Arabia
Saudi Arabia bars foreign travelers from Hajj over COVID-19
[JPost] - Saudi Arabia has restricted the annual Hajj pilgrimage to its own citizens and residents for the second year running in response to the coronavirus pandemic, the state Saudi Press Agency (SPA)reported on Saturday.

Only people aged between 18 and 65 who have been vaccinated or immunized against the virus, and are free of chronic diseases, will be able to take part, the ministry that manages the Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca said in a statement carried by SPA.

It also set a maximum of 60,000 participants.

"The decision (was made) to guarantee the safety of haj amid uncertainty over the coronavirus," the kingdom's health minister Tawfiq al-Rabiah said in a televised press conference carried by SPA.

"Despite the availability of vaccine, there is uncertainty over the virus and some countries still record high numbers of COVID cases, the other challenge is the different variants of the virus, hence came the decision to restrict hajj," al-Rabiah said.

The minister said only approved COVID vaccines from Pfizer, Astrazeneca, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson will be valid for the hajj.
No Sinovac or Sinopharm vaccinated need apply

-Great Cultural Revolution
Dennis Prager: The Best Thing to Do to Retake America
[EpochTimes] The most frequent question people pose to me is: What can I/we do to fight back against the nihilistic anti-American destruction of virtually all the country's major institutions?

There is an answer.

The single best thing Americans can do to counter the left-wing attack on America‐against its freedoms, its schools, its families, its children, its governmental institutions, its sports, its news and entertainment media, its medical establishment, the CIA, the FBI, the State Department, and the military‐is to take their children out of America's schools.

Other than in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), the vast majority of America's elementary schools, high schools, colleges, and universities teach your child or grandchild almost nothing important; prematurely sexualize them, thereby robbing them of their innocence; and harm them intellectually and morally. They rarely teach them, for example, art or music because they are too busy teaching them race-centered hatred of whites, of America, and of America's values.

Sending your children to most American schools is playing Russian roulette with their values‐but unlike the gun in Russian roulette, which has a bullet in only one of its six chambers, the schools' guns hold four or five bullets.

#2  ^ thanks to COVID, more and more families are realizing this.

Homeschooling is soaring. Approaching 10% of American

That's about 5x the number who were homeschooled as recently as 2000.

Eventually the public schools will collapse due to the revenue shortfall when 1/3 or more of the population opts out

#5  Just did a year with Khan and math, pre-Algebra.

Solid, especially if your math and/or teaching skills need a bit more refinement. My disagreements were philosophical in nature, such as order of teaching, but it is far superior to Common Corp.

And that disagreement is as old as time, how to show the importance, relevancy, and usefulness in math to a student who was brought up to believe in its uselessness, "I'll never use Algebra/Trig/Geometry/etc! so what's the point?"

One was a play on what an olde math teacher called "Pick up Triangles" where a series of connected triangles was shown, and side and/or angle or 2 would be presented, and you had to find all other sides and angles. 3 rectangles were positioned to form a right triangle, one rectangle side was given, solve. So I go about doing my thing, but the lesson was to pick one of the 4 answers which made most sense and confirm.

I was like, "Hold up, that isn't solving, that's picking an answer, and that isn't how real life works. "You are building an overpass in Florida, should the supporting beams be A, B, D, or D?" " Explaining this to Daughter, this she agreed it was a bit flash for the chapter "My first Triangles" she hadn't been given the proper tools, the formulas and theorems, necessary to solve it, which she found frustrating rather than inspirational, so if you know your stuff, you will still want to stay on top of the daily lessons.

Sen Cotton Blasts Retraining the Military
[Epoch Times] Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) told Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on June 10 that "hundreds" of military whistleblowers have reported being forced to receive "anti-American indoctrination" training, including critical race theory (CRT).

In a Senate hearing with Austin, Cotton claimed that within the military, there’s "plummeting morale, growing mistrust between races and sexes where none existed just six months ago and unexpected retirements and separations based on these trainings alone."
Just purging the Trumpers.
In the hearing, Austin told Cotton that some training is designed to make sure that the armed forces are "welcoming to everyone who can qualify and who is fit to serve."

"We ought to look like the America we support and defend, and senior leadership should look like what's in the ranks," Austin said.

But Cotton suggested that claims the military is attempting to foster diversity with such training are incorrect.

"[It's] about a very specific kind of anti-American indoctrination that is seeping into some parts of our military, based on the whistleblower complaints we have received," he said.

One whistleblower, Cotton alleged, said that military history training was replaced with training about police brutality, "systemic racism," and "white privilege." Another said that his unit had to read "White Fragility" by feminist author and critical theory proponent Robin DiAngelo, according to the senator.

#2  "welcoming to everyone who can qualify and who is fit to serve."

The enemy doesn't give a crap about "fitting in". The enemy only wants to kill you as efficiently and effectively as possible. That is the very basics of who you recruit and train. If you don't, it won't matter cause you are not going to be around or in charge of anything.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
US lifts some Iranian sanctions as nuclear talks resume
[Rudaw] Washington on Thursday lifted sanctions on five Iranian officials and companies who it said were involved in the oil trade. Officials said the move was unrelated to the nuclear talks in Vienna, but was because of a "change in status or behavior."

The US lifted sanctions on three former officials with the Iranian government and two companies "previously involved in the purchase, acquisition, sale, transport, or marketing of Iranian petrochemical products," the state department announced.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the decision to lift sanctions was a result of "a verified change in status or behavior on the part of the sanctioned parties."

US state department spokesperson Ned Price said during a press briefing on Thursday that there was no connection between the delisting and ongoing talks in Vienna to revive the Iranian nuclear accord, officially called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

"What is absolutely true is that there is absolutely no connection between the JCPOA and ongoing negotiations in Vienna. This is a routine technical practice consistent with sanctions hygiene," he said, adding "delisting is a normal practice."

The JCPOA, signed in 2015, put limits on Iran’s nuclear activities and allowed inspections into its facilities. Former US President Donald Trump
...Oh, noze! Not him!...
withdrew from the deal in 2018 and began a "maximum pressure" campaign of sanctions in a bid to force Tehran to make a new deal that would also address its ballistic missile program and regional activities.

Under the sanctions, Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
has steadily walked back on its nuclear commitments and is now enriching uranium up to at least 60 percent, far above the 3.67 percent limit set in the agreement.

Negotiations between the remaining signatories of the 2015 nuclear deal — Iran, Russia, China, UK, La Belle France and Germany — began in early April in Vienna to find a route for the United States to rejoin the accord, lifting sanctions and for Iran to return to full compliance with its nuclear obligations. The fifth round of talks ended on June 2 with optimism that a deal could be reached. A sixth round of talks in Vienna will begin this weekend.

