $1.6 trillion and that was in pre-inflation dollars. Ukraine will cost more, perhaps twice as much. The US is stuck with this albatross, which is a win for Russia. It is in Russia's interest to consolidate her gains and settle now.
#28
And I partially agree with Jean Paul also. I don't like seeing 20-year old Russians and Ukrainians killing each other for geo-political reasons I don't understand. But what's the name of the guy who gave the order to invade Ukraine? Starts with a "P". For some reason our visitors never want to talk about him.

It is a great and persistent mistake of the Anglo-Saxon leaders to personalize international relations. Each American president swings from extreme to extreme, thinking he can stare into the "soul" of foreign leader 'X' and then announcing that he is either an angel or a demon.
Stalin the mass murderer became Uncle Joe. Putin was a noble Christian allied with the West against radical Islam; now he's another Hitler.
The Viet Cong were evil communists with whom no agreement was possible; then Nixon and Kissinger went to Paris and signed a Peace Treaty with them (and won the Nobel Peace Prize). They toasted the biggest butcher of modern history in Beijing and formed an alliance with him against Russia.
Reagan said the Soviets would always and everywhere lie cheat and steal; two years later he shook hands with the Soviet leader and cut the nuclear arsenal in half.
American foreign policy would be much more successful if America's current leaders would try to put aside emotion and think calmly, rationally and strategically as Nixon and Kissinger did.
#31
Jean-Paul, that's an excellent comment, although, respectfully, you might have dispensed with the Anglo-Saxon jibe. I understand that sooner or later Russia needs to be brought back into the fold. My narrow focus here is our visitors who speak as though neither Russia nor Putin personally have any responsiblity or agency with respect to the Ukraine war. That's just not true.

Russia will retain Crimea and the entire "land bridge" along the southern coastline. That gives them the ability to choke off any Ukrainian exports and destroy any chance of recovery should the US go back on the agreement's terms. Ukraine for its part will keep all the US tactical weaponry that will enable them to stave off potential Russian attacks coming down across Ukraine's northern border.
Ukraine can defend itself vs Russia.
Russia can defend itself from NATO.
Ukraine's fascists are in Russian-controlled prisons.
Russian troops evacuate all areas north and west of Severodonetsk.

So much bs and apologies in the rantburg today….
Why not actually accuse the filthy CIA for provoking The Russian Federation! That CIA bunch of bastard filth for the last 60 years is plotting behind the back of Americans any sort of criminal act
Against the American citizens and their perceived boogie man’s
Fk them all!

The hundreds of billions in Russian assets stolen by the US will be used to defray a small portion of the US $3 trillion expenditure to build Ukraine over the next 10 years. The rest will be paid for through a combination of increased debt and tax increases on middle class Americans.
Ukraine becomes America's next white elephant / military-industrial trillion dollar boondoggle.

It's childish to think that a great nation (or any nation) is motivated by anything except self-interest. America pursues its interests defined mainly in terms of power and so does every other nation. It's a hallmark of stupid globalism to assume otherwise.
#41
...ah, but the Globalist who are indeed in power in Washington loath Americans. Their actions are for their interests and not America [see no border on the South as a clear demonstration of that].
Impossible for me to know the man's mind but I'm not entirely certain that Putin ever wanted the war to start. Looks like it might have been a preemptive action to keep NATO's Tomahawk missiles with their nuclear warheads off his front doorstep where they could reach Moscow without any Russians ever seeing them coming.
Further, it seems a bit disingenuous for Biden to talk about standing up for democracy in Ukraine when 1) our State Department was almost certainly involved in the Maidan coup and 2) you'll never convince me that all those mail-in ballots in 2020 were legitimate. Democracy, huh? Sure, Joe. I bet he wants democracy in Russia too. Sure he does.
I think the better question is: Does Biden want the war to end?

It's in Putin's interests to trade $$$ for strategic territory.
The centerpiece of a lasting deal would be to allow the USA to keep the hundreds of billions it seized from Russia in exchange for allowing Russia to keep the southern coastline ("land bridge"), take receivership of the bankrupt Nikolaev Shipyard and give autonomy to the eastern provinces it seized.
Land for piece (of flesh), so to speak. Land for Uncle Vlad and a several tonnes of flesh for Uncle Shylock.
That's a fair exchange and far preferable, for everyone involved, to another 8 years of slaughter, destruction and poverty.

