Given the real Iranian leadership's lies, Nuke enrichment violations, and openly spoken contrary intended actions by them. Maybe the Iranian President should just admit he's a figure-head w/o any power.
[CBSnews] Vance Boelter, the man who authorities believe shot two Minnesota politicians and their spouses in politically motivated shootings early Saturday morning, is now in jug.
Multiple sources told WCCO on Sunday evening that Boelter, 57, was taken into custody near his home in Green Isle, Sibley County.
Shortly before 10 p.m., the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office posted a picture on social media that appears to show Boelter being taken into custody.
"The face of evil," the sheriff's office wrote. "After relentless and determined police work, the killer is now in jug. Thanks to the dedication of multiple agencies working together along with support from the community, justice is one step closer."
Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark were shot and killed in their Brooklyn Park home while state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife Yvette were shot in their home in Champlin. The Hoffmans are out of surgery and receiving care.
The manhunt for Boelter lasted over 24 hours, as authorities issued shelter-in-place orders for parts of the northwest metro.
"I'm grateful that this nightmare has come to an end with the suspected murderer captured alive so he can be charged, prosecuted, and punished for the horror he has wrought on our state," said Speaker Lisa Demuth (R-Cold Spring) in a statement. "Thank you to the brave men and women of local, state, and federal law enforcement who have worked around the clock to ensure this evil man faces justice."
Officials said Brooklyn Park police arrived at Hortman's home around 3:30 a.m. and found a car that looked like a police SUV with emergency lights on. Boelter then left the home and exchanged gunfire with coppers before fleeing.
In a presser, officials said he was last seen in Minneapolis, wearing a light-colored cowboy hat and a dark shirt with light pants. Officials said he should be considered "armed and dangerous."
Gov. Tim Walz ...Kamala's smarmy-looking VP running mate, governor of Minnesota and self-admitted knucklehead, who decided to retire rather than to deploy with his National Guard unit, then claimed to have been in Iraq and Afghanistan. One man's socialism is another man's neighborliness.... called Hortman's death a "political liquidation" and ordered flags to fly at half staff to honor her and her husband. Hortman, who served as the Speaker Emerita of the Minnesota House, leaves behind two children.
[MAIL] Pakistan has threatened to drop a nuclear warhead on Israel if Benjamin Netanyahu uses nuclear weapons against Iran, according to a top Iranian officer. according to a top Iranian officer...Paks say: "Are you F'n stoopid? Don't drag us into your demise"
General Mohsen Rezaee, a senior officer in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and a member of Iran's National Security Council, said in an interview: 'Pakistan has assured us that if Israel uses a nuclear bomb on Iran, they will attack Israel with a nuclear bomb.'
Pakistan and Israel are two of the nine countries that currently possess nuclear weapons, according to experts.
[ZeroHedge] Despite Israel and Iran volleying missiles and bombs at one another over the weekend, Brent crude futures showed a surprisingly muted reaction Monday morning, initially gapping higher Sunday evening but flat to down.
Goldman Sachs analyst Ananya Prakash added color about the market's restrained response, telling clients the "situation feels relatively contained" for now, with attention centered on potential supply disruptions—particularly the extreme scenario of Iran moving to close the Strait of Hormuz.
Bloomberg reports a surge in GPS jamming around the Strait of Hormuz, scrambling navigation for more than 900 vessels and hinting at a new form of disruption for the world's most critical maritime chokepoint.
Here's more from the report:
Starboard Maritime Intelligence and Bloomberg data showed vessels sailing impossibly straight lines in the region, zig- zagging across the water, or appearing onshore. The glitches — which have affected oil tankers, cargo ships, tugs and fishing boats among others since Friday — increase reliance on radars, compasses and eyesight, boosting the likelihood of collisions.
The Joint Maritime Information Center, an international naval task force monitoring the area, warned on Sunday that there are instances of "extreme jamming" of signals from the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas.
GPSJam—a site that publishes daily heat maps of GPS/GNSS disruptions affecting aircraft—shows multiple "high-interference" zones clustered around the Strait of Hormuz.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations said on Monday it had received multiple reports of increasing GPS interference in maritime chokepoint:
UKMTO has received multiple reports and monitoring of AIS confirms, that there is increasing electronic interference within the waters of the Gulf and Straits of Hormuz. Whilst the level of electronic interference continues to rise across the wider region, the levels and intensity inside the Gulf are having a significant impact on vessels positional reporting through automated systems (AIS).
Despite reports of "high" GPS jamming across parts of the maritime chokepoint, there are currently no signs of an imminent Iranian blockade. However, any move to choke off the strait, which handles roughly a quarter of global oil trade, would likely send Brent crude futures soaring into triple-digit territory.
However, a separate Bloomberg report found some oil tanker operators and managers have paused offering their vessels for Middle East routes since Friday to let the dust settle.
JPMorgan commodity analyst Natasha Kaneva issued a warning over the weekend, stating that the odds increased of a "worst-case scenario" —defined as "the oil price reaction turning exponential rather than linear, with the impact on supply potentially extending beyond a 2.1 mb/d reduction in Iranian oil exports"—could push prices as high as $120–$130 per barrel.
"Paint the paint with more paint!"
[ZeroHedge] Friday the 13th was an apropos date for the Pentagon to take the next step forward on its march leading the United States further down a path toward becoming a technocratic hellscape. The US Army swore in 4 different executives from major technology companies as part of its newly established Detachment 201: The Executive Innovation Corps. The executives sworn in as lieutenant colonels in the US Army Reserve were Shyam Sankar, Palantir Technologies' chief technology officer; Andrew Bosworth, chief technology officer of Mark Zuckerberg's Meta; Kevin Weil, OpenAI’s chief product officer; and Bob McGrew, an advisor at Thinking Machines Lab, who previously served as the former chief research officer for OpenAI. The mission of Detachment 201 is to accelerate the modernization of military technology by embedding senior tech executives into the military as uniformed officers. However, the ties those executives have amplify concerns about the exponential growth of technocratic influence over the US government.
The assimilation of AI-driven technology executives into the army's ranks from companies like Palantir operates under the guise of improving efficiencies within the Pentagon that will aid in Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth's mission to reduce the wasteful spending of a Department of Defense that paradoxically announced its intent to garner the world's first $1 trillion military budget in April. That enormous budget was confirmed by President Donald J. Trump in April during his most recent meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House. The announcement of that unprecedented spending target foreshadowed a new vision for the US military that the companies behind the executives enlisted as part of Detachment 201 are poised shape in their image.
Just 3 weeks after the budget target was made public by the White House, Army Secretary Dan Driscoll announced the launch of the Army Transformation Initiative. The memo unveiling the Army Transformation Initiative in May declared sweeping changes ahead for the army's command structure en route to a modernization pathway carved out to transform the foundational branch of the US military. In the memo, Secretary Hegseth wrote that he was tasking Army Secretary Driscoll to "implement a comprehensive transformation strategy, streamline its force structure, eliminate wasteful spending, reform acquisition, modernize inefficient defense contracts, and overcome parochial interests to rebuild our Army, restore the warrior ethos and reestablish deterrence." Detachment 201 is envisioned as a major force toward achieving those lofty expectations.
In the last 14 years, Palantir Technologies has laid the foundation leading to the implementation of the Executive Innovation Corps. Palatir has entrenched itself within the Department of Defense, culminating in a massive $795 million modification by the Trump administration to an existing contract it was initially awarded in May 2024 under the Biden administration. That contract modification brings its total value to nearly $1.3 billion, demonstrating the immense role Palantir will play in the modernization of the military by using its AI-driven technologies. The presence Palantir fortified by becoming a massive defense contractor over the last decade-and-a-half enabled the company to exert its influence, ultimately bringing companies aligned with its work into the fold.
Palantir is far from the only Peter Thiel-backed technology company to profit from the Department of Defense's efforts at military modernization. OpenAI and Meta, whose executives were also enlisted into Detachment 201, have shifted their own operations to focus on military applications to become part of this futuristic new era of the military industrial complex. OpenAI has partnered with Anduril Industries, Inc. (another Thiel-connected AI firm whose name is a reference to lore from J.R.R. Tolkein's the Lord of the Rings) to develop AI-enhanced air defense systems in one such project.
Anduril was co-founded by Palmer Luckey, the brother-in-law of former Florida congressional representative Matt Gaetz, along with former Palantri executives Matt Grimm, Trae Stephens, and Brian Schimpf in 2017 after Luckey was fired from Facebook earlier in the year. Luckey joined the company by way of founding Oculus VR in 2012 which Facebook acquired in 2014 for $2 billion. Although Anduril Industries maintains a much less visible public image compared to the like of Palantir, OpenAI, and Meta, its rapid growth since its founding has made it central to the axis those companies have formed.
In the early years following its founding, Anduril was awarded billions of dollars in contracts from the Department of Defense. Those contracts included a contract worth $967 million for the Advanced Battle Management Systems for the US Air Force awarded in September 2020, as well as a subsequent $1 billion contract in February 2022 to develop counter-unmanned systems for United States Special Operations Command. By the end of 2022, the growth fueled by its billions of dollars in military contracts from the DoD was accelerated by the injection of another $1.5 billion in capital from Valor Equity Partners. That investment raised the valuation of the company to $8.5 billion, cementing its stake as a major force in the future AI and its applications on US military technologies.
Evidence of the company's standing as a cornerstone of the new axis of mainstay US military contractors was further demonstrated in May following the decision of the army to reassign a $22 billion augmented reality contract from Microsoft to Anduril. That massive contract led to Anduril forming a partnership with Meta to fulfill the contract it was able to usurp from Microsoft. Anduril building its partnership with Meta also aided the rapid rebrand of the Mark Zuckerberg-founded company, which was previously viewed as an embodiment of big tech's malfeasance aiding the subjugation of the first presidential administration of Donald J. Trump, into a company now central to achieving the vision for the next epoch of the US military ushered in by the president's second administration.
That vision carries ominous undertones suggesting that the nightmarish reality unleashed by a technocratic takeover of the US military has become an inevitability. The realization of those fears was made evident following Anduril's announcement of its partnership with Meta. Following the $22 billion contract transfer from Microsoft into its hands, Anduril co-founder Palmer Luckey stated, “My mission has long been to turn warfighters into technomancers." Anduril and Meta aim to achieve that mission by harnessing the technology behind the VR headsets pioneered by Oculus, which led to Luckey's first work with Zuckerberg, and transforming it to used for advanced military applications. This venture will be done under a product offering named EagleEye, the flagship technology Meta and Anduril will build an ecosystem of militarized virtual and augmented reality devices around.
The mission declared by Palmer Luckey to blur the line between humans and machines on the battlefield by implementing Ai-powered military technologies has been taken on even more enthusiastically by one of the other companies to have an executive enlisted in Detachment 201. Thinking Machines Lab, which was established in just February 2025, focuses its operations on human-AI collaboration. The company was founded by Mira Murati, who previously served as the chief technology officer of OpenAI. After only 3 months in business, Thinking Machines Lab was reported to have a valuation of $10 billion, making it one of the most valuable startups in the world. Despite being in its nascent days, the potential impact of the company's work on advancing US military technology has already thrust it into the echelon held by its world-renowned partners in the Executive Innovation Program: Palantir, Meta, and OpenAI.
Of all the innovations the companies aligned with the Executive Innovation Corps aim to build, the vanguard of the new age of US military technology that the Trump administration has boasted about its aspirations to achieve is that of a rival to Israel's Iron Dome. Trump has named the US equivalent of Israel's defense system the Golden Dome. With an estimated price tag of $175 billion, $25 billion of which is built into the contentious Big Beautiful Bill, the Trump administration hopes to have the Golden Dome fully operational before he leaves office in 2029. Those expectations have faced tremendous opposition as the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has estimated components of the Golden Dome alone could cost taxpayers $542 billion over 20 years, with the full cost of the program reaching as much as $831 billion. The Trump administration hopes that the advancements in technology brought to the project by the likes of Anduril, Palantir, and Elon Musk's SpaceX will lead to the project being completed within that short timeframe at a cost falling far below the CBO's projections.
In the collapsing big blue Democrat cities where the left has revealed its true nature, there are two lasting images from their riots:
That anarchist crouching at the curb in Los Angeles drawing the hammer from his backpack, breaking the curb into chunks for throwing at police and law enforcement officers upholding federal law to deport some of the 20 million illegal aliens allowed to cross the border into the U.S. by the corrupt Biden regime.
The last time I saw the hammer thing, it was Greek communists hammering away at the marble steps of the great hotels of Athens, to throw their deadly jagged missiles at cops, the deadly missiles flying at me and photographer Chris Walker, the rocks coming at us out of the clouds of tear gas overhead as we walked through Constitution Square, where my father fought the Communists decades before.
And back to the images from LA, I cannot unsee the illegal migrant lighting Molotov cocktails to throw at Los Angeles law enforcement officers.
All the while as left-wing corporate media (CNN, MSNBC, Chicago Tribune, etc.) the coms shop for the Democtrat Party, the media blaming the violence not at the angry Jacobins bent on destruction, but at President Trump for federalizing the California National Guard to protect federal immigration officers trying to do their duty by enforcing law already passed by Congress.
The riots in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and other cities across the country have been set by Democrats and their financial backers to impede federal authorities from arresting and legally deporting some 20 million illegal aliens released into the U.S. through Democrat Open Borders policy. Some of the illegal aliens are dangerous criminal offenders, including the worst-of-the-worst murderers, rapists, and child-sex traffickers.

