Black Rock Coffee CEO Responds - 'NYT Twisted My Words'
The 48 hour rule is a good thing...
[PJ Media] - Black Rifle Coffee is a premium, small-batch, roast-to-order, veteran-owned coffee company based out of Utah. It has seen tremendous success over the past couple of years and has been dubbed the conservative alternative to Starbucks. But social media has been abuzz over the past few days regarding an interview Black Rifle CEO Evan Hafer gave to the New York Times Magazine. In response to the interview, The Post Millennial wrote that Black Rifle "goes woke, throws customers under the bus in bizarre NYT interview." In addition, Newsmax said the company had called out some of its customers as "a repugnant group of people."

Conservatives on Twitter expressed outrage.

"Black Rifle Coffee is DONE!" tweeted conservative author Nick Adams.

"It looks like Black Rifle Coffee, a company which became famous because of conservatives, is now trying to distance themselves from conservatives," tweeted Brigitte Gabriel, the founder of ACT for America.

Something didn’t sound right about this.

Let’s get the air cleared right away. Black Rifle Coffee’s founder and CEO has spoken out and is disputing how his comments were presented by the New York Times and represented by those reacting to the article, who were led to believe that Black Rifle Coffee bashed conservatives.

Evan Hafer decided to set the record straight regarding the "significant amount of misinformation being put out on the internet" about Black Rifle Coffee and about statements that he has made.

Hafer quickly debunked the notion that he made derogatory remarks about BRCC’s customers or conservatives and then proceeded to explain how the New York Times deliberately twisted his words and took them out of context. According to Hafer, his conversation with the NYT Magazine reporter was in the context of racism and anti-Semitism in America in light of Hafer being the target of an organized attack last year because of "my last name and my heritage."
Mr. Hafer’s explanation on Instagram and a YouTube interview with Dana Loesch can be seen at the link.

Biden administration will house 2,500 Afghan interpreters at Fort Lee in Virginia when they start evacuations following months of delays and an increase in Taliban threats
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • The initial group of evacuees include 700 interpreters and their families

  • The Afghans, who aided the US military at their own risk, will be allowed to finish their visa application processes from the base outside of Richmond, Virginia

  • They are just a small portion of the roughly 18,000 special immigrant visa applicants hoping to be airlifted out of Afghanistan as the Taliban gains ground

  • About 53,000 family members of these interpreters are also looking for rescue

  • The update comes after Biden said interpreters could be airlifted to 'third countries' to wait out their visa application process in safety if they chose to

  • Operation Allies Refuge was announced after bipartisan pressure to help

Home Front: Politix
The Left's Contempt for the Masses
[American Thinker] Karl Marx is often portrayed as the hero of the masses. After all, he believed in the creation of a "worker's paradise" following the temporary reign of the "vanguard of the proletariat" — that small, highly educated, elite group that would rule in the interests of the workers until such time as they were capable of ruling for themselves. In Russia, that was 73 years and counting.

Wherever a Marxist revolution has taken place, that "vanguard" has decided that its reign should be permanent and in its own interests. Communist elites enslave workers just as the Democratic Party does in cities like Baltimore and Chicago. In communist states like the Soviet Union, the People's Republic of China, North Korea, and communist Cuba and Venezuela, small bands of communists seized power but refused to cede it. When the people protest, as they are now doing in Cuba, they are met with force, hauled off, and imprisoned or shot.

Communists pretend they are the wave of the future. Actually, they are a throwback to the outdated system of absolutist monarchy that was abolished in most of Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries. Marx was not a brilliant thinker — he was a stubborn fool who turned his back on democratic capitalism, the most successful and humane system in history. That's why he found a following in backwaters like czarist Russia and post-imperial China. Communism has never appealed to those with deep-seated democratic traditions because they recognize its authoritarian nature and its threat to freedom.

Woman comments on police ‘Most Wanted' post about her, gets arrested
[NYP] She’s a criminal oversharer.

Oklahoma police tracked down a suspect on their "Most Wanted" list — after she asked about reward money in a reply to their Facebook post about her alleged crime, authorities said.

Lorraine Graves was busted on a charge of accessory to murder after she commented on a Tulsa Police Department post on Wednesday that listed her as the force’s "Weekly Most Wanted."

Graves replied to the post, saying, "where’s the reward money at?," a screenshot of her post shows.

Detectives arrested her Thursday in north Tulsa, according to the department. Her bond is set at $500,000, cops said.

10 Reasons to Question the Election
[American Thinker] It's frustrating to hear people on the Right, including some who should know better, claim there's "no evidence" of significant, possibly outcome-changing fraud in the last presidential election — even as the forensic audit in Arizona uncovers multiple discrepancies.

Clearly, they're confusing "evidence" with "proof."

No, there may not be absolute, incontrovertible proof of election fraud — yet. But there is plenty of evidence, good reasons a rational person might question the outcome. Here are ten that come to mind, in no particular order:

100,000 Muslims promise to give their lives for Al Aqsa
[IsraelNationalNews] Muslims arriving at Temple Mount to mark Eid al-Adha chant anti-Israel slogans, promise to 'sacrifice their lives' for Al Aqsa Mosque.

In addition signs were hung near the mosques, expressing support for the Hamas terror organization, with the words, "We are the men of Mohammed Deif," and "The sword of Jerusalem will free the prisoners."

Israel Police has increased its presence on the Temple Mount and in Jerusalem's Old City, due to concerns of violent riots.

Meanwhile, in the western Galilee, Israel Police conducted an operation to locate dangerous toys in Arab towns, confiscating dozens of explosives and firecrackers, some of which were transferred from the Palestinian Authority.

Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog and Defense Minister Benny Gantz (Blue and White) spoke Monday night with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, wishing him well ahead of the holiday. In a statement, the Defense Ministry said that, "The two spoke in a positive atmosphere and raised the need to promote trust-building measures between Israel and the Palestinian Authority that will help the security and economy of the entire region."

Beijing Vet Dies of Monkey B Virus, Which Has 70 to 80 Percent Fatality Rate
[ET] China has reported the first death from the rare Monkey B virus in its history. The individual, identified as a veterinarian in Beijing, was infected by monkeys in March and died on May 27.

Monkey B virus (BV), also known as Herpes B virus, has a fatality rate of 70 to 80 percent, wrote the authors of the report published on July 17 in the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s English journal China CDC Weekly. The report states that the deceased’s close contacts were tested in April and were found to be free of the virus.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), humans typically are infected with BV when bitten or scratched by an infected macaque monkey, or have contact with a macaque’s eyes, nose, or mouth. The CDC highlighted that there has only been one case of BV human-to-human transmission documented in history.

It’s unclear which type of monkey the victim was in contact with when he contracted the virus.

Fifth Column
Ivy League Lawyers Head to Trial for Firebombing Cop Car
[Free Beacon] Two New York City Ivy League lawyers will stand trial in March 2022 for allegedly firebombing a police cruiser and distributing Molotov cocktails during the George Floyd riots last summer.

Defense lawyers for Colinford Mattis
...African-American, Princeton, NYU Law, former corporate law associate at some fancy New York City law firm, along with his sister the primary caregivers for his dead mother’s three foster children — the things ya gotta do in Brooklyn to keep the family’s rent controlled apartment!
and Urooj Rahman
...the pouty, connected Pakistani-American who trained with Hamas before studying human rights law at Fordham. Her self-proclaimed best friend, successful Washington, DC lawyer Salmah Rizvi, previously worked for President Obama as an intelligence analyst ...
have been in plea negotiations with federal prosecutors since February but have not come to terms, prompting U.S. District Judge Brian Cogan to set a trial schedule for both defendants. Pretrial motions are due on Sept. 17 and jury selection will begin on March 14, 2022.

