-Lurid Crime Tales-
Amid Floyd Chaos, Marxist UN "Human Rights" Boss Targets U.S.
[America Daily] The communists are back to their old tricks: Pressure from above, and pressure from below, to destroy freedom and all who resist. In recent days, United Nations "High Commissioner for Human Rights" Michelle Bachelet (shown), an actual communist who defected to the brutal dictatorship enslaving East Germany, blasted the United States amid protests and riots, painting the nation as a racist abomination in need of deep reforms to address "structural racism."

Exploiting the death of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer, the far-left UN "human rights" boss — a big fan of the late mass-murdering dictator Fidel Castro — made all sorts of demands, too. Naturally, establishment propaganda outlets posing as news organizations around the world parroted the dishonest claims by the scandal-plagued UN operative, further tarnishing America’s image abroad. She also demanded that U.S. authorities bow down to the demands of the "protesters."

Top L.A. Democrat Pushed To Cut LAPD Funding While Having Private LAPD Detail At Her Home Since April
[Daily Wire] Los Angeles City Council President Nury Martinez, a Democrat, pushed to make drastic cuts to the Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) funding amid a nationwide campaign by the far-left to defund police departments — a move she made while having an LAPD unit stationed outside her private home since April.

Spectrum News 1 journalist Natalie Brunell reported that the unit, which guards Martinez’s home, usually includes two police officers and has been in place for the last two months.

“The private security detail infuriated some members of the force when Martinez became one of the council members to spearhead a motion to cut $150 million in funding to the LAPD’s budget,” Brunell reported Monday. “Multiple LAPD sources confirmed the units were directed to provide 24/7 security beginning April 4 at Martinez’s home, almost always staffed by two officers. As of May 6, we’re told the detail decreased to 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. with roving patrol checks overnight.”

US Decision to Withdraw troops from Germany "Unacceptable"
[USNews] "This is completely unacceptable, especially since nobody in Washington thought about informing its NATO ally Germany in advance," Peter Beyer, a member of Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservatives, told the Rheinische Post newspaper.

Following Trump's decision, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said in a newspaper interview that he regretted the planned withdrawal of U.S. soldiers from Germany, describing Berlin's relationship with the United States as "complicated".

#2  I was a US Military Brat in Hubbelrath, Hilden, Prüm, Heidelberg from 1964 to 1968.

The West Germany that I grew up in, appreciated its freedom and the US Military being there.

Now 50+ years later with fall of the Wall and the USSR. The former SOCIALISTS/Communists East Germany have become part of what is now Germany. They also brought with them Socialist-Communist values and culture. I would not want to live there again. Because see Germany moving further and further LEFT towards Socialism.

If I were Trump I would tell every NATO country its been 50+ years, is it time for the US to move on. Have the population take a vote. IF it ain't 70+% for US to stay....we should leave.

#4  The original rationale for long term occupation troops in Bavaria was that was where the hard core nazis came from. My younger son was barracked in Graf, and the building's prior occupant was the Waffen SS. The 'eagle and wreath' had been sandblasted off of all the door lintels, and the laundry room still had the outlines on the walls where crew served weapons had been hung.
I think we've pretty much got past all that by now.

#8  Most Euorpean histories in dealing with the 19th Century have passages about German Unification. In reality, it was mostly the annexation of the German states by Prussia. When real historians in the future write about the 20th Century Europe there will be some who will write about German reunification, when others will point out the de facto political absorption by East Germany Marxism.

#12  The United States Needs German Bases More Than Germany Does

Yet another view from a pinko that the US should adhere to arms treaties systematically flouted by Russia and denies Russian territorial ambitions. The reality is that to the extent the defense of Europe is in the American interest, the US needs bases in Poland, not Germany, because that's where the front line is. After Munich, Hitler said, "This is my last territorial demand in Europe", not because he was uniquely evil, but because pretty much all conquerors try to get their quarry's guard down until they are ready to move. After the invasion of Poland, no one trusted anything he said, but he had what he needed - an alliance with Russia that ensured a quiet Eastern Front while he invaded France and the Low Countries. Bottom line is that you don't know what someone's true aims are until he stops, which is why you don't believe his stated aims, since he might be underplaying those aims, but attempt to match or exceed his capabilities. That is where Germany has been falling down on the job.

#13  We can't afford to be there anymore. It's time to go. When Trump gets us out of the ME quagmire we won't need those bases and their absence will reduce future temptations to stage unnecessary adventures in that part of the world. It will disappoint some at the Pentagon, but that's a feature, not a bug.
Posted by: M. Murcek || 06/09/2020 18:06 Comments || Top||

#14  We can't afford to be there anymore.

We can't afford not to be there. Our forces there are a placeholder. If we don't have them there, we'll cut our military spending to pre-WWII levels as a % of national output, while increasing gibsmedat funding levels. Then we'll get hit by a nuclear Pearl Harbor that kills hundreds of millions of Americans. In an age when bombs are powerful and the vehicles to deliver them can literally circumnavigate the globe, cutting defense is literally penny-wise and pound-foolish.

Eisenhower stressed the need for a military-industrial complex, because in future wars, we won't be able to build what we need from a standing start as we did in WW2, thanks to the miracle of nuclear warheads, ballistic missile subs, ICBMs and bombers that can cross oceans to seek out targets. Oddly enough, the only part of his speech the left focused on was his caution that we should not let it get too big. Defense spending was 10% of national output at the end of his administration, so he presumably thought that was a reasonable number. It is now just under 4%.

#15  As I understood it, the point of being in Germany was to keep the Russians out and the Germans down. We appear to have accomplished both objectives. Good job, guys! Come on home. To our German brethren, I say "So long and thanks for all the schnitzel! And bier."

#2  Distracting people from the problems at home. Typical play for thuggish governments.

