Chamber of Commerce Pressures Reps it Endorsed in 2020
[Townhall] After endorsing Reps. Cindy Axne of Iowa, Angie Craig of Minnesota, Antonio Delgado of New York, Josh Harder of California and Elaine Luria of Virginia in the 2020 election‐sparking backlash from Republicans at the time‐the U.S. Chamber of Commerce launched an ad campaign on Wednesday pressuring these same centrist Democrats to vote against the $3.5 trillion reconciliation package.

"This reconciliation bill is effectively 100 bills in one representing every big government idea that's never been able to pass in Congress," U.S. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Suzanne Clark said in a statement. "The bill is an existential threat to America's fragile economic recovery and future prosperity."

"We will not find durable or practical solutions in one massive bill that is equivalent to more than twice the combined budgets of all 50 states," Clark added. "The success of the bipartisan infrastructure negotiations provides a much better model for how Congress should proceed in addressing America's problems."

The ad spots highlight how the bill's tax increases "would be a body blow to our economy. Tell Representatives Axne, Craig, Delgado, Harder, Luria ‐ don't knock us out with these massive tax increases," the narrator says.

#1  The US Chamber of Commerce quit actually supporting small businesses some time ago.

#2  Agreed, Mullah Richard. I joined my local CoC about ten years ago, and then I started reading here & there about how the national branch was supporting this & that policy that went against businesses here in the US. I never renewed and I remember blasting somebody who called me up asking me to rejoin.

#3  2020 lobbying expenditure was about $30M and Business Roundtable was about another $10M

for context, the NRA did about $2M that same year.

The CoCommerce does have a magnificent building at 1615 H street in DC.

Let Them Destroy Each Other (Kurt Schlichter)
[Townhall] There’s something so satisfying about seeing liberals in a sissy slap fight with other liberals — you just want to grab up a bowl of popcorn, pop some frosty brews, and egg them on. The good news is that there’s going to be more of this coming because of the nature of the Democrat coalition — it is less an ideological alliance than a bunch of interest groups united by their shared perception that the GOP is against what is in their respective interests. When their interests collide, which they will necessarily do, then the fun begins.

Just watching Manchin and Sinema mock Schumer, who (as Hugh Hewitt noted) is desperate to ward off a primary challenge from up-talking, irony-free socialista AOC, restores one’s faith in cosmic justice. The libs are furious that Joe Manchin is ruining their party — it’s awesome. And their fussy threats are even more precious. Yeah, someone’s going to successfully primary Manchin from the left in West Virginia, right after the Boy Scouts let the Lincoln Project be honorary jamboree co-sponsors.

That Schumer and Pelosi are not feared like they should be by their own caucus is delightful. Mitch McConnell is feared by his caucus, and rightly so. And he’s playing this masterfully. Yeah, we have our own fights — including Trump’s silly campaign against McConnell, who is indisputably the most effective legislative knife fighter in generations. The guy drives me nuts too — his insurrection whining was stupid and lame — but no one wrecks the Dems’ dreams like the Murder Turtle. He just threw a Baby Ruth bar in the Capitol Hill pool by refusing to help raise the debt ceiling — the Dems have a majority, so it’s their problem. Of course, the Dems don’t want to do it because it looks bad — they want GOP cover. Mitch refuses to provide it, which is chum in the water to another Dem feeding frenzy.

It’s glorious.

The brawl and resulting BLM protest at the NYC Italian place was only the beginning. We'll see more and more battles between these elements of the Dem coalition, and we need to do as Mitch does and stay out of it. Let them pummel each other. Let them rip each other apart. Let them fight!

Rocky: Now Here's Something We Hope You Really Like!
[Federalist] It’s a rule in the national media that vaccine hesitancy is worthy of shame and scorn, right up until it collides with their most precious cause, the Black Lives Matter movement.

Hesitant (white) nurses? Outcast.

Hesitant (white) Facebook moms? Shun.

Hesitant (white) Trump supporters? Guillotine.

But there’s oddly been no prescription for the Black Lives Matter crew in New York who are accusing the city of racial discrimination by mandating vaccines for public, indoor activity.

Hawk Newsome, the co-founder and chairman of Black Lives Matter Greater New York, was quoted Saturday in the New York Times saying that restaurants "are using vaccine mandates to enforce their racist beliefs and excluding black patrons."

At a protest Monday in front of New York restaurant Carmine’s, Chivona Newsome, also a co-founder of the group, said of the vaccine mandates, "What is going to stop the Gestapo, I mean the NYPD, from rounding up black people, from snatching them off the train, off the bus?"

San Diego Teachers' Union Passes Resolution That Rejects Israel's Legitimacy
[Free Beacon] The San Diego chapter of the American Federation of Teachers passed a resolution this month rejecting Israel’s legitimacy as a country and accusing the Israeli government of carrying out ethnic cleansing, apartheid, and war crimes against Palestinians.

In the resolution, AFT Guild Local 1931, which represents community college teachers in San Diego, refers to Israel as "historic Palestine" and calls on the Biden administration to "hold Israel accountable for its complete disregard of international law" and implement a "prompt reassessment of military aid to Israel."

The statement does not mention Palestinian terrorism. It argues that Israel’s "indiscriminate bombing of the Gaza Strip has claimed a significantly greater and disproportionate number of Palestinian lives and destroyed essential infrastructure in the already oppressed occupied territories."

The resolution comes as hate crimes against Jewish Americans are on the rise and progressives across the United States ramp up a campaign of delegitimization and economic pressure against Israel. On Tuesday, House Democratic leadership removed funding for Israel’s missile defense shield from its spending bill, in response to protests from progressive lawmakers.

#9  This guild represents community college teachers? They waste two years for everybody who attends because nobody learns anything useful there. It's like another two years of high school which is pretty much a waste of time as well. Students attend community college because they need the credits to go on to upper division courses at the four-year colleges where they believe they might finally learn something useful. But the time is worse than wasted if this is the kind of crap they're teaching. Communist brainwashing is more like it.

Stunning Interview Sees China Warn "23 Million Australians" That US Pact Now Makes Them "Target" For Nuclear Attack
During an Australian TV primetime segment this week, the well-known China-based expert Victor Gao, who is vice president of the Center for China and Globalization and once served as communist leader Deng Xiaoping's translator, issued a chilling scenario and shock to his Aussie audience over the controversial AUKUS defense pact between the US, Australia and the UK.

Gao bluntly warned that the deal which will see Washington give Canberra nuclear submarine technology now makes all of Australia a target for nuclear strike:

"The watershed moment will be if Australia is armed with nuclear submarines to be locally produced in Australia, Australia will lose that privilege of not being targeted with nuclear weapons by other countries," Gao warned.

#6  Is China suggesting that other other option is a minimal and survivable nuclear exchange? Because I always though that the US would probably attempt to sink mainland Asia if attacked with nukes and that would probably cause issues in Australia even if the Chinese didn't directly target them.

Covid has Caused NO unusual excess mortality and other stats of interest
[OffGuardian] We get a lot of e-mails and private messages along these lines "do you have a source for X?" or "can you point me to mask studies?" or "I know I saw a graph for mortality, but I can’t find it anymore". And we understand, it’s been a long 18 months, and there are so many statistics and numbers to try and keep straight in your head.

So, to deal with all these requests, we decided to make a bullet-pointed and sourced list for all the key points. A one-stop-shop.

Here are key facts and sources about the alleged "pandemic", that will help you get a grasp on what has happened to the world since January 2020, and help you enlighten any of your friends who might be still trapped in the New Normal fog (click links to skip):

India-Pakistan
6 J&K government employees sacked for terror links
[OneIndia] Six employees of the Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
government were sacked for allegedly having terror links. They were also accused of having links with over ground workers.

Two among those dismissed were police constables. A few days back the J&K administration had issued instructions on the periodic character and antecedents verification of babus government employees.

The instructions said that the general administration department of every employee is mandatorily required to maintain absolute integrity, honesty and allegiance to the Union of India and its Constitution. The instruction also said that the employee shall not do anything unbecoming of a government servant.

The J&K administration took the decision after a designated committee mandated to scrutinise sensitive cases under Article 311 (2) (c) of the Constitution. The committee recommended the removal of the six employees over terror links.

Under this provision, the employee can be sacked of the President or the Governor, as the case may be is satisfied that it is being done under the interest of the security of the state.

It may be recalled that in July, the government had dismissed 11 of its employees. They included the sons of Hizbul Mujahideen
...Party of Holy Warriors, founded by Muhammad Ahsan Dar in September 1989. One of the Pak sock puppets waging jihad in Indian Kashmir. It was originally organized as the armed wing of Jamaat-e-Islami. In 1990, Dar declared Hizbul as the sword arm of Jamaat. Hizbul murdered many of the pro-independence intelligentsia in Kashmir. After the organization was taken over by Syed Salahuddin Dar and several other ex-Hizb leaders were assassinated between 2001 and 2003...
chief Syed Salahuddin
...the aging, morbidly obese chief of Hizbul Mujaheddin and the titular head of the United Jihad Council in idyllic Kashmire. Originally owned body and theoretical soul by Jamaat-e-Islami he and his organization are currently controlled by Pakistain's ISI. Salahuddin's hobbies include crocheting doilies shaped like the Taj Mahal, combing his enormous beard, and eating....

