California Invites School Violence
[PJMedia] California Votes To End Mandatory Reporting On Students Who Threaten Schools

Two days after the Uvalde massacre at Robb Elementary School, the California state senate voted to end mandatory reporting of students who threaten to do what the Uvalde killer did.

Before the California law was passed, existing law stated that whenever a school official is "attacked, assaulted, or physically threatened by any pupil," staff was "required to promptly report the incident to specified law enforcement authorities." The new bill repealed this requirement.

A heads-up to police to maybe start keeping an eye on the social media postings of would-be killers strikes me as a no-brainer.

The language in the bill was endorsed by the ACLU. The organization said that "Once students make contact with law enforcement, they are less likely to graduate high school and more likely to wind up in jail or prison."
Master of the Obvious here.
The ACLU conveniently forgets that the reason kids usually "make contact" with law enforcement — how’s that for a euphemism? — is because they were doing something illegal.

We’ve come to expect this kind of thing from the ACLU. Sadly, we’ve come to expect it from Sacramento as well.

There’s so much self-inflicted wrong going on in the once-Golden State.

California’s water infrastructure was built in the 20th Century for a population half its current size. Instead of getting serious about new construction, the drought-prone state is tearing down existing infrastructure.

California has some of the nation’s most expensive gasoline — by choice — but is closing the nuclear plants needed to power electric vehicles.

WFP executive director: We have no choice but to take food from the hungry to feed the starving
[ScarcityNews] David Beasley, executive director of the United Nations’ (UN) World Food Program (WFP), recently said that the global food crisis has gotten so bad that the WFP has had no choice but to take food aid from countries with already limited resources to provide for those that are on the brink of famine.

Beasley made these remarks at a meeting with the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, following a two-day visit to Yemen, which is currently spiraling into a catastrophe that the WFP’s own resources are unable to deal with as funding dries up.

“We have no choice but to take food from the hungry to feed the starving and, unless we receive immediate funding, in a few weeks we risk not even being able to feed the starving,” said Beasley. “This will be hell on earth.”

Inside a Biden White House adrift
[NBCNews] Amid a rolling series of calamities and sinking approval ratings, the president’s feeling lately is that he just can’t catch a break — and that angst is rippling through his party.

Faced with a worsening political predicament, President Joe Biden is pressing aides for a more compelling message and a sharper strategy while bristling at how they’ve tried to stifle the plain-speaking persona that has long been one of his most potent assets.

Biden is rattled by his sinking approval ratings and is looking to regain voters’ confidence that he can provide the sure-handed leadership he promised during the campaign, people close to the president say.

Crises have piled up in ways that have at times made the Biden White House look flat-footed: record inflation, high gas prices, a rise in Covid case numbers — and now a Texas school massacre that is one more horrific reminder that he has been unable to get Congress to pass legislation to curb gun violence. Democratic leaders are at a loss about how he can revive his prospects by November, when midterm elections may cost his party control of Congress.

More Shoes Drop in the Paul Pelosi Arrest Story
[Red State]"Rules for thee, but not for me"
Looks like more shoes are now dropping in the Paul Pelosi DUI arrest in Napa County, California.

As we’ve already reported, Pelosi, 82, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), was arrested on Saturday night shortly before midnight, at 11:44 PM, when he had an accident with another car. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but Pelosi was then charged with two misdemeanors: driving under the influence and driving with a blood-alcohol level at or above 0.08.

For some reason that hasn’t been fully explained yet, it took law enforcement officers more than four hours to book him after he was arrested. He wasn’t booked until 4:13 a.m. Was he resisting a breathalyzer? Causing a problem? Were they debating whether or not to charge him? It’s not clear. And if he was still blowing more than 0.08 after that time, what was he like at the time of the crash? He was released about three hours after he was booked on $5000 bail.

But now there’s more information on the accident. Pelosi was allegedly driving drunk when he piloted a 2021 Porsche through a stop sign while crossing State Route 29 and drove right into the path of an oncoming car driven by Jesus Lopez, 48, at about 10:26 p.m. So based on the report, Pelosi allegedly caused the crash. Notice he wasn’t driving an electric vehicle, but a nice gas-guzzling new Porsche.

This happened about five miles south of the Pelosi vineyard in St. Helena. This is just one of their many estates. Nancy Pelosi claimed she wasn’t with her husband but was in Rhode Island because she was going to be delivering a commencement address at Brown University.

From The Hill:

A representative for Pelosi told CBS News that he had been at a dinner party in Oakville until about 10:15 p.m., and drove the "short distance" home by himself. They added he was "fully cooperative" with authorities and that processing took until 7:30 a.m. on Sunday.

"Fully cooperative?" I’d like to hear the police say that and explain the four hours between the arrest and booking.

One of the neighbors described the Pelosis in a way that seems right on target and screams "elitism."

One vineyard owner who lives nearby told DailyMail.com the couple often block the road with their convoy of blacked-out SUVs when they come to town, but that they didn’t seen anything this weekend.

Some suggested that Paul might have been attending the Bottle Rocks festival which Snoop Dogg was playing at this weekend.

’It probably tracks more with the younger Paul,’ the neighbor said, referring to the couple’s 53-year-old son, Paul Pelosi Jr.

’I wouldn’t be going to the kinds of fundraisers and parties they go to.

’I don’t like them very much or find them very interesting,’ the vineyard owner said.

According to the neighbors, the Pelosis also throw lavish parties for Silicon Valley executives. I’m sure there are no conflicts at all there.

Nancy Pelosi isn’t talking about her husband’s arrest. She has no problem going after anyone and everyone else, but his arrest, she’s calling a "private matter."

#5  its reported that Pelosi blew .09, over the limit at booking, which was at a curious 4:13 AM. The accident happened at 10:26, CHP was on-scene withing 10 minutes, the arrest occurred at 11:44 and the breathalyzer was at 4:13 am, six hours after the event. If you apply the general status of BAC decline form my post yesterday:
Drinkers who have stopped drinking burn off alcohol at the rate of .015% per hour as a general rule unless they have compounding health issues.
and you compute that rate backwards for six hours, you get an approximate BAC level of .19. How impaired is .19, consider that its borderline .20 in the chart below:
https://www.pinelandsrecovery.com/all-about-blood-alcohol-levels/
The Impact of Blood Alcohol Levels
As an individual’s blood alcohol level increases, so do their impairments. To know when your blood alcohol concentration may be too high, it helps to understand how levels of alcohol in blood can affect you.
 0.01 – 0.03% – This is the lowest measurable blood alcohol level. At this mild level of intoxication, you may feel slightly warmer and more relaxed.
 0.04 – 0.06% – Your behavior will become exaggerated (speaking louder, gesturing more), you may begin to lose control of small muscles (resulting in things like blurrier vision), and your judgment will be impaired.
 0.07 – 0.09% – Mild impairment of speech, vision, coordination and reaction times make it dangerous for you to drive. In the United States (aside from Utah), it is illegal to drive at or above .08% BAC; you will test as legally impaired at this blood alcohol level if you’re 21 or older.
 0.10 – 0.12% – Obvious physical impairment and loss of judgment. Speech may be slurred.
 0.13 – 0.15% – At this point, your blood alcohol level is quite high. You’ll be affected by blurred vision, loss of coordination and balance, and potentially dysphoria (anxiety or restlessness).
 0.16 – 0.19% – The term “sloppy drunk” applies. Dysphoria will become stronger, and nausea may occur. Walking becomes difficult, and you may fall and hurt yourself.
 0.20 – 0.29% – You’ll feel dazed, confused, and disoriented. Balance and muscle control have deteriorated, and you may need help walking. You may not notice if you injure yourself, as feelings of pain are numbed. Nausea and vomiting are likely, and an impaired gag reflex could cause you to choke on your own vomit. Blackouts occur at this blood alcohol level.

Now does the six hour delay seem curious as the case is considered by a judge about how impaired the driver was and how his future driving behavior might endanger the public?

#9  I think he tried to Doordash, but Hunter Biden showed up and he was obviously tweaking, so he decided to just give it a go. He probably would have slept it off if he had been driving one of their high end vehicles. Not sure why they don’t have a driver. Maybe Jeeves was with Nancy in Rhode Island.

Battle of the supercomputing titans: US's Frontier overtakes Japan's Fugaku to become fastest in the world – breaking the 'exascale barrier' for the first time
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]

Courtesy of M. Murcek:
First exaflop supercomputer is in the USA

[ZDNet] US-based Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL)'s Frontier system has been declared as the most powerful supercomputer and the "first true exascale machine" by the 59th edition of the Top500 global supercomputer list.
American made by American companies.
Based on the HPE Cray EX235a architecture and equipped with AMD EPYC 64C 2GHz processors, the system features more than 8,730,000 cores and surpassed the one exaflop barrier with a High-Performance Linpack (HPL) score of 1.102 exaflops. The supercomputer is currently being integrated and tested at the ORNL where it will be operated by the Department of Energy.