This is not a distraction. This is the main event. Everything else is a distraction. National leaders don't generally see themselves as glorified security guards for financiers and their accountants. Don't let the moronic shibboleths of the past century distract you from this essential truth. National leaders want to be famous, not just in the here and now, but for as long as anyone reads history books, and over and above every one of the individuals who's ever occupied their seats. It's no accident that Caesar and Alexander are basically the most famous personalities in Rome and Greece respectively - their ability to bring to fruition the epigram veni, vidi, vici is the basis of their long-lasting fame.

President Chaos? Not Exactly
[American Greatness] - All the stops have now been pulled out in the necessarily unorthodox Democratic presidential campaign.

The Democrats are simultaneously blaming the president for blundering into the coronavirus crisis, (though how isn’t explained beyond deficiencies of testing, which has nothing to do with prevention or cure); and with failing to extend the lockdown long enough (meaning until their election victory is secured by the resulting economic hardship). They accuse him of indifference to police racism, though his comments on the George Floyd killing in Minneapolis two weeks ago are identical to theirs, and of somehow being responsible for the extreme violence and destructiveness of some of the urban protests, but also of oppression and Bonapartism in threatening to use the armed forces to quell the violence if the Democratic mayors and governors don’t deploy adequate forces to contain the violence. Their latest trick is orchestrated anti-Trump statements by disgruntled former senior military officers.

There was never any question of just letting this one go as unwinnable, as when they renominated Adlai Stevenson to run against Dwight Eisenhower in 1956, or when conservatives nominated Barry Goldwater in an ideological revolt against Lyndon Johnson and the Kennedy Myth in 1964. The Democrats were never going to acquiesce this year in what has become the custom of alternating two-term presidencies.

George Floyd's Family Petitions United Nations to Help Disarm Police in the United States
Yeah... 'cuz that will work soooo well.
[Breitbart] The family of George Floyd, the black man killed while in police custody in Minneapolis on Memorial Day, has sent a letter to the globalist United Nations to ask for its help in disarming police officers in the United States of America.

The family’s legal team facilitated the letter, which was sent on Wednesday, according to NBC News:

The group sent a letter on June 3 to one of the international body’s working groups asking for support for the end of the provision of military equipment and military-type training for police, the teaching of deescalation techniques, independent prosecutions and autopsies for "extrajudicial" police killings, and more.

"When a group of people of any nation have been systemically deprived of their universal human right to life by its government for decades, it must appeal to the international community for its support and to the United Nations for its intervention," Floyd’s family attorney Ben Crump said in a press release.

The U.N. issued a statement on May 28, three days after Floyd’s death, and included the names of other black people in the U.S. who died in police custody. Michelle Bachelet, U.N. Commissioner on Human Rights, is quoted in the statement, which says, in part:

"This is the latest in a long line of killings of unarmed African Americans by U.S. police officers and members of the public," Bachelet said. "I am dismayed to have to add George Floyd’s name to that of Breonna Taylor, Eric Garner, Michael Brown and many other unarmed African Americans who have died over the years at the hands of the police — as well as people such as Ahmaud Arbery and Trayvon Martin who were killed by armed members of the public."

"The US authorities must take serious action to stop such killings, and to ensure justice is done when they do occur. Procedures must change, prevention systems must be put in place, and above all police officers who resort to excessive use of force should be charged and convicted for the crimes committed."

"The role that entrenched and pervasive racial discrimination plays in such deaths must also be fully examined, properly recognized and dealt with," she added.

While saying she understood the anger unleashed by Floyd’s killing, Bachelet urged people in Minneapolis and elsewhere to protest peacefully.

NBC did not report on whether or not the Floyd family or its legal counsel have heard back from the U.N.

The Grand Turk
Turkey orders 149 people detained for suspected Gulen links -Anadolu
[Jpost] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
on Monday ordered the detention of 149 people, mainly from the security forces, over suspected links to the network Ankara says orchestrated a failed coup in 2016, state-owned Anadolu news agency reported.

Authorities have carried out a sustained crackdown on alleged followers of U.S.-based Moslem holy man Fethullah Gülen
... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world. Gülen and Erdogan used to be really good friends, but only one of them could be sultan, and Gülen lost...
since the failed coup in July 2016, when 250 people were killed.

Gulen denies any involvement. A former ally of President Tayyip Erdogan, he has lived in self-imposed exile in Pennsylvania since 1999.

The prosecutor's office in the western province of Balikesir ordered the detention of 74 people, all previously sacked from the security forces and including six former police chiefs, security officials and Anadolu said.

Prosecutors in southeastern Gaziantep province ordered the detention of 33 people, including 24 security forces personnel on active duty, Anadolu said. It said that in western Bursa province, prosecutors ordered the detention of 42 people, including six soldiers on active duty.

Erdogan has for years accused Gulen's supporters of establishing a "parallel state" by infiltrating the police, judiciary, military and other state institutions.

Since the coup attempt, about 80,000 people have been held pending trial and some 150,000 civil servants, military personnel and others sacked or suspended.

Queens man busted after plowing car into George Floyd protesters
[NYPost] Jacob Leiper, 44, of Queens, was arrested on charges of reckless endangerment and leaving the scene of the accident in connection to the dangerous encounter around 10:30 p.m. Saturday in Crown Heights, according to cops. Protesters had begun kneeling in the street when Leiper tried to get around the crowd at Saint John’s Place and Brooklyn Ave., police said.

UK’s Johnson denounces protest ‘thuggery’ as statues vandalized
[IsraelTimes] UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson says anti-racism demonstrations have been “subverted by thuggery” after protesters tore down a statue of a slave trader in the city of Bristol and scrawled graffiti on a statue of Winston Churchill in London.

London’s Metropolitan police say a dozen people were arrested and eight officers injured after demonstrators clashed Sunday with police in central London. Crime, Policing and Justice Minister Kit Malthouse calls for those responsible for toppling the bronze memorial to slave trader Edward Colston in Bristol to be prosecuted.

3 members of anti-government group ANTIFA arrested after looting a Target in Austin, FBI says
[KSAT] Property damage and stolen property valued over $20,000.