[FoxNews] A G7 official said the leaders plan to issue a joint statement calling for de-escalation in the conflict between Israel and Iran.
The quickest, most thorough way to deescalate is for the losing party to lay down arms and surrender — pssst, Hamas: that goes for you, too, aswell as the Hothisand Hezbollah…
Group of Seven leaders are meeting in Canada, with issues such as the Israel-Iran conflict and U.S. tariffs high on the agenda, while nations hope to avoid clashes with U.S. President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly threatened to annex the host nation.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said his priorities are strengthening peace and security, building critical mineral supply chains and creating jobs. But Trump's tariffs on countries around the world and the conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine are expected to receive heavy attention during the summit.
Israel and Iran launched new attacks on each other overnight into Monday, raising the death toll in the conflict that began with an Israeli offensive on Friday.
A G7 official said the leaders plan to issue a joint statement calling for de-escalation in the conflict.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz told reporters his goals for the summit include for Iran to not obtain nuclear weapons, ensuring Israel's right to defend itself, avoiding escalation of the conflict and creating room for diplomacy.
"This issue will be very high on the agenda of the G7 summit," Merz said.
Iran has maintained that its nuclear program is peaceful, and U.S. intelligence agencies and the International Atomic Energy Agency have said Iran was not pursuing a nuclear weapon.
The last time Canada hosted the summit in 2018, Trump left before denouncing then-Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as "very dishonest and weak" and instructing the U.S. delegation who stayed behind to withdraw its approval of the final statement endorsed by the leaders of Japan, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany and Canada.
"I have instructed our U.S. Reps not to endorse the Communiqué as we look at Tariffs on automobiles flooding the U.S. Market!" Trump posted on X, which at the time was still known as Twitter.
The notable image from that summit was of Trump seated with his arms folded defiantly as then-German Chancellor Angela Merkel stared daggers at him.
See image here. I guess that shot is not planned for this round…
This time, Trump's severe tariffs on many nations risk a global economic slowdown and the conflicts in Ukraine, Gaza and now between Israel and Iran do not see an end in sight.
Other issues impacting world leaders include immigration, drug trafficking and new technologies such as artificial intelligence.
Diplomats said Canada ditched the idea of a traditional comprehensive joint communiqué and would issue chair summaries instead in an attempt to avoid a diplomatic disaster and maintain engagement with the U.S.
A senior Canadian official told reporters that Ottawa wanted to focus on actions the seven members — Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the U.S. — could take together.
Asked as he was leaving the White House on Sunday if he planned to reveal any trade agreements at the summit, Trump said: "We have our trade deals. All we have to do is send a letter, 'This is what you’re going to have to pay.' But I think we'll have a few, few new trade deals."
The U.K. reached a trade framework with the U.S. that included quotas to protect against some tariffs, but the 10% baseline would remain.
A senior U.S. official said on Friday that working discussions would cover trade and the global economy, critical minerals, migrant and drug smuggling, wildfires, international security, artificial intelligence and energy security.
"The president is eager to pursue his goals in all of these areas, including making America's trade relationships fair and reciprocal," the official said.
Trump will have at least three scheduled bilateral meetings during the summit with other world leaders, including with Carney, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Even accepting Paleo counting that's still only one fourth of literally decimating the Gaza population.
[GEO.TV] Israeli fire and airstrikes killed at least 41 Palestinians across Gaza on Sunday, local health authorities said, at least five of them near two aid sites operated by the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF).
Medics at Al-Awda Hospital in the central Gaza Strip said at least three people were killed and dozens wounded by Israeli fire as they tried to approach a GHF site near the Netzarim corridor. Two others were killed en route to another aid site in Rafah in the south.

[ZeroHedge] Zelensky fired off over a dozen paragraphs in his latest tweetstorm on Saturday afternoon that can be read in full here.
He demanded the imposition of more sanctions against Russia’s banking and energy sectors, complained about the “warm” tone of the US-Russian dialogue, expressed worries about reduced aid, fearmongered about Russia’s military-industrial complex, and pushed back against claims that he’s oppressing Russians, Russian speakers, and Russian Orthodox Christians. He’s clearly panicking.