Iran has continuously said it would return to its commitments under the deal, but only in exchange for a full lift on US sanctions that have crippled its economy.

Iranians will go to the polls to elect a new president on June 18. What will happen to the talks if they are not concluded before outgoing President Hassan Rouhani
...Iran's moderate president, which he is, relative to his predecessor, which doesn't mean he's anything but a puppet of the nearest holy man...
, the architect of the deal, leaves office is not clear, though presidential candidates have signaled their support for the nuclear deal.

The spokesperson for Iran’s foreign ministry during the fifth round of talks said that "significant progress" has been made, though he acknowledged that some "key issues remain" and the process should not be rushed.

PKK says Erdogan proposed a ceasefire deal
[Rudaw] A bigwig from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) said The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
’s president reached out to propose a ceasefire agreement that would end their conflict in Turkey and the Kurdistan Region while intra-Kurdish tensions are high.

"A few months ago [Ottoman Turkish President Recep Tayyip] Erdogan asked us, through some friends, to declare a ceasefire in Turkey," Murat Karayilan, member of the PKK executive committee, said in an interview aired on Sterk TV on Thursday.

The message from Erdogan was that, if a truce is declared in Turkey, then "whatever you do in other parts of Kurdistan, will not be [Ankara’s] business," Karayilan said.

The PKK leader said this was an attempt by Turkey to encourage a war between the PKK and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), which is the main ruling party in the Kurdistan Region and enjoys strong ties with Ankara. "This is the enemy’s game. We need to be aware," said Karayilan.

The offer from Turkey was made in secret and Karayilan wanted to raise it in a meeting with KDP leader Masoud Barzani or other officials, but decided to "reveal it to the Kurdish public now."

Historic tensions between the PKK and KDP are once again elevated as the PKK is under intense pressure from Turkey’s armed forces and drone power, and the guerrillas are blamed for two separate attacks on Peshmerga forces that resulted in the death of six. The PKK has denied involvement in the deaths.

Gunmen attack villages, kill over 90 in Nigeria
[DW] A Nigerian regional governor called on the residents to "defend themselves" against bandidos following the latest brutal attack.

At least 90 people were killed by gunnies in northwestern Nigeria, local media reported on Friday citing the region's police.

"An attack took place at Kadawa village of Zurmi local government where bandidos took advantage of the night to strike on unsuspecting people and killed them in cold blood," a police spokesperson told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

"On getting the news of the attack, the Commissioner of Police ordered combined units of security personnel to mobilize to the area, restore peace and confidence in the communities and track the perpetrators so that they can be brought to book," he added.

The attack, which took place on Thursday in a village in Zamfara state, was the latest in a spate of deadly attacks and mass kidnappings the region has seen in recent months.

GOVERNOR: 'DEFEND YOURSELF'
Earlier on Friday, the governor of Zamfara told residents to take matters into their own hands and fight back against such attacks.

"I am calling on the people of the state to defend themselves if the bandidos attack them," Governor Bello Matawalle was quoted as saying by the Nigerian Tribune daily.

"My government has approved that whenever the bandidos attack you, do not wait for the security personnel to come to your rescue. You should rise and protect yourselves," he said.

Gunmen have ramped up attacks in the country's northwest region forcing thousands of people to flee to neighboring Niger.

The security situation in the northwest and central Nigeria remains fragile. The rising violence presents a new challenge for President Muhammadu Buhari's security forces who have been locked in a war with the jihadists in the country's northeast for more than a decade.

According to Doctors Without Borders (MSF), button men are increasingly sexually assaulting their hostages, and many rape survivors have not received treatment.

Turkish appeals court upholds lengthy prison sentence for Kurdish politician
An interim step before the Turkish supreme court called, in the French style, the Court of Cassation.
[Rudaw] A Ottoman Turkish appeals court on Friday upheld a lengthy prison sentence of more than 22 years for a prominent Kurdish politician over alleged links to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), a pro-Kurdish news outlet reported.

Leyla Guven, a former politician for the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), was stripped of her parliamentary membership in June 2020 and later sentenced to 22 years and three months in jail for allegedly being a member of the PKK and propagating for the group.

She had appealed to the Regional Court of Justice on the grounds that her sentence was unfair, demanding a reversal of the ruling. However,

Senior PKK official killed near Makhmour camp: Turkish state media
[Rudaw] A bigwig from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) was killed by Ottoman Turkish intelligence during a military operation near Makhmour refugee camp on Friday, Ottoman Turkish state media has reported.

Hasan Adir, also known as Salih Cizre, was killed in an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
after being surveilled by Ottoman Turkish intelligence, Anadolu Agency reported, citing anonymous security sources.

It claimed Adir used to administer the camp, located in Erbil province but in territory disputed between Baghdad and Erbil, in coordination with Selman Bozkir, whom Erdogan said on June 6 was killed by Ankara the previous day.

The attack which killed Bozkir also killed two other people near the camp, home to more than 12,000 Kurdish refugees who fled state persecution in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
. Ankara claims the camp has links to the PKK.

AA said Adir was among the most-wanted PKK officials in Turkey, and had previously headed PKK operations in Sulaimani and Germany.

Neither the Ottoman Turkish government nor the PKK have confirmed Adir’s death.

The PKK is an gang struggling for the increased rights of Kurds in Turkey but is seen as a terrorist organization by Ankara which regularly conducts military operations against the group at home and in the Kurdistan Region.

Ottoman Turkish defense minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told TRT Haber on Wednesday that the camp must be "cleared" of the PKK.

On June 2, Erdogan told the same outlet that Makhmour was the next target after the Qandil Mountains — where the PKK is headquarted.

"Makhmour is almost the incubation nest of Qandil. This brood nest is flourishing in the city centre. If we do not go after this, this brood will continue to produce," he said. "We care about Makhmour as much as Qandil."

Iraqi forces find 4 rockets aimed at Balad airbase
[Rudaw] Iraqi forces on Friday seized four rockets in western Diyala province, aimed at an airbase housing US contractors that was hit by a rocket attack two days ago.

Four Katyusha rockets with launch pads were found in an orchard near the border with Salahaddin province, the military’s Security Media Cell announced. They were "ready to target Balad airbase," it added.

On Wednesday night, three rockets hit the Balad airbase north of Baghdad, causing no casualties.

Frequent attacks on US interests around the country are blamed on Iranian-backed militias who want to force American troops to withdraw from Iraq. The attacks increased after the US assassinated Iranian General Qasem Soleimani and Iraqi militia commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis in Baghdad in January 2020.

Lockheed Martin maintenance teams for Iraq's F-16 fighter jets are based at Balad airbase. They were pulled out temporarily in March because of the security risks from rocket attacks.