Three people have been arrested for looting, burglarizing and damaging property at an Austin Target store, according to the FBI. The three individuals are known members of the anti-government group ANTIFA, FBI officials said. The crimes occurred on May 31 at a Target store in the 5600 block of N. I-35 in Capital Plaza.

Lisa Hogan, 27, of Austin, is charged with Riot and Burglary of a Building. FBI officials said Hogan used Facebook Live from the scene to encourage others to join the looting.

Samuel Miller, 22, of Austin, is charged with Criminal Mischief and Burglary of a Building. FBI officials said he destroyed and ripped out surveillance cameras at the store.

Skye Elder, 23, of Austin, was arrested for Burglary of a Building.

Bonds for each of the accused was set at $25,000 per charge.

FBI officials said the trio was part of a group of about 20 people who ripped plywood from in front of the doors, shattered the glass on the doors and entered the store. Members of the Austin Police Department Special Response Team arrived shortly thereafter and took the trio into custody.

Coronavirus: Indian subcontinent surges
India Low on Hospital Beds, COVID-19 Cases Surge
[ToloNews] Delhi and Mumbai are hotspots for coronavirus infections in India, which reached 256,611 nationwide on Monday.

Pakistan hospitals running out of beds as virus cases surge past 100,000
[AlAhram] Pakistan -- and neighbours India and Afghanistan -- have lagged behind Western nations in virus tolls, but experts warn a lack of testing or accurate reporting in rural areas could be hiding true figures.

In recent weeks, however, the country of more than 210 million has reported a sharp rise in new infections, and on Monday the government said more than 100,000 cases and 2,000 deaths had now been recorded.

Last week a leaked government report suggested there were nearly 700,000 infections in Lahore alone.

The Best and Worst Rated National COVID-19 Responses
But, but, but, we were just following the science....
[statista] The extent to which the COVID-19 pandemic has affected countries varies vastly, connected in part to the respective government's handling of the situation. These national responses can be worlds apart - both in terms of efficacy and as survey data from YouGov shows, the subsequent level of public approval, too.

In the UK, where the government's response has been heavily criticised, the net approval rating (calculated by subtracting 'handling badly' from 'handling well' responses) is the joint-lowest of all countries surveyed. Also with a rating of -15 is Mexico, where President López Obrador originally downplayed the severity of the pandemic and is now struggling to find the right balance between prioritizing public health and protecting the economy.

At the other end of the scale, Vietnam has so far recorded just over 300 cases and zero deaths. In contrast to Mexico, Vietnam's 'overreaction' to the crisis is thought to be the reason for the astonishing results achieved so far. To compare to the countries at the bottom of the ranking, Our World in Data figures have the number of deaths per million people for the UK and Mexico at 596.07 and 104.79, respectively.

Countries included in the survey were: Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, UK, USA, Vietnam.

Home Front: Culture Wars
White Cops, Leftists Engage in "Ceremony" of Washing the Feet of Black "Faith Leaders"
[LI] As seems to be the case throughout history, those in the midst of historic events rarely see them clearly or understand their significance in the moment. It takes decades to make sense of things, how they fell apart, what eventually took place to turn the tide, and even then, it’s easy to get it all wrong.

There are, though, those insightful thinkers who do catch on early and attempt to sound the alarm. In many ways, I think Professor Jacobson and Legal Insurrection have been serving this purpose for over a decade; it was, after all, Jacobson who saw the writing on the wall in the different and dangerous tenor of this generation’s college students, who knew we had to cover and expose their campus antics because he knew with his characteristic prescience that they would spill into the real world.

Well, here we are.

Those snowflake college students shutting down all dissent, demanding "safe spaces," and insisting that the world conform to their vision so they don’t have to ever hear ideas that make them feel "unsafe"—whatever that means—have graduated college, entered the workforce, and are demanding that all "wrong thoughts" be censored, removed from the public square, abolished.

Further, they demand that the people holding these wrong, "unsafe" thoughts be canceled: have their lives and livelihoods destroyed beyond repair. In the name of . . . some kind of bizarre cult they’ve created in which God, country, family are sacrificed on the altar of their SJW religious zeal.

We saw signs of this when white regressive cultists bowed down to Black Lives Matters representatives for their great sin, their crime against humanity, of being born white.

CNN Guest: Not Wanting To Be Raped And Robbed Is White Privilege
[Federalist] Minneapolis City Council President Lisa Bender said Americans ought to check their privilege when they voice concerns over the inevitable anarchy that comes from the removal of community law enforcement.

"Do you understand that the word dismantle our police free also makes some people nervous? For instance, what if in the middle of the night my home is broken into? Who do I call?" CNN’s Alisyn Camerota asked Bender on CNN Monday.

"Yes, I mean I hear that loud and clear from a lot of my neighbors — and myself, too, and I know that that comes from a place of privilege, for those of us for whom the system is working," Bender said. "I think we need to step back and imagine what it would feel like to already live in that reality."

Democrat Cities: Fourth-World Scourges
[American Thinker] When the terrorists become bored and cease terrorizing, when the flames are extinguished, when those who died in the riots are buried and cremated, when the shards of glass from storefronts are disposed of, and when livelihoods are permanently lost, Democrats will still run the vast majority of the deadliest and most dangerous cities in the U.S.

Death and destruction always follow Democrat policies and culture. Stagnant local economies. Unsafe streets for children. Gun crime. Failing schools. Breathtaking corruption. Problems with the police. Property crime. Poverty. Poor public health. Single- or no-parent homes. All are found in abundance in Democrat-run cities, and found overwhelmingly in majority-black neighborhoods.

So who are the true "racists"? By every objective measure and metric, Democrat-run cities are the unequivocal worst places in America to live.

Here's a rundown of how long Democrats have monopolized many of our culturally historic cities. Numbers cited are consecutive days and are slightly rounded up or down.