By taking the top spot, Frontier knocks Japan's Fugaku system, which has held the number one ranking for the last two consecutive years, to number two as it continues to hit a HPL benchmark score of 442 PFlops.

"Considering the fact that Fugaku's theoretical peak is above the one exaflop barrier, there's cause to also call this system an exascale machine as well. However, Frontier is the only system able to demonstrate this on the HPL benchmark test," according to the list.

Rounding out the top three is newcomer Finland's Lumi system -- another HPE Cray EX system and Europe's largest system -- that has a performance of 151.9 Pflops using just over 1,110,100 cores.

The Top500 also welcomed the addition of France's Adastra system -- the second most powerful machine in Europe and third HPE Cray EX system on the list -- to the 10th position, after it achieved an HPL benchmark score of 46.1 Pflops.

#7  #5 - ever try FoldingatHome?

When the PS3 came out someone discovered the power of those systems linked together could help when you're not using them. Also because of that, the PS3 was banned for certain countries which might be interested in such computer power. On September 16, 2007, due in large part to the participation of PlayStation 3 consoles, the Folding@home project officially attained a sustained performance level higher than one native petaFLOPS, becoming the first computing system of any kind to do so. Originally, players were recruited for folding proteins on their system in cancer research. Now its been expanded to cover additional systems and venues.

Perhaps the FBI could spare some assets that are bugging parents, trying to organize kidnappings and surveil Trump supporters and have them profile some sociopaths. If they are surveilling us illegally, at least they could do a better job of it. Please feel free to hassle anyone who tortures animals. Collect their DNA. Also the pedo’s and soon to be rapists. Stop the political stuff and protect us better. You don’t need new powers to do it, as you are already breaking the law facilitating corruption on the regular. Stop one of these school shootings before they happen.

Biden Pays Tribute to Ukrainian Troops On Memorial Day
[InformationLiberation] This Memorial Day, we must remember the valiant sacrifice of the Azov Battalion.

From The Daily Mail, "'Democracy is not perfect... but it's worth fighting for': Biden pays tribute to Beau, Ukraine and the U.S. troops who died in Afghanistan and Iraq after laying a wreath at Arlington Cemetery's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier":

President Joe Biden championed the ideals of democracy and took time to reflect on the loss of his son Beau Biden and the losses of families across the country who have lost loved ones in the military in a Memorial Day speech at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday.

Looking abroad the president also paid tribute to Ukraine's defenders fighting against a Russian invasion and the American service members who died during the United States' 20-year war in Afghanistan and in Iraq.

He made no mention, however, of the recent military deaths under his administration - including the 13 service members who were killed in Afghanistan during a suicide attack amid the military's withdrawal from the country.

'Ladies and gentlemen, today remember and we reaffirm freedom is worth the sacrifice,' Biden said after laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

'Democracy is not perfect. It's never been perfect. But it's worth fighting for - if necessary, worth dying for.'

Remarking on the seventh anniversary of his eldest child's death, the president continued: 'Memorial Day is always a day where pain and pride are mixed together. We all know it, sitting here. Jill and I know it. Today is the day my son died.'

Beau Biden, who had been a Major in the Delaware National Guard, died after a battle with brain cancer on May 30, 2015, while his father was vice president.

'He didn't die in the line of duty, he came home from Iraq with cancer. It was the horrific cancer what stolen us from him - and him from us. But still, it always feels to me on Memorial Day - I see him not as it was the last time I held his hand, but the day I pinned his bars on him as a second lieutenant,' the president said.

He went on say the '7,054 American military members' who 'gave their lives over 20 years of our Iraq and Afghan conflicts' and 'untold others who died of injury and illness connected to their service' should serve as a reminder that 'there is nothing low risk or low cost about war.'

He says this while cavalierly threatening to get us into World War III with Russia over Ukraine, his one true love.

During the speech he also commented on the war in Ukraine - which Vladimir Putin has now been waging for more than three months - stating that the Eastern European country's struggle is a reminder of the cost of freedom.

'In this moment, when a war of aggression is once more being waged by Russia to snuff out the freedom and democracy - the very culture and identity - of neighboring Ukraine, we see so clearly...that freedom has never been free,' Biden said.

'Democracy has always required champions. Today, in the perennial struggle for democracy and freedom, Ukraine and its people are on the front lines fighting to save their nation.

'But their fight is part of a larger fight that unites all people. it is a fight that so many of the Patriots whose eternal rest is here in these hallowed grounds were part of. A battle between democracy and autocracy - between liberty and repression, between appetites and ambition.'

In a veiled jab at Republican legislatures' clamp-down on personal freedoms like abortion and voting rights, Biden called out 'a few who forever seek to dominate the lives and liberties of many' in 'a battle for essential democratic principles - the rule of law, free and fair elections, freedom to speak and write and to assemble. Freedom to worship as one chooses, freedom of the press - principles that are essential for a free society.'

What we're seeing in Ukraine is the cost of occupation, just as we're seeing in America.

Right before giving this speech, Biden told reporters that "the Constitution, the Second Amendment was never absolute."

He's pushing to disarm the American people and designate his political opposition domestic terrorists -- all while shipping billions in weapons to the Azov Battalion and throwing the border wide open to millions of illegal aliens.

Joe Biden on Memorial Day: ‘The Constitution, the Second Amendment Was Never Absolute'
[Breitbart] President Joe Biden pushed for more gun control on Monday, even though it was Memorial Day, a national patriotic holiday.

"The Constitution, the Second Amendment was never absolute," Biden said to reporters.

The president spoke to reporters about gun control as he returned to Washington, DC, from Delaware for Memorial Day ceremonies.

Biden falsely claimed again that Americans were unable to purchase a cannon when the Second Amendment was passed, despite being repeatedly fact-checked as false by even the Washington Post and Politifact.

"You couldn’t buy a cannon when the Second Amendment was passed and you couldn’t go out and purchase a lot of weapons," he said.

Biden recalled a briefing he had when he was a senator on bullet calibers and the damage they caused to the human body.

"The 22 caliber bullet will lodge in the lungs and we can get it out," Biden said. "A 9 mm bullet blows the lung out of the body."

"The idea of a high caliber weapon, there is no rationale for it in terms of self-protection, hunting," he said.

Biden also referred to a quote from Thomas Jefferson who said "the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants," tying it in with his argument about the Second Amendment.

"There was a while there, where people were saying, you know, the tree of liberty is watered with the blood of patriots, and what we have to do is to be able take on the government when they are wrong," Biden said.

Biden argued in order for citizens to hold the government accountable with equal levels of force, Americans would have to own a fighter jet or a tank.

"To do that you need an F-15, you need an Abrams tank," he said, suggesting it was an outrageous idea.

Biden revealed he had not had any conversations with Republicans on the issue of gun control but said he wanted to act.

"I know that it makes no sense to be able to be able to purchase something that can fire up to 300 rounds," he said.
^ THIS shows he's an absolute ignorant moron

#15  Madison put forward the Bill of Rights amendments as a first order of business in the new Congress after he had promised people that he would make that effort during the ratification process. Many people were concerned that Federal Power could grow unchecked if personal and state rights were not codified within the Constitution. The argument that the 2nd Amendment does not reserve the individual right to bear arms doesn’t make any sense logically or historically. Canada is certainly proving why the 2nd Amendment was a good idea. I don’t think Canada’s Charter of Rights includes a similar provision.

#16  The lie about the Second Amendment is telling, the Second Amendment is a statement of absolute right. The unorganized militia, essentially the entire population of fighting age, was to have personal arms to provide for national defense and as a bulwark against any form of tyranny, whether foreign or domestic The deflection about hunting and "self-defense" as a primary basis for the 2A is pure BS. As a poster in CTH notes succinctly:
"Moondoggie
May 31, 2022 9:27 am
Joe LIES!

When the Constitution was ratified there were NO laws prohibiting the purchase of cannon. Most of the cannon used by local militias were privately owned. Also, many merchant ships had their own cannon…not only for self protection, but also so that merchant ships could be rapidly converted to “Naval Auxiliaries” by issuing “Letters of Marque”. “Privateers” existed up until the time of the Civil War…possibly longer.

You could own any weapon you wanted up until the National Firearms Act of 1934. There was a Remmington Model 1907 rifle…30.06 caliber, semi-automatic, 20 round detachable magazine, 180,000 sold…zero mass shooting..."

Make no mistake, this is the emerging predicate for the long term goal of disarming the public.

Kicked? Where? What's the name of the battle? The loss in Afghanistan was due to politics that 1) expanded its mission beyond the retribution for 9/11 and 2) didn't allow the military to 'win'.

The New Normal Is Failure
[Townhall] It's Kurt
Look around and all you see is failure.