"The threat of attacks this quarter forced U.S. contractors to evacuate Balad Air Base temporarily and contributed to the continued ordered departure of U.S Embassy staff," the Pentagon stated in a recent report.

Earlier this month, Iraqi and American military commanders met for technical talks about implementing commitments made as part of their strategic dialogue in April when the United States agreed to withdraw all combat troops.

15-year-old Palestinian killed during clashes with IDF at outpost protest
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinian health ministry names youth as Mohammad Hamayel, says 6 others maimed during demonstration outside Evyatar in West Bank, which was reestablished 2 months ago.

A Paleostinian teenager was killed by IDF fire in festivities that broke out during a demonstration against the recent establishment of an illegal outpost in the northern West Bank by national religious settlers, the Paleostinian health ministry said Friday.

The ministry identified the slain youth as Mohammad Hamayel, 15, adding that six protesters were maimed just outside the village of Beita, near the Evyatar outpost.

The official Paleostinian news agency Wafa reported that Israeli troops fired live rounds, tear gas and rubber-coated steel pellets at the demonstrators.

The IDF said its forces had responded to violent mostly peaceful riots which hundreds of Paleostinians took part in, hurling stones, burning tires and shooting off fireworks.

The army added that it used riot-dispersal measures, including the shooting of low-caliber Ruger rounds, which are meant to be less lethal than other forms of ammunition.

The military did not comment directly on the reported death.

The land on which Evyatar was reestablished in April historically belonged to the adjacent Paleostinian villages of Beita, Kablan and Yitma, though residents have been barred access to it for decades for what the IDF has said were security reasons.

Evyatar has already been razed several times since it was first established in 2013 after the murder of Yitzhar resident Evyatar Borovsky in a stabbing attack at the Tapuah Junction.

The outpost has quickly grown over the last two months, swelling to roughly 40 buildings for dozens of families.

The outpost’s Facebook page boasts that Evyatar prevents contiguity between the surrounding Paleostinian villages while connecting the Israeli settlement of Tapuah to the Za’atara Junction and Migdalim settlement.

On Sunday, the head of the IDF’s Central Command issued a "demarcation order" barring additional construction in the Evyatar outpost and ordering all inhabitants to vacate the site with their belongings beginning next week.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has objected to the order, but the matter is expected to be a problem for the next government led by Yamina chairman Naftali Bennett to solve.

The Friday festivities came just over a day after two officers in the Paleostinian Authority’s security service were rubbed out in an exchange of fire with Israeli forces operating in the northern West Bank.

5 Russian speaking separatists killed in gunfight in Lugansk
Direct translation of the article. Edited. Narrative from Russkaya Vesna and from Chris Covert
Ukrainian saboteurs today killed five servicemen of the People's Militia of the LPR. This was reported in the press service of the department.

"On June 11, this year, a sabotage group of a separate special operations center "West" (the former 8th Special Forces Regiment of the Special Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine) at the observation post of the People's Militia in the area of the settlement of Golubovskoe of the Luhansk People's Republic five militiamen were killed in cold blood," the message says.

"Our servicemen were shot in the head with special weapons. At the same time, one of them was killed by a shot made from a foreign-made sniper rifle. The rest were shot at point-blank by the Ukrainian sabotage group that penetrated the territory of the post," the NM LNR noted.

Colonel Ivan Filiponenko, a spokesman for the Lugansk People's Army claimed the operation which led to the deaths of five Lugansk soldiers was on orders to exacerbate the situation at the front, which came directly from Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy.

Filiponenko also pointed that that they have data about American involvement in training and supplying the shooters in the incident.

From VKontakte, military journalist Vladimir Orlov says probes of separatists' positions by Ukrainian special forces, along with artillery shots and drone overflights are a routine occurrence.

Orlov also said the soldiers were part of the "Ghost Battalion" a formation first formed in 2014 a the start of the war. "Ghost Battalion" base of operations is in Alchevsk.

From the Live Journal of Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin, a separatist militiaman with the call sign of "Joker DNR", said that ten special forces groups were training in Mariupol since June 9th, six for operations in Donetsk and four for Lugansk.

Claims Joker DNR:

"The main task of these groups is to work in the gray zone along the entire front line, with the aim of unleashing local clashes with Donetsk and Luhansk units from 10 to 17 June. At the same time, in the area of work of these groups, there will be Ukrainian and Western journalists who will have to film aggressive material about the aggression of an aggressive enemy on the eve of the meeting between Putin and Biden."

Rozhin pointed out that last May, heavy flighting erupted between the "Ghost "Battalion" and forward elements of the Ukrainian 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade.

Rozhin thinks the Ukrainians will try to hang the suicide of a morale officer from the brigade, Lieutenant Karina Shemchuk on fighting with separatists.

Afghanistan
MPs Seek Deployment of Reinforcements to Frontlines in North
[ToloNews] The centers of two districts in northern and northeastern Afghanistan have fallen to the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
, two politicians said on Friday, urging the Ministry of Defense to send reinforcements to the provinces to repel a possible collapse of some strategic areas to Death Eaters.

So far, sources and officials have confirmed that the centers of at least 17 districts have fallen to bandidos holy warriors over the last two months. According to two MPs, the centers of Ishkamish district in Takhar and Sozma Qala district in Sar-e-Pul
...a city and eponymous province in northern Afghanistan, population about 500,000. Demographically it is majority Tadjik and Uzbek. There are small Pashtun, Arab, and Hazara communities, of which the Hazaras mostly don't bother anyone...
fell to the Taliban on Thursday.

The centers of Burka district in Baghlan, Narkh, and Jalrez districts in Maidan Wardak, Dawlat Shah district in Laghman
...Afghan province with a population of about 445,600, which is multi-ethnic and mostly a rural society. During the invasions of Alexander the Great, the area was known as Lampaka, wich is apparently Olde Macedonian for Laghman. The city of Mihtarlam serves as the bucolic capital of the province. The population is half Pashtun, the remainder Tadjik and Pashai. It had a repution for great wealth until it was conquered in the tenth century by Abu Mansur Sabuktigin.
He conquered it and set fire to the places in its vicinity which were inhabited by infidels, and demolishing the idol-temples, he established Islam in them, He marched and captured other cities and killed the polluted wretches, destroying the idolatrous and gratifying the Musulmans. After wounding and killing beyond all measure, his hands and those of his friends became cold in counting the value of the plundered property.
After that it was mostly notable for the production of dirt, rocks, and holy men...
, Qaisar district in Faryab, Shahrak district in Ghor, and Shirzad district in Uruzgan have fallen to the Taliban in less than two months.

The Taliban claims they have also captured Charkh district in Pashtun-infested Logar, Do Ab, and Mandol districts in Nuristan, Farsi district in Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
, Deh Yak district in Ghazni, Gezab district in Daikundi, and Shinkai district in Zabul.