San Francisco: only Democrat mayors and super-majority Democrat; Boards of Supervisors, 14,000; all 11 current supervisors are Democrats;

Baltimore: only Democrat mayors and only Democrat city councils, 19,000;

Oakland: only Democrat mayors and majority Democrat city councils, 15,000; all eight current councilmen are Democrats;

St. Louis: only Democrat mayors and super-majority Democrat Boards of Aldermen, 24,500; all current aldermen are Democrats;

Milwaukee: only Democrat mayors and majority Democrat city councils, 22,000; in the 20th century, three socialist mayors were elected before the 22,000 consecutive days of only Democrat mayors; the city currently has 15 councilmen — all but one are verified Democrats or were endorsed by the Milwaukee County Democratic Party;

Philadelphia: only Democrat mayors and super-majority Democrat city councils, 25,000; if Philadelphia didn't have the Home Rule Charter (requiring a few city council seats to be the "minority party"), which was approved by voters in 1951, it's likely that the city would have been solely Democrat for even longer than Baltimore;

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syria jihadist-regime clashes leave 41 dead
[AlAhram] An al-Qaeda offshoot led an offensive Monday against regime forces in northwest Syria, sparking festivities that left 19 pro-government fighters and 22 jihadists dead, a war monitor said.

"Jihadist factions led by Hurras al-Deen
...the current incarnation of non-Syrian Al Qaeda in Syria...
launched an assault on two villages in Sahl al-Ghab," a region of the central province of Hama, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

They briefly seized the villages of al-Fatatra and al-Manara, Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman said.

But regime forces took them back just hours later amid Russian air strikes and intense shelling, the Britannia-based monitor said.

Abdel Rahman said the festivities left 19 government soldiers and 22 jihadists dead.

The country's official SANA news agency also reported the attack on "two Syrian army positions," saying it involved "explosive-rigged vehicles and jacket wallahs".

Citing a military source, it said the situation was now under control after the jihadists were forced to pull out under regime fire.

The offensive was launched from within the Idlib region, which is controlled by jihadists and rebels and is the last bastion of resistance to Damascus after nine years of devastating civil war.

A truce reached on March 6 has largely stemmed fighting in the region, which Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Oppressor of the Syrians and the Lebs...
has vowed to fully retake.

Hurras al-Deen is a relatively small but powerful gang led by al-Qaeda loyalists.

It is a rival of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else
...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State...
, an alliance of Islamist factions dominated by former members of al-Qaeda's ex-Syria affiliate Jabhat al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli al-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
-- although the two groups cooperate at times.

The Idlib truce brokered by regime ally Russia and rebel backer The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's satrapy in Asia Minor...
has largely kept Syrian and Russian warplanes out of the region's skies.

The calm came as the novel coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
pandemic spread across the Middle East.

Aid groups had warned that an outbreak of the COVID-19 illness in the Idlib region could cause a humanitarian disaster of previously unseen proportions.

International-UN-NGOs
NATO chief defends US amid Germany troop row
[AlAhram] NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
chief Jens Stoltenberg defended America's military commitment to Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
on Monday, following reports President Donald Trump
...the Nailer of NAFTA...
plans to slash troop numbers in Germany.
Berlin has voiced concern at the proposal reported by US media to cut the 34,500 American military personnel posted in Germany by nearly a third.

The move would significantly reduce the US commitment to European defence under the NATO umbrella, and appeared to catch Berlin off guard.

Asked about the plans, Stoltenberg refused to comment directly on "leaks or media speculation" but said he was "constantly consulting" with Washington on its military presence in Europe.

And -- as he often does when pressed about the Trump administration's ambivalence towards NATO -- Stoltenberg launched into a detailed defence of Washington's commitment to European security.

"In the last few years we have actually seen an increase in the US presence in Europe again," he said.

"And this is not only about Germany. We have seen for instance a new US brigade deployed to Europe, we have seen more rotational presence, we have seen the US taking a lead function in the NATO battle group in Poland."

Despite transatlantic political tensions, Stoltenberg insisted that NATO allies were "doing more together now in Europe than we have done for many, many years".

Stoltenberg was speaking in an online question-and-answer session to launch an exchange of expert ideas aimed at strengthening the alliance in the wake of the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
pandemic.

Later Stoltenberg tweeted that he had spoken by phone to Trump on "important security issues".

A NATO official said they "discussed US military posture in Europe, as they always do" but said the call was "long-planned" -- as opposed to being in response to recent events.

There has been no official confirmation about the reported plan to cut US troop numbers in Germany and cap them at 25,000.

But Trump's lukewarm support for longstanding cooperation agreements with European allies has long caused alarm on the continent.

He has been particularly scathing about Germany, Europe's economic powerhouse, accusing it of not spending enough on its own defence.

Germany hosts more US troops than any other country in Europe, a legacy of the Allied occupation after World War II, and while the presence has declined since the Cold War, it remains a crucial hub.

As well as serving as a deterrent to a resurgent Russia, US troops use German bases to coordinate military operations in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Iraq
Over 400 Kurdish Syrian refugees returning to northern Syria
[Rudaw] More than 429 Syrian refugees residing in Bardarash refugee camp have begun returning to their hometowns in northern Syria on Monday, according to the head of the camp.

Located in Duhok province, Bardarash camp is home to 6,528 Syrian refugees, mostly Kurds, who entered the Kurdistan Region in October of last year after The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
launched Operation Peace Spring against Kurdish-led forces in northern Syria.

The facility is managed by the Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF). Bewar Karim, head of the camp located 55 kilometres northeast of Erbil province, told Rudaw English on Monday that more than 429 refugees began returning on buses to their hometowns in northern Syria.

"Today [Monday] at least 429 people left Bardarash camp and returned to their hometowns in Rojava [northern Syria]," Karim said. "The return process was implemented in coordination with the Kurdistan Regional government (KRG) and officials in northern Syria."