[JustTheNews] “This isn’t environmentalism—it’s economic warfare. The Chinese Communist Party is using American nonprofits to make us dependent on their supply chains, from solar panels to EV batteries, while our policymakers walk straight into the trap," said Michael Lucci, CEO of State Armor, which produced the report.
A national-security watchdog group is asking members of Congress to take a closer look at an energy transition advocacy nonprofit that has ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). According to State Armor, the watchdog group, nonprofits are coordinating with U.S. climate groups to influence climate policy, advance the interests of the CCP and undermine U.S. national security.
A new report by State Armor argues that the CCP is co-opting the American progressive climate change lobby to advance a transition away from fossil fuels. The alternative technologies being pushed by this lobby, according to the report, create significant economic and geopolitical advantages by undermining U.S. energy dominance and leaving it dependent on Chinese supply chains for its energy production.
“It creates a dependence on our side and deprives us of a natural strength, which is our energy independence that comes from other resources,” Michael Lucci, CEO of State Armor, told Just the News. State Armor is a non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for state solutions to global security threats.
BROAD APPROACH TO POLITICAL WARFARE
Besides the dependency on China for energy supply chains, the U.S. may be vulnerable as a result of malicious actions. The State Armor report notes recent Reuters reports, — based on anonymous sources — that rogue communication devices were installed in solar panels coming out of China.
“So why would that be there? It's just there. So Beijing could shut things off over here,” Lucci said.
The report focuses on Energy Foundation China and documents the group’s ties to climate advocacy groups in the U.S. that are influencing climate policy. Energy China describes itself as a 501(3) non-profit which says its mission is "by facilitating exchanges with and providing grants to policy research groups, industry associations, academic institutions, and non-governmental organizations committed to sustainable energy development and the energy transition."
According to the report, Energy Foundation China has ties to the Chinese government and coordinates with the CCP. It purportedly embedded itself in American universities and supported an event in 2023 in which California Gov. Gavin Newsom visited China. Lucci said the group functions as a central node that’s part of a larger network.
“A key concept with China is what’s called a united front. This is their broad approach to political warfare. It's Leninist. It's actually directly out of Lenin where they get it. It's a communist approach to political warfare. And they stand up central nodes or central institutions like EFC, and then around that they try to just build any allies they can that are aligned with a communist vision or China's vision, and to attack or to delegitimize those who stand against the party's interest — the party's interest on energy, in this case,” Lucci explained.
The Energy Foundation did not respond to requests for comment from Just the News about the report or its allegations.
BUILDING ALLIES IN THE UNITED STATES
Energy Foundation China is a non-profit headquartered in San Francisco. It was originally known as the Energy Foundation, but it spun off most of its U.S.-based operations in 2019 into a separate organization called the U.S. Energy Foundation. The State Armor report documents numerous examples in which The Energy Foundation provided financial support to U.S. climate groups advocating for climate policies.
In 2023, Energy Foundation China reported $84 million in revenues. According to the nonprofit’s website, it’s funded by a number of U.S. anti-fossil fuel groups, including the ClimateWorks Foundation, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, and the Climate Imperative Foundation. Hewlett and MacArthur are key contributors, according to the report, to the Collective Action Fund, which Fox News reported in 2022 was part of a dark money network supporting climate litigation against petroleum companies.
In 2022, The Energy Foundation granted $350,000 to the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI). Throughout the years, according to Fox News, the foundation granted the RMI $900,000.
The Rocky Mountain Institute produced a study in 2023 claiming to find a link between gas stoves and asthma, which was often cited by policymakers and activists seeking restrictions on natural gas use. The RMI researchers used data from past studies to estimate rates of childhood asthma linked to exposure to gas stoves. The study has been criticized for failing to factor into its data a more comprehensive global study published in 2013 by the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood, which utilized data from 512,000 children in 47 different countries and found no evidence of any association between the use of gas stoves and asthma.
Citing the Energy Foundation’s 2022 and 2023 tax documents, the report shows that the group also gave millions to the International Council on Clean Transportation, which was an active supporter of incentives in the Inflation Reduction Act to transition U.S. trucking from diesel-power semi trucks to electric ones.
The Energy Foundation also provides large grants to support climate policy research at American universities, including the University of California-Berkley, University of California-Los Angeles, Harvard, and the University of Maryland.
TIES TO THE CHINESE COMMUNIST PARTY
Though organized as an American nonprofit, The Energy Foundation, according to the report, is led by individuals with direct ties to the CCP. The organization’s CEO, Zou Ji, previously served as the deputy director general of China’s National Center for Climate Change Strategy, an agency within the Chinese government’s National Development and Reform Commission. The Energy Foundation’s environmental program director, Xin Liu, served in a leadership role at the Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau.
David Vance Wagner, vice president of strategic partnerships for The Energy Foundation, was the China counselor in the Office of the Special Envoy for Climate Change from 2014 to 2017. Wagner was also employed by China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection, according to his biography on the Energy Foundation website, where he was the “first and only foreigner at China’s national vehicle emission policy research center under the Ministry of Environmental Protection.” He received his master’s degree from China's state-run Tsinghua University in Beijing.
According to the State Armor report, the Energy Foundation has coordinated extensively with the CCP. The CCP’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) oversees the group’s operations in China. The NDRC enforces compliance with Chinese regulations and cracks down on foreign investments in Chinese sectors considered important for the country’s national security.
Lucci said the Chinese government’s involvement in U.S. climate policy stems from a concern over China’s own energy supplies. Much of its oil and gas comes from the Middle East, which leaves the supply vulnerable to U.S. naval blockades. They are diversifying their energy portfolio to help address that risk, with increased wind, solar, hydroelectric, nuclear and coal.
Referring to the Chinese government, he continued, “They'll do anything to, just from a security perspective, remove the United States ability to intercept their energy resources, their energy supplies.” That would include getting the U.S. to be more dependent on Chinese green energy supply chains. q
[BBC] MI6 will be led by a woman for the first time in the foreign intelligence service's 116-year history.
Blaise Metreweli, who joined the Secret Intelligence Service in 1999, will become the 18th chief of the organisation and take over from Sir Richard Moore later this year.
She is currently responsible for technology and innovation at the service and said she was "proud and honoured" to have been asked to lead.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer called the appointment "historic" at a time "when the work of our intelligence services has never been more vital".
MI6 is tasked with gathering intelligence overseas to improve the UK's security, with its core aims being to stop terrorism, disrupt the activities of hostile states and bolster cyber-security.
Its chief, commonly referred to as "C", is the only publicly named member of the service.
Ms Metreweli, 47, is currently Director General "Q" - head of the crucial technology and innovation division that aims to keep the identities of secret agents secret, and come up with new ways to evade adversaries like China's biometric surveillance.
"MI6 plays a vital role - with MI5 and GCHQ - in keeping the British people safe and promoting UK interests overseas," she said.
"I look forward to continuing that work alongside the brave officers and agents of MI6 and our many international partners."
Ms Metreweli, who studied anthropology at the University of Cambridge, has previously held director level roles in MI5 - MI6's sister, domestic security agency - and spent most of her career working in the Middle East and Europe.
On the King's overseas and international birthday honours list in 2024, she received the Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) for her services to British foreign policy.
Speaking to the Telegraph in December 2021 when she was at MI5, under the pseudonym of "Director K", Ms Metreweli said threats to UK national security "really are diverse".
"The threats we are looking at primarily exist around protecting government, protecting secrets, protecting our people - so counter-assassination - protecting our economy, sensitive technology and critical knowledge," she said.
She added that "Russian state activity - not Russia itself - remains a threat" and that China was "changing the way the world is and that presents amazing opportunities and threats for the UK".

[Breitbart] Illegal immigration is fuelling the ballooning black market economy in Britain, which now stands at over a quarter of a trillion pounds sterling per year, a report has found.
According to an upcoming report from the independent National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) organisation, the number of people involved in the black market economy has grown by 80 per cent since 2016. The report found that as many as one in ten adults in Britain are connected to the underground economy.
The Sun on Sunday newspaper reported that NatCen claimed that this has resulted in the black market expanding to a staggering £260 billion industry, enabling delinquent businesses to avoid around £2.2 billion in tax every year. The social research organisation specifically pointed to the illegal migrant crisis in recent years as a top contributor to the burgeoning black market.
Previously, French prosecutor Pascal Marconville claimed that people smuggling networks operating on both sides of the English Channel often trade passage to impoverished illegals in exchange for them signing up to work in the underground economy in Britain, such as in cannabis farms, laundrettes, or restaurants to pay the debt incurred for gaining access to their small boat network.
Illegal migration has also been tied to the fast fashion industry, with thousands of modern slaves working in sweatshops in multicultural cities like Leicester, according to a 2020 report from the Centre for Social Justice.
Though British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer campaigned in last year’s general election on a pledge to “smash” the people smuggling gangs behind the illegal boat migrant crisis, the number of illegals successfully reaching UK shores from the beaches of France have continued to grow, hitting a record high for this time of year of over 16,000 since January.
The report comes as the governing left-wing Labour Party has come under criticism after Treasury minister Darren Jones claimed that the majority of illegal migrants crossing the Channel are “children, babies and women”. This was contradicted by the government’s own figures, which found that last year over seven in ten illegal boat migrants were males, or 26,999 out of all 36,816 illicit arrivals.
Commenting on the report, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage told The Sun on Sunday: “The British people are being taken for fools again. We already know that our borders are in chaos. But, thanks to successive Labour and Tory governments, those arriving then go on to work illegally on the £260 billion black market economy.”
“And all the while we pay for their accommodation. Nearly 40,000 boat migrants have arrived since Labour came to power — and numbers are up 40 per cent on this time last year. How many of these already work on the black market without paying tax? Labour has long championed the mantra of British jobs for British workers. But brickies and builders are being undercut by illegal labour.
Britain is in social and economic decline. The social contract is stretched to its limits. People that pay their taxes and play by the rules increasingly feel shafted.Yes, these migrants may be victims of exploitation — but they are also part of the criminal economy. Unscrupulous bosses are laughing all the way to the bank while British workers get priced out again.”
Mr Farage said that the only means of solving the crisis would be to immediately deport anyone who enters the country illegally and to leave the deportation-blocking European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and its associated court in Strasbourg, which Britain is still a member of despite Brexit as it is technically a separate institution from the EU.
The Reform boss remarked: “Keir Starmer’s soft touch is laughable. He promised to smash the gangs — but all he has smashed are illegal immigration records.”

[Breitbart] The anti-Trump “No Kings” protest held on the grounds of the Texas Capitol continued long after the scheduled close as hundreds of protesters took to the streets of Austin. The protesters, some wearing dark clothing, helmets, face coverings, and gas masks, blocked traffic, taunted police, overturned garbage receptacles, and moved barricades into the downtown streets until finally being dispersed by authorities several hours later.
Several protesters were arrested after the large crowd refused to obey orders to remain out of the streets and to disperse after authorities deemed the protest to be an unlawful assembly late in the evening near 8th Street and Colorado Avenue. Protesters at one point were cornered by authorities after ignoring numerous warnings to stay off the downtown streets, but managed to break through a line of officers and continue marching in the streets.
Authorities dispersed tear gas on several street corners after the crowd attempted to rush police lines set up to contain the protesters. Breitbart Texas observed two arrests shortly before the crowd finally dispersed at around 11:00 p.m. Law enforcement officers endured hours of vulgar taunts by the crowd at each downtown intersection where the officers were stationed to contain the demonstrators.
As reported by Breitbart Texas, earlier in the day, the group of protesters gathered on the grounds of the Texas Capitol as speakers urged attendees to resist the Trump administration and fight back against “The King.” U.S. Congressman Lloyd Doggett at one point addressed the crowd, calling them “Patriots, who will never bow down to a King,” going on to refer to President Trump as a tyrant in front of one protester proudly waving a sign that read, “8647.”

[Korrespondent] Analysts confirm fortifications on the border of Donetsk and Dnepropetrovsk regions.
Despite many rumors about the lack of protection, after critical problems with the IFS in the Kharkiv region, the Dnipropetrovsk region approached this issue responsibly.
OSINT project DeepState assessed the state of engineering and fortification structures on the administrative border of the Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions. The analysts reported the results of the assessment in Telegram on Sunday, June 15.
"There are many discussions and debates online about the preparation of defense in the Dnipropetrovsk region, which the enemy has come close to. A minority dares to say that the IFS are present, but the majority still continues to complain about the poor preparation to which everyone has become accustomed... In conversations with fighters, we saw and knew that the IFS on the administrative border are being prepared, quite well, but we did not know the scale. We chose the most reliable way - to go and see for ourselves. So are the IFS being built on the administrative border of the Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions? Yes," the message noted.
Analysts have published coordinated photographs of fortifications on the second of the three lines of defense - both completed and those still under construction. Some of the structures are underground.
According to DeepState, Western partners are also involved in the process for consultations and the transfer of experience, and in the process they themselves adopt certain combat experience and consult on the construction of defense.
"After the critical problems with the IFS in the Kharkiv region, which we began to talk about and publish, society reacted violently to such irresponsibility. The problems of building defense began to be discussed more and more on the Internet, and quite rightly, questions and calls for preparing the IFS in the Dnipropetrovsk region, taking into account the enemy's approach to it, were often heard. And as practice shows, it worked," the project emphasized.
According to DeepState maps, as a result of advances in the Donetsk region, Russian troops have come close to the administrative border of the Dnipropetrovsk region and in the area of the villages of Zelenyi Kut (near the administrative border with the Zaporizhia region) and Kotlyarovka (to the northeast) are located at a distance of about 1 km from it, and the "gray zone" in some places has come very close to the administrative border.
Let us recall that due to the difficult security situation in the Dnepropetrovsk region, the authorities introduced a second wave of forced evacuation from the Sinelnykovsky district.
Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin:
[ColonelCassad] The Advanced and Intelligent Materials Building was heavily damaged. This building housed all the electron microscopy labs, advanced analytical labs, and research labs in various fields of chemistry. The building has several underground floors. The building was completed in 2023.
There were casualties in the nighttime attack on the Weizmann Institute in Tel Aviv.
Israeli journalist Alex Rif wrote:
I just finished talking to a researcher at the Weizmann Institute whose lab collapsed under the weight of the destruction. He says that entire labs were wiped off the face of the earth: instruments, equipment, the results of years of pioneering research, and even the people who spent their lives in these halls - all disappeared.
Among these labs was the lab of Professor Valery Krizhnovsky, who for many years researched the secrets of biological processes associated with aging. No one from the government responded: not from the tax office, not from the Ministry of Education, not from the Ministry of Science.
This is about empty buildings where there is no one. And so it is in many cases. It's just that the IDF is keeping the results of such flights as secret as possible in order to maintain the image of an unconditional victory. This is normal for information and psychological warfare.
Well, Iran has gotten to some Israeli scientists after all. As Israel likes to claim, these were legitimate military targets.
At the moment, the exchange of strikes continues. In the last few hours, there have been flights in Tehran, Tabriz, Isfahan, Tel Aviv, Haifa, Ashdon and Ashkelon. The Iranians are announcing a strike on the center of Tel Aviv in the near future.

