#3  First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to Fred for choosing Mae West as the "cover girl" for todays "Good Morning" featured artist. I have admired 2 "old time" actresses in my life, virtually since childhood - Mae West & Gene Harlow < What? you say, yes, I was precocious child and adored Mae West for her "Grand Tetons", with dreams of exploring the magnificent mountains as any adventurous teen would, N'est-ce Pas?>

Mae West was an American stage and film actress, playwright, screenwriter, singer, and sex symbol whose entertainment career spanned over seven decades. She was known for her breezy sexual independence, and her lighthearted bawdy double entendres, often delivered in a husky contralto voice.

San Francisco DA Brooke Jenkins fires 15 of Chesa Boudin's staffers
The times, they are a-changing.
[NY Post] San Francisco’s no-nonsense new district attorney is cleaning house — as she reportedly laid off 15 staffers inherited from her booted, woke predecessor.
Whoa!
The firings Friday by Brooke Jenkins come nearly two weeks after she was appointed district attorney by Mayor London Breed following the recall of her much-maligned predecessor Chesa Boudin, according to SFGATE.com.
The wise politicians tracks and responds to changes in the mood of the public. The technical term is keeping a finger on the pulse...
"Today, I made difficult, but important changes to my management team and staff that will help advance my vision to restore a sense of safety in San Francisco by holding serious and repeat offenders accountable and implementing smart criminal justice reforms," Jenkins said in a statement.

Jenkins dropped the firing ax on most the 25 staffers who worked for Boudin, days after holding a 20-minute introductory meeting with them that some attendees described as "uncomfortable" and "icy," SFGATE.com also reported.

The staffers fired include Arcelia Hurtado, who had worked as managing attorney and served as the DA Office’s representative on the city’s Innocence Commission, which investigates potential wrongful convictions.

Boudin established the commission in 2020. Jenkins told KQED Thursday she intends to continue it.

Report: Saudi Arabia Doubling Purchases of Cheap Russian Oil
[Breitbart] That’s one way to meet President Biden’s demand that Saudi Arabia provide more oil to offset Russia sanctions. MBS clearly does not like him.

#2  The insults are not even subtle. Peace is maintained by being powerful and credible. Worldwide, public opinion is that the US is rapidly declining in both areas, prompting more confrontational and provocative acts. This at a time when the Puppet Show is in panic mode and reactive on a far too emotional, simplistic level.
This is a very dangerous time...

#6  They should be required to paint a clown face on the front of Air Farce One. The Puppet Show insults a needed ally to help offset the Iranian menace, the Saudi's create a scheme to get more profit by mixing cheaper Russian Oil with theirs, hence circumventing the "sanctions" crushing our own economy, and we will have to buy this "increased production" gimmick caused by the moronic clowns that inhabit this administration.
Masterful stupidity, Jojo, even by Biden standards of the past.

#11  This is the relevant bit:

Riyadh has recently indicated a reluctance to increase its oil production, an action unofficially sought by Western leaders including U.S. President Joe Biden to reduce record-high fuel prices in countries such as the U.S.

Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman said on March 29 that attacks on Saudi oil facilities by Yemen’s Houthi terrorists in previous days had compromised Riyadh’s ability to provide the world with sufficient fuel supplies.

The Saudi energy minister referenced “attacks by Yemen’s Iran-backed Huthi rebels on Saudi oil facilities, including a wave of drone and missile strikes on Friday [March 25],” AFP reported at the time.

Bin Salman said the nefarious acts had “put into question our ability to supply the world with the necessary energy requirements.”

I've never understood the Western reluctance to help the Saudis crush the Houthis. Thanks to Dubya, Iraq is now a Iranian puppet state to the north of Saudi Arabia. The Houthis exist as a fighting force only because of the Iranians. Their victory means another Iranian puppet state to Saudi Arabia's south. Will the West only be happy if the Persian empire invades and incorporates all of the Gulf states? Is this part of the West's plan to phase out fossil fuels, by giving a greater Iran a 1/3 share of the world's oil supplies, thereby spiking oil prices to levels previously unimaginable?

#12  certainly true that Iran has some influence in Iraq and is trying to increase that influence

but much of the population in Iraq detests Iran and the more Iran pushes the more the detestation.

Followers of Muqtada al-Sadr had a big rally a few days ago. The theme was very anti Iran especially regarding the various militias inside Iraq that are supported by Iran.

Of course Muqtada can change his mind any day and then change it back again the next week but for at least the past few years he has been consistently anti Iran.

Iranian-sponsored militias in Iraq are a state within a state. Apart from US fire support, they claim to be the key factor in turning back ISIS in Iraq. Note that the Iraqi army was *unable* to do so. A militia force that is able to do what the army cannot is equally able to subdue that army. Iranian militias in Iraq are pretty close to having the power that Hezbollah does in Lebanon. The one thing holding them back from hosting more Iranian missile strikes on Saudi Arabia is perhaps the fear that the Saudis will start financing ISIS remnants (on the principle that the enemy of my enemy ...) and perhaps even stage an incursion or two into Iraq.

The Democrat policy is to punish friends (e.g. Saudis and Israelis) and reward enemies (e.g. Iran). Increasingly many countries are starting to see the US as a dangerous friend. Whatever happened to realism (i.e. he's a bastard, but he's our bastard)? As long as they don't annex neighboring countries, what the heck are we doing getting into their business? The Saudis are basically trying to prevent the Iranians from adding Yemen to their empire, same as their opposition in the 60's in North Yemen to the Egyptian-sponsored revolt.

Putin's Ukraine ‘Operational Pause' Looks Dead
[19Fortyfive] On day 143 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the fighting in the Donbas is starting to flare up again as the Russian military has increased its offensive operations in the area.

THE SITUATION IN THE DONBAS, UKRAINE
In its daily estimate of the war, the British Ministry of Defense focused on the fighting in the Donbas and how the current situation favors the Ukrainian military.

“Russian offensive operations remain reduced in scope and scale, with fighting west of Lysychansk focussed on Siversk and Bakhmut. This is despite Russian claims to have entered the outskirts of Siversk town earlier in the week,” the British Military Intelligence assessed.

“Russia has previously made premature and false claims of success. This is likely at least in part aimed at demonstrating success to domestic audiences and to reinforce the morale of the fighting forces,” the British Ministry of Defense added.

Something that we have covered before here at 19FortyFive is that despite the Russian advances of the past couple of weeks, the current situation actually favors the Ukrainian defenders before the frontlines have shrunk and straightened. Whereas before, during the battles for Severodonetsk and Lysychansk, the Russian forces were attacking from five and six directions, now they can only do so from three, thus making it easier for the Ukrainian forces to defend.

“Ukrainian defence has been successful in repulsing Russian attacks since Lysychansk was ceded and the Ukrainian defensive line was shortened and straightened. This has allowed for the concentration of force and fires against reduced Russian attacks and has been instrumental in reducing Russia’s momentum,” the British Military Intelligence assessed.

RUSSIAN CASUALTIES IN UKRAINE
The Russian military continues to suffer heavy casualties in Ukraine, and the Kremlin is hard to put to replace the men it has lost. Moscow is increasingly relying on ad hoc measures to bolster its combat forces on the frontlines. The Kremlin has been providing financial incentives in order to attract more volunteers to the military and has even gone as far as to declare civilians who have fought in the war as veterans, giving them prestige and benefits. Of course, no ordinary civilian would find himself in a warzone. So, this new legislation is aimed at mercenaries who are fighting with Russian private military companies.