"It was the Worsaj district, then Farkhar and Chah Ab, and ultimately, Ishkamish fell to bandidos holy warriors and now the enemy is trying to divert its offensives on Bangi district," said Amir Mohammad Khaksar, MP from Takhar.

"The (Qala-e-Naw) city is under the threat by Taliban. In Sozma Qala district, only district building and two check posts have remained, but according to our information, the center of the district has fallen (to Death Eaters)," said Sayed Hayatullah Alimi, MP from Sar-e-Pul.

A politician from Badghis province in southwest Afghanistan said fighting between government forces and the Taliban has inched closer to the outskirts of Qala-e-Naw, the province's center. Badghis MPs also asked for additional troops deployed to the province to repel the threats.

Taliban also launched attacks on several fronts in Nimroz and Badakhshan provinces.

"We have lost several parts of Arghanjkhwah district in Badakhshan. The problem will get worse if the government does not take action regarding the issue," said Hujjatullah Farahmand, MP from Badakhshan.

"The enemy launched a major offensive on Khashrod district in Nimroz to capture the district," said Gul Ahmad Noorzad, an MP from Nimroz.

But the Afghan security authorities said the government forces have inflicted massive casualties to the Taliban in the past 24 hours.

"Heavy casualties were inflected (to Taliban) in Pashtun Kot and Qaisar districts in Faryab, Sozma Qala district in Sar-e-Pul as well as in Uruzgan and Baghlan provinces," the Defense Ministry front man Rohullah Ahmadzai said.

In a statement on Friday, the 209 Shaheen Army Corps assured the residents of Sar-e-Pul and Takhar that all districts in the two provinces will be protected against threats from Death Eaters.

‘Govt Controls Less Than Half of Territory in Balkh District’
[ToloNews] At least 35% of the territory in Balkh district in the northern province of Balkh is under the government’s control while the remaining parts are either under Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
influence or are contested between the two sides, an official said.

Balkh district has 184 villages, district governor Mohammad Yunus Stanekzai said, adding that 65 of them are under the government’s control.

The district has 180 members of public uprising forces who have a big role in ensuring the security of the district, Stanekzai said.

Balkh district is 24 kilometers far from Mazar-e-Sharif city, the center of Balkh, and is known as one of the most insecure districts in the province. The district has witnessed two big attacks in the last two months: one on an army base and another on police headquarters.

The district governor said that the public uprising forces need further support in terms of equipment.

"Balkh district has 184 districts. Unfortunately, most of the villages are under the opposition’s influence, but fortunately, we have a good percentage under our control where the morale is very high... At least 35% of the villages are under the government’s control."

At least 20 members of public uprising forces are stationed at an outpost 4 kilometers far from Boka district, which is often contested between government forces and the Taliban. Security forces at the outpost said they are always ready to defend their areas against any threat from bully boys.

"Taliban attack whenever they find an opportunity, but we are fully ready to defend," said Agha Mohammad, a commander of public uprising forces.

Another member of the public uprising forces said that festivities have intensified over the last few days.

"This area is called Piaaz-Kar. It is the frontline. The enemy roams here every night, but they have failed in their evil goal. They attack, but they are suppressed, they are defeated and then they go back," said Hafizullah, a member of public uprising forces.

According to the local forces, the Taliban uses people’s homes for the war, a claim that was rejected by the group.

"These homes have been used in many attacks on us. They have shelled rockets on us from these homes, but they cannot succeed. We have given them a tit-for-tat response and we will do the same, going forward," said Gulab Khan, a public uprising forces member.

The continuation of festivities in the district has created concerns among the resident who says violence must stop.

"The foreigners are leaving our country, but still attacks are happening in our district in which only civilians are harmed," said Saifuddin, a Balkh resident.

"They destroyed houses, killed our people, and left them with a dark future, they planted mines. What is the sin of these Moslems? They are civilians," said Abdul Jabbar, a Balkh resident.

Russian central bank raises a key rate
Direct translation of the article
[REGNUM] The increase in the key rate by the Central Bank (CB) of Russia to 5.5% may be dictated by foreign policy factors. Economist Vasily Koltashov told a REGNUM correspondent about this .

The expert noted that the second consecutive increase in the key rate by half a percent at once in the Central Bank is explained by the fact that the Russian economy is on the mend, therefore, the rate can be raised. Critics of this position say that this makes it more difficult to lend to households and small and medium-sized enterprises. This leads to the fact that big business is in a better position.

"I must say that such criticism is fair, but neither the statements of the Central Bank, nor the position of the critics explain everything that is happening. I do not think that the rate hike is entirely correct, but I can assume that it is dictated solely by foreign policy circumstances," the REGNUM interlocutor said .

Travel Log: Living traces of Alexander Nevsky: Theotokos-Rozhdestvensky monastery
Direct Translation. Edited
photos and narrative by Natalia Streltsova

[Regnum] The Mother of God Rozhdestvensky Monastery is located in the city of Vladimir. Founded by the Grand Duke Vsevolod the Big Nest on August 22, 1191, under Bishop Ivan of Suzdal. The monastery was built on an elevated site above the Klyazma River and is one of the oldest monasteries in the Russian land.

The monastery, before the heyday of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, was the largest center of the Ionic life of North-Eastern Russia.

The monastery witnessed events such as the invasion of the Tatar-Mongols. During the invasion of Khan Batu, the monastery was completely destroyed, and the abbot, Archimandrite Pakhomiy, with his brethren, accepted a martyr's death.

The monastery occupied an important place in history, both in church and public life. The abbots of the monastery participated in Moscow Church Councils and were often elected to various bishops' chairs. Until 1230 the monastery was headed by abbots. Later, an archimandry was established.

After his death, the holy relics of Alexander Nevsky rested for several centuries in the main monastery cathedral from 1237 to 1723. Later, by decree of Peter I, they were transferred to St. Petersburg.

Over the 830-year history of the monastery, many buildings on its territory were erected, destroyed and subsequently restored. On the territory of the monastery are located: the refectory church of the Nativity of Christ, a pretended chapel in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Iverskaya", a bell tower with the temple of Alexander Nevsky, the church of the Nativity of the Prophet Forerunner and Baptist John, the diocesan administration, the church of St. Theophan the Recluse at the bishop's office. And also on the territory there are the chapel of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, a memorial cross, a seminary, a governor's building, a hotel and other buildings.

The monastery is located not far from the railway station and the bus station of the city of Vladimir along Bolshaya Moskovskaya street, house 68. The entrance to the monastery is free. Open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. Divine services are held in the temple.