The accused enjoy widespread support and sympathy from New York’s legal and media elites. Rahman is represented by one of the city’s best defense attorneys, and a former Obama administration official guaranteed her bail in the amount of $250,000. Both have been the subject of favorable profiles in New York magazine and NPR, among other venues.

Cogan has delayed proceedings three times while the parties discussed a prospective plea. Those talks can continue as the case heads to trial. Mattis and Rahman are under house arrest with electronic monitoring, though they’ve each sought relaxed release conditions. Cogan allowed Rahman to attend a bridal shower and a wedding in May, though he denied a bail modification that would have authorized her to move freely about four city boroughs during daylight hours. Mattis obtained permission to celebrate Christmas at a relative’s home.

Supporters and defense lawyers say the Trump administration was out to make an example of Mattis and Rahman. Destroying a police vehicle is the sort of crime that is usually handled by local authorities. But the Department of Justice chose to prosecute the case instead, saying the case was a federal matter because the New York Police Department takes federal dollars and the cruiser was "an instrument in interstate commerce." What’s more, the charges the pair face carry stiff sentences and are typical of prosecutions involving violent drug dealers.

The Justice Department has emphasized that the defendants are practicing attorneys who have a special obligation to uphold the rule of law.

Stop and think about the $200,000,000+ in student loans that they or mommy and daddy have to still pay back WITHOUT a law license to help. I'm hoping for a convicted and disbarred due to Felony Conviction. You just have to Love the Karma.

Where's the NY Bar on this one? I'd think a suspension of their licenses would be fitting, at a bare minimum, until the trial when they should both be disbarred on conviction.

Master of Misinformation: Joe Biden's 10 Worst Lies
[Breitbart] President Joe Biden is pushing social media companies to suppress what he calls "misinformation" about coronavirus vaccines, blaming it for stalling the administration’s rollout and claiming that bad information is "killing people."

Yet Biden has been assisted by deliberate misinformation by social media companies, who suppressed the (true) story of Hunter Biden’s laptop, and he has also produced misinformation, for political advantage, that has damaged the country.

1. Misinformation about neo-Nazis. Biden launched his presidential campaign in April 2019 by claiming that President Donald Trump had referred to neo-Nazis and white supremacists in Charlottesville, Virginia, as "very fine people." In fact, Trump had said they should be "condemned totally." Biden did not invent the lie, but by repeating it, he convinced many Americans that their president was a Nazi sympathizer, and stoked racial tensions that fed nationwide unrest.

2. Misinformation about the coronavirus vaccine. In August 2020, then-candidate Biden told Americans they could not trust a vaccine that was being produced by Trump’s Operation Warp Speed. "It’s not likely to go through all the tests and the trials that are needed to be done," Biden said, slandering the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). He also said Trump was "moving it quicker than the scientists think it should be moved," falsely claiming the authority of science.

3. Misinformation about officer-involved shootings. When police shot Jacob Blake Jr. in Kenosha last August, Biden called Blake "a victim of excessive force" and said that "the officers must be held accountable." In fact, Blake was armed with a knife; had fought with officers; and was wanted on an outstanding warrant for sexual assault. A subsequent investigation exonerated the officers. Biden’s lie fueled outrage that had already exploded into riots on Kenosha’s streets.

4. Misinformation about Antifa and riots. As violent radicals affiliated with the Antifa movement attacked a federal courthouse in Portland, Oregon, for several months, firing incendiary devices and shooting laser beams at federal law enforcement officers, Biden claimed that the feds were "brutally attacking peaceful protesters." His demonstrably false claim gave political cover to the radicals, who continued their destruction — in Portland, Kenosha, and elsewhere.

5. Misinformation about China’s threat to the U.S. Biden consistently downplayed the threat that China poses to the U.S. and the free world in general. In January 2020, he dismissed President Trump’s coronavirus travel ban on China as "hysterical xenophobia." On the campaign trail, he continued to ridicule the idea that China was an economic competitor to the U.S. Today, the Biden administration is struggling to deal with Chinese (and Russian) cyberattacks on the U.S.

6. Misinformation about military deaths. Biden claimed on the campaign trail last year that there had been 6,114 military deaths from the coronavirus pandemic, for which he blamed President Trump. The real number was seven. Biden also repeated debunked claims that Trump had referred to American soldiers as "suckers" and "losers." Ironically, once he was president, Biden failed to recognize the anniversary of D-Day, dishonoring the troops he promised to honor.

7. Misinformation about economic re-openings. Biden claims credit for the ongoing economic recovery. But when several Republican-led states opted to drop their mask mandates and other coronavirus restrictions in March, Biden accused them of "Neanderthal thinking," saying that their decision to drop mandates was "a big mistake." Instead of going up, coronavirus cases in those states declined — and jobs also soared, for which Biden has falsely taken credit.

8. Misinformation about Trump and Lafayette Square. Biden claimed repeatedly that President Trump used tear gas to clear peaceful protesters from Lafayette Square last June so that he could have a "photo-op" at which he held a Bible upside-down. Not one bit of that was true, but Biden repeated it again in the wake of the January 6 Capitol riot, stoking divisions that led to Trump’s second failed impeachment. In June, an inspector general’s report cleared Trump entirely.

9. Misinformation about Hunter Biden’s laptop and Russian "misinformation." The Biden campaign told reporters that stories about Hunter Biden’s laptop were "Russian misinformation." In fact, the stories turned out to be true, showing that Hunter Biden had set up meetings with his father and his foreign business partners, and that he had sought overseas business opportunities using his father’s name. Biden’s claims were "misinformation" designed to mislead the electorate.

10. Misinformation about Republicans and "Jim Crow." Biden has repeatedly referred to Republican-backed ballot integrity legislation as the new "Jim Crow," accusing states like Georgia and Texas of trying to disenfranchise black voters. In fact, many of these new voting laws expand opportunities to vote, and are more liberal than the restrictive voting laws in Biden’s home state of Delaware. Biden’s slander is designed to stoke racial tensions for political gain.

SUV Driving on a Sidewalk Mows Down Dozens in Spain, Spanish Driver Arrested
Or possibly “Spanish”. It remains to be seen. Posted for Page 3: Non-WoT because the authorities insist this was not a terror attack, but may be moved to Page 1: War on Terror if subsequent evidence reveals otherwise.
[PJMedia] A car in Marbella, Spain, jumped a sidewalk and "zigzagged" left and right, knocking people and tables in every direction on Monday.

The vehicle drove nearly the whole block, which was crammed with outdoor cafes. The crash took place in the mid-afternoon as the area was overflowing with customers having lunch, said Raul Morote, whose family owns several restaurants on the popular avenue.

"The car was zigzagging and sweeping away everything," Morote, told the News Agency that Dare Not be Named.

Some people were seriously injured. The videos show several people covered in blood. No word yet on fatalities.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop under a canopy. Police arrested the driver but no name has been released yet. There is also no known reason or motive, though terrorism apparently has been ruled out, as per one media outlet.

Other videos showed first responders and waiters tending to the maimed and cleaning up the debris.

The driver has tested negative for drugs and alcohol and is rumored to be suffering from mental health issues.
So a nutter. But is he a Muslim nutter doing jihad or a non-Muslim nutter copying jihad?
The Sun adds:
The driver was a 30-year-old Spanish citizen who was travelling in the vehicle with his parents, reports claim.

Outlet SUR has confirmed that the driver has now been arrested as police continue to investigate.

He was reportedly suffering from mental health issues.

A worker at a cafe-bar, who declined to give her name, added: “The police and ambulance were at the scene very quickly.”

She added: “Others jumped on the driver before the police got to him and held him while back-up arrived.

“I saw an older man and woman get out of the car he was in.

“It happened around 3.15pm. The vehicle involved was a white Suzuki, I think it was a Suzuki SX4.”

The car had appeared to crash into a shop front.