Inside Josephine Baker's danger filled life as a resistance spy during WWII
[New York Post] As Josephine Baker moved through international checkpoints in Spain and Morocco, the dancer and singer teased the agents who asked to see her papers, saying they just wanted her "autograph."

Her official story was that she was on a "tour of Spain." She was really working as a spy for the resistance, with state secrets neatly hidden in her bra.

Baker took a gamble that no one would dare to strip-search her. She smiled her famous smile — she was at the time the most photographed woman in the world — as the documents stayed "snugly in place, secured by a safety pin."

Baker’s role as one of the true heroes of World War II, fighting against the Nazis at great risk to herself, is detailed in the new book "Agent Josephine: American Beauty, French Hero, British Spy" (PublicAffairs) by Damien Lewis. In 1961, she received a Legion D’Honneur, France’s highest decoration for military service, for her Spain and Morocco mission, and was commended for retrieving "precious information."

Ron Klain Descends Into Delusion to Redefine Joe Biden's No Good, Awful, Very Bad Week
[Red State] I think it’s safe to say that Joe Biden had a bad week.

Joe Biden hit historic low approval levels, going under 30 percent for the first time in a Civiqs poll, with even his Democratic numbers going south. On top of that, Democrats were in disarray over him, throwing him under the bus. Even the NY Times admits there are issues now, citing concerns from the White House staff from his shuffling gait to his cognitive abilities.

Meanwhile, the CPI went to 9.1 percent and the PPI indicated that inflation was likely to continue with an 11.3 percent number, the worst since 1981. White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain had predicted in 2021 that inflation would be at 2.1 in 2022. That didn’t age well, and showed how clueless the Biden team is. But they indicate that they just want to spend even more.

A reporter asked Biden about a poll showing two-thirds of Democrats don’t want him to run again, and Biden flipped out on the reporter, arguing that wasn’t true. Even CNN busted Biden on this lie.

A rereading of the 25th Amendment reveals some interesting clues. Clearly, when the Presidency becomes vacant, whether by death or inability, the Vice President becomes President. What disastrous consequences an unchecked Harris Presidency might create is a different conversation. But regarding the Vice Presidential vacancy, the 25th is clear:

"In response to the second question, regarding vice-presidential vacancies, Section 2 of the Twenty-Fifth Amendment requires the President to nominate a replacement Vice President when that office becomes vacant, subject to confirmation by a majority of both the House and Senate.".

Given the high probability of a Red Wave in November, the demokrats lose a lot of choice in creating a Vice President for the 2024 election, and Harris is an impossible choice to lead the ticket. But here is the secret fig leaf to dump her. The Constitution, as amended, states:

Article II states: “The electors shall meet in their respective states, and vote by ballot for two persons, of whom one at least shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves.”

If Biden is removed from office prior to the installation of a new Congress in January 2025, a simple demokrat majority in both houses will allow a Newsome Vice Presidency, and the party can use the Article II prohibition to dump Kamala pro forma from the 2024 ticket. Additionalky, it sets up the perfect Newsome campaign meme. If she is impeached by a Republican Congress for cause (impossible to imagine she would not be given her performance to date), it creates the storyline that "Republican white supremacy" was the cause of her removal, playing the race care endlessly to drown out the disastrous performance of the Biden-Harris Administration.

What other explanation fits the timing of the visit to Dr. Jill, except the quid pro quo of the move to power and the Newsome promise of protection for the Puppet Show principals after their departure from power?

The black-opal hunters of outback Australia
[Aljazeera] Sebastian Deisenberger leaned over the table in his garden, at his home on the edge of the Australian outback, his eyes glistening. He was explaining his obsession with rare black opals and why he uprooted his life in Germany to mine them.

Finding opals is "one of the best feelings you can get," he said. "It took a hundred million years to form and come to that stage and then you’re the first one who sees that."

Deisenberger is one of a few hundred full-time miners in Lightning Ridge, Australia, home to the black opal, one of the most sought-after gemstones in the world. They are only found in two places: this remote corner of the world and Ethiopia. And they can fetch a lot of money.

The most valuable one ever found, the Aurora Australis discovered in 1938, is worth about $1m today. But even less famous black opals have a spell-binding allure. Some stones contain just a few of the gem's potential colours - peacock blue, soft, feathery white, shards of green or deep blood-red. Others ripple with all the hues of the rainbow, and all against a jet-black base.

Elites finally reveal their #1 enemy: CHRISTIANS
[WND] Two shocking and unprecedented megatrends are unfolding simultaneously in the United States of America right now.

The first is the explosion of what can only be described as openly predatory targeting of America’s children by legions of "gender activists" obsessed with seducing, grooming and recruiting kids into the phantasmagoric transgender world of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, surgical amputation of healthy body parts and astronomical suicide rates.

Incredibly, this wild celebration of transgenderism is being praised, promoted and funded by the ruling class at the highest levels, from the White House on down, while all who sound the alarm are demonized and canceled.

Major Study Confirms COVID Vaccines Alter Women's Periods
[ZERO] Since Covid vaccines first became available more than a year and a half ago, women have been sounding alarms about the shots' adverse effect on their menstruation.

For example, in an August 2021 article at The Grayzone that criticized the U.S. medical establishment's failure to study the effects of the vaccines on women's reproductive systems, Marcie Smith Parenti recounted disturbing experiences from her own circle of friends:
Their symptoms have included hemorrhagic bleeding lasting more than a month; heavy intermittent bleeding for four months; passing golf-ball size clots of blood; and extreme cramping, serious enough to land one friend in the ER.

On social media, the The Grayzone was accused of "fearmongering," being "anti-vax," and peddling "dangerous disinformation." Meanwhile, the response of the FDA and CDC to women's pleas might be best characterized as a bureaucratic shrug.

Something else to add to the growing list of VAX documented issues. Issues that many of us were called crazy, paranoid, delusional, conspiracy theory nuts, & etc. for not trusting the DC Swamp's hastily produced Faux-Science data narrative to support their Political-Social Agenda. Data that we have since found out excluded adverse reaction data to get emergency FDA/CDC approval.

SUMMARY:
Despite the DC Elitists attempted clamp downs, ridicule, blackballing of researchers and actual aggressive Social Media censorship of real data. More and more studies, based on actual Science data, are finally seeing the light of day.

The VAX has major issues.

Tired of Trump: Trump suffers huge fundraising dip, falls below DeSantis for 2022
[Washington Examiner] Donald Trump appears to be losing steam among Republican voters after his fundraising numbers have experienced a dip over the last few months — positioning himself behind Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has surpassed the former president in donations.

Trump raked in at least $36 million during the first six months of 2022, a decrease from the $56 million he made during the same time period the year before, according to his campaign finance filings. The new numbers mark the first time Trump has raised less than $50 million in any six-month period since leaving the White House, and they put him below DeSantis, who raised about $45 million in the first half of this year, records show.

Trump’s numbers may be slightly higher, as the tallies don’t include numbers raised from Trump’s Save America PAC that will be released later this month. The political action committee has raised at least $23,000 so far this quarter from WinRed, a Republican fundraising platform.

There are limitations to comparing the two, as DeSantis is up for reelection, whereas Trump is not actively campaigning. But some strategists say it might be an indication of fatigue among GOP voters toward the former president.

Trump’s fundraising has slowed in recent months, falling to an average of $200,000 a day in the last four months compared to about $300,000 a day in September, according to filings with WinRed. But this may be because donors are turning their attention to more urgent races as Republicans seek to gain control of Congress in November rather than to Trump, who has not yet announced any candidacy plans.