Karim revealed that the initial number of people planning to return on Monday was 442, but 13 refugees refused to go back to their hometown due to security reasons.

"Some of the refugees who are returning to Rojava are students who need to attend their schools, some others are babus government employees and need to go back to their hometown before getting sacked," Karim said, using the Kurdish name for north-east Syria.

According to Karim, this is the second group of returnees to depart from the camp.

"This is the second batch of refugees to return to their hometowns in northern Syria from Bardarash camp, between October 16, 2019 and March 1, 2020 at least 850 refugees returned," Karim added.

According to the KRG’s Joint Crisis Coordination Centre (JCC), 20,790 Syrian refugees have entered the Kurdistan Region since October.

ICC: Abbas ripping up Oslo Accords doesn’t change war crimes probe
[IsraelTimes] The prosecutor of the International Criminal Court says Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
...aka Abu Mazen, a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial. While no Yasser Arafat, he has his own brand of evil, just a little more lowercase....
’s statement that the Oslo Accords are no longer valid due to Israeli threats of annexation does not change her view that the "State of Paleostine" can transfer criminal jurisdiction over its territory to The Hague.

In a written statement, Fatou Bensouda says that Abbas’s speech has no bearing "on the status of Paleostine as a State Party to the Rome Statute and on the exercise of the court’s jurisdiction in the situation in Paleostine."

Last month, Abbas said during speech in Ramallah that Paleostine is not bound by any agreements with Israel. After the ICC asked for clarifications regarding the status of the Oslo Accords, the PA said that all agreements will be considered null and void if Israel goes ahead with its annexation plans.

She reiterates her concern over Jerusalem’s stated intention to annex parts of the West Bank, but adds that any such move "has no legal validity and the law of occupation continues to apply."

It is now up to a pre-trial chamber with three judges to rule whether the court has or does not have jurisdiction to proceed with an investigation into war crimes committed in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...

Germany launches terrorism probe over planned attack on Muslims
[DW] Police arrested a 21-year-old suspected right-wing holy warrior after he threatened to kill Moslems in Germany. The man reportedly said he wanted to carry out an attack similar to the deadly Christchurch mosque shootings.
If the state does not take care of maintaining law and order, the citizenry will take it upon themselves.
German authorities arrested a 21-year-old man and launched a terrorism investigation after he threatened to carry out an attack targeting Moslems, prosecutors said on Monday.

The 21-year-old man from the northern city of Hildesheim
...a charming small city in northern Germany, only fifty kilometers from Hannover, with an Islamofascism problem. The mosque there was led until a few years ago by Iraqi Salafist Ahmad Abdulaziz Abdullah A,, a.k.a. Abu Walaa, "the preacher without a face", who with some friends raised funds and volunteers for ISIS...
made the threat in an anonymous online chat forum on May 29, announcing his intention to carry out an attack "with multiple dead," prosecutors in the city of Celle said in a statement.

He referenced the March 2019 Christchurch mosque attack in New Zealand where a gunman killed 51 people, saying that he wanted to carry out a similar attack in Germany.

"The goal was to kill Moslems," prosecutors said.

The man is believed to have been considering carrying out a mass-casualty attack for some time, also seeking to attract worldwide media attention.

During a raid on the man's apartment, police uncovered data files containing right-wing holy warrior content as well as weapons that "may have been purchased to carry out the attack plans."

The suspect was arrested on Saturday and faces a string of charges including threatening to commit criminal offences, disturbing the peace and financing terrorism through purchasing weapons.

Germany has seen several deadly right-wing holy warrior attacks over the past year, with Interior Minister Horst Seehofer at one point calling right-wing terrorism "the biggest danger for democracy in Germany."

In February, a gunman with far-right beliefs killed nine people in the city of Hanau in an attack targeting hookah bars.

Last October, a gunman killed two people in an attack targeting a synagogue in the eastern German city of Halle.

One year ago, pro-immigration CDU politician Walter Lubcke was rubbed out at his come in the central state of Hesse; a neo-Nazi
...adherents of a philosophy that was seen even at the time as pure evil, which makes them either consciously and purely evil, or attention-seeking ratbags. Pick one, or both....
suspect has been charged with this murder.

Appeals court says Trump Muslim travel ban cannot be challenged
[IsraelTimes] A federal appeals court on Monday ordered a lower court to dismiss legal challenges to President Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
’s three-year-old ban on travelers from predominantly Moslem countries, finding that a judge misinterpreted a Supreme Court ruling.
Oh dear. That’s not the kind of remark that makes a personnel file shine when promotions are in the offing.
The ban, put in place just a week after Trump took office in January 2017, sparked an international outcry from Moslem advocates and others who said it was rooted in religious bias.

A three-judge panel of the Richmond-based 4th US Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Monday that a federal judge in Maryland made a mistake when he refused to dismiss three lawsuits, after the Supreme Court upheld the ban in 2018 in a separate case filed in Hawaii.

"We conclude that the district court misunderstood the import of the Supreme Court’s decision in Hawaii and the legal principles it applied," Judge Paul Niemeyer wrote in the unanimous decision.

The Supreme Court ruling had found that the ban has a "legitimate grounding in national security concerns."

During a hearing in January, Mark Mosier, an attorney representing US citizens and permanent residents whose relatives have been unable to enter the US because of the ban, asked the court to allow the legal challenges to proceed.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
General (Retired) Vincent Brooks 'Dismay and Disappointment‐A Breach of Sacred Trust'
Short, revealing Excerpt:
[Harvard Kennedy Center] On my journey, there have been many episodes, painful to remember. In my youth as a military child, in my time at West Point, and in my military career, even during my time as an Army general, I was personally impacted by explicit and implicit bias, as was my father, as were my grandfathers and their fathers. And I observed injustices perpetrated against others, as so many are now witnessing, again, reminding me of the continuing work of becoming "a more perfect union." This part of American culture, this inherent bias, must go away for good.

Disappointment, because a sacred trust has been breached.