A bunch of kids are being murdered by some semi-human, so what do you do? Draw your weapon and put him down or die trying? Or do you sit there, doing nothing?

The same government we’re supposed to give up our guns to because they have it all under control chose Option B. It chose failure.

Tell me more about how the real problem is that we have the capacity to defend ourselves.
When all you have is seconds, the cops are minutes an hour away
But the real problem, to our enemies, is not that murderers murder. The real problem, to our enemies, is the very fact that we can defend ourselves. The objective of our trash elite is not to have a country that runs well, where people are secure, and where rights are respected. The objective is to rule. And if a bunch of kids die for that, they’re fine with it. They can live with failure, but not accountability.

The clusterfark in Uvalde is just a symptom of a much bigger pathology. It is a symbol of the failure of every institution in our society. And the solution is never to revamp the institutions and eject the parasites heading them. It’s always — always — to take power from us and give it to the people who screwed up in the first place.

Show of hands — who was shocked to hear that this creep was on law enforcement’s radar before his killing spree?

I see a distinct lack of hands.

But the failure is not limited to being unable to stop murderers. It’s not even the only failure involving schools. The schools are churning out a generation of quasi-literates and have been turned into a Grindr for perverted weirdos to use for grooming their prey. We got a good view of the failure during another epic failure, the COVID response.

This is systemic.

Everything is failing.

Go try to get baby formula.

See if you can afford gas. Hell, roll up to a Mickey D’s drive-thru and try to roll away with lunch for four under $30.
nice try
The courts don’t work, the Congress doesn’t work, and our alleged president is a borderline clinical moron who is lying when he’s not merely stupid. This human sex toy got up at Annapolis and told the Naval Academy grads that he had been accepted there. It was a lie — of course, he’s senile so maybe he believed it — and the regime media skipped over it like they skip over everything else that offends the official narrative.

Failure, failure, failure.

What is one institution that works? Just one.

Our military? Oh please. Just last week the military demonstrated its real priorities when it released a list of proposed new names for various forts and bases that are currently labeled with insufficiently PC monikers. Now, here’s a meaningful list challenge for them: Provide a list of names of real wars these people have won since 1991.

Here it is: ___________________________.

We’re getting tired of nothing but disasters, debacles, and decline. And that’s when things get dangerous. What cannot go on will not go on, and we Americans are not going accept muddling through forever, lurching from crisis to crisis created by our garbage ruling class and that cannot be solved by our garbage ruling class. Jimmy Carter was like that — President Peanut tried to tell us to embrace the suck. We told him to suck on his malaise. We turned to Ronald Reagan, and Carter was in a funk for forty years until Grandpa Badfinger finally relieved him of the title of "Worst President of the Last Century."

We will turn to someone, because this is unsustainable. The question is "Who?" And that is not precisely a question of individuals. It might be Trump, it might be DeSantis, it might be someone else. The question is what kind of person. Will it be a positive American leader in the vein of a Ronald Reagan, or will it be an American Caesar?

I write about the authoritarian temptation in my upcoming nonfiction book We’ll Be Back: The Fall and Rise of America:

"His rise would come as the result of a backlash against the left, and it would be propelled by a sense that the institutions, left to their own devices, would frustrate the true intent of the Framers and the people. He would call himself the restorer of American democracy (which sounds better to American ears than "restorer of the Republic" even if not technically correct). He would observe the rituals and symbols of the old United States, yet his reign would be distinguished by the unbridled use of his power. He would ignore the norms and unofficial rules of American politics that have so far restrained the conservatives but, to their mind, not the left. Checks and balances? Nah, it’s an emergency. We’ll get back to having those later.

And later never comes. His supporters would see him as cutting through the obstacles to enact the necessary reforms to restore America to greatness. His opponents would call him an authoritarian. And they might have a point."

The danger of systemic institutional failure is not merely the damage from the fallout, though as we saw in Uvalde, it can be monstrously horrific. The danger is that the failure is so pervasive and the ruling caste behind it so committed to retaining its own power at the expense of anything else that people may confuse this perversion of our constitutional system with the real thing and simply give up on the Founder’s vision. They might embrace a strongman who is empowered sufficiently to break the hold of our garbage ruling class — at the price of our republic. The failure we are seeing is so complete, so comprehensive, that maybe Americans will come to think that this harsh cure is not worse than the disease. But, of course, it will be. Maybe not with the first dictator, or the second, but it will. Augustus was okay, unless you crossed him. But a Caligula is eventually going to come along.

These clowns risk failing their way into an even bigger nightmare. So we have to stop them, because they are too corrupt and stupid to stop themselves.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile is now 18 times 2015 deal limit, UN watchdog says
[IsraelTimes] Tehran has amassed more than 3,800 kilos of material, IAEA reports, after detecting radioactivity at potential undeclared nuclear sites

The UN nuclear watchdog said Monday that it estimated Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium had grown to more than 18 times the limit laid down in Tehran’s 2015 deal with world powers.

The ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency said in its latest report on Iran’s nuclear program that it "estimated that, as of May 15, 2022, Iran’s total enriched stockpile was 3,809.3 kilograms."

The limit in the 2015 deal was set at 300 kilograms (660 pounds) of a specific compound, the equivalent of 202.8 kilograms of uranium. The report also said that Iran
...Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979...
is continuing its enrichment of uranium to levels higher than the 3.67 percent limit in the deal.

The stockpile of uranium enriched up to 20% is now estimated to be 238.4 kilograms, up 56.3 kilograms since the last report in March, while the amount enriched to 60% stands at 43.1 kilograms, an increase of 9.9 kilograms.

Enrichment levels of around 90% are required for use in a nuclear weapon.

Earlier in May, the IAEA announced that it was "extremely concerned" by Iranian silence on potential undeclared nuclear sites.

"I am referring to the fact that we, in the last few months, were able to identify traces of enriched uranium in places that had never been declared by Iran as places where any activity was taking place," IAEA head Rafael Grossi told a European Parliament Committee.

"The situation does not look very good. Iran, for the time being, has not been forthcoming in the kind of information we need from them... We are extremely concerned about this," Grossi said.

Iran has always insisted that its nuclear program is peaceful. Israel views a nuclear-threshold Iran as an unacceptable threat, as Tehran is avowedly committed to the destruction of the Jewish state.

Both American and Israeli officials have assessed that Iran now needs only a few weeks to amass enough fissile material for a bomb, should it choose to make one, though it would need additional time to assemble the device’s other components.

"[Iran] stands just a few weeks away from accumulating fissile material that will be sufficient for a first bomb, holds 60 kilograms of enriched material at 60%, produces metallic uranium at the enrichment level of 20%, and prevents the IAEA from accessing its facilities," Defense Minister Benny Gantz said on May 17.

Officials in the current US administration, led by President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. You're a lyin' dog-faced pony soldier. Of course Corn Pop is a real person....
, blame the drop in Iran’s breakout time on former president Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
’s decision to withdraw from the nuclear agreement in 2018.

"Their breakout period is down from about a year, which is what we knew it was during the deal, to just a few weeks or less," White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki
...a valley girl who woke up one morning and found she was spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of State under Obama. A new American success story, under Biden she became spokeswoman for the whole administration, and she was even able to get her sister a job...
said at a presser in February.

The latest report comes as talks to revive the landmark 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers remain deadlocked after stalling in March.

India-Pakistan
Pakistani-American defends Israel visit amid criticism back home
[IsraelTimes] Delegation prompts fierce outcry in Islamabad, with one participant getting fired from his job; Herzog says trip shows possibility of growing ties between Israel and Moslem world

A Pak-American woman who came under fire in the Islamic nation for leading a delegation to Israel defended the trip Monday, saying she traveled to Jerusalem with a small group of Moslems and non-Moslems to promote interfaith harmony.

Anila Ali, a Pak-born US citizen living in Washington, DC, responded to growing criticism from Paks, some of whom questioned who was actually behind the visit. She said the goal of the visit was to seek truth and to reconcile Moslems and Jews.

"(The president) of Israel received us warmly, and the people of Israel opened up their hearts and homes to us and they knew that we were Moslems and they knew that we were Paks," she said, adding that Israelis knew that members of her delegation included Sikhs and Christians, and they were still welcomed.

Pakistain is among the countries that have no diplomatic relations with Israel because of the lingering issue of Paleostinian statehood, and Pakistain says no delegation from Pakistain visited Israel.

Ali said she led a 15-member delegation made of Pak expatriates to Israel earlier this month. She told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that neither Pakistain’s government nor the US was behind the trip.

The state-run Pakistain Television took to Twitter on Monday to say it fired news anchor Ahmed Qureshi, who visited Israel in a "personal capacity." Qureshi was part of the delegation that visited Israel with Ali, it said.

