AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka dead at 72, sources say
[Politico h/t Insty] Adios Pendejo! Say hi to Hoffa
Trumka had served as president of the federation for more than a decade and has been a close ally of the Biden White House.

He died of what was believed to be a heart attack, a source familiar with the matter said. It was unclear when exactly it occurred, though it's believed to be either Wednesday evening or Thursday morning.

A third-generation coal miner, Trumka spent his career in the labor movement, serving as president of the United Mine Workers of America and as a member of the AFL-CIO’s executive counsel, as well as on various federation committees before being elected AFL-CIO president in 2009.

It was unclear whether Trumka was going to run for another term as AFL-CIO president or retire ahead of the federation’s convention that was originally scheduled for this fall.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
PM: High Holiday lockdown depends on vaccination rate
[YNet] - Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said on Thursday the prospect of a lockdown during the Jewish High Holidays next month depends on the rate of vaccination among those who have not already been fully jabbed against coronavirus and the over-60s who are now all eligible for a third booster shot.

"The future of the holidays depends on the number of vaccinated," Bennett said. "If you want happy holidays, go get vaccinated."

Bennett then went on to scold vaccine-hesitant Israelis, calling their decision to not take the jab "selfish and irresponsible."

"Every one of you has to go out and get vaccinated because if not, you endanger yourself, you are really endangering the environment, as if you are walking around with a machine gun and shooting Delta viruses at everyone," he said. "This is a selfish and irresponsible decision, none of you want to kill other people by mistake.

"The Delta is different from the original coronavirus pandemic, It's a different pandemic. It is completely different from the original epidemic, so there is a real need for two main basic rules — to get vaccinated and wear masks."
I blame it on Fauci!

Documentary filmmaker Ken Burns calls Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg an 'enemy of the state' and says he should be JAILED
[Daily Mail via Lucianne] Ken Burns blasted Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg as ’an enemy of the state’ who ’doesn’t give a s***’ about the United States and thinks he and his No. 2, Sheryl Sandberg, should be tried for crimes against humanity and put in prison.

Burns, has been a prominent Democrat, did not say why he thinks Zuckerberg is a traitor.

’He knows he can transcend it. He can get away to any place,’ Burns, the award-winning film documentarian and historian, told The New York Times.

’And so it’s just about filthy lucre, that’s it.’

Burns, the 68-year-old two-time Oscar winner, made the remarks during an interview with Times podcaster Kara Swisher, who invited the filmmaker to talk to him about his latest project - famed boxer Muhammad Ali.

He brought up Zuckerberg’s name unprompted even though Swisher didn’t ask about the tech mogul.

Swisher did not follow up on Burns' comments, and the filmmaker did not specify why he thought Zuckerberg was a traitor.

Instead, Swisher responded to the Zuckerberg comments by cryptically telling Burns: 'You’re going to love my memoir, Ken.'

The filmmaker said he thought tech moguls like Zuckerberg, Sandberg, and others should stand trial like the Nazis at Nuremberg after the Second World War.
Many would agree with Burns. There would be even more agreement if the MSM were tossed into that pot and some of our three-letter agencies.
’Because these people - and Sheryl is a complicit - the Nuremberg of this, is if it ever happens, which it won’t, will be pretty interesting,’ he said.

The two then move on to discuss the craft of documentary filmmaking.

China's war on big tech: Crackdown has wiped $1.2trillion off firms' value in six months - so is jealous Xi putting billionaires in their place, punishing Western influence, or something even MORE sinister?

#4  I had always heard that many of not most PRC companies were more or less owned by generals and CCP bigwigs. Two thoughts occur, neither of which is mutually exclusive:
1) Xi is crippling/punishing some internal opposition
2) Xi is crippling some companies that grew without the "proper" ownership.

#5  The Chinese government needs the money from the emerging tech investments to offset the giant hole in the banking sector caused by speculative loans on non existent assets. He's trying to release pressure on their investment bubble, while making sure that everyone understands that there's a pecking order.
I also think that they'd like to keep foreign money (and influence) out of their developing tech.

#8  Also, 1-child for so long ruined China's age demographics - expect one worker to support 2 older people in just a few years.

This is another reason for stupid western firms to stay out of China development right now. If you want cheap workers go to some hell hole where they don't need to support massive numbers of older people.

Afghanistan
Heavy Clashes Still Ongoing in Herat City
[ToloNews] Heavy festivities that began in Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
city eight days ago are still ongoing in the southern parts of the city, local officials said on Wednesday.

Afghan cops operations are occurring in the villages in the southern parts of the city, the security officials said, adding that the "Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
has been pushed back from the city."

"The operations are ongoing but slowly, as the Taliban are hidden in residential areas," according to the officials.

Two public resistance force members were killed and 15 others--including three civilians--were maimed in the past 24 hours, according to officials at Herat hospital.

A commander of the 207 Zafar Military Corps named Gulzar said: "There has been fighting in Ghaibatan and Hawad villages over the past three days. Ten Taliban fighters were killed yesterday, and their bodies have been moved by the people."

Mohammad Ismail Khan, former mujahedeen leader who is now leading the fight against the Taliban in Herat along with scores of public resistance forces, said that "the war in Herat city is being led by Pakistain."

He urged the residents of Herat city to rise up against the "clear aggression" of Pakistain, saying: "I want to make it clear that the war in Herat is a war between Pakistain and Afghanistan."

"This is not the Taliban’s war and the Taliban is a tool. Just as the Afghan people did not accept the dominance of the United States, Russia and other superpowers, they should not accept Pak dominance either."

A number of security force members who are battling the Taliban on the frontlines pledged to not allow the Taliban to enter the city.

"The enemy tried hard to enter the city of Herat these days, but we will not allow them to enter the city as long as we still have a drop of blood," said Mohamamd Nasir, a police officer.

A soldier in the Afghan Army Balal Ahmad said: "The Taliban had advanced but we pushed them back and they will never take the city of Herat."

Hundreds of families have been displaced during the fighting over the past eight days.

"The Taliban come to our area but when the security forces come, they run away. People are in a lot of trouble because of the war," said Abdul Qayoum, a resident of Herat.

Officials claimed that 30 Taliban were killed in the past 24 hours of fighting, however, the Taliban has not yet commented on their casualties in the festivities.

Taliban Killed 'Possibly 800-900 People' in Kandahar: Tadin Khan
[ToloNews] The former police chief of Kandahar and a member of the High Council of the National Reconciliation (HCNR), Tadin Khan, on Wednesday stated that the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
"does not believe in human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
," saying the group has killed potentially up to 900 people in Kandahar province in the past month and a half.

Human Rights Watch (HRW) issued a statement saying that Taliban forces that are advancing in Ghazni, Kandahar, and other Afghan provinces have summarily executed detained soldiers, police, and civilians with alleged ties to the Afghan government.

"Summarily executing anyone in jug, whether a civilian or combatant, is a serious violation of the Geneva Conventions and a war crime," said Patricia Gossman, associate Asia director. "Taliban commanders with oversight over such atrocities are also responsible for war crimes."

The Taliban denied the allegations.
No, no! Certainly not!
According to Tadin Khan, the Taliban forcefully took these 900 people from their homes and killed them.

"They possibly martyred 800 to 900 people in the past month and a half. The people have suffered enormously. The brutality that occurred in Boldak (Spin Boldak district of Kandahar) is unforgivable," said Tadin Khan.

The HRW statement also said: "Human Rights Watch obtained a list of 44 men from Spin Boldak, Kandahar, whom the Taliban have allegedly killed since July 16. All had registered with the Taliban before being summarily executed. Waheedullah, a police commander from Spin Boldak, had obtained a 'forgiveness' letter from the Taliban, but Taliban fighters took him from his house and executed him on August 2, activists and media monitoring these detentions in Kandahar said."

"The civilians who have worked with the government should not be targeted, it is a war crime and a violation of human rights," said Shahrzad Akbar, the head of the Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC).

According to the HRW report, the Taliban after taking over the center of Malistan district in Ghazni province began searching house to house "apparently to identify residents who had worked for the provincial or district government or security forces." The Taliban "took into custody dozens of residents, some of whom were later released after being compelled to provide assurances they would not cooperate with the government," said Human Rights Watch, adding that the organization "could not confirm the status or whereabouts of those not released."

"They killed many civilians," said MP Arif Rahmani.

#2  Dron wrote re BDA's and ghost soldiers: [The devil is in the cooking of numbers by the ANSDF itself, and the Afghan MoD officials, those oversmart sunnis who would add thousands of ghost solders, officers, equipment and buildings to their records just to skim from the budget. While a goddamn war was going on.]

In the Afghan milieu, the principal issue is trust. The problem is that the nation is not a nation yet, with a leader capable of marshaling the resources of its territory and people into a gigantic fist. So local leaders conjure up ghost soldiers in order to hoard resources for situations like this. They know that when they're up the creek, they're on their own. When they're under attack is when they start digging into their caches. And the central government figures that the locals are holding back resources, so they're dilatory with aid, lest the Taliban attack the capital with everything they have.