Turkish presidency infuriated over raising of ‘Byzantine flag’ over mosque in Cyprus
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Ottoman Turkish presidency described raising the "Byzantine flag" over a mosque in the Cypriot city of Larnaca, as "showing hatred for Islam and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's satrapy in Asia Minor...
," noting that "stopping these attacks is a natural right."

The head of the communication department in the Ottoman Turkish presidency, Fakhreddine Alton, said on Monday via Twitter that "the suspension of the flag on the Tuzla mosque shows the deep grudge and hatred towards Islam and towards Turkey by the people of the distasteful mentalities that inherited shame and attacks on ideas, beliefs and looting. And genocide in the pages of history for thousands of years. "

"Turkey continues with all its might the struggle to transform the region into a zone of peace and security," Alton said, noting that "the epic struggle that Turkey is presenting today in the eastern Mediterranean is an expression of the blessed inspiration it drew from its civilization."

He noted that "Islam, which was a source of peace and security and the horizon of ancient civilization, will continue to enlighten the years and combat all kinds of systematic attacks," saying that "the attack on Islam and Moslems has become an institutional structure that is increasing day by day in the name of the so-called freedom of opinion."

Alton stressed that "stopping the horrendous attacks against Islam and Turkey as soon as is a natural right", stressing that "Turkey is able to rebuild the atmosphere of brotherhood and coexist with all beliefs and religions in the Mediterranean region."

  • She explained George Floyd's death was a 'wake-up call' that the police 'is not keeping every member of our community safe'

  • When asked what will happen if a home is broken into, Bender explained that her worry and expectation police will help comes from a place of privilege

* Donations roll in and are skimmed by handlers.
* Protesters, Rioters, Looters further incited.
* A media staged funeral just before election.
* Fancy casket and speeches.
* 2 more weekends of riots and looting.
* Rev's go straight to the MSM for $$,$$$.
* Media plays it for every angle they can create.
* Slowly the facts about the person criminal record are leaked.
* Mayors continue to milk the issue for 3-4 weeks.
* The local DA schedules court hearings at key points and draws it out leading up the election.
etc.....
* Closer to election it starts up again and the Reverends fly back in to milk it for more MSM Camera time, Interview fees and more donations,

SA-16 GIMLET (Igla-1 9K310) man-portable surface-to-air missile system, a further development from the SA-7 & SA-14 series, is an improved version of the SA-18 GROUSE, which was introduced in 1983, three years before the SA-16.

The SA-16 feattures a new seeker and modified launcher nose cover. Whereas the the SA-18 9M39 missile is fitted with an aerodynamic spike on the nose, the 9M310 missile of the SA-16 has the spike replaced with an aerodynamic cone held in place with a wire tripod. On the SA-18 the protective cover of the seeker is conical, on the SA-16 it is tubular with a prominent lip at the forward edge. The 9M313 missile of the SA-16 employs an IR guidance system using proportional convergence logic, and an improved two-color seeker, presumably IR and UV). The seeker is sensitive enough to home in on airframe radiation, and the two-color sensitivity is designed to minimize vulnerability to flares. The SA-16 has a maximum range of 5000 meters and a maximum altitude of 3500 meters.

Science
COVID-19 virus has properties that have never been found in nature before
[WION] Norwegian and British vaccine scientists have published unequivocal evidence that SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic, is man-made.

The authors state two conclusions: (1) the mutations that would normally be seen in the course of animal to human transmission have not occurred in SARS-CoV-2, indicating that it was fully "pre-adapted" for human infection and (2) SARS-CoV-2 has insertions in its protein sequence that have never been detected in nature and contribute to its infectivity and pathogenicity.

That is, SARS-CoV-2 has a receptor binding domain specifically designed for the human angiotensin converting enzyme-2 receptor (ACE2) found in lungs, kidneys, intestines and blood vessels.

In addition, SARS-CoV-2 has a furin polybasic cleavage site not found in any closely-related bat coronaviruses as well as other artificially inserted charged amino acids that enhance the virus’ ability to bind to and enter human cells by forming "salt bridges" between the virus and the cell surface.

Those modifications are key to understanding the unique transmissibility and potency of SARS-CoV-2.

The authors explain that the COVID-19 pandemic is revealing neurological, haematological and immunological pathogenicity, which cannot be explained by infectivity via the ACE2 receptor alone.

I gave it little thought at the time as that is usually said about every flu shot.

Fifth Column
How Black Lives Matter activists see the future of urban policing
[NYPOST] This is the cop-free world that Black Lives Matter protesters are dreaming about.
Whatcha might call an Emma Goldman world.
Social workers and religious leaders would replace officers on the street — and there would be no crimes such as stealing because the community workers would do such a good job helping everyone, fueled by money redirected from local police departments, advocates claim.
Well, of course. Like they do with the children entrusted to their care from abusive families.
“Right now, cops don’t just respond to violent crimes; they make needless traffic stops,
Drunk drivers, the people who drive 70 mph in residential zones, that sort of thing. What are a few brats run over in the great scheme of things? There's more where they came from.
arrest petty drug users,
... and dealers and importers...
and engage in a wide range of ‘broken windows policing’ behaviors that only serve to keep more people under the thumb of the criminal-justice system,” reads the Web site for the Minneapolis community coalition MPD150.
Broken Windows policing has been shown empirically to work, but if empirical evidence contradicts theory, guess which one goes out the door.
The group — whose name refers to the Minneapolis Police Department and the organization’s “150 year performance review’’ of the cop agency in 2017 — has been calling for the MPD to be dismantled.
So let's put Minneapolis up as a test case and see how it works. I'm sure as hell not moving there. Let us know what the population is in five years, if there's anybody still there alive.
Its efforts gained massive momentum after Minneapolis resident George Floyd’s death May 25, when the 46-year-old black man died in a shocking police-brutality case involving a white cop and three other officers.