The visit was confirmed by Israeli President Isaac Herzog, who said he received the Pak expatriates. He spoke about the visit at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Thursday, saying it "showed me the great change" taking place in the aftermath of the Abraham Accords.

The Abraham Accords refers to a series of diplomatic pacts brokered by the Trump administration in 2020 that normalized relations between Israel and four Arab countries — the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco. Israel already had peace deals with Jordan and Egypt, with which it fought several wars.

"This was an amazing experience because we haven’t had a group of Pak leaders in Israel ever in such scope, and that all stemmed from the Abraham Accords, meaning Jew and Moslem can dwell together in the region," he said.

Ali told the AP that there was no truth to remarks by Pak opposition leader Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality disorders...
in a speech at a rally Sunday, in which he said a Pak delegation had gone to Israel. Khan also alleged, without providing evidence, that the current rulers in Pakistain "are going to recognize Israel."

"We have no intentions of speaking for the Pak government, whether to normalize relations with Israel or not," Ali said. "The matter is between the Israeli government and Pakistain."

For Israel, while the delegation was small and did not involve Pak officials, it marked somewhat of a milestone in its relations with Pakistain, coming after other Moslem states have changed course and agreed to normalize ties with Israel. That’s despite Israel’s continuing occupation of lands the Paleostinians want for a future state.

For decades, the Paleostinians counted on a wall of support from Arab and Moslem states for its cause, as a way to exert leverage on Israel so that it might make concessions to the Paleostinians in exchange for recognition by those Moslem allies.

But after the Abraham Accords, that wall of support crumbled, perhaps paving the way in the future for other countries to take the same step.

Israel and Pakistain have made overtures to each other in the past, most notably when the country’s foreign ministers met in Istanbul in 2005 following Israel’s withdrawal from the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip. Though the two countries have participated in joint military exercises sponsored by their shared ally, the United States, including one earlier this year. But there hasn’t been any major public push to bring the countries closer, even as Israel has tightened ties in recent years with India.

Herzog’s office did not release an official statement about the meeting, but rather retweeted one of the participants. The visit appeared to go under the radar in Israel, with few media covering it and those that did doing so belatedly.

The Grand Turk
Report: Israel directly warns 100 of its citizens to leave Turkey due to Iran threat
[IsraelTimes] Telephoned alerts come after National Security Council publishes dire travel advisory, as Israel braces for Tehran’s retaliation to liquidation of senior IRGC officer

Israeli security officials called and directly warned more than 100 Israeli citizens in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
that they are in Iran’s crosshairs, and asked them to return, according to a television report Monday.

Earlier in the day, Israel’s National Security Council issued a public travel warning for Turkey, saying there was a concrete threat to Israelis by "Iranian terrorist operatives" there and in nearby countries.

According to the unsourced report on Channel 12 news, the threat of Iran
...The nation is noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence...
attacking Israelis in Turkey is "concrete and immediate... Evidently, there is [an Iranian] infrastructure that has planned to act right now."

The Mossad has thwarted recent Iranian efforts to target senior Israeli figures and Israeli businesspeople around the world, the report said, and, after those failures, Iran is now widening its target to ordinary Israelis in Turkey. A Kan TV report also said Israel fears that Iran is about to target ordinary Israeli tourists there.

The alleged Iranian plot is apparently a response to the liquidation of a senior officer in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps last week, which Iran attributed to Israel.

"For several weeks now, and even more so since Iran blamed Israel for the death of the Revolutionary Guards officer last week, there has been growing concern in the defense establishment about Iranian attempts to harm Israeli targets around the world," a statement from the National Security Council said Monday.

Despite the highly irregular recent warnings, the travel advisory for Turkey has remained at its same level, three of four, a "moderate threat," with recommendations to avoid visiting the country for nonessential reasons. At level four, "high threat," Israelis are explicitly told not to visit the country and to leave if they are already there. Countries with this warning include Iraq, Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
, Afghanistan, and Iran.

According to the NSC, in recent weeks there have been "a number of attempts" by Iranian operatives to attack Israeli businessmen and consular staff, but they were thwarted.

Since the Iranians did not succeed with those efforts, they were widening the target to ordinary Israelis in Turkey, Channel 12 reported.

Israel’s irregular travel warnings against Turkey have apparently rankled Ankara, but Ottoman Turkish authorities hope that the public outing of Iran’s intentions along with increased efforts to thwart the attacks would allow the threat to pass more quickly.

Former national security adviser Giora Eiland told Channel 12 news earlier in the day that the repeated public warnings likely indicated that Israeli security services were aware of a specific Iranian plot, rather than acting out of more general assessments.

The National Security Council recommended that all Israelis who are in Turkey avoid contact with strangers; refrain from giving out personal details, particularly about military service; make sure they have the phone numbers of Israeli legations and emergency services; and not publicly display signs that they are Israeli.

"Israeli citizens must remain vigilant and adhere to the necessary precautions when traveling to one of these countries," it said.

Iranian authorities have yet to pin down any suspects in Col. Hassan Sayyad Khodaei’s killing, even though the incident took place in the heart of one of the most secure areas in Tehran — Mohahedin-e Eslam Street, home to other bigwigs in the IRGC and its elite Quds Force.

AU states to activate African Standby Force to strengthen war on terrorism
[Garowe] African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
member states have agreed to fully operationalize the African Standby Force (ASF) to strengthen the fight against terrorism in the continent and end Africa’s dependence on foreign forces to fight terrorism.

The agreement was announced by the AU’s director of conflict management Sarjoh Bah following an extraordinary summit of African Heads of State and Government in Malabo on Saturday.

"Member States condemned terrorism, agreed to fully operationalize the African Standby Force, share intelligence and jointly fight terrorism and transnational organized crime, improve natural resource governance, secure sustainable/predictable financing and support conflict victims," Bah said in a statement on Sunday.

During the summit, AU Commission chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat noted that terrorism had increased on the continent from 2011 with the Libyan crisis which resulted from the NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
-backed ouster of longtime Libyan leader Muammar Qadaffy
...The late megalomaniac dictator of Libya, admired everywhere for his garish costumes, funny hats, harem of cutie bodyguards, and incoherent ravings. As far as is known, he is the only person who's ever declared jihad on Switzerland...
According to Mahamat, the crisis "opened the way for the arrival of foreign mercenaries in the Sahel and an influx of terrorist organizations defeated in the Middle East."

Terrorism, he noted, had now spread to other parts of Africa, including Mozambique, Mali, the Gulf of Guinea in West Africa, Somalia, the Sahel, the Lake Chad Basin, and the eastern parts of the Democratic Republic of the Congo
...formerly the Congo Free State, Belgian Congo, Zaire, and who knows what else, not to be confused with the Brazzaville Congo aka Republic of Congo, which is much smaller and much more (for Africa) stable. DRC gave the world Patrice Lumumba and Joseph Mobutu, followed by years of tedious civil war. Its principle industry seems to be the production of corpses. With a population of about 74 million it has lots of raw material...
Mahamat blamed a lack of inter-African solidarity between countries fighting terrorism and a failure by African countries to honor their commitments as some of the major reasons behind the spread of terrorism on the continent.

He also noted there were double standards applied by the international community in tackling the challenges of terrorism in Africa compared to other parts of the world.

Some of the established joint forces to fight terrorism, include the AU Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) in Somalia, the Joint Multinational Force in the Lake Chad Basin, the G5 Sahel Joint Force, and the SADC mission in Mozambique (SAMIM).

According to the 2022 Global Terrorism Index (GTI), Sub-Saharan Africa accounted for 48 percent of global terrorism deaths with four of the ten countries with the largest increases in deaths from terrorism coming from the region (Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other...
, DR Congo, Mali, and Niger).

The report further noted that terrorism was becoming increasingly concentrated and contracting into countries already suffering from violent mostly peaceful conflict.

The Sahel region
... North Africa's answer to the Pak tribal areas...
, which contains such countries, had become home to the world’s fastest-growing and most-deadly terrorist groups especially with Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....

IDF: Troops opened fire at Palestinian rioters in southern West Bank, striking one
[IsraelTimes] Army says suspects were throwing stones, Molotov cocktails and burning tires as soldiers operated near village of Hursa; no word on condition of man hit by Israeli fire

The IDF said its troops fired at Paleostinians who were violent mostly peacefully rioting near the southern West Bank village of Hursa late Monday night.

The army said the suspects were throwing stones and Molotov cocktails in addition to burning tires near a military checkpost, as soldiers carried out a nighttime operation. The troops fired at the Paleostinians and hit one of them, according to the IDF.

There was no immediate word on the condition of the suspect, nor as to whether the soldiers had used live fire.

None of the Israeli soldiers were maimed in the incident near Hursa, which lies in Area A of the West Bank. Though the Oslo Accords intended such territory to be under full Paleostinian control, the Israeli army regularly carries out raids in such villages, which it says are aimed at countering terror.