Despite the lull in fundraising, Trump remains the favored candidate among GOP voters in a hypothetical matchup between other potential Republican nominees. Nearly 50% said they would vote for Trump if the GOP presidential primary was held today, with 25% saying they would back DeSantis, according to a poll by the New York Times and Siena College.

Maybe Trump does not need more $$$$ than DeSantis?

Note:
With Trump only allowed to hold office 1 more term.
DeSantis taking an initial VP slot on a Trump/DeSantis Admin can be seen as a win win. Since, VP's are already in a better position of running and winning over challengers. This would then allow 12 years of sanity and morality in the WH.

Don't Bang on My Teakettle
[American Thinker] There’s a Yiddish expression -- Hak mir nisht keyn tshaynik! It means "don’t bang on my teakettle." Apparently when you went to see someone and they were in the field, workshop or barn, you banged on their teakettle to summon them. So the expression means, don’t bother me.

Each day when I check my emails, there are at least 20 messages with the header "disturbing" or some like word designed to get me agitated enough to contribute something to the sender.

Honestly, I’m disturbed enough about the state of the world that I don’t need more things to get disturbed about. For starters, there’s rising inflation with no discernible end in sight. There’s a horrible war in Ukraine with enormous destruction and loss of life. People are starving in Sri Lanka as a result of idiotic "green" agriculture mandates which are undoing there and soon elsewhere the marvels of Borlaug’s Green Revolution where the use of manufactured fertilizers and crops bred to be disease-resistant were making national famines a thing of the past.
Perhaps because of the seven years he spent living in America during the late 1990s and early 2000s, Mr. Rajapaksa was in thrall to green nostrums. He campaigned for president in 2019 on a platform that promised a form of technocratic utopia, including the commitment to turn Sri Lankan agriculture completely organic in a decade. He was particularly attentive to Vandana Shiva, a rabid Indian opponent of modern scientific agriculture. She considers Borlaug the enemy.

Covid hit Sri Lanka particularly hard, wiping out tourism, its economic mainstay. Heedless of this calamity, and of the wider impoverishment caused by lockdowns, Mr. Rajapaksa took a step that poleaxed Sri Lanka. On April 27, 2021 -- with no warning, and with no attempt to teach farmers how to cope with the change -- he announced a ban on all synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. Henceforth, he decreed, Sri Lankan agriculture would be 100% organic. Agronomists and other scientists warned loudly of the catastrophe that would ensue, but they were ignored. This Sri Lankan Nero listened to no one. [snip]

Lost in all the ideological ululation was another likely explanation for Mr. Rajapaksa’s action: So debt-ridden was Sri Lanka -- to China, in particular -- that he may have decided to forgo imported fertilizer and pesticide as a money-saving measure.

What happened next? Rice production fell by 20% in the first 180 days of the ban on synthetic fertilizer. Tea, Sri Lanka’s main cash crop, has been hit hard, with exports at their lowest level in nearly a quarter-century. Whether from indignation over the new laws or an inability to go organic, farmers left a third of all farmland fallow. Food prices soared as a result of scarcity and Sri Lanka’s people, their pockets already hit by the pandemic, began to go hungry. To add to the stench of failure, a shipload of manure from China had to be turned back after samples revealed dangerous levels of bacteria. The farmers had no synthetic fertilizer, and hardly any of the organic kind.
The people of Sri Lanka learned a sad lesson -- mandated "organic farming" proved a horrible disaster. The people of Ghana also face starvation and national collapse as a result of green policies (and government corruption). Farmers in the Netherlands are striking in protest of equally unworkable green mandates on agriculture.

Just as absurd is the notion of zero carbon emissions. Germany is rationing conventional fuels and distributing wood and urging householders to burn it. I anticipate that will be insufficient to keep Germans warm this winter. I suppose the nitwits who shut down the country’s nuclear and coal plants will blame climate change for the deaths and misery, but I bet that won’t long work for them.

To prove the stupidity of this blinkered objective, China is fast constructing more coal plants, plants likely (given Communist countries’ penchant for production over environmental concerns) to be emitting not just carbon but the unhealthy emissions which had already been scrubbed from U.S. and western European coal plants.

Not disturbing enough for you? There’s a doddering head of state here and removing him would leave an equally feckless vice president in charge. A man who armed the Taliban in an ill-planned pullout of our troops in Afghanistan. A man who has ignored U.S. immigration law and common sense to leave our Southern border wide open, a man who opened the floodgates on our diminished treasury which only fired-up inflation. A man who selected as his Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, a dimwit who promises to spend our money fighting "racist" highways while doing nothing to ease the supply chain shortages. The President leaves in place the head of the FDA who with one stroke could lift the restrictions on baby formula from Canada and Europe to ease the shortage the agency itself foolishly caused by shutting down our major production facility for no good reason.

#1  If after nearly two years, my observations are correct, any "Doddering" or feckless leadership must be ascribed as a cover for the agendas of Rice and Klain. They are the shadow government, the ones who are actually in charge. The first black President has been closely followed by the first black female President. You can say it isn't so, but the cloaking of both Rice and Klain by the media provides a telling confirmation.

The helpless Biden and Harris are little more than Kabuki theater. Real power and authority clearly lies elsewhere.

#2  What's strange is don't these idiots realize that there's a reason people switched to synthetic fertilizer? Like maybe more output and less disease?

NYC teen who accidentally shot himself finally locked up after 4th arrest in 9 months
[NYPOST] A teen who was twice charged with possessing loaded handguns got treated with kid gloves both times under the state’s controversial "Raise the Age" law — allowing him to allegedly use another weapon to accidentally shoot himself in his bedroom, The Post has learned.

But even the self-inflicted wound wasn’t enough to get reputed gang member Rodney Sanders of Brooklyn locked up, which only happened after his fourth gun arrest in less than nine months, according to law enforcement sources.

"What does it take for politicians to realize some people should not be treated as minors?" one Brooklyn cop fumed.

"Do they have to shoot someone besides themselves?"

Sanders, 17, is an alleged member of the Bloods-affiliated "Miller Made Crew" of about 30 teens who live in the area around his apartment on Miller Avenue in East New York, sources said.

"He likes carrying guns," said a Brooklyn cop familiar with Sanders’ case.

Sanders was first arrested on Oct. 17 while allegedly in possession of a loaded gun and again on March 1 after cops allegedly found two loaded guns while carrying out a court-authorized search of his bedroom, sources said.

Following both busts, Sanders his cases diverted to Family Court and was released from custody under the 2017 "Raise the Age" law thon the lamly ended criminal prosecutions of teens younger than 18 charged with misdemeanors and non-violent mostly peaceful felonies, sources said.

Notorious cartel leader captured in Mexico; awaits extradition to U.S.
[WASHINGTONTIMES] An infamous narco and convicted killer who occupied a spot on the FBI’s top 10 most wanted list was arrested by Mexican naval forces on Friday.

Rafael Caro-Quintero, who is considered a founder of the Guadalajara cartel, was captured by Mexican marines after a search dog found him hiding in the brush near the town of San Simon in the country’s northwestern state of Sinaloa, according to multiple reports.

The drug lord was a major player in cocaine, marijuana and heroin trafficking into the U.S. in the 1970s, and is notorious in U.S. law enforcement circles for orchestrating the kidnapping, torture and killing of DEA Special Agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena in 1985.

Camarena’s death came after a DEA raid destroyed millions of dollars worth of marijuana owned by the Guadalajara cartel in 1984.