This boomerangs throughout the system, meaning that the most honest of the local leaders are hung out to dry, since they accurately reported their numbers and kept aside no excess for a rainy day. When they say they are being overrun and out of men and equipment, they really are in desperate straits*. If the area they are holding is critical to the control of neighboring areas, its loss can lead to a cascade of defeats.

Nonetheless, at the macro level, unless China is a secret funder of the Taliban, with the money being laundered through Pakistan, there is no way the Taliban can match the government's resources $5b in annual aid from the US. That's not even counting value of the B-52 (and presumably both drone and fighter bomber) strikes allegedly being used in behalf of Afghan government troops.

* That is why honesty is a lousy policy in the Afghan milieu. Any local leader who is honest is asking to get overrun. Given that if he and his men are killed, his kin and the kin of his followers will starve, he'd be wise to set aside something extra, even if it's for ammo and equipment that he knows won't be forthcoming on a timely basis from Kabul when it's a question of life-and-death, and he needs it now, not six months later.

IMHO, they should have flattened every North Vietnamese city with incendiary bombs, more or less the way Tokyo lost 100K dead in a single night. That would have brought North Vietnam to the peace table early. We sustained 60% of the GI dead we lost during the Pacific War. If we had imposed casualties on North Vietnam similar to Japan's - 2.5m, I expect they would crawled on their hands and knees to beg for an end to the bombing. Heck, we could have asked, medieval-style, for the family members of the Politburo to be handed over as hostages, to be killed if the guerrilla campaign resumed in the South. The marvel of modern laws of war is that we've reduced our fighting men to the status of disposable widgets while putting on a pedestal the fighting men of the enemy and the civilian support base that keeps their war machine alive.

Confidence in Institutions Falls. Support for Secession Rises (video, charts, hokum)
[Daily Bell] In this video, I analyze a recent Gallup poll about the low confidence Americans of all stripes have in the major institutions which underpin our society. I make the case that this is a good thing, as it provides a market opportunity to replace these crumbling rotted institutions with something better.

I also take a look at another poll which asked Americans from different regions if they would support new regional governments which replaced the United States.

The data shows people are not happy with how things are currently run, and want other solutions for how to run society, and solve political disagreements.

The data shows people are not happy with how things are currently run, and want other solutions

Fcuking data again. Does the data mention solutions other than secession? Do the polled numbers even have a clue what it entails? Screw that, how many could spell S-E-C-E-S-S-I-O-N correctly?

As relayed by KXAN, during an American Airlines flight from New Orleans to Austin, chaos erupted among three male passengers. A witness claims the hubbub began "over a seat that couldn’t unrecline."

The mechanical malfunction purportedly led to two men verbally attacking one other.

Two of the Texas Democrats Leave D.C. to Vacation in Portugal
[Our Community] Two Democrat Texas state representatives still haven’t returned after fleeing the state to break legislative quorum for a vote on a Republican-backed election bill. Now, the two lawmakers are reportedly taking a vacation in Portugal, a new report says.

The Texas House Democratic Caucus on Tuesday could not account for State Reps. Julie Johnson (D-Farmers Branch) and Jessica González (D-Dallas), the Texas Tribune reported Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Texas Monthly reporter Jonathan Tilove tweeted, "Hi. Covering the TXDEMS in DC for @TexasMonthly. More than 1,500 coronavirus-positive migrants released in one week into Texas border town
See also here.
[Washington Examiner] MCALLEN, Texas — A border city in south Texas declared a local disaster this week as it struggles to respond to surging cases of the coronavirus among migrants as thousands are released by the Border Patrol onto the street every week.

Last week, a record-high 7,000 migrants were released in downtown McAllen, where they were immediately tested for the coronavirus through a city contractor. More than 1,500 people tested positive over the past seven days, according to a city document issued Wednesday, compared to a total of 7,000 confirmed cases over the past five months. Those who test positive are told to quarantine for two days but are ultimately released into the public.

The city said in a statement that the "shockingly large number of immigrants" released by Customs and Border Protection into the city overwhelmed Catholic Charities, which provides humanitarian services in the city for migrants. "This significant change increases the threat of COVID spread or other lawlessness within the city," the city said.

The Catholic Charities shelter downtown has taken in migrants released by federal border authorities for seven years but has never seen numbers like those over the past few weeks. In early July, the shelter averaged 750 arrivals daily, increasing to 1,100, and up to 1,900 per day in the first few days of August. The center is only approved to hold 1,236 people at a time.

Question: Any one else wondering if the release of INFECTED Illegals is applicable to rise in in reported infections?

Side Item and use of Junta Logic: Why is it US Citizens on Vacation in Mexico are required to have a C-19 test showing they are NOT infected to be allowed to return? But at the very same time, the JUNTA is releasing 1000's infected illegals/Criminals in the USA and NOT stopping them from entry?.

Girl Who Was Touched by Creeper Joe Biden on Camera Confirms he Groped Her and Pinched Her Nipple
[TrendingPolitics] Back in 2015, Joe Biden went viral after he was video taped groping Senator Steve Daines’ niece on C-Span while meeting with his family for his swearing-in ceremony.

The girl, Maria Piacesi who was only eight years old at the time, was filmed standing in front of the Vice President Biden as he ran his hands up and down her upper body.

The way she reacted to it tells you all.

Six years later, Maria Piacesi is finally speaking out. Citizen journalist Jonathan Pasetti recently shared screenshots of a conversation he had with Maria Piacesi on social media app Tik Tok where she admits that President Joe Biden pinched her nipple. The teenager has since deleted her comments however the screenshots still exist.

"Did Joe Biden pinch you?" asked Pasetti asked on Tik Tok.

"Yes," confirmed Maria Piacesi.

Pinching a young child in their breast area is considered molestation. Joe Biden is a molester.

Afghanistan
After 7 Days, Heavy Clashes Still Ongoing in Helmand’s Capital
[ToloNews] Heavy festivities that began a week ago are still ongoing between government forces and the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
in Lashkargah, the scenic provincial capital of Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
province, said Attaullah Afghan, head of the provincial council.

The fighting continues near the police HQ, governor's office, prison, and other government buildings in PD1 of the city, according to Afghan.

"The Taliban reached the guard towers of the police HQ but the government forces engaged them," he said.

Several Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s have been launched by Afghan and US air forces since Tuesday night, according to security sources.

A market area was damaged during the fighting.

"Both the Afghan forces and the Taliban have suffered casualties but there is no exact information yet," according to the security sources.

Civilian casualties have also been reported but no exact information is available. Hundreds of families have been displaced.

On Tuesday, the commander of the Army's 215 Maiwand Corps, Gen. Sami Sadat, urged Lashkargah residents to evacuate their houses as the ANDSF is planning large-scale operations to clear the city of Taliban.

Gen. Sadat said he made the announcement because the safety of residents is the priority of the ANDSF.

After the announcement, hundreds of commandos lead by Gen. Hibatullah Alizai, the commander of the Special Operations Corps arrived in Lashkargah to launch a clearing operation in the city.

Gen. Sadat and Alizai launched the operation on Tuesday night but said they have made "no major progress yet," sources said.

However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
Fawad Aman, the deputy front man for the Ministry of Defense, said: "Fresh troops--including commandos--have been deployed to Lashkargah and a clearing operation has been launched. Because the Taliban hide in residential houses, the troops are moving slowly but carefully."

"The situation is bad in Lashkargah, the Taliban have captured most areas of the city and only government buildings are under the control of the security forces," said Nasima Neeyazi, an MP from Helmand.

UNAMA on Tuesday tweeted that at least 10 non-combatants were killed and 85 more were maimed in Lashkargah’s festivities.

"Civilians are bearing the brunt as fighting enters Afghanistan’s cities," it said, adding that "the Taliban ground offensive and the Afghan Air Force airstrikes are causing the most harm to civilians."

War Displaced 900,000 in Three Months: Watchdog
[ToloNews] Findings of the Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) released on Wednesday indicated that the ongoing war in the country has displaced 900,000 people in the past three months.

Benafsha Yaqoubi, a member of the AIHRC, said that the figure shows a 74 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

The watchdog called on the warring parties to stop fighting and announce a ceasefire.

Lailuma, a resident of Kunduz city, was displaced due to fighting two months ago and lost her husband in the war.

"We don’t have shelter, sometimes my children and I are hungry," said Lailuma.

"I was displaced two months ago and lost everything," said Abdul Mutalib, a displaced person.

"During one month's time, 32,284 families were displaced and this figure is shocking," said Benafsha Yaqoubi, a member of the AIHRC.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, Butch shot Black Bart's gun out of his hand......
a ministry official said that the government has begun delivering aid to the internally displaced people in various provinces of the country.

"Over the past two months we delivered assistance to 50,000 families across the country," said Abdullah Walizada, media adviser to the State Ministry of Natural Disasters.

Millions in federal money flowing to tissue bank that collects fetal 'heart, gonads, legs, brain': report
[FoxNews] The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has funneled at least $2.7 million into a University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) project that utilizes a tissue bank with organs from aborted fetuses, according to a release from Judicial Watch Tuesday.