Afghanistan
Afghan Newspapers Stop Printing, Go Online
[ToloNews] The Afghanistan National Journalists’ Union on Wednesday reported that due to the financial crisis, around 150 print media outlets across Afghanistan have stopped printing newspapers and magazines since the fall of the former government. Many of these outlets continue publishing news online, while some have shut down completely.

Ahmad Shoaib Fana, chief executive of the national journalists union, said: "Print media has stopped in the country. If the situation goes on like this, we will face a social crisis."

Ali Haqmal, a journalist working for 8 Sobh newspaper, reports that the outlet is now publishing online. He said: "We made efforts to do whatever people expect. We focus on reporting online, and we still try to get the information to the people."

Ashaq Ali Ehsas, deputy chief of 8 Sobh newspaper, said: "Each day 15,000 papers were being published and distributed in Kabul and some provinces. The process was disrupted due to problems over the printing and distributing of newspapers after the fall of the government."

Arman Mili Newspaper is another famous newspaper which has stopped operating. Sayed Shoaib Parsa, the founder of the newspaper, said: "We had 22 employees here. All lost their jobs. We are waiting for the situation to normalize so we can restart publishing."

Watchdog organizations recently said the Afghan media outlets are running out of funds and face a lack of information under the Taliban

Afghanistan
BA degree holder replaces Ph.D. holder as V/C of Kabul university
[KhaamaPress] Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan sacked Muhammad Osman Baburi and appointed Muhammad Ashraf Ghairat as vice-chancellor of Afghanistan’s biggest university based in Kabul-Kabul University.

The appointment has reacted wide reaction in social media as a young bachelor degree holder replaced an intellectual and experienced Ph.D. holder as head of the best and the very first university in Afghanistan.

Muhammad Ashraf Ghairat was officially announced as the interim vice-chancellor of the Kabul University on Wednesday, September 22.

Ghairat is said to have been employed in the ministry of education in the previous government and was head of the assessment body of universities of IEA in the southwestern part of Afghanistan.

People including some Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
members have criticized the move and said that there were more eligible people than him among them.

Critics have also made last year’s tweet of Ghairat in which he justifies the killing of journalists and motivates the Taliban members to assassinate journalists.

The Kabul University in a statement said that he is only the acting vice-chancellor and the position can be reshuffled any time.

Terror Networks
Al-Azhar Observatory says 50 terror attacks make August 2021 ‘bloodiest month’ for Africa
[AlAhram] The terror operations during August in the African continent killed 460 people, injured 120 others and kidnapped 30 civilians and military personnel

Egypt’s al-Azhar Observatory said on Wednesday that 50 terrorist attacks took place in Africa during August, making it the "bloodiest" month this year so far for the continent.

This is compared to 49 terror operations during July, the Observatory said in a statement.

Somalia's al-Shabaab
...... Somalia's version of the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...

terrorist group has been the most active during August, the Observatory said, as it carried out 15 terrorist operations in Somalia and three in Kenya.

The operations carried out by the group killed 50 people and maimed more than 50 others, the Observatory added.

"The movement continues to intensify its terrorist activity to make gains on the ground on a daily basis," the Observatory said.

It warned that the continuation of such operations may impose the group’s agenda as well as its political, social and religious goals on the Somali people, especially as the group seeks power.

"This is likened by some people to the Afghan scene," the Observatory added.

It also referred to "unprecedented losses" the group bore as a result of military operations by Somali forces, backed by the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).

These military operations have killed around 430 gunnies in Somalia and caused the areas under their control to shrink, a matter that led some of the group’s members to turn themselves in to the Somali government, the Observatory added.

According to the eighth edition of the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) published in 2020, ISIS’s (ISIS) affiliate groups have become especially prominent in sub-Saharan Africa, increasing deaths affiliated to the terrorist group.

The report says sub-Saharan Africa includes seven of ten countries with the largest rise in terrorism, which are Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other...
, DR Congo, Mozambique, Niger Mali, Cameron and Æthiopia.

Late in July, UN experts said in a report to the Security Council that Africa became the region hardest hit by terrorism in the first half of this year due to the spread of the ISIS and al-Qaeda groups and their affiliates.

Caribbean-Latin America
19,000 migrants amassed in Colombia near Panama border
[AlAhram] Haitians form a significant portion of the tens of thousands of migrants colonists who have arrived at the border between Mexico and the United States in recent months, posing a headache for US President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. Sleazy Dem machine politician, paterfamilias of the Biden Crime Family, the guy who bungled Afghanistan...
's administration

Some 19,000 migrants colonists, mainly Haitians, are amassed on the north coast of Colombia, from where they hope to cross to Panama and find a route to the United States, an official in Bogota said Wednesday.

Some have been stranded for weeks in the coastal town of Necocli in the northwestern Antioquia department, waiting for seats on boats that cross the Gulf of Uraba by boat to Acandi, which borders Panama.

There are only 250 boat tickets available every day, said Colombia's human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
ombudsman Carlos Camargo.

He reported that a mission "evaluating the migrant crisis" at Necocli -- a village of 45,000 people -- counted some 19,000 undocumented migrants colonists there.

Most were Haitians, Camargo said on Twitter.

Haitians form a significant portion of the tens of thousands of migrants colonists who have arrived at the border between Mexico and the United States in recent months, posing a headache for US President Joe Biden's administration.

Waiting out the bottleneck in Colombia, migrants colonists rent private rooms or homes or camp on the beach, depending on their means.

Some 11,500 people have bought tickets to make the boat trip by October 13, and a further unknown number of people unable to purchase tickets have resorted to other forms of "illegal" crossings," said Camargo.

Once across, the migrants colonists start, on foot, the dangerous trek from Acandi through the Darien jungle, where they battle snakes, steep ravines, swollen rivers, tropical downpours and criminals often linked to drug trafficking.

In a recent report, Doctors Without Borders (known by its French acronym MSF) said criminal gangs in the jungle prey on migrants colonists, and assaults and rapes are common.

Under an agreement between the governments of Colombia and Panama, no more than 650 migrants colonists are allowed to make the trip daily.

More than 50,000 people have crossed the border Colombia-Panama border so far this year.

Once in Panama, MSF reported last month, migrants colonists are held for processing and deportation.

Those with pending administrative or judicial processes -- refugee applications, for example, or giving testimony against human traffickers -- can be held at a migrant reception center for weeks or months.

"The centers are a source of complaints, as those who are held there face inadequate food and shelter, a lack of clean water and showers, and no means to communicate with their families," MSF said.

The Colombia-Panama border is a key crossing for migrants colonists hoping to make a new life in the United States, often fleeing poverty and violence in their home countries.

Last year, a steady influx of migrants colonists from Colombia northward dried up due to coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
travel restrictions and border closures.

But officials say there have been several thousand new arrivals at Necocli in recent weeks.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Ravaged by war, Syrian rebel area struggles with virus surge
[AlAhram] Idlib faces all the challenges that places the world over have during the pandemic: Its intensive care units are largely full

Coronavirus cases are surging to the worst levels of the pandemic in a rebel stronghold in Syria _ a particularly devastating development in a region where scores of hospitals have been bombed and that doctors and nurses have fled in droves during a decade of war.

The total number of cases seen in Idlib province _ an overcrowded enclave with a population of 4 million, many of them internally displaced _ has more than doubled since the beginning of August to more than 61,000. In recent weeks, daily new infections have repeatedly shot past 1,500, and authorities reported 34 deaths on Sunday alone _ figures that are still believed to be undercounts because many infected people don't report to authorities.

Afghanistan
Mayorkas Presents Alarming Figures on the Afghan Evacuees Brought to US
[Townhall] During a Senate hearing on Tuesday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas gave alarming figures about the 60,000 Afghan evacuees who are already in the United States.

Appearing to confirm previous reporting that a "majority" of Special Immigrant Visa holders were left behind in Afghanistan—Mayorkas said only about 3 percent, or roughly 1,800, of those who have come so far are SIVs. Furthermore, 7 percent are U.S. citizens while 6 percent are lawful permanent residents.

"The balance of that population are individuals whose applications have not yet been processed for approval who may qualify as SIVs and have not yet applied, who qualify, or would qualify, I should say, as P1 or P2 refugees who have been employed by the United States government in Afghanistan and are otherwise vulnerable Afghan nationals, such as journalists, human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
advocates, etc.," he said.

Mayorkas also said during the hearing that almost none of the Afghans looking to resettle in the U.S. are being denied.

"So since the first of August, how many Afghan refugees have been denied acceptance into the United States?" Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) asked.