Camarena’s murder was a low point in U.S.-Mexico relations, and caused the border between the two nations to be closed for several days. The Louisville Courier-Journal reported that the public pressure inside Mexico became so high that the cartel eventually returned Mr. Caramena’s body to U.S. authorities.

Israel freezes move to let in 1,500 more Gazan workers after overnight rocket fire
[IsraelTimes] Israel freezes a move that would expand the quota of work permits for Gazook Paleostinians to 15,500, after murderous Moslems in the coastal enclave launched four rockets toward southern Israel overnight.

Israel’s military liaison to the Paleostinians, widely known by its acronym COGAT, announced Tuesday that an additional 1,500 permits would be added to the quota.

But following the rocket attacks, Defense Minister Benny Gantz has decided to freeze the move, COGAT says.

"The Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", terror group bears responsibility for everything that is done in and emanates from the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip towards the State of Israel, and it will bear the consequences," the statement says.

Udaipur killing: NIA court sends 3 accused to Ajmer Jail
The Indian authorities taking the excuse to deal with not only actual miscreants, but those who show themselves interested in misbehaving before they move to actual violence — the Indian version of Broken Window Theory.
[OneIndia] An NIA court on Saturday sent three of the accused in Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal's murder case to Ajmer jail.

The court had earlier sent three of them--Riaz Akhtari, Ghouse Mohammad and Farhad Mohammad Sheikh--to police custody till July 16. The four others, identified as Mohmamad Mohsin, Wasim Ali, Asif and Mohsin were sent to judicial custody till August 1.

Kanhaiya Lal was killed by cleaver-wielding Riaz Akhtari and Ghouse Mohammad at his shop on June 28 in the Udaipur's Dhan Mandi cop shoppe area over a controversial post on social media. The accused had posted a grisly video of the crime online.

Two days later, Mohsin and Asif were arrested. They were allegedly involved in the conspiracy of the killing and had conducted a recce of Kanhaiya's shop.

The NIA later arrested Mohammad Mohsin, Wasim Ali and Farhad Mohammad Sheikh on different dates.

NIA had said it suspects the role of a "terror gang and not a terror outfit". The anti-terror agency, however, made it clear that there is a role of a bigger gang behind the brutal killing and that it was not just an act done by only two persons, who were arrested by state police after the incident.

Until it comes out: Gaidai spoke about the situation in the Luhansk region
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Vesti] At the moment, fierce battles are going on in the Luhansk region in two settlements. On Saturday evening, July 16, the military head of the Lugansk regional administration, Leonid Gaidai, spoke about this. Thus, he partially refuted the words of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Shoigu about complete control over the Lugansk region.

"I can say - yes, they control most of the region, but fierce battles are going on in two settlements , they cannot get through there, they are losing both personnel and a huge amount of equipment. The assaults are constant, but so far nothing has come of them," - said Gaidai on Ukrainian television.

According to Gaidai, the Russian army wants to regroup and continue to storm Bakhmut from different sides, but today these attempts have been unsuccessful. The head of the region confirmed that now the enemy is delivering resources (equipment, ammunition, etc.) immediately to the front line, they have no "short shoulder" because of the executions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, enemy warehouses.

And it did us good, because the number of attacks decreased. At the same time, the enemy’s DRGs were weakened or liquidated, the head of the Luhansk region noted and emphasized that the enemy forcibly mobilizes all men in the occupied territories and is experiencing problems with working personnel. Even the miners are given rides at night.

There are no opportunities for evacuation from the settlements of the region controlled by the Ukrainian authorities yet - the density of shelling does not allow, Gaidai specified.

Kapets and agreements: Arestovich comments on Putin's ultimatum
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Vesti] Aleksey Arestovich , adviser to the head of the President's Office, believes that all Putin's latest assurances are part of psychological pressure to enter Minsk-3. The situation on the fronts is not one in which the Russian leader can dictate any ultimatums, he notes. " If you can make us a mess, why negotiate with us?" - figuratively explained the adviser.

Arestovich recalled that in 2014 the Russian Federation brilliantly carried out an information-psychological operation, fixing successfully for itself everything that it could demand by political means, just at the moment when the possibilities for a further offensive were exhausted. This is how "Minsk-1" appeared, and the Kremlin is now striving for the same development of events. " If they could advance further, they would have captured more ... That's where they were stopped, they signed. History is repeating itself now, like a carbon copy. They understand that they have reached a plateau, they may have tactical successes, but the strategic perspective ," the source said. Moreover, as Western weapons arrive in Ukraine, the situation will turn not in their favor, Arestovich specifies.

He also expressed the opinion that now the media activity of the Russian Minister of War Shoigu and other statements indicate that the war in Ukraine is "slipping" for the Russian leadership, but no one knows the reaction of Russian society to the defeat of the Russian Federation.

At the same time, Arestovich emphasized that he separates the leadership and people of the Russian Federation. Again, rather figuratively, the adviser claims that "we have a plan, we are following the plan," and the leadership of the Russian Federation "we will throw off together, and we will agree with the peoples of the Russian Federation."

Who will actually bring Ukraine to collapse
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[RIA Novosti] Serious contradictions have arisen between the President of Ukraine and the leadership of the General Staff, local media report. There were rumors of a military coup in Kyiv back in March, but then Volodymyr Zelensky kept the situation under control. However, as the UAF retreated, the internal conflict intensified.

The popularity of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny skyrocketed after Russia withdrew its troops from the Kyiv region. They saw in him a model of the defender of the motherland and almost the first handsome man of the country.

Since spring, analysts have been saying that Zaluzhny could seriously compete with Zelensky in the presidential election. The head of state is jealous of fellow citizens for the commander-in-chief, media say.

According to one version, this is why representatives of the Zelensky team since the beginning of June, one after another, talk about the catastrophic losses of the Ukrainian army: 500 killed and wounded per day, now - a thousand.

In addition, the president publicly attacked Zaluzhny with criticism of the supply of troops. Allegedly, the journalists told him that the soldiers did not have enough personal protective equipment, and the command did not see any problems.

Zaluzhny’s “support group” indicated that the equipment should be handled by the Ministry of Defense, the department of Alexei Reznikov, Zelensky’s ally. In response, there were voices in the President's Office that the general's entourage was manipulating him in their own selfish interests.

Differences in strategy
The Ukrainian media periodically discuss disagreements between the military and political leadership over the hostilities. For example, the commander-in-chief allegedly demanded the withdrawal of troops from Lisichansk and Severodonetsk, while the head of state, on the contrary, wanted to hold the city to the end.

A similar situation was with Azovstal in Mariupol and other important sectors of the front. The Ukrainian military recorded video messages complaining about poor supplies, low training of officers, and obviously impossible orders. Aleksey Arestovich, an adviser to the head of the President's Office, said that there are "many complaints" against the military command.

Volunteers accused Arestovich of "political dice", an attempt to shift the responsibility for the defeat to the army. The head of the Come Back Alive Foundation, Taras Chmut, recalled how Zelensky assured three months before the start of the special operation that there would be no hostilities with Russia. Vitaly Shabunin, head of the anti-corruption center, said that if Arestovich was not fired, his criticism of the Armed Forces of Ukraine would be regarded as an order from the President's Office. Well-known Ukrainian journalist Yuriy Butusov suggests that Zelensky's team is attacking the General Staff more than once in order to evade responsibility.

Everything for the front
In early July, the General Staff forbade men fit for service to leave their place of residence. "Your country needs you!" - announced the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, despite the fact that the Ukrainian media regularly report about overcrowded military registration and enlistment offices and an unprecedented rise in patriotism, people responded to the call with a wave of discontent.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi and Romanian President Klaus Iohannis in Kyiv

In the Zaporozhye region, women, protecting their husbands and sons, did not let the military commissars into the village. Volunteers and businessmen who need to constantly move around the country were outraged. They talked about the return of serfdom.