We'll learn in the future that Mossad and the IDF had Khamenei 'dead to right' in Lavasan, but was held back by Trump, with the B2s sitting on Diego Garcia! Trump 'vacillating' again until Iran kills an American.
…This comes after recent strikes have rattled nerves and sparked a wave of fear across the country.

Translation? Tehran wants to turn regional chaos into coalition power.
Problem is: Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan aren’t exactly eager to wear Iran’s uniform.
But if even one says yes, the entire regional order shifts overnight.

So let me see if I understand the process.
Iran funds Terrorist groups to attack Israel and other NON-Muslim countries.
These Iranian sponsored groups, attack, killing 1,000's each year at their command or following Iranian Islamic agenda.
Growing bolder, one of their sponsored terrorist groups conducted a massive Terrorist attack on Israel civilians. In the process, taking scores of hostages, from the ages of children to Sr. Adults.
The Iranian funded and directed/steered Terrorists (Hamas) proceed to torture, rape and mutilate the taken hostages, including yes raping the children.
Israel attempts to deal with the terrorists, only be played at every point.
Iran steps-up the threat process to now include funding Pro-Hamas violent demonstrations in the EU & USA.
Now having announced Nuke threats at the highest levels, and restarting Nuke Weapon development. All in violation (again) of a number of previous NO NUKE weapons deals. Deals worked out and PLANE LOADS of $$$$$$$$$ sent to Iran. $$$$$ used likely to fund more terrorist attacks.
So Israel, & USA say, enough is enough and hand Iran its A$$.
Having now shown itself to be all mouth and little muscle, Iran quickly begs for help from countries & their leaders that it has undermined in years past.
I suspect a Regime change might be in the making.
As we have seen the Iranian people aren't that happen with current Islamic fanatical middle-ages based dictatorship in power.

"About 60 surface-to-surface missiles and dozens of drones were launched overnight. They were fired directly from Iranian and Yemeni territory towards cities and towns in the Israeli rear," Defrin said.
He added that since the start of hostilities, Israeli troops have attacked over 720 military installations and hit more than 170 targets.

[Korrespondent] The Ukrainian Armed Forces are repelling attacks in 12 directions.
The most active fighting continues in the Pokrovsk direction. There, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 27 Russian attacks in the areas of 10 populated areas.
Since the beginning of the day, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have repelled 86 Russian assaults on the front. The Russian army is most active in the Pokrovsk, Novopavlovsk and Kursk directions. This was reported in the General Staff report on Sunday, June 15.
Today, the communities of the settlements of Velyka Pisarevka, Tur'ya, Vysokoye, Prokhody, Belaya Bereza, Sosnovka, Bruski, Pokrovka in Sumy Oblast; Mkhi, Khrenovka in Chernihiv Oblast; Timofeevka in Kharkov Oblast suffered from enemy artillery and mortar fire. One enemy attack was repelled by Ukrainian units in the Kharkov direction, in the Vovchansk area, and another military clash is currently ongoing near the settlement of Staritsa.
In the Kupyansk direction, the Ukrainians repelled five assaults towards Petropavlovka, Golubovka and Novaya Kruglyakovka.
In the Liman direction, during the day the invading army carried out five attacks on the positions of our troops near Novoegorovka, Lipovoye and in the directions of Shandrigolovoe, Torskoye and Grigoryevka.
The occupying forces are looking for weak spots in our defenses near Grigoryevka in the Seversky direction, where our units successfully repelled two enemy attacks.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the occupiers tried six times to advance forward on Ukrainian positions in the areas of Chasovy Yar, Belaya Gora, Predtechnoye and Kurdyumovka.
In the Toretsk direction, our defenders repelled five assaults by the aggressor. The enemy tried to advance in the Toretsk area, towards Novospasskoye and Yablunovka.

Six combat contacts are still ongoing. Koptevo, Tolstoy, Razino and Sukhoi Yar received air strikes.
In the Gulyai-Polye direction, the enemy launched air strikes with uncontrolled air missiles on Zheleznodorozhny; no offensive actions by the enemy in this direction were recorded.
The enemy has not carried out any active operations in the Orekhovo direction since the beginning of the day.
The enemy did not conduct any offensive operations in the Dnieper direction, but launched an airstrike on Otradokamyanka.
In the Kursk direction, 11 combat clashes have occurred since the beginning of the day, three of which are ongoing. In addition, the enemy carried out one air strike, dropping one guided bomb, and carried out 129 artillery shellings, including eight from multiple launch rocket systems.
While in other areas the situation has not changed much.
Let us recall that on the night of June 15, the Russian Federation attacked Ukraine with 194 air attack weapons - 167 were neutralized: 119 were shot down, another 48 were recognized as locally lost.
It should be noted that the total combat losses of Russians from 24.02.22 to 15.06.25 amounted to approximately 1,003,860 servicemen. Over the past 24 hours, 1,170 Russian occupiers were eliminated.
There is a proper line. Get in it and stay in it.
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] At least 15 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire near an aid centre in central Gaza, doctors said last night.
Medics at Al-Awda and Al-Aqsa hospitals said the victims were approaching the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) yesterday when they were shot.
The Israeli army said soldiers opened fire to ‘neutralise the threat’ posed when a man continued to move towards troops and ignored their warning shots.
Last week, the army warned Palestinians not to approach roads to GHF sites between 6pm and 6am, describing the routes as closed military zones.
The GHF began distributing food packages in Gaza at the end of May after Israel partially lifted a near three-month blockade.
But aid remains in short supply, and has made the humanitarian situation in Gaza desperate.
Scores of Palestinians have been killed in near daily shootings as they try to get food. The UN says the Israel-backed GHF violates humanitarian impartiality and is inadequate and dangerous.
Gaza’s health ministry said at least 274 people have been killed and more than 2,000 wounded near aid distribution sites since the GHF began operations.
Hamas, which denies claims that it steals aid, said Israel was using ‘hunger as a weapon of war and turning aid distribution sites into traps of mass deaths’.
In another incident yesterday, health officials at Shifa Hospital in Gaza said Israeli fire killed at least 12 Palestinians gathering to wait for aid trucks along the coastal road north of the strip.
The Israeli military ordered residents of Khan Younis and the nearby towns of Abassan and Bani Suhaila in the southern Gaza Strip to leave their homes and go to a so-called humanitarian zone, saying it was tackling ‘terror organisations’ in the area.
Neither Israel nor Hamas seems willing to back down on core demands to restore a ceasefire in Gaza, blaming each other for the failure to reach a deal.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin is in italics.
[ColonelCassad] Iran is ready to give up the creation of nuclear weapons in exchange for an end to Israeli attacks! Statement by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi! Iran has surrendered and is begging for mercy! How much do they have left to giveup? And how is that giving up to be guaranteed?
Let's figure it out.
Iran has been publicly stating for many years that it does not intend to create nuclear weapons. There is also a corresponding fatwa from Rahbar Ali Khamenei (the country is now demanding that it be cancelled in light of the well-known events). Neither the IAEA, nor the US intelligence community — no one in the world, except Israel — has unequivocally stated that Iran has or is actually developing nuclear weapons (the Americans have recently denied such statements).
The current US-Iranian negotiations are stuck at the stage that was obvious from the start: Washington ultimately demanded that Tehran stop all nuclear research, agree to zero enrichment of uranium and even abandon peaceful nuclear energy. This, by the way, is Israel's position - because, in its opinion, Iran should not have anything nuclear in any form. Naturally, the Iranians do not accept this and consider the right to develop peaceful nuclear energy to be their legal right.
They have also privately considered it to be their Allah-given right to develop nuclear weapons, no matter what they might otherwise say in public. but do go on.
That is, now the Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has simply repeated once again the official and well-known position of his state, which has already been voiced many times during negotiations - we can sign an agreement to renounce the creation of nuclear weapons (because we are not going to create them anyway), but we will not renounce peaceful nuclear energy:
How many lies can we count in that statement?
We are ready for any agreement that implies preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. However, if the goal of the agreement is to deprive Iran of its legal rights [to develop peaceful nuclear energy], then we are not ready for such an agreement.
And that's it. Absolutely nothing new, no sensations, no statements about renunciation of the creation of nuclear weapons in exchange for an end to Israeli bombing, because Iran has already lost the war and is now surrendering.
Countries surrendering because they have lost the war do not demand conditions to what they will surrender, I believe. Perhaps they need to be pounded some more until they have lost those things they would demand, to make the point moot.
In what form Araghchi's program statement was spread across Telegram channels is another question.
Everything is to the point. There is no fundamental change in Iran's diplomatic position. What was said before the war began, they are still saying.
However, after the funny reports two days ago that Iran would swallow and not respond, this is not surprising.
P.S. Israel issued a warning for Iranians to stay away from military and nuclear facilities.
Iran has issued a warning to Israelis to stay away from oil and nuclear facilities.
So to speak, an announcement for the evening.
The broadcast of military operations in the Middle East, as well as the war in Ukraine, can be watched as usual here (if anyone is interested, subscribe, there is a mountain of materials on both wars published there every day)
Iran is ready to conclude an agreement guaranteeing that it will not have nuclear weapons. This was stated by the country's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on June 15.
“We are ready for any agreement that implies preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons,” the minister noted at a meeting with ambassadors.
At the same time, he emphasized that if the goal of the agreement is to deprive Iran of the rights to develop peaceful nuclear energy, then the country is not ready for this.
As reported by Regnum News Agency, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacked several areas of Iran on the night of June 13, explaining this by the beginning of a military operation to counter the Iranian nuclear program. It was reported that the Jewish state's air force carried out more than a hundred strikes on the territory of the Islamic Republic in five waves of attacks.
Commenting on the escalation of the Middle East conflict, US President Donald Trump called on the Iranian authorities to reach an agreement on the nuclear program with Washington before it is too late. The American leader also said that the US produces the "deadliest" weapons in the world, of which Israel has many.
In a conversation with Regnum News Agency, Vladimir Sazhin, a senior research fellow at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, pointed out that the Israeli attack on Iran has already effectively closed the path to a nuclear deal between Tehran and Washington. He explained this by the fact that the American side was aware of Tel Aviv's plans. In addition, the US is demanding a complete zeroing of the Iranian nuclear program, which was not even in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) - the previous document that regulated Tehran's nuclear developments.
On June 14, the official representative of the diplomatic department of the Islamic Republic, Ismail Baghaei, said that the negotiations between Iran and the United States on the nuclear deal have not yet been canceled. However, he believes that the Israeli side, with its actions on June 13, effectively made the negotiations between Iran and the United States meaningless.