It is more convenient to get from Moscow to Vladimir by car and train. If you don't have your own car, you can buy a ticket for an express train, the price for one ticket is from 800 rubles, or the high-speed train "Lastochka", the ticket price is from 1300 rubles - and then the journey will take 1 hour and 43 minutes. A regular train takes more than three and a half hours, the ticket price is from 500 rubles.

At a news conference at the Elliot Twins public housing complex Thursday, Frey said his plan will help keep people in their homes as the city anticipates a wave of evictions after a statewide ban is lifted. The federal government is expected to end its eviction moratorium on June 30.

Pro-Trump Republicans are flocking to site of partisan Arizona ballot audit
[MSN] Republican lawmakers and officials from at least seven states have toured or plan to tour the site of the ongoing partisan ballot review in Arizona as former President Donald Trump continues to spread the lie that his loss was the result of fraud.

The Republicans who have made the trip are among the most pro-Trump in their states, and the visits come as far-right media personalities and lawmakers have joined in the former president's call to expand such reviews to locales outside of Maricopa County.

On Thursday, a Washington Post reporter spotted Colorado state Rep. Ron Hanks taking a tour of Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix, where the Republican-backed review of Maricopa County's election results has slogged on for more than a month. Virginia state Sen. Amanda Chase, who just lost her bid to be the GOP gubernatorial nominee in her state, toured the facilities on Thursday, as well.

US Begins Combat Operations in Afghanistan from Abroad
[ToloNews] US Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin on Thursday said the US military has already begun conducting combat operations and surveillance in Afghanistan from outside the country’s borders, but he did not mention whether the United States military will still conduct Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s in the country to defend population centers after the withdrawal completes.

"Going forward, in terms of our (counterterrorism) efforts, those CT efforts will be focused on those elements that can possibly conduct attacks against our homeland," Austin said as quoted by the Air Force magazine.

Austin said the US military is already conducting air combat patrols and support from ships in the Gulf and sending surveillance aircraft to Afghanistan from nations in the Gulf region.

As of now, he said, the US is still looking for options to station troops and aircraft in neighboring countries to make the flight to Afghanistan shorter.

"We have the capability now to do that," Austin said. "What we are looking for is the ability to shorten the legs going forward by stationing some capability in neighboring countries. That is still a work in progress."

In response to a question on whether US aircraft would strike in support of Afghan forces to protect cities after the withdrawal, Austin said he would not speculate on "any potential outcomes or any potential future actions."

"We continue to provide support to the Afghan cops as we retrograde," he said. "Once we have completed our retrograde, that will be very difficult to do because our capabilities will have diminished in country."

Afghanistan
Taliban: Turkey Should Withdraw Troops Under Doha Deal – Report
[ToloNews] Amidst reports of Ankara’s proposal to guard and run Kabul’s airport after the withdrawal of US and coalition forces from the country, a Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
front man has said that The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
should pull its troops from Afghanistan under the Doha agreement, adding another layer of complexity to concerns about consequences of troop pullout.

Quoted by Rooters, Taliban front man Suhail Shaheen said that Turkey should withdraw its troops from Afghanistan under the Doha agreement.

In a text message to Rooters, Shaheen has said that Turkey should also leave Afghanistan as it has been a NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
member.

"Turkey was part of NATO forces in the past 20 years, so as such, they should withdraw from Afghanistan on the basis of the Agreement we signed with US on 29th Feb 2020," Shaheen said as quoted by Rooters.

"Otherwise, Turkey is a great Islamic country. Afghanistan has had historical relations with it. We hope to have close and good relations with them as a new Islamic government is established in the country in future," he added as quoted by Rooters.

Rooters reports that the State Department and the Ottoman Turkish Foreign Ministry did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The withdrawal of US and coalition forces from Afghanistan has left many with concerns about the country’s political future as well as the safety of other countries’ diplomats once all troops leave.
Previously Turkey has said it will protect the Kabul airport with 500 soldiers if the NATO allies provide financial, logistical, and political supports to them.

Muslim activist running for office in Washington state previously boarded a school bus full of children and made a bomb threat
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

An employee of Seattle, who has been called a "social justice warrior" and is now a progressive candidate for the King County Council threatened to blow up a school bus, then called middle school students cowards as they fled.

According to court documents obtained by The Post Millennial, Ubax Gardheere boarded the Highline School District bus on Jan. 12, 2010 as it travelled on its morning route. Once aboard the bus, which was heading to Chinook Middle School, Gardheere demanded the driver tell his dispatcher "that a national security incident was going on."

#2  Funny, her campaign site doesn't mention that:
Currently, Ubax is the Equitable Development Division Director in the City of Seattle Office of Planning and Community Development. She currently oversees the Equitable Development Initiative (EDI) program, investing in community-based organizations working on anti-displacement strategies and economic development opportunities.

In the last five years, Ubax and her team directly moved over $35 million to Seattle’s most marginalized communities, and are poised to move another $16 million in 2021. At the same time, these communities have leveraged over $200 million in additional investments from other City departments and funders. The biggest success here is not the dollar amount, but how communities are shifting government and funder practices: away from a charity-based model that overlooks the inherent dignity and agency within communities, and towards a collaborative model that builds better together, in relationship.

UN says over 200 migrants intercepted off Libyan shores
[AlAhram] Safa Msehli, a spokeswoman for the International Organization for Migration, tweeted that the migrants colonists were expected to be sent to Libyan detention centers where they are usually 'extorted and abused'

More than 200 migrants colonists bound for Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
were intercepted on Friday by Libya's coasties just off the shore of the North African country, a UN spokeswoman said.

So far this year, 11,000 migrants colonists were have been detained by Libyan authorities under ``appalling conditions,'' she added.

Libya has become the major transit point for African and Arab migrants colonists hoping to reach Europe, after the North African country plunged into a bloody civil war following a NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
-backed uprising that toppled and killed longtime ruler Muammar Qadaffy
...a proud Arab institution for 42 years, now among the dear departed, though not the dearest...
in 2011.

Smugglers often pack desperate families into ill-equipped rubber boats that stall and founder along the perilous Central Mediterranean route. Over the last several years, hundreds of thousands of migrants colonists have reached Europe either on their own or after being rescued at sea.

Thousands have drowned along the way. Others were intercepted and returned to Libya to be left at the mercy of gangs or confined in squalid detention centers that lack adequate food and water, according to rights groups.

Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
with an advanced satellite that officials say can be used to track military targets across the Middle East and would significantly boost Tehran’s intelligence-gathering ability, the Washington Post reported Thursday.