Zelensky intervened, promised to look into everything and publicly asked the General Staff not to make such decisions on their own anymore. Arestovich added that "war is too serious a matter to be entrusted to the military."

A couple of days later, Zaluzhny canceled the order and sent it back for revision. At the same time, he complained that various forces were manipulating his idea to discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The security forces are not going to refuse to toughen the mobilization. On the contrary, as Sergei Bratchuk, spokesman for the operational headquarters of the Odessa Regional Military Administration, said, if the fighting drags on, most of the men and a significant part of the women will join the ranks.

But the political leadership fears a revolt. Ukrainians who are far from the front line are trying to live as if nothing had happened. The order of the General Staff could change everything.

Military dictatorship
There are certain difficulties between Zelensky and Zaluzhny, but so far they are far from critical, says political analyst Rostislav Ishchenko. Otherwise, the president would raise the question of the resignation of the commander-in-chief. Nevertheless, it is clear that Zelensky is ready to blame the military for Ukraine's plight.

“When the General Staff forbade men to leave their place of residence, he acted in accordance with the law, which says that permission from the military registration and enlistment office is required to move. But people took it sharply, so Zelensky once again demonstrated his love for the people,” the expert notes.

"More and more dissatisfied." Is Ukraine facing another coup?
The president solves political problems, and for this he sometimes has to act against the wishes of the military command, recalls Vladimir Zharikhin, deputy head of the Institute of CIS Countries. The difference between desires and possibilities is especially intensified when the army is defeated.

"In the military environment, they increasingly understand that Zelensky focuses primarily on the United States, and not the interests of the country. However, it is not at all a fact that this discontent can result in something. American advisers tightly control the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they are able to quickly expose any conspiracy," he is sure.

In his opinion, the US can make Zaluzhny the favorite only as a last resort. No matter how bad a president Zelensky is, he is a legitimately elected one. The military junta that removed him will be illegitimate. In the end, this will lead to the final collapse of Ukraine.

Foreign peace monitors depart southern Philippines after nearly 2 decades
[BenarNews] A Malaysian-led international peace monitoring group has departed from the southern Philippines after the administration of Rodrigo Duterte, who left office late last month, decided their presence was no longer needed, officials said Friday.

The peacekeeping force, known as the International Monitoring Team (IMT) and tasked with safeguarding a ceasefire agreement between the Philippine government and former Moro Islamic Liberation Front guerrillas, departed the country from Cotabato City to little fanfare last month. The monitors had operated in the southern Mindanao region for nearly two decades.

Naguib Sinarimbo, a front man for the former MILF rebels, confirmed the withdrawal to BenarNews and said the IMT wanted to alter some of the terms of their agreement. He did not elaborate.

"While it has not yet been resolved, they have decided to pull out their contingent. Their authority to stay has also expired," Sinarimbo said. He said IMT could operate again in the Philippines subject to a government review.

The IMT, commanded by Maj. Gen. Hamdan Ismail, officially pulled out at the end of June.

In a message before his departure, which was made available to the press on Friday, Ismail said the bond between the Philippines and Malaysia had grown stronger since IMT’s stay in Mindanao.

"I wish that your dreams and my dreams of achieving lasting peace in this part of the region can be realized in the near future," Ismail added.

The Moro Islamic Liberation Front signed a peace agreement with the central government in 2014, ending its long-running separatist insurgency in Mindanao. Malaysia had brokered the peace negotiations, and its participation evolved to include the monitoring of the interim ceasefire pact forged by both sides about two decades ago.

Representatives from Libya, Brunei, and Japan were included in the Malaysian-led mission, which also monitored the humanitarian, rehabilitation and development aspects of the grinding of the peace processor. The peacekeeping contingent also ensured the protection of civilians in areas where the rebels operated.

Brig. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete, who headed the government’s ceasefire team, expressed the administration’s gratitude for the IMT’s peacekeeping efforts in Mindanao.

"Thank you very much. We recognized the IMT’s invaluable contribution in sustaining the gains of the Bangsamoro grinding of the peace processor as the team nears the end of its tour of duty," he said.

WHAT WILL MARCOS DO?
It remains unclear whether Duterte’s successor, Ferdinand Marcos Jr., will extend IMT’s peacekeeping tenure.

Critics say his father and namesake, the Philippines’ longtime dictator, led massive military drives in the south and many people either died or disappeared during his time in office from 1965 to 1986.

The former rebels, for one, campaigned against Marcos Jr. Its leader, Murad Ebrahim (whose real name is Ahod Balawag Ebrahim), had blamed Marcos’ father and the military under the late dictator of ransacking Moslem areas and massacring entire communities. The Moro Islamic Liberation Front was formed, in part, to fight these alleged atrocities, while also seeking independence.

The IMT’s strength at one time stood at 60, but it gradually decreased as tension and fighting reduced and peace began to take hold. In March, the government informed the IMT it would no longer extend the mission.

The front’s ceasefire chief, Butch Malang, said the organization remains committed as ever in strengthening the joint peace mechanisms.

"We also take this opportunity to strengthen further our common commitment, teamwork, and dedication to work together with all our partners for a stronger proactive ceasefire accord during the post-agreement period of the grinding of the peace processor between the government and the MILF," said Malang.

"The MILF’s adherence to the ceasefire has been a gradual success but was collectively realized due to the strong cooperation and partnership of security forces, local governments, and communities on the ground," he added.

tl:dr; We had to shoot a bunch of them, but after a while, they began to catch on.

I wonder if the 'peace monitors' are departing because new Prez Ferdi Jr. told them to take a hike?

Iran plotting to kill Donald Trump in assassination plot, intelligence leak says
[Mirror] Iran is plotting to kill or capture Donald Trump and his former secretary of state Mike Pompeo, according to a leaked US government intelligence report.

The Middle East nation is seeking to avenge the United States for the death of Major General Qassim Soleimani, a powerful Iranian commander, at the hands of a US drone strike two years ago.

The astonishing claim came from the latest National Counterterrorism Centre report that said the Iranian regime is "waging a multi-pronged campaign against select US officials".

It said this includes threats of lethal action, international legal manoeuvring, and the issuance of Iranian arrest warrants and sanctions.

Iran says naval officer ‘martyred’ in latest mysterious military death
[IsraelTimes] A senior Iranian naval officer has died as a "martyr" while "performing his mission," according to Iranian media reports.

Admiral Beitaleh Devsalar’s funeral will be held Sunday in front of the Nowshahr Admiralty on the country’s northern coast, the semi-official Fars news agency says.

It is not clear exactly how the officer was killed, but the term "martyr" is usually given to those killed while on important assignments.

The death of the man comes as tensions remain high over Iran’s tattered nuclear deal with world powers, and its uranium enrichment program that is now the closest it has ever been to weapons-grade levels.

The latest incident is one of several mysterious deaths of high-level Iranian military figures in recent months. Last month, two members of the paramilitary Revolutionary Guard’s aerospace division died as "deaders" in Iran

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Swift Capture of the 7-Eleven Spree Killers Shows What Taking Crime Seriously Looks Like
[REDSTATE] At 1:10 p.m. on Friday, a joint task force made up of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, and detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the Santa Ana Police Department, the Fullerton Police Department, the Brea Police Department, and Sherlocks from the Orange County District Attorney Bureau of Investigations apprehended 20-year-old Malike Patt, and 44-year-old Jason Payne in connection with the July 11, 7-Eleven serial robberies and murders in Ontario, Upland, Riverside, Santa Ana, Brea, and La Habra.