"I don’t have that number at my fingertips. I know it is very de minimis," the DHS secretary responded. "We have not found many people with derogatory information relative to those who qualify for admission to the United States by reason of their status."

Number salad.

60,000-((.07+.06)60,000)=52,200 not yet processed.
Of the (.13*60,000)=7800 that already have paperwork, how many will be checked for 'badness'?

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Suspect remanded for 8 days over Nahariya ramming that killed police volunteer
[IsraelTimes] Driver named as Nasim Sah, contractor from Arraba and former owner of local soccer club; police accuse him of negligent homicide and abandonment of his victims

The suspect in a Tuesday car-ramming that killed a police volunteer in the northern city of Nahariya was remanded for eight days on Wednesday.

The suspect was named as contractor Nasim Sah, 44, from the Lower Galilee city of Arraba. He is the former owner of the Ahva Arraba soccer club, which is no longer active.

Prosecutors are accusing Sah of negligent homicide, abandonment of his victims, and disruption of court proceedings.

Sah’s attorney indicated during the Haifa Magistrate’s Court hearing that the defense team will argue that the incident was an accident.

Police representative Lior Harari argued during the hearing: "This is one of the most difficult incidents the Israel Police has experienced. [The suspect] rammed two coppers, one died and the other is fighting for his life in the hospital. He did it knowingly, and he escaped."

According to an unsourced report from Channel 13 news, Sah has a criminal record from a previous conviction for transporting workers from the West Bank to illegally work in Israel.

Police said that the two-man police team had arrived at the Nahariya site in the morning, after residents complained of noise and work being done during the Sukkot holiday. The work was part of a project to improve flood defenses in the city. The team also began questioning Paleostinian workers at the site to check whether they were in the country legally.

The workers called Sah, who entered into a confrontation with the police. He then allegedly entered his car and ran them over. Eyewitnesses told Hebrew media that he then reversed and ran over the two coppers again before fleeing. He was arrested several hours later, as was another suspect.

The Kan public broadcaster said that Sah had admitted to driving the offending car, but claimed he never noticed hitting anyone. The report said that officials were investigating whether the attack was premeditated.

Sah has been reported to be a building contractor and the brother of the owner of the company carrying out the construction work.

Channel 13 reported that police were also expected to check whether officials overseeing the operation had known that the construction work was being done during a holiday, as well as whether they were aware that illegal workers were being used.

Police on Tuesday night arrested two Paleostinian illegal workers suspected of being accomplices in the ramming who were allegedly at the construction site in the northern city.

Police nabbed the two suspects along with nine other illegal workers near Jerusalem in the evening. The two were taken for questioning. A third suspected accomplice is still on the lam.

The police volunteer killed was named as 32-year-old Hossam Zaghir, a Druze father of two from the town of Yarka in the north of Israel. Police said that he had been volunteering since 2016.

Zaghir’s uncle told Kan that his nephew volunteered to work the shift so that a Jewish colleague could celebrate the Jewish festival of Sukkot.

Zaghir was set to be buried at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Police initially investigated the incident as a potential nationalistic attack, but later said that it appeared to be criminal in nature.

Five Killed in Five Attacks in Jalalabad
[ToloNews] Jalalabad city in the eastern province of Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
witnessed five security incidents on Wednesday morning.

Four explosions in different parts of the city took the lives of two people and injured three others, eyewitnesses told TOLOnews.

Those maimed have been transferred to the hospital in the provincial center.

In the meantime, a button men attack in an area near a base of the border forces of the former government resulted in three people killed.

No details have been obtained on the intended target of the attacks.

The head of the information and culture department of Nangarhar province said all those killed and maimed were civilians and no Taliban

forces were harmed in the attack.

So far, no group has grabbed credit for the earth-shattering kabooms or attack by button men.

Earlier this week, however, ISIS grabbed credit for previous explosions in Nangarhar.

ISIS also grabbed credit for the earth-shattering kabooms outside Kabul airport in August.

The attacks follow repeated statements by Zabihullah Mujahid, deputy minister for the Ministry of Information and Culture, that ISIS movements in Afghanistan are not at a scale that could pose a security threat.

Mujahid has also said that Taliban forces have the capability to counter ISIS.

International-UN-NGOs
Personnel: Taliban Names Afghan UN Envoy, Now to See if UN Accepts Him
[ToloNews] The Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
have asked to address world leaders at the United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
in New York this week and nominated their Doha-based front man Suhail Shaheen as Afghanistan's U.N. ambassador, according to a letter seen by Rooters on Tuesday.

Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi made the request in a letter to U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres
...Portuguese politician and diplomat, ninth Secretary-General of the United Nations. Previously, he was the UN High Commissioner for Refugees between 2005 and 2015. He was the Prime Minister of Portugal from 1995 to 2002 and was the Secretary-General of the Socialist Party from 1992 to 2002. He served as President of the Socialist International from 1999 to 2005. In both a 2012 and 2014 poll, the Portuguese public ranked him as the best Prime Minister of the previous 30 years...
on Monday. Muttaqi asked to speak during the annual high-level meeting of the General Assembly, which finishes on Monday.

Guterres' spokesperson, Farhan Haq, confirmed Muttaqi's letter. The move sets up a showdown with Ghulam Isaczai, the U.N. ambassador in New York representing Afghanistan's government ousted last month by the Taliban.

Haq said the rival requests for Afghanistan's U.N. seat had been sent to a nine-member credentials committee, whose members include the United States, China and Russia. The committee is unlikely to meet on the issue before Monday, so it is doubtful that the Taliban foreign minister will address the world body.

Eventual U.N. acceptance of the ambassador of the Taliban would be an important step in Taliban's bid for international recognition, which could help unlock badly needed funds for the cash-strapped Afghan economy.

Guterres has said that the Taliban's desire for international recognition is the only leverage other countries have to press for inclusive government and respect for rights, particularly for women, in Afghanistan.

The Taliban letter said Isaczai's mission "is considered over and that he no longer represents Afghanistan," said Haq.

Until a decision is made by the credentials committee Isaczai will remain in the seat, according to the General Assembly rules. He is currently scheduled to address the final day of the meeting on Sept. 27, but it was not immediately clear if any countries might object in the wake of the Taliban letter.

The committee traditionally meets in October or November to assess the credentials of all U.N. members before submitting a report for General Assembly approval before the end of the year. The committee and General Assembly usually operate by consensus on credentials, diplomats said.

Others members of the committee are the Bahamas, Bhutan, Chile, Namibia, Sierra Leone and Sweden.

When the Taliban last ruled between 1996 and 2001 the ambassador of the Afghan government they toppled remained the U.N. representative after the credentials committee deferred its decision on rival claims to the seat.

The decision was postponed "on the understanding that the current representatives of Afghanistan accredited to the United Nations would continue to participate in the work of the General Assembly," according to the committee report.

Taliban face uphill battle in efforts to speak at UN meeting

[AlAhram] The Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
are challenging the credentials of the ambassador from Afghanistan's former government and asking to speak at the General Assembly's high-level meeting of world leaders this week

The new rulers of Afghanistan have an uphill battle in their efforts to be recognized in time to address other world leaders at the United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
this year.

The Taliban are challenging the credentials of the ambassador from Afghanistan's former government and asking to speak at the General Assembly's high-level meeting of world leaders this week, according to a letter sent to the United Nations.

The decision now rests with a U.N. committee that generally meets in November and will issue a ruling ``in due course,`` the General Assembly's spokeswoman said Wednesday.

U.N. officials are confronting this dilemma just over a month after the Taliban, ejected from Afghanistan by the United States and its allies after 9/11, swept back into power by taking over territory with surprising speed as U.S. forces prepared to withdraw from the country at the end of August. The Western-backed government collapsed on Aug. 15.

In cases of disputes over seats at the United Nations, the General Assembly's nine-member credentials committee must meet to make a decision. Letters from Afghanistan's currently recognized U.N. ambassador, Ghulam Isaczai, who represents the former government, and from Taliban Foreign Minister Ameer Khan Muttaqi, are before the committee, assembly spokeswoman Monica Grayley said.

``Only the committee can decide when to meet,'' Grayley said.

The committee's members are the United States, Russia, China, Bahama, Bhutan, Chile, Namibia, Sierra Leone and Sweden.

Afghanistan is listed as the final speaker of the ministerial meeting on Monday, Sept. 27, and if there no decision by then, Isaczai, Afghanistan's currently recognized U.N. ambassador, will give the address.

When the Taliban last ruled from 1996 to 2001, the U.N. refused to recognize their government and instead gave Afghanistan's seat to the previous, warlord-dominated government of President Burhanuddin Rabbani
... the gentlemanly murdered legitimate president of Afghanistan...
, who was killed by a jacket wallah in 2011. It was Rabbani's government that brought the late Osama bin Laden
...... who used to be alive but now he's not......
, the criminal mastermind of 9/11, to Afghanistan from Sudan in 1996.