[NY Post] Napa too, where her other lair lies. It's a start for the Catholic Church (my own) to put catechism above politics
San Francisco’s Roman Catholic archbishop has banned House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) from receiving Holy Communion during Mass until she repents of her public pro-abortion stance.
"A Catholic legislator who supports procured abortion, after knowing the teaching of the Church, commits a manifestly grave sin which is a cause of most serious scandal to others," Ssalvatore Cordileone wrote in a public notification Friday. "Therefore, universal Church law provides that such persons ’are not to be admitted to Holy Communion.'"
"I am hereby notifying you that you are not to present yourself for Holy Communion and, should you do so, you are not to be admitted to Holy Communion, until such time as you publically repudiate your advocacy for the legitimacy of abortion and confess and receive absolution of this grave sin in the sacrament of Penance," the 65-year-old clergyman wrote.
Cordileone noted that while he and Pelosi had discussed the issue in the past, the archbishop has "not received such an accommodation to my many requests" to speak again following the September passage of a controversial Texas abortion law which bans abortions after a heart beat is detected — usually at six weeks.
At that time, Pelosi vowed to codify the Supreme Court’s landmark Roe v. Wade ruling into federal law.
In recent weeks, Pelosi has doubled down on that stance in light of a leaked Supreme Court draft opinion that indicated Roe will be overturned later this year.
The archbishop noted that he will "continue to offer up prayer and fasting" for the Speaker in the coming weeks.
Pelosi’s office did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
It is not the first time Catholic clergy have sought to prevent Catholic pro-abortion lawmakers from receiving sacramental wine and bread, which church doctrine holds becomes the literal blood and body of Jesus.
While on the campaign trial, a South Carolina priest denied Communion to then-Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden due to his pro-abortion views.
Not long after, Archbishop Charles Chaput, the former head of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, opined that Biden should be blocked altogether for "creating the impression that the moral laws of the Church are optional."
In May of 2021, Cordileone revealed the president would be prevented from receiving Holy Communion if he decides to visit the archdiocese.
In the same interview, the archbishop said of the possibility that he would have to deny Pelosi Communion during a service: "She knows that I stand by church teaching, and I know she’s respectful enough not to do anything so provocative. So I’m confident that would not happen
In June of last year, US Catholic bishops voted 168-55 to approve the drafting of a "teaching document" that many hoped would rebuke such politicians. The document was approved in November, though the final guidance stopped short of recommending barring politicians who support abortion from receiving the Eucharist.
During his October visit to Rome, Biden met with Pope Francis. However, the two reportedly did not talk about abortion.
Biden did receive communion while in Rome, but the pontiff did not administer it.

The Catholic Church has always moved at glacial speed. Yes, it's about time and Nancy shouldn't be the only pro-choice politician to be excommunicated. But, at least they finally moved.

They didn't drag their feet over a woman whose husband got a vasectomy. It took them so long to deal with Pelosi because she had power and access.
I suspect her real failing is to be on the way out of office.

Cause, you just know there aren't any lefty priests ready to make a communion house call for a political big.

The Bay Area dioceses are a mixed bag of Pro-Life and other priests and parishioners. Like Fulton Sheen all, Cordlione's leftist priests despise him. She can definitely get Doordash communion, but I don't think that is the issue for her. She has to be seen to be in power. There will definitely be calls to the Vatican. He may be removed.

There prayed an improbable Papa
On pilgrimage, "Nancy of Napa,
Your Library's swell,
But do tell, how the hell
Did you get in that bottle of grappa?"

Sounds more like Russian theater.
[REGNUM] The leader of the Nazi unit "Azov" (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation), who was hiding on the territory of the Azovstal plant, had to be taken out in a separate armored car, said on the evening of May 20 at a briefing the official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Major General Igor Konashenkov.
Such measures had to be resorted to to prevent extrajudicial reprisals against him by the residents of Mariupol.
“The so-called “commander” of the Nazis “Azov” (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) because of the hatred of the Mariupol residents and the desire of the townspeople to punish him for numerous atrocities, was taken out of the territory of the plant in a special armored car ,” said Konashenkov.
Recall that the ringleaders and other members of Azov (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) will be dealt with by investigators of the Russian Investigative Committee. They have long been prosecuted for war crimes.
[REGNUM] Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the complete cleansing of the territory of the Azovstal plant from Ukronazis, Major General Igor Konashenkov , official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, said at a briefing on the evening of May 20 .
He clarified that all the underground facilities of the plant, in which Ukrainian Nazis had been hiding since April 21, were taken under the full control of the Russian military.
"The territory of the metallurgical plant" Azovstal "in Mariupol, on which from April 21 this year. the group of Ukrainian militants of the Nazi formation "Azov" was blocked, completely released.
The underground facilities of the enterprise, in which the militants were hiding, came under the complete control of the Russian armed forces ,” said Konashenkov.
On Friday, dozens of residents of a village north of Idlib, northwest Syria, took to street against practices of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else ...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State... (HTS, formerly al-Nusra ...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli al-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ... Front).
Residents of the village of Deir Hassan called for reopening the battle front and restoring the areas that the Syrian government has recently regained control over.
Protesters denounced the arbitrary arrests by HTS, and they called for the release of detainees, eyewitnesses told North Press.
Since early 2022, protests have been staged in the aforementioned village, demanding the release of detainees held in prisons of the HTS.
The protesters raised banners denouncing the entry of aid convoy to Idlib through the Syrian government-areas, the eyewitness noted.
On May 16, a UN World Food Program (WFP) aid convoy, consisting of 14 trucks, entered Idlib from the government-controlled city of Saraqib.
The HTS was formed in 2017. It controls vast lands in Idlib and Aleppo countryside.