Officers were filmed sprinting towards a waiting patrol car and carrying the barefooted Spaniard blamed for the incident face-down with his hands and legs immobilised.

One of the four policemen could be heard shouting ‘clear the way’ as he tried to ensure they transported the man to a police station in the resort as soon as possible.

A spokesman for Spain’s National Police confirmed: “With regards to the incident this afternoon in Miguel Cano Avenue in Marbella, we can confirm the arrest of the driver of the vehicle.

“He is a Spaniard aged 30. A terrorist motive has been ruled out as the cause of the incident.

“Investigations are ongoing to clarify fully the cause.

“Around ten people have so far been recorded as injured. All are being treated at a hospital in Marbella.”

Iraq
Iraqi army needs US training and support, but combat troops have to go: PM Kadhimi
[Rudaw] Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi claimed that his upcoming visit to Washington will put an end to the presence of US combat troops in Iraq in an interview on Sunday, but stressed the need for continued training, air force, and intelligence support.
"give us money"
"We are visiting Washington to set out our relationship with America. The Iraqi army still needs their forces for training. We need their support to our air force, and we need their intelligence support in the fight against ISIS (Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
)," Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi said in an interview with the Saudi owned al-Hadath TV on Sunday.

"The visit will be to set out this relationship, and to put an end to the presence of combat forces, because the Iraqi army can now fight for itself on behalf of Iraqis and the world against these terrorist groups in Iraq," Kadhimi added. "There is no need for combat troops."

The Iraqi PM is set to visit Washington on July 26 and meet with US President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. Old, boring, a plagiarist, fond of hair sniffing and grabbing the protruding parts of women, and not whatcha call brilliant... or is that an act?...
Kadhimi’s visit "will highlight the strategic partnership between the United States and Iraq and advance bilateral cooperation under the Strategic Framework Agreement," reads a White House statement released on Friday.

The Strategic Framework Agreement guides US-Iraqi relations in all fields, including security. In their latest round of strategic dialogue in April, the US agreed to remove all combat troops out of Iraq, but is yet to set a timeline. There are currently 2,500 American soldiers in Iraq, part of the fight against the Islamic State group (ISIS).

On Thursday, US envoy Brett McGurk was in Baghdad for meetings with Iraqi leaders, including Kadhimi, laying the groundwork for the prime minister’s trip to Washington. They discussed the mechanism for withdrawing combat troops.

tensions and its effects on Iraq, Kadhimi said "Iraq hopes to not be a ground for American-Iranian tensions, and for that we are working on everything with both sides."

"We are working on helping reach a dialogue to sort out all differences between both states," he added.

Kadhimi said that they have asserted Iraq’s illusory sovereignty during talks with Iran, adding that "the Iranians are working seriously in helping us build stability in Iraq."

He also said that he will visit Tehran when the new government is inaugurated.

Kadhimi’s statements on Iran come as Iraqi militias backed by Iran have repeatedly attacked US interests and positions in the country to force their withdrawal. They have carried out at least four attacks this month, including firing 14 rockets at Ain al-Asad airbase and targeting Erbil’s airport with an explosive-laden drone.

It seems to me that one lesson of all the joint exercises is how suicidal it would be to go to war against a fully engaged America.

Government Corruption
Florida man sentenced to 8 months for 'entering the Capitol to obstruct Congress' on Jan 6
[PostMillennial] Paul Allard Hodgkins, 38, pled guilty to the charge on June 2. He has no prior criminal history and engaged in no violence while in the capitol.

A man from Tampa, Florida is the first person involved in the January 6 storming of the Capitol to be sentenced for a felony. The charge is one felony count of "entering the Capitol to obstruct Congress."

"Although you were only one member of a larger mob, you actively participated in a larger event that threatened the Capitol and democracy itself," said US District Court Judge Randolph Moss.

He was sentenced to 8 months in prison for the crime, which he pled guilty to on June 2.

Hodgkins has no prior criminal history and engaged in no violence while in the capitol.

Patrick Leduc, Hodgkin's lawyer, said that Hodgkins is a "law abiding, hardworking, honest, caring, kind, thoughtful, generous, and the kind of person you would want for a neighbor."

Leduc said that on January 6, he "lost his bearings and his way ... made a fateful decision to follow the crowd, and found himself for approximately 15 minutes in a place that he sincerely regrets to have been."

Hodgkins told the judge "I can say without a shadow of a doubt that I am truly remorseful and regretful for my actions, not because I face consequences but because of the damage that day's incident caused and the way this country that I love has been hurt."

"I realize that my involvement did still contribute to the greater problem that took place. The company of us who remained calmer in our protests may have made others feel emboldened," he said.

"The need to deter others is especially strong in cases involving domestic terrorism, which the breach of the Capitol certainly was," Special Assistant US Attorney Mona Sedky said in the sentencing request.

Prosecutors stated in a filing that Hodgkins "contributed to the collective threat to democracy" when he and others interrupted the certification of the 2020 election in congress on January 6. The vote proceeded later that day.

Footage shows Hodgkins inside the Senate chamber on January 6, wearing a Trump 2020 t-shirt, eye goggles around his neck, and carrying a Trump flag.

The sentencing could set the bar for the sentencing of hundreds of other people who illegally breached the capitol building on January 6.

According to federal sentencing guidelines, Hodgkins, who has remained free since his arrest, could have faced between 15 and 21 months in prison.

Nigeria: Military plane shot down by bandits
[DW] A Nigerian jet has been downed in the northwest of the country. The pilot safely ejected and avoided capture.

The Nigerian air force on Monday said that one of its planes "came under intense enemy fire" from gangs with the pilot ultimately forced to bail out.

The Alpha Jet had been operating around the boundaries of Zamfara and Kaduna State when the incident happened.

Air force front man Edward Gabkwet said in a statement that the fighter jet was "returning from a successful air interdiction mission" on Sunday

"Using his survival instincts, the pilot, who came under intense ground fire from the bandidos, was able to evade them and sought refuge in nearby settlements awaiting sunset," the statement said.

The pilot, Abayomi Dairo, found his way to an army base where he was rescued after ejecting from the cockpit.

West Africa Province, are probably the most famous bully boy groups battling for control of parts of northern Nigeria and neighboring countries.

Zamfara and neighboring Kaduna are among the states with a surge in criminal activities such as mass abductions of schoolchildren and armed robberies. This is often carried out by large gangs of outlaws, typically dubbed "bandidos" by the government, who operate from remote hideouts.

According to the United Nations
...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society...
Refugee Agency, nearly 2,4 million people in Nigeria and neighboring countries have been forced to flee because of terrorist groups.

Nigeria's government has become increasingly reliant on its air force to carry out missions in areas where its ground forces can no longer safely tread. Pilots have been carrying out sorties daily over Zamfara, Kaduna and Katsina states for the past two weeks, with the military reporting that they "neutralized" hundreds of bandidos.

This May, Nigeria's top military officer Ibrahim Attahiru was killed in a plane crash in bad weather on an official visit to Kaduna state.

Press TV] Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are set to hold military drills next month near the border with Afghanistan where the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
holy warrior group has over the past weeks ramped up attacks against government forces.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Monday that the joint drills would take place from August 5 to 10 at the Kharbmaidon training ground in Tajikistan.

Troops from a Russian military base in Tajikistan and Russia’s Central Military District will take part in the war games, the ministry stated.

The state news agency TASS quoted Central Military District Commander Colonel-General Alexander Lapin as making the announcement on Monday.

"In early August, we will take part in a joint exercise that will involve military contingents of the armed forces of the republics of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan at the Kharbmaidon practice range," Lapin said.

"In the course of the drills, we will practice preparations for combat operations by a grouping of forces to rout outlawed armed gangs that have intruded into the territory of an allied state," he underlined.

The commander did not elaborate on the strength of the troops that would be engaged in the drills.