The fact that these suspects were apprehended within FIVE days of the commission of the crimes is highly unusual, if not unprecedented. The coordination of agencies across the counties, and community involvement, including a $100,000 bounty for information leading to the killers, was pivotal in the apprehension and arrests.

From CBS News:

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a violent mostly peaceful robbery spree earlier this week at several 7-Eleven stores in Southern Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, in which two people were killed and three others maimed.

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office announced one arrest Friday afternoon, according to CBS Los Angeles. The Brea Police Department later announced a second arrest.

In a news briefing Friday evening, Santa Ana Police Chief David Valentin identified the two suspects as 20-year-old Malike Patt and 44-year-old Jason Payne, both of Los Angeles. Patt is believed to be the primary suspect responsible for the robberies, Valentin said. Payne’s role in the crimes is unclear.

The two were arrested together in L.A. at about 1:10 p.m. on Friday, Valentin said. One of the suspects was injured during the arrest and taken to a hospital for treatment.

All of the agencies involved in taking down the 7-11 Spree Killers held a presser on 5:00 p.m. on Friday in Santa Ana, California.

Santa Ana Police Chief David Valentin laid out the facts of the spree, and talked about the suspects who were apprehended. Twenty-year-old Patt seemed to be the primary subject behind the murder-robberies, while the forty-four year old Payne’s involvement was stated to be unclear at this point.

Valentin outlined the timeline from July 11:

12:11 a.m. armed robbery at the 7-Eleven in Ontario
1:35 a.m. armed robbery at the 7-Eleven in Upland
1:50 a.m. armed robbery and attempted murder shooting at the 7-Eleven in Riverside
3:03 a.m. armed robbery at Yum Yum Donuts in Santa Ana
3:25 a.m. a murder/shooting at the 7-Eleven in Santa Ana
4:18 a.m. at the 7-Eleven in Brea
4:55 a.m. armed robbery and murder at the 7-Eleven in La Habra
According to ATF Special Agent in Charge Monique Villegas, the investigation covered extensive work from various agencies, and she stated that the Orange County Violent Crime Task Force was formed five years ago for just this purpose: to pursue and solve violent mostly peaceful serial robberies across the Southland.

Santa Ana Mayor Vicente Sarmiento expressed his sympathies and condolences to those who have bit the dust.

"This crime spree received national attention, regional attention because of the depravity and the randomness of the act. It chilled, really our communities."

Sarmiento praised Chief Valentin, his staff, and his officers.

"[they] know how important it is for many of us, and especially the families to have closure, to have justice, and to have some solace. And we know that this can’t undo the crimes that have been enacted against our communities, but what is does is it gives a sense of at least finality. And so, I am certainly grateful for all the work that has been done up here from all the agencies."

This is a stark contrast to Los Angeles County and their District Attorney George Gascòn, whose soft-on-crime directives, and coddling of criminals in the name of reform has him under threat of recall. Gascòn’s most recent action is disbanding the Lifer Unit, which informs and aids victims and their families when a convict has a parole hearing or may receive early release. Gascòn’s special directives have stripped crime victims of any closure, and only serve to re-victimize and traumatize those families that only seek finality and justice.

JUSTICE, SOUTHERN STYLE.

Some years ago, a certain GA. County had a string of 7-11 and Mom-Pop convenience store armed robberies.

The sheriff, during that summer, placed some armed deputies in several stores coolers aligned with the customer/robbers side of the register.

RESULTS: After a few dead robbers, and the robberies quickly dissipated.

#1  ...I am a little skeptical on this.

The Japanese had two options to start full scale war in the Pacific: East and South, against the US, UK, the Dutch, France, and Australia, and North against the Russians.

There was a fair amount of argument as to which path to take, but there was likely never any real chance the Japanese would have gone north. The resources they needed could only have been found to the south, and they were perfectly willing to believe that the German invasion of the USSR - at that point only a few weeks old - was going to end in a Soviet defeat. To them, it would have made no sense to start a war against the Russians when by all appearances said Russians would collapse in short order. Once that was done, they could send in forces at their leisure to secure whatever they wanted, and those forces would have full fuel tanks thanks to the South-East strategy. To attack the USSR without that fuel would have been a gamble not even the Japanese could have accepted.

My thinking on this is that the Russians - as usual - are indulging in a little projection here.

#3  Nomonhan: Japan Against Russia, 1939 by Alvin D. Coox is a great book covering the multiple battles culminating in Zhukov's double envelopment. Also very interesting is the author's side comments on the Kwangtung Army and the final Soviet attack in 1945.

One anecdote was about a junior Japanese officer in the intelligence branch that honestly told his superiors that that the Soviets could simply throw 130% more at them over the Trans-Siberian Railroad than the Japanese could respond with --- he was told to "sit down, shut up and show the proper samurai spirit." As Mike Kozlowski noted that Japanese had bigger strategic goals (oil, rubber ant et,) and the defeat had made them hesitant at unnecessarily provoking the Soviet bear.

#4  The Japanese used their insights into US thinking that they gained from our diplomats

Which was their mistake. The American public were not interested in war over Europe's Asian colonies. Their own, the Philippines, were already scheduled for independence in 1946. They didn't have to attack to protect the line of supply from Japan to the Dutch East Indies oil fields. As it turned out, a fatal miscalculation.

Taliban Forces Arrest a Boy and a Girl for Running Away from Home in Northern Afghanistan
[Khaama] a Reverse Elopement?
A boy and an engaged girl from Kunduz province’s fifth district, in northern Afghanistan, have reportedly been arrested on charges of running away from home, according to the security officials of the Taliban government in Kunduz province.

The spokesman for the Kunduz police department said that Shabana, who was engaged to another person, and Parwiz, a resident of Mullah-Ghafoor street in Kunduz’s fourth district, fled their home four days ago for Balkh province before returning and being arrested in Kunduz province.

According to Obaidullah Abedi, the spokesman for the Kunduz police department, Parwiz who fled with engaged Shabana, have been arrested on Saturday, 16th July, and will be handed over to the judicial bodies.

According to the security officials in Kunduz province, the two arrested have confessed and will be dealt with under Islamic Sharia, after investigations are concluded.

Afghan women have been subject to forced marriages, and domestic violence, and according to a report by the Human Rights Watch, up to 70% of cases of "running away" from home are associated with fleeing forced marriage or domestic violence.

Following the reinstatement of the Taliban in Afghanistan, several stringent edicts are put in place, strictly restricting women’s rights, including the freedom of movement, as travel bans apply to them without a Mahram.

Resident of Kaspiysk arrested in the case of the sale of a child
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] A resident of Kaspiysk, who sold her newborn son for 120,000 rubles, was arrested and charged, the investigation reported.

The " Caucasian Knot " has reported that on July 6 it became known that security forces had detained a resident of Kaspiysk, who had sold her child for 120 thousand rubles, she needed money for life and plastic surgery.

In the story of the sale of a child by a resident of Kaspiysk, all parties to the transaction, including the notary, face criminal penalties. Sentences in such cases are usually severe, and the child, according to the law, must be transferred to relatives or to an orphanage, lawyers interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" noted.

The investigation charged a 33-year-old resident of the city of Kaspiysk with selling a child, she had previously been arrested, the department of the Investigative Committee for Dagestan reported.