Anything less than a Japanese style public surrender to MacArthur [rubio or Witkoff or Rubio] from Iran just won't do! Iran must say they will stop enrichment and have the US monitor the nuclear dismantlement ON TV before the world.
Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin:
[ColonelCassad] 1. In response to Israel's ongoing attacks on Tehran, Kermashah, Isfahan, Natanz, Shiraz, etc., Israel attacked again last night. Targets were hit in Tel Aviv, Haifa, Shiraz, Ashdod. The most extensive destruction was achieved in Tel Aviv and Haifa. There were hits on the oil refinery in Haifa, the Weizmann Institute in Tel Aviv, part of a high-rise building was demolished in Tel Aviv and some streets were turned into a branch of Gaza on the outskirts.
2. The attack demonstrated the power of modern Iranian missiles, which successfully penetrated the Iron Dome and American air defense systems, including THAAD. Hypersonics once again showed themselves to be excellent, demonstrating overwhelming superiority over current air defense systems. Israel sadly notes that Iran launches fewer missiles, but does so more accurately and effectively than in 2024.
3. After the attacks, Iran again announced that it would stop attacks on Israel if Israel stopped its aggression. Since Israel's attacks continued in the morning, we will see a third series of Iranian retaliatory strikes tonight. The IRGC and the Iranian military have the necessary sanction. As well as the resources of the missile cities, which were practically untouched by the Israeli attack.
4. The options for a nuclear deal with the US and a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz are still on the table. Iran is ready for both negotiations and tough scenarios. In addition to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, these include withdrawal from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The impasse in nuclear negotiations with the US was a derivative of the US desire to deprive Iran of both nuclear energy and missile production programs. Iran has always been ready to exchange the renunciation of nuclear weapons for the lifting of sanctions and the free development of nuclear energy. It is not going to renounce missiles either.
5. The US has not yet publicly stated its desire to get involved in the war on Israel's side, which Israel really wants and asks for, but this option is on the table for them too, they are now just watching how effectively Israel copes on its own. Judging by the hysteria in Tel Aviv, the backlash turned out to be unexpectedly powerful for them. The US is also watching the reaction of other players. According to a number of unconfirmed reports, China and Pakistan are providing indirect support to Iran.
6. A number of attacks in Tehran, which were passed off as missile strikes, turned out to be ordinary sabotage by Israeli agents. At night, a group of people with a vehicle for launching drones was detained again in the capital of Iran. They hit 2 oil depots in Tehran. The number of arrests in Iran is in the dozens, patrols have been increased on the streets. It is obvious that Israel still has the ability to carry out internal attacks. Take note, our special services.
7. On Iran's nuclear facilities. The Fordow facility is intact. The Natanz facility - the underground part is intact, the above-ground structures are destroyed. The Isfahan plant - significantly damaged. Israel was unable to destroy the two main facilities. The Fordow facility is the most difficult target.

Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited. All from regnum.ru Iran launches retaliatory missile strikes on Haifa, Tel Aviv and Ashkelon
Iran launched missile strikes on Tel Aviv. This was reported on June 15 by Iranian state television IRIB.
Ashkelon and Haifa were also hit. Iran is reported to have launched ballistic missiles at Israel. Air raid sirens sounded in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Ashkelon and dozens of populated areas. Israelis were urged to seek shelter as soon as possible.
Iran launched a missile strike on Tel Aviv for the first time since the start of the day, the Iranian agency JahanNews reported.
As reported by Regnum News Agency, on the night of June 13, Israel attacked Iran, using hundreds of drones and aircraft. The Israeli leadership explained this by saying that, fearing Iran would use nuclear weapons, it decided to launch a “preemptive strike” on facilities related to Iranian nuclear development. Several high-ranking Iranian military personnel, a group of key specialists involved in the nuclear program, and civilians, including children, were killed.
The two countries exchanged several blows. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called the Iranian army's actions self-defense. Tehran called on Tel Aviv to stop the aggression.
Russia has condemned Israeli aggression. Russian President Vladimir Putin held telephone talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on June 13. The Russian leader said the situation must be resolved peacefully.
Israel Attacks Iranian Foreign Ministry Building, Casualties Reported
Israeli military attacked one of the buildings of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, several civilians were injured. This was stated on June 15 by Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran Saeed Khatibzadeh, the Iranian Tasnim agency writes.
"The Israeli regime carried out a brutal attack on one of the buildings of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, located opposite the Institute for Political and International Studies in Tehran," Khatibzadeh said.
The Iranian deputy foreign minister added that several civilians, including ministry employees, were injured as a result of Israel's attack on the foreign ministry building. All the injured were taken to hospital.
Iran admits conflict with Israel could last several weeks
The conflict between Iran and Israel will continue for the next few weeks, Mohsen Rezaei, a member of the Iranian Expediency Discernment Council, saidon Iranian state television.
"This war will continue in the coming weeks... The scale of the war may become more serious," Rezai said.
A day earlier, the American television channel CNN, citing officials from Israel and the United States, reported that Israel's military operation against Iran could last several weeks, not days, while the United States did not object to such a duration. The Israeli source noted that the duration of the conflict would depend on Iran's reaction.
In private conversations, the Donald Trump administration did not criticize the protracted nature of the operation. The American official emphasized that the United States supports Israel's right to self-defense, but does not intend to dictate specific actions. It is also reported that the Trump administration believes it is possible to resolve the situation through further negotiations with the United States.
According to the statement, two of his associates, high-ranking intelligence officers Hassan Mohakak and Mohsen Bagheri, were killed along with him.
Mohammad Kazemi is an Iranian military figure, a brigadier general in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Until 2022, he served as the head of the IRGC's counterintelligence department, having significant experience in security and intelligence matters. In June 2022, IRGC commander Major General Hossein Salami, who was also killed in the Israeli attack on June 13, appointed him head of the IRGC's intelligence organization, replacing Hossein Tayeb. Kazemi led IRGC intelligence until his death.

[REGNUM] On June 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin called his American counterpart Donald Trump. Formally, to congratulate the White House occupant on his birthday and American Flag Day.
“Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the personal relations that have developed, which allow them to communicate frankly and in a businesslike manner, to seek solutions to current issues on the bilateral and international agenda, no matter how complex these issues may be,” said Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, describing the essence and reasons for the congratulations.
It is no coincidence that on June 12, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio congratulated Russians on Russia Day – it is hard to remember the last time something like this happened.
However, the main topic of the negotiations was not Trump's personal holiday. And not Ukraine - it was, of course, touched upon, but only in passing. Putin told the American president about the implementation of the agreements and the readiness to continue the dialogue with Kiev - however, until the Kiev regime itself is ready for a serious diplomatic process, it will continue to stall.
The main topic was not even the upcoming next round of Russian-American negotiations on normalizing relations, which, according to the Russian Ambassador to the United States Alexander Darchiev, should take place in the near future in Moscow.
Yes, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump are gradually bringing Russian-American relations back from the bottom they hit under Joseph Biden, but this is a long and complex process that does not tolerate haste or publicity.
"It was more important to talk about Iran, a country he knows well," Donald Trump himself said. About Iran - and the consequences of what Israel is doing now.
"Vladimir Putin, having condemned Israel's military operation against Iran, expressed serious concern about the possible escalation of the conflict, which would have unpredictable consequences for the entire situation in the Middle East region," said Yuri Ushakov. And, of course, throughout the world.
And these consequences are obvious.
First, the breakdown of the American-Iranian negotiating process, which had been going on for five rounds, albeit not very well, with Oman as the mediator. Trump himself said that the parties' positions were getting closer - and Israel launched its strikes just before the next round of negotiations scheduled for June 15. After which the Iranians accused the United States of supporting or even facilitating the Israeli strikes and put the talks on hold.
Yes, Israel believes it has won a victory – the negotiations could have led to the US agreeing to Iran having a nuclear program. A limited one, under strict IAEA control – but its own, sovereign nuclear program.
For Israel, its presence was absolutely unacceptable, since, according to Tel Aviv’s logic, its development would inevitably reach the level of creating an atomic bomb, which would pose an existential threat to the Jewish state.
However, such a breakdown of the negotiation process, a demonstrative disregard for the norms of international law (and any country that is a signatory to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons has the right to nuclear weapons) could lead to the realization of Israeli fears.
Iran realizes that diplomacy does not work without a nuclear baton on its belt, after which it may well move at an accelerated pace to build a bomb.
And - this is the second consequence of the Israeli strikes - it is not only he who can realize this fact. A number of developing countries will clearly see the difference between North Korea (which no one touches because it has a nuclear bomb) and Iran, which is bombed only because of some suspicions. Moreover, they are bombed with impunity - the so-called world community, represented by the Western media, turns a blind eye to this.
After which they themselves will decide to create a nuclear bomb - the only absolute instrument for protecting their sovereignty.
And finally, thirdly, Israel's war against Iran is leading to a huge number of casualties and destruction. Both in Iran and in Israel. The main beneficiaries of this war will be radicals and Islamic terrorists (for whom Tel Aviv and Tehran - as well as, by the way, Moscow) are the main enemies.
That is why Russia immediately after Israel struck Iran began calling for a peaceful resolution of all contradictions. And not just calling, but also facilitating the transition from bombing to negotiations.
From the very first day of the escalation between Israel and Iran, Vladimir Putin has been looking for opportunities for dialogue and overcoming differences, in particular, holding talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Using his enormous authority in the Middle East (Russia is one of the few countries that maintains at least working relations with all players there), Putin is putting forward various initiatives to overcome differences.
Thus, even during the American-Iranian negotiations, Moscow proposed storing enriched Iranian uranium on its territory (which Tehran now refuses to eliminate, because it fears that the US will then withdraw from the deal and the uranium will no longer exist).
From this point of view, Vladimir Putin's call to Donald Trump became a kind of continuation of his conversations with Tehran and Tel Aviv. Everyone understands that, firstly, Donald Trump has great influence on Israel (which cannot fight without American help), and, secondly, that the US has its own interests in this conflict. Which any real mediator must also take into account. The one who wants to resolve the conflict, and not to use it for PR.
Von der Leyen tells PM ‘without any question’ Iran shouldn’t have nuclear weapons, notes ‘same type of Iranian drones, ballistic missiles are indiscriminately hitting cities in Ukraine, Israel’
[Breitbart] Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins is defending her push to exempt farmers, meat packers, and restaurant employers from the nation's immigration laws [actually a temporary exemption but these have a way of becoming permanent]
The New York Times reported on Saturday that Rollins persuaded President Donald Trump to protect those groups from his much-stated campaign promise to deport illegal migrants.
Investors then persuaded Trump to lift enforcement on hotels, which are important to the commercial real estate sector.