#1  Putin has made the calculus that the balance of power has shifted inevitably away from the US and the West and more towards a Sino-centric world polarity. Enhancing the Iranians is a choice of more options for his ambition to restore the Motherlands historic clients. A defeated Israel and cowed Europe, and a dis-functional US in rapid decline and economic/political colonization by China seems a fit for that long term. Gunman in Florida grocery store shot baby first before killing grandmother
[CNN] The gunman who opened fire in a Florida grocery store Thursday first fired one shot that killed a 1-year-old boy before struggling with the boy's 69-year-old grandmother and then fatally shooting her, authorities said.

The shooter, identified as 55-year-old Timothy J. Wall, then killed himself, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

The motive in the shooting remains unknown. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office has said there is no known relationship between the shooter and the victims, who will remain unidentified after their families invoked Marsy's Law.

Palm Beach Sheriff Ric Bradshaw indicated in a news conference Friday that Wall had expressed on social media a desire to "kill people and children."

Sheriff Maj. Talal Masri said authorities received the first call about shots fired at 11:35 a.m. By the time they arrived at the Publix Supermarket in Royal Palm Beach, they found both victims and the shooter dead.

Based on a review of video from inside the store, Masri said Sherlocks determined the victims had arrived at 11:07 a.m.

Wall entered the store at 11:29 a.m., Masri said, carrying a golf putter like a walking stick. At 11:30 a.m., the grandmother and her grandson entered the produce section. Wall followed a minute later and was looking toward the victims, Masri said.

A gunman fatally shot a 1-year-old boy and his grandmother at a Florida grocery store

At 11:34 a.m., Masri said, Wall approached the victims, pulled out his gun and fired a single round, killing the child in the shopping cart. A struggle ensued between Wall and the grandmother, who was eventually thrown to the ground. Wall then shot her, too, Masri said.

Wall then killed himself.

The investigation remains ongoing, Masri said. Detectives have so far interviewed more than 30 people who were inside the store who either saw or heard the shooting happen.

Italian Diplomat: We Reject Tripoli Being Controlled by Mercenaries
[LIBYAREVIEW] The Italian Ambassador to Algeria, Giovanni Pugliese said that Rome and Algiers share common views on a number of issues, including on Libya.

Pugliese commented on the statements made by Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in an interview with the Al Jazeera news channel, that "Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
was a red line," and that Algeria would not allow mercenaries to occupy the capital.

According to the Italian Ambassador, "to some extent, we also reject Tripoli as the capital of mercenaries. Libya is occupied by foreign mercenaries and must return to the hands of the Libyans with a gradual decline of the foreign presence." He pointed out that last month, a telephone conversation between Prime Minister Mario Draghi, and President Tebboune took place, where they discussed Libya, and other regional crises.

"A few weeks later, there was a phone call between the Minister of Foreign Affairs Luigi Di Maio, and his Algerian counterpart, Sabri Boukadoum, who again spoke about Libya and the Middle East," he added.

Pugliese said that during Libyan Prime Minister, Abdel-Hamid Dbaiba’s visit to Algeria, the issue of trade and investments with Algiers was discussed. He added that they "also talked about renewable energy, hence the issues of technological innovation."

The Italian Ambassador added: "Libya and Algeria share various topics of common interest, such as the security of their long land border, and the fight against terrorism, but there are also economic files that Italia can enter as well."

#2  Yet another fukking clownshow. This is the ridiculous high speed train project that was supposed to cost $9 billion.

Then the public was told the actual cost would be $33 billion.
Obama gave California $3.5 billion in 2010. . . and incompetence and overruns pushed the project's cost to $60 billion.

More overruns, and the cost went up to $60 billion , then $77 billion, then $80 billion by 2019.

Then Trump demanded repayment to the Feds of Obama's $3.5 billion and the idiot boy governor of California said screw you. He promised to pay for it with 25% of the California's entire carbon-offset revenues.

Now the cost is over $100 billion and the retarded project isn't even going to connect any major cities -- you'll have to hop on a bus to get to LA.

Another poster said it well.

Iranian tanker-warship transporting fast attack craft to Venezuela is also laden with MILLIONS of gallons of fuel in a ploy to get around US sanctions using maritime law
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • The Makran vessel, which is a converted oil tanker that can carry three million gallons of fuel, is one of two Iranian warships currently in the Atlantic Ocean

  • There are fears the two warships - the Makran and Sahand - are carrying weapons and are possibly en route to Venezuela

  • The Makran appears loaded with millions of gallons of fuel, experts say

  • Despite fears the warships are carrying weapons as well as oil, US authorities are unable to stop them because of sovereign immunity

  • Ships that are government-owned or operated are granted immunity under the UN Convention and cannot be subject to the jurisdiction of any country

  • The two warships - Makran and Sahand - that are currently in the Atlantic are operated by the Iran navy

  • Intelligence already has indicated that the Makran is carrying Iranian fast-attack craft and has a mobile launch platform for helicopters

  • US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin raised fears on Thursday that the vessels could possibly be carrying weapons

  • Biden administration official said the US views delivery of weapons in its hemisphere as a threat and that it will take 'appropriate measures' to prevent it

The Coalition issues a clarification on the site of Wednesday's UAV attack
[SHAFAQ] The U.S.-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS/ISIS issued a clarification on the military site attacked by the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

The Coalition said in the clarification addressed to Shafaq News Agency, "Coalition does not have a camp named Victoria."

"Before 2011, there was the 'Victory camp" (al-Nasr), and it was handed to the Iraqi Government. It is the same site at which the American University is currently located."

"The site attacked recently is 'Baghdad diplomatic support center-BDSC', which is affiliated with diplomatic commissions for logistic support."

On Wednesday, the Baghdad International Airport was attacked by three booby-trapped UAVs. The attack resulted in no human or material losses, according to the Security Media Cell.

Libyan Student Killed During Militia Clashes in Western Libya
[LIBYAREVIEW] On Thursday night, festivities erupted in al-Ajaylat, between the local al-Shalfouh aligned militia, and a militia affiliated with Mohammed Bahroun (known as al-Far) from al-Zawiya. Seven people have been confirmed to have died in the fighting.

College student, Shifaa Kroz was sitting near her balcony, where she was struck by a stray bullet that killed her instantly. Shifaa was a student at the Faculty of Education, al-Ajaylat branch. The faculty mourned the "martyr student," saying the news hit them like a "thunderbolt."

Medium and heavy weapons are said to have been used in the festivities. Activists spoke of indiscriminate rockets falling on the city’s neighbourhoods, and the closure of a number of roads. The Security Directorate of the Ministry of Interior has reportedly withdrawn its forces.

Al-Far, who is wanted by the Public Prosecutor’s office for his involvement in supporting IS, set the al-Shalfouh family home ablaze during his attack on the city.

Government forces comb Syria's Deir ez-Zor after IED attack
[NPASYRIA] After being targeted with an IED, Russian-backed Syrian government forces in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria, launched a combing campaign in the vicinity of their headquarters and military posts on Friday.