According to investigators, on April 25, a woman gave birth to a male child in the Caspian City Central Hospital. On April 30, she was discharged from the hospital, where, having met with a local resident, she agreed to transfer her newborn son to him for a reward of 200,000 rubles.

Having notarized the renunciation of the rights to the child, the accused received from the man part of the money in the amount of 20,000 rubles, thereby making a transaction for the sale of the child. On May 26, 2022, she received another part of the money in the amount of 100,000 rubles, according to a message on the department’s website.

The Red Army and two million raped German women?
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Textual commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin.

The video is translatable.

[ColonelCassad] Historian Yegor Yakovlev about the myth of "raped Germany".

How such fakes are created in the West, we recently could see on the example of the story of mass rape from Denisova.
Refers to the debunked mass rapes libel spread by Ukrainian government official Lyudmyla Denisova, which were alleged to have taken place in Bucha near Kiev in the early part of the war.
By the way, we noticed how the topic of rape of Ukrainian women by the Russian military practically disappeared from the media. The clumsy performance has practically burned out this topic and they simply prefer not to remember about it.

#3  ...There is an extraordinary book called The Bunker by James O'Donnell, about the last days of WWII in Berlin. O'Donnell touches on this subject briefly but powerfully.

Short version: It happened, and the postwar West German leadership did not discuss it.

For fear of pi$$ing off the Russians.

Mike

PS - I cannot recommend this book strongly enough. Superbly researched and reading like a novel. Probably the last word on the final days in the bunker.

#4  Mankind's known this lesson since they learnt to hit each other over the head. Don't want your people getting raped, don't lose.

I know it sounds insensitive an' all that in light of our great... civilization. But that is just a construct of convenience, like the social contract. Man is an animal, he lives for this shit. Give him a chance and off he'll go.

Which is why people need religion, a moral grounding, some baseline, some substratum of ethics. I suspect communism, other mechanistic or hate filled paradigms strip man of that capability?

#7  We had this inter-agency op, badanov, summer of 2001. Kashmir. Just cleaning up leftover paki insurgents who had hidden within India after the Kargil. Paramilitary, local police, special forces all working under the army operations directorate, to flush them out, hunt them down. Because the Moslems liked to hide them in their homes, lie about them being family, the police boys tended to get a little... creative sometimes. It was only threats and a bit of hassling their girlies mind you. But tolerate that sort of thing once, let it pass and soon you have others taking worse liberties. I'll admit it was bad leadership on the part of the army commanders. The religious and cultural animosity being what it is, there soon occurred some incidents of molestation and one of rape.

In just under a day, the enemy, fuelled with rhetoric from Islamabad to London, had painted the entire Indian army as psycho rapists bashing in doors with their sausages and raping everything that moved. For years, that narrative built up, salted and peppered with masala by Kashmiri Ahed Tamimi types claiming they were all violated by unnamed armymen who 'came in the night' and rappity rape raped them.

So that's narratives.

#8  Don't want your people getting raped, don't lose.

Also beaten up, pillaged, and plundered. Might not happen, but bullying is contagious, especially when far from normal circumstances among the home folks.

On the other hand, the horror stories about what UN troops do to the communities they are there to help — being staffed as they are primarily by rented units from Third World countries, have been discussed here regularly over the years. So being conquered is clearly not the prime requisite for the risk of such treatment.

...Indeed. Zukhov's orders were that anyone seen violating that regulation would be punished.

'Seen'.

Even the simplest Ivan understood that you don't do that in from of the old man. Berlin was worst of all, in that the officers were too busy trying to stay alive themselves (it is telling that to this day, the Russians still have not released accurate figures on their losses there) and in a major city, larger than anything 99.9% of the Russians had ever seen, where there were simply so many places to do it and get away with it. O'Donnell mentions one large park in central Berlin that women were taken to en masse, and things were so grim there that even the SMERSH enforcer units didn't dare go in there.

#15  (it is telling that to this day, the Russians still have not released accurate figures on their losses there)

More telling is the locations of which units during the war came from German sources. Germann sources in some cases have Russian units thousands of miles from where the Russians say they were. This may be due to sheer mendacity, or even worse, sheer stupidity, on the Russian part.

O'Donnell mentions one large park in central Berlin that women were taken to en masse, and things were so grim there that even the SMERSH enforcer units didn't dare go in there.

You'll never convince me of that. SMERSH units were the most feared since NKVD catchment units of 1941-1942. They reported directly to front headquarters, the last coms node before the Russian general staff.

If you read Russian treatment of this time, they admit there were rapes committed by Soviet solders, but they rather convincingly add that the sources of the stories of mass rapes began with Goebbels. They also added that rapes were not committed by front line troops, the shooters, but by rear echelon troops, probably because they has resources to aid civilian German populations. Whether this was forcible rape or drop to your knees in exchange for bread is a subject of speculation.

Even Harrison Salisbury wrote that the troops which were dodging bullets and those which followed on were different in deportment and behavior, which lends credence to the Russian protestations that mass rapes were a myth.

Government Corruption
Nancy Pelosi's Husband Buys Millions In Chip Stocks Right Before Vote On Massive Chip Subsidy
[DAILYCALLER] House Speaker Nancy San Fran Nan Pelosi
Congresswoman-for-Life from the San Francisco Bay Area, born into a family of professional politicians. On-again-off-again Speaker of the House. It's not her fault when they lose, but it's her accomplishment when they win. Noted for her heavily botoxed grimace and occasional senior... uhhh... moments...
’s husband Paul bought up to $5 million in stock of a computer chip company ahead of a vote on a bill next week that would hand billions in subsidies to boost chip manufacturing, a financial disclosure shows.

Paul Pelosi purchased 20,000 shares of Nvidia, one of the world’s largest semiconductor companies, on June 17, according to the speaker’s disclosure report released Thursday. Now, senators will convene as early as Tuesday to vote on a bipartisan competition bill, which allocates $52 billion to boost domestic semiconductor manufacturing and gives tax credits for production, Rooters reported Thursday.

"It certainly raises the specter that Paul Pelosi could have access to some insider legislative information," Craig Holman, a government affairs lobbyist for the left-wing think tank Public Citizen, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. "This is the reason why there is a stock trading app that exclusively monitors Paul’s trading activity and then its followers do likewise."

Nvidia is a multinational corporation that designs and manufactures graphics processors and other technology, and is heavily reliant on semiconductors. The House passed a bill in February that included $52 billion in domestic subsidies for the semiconductor industry, and chip companies, including Nvidia, demanded Congress in June move forward on finalizing semiconductor subsidies for domestic manufacturing.

"The conference is stuck. And so it seems to me there are a couple of ways out of this, potentially," said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell Tuesday, noting that the bill would have a better likelihood of passing without the $52 billion funding for semiconductor manufacturing.

#4  I think this one will put the lie to the myth that all insider trades make money. The price of nVidia's (and competitor AMD's) product is crashing and both are giving forward guidance of reduced production in the quarters ahead.

I predict they lose money or tread water if they are lucky on this one.

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: July 16th, 2022
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespondent] 23:03 Zelensky, in an evening video message, urged Ukrainians to be very careful and prudent in the information field: "How many people were scared today by a fake about a massive Russian missile attack on Ukraine?.. How many nerves are spoiled daily by the circulation of horror stories from Russian propagandists and officials... How many problems Ukrainians create for themselves, trusting any anonymous source... This sometimes takes on simply unhealthy forms when deliberate stuffing from Russia spreads through social networks and websites, the purpose of which is to supplement rocket and artillery terror against our state with informational terror."