The Taliban claims to be in control of more than half of the entire Afghan districts, several border crossings, and has laid siege to a string of scenic provincial capitals.

Earlier in the day, Russia censured the US mission in Afghanistan as a "failure" and blamed the withdrawal of foreign forces for the war-torn country’s rapidly deteriorating stability.

Rabobank: Massive Lockdowns And Many Vaccines Later, We Appear To Be Where We Were 18 Months Ago
[ZeroHedge] "Freedom Day!" The UK is officially removing Covid-19 restrictions - with the double-jabbed Health Secretary doing so suffering from Covid, and the Prime Minister and Chancellor in self-isolation. The latter two had initially not done so because --by complete chance-- both had been randomly selected in a new opt-out pilot scheme for essential public-sector workers. (The same odds art investors are prepared to embrace on the future price of $500,000 paintings by a totally-unrecognised artist.) For the rest of the UK, the ’pingdemic’ of government messages telling people to self-isolate due to Covid contact is proving massively disruptive to businesses, as key staff suddenly don’t turn up to work when there are already labour shortages.

With Covid-19’s delta variant rampaging, where are we really on ’Freedom Day’? There is furious debate, but the key data to watch are arguably from the UK and Israel, the two most vaccinated countries. In both, virus case numbers are surging: but vaccines can’t grant immunity, and what matters is serious illness and/or hospitalization. These are also rising among those who have not been vaccinated, and those who have; yet among the vaccinated, it appears to only be the very elderly and/or those with co-morbidity symptoms. In which case, massive lockdowns and many vaccines later, don’t we appear to still be where we were 18 months ago: facing a virus which hits certain demographics *very* hard, but which most others can survive with mild symptoms (if one overlooks the risks of ’long Covid’)? That’s what some say: others disagree.

Sadr city explosion is likely caused by a suicide bomber, explosives specialist says
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

A security source reported that the corpse count from the earth-shattering kaboom that targeted a market in Sadr City has risen to 25, along with 47 maimed, noting that it is likely that the earth-shattering kaboom was caused by a jacket wallah.

The source told Shafaq News Agency, "The explosives specialist arrived at the site of the earth-shattering kaboom, and he suspects that the earth-shattering kaboom was caused by a suicide bomber.

Earlier today, The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi, instructed to arrest the commander of the force in control in al-Sadr City, following the earth-shattering kaboom that killed and maimed 20 persons.

The Security Media Cell said in a statement that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces ordered the detention of the commander of the force in control in al-Sadr City, of the first regiment in the Fourth Brigade of the Federal Police, following the earth-shattering kaboom.

Al-Kadhimi instructed the Baghdad operations command to open an investigation to uncover the incident's circumstances, according to the statement.

A security source reported that 15 were killed and maimed in a kaboom that targeted al-Whailat market in Sadr City, east of Baghdad.

The source added that five were killed, including a child, and 15 others were maimed in the earth-shattering kaboom.
The Times of Israel adds:
Deadly blast in Sadr City, third to hit suburb this year, takes place a day before Eid al-Adha holiday, as streets busy with shoppers.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing, but the Islamic State group has claimed similar attacks in the area before.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Multiple explosions attributed to Israeli airstrikes near Aleppo in As-Safira, Al-Nairab Airport
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

The Times of Israel adds:
Israeli aircraft launched a number of missiles at targets near the Syrian city of Aleppo late Monday, Syrian state media said.

The official SANA news agency said that Syrian air defenses had repelled the strikes near the town of al-Safirah, southeast of Aleppo. Syrian war analysts generally dismiss the military’s regular claims of interceptions as false, empty boasts.

There were no immediate reports of casualties and damage.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a war monitor that has activists on the ground in Syria, said the Israeli strikes targeted weapons depots that belong to Iranian-backed militia operating the area. The group said the strikes were followed by loud explosions. The weapons depots were located inside Syrian military posts, the group said.

Video posted to social media showed a series of explosions in the area, while a video posted by SANA appeared to show a missile moving through the sky as anti-aircraft fire was directed at it.

The Israel Defense Forces did not comment on the reported strikes, in accordance with its long-standing policy to neither confirm nor deny its activities in Syria.

Aleppo is a major city in northern Syria, near its border with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
, and is an uncommon — but not unprecedented — site for reported Israeli Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s. The last reported Israeli strikes in the area were in September 2020.

The pace of attacks has slowed considerably in recent months.

The is the first reported Israeli strike on Syria since early June, when strikes targeted air force positions near the village of Khirbet al-Tin on the outskirts of Homs, as well as an arms depot belonging to the Lebanese Hezbollah terror group. The Israeli air force also hit targets in several regions of Syria, in the capital Damascus as well as in Hama and Latakia provinces. Eleven Syrian military members were reported killed in those strikes.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Biden hosts Jordan's king amid tough choices in Mideast
[AlAhram] King Abdullah is also set to have a working breakfast Tuesday with Vice President Kamala Harris and to meet with Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
First the senile figurehead, then two of the real deciders, and good reason to be terrified of both. But then, King Abdullah isn’t nearly as important in the region as he would like to be, either.

Biden praises Jordan king in White House meet expected to broach Abraham Accords
[IsraelTimes] US president to reportedly tell Abdullah that Trump-brokered agreements not an ‘end run’ on finding way to peace deal that includes Palestinian state.

Abdullah had a difficult relationship with Trump, whom he saw as undercutting any chance for a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians with his 2017 declaration of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. He also chafed at the Trump administration’s pursuit of the Abraham Accords — deals with Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Sudan, and Morocco that normalized relations with Israel, but left out the Palestinians.

Biden has no plans to reverse US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital. His administration has even praised the Trump-brokered accords — a rare instance of the Democratic administration speaking positively of the former administration.

Abdullah, for his part, praised Biden for “setting the standard” internationally in the battle against COVID-19. The US delivered 500,000 vaccines to Jordan days ahead of the king’s visit. The king also appeared to make clear that he was looking to reset the US-Jordan relationship after four bumpy years with Trump.

It is unclear whether Biden raised the United States’s long-standing call to extradite Ahlam Tamimi, a Palestinian woman living in Jordan who is wanted by the US on a charge of conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction against American nationals.

#5  That is not what this was about. It was a power play by Bergoglio The Jesuit Liberal taking a swipe at the orthodox part of the church.

If it was about the "conversion" thing, a simple statement would have changed that part of the missal, much the way they did a few years ago to the modern massin changing some phrases and other things, for instance, "Peace Be With You" - the old response was "also with you" and now its "and with your spirit".

THis was a simple power political ploy by Francis. It is a way to push the orthodox out of the way, so he can continue trying to promote proge\ressive trash and other modernist heteerodoxy, creating a real schism in the Church. If he was truly concerned with the unity of the Church, he would be acting on the schismatic Synod movement in Germany, not on the Latin Mass.

You all missed the point.

#6  Sorry TW, but you're wrong. As are the others, and this author.

That was a cheap shot article, and shoddy clickbait for a headline. Here is the whole of the truth:

At issue is the prayer for the conversion of the Jews in the 1962 Roman Missal. This prayer is one of the intercessory prayers for those belonging to various non-Catholic religious groups. These prayers are unique to the Good Friday liturgy, which consists of the reading of the Passion, the extended intercessory prayers, the veneration of the Cross, and the distribution of Communion using previously-consecrated hosts.

In other words, only at that one Mass, only one time in the year, in addition to prayers for other groups of non-Christian non-Cathoic people.

Pope Benedict issued a revised version which eliminated some of the language which in modern usage has negative connotations (perfidious, which originally meant lacking faith, for instance, now means treacherous).

Here is the prayer in its entirety: Read it for yourself.

Amen.