On Friday afternoon, the Russian-backed Fifth Corps intensified the combing campaigns in Syrian government-held areas of Ma’dan Atiq Desert in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, according to local sources.

Three convoys of the Fifth Corps, including cars equipped with weapons, headed towards the desert of the town of Ma’dan Atiq, Abdullah al-Khalaf, a resident from the town, said.

This took place in conjunction with flight by Russian drones over Ma’dan Atiq and its desert.

A state of alarm within the military posts began after a patrol of the Fifth Corps was targeted on the outskirts of Ma’dan Atiq by an IED that was planted on the route, Ali al-Hussein (a pseudonym), a member of the Fifth Corps, said.

Al-Hussein did not mention details regarding the impacts of the IED explosion.

In May, National Defense members accompanied by the Fifth Corps launched a combing campaign, said to target sites of Islamic State

#6  This 'foreign / hostile state' crap is just that.

Indeed. It *could* have been a hostile foreign power. Or disgruntled high school students. Or aliens. But the simple explanation is IRS staffers illegally leaking tax info.

The advantage of the "hostile state" theory, is it gives the FBI something to do besides the normal FBI things they are not doing, and it gives cover to the actual perps. Luckily, we have top men on the case.

Syrian IDP killed in Syria's al-Hole Camp
[NPASYRIA] On Friday, a Syrian IDP was murdered by unknown individuals in the fourth sector of Hawl Camp, east Hasakah, northeast Syria.

Unknown individuals killed Syrian IDP Saher al-Aliyan in front of his tent while returning from Friday prayer, a military source from the camp told North Press.

The 26-year-old al-Aliyan, who is from Deir ez-Zor, was shot by a silenced pistol, according to the source.

"In such cases, fingers are always pointed at sleeper cells of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. (ISIS), as a result of the similar crimes that the camp witnessed previously," the source added.

The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) is in the process of evacuating the camp of Syrian IDPs and sending them to their areas.

On Wednesday, a new batch including 59 families with about 202 persons left the camp towards Sirrin and other areas in Aleppo countryside, according to Hawl Camp management.

Despite a security campaign by the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) with the support of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the US-led Global Coalition in late March, Hawl Camp witnessed several murders.

During the first three months of 2021, the camp witnessed the murder of 47 persons, according to a previous statement by Asayish.

Troops segregated for 'privilege walks,' critical-race theory reading lists
[WASHINGTONTIMES] Sen. Tom Cotton revealed several whistleblower complaints from service members who objected to critical-race theory indoctrination in the military, including airmen being divide race into groups for "privilege walks."

The service members also spoke out against receiving reading lists of critical race theory books as part of the Pentagon’s new anti-extremism and diversity training within the ranks.

Mr. Cotton, Arkansas Republican, received the complaints after launching a whistleblower site in late May in partnership with Rep. Dan Crenshaw, Texas Republican.

Mr. Cotton, a former Army infantry officer, and Mr. Crenshaw, a former Navy SEAL lieutenant commander, created the site to identify "woke" ideology within the military, they said.

"This is about a very specific kind of anti-American indoctrination that is seeping into some parts of our military," Mr. Cotton said at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on Thursday.

"One Marine told us a military history training session was replaced with mandatory training on police brutality, white privilege, and systemic racism. He reported that several officers are now leaving his unit citing that training," he said. "Another service member told us that their unit was required to read White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo which claims, ’white people raised in western society are conditioned in a white supremacist world view.’"

He said an airman complained that an exercise called a privilege walk, saying it was a "racist exercise."

"Members of the wing were ordered to separate themselves by race and gender in order to stratify people based on their perceived privilege," Mr. Cotton said in describing the airman’s complaint.

The senator detailed several specific complaints on Thursday when questioning Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III during a committee hearing.

"We’re hearing reports of plummeting morale, growing mistrust between the races and sexes where none existed just six months ago, and unexpected retirements and separations based on these trainings alone," he said.

Mr. Cotton asked Mr. Austin whether he believes the military is fundamentally racist and whether service members should be treated differently based on race or sex. Mr. Austin answered no to both questions, and he said he welcomed service members to make complaints through their chain of command or inspector general.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israel said to ask Egypt to halt entry of cement, building materials into Gaza
[IsraelTimes] Public broadcaster reports goods have been entering the Strip through a crossing on the Egyptian border without any monitoring.

Israel has reportedly asked Egypt to prevent the entry to Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
of cement and other building materials that could be diverted by Paleostinian terror groups for military use.

Following the 11 days of intense fighting last month between the Israeli military and the Gaza Strip’s Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, rulers, Israel has been seeking to ensure that so-called dual-use products entering the coastal enclave are not used by terror groups to rearm.

Still, goods have been flowing through the Salah-a-Din gate of the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt three days a week without any monitoring, the Kan public broadcaster reported Wednesday. Among the goods reportedly entering Gaza through the crossing were cement, building supplies and fuel.

Israeli officials are hoping to meet with their Egyptian counterparts on the matter, having recognized that without monitoring of the goods entering Gaza, there is no way to block Hamas from rebuilding its military capabilities, the report said.

The report also said Israel had told Egypt that it has no opposition to Egyptian engineering teams in Gaza helping to clear debris left by IDF Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s, but did not want them to repair the subterranean tunnels used by Hamas and other armed Paleostinian factions.

Egypt, which played a pivotal role in negotiating the May 21 ceasefire between the sides, last week sent bulldozers, trucks and cranes into Gaza to help with rebuilding efforts in the Strip after the recent hostilities.

Kyrgyzstan complains of critical shortage of irrigation water
Direct translation of the article. Edited
[REGNUM] The situation with irrigation water in Kyrgyzstan is critical, the most severe deficit is now in the Chui region. This was announced today, June 11, at a press conference by the director of the Association of Corn Growers Vitaly Kakshtyks.

According to him, if now farmers do not regularly water corn and beets, they will go bankrupt, and farmers will have nothing to feed their livestock with.

"Many agricultural producers took out loans with the expectation of a good harvest, but now all this may collapse. To get out of the current situation, you need to firmly take control of every liter of water," Kakshtyks emphasizes.

In turn, the head of the largest agricultural cooperative in Kyrgyzstan, Rysbek Imanaliev, noted that back in the fall of 2020, agrarians predicted a critical shortage of irrigation water and called on the Ministry of Agriculture to start taking measures in advance to solve this problem.

"Many peasants were unable to plow their land due to the drought last year. The current situation could have been foreseen," he said indignantly.

To solve the problem of irrigation water shortage, Imanaliev proposes to rehabilitate the system of wells dug during the Soviet Union and equip them with the equipment necessary to automate the process of extracting water for irrigation.