The Taliban have said they want international recognition and financial help to rebuild the war-battered country. But the makeup of the new Taliban government poses a dilemma for the United Nations. Several of the interim ministers -- including Muttaqi -- are on the U.N.'s so-called blacklist of international turbans and funders of terrorism.

Credentials committee members could also use Taliban recognition as leverage to press for a more inclusive government that guarantees human rights
...which often include carefully measured allowances of freedom at the convenience of the state...
, especially for girls who were barred from going to school during their previous rule, and women who weren't able to work.

Returning Afghan females to purdah: Kabul Restaurants Closed. Prosecutors House-Bound
Kabul Restaurants Owned, Staffed by Women Now Closed
Forward to the past.
[ToloNews] Women-owned businesses, especially restaurants and cafes, have remained closed for the past month since the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
entered Kabul city.

Niki Tabasom spent one million Afs to open a café in Kabul three years ago. She said that her café’s staff was all women who lost their jobs when the previous government collapsed. She was collecting about 20,000 Afs daily from her café.

Niki Tabasom told TOLOnews: "The café has been closed since the Taliban came to Kabul. My colleagues and I lost our jobs."

In order to feed their families, women are seeking ways to work and earn money, Tabasom said.

"Women are the breadwinners for some families, so these families are facing economic and financial problems," she added.

The café’s employees said that each of them is leading a family. Opportunities for work must be found for women.

Qadira said: "They should consider our demands. When they don’t pay attention, how will the Taliban start governance?"

Sabrina Sultani said: "I was earning my livelihood by working at the café for two years. I helped my family."

Afghan businesswomen lost millions of Afs as the Taliban took Afghanistan in mid-August.

Noor-ul-Haq Omari, head of the Union of Kabul Workers, said: "Investments led by women have unfortunately stopped. They lost their jobs and funds. In some cases, the women have sold their company’s expensive things at a very low price."

Dozens of Afghan businesswomen had begun to invest in various fields across the country over the past few years, and now this has stopped.

Female Afghan prosecutors detained in self-prison
Yesterday female judges, today female prosecutors.
[KhaamaPress] As per the CNN report, the former female Afghan prosecutors have been self-detained for the fear of reprisal from those who were once jailed after their judgments and have now been released. Female prosecutors usually dealt with the cases of women’s rights violation, women’s torture, rapes, murder, and family harassment.

Thousands of prisoners have been freed throughout Afghanistan by the Taliban after they took over the country.

Along with other female employees in Afghanistan, female prosecutors have also been at their homes and have been told not to go to their jobs.

Airways flight from Afghanistan to Doha on Sept. 19 and have safely evacuated the Taliban

-controlled country, the U.S. State Department confirmed on Monday.

"We can confirm that a Qatar Airways flight departed from Kabul ... with 21 U.S. citizens and 48 lawful permanent residents on board," State Department spokesperson Ned Price said in a statement.

"We are thankful to Qatari authorities, who continue to coordinate these flights with the Taliban," he added. "As we have stated before, we will continue to help U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and Afghans affiliated with the U.S. government to depart Afghanistan."

The latest departure was the fourth Qatari chartered flight carrying civilians from Afghanistan to Qatar since U.S. forces withdrew from the war-torn nation last month after the country’s swift takeover by Taliban bad boys.

Qatari assistant foreign minister Lolwah Rashid al-Khater said that besides Afghans and Americans on board the airliner, citizens from Germany, Belgium, Ireland, Canada, La Belle France, Italia, Britannia, Finland, and the Netherlands were also part of the evacuation operation.

Khater said that "more than 230 passengers" were on board the Sept. 19 flight. The evacuees will initially stay in a compound in Doha, the capital of Qatar, which is currently hosting Afghans and other evacuees.

"Qatar will continue its collaboration with international partners on efforts that ensure freedom of movement in Afghanistan while working with various parties on the ground towards more general progress in the country moving forward," a Qatari official who was not identified said, Rooters reported.

On Sept. 18, one day before the latest Qatar Airways flight departed Kabul, the U.S. State Department confirmed that 28 Americans have been flown out of Afghanistan since the full withdrawal of U.S. troops.

"We can confirm that a Qatar Airways charter flight departed from Kabul yesterday with 28 U.S. citizens and 7 lawful permanent residents on board," Price said in a statement, suggesting that the evacuation succeeded because of the Taliban’s cooperation.

Top US military general holds talks with Russian counterpart
[Aljazeera] The top United States military leader, Joint Chiefs Chair General Mark Milley, met with his Russian counterpart, Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov, in Helsinki on Wednesday.

The meeting of the two military leaders comes after the chaotic US military withdrawal from Afghanistan unleashed a new humanitarian crisis in Central Asia and as Washington seeks to coordinate with neighbouring powers on countering armed groups.

"It was a productive meeting. When military leaders of great powers communicate, the world is a safer place," Milley told The Associated Press.

Both sides agreed not to disclose details of the meeting, as has been the practice in previous meetings and calls, the AP reported. But the US basing issue around Afghanistan was a key topic for Milley with NATO counterparts in Greece over the weekend.

Russia and the US have been engaged in a dialogue on strategic stability following the Geneva summit meeting between US President Joe Biden and Russia President Vladimir Putin in June. But the rapid US and NATO withdrawal from Afghanistan and the sudden rise of the Taliban government in Kabul have raised new security concerns.

Gerasimov and Milley, meeting at a residence near Helsinki, discussed issues of mutual interest including risk mitigation in military activities, according to a report by RIA Novosti, a Russian news service.

'People are going to die': Governors, lawmakers rip Biden's partisan rationing of COVID treatment
[Just The News] COVID-19 treatments popular in red states are becoming harder to obtain, leading some governors and lawmakers to accuse the Biden administration of rationing healthcare.

"People are going to die" because the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is rationing the distribution of Regeneron's monoclonal antibody treatment to states including Texas, Republican Rep. Brian Babin, a member of the GOP Doctors Caucus, said on the John Solomon Reports podcast.

"This is a federal takeover, and really seemingly punishing six conservative Republican red states" that have successfully treated COVID patients while resisting the president's mandates, said Babin, a longtime dentist who represents parts of Houston. Texas and other states "are being cut 30 to 50%," he claimed.

"It just goes without saying that this Biden administration doesn't care," said Babin, adding that "they flip-flop routinely" on vaccine mandates and lockdowns. Referring to Dr. Anthony Fauci, he said "the only thing you know that's always certain about this man is that he's uncertain."

Texas Rep. Chip Roy said a meeting with HHS left him with "more questions than answers" about the "throttling" of supply. Officials, he complained, gave him "crickets" when he asked twice for data on supply and manufacturing capacity compared to demand, and they offered "no clear evidence [of a] current shortage," the Republican tweeted Saturday.

#6  Not just LaPalma. Go on Google Earth or even Google Maps satellite view and look at the flanks around various volcanic islands. A lot of them show very large pieces of debris around them. This debris came from flank collapses of these islands. Oahu at one time was much larger until the north side of the island suffered such a collapse. One chunk of debris was that to be a seamount until surveyed and it was actually found to be actual debris. The two single largest natural disasters that could befall the United States outside of an asteroid impact are Yellowstone and a major flank collapse of the island of Hawaii. Of course Yellowstone or Hawaii would effect far more nations than the US

Declassified documents about fierce battles near Smolensk in 1941
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

MOSCOW , September 10, 2021 , 08:38 - REGNUMThe Russian Military Historical Society (RVIO) has published declassified documents from the Central Archives of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation related to the Battle of Smolensk during the Great Patriotic War. You can get acquainted with them on the History.rf portal.

"The next collection of documents is dedicated to the Battle of Smolensk on July 10 - September 10, 1941, when, during two months of fierce fighting in the central sector of the Soviet-German front, the Red Army soldiers managed, due to stubborn defense and bold counterattacking actions, to disrupt the offensive dates provided for by the Barbarossa plan Hitlerites to Moscow," said in the RVIO.

The published collection includes declassified combat maps, orders, operational reports, combat and political reports. These documents "reveal the extreme degree of fierce fighting and dedication with which the soldiers and commanders of the Red Army blocked the path of the German Army Group Center on the territory of the Smolensk region and a number of neighboring regions."

"These documents will be of interest to both scientists and researchers, and a wide audience of people interested in the history of the Great Patriotic War," added the society.

The RVIO recalled that it was during the Battle of Smolensk that for the first time the BM-13 "Katyusha" rocket mortars from the first separate experimental rocket artillery battery under the command of Captain Ivan Flerov were brought down on the enemy.

"The soldiers and commanders of the 16th, 19th and 21st armies, fighters of the destroyer battalions, covered themselves with eternal and unfading glory during the Smolensk battle," the Historical Society said.

Recall that the Battle of Smolensk began on July 10, 1941. Until July 20, the Nazis achieved serious successes, and the troops of the Red Army were forced to withdraw to the east. On July 13, during an offensive on the left (southern) flank of the Western Front towards Bobruisk, the Red Army launched an offensive and drove the Germans out of the cities of Rogachev and Zhlobin. However, on July 16, the Nazi troops still managed to capture Smolensk.