Let us also pray for the Jews: that God our Lord might enlighten their hearts, so that they might know Jesus Christ as the Savior of all mankind. [Let us pray. Let us bend our knees (kneel). Please rise.] Almighty and eternal God, whose desire it is that all men might be saved and come to the knowledge of truth, grant in your mercy that as the fullness of mankind enters into your Church, all Israel may be saved, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Not nearly as nefarious as the bunch of you are insinuating

#7  Sorry for the broken HTML. Laptops are evil when it comes to proof reading things.

And yes, I am busting your chops somewhat. This was like the the Know Nothnings, with as much knowledge as the Westboro Church shows about Catholicism in their screeds.

The prayer was changed 13 years ago. And this yo-yo of an author is using it to buttress a liberal Pope who as noted by others, is using it as a political cudgel. The author is probably a progressive/liberal as well, with his bias shining through.

Douglas County Georgia — Biden Allegedly Gets 100% Of The Vote In Many Batches

[USASUPREME] Former President Donald Trump
...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party...
declared his opposition to a high-ranking Georgia Republican’s bid for lieutenant governor.Trump invited other Republicans to run against Senate President Pro Tem Butch Miller in the statement released late Wednesday.

"I will not be supporting or endorsing Sen. Butch Miller, running for lieutenant governor of Georgia, because of his refusal to work with other Republican senators on voter fraud and irregularities in the state," Trump said. "Hopefully there will be strong and effective primary challengers for the very important lieutenant governor position!"

This statement comes after a series of allegations of voter fraud in Georgia went un-answered by some of Georgia’s top-ranking GOP officials.

The other Republicans in the race are Jeanne Seaver of Savannah and Mack McGregor of Lafayette.

Jones, of Jackson, was stripped of his committee chair post in January after calling for a special session to consider action to overturn Biden’s victory. Unlike Miller, Jones also signed a court brief supporting the lawsuit by Texas officials challenging election results in Georgia and other states.

Even though liberal fact-checkers rated these allegations as false, the controversy around the Presidential elections in Georgia didn’t stop.

Several months after the elections an image from Douglas County Georgia surfaced and allegedly shows that Biden gets 100% of the vote in many batches.

Iraq
Security forces arrest an ISIS '’General Prince'' after a multi-governorate manhunt
[SHAFAQ] A force from the Iraqi National Security Services apprehended a senior ISIS terrorist after a long manhunt throughout three governorates.

A statement issued earlier today, Monday, by the Security Media Cell (SMC) said that the terrorist served in a variety of different positions in the terrorist organization, most prominently the "General Prince" to the Shamiya, Raqqa, Badiya, Saladin, and Baghdad provinces.

The arrestee confessed to orchestrating many terrorist operations against civilians and security forces, in addition to his intentions to devise terrorist plots against targets in Baghdad.
Rudaw gives his title as emir, adding:
Iraq’s National Security Service (INSS) announced on Monday the arrest of the "Emir of Baghdad", considered one of the most prominent leaders of the Islamic State (ISIS) in the capital.

The INNS published a video of the arrest and alleged confession of the accused, who joined a terrorist group known as "Ansar al-Sunna"
...a common jihadi group name meaning The Helpers of the Sunnah. The one in Iraq is more fully known as Jamaat Ansar al-Sunnah or Jaish Ansar al-Sunna. It was a coalition of smaller jihadi groups based in northern and central Iraq (controlling the cities of Fallujah, Ramadi, Samarra, and Baquba), drawing turbans from both Arab and Kurd Sunni populations to fight against the American Coalition after 2003...
in 2008, before joining ISIS in 2011.

The suspect had held several positions within the terror group, he claimed, the most important of which was the so-called Emir of Baghdad. He also served as the Emir of several other areas, including Raqqa – the terror group’s Syrian capital – and confessed that he was planning to carry out several attacks in Baghdad.

One of his main tasks was to recruit new members for the extremist group, he added.

John Thompson after the Democrat lawmaker claimed that he was the victim of racial profiling. Following the incident, Thompson received a ticket for driving with a suspended out-of-state license.

That said, a lot of folks working in the Twin Cities live across the river in Wisconsin. Lower property and sales taxes. Although Minnesota requires that you get one of their licenses within 6-months of actually residing in their state.

500 Civilians Maimed, Severely Injured in Kunduz in Past Month
[ToloNews] Figures by aid agencies indicate that at least 500 civilians have been maimed or in some way severely injured in the last month of fighting in the northeastern province of Kunduz. Over 130 of them are children, the report said.

The report issued by local aid agencies covers incidents between June 11 and July 17. It shows that most of the children affected in this period have been maimed or have received serious damage to a body part, particularly limbs.

"Most of them are either children or teenagers whose limbs have been amputated or they have sustained damage to the face," said Esmatullah Hotak, head of an aid organization that operates under the UN in Kunduz.

"We helped 315 families... we are monitoring others," said Najibullah Omarkhil, the acting governor of Kunduz.

Meanwhile,
...back at the argument, Jane reached into her purse for her .38...
those affected by the conflict in Kunduz in recent years gathered in the scenic provincial capital and called for an immediate end to the violence.

"We were displaced three times in the past month. Four members of our family have been maimed," said Sharifa, a displaced person in Kunduz.

"I was maimed in festivities one-and-a-half months ago. We want peace. We are tired of war," said Naqibullah, a displaced person in Kunduz.

"My limb has been cut off. We are tired of war. We want peace. We want justice," said Shah Mohammad, a resident of Imam Sahib district in Kunduz.

Figures by the government show that at least 12,000 families have been displaced in recent festivities in Kunduz.

Danish Muhammad cartoonist Kurt Westergaard dies aged 86
[IsraelTimes] Westergaard’s drawings of the Muslim prophet sparked protests and outrage; a 2012 reprint by Charlied Hebdo culminated in a massacre that left 12 people dead in Paris.

Danish artist Kurt Westergaard, famed for drawing a caricature the Prophet Muhammad which sparked outrage around the Moslem world, has died at the age 86, his family told Danish media on Sunday.

Westergaard passed away in his sleep after a long period of ill health, his family told the newspaper Berlingske.

The illustrator was behind 12 drawings published by conservative daily newspaper Jyllands-Posten under the headline "The Face of Muhammad", one of which sparked particular anger.

The cartoons went almost unnoticed initially, but after two weeks, a demonstration against them was held in Copenhagen, and then ambassadors from Moslem countries in Denmark lodged a protest.

The anger then escalated into anti-Danish violence across the Moslem world in February 2006.

The violence linked to the cartoons culminated in a 2015 massacre that left 12 people dead at the Charlie Hebdo
...A lefty French satirical magazine, home of what may well be the majority if the active testicles left in Europe...
satirical weekly in Gay Paree, which had reprinted the cartoons in 2012.

Westergaard had been working at Jyllands-Posten since the mid-1980s as an illustrator, and according to Berlingske the drawing in question had actually been printed once before but without sparking much controversy.

During the last years of his life Westergaard, like a number of others associated with the cartoons, had to live under police protection at a secret address.

In early 2010, Danish police caught a 28-year-old Somalian armed with a knife in Westergaard’s house, where he was planning to kill him.
That would be the Al Shabaab-linked Mohamed Geele, who was sentenced to ten years for the crime. Heaven only knows how much time he actually spent behind Danish bars.

Ben & Jerry's to end sales in west bank
[Jpost] ...Ben & Jerry's announced on Monday its plan to boycott West Bank settlements and Jewish neighborhoods in east Jerusalem, by refusing to allow its products to be sold in those areas.

"We believe it is inconsistent with our values for Ben & Jerry's ice cream to be sold in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT)," the company stated in a notice it posted on its website....

"THERE ARE many ice cream brands, but only one Jewish state," said Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.

"Ben & Jerry's has decided to brand itself as the anti-Israel ice cream. This decision is morally wrong and I believe that it will become clear that it is also commercially wrong," he said.