Just as the man was using counterfeit bills to feed his drug habit, the social justice complainers want their share of the money to feed their own habits.
These social justice people do not care about crime or even shootings unless law abiding gun owners or the President can be blamed.
I like aggressive cops.
If only an aggressive cop would have been at the Parkland, Florida shooting, he would have taken the active shooter down before he could kill more school children, unlike the coward officer who waited outside the school while the shooting was going on.
But that is the kind of policing these guys like so they never blamed that do nothing officer.
If these greedy social justice people have their way vulnerable school children will be at greater risk in the future.

Joe Biden: Ban Federal Funds for Training Teachers in Firearm Usage
[BREITBART] Democrat presidential hopeful Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...You're a lyin' dog-faced pony soldier...
’s gun control policy statement includes a push to prohibit the use of any federal funds to train teachers in firearm usage for classroom defense.
They don't need no damn training. Let 'em just blast away.
The statement on JoeBiden.com says, "We should be passing rational gun laws, not requiring educators who already have too much on their plates to also protect the safety of their students."
You'd think that it would be rational that anyone who may remotely be required to discharge a gun would be trained to do it, but maybe that's just me.
It goes on to say, "Biden supports barring states from using federal dollars to arm or train educators to discharge firearms."
Art, music, civics, geography, and actual history can be replaced by junk courses, but don't teach teachers how to protect students.
Biden’s Education Plan lists as one of his main goals, "defeat the National Rifle Association," Breitbart News reported.
I'm not sure how a purely partisan political objective fits with an "Education Plan."
Therefore, two aspects of Biden’s approach to education/school safety are no federal funds to train teachers to use firearms for classroom defense, and defeat the NRA.

Rioters in US are linked to ‘terrorists’ in Syria: Erdogan
Sure they are.

[ALMASDARNEWS] Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
stated in a telephone conversation with his American counterpart Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
that those behind the riots in the United States are linked to the Kurdish units in northern Syria.

In a statement to the Ottoman Turkish presidency on Monday, Erdogan expressed his "fears that the elements behind the violence and looting in the United States are linked to the terrorist organization, the People’s Protection Units — Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) operating in northern Syria."

The statement also indicated that Erdogan and Trump discussed bilateral relations and regional issues, including the crisis in Libya.

It is reported that the PKK is classified as a terrorist organization by The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
and the United States.

Ankara considers the "Kurdish People’s Protection Units" in Syria an arm for Kurdish workers, while those units form the nucleus of the "Syrian Democratic Forces", one of Washington’s most prominent allies in Syria, who enjoys American support.

The United States has been experiencing two weeks of massive protests, accompanied by violence, riots and festivities between police and protesters, following the killing of George Floyd at the hands of the police in the state of Minnesota.

After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....

-Lurid Crime Tales-
18 murders in 24 hours: Inside Chicago’s deadliest day in 60 years
Things will get much better after they've defunded the police.
[NYPOST] Eighteen people were killed in reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel...
in a 24-hour span last month — the deadliest day in the Windy City in roughly six decades, according to a report.

The slayings — including a high school student and a college freshman who aspired to become a correctional officer — occurred on May 31 as the city grappled with ongoing civil unrest in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis police custody, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The grim tally made May 31 the single most violent day Chicago has endured in roughly 60 years, according to data provided to the newspaper by the University of Chicago Crime Lab.

"We’ve never seen anything like it, at all," the crime lab’s senior research director, Max Kapustin, told the newspaper. "I don’t even know how to put it into context. It’s beyond anything that we’ve ever seen before."

Data from the lab does not pre-date 1961, but the next-highest single-day murder total in Chicago was on Aug. 4, 1991, when 13 Chicagoans died in homicides, according to the report.

When the entire weekend is taken into context, 25 people were killed citywide from late May 29 through May 31, while another 85 people were hurt by gunfire, the Sun-Times reports, making it the most violent weekend in modern Chicago history.

The two articles on the subject were posted in completely different sections of Rantburg, so I only caught up and put together the first time I woke up this morning. And as both already had comments, I was not willing to delete either one.

Oh, grow up, Mayor Frey: Devine
Rantburg suggestion: Defund city councils
[NYPOST] Minneapolis’ soy boy of a mayor, Jacob Frey, proves that no matter how much you abase yourself to the mob, you can never be woke enough.

In a scene reminiscent of a Maoist struggle session, he stood before two black protest organizers Saturday and confessed through a mask into a microphone that he was "coming to grips with my own brokenness."

But the organizers, standing on a platform above him, weren’t interested in providing therapy for this 38-year-old man-child.

"Yes or no?" asked a woman with a microphone. "Will you commit to defunding the Minneapolis Police Department ... We don’t want no more police."

Poor Frey couldn’t bring himself to say yes, so his fate was sealed.

"Get the f—k out of here!" she snarled, and he was forced into a ritual walk of shame through the jeering crowd as they chanted, "Go home, Jacob!"

The only thing missing was a sign around his neck listing his transgressions.

Frey also made a fool spectacle of himself in front of hundreds of people in a Minneapolis chapel at a memorial service Thursday for George Floyd, the black man whose death under the knee of a white police officer has sparked nationwide protests.

Kneeling beside Floyd’s golden casket, Frey’s body trembled with great heaving sobs, as people nearby looked on in wonderment.

Someone should tell this half-price Justin Trudeau
...hereditary prime minister of the Great White North...
to stop wallowing in his own brokenness and start repairing his broken city.

There is no patience for self-indulgence amid the ruins. If Minneapolis had a grownup mayor instead of a snowflake, the rioting and looting of the past two weeks might have been nipped in the bud and America spared more pain piled on top of the pandemic.

Instead, the nation suffers due to one man’s inadequacies.

Frey is the perfect representative of a Democratic Party that has moved so far left, it is eating itself alive.

I seriously doubt Dem mayors care much about that, nor have the IQ to figure it out even if they were interested.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
No Palestinian state under annexation plan: Netanyahu
[DAILYTIMES.PK] Israel will not approve the establishment of a Paleostinian state as part of its annexation plan, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.
Damn. Shoulda taken that deal of the century.
Netanyahu said the annexation plan for the West Bank will be implemented within a few weeks.