The conservative nonprofit obtained hundreds of pages of public records requests, which detail Pitt's interest in harvesting fetal organs for a project known as the GenitoUrinary Development Molecular Anatomy Project, or GUDMAP. More money was requested by the university but it's unclear exactly how much it received.

Pitt's application specified that it sought to "develop a pipeline to the acquisition, quality control and distribution of human genitourinary [urinary and genital organs and functions] samples obtained throughout development (6-42 weeks gestation)." Forty-two weeks represents more than 10 months of pregnancy.

In 2015, Pitt told HHS that it has been "collecting fetal tissue for over 10 years … includ[ing] liver, heart, gonads, legs, brain, genitourinary tissues including kidneys, ureters and bladders."

It also revealed that the university sought a large number of minority fetuses, according to Judicial Watch — something Center for Medical Progress founder David Daleiden described as "racist."

The university told Fox News that the higher number of minorities resulted from an emphasis on those populations most impacted by kidney disease. "Projects funded by the National Institutes of Health must ensure appropriate inclusion of women and minorities," said David Seldin, assistant vice chancellor for news.

"They should also ensure distribution of the study reflects the population needed to accomplish the scientific goals of the study. Asked another way: Does the makeup of the study reflect the populations affected by the illness in question? In the case of the GUDMAP Tissue Hub, one of the goals is to support researchers looking for treatments and cures for kidney disease."

In a PureFlix interview last year, former university employee Lori Kelly discussed a federally funded project with researchers seeking to collect bladders and kidneys from babies as late as 24 weeks into pregnancy. Kelly said that as project manager, she worked to develop "a pull-down menu of baby body parts for researchers to choose from to submit to the tissue bank, so that we could send the body parts to them."

"And these researchers were all across the United States," she said, "from Florida to California." When asked, the University of Pittsburgh did not respond to Kelly's allegations earlier this year.

Both the university and its medical center have denied any wrongdoing.

Tuesday's revelation adds mounting scrutiny to a school that has already received attention for its use of fetal tissue.

"The University of Pittsburgh complies with rigorous regulatory and ethical oversight of fetal tissue research," Paul Supowitz, the university's vice chancellor, previously told lawmakers. "The researchers in this matter followed all applicable federal and state guidelines and regulations (with Pennsylvania having one of the most restrictive set of requirements in the nation), as well as strict protocols approved by the University. The University’s Institutional Review Board approved the acquisition of stem cells."

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has also maintained that it complies with federal law. It previously told Fox News: "NIH is committed to ensuring that research involving human fetal tissue is conducted responsibly and meets the

Earlier this year, Pennsylvania's state legislature held a hearing in which members discussed an experiment involving grafting fetal scalps, containing "full-thickness human skin," onto rodents.

That particular project utilized tissue from the university's human tissue bank. It was also supported by grants from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), which is led by top coronavirus adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci. While it's unclear exactly how much federal money was spent on that project, it was funded through two large grants — one $1,498,642 and one $430,270.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard drone commander behind ship attack
[JPost] Saeed Ara Jani, head of Iran's IRGC Drone Command, was behind the attack on the Israel-linked Mercer Street ship, Gantz and Lapid revealed.

Saeed Ara Jani, head of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ UAV Command, was behind the attack on the Israel-linked Mercer Street ship, Foreign Minister Yair Lapid and Defense Minister Benny Gantz revealed in a briefing with diplomats from UN Security Council member states on Wednesday.

"Ara Jani is the head operator of the IRGC Air Force’s UAV system, which struck the Mercer Street," Gantz told the ambassadors. "He provides the supplies, training, plans and is responsible for many acts of terror in the region."

Gantz pointed out that Iran is responsible for dozens of terrorist attacks in the Middle East, and operates proxies in Yemen, Iraq and other countries.

The defense minister said he would provide the participating countries with detailed intelligence on the matter.
Update from the Times of Israel with an additional name:
Defense Minister Benny Gantz and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid reveal to ambassadors of countries on the UN Security Council the names of the IRGC commanders he says are responsible for the recent UAV attacks on civilian shipping.

Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the IRGC’s Air Force, is behind dozens of terror attacks in the region employing UAVs and missiles,” says Gantz.

Sen. Hawley: Public schools must shape kids who love America and our founding
[NYPOST] Parents know something is wrong. It’s why they are showing up in droves at school-board meetings across the nation. They are sending a message. They don’t want their children taught that the true founding of America came in 1619, or that America is a systemically racist place, or that most Americans are oppressors. They don’t want their children taught lies. And they are right. Sometimes, these lies go by the name "Critical Race Theory

...teaches that skin color is the most important characteristic of any person, which translates to separate but equal with a different bunch in charge. All whites and Asians are born racist and racism permeates every aspect of society, which should be dismantled and the remains turned over to the kind of dipshit who pushes this nonsense...
," a pet project of the left that began, as many bad ideas do, in the academy and has spread in recent years across corporate America and into school curricula. Sometimes the lies are called "anti-racism."

Whatever the label, the central principles are the same. These doctrines teach that American society is structurally oppressive, that our culture is shot through with racism and other forms of bigotry, and that most Americans are complicit in racial oppression, knowingly or not.

The radical claims of critical race theory have become an article of faith for many on the left, but they bear little resemblance to our actual history.

Let’s be clear. This isn’t a nation of oppressors. This is a nation of liberators. This is the country founded on the worth and dignity of every individual. This is the country that gave working people the right to vote. This is the country that freed the slaves. This is the nation that has brought more good to the planet than any other people in history.

And it is time we defend that being taught in school. Critical race theory in any guise is a toxin. It poisons the bloodstream of our national life and drives Americans further apart. Sometimes, it seems that this is just what its advocates want: division, anger, hatred. But that isn’t what America needs. America needs the truth, because it’s the truth about our history and our purpose that unites us as a nation.

DAs close in on Gov. Cuomo, launch criminal probes in Manhattan, Westchester
[NYPOST] Prosecutors in New York City, as well as Westchester and Nassau counties, said Wednesday they have launched separate criminal investigations into sexual harassment allegations made against Gov. Andrew Sonny Cuomo
...Dem dynastic governor of Noo Yawk, the son and heir of the late Mario Cuoma and formerly married to a Kennedy. Acclaimed for his leadership during the COVID epidemic, he managed the nation's highest corpse count while successfully hiding the returns and writing a book praising himself. Among the nation's horniest politicians, he has about a dozen allegations of sexual harrassment and groping against him. Noo Yawk's politix being what they are, he is still hanging tough, waiting to ride it out....
based on the findings in a report released by state Attorney General Letitia James.

The probes will apparently target Cuomo’s behavior at locations including his satellite office in Manhattan, his former home in Mount Kisco, where he lived with his then-girlfriend, celebrity chef Sandra Lee, and the site of the new Belmont Park Arena on Long Island.

A front man for outgoing Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance said, "When our office learned yesterday that the Attorney General’s investigation of the Governor’s conduct was complete, our office contacted the Attorney General’s Office to begin requesting investigative materials in their possession pertaining to incidents that occurred in Manhattan."

Westchester DA Mimi Rocah also issued a statement saying, "As some of the Governor’s conduct described in the report occurred in Westchester County, we have formally requested investigative materials obtained by the AG’s Office."

Senator Introduces Legislation To Mandate Voter ID For States That Mandate Vaccine Passports
Playing hardball.
[ZH] After New York City announced that it will mandate vaccine passports for entry to events and even restaurants and gyms, a Republican Senator has introduced a bill that would make it mandatory for any state using a vaccine pass system to also use a voter ID system.
Dems are about to destroy one of the cornerstones of their long-term plan to cheat in every election.
Curiously though, anyone can still vote there without showing ID, a double standard exposed by Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-North Dakota, who has introduced a bill to mandate voter ID.

"If states that take federal money for elections feel the need to make residents verify a piece of information as private as their vaccination status just to return to normalcy, then they should have no problem requiring people to prove they are who they say they are when they go to vote," Cramer said in a statement.

Cramer added that the measure "would ensure that those states are consistent in their identification requirements and shine a light on those who hypocritically oppose voter ID laws but support vaccine passports."

When asked about the vaccine passport mandate in New York, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki expressed support, dismissing Peter Doocy’s point that many Americans are waiting for the FDA to fully approve vaccines or simply do not want the vaccine for religious or medical reasons.

Amr Khaled's spiritual chicken should serve as a warning of Islam led astray
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Egyptian Islamic preacher Amr Khaled recently excused himself off the air during an interview with Al Arabiya. Khaled seemed cornered by questions that were directed to him regarding a chicken commercial that he starred in where he claimed that this chicken will allow one’s soul to ascend comfortably to the Divine during prayer and regarding his connection to the Moslem Brüderbund. After several failed attempt
...Curses! Foiled again!...
s to divert the conversation towards what he called "spiritual matters", he opted to withdraw in protest to what he claimed were questions "fishing for errors". Amr Khaled’s latest fiasco interview should serve as a warning for the emotive form of preaching that appeals to the sentiments without a firm grounding in logical discourse.