The move gives a boost to the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which for the last decade has targeted the global company that began in Vermont and is now owned by Unilever.
It is not clear from this and other articles on the story exactly what the position of Unilever is on this or, indeed, of Ben & Jerry’s contractually independent board of directors for social action despite all the words laid down in sentences and paragraphs that look like they ought to make sense. Lord Garth very sensibly left those words at the link for others to struggle with.

2 More Texas Dems Who Flew To DC Test Positive For COVID-19, Total Now 5
[DFW.CBSLOCAL] Two more Texas House Democrats who flew to Washington, D.C. last week to block a vote on Republicans’ elections bill have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total to five since Friday.

The Texas House Democratic Caucus on Saturday said one member tested positive on Friday and two others on Saturday. Now, two more have gotten the virus, a person familiar with the situation told CBS News.

All five of the members who tested positive are fully vaccinated.

"The House Democratic Caucus is following all CDC guidance and protocols. This is a sober reminder that COVID is still with us, and though vaccinations offer tremendous protection, we still must take necessary precautions. We are in touch with public health experts in Texas to provide additional guidance. Our caucus will follow all recommendations from public health experts as we continue our work," Texas House Democratic Caucus Chair Rep. Chris Turner said in a statement on Saturday.

Later in the evening, State Rep. Trey Martinez Fischer, D-San Antonio, said he was one of the two who tested positive on Sunday.

Rep. Celia Israel, D-Austin, also said she tested positive this weekend. The other three House Democrats were not identified.

#7  #6 Vaccine is not a force field that kills any virus coming near. It, if successful, induces a more rapid, powerful, and specific immune response - and therefore, much lighter disease - when encountering the virus.
That is, vaccinated people (unless they're very old, or have some other problem leading to impaired immune system) have asymptomatic infection. But they still test positive.

'Ridiculous': Judge hit for ordering Trump supporter to remove 'F**k Biden' sign from yard
[BIZPACREVIEW] A municipal judge in New Jersey’s Roselle Park borough is facing condemnation and scorn for effectively violating a Trump supporter’s First Amendment rights because of a complaint reportedly made by the borough’s Democrat Party mayor.

That Trump supporter, Andrea Dick, has been displaying a slew of pro-Trump and profanely anti-Biden signs on the fence outside her mother’s home.

Or rather, she had been, up until Roselle Park Municipal Court Judge Gary Bundy issued a ruling last Thursday ordering her mother, Patricia Dilascio, to remove the signs containing profanity within a week or face a $250/day fine.

According to NJ.com, the judge argued that the profanity violates a borough ordinance, § 3-8, that explicitly states that homeowners are barred from displaying "any obscene material, communication or performance or other article or item which is obscene within the Borough."

Obscenity is defined by the ordinance as anything that "appeals to the prurient interest," "depicts or describes in a patently offensive way sexual conduct," "depicts or exhibits offensive nakedness" or "lacks serious literary, artistic, political or scientific value."

#12  Blot out the last three letters - 'F*** Biden', and see what the judge does. If the supposed issue is profanity, then Andrea substantially complies with the major provision(s) of the court order. In most cases, 'substantially complies' is all that's necessary to beat the rap.

Raj story time - I got an IRS goon off my client's back in much the same manner; I gave him the records he wanted and told him 'GFY' on the other parts of the summons, which was delivered to me and my client... on Christmas Eve. I spent that night figuring out what I mentioned above and said 'in retrospect, not a bad way to spend Christmas Eve when I can tell an IRS agent to go to hell and there isn't jack squat he can do about it.'

[Garowe] Somalia welcomed another contingent of Gorgor troops on Sunday following the successful completion of their training in the Ottoman Turkish-run military school in Somalia, as the country reinforces its troops in the fight against al-Shabaab
...... the personification of Somali state failure...
murderous Moslems.
And no doubt they’ll be blooded within the week, by way of a final graduation exam. Let us hope they only learnt good things from their Turkish instructors, and none of the bad habits of the modern Turkish military back home.
The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
is one of Somalia's security partners and has been working hard to ensure more troops are trained in the country, which is trying to stabilize the military after decades of backsliding, following the ouster of Siad Barre, the former military leader.

Chief of Defense Forces General Odowaa Yusuf Rageh commissioned sections of 9th Battalion troops to the Somali National Army in a ceremony that was held at the Ottoman Turkish-run military school in Somalia on Sunday.

"Units from 9th Battalion of Somali National Army’s Special Forces, Gogor were today sworn after finishing a military training in TurKSom Military Academy in Mogadishu. SNA Chief, Gen Odawaa Yusuf attended the swearing ceremony," state media reported.

In his address, Odowaa, who has been leading operations against the al-Shabaab murderous Moslems, asked the soldiers to serve the country with "loyalty and patriotism" adding that "our main role is to protect the country from aggression.

The troops will now be domiciled in several areas in Lower Shabelle and Middle Shabelle where the military has been pursuing the al-Shabaab murderous Moslems. Turkey is responsible for training both Gorgor troops and the Haramcad coppers.

The two groups of security forces have often been dragged to the country's tough internal politics with the opposition accusing outgoing President Mohammed Abdullahi Farmajo of often using them to settle political scores with his fierce opponents.

Early this year, they were accused of unleashing violence against peaceful protestors who demanded the exit of Farmajo after his term extension attempts. The government has often defended the troops from such accusations.

Besides the Gorgor troops, the country also benefits from special training of soldiers from the United States which trains the Danab Special Forces. The troops on Sunday killed at least 15 al-Shabaab faceless myrmidons in Lower Juba, the SNA force said.

Chicago launches initiative to tackle rampant gun violence
[Iran Press TV] The US state of reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel...
has launched an initiative to tackle the rising gun violence in one of America’s largest cities.

The state has tasked a 50-member group of officers to crack down on the availability of guns in Chicago.

"The point of this investigations team — which is new and unique, and a first in its class — is to get the gun before it hits the streets at the trafficking level," Police Superintendent David Brown said at a news conference. "These third parties need to hear me loud and clear: We're coming for you, and we're going to try to charge you with the highest charge we can, if not in the federal system, then at the state attorney's office."

The recent spike in the number of shootings across the country has become a source of concern for many particularly since the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
pandemic began.

The illegal gun market is only one of the myriad factors contributing to the situation in the Untied States today.

"Do not buy guns for violent mostly peaceful people is our message, or you will pay the price for them by doing what we hope to be serious time," Brown added, addressing those who buy illegal guns. "Whatever they're paying you to go buy these guns ... it's blood money."

Chicago is no stranger to gun violence but like many other cities in the US it has seen a spike in crime within the past year.

China-Japan-Koreas
Nork Women Drafted to Build Border Wall
[American Military News/Radio Free Asia] North Korea is forcibly mobilizing married women living near the border with China to toil away making cement blocks for the construction of a wall, sources in the country told RFA.
All the kewl countries are building border walls these days. Except America, which goes to show...
The wall will keep citizens of the northeastern province of Ryanggang from easily accessing the border, especially near the province’s largest city Hyesan, where the government uncovered a rash of smuggling incidents over the past year, following the January 2020 agreement by Beijing and Pyongyang to shut down the frontier and suspend all trade to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

The border closure has, however, devastated the North Korean economy and caused food prices to skyrocket, thereby increasing the incentive for smugglers to bring in food and products from China to make a living.

To stop illegal border crossings, North Korea has held public executions, deployed special forces to the border area, laid landmines to keep its own people from escaping, and ordered soldiers and police to shoot on sight anyone found within a kilometer (0.6 miles) of the border.
I bet they got those ideas from The Mean Tweeter.
"Though the construction of the two-meter-high cement wall with high-voltage wiring on top along the Hyesan border came out of orders…to prevent the virus from coming in from China, the goal is to permanently prevent smuggling and escape from the country," said the second source, who requested anonymity to speak freely.