Interesting to note that there were in toto, seven Soviet armies involved in the Smolensk defensive operation, though the article only identifies only three. That is because those other four armies were still under command of Stalin's reserve front, which was still forming up armies and moving them to the west.

Even more interestingly, in my estimation, was the commander of the Soviet 24th Army, commanded by NKVD General Konstantin Rakutin. Until this year little data was available about Rakutin's career between the Russian Civil War and his command of 24th Army.

Rakutin was a political instructor (politruk) and a reliable henchman for the Communist Party.

One more fact not mentioned in the Russian article was that directly after the conclusion of the Smolensk Defensive Operation, the first limited offensive of the Red Army were launched in the wake of the defensive. The offensive was conducted by none other than Marshal Semyon Timoshenko
Posted by: badanov || 09/23/2021 00:00 || Comments || Link || E-Mail|| [11135 views] Top|| File under:

#1  WIKI: Rakutin was removed from the rolls of the Red Army in 1943 as missing in action. He was declared dead postwar in 1946, but the location and circumstances of his death remained unknown. His place of death was discovered by members of the Search Movement and in 1996 his remains were reburied at the military cemetery in Snegiri. For his "courage and heroism displayed in the struggle against the German Fascist invaders during the Great Patriotic War," Rakutin was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union and the Order of Lenin on 5 May 1990.

Mail in balloting and Dominion computerized vote counting make such archaic action against future political rivals unnecessary.

Connecticut man allegedly broke in, tried to take over family's home
[NYPOST] A Connecticut man broke into a family’s home and tried to take over the residence as his own, state police said.Benjamin Dahm, 31, was arrested inside a second-floor bathroom in the family’s Meetinghouse Lane home in Old Lyme late Monday after a 16-year-old boy arrived at his house and spotted an unfamiliar car with no license plates parked in the garage, state police records cited by the Hartford Courant show.

The teen noticed his front door was locked and then saw a man he didn’t know inside his house wearing shorts without a shirt, apparently making himself at home.

The man whom state police later identified as Dahm then saw the teen and opened a window to warn him, according to an incident report.

"This isn’t your house anymore," Dahm told the teen before slamming the window shut, the 16-year-old told state police.

A landscaper arrived to do scheduled work on the property just after the bizarre encounter and called cops. The shocked 16-year-old, meanwhile, called his mother to explain what was going on, state police said.

Troopers arrived at the home and tried to get Dahm’s attention, but had trouble doing so because he was blaring loud music inside. He eventually made eye contact with a trooper, but he refused to leave the home, records show.

At one point, Dahm downplayed the situation, saying he had every right to be there, state police said.

"I live here with my girlfriend, there shouldn’t be any problems, she will be home shortly," Dahm told the officers who were holding him at gunpoint, an incident report shows.

But Dahm was some 20 miles away from his apartment in Gales Ferry, the Courant reported.

State troopers and a K-9 ultimately got into the home via a basement storm hatch and ordered Dahm to get out, but he again ignored those commands. Cops later found him hiding in an upstairs bathroom and took him into custody without incident, according to the report.

No visible damage was left behind in the family’s home and no property or items were stolen, state police said. The vehicle he drove to the home, identified by WTIC as a Jeep Cherokee, was also towed from the residence, the Courant reported.

Dahm, who was expected to appear in court Tuesday, was taken into custody on $50,000 bond. He was charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and interfering with an officer, court records cited by the Courant show.

Dahm was still incarcerated
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
early Wednesday, Department of Corrections records show. It’s unclear if he’s hired an attorney who could speak on his behalf.

Dahm has another six active criminal and motor vehicle cases pending in Connecticut courts from April through July, according to the newspaper, including charges of disorderly conduct and violating conditions of his release, court records show.
Judge: "Mr. Dahm, you've had a busy summer"
Dahm: "I'm being oppressed, man"

World has never been more threatened or divided: UN chief
[GREATERKASHMIR] The world has never been more threatened or more divided, and is facing the "greatest cascade" of crises, UN Secretary General António Guterres
...Portuguese politician and diplomat, ninth Secretary-General of the United Nations. In both a 2012 and 2014 poll, the Portuguese public ranked him as the best Prime Minister of the previous 30 years...
told global leaders on Tuesday, sounding an alarm over the COVID-19 pandemic, a climate crisis pummeling the planet and an upheaval in Afghanistan and other nations that is thwarting peace.
Two words: French Revolution. Robespierre. Napoleon Bonaparte. Austerlitz. Corunna. Badajoz. Lines of Torres Vedras. Waterloo.
Guterres, in his address to the opening of the General Debate of the 76th Session of the General Assembly, said that human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
are under fire, science is under assault and economic lifelines for the most vulnerable are coming too little and too late, if they come at all, and solidarity is missing in action just when the world need it the most.
Two words: Romulus Augustus. Vandals and Visigoths. Huns. The murder of Aetius.
"I am here to sound the alarm: The world must wake up. We are on the edge of an abyss — and moving in the wrong direction. Our world has never been more threatened. Or more divided. We face the greatest cascade of crises in our lifetimes," he said.
One word: Mohammad. Genghis Khan. Tamerlane. Turks, Seljuk and Ottoman. Sack of Constantinople. Fall of the Byzantine Empire.
The annual high-level week, which had to be held virtually last year due to the raging COVID-19 pandemic, returned to a hybrid format this year with over 100 Heads of State and Government as well as foreign ministers and diplomats scheduled to address world leaders in-person from the iconic General Assembly Hall here.
Two words: Great Plague. Actually repeated Great Plagues. A third of Europe dead.
Outlining the crises facing the world today, Guterres said that the COVID-19 pandemic has supersized glaring inequalities, the climate crisis is pummeling the planet, the upheaval from Afghanistan to Æthiopia to Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
and beyond has thwarted peace and a surge of mistrust and misinformation is polarising people and paralysing societies.
Two words: Adolf Hitler. Anschluss. I feel a lot more secure in my world than my grandfather did in his. All he had to worry about was Archduke Ferdinand, the fall of the Hapsburg Empire, and Kaiser Bill. And D'Annunzio and Benito Mussolini.

UNHCR: 42 Europe Bound Migrants Returned to Libya
[LIBYAREVIEW] On Wednesday, the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) announced that 42 Europe-bound asylum-seekers and migrants colonists were returned to Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
. Among them were four children and eight women, of whom two were pregnant.UNHCR added that the majority of the asylum-seekers were from Nigeria, Sudan, Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
, and Egypt. "UNHCR and International Rescue Committee (IRC) provided assistance and medical aid to all survivors," it tweeted.

Libya has become the preferred point of departure for migrants colonists wanting to cross the Mediterranean towards European shores, since the 2011 uprising toppled leader Muammar Qadaffy
...The late megalomaniac dictator of Libya, admired everywhere for his garish costumes, funny hats, harem of cutie bodyguards, and incoherent ravings. As far as is known, he is the only person who's ever declared jihad on Switzerland...
.

According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), more than 22,000 illegal migrants colonists, including women and kiddies, have been rescued during 2021. Hundreds of others have died or gone missing off the Libyan coast on the dangerous central Mediterranean route.

Rescued migrants colonists end up inside overcrowded reception centers across Libya, despite repeated international calls to close these centers down. In traffickers’ camps as well as official detention centers, thousands of migrants colonists are tortured for extortion purposes, and women often suffer sexual violence. "Many migrants colonists who had departed from the Libyan coast claimed that they have been beaten and tortured in the centers where they were detained prior to leaving," a nurse working for MSF told Italia’s news website ANSA.

70% of Vaccinated Prisoners Caught COVID in an Outbreak
[Epoch Times] More than two-thirds of fully vaccinated prisoners contracted COVID-19 during an outbreak inside a Texas prison, the CDC said in a study. The vaccine, the CDC said, protected the prisoners against severe COVID-19 symptoms.

The agency said that 129 out of 185 fully vaccinated prisoners caught the virus, according to data compiled by the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the CDC in the agency’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report published Tuesday. Separately, of 42 unvaccinated prisoners, 93 percent caught the virus during the outbreak in the undisclosed prison.
This anecdote suggests the vaccine may save your life, but will not stop the virus.
The CDC data showed that seven unvaccinated and 21 fully vaccinated prisoners had previously contacted a documented case of COVID-19.
They got it again? A non-trivial percentage - 12.3% of 227 inmates. So much for acquired immunity!
Some studies have shown that individuals who previously contracted the CCP virus develop long-lasting and robust protection against the Delta variant.

Based on the new data, the CDC said that vaccinating most of the U.S. population should remain a priority.
Unexpectedly.

GSh-18: What the lightest pistol in the world is capable of
I went to a shooting range to test the weapon’s capabilities prior to its replacement by the PLK pistol in the hands of the Security Forces units (click here to find out everything about the weapon).