21:59 The SBU and the SBI detained the former head of the Crimean SBU Oleg Kulinich. He headed the department of the ARC until March 2022. Zelensky removed him from office after a full-scale Russian invasion.

21:21 The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to advance in the Kherson direction, the head of the press center of the security and defense forces of the Pivden operational command, Natalia Gumenyuk, said on Espresso air: “We are moving, maybe not as fast as those who feed positive news would like, but, Believe me, these steps are very confident."

21:15 Ukrainian defenders repelled the attempts of the Russians to cut the Lisichansk-Bakhmut highway. The occupiers wanted to seize the "road of life" so that after the regrouping they could begin to storm Bakhmut, said the head of the Luhansk OVA Serhiy Gaidai.

20:38 From the territory of the Svyatogorsk Lavra, a group of civilians was evacuated - this is a family that was hiding in the walls of the Lavra from constant artillery shelling by the Russians: a father, mother and three children. At the same time, the youngest child was born on the territory of the Lavra a few days ago. A couple of elderly people, a man and a woman, were also able to leave, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported. Up to 600 civilians remain on the territory of the Lavra, of which more than 50 are children, including four babies.

On June 1, the territory of the Svyatogorsk Lavra came under artillery fire from Russian troops, as a result of which Archimandrite Galaktion, the monk Aristokliy and the nun Varvara were killed, and several priests were seriously injured.

20:33 The International Court of Justice in The Hague may start considering the case of accusing Russia of the genocide of Ukrainians in the fall, said Ukraine's agent at the International Court of Justice, Ambassador-at-Large of the Foreign Ministry Anton Korynevych. According to him, Kyiv can bring to justice not only the Russian Federation as a state, but also specific individuals guilty of the genocide.

20:22 The Russians attacked Pokrovsk with an Iskander missile. The shelling hit the private sector, 27 houses were damaged, there are dead and wounded, the National Police said.

20:01 The head of the Vinnitsa OVA, Sergei Borzov, said that there are no more missing Russians after the strike in the center of Vinnitsa, the death toll is 24 people. 68 victims are still in hospitals, 14 of them are in serious condition, four are in critical condition.

19:30 In the Slavic and Bakhmut directions, the Russians tried to improve the tactical situation and establish control over the Uglegorsk thermal power plant, but the Ukrainian military forced the enemy to withdraw, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said in an evening report .

19:04 The command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that today at about 15:20 Russian strategic Tu-95MS bombers launched a missile attack on Ukraine from the Caspian Sea region. Six X-101 (X-555) type missiles were fired, four of them were destroyed over the territory of Zaporozhye and Dnepropetrovsk regions around 16:30. Two more missiles hit an agricultural enterprise in the Cherkasy region.

18:26 The head of the Cherkassy OVA, Igor Taburets, announced two explosions in one of the villages of the Chigirin territorial community. The blow fell on the agricultural enterprise. According to preliminary information, there are no victims. Agricultural machinery was destroyed and a few livestock were damaged.

17:51 The mayor of Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, Ruslan Trebushkin, announced explosions in the city - residential buildings were damaged, there are casualties among the civilian population.

17:47 Ukraine can use HIMARS against Russian facilities in Crimea, Vadim Skibitsky, a spokesman for the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, said on the air of the telethon. According to him, the Crimean peninsula has become a hub for the movement of all equipment and weapons that come from the Russian Federation to the southern regions of Ukraine.

In addition, Skibitsky recalled the ships in the Black Sea, from which Ukrainian territory is being shelled: "This is also one of the targets that must be hit in order to ensure the safety of citizens, our facilities and Ukraine in general."

Skibitsky also named two factors, under which a turning point in the war with Russia is possible: the ability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to stop the enemy’s offensive pace and the help of Western partners. Skibitsky himself expressed confidence that a turning point in the war would definitely happen.

17:29 The Netherlands will join the training of Ukrainian soldiers in the UK, the country's Ministry of Defense reported. Soldiers from various units of the Royal Netherlands Army and the Marine Corps will be involved in the exercises. Classes will start at the end of August.

17:13 "The head of the administration" of the occupied Zaporozhye region, Yevhen Balitsky, said that 100,000 tons of grain are planned to be exported from Ukraine through the port of Berdyansk. According to him, four large ships are already in the Berdyansk roadstead and are ready for loading. Balitsky added that the export of grain is also carried out by rail - more than 100 wagons have already been sent, a "contract" has been concluded for another 150,000 tons.

17:06 Bulgaria, contrary to Moscow's demands, will continue the repair of Ukrainian military equipment. In response to this, the Russian Federation is going to revoke the licenses of Bulgarian enterprises for the repair of Russian helicopters, AP writes. According to Bulgarian Defense Minister Dragomir Zakov, this decision will not seriously affect Bulgaria and will not interfere with the repair of Ukrainian equipment: "What happened with gas has now happened with helicopter licenses."

17:04 In Odessa, four people were detained who were photographing a warehouse after a missile strike. Pictures of infrastructure facilities and checkpoints were also found on their phones, said Serhiy Bratchuk, spokesman for the UVA. According to the police, one of the detainees behaved inappropriately and did not respond to the lawful demands of the patrolmen. Evidence of active communication with Russian subscribers was found in his phone.

16:56 Yesterday, in Nova Kakhovka, rocket and artillery units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit two command posts of enemy troops and a landing site. Also, over the past 24 hours, the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed warehouses with ammunition in the Chernobaevka and Chaplinsky districts, the Kherson Regional Police Department reported.

16:51 In the Lugansk region, which continues to hold the line, the number of attacks by the Russian army has significantly decreased. According to the head of the OVA Serhiy Gaidai, due to the destruction of enemy ammunition depots in the rear by Ukrainian artillerymen, the Russians are now working "on wheels" - that is, they no longer store ammunition in warehouses, but are immediately transported to the front by cars. At the same time, they have difficulties with logistics.

“If earlier the invaders had a significant advantage in firepower, now thanks to Western weapons we have caught up and become stronger. High-precision hits on warehouses confirm this,” Gaidai said.

16:42 In a joint statement following the meeting between Biden and King Abdullah II of Jordan, UN General Assembly resolutions are mentioned calling on the Russian Federation to withdraw troops from the territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Russian Artillery strikes reduced maybe due to HIMARS
[Institute for the Study of War (ISW)] Ukraine's destruction of Russian ammunition depots using HIMARS is likely one of several factors that reduced the quantity of observed heat anomalies in Donbas between July 10-15. The reduced number of observed heat anomalies also corresponds in part to the assessed Russian operational pause from July 6 to July 15. The number of observed heat anomalies began increasing on July 15; the day ISW assessed that Russian forces began emerging from their operational pause. The intensity of Russian artillery attacks along the Slovyansk-Bakhmut axis in the coming days may clarify the degree to which the reduction in intensity was due to the operational pause or the result of Ukrainian attacks.

#1  ...I understand that one new nickname for HIMARS is 'the eighty-kilometer sniper rifle."

The Russians aren't helping; their idea of an ammo dump is to dump everything in one place and call it a day. The pictures I've seen of their ammo handling and storage are, to put it gently, horrifying to anyone who worked with ordnance. US/NATO/Pacific Allied practices ensure minimum damage and loss if you take a hit, whereas Russian standards seem to be designed to guarantee the exact opposite. They lose massive quantities of ammo every time a HIMARS hits an ammo dump, and that has got to be having an effect on their traditional reliance on artillery.

#2  Russia since WWI has placed ammo dumps near railroad depots. They don't even use forklifts, they use Russian soldier's backs.