China Will Not Un-Jam LeBron
[Breitbart] LeBron James’ disgusting China pandering is not going to save his Space Jam: A New Legacy, which is looking like a box office flop.

LeBron James’ Space Jam: A New Legacy died at the domestic box office this weekend with a pathetic $32 million opening (if that even holds). By comparison, all the way back in 1996, Michael Jordan’s original cleared $27.5 million on more than a thousand fewer theaters.

LeBron’s Space Jam sequel also cost $150 million just to produce, and that doesn’t include promotional costs, which easily puts it closer to $250 million.

Plenty of movies die a domestic death at the box office. However, they can still become profitable and declare themselves a worldwide hit, thanks mainly to China’s mammoth box office market, which has saved many Hollywood blockbusters from financial catastrophe.

Well, so far, the communist Chinese have said "no" to LeBron’s Space Jam sequel, and with it currently available on HBO Max, which makes top-shelf pirated copies easy to create, it’s highly unlikely a China opening can save it. But, of course, thanks to pirating, my guess is that everyone in China who wants to see Space Jam: A New Legacy already has.

China’s snub has to really sting social justice warrior LeBron James, the movie’s star and the NBA player who made a public fool of himself defending China’s Nazis back in 2019 after Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey tweeted out his support for Hong Kong protesters.

#3  Another little known fact and Wiki half-truth. Could be titled 'WOKE' and the 'Cancel Culture' the early years:

WIKI - From 1951 to 1959, a secret ban was imposed by the Icelandic government on the stationing of black US troops in Iceland. This ban was disclosed in late 1959. The Icelandic government relented somewhat from this policy in 1961, when it declared that it "will not oppose the inclusion of three or four colored soldiers in the Defense Force, but hopes that they will be carefully selected". The number of black troops increased gradually throughout the 1960s, and all restrictions were most likely unofficially withdrawn in the 1970s or 1980s.

On 15 March 2006 the U.S. Ambassador to Iceland announced the decision of the United States to withdraw the Iceland Defense Force before the end of September 2006. On September 30, the American military withdrew its final four Air Force fighter jets and a rescue helicopter squadron from Keflavík. Although NAS Keflavík has closed and the American military has left Iceland, the United States is still responsible for defending its ally and the facilities at Keflavík will still be available, in the event that a "surged expeditionary presence" is deemed necessary.

The Icelandic defence contractor Kögun has been contracted to operate and service U.S. Navy communications equipment and facilities left behind.

It was reported in February 2016 that the US Navy would return to Iceland to track Russian submarines

No, there was no "Secret" ban. Nor was there any "most likely withdrawn" local policy. Confinement to the base was mandatory. And yes, the Russians are still smiling.

Japan tolerates a US military presence out of necessity. If they were to acquire a nuclear capability, there would be no necessity. Just my opinion.

Klobuchar: Infrastructure bill could include voting measures
[KSTP] Congressional Democrats are exploring ways to include financial incentives for states to expand voting access as part of a massive infrastructure bill, a key senator said Sunday.

Democrats have been struggling to get their marquee election reform bill passed in an evenly split Senate, where Republicans remain unified in their opposition and rules require 60 votes to advance most pieces of legislation.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar
Senatrix from Minnesota, candidate for the Dem presidential 2020 nomination. You can tell the kind of husband a boy will make by the way he treats his mother. You can tell the kind of leader a politician will make by the way he treats his staff. Klobuchar is reportedly overbearing, snide, and dictatorial with her people. She see this as merely getting the best from them. Her name spelled backward in the Russian alphabet would be "Rachubolk," which sounds pretty daggone suspicious...
, a Democrat from Minnesota who chairs the powerful Senate Rules Committee, said in an interview that the priority continues to be passing the legislation known as the For the People Act, which would usher in minimum voting standards in the U.S. such as automatic and same-day voter registration, early voting and no-excuse absentee voting.

But Klobuchar noted that Democrats could also use the process known as reconciliation to advance financial incentives for states to adopt certain reforms. Election systems have been designated critical infrastructure on par with the nation’s power plants, banks and dams.

"You can do election infrastructure in there because that is part of infrastructure," Klobuchar said. "It’s no substitute for the For the People Act, but it is something we can start working on immediately and are working on right now."

Pushing election-related measures into the infrastructure bill would be a high-stakes gambit with no guarantee of success.

Under the congressional budget process, certain measures regarding revenues, spending and the debt can be approved with a 51-vote threshold, which is why Democrats are pursuing it. The process allows them to bypass a near-certain filibuster from Republicans.

But there’s a catch: The Senate’s nonpartisan parliamentarian can rule for the removal of any provision not directly related to the budget, or items whose budget impact is "merely incidental" to their intended policy changes.

In the end, Democrats would not achieve their goal of federal standards through the infrastructure bill alone but could incentivize some states to move in that direction.

"Money with incentives has passed before. So let’s see what we can get approved," Klobuchar said. "But again, that is only part of it. Look, it’s not the whole thing, right? But it’s a tool you don’t want to let go."

Biden transfers 1st Guantanamo detainee to home country
[AlAhram] The transfer of Abdullatif Nasser
...also spelt Abdul Latif Nasir, he is listed at Guantanamo Bay as prisoner 244, a member of the Al Qaeda leadership cadre...
could suggest President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S., father of Hunter...
is making efforts to reduce the Guantanamo population, which now stands at 39

The Biden administration, the same old faces in slightly different places, the same old ideas, the same old graft
...knaves, footpads, and adjusters employed by the Biden Crime Family. They leave a trail of havoc everywhere they turn their attention, be it the nation's borders, the Keystone XL Pipeline, or epidemics, sometimes on purpose, most times through sheer arrogant ineptitude. They learnt this stuff in college, you know...
on Monday transferred a detainee out of the Guantanamo Bay detention facility for the first time, sending a Moroccan man back home years after he was recommended for discharge.

The Moroccan prisoner, Abdullatif Nasser, who's in his mid-50s, was cleared for repatriation by a review board in July 2016 but remained at Guantanamo for the duration of the Trump presidency.

The Periodic Review Board process determined that Nasser's detention no longer remained necessary to protect U.S. national security, the Pentagon said Monday in a statement. The board recommended authorization for Nasser's repatriation, but that couldn't be completed before the end of the B.O. regime, it said.

Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama
teachable moment...
supported the prisoner transfer process, but it stalled under President Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
Trump said even before he took office that there should be no further releases from ``Gitmo,'' as Guantanamo Bay is often called. ``These are extremely dangerous people and should not be allowed back onto the battlefield,'' he said then.

The possibility that former Guantanamo prisoners would resume hostile activities has long been a concern that has played into the debate over releases. The office of the Director of National Intelligence said in a 2016 report that about 17% of the 728 detainees who had been released were ``confirmed'' and 12% were ``suspected'' of re-engaging in such activities.
So almost a third go back to their old habits, while who knows how many more support from a distance.
But the vast majority of those re-engagements occurred with former prisoners who did not go through the security review that was set up under Obama.
Someone very carefully did not mention the other security reviews done on President George W. Bush’s watch, reviews that may well have been more thorough than the Obama ones — as was so very often the case.
A task force that included agencies such as the Defense Department and the CIA analyzed who was held at Guantanamo and determined who could be released and who should continue in detention.

The U.S. thanked Morocco for facilitating Nasser's transfer back home.

``The United States commends the Kingdom of Morocco for its long-time partnership in securing both countries' national security interests,'' the Pentagon statement said. ``The United States is also extremely grateful for the Kingdom's willingness to support ongoing U.S. efforts to close the Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility.''

Nasser initially got news he was going to be released in the summer of 2016, when one of his lawyers called him at the detention center and told him the U.S. had decided he no longer posed a threat and could go home. He thought he'd returned to Morocco soon: ``I've been here 14 years,'' he said at the time. ``A few months more is nothing.''