[HOTAIR] House Democrats in the midst of dealing with the "chaos" created by new congressional maps created by a special master in New York have more reason to be unhappy today. In Florida, Democrats held a noisy but ultimately pointless protest last month against the adoption of GOP-favorable maps drawn up by Gov. DeSantis’ office. It seemed Democrats had finally caught a break earlier this month when a judge who reviewed those maps declared the changes in the norther part of the state to be unconstitutional.
Circuit Judge Layne Smith said, "I am finding the enacted map is unconstitutional because it diminishes African Americans’ ability to elect candidates of their choice."
He ordered the state to adopt a map that maintains an east-to-west version of Jacksonville’s 5th Congressional District, stretching from Duval to Gadsden counties.
Specifically, the judge wanted to preserve the 5th district which is currently held by Rep. Al Lawson. But today that decision was reversed on appeal, meaning the state will now be returning to the maps approved by Gov. DeSantis.

[RIA Novosti] To respond to threats near the Russian western borders, 12 new military units and subunits will be created in the Western Military District by the end of 2022, Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu said on Friday at a meeting of the Russian Defense Ministry.
As Shoigu noted, the situation in the western strategic direction is characterized by an increase in military threats near the Russian borders. In particular, the intensity of US strategic aviation flights in Europe has increased 15 times, and American ships have entered the Baltic Sea on a systematic basis.
The State Duma announced the disruption of NATO plans for the Sea of Azov
“We are taking adequate countermeasures. Under these conditions, we are actively improving the combat composition of the troops. By the end of the year, 12 military units and subunits will be formed in the Western Military District,” Shoigu said.
He also noted that "the ongoing organizational measures are synchronized with the supply of modern weapons and military equipment to the troops." "This year it is planned to receive more than two thousand units of such samples," the minister said.
According to the head of the department, control checks following the results of the winter training period showed a qualitative increase in the level of training of the district's units by 25 percent compared to the previous year. The intensity of the combat training tasks performed by the ships of the Baltic Fleet increased by 42 percent. More than three hundred combat exercises were performed using various types of weapons. The air raid of the district has increased by four percent since the beginning of the year.

[GATEWAYPUNDIT] On October 28, 2020, at 4:35, a female driving a blue Toyota with a red air freshener hanging from her rear-view mirror drove up to an absentee ballot drop box at the Balduck satellite voting center in bankrupt, increasingly impoverished, reliably Democrat, Detroit ... ruled by Democrats since 1962. A city whose Golden Age included the Purple Gang... , MI. A female passenger emerges from her vehicle with a large stack of what appears to be absentee ballots. The female passenger struggles to deposit multiple ballots at one time into the drop box slot and can actually be seen tearing one of the envelopes as she attempts to jam too many ballots into the slot at once. The slots in the drop boxes are supposed to be designed to accept one ballot at a time. The female passenger eventually completes her deposit of the large stack of ballots, and they pull away.
On the same day, at 5:11, only 26 minutes later, she appears again at the same absentee Ballot Dropbox; this time, however, she is alone. She deposits a single ballot while holding a cellphone up, as she appears to be taking a photo of herself depositing the ballot.
Then again, only 21 minutes later, at 5:32 PM, the same woman appears at the drop box, but this time, she has a sizable stack of ballots that she deposits into the Balduck satellite voting center drop box.
She appears again at the Balduck drop box the next day with another stack of ballots, but this time, she is preceded by a red Toyota pick up truck with a driver and passenger in the front seat. The red pickup drives up to the ballot box but never gets out of the vehicle. Instead, the passenger, who is wearing a face mask, rolls down the window and holds two cell phones in her hand. One cell phone [camera?] is pointed at the satellite voting center and the other appears to be pointed at the drop box. The passenger pulls the phones back into the vehicle, inspects them and then repeats the process (perhaps the first images weren’t clear). As the red pickup truck drives away from the drop box, they pass the woman seen driving to the Balduck drop box three times the previous day. She exits her vehicle with a stack of ballots, deposits them into the absentee ballot drop box, and drives away.

I remember watching Fox News on election night 2020 when Karl Rove told some of the other hosts that there were a lot more ballots yet to be counted in Wayne County than in the northern Michigan counties that were all projected red. Michigan was hanging in the balance at the time with a lot more red counties than blue but the statewide tally of votes made Michigan still too close to call. Well, sure, Detroit is a population center. But the smug expression on Rove's face troubled me. I remember wondering at the time if he knew something that he wasn't telling.