I personally tested the gun at a shooting range in the Moscow suburbs in early September 2021.

Let’s start with its appearance. On the outside, it looks like a simplified version of a Glock pistol with a metal frame placed on a plastic grip. Yet, the difference between the Austrian one and the Russian one is drastic. The European pistol looks stylish and comfortable. It feels good in your hands, while GSh-18 feels edgy and clumsy.

"The ‘look’ was never a factor for Russian constructors. These pistols weren’t created to become a commercial product and be sold in weapon stores around the world. The GSh-28, as other pistols in Russia, were created to fulfil certain needs of the Defense Ministry. So it did," says Andrey Piskunov, a Spec Ops instructor.

Engineers at the range said that the Defense Ministry had wanted the new pistol to be as light as possible.

"The GSh-18 wasn’t purposely made to be the lightest pistol in the world. It was a mere accident. Back in the 2000s, constructors used special polymers in the grip and left only essential metal parts inside of the frame to make this pistol operational as well as reliable," says Yuri Omelin, a leading engineer of the High-Precision Weapons corporation.

The frame of a pistol looks edgy and scratches hands if you fire it without gloves. At the same time, the frame goes smoothly and easily when you reload the weapon.

The grip does feel uncomfortable and wide. The trigger is long and has a Glock-style safety mechanism on it - a very practical addition compared to the previous era TT and Makarov pistols.

The GSh-18 takes time to get used to. If you hold it tight like a standard 1 kg pistol, it starts nodding down upon firing. You need to relax your hands as much as possible to precisely hit targets 25-50 meters away.

Operatives like it for firepower, as the GSh-18 is capable of piercing body armor plates, which the Makarov pistol could not.

Characteristics
The GSh-18 uses the world’s most widely used pistol ammo - the 9x19 mm Luger and Parabellum rounds. The weapon received enlarged magazines capable of storing up to 18 rounds (in comparison, the Marakov pistol can only hold eight rounds).

The GSh-18 is capable of penetrating body armor with 2nd grade class protection and, in 2021, it received ammo that’s even capable of penetrating 3d grade class protection.

Each GSh-18 pistol has a minimum life span of 30,000 shots. It weighs as much as 580 grams and is still the lightest military pistol in the world. However, there are lighter pistols on the commercial market.

"These guns are called 'ladies pistols.' These are small-caliber pistols that should fit inside of a purse. They are totally ineffective during a skirmish, but good enough for self-protection," notes Omelin.

The weapon has spent 20 years in service in the Russian military and these days, it awaits its replacement in service by Kalashnikov’s PLK pistol.

UNISA Language Policy Huge Victory for Afrikaans and Language Rights
[AfriForum] The ruling handed down by the Constitutional Court today in favour of AfriForum in the case for the retention of Afrikaans as a primary language of instruction at the University of South Africa (Unisa), is hailed by AfriForum as a huge victory for Afrikaans, Afrikaans-speaking students and language rights in South Africa in general.

The case was heard by this court on 20 May 2021 and judgment was reserved. This followed after the Supreme Court of Appeal had ruled in favour of AfriForum on this issue with its judgment in 2020 that Unisa’s language policy had not been adopted "in a constitutionally compliant manner".

The Constitutional Court upheld the Supreme Court of Appeal’s finding that Unisa’s current language policy, which provides only for English as the primary medium of instruction, is unconstitutional, but allowed more time for the implementation of the ruling. The full ruling is not yet available, but AfriForum has the greatest appreciation for the Constitutional Court’s position on students’ right to mother language education.

Youth shot in Baramulla tried to snatch soldier's weapon: Army
[GREATERKASHMIR] Army on Wednesday said the youth shot by a soldier in the legs had attempted to snatched the latter’s weapon in north Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain.
’s Baramulla district."Mousin Manzoor Shallay, son of Manzoor Ahmed Shallay, 24 years, sustained injuries when he tried to snatch the weapon from a soldier on protection duty who was deployed at the market place in Azadganj Chowk, Baramulla on 22 Sep 2021. Individual was shot in the legs to thwart the weapon snatching attempt," said a defence front man, in a statement.

Shallay, he said, has a history of being on the wrong side of the law. "He had earlier assaulted a soldier on duty in similar circumstances around two months back. The individual was counselled by the army on that occasion and was let off on the assurance of the family members," said the front man.

"The individual also has a past police record, in which a case for stone pelting during the year 2012 & 2014 had been registered against him. He had earlier gone missing on 21 Aug 19 and was apprehended on 05 Oct 19 at Kralahar Naka, Kanispura in a military operation."

Subsequently, he was released from custody on 22 Jun 2020.

Police have started the paperwork but haven't done much else in the present incident and investigation for the same is in progress, added the statement.

Former Ukrainian Interior Ministry official to face trial over Maidan killings
By Halya Coynash

[KHPG] Yury Spasskykh, a former Interior Ministry official, has been remanded in custody in Ukraine and is facing trial on charges linked with the killing of Maidan protesters in the morning of 18 February 2014. Spasskykh is, in fact, charged over a number of Maidan crimes and fled the country in the Spring of 2014, only to end up imprisoned in Russia on bizarre charges.

During the Euromaidan protests in 2013-2014, Spasskykh was the deputy head of a section dealing with mass events within the Kyiv Police Department on Public Security. He appears to have first been arrested in 2018 after returning to Ukraine, but was only remanded in custody, by the Pechersky District Court in Kyiv on 20 September after he went into hiding earlier in the month. He was earlier informed of charges over the violent dispersal (or attempted dispersal) of protesters during the night from 10-11 December 2013, and over the dispersing of protesters on 18 February 2014, the first of the two bloodiest days of Maidan, when peaceful protesters were gunned down.

Nice to know, Maxine finally admits her real age, 176 years old.

2021-1845=176 years

1845+20=1860 -Last 20 Years of slavery

1861-1865 - Civil War

1865 to 2021 = 156 years, since the last of slavery.

[MSN] The White House said Tuesday it 'strongly opposes' a provision of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that prohibits the Pentagon from punishing or dishonorably discharging any service member who refuses a vaccine.

'The Administration strongly opposes section 716, which would detract from readiness and limit a commander's options for enforcing good order and discipline when a Service member fails to obey a lawful order to receive a vaccination,' the White House Office of Management and Budget said in a statement on the yearly bill that funds the Pentagon.

'To enable a uniformed force to fight with discipline, commanders must have the ability to give orders and take appropriate disciplinary measures.'

George W. Bush to hold re-election fundraiser for Rep. Liz Cheney
[NYPOST] Possibly cornered Rep. Liz Cheney
...Faux Republican hereditary congresswoman-for-life from Wyoming. She has been described as Republican royalty. A staunch Never Trumper, Liz supported the second impeachment of Donald Trump for his role in the 2021 storming of the U.S. Capitol. Publicans dumped her from her leadership position in May 2021. Refusing to admit that she had trashed her own career, Cheney has said that she intends to be the leader... in a fight to help to restore our party and that she may be interested in a future presidential run....
is betting on figures from the fading Republican establishment to help her win re-election — setting up a clash between two GOP former presidents.

Cheney (R-Wyo.), who has been sidelined by House Republican leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy
...the GOP house majority whip. He replaces Eric Cantor, who got whupped because his politix are like Kevin McCarthy's...
for voting to impeach President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
, has invited President George W. Bush to hold a fundraiser for her next month in Dallas, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Trump is backing her challenger Harriet Hageman in the 2022 Republican primary for Wyoming’s sole House seat.

In his endorsement of Hageman earlier this month, Trump referred to Cheney as a "warmonger and disloyal Republican."

The fundraiser comes amid a squabble between the 43rd and 45th presidents.

DHS Is Releasing Many Haitians from Del Rio Landing
[Breitbart] Biden administration officials began quietly telling journalists Monday they will release many of the roughly 15,000 Haitian migrants in the Del Rio camp.

The releases will allow the migrants to take Americans’ jobs, to compete for housing, to ask for asylum and green cards, and to put their children into the crowded classrooms needed by ordinary American kids.

The Haitian catch and release process also will be displayed by Haitians’ cellphones and will encourage more Haitians to risk their children’s lives in the long trek to the U.S. border.

The quiet promises of catch-and-release are being hidden behind showcase video of small-scale deportations, and behind televised bluster from top officials, including Alejandro Mayorkas, the pro-migration chief of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Morgan Chesky, a reporter for NBC Nightly News, said September 20:

Senior DHS officials telling NBC News the administration will prioritize deporting single Haitian adults and families [who are] not claiming asylum. Unaccompanied children and most families asking for asylum can stay in the U.S.

Bill Melugin, at Fox News, tweeted September 19 that U.S. Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz "told me single adult men will be expelled via Title 42, but most family units will be processed and released into US."