[Regnum] An attacker opened fire and wounded a person during a protest in Salt Lake City, Utah, US. The city police reported this on June 14 on the social network X.
It is specified that an unknown person opened fire in the city center, near State Street. The incident occurred during the nationwide No Kings action, directed against the policies of US President Donald Trump.
"We are investigating a shooting believed to be related to a demonstration near State Street... We can confirm that the shooting has left one person in critical condition. The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries," the Salt Lake City police statement said.
The police called on the protesters to leave the scene. It is noted that the alleged attacker was detained.
Earlier, Regnum News Agency reported that protests against the policies of President Donald Trump and his administration took place in a number of major cities. The demonstrations took place as part of the nationwide No Kings action on the day of the military parade in Washington and the birthday of the US President.
President Trump has warned of the possibility of using force in the event of protests during a military parade to celebrate the anniversary of the American army. The politician added that he considers the protesters to be people who hate their country.
…because that’s exactly what they are.
Here’s hoping the retirement home contingent were safely back inside for dinner before the excitement started:

[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] President Donald Trump got the birthday present he had been hoping for - good weather.
Despite several drops of rain falling as he and first lady Melania Trump arrived at Saturday's 250th anniversary for the U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.'s skies stayed clear enough for flyovers, parachute jumps and a grand fireworks display.
The president spoke for an uncharacteristically short eight minutes, but in doing so delivered a stern warning to America's enemies.
'There is no earthly force more powerful than the brave heart of the U.S. military or an Army Ranger paratrooper or Green Beret,' he told the crowd, sprawled far out onto the National Mall surrounding the Washington Monument.
There were fears ahead of Saturday's event, which coincided with Trump's 79th birthday, that the evening parade would have to be postponed or scrapped if there was lightning in the area.
The only lightning and thunder at the event was during country crooner Warren Zeiders' performance and when AC/DC's Thunderstruck played.
Ahead of the event there were also worries about protests.
While some of the 'No Kings' demonstrations around the country turned chaotic - including an incident with a man driving into a crowd - on the Mall there were only a smattering of critics - some quietly holding signs, others more loudly heckling the president's MAGA fans.
The president and first lady arrived at a viewing box where the Ellipse meets Constitution Avenue, with Melania sporting a cream pinstripe suit for the occasion.
After the Star-Spangled banner, when there was a break in the programming, members of the crowd loudly broked out into 'Happy Birthday' for Trump.
Trump has denied that the military parade is in his honor - though he's wanted to hold a Bastille Day-like parade since visting France in the opening months of his first term in 2017.
Directly before the president's entrance, Vice President J.D. Vance and Usha Vance arrived with their kids, alongside Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, as other dignitaries waited onstage.
While June 14 marked Trump's birthday, the Army's birthday and Flag Day, Vance admitted to the crowd it was a special occasion for his family too.
'First of all, June the 14th is, of course, the birthday of the Army. It is, of course, the birthday of the president United States. And Happy Birthday, Mr. President,' Vance said.
'But I would get in trouble if I didn't mention that it's also my wedding anniversary. And so to my lovely wife I love you, honey. Happy anniversary, and thank you for everything you do for our country,' the VP added.
Trump's family members were also on hand - Donald Trump Jr., with girlfriend Bettina Anderson, Eric Trump with wife Lara, as well as Tiffany Trump - who gave birth last month to her first child.
Dana White, the Trump pal and Ultimate Fighting Championship CEO, scored a prime seat to the parade.
Susie Wiles, the White House Chief of Staff, sat in the second row wearing a large pair of reflective sunglasses.
The parade showcased the history of the Army, with the earliest period uniforms going first.
That means the 1st Cavalry Division - including its mascot Doc Holliday, a two year old blue heeler - was near the beginning of the pack.
The flyovers started during the World War II era, as Jeeps rolled down Constitution Avenue as well as M4 Sherman tanks.
M1 Abrams tanks, Bradley Fighting Vehicles and Stryker vehicles later rolled down the parade route.
Parachutists from the Golden Knights jumped onto the Ellipse, while more modern aircraft including Chinook helicopters flew over the Washington Monument in a group.
While the president is used to packed crowds for his rallies, the attendance for Saturday’s parade wasn’t overwhelming.
Attendees had plenty of space on the National Mall to spread out.
The VIP bleachers located across from the press section were barely full.
Lines did stretch dozens of people deep for the food trucks that had been allowed on the National Mall.
There were handfuls of protesters, but most sat quietly while holding their signs.
One demonstrator, 72-year-old Mike from Washington, D.C., who declined to give his last name, held up a sign that read: 'Celebrate and respect our brave military personnel. Condemn and reject our cowardly draft-dodging authoritarian president.'
His female companion, who declined to be identified, held up a sign that read ‘Freedom not Fascism.'
Ahead of the fireworks a protester yelled out 'Trump is a traitor.'
Those surrounding the individual fired back with a 'USA' chant.
Similar to Trump's former campaign rallies, reports emerged from attendees of a two tiered system of treatment.
As VIPs filled in to a section with plenty of available seating, lines around the block were made up of general admission attendees, many of who were not permitted to entry the parade space as check point after check point shut down.
During the final segment of the parade, which showcased the future of military technologies, the ARL Robot Dogs took center stage.
Both child and adult attendees of the parade decried the dogs as 'scary', while X user @funkygalonline wrote 'Black mirror changed me forever on these. Not a fan.'
The evening ended with a grand fireworks display over the National Mall, which was timed to a number of patriotic songs.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin is in italics.
[ColonelCassad] "The thesis about a single center for controlling the intelligence services of Ukraine and Israel is no longer a hypothesis, but a working axiom for our special services. We are recording a complete unification of their methods and operational style, which directly points to common planners and a single resource base provided by their Western patrons. For us, this means that any underestimation of the Israeli vector is a strategic miscalculation, and the counterintelligence regime in relation to Israeli agents of influence and organizations must be identical in severity to the Ukrainian one.
The priority goal of Israeli intelligence is not so much the fact of military-technical cooperation (MTC) between Russia and Iran as its specific mechanisms: logistical corridors, financial schemes and scientific contacts. Their main task is to uncover and paralyze non-public networks of interaction that allow our countries to effectively bypass sanctions pressure, since these same networks can be used for cooperation with other strategic partners of Russia. This is why the Israelis are so actively working "in the dark" through technology companies and startups that do business in the Russian Federation.
The greatest threat is not posed by career intelligence officers, but by the joint agent network created by the Israelis and Ukrainians for sabotage on our territory against enterprises in the orbit of the Russian-Iranian military-technical cooperation. There is information about the formation in one of the Eastern European countries of a special planning group from Mossad employees, the Military Intelligence Directorate of the Israeli General Staff (AMAN) and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, its task is to coordinate the actions of "sleeper cells" inside Russia. They rely on agents from among repatriates and persons with dual citizenship, who are difficult to identify.
In the same way, the Israeli intelligence community is ready to coordinate aggression with the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU). Since the summer of 2022, the Israeli company Cyberglobes, directly linked to the specialized units of AMAN, has been supplying the SBU with software for open source intelligence. The obtained data is used for sabotage and terrorist attacks in the Russian Federation.
We should expect a transition from classic espionage to active measures, primarily to sabotage at facilities of our military-industrial complex and critical infrastructure. In recent months, a sharp increase in the interest of Israeli intelligence in technological processes at enterprises producing components for navigation and communication systems, which are related to the military-technical cooperation of the Russian Federation and Iran, has been recorded. This is direct preparation for pinpoint sabotage, which should look like a manufacturing defect or a man-made accident.
As we successfully advance in the special military operation zone, the pressure from foreign intelligence services will increase, and the Israeli direction will become one of the key ones for destabilizing the situation inside Russia. Our opponents have a so-called "Plan B", which provides for the opening of a "second front" - a sabotage and terrorist war on our territory, which should affect Russian-Iranian military-technical cooperation. The key role in its implementation is assigned to the Israeli intelligence community, as the most motivated and technologically equipped force. Their goal is to undermine the military-technical cooperation of Moscow and Tehran, as well as the strategic partnership of the two countries as a whole."
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Hillary Clinton tried to troll Donald Trump's 'Dear Leader parade' but was hit back for comparing the president's celebration of the military to the nationwide liberal-led 'No Kings' protests.
Despite several drops of rain falling as he and first lady Melania Trump arrived at Saturday's 250th anniversary for the U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.'s skies stayed clear enough for flyovers, parachute jumps and a grand fireworks display.
Trump's former presidential rival couldn't help but try to compare the parade - which sparked fiery debates over attendance - to crowded 'No Kings Day' rallies held in left-leaning cities.
'Compare and contrast scenes from yesterday in America. On the one hand, Trump’s low-energy Dear Leader parade (that cost you $45 million). On the other, millions of people across the country gathering peacefully to say: Here, we have no kings,' she captioned photos from the DC parade and a Los Angeles protest.
While the post received agreements from the ex-secretary of state's fellow liberals, she was walloped again by much of social media, especially when she once again turned off the ability to reply to her tweet.
'Hillary Clinton hates the troops, bigtime,' wrote Eric Daughtery.
Travis Parsley went a step further: 'Hillary Clinton hates everything about America!'
One commenter asked: 'Do you think Hillary hates our military?'
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A 39-year-old man died Sunday after he was shot during a 'No Kings' protest in Utah.
The unidentified victim was fatally shot during one of the 2,000 demonstrations Saturday in protest of President Donald Trump's birthday military parade in Washington D.C.
A total of three people were arrested in connection to the violent incident, including Arturo Gamboa, 24, who was also shot, Salt Lake City Police Chief Brian Redd said.
The protest quickly turned violent after several gunshots rang out while an estimated 10,000 people gathered just before 8pm.
Officers pursued Gaboa after multiple witnesses pointed him out to them at the scene. Another two people involved were arrested, Redd said.
According to investigators, two men - believed to be designated peacemakers - spotted Gaboa isolating himself from the crowd during the march before he moved behind a wall and pulled out a rifle, KUTV reported.
He then raised the weapon into a firing position and charged toward the large crowd. One of the alleged peacemakers then fired three rounds, striking Gamboa and the victim, Redd detailed.
SWAT medics immediately performed life-saving care to the bystander before firefighters and paramedics stepped in. His identity has not been released, pending notification to next of kin.
The victim was not targeted in the attack, but was an 'innocent bystander participating in the demonstration,' Redd said.
Gaboa suffered a minor gunshot wound after police found him 'hiding in a group of people.'
Officers soon located a backpack belonging to him that contained an 'AR-15 style rifle' and gas mask, according to Redd.
Gamboa was seen in dramatic pictures and videos being arrested and taken away on a stretcher by police and paramedics.
He was treated at the hospital before being transferred and booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail.
Daily Mail contacted the Salt Lake City Police Department for more information.
Rowdy scenes were captured across other big cities across America, including Portland, New York, Denver and Los Angeles as more than 5,000 people showed up for countless protests.
The deadly assassinations of Minnesota State Representative Melissa and her husband Mike Hortman also occurred early on Saturday - and are believed to be politically motivated after 'No Kings' flyers were found in the Trump-supporter suspect's cars.
There were a total of 15 separate 'No Kings' demonstrations across LA Saturday. Five people were arrested for protest-related offenses.
Meanwhile, 17 people were arrested in Denver, Colorado, police said.
It is unclear who was charged, but police said those people were nabbed for resisting arrest, failure to obey lawful order, obstruction of streets and unlawful throwing of projectiles, per CBS News.
A protester clashed with authorities near the entrance of Interstate 25 while a group allegedly attempted to enter the road.
Other demonstrators allegedly hurled rocks and other objects at officers during the protest.
It was also a scene of chaos in Portland, Oregon as hundreds of protesters dressed in black clashed with federal officers at the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers.
Federal officers decked out in tactical gear deployed smoke, tear gas, flash grenades and other projectiles as demonstrators threw fireworks and water bottles in response.
Some even used a stop sign to smash through one of the doors to the ICE facility.
Joseph R. Checklick Jr., 21, drove his SUV through a dispersing crowd in a parking lot in northern Virginia, which led to him 'striking at least one person with his vehicle,' police said in a statement.
The protest took place throughout Saturday afternoon in Culpeper, a small town roughly 70 miles from Washington, D.C.
There were huge, boisterous crowds marching, dancing, drumming, and chanting shoulder-to-shoulder in New York, Denver, Chicago, Austin and Los Angeles, some behind 'No Kings' banners.
In some places, organizers handed out little American flags while others flew their flags upside down, a sign of distress.
Mexican flags which have become a fixture of the Los Angeles protests against immigration raids, also made an appearance at some demonstrations Saturday.
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The annual Bilderberg Meeting is underway in Sweden, providing a private forum for discussion at a time when President Donald Trump has upended security and economic ties between the US and Europe.
The high-level networking event was formed in 1954 to foster dialogue between the US and Europe.
Media outlets are not invited to attend, and delegates rarely speak about what is discussed, triggering numerous conspiracy theories about their aims.
NATO General Secretary Mark Rutte, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Christopher Donahue, Commander of the US Army Europe and Africa are among those on this year's delegate list, published by the organizers just ahead of the meeting.
Others include Palantir boss Alex Karp; Gundbert Scherf, co-founder of German drone and AI company Helsing; and Spotify chief executive Daniel Ek.
Heads of the CIA and MI6 have been among its members, while Henry Kissinger was a regular alongside the likes of Bill Clinton, Bill Gates and then-Prince Charles.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson will give a speech 'on Sweden's and the EU's competitiveness and Sweden's support for Ukraine,' his spokesperson said.
Transatlantic relations top the agenda, with Ukraine, critical raw materials and AI also on the list, according to the organizers who also publish the names of the participants.
Other than that, information is scarce. The organizers say the secrecy is to allow participants to be able to speak freely in an environment of trust.
'There is no desired outcome, there is no closing statement, there are no resolutions proposed or votes taken, and the meeting does not support any political party or viewpoint,' the official website says.
The Daily Mail infiltrated the 2018 meeting, the first time an undercover journalist ever managed to do so, gaining insights about the meeting's inner workings.
How much impact groups like Bilderberg actually have is hard to judge, according to Christina Garsten, professor at the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study, who studies transnational think tanks.
They aim to shape the broad political and corporate agenda. But if they are seen as having too much influence, they can be accused of being anti-democratic.
'It's there that conspiracy theories can flower,' she said.
She dismissed the belief held by some that groups like Bilderberg make up a shadowy world government. 'I think it's very much exaggerated,' she said.
Sunday is the last of four days of talks that were likely dominated by geopolitical concerns, including discussing Israel and Iran's missile strikes on each other in real time.
Bilderberg insider Nadia Schadlow, a former deputy US national security adviser, hinted 'the growing collusion among revisionist powers' would be a big focus of the talks.
'An authoritarian axis is rapidly coalescing around China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea, disrupting the belief that an international community has taken shape in the aftermath of the cold war,' she said, ahead of the meeting.
Other topics of discussion made public include 'geopolitics of energy and critical minerals' and 'defense innovation and resilience'.
The numerous big tech bosses at the meeting will likely steer solutions towards their technology, such as the increased use of AI-controlled attack drones.
Former Google boss Eric Schmidt, a longtime Bilderberg board member, recently warned that a super-intelligent AI would be created within five years - and he was worried a hostile nation would be first.
'China is at parity or pulling ahead of the US in a variety of technologies, notably at the AI frontier,' he said.
'The geopolitical stakes, especially in the race with China, are enormous.'
Schmidt feared the creation of such AI would give that nation 'the keys to control the entire world' with unprecedented military dominance.
This year's Bilderberg is the first since a major shift in its leadership with former NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg chairing its 'steering committee'.
Stoltenberg's tenure at NATO was dominated by the Russia-Ukraine conflict and he proudly claimed to have overseen 'the largest reinforcement of our collective defense in a generation.'
Many of his Bilderberg colleagues have benefited from this increased defense spending. Among them is Trump insider Peter Thiel, boss of AI giant Palantir, whose technology has been used by Ukraine in the fight against Putin.
Stoltenberg will co-chair the steering committee alongside Canadian-American economist, philanthropist, Marie-Josée Kravis who sits on the board of Publicis, one of the world's largest PR and communications companies.
Kravis is married to the billionaire Henry Kravis, founder of legendary investment firm KKR.
This cabal of the global, largely liberal, elite — with strong ties to the EU — meets every year amid a cloak of secrecy, but Stoltenberg's appointment as co-chair also reflects the group's strategic realignment amid rising geopolitical tensions.
Having overseen NATO's largest defense reinforcement in a generation, Stoltenberg is no stranger to Bilderberg, participating in meetings since 2002.
His tenure as NATO chief was dominated by the Russia-Ukraine conflict and increasing NATO expansion, making him a natural choice to steer Bilderberg's discussions on transatlantic defense.
Meanwhile, Thiel's growing influence at Bilderberg also signals a convergence of tech innovation and military strategy.
His robotics company, Anduril, and Palantir have both capitalized on the global arms race, reflecting the group's longstanding ties to defense and intelligence.
Thiel's ideological alignment with Trump and his tech-driven contributions to defense provide a modern reflection of Bilderberg's founding ethos - melding elite influence with geopolitical strategy.
Stoltenberg's leadership, coupled with Thiel's outsized influence, points to a Bilderberg Group increasingly intertwined with military innovation and political strategy.