The clash took place as tensions across the Green Line were again charged following Sunday’s controversial Jerusalem Day Flag March, which saw some 70,000 religious nationalists parade through the Old City by way of the Damascus Gate and the Moslem Quarter in celebration of the reunification of the capital. Hundreds of participants were filmed chanting "Death to Arabs," "Muhammad is dead," "May your village burn," and other racist slogans while harassing some of the Paleostinian onlookers. The march took place in the shadow of threats by Paleostinian terror groups, warning they would violent mostly peacefully respond if it went through.

More than 4,000 arrested in Amhara as Ethiopia cracks down on militia
[Garowe] Æthiopia has launched a sweeping crackdown against an influential armed militia in its Amhara region that has led to the arrest of more than 4,000 people, including journalists, activists, and a former general.

The militia group, known as the Fano, played a key role alongside the federal military in beating back November’s southward advance through the Amhara region by the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), which is fighting an 18-month-long civil war against the government and its allies.

Since then, the TPLF has retreated to its northern home region of Tigray, and the government has made attempts to disarm and demobilize the Fano militia, leading to a series of festivities with regional security forces.

What prompted the US decision to redeploy troops in Somalia?
[Garowe] It's now evident that the US will be dispatched at least 500 soldiers to Somalia in the coming days, just over a year after their unceremonious exit, which was occasioned by a strategy to reduce expenses incurred on troops abroad.

Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. We get to suffer the consequences. So does Afghanistan, aka Biden's Bungle...
's administration was keen to have the soldiers back to the country, following an outcry from senior government and opposition politicians in Somalia besides strong backing from the Senate and Pentagon, which had initially opposed withdrawal plans.

Brother and sister from Kabardino-Balkaria convicted of financing terrorism
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] A court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Asker Khamukov to 18 years in prison, and his sister was sentenced to 16.5 years in prison for assisting a terrorist organization.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported that Asker Khamukov was detained on October 7, 2019 in Baksan together with his sister Lianna, who gave birth the next day. Asker's wife was also detained, but she was released from the police on the same day. Brother and sister Khamukov are accused of organizing the financing of terrorist activities.

The case was initiated on September 24, 2019 by the Moscow Department of the TFR. According to investigators, part of the funds to the Khamukovs' accounts came from contractors suspected of involvement in terrorism. The defense insists that there are no grounds for criminal prosecution of the Khamukovs, since there is no evidence  that the One Body Foundation used this money for criminal needs.

The Southern District Military Court today issued a verdict in the case of financing a terrorist organization against Asker and Lianna Khamukov. According to the investigation and the court, in 2013 they joined the structural unit of the Caucasus Emirate*. In 2013, the brother and sister provided the militants with their housing for shelter, food, food, and kept prohibited items and substances at home . In 2015, the defendants organized an online fundraiser and donated 1,402,900 rubles
...at the current conversion rate that’s US$21,920, which doesn’t sound nearly as impressive...
for IS* militants, the press service of the court reported today.

The court sentenced Lianna Khamukova to 16 years and six months in a penal colony, Asker Khamukov to 18 years in a penal colony of strict regime, he must spend the first four years of this term in prison, the press service of the court said in a message on the Telegram channel.

The criminal case of the Khamukovs was received by the Southern District Military Court on March 11, 2021, 35 court sessions were held. The verdict was announced today, follows from the case card on the court's website.

There were no comments from the convicts or their official representatives regarding the court verdict.

Recall that earlier Khamukova’s defenders sought to mitigate the measure of restraint for her, noting that Khamukova is raising young children , for whom proper care is impossible under house arrest. Lawyers Magomed Abubakarov and Ramzan Uzuev urged them to write letters to the Prosecutor General's Office and the Investigative Committee with a request to  stop the criminal prosecution of the Khamukovs. The prosecution, not finding evidence of the guilt of the Khamukovs, can "materialize a secret witness out of nowhere," Ramzan Uzuyev explained to the "Caucasian Knot" at the time.

ZSU dismissed Nikolaevka in the Kherson region, in ranks of occupiers panic, - the General Staff of ZSU
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Censor] Ukrainian defenders liberated the village of Mykolaivka in the Kherson region.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the General Staff of the Armed Forces.

"During the successful offensive of the Defense Forces, the enemy suffered losses and withdrew from the village of Nikolaevka, Kherson region, which led to panic among servicemen of other units of the armed forces of the Russian Federation," the statement said.

From Russian military blogger Andrey Chervonets, who claims a strategic command center of the Ukrainian Southern Group was wiped out by a Russian missile strike:
Exactly
May 30, 10:19

It is reported that tonight the command post of the operational command "South" (n.p. Novy Bug) was struck . Mykolaiv - Kherson direction

Caution, very strange Ukrainian language. The author of the video describes his impressions very briefly and artistically.

They wrote about the hit at 12 at night Moscow time. The video, judging by the fact that it was dawn, was filmed at four in the morning. A crowd of onlookers gathered, began to shoot, before the start of the analysis of the rubble. We'll soon find out if anyone has actually been caught.

The command of the southern grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - people are too public for no one to notice their disappearance, in a few days everything will be clear.

financial support for the additional construction.

Notis Mitarachi, the migration affairs minister, said the steel wall would be extended from 40 to 120 kilometers (25 to 75 miles), with construction work due to start later this year.

"It is a government decision to extend the border wall further and we have requested European funding," Mitarachi said, speaking in an interview Sunday with a radio station near Athens. The minister posted the audio of the interview on social media Monday. He gave no details on the projected cost of the project.

Greece has accused neighbor and fellow-NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
ally Turkey of "instrumentalizing" migration as a means of exerting pressure on EU countries. That is an assertion rejected by Ankara, which says it has shouldered a disproportionately heavy burden, hosting some 4 million refugees, most of whom fled the civil war in neighboring Syria.

Last year, twelve countries including Greece requested EU funding for border walls which are currently financed by national budgets. The EU Commission does not currently pay for wall construction at its external borders, arguing that it would drain funds from other migration-related activities, including financing the EU border protection agency, Frontex.

China falls short on big Pacific deal but finds smaller wins
[AnNahar] China fell short Monday on a bold plan to have 10 Pacific nations endorse a sweeping new agreement covering everything from security to fisheries as some in the region expressed deep concerns.

But there have been plenty of smaller wins for China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi as he continues an island-hopping tour of the region. Wang was in Fiji to co-host a key meeting with the foreign ministers from the 10 island nations.

At an unusual news conference afterward, Wang and Fijian Prime Minister Frank Bananarama Bainimarama spoke for about 30 minutes and then abruptly left the stage as news hounds tried to shout out questions. That left many details of what transpired at the meeting undisclosed.

Chronicles of the Civil War in Georgia: fighting in Western Georgia
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Borislav Agadzhanov

[REGNUM] After the end of hostilities in Tbilisi, armed clashes moved to the provinces. In early January 1992, a fierce battle took place between the "Zviadists" and their opponents near the city of Mtskheta, which led to a large number of dead and wounded. On January 11, a large detachment, assembled from supporters of Zviad Gamsakhurdia, who fled from Tbilisi to Armenia, crossed the Armenian-Georgian border and entered the territory of Georgia, but was surrounded and then defeated. A significant part of the "Zviadists" was captured.

Iraq
Two Turkish soldiers were killed in northern Iraq

Two Turkish soldiers had been killed in military operations against Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in northern Iraq, Turkey's Defence Ministry said.

Within a week, Ankara had lost eight soldiers killed in the region.

On Saturday, an improvised explosive device (IED) killed one soldier.

Another soldier was wounded on Friday during the fighting and died in hospital.

Last April, Ankara launched an action called "Operation Claw Lock" to "prevent terror attacks" and ensure border security following an assessment that the PKK was planning a large-scale attack.

Turkey regularly launches air strikes into northern Iraq, a region where it has repeatedly sent commandos to support its offensives.

*Correction: He fought. He's dead.

Yes, but how many did he make casualties before he succumbed? In this war between two countries with shrinking populations, both winning and losing are Pyrrhic. Global monkeypox threat upgraded to 'moderate' by World Health Organization amid fears virus will jump to animals and never be eradicated
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • The UK Health Security Agency confirmed 71 new cases in today, bringing the UK total since May 6 to 179
How many of ‘em went to that recent Gay Pride festival in Spain, or have interacted with someone who has?
  • WHO said outbreak is 'moderate risk' because clusters have been reported in different places simultaneously

  • The outbreak, which was first detected in early May, has spread to 24 countries and struck 106 Britons

  • The UN health agency said risk from the virus 'could become high' if it spreads to more vulnerable groups

  • WHO said surge in infections suggests virus 'may have been circulating unrecognised' for weeks or longer

  • There are growing concerns that monkeypox will spill into wild animals and never be eradicated
I’m confused. Doesn’t monkey pox come from an animal reservoir, which has never been eradicated?