"The annexation plan will not include the establishment of a Paleostinian state, and the government will definitely not approve it," Netanyahu said.

He added that the mapping process for the annexation has not been completed yet.

Israel is expected to annex parts of the occupied West Bank under a plan agreed to by Netanyahu and his rival-turned-ally Benny Gantz, the head of the Blue and White party.

Notably, the Paleostinians want an independent state in the West Bank, east Jerusalem and the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks.
Strip, territories Israel captured in a 1967 Middle East war.
Nah, that’s not notable at all.

Arabia
Rival Saudi-, UAE- backed militants claim advance in southern Yemen
[PRESSTV] Saudi-backed faceless myrmidons loyal to Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
’s former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi have claimed advances in the fight against once-allied UAE-backed faceless myrmidons in southern Yemen, who have denied the claim.

A source in the government of former president Hadi said the Saudi-backed faceless myrmidons captured the city of Ja'ar in the southern province of Abyan
...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues...
on Sunday following fierce festivities with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) separatists.

The source told Anadolu Agency that Abdel-Rahman Shineini, a senior commander of STC hard boys, had been maimed during the fighting.

STC spokesperson Mohammad al-Naqib, however, dismissed the report, saying the UAE-backed faceless myrmidons had repelled an "infiltration attempt" against the city.

"Within half an hour, the infiltrators were eliminated," he said in a tweet.

Yemen's southern regions have witnessed renewed festivities between Saudi-backed faceless myrmidons and STC separatists since the Southern Transitional Council in late April declared a state of emergency and announced "self-administration rule" in Yemen’s southern areas, including the port city of Aden which has served as the seat of Hadi’s regime.

Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
said the declaration violated the Riyadh-brokered agreement which Hadi loyalists and the STC had signed last November to end their power struggle in southern Yemen.

Georgia state trooper tells protesters in viral video: 'I only kneel for ... God'
[FOX] A law enforcement officer in Georgia is going viral after he said he "has much respect" for Black Lives Matter protesters after the death of George Floyd — but he only kneels "for one person."

Georgia State Trooper O'Neal Saddler was allegedly asked to kneel during a demonstration in Hartwell while a bystander was recording.

"If I didn't have any respect, I wouldn't [be here]," Saddler explained. "I was supposed to be out of town this weekend with my wife. I took off today, this weekend, but I'm out here to make sure y'all are safe."

He added, "Don't go there with respect, OK? I have much respect, but I only kneel for one person."

Someone in the crowd replied: "And that's God," which the trooper confirmed: "God."

Man murdered father to get govt job on compassionate basis
"Yer honor, I request mercy from the court on the grounds that I'm an orphan!"
"Yer Mom's still alive!"
"Damn, that's right! She got away!"

[DAILYTIMES.PK] A man allegedly killed his father, Mahabir Sai, in Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur district to get his government job on compassionate grounds, police said on Tuesday. The dear departed worked at a government health centre. "Our probe found Sai was about to retire this week. We zeroed in on his younger son Jeevan who confessed he had killed his father," an officer said. The murder plot was exposed after police officials arrested the victim’s 2 sons for investigation which disclosed the unemployed Polytechnique diploma holder throttled his father, a pump operator of SCCL at their house in Kothur village of Dharmaram mandal in Peddapalli district on May 26.

Indian media reported that Tirupati’s younger brother, 19-year-old Rakesh who is an ITI student, and her mother Tara were also aware of the plan, however, they were not directly involved in the killing.

In order to execute the plan for getting the job on compassionate basis, the man brutally killed Narsaiah by covering the mouth and nose of his father with a towel and throttled him to death in the bed.

Egyptian Army reveals truth about moving forces to Libyan border
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Egyptian Army has been accused of moving its forces to the Libyan border to assist the Libyan National Army (LNA) against the Ottoman Turkish-backed forces.

Citing Egyptian Army sources, RT Arabic revealed that the forces of the northern military zone of the Egyptian army stationed in Alexandria, moved towards the Egyptian-Libyan border to tighten security measures there.

The sources confirmed that the 3rd Army is not responsible for securing this area, as it is located in the Suez region and it is its responsibility to secure the borders there, as some of the forces of the northern region were sent to tighten the procedures there, especially after the Cairo initiative to reach a solution in the Libyan crisis.

The Northern Military Region is one of the four military regions of the Egyptian Armed Forces and its headquarters are located in Alexandria, where it has carried out a number of training activities with the navy and elements of the Special Forces within the framework of the massive "Qader 2020" maneuvers previously launched by Egypt.

On Sunday, social media in Egypt circulated videos said to be of the "3rd Army in Egypt as they were moving west towards the Libyan border."

Fort Polk to become Fort Woke ?
(CNN)US Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy and Secretary of Defense Mark Esper are said to be open to holding a "bipartisan conversation" about renaming nearly a dozen major bases and installations that bear the names of Confederate military commanders, according to an Army official.

The official said that though McCarthy believes he has the potential authority to unilaterally rename the installations, there would need to be consultation with the White House, Congress and state and local governments.

In a statement Monday, the Army confirmed that McCarthy and Esper are "open to a bipartisan discussion on the topic" but added that "each Army installation is named for a soldier who holds a significant place in our military history."

"Accordingly, the historic names represent individuals, not causes or ideologies," the statement said.

Army installations named after Confederate leaders include Fort Bragg in North Carolina, Fort Hood in Texas and Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia.

#7  From Rant-U History Department

During World War I, the policy to name new Southern army camps after Confederate commanders was intended to effect a reconciliation between the North and the South, where bruised feelings about the Lost Cause were potent and widespread. The names were chosen, at least in part, to encourage Southern buy-in to the nation’s new war. These names were chosen precisely because the men honored had been Confederate leaders.