Amr Khaled should be reflected upon as a phenomenon. A preacher who was shot to superstar status in the early 2000s. Khaled’s lectures would pack mosques with young women and men who were eager to feel addressed by a religion that they felt belonged to the elders and was divorced from their reality. Then a modern sheikh emerged who started preaching out of an elite sporting club populated by young people. As the numbers of attendees increased, Khaled took his following to larger mosques, started taping his lectures and landed his TV show.

Texas mom shot dead by husband after threatening to leave him
And now she's gone. Unlike the case if he hadn't shot her, she's not ever coming back, not no how.
[NYPOST] A Texas man killed his wife after she threatened to leave him and then opened fire on two of her children as they tried to flee, cops say.
Well, of course. They were leaving him too.
Lawrence Reed, 53, is charged with murdering his 36-year-old wife Valerie Junius at their home in Katy, west of Houston, on July 29, police said. He is also charged with shooting his wife’s 16-year-old son and her 20-year-old daughter as they tried to escape the home.
Give him a break. He was having a bad day. It could happen to anyone. I mean, who hasn't shot his wife when she cheesed him off?
"Show me some mercy. I is a widower"
Both children were shot but survived, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office says.
They were having a bad day too.
Reed briefly barricaded himself inside the home when officers arrived but later surrendered, according to authorities.
"Put the shootin' iron down and come out, Larry!"
"No! I'm having a bad day!"
"Valerie's day was worse!"
"No, it wasn't!"
"She's dead and you aren't!"
"I got to the gun first!"

Tanker hijacking off Oman coast 'false-flag' op designed to rally support against Iran, analyst tells Press TV
[Iran Press TV] A political analyst tells Press TV that the recent alleged hijacking of a Panama-flagged tanker off the coast of Oman was a "false-flag" operation and "media hype" aimed at damaging Iran’s credit and undermining security in the Persian Gulf.

"It was expected from the Israelis and Americans to start using [hues and] cries about the current affairs in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman and go for ... false-flag hijacking and unreal stories in order to rally international support for their bid to win a UN Security Council resolution against Iran," Mostafa Khoshcheshm told Press TV in an interview on Wednesday.

He said that after their failure to rally support for a UN resolution following a ship incident off the Omani coast in the last few days, the US and its allies went for a false-flag operation to pressure the international community into joining them in pressuring Tehran.

Tensions have simmered in the region after a suspected drone attack last week on an Israeli-managed tanker off the Omani coast killed two crew members and was blamed on Iran by the United States, Israel and Britannia. Iran categorically denied the accusation.

Meanwhile,
...back at the pound, the little lost dog backed into the corner and showed its teeth. And what big teeth they were!...
maritime sources reported on Tuesday that the Panama-flagged asphalt/bitumen tanker Asphalt Princess had been seized off the coast of the United Arab Emirates at the opening of the Strait of Hormuz — one of the world’s busiest waterways, accusing Iran of being behind the incident.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations said on Wednesday that the potential hijack of the Panama-flagged vessel had ended.

The security agency said the ship was safe and boarders had left the tanker, without giving any further details in its warning notice.

Khoshcheshm said such efforts by the US and its allies in the Persian Gulf were only disturbing peace and security in the strategic region, which was to the detriment of regional countries.

"They are actually disturbing security in the Persian Gulf, that’s detrimental to the security of all the neighbors ... because the Israelis and the Americans have long proved that they don’t care for security in this region because they don’t live in this part of the world. So they don’t sustain much damage while other countries in the region are victims of such hues and cries," the analyst said.

The Taliban claim responsibility for a car bomb attack on the residence of Afghanistan’s acting defense minister
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

The Taliban
...Arabic for students...
grabbed credit on Wednesday for a car kaboom on the residence of Afghanistan’s acting defense minister, while a blast near the office of the main security agency in Kabul just hours later maimed three people.

Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said the group targeted the residence on Tuesday night, adding that an important meeting was underway at the time.

For the latest headlines, follow our Google News channel online or via the app.

The defense minister survived, but the attack represented a deterioration in the country’s security situation and a sign that the capital was at risk of violence as the turbans take control of swathes of territory.

The blast targeted a heavily fortified area of the capital, which has in recent weeks largely been spared the violence hitting other parts of the country.

The Ministry of Interior said at least eight non-combatants were killed and 20 maimed in the incident.

On Wednesday morning, another explosion took place near a facility of Afghanistan’s main security agency in the capital, wounding two civilians and a security official, police said. No group immediately took responsibility for the blast.

The Taliban have stepped up their campaign to defeat the US-backed government since April as US-led foreign forces complete their withdrawal after 20 years of war.

Fighting has been particularly heavy around the city of Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
, near the western border with Iran, and Lashkar Gah and Kandahar in the south.

The late Tuesday bomb-and-gun attack in Kabul was aimed at acting Defense Minister Bismillah Mohammadi and other politicians. Government forces battled the unidentified button men for more than four hours. Mohammadi survived.

An Afghan military front man said an emergency had been declared in Lashkar Gah and government forces were getting reinforcements and US air support.

"Special forces have been sent to the area. They are in good morale," armed forces front man General Ajmal Omar Shinwari told Rooters.

The loss of Lashkar Gah would be a huge blow for the government, which has pledged to defend strategic centers after losing many rural districts to the Taliban in recent months.

Scores of families have fled from their homes in the small city, capital of Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
province, as government forces launched a counterattack against the Taliban.

The United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
reported on Tuesday that at least 40 civilians had been killed in Lashkar Gah in the previous 24 hours.

Taliban fighters had taken control of some radio and TV stations in the city and were moving into homes to stop people from helping government forces, residents said.

Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin remarks (Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited):
The Taliban have officially claimed responsibility for yesterday's car bombing in Kabul, calling the attack a "martyr operation."

The grouping statement states that the attack is a partial Taliban response to attacks and airstrikes by military subordinates of the Kabul administration on civilians in Afghanistan.

In response, the Taliban announced that they would target key figures in the Afghan government and various officials involved in attacks on civilians. De facto, high-ranking officials of the Ghani regime have been declared legitimate military targets, which of course will not bring the agreements between the government and the Taliban closer.

As a result of yesterday's attack in Kabul, 8 people were killed and 20 injured.

The militants blew up a car near the residence of the Minister of Defense and broke into its territory, where a long battle began with the minister's security. Among those killed are both militants (it is stated that at least 3 out of 4 attackers were killed) and guards, plus a woman was caught and killed in the street by an explosion. The minister was not hurt, so the liquidation attempt failed, although the Taliban demonstrated that he has long enough arms to try to eliminate the functionaries of the Ghani government right in Kabul.

Retracted COVID Paper Lives on in New Citations (ACE Inhibitors, Surgisphere)
[MedPageToday] Researchers around the world have continued breathing new life into a retracted study, which suggested that common antihypertensive medications were harmful in patients with COVID-19.
The result of which was if you're hospitalized for Covid and taking ACE inhibitors, they discontinued them, even though they may have been helping.
Published online on May 1, 2020 in the New England Journal of Medicine, the study relied on Surgisphere
Surgisphere.... the same guys with the HCQ study. Hmm.
data to claim an association between renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) inhibitor therapy and worse outcomes in hospitalized COVID-19 patients with cardiovascular disease.

The journal retracted the paper due to concerns about fraudulent data on June 4, 2020 in a widely publicized move, but the study has continued to rack up citations -- totaling at least 652 as of May 31, 2021, reported Todd Lee, MD, MPH, of McGill University in Montreal, and colleagues.

Just 17.6% of verified citations acknowledged or noted that the paper was retracted, according to their research letter published in JAMA Internal Medicine.
In May of this year alone -- 11 months after the article was retracted -- it was referenced 21 times.

"Our findings challenge authors, peer reviewers, journal editors, and academic institutions to do a better job of addressing the broader issues of ongoing citations of retracted scientific studies and protecting the integrity of the medical literature," Lee's group urged.

The hypothesis that angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors and angiotensin-receptor blockers (ARBs) may be harmful in patients with COVID-19 has been floated since the early days of the pandemic, with the reasoning being that since the SARS-CoV-2 virus enters human cells through ACE2 receptors, upregulation of these receptors could put patients at risk.

Several groups have rebutted this, showing that ACE inhibitors and ARBs are safe and perhaps even beneficial in patients with COVID-19.

Lee's group relied on Google Scholar to identify 934 articles that cited the retracted paper. After excluding preprints, duplicate citations, and false links on the search engine, there were 652 verified citations.

Most citations were used to support a statement in the article, and 2.6% included the data in a new analysis.

More than a third of citations occurred within the first 2 months of the retraction. More than half were published after the 3-month mark or later, with 27.8% published after 6 months.

"We chose to study [this paper] because it was retracted soon after publication, received prominent media attention, and was not subject to controversies, as has been the case for some studies of hydroxychloroquine and COVID-19, the topic of the other prominent article using the Surgisphere database that was also retracted around the same time," Lee and colleagues noted.

They acknowledged that their reliance on a single search engine left room for missed citations.

"Nevertheless, there is no reason for a retracted study to continue to be widely cited in the medical literature months after it was retracted, and, in some instances, for the retracted data to be incorporated into new analyses," the authors maintained.
There's links in the original paper.