Kraken militants carry out punitive raids in Kharkiv region
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[RIA Novosti] In the Kharkiv region, punitive raids are being carried out against the SBU suspected of pro-Russian sentiments, said Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev, head of the National Defense Control Center of Russia.

"In the Kharkiv region, militants of the Kraken nationalist unit, formed mainly of radicals and rapists and murderers released from prisons, carry out punitive raids, during which the so-called death squads break into the houses of local residents at night, suspected by the SBU of pro-Russian sentiments, expose them to physical violence and taken away in an unknown direction," the general said.

He stressed that dozens of city residents did not return home after such actions, there is no information about their fate.
The head of the NCUO also pointed out that such criminal actions by the Ukrainian authorities demonstrate the inhuman attitude of the regime in Kiev towards its own citizens and complete disregard for international norms of humanitarian law.

Pushilin sees no reason to delay the trial of the Ukrainian Nazis
In addition, Mizintsev added that the West is not interested in conducting an impartial investigation and searching for those responsible for the current catastrophic humanitarian situation in Ukraine , the United States and Europe actually "turn a blind eye" to Kiev's numerous violations of international conventions, unsubstantiated shifting the blame to Russia.

Florida teen charged after allegedly posting image involving guns, asking directions to ‘nearest school'
[FoxNews] A Florida teen was arrested on a felony charge after allegedly posting pictures of himself online with what appeared to be a rifle, handgun and tactical vest, and a threatening message.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office announced Monday that their detectives received a tip about the images, which they said included the caption, "Hey Siri, directions to the nearest school." Detectives investigated and learned the weapons were not true firearms but airsoft guns, the sheriff's office said.

"This type of threat is unacceptable. This man intentionally instilled fear into our community as a sick joke, but be warned, this is no laughing matter," Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. "We will do everything within our power to apprehend, and pursue charges on those who make school-based threats. Protecting students is our greatest priority. We take school threats very seriously, if you see something suspicious, please contact us immediately."

That day, officers located and arrested Corey Anderson of Lutz, Florida, located outside Tampa. Anderson now faces a charge of written or electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism, a second-degree felony that carries a punishment of up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

Anderson was placed into custody upon his arrest on Sunday. Records show he was released Monday on a $7,500 bond.

Is a diplomatic settlement possible in Ukraine?
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Written by a Russian militiaman, resident of Rostov, Russia, who served with the separatists in Donetsk 2014-2015. Call sign "Shakespeare." From his Facebook page:

By Pavel Kukhmirov

[Sevastopol] Despite the fact that the negotiation process (for better or for worse) has finally come to naught, the forces counting on a diplomatic settlement remain in our society, including at the intra-elite level.

How good such an outcome would be in principle - I will not argue. But how is it even possible? Under what circumstances is it possible to update the process, as a variant of the development of events?

There can be two prerequisites for this (the possibility is actualized both in the presence of one, and both at once).

First: a large-scale military defeat of one of the parties. Russia or Ukraine - it's not so important here.

Second: a massive political change in the US. At the elite level.

The current situation in the theater of operations can be described as a positional war. Russia and Ukraine collect reserves and throw them into battle, carry out attacking and counterattacking actions, suffer losses in manpower and equipment.

The fact that Ukraine's losses are many times greater does not matter in this case. This is a positional war without much change in the picture. Russia and Ukraine still have a lot of resources to continue in the same spirit.

The situation is in equilibrium, in which both sides do not seek a settlement. But if the picture changes, this will change too.

For example, if there is a big victory for Russia in the Donbass arc, such as the capture of the Kramatorsk-Slavic agglomeration or Nikolaev/Zaporozhye/Kharkov, or, conversely, a serious counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the capture of, for example, Kherson (which is also possible, we like it or no) - in this case, opportunities for diplomacy may open up.

The collapse of the Ukrainian Donbass front will enable the allied forces of Russia and the People's Republics to significantly and, most importantly, rapidly advance in the southern regions of Ukraine and create a threat to Nikolaev and Odessa.

In turn, the capture of Kherson by the Kyiv regime will raise the fundamental question of a land corridor to Crimea, and of Crimea itself.

In both situations, external players will again begin to actively intervene, and at the same time, internal opposition groups will become more active both in Kyiv and in Moscow.

The changing domestic political landscape in the US is also a powerful factor that could potentially change the level of support for the Kyiv regime from Washington.

And we can not say that such an option is unbelievable.

In November, the United States will hold elections to both houses of Congress. At the moment, the Democrats have control over both chambers, but rather shaky. The Senate is 50 to 48 in favor of the Republicans, plus 2 for independent Democrats, but Vice President Kamala Harris has a decisive vote in a tie vote, and thus the Democrats still control the upper house.

The House of Representatives has a direct majority of Democrats. But the fall in the ratings of Biden and the Democratic Party as a whole is already clearly leading to a loss of control over Congress in both chambers.

Powerful problems in the US economy (first of all, rising fuel prices) have given the Ukrainian issue special significance - now this is almost the only area where Biden can demonstrate the power of the United States, tritely trying to distract voters from internal problems.

But the loss of Congress could drastically reduce NATO's pressure on the Ukrainian direction.

Theoretically, this could loosen the American leash and allow European countries to try to find a diplomatic solution.

The Republicans will definitely begin to curtail support for the Armed Forces at the expense of the US budget, publicly burying Biden's policies with a clear eye on the US presidency in 2024. And even impeachment - this can also be.

Although, in principle, Biden can also give the go-ahead to look for a diplomatic solution, if the Russian armed forces make a decisive turn in the hostilities and begin a rapid advance.

After all, they also always loved to play the role of "peacekeepers".

Actually, this is the schedule. I note that there is nothing wrong with the diplomatic settlement itself. The only question is the conditions. And they will simply depend on how things turn out at the front. And no matter how the negotiations go (if they resume again), this will still remain primary.

#1  First: a large-scale military defeat of one of the parties. Russia or Ukraine -

This condition is already been met: the major defeat was at Mariupol, several weeks ago. That turned the tide. Russia will certainly win the war.

Second: a massive political change in the US. At the elite level.

I disagree. The change need NOT be "massive." The central change has already happened within the Intelligence Community, as it is called -- they were the ones behind the New York Times editorial and they were the ones who pushed Kissinger to put forth his peace arguments at Davos.

Arguably, the Intelligence Community (or so-called 'Deep State') can drive policy toward a negotiated solution. In any case Biden is a walking corpse. He is irrelevant.

Here's what Milley said on Fox yesterday:

"A negotiated outcome is a logical choice, but both sides have to come to that conclusion on their own. ... There's always a possibility of escalation. And we have to closely manage the escalation... and prevent this thing from expanding into something much more horrific than it already is."

Five rockets land near Ain Al-Asad Base in Al-Anbar

On Monday, five rockets landed near the Ain al-Assad military base in Al-Anbar Governorate, western Iraq.

A security source told Shafaq News Agency that the rockets were launched from the western side of the Base.

He did not provide further details.

Earlier this year, five rockets landed inside the Base.

Ain Al-Asad is located in Al-Anbar Governorate of western Iraq, approximately 180km west of Baghdad.

The Base hosts Iraqi Armed Forces and Global Coalition forces.

It was the second-largest US military airbase in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

It is worth noting that the foreign military facilities were subjected to repeated targeting in the country.

No one claimed responsibility for the attacks, but Washington accuses armed Iraqi factions linked to Iran of being behind the attacks, especially following the killing of the Iranian Quds Force commander, Qassem Soleimani, and the deputy head Al-Hashd Al-Shaabi, Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, in an American airstrike near Baghdad International Airport.
Al Arabiya adds:
Two Iraqi security officials said the Grad missiles struck inside the Ain al-Asad base in Iraq's western Anbar province and caused minor damages but no casualties.
The Times of Israel adds:
A previously unknown group hostile to the United States’ military presence in Iraq, “International Resistance,” claimed responsibility for the attack on a pro-Iran Telegram channel.

On the one hand, it was expected that after the capture and cleansing of the Krasny Liman, the RF Armed Forces would quickly clear everything on the northern bank of the Seversky Donets (Brusovka would also be taken today or tomorrow).

Further it will be more difficult - there it is necessary to force the Seversky Donets. The bridge across it has been blown up.

So far, the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Raygorodok are being covered by artillery. The battles themselves are taking place on the northern bank and the RF Armed Forces have not yet crossed the river here, so there will undoubtedly be tactical difficulties here and the enemy clearly expects to resist relying on the occupied heights and the river.

14:00 At the Donetsk gymnasium, which was fired upon by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, this morning they were supposed to distribute water.

An accident saved the tragedy: if everything had not been canceled, dozens of people would have gathered there at the time of arrival. She told about it @ruptlynews director of gymnasium No. 5. Iraq court sentences ISIS plotter of 2021 Baghdad market bombing to death

An Iraqi court on Monday sentenced to death an ISIS group member convicted of plotting a 2021 bomb attack that killed 32 people in a crowded Baghdad market.