Historical background of the problem
The problem of access to a limited resource in the countries of Turkestan aggravated almost immediately after the collapse of the USSR. The states located in the upper reaches of the main rivers - Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, are trying to use their positions for pressure and bargaining on Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

This problem was especially acute in Dushanbe and Tashkent. Tajikistan, obsessed with the idea of building the Rogun hydroelectric power station, threatened to leave Uzbekistan without water necessary for agriculture. The issue has now been resolved.

However, in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, there is a regular shortage of electricity associated with seasonal and dry periods, which occur every four to six years.

According to experts, in the coming decades, the problem of water shortage in the Turkestan region should seriously worsen.

Regnum.ru reported three days ago:
Due to the drought, residents of Samarkand will be able to receive water only eight hours a day. This was reported on June 8 in the press service of the Samarkand Suv Taminoti (Samarkand Water Supply) company.

Drinking water will be available to citizens from six to ten in the morning and from six to ten in the evening. The restoration of a stable water supply has not been reported. The restriction will apply to areas connected to two pumping stations.

Earlier, the Uzsuvtaminot (Uzvodosnabzhenie) company reported that there is an acute shortage of drinking water in the Samarkand region. The reasons were the lack of precipitation and low water consumption in the bed of the Zarafshan River.

Economy
US Budget Deficit for Current Year Hits Record $2.1 Trillion
[SHAFAQ] The U.S. budget deficit hit a record $2.06 trillion through the first eight months of this budget year as coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
relief programs drove spending to all-time highs.

The shortfall this year is 9.7% higher than the $1.88 trillion deficit run up over the same period a year ago, the Treasury Department said Thursday in its monthly budget report.

The report showed that spending from October through May totaled a record $4.67 trillion, up 19.7% from the same period a year ago. Government tax revenue was up 29.1% to $2.61 trillion, compared to the same period a year ago.

However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
this year's figure was bolstered by tax payments made in May, a month later than the normal April deadline but a month earlier than last year's June deadline.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March 2020 pushing 22 million people out of work, the government has responded even more forcefully with trillions of dollars in increased spending.

That support has included three rounds of direct payments to individuals, with the last payments authorized in the $1.9 trillion relief package that President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. I'm not working for you. Don't be such a horse's ass....
pushed through Congress in March.

Other support programs provided billions of dollars in emergency unemployment benefits and forgivable loans.

The deficit for the budget year that ended Sept. 30 totaled a record $3.1 trillion. Biden, who released his first budget earlier this month, is projecting that this year's deficit will total $3.67 trillion and will remain above $1 trillion every year over the next decade, reflecting his ambitious plans to boost spending on infrastructure and American families.

The annual federal deficit first topped $1 trillion in 2009 and remained above that level for four years as a deep recession triggered by the 2008 financial crisis depressed tax revenues and led to increased government spending to fight the downturn.

The deficit in May totaled $132 billion, compared to a deficit in May 2020 of $398.8 billion that heavy spending on the initial pandemic relief programs and the delay of the tax deadline.

-Great Cultural Revolution
Yoga Instructor and 'Body Activist' Jessamyn Stanley Says White Supremacy has Polluted Yoga
[THEGATEWAYPUNDIT] Jessamyn Stanley needs you to know what yoga is really about — and it’s not the poses.

In her new book Yoke: My Yoga of Self-Acceptance, the yoga instructor and body activist shares reflective personal essays that touch upon everything from racism to the cultural appropriation of American yoga, from consumerism to cannabis.

And while the timing couldn’t be better considering the current cultural climate, the idea for the book came to her years ago while she was writing her first book, Every Body Yoga, a guide to developing a yoga practice.

"I realized yoga is a lot more than postures," she tells PEOPLE. "The postures get to be more complicated, not because you’re practicing harder gymnastics or physical postures, but because you’re practicing emotional and mental and really spiritual postures."...

...The book explores the existence of white supremacy
...the pernicious doctrine that laws were intended to be obeyed, that society works better when people don't pour shreiking from their places of worship every Friday for a weekend of rioting over insults real or imagined; and that cannibalism, beastiality, incest, murder, theft, rape, and similar activities are bad. A Dead White European (which invalidates his opinion) philosopher once opined that societies thrive when a person's word can be relied upon, and that a society which puts individual happiness first will invariably fail. Strangely enough, other successful societies, such as China, Japan, Korea, and those kinds of places could also be lumped with white supremacist societies, since they push the same values...
and cultural appropriation in American yoga.
Yoga is a religious meditation exercise in Indian subcontinent. Any American who is not of Indian subcontinent descent could be said to be engaging in cultural appropriation, including Ms Stanley.
"I would venture to say that everything in our collective society is rooted in white supremacy. I am sure there are many people who would disagree with that, and honestly I don’t care because I believe that and I know it’s the case," she says.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Book Review - By Gaslight: A Novel
In which M. Murcek shares another happy discovery.
Some writers have only one good book in them. Some have several books but only one is good. A hard situation for the reader is when you finish a book that’s so good you want more, but you already know that’s not happening.

Steven Price’s By Gaslight: A Novel is that sort of book. A fictional account of detective agency scion William Pinkerton chasing a ghost that haunted his father across the Civil War to Victorian London, the book had me making a side trip to study the crime argot of the era. That was painful only because the book was hard to put down.

Books that force us to expand our knowledge of other times and places are always a good thing for the serious reader. Characterization, pacing, details that make the scenes very real are all in abundance. Sorting his father Allen’s papers after his death, William discovers the founder of modern detection’s bete noir, the shadowy criminal Edward Shade. Unsettled by the peculiar lengths his father employed trying to track down Shade, William travels to London following the few and meager clues he has. The story shifts back and forth from the Civil War to the Victorian era and it becomes clear that William’s past is enmeshed with Shade’s, though neither know it. Shade, like all members of "the flash," the criminal underworld of the Victorian era, only wants to survive.

William’s hunt unconsciously morphs from a search for Shade to a search for the parts of his father that he doesn’t understand. With a strained association to Scotland Yard, William becomes involved in London society high and low. The tension and camaraderie with his British counterparts is one of the best flavors of the story. As William notes inconsistencies in the clues he gathers, the story seems it will have no resolution. Then, like all the best crime novels, the case is solved like a thunderclap. Only the best writers finish out a story with a coda that isn’t necessarily part of the bigger story, but, like stretching and walking it off after a run, it leaves the reader winded but not in distress. Price does this as only the best can.

Steven Price is a Canadian poet. I’ve not gotten to his poetry, but I will. His other novel is Into That Darkness, a sci-fi story that’s extremely different from By Gaslight. It’s not available as an ebook so I haven’t read it but I’ll be looking for a used dead tree copy soon.