American Medical Association Faces Backlash for Calling to Remove Sex From Birth Certificates
[THEEPOCHTIMES] The American Medical Association (AMA), the largest organization of physicians and medical students in the United States, came under fire over the weekend for a recent proposal calling to end the designation of sex on birth certificates. The proposal (pdf), which was adopted by the AMA’s Board of Trustees in June, states that recording the baby’s sex on the public portion of birth certificates, as has always been the case, has "potential for discrimination."

"Our American Medical Association will advocate for the removal of sex as a legal designation on the public portion of the birth certificate," the proposal reads, adding that information on a person’s sex designation at birth will still be submitted to the authority and only used for medical, public health, and statistical purposes.

According to the AMA, recording a person’s sex can result in "confusion, possible discrimination, harassment and violence" against those whose chosen gender identity or self-expression is different from their assigned sex at birth, whenever they are requested to show their birth certificate.

"Assigning sex using a binary variable and placing it on the public portion of the birth certificate perpetuates a view that it is immutable and fails to recognize the medical spectrum of gender identity," the AMA’s LGBTQ Advisory Committee argued. "Imposing such a categorization system risks stifling self-expression and self-identification and contributes to marginalization and minoritization."

The policy received widespread backlash on social media after it was reported by medical news site WebMD. Critics across the political spectrum expressed frustration over the disregard for biology, as well as concern that science is being subordinated by progressive politics.

"Who gains if biological reality is erased from birth certificates, and who loses?" Rachel Moran, a feminist activist, wrote on Twitter. "This is the most serious assault on women’s dignity and autonomy I have ever seen in my life."

#4  If they are worried about a mere M/F designation as a source of possible potential discrimination, then it is time to look at the birth certificate as a whole.

A birth certificate is basically a baby license. People are pushing back against requiring a license to be a dog groomer or a hair stylist. Do you really need a state license to be a baby?

A birth certificate is used to exclude so-called babies from many aspects of public life that we as Americans hold dear. Your birth certificate can keep you from voting or driving or buying a drink. It can be used to force you to attend daily education camps. It is past time we eliminated this discriminatory document. And probably the useless American Medical Association, too.

#6  The certificate is also a legal document employed to make males financially responsible for the kid even if the mother engages in making false official statements and knows that another sperm donor may be involved. It gives the state the power to impose involuntary servitude upon who ever is unlucky enough to have their name on the certificate without any DNA testing, just on the word of the mother.

Meanwhile, Florida is #26 in deaths per million. Texas is #25.

Secretary of Defense Austin to announce mandatory vaccine policy for all active duty military
[FOX] Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin is expected Friday to announce a mandatory vaccine policy for all active-duty forces in the U.S. military.

The directive for all 1.3 million service members to get shots in their arms comes one day after President Biden urged all federal employees to get vaccinated.

Officials tell Fox News Austin will make his recommendation to the White House tomorrow, and the official announcement is expected Friday.

The decision comes as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported a more than 64 percent spike in coronavirus cases nationwide over the last seven days.

Bubba,

There is most certainly such a law. What I think is going to happen is this: there have been hints for a few days now that at least one vaccine (IIRC the Pfizer) will be fully FDA certified by early next month. It's likely that whatever comes down from DOD will take that into account, which gives everybody about 30 days to get whatever vaccine they want, as long as they get one - but after that, they will have no legal reason to refuse. Troops can most certainly challenge it, and doubtless some will, but the DOD's response will be that there is a fully certified vaccine out there, and that's the one they're mandating.

God help us if the Pfizer vax suddenly starts exhibiting bad side effects at ANY point in the future.

#4  Apparently the law I referred to in the previous post has a major "gotcha". I copied this from an Instapundit post today:
Title 10 U.S. Code Sec. 1107(a) provides that the option to refuse an EUA product may be waived "if the President determines, in writing, that complying with such requirement is not in the interests of national security." Then pursuant to Dept. of Defense Instruction No. 6200.2 (issued 2/27/2008) the Secretary of Defense "may ask the President to grant a waiver of an option to refuse." Upon receipt of such request the President then may "waive the option to refuse for administration of the medical product to members of the armed forces."

This massive PDF has details.

#5  Indeed, Pfizer is anticipating having FDA approval sometime in September. so do not expect the mandate to be taking effect until after approval is granted.
unfortunately, Pfizer is also the most difficult to transport and store, so this will lead to more issues in the supply chain. That difficulty makes one wonder if some of the Pfizer vaccination fails were because the vaccine was not stored and transported properly.

Rockets fired from Lebanon toward Israel, IDF responds with artillery fire
[JPost] The IDF carried out three rounds of retaliatory strikes along the entire Lebanese border on Wednesday afternoon after three rockets were fired toward the northern Israeli city of Kiryat Shmona.

Sirens sounded in Kiryat Shmona and the communities of Kfar Giladi and Tel Hai at around noon, sending thousands to bomb shelters. Magen David Adom emergency services said they treated four people for anxiety attacks following the rocket fire.

The IDF said it identified three launches from Lebanon. One failed and fell inside Lebanese territory, while two others hit open areas inside Israel.

Gantz: Iran is 10 weeks from breakout to a nuclear weapon
[JPost] Iran will be able to break out to a nuclear weapon within 10 weeks, Defense Minister Benny Gantz told diplomats from UN Security Council member states on Wednesday.

"Iran has violated all of the guidelines set in the JCPOA [nuclear agreement] and is only around 10 weeks away from acquiring weapons-grade materials necessary for a nuclear weapon," Gantz warned.

"Therefore," he added, "it is time to act. The world must apply economic sanctions and take operative action against Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps."

In recent weeks, top Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, Foreign Minister Yair Lapid and Gantz have expressed alarm to the US and others that Iran is taking advantage of a long pause in negotiations to return to the JCPOA to dramatically advance its nuclear program. The talks have been on hold since June, and the regime in Tehran says they will not restart at least until after its new president, Ebrahim Raisi, forms a new government later this month.

Gantz’s remarks were made in a presentation with Lapid to diplomats from UN Security Council member states on Wednesday, as part of a push by Israel for the UNSC to sanction Iran for its maritime attacks, including on the Mercer Street, which is managed by an Israeli company, and Asphalt Princess in the Gulf in the past week.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud repeated Riyadh's stance at a virtual conference of the Aspen Security Forum on Tuesday that it could live with a "longer and stronger" version of Iran's 2015 nuclear deal with world powers if it ensured Tehran never obtained nuclear arms know-how.

"We certainly support a deal with Iran as long as that deal ensures that Iran will not now or ever gain access to nuclear weapons technology," he said, saying Riyadh would welcome an Iran that contributed to regional stability and prosperity.

"But that would require (Iran) engaging in the region as a state actor in a normal way..., not supporting militias, not sending weapons to armed groups, and most importantly, giving up a nuclear program which might be used... to develop nuclear weapons."

Biden has been accused of skinny-dipping in front of female Secret Service agents and his former Senate aide Tara Reade accused him of a 1993 sexual assault, The Post noted to Psaki at her daily press briefing. Many women went to the New York Times

"Well first I would say, the president has been clear and outspoken about the importance of women being respected and having their voices heard and being allowed to tell their stories and people treating them with respect. That has long been his policy, continues to be his policy," Psaki said.

She added: "That was heavily litigated during the campaign. I understand you’re eager to come back to it, but I don’t have anything further other than to repeat that he has called for the governor to resign."

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Vlogger Chris Chan arrested for alleged incest with mom suffering from dementia
[NYPOST] A controversial vlogger has been arrested in Virginia for incest — after audio was leaked online of her allegedly confessing to regular sex with her dementia-ridden mom, according to reports.

Comic character creator Christine Weston Chandler, known online as Chris Chan, was busted in Richmond on Sunday and later transferred to Central Virginia Regional Jail, where she is being held without bail, officials confirmed to The Post.

Greene County Sheriff’s Office confirmed in a Facebook post that Chandler was charged with one count of incest, calling Chandler "he" despite the trans vlogger’s preferred pronouns.

Her arrest came a day after the sheriff’s office "received information involving sex crimes against a family member," the sheriff’s office said, confirming Chandler and the alleged victim both live in the county.

"This is an ongoing investigation with additional charges pending," the sheriff’s office said.

The 39 year old — who is also known online as Sonichu — already faces up to 12 years in prison if convicted of the single count of incest, ABC7 noted.

The arrest came after a taped phone call was leaked allegedly catching Chandler confessing to having sex with her 79-year-old mother, whom she repeatedly featured in her online postings and has revealed suffers from dementia, according to Insider as well as local ABC station.

Calling it "incest fan" fiction come true, the person on the tape who is alleged to be Chandler said that her mom "made the first move," admitting she was "partially confused" and "it took a few tries" to get right, the reports said.

Government Corruption
Andrew Cuomo's eldercide was worse
[NYPOST] Although Gov. Cuomo’s "sexual misconduct and egregious mishandling of COVID-19 are both heinous," it shouldn’t be "controversial to assert killing the elderly through incompetence" is more "depraved," writes Robert Schmad at the Washington Examiner. Yet the media are "flipping the moral weight of the two wrongs." New calls for Cuomo’s resignation after the state attorney general’s report barely mention his nursing-home scandals. Still, at least he is facing "some kind of reckoning."