It was the city’s first major suicide bombing in three years that ended a period of relative calm after Iraq declared the defeat of the extremist group in late 2017.

The man, who was not named, was found guilty of planning the January 2021 twin suicide bombing that hit the market at Baghdad’s Tayaran Square and also wounded 110 people.

A Baghdad court has sentenced the attack’s “primary perpetrator,” the Supreme Judicial Council said in a statement.

He had confessed to being part of ISIS since 2012 and to having equipped the two suicide attackers.

In the attack, one man drew a crowd by claiming to feel sick before he detonated his explosives belt, the interior ministry said at the time.

As more people flocked to the scene to help the victims, the second suicide bomber set off his explosives.

Iraq frequently hands down death sentences, usually for terrorism or murder convictions.

Amnesty International’s 2021 death penalty report ranks Iraq near the top worldwide in terms of death sentences and executions.

The London-based rights group recorded at least 17 executions in Iraq in 2021, down from 50 the previous year, but said death sentences “rose more than threefold from 2020.”

In April, eight people were sentenced to death in two trials, four over a car bombing and four for murder.

The last major ISIS attack in the capital came in July 2021, when a bomb ripped through the crowded al-Woheilat Market in the Sadr City suburb, killing more than 30 people.

The ISIS group has “maintained the ability to launch attacks at a steady rate in Iraq, including hit-and-run operations, ambushes and roadside bombs,” a UN report said in January.

Three teenagers and three policemen were shot dead in northern Iraq as they put out a crop fire last week, an attack that officials blamed on ISIS extremists.

The New York Times' Shift on Victory in Ukraine
[Consortium News] As the war becomes less popular and it takes its toll, an electoral disaster looms ahead in 2022 and 2024 for Biden and the Democratic Party, for which the Times serves as a mouthpiece, writes John Walsh.

On May 11 The New York Times ran an article documenting that all was not going well for the U.S. in Ukraine, and a companion opinion piece hinting that a shift in direction might be in order.

Then on May 19, the editorial board, the full Magisterium of the Times, moved from hints to a clarion call for a change in direction, declaring that "total victory" over Russia is not possible and that Ukraine will have to negotiate a peace in a way that reflects a "realistic assessment" and the "limits" of U.S. commitment.

The Times serves as one the main shapers of public opinion for the elite and so its pronouncements are not to be taken lightly.

US LIMITS
The editorial contains the following key passages:

"In March, this board argued that the message from the United States and its allies to Ukrainians and Russians alike must be: No matter how long it takes, Ukraine will be free. ..."

"That goal cannot shift, but in the end, it is still not in America’s best interest to plunge into an all-out war with Russia, even if a negotiated peace may require Ukraine to make some hard decisions."

And, to ensure that there is no ambiguity, it went on:

"A decisive military victory for Ukraine over Russia, in which Ukraine regains all the territory Russia has seized since 2014, is not a realistic goal. ... Russia remains too strong..."

The, to make certain that President Joe Biden and the Ukrainians understand what they should do, it adds:

"... Mr. Biden should also make clear to President Volodymyr Zelensky and his people that there is a limit to how far the United States and NATO will go to confront Russia, and limits to the arms, money and political support they can muster. It is imperative that the Ukrainian government’s decisions be based on a realistic assessment of its means and how much more destruction Ukraine can sustain."

As Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky read those words, he must surely have begun to sweat. The voice of his masters was telling him that he and Ukraine will have to make some sacrifices for the U.S. to save face. As he contemplates his options, his thoughts must surely run back to February 2014, and the U.S.-backed Maidan coup that culminated in the hasty exit of President Viktor Yanukovych from his office, his country and almost from this earth.

Alexander Mercouris of The Duran explains the shift in Western media reporting:....

#1  Not just the New York Times. Virtually every single American and British media outlet has shifted from embarrassing jingoism to cold hard pragmatism -- recognizing that Russia is winning and trading territory for peace will be essential -- during the last 2-3 days.

#4  "...the United States has helped turn this tragic, local and ambiguous conflict into a potential world conflagration. By misunderstanding the war’s logic, [French presidential advisor Henri] Guaino argues, the West, led by the Biden administration, is giving the conflict a momentum that may be impossible to stop. ...

"One can argue about Russian claims to Crimea, but Russians take them seriously. Hundreds of thousands of Russian and Soviet fighters died defending the Crimean city of Sevastopol from European forces during two sieges — one during the Crimean War and one during World War II. In recent years, Russian control of Crimea has seemed to provide a stable regional arrangement: Russia’s European neighbors, at least, have let sleeping dogs lie.

But the United States never accepted the arrangement. On Nov. 10, 2021, the United States and Ukraine signed a “charter on strategic partnership” that called for Ukraine to join NATO, condemned “ongoing Russian aggression” and affirmed an “unwavering commitment” to the reintegration of Crimea into Ukraine.

That charter “convinced Russia that it must attack or be attacked,” Mr. Guaino wrote. “It is the ineluctable process of 1914 in all its terrifying purity.”

#7  ^ Thanks to this bill, the American people are on the hook to fund all the operations of the entireUkrainian government. A notoriously corrupt regime that never had any oversight or scrutiny to begin with.

Administered by Biden and his Freakshow -- that would be the same Joe Biden who boasted about forcing the Ukrainian regime to fire their prosecutor who was looking into his son's illicit dealings with a criminal enterprise.

This isn't Clinton Global Initiative, this is the Mother of All Boondoggles. Iraq and Afghanistan combined, on an accelerated timeline so that Hunter, Jimmy and The Big Guy can grab their loot while they're all still alive and in power.

#9  The bill "also provides for $6 billion in Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative funding, which can be used to buy weapons directly from contractors and then provide those weapons to Ukraine.

"On the surface, this would appear to be simply about weapons. However, buriedin this funding is up to a billion dollars earmarked to pay the salaries and pensions of Ukrainian government workers and soldiers.

#12  Don't worry. Plenty of graft to come. Did you like "Build Back Better"? Wasn't Iraq Reconstruction a blast?

How about $1 TRILLION for "Build a Greener Denser Carbon-Neutral Ukraine"?

"We can also look at other measures and similar efforts that were done in the past. For example, what was the cost of reconstructing Iraq or Afghanistan? If you look at the size of these countries, the level of damage, and scale it to the Ukrainian case, you come to somewhere between $500 billion, maybe $1 trillion."

How should Ukraine rebuild?

Although Russia's invasion has caused massive damage, some experts also see reconstruction as a once-in-a-generation chance to modernize Ukraine.

Gorodnichenko believes the country's newly rebuilt cities should be carbon-neutral and dense, with much needed upgrades to housing and public transport.

Are we having fun yet??

#14  ^ No offense but that's a really mindless comment. They are indeed "worried about trillions." In fact Biden is meeting with Jay Powell to pressure him to REDUCE a trillion or more in money supply now.

Rand Paul nailed it: it's utterly insane to be slamming the brakes on credit and money supply via the Fed's shock therapy interest rate hikes while they're contemplating the exact opposite, in the form of sending a trillion dollars overseas for yet another idiotic intervention + kleptopalooza

Which kind of beg the question, what did parents feed the babies before baby milk formula was invented other than breast milk and wet nurses?

#7  Re: #2 and #3, thanks Skidmark, yhat was informative!

I notced the following statement from the second article above:

"It is important to note that baby formula is highly toxic and does not in any way resemble actual human breast milk. Most of it is loaded with health-destroying ingredients like corn syrup solids, high-fructose corn syrup, and various soy derivatives."

so it is looking like goat milk maynot be so bad after all.

Based on the first article, it seems that Almond Milk and and maybe boiled Cream Of Wheat, over cooked grit ( add a cup or so more water than normal) or watery rice porridge would be a good substitute for breast mil

#8  Remember the state WIC (women, infants, children) programs subsidize formula, et al. Welfare chits issued for formula are black-marketed(can I say that?) for cash or traded for drugs. So the subsidized manufacturing demand drops.

North America's largest dairy goat farm is 10 miles to my east. Polar Hills Dairy Goat Farm.

Incredibly rich and almost no one is allergic to it. Even people who can't eat regular cheeses because of migraines can eat goat cheese.

In fairness I helped out there for 2 1/2 years.

The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness

#1  Liberal regressive political madness is very real. Mask mandate and containment has created an army of malfunctioning individuals who look, act, speak and think alike as if controlled by an unseen force. The man or woman behind the curtain.

The extracts I read seem pretty much dead on for the style and direction of the LSD controlled government currently holding power.

In short the Flower Power Generation associated with Liberalism has been adulterated and power hungry. It has already adopted many of the totalitarian political processes needed to control a societies knowledge, speech and rights.