The Haitians "aren’t idiots ... they’re rational actors," responded Mark Krikorian, the director of the Center for Immigration Studies. He continued:

They’re not cartoons in the imagination of some liberal do-gooder. They’re people who have a good sense of what they want and what the odds are ... [So] if anyone who brings a child with him is exempted from the [deportation] rules, then sending back the single adults only [to Haiti] is not really sending the [deterrence] message that people think it is, because it is saying [to Haitians] "Always make damn sure you have a kid with you, and then we’ll let you go into the U.S."

U.S. officials are expect to invite roughly 2 million legal and illegal migrants into the United States during 2021. The inflow will deliver roughly one migrant for every two American births. The flood of imported labor, consumers and renters will reduce Americans’ wages, raise their housing costs, and add more chaotic diversity into Americans’ fractured society.

Iron Dome will be funded, but more ‘Squad' trouble is on the way - analysis
[JPost] Recent events should concern Israel of trouble with the "Squad" even as statements by Israeli officials tried to minimize the problem.

The Iron Dome may ultimately receive the American funding it needs, after progressive pressure led Democratic Party leadership in the House of Representatives to remove it from a broader bill, and then vowed to propose the aid as its own bill within days. But that doesn’t mean that the drama surrounding it is over.

Tuesday’s events in the House should ring alarm bells in Jerusalem that more trouble with the "Squad" is on the way, even as public statements by Israeli officials tried to minimize the problem.

US President Joe Biden has been promising Israel for months that a billion dollars in batteries for the missile defense system would be forthcoming. He said it first in May, at the close of Operation Guardian of the Walls, the latest round of war in response to Gaza terrorists shooting rockets at Israeli civilians; and he promised it again to Prime Minister Naftali Bennett during his visit to the Oval Office a month ago.

Jerusalem was satisfied with those promises, and presented them as one of the prime minister’s achievements in his first meeting with the president. Bennett’s advisers and Israeli diplomats got word late Tuesday that things were moving smoothly toward a vote that would include the aid.

Progressive Democrats then refused to support the legislation — which was mostly meant to provide funding that would prevent a government shutdown — if it also included the Iron Dome funding.

Interestingly, none of these progressive members of Congress have thus far identified themselves publicly. Politico reported that it is the same group that pushed to block arms to Israel during Operation Guardians of the Wall in May, which would mean Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) of New York, Mark Pocan of Wisconsin and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan. Pocan’s office, however, denied to The Jerusalem Post that he was involved in the latest move.

In contrast to that small group, a bipartisan group of 56 members wrote to US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin in June, calling on him to "ensure that the Iron Dome remains able to protect Israel without running the risk that its stockpile of interceptors becomes depleted. Israel must always have the resources it needs to defend itself from incoming rockets when it is targeted again."

But with only a narrow majority in Congress, and Republicans refusing to save the Democrats from a government shutdown — even if that entails delaying Israel’s Iron Dome resupply — the Democrats didn’t have enough votes to pass the bill. They gave in to the Progressive demands and removed the Iron Dome from that vote.

Hours afterward, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer tweeted that "the House will consider legislation this week to fully fund Iron Dome. We will act to ensure Israel has the ability to defend itself, and I expect strong bipartisan support for this effort."

Hoyer seemingly confirmed what Foreign Minister Yair Lapid’s spokesman said after the two spoke on the phone Tuesday night: that it was only a "technical postponement that came from an argument in Congress about the American debt ceiling."

Everything is fine, was the message Lapid conveyed. Hoyer, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer still support Israel and will make sure the Iron Dome is funded as soon as possible for Israel’s security needs.

The real problem, Lapid said, is former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"After years in which the previous government abandoned Congress and the Democratic Party and caused significant damage to Israel-US relations, we are rebuilding trust with Congress," Lapid said. "I thank the [Biden] administration and Congress for their strong commitment to Israel’s security."

Although the technical aspect of getting the money for the Iron Dome seems like it will be resolved quickly — with the progressives probably not having permanently derailed missile defense funding — the problem certainly is broader than that. And the incident proves that his pointing fingers at Netanyahu for souring ties between Israel and parts of the Democratic Party is an explanation that falls short.

The influence of progressives in the Democratic Party is growing. Hoyer, Pelosi and Schumer are close to retirement, while Ocasio-Cortez, Tlaib and other members of The Squad are at the start of their political careers, in very liberal districts.
These pretentious tw@ts and Bro-f*ckers represent a small, but vocal minority of Joooo haters. If Dem-supporting American Juice had any self-awareness, they would know it's about the crocodile eating them last...

Men charged with hate crime for attacking Jewish diners in Los Angeles
[NYPOST] Two Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, men were charged with a hate crime for attacking two Jewish diners outside a Los Angeles sushi restaurant, prosecutors said.Xavier Pabon, 30, and Samer Jayylusi, 36, were charged Tuesday in the May 18 attack outside Sushi Fumi in the city’s Beverly Grove section, where they were part of a pro-Paleostinian group, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

"The defendants are accused of approaching two men outside of a restaurant and attacking them because of their religion," prosecutors said in a statement.

Pabon, of Banning, and Jayylusi, of Anaheim, were charged with two felony counts of assault by means of force likely to cause great bodily injury, as well as a hate crime allegation.

"A hate crime is a crime against all of us," District Attorney George Gascón said. "My office is committed to doing all we can to make Los Angeles County a place where our diversity is embraced and protected."

Video from outside the restaurant provided anonymously to the Los Angeles Times showed several cars passing by while people waved Paleostinian flags amid ongoing festivities between Israel and Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, Death Eaters in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...

Where were the Local/State Police and Federal Courthouse Police, when he should have gotten a instant Major dose of Whoop Ass?

Hell even Congress says it is OK to shoot unarmed females for less cause.

EITHER WAY
This is nothing a "Political / Media Figure Head" arrest and conviction for a $500 window. But does nothing to address the BLOM Riot Organizers at all.

The arrest and conviction likely, when done start to finish, will cost the Taxpayers over $100,000.

QUESTION:
What about arresting or Civil Court Lawsuits against BLOM Organizing Leadership, behind the riot? We know many have made some serious $$$$$ running BLOM.

Carlos the Jackal seeks to reduce life sentence for deadly 1974 Paris attack
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Carlos the Jackal, the leftist Death Eater who carried out attacks across the globe in the 1970s and 1980s, opened a bid in a French court on Wednesday to reduce the life sentence he had been given for a deadly grenade attack on a Gay Paree shop in 1974.

The self-declared "professional revolutionary", whose real name is Ilich Ramirez Sanchez, has been behind bars in La Belle France since he was captured and spirited out of Sudan by French special forces in 1994.

He was found guilty in 2017 over a grenade attack in 1974 on a shop on Gay Paree’s Champs Elysees, the Drugstore Publicis, that killed two people and injured 36.

#1  ...I had honestly thought he'd died a few years ago.

And I gotta relate this bit from a late 90s novel whose name escapes me: Terrorists decide to carry out a hostage grab to free Carlos, and it all goes horribly wrong - all the hostages dead, most of the terrs.

Carlos knows none of this, assuming he's on his way out the gate in a few, deciding what tropical paradise he'd like to be flown to, etc. Right on cue, the prison administrator shows up with two hulking guards, and Carlos figures this is it, time to get going. But instead, the administrator just smiles and says, "The President of the French Republic sends his deepest condolences."

"Why?", Carlos asks.

"For the heart attack you're going to have tonight. Au revoir."

White House Blames Boris Johnson for Biden's Snub of American Press in Oval Office
[BREITBART] The White House on Wednesday blamed United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson
...pro-Brexit British prime minister, succeeding no-Brexit Theresa May. BoJo is noted as much for his sparkling personality and his hair as for his Conservative policies....
after President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. An incredibly corrupt version of Jar-Jar Binks, only well into his dotage. The dumbass who abandoned Afghanistan....
snubbed American news hounds in the Oval Office on Tuesday evening.

Johnson called on two news hounds from his press corps for questions, but Biden did not do the same for American news hounds.

CBS White House correspondent Ed O’Keefe raised the incident with White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki
...a valley girl who woke up one morning and found she was spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of State under Obama. A new American success story, under Biden she became spokeswoman for the whole administration, and she was even able to get her sister a job...
during the daily briefing Wednesday.

Psaki made the excuse that Johnson did not inform Biden or his staff "in advance" that he would take questions.

"I think our relationship with the United Kingdom and with prime minister Johnson is so strong and abiding, we’ll be able to move beyond this," she added. "But he called on individuals in his press corps without alerting us to that intention in advance."

When asked by another news hound if Biden felt upstaged by Johnson’s questions that set off the awkward exchange, Psaki quickly denied it.

"I think the president has not spent a moment worrying about it," she replied.

Reporters were visibly upset after Biden aides shouted them out of the room — at one point drowning out the president’s attempt to answer a question.

Florida high school football coach accused of raping goddaughter
[NYPOST] A Florida high school assistant football coach has been accused of raping his teen goddaughter, police said.