For what it is worth I voted in person today in the Virginia 10th district Primary. It was packed. Two years ago I walked in and out in 5 minutes with no line. Today it took over an hour, the line was even longer when I left at 1130 AM. Note: no Democrat was in the Primary so this was to rank 11 candidates to run against the incumbent Democrat (Jennifer Wexton). Folks in line were not happy at what is happening in Loudoun County VA. It will be interesting to see the vote totals for today.

[NYPOST] Russia’s war in Ukraine may be a "rehearsal" for a possible large-scale conflict with NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions... countries, a leading Russian political scientist has warned.
Alexei Fenenko, a research fellow at the Institute of International Security Studies and associate professor at Moscow State University’s School of World Politics, appeared on the state TV talk show "60 Minutes" airing on the Russia-1 channel and raised the prospect of a broader clash with the West.
"For us, the war in Ukraine ... is a rehearsal for a possibly larger conflict in the future," he said. "And that is why we’ll test and go up against NATO weapons, and will see on the battlefield how much stronger our weapons really are compared to theirs."
"Maybe it will be a learning experience for a future conflict," he added.
Olga Skabeyeva, the host of the show, who is considered to be a chief Kremlin propagandist, then chimed in, observing that "it’s a terrifying experiment."

Talking out of both sides of their mouths… blaming ‘the west’ one day and then saying it’s a proxy for fighting the west the next. All while the Joe Bidens hand over our industries to Russia.
That Mercedes and that 5 star hotel ain't gonna pay for themselves, ya know. [StraitsTimes] A watchdog said on Thursday (May 19) that an independent UN expert took a large payment from Beijing, alleging that she helped China "whitewash" its treatment of the Uighur minority and demanding that she return the money.
Professor Alena Douhan, the United Nations special rapporteur focused on the negative impact of unilateral sanctions, received a US$200,000 (S$275,900) contribution from Beijing in 2021, said Geneva-based rights group UN Watch, pointing to a UN filing. Whores get paid
In a statement, the group called on her "to return US$200,000 that she received from the Chinese state while she helped the regime whitewash its ethnic cleansing of the Uighurs".
Prof Douhan, a law professor from Belarus, is an independent expert appointed by the UN Human Rights Council in March 2020. She does not speak on behalf of the UN.
Her mandate is controversial, with rights activists accusing the expert of playing into authoritarian regimes' propaganda by blaming their countries' woes on Western sanctions.
She has visited countries such as Venezuela and Zimbabwe, and concluded a trip to Iran this week, after which she decried the "devastating humanitarian impact of sanctions", insisting they were illegal and should be lifted. Read the rest at the link
[NYPOST] A 15-year-old who allegedly bumped off an innocent 11-year-old Bronx girl in a botched moped drive-by was caught Friday hiding out in a hotel with his mom, officials said.
Matthew Godwin was arrested for the broad daylight murder of Kyhara Tay, who was killed by a stray bullet Monday as the teen shooter was allegedly targeting a 13-year-old boy, who was not hit, police said Friday.
Officers took Godwin into custody at 2 a.m. Friday at Hotel 95 in the Harding Park area of the Bronx, where the family had checked in the night before, officials said at a news conference Friday.
"We will continue to fight for Kyhara. Also, the tragedy here is we are talking about a gunman who is too young to be a gunman," Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clarke told news hounds.
"It’s incomprehensible but no longer incredible for what has been going on in The Bronx," he went on. "Kyhara was, unfortunately, the second child in the Bronx killed by gunfire, being shot by a teen."
The teen was slapped with charges of murder, manslaughter, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, all as an adult. Cops said they were still looking for the moped’s driver, 18-year-old Omar Bojang.
Omar Bojang from this 2020 story?
"Bojang, who was uncooperative with the officers, was later charged with attempted murder and reckless endangerment . . . he allegedly opened fire on a group of people . . ."

As I said in a comment to another gun article here a week or two ago, I have several 1911s and enjoy shooting them. The 1911 platform would never be my choice for EDC. Give me pretty much any SIG (P227 i n .45 ACP, please) or even my Grand Power P45.
More rounds and not single action.

1911 is great, but it's just out of date. It was literally invented in 1911. Firearms technology has come a long way since then.
9mm is better not just because of the power, but because you can carry more of them for the same weight.
#4
Nothing like the muzzle view of a sewer-pipe .45 barrel to quiet an unwanted visitor. Old, cold, ruthless and uncompromising stopping power, and after carrying it for decades, a comforting fit.
#5
There has been a lot of research into terminal ballistics of 9mm rounds in the last two decades narrowing the "stopping power gap" with the trusty 1911. But really the only question is does the gun feel good in your hand and can you hit your targets while stressed.