Nasser's journey to the Cuban prison was a long one. He was a member of a nonviolent mostly peaceful but illegal Moroccan Sufi Islam group in the 1980s, according to his Pentagon file. In 1996, he was recruited to fight in Chechyna but ended up in Afghanistan, where he trained at an al-Qaeda camp. He was captured after fighting U.S. forces there and sent to Guantanamo in May 2002.
It sounds like he’d quickly got over the idea that violent jihad is icky.
An unidentified military official appointed to represent him before the review board said he studied math, computer science and English at Guantanamo, creating a 2,000-word Arabic-English dictionary.
Better check to make sure that among the definitions of jihad is violent conquest of the lands of the unbelievers by sword and terror for the glory of Allah.
The official told the board that Nasser ``deeply regrets his actions of the past'' and expressed confidence he would reintegrate in society.
Almost 800 detainees have passed through Guantanamo. Of the 39 remaining, 10 are eligible to be transferred out, 17 are eligible to go through the review process for possible transfer, another 10 are involved in the military commission process used to prosecute detainees and two have been convicted, another senior administration official said.

The Biden administration didn’t address how it would handle the ongoing effort to prosecute five men held at Guantánamo for the Sept. 11 attacks. It also has to resolve what it will do with detainees that the Obama administration particularly struggled with, either because their home countries were not considered secure enough to return them to, or because they were refused by third-party countries. About a third of the remaining prisoners are from the impoverished, warring country of Yemen.

The Obama administration, seeking to allay concerns that some of those released had “returned to the fight,” set up a process to ensure those repatriated or resettled in third countries no longer posed a threat. It also planned to try some of the men in federal court.

But the closure effort was thwarted when Congress barred the transfer of prisoners from Guantánamo to the U.S., including for prosecution or medical care.

The prisoner transfer process stalled under Trump, who said even before taking office there should be no further releases from “Gitmo,” as Guantánamo Bay is often called. “These are extremely dangerous people and should not be allowed back onto the battlefield,” Trump said.

Under Trump, only one prisoner, a Saudi, was transferred to Saudi Arabia to serve the remainder of his sentence after he agreed to a plea bargain.

Under Obama, 197 were transferred to other countries, while 500 were transferred by Bush. Most of those still at the site are being held without charges.

The Patriarch: You were not afraid to defend the faith
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
By Dmitry Steshin

[KP] In early summer, a group of judokas from Kyrgyzstan went to a boarding house on Lake Issyk-Kul for a two-week sports training camp.

A 9-year-old Russian boy, Ivan, returned from the training camp bruised and told his parents that he was beaten by the crowd for many days because he was Russian and Orthodox. He was forced to read the Koran. Dozens of teenagers participated in the bullying with the full connivance of the coach.

They now want to make him the extreme in this story. This is more convenient for local authorities, because national-religious intolerance, as you know, is only in Russia, while other countries are fundamentally devoid of these vices.

But, the story got publicity in the blogs and Ivan's parents did not remain silent, but removed the beatings and achieved the initiation of the case. A family of compatriots was supported by the Russian Foreign Ministry, announcing in an official comment that "it is closely following this case." Then Rossotrudnichestvo joined in . And now, the Patriarch.

The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, addressing the boy, wrote:

"It was with great concern that I learned about what happened to you at the training camp. I would like to express my sincere sympathy to you. Having shown courage and courage, you were not afraid of daring ridicule and bullying from your peers and resolutely defended your faith, defended what is dear and valuable to you. Your deed, courage and firmness are worthy of all support.

Millions of your brothers and sisters in Christ in Russia and in other countries empathize with you at this difficult moment. None of those who learned about this situation remained indifferent. Christians at all times have been attacked, but we always remember the words of the Savior, said by Him in the Gospel: "Take courage: I have overcome the world" (John 16:33).

True fortitude lies in generosity and nobility, patience and willingness to forgive offenders. It is these qualities, together with unwavering faithfulness to Christ, that distinguish His true followers. Looking at you, I am glad that today such steadfast Orthodox Christians are growing and maturing.”.

Patriarch Kirill invited the boy Ivan to visit Moscow and make a pilgrimage to Orthodox shrines.

In a historical context, the letter is very significant. It will sound and it will be eheard. Let's hope that now millions of Russians, by the will of fate, abandoned on the edge of the Oycumen, perhaps for the first time, on this unpleasant and painful example, have realized that they are not alone. They have a big and strong Russia and they are remembered there, they have not forgotten or refuse

As for soft power against islamics it's not worth much. Faith needs to be backed with death squads in this world. A dozen dead musulmansky judokas would ensure that.

56 Shot, 11 Killed, During Weekend in Mayor Lori Lightfoot's Chicago
[BREITBART] Fifty-six people were shot, 11 of them fatally, during the weekend in Mayor Lori Lightfoot
...the diminutive and vacuous Heronner da Mare of Chicago. When the corpse count rises she blames the guns, which are banned anyway. A racist to the bone, Lori sez that people with the same skin tone all think alike, not quite getting the implications for a city with a population less than thirty percent black...
’s (D) reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel...
.Breitbart News reported at least 25 people were shot Friday into Saturday night alone, and three of those shooting victims shuffled off the mortal coil.

On Monday morning ABC 7 / Chicago Sun-Times noted the number of shooting victims had risen to 56, with 11 dead.

Six people were shot in one incident late Saturday "in the 5000-block of West Ohio Street." The individuals were standing outside a location where a party had been held when someone inside an SUV opened fire on them. One of the maimed was a 12-year-old girl.

Another one of the maimed was a 15-year-old girl.

Hours later, an eight-year-old boy was shot while riding in a vehicle with a 28-year-old male "in the 2000-block of West 83rd Street." Both the boy and the driver were shot, but neither received life-threatening injuries.

The violence of the weekend in a continuation of the death and mayhem plaguing Democrat-controlled Chicago this year.

For example, 29 people were shot Wednesday alone, two of them fatally, and over 40 people were shot, 11 of them fatally, the weekend of July 9-11, 2021.

Nearly 100 people were shot over the long Fourth of July weekend, July 2-July 5, 2021, and 17 of those shooting victims died from their wounds.

As has been said here a few dozen times.
A Socialcrat city, where the thugs carry firearms and honest citizens are forced to go unarmed.

NOTE: We are talking Police Districts (Communities and Neighborhoods), NOT Chicago overall.

Chicago Police Crime Data site Chicago Communities/Neighborhoods .

Run the demographics for the Chicago Communities/Neighborhoods where the 10 highest number of shootings happen. You might find it does not correlate to Chicago's overall White - Black Demographic tally.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran imposes week-long lockdown on Tehran as coronavirus surges
[IsraelTimes] Public venues in 2 districts to close down starting Tuesday after daily cases almost hit new record
Which plague would this be? Allah looks like he’s trying to get them to notice his disapproval The lockdown — the nation’s fifth so far — will begin on Tuesday and last until next Monday.

All bazaars, market places and public offices will close, as well as movie theaters, gyms and restaurants in both the Tehran province and the neighboring province of Alborz.

Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
reported 25,441 new cases on Monday and 213 deaths over the past day, bringing the overall corpse count to 87,374 from among more than 3.5 million confirmed cases in the pandemic.

During an earlier surge in cases, in April, Iran reported the highest daily number of cases, 25,582. At the time, its daily corpse counts surged to around 400, below the grim record of 486 reached last November.

Iranian authorities have lately been warning about a new surge, fueled by the fast-spreading Delta variant.

In sanctions-hit Iran, which has the highest COVID-19 corpse count in the Middle East, less than 2 percent of the population of 84 million have received both doses, mainly of the imported Russian and Chinese vaccines.