[REGNUM] Iran and Israel continue to exchange intense strikes. Against this backdrop, the operation against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, which official Tel Aviv recently called “existential,” has temporarily faded into the background.
Israel threw all its forces against the Iranians, completely forgetting about its other project - an "alternative government" of the enclave headed by a loyalist Bedouin. Which, given the busy schedule of its "senior comrades", was left alone with Hamas.
ROBIN HOODS IN ISRAELI STYLE
The first news of “enclave loyalists” came at the end of November 2024, when a number of major Western media outlets (including, for example, The Washington Post) reported on attempts by the Israeli army to influence the flow of humanitarian aid through Gaza.
Allegedly, the main supply lines were laid through so-called red zones, where armed groups of unknown affiliation operated, emptying vans and appropriating humanitarian aid.
The Israelis turned a blind eye to what was happening, attributing the operations to the activities of “local militias.”
And not forgetting to emphasize that the latter acted on the principle of "rob the loot" and attacked only those trucks that had already allegedly been appropriated by Hamas. However, they kept silent about who exactly was leading the raids.
Towards the middle of 2025, the “pro-Israeli militias” acquired a face. Yasser Abu Shabab, a member of the influential Bedouin clan Tarabin, came to the fore.
Shabab's men, using his connections in the criminal world and support from the Israeli command, quickly took over the small gangs operating in the enclave and created the "Gaza Governance Committee." It positions itself as a future alternative to the Hamas government and proclaims its goal to be the "peaceful rebirth" of the enclave.
According to various sources, between 300 and 500 fighters are fighting under the Shabab, distributed among the “red zones” from East Rafah to Karem Abu Salem. At the same time, the “committee’s” base, from which the main raids are carried out, is located in close proximity to the Israeli outposts in the Philadelphia Corridor, near the border city of Rafah.
SUITCASE WITHOUT HANDLE
Despite the ambitions of Israel's plan to establish an "alternative administration" in Gaza, it quickly stalled.
First of all, the criminal past of the leader of the "Gaza Governance Committee" played a role. Shabab, who had previously been involved in robberies and drug smuggling, did not really fit into the image of a fighter for civil liberties created by the Israeli media.
In addition, he was suspected of having ties to the terrorist underground, including because the ranks of the “committee” include former participants in radical campaigns in Syria and Iraq, and the information work is carried out by people from the banned media outlet “Al-Furqan”.
Because of this, the sudden revelation by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the authorities' support for the "committee" was met with extreme coldness by his Knesset colleagues.
The Prime Minister was quickly reminded of the sad experience of the United States, when support for the “gray militias” in Iraq in the early 2000s resulted in the emergence of new radical movements in the Middle East.
And some deputies, such as Avigdor Lieberman (Yisrael Our Home), even tried to provoke an image scandal (similar to the fading Qatargate). However, so far without result.
With the start of Israel's Operation Lion Force against Iran, the fighters of the Gaza Control Committee were essentially left to their own devices. Their opponents did not miss the chance to take advantage of this.
Hamas counterintelligence raids resulted in the arrest of several dozen members of the "committee," including a couple of mid-level commanders. Another fifty or so loyalists were killed in clashes in various parts of the enclave.
At the same time, the Palestinians have not yet managed to catch Shabab himself - he almost never leaves the “citadel” near the Philadelphia Corridor and commands the fighters remotely.
INTERNAL SQUABBLES
Although the committee's representatives are currently trying to avoid clashes with Hamas units and prefer to mainly hunt humanitarian caravans, their activity is causing increasing irritation among the current leadership of the enclave.
Moreover, the emergence of alternative centers of power in Gaza – even if they are more of a decorative nature – provokes squabbles between Palestinian factions.
One of the first to make a mark was the head of the Palestinian National Authority, Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas. Although he did not see the committee as a real force, he called its appearance in Gaza "a harbinger of the fall of Hamas" and advocated the immediate demilitarization of the movement.
Representatives of other competing forces later tried to put forward a similar idea.
However, such attacks do not yet correspond too closely to reality. Units of pro-Israeli militias still retain relative combat capability, but they are unlikely to be able to hold out for long without the direct participation of the Israeli army in the event of large-scale clashes.
Moreover, Israel itself is not in a hurry to pump resources into the Shabab forces, fearing the loss of strict control over its units. Especially in the context of the war with Iran that has begun.
Recruiting new fighters within the enclave also proved difficult, as the committee's overly obvious connections with Israeli military structures played a cruel joke.
Hamas, meanwhile, has set its sights on getting even with Tel Aviv for its attempts to undermine its position in Gaza from within. The movement was among the first to join the strikes on Israeli territory as part of Iran's Operation True Promise 3, while other proxy forces, such as Lebanon's Hezbollah, have so far adopted a wait-and-see attitude.
Hamas has enough resources to play simultaneously on two “boards” – both against the Israelis and their proxies.
Therefore, it is not worth excluding the possibility that the committee will soon go into a completely defensive mode, so as not to lose any remaining influence.