FROM THE LEFT: CHRIS CUOMO MUST GO, TOO
New York AG Letitia James released "a bombshell report Tuesday detailing multiple instances of sexual harassment" by Gov. Cuomo, yet, observes MSNBC columnist Laura Bassett, James also notes that "CNN
...the organization formerly known as the Cable News Network. Now who knows what it might stand for...
anchor Chris Cuomo, the governor’s brother, was part of a small team of advisers who helped him respond to the allegations." Chris even went "so far as to draft a statement" for Andrew in February. The governor "should resign immediately or be impeached," but his brother, too, "should resign from covering politics or be fired." After all, "it’s extremely inappropriate and unethical for a journalist to advise and craft the statements of a politician, regardless of family relation." The two men have both "amassed massive power and influence, while betraying public trust." Both "must go."

Austin Star Police Detective Accuses DA Jose Garza's Office of Criminal Witness Tampering in High-Profile Case
[PJ Media] Austin Police Department homicide Detective David Fugitt is a well-regarded veteran with APD and has worked more than 50 cases across about 18 years, solving all but about four of them. APD tends to place its most difficult cases under Fugitt due to his sterling record. Most recently, Fugitt has been the lead detective on the case of a shooting that happened in downtown Austin, Texas, in the summer of 2020.

On the night of July 25, 2020, a group of protesters illegally took over an intersection in downtown Austin. They approached a car as it was trying to make its way past the crowd through the intersection. One of the protesters, Garrett Foster, was carrying a loaded AK-47 rifle. As Foster approached the car in the darkness that night, apparently pointing the rifle at the driver, the driver, Army Sgt. Daniel Perry, fired his handgun in Foster’s direction from his car. Foster was killed.

Jose Garza was elected Travis County district attorney in the 2020 elections on a platform of prosecuting police officers. After coming into office, he reviewed Perry’s case and indicted him on a murder charge. The indictment came as a surprise, given the known facts of the case and Texas castle law.

Now, the lead detective in the Perry case is accusing District Attorney Garza of witness tampering in order to obtain the indictment. That detective is David Fugitt, the veteran APD officer known for solving so many cases. He has filed an affidavit in the case that clearly and unequivocally points the finger at Garza.

In the affidavit, which PJ Media has obtained, Detective Fugitt says:

BEIRUT , 5 Aug 2021 03:38 AM - REGNUM At least 84 people were injured during street riots in Lebanese Beirut, the press service of the Lebanese Red Cross Society reported.

“Thirteen of them were taken to hospitals, the rest were treated on the spot,” the organization said.

It is noted that the riots took place on the day of mourning for those killed in the explosion in the seaport of Beirut in August 2020. The funeral rally escalated into clashes with the security forces due to the participation of radical organizations in it. In response, the security forces used water cannons and tear gas.

At the same time, the press service of the Lebanese Department of Internal Security Forces claims that the demonstrators tried to seize the parliamentary palace. Nevertheless, the pogroms and riots in the Lebanese capital were stopped.

Arabia
Israel moves cyber sabotage units to UAE to turn Persian Gulf into crisis hub
[Iran Press TV] The Israeli regime has reportedly started a cyber-sabotage campaign in the UAE to interfere with the regional air and maritime navigation, thus shifting "the focal point of crisis" from the occupied territories towards the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman region.

Iran’s Nour News agency, affiliated with the country’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), carried the report on Wednesday, citing an informed security official.

"It has been about a month since Mossad (the Israeli spy agency)’s cyber units have transferred advanced equipment to one of the UAE’s emirates," the source told the agency.

The campaign seeks, on the one hand, to "disrupt the Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman region’s air and maritime navigation systems, thus destabilizing the regional security situation," noted the official.

On the other, the bid seeks to "transit the focal point of crisis away from the occupied territories towards the region and [therefore] reduce the political and security pressure faced by the regime’s ruling body," added the source.

‘SOWING DISCORD AMONG REGIONAL STATES’
Nour News described the campaign as "a comprehensive plan."

It further quoted the official as saying that, through the drive, Tel Aviv sought to sow discord and misunderstanding among the regional countries and force them into uncalled-for conflict.

The source described this as "the most essential goal" that was being pursued by the regime.

The official said if necessary, more detailed information would be released in due course concerning the whereabouts of the Israeli units, the nature of their technical equipment, and the team’s plans.

The source, meanwhile, expressed certainty that the Israeli team’s work was taking place in "complete coordination" with the United Arab Emirates’ intelligence apparatus.

The report came only a day after at least four ships broadcast warnings off the Emirati coast, suggesting that they had lost control of their steering operations under unclear circumstances.

Australia's Rugby and Rowing Teams Went on a Drunken Rampage Through the Olympic Village Before Departing Tokyo
[InsideHook] The rowdy night out involved holes in walls and a life-sized emu and kangaroo going missing for a period of time

Departing from Tokyo with a pair of gold medals, male athletes from the Australian rowing team left behind damage including vomit, broken beds and a hole in the wall in their rooms in the Olympic village after embarking on a drunken, rowdy evening that also resulted in a life-sized emu and kangaroo temporarily vanishing.

Rowing Australia, which was accompanied on their rampage by Rugby Australia, left their rooms in the Olympic village "in a messy and unacceptable state," the Australian Olympic Committee said.

However, no disciplinary action will be taken against any of the athletes after they apologized, according to Team Australia chief Ian Chesterman.

"Some young people made a mistake, they had left the rooms in a condition that was unacceptable," Chesterman said, per Reuters. "It is a book as old as time: a good young person makes a mistake, chapter two is a good, young person is full of remorse. Chapter three is a good young person learns from the mistake and becomes a better person. The rooms were not completely trashed in any way. [It’s] not the hardest thing to break the cardboard bed."

Chesterman also said the life-sized emu and kangaroo, the team’s mascots, had been recovered after spending some time in Team Germany’s section of the Olympic Village.

"The kangaroo and emu mascots were missing and we were very pleased to say they have returned. It was a bit of a mystery. There was a bit of a search and (we) were about to post wanted signs," Chesterman said. "It seems they enjoyed a pleasant holiday in Deutschland. The mascots enjoy holidays in the village from time to time. But we are very pleased they are back."

In addition to acting out in Olympic Village, Rugby Australia also demonstrated "unacceptable behavior" on their flight home to Sydney with the Australian soccer team.

"It’s extremely disappointing but both Rugby and Football (governing bodies) have told me that such behavior is certainly not acceptable within their sports and have sincerely apologized to the Australian Olympic Team," said Australian Olympic Committee CEO Matt Carroll. "The CEOs have undertaken to take the appropriate action and report back to us. While there has been no formal complaint from the airline, unacceptable behavior was brought to our attention and I directly raised the issue with our member sports CEOs."

The details of what exactly occurred on the flight have yet to emerge.

Memo to Eric Adams: If elected mayor, ditch homeless czar Steven Banks
[NYPOST] Democratic mayoral nominee Eric Adams
...retired New York City police captain, member of the New York State Senate, first Black Brooklyn borough president, law and order Dem after a brief fling with the Publicans. The New York Times isn't fond of him, suspecting he may not actually be black...
has floated the unsavory idea that should he win come November, he’ll likely keep some of Mayor Comrade Bill de Blasio
...cryptocommie mayor of New York and for some reason a Dem candidate for president in 2020. Corrupt and incompetent, his qualifications for office seem to consist of being married to a black woman, with whom he honeymooned in Cuba. He has a preppy-looking son named Dante, whose Divine Comedy involved getting his back hair up when a police car drove past him slowly. New Yorkers voted for him, so they deserve him...
’s City Hall picks in place — including homeless czar Steven Banks, who he said has done "amazing things."

God help us. As head of the Department of Homeless Services, Banks has been a disaster. His budget has ballooned by the billions, with little to show for it except an ever-more-prominent street homeless population.

Oh, and a long series of scandals involving corrupt nonprofit shelter providers and terrible shelter conditions. An April survey of street homeless found that 77 percent had stayed in the shelter system at one point but won’t go back, citing safety reasons as well as city social workers’ overall incompetence.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, Butch shot Black Bart's gun out of his hand......
the shelter population has soared, even as Banks has muscled new shelters into communities where they’re just not appropriate.

Banks’ biggest and most fundamental problem, however, is his refusal to take a tough-love approach. At all.

He spent his legal career fighting for homeless "rights" to occupy public spaces. In government, he’s refused to push for behavioral change; the pretense is that the only thing that makes someone homeless is a lack of housing.

If Banks were to stay on, New York City’s homeless horrors would only grow worse — bad as they already are. That will take a severe toll on the city. And on a Mayor Adams’ record.

BTW -- do some digging; Cuomo cronies and relatives have high-paying jobs with lots of those "homeless charities", and those "charities" funnel cash into the Democrat party. It's a big money laundering and payoff scheme; it's not intended to help anyone.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Man duct-taped to seat after allegedly groping flight attendants
[NYPOST] An "aggressive" passenger on a Frontier Airlines flight was duct-taped to his seat after allegedly groping two flight attendants and assaulting another, video shows.