Dominic Johnson, 36, who works at Miami Carol City Senior High School, was arrested Monday at the building on a charge of sexual battery of a minor by an adult, the Miami Herald reported.

Johnson — an 11-year Miami-Dade County Schools veteran who is also a security monitor at the high school — "denied the allegations.
No, no! Certainly not!
of raping his 16-year-old goddaughter at his North Miami-Dade home on Sunday after he was taken into custody, an arrest report shows.

The girl told cops Johnson raped her in a bathroom in his home, the report states.

"If I had the choice, I would have never spoke to him in the first place," the 16-year-old girl told WSVN. "He ruined me, he gained my trust and he broke it."

The teen and her family went straight to police after the alleged attack, WSVN reported.

"He forced himself onto me, he didn’t let me out of the bathroom," she recalled. "He raped me."

The teen’s mother said Johnson was once considered to be a member of their family.

"You were supposed to be her protector," she told WSVN. "You failed us, you failed the community, coach."

Haitian deportees assaulted US pilots
Haitian deportees assaulted U.S. pilots and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents on deportation flights arriving in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on Tuesday, according to a report from NBC News.

NBC News reported the incident began after a flight of single adult men arrived on the tarmac, citing a source familiar with internal reports.

Several of the men then stormed to another flight that recently arrived and was carrying families. On the second flight, the men allegedly attacked pilots of the plane and three ICE officers.

The officers suffered non-life threatening injuries, NBC reported.

A spokesperson for DHS told The Hill in a statement that some adult migrants caused "two separate disruptions" on the tarmac after deplaning in Port-au-Prince. Haitian crowd control officers responded to both incidents and "resolved the situation."

"ICE fully respects the rights of all people to peacefully express their opinions, while continuing to perform its immigration enforcement mission consistent with our priorities, federal law and agency policy," the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson did not give further detail about the "disruptions."

The incident comes as the U.S. has ramped up deportation flights to Haiti after over 10,000 migrants crowded under a bridge in Del Rio, Texas.

The Biden administration resumed deportation flights last week, sparking backlash from the international community. The optics worsened on Monday after viral footage from the U.S.-Mexico border showed officers on horseback seeking to push Haitians back across the border.

Despite the backlash, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told a Senate panel on Tuesday that there were no plans to cease flights.

"We are increasing the frequency and number of the repatriation flights each day," Mayorkas said. "And we're hoping that what we are doing now serves as a deterrent because it backs up the words that we have spoken since the very outset: that irregular migration is not the way to enter the United States. It will not work."

Can Truckers, Trumpers, and Radio Hosts Help Rescue America?
[Epoch Times] Can the iron grip of an over-schooled "wokerati" be pried from the necks of ordinary Americans? Can the despair among common men and women who were once the backbone of free and well-ordered societies ever be lifted?

It will be crucial to teach more young people to think outside the Marxist box. But, it will also be important to mix and collaborate with human beings who actually live in a clear-eyed state of separation from progressive higher education. You may find that the average long-haul driver is capable of more "rational analysis" than the average university student. I have yet to meet a trucker who believes men can give birth.

For those willing to push the boundaries of safe spaces beyond college Facebook friends, secure campuses, faculty rooms, VIP lounges, coffee shops, yoga studios, bike lanes, spas, and tennis clubs, there is a parallel universe of working-class humanity waiting to be discovered.

Show willingness to take common men and women seriously, and you may find yourself in entirely new and surprisingly informative conversations. That’s always been my experience; and it has become even more true throughout the CCP virus pandemic.
I found many construction workers fit this mold.
Try bringing up Donald Trump or a favorite talk-radio host among the individuals who are loading your moving van or repairing your plumbing or doing any of the other labor-intensive jobs that we are told Americans won’t do. You may find new friends and valued allies.

But, many hard-working Canadians think much like the thousands of their American counterparts who participated peacefully outside the Capitol building at the Jan. 6 "Stop the Steal" rally in Washington.

The contemporary right does not seek violent insurrection, as did groups such as Antifa and Black Lives Matter during the bloody summer of 2020. Common people want the democratic order of their nation restored. They simply seek leadership they can trust.

Perhaps the "salty" anti-Biden chants we are beginning to hear at American sports events are signs of a new awakening. Ordinary Americans want their jobs and businesses back and a larger share of their hard-earned salaries. They want their private lives back, the right to dissent returned, and the restoration of honest elections.

If not truckers, Trumpers, and radio hosts, who else will step up to begin rescuing America?

Haitian migrants in custody have 'hijacked' multiple buses
DEL RIO, Texas — Haitian migrants in federal custody have "hijacked" multiple buses during transport rides and forced out drivers in incidents that threaten to stop the U.S. government's immigration enforcement operations, according to three people familiar with the incidents.

"They’ve been basically overpowering the drivers and they’ve actually hijacked a couple of the buses and driven them down the road a little ways and escaped. This happened multiple times," a senior federal law enforcement official told the Washington Examiner Tuesday evening.

The incidents have occurred aboard the boarded-up school buses and commercial coach buses transporting Haitian migrants from the camp beneath the Del Rio-Ciudad Acuna International Bridge to processing centers across the region, as well as from the processing centers to local airports for deportation flights.

They’re moving the detainees, but they’re not shackled — they’re not restrained in any way. Yesterday some detainees kicked a window out and 22 escaped," the same official said, referring to an incident on Monday.

"Now they’re going to start doing high-risk escorts," the official added.

On Monday afternoon, a bus bound for San Antonio, Texas, was taken over during the two-and-a-half-hour trip from the international bridge in Del Rio. The migrants on board had been picked up from the makeshift migrant camp, where thousands are waiting to be taken into custody.

"They did break out of the bus, and they did escape," a second federal law enforcement official confirmed to the Washington Examiner on Tuesday.

Law enforcement searched for the escapees and recaptured them that evening.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

#3  Of course it's a plan, very well orchestrated. These people will be allowed to vote. They will be invited, or coerced, to join our military. Biden and the Democrats need a steady stream of ignorant Third World types to turn America into a socialist hell hole.

Bill introduced in US congress to provide Israel with $1 billion for Iron Dome
F those Joooo-hating Hamas-loving beyotches
[Jpost] The legislation was introduced a day after the funding was removed from a broader spending bill.

The leader of the US House of Representatives Appropriations Committee introduced legislation on Wednesday to provide $1 billion to Israel to replenish its "Iron Dome" missile-defense system, a day after the funding was removed from a broader spending bill.

Some of the most liberal House Democrats had objected to the provision and said they would vote against the broad spending bill. This threatened its passage because Republicans were lined up against the plan to fund the federal government through December 3 and raise the nation's borrowing limit.

The removal led Republicans to label Democrats as anti-Israel, despite a long tradition in the US Congress of strong support from both parties for the Jewish state, to which Washington sends billions of dollars in aid every year.

The United States has already provided more than $1.6 billion for Israel to develop and build the Iron Dome system, according to a Congressional Research Service report last year.

Republicans blast Democrats for pulling Iron Dome funding, House Maj. Leader promises stand-alone bill soon

[NYPOST] Republican politicians are slamming Democrats after House leadership moved to defund Israel’s Iron Dome on Tuesday — calling out the move as Democrats "[capitulating] to the antisemitic influence of their radical members."Spearheaded by the "Squad" of far-left politicians, which includes Reps. (D-NY), Ilhan Omar

(D-Minn.) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), the House moved to cut $1 billion in funding for Israel’s missile defense system from a short-term government funding bill.

Republicans in the House and Senate immediately blasted the decision, suggesting the defunding was a betrayal of Israel.

"President Joe Biden
...... 46th president of the U.S. Sleazy Dem machine politician, paterfamilias of the Biden Crime Family, the guy who bungled Afghanistan......
proclaimed to our allies that ’America is back,’ but since then he has abandoned Americans & allies in Afghanistan, weakened our relationship with La Belle France, and now his Party has let down Israel — our closest ally in the Middle East." Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Iowa) tweeted.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy
...the GOP house majority whip. He replaces Eric Cantor, who got whupped because his politix are like Kevin McCarthy's...
(R-Calif.) echoed his sentiments, promising Republicans would stand with the Middle Eastern country.

"While Dems capitulate to the antisemitic influence of their radical members, Republicans will always stand with Israel," McCarthy wrote.

Changing China: Why Xi Jinping is leading a way back to socialism
[BBC] For decades life in China had evolved around its home-grown version of let-it-rip capitalism.

Despite being technically a "communist" country, the government had put its faith in trickle-down economics, believing that allowing some people to become extremely rich would benefit all of society by dragging it out of the disastrous quagmire of Chairman Mao's Cultural Revolution as quickly as possible.

To an extent it worked. A large middle class has emerged and people in virtually all strata of society now have better living standards as a result.

Wealth disparity

From the stagnation of the 1970s China has been thrust to the top of the pile, now challenging the United States for global economic dominance.

But it left a chasm of income disparity.

It is there to be seen in the children of those who were in the right place and the right time.