[REGNUM] Israel's attack on Iranian nuclear and military facilities on the night of June 12-13 came as a shock to many countries in the Middle East.
It cannot be said that it was unexpected, since Qatar, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia had asked Donald Trump the day before not to use force against Iran, since a retaliatory strike could hit American bases on their territory.
Did they mean it, or was that merely face-saving posturing?
But the escalation that began, which was very difficult to control, especially given Trump’s own compliments to the Israeli army (IDF), seriously frayed the nerves of Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman, his colleagues in the GCC and one of Israel’s main antagonists in the region, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The poor darlings, all of whom — except, in the medium term, Turkey — are considerably safer now than they were before. Turkey needs to hope that President Trump will protect them from Israel’s ire, given how awful they’ve been in that direction, but after seeing how Iran was not protected, perhaps ought not be as smugly sanguine as they were…
The first official reaction from Ankara began to come closer to midday on June 13. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan accused Israel of violating international law, destabilizing the region and provoking the US-Iran talks.
Because America needs to be white knighted like that…
Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz announced that Turkey "strongly condemns the Netanyahu administration's aggression," which has no legitimate justification and is aimed at undermining regional stability.
Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş said Israel's actions were plunging "the region and the world into flames."
Hystarical much? Given how carefully Israel has targetted her hits, even Iran in general is not plunged into flames — exactly as was observed in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria.
The head of the Turkish presidential administration's communications department, Fahrettin Altun, said the strikes on Iran showed "how dangerous the genocidal Netanyahu administration has become for the region and world peace."
Speaking via social media that evening, Erdogan summarized the positions of his comrades, repeating the theses about Israel’s intention to disrupt the negotiations between Iran and the United States, violating international law and destabilizing the region, but adding emotional assessments.
The attacks, he said, demonstrate "the Israeli mentality of breaking all rules" and that the international community needs to stop "Israeli banditry."
You going to bell the Israeli cat, perhaps? No? Then we know what to think about you.
The Turkish president's words, bordering on insult, are in fact resonating with millions of Muslims, and especially Arabs, who have been watching the extermination of tens of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza for almost two years.
Either in their heart of hearts they don’t believe what they say, or they are cowards, all. Either is acceptable.
Israel uses force not only in Palestine, but also in neighboring Lebanon and Syria. After the change of power in Syria to the pro-Turkish Ahmed al-Sharaa, Ankara has another point of conflict with Netanyahu.
The IDF has been shelling Turkish military base construction sites in Syria. In May, Turkey and Israel, brokered by Trump, launched de-escalation talks in Baku, but the prospects for normalization have become even more dim after Israel’s attack on Iran.
Israel has had normalization with Turkey. Several times, as Erdogan’s mood and calculations wax and wane. It no longer seems a goal worth striving for, given how quickly President Erdogan turns negative.
At the same time, Erdogan has no sympathy for Iran or its “axis of resistance,” to put it mildly. Turkey has been butting heads with pro-Iranian Bashar al-Assad in Syria for many years. In December 2024, Ankara effectively drove the Iranians out of Damascus.
Against this background, Europe has another argument to stop isolating Ankara and move towards rapprochement with it. For the EU and Britain, Turkey has become a window of access to Syria - the first visits of European foreign ministers were organized by the Turkish side.
When Trump began to question America’s participation in ensuring European security and gradually “withdrew” from support for Ukraine, Turkey’s importance for the Old World increased to the skies.
However, they will still not be able to become allies: there are too many contradictions.
Europe is trying to split the Turkic world - Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan disowned Northern Cyprus at the EU summit. Erdogan's activity in the Mediterranean with attempts to divide maritime borders with Libya and Syria worries Cyprus, Greece, France and other EU members.
The Iranian issue, although not the main point of divergence between Turkey and the EU, does not add sugar to the tea of the Turkish-European partnership.
While Erdogan accused Netanyahu of banditry, European countries quickly changed their tune. If yesterday they threatened to impose sanctions on Israel for its new operation "Gideon's Chariots", now Germany, France and Great Britain are talking about its "right to self-defense".
Erdogan did not quarrel with the Europeans because of their hypocrisy. Firstly, because investments, trade and defense projects with Europe are important and necessary for him. And secondly, despite all the hatred for the "murderer Netanyahu", Iran is not the topic for which it is worth taking such a principled position.
As in the previous year, when Iran and Israel also exchanged blows and sabotage, Turkey is again formally on Iran’s side. Erdogan needs to show solidarity with the Islamic world and its protector in the face of Israeli expansion. Last summer, he even proposed creating an “Islamic army” in response to the killings in Gaza and attacks on Lebanon.
It is worth remembering that Iran and Turkey have historically been competitors in the region. In the first half of the 16th century, the Ottoman Empire waged grueling wars with the Safavid Empire for control over eastern Anatolia, Kurdistan, and the South Caucasus. And at the present stage of history, Türkiye and Iran are still competing for influence in the Middle East and the South Caucasus.
Iran was very unhappy with the plans to create the "Zangezur Corridor" between Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan and Turkey. Erdogan took over one of Iran's proxies, Syria, and is forcing competition on Iran in Shiite Iraq, implementing the "Development Road" project there, connecting Istanbul with the Persian Gulf.
Despite the objective competition, the situational interests of Turkey and Iran in relation to Israel coincide. Both Erdogan and Ayatollah Khamenei want to stop the war in Gaza and oppose further Israeli expansion in Lebanon and Syria.
Turkey is not happy with the breakdown of the “nuclear negotiations” because Ankara is interested in lifting sanctions against Iran.
Under the Obama administration, Turkey's Halkbank was indicted in the U.S. for circumventing these restrictions in the Zarrab affair, a scheme that involved several members of Erdogan's cabinet.
Tehran and Ankara, despite all their problems, manage to keep competition within reasonable limits. That is why Erdogan unilaterally expressed condolences to the “friendly and brotherly people of Iran,” ignoring the losses on the Israeli side.
International crises involving Muslim countries are always an opportunity to strengthen relations with the Islamic world, in which Türkiye is extremely interested.
Erdogan's first call was to the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, whose rhetoric toward Israel has hardened, and the King of Jordan. Calls were also made to two other allied states that are extremely sensitive to relations with Israel.
The Turkish president tried to convince Syrian leader Al-Sharaa not to get involved in the confrontation between Iran and Israel, since such a situation would require Turkey to declare war on Israel, and in fact, on the US and NATO.
Consultations were also held with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who is allied with Israel, and it was important for Erdogan to hear from Baku that it would not provide its territory for an attack on Iran. After all, in that case, Tehran could strike Azerbaijan, which would force Turkey to act within the framework of the "Shushin Declaration."
In the context of the Iranian-Israeli standoff, another point has been identified from the point of view of Turkey's interests. The fact is that Russia and the United States are working to put an end to the conflict. After a conversation with Vladimir Putin, the American leader announced that they both believe that the war must end.
On the same day, June 14, Erdogan called Trump and said that Ankara was ready to make every effort to prevent uncontrolled escalation. On June 15, Fidan discussed de-escalation with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.
Erdogan, judging by Trump's compliments, Turkey's mediation in the dialogue between Al-Sharaa and the head of the White House and the Istanbul talks with Marco Rubio, enjoys the US President's great respect. Russia still counts on the "Istanbul format" of negotiations with Ukraine and appreciates Erdogan's efforts to resolve the conflict.
Inspired by relative successes in Ukraine and support from the Kremlin and the White House, Erdogan may try on the role of peacemaker in the Iran-Israel conflict.
Unlike Eastern Europe, where Ankara manages to maintain “equally close” contacts with Kiev and Moscow, in the Middle East conflict, Erdogan’s candidacy as a mediator will clearly not be approved by Israel. However, Türkiye can become a mediator between the US and Iran.
In October 2024, before Iran launched strikes on Israel in retaliation for the killing of Hezbollah and Hamas leaders, the Turkish Foreign Ministry, at the request of the State Department, tried to dissuade Tehran from attacking, calling on the US and Iran to make reasonable decisions.
Ankara may make a new attempt at mediation, but its success will depend on Trump's ability to stop new Israeli attacks.