Cellphone footage obtained by WPLG shows the flier, Maxwell Berry, 22, being duct-taped to the back of a seat on Saturday’s Frontier flight from Philadelphia to Miami, where he was arrested by waiting cops on three counts of battery.

The video also shows Berry scuffling with a male flight attendant and yelling profanities while sitting in a window seat. An arrest report alleges Berry ordered two drinks and then asked for another before brushing his empty cup against the backside of a female flight attendant.

The flight attendant told Berry "don’t touch me" before he started to complain about his gum and wrapped it in a napkin, the arrest report shows.

Berry proceeded to spill his new drink on his shirt, prompting him to go to the bathroom and come out "shirtless," according to the report. He then walked around the plane for roughly 15 minutes before groping the chest of two flight attendants, police said.

"He came from behind and put his arm around both of them and groped their breasts again," the arrest report reads.

Berry later punched a male flight attendant who was asked to watch him following the in-flight chaos, according to the arrest report.

Another passenger who recorded Berry’s being duct-taped to his seat said he was "aggressive" and attacked the male flight attendant without warning.

"Help!" Berry screamed as the tape was being applied to his face, eliciting some jeers from others on the plane, the footage shows.
"Help! Help! I'm being oppressed!"
Berry, of Norwalk, Ohio, later calmed down as the flight prepared to land, passenger Alfredo Rivera said.

Frontier Airlines said a passenger made "inappropriate physical contact" with a flight attendant and assaulted another during the caught-on-camera incident.

"As a result, the passenger needed to be restrained until the flight landed in Miami and law enforcement arrived," Frontier Airlines told WPLG in a statement. "The flight attendants will be, as required in such circumstances, relieved of flying pending completion of investigation of the events."

Afghanistan
Anti-Taliban chants, thousands including vice-President Saleh took to streets
[KhaamaPress] The anti-Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
rallying calls which were firstly chanted by people in Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
province Monday night spread to the Afghan capital Kabul, Khost, Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
, and Kunar province
... which is right down the road from Chitral. Kunar is Haqqani country.....
s the following night.

In Kabul, thousands of people erupted into the streets chanting ALLAH AKBAR (God is Great) to oppose the Taliban offensive and support the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces.

Vice-president Amrullah Saleh was among those who were crying the slogans opposing the Taliban.

While thousands were protesting on the streets in Kabul, thousands of others including women and kiddies were roaring the chants from their rooftops and the remaining were crying the slogans from the loudspeakers of mosques.

Kunar and Nangarhar provinces in eastern Afghanistan and Khost in southeastern also witnessed wide rallies crying ALLAH AKBAR in support to ANDSF and opposing the Taliban.

In Khost province
... across the border from Miranshah, within commuting distance of Haqqani hangouts such as Datta Khel and probably within sight of Mordor. Khost is populated by six different tribes of Pashtuns, the largest probably being the Khostwal, from which it takes its name...
, apart from the hundreds of people who have gathered on the streets, Mullahs (religious scholars) were chanting the chant through the loudspeakers of mosques.

President Ghani on Tuesday said that the chants imply who is respecting the sacred call and who is fulfilling the commandments of Allah. He accused the Taliban of killing innocent Afghans.

The Taliban front man Zabiullah Mujahid in a tweet reacted to the move and called the chants a lie and dubbed the protesters as Americans and Seculars.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
VA to start processing disability claims for certain conditions related to particulate matter
[Vantage Point] VA will begin processing disability claims Aug. 2 for asthma, rhinitis and sinusitis on a presumptive basis based on presumed particulate matter exposures during military service in Southwest Asia and certain other areas — if these conditions manifested within 10 years of a qualifying period of military service.

VA conducted the first iteration of a newly formed internal VA process to review scientific evidence to support rulemaking, resulting in the recommendation to consider creation of new presumptions of service connection for respiratory conditions based on VA’s evaluation of a National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine report and other evidence.

The process concluded that particulate matter pollution is associated with chronic asthma, rhinitis and sinusitis for Veterans who served in the Southwest Asia theater of operations beginning Aug. 2, 1990 to the present, or Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Syria or Djibouti beginning Sept. 19, 2001 to the present. VA’s review also concluded that there was sufficient evidence to presume that these Veterans have been exposed to particulate matter.

"I announced my intent to initiate rulemaking on May 27 to consider adding respiratory conditions to the list of chronic disabilities," said Secretary of Veterans Affairs Denis McDonough. "Through this process I determined that the evidence provided was sufficient to establish presumptions of service connection for these three respiratory conditions. This is the right decision, and VA will continue to use a holistic approach in determining toxic exposure presumptives moving forward."

The Southwest Asia theater of operations refers to Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the neutral zone between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, the Gulf of Aden, the Gulf of Oman, the Persian Gulf, the Arabian Sea, the Red Sea and the airspace above these locations.

Texas border city puts up temporary shelters to cope with ‘rapidly escalating' migrant surge
See also here for this week’s tally.
[FoxNews] The Texas border city of McAllen on Wednesday announced it is setting up temporary emergency shelters in response to what it describes as a "rapidly escalating" surge in migrants flooding across the border — and warning that the numbers are triggering a crisis in the city.

"Despite the City of McAllen and its community partners’ best efforts, the sheer number of immigrants being released into the city has become a crisis: a crisis the City of McAllen did not create and has proactively tried to avoid for seven years," the city said in a statement.

The border town’s city commission approved setting up temporary emergency shelter for the "overwhelming number of immigrants stranded in McAllen by U.S. Customs and Border Protection."

McAllen officials said the start of the current surge began in 2014 and has continued into 2021 — when the city has seen more than 87,000 migrants pass through. They said that, faced with a "rapidly escalating surge" of migrants, the city took action to "mitigate emergent health and safety risks."

The embattled city described in its statement a situation in which migrants are being admitted into the U.S. after being detained only for a few days, and often without being tested for COVID-19 by the federal government. While many migrants are being returned via Title 42 public health protections, the Biden administration is not returning unaccompanied children and migrant families with small children.

In what it calls an "unacceptable flaw" in the immigration system, McAllen officials said the burden has fallen on the local branch of Catholic Charities, which has established centers to provide families with essentials and help them contact family members or others already in the country.

Mexico sues US gun manufacturers over arms trafficking toll
[FoxNews] Smith & Wesson, Barrett Firearms, Beretta, Colt's and Glock among biggest names in guns being sued

The Mexican government sued United States gun manufacturers and distributors Wednesday in U.S. federal court, arguing that their negligent and illegal commercial practices have unleashed tremendous bloodshed in Mexico.
Too late. Should've gone after Eric "Chinless" Holder and Oblahblah
The unusual lawsuit was filed in U.S. federal court in Boston. Among those being sued are some of the biggest names in guns, including: Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc.; Barrett Firearms Manufacturing, Inc.; Beretta U.S.A. Corp.; Colt’s Manufacturing Company LLC, and Glock Inc. Another defendant is Interstate Arms, a Boston-area wholesaler that sells guns from all but one of the named manufacturers to dealers around the U.S.

The manufacturers did not immediately answer requests for comment.

The Mexican government argues that the companies know that their practices contribute to the trafficking of guns to Mexico and facilitate it. Mexico wants compensation for the havoc the guns have wrought in its country.

The Mexican government "brings this action to put an end to the massive damage that the Defendants cause by actively facilitating the unlawful trafficking of their guns to drug cartels and other criminals in Mexico," the lawsuit said.

The government estimates that 70% of the weapons trafficked to Mexico come from the U.S., according to the Foreign Affairs Ministry. And that in 2019 alone, at least 17,000 homicides were linked to trafficked weapons.

Alejandro Celorio, legal advisor for the ministry, told reporters Wednesday that the damage caused by the trafficked guns would be equal to 1.7% to 2% of Mexico’s gross domestic product. The government will seek at least $10 billion in compensation, he said. Mexico's GDP last year was more than $1.2 trillion.

"We don’t do it to pressure the United States," Celorio said. "We do it so there aren’t deaths in Mexico."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Four family members killed in Syria by Turkish forces
[Iran Press TV] Four members of a family have been killed in northern Syria in an attack carried out by Ottoman Turkish forces.

Syria’s official news agency SANA reported that Ottoman Turkish warplanes fired several rockets at residential buildings in al-Safawyia village on the outskirts of the city of Ain Issa in the northern countryside of Raqqah province on Wednesday. A man and three children were killed.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights blamed the Ottoman Turkish forces and allied hard boys, saying the rockets were fired on a village controlled by Kurdish fighters near the border with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
According to SANA, Ottoman Turkish forces have intensified attacks on residential buildings in areas in the northern countryside of Raqqah over the past days. They have been using heavy artillery, warplanes and drones. Casualties have also been reported.

Turkey views the US-backed People's Protection Units (YPG) in northern Syria as a terrorist organization tied to the homegrown Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which has been seeking an autonomous Kurdish region in Turkey since 1984.

House Dem calls for course correction or GOP could win 2022 majority
[NYPOST] The House Democrat in charge of making sure the party retains control of the chamber after next year’s midterm elections is warning that a course correction is needed or they could find themselves the minority again — with current polling showing the Democrats would lose the majority if elections were held now.

Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, the chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, told a closed-door lunch last week that if the midterms were held now, Republicans would win control of the House, Politico reported Tuesday.

Maloney (D-NY) advised the gathering that Democrats have to embrace and promote President Joe Biden
...... 46th president of the U.S. I'm not working for you. Don't be such a horse's ass.......
’s agenda because it registers with swing voters.

"We are not afraid of this data ... We’re not trying to hide this," Tim Persico, executive director of the Maloney-chaired DCC, told Politico in an interview.

"If [Democrats] use it, we’re going to hold the House. That’s what this data tells us, but we gotta get in action," Persico said.

Maloney, in an interview with NPR, said issues like climate change, infrastructure, the expanded child tax credits, immigration policies and election reforms will attract voters next fall.

"We’re making a bet on substance," Maloney said. "What’s the old saying — any jackass can kick down a barn, it takes a carpenter to build one. It’s harder to build it than to kick it down. And so we’re the party that’s going to build the future."

Zakharova remarked on statements of the French Foreign Minister about neo-Nazism in Ukraine
[REGNUM] French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves le Drian's statement that the popularity of neo-Nazism in Ukraine does not exceed the European average raises questions. On July 31, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova wrote about this in her telegram channel .

"Now I am already shocked, because everyone has long known about the Azov battalion, but not about the fact that in Europe is even worse," writes Zakharova. "And here questions arise not to Kiev, but to that part of Europe for which neo-Nazism, it turns out, is not a threat."

According to her, these questions should be asked in international organizations, for example, in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

We will remind, earlier the French senator Natalie Gulet said that during her visit to Kiev, she witnessed how they openly trade in Nazi symbols, and also record volunteers in the neo-Nazi regiment "Azov".

In turn, at the request of Gulet, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian noted that neo-Nazis are indeed present in Ukraine, but they are "of little influence."

As reported by IA REGNUM , in June in Kiev, a farewell ceremony was held with Orest Vaskul, the chairman of the Kiev regional brotherhood of "veterans" of the OUN-UPA and a member of the SS Division "Galicia." . The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, in particular the honor guard of the Separate Presidential Regiment named after Bogdan Khmelnitsky.

The deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Oleksandr Dubinsky, noted that the President of the country, Volodymyr Zelensky, would soon be able to be addressed only as "Der Fuhrer."

#7  ^ Across the Aegean Sea in Turkey, hundreds of local villages - many clutching small bags of belongings grabbed from their abandoned houses as the evacuation call sounded - began piling onto coastguard speedboats at port of Oren, to escape the vicinity of the thermal power plant.

The regional authority said 'all explosive chemicals' and other hazardous material had been removed from the strategic site.

'But there's a risk that the fire could spread to the thousands of tonnes of coal inside,' regional mayor Osman Gurun told reporters.

2 more dead Russian female civilians found in WWII mass graves site
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited. Via Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin:
[IZ] In the course of work within the framework of the No Statute of Limitations project in the Olonets region of Karelia, search engines discovered the burial place of prisoners of concentration camps created by the Finnish invaders during the Great Patriotic War. This was reported on August 4 by the Izvestia correspondent.

The archive released by the Ministry of Defense contains hundreds of evidences of massacres of prisoners of war and civilians

The burial was found the day before. According to the head of the search group "Olonets operational group" Oleg Levashov, representatives of the Rostov group of the "Search movement of Russia" found a burial near the village of Ilyinsky in the Republic of Karelia. Searchers found the remains of two women, one of them about 16 years old, who was shot.

"Olonets operational group" was the designation of a Soviet Combat formation during WWII, part of the Soviet 7th Army operating in Karelia, so is being used as a group name of those searching out the history of pogroms against Russians/Soviet during WWII.

According to archival documents, the burial site is located at the crossroads of three concentration camps in the Olonets district, the total number of victims of which is more than 8,000 civilians. According to Levashov, the search engines found this place based on the memories of local residents.

Finnish troops occupied the Olonets region by the middle of autumn 1941. On the Finnish-controlled territory of the Karelo-Finnish SSR in 1941-1944, several dozen concentration camps for civilians were created. By the beginning of 1942, there were about 24,000 people in them.

According to the archives, they mainly contained Russians, Belarusians and Ukrainians. The territory was liberated by Soviet troops in the summer of 1944 during the Svir-Petrozavodsk operation.

The Olonets region of the Republic of Karelia has become a traditional place for the patriotic action "Watch of Memory", where search engines from all over Karelia and neighboring regions come annually.

Earlier, on July 6, search engines discovered the burial place of Nazi victims in Salsk in Rostov region. According to a group in the social network VKontakte, Mius-Front, more than 3,500 civilians were shot at the clay pit of a brick factory in the city from August 1942 to January 1943. The information center "No statute of limitations" notes that people died en masse because of the hard work at this plant, where they were forced to work for the invaders.

Says Rozhin:
Yes, those same Finnish concentration camps organized by the same Mannerheim, to whom Ivanov and Medinsky recently tried to open a memorial plaque.

This story actually has one undoubted merit in the long run. The scandal with an attempt to hang a memorial plaque to Hitler's ally has actualized the topic of studying war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Finnish invaders on the territory of the USSR.

And the documents began to be in the archives of the FSB and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, and eyewitness accounts that had long been forgotten, and the graves with the burials of the victims of the army of the "good tsarist officer."

Good luck to the searchers and archivists in their future work, considering even the known materials about the crimes of the Finns, in Karelia there are probably still many such terrible testimonies awaiting their discoverers. Needless to say, one should think about a large memorial in memory of the victims of the Finnish occupation.
In case you're interested (and I can't imagine anyone on this forum would be) a site that chronicles the excavations and the history thereof, can be found here.

Cuba Threatens to Attack America: ‘We Are Armed'
[Breitbart] The official newspaper of the Communist Party of Cuba, Granma, published a commentary on Tuesday warning President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. SOld, boring, a plagiarist, fond of hair sniffing and grabbing the protruding parts of women, and not whatcha call brilliant... or is that an act?...
that the regime "has the weapons ... to repel any aggression" and is willing to engage in a conflict with America.

Biden has not adopted a coherent policy towards Cuba, which for the past 62 years has endured the repression of a violent mostly peaceful, anti-American communist regime. Following nationwide protests calling for the end of communism on July 11, which some estimates suggest attracted nearly 200,000 participants nationwide, Cuban-Americans on the mainland have encouraged Biden to consider various avenues of humanitarian and military aid for the protesters. Those asking Biden to implement a Cuba policy were in part reacting to the Castro regime’s response to the protests, largely defined by police brutality including violent mostly peaceful door-to-door raids, torture and sexual abuse of prisoners, public beatings, and opening fire on peaceful crowds.

Castro regime figurehead Miguel Díaz-Canel issued a call on national television on the evening of July 11 for civilians to violent mostly peacefully assault anyone considered a "counterrevolutionary," labeling it an "order of combat" in defense of the "revolution."

Biden has so far responded to the ongoing protests in Cuba by holding a meeting with Cuban-American celebrities and sanctioning three individuals already under sanctions set in place by former President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and whatever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
The column in Granma on Tuesday accused Biden, despite his lack of decisive action towards the regime, of being "poorly advised, erratic, irresolute," and "an ally of the Republican right and Trumpism."

"Anti-Cuban politicians ... Miami haters, supported by representatives of the Trumpist far-right of the United States, fueled by the resentment that defines them, continue to demand that the government of Joe Biden intervene militarily in Cuba," the article read. "A wave of bellicose hysteria sweeps the media and, above all, social media. We have seen the very images of Dante’s circles of Hell, where some of the enthusiasts promoting death will end up going."

#7  Cuba, "The Mouse that Roared?" Only, an old movie, right?

A small country decides to declare war on the U.S. Their notion is that the war would last no more than a day and without any casualties. The hope is that the U.S., as with countries they were at war with in the past, will provide lots of boodle to that small country for the rebuilding.

Government Corruption
Biden ATF nominee Chipman failed to disclose Chinese state TV hit used as propaganda by the communist state
[FoxNews] President Biden's nominee to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) failed to disclose to the Senate a media appearance on Chinese state TV, which may have been used as propaganda by the communist state to cover up a mass stabbing of children.

Biden's ATF nominee David Chipman appeared on a Chinese state-run media network, China Global Television Network (CGTN), previously known as CCTN, in December 2012 to discuss the government's response to the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, one of the deadliest shootings in U.S. history that killed 28 people and injured two.

CGTN, which reaches 30 million households within the U.S., "is an arm of China’s propaganda machine. It is controlled by the Communist Party and serves as part of what Mr. Xi has called Beijing’s ‘publicity front.’" as described by the New York Times. In 2019, the Department of Justice (DOJ) required CGTN to register as a foreign agent under the Foreign Agents Registration Act, or FARA.

According to DOJ, in order to protect the U.S. from covert foreign influence, FARA "requires certain agents of foreign principals who are engaged in political activities or other activities specified under the statute" to disclose periodic updates to the department.