#3  In future history, if its honest, the impact of the Magic Kenyan and the massive salting of government/academia/media during his 8 years will be seen as a turning point in the arc of American political behavior. Woke-Think is the visible product of it, but especially the deeper animus concepts of America as hyper-racist, "toxic" masculinity, transgender/psychosis, climate insanity against fossil fuels with magic thinking of the "green" replacement disregarding nuclear, fiscal profligacy, massive corruption, selective criminal enforcement, regulatory Imperialism and globalism as the virtuous end-state for mankind.

Four residents of Ingushetia convicted of preparing a terrorist attack at the World Cup 2018
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] The court sentenced four residents of Ingushetia to lengthy prison terms, finding them guilty of plotting a terrorist attack during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, justifying terrorism, illegal possession of weapons, and membership in the Islamic State**. The convicts themselves stated that they confessed under torture.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 9, 2018, a resident of Ingushetia announced the kidnapping of his cousin, 29-year-old resident of Nazran, Ibragim Aliyev. According to the relative, on the morning of June 8, 2018, security forces searched the man’s house, beat him and took him away in an unknown direction. The relative is sure that a grenade and a homemade bomb were planted on Aliyev. Five days later, the security forces told Aliyev's family that he had been killed while trying to attack the investigator and escape. Ibrahim's brother Bashir Aliyev was also detained.

On July 7, 2018, the security forces handed over the body of a resident of Ingushetia, Ibragim Aliyev, who was killed after being detained, to his relatives after they refused the help of human rights activists in verifying the official version of his death.

The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced four residents of Ingushetia to various terms of imprisonment - from 18 to 21 years - on charges of preparing a terrorist attack during the 2018 World Cup, Kavkaz. Realii reported today. *.

According to the case file on the website of the Southern District Military Court, Bashir Aliyev, Aslan Bekov, Muslim Galaev and Ruslan Tsitskiev were sentenced today.

Bashir Aliyev and Ruslan Tsitskiyev each received 20 years of strict regime, Aslan Bekov - 21 years, Muslim Galaev - 18 years, Fortanga reported in her Telegram channel. They were convicted of attempting a terrorist attack, justifying terrorism, illegal possession of weapons and membership in the "Islamic state" **, the publication specified.

Two more people appear in the case - Islam Kartoev and Zalimkhan Bogatyrev, Fortanga informed. In February 2020, both Islam Kartoev and Zalimkhan Bogatyrev were sentenced to 14 years in a strict regime.

Four residents of Ingushetia, convicted today in court, said earlier that they confessed under torture. In court, Bashir Aliyev stated that the grenades found on him were originally planted on his brother Ibrahim Aliyev, "but after he was killed, [the grenades] were handed over to me. We decided that the dead would no longer be needed, and they certainly wouldn't interfere with the living." Also at the beginning of the trial, all the defendants retracted their confessions. They stated that the security forces beat them to get a confession, Kavkaz. Realii informed.*

The operation against the alleged members of the Islamic State cell**, who, according to the security forces, planned to stage a terrorist attack near the building of the government of Ingushetia during the World Cup and attack law enforcement officials, took place in June 2018 in Nazran.

As a result, three people from the Ayupov family - brothers Umar and Mokhmad and their mother Madina - were killed and their house was destroyed. On the same day, Ibrahim Aliyev was detained in this case. During a search, they found a grenade and components for making an explosive device, which, according to the Aliyev family, were planted. A few days later, relatives were informed that Ibrahim Aliyev had been killed while trying to escape, the publication informed.

Recall that this special operation in Nazran caused indignation among the inhabitants of Ingushetia. Those killed during a special operation in Ingushetia are members of the family of a retired police colonel, none of them had anything to do with the militants and did not shoot at the security forces, local residents said. The security forces claimed that the dead swore allegiance to IS**. The militants killed in Ingushetia were preparing terrorist attacks on the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, then head of the republic, said.

23:11 The European Union cannot afford not to reach an agreement on the sixth package of sanctions against Russia, including the oil embargo, said the head of the European Parliament, Roberta Metzola: "I really hope that the agreement will be. We cannot afford not to have it. Although I I understand the realities faced by different countries, there is a limit of flexibility that we cannot cross without losing the confidence of our population."

She also commented on the prospect of Ukraine's EU bid: "In my opinion, we have no choice but to bring Ukraine even closer to us, and the worst signal we could send at this point would be to waver. And what Ukraine needs now is hope and perspective."

In total, since mid-April, the invaders have buried at least 16 thousand Mariupol residents in mass graves - near the villages of Stary Krym, Mangush and Vinogradnoye. About 5,000 more people were buried by public utilities until mid-March. Under the rubble, in spontaneous cemeteries and in temporary morgues, thousands of bodies still remain.

"We estimated the number of dead Mariupol residents at 22,000. But more and more evidence suggests that the consequences of the crimes of the rashists are much worse. Now the Russians, when identifying Ukrainians who are trying to cross the border and for whom there is evidence that they received the status of refugees from the war, deliver them to such a filtration camp, said Petr Andryushchenko, an adviser to the mayor of Mariupol.

Residents of Mariupol, who came to such a camp for the first time two weeks ago, say that the camp in the Bezymenny "DPR" looks like "child's play" compared to the Russian border one. Andryushchenko urges Ukrainians who are trying to escape Russia to use other routes, in particular through Belarus and Georgia.

11:23 Russia is moving troops to the borders in the Kursk region. According to Governor Roman Starovoit, "a large number of personnel of the Ministry of Defense" were sent to the territory of the region after shelling allegedly from the Ukrainian side: "Additional weapons have already arrived and are arriving in the form of artillery installations, rocket launchers to ensure the safety of citizens' lives."

11:21 NATO at its summit on June 28-30 plans to adopt a strategic concept for the alliance, which will guide it over the next decade. In addition, according to preliminary data, two women and a young man were injured. After the explosion, the central square of Melitopol was cordoned off. 10:39 NATO may no longer comply with previous obligations to refrain from deploying its forces in Eastern Europe, since Russia has violated the agreements, said the deputy secretary general of the alliance, Mircea Joanne. In his opinion, the attack of the Russian Federation on Ukraine has deprived of any sense the founding act of NATO-Russia, which describes the principles of cooperation. There is no dialogue between the parties.

"They made a decision, they pledged not to attack their neighbors, but they do it, and to hold regular consultations with NATO, but they don't. Therefore, I think that in fact this constituent act is not actually effective because of Russia," said Joan.

According to him, Russia has effectively withdrawn from the 1997 treaty: "Now we have no restrictions to have a strong position on the eastern flank and ensure that every square inch of NATO territory is protected by Article 5 and our allies."

10:23 Ukraine handed over to Erdogan's adviser a list of ships by which Russia is trying to take out the stolen Ukrainian grain and other goods, the leader of the Crimean Tatar people, Mustafa Dzhemilev, said. According to him, the Turkish side was informed that the Russian Federation transports goods stolen in Ukraine, including through the ports of Turkey, "although four years ago it was decided that no ships visiting ports in the occupied territories, primarily in Crimea, could be accepted and serviced in the ports of Turkey".

Dzhemilev said that a list of ships was handed over to Turkey, on which wheat stolen from the Kherson region was loaded, and they exported it through the ports of Turkey and tried to sell it to Turkey, Syria and Egypt. "We agreed that they would take it under control," Dzhemilev added.

09:16 British intelligence reports that Russia probably suffered huge losses among middle and junior officers. The reason is that brigade and battalion commanders are most likely to move forward into danger, since they bear uncompromising responsibility for the actions of their units.

Due to a lack of manpower, junior officers direct the lowest level tactical actions. All this will exacerbate the current problems in modernizing the approach to command and control, analysts say. Therefore, the Russian battalion tactical groups that are recreated in Ukraine from the surviving units are likely to be less effective due to the lack of junior commanders. In addition, there are local rebellions among the Russian forces.

08:44 The Crimean mobile operator has earned in the Kherson region, said the "deputy head" of the region Kirill Stremousov.

Analysts also report that the Russians continued the assault on Severodonetsk on May 29, but did not have a confirmed advance, and their progress will be slow. The Russian army in eastern Ukraine, which aimed to capture the entire Luhansk and Donetsk regions, is now almost entirely concentrated in Severodonetsk.

Experts believe that Russian forces are unlikely to be able to conduct multiple simultaneous operations and are likely to further deprioritize advances southeast of Izyum and west of Liman in favor of concentrating existing forces on Severodonetsk.

The invaders also continued offensive operations to cut Ukrainian land lines of communication northeast of Bakhmut and are unlikely to attempt a direct attack on the city.

Therefore, if Ukraine offers us to be the guarantor of security and the guarantor of peace when the war is over, and if such terms of the peace treaty are accepted - yes, Poland will participate in this."
